Transcript
- 0:06Hello. What's your least favorite scary
- 0:08movie? Sometimes when you go to sleep,
- 0:13you go on a little walk and sometimes you talk about a place
- 0:17called Silent Hill. Welcome to What's Your Least
- 0:20Favorite Scary Movie? The podcast where we talk about
- 0:22the good, the bad, the ugly and the absurd and all of our
- 0:25favorite. And least favorite?
- 0:26Scary movies. Because we believe every horror
- 0:28movie rightfully has its fan base.
- 0:29Even if we don't always get it. My name is Travis.
- 0:32My name is Jesse. And welcome back, everybody.
- 0:34We are back with another episode this week.
- 0:37And if you can't tell, we're talking about Silent Hill.
- 0:40Indeed we are. That would be a really weird
- 0:42opening quote if we weren't. That's true, yeah, but we're
- 0:46going to get into it. Yay.
- 0:48But before we do that, we have things that we have to address
- 0:51first, OK, like announcements. Do we have any?
- 0:54We have to be or not to be a coming up this weekend.
- 0:56Yes, that's right. That's right.
- 0:58And that. Is Travis's pick.
- 1:00Yeah. God help us all.
- 1:02I think I already know what it's going to be and that's the right
- 1:04attitude to have. Oh no.
- 1:07Yeah, it's OK. It's I hope it's not another one
- 1:10that you're so confident on that we end up turning off after 20
- 1:13minutes because it would be impossible to take notes.
- 1:15On, I don't think, well, I can't say because I've never seen it,
- 1:18but I think it's going to be OK. I think it's going to be a good
- 1:20time, honestly. It's going to be Halloween
- 1:21themed. Of course.
- 1:23Yeah, you got to do that in October.
- 1:24It's October. Yeah.
- 1:26I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully you guys are too.
- 1:28OK, I got one more announcement, sort of.
- 1:33It's our October tradition, as most horror movie fans do, We
- 1:37watch a different horror movie every night in October, and as
- 1:41we're recording this early afternoon, the morning of the
- 1:435th, we only have four days worth of rapid quick fire
- 1:46reviews for you, but we're going to go ahead and share those now.
- 1:50Yeah, this is our Scream screen, as we like to call it.
- 1:53It's our own little Film Festival thing that we do.
- 1:55We take turns picking movies. We don't have veto powers on the
- 2:00other person's choice unless it is for very specific creditable
- 2:07reasons, such as when I was still in school we could not do
- 2:11subtitled movies. Yeah, 'cause you couldn't.
- 2:14I couldn't. Yeah, you had the multitasks.
- 2:16And we also alternate between movies that we've seen before
- 2:19and movies we haven't seen before.
- 2:21That way we sprinkle in new ones.
- 2:22Which is nice 'cause this right here, that's too familiar and
- 2:25too new for us. Yes.
- 2:26So we started off this year with Travis's pick.
- 2:29Yeah, he picked Halloween 6, but the theatrical cut?
- 2:34Which is different for us. We usually do.
- 2:36Producers cut. I forgot how much is different
- 2:39we when we covered Halloween 6, we covered the Producers cut.
- 2:43And man, those of you who are familiar only with the
- 2:47theatrical cut, I can only imagine how confused you were
- 2:50listening to that. Well, that makes me happy
- 2:52because I, I feel like we have potential if we ever wanted to,
- 2:55to go back and just do that theatrical cut version of an
- 2:58episode. Yeah, it's, it's very different,
- 3:00but I like it. You know, I, it gets, it's a
- 3:03tough rap from some people, but I, I think it makes some good
- 3:07changes. I like both versions, but you
- 3:09got to start off the month of October with the Halloween
- 3:12movie. It's only right?
- 3:13Everybody's entitled, so one good scare.
- 3:16Maybe more though, but at least one.
- 3:18Yeah, a second movie was my pick, and it was Candyman, which
- 3:23I maintain is one of the scariest movies I've ever seen.
- 3:27Super solid. I love that movie.
- 3:28It was good. It's been a long time since
- 3:30we've actually sat down and watched it.
- 3:31It was our first time watching it too since the fascinating
- 3:33Tony Todd Which. Was said.
- 3:35Yeah, you're right. Yeah, Yeah.
- 3:38But it's God, it's such a, it's such a good one.
- 3:41And we're eventually going to cover those movies on the show.
- 3:44Oh yeah, 100% it will happen. Yeah, I am looking forward to
- 3:48that one. OK, third, maybe it was a new
- 3:50pick. Yeah, it's Travis's pick.
- 3:53I chose the death proof. Yeah.
- 3:55Yeah, that was our first time watching that.
- 3:57It was a lot of fun. Yeah, I liked it.
- 4:00It ended so abruptly. Yeah, it did.
- 4:04In case you haven't watched it yourself like we hadn't, I'm not
- 4:07going to spoil spoil anything. Yeah, but it was a good time.
- 4:10And like, you're sitting there, you're like, well, that's an
- 4:11abrupt ending, But also, yeah, it kind of concludes the story.
- 4:15Yeah, it really does. I mean, you get an ending.
- 4:18I had a good time with it. That was one that I had been
- 4:21wanting to watch for a long time.
- 4:23Yeah. It's like the Quentin Tarantino
- 4:25horror movie. Starring Kurt Russell.
- 4:29That man can make anything sound cool.
- 4:32What was it he said? He said Virgin Pina Colada, and
- 4:35even that sounded cool coming from out of his mouth.
- 4:37Big. That's his.
- 4:39That's his end of the night, Yeah.
- 4:40His build up, yeah, he's he's sober.
- 4:44OK 4th movie we watched last night and it was The Craft
- 4:47Legacy which I picked because we didn't see it when it came out
- 4:50in theaters and it was fucking impossible to find anywhere
- 4:55until like last month. Yeah, it suddenly popped up
- 4:58like, OK, no, it's. Just yeah, yeah, it was on on
- 5:01Pig Ark and I was like, we're watching this before it
- 5:03disappears into the ether again. I thought it was a very
- 5:07different. Eventually it would be fun to
- 5:09cover both of the use. It was a very different telling
- 5:12of the original, which I think is good for a sequel.
- 5:17I think it also ended abruptly but in a different way than
- 5:21Death Proof. Cuz there are a lot of like, OK,
- 5:24cool, we've got these storylines resolved, but I am also kind of
- 5:28curious about some other things that happened.
- 5:31Yeah. Yeah, don't get resolution on.
- 5:33Yeah. But I I would recommend it if
- 5:37you're a fan of the original. It's a modern take on some of
- 5:41the themes and it's a lot less toxic in the friend group, which
- 5:46was just kind of nice to see like a non-toxic friend group.
- 5:51Yeah, yeah, I definitely check it out.
- 5:55Yeah, like at least give it a shot.
- 5:57It's yeah, it's worth it. It's worth at least giving it a
- 6:00shot. I think so.
- 6:02All right. That being said, we don't have
- 6:05poll anyway. Let's move on to yeah.
- 6:07It's just this is what it is. And that's what it is at this
- 6:10point, we're just we're taking life as it comes at us and
- 6:13sometimes it comes at us without the opportunity to do a poll.
- 6:17Yeah, that's OK. That's OK.
- 6:18We got this. We got this because we're
- 6:20venturing. We're going to the next state
- 6:22over. We're heading over to West
- 6:23Virginia. Yeah, it is.
- 6:25We're not going to the haulers. No.
- 6:26We're not seeing our bubbies over there.
- 6:29The the Hillkers, of course. We're going to a very disturbing
- 6:33place. Oh my God though, Can you
- 6:36imagine the Hilliker brothers in the darkness of the purgatory?
- 6:41I'm not convinced that they're not like the wrong turn movies
- 6:44may exist in the same it's a shared.
- 6:47Universe, I need to I need to watch the rest of the Silent
- 6:50Hill movies and then. Yeah, there's one more.
- 6:52There's only one. More.
- 6:53Oh, OK. There's another one coming out
- 6:55OK, but it hasn't released yet. I think this is so funny, too,
- 6:59because we've talked previously about PT on the show, and I know
- 7:02that that was like, it was a big surprise for the people that
- 7:05finished it. Like, yeah, it's a new Silent
- 7:07Hill game. So the context that is actually
- 7:11mine and Jesse's only experience with the video game series.
- 7:14I've not played any of the Silent Hill games.
- 7:16I'm fairly familiar with it because I've had friends that
- 7:18were into them, but that was I. I'm disappointed that I haven't.
- 7:23I really want to, but I want to play it the right way and the
- 7:27only thing I can get right now is like the remastered version
- 7:31and they removed all the fog from that.
- 7:34How do you remove fog from Silent Hill?
- 7:36So originally the fog was implemented as like a wave
- 7:41because of the restrictions of the hardware of the PlayStation,
- 7:46like you couldn't load everything in the town.
- 7:48So it's like, OK, we'll put fog here.
- 7:49That way things can load hidden and you can like wonder.
- 7:53It's smart, it's smart. It's one of the many examples of
- 7:55having limitations and it ends up becoming something.
- 7:58Not a bug, but a feature. Exactly, like you actually make
- 8:01the most of your limitations, but for some reason when they
- 8:03were doing their like, hey, we can actually show everything now
- 8:06and it just kind of defeats the whole purpose of the whole
- 8:10thing. The whole thing is fog.
- 8:11Is like a big I. Mean it's a feature.
- 8:14It's in this movie. Not to not to spoil things too
- 8:19much, which if you haven't watched this movie yet, stop
- 8:22what you're doing right here. Go watch it and come back here
- 8:25because from this point on, all spoilers are happening.
- 8:29I knew that the fog was a big deal.
- 8:32I've often made jokes with very foggy mornings being like Silent
- 8:34Hill, which is just how pervasive this movie is in pop
- 8:37culture, even if you haven't seen it before.
- 8:41But when they got back to their house at the end and I was like
- 8:44why the fuck is it still foggy? It could be plausible, you know,
- 8:48up in Ohio it does get a bit foggy, but it's still, I mean,
- 8:52within the movie. It's just representative of the
- 8:55state of mind of living in Ohio. Yeah, it doesn't.
- 9:00The scenery doesn't change that much from West Virginia to Ohio,
- 9:02I guess. OK All right, all right.
- 9:06So we're going to get into it. Why did you pick this one?
- 9:10Well, I picked it because you had never seen this.
- 9:12I saw this in. Well, yeah, obviously I saw this
- 9:15back in theaters whenever it came out.
- 9:18But it's I like it. It's interesting.
- 9:20I like, I mean, you've made references to stuff like that
- 9:23before. You're familiar.
- 9:24But I wanted you to at least have like some experience with
- 9:27it other than PT, obviously, because that's like a you're not
- 9:30supposed to know it's a selling hill game until you've finished
- 9:34it. And it's a completely different
- 9:36approach to everything from that whole series from what I could
- 9:40tell. But yeah, I just, you know, I, I
- 9:43wanted you to finally see it, and I wanted us to do a video
- 9:46game adaptation finally. I don't think we've done one on
- 9:48the show before. We haven't done Resident Evil.
- 9:52That's true. The closest thing was Stay
- 9:54Alive, which isn't really accurate considering it's just
- 9:57based on a fictional video. Game, Yes.
- 9:59It's not actually an adaptation of a video game, Yeah.
- 10:02However, it is in the Muniz era, so it does get a pass.
- 10:06And I'm sorry for all of our Muniz era stands out there.
- 10:10We passed on Aminas era movie while we were out thrifting
- 10:15earlier this weekend that we unfortunately are not the proud
- 10:18owners of a DVD of Agent Cody Banks.
- 10:21Agent Cody Banks, if you want it on the show, let us know.
- 10:26We'll make it a horror movie. OK?
- 10:29So yeah, that's why, that's why I wanted to do this one.
- 10:34I'm really glad too, because now I have contacts for the really
- 10:38awesome pyramid cosplays that we see.
- 10:40I guarantee you we'll see another one this year.
- 10:42You always see them at Scarefest or in horror conventions.
- 10:45There was one. It was almost like last year, I
- 10:49don't know if you remember it, She did almost like a Lolita
- 10:52style period. Yeah, there was like a gender
- 10:54Pyramid Head type thing and she had her own flair to it.
- 10:57It was really well done. Yeah, it was, it was a it was AI
- 11:01love people that can twist things and add a spin like that
- 11:06onto them. So I thought that was really
- 11:07cool. Which, yeah, like he is a very
- 11:11cool character, very confusing character.
- 11:13But yes, we're we're going to get into all of that here.
- 11:16I have to see that that becomes like that.
- 11:19That character is brought back in the sequel.
- 11:21I feel like he's probably in every single one of them.
- 11:24Surely you can't. I mean, he's too iconic to leave
- 11:27out. You know, even if he doesn't
- 11:28belong, they'll they'll jam him in there.
