- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Definitely worth talking about.
- 0:01SPEAKER_00: Today's day five of my fast.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: I started Sunday evening.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: Now it's about Friday at 6 a.m.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: I'm going to continue through today.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: That's a promise I've made to myself.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: I might go through the weekend as well.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: Weekends are weird with fasting because that's typically a time people come together, and as the world is, usually people come together to eat.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Now, when you surround yourself with people that aren't into eating and they would rather be go for hikes or go for a workout or whatever, it's it's a little different.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: And maybe that's the type of mode and lifestyle you need to look into if in fact you've been fat for a very long time or you've been fighting it and you're unable to crawl out of it.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: Sometimes your surroundings changing those are much more beneficial.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: But again, you know, kicking people to the curb because you want to drop, even if it's a lot of weight, maybe not the best solution.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: But again, you know, think about it.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: Decide and make decisions.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: If you have people that are enabling you, basically feeding you, offering you stuff when you're trying not to uh break your fast, that's also something to consider.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: Most of the people, they're not doing it because they're trying to sabotage you.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: We do that good enough ourselves.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: But they do, they're programmed that way.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: They've been that way, and they might be of the older generation, and they see you not as fat, believe it or not.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: They see you as somebody they love.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: So more often than not, they're not offering you food or trying to tell you, hey, you need to eat, you look a little skinny, even though you know you're topping 350 pounds.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: Again, they're just trying to do it because they love you and they care for you.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: But you owe it to yourself.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: You can say, oh no, thank you.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: I'm still on this.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: And it does happen quite a bit.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: And of course, whenever you're fasting, all of the commercials are about your favorite food.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: All of the TV shows show people eating and enjoying.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: And it's the same thing with any other type of addiction.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: If you have a food addiction and you're trying to stop the addiction, of course, everything becomes food.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: You start to smell things that are blocks away that you just can't resist.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: If you have a drug addiction, same thing.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: Everything's about drugs.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: And if you have alcohol addiction, of course, it's all about alcohol, especially when you're trying to stop or cease and desist and not do those things anymore.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: So this is day five.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: I feel very good.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: Uh, have been working out very hard.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: I've been doing HIT training every other day.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: So I'm doing a series of 12 uh one-minute repeats as hard as I can go on a wind bike, and then stepping down and doing one minute rest in between.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: So with the warm-up and and cool down phases about 27, 28 minutes total.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: And then I'm doing my lifting as I do every single day, and that usually goes about an hour, 15, an hour, 20 minutes.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: And I am still doing this, even though I'm completely fasted, haven't had anything to eat for a week.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: Now, we will watch what happens next week.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: How long am I gonna go this time?
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: Um, I didn't get weighed this morning, I should have, but I completely slipped my mind.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: I got my clothes on, and here I am doing videos.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: I'll probably get weighed tomorrow.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: I know yeah, I've dropped about 15 pounds so far from Sunday to today on Friday, and we'll see what happens.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: As far as I'm concerned, as long as I have fat on my body to burn, fasting's good.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: Also, when I'm this deep into it, it I'm very deep in autophagy as well.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: So, whatever negatives I have that have occurred in the body, malformed cells, protein cells that aren't correct, any kind of errors in my body, they get cleaned up via this autophageal process during the process of autophagy when of course you're completely fasted.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: What am I drinking?
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: I'm drinking water.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: Um I'm having um salt.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: I take a salt pill, magnesium pill, and a potassium pill.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: So I'll take that.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: I also take uh D3, so I have a couple of those.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: Not a lot of that, but I do have that once a day.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: Uh the salt will give you the runs, so you got to be careful with that not to have too much.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: Usually a gram a day, maybe two grams, but never taking them together.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: You take a, I take a couple grams of salt, and uh it's it's I start to salivate like I'm gonna up chuck.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: So be careful with that.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: Check with your doctor, make sure that you get their advice before you do anything.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: I just wanted to give you an update, and I will be back tomorrow.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: I used fasting to torch off that 135 pounds back in the past, back in the past.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: Now, when you get into some symbols of shape, maybe you've never been there, and I never was, but once I did, then you can kind of play with the numbers a little bit while keeping in adherence to your health.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: And what I mean by playing with the numbers, you can, you know, bulking phases and leaning phases and all this stuff for bodybuilders.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: I'm not in that world, but you know, you you do enjoy the food a little bit, try to keep it in check, but then if it gets a little bit out of whack, then you fast again and cut it back.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: Then you can change your diet completely and just continue on that same track and just monitor it.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: If you go up two or three pounds, maybe maybe your habit is going to be to fast every week and once, once or two, one or two days.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: Or maybe your thing is eating just once a day.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: That's my thing.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: I love to eat just once a day.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: So my strength is usually in the morning, mid-afternoon, late afternoon.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: Week time is my problem.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: So I don't have a problem running out in the morning and buying, you know, a dozen donuts.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: That's not my weak point.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: But it is ordering pizza in the evening or going out and having something horrible in the evening.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: But that's usually when I seem to do the most damage to myself.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: That's something to find out for you.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: When is your weak point of the day?
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: And if you're gonna do the one meal a day thing, then just eat at the time that it's weak and try to hold on the rest of the time, using your willpower muscle to do so.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: And I know people say, you know, you're gonna wear out the muscle.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: I I believe that willpower does improve because there's a lot of other factors based on willpower.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: When you succeed in going through with and being true to yourself with something, a rule you made, then you will get this a hit of dopamine and you will feel good about accomplishing that.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: When you accomplish a goal, you feel good about that.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: So if you're telling yourself, listen, I'm not gonna eat today, I might break my fast tomorrow, or whatever it may be, or I'm not gonna eat until the next day at this time, and you succeed with that, the more you do that, the better you feel.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: And there's a lot of other things that happen inside your brain bucket that reinforce that and continue down the process.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: And I gotta tell you, that feeling is a lot better than that feeling of, oh, great.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: I can't believe I just ate that, or I can't believe I did this, or I can't believe I had that person saying, why don't you try this?
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: You deserve it, you look great, blah, blah.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: And you did it anyway.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: Watch out for those little triggers because we are creatures of habit.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: And if you've been an autopilot eater for any period of time, you're gonna find yourself stuck in that jack in the box drive-thru, eating as many tacos as you can power down before you meet up with those people that love you and trying to destroy all the evidence beforehand.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: I'm Connor.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: We'll see you in the next one.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: Be well.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: Thanks for watching.
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: Let me know if I can help.