- 11:31OK, so let's get into it all. Then yay.
- 11:34All right, so Silent Hill released April 21st.
- 11:39I accidentally wrote 2025, but it's actually 2006 is when that
- 11:43happened. We watched it on Peacock and if
- 11:47you want to watch it streaming wise, you can stream it on
- 11:49Peacock like we did or also Fubo TV.
- 11:52And if you don't have either of those options, you can rent it.
- 11:55You can rent it on Amazon, Apple TV, YouTube, and Fandango at
- 11:59home. Written by Roger Avery, directed
- 12:02by Christophe Ganz, music by Jeff Dana and Akira Yamakoa or
- 12:07Yamoka. Pardon me.
- 12:10Special effects makeup by Patrick Tatopoulos.
- 12:16Tatopoulos. Patrick Tatopoulos designs.
- 12:19There we go. I'm guessing but.
- 12:21I I think it just sounds a little bit better.
- 12:23Starring Rodda Mitchell as Rose, Sean Bean as Christopher, Laurie
- 12:28Holden as Sybil, Jodelle Frolin as Sharon and Alessa, Deborah
- 12:33Care of Unger as Dalia, and Alice Krieg as Christabella.
- 12:37OK, time for a favorite game on the show, Jesse.
- 12:40Budget or Buckton? I think just with everything
- 12:47like how involved this movie is, I'm gonna save Budget.
- 12:52Yeah, definitely a budget. This was 50 million.
- 12:55Dollars got damn. Yeah, and it looks every bit of.
- 12:59It Yeah, it does. Opening box office 20 million
- 13:03Worldwide gross 100 million. That's all.
- 13:06Yeah, it wasn't that impressive. Wow, surprising me for sure.
- 13:10IMDb score 6.5. OK, good.
- 13:13Pretty good. Good.
- 13:14All right, so I have 3 movies here from 2006 to compare to and
- 13:20we're just we're running to the hills but this right?
- 13:23Here, run into the hills. OK, run into the hills.
- 13:26Movie #1 The Hills Have Eyes that came out March 10th, 2006
- 13:32with a $15 million budget, worldwide gross of $70 million
- 13:36and an IMDb of 6.4. It's right on the hills of
- 13:40Silent Hill, on every aspect, right there.
- 13:43Yeah, right on the hills. Movie #2 it's the legend of
- 13:49Vipers Hill. OK that came out Halloween day
- 13:522006 with a budget of $5000. Nice.
- 13:56I don't have the gross but the IMDb is 5.6.
- 13:59I have no idea what this movie is but it had heal in the name
- 14:01so I went with. It all right.
- 14:04All right. And the final one.
- 14:05This is a stretch, but I have. Let me warm up.
- 14:09I got this OK. It's called the breed.
- 14:12However, this happens to have in a major role a man named Hill
- 14:17Harper, who is now a Democratic politician, mind you.
- 14:24So now he's on the hill. He's on the Hill.
- 14:26He's working his way to the Hill.
- 14:27I don't think he's made it quite there yet.
- 14:29He's trying to go for senator. I went to his Wikipedia page.
- 14:31I was kind of curious. I was like, if I'm going to make
- 14:33this stretch, I need to learn a little bit about this man.
- 14:36At least it's a well informed stretch.
- 14:38Yeah, that movie came out June 1st, 2006.
- 14:42Don't have any budget, but the worldwide gross is 1.6 million
- 14:46five .1 on IMDb. All right, it also starts Weddy.
- 14:51Oh, really? Yeah.
- 14:52She was gonna say Letty who? And then I realized Michelle
- 14:54Rodriguez. Yeah, Michelle Rodriguez, Yes.
- 14:57Does she? Does she ride a motorcycle?
- 15:02Too soon, Too soon. It's she doesn't get into that
- 15:07phase of her life until much later.
- 15:10OK, All right. So I've got a lot of tag lines.
- 15:14Yay, You know what? We've been starved for tag lines
- 15:18lately. Yeah, yeah.
- 15:22Wow, you went full Kermit with that.
- 15:23OK, I'm thinking these aren't going to be good tag lines.
- 15:26Well. It's more like empty calories.
- 15:28You got a lot of them, but it's just a lot of, you know, junk.
- 15:31Like my the the McDonald's Coke my sister treated me to
- 15:36yesterday like you need it sometimes, but this isn't
- 15:39actually doing much for me nutritionally.
- 15:41That and also whenever I'm like, do I need two more Oreos?
- 15:44Yes, but no, I really don't need two more Oreos.
- 15:48I got count on 11 tag lines here for us to go through.
- 15:51OK, All right, did. You actually write them all in?
- 15:54I sure did. Once I get past like 3 I just
- 15:57write. See screenshot.
- 15:58But they OK, but they're all. Small Oh oh wow.
- 16:02Yeah. So I was able to fit many on one
- 16:04line. OK, so the one that's on the
- 16:06poster, we've been expecting you.
- 16:10OK. Yeah, see, that's not bad.
- 16:12I like that as a poster. One there, the next one.
- 16:16Enjoy your stay. OK, OK.
- 16:21Third, the game is on. Nah, not bad.
- 16:26Yeah, like that one. You have to know that it's based
- 16:28on a video game, but it kind of works.
- 16:31Welcome to Silent Hill. And it's just like on the sign
- 16:35probably. I feel like that just needs to
- 16:37like you just have to have the welcome to above the title.
- 16:40Yeah, exactly. Yeah, the silence will be
- 16:44broken. That's pretty good, yeah.
- 16:47Like once you get to the the whole meat of the thing.
- 16:50Yeah, and there's this one. Not so silent anymore.
- 16:54Who's gonna? Quip right there, yeah.
- 16:56Damn, I'm surprised Alice Craig didn't say that to the little
- 17:00child she burned to death. Yeah, she should have.
- 17:03Yeah, which I need everybody to understand.
- 17:07We watch Alice Krieg in three movies and three movies only,
- 17:11but multiple times in a 2 month period each year.
- 17:16She is the Queen. In the Christmas.
- 17:19In the Christmas Princess trilogy on Netflix and that was
- 17:24all we could see in her it. Blew my mind whenever you told
- 17:27me that's who that was cuz I didn't see it until you said
- 17:30that and then it all came to me just like in a flash right
- 17:34there. Like holy shit that's the
- 17:35fucking Princess. That's the Queen.
- 17:36That's the Queen. Yeah, man.
- 17:38Yeah. Queen Aleen, right?
- 17:40I'm pretty sure that's her name. I think so, yeah.
- 17:42I don't know. OK, Next, once you enter Silent
- 17:49Hill, there's no turning back. That's also pretty true.
- 17:53Yeah, they they cool. But is it?
- 17:56I don't know. Christopher goes in there and
- 17:59makes it out OK. That's true.
- 18:02He wasn't in the limbo. Silent Hill.
- 18:04I've got some explanation for everything that went down there,
- 18:07just to kind of give context because it's a little confusing,
- 18:11but I'll get into that here in a little bit, OK?
- 18:13I've been thinking it over and I think I kind of understand it,
- 18:16but I think it'll be good to discuss.
- 18:18Yeah, for the show. Sure, welcome to hell.
- 18:23See, I thought it was more purgatory, but OK.
- 18:26Yeah, again, we'll get we'll. Talk about it more, maybe I
- 18:29don't understand it as well as I think there there's a.
- 18:31Little bit of hell, a little bit of hell.
- 18:33There's a smidge. A smidge.
- 18:35Some towns should never be entered.
- 18:37Yes. That's true.
- 18:40Welcome to paradise. Nah.
- 18:44I don't like that. And the final one, population 0.
- 18:50It's All in all caps spelled out 0.
- 18:53OK. It's quite a lot of people
- 18:55living in Silent Hill, in fact. Limboing in Silent Hill.
- 19:00That's paradise. Limbo it.
- 19:04Depends. One of those fucking cruises,
- 19:06you know what I mean? They always have limbo going on
- 19:08there. OK, OK.
- 19:11OK. I hope it's a good thing you're
- 19:14warmed up for the stretches. Yeah, thank you.
- 19:16Hey, I thought that was OK. That wasn't terrible.
- 19:19It's not the best word, but it's not.
- 19:20Worse. You know what though?
- 19:21Saying OK for one of your puns. That's a pretty decent
- 19:24compliment. That's true.
- 19:25That's true, actually. All right, so let's get into
- 19:29some fun facts. Yay.
- 19:31So our director here, Christophe Ganz, is a very, very big fan of
- 19:35the games. That's how he got the job for
- 19:38this movie, which is a good sign for video game adaptations
- 19:42because a lot of times you see a lot of these people take the job
- 19:46and they don't really care about the source material.
- 19:47They just want to make their own vision of like some loose idea
- 19:50of what they have. So, you know, we actually had
- 19:53somebody here who cared, which was very nice.
- 19:56He cared so much, actually, that he fought for the rights for
- 19:59five years. And he sent a 37 minutes video
- 20:03interview to Konami, who are the owners of the property Silent
- 20:08Hill, and included Japanese subtitles and everything.
- 20:11And he was just making his case for what he was wanting to do
- 20:14with the film series. And they saw that.
- 20:18And they're like, this guy gets it.
- 20:19He understands what this property is.
- 20:22He understands and he wants to do it right.
- 20:24So we're going to let him have it.
- 20:26Which kind of impressive. Konami is not exactly good.
- 20:31They since this all happened, they've had a lot of they've
- 20:35they've become a very greedy company and they don't really
- 20:39treat their properties very well.
- 20:40So it's kind of nice to see that they are actually they were
- 20:43actually caring about this one at one time.
- 20:46He originally wanted to adapt Silent Hill 2 as a story, but
- 20:53it's a, it's a more emotional story, which is what drew him to
- 20:56it. But it's not the real Silent
- 20:58Hill, as you like to call it. It's more of a backdrop, OK.
- 21:01And you can't really tell that story without providing any
- 21:04context for the location whatsoever, because it as cliche
- 21:10as it is to say, the place is actually a character.
- 21:13Oh yeah. More so than most times when
- 21:15people say that in this story here.
- 21:18So he he still wanted to do as faithful as an adaptation as
- 21:23possible. However, he got Roger Avery here
- 21:27to do the writing and Avery wanted to do more of an
- 21:31interpretation rather than an adaptation.
- 21:34And they were kind of at odds here a little bit every now and
- 21:36then. They ended up keeping some of
- 21:39the storylines and combining some others, kind of what you do
- 21:41with a lot of adaptations, like with books mostly.
- 21:45But Avery was just mostly wanting to capture the spirit of
- 21:48everything. I mean, they even went so far as
- 21:51to like create new characters with the film crew here.
- 21:55So like, it's not like we're not getting all of like the iconic
- 22:00monsters and stuff in this movie, but some of them are
- 22:02there. Some of them are creations using
- 22:05elements from the video game, but it's not 100% accurate, but
- 22:09it's as close as they could get. They actually hired professional
- 22:13dancers to play most of those monsters, by the way, which
- 22:17makes sense considering when you see the nurses and how they have
- 22:19to move in very interesting ways.
- 22:21Yes, that makes sense. And that's also really funny for
- 22:24me in my head. So the original script was
- 22:29rejected due to lack of male characters in it.
- 22:32The studio was not very much a fan of that decision, so.
- 22:38You never get a script rejected for lack of female characters.
- 22:41No, you don't. Yeah, but this actually made
- 22:45Ganz very infuriated because he really wanted it to be that.
- 22:49That's what the story should have been.
- 22:50Mother is God. However, he saw this as an
- 22:56opportunity to take advantage. Like with the video game, with
- 22:59the fog, they had to work with the limitations.
- 23:01He's like, OK, I'm going to use this right here and I'm going to
- 23:04tell something interesting. He is like, OK, I'm going to
- 23:08tell that story that kind of fucks with reality, like what
- 23:12they're doing with everything here.
- 23:13So they have like the opposing views of everything that's going
- 23:16on with Christopher and everything that's going on with
- 23:19Rose, and they ended up actually making it work into something
- 23:22that kind of benefited the movie overall.
- 23:25Yeah, it definitely helps. It helps explain the the
- 23:29different dimensions basically. It makes it more apparent.
- 23:32Yes, sure. We don't have to have it like
- 23:35outwardly explained, we were just seeing it.
- 23:37Exactly. And as a result of this, he
- 23:40ended up actually having to take some concepts from Silent Hill
- 23:43two and three, which he's like, I didn't really want to do that,
- 23:47but they were there now and it was too irresistible for me to
- 23:51not include that. So might as well just go ahead
- 23:53and go for everything while I can.
- 23:55And when this is all being made, fans were going to do what fans
- 24:00do. They were going to be very
- 24:02obnoxious with it, some of them a little bit more extreme than
- 24:04others. There's it was mostly Rodger
- 24:07Avery that was catching most of the Flack for this because he
- 24:09was riding it and he would get some mail from fans.
- 24:12Some of them would say that they are the only ones that could
- 24:16write the movie and that he has no business doing it and if he
- 24:20fucks it up they were going to find him and kill him.
- 24:24He got fucking death, man. People care deeply about this
- 24:29movie. They wanted it done right and he
- 24:31said I believe them. He actually believed that his
- 24:35life was in danger if he did not do this movie right.
- 24:38This I just think of Richie in screen 5 where he's like how can
- 24:43fandom be toxic? I know very, very easily,
- 24:47especially the gaming community. That's probably one of the more
- 24:50toxic communities out there. Probably the same dudes.
- 24:54We're like, hey, we need more dudes in this movie.
- 24:57Probably, yeah. Yeah, you tell me we're gonna
- 25:00have ladies in my video game movie.
- 25:04That's a bona fide chick flick at that point, nothing else.
- 25:09All right? And that's it for the fun facts
- 25:10I have. There's a shit load more.
- 25:12I don't have enough time or room on any of the things I can ride
- 25:16on. You could probably have like a
- 25:17dedicated podcast just to Silent Hill.
- 25:19Surely you could, yeah. Surely it exists?
- 25:22I yeah, I just wanted to try and capture the interesting things
- 25:25that are relevant for us in this discussion here.
- 25:28OK. Yeah, that sounds good.
- 25:30All right, so and Italia's, if you can't hear, telling us it's
- 25:34time to get started with our good, bad, ugly and absurd.
- 25:37So Jesse, you kick it off. What'd you like?
- 25:39Oh, man. OK, so I actually, I was writing
- 25:42down a lot of things because I knew it was going to be a couple
- 25:44days gap between watching and discussing.
- 25:49It's got a very scary atmosphere the whole time.
- 25:51Yeah, like you're immediately in that place.
- 25:54Like, OK, I don't feel good. Like just.
- 25:57Uneasy. Yeah.
- 25:57Money easy. There's a ton of what the fuck
- 26:00visuals and I think that like some of those are pretty
- 26:05hardcore. You have to remember this is the
- 26:07era of saw and hostile when people are like, oh, everything
- 26:12is just falling onto the jumping onto the torture porn craze.
- 26:17And in this movie, you've got things like people in barbed
- 26:22wire bondage. And yeah, there's just, Oh my
- 26:26God, there's a. Lot of upsetting imagery.
- 26:28There's a ton of upsetting imagery and just some some sick
- 26:33minded stuff in a complimentary. Yeah, exactly.
- 26:37We're coming up with these for for the I don't know how much of
- 26:40it came from the movie versus the video game, but whoever that
- 26:42source material should be credited to like that's
- 26:44disgusting. Good job.
- 26:47The very intriguing mystery that we're trying to solve throughout
- 26:50with all of this because I like, I love it when we're in a movie
- 26:54and we're placed into the same kind of what the fuck headspace
- 26:58as the character. Oh, I bet you, yeah.
- 26:59We're picking up the clues at the same time as rose and symbol
- 27:03and that doesn't really effective bit at getting you
- 27:07invested and same with figuring out the mystery of all of this.
- 27:11And they don't try and, like, hide stuff back.
- 27:12Like when we see the we hear about Alessa and Dalia says
- 27:16that's my Alessa. And then we see the pictures.
- 27:19Like, none of that comes as a shock.
- 27:20It's just like, OK, we're putting these clues together and
- 27:22they don't hold it back longer than they need you to be like,
- 27:24well, yeah. I mean she saw the picture and
- 27:26already said it like. Yeah.
- 27:27And that was one of those moments where I was like, oh,
- 27:29she's just like claiming anything as first type thing.
- 27:32And then I was like, Oh yeah, like the daughter.
- 27:35Like looks. Exactly the same as her
- 27:36daughter. Yeah, yes, I felt the pacing was
- 27:39phenomenal. At no point did it actually feel
- 27:42like it was a 2 hour movie. No.
- 27:44And I, I actually think it's really cool that this is a video
- 27:48game adaptation because the whole time I'm watching, I'm
- 27:49like, man, this would be a really fun video game to play.
- 27:51Yeah. I, I, I really, really want to
- 27:54like play the original 1. I need to find a way.
- 27:57I'm like, just whatever, I'm going to figure out how to play
- 27:59them the right way. And in kind of like falling onto
- 28:03all of that before, like the movie took pains to not over
- 28:06explain things as we're going along with it, like we're
- 28:09figuring out things at exactly the right times, exactly in pace
- 28:12with the characters. And I think that is really,
- 28:15really nice. Yeah.
- 28:18So overall, just like this is just a really effective movie
- 28:21for me. Good.
- 28:22I'm glad that it was effective for you.
- 28:25I was curious to see how you were gonna react to everything.
- 28:27I I did. If you guys didn't see our call
- 28:29for reviews, we did it a little bit differently than normal.
- 28:32It was just me saying what the fuck?
- 28:34Yeah. Please tell me what you all
- 28:35think. I did actually throw my pen at
- 28:38the end of this movie because I was like, yeah.
- 28:41It's another abrupt ending, yeah, But it was good.
- 28:45It was a good reaction. I won't necessarily say I think
- 28:49exactly why I said like, I don't know if the reaction was good,
- 28:52but I'm glad that you got a reaction.
- 28:54Yes. Because that, that was good.
- 28:56I'm glad that there was something there to react to that
- 28:58harshly. Like, we go through all of that
- 29:00and we do all of these things and they're still in limbo or
- 29:03purgatory or hell or paradise or whatever.
- 29:06Yeah, well, if it makes you feel any better, the sequel took six
- 29:10years to come. Now it came out in 2012.
- 29:12Oh man, you would have had to wait like a long time to figure
- 29:17out what the hell happened there.
- 29:18Or you could just play the games I guess.
- 29:20I guess, yeah, man, OK. All right, you got anything
- 29:23else? That's that's it.
- 29:25But I feel like it was a decently long list.
- 29:27Yeah, none of that's good. OK.
- 29:29Yeah. So I agree with a lot of what
- 29:31you said there, mostly like the exposition drops like are kind
- 29:36of just throughout we are picking up clues along with
- 29:38everybody else. I'm with you.
- 29:40I like starting off with a confused character and you're
- 29:43going along the journey with them.
- 29:45And yeah, it gets started like a right away.
- 29:47Like we don't spend a lot of time building up this back story
- 29:51of the family or the characters or anything like that.
- 29:53We just know she's having nightmares about this place
- 29:56called Silent Hill and the mother just decides that they're
- 29:59going to take her there and then that's it.
- 30:01And that's all that we really needed for this.
- 30:05I like how the game feels like it is progressing, like the
- 30:08video game, another game. The movie feels like it's
- 30:11progressing like a video game. It has things like, OK, like,
- 30:14you know, you're arriving in town, you just, like, have some
- 30:17sudden weird shit happen to you. And then, like, you find a map
- 30:21and then somebody gives you a flashlight.
- 30:23You know what I mean? It's like all the queues that
- 30:25always happens in video games, but it happens organically in
- 30:28the movie. And it feels at home here.
- 30:31Like, it feels like it works. And I liked how they handled the
- 30:36parallel between Christopher and Rose in this because that was
- 30:42just such a good way to get that across.
- 30:45And it made for like a really interesting story because I feel
- 30:48like if you didn't have that, like it adds like this other
- 30:51like, what the fuck for like a like a tension to it.
- 30:55Like, you know, something's off and everything fills off already
- 30:59in this place. But that's like an extra bit of
- 31:01like, well, something is clearly very wrong here.
- 31:05Like what the hell is happening? And it kind of gets you a little
- 31:07a little bit more invested in what's going on and.
- 31:10Then it helps us bring in that cop too.
- 31:12Yeah, Sybil. No, the other one.
- 31:14Yeah, the other one Gucci. Gucci Mane.
- 31:16Gucci as I put them in my notes. Gucci.
- 31:18Yeah, that's funny. Anytime he said Gucci, I was
- 31:20like, is he like complimenting something or like.
- 31:22Gucci. Gucci, like he finds the fuss
- 31:24like, ah, Gucci like he's just excited about it.
- 31:29Do you want me to go ahead and review the thing that I was
- 31:32talking about before about like all of the the dimensions that
- 31:36we're in with this right here when since we're already kind of
- 31:38on topic or do you want to go about that?
- 31:40Let's do it as we're going through the movie, OK?
- 31:43Explain it as it makes sense when we go through it.
- 31:44OK, I got you. OK, so that's it for the goods.
- 31:48What about bats? Honestly, I really don't have a
- 31:51lot of bats about this. Really.
- 31:53OK. Yeah, I like I said, I thought
- 31:56the pacing was really good. It didn't over explain things.
- 32:00I mean, maybe we did have a little bit of like like over
- 32:06expositioning at the end with Dark Alessa.
- 32:09That would probably be like my biggest strike against it, but
- 32:14that's about it. OK, yeah, that was one of my big
- 32:17things too. It drops everything.
- 32:19It it becomes all tell no show at the very end.
- 32:22Cutscene. Unskippable cutscene.
- 32:25Yeah, you're right. Yeah.
- 32:26Like, instead of letting the game progress and you, like,
- 32:30play it through, like here, we're just going to tell you
- 32:32everything. And yeah, I think it hurts it a
- 32:35little bit there at the end. I feel like the movie is a
- 32:40little bit confusing though, too.
- 32:42Like, it takes a while for you to, like, get everything.
- 32:45But like, even as you're watching it, it's still kind of
- 32:47confusing. It's hard to follow at times.
- 32:50They asked you to stay with it all the way to the very end,
- 32:53pretty much to even have the slightest clue of what's
- 32:56happening. And that's a pretty tough ask
- 32:58for a 2 hour movie. But you know, I guess it depends
- 33:02if like being confused is OK with you.
- 33:05You know, I, I, I don't mind being confused in a little bit
- 33:09unsure of what's going on with my movies, but I know a lot of
- 33:11people are also not really into that.
- 33:14And there were times where I'm like, I really don't know what
- 33:17the hell is happening, but like, I have a feeling I'm gonna
- 33:19figure it out. But it's still very confusing
- 33:21seeing what's happening right now.
- 33:24It kind of gave me endings of like books that I really love,
- 33:28where like things aren't necessarily all completely
- 33:31resolved because these characters are still characters
- 33:33that have to go on and live their lives after the events of
- 33:35everything. And you have a sense of wanting
- 33:38to know what happened, but you have closure from the main meat
- 33:42of the story. But things are still open for
- 33:44what the future could be. And that's kind of how it how
- 33:46the ending made me feel. OK, yeah, I I could see that.
- 33:50Yeah. OK, Well then ugly.
- 33:52What do you have? Ugly.
- 33:54OK, the the witch. Trial.
- 33:56Yeah. Witch hunts.
- 33:59I I'm not going to rehash one of our earliest episodes, but that
- 34:05has long been cited by listeners as a favorite, even though it
- 34:09was like a very old format for quality.
- 34:11Yeah, the witch. I went into a lot of background
- 34:14on the witch trials and that's like, this is based on actual
- 34:20history and it's fucked up. Yeah, yeah.
- 34:23I forgot how much they went into like the whole witch hunt type
- 34:26thing in this movie. I remembered them being like
- 34:29held up at like, like on posts at the end of the movie, but I
- 34:33couldn't remember the context of everything.
- 34:35And I was like, Oh yeah, it's like a cult.
- 34:37So the actress that plays Sybil, she is also in The Mist as the
- 34:42character Amanda. Which means that she has been in
- 34:46two supernatural semi apocalyptic horror movies where
- 34:50she's not only facing the demons of a parallel dimension, but she
- 34:54is also dealing with a religious zealot who wants to kill a child
- 34:57to appease adventure God. Also low visibility, natural
- 35:03occurrences, mist or fog. Yeah.
- 35:05So that's what a niche, what a niche to have.
- 35:08Good for her, I liked her character.
- 35:10Why in this movie? All right, Yeah.
- 35:13I mean, it's really hard to, you know, go against what you said
- 35:17there. Yeah.
- 35:21Shit. Yeah.
- 35:27You know, I, I think it's really fucked up that they they did it
- 35:31to this child, especially the whole.
- 35:32Yeah, purifying them by burning them to death is fucking crazy.
- 35:36Yeah, you're not purifying any of that.
- 35:38You're just murdering or semi murdering.
- 35:42Yeah, it ended up you basically created a cinebite at the end of
- 35:47the movie there. No, they basically created a
- 35:51What's his face from the burning?
- 35:56Cropsy. Cropsy.
- 35:58Are you kidding me? No man, the like the fucking
- 36:01Alyssa erupts from the floor at the end of the movie with like
- 36:04all of these like fucking like vine shit and barbed wire and
- 36:09that's fucking hellraiser if I've ever seen it.
- 36:13OK, she is cropsy as a Cinnabite.
- 36:16There we go. I can.
- 36:17I'll be OK with that right there.
- 36:18I just felt like her motivation is.
- 36:21Being burned to death. And yeah, yeah, that's really
- 36:24more what I was getting at. OK, I got you.
- 36:28OK, Absurd. OK, I have two, both of them I
- 36:33laughed out loud during the movie.
- 36:34So these won't be new moments for you.
- 36:37But the first one is when Rose and Sybil are reunited at the
- 36:41attack of Pyramid Head. And she was like, Sybil's
- 36:45yelling at Rose to hand her a pipe and she's taking too long
- 36:48to get it. And I was like, Sybil, she is
- 36:50still handcuffed with your cuffs.
- 36:53Yeah, and she was trying to tell you everything and you could
- 36:55not. Listen and then second of all,
- 36:59the visual of the nurse very spooky.
- 37:02I get ready. It's a common Causeway, however,
- 37:06they looked like a thriller flash mob.
- 37:09Yeah, they did, yeah. And so when you said that they
- 37:13were all dancers, I was like, well, that makes sense.
- 37:16Yeah, OK. My absurd was I thought it was
- 37:22fucking amazing. Every time Anna sees Dahlia, she
- 37:25just goes and grabs rocks and throws.
- 37:28Like every time in this movie that they're in a room together,
- 37:31she just like, gets rocks and it's just throwing them at
- 37:33Dahlia, man. It's also kind of really fucked
- 37:37up that Rose basically got Anna killed or super murdered, I
- 37:42don't know, because they're all in like limbo or purgatory or
- 37:44whatever. How did she, though?
- 37:45She didn't have to stay out there.
- 37:47They could have all just ran back herself, you know, like she
- 37:50just like what Queen Christmas Prince said.
- 37:55She had. She's a grown up.
- 37:56She had her own choice there. She made her own decision.
- 37:59And yeah, all right. I think we can rate this now.
- 38:04OK. What do you give this?
- 38:06I'm going to give this a nine. I can't believe I've never seen
- 38:09it. It's so.
- 38:10Good, glad that you liked it. I'm giving a 8 1/2.
- 38:13OK, I like this movie a lot too. It's nice whenever we have good
- 38:17video game adaptations. 8.75. 8.75 Good shit.
- 38:23All right. Well, we're going to get into it
- 38:25then. We start off immediately with
- 38:29Rose and Christopher looking for their daughter Sharon.
- 38:32She has run out or walked out as a sleepwalker.
- 38:37Rose is just following her like barefoot in her jammies, and
- 38:42they live in a dangerous landscape for a chronic
- 38:45sleepwalker. Right next to a road which is
- 38:48right next to a Cliff. Yeah, over a waterfall.
- 38:52And Sharon manages. Sharon is like right there at
- 38:54the ledge and she's about, she's seeing what essentially I guess
- 38:58is like kind of a coal mine type.
- 39:01Yeah, she's getting visuals of Silent Hill down.
- 39:04There. Yeah.
- 39:04And she's about to, like, just fall forward.
- 39:06And when Rose knocks her down and save certain, Sharon
- 39:11basically says Silent Hill. And this isn't the first time
- 39:14she's sent it. So Rose and Sharon later are
- 39:17talking, and Rose explains to Sharon that she is a
- 39:21sleepwalker. And I'm just going to say, this
- 39:23is a sleepwalker. There are other things you can
- 39:26do before, like trying to uncover your traumatic history.
- 39:29Like start with a high up lock on the door.
- 39:33Yeah. For me for me, a sleeping mask
- 39:38has been actually really efficient at helping with my
- 39:40sleepwalking. It really has actually done
- 39:43wonders. This feels like an extreme case,
- 39:47though, where she's had many situations like this in the past
- 39:50where she just keeps talking about Silent Hill and it's
- 39:53getting them, the parents concerned.
- 39:55Yes. So she's like, you know what,
- 39:57I'm taking you to Silent Hill. We're going there, You're going
- 40:00to confront whatever it is. And that is kind of that's crazy
- 40:03that she jumped straight to that.
- 40:04Like you're confronting your trauma.
- 40:06And Christopher is like, how about we confront her trauma
- 40:09with a therapist, get some medication and Rose like Nope,
- 40:14they'll lock her up. That's generally not the first
- 40:18most credible counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists,
- 40:25what not they want to do like and this is true for like all
- 40:28facets of medicine, but you want to do the least invasive
- 40:31treatment method first, which would not be immediately like
- 40:35unless you're a danger to yourself or others would not be
- 40:38putting you in any kind of a hold.
- 40:41But you know, we also wouldn't have a movie.
- 40:44True also. In like the in the mid 2000s
- 40:48where like throughout the general public mental health
- 40:52stuff wasn't quite as you know, seen as normal I.
- 40:56Guess yeah, it wasn't talked about as openly and it was very,
- 40:59very heavily stigmatized, which feels weird saying because
- 41:02there's definitely still a lot of stigma nowadays, but it's
- 41:05actually gotten better. People are way more educated
- 41:07about it all now though at least.
- 41:10And Rose, to her credit, like she doesn't leave it out for
- 41:14Christopher, but she leaves her laptop open.
- 41:17Yeah, I mean, she's still kidnapping their child.
- 41:22Yeah, and she won't answer the phone when he tries to call.
- 41:24He stumbles upon it and sees Silent Hill, West Virginia.
- 41:28That's where they're going. And.
- 41:29He reads through what looks like a haunted.
- 41:35Article. No, it looks like a website
- 41:40promoting AM like a haunted ghost tour.
- 41:44That's that's what I was trying. To think of.
- 41:45OK. Like like what we did in
- 41:47Charleston. Yeah, yeah, OK.
- 41:49Basically like that. And he's like reading the
- 41:51history of the town and he's like, this is not like a place
- 41:55where you should bring our daughter in.
- 41:57Yeah, I think that's that's the right call.
- 42:01But she's she's against it. She's taking her.
- 42:03And they are on the outskirts of the town.
- 42:06They're stopping at a gas station, gassing up.
- 42:09Rose takes a look at Sharon's drawings.
- 42:11Sharon is a She's a little artist, but some of her drawings
- 42:14have like blackness over top of them and she wakes her up and
- 42:18she's like, hey, look what you did to your drawings.
- 42:20And she's like, I didn't do this.
- 42:21Yeah, we saw the 1st is a very normal happy drawing and then
- 42:24all of a sudden it became a very scary, not happy drawing.
- 42:27And this actress, like she, we've actually talked about her
- 42:31in the show before. Believe it or not, she is
- 42:33Patience Buckner and Cabin in the Woods.
- 42:36She's also preed Hanner in Twilight Socket Eclipse.
- 42:39Yeah, this right here is probably the biggest role.
- 42:42Yeah, she does a really good job.
- 42:43I thought she held her own really well as a good child
- 42:45actor. And that's a This is a hard role
- 42:48for a child actor because she's playing 2.
- 42:51Characters, and one of them is very demented, yes.
- 42:54Yeah. So Rose goes inside the pay for
- 42:58gas. When we see Sybil, the cop on
- 43:01the motorcycle is also at the gas station.
- 43:03She's kind of suspicious of the mom.
- 43:06So she goes over to the van and she's like, hey, are you safe
- 43:10with this woman? And she goes, don't talk to
- 43:12strangers. And Sybil's like, good job.
- 43:15And inside, Rose is asking the clerk how to get to Silent Hill
- 43:20because it's not on the maps. And she said the roads don't go
- 43:22there anymore. What the fuck does that mean?
- 43:26Whatever you want it to mean, they can mean anything.
- 43:29And the clerk also tells her that her card's being rejected
- 43:32because Christopher cut off their cards.
- 43:34That was a surefire way to get her to call him back.
- 43:37And you know what she did? Yeah, it works.
- 43:39She calls and they discussed that the adoption people said
- 43:46that she is from West Virginia, so they.
- 43:49And Silent Hills in West Virginia?
- 43:50Exactly so. They're kind of putting the
- 43:52pieces together. Yeah, the meds basically aren't
- 43:55working. So Rose is just like, we're just
- 43:58going to go to the sources. Yeah, and after driving away,
- 44:01Sybil writes down the license plate on the car as they are
- 44:04driving. And she ends up catching up with
- 44:07them and starts to pull them over.
- 44:10And Rose realizes this is not going to actually, I don't
- 44:15really know what she's really this.
- 44:16Is incredibly short sighted right here.
- 44:17She's just making a very poor decision, She.
- 44:20She tells Sharon to buckle up and to stay buckled.
- 44:23Yeah, and then she just fores it.
- 44:24She thinks that she can outrun this cop.
- 44:27But like, what is this cop? Like, that's her daughter.
- 44:30Like, what's the cop going to do?
- 44:32Unless. Unless Christopher filed A
- 44:35kidnapping. Yeah.
- 44:37Which I. Don't think was the case.
- 44:38Yeah. If it was, it wasn't ever shown
- 44:41or said. But yeah, like she just decided,
- 44:45she becomes immediately suspicious and force it, and
- 44:48this starts a chase. She turns down the way that
- 44:52marks Silent Hill. However, once they approach a
- 44:54bridge, there's a gate that she drives right through, crosses
- 44:58the bridge, and as soon as she crosses the bridge, she sees
- 45:00what looks like a person in the middle of the road.
- 45:03She swerves, ends up wrecking, knocks herself out on the
- 45:06steering wheel. Yep and when she comes to it's
- 45:10foggy and what I assumed was snow at first but actually it's
- 45:13ash. Sharon is gone so she walks to
- 45:17town and everything seems empty and dude look up like abandoned
- 45:23towns on YouTube. This shit actually does happen.
- 45:27It's really scary, but remember the one video we watched about
- 45:30the abandoned grocery store? Yeah, it's gross.
- 45:33Yeah, it's really nasty. So those are real things that
- 45:36happen and we hear like a klaxon siren go off and darkness just
- 45:45like descends super quickly. At first I did not realize that
- 45:47this was darkness descending. I thought it was like a
- 45:49transition, a scene transition. That's what I thought was, too.
- 45:52Yeah. She, she saw what looked like
- 45:54Sharon in the distance and chase after her.
- 45:56And she LED her down these stairs.
- 45:58And as she went down to the bottom of the stairs, it kind of
- 46:01got dark. And it looks like she's in an
- 46:03old warehouse. And then once I learned that
- 46:05this town was a mining town and had mining fires, I assumed
- 46:08maybe this was meant to more like to like the mines that.
- 46:11'D be an interesting way to do that directly underneath the
- 46:15town, Yeah, interesting. That was just kind of my like
- 46:19assumption. I don't.
- 46:20I also don't know what mines look like on the inside.
- 46:22I'm only informed by movies and I don't know how I care what the
- 46:26movies are. I, I don't know if that's what
- 46:29they're going for here or not, but it's spooky down there.
- 46:32She's wandering around and she sees.
- 46:35Someone mounted on a fence. Yeah.
- 46:38With barbed wire and nastiness. And then she's chased by these
- 46:41like mulling mutants that are just burning from the inside
- 46:45out. Yeah, they were like babies.
- 46:48I think they were like toddlers at least.
- 46:52And they chase her into this. Room.
- 46:54And as soon as they get her surrounded, they all just burn
- 46:58up until ashes or whatever and dissipate.
- 47:02And then Sharon, I don't know, Rose.
- 47:05Rose immediately. No, I agree with you.
- 47:07Because Rose is a child's name. Sharon is an adult's name.
- 47:09Yeah, you can't have a child named Sharon.
- 47:10What the hell? It's hard.
- 47:12It's hard. I keep getting confused which I
- 47:14say that knowing is Sharon, but I know that Sharon is an adult.
- 47:16That's true. I never.
- 47:18I don't believe she was. I don't believe she was Sharon
- 47:20when she was a child, probably. Not if you are.
- 47:25She wakes up and it's daytime again.
- 47:28It's no longer dark out and Ring of Fire is playing on the radio.
- 47:32Yeah, which we now know the significance of that as a song,
- 47:39but before it's just like people in West Virginia listen to
- 47:44Johnny Cash. Yeah, you know, he bops down
- 47:47there. People like.
- 47:48Him, he bops everywhere. Honestly, that's true.
- 47:51She's now in a bowling alley. This is where she's waking up.
- 47:54It's in a bowling alley. She runs outside and to the
- 47:59literal edge of town where there's a woman named Dalia.
- 48:03And Dalia saying that she has also lost her daughter.
- 48:06Everybody has lost their children.
- 48:08Hers was Alessa. And Rose has a Locket with
- 48:11Sharon's picture in it. And she's like, well, this is my
- 48:13daughter, have you seen her? And Dalia says, that's mine,
- 48:15She's mine. Christopher.
- 48:18Meanwhile, in another dimension, he is at a gas station.
- 48:22And he asked the mechanic where Silent Hill is.
- 48:26He says it's closed due to a fire that had happened and the
- 48:32mines under the town and it created toxic fumes and nobody
- 48:35could survive them. Underground coal fire sounds
- 48:37badass. The fact that it's still burning
- 48:40is crazy. Yeah, also like that would be a
- 48:43cool band name. Underground coal fire.
- 48:45Coal fire? Yeah, that would be Rose makes
- 48:48it back to her car. She tries to call Chris on her
- 48:52end. She feels like she gets through,
- 48:53but we're going to see later. Chris listens to the message and
- 48:56it's just. Jumbled.
- 48:58Yeah, her car won't start and then Sybil pops up and is
- 49:03bleeding from her helmet and this is the first moment where I
- 49:06was like, I feel like maybe they're not all 100% alive
- 49:09anymore cuz she and hit her head pretty hard inside that helmet.
- 49:15Yeah, I don't entirely know. OK, here I'm just gonna read the
- 49:19thing. OK all right, this seems like a
- 49:21good place to put this thing cuz this is like I said, this is
- 49:24where I started having my understanding but things were
- 49:27not 100% what they. Seemed OK, this is all just like
- 49:29a snapshot from the Wikipedia article.
- 49:31OK, so I'm just gonna read it as is.
- 49:35An integral part of Silent Hill universe is the reality and
- 49:38unreality of the city. Silent Hill exists
- 49:40simultaneously in four different variations.
- 49:43The city of the 70's, the Silent Hill of Present, Silent Hill in
- 49:47the fog, and Silent Hill in the darkness.
- 49:50Two of the above measurements are based on temporal changes.
- 49:52One represents the city of 30 years ago and is used only in
- 49:56flashbacks. The other displays the current
- 49:58state of the city, to which Christopher goes in search of
- 50:00his wife and daughter. The 2 remaining dimensions
- 50:03include a foggy day in which Rose searches for her daughter,
- 50:06symbolizing purgatory, and a gloomy day consisting of
- 50:09enveloping darkness, which is the embodiment of hell.
- 50:13Gaines reported that in his work he discovered to or he tried to
- 50:16discover new dimensions of the space and time in metaphysical
- 50:19and mystical aspects. He stated We're not trying to
- 50:22explain everything. As I prefer people to find
- 50:24meaning in the story themselves. It is much more pleasant to
- 50:27enjoy the understatement. It's kind of a playful
- 50:30invitation to be smart. So it's kind of up to your
- 50:33interpretation. But you were kind of right with
- 50:36what the game was saying, where it's a purgatory and then there
- 50:40is hell whenever the darkness comes.
- 50:42And then, yeah, I guess they are dead at this point because, I
- 50:46mean. There's a pretty nasty crashes
- 50:49for all three of them. Yeah.
- 50:50So. OK.
- 50:54All right, then. All right.
- 50:56Sybil carries. Not that she is dead only, but
- 51:00Rose has broken the law. Yeah.
- 51:02Yeah. So she tries to arrest.
- 51:04Her and after death she tries to uphold the law.
- 51:08And they she talks about this. This was something that I wish
- 51:12we had a little bit. They kept talking about this
- 51:14kidnapper that dropped a boy down event.
- 51:16And I thought we were going to get more pay off for that
- 51:18because Sybil mentions it and Gucci Mane mentions it.
- 51:21Yeah. And that's all it is just
- 51:24mentioning. And I thought because it was the
- 51:26same case that was brought over again and again that it would
- 51:28have more significance. I.
- 51:29Think they were only doing that because of like why Sybil is so
- 51:33invested, why she wanted to make sure the kid was OK because she
- 51:38was trying to save a kid at one point.
- 51:41And I she probably felt responsible for that child
- 51:45because they they talked about how hard Sybil took the whole
- 51:48thing whenever that originally happened.
- 51:51So I think that just is like why she's caring so much about Rose.
- 51:54Rose, fuck Sharon, I get that, and if she had left it as just
- 51:58her telling them that would be fine, but it's just weird that
- 52:01that's the same story that yeah, gets retold later.
- 52:04Yeah, like. So she tries to make the call on
- 52:07her radio and that's not working.
- 52:10They are going to walk back to Bram's and the road stops.
- 52:16I wish they'd just done what Rose and Sharon do at the end
- 52:20and just. They could have.
- 52:21Continued on. Which is kind of cool because
- 52:23like that's just like, it's a hidden Rd. there.
- 52:26You could have kept going, but they just didn't think they
- 52:28could. Yeah, so she's like, well,
- 52:31there's a radio tower over there, and that's where we're
- 52:33going to go to. And Rose is like, you don't
- 52:36understand, My daughter's a sleepwalker.
- 52:38She's lost somewhere in this town.
- 52:39We have to find her. And then we have a monster just
- 52:44come out of nowhere and approaches Sybil and it starts
- 52:48erupting blood that is also acid.
- 52:50Yeah. Gets her helmet and starts to
- 52:53like disintegrate it, so she tosses that off and just lights
- 52:55it up and instead. Yeah, and in the middle of this
- 52:59fight, Rose runs off. She makes it to school and finds
- 53:02a flashlight. Then we cut back to the present
- 53:07day dimension. We got Gucci with Chris and they
- 53:11try and make a call or they drive through the town and
- 53:15they're calling from like a megaphone or whatever on the car
- 53:18to Rose. Gucci's doing the talking and
- 53:21Chris is like, why wouldn't you want me to do the talking if
- 53:23you're trying to find her? And Gucci goes 9 times out of 10
- 53:26when a woman, her child, run away from the husband without
- 53:28telling him about it, it's because they were trying to get
- 53:30away from him. And Chris, like I can guarantee
- 53:34you that's what's happening here.
- 53:35And Gucci's like that's what they all say it.
- 53:38Doesn't sound like it's very Gucci and the Christopher
- 53:41Allisol does it? The De Silva.
- 53:46So Rose hears the sound and starts to investigate.
- 53:49She sees inside one of the classrooms that there are
- 53:53handprints on the desk. Yes, and underneath the
- 53:56handprints like in the desk was carved which.
- 53:59Yeah, and she also sees some paperwork from somebody named
- 54:02Alyssa. We learn that she grew up in
- 54:06this town and it all was evacuated after a fire in the
- 54:11coal mines, supposedly. But things happen so fast and
- 54:15everybody was evacuated so quickly, and a lot of people
- 54:17didn't make it out in time. And the fire was so bad that,
- 54:21like, bodies weren't ever even fully recovered.
- 54:25Rose in the school is trying to find, is trying to catch up to
- 54:28this little girl who she keeps seeing glimpses of and she ends
- 54:32up running into. I can't.
- 54:35Oh, yeah. Well, she's in the bathroom
- 54:37first. She's in the bathroom.
- 54:38She sees somebody again, like bound up.
- 54:43And, yeah, barbed wire. It has, like, the message
- 54:45written above. It's like a double dare you.
- 54:47Yeah. And then she, like, reaches in
- 54:48and grabs something from its mouth.
- 54:50Yeah. It's like a little note in
- 54:51there. Yes, and it was like a sign for
- 54:53a motel and she's about to leave the bathroom.
- 54:56There are what looked to be, I was kind of referring to them as
- 54:59hunters. They're in miners, coal miners
- 55:03gear, and it seems like they're hunting, It seems like they're
- 55:06doing something in the purpose of like this daytime version of.
- 55:11They're like scavenging or something.
- 55:13Probably trying to like stay alive while it's daylight.
- 55:16Yeah. And so she doesn't want to go
- 55:18out there with them because she doesn't, she doesn't know who
- 55:20they are. So she is.
- 55:24She walks herself in the bathroom and as she locks
- 55:27herself, the thing that was in the stall comes to life and
- 55:31crawls out. The well, so we, we're starting
- 55:35to get hints that these these people are from this place
- 55:38because they have a Canary with them.
- 55:39Again, we've got that mining imagery.
- 55:41The Canary starts acting up and they're like, OK, we got to get
- 55:44out of here. Then we have that klaxon going
- 55:45off again, and then the wall just seems like it's kind of
- 55:49changing the the person that was in the bathroom stall comes out
- 55:53and is making its way down the hall and it's like basically
- 55:57infecting the wall in the floor is how I wrote it.
- 55:59I wrote it as like corrupting. Like everything it touches, it
- 56:01corrupts. Yeah.
- 56:03It becomes kind of rusty, but it also is like the imagery of
- 56:07everything on the wall is like it's going up in flames, Yes,
- 56:09like a piece of paper, like it just is just being engulfed.
- 56:13And so Rose runs, and she sees the minor hunters.
- 56:17Oh, that sounds bad. She sees the hunters being eaten
- 56:21by not rats, but giant roaches it.
- 56:27Yeah, sorry, I just not got what you were talking about with
- 56:29minor hunters. Yeah, that was that's it looks
- 56:35different on my paper. It's a very unfortunate
- 56:41homophone. I'm sorry, OK.
- 56:43Yeah, there's some. Big, big roaches down there.
- 56:46So she sees Sharon Alessa, small child drawing, drawing that
- 56:54she'd made, and then she sees the child itself who falls and
- 56:58then Pyramid Head pops up. Then we're having some like
- 57:02interstitial link between Rose and Chris in the same spots of
- 57:06the town. Yeah, she runs past where he's
- 57:09standing and he's like, I felt something, Like I there's
- 57:13something there. And I caught a whiff of her
- 57:15perfume, too. She's around here somewhere, so
- 57:18there's some kind of connection here still.
- 57:20If I were in a different dimension, do you think you
- 57:22would be able to sense me? Yes, definitely.
- 57:24Do you think you'd smell my perfume?
- 57:26Yeah, I think I could. OK, Yeah.
- 57:30You better. Oh yeah.
- 57:32There's a good chance this could happen.
- 57:34I sleepwalk. I know I'm prepared.
- 57:36We're so close to why? Do you think that I chose this
- 57:39movie? Yeah.
- 57:44And Gucci's like, that's not Gucci, dude.
- 57:46That's just not happening, bro. I just like the idea of like,
- 57:52yeah. We were talking about our now
- 57:56old ass slang this morning because our nephew. 6/7.
- 58:01Yeah, he wrote Brownie 6-7 and we were laughing.
- 58:03And the Travis goes, actually, that's new, new generation
- 58:07slang. I actually said it without like,
- 58:09it's like, it's what the kids are saying, these kids.
- 58:12Like, I mean, we died a little inside.
- 58:13I hate that I had to say it like that, but yeah, like that's what
- 58:16the kids, the children are saying.
- 58:18I hate that you had to say it, but also at the same time my
- 58:20body hurts just from going to a festival for a few hours
- 58:23yesterday. I know.
- 58:25Yeah, we're. We're decrepit.
- 58:27We are. Throw us in the purgatory, the
- 58:30roaches come for Rose and Sybil saves her and they remove the
- 58:35cuffs and then pyramid head just like cuts through that door like
- 58:37it's nothing with his giant ass blade.
- 58:39Yeah, he's got the Buster Sword. And they're just basically doing
- 58:43all they can to avoid being hit by him and the roaches that are
- 58:46crawling in die and the building rebuilds itself.
- 58:50Yeah, shoots up his arm too. He like removes the little wok
- 58:53thing but I. Think I really thought we would
- 58:55see more of him in this movie. Yeah, he's a big figure, but I
- 59:00don't know if he has like a lot of story behind him.
- 59:04I don't know. I've not played the game so I
- 59:05can't say it one way or another. Rose says that they need to find
- 59:09Sharon before the darkness happens again.
- 59:12And Sybil's like, Yep, all right, I'm, you know, I I
- 59:15believe you now that something weird is happening because.
- 59:18Yeah. Yeah, I mean, can you?
- 59:20Can't argue this. Stomp a big ass fucking rose
- 59:24Rose. Roach, so Gucci tells Chris that
- 59:29the cops will stay back South Hill.
- 59:31Don't come back. Don't do it.
- 59:36Don't, and instead Chris calls to try and get archives from
- 59:42Silent Hill. It's like the county.
- 59:43Yeah, yeah, he's trying to figure out what went down.
- 59:46There and they're like we cannot give those to you it's.
- 59:48Classified so he gets big mad. FOIA.
- 59:53Yeah, Freedom of Information, buddy.
- 59:56Rose and Sybil hear Anna yelling at Dalia saying Dalia was cast
- 1:00:02out and that designers just and that sinners deserve to lose
- 1:00:07their spawn. Damn, pretty harsh.
- 1:00:10Damn, religious fanaticism is not kind.
- 1:00:13It is not. Christabella keeps her safe and
- 1:00:17they have refuge in the church and where they're yelling at
- 1:00:21Rose finds more hotel peace clues and finds a drawing in a
- 1:00:26box for room 111. Meanwhile, Chris, which if
- 1:00:33you're going to have it by a guy named Chris de Bella, why
- 1:00:35couldn't we have given generic white dude any other generic
- 1:00:39white dude name? Dave, Like Sean Bean.
- 1:00:43Seen Bean, His name is already super generic.
- 1:00:45Let him be. Let him be Sean.
- 1:00:47Yeah. You know what's funny though?
- 1:00:49The whole thing about his character is like, he always
- 1:00:51dies and people make fun of him for that, but he's the only one
- 1:00:53that lives here. He's like he's the left one in
- 1:00:55the living world. He breaks into the Bram's
- 1:01:00Archives building and finds a bunch of like, burnt files that
- 1:01:05were never like they're just sitting in a room.
- 1:01:07That room has to smell. Accurate.
- 1:01:10Yeah. Are we sure this isn't in the
- 1:01:12fucking Texas County where Texas Chainsaw Massacre goes?
- 1:01:17Well, there were newspaper clippings in these these
- 1:01:21archives. Maybe he just moved to another
- 1:01:23department. Yeah, in West Virginia, he finds
- 1:01:26a photo of Alessa, who looks just like Sharon, with notes of
- 1:01:30kidnapping and assault. And he goes.
- 1:01:34Yeah, so he calls the orphanage and he's like, all right, give
- 1:01:37me the address. And they're like, we cannot do
- 1:01:40that. Well, he goes to the orphanage
- 1:01:42before they say that, but there is no room 111 in this hotel.
- 1:01:47The founder of the But they do find out that the founders of
- 1:01:49the town were witch hunters and this makes Rose mad.
- 1:01:53So she decides to destroy art, and behind the art she notices.
- 1:01:57Behind the art there was a very similar drawing to what Sharon
- 1:02:02had done. She's like, this is it.
- 1:02:04It's got to be behind there. Yeah.
- 1:02:05And so she cuts through it. There's room 111, so they go in
- 1:02:09there, which then takes them to windows.
- 1:02:12They have to like, jump between buildings into different
- 1:02:15windows. Yeah.
- 1:02:17Sees the little girl crying. Yeah, and she tries to go
- 1:02:23towards her and then she emulates and Sybil and Anna
- 1:02:28managed to catch up with her and Rose says that it was a lesser
- 1:02:32that caused the crash. And Anna says they don't speak
- 1:02:35that name. Then we start hearing birds
- 1:02:37going come on, and Anna says darkness is coming, must run to
- 1:02:41the church refuge. And as they're getting there,
- 1:02:43the siren starts playing. The siren is coming from the
- 1:02:45church. So that was interesting to me
- 1:02:49that the church actually established that siren system.
- 1:02:52Yeah. I just assumed the town was just
- 1:02:55like. I did too, honestly, yeah.
- 1:02:58Cuz you got supernatural spooky stuff.
- 1:03:00Why wouldn't that have a klaxon going off?
- 1:03:02Yeah, I'm also surprised we got an explanation at all.
- 1:03:05Yeah. And they're going up the step,
- 1:03:08like so many people come in through the fog, so everybody's
- 1:03:11been out scavenging. And they're all very well aware
- 1:03:14that they don't want to be out there when the darkness happens.
- 1:03:16They are safe inside the church because their beliefs are so
- 1:03:20strong. And as they're there, Rose and
- 1:03:24Dolly are on the stairs, the steps, and she's trying to get
- 1:03:29some more information and I'm trying to get Dalia to come
- 1:03:31inside. Too, Dalia says that they are
- 1:03:33liars, but Rose is like still trying to talk to her and get
- 1:03:37more information out of her. Anna is out there with Sybil
- 1:03:41Rocks. Yeah, she.
- 1:03:42Just can't help herself. And Sybil is trying to get Rose
- 1:03:46to hurry up because, like, darkness is coming.
- 1:03:49And then Pyramid Head is right behind.
- 1:03:51Anna grabs her, pulls her skin off, flips her inside out.
- 1:03:57Holy shit the way he just like yoinks the skin off of her is so
- 1:04:01clean. It's just damn.
- 1:04:03I feel like the she had to have been like raised in this cult.
- 1:04:06So yeah, surely I feel bad for her.
- 1:04:08And at at least it was a quick ending, I hope.
- 1:04:12It was probably extremely painful for that moment though.
- 1:04:16I can't. Like I don't know how the
- 1:04:18purgatory rules work for her here, but that's.
- 1:04:20True. Is she dead then?
- 1:04:22I don't know. He might have been doing her a
- 1:04:23favor. I don't know.
- 1:04:26So they they go inside and because Rosa and Sybil are
- 1:04:30outsiders, everybody starts accusing them of being witches.
- 1:04:34And Christa Bella says Anna was not killed because of them.
- 1:04:39She was killed because she ignored their law.
- 1:04:41Right now we will pray for her and then we will deal with these
- 1:04:44outsiders. Now Chris is at the orphanage
- 1:04:47and they won't give any information.
- 1:04:51Gucci Mane's there and he says, Chris, you did a really bad job
- 1:04:53cleaning up after yourself outside of the archives.
- 1:04:56I'm going to have to, like, book you for trespassing there and
- 1:04:58here if you don't want to leave now.
- 1:05:01And hands up cuffing him anyway. And he says that he knew Alyssa.
- 1:05:06He was told that she didn't survive what happened to her in
- 1:05:09the fire. And he says it wasn't the town
- 1:05:11fire. It was something that fanatics
- 1:05:14did to her. 30 years ago. Christabella, Rose, Sybil and
- 1:05:19the hunters all go to the hotel because Rose was explained that
- 1:05:24they're looking for her. Daughter, they yeah, they say
- 1:05:26that the demon knows where she is, and you have to ask the
- 1:05:30demon if you want to know. So they agree that at least take
- 1:05:32her to where that is, but they're not going to go with
- 1:05:34her. They're just there to show her
- 1:05:36where she needs to be. And they show her, you know, how
- 1:05:38like all hotels, they have to have like the exit maps up there
- 1:05:41for you. So that way, you know, like the
- 1:05:43eager says if there is a fire and she says memorize this map,
- 1:05:47you need to go to B 151. That's where the darkness lays.
- 1:05:50It hides behind the face of an innocent.
- 1:05:52So don't be fooled. And Rosa's in there trying to
- 1:05:55memorize the map. Sybil's like, something's weird
- 1:05:59with this, like they're trying to like sacrifice you.
- 1:06:02Are you sure about this? And Rosa's like I.
- 1:06:05Memorizing every like turn like left, right, right, left, you
- 1:06:08know, like. I wish I had gotten a better
- 1:06:10look at the map myself because it looks like it's.
- 1:06:13Pretty complicated it. Just looks like a grade system.
- 1:06:15It didn't look like an actual maze.
- 1:06:17I feel like she could have just gone because this is the back
- 1:06:19corner. Like she just had to go.
- 1:06:22Yeah, and when we see her actually navigating, it kind of
- 1:06:26feels like that's what she did. Yeah.
- 1:06:28And she honestly, it makes me think of, like, the people who
- 1:06:30do the Rubik's cubes, like, they have the, like, steps memorized
- 1:06:33to get them well done. That's what she's doing.
- 1:06:37Yeah. And then Christabel was like,
- 1:06:39hey, we're scavengers. And I'm really sorry.
- 1:06:43So I just wanted to give you this necklace back.
- 1:06:45We took it when it fell from you.
- 1:06:48And as she's handing it over, the Locket pops open.
- 1:06:51And it's Sharon, who looks like Alyssa.
- 1:06:54And then they're like, witch. She's a witch and Sybil starts
- 1:06:58fighting the hunters and Christabella and sends Rose
- 1:07:02plunging down in an elevator. Yeah, this also felt like a
- 1:07:06video game moment right here. Like cutscene boom, I'll handle
- 1:07:09the people. Here you go and do the spooky
- 1:07:11stuff. Yep, and that's pretty much what
- 1:07:14is happening, except. The Sybil ran out of ammo.
- 1:07:16She only had one bullet. Yeah, and she clicks her gun.
- 1:07:20They noticed. So they just start beating the
- 1:07:22shit out of. Her.
- 1:07:23Yep. So Rose is down there.
- 1:07:25She's taking her turns and she runs into the nurses.
- 1:07:28She was warned that her flashlight would give off good
- 1:07:32light, but it would draw them into her.
- 1:07:36I'm sorry if you guys are hearing that.
- 1:07:37In the background, our neighbors are trimming their trees.
- 1:07:39They've been doing it all weekend.
- 1:07:41This is the first time they've done it in daylight, so we're
- 1:07:43grateful for that. Yeah.
- 1:07:47So she runs into the nurses and she's like, oh, OK, turn off the
- 1:07:50light. It calms them down.
- 1:07:51And then she's trying to like sneak through them.
- 1:07:53But thankfully, like, I always hate it when you see in a movie
- 1:07:58like they're like, OK, well, they only respond to the light.
- 1:08:00And I'm like, I feel like they would have other because not
- 1:08:04everybody's you. Most people have appropriative
- 1:08:07senses. What does that mean?
- 1:08:09Proprioception is like your sense of things around you.
- 1:08:13Hey, I have those. It's just sometimes I don't.
- 1:08:18Look, you brag about it all the time, but you lack that when
- 1:08:21you're in a store. OK.
- 1:08:24I like this moment, though. I like the it's a really intense
- 1:08:27scene with her having to like slowly move through this whole
- 1:08:30sea of nurses there. And they're like, they're not
- 1:08:33going anywhere, but they're still active, kind of they're
- 1:08:36like twitchy, yes. And one of them does sense that
- 1:08:40she's there and they do a swipe and they accidentally end up
- 1:08:44cutting the throat of one of the nurses, which causes a whole.
- 1:08:46Chamber just start cutting each other and she's like, I'm just
- 1:08:50going to see through. Yeah, honestly worked out in her
- 1:08:53favor there. That's pretty smooth.
- 1:08:55So Rose makes it to the light and Alessa says she will reward
- 1:08:58her with the truth. Alessa was told she was bad
- 1:09:01because she was fatherless. The town and the family made her
- 1:09:04feel scared and they were also scared of her.
- 1:09:07So they were going to do a ritual to fight the sin.
- 1:09:10They took Alessa away from her mom.
- 1:09:12Her mom agreed to it because she believed that they were just
- 1:09:16purifying her. They didn't know what they were
- 1:09:17planning. Instead, what they did was they
- 1:09:19put her over hot coals. However, while she was over the
- 1:09:25coals, it was knocked over and it started the fire that took
- 1:09:28down the town. Dalia got help, but it was too
- 1:09:32late. The fire was already going by
- 1:09:33the time she came back with assistance, which included
- 1:09:36Officer Kuchiman. Alessa was in pain, and the pain
- 1:09:42led to hate, and the hate bred the darkness, and the darkness
- 1:09:45promised to pull the mind into her.
- 1:09:48Darkest dream says that Alessa needs her help.
- 1:09:53What they want is their satisfaction.
- 1:09:56What their satisfaction is, is revenge.
- 1:09:58Sharon is what's left of Alessa's goodness in the world
- 1:10:02and. Yeah, that's good, Alessa.
- 1:10:03And then what we're speaking to right now is referred to as Dark
- 1:10:06Oessa. She says that Christabella plans
- 1:10:10to purify Sharon, so she needs to get back there, and Dark
- 1:10:14Alessa cannot get into the church because the blind
- 1:10:17conviction prevents her from entering, so she has to go
- 1:10:20inside of rows. And she means that quite
- 1:10:22literally. She like melds with her.
- 1:10:25Yeah, she actually does, Yeah. So we see Sharon hiding from
- 1:10:31hunters in she found she found a place to sleep for her.
- 1:10:36But God damn fucking Dalia, she was not.
- 1:10:40She just. She was there to protect her.
- 1:10:42Actually. She like the people the the
- 1:10:45minor hunters who are actually hunting for a minor right now
- 1:10:48are like they're trying to get her and Dalia's like no, leave
- 1:10:53her alone. Leave her alone except when when
- 1:10:57Sharon goes to hide, Dalia follows her so they're able to
- 1:11:00find her so easily. Gucci retells the story about
- 1:11:07the boy being thrown down the vent to reiterate that Sybil is
- 1:11:10doing all she can to find Sharon and Roz.
- 1:11:12OK but we cut 2. Sybil being tied to a ladder and
- 1:11:20there is a fire in the middle of the church.
- 1:11:22Sharon is also tied up. It's scary moment, yeah.
- 1:11:28And they tip the ladder, they don't put them directly in the
- 1:11:31flame, they roast them over top of the flame.
- 1:11:34Like your skin is just slowly pulling.
- 1:11:36That's worse. It is way worse.
- 1:11:38That's what I was thinking. Like it would be really
- 1:11:40excruciating to just like fall face first into the flame.
- 1:11:43But like, that's the slow, painful method, right?
- 1:11:46There, Yeah, it's bullshit. And they're about to do the same
- 1:11:48to Sharon. They made sure she saw it, They
- 1:11:50made sure she was scared. And there was this creep of a
- 1:11:53man that was holding Sharon before she got tied up that was
- 1:11:56like looking at her, like he's like almost drooling.
- 1:11:58He was so excited to see how scared she was.
- 1:12:00Gross. Well, as they're about to tip
- 1:12:03Sharon over, Rose enters. And she tells them Chris Bell
- 1:12:08lied to you all. She said you guys had to stay
- 1:12:10here because of the apocalypse. She said y'all need to burn
- 1:12:12children because of the apocalypse.
- 1:12:14It's all a lie. I like how throughout this
- 1:12:16entire scene she's like spitting truth and everybody's like
- 1:12:19trying to get in her way, but she just like shoves them off
- 1:12:21and every time that happens, they all back.
- 1:12:23I'm like, you know, like everybody's like, like they're
- 1:12:26respecting the power right here. And she walks up to confront
- 1:12:32Christabella, and Christabella stabs her.
- 1:12:35Yeah, she keeps saying burn her, burn her.
- 1:12:38And as rose bleeds, darkness descends.
- 1:12:42Because they're the less that comes out.
- 1:12:47We have this imagery of like, cuz everybody's just being
- 1:12:52attacked, right? Like it's pandemonium.
- 1:12:55They're all getting the, the vengeance cast upon them.
- 1:12:58And there's a moment where Crystabella is held up by like
- 1:13:02the barbed wires and everything. And I can't help but feel that
- 1:13:07the the writers and animators for Futurama were inspired by
- 1:13:13that. Because that's exactly what Frye
- 1:13:15looks like in the Beast of 1000. Backs when he's got the when
- 1:13:18he's the Tentacle Pope. Yeah, you're right.
- 1:13:20Like, it's that, it's that exact same imagery.
- 1:13:23Yeah, man, See, I was thinking of Hellraiser too, with Doctor
- 1:13:27Maynard, that guy. Yeah.
- 1:13:30And being just kind of like get the things in his bag and just
- 1:13:34hold him up. I feel like it's very Hellraiser
- 1:13:38imagery right here, but. There's also like a little bit
- 1:13:41of Evil Dead imagery cuz Barb Byron's right.
- 1:13:44Up. Right up there.
- 1:13:45Oh boy. Yeah.
- 1:13:48And Dalia sees darkness, and she goes, What have you become?
- 1:13:53Yeah. Rose holds Sharon and then we
- 1:13:55get more darkness and then light.
- 1:13:59They start to leave the church. Dolly is the only one left.
- 1:14:02And she was like, why did she spare me?
- 1:14:04She said Mother's God in the eyes of child.
- 1:14:08And then Dolly is like, what? What?
- 1:14:11But they don't hear because they're walking back to their
- 1:14:13car and the car starts and they get to the edge of the road and
- 1:14:19Rose is like, well, you can't be any more dead than we already
- 1:14:22are. And but there's still Rd. there
- 1:14:26and mad. Just imagine if they've done
- 1:14:27that in the first place. Yeah, I know.
- 1:14:30I like that, though. I feel like that was like a cool
- 1:14:32little secret thing. She calls Chris and she's
- 1:14:34leaving a message on the answering machine, and all we
- 1:14:37can hear on the answering machine is static.
- 1:14:39And Chris is just. He takes a depression nap on the
- 1:14:42on the couch and it's light but it's rainy but it feels real.
- 1:14:50And then we keep cutting back to Rose and Sharon in the car and
- 1:14:53they're just driving through fog the whole way, and they get to
- 1:14:56the house and it's dark and it's empty and.
- 1:15:00All foggy. Yeah.
- 1:15:01And they go inside and they sit down in the chairs looking at
- 1:15:05the couch where Christopher is sleeping.
- 1:15:07Christopher gets the sense that somebody's there, gets out, the
- 1:15:10door is open. So do they have some kind of
- 1:15:14impact on the real world around Christopher here?
- 1:15:17It seems like maybe Or maybe Christopher just forgot to close
- 1:15:20the door. But you know what we don't
- 1:15:21fucking know? Because it's how this movie ends
- 1:15:23it. Just sends.
- 1:15:24There's no after credits, there's no nothing.
- 1:15:26And then you have to wait six years for Silent Hill
- 1:15:29Revelations. Did they call it Revelations
- 1:15:32because they reveal everyone, Reveal all?
- 1:15:34Yeah. I don't know.
- 1:15:36I don't think I've seen that one actually.
- 1:15:39I need to see it. I need.
- 1:15:40I need answers. Well, I got good news.
- 1:15:42It's also on Peacock. OK, good.
- 1:15:43Yeah, so we can watch it. You can watch it if you need to,
- 1:15:47or you can be just as confused as we are in this moment, and we
- 1:15:51can all just share the confusion.
- 1:15:54But that's the movie. That's how it ends.
- 1:15:56That's how it goes. Jesse, do you change your
- 1:15:58review? Absolutely not OK.
- 1:16:00I think it's still 9. I think it's a very good movie,
- 1:16:03good pacing, good spookiness. OK I'm keeping mine 8.52.
- 1:16:10I agree with you man, Ned did a lot really well.
- 1:16:14What would you change? I like being a little bit
- 1:16:18confused, but I also like having things cleared up.
- 1:16:21OK, you know, like give something.
- 1:16:24A little bit. So you don't get what Gaines
- 1:16:26calls the joy of being smart. Oh, I'm not smart.
- 1:16:30So no, like don't invite me to be smart because no, it's just
- 1:16:35that's an invitation. I have to decline, Sir, I'm
- 1:16:37sorry. I also just don't feel like the
- 1:16:42the exposition dump at the end was the best way to handle that.
- 1:16:46I don't know. I feel like.
- 1:16:47They they wrote an hour and 45 minutes a movie and they're
- 1:16:50like. They can't sell it anymore.
- 1:16:53Yeah. It was just, it was a lot like,
- 1:16:55I think that they were like dumping that for like 7 minutes
- 1:16:59straight, you know, it was just, you could have told some of that
- 1:17:03throughout when we were just getting a lot of like creepy
- 1:17:06imagery. But we weren't really.
- 1:17:09We were picking up a lot of visual clues.
- 1:17:11But you can only tell so much from that.
- 1:17:13You got to be able to at least explain some of it too.
- 1:17:16Yeah. All right.
- 1:17:18What did Talia think? Talia was staring out the window
- 1:17:21the whole time. Talia has seen fog.
- 1:17:23She has seen sunlight. She prefers sunlight.
- 1:17:26I think this was spooky for her. Yeah, Talia, I think she had a
- 1:17:31pretty strong reaction to, I think the one that had the
- 1:17:35strongest. So we don't have a segment for
- 1:17:36her on these, but Scout will love this movie.
- 1:17:38Scout. SAT between us the entire movie
- 1:17:42and she was right between us. Head perked up.
- 1:17:46We'll pause in front of her. She would do the TV, she would
- 1:17:48do things like she would hop down to get some water, but then
- 1:17:51she would come right back into place and then she.
- 1:17:53Watched the TV, it sounded like something exciting was
- 1:17:55happening. She would scurry in.
- 1:17:57Yeah, yeah. She was big into this movie.
- 1:18:00But Talia, I think Talia is going to give this A7.
- 1:18:05That's what I was thinking. Because all dogs go to heaven.
- 1:18:08Yeah, and this movie had too much hell.
- 1:18:11Yeah, so we need to put some heaven in this.
- 1:18:13Who is Zoe's ultimate warrior? I think Dark Alessa.
- 1:18:17Dark Alessa? Why?
- 1:18:18Because Dark Alessa is all about vengeance, and Zoe is a vengeful
- 1:18:23little cat. She's not fed on time.
- 1:18:25OK, that's fair enough. Who did you relate to?
- 1:18:33That's a good question. Come on man.
- 1:18:39You go first. Obviously I related to Sharon,
- 1:18:43what with the sleepwalking and all.
- 1:18:44Oh yeah, I guess that's. True.
- 1:18:47I didn't expect that to be over with so soon as I'd be able to
- 1:18:54buy some more time I related to. How long can you drag this out?
- 1:19:02The very person I'll relate to Christopher, because sometimes I
- 1:19:11don't know if I left the door open or if I close it.
- 1:19:14Or if you left your keys in it overnight.
- 1:19:15Or if I left my keys in it. I've done that a lot of times
- 1:19:18too. I've I've been in.
- 1:19:19Too many times, actually. Or did I do it?
- 1:19:21Did somebody in purgatory do it? Put my keys in the door, you
- 1:19:26know, maybe. No, you did it.
- 1:19:28I don't know, this movies made me think that there could be
- 1:19:30other options, you know, could be other possibilities out
- 1:19:34there. Dream sequel.
- 1:19:37I want to see them get out of purgatory, whatever that looks
- 1:19:42like. It's interesting that it goes
- 1:19:45beyond Silent Hill. I, you know, I figured you would
- 1:19:48be stuck there, but like, you can travel the whole world just
- 1:19:52in purgatory. It's interesting, yeah.
- 1:19:55Like, maybe find a way out of purgatory.
- 1:19:57But like, you know, in the process, we're exploring more of
- 1:20:00the world surrounding it. But then again, it's Silent
- 1:20:02Hill, so like, Silent Hill is a very important part of the whole
- 1:20:06story, so you still have to tie that in.
- 1:20:09Which leads us to a very important question.
- 1:20:11Yeah, WWDD. What would Vin Diesel do?
- 1:20:14It's what? What would Dom do?
- 1:20:16Why? Like I understand Vin Diesel and
- 1:20:19Dom are the same person but. I always hear VD whenever you
- 1:20:23say that instead of DD. Then that would just be what
- 1:20:27would Vin Diesel. It's even better question, that
- 1:20:32is the most important question. What would Vin Diesel, OK, so
- 1:20:40well he would have outrun Civil. OK, Civil would have not caught
- 1:20:43up. Civil would have become part of
- 1:20:45the family eventually. Civil wouldn't have gotten
- 1:20:47burned because Dom would have gotten back there in time.
- 1:20:49Here's how I think Dom is getting out of purge for you.
- 1:20:51OK, he explodes it. Well, there's yeah, there's no
- 1:20:56other way. We don't have to have any other
- 1:20:58explanation than this. He's like.
- 1:20:59He's like, no, we're. Going to hit the Nos and we're
- 1:21:01going to explode Purgatory. What happens is like, oh, well,
- 1:21:03the coal was burning too long, let me explode.
- 1:21:06And yeah, it's like, all right, that's solved the problem.
- 1:21:08Yeah, we're going to use the fire under the town.
- 1:21:11Just like everything is on fire now.
- 1:21:13And yeah, he like, explodes himself.
- 1:21:16So the explosion, just like, propels him through dimensions
- 1:21:21out of purgatory back into real life.
- 1:21:23Yeah, like, and as he's like being thrown through there, he
- 1:21:26has, like, sad flashbacks of his dad's crash.
- 1:21:29Yeah, but he was also there for his child, but he forgot it, so
- 1:21:34they got to get another one. A fifth child, now 5th.
- 1:21:36Child OK. OK, that, I mean, that's exactly
- 1:21:41what would happen. Perfect.
- 1:21:42All right, time for reviews. Yeah, new tagline.
- 1:21:47No new tagline? Well, we got so many before.
- 1:21:50The hills are dead with the sound of silence.
- 1:21:53OK. That's pretty good.
- 1:21:56I wrote it down in the beginning.
- 1:21:57Yeah, you did. Yeah, that came to you.
- 1:21:58Really. It did.
- 1:22:00All right. Good job.
- 1:22:01Thank you. OK, so let's do some reviews.
- 1:22:05That's it. Nothing to contribute to that.
- 1:22:07You like that one? I like it, yeah.
- 1:22:09I don't have anything else to add, honestly.
- 1:22:11Yeah, unless you want it like. No, it's fine.
- 1:22:15If I'm getting a mic drop, I'll take the mic drop.
- 1:22:17Yeah, get it when you can get them, man.
- 1:22:19Don't fight it because you smacked your mic there.
- 1:22:22Well, I didn't want to actually drop it.
- 1:22:24These are these class money. They do, yeah.
- 1:22:27OK, so what's the reviews? All right, so I have two.
- 1:22:30I did a good one and a bad one, but I wanted to do 2 different
- 1:22:34perspectives. I wanted to get a good one from
- 1:22:37somebody who hasn't played the video game and a bad one from
- 1:22:39somebody who has played the video game.
- 1:22:40Yeah, that's an interesting way to approach this.
- 1:22:42So we'll start off with the good one.
- 1:22:45So now it's in very gory, confusing and very good.
- 1:22:49I never played the video game so I can only review this as a
- 1:22:51movie. Visually it's very impressive
- 1:22:53with eerie locations and purposely washed out color.
- 1:22:57There's almost never a dull moment with monsters attacking
- 1:23:00and for some reason the left and right most of these are things
- 1:23:03are never explained but certainly grab your attention.
- 1:23:06I assume they make sense in the video game.
- 1:23:09I do have to say it's a pretty sad state of affairs when you
- 1:23:11have to play a video game to fully understand a movie.
- 1:23:14So I was never bored. I was trying to figure out the
- 1:23:17movie most of the time. There's also plenty of gore with
- 1:23:20people being ripped apart or torn open.
- 1:23:22This is not for the squeamish. The acting is as good as it can
- 1:23:26be. Mitchell is good, but a lot of
- 1:23:28her actions make no sense. Again, they probably do in the
- 1:23:30game. Laurie Holden is very good at as
- 1:23:33a police officer helping her. Sean Bean has a few good moments
- 1:23:36as Rose's husband. Alice Creish is exceptional as
- 1:23:39Christabel, downright chilling Farrell and this wonderful
- 1:23:43Sharon. This young girl has a bright
- 1:23:44career in front of her. Basically.
- 1:23:47I did like it, but the plot was more than confusing and it got
- 1:23:50very upsetting towards the end. Also the ending was some sort of
- 1:23:54ambiguous. I think it's meant to be that
- 1:23:56way. There's also a cute joke in the
- 1:23:58movie. The school in Silent Hill is
- 1:24:00called Midwich. This is probably a direct pun on
- 1:24:03the book Midwich Cuckoos which became Village of the Damned
- 1:24:07about the evil kids and that relates to this movie.
- 1:24:10I'm giving it 9 because of the confusing bits and the pieces
- 1:24:12and the ending. I do recommend it with some
- 1:24:15reservations. This is a must see for gore
- 1:24:17fans. OK I would say it's not exactly
- 1:24:19that big on gore honestly, but I may be biased considering I'm
- 1:24:23looking at this from the 2025. Years, I think we're not, we're
- 1:24:26not seeing the gore as it happens when we're seeing the
- 1:24:28after effects of it, like I said, like we see the like the
- 1:24:31barbed wire bondage basically. Yeah, yeah, there's a lot of
- 1:24:34upsetting imagery. Yeah, I'll give them that.
- 1:24:36But yeah, I mean, like I said, it is kind of confusing.
- 1:24:39It probably does help to have played the game to understand
- 1:24:42some of the stuff. But yeah, you know, like I agree
- 1:24:46with most of what they said there.
- 1:24:48I I, I thought all the acting was good.
- 1:24:50I was, like I said before, really impressed with the kid in
- 1:24:53this movie. Absolutely she was.
- 1:24:55She was fantastic. Yeah, OK, let's do the one from
- 1:24:59the game player. It's a 2 out of 10.
- 1:25:02Play the game instead. Silent Hill is a big screen
- 1:25:05adaptation of the very popular and disturbing video game in
- 1:25:08which a frantic father, Harry Mason, searches the terrifying
- 1:25:11titular town in an attempt to find his missing daughter.
- 1:25:15In Christopher Ganz movie of the same name, the character of
- 1:25:17Harry is replaced by Rose de Silva.
- 1:25:20The little girl is the adoptive mother, but pretty much
- 1:25:22everything else remains the same and will be familiar to those
- 1:25:25who have experienced the game. Silent Hill emulates its source,
- 1:25:29its sources sinister setting and spooky sound design to
- 1:25:32perfection, producing bags of Erie ambience.
- 1:25:35Unfortunately, it also replicates its extremely
- 1:25:38confusing plot, and without the benefit of the direct
- 1:25:41interaction that gameplay allows, the result is extremely
- 1:25:44boring. It's a bit like watching someone
- 1:25:46else play the game for two hours solid without once being allowed
- 1:25:49to take part in any way. Whilst rabid fans of the Silent
- 1:25:53Hill games might possibly find something to enjoy about this
- 1:25:56tedious cinematic offering, anyone else will most likely be
- 1:25:59bored witless at the protagonist endless tramping through multi
- 1:26:03corridors, abandoned buildings and deserted alleys.
- 1:26:07A couple of scenes deliver some rather nifty and unsettling CGI
- 1:26:10creations and even a touch of over the top core, but it really
- 1:26:14isn't worth sitting through this dreadful mess for these
- 1:26:17occasions and all too brief good bits.
- 1:26:22I haven't played the video game, so I couldn't tell you how
- 1:26:26strongly I feel about that. It's interesting that people who
- 1:26:30play the game are, you know, saying probably need to play the
- 1:26:34game. But then again, the review from
- 1:26:36before and wait, we've said we haven't played the game, but we
- 1:26:38enjoyed the story and we still liked everything about it.
- 1:26:41And I can see how it would be a fun game to play.
- 1:26:42I think it's kind of I'm going to be curious when Until Dawn
- 1:26:50streams. Yeah, if it's not.
- 1:26:52Streaming already, I haven't, I haven't been paying that close
- 1:26:55attention. But at some point when we catch
- 1:26:57it on streaming, I'm going to be curious how we feel about it,
- 1:27:01which obviously we know from the trailer, it diverts from the
- 1:27:05video game a lot. And a lot of people who've
- 1:27:08played the video game didn't care for the movie that much.
- 1:27:11But I remember my mom saw it and she was like, I can see how this
- 1:27:14would be a fun video game. I actually enjoyed the movie.
- 1:27:17Yeah, so I kind of wonder if we'll have a similar experience,
- 1:27:21although neither of us wrote in to complain to the writer of.
- 1:27:24Until dawn. So we're it's what?
- 1:27:26You it's. A little while, yeah.
- 1:27:28It's a lot like what you say about whenever you read a book
- 1:27:33before you watch a movie. You enjoy the movies before you
- 1:27:37read the source material. Yes, any time that like that's
- 1:27:41kind of the key that I've noticed is that I still enjoy
- 1:27:44the book if I've seen the movie, but I tend to not enjoy the
- 1:27:47movie if I've already read the book.
- 1:27:49And that's probably the same case with this right here.
- 1:27:51I mean, we have the same thing, similar thing happened with
- 1:27:54Death Note. We both didn't really care for
- 1:27:56it because we've seen the anime, we know the source material.
- 1:27:59It was not true to a lot of the things in that.
- 1:28:02But your sister really liked the movie and she has no experience
- 1:28:06with that. And, you know, like, that's just
- 1:28:08one of those things where you're like, you don't know about it,
- 1:28:10so it doesn't bother you in those ways.
- 1:28:13And I, I have generally, as I've gotten older and tried to
- 1:28:19appreciate different mediums for what they are, I've tried to
- 1:28:23take a different approach to how I see adaptations and things
- 1:28:26like that. But I've just learned that for
- 1:28:28myself, when I haven't already imagined where everything can
- 1:28:31go, it's easier for me to see the movie and then do the other
- 1:28:35things. And then I can appreciate them
- 1:28:37that way because once I'm open to all of the possibilities, the
- 1:28:39movie ends up being so different from my brain that it's like
- 1:28:45almost a let down. But I don't have that if I do it
- 1:28:47in reverse, right? You know, cuz I can go back and
- 1:28:49I can appreciate the movie misery every fucking time.
- 1:28:52Even though I know it's got enough differences from the
- 1:28:55book. Those don't bother me.
- 1:28:57Yeah, but you know, the flip is not true for for other things.
- 1:29:01Yeah, so it's tricky. Yeah, you know, I get it.
- 1:29:06It does seem like a lot of fans of the game did appreciate this
- 1:29:10movie, though. Yeah.
- 1:29:11And yeah, you know, like I said at the beginning, it's nice
- 1:29:14having somebody who cares about the source material involved.
- 1:29:18It's it's always good when it's coming from another fan's
- 1:29:21perspective because even if it's not one that you agree with,
- 1:29:23like it's still made with love. Same thing with like Lord of the
- 1:29:26Rings, right? Like, I know a lot of people are
- 1:29:27like, oh, I don't really agree with how he saw the books, but
- 1:29:32you know, it's probably like the de facto way to adapt it because
- 1:29:35like, Peter Jackson's a pretty big fan from all I've.
- 1:29:38Heard Nerd. Yeah.
- 1:29:40But then again, I can't really comment on that either.
- 1:29:44So, yeah, All right. I don't have any listener
- 1:29:46reviews. Yeah, I'm sorry, we didn't get
- 1:29:49any. You guys, I asked you.
- 1:29:51I specifically asked. Yeah, yeah, that's OK.
- 1:29:54It happens. Well, you know what?
- 1:29:57That's OK, because next week we're going to watch something
- 1:30:00new for both of us, voted by our patrons.
- 1:30:02We are going to watch Invasion of the Body Snatchers and it's
- 1:30:06the 1978 version with Donald Sutherland and Travis Snuggles
- 1:30:14Me to make that sound a million times.
- 1:30:16If you would like to watch that movie right now, it is currently
- 1:30:18streaming on HBO Max and Prime, or you can rent it from YouTube
- 1:30:21or Google TV. Cool.
- 1:30:23I'm excited for that. I am too.
- 1:30:25Again, that's one of those. I know the general beats of it,
- 1:30:27but I've not seen it. I'm excited to see it.
- 1:30:30No, the ending big time. But I don't think it's going to
- 1:30:32yeah, it's not going to affect my enjoyment, I don't think.
- 1:30:35I think I'm going to be I'm, I'm along for the ride this time.
- 1:30:38This is something I keep telling you about Dragon Ball because
- 1:30:41I've seen random bits and pieces and movies and stuff.
- 1:30:45So like spoiler for Dragon Ball, I guess.
- 1:30:48But like Krillin just died and I told Travis I'm like on the one
- 1:30:51hand Piccolo is old and krill instead, but on the other hand I
- 1:30:57know like the most recent movie Krillin was alive and Piccolo
- 1:31:00was Uncle Piccolo so. Nobody ruined this for Jesse.
- 1:31:04She has. No, don't.
- 1:31:05Yeah, please don't. Please don't.
- 1:31:07We've gotten to the point where like if I have a question about
- 1:31:09something innocuous like the age of a character like Travis, like
- 1:31:12just ask me and I'll Google it for you so that way I don't get
- 1:31:15anymore spoilers. Jesse, let me tell you
- 1:31:16something. You don't even have to have
- 1:31:18anybody Google it. I can probably fucking tell you
- 1:31:20I. Well, you didn't know how old
- 1:31:22Shiatsu and TN were. OK, that's like, that's stupid
- 1:31:25parts of war. I can tell you a lot about other
- 1:31:27things of. War.
- 1:31:28But those are things I needed to know yeah, so please don't
- 1:31:33please don't ruin it for me. But I told Travis I was like, I
- 1:31:36know that those things happen eventually, but obviously
- 1:31:38they're not happening now. And I'm just excited for the
- 1:31:41journey. And that's how we are with
- 1:31:43Invasion of Body Snatchers next. Week and the same thing with me
- 1:31:45and Buffy. I'm in the same.
- 1:31:46Place Yeah, absolutely do not spoil a fucking thing for him.
- 1:31:51He thinks he knows things, he'll tell me things he's like, well,
- 1:31:54I know eventually this and I keep a neutral face because
- 1:31:58maybe he's got some of them right, maybe he's got some of
- 1:32:00them wrong. I'm not going to tell him
- 1:32:01because he's seen up to almost the end of Season 3 and he's
- 1:32:05seen once more with feeling. Yeah, that's all I've.
- 1:32:07Seen. That's all he's seen.
- 1:32:09He's not allowed to look at Buffy subreddits.
- 1:32:12Yeah, I'm, I'm keeping away from that.
- 1:32:14And he's gonna be watching Angel Two once we get to Season 4.
- 1:32:18Yeah, we're gonna go. We're doing this the right way.
- 1:32:20Chronological in universe order with those.
- 1:32:24Yeah. So we're, we're doing it, Yeah,
- 1:32:27we're making our way. So.
- 1:32:31All that to say, stay tuned next week for Invasion of.
- 1:32:33The body, yeah, that's what we're really getting we're.
- 1:32:35Really getting at. All right, Thanks everybody for
