- 0:42Speaker 1: us at Megan and Wendy at gmail dot com, or
- 0:45Speaker 1: join our Facebook group at Girls Gone Hallmark. Just search
- 0:50Speaker 1: Girls Gone Hallmark. I'll leave a link in the show
- 0:52Speaker 1: notes as well.
- 0:53Speaker 2: We'd love to have you.
- 0:54Speaker 1: It is a great engaged group of people and for
- 0:57Speaker 1: even more of us. You may not know, but we
- 0:58Speaker 1: have another podcast. It's called Long Story Short with Megan
- 1:01Speaker 1: and Wendy, where we publish episodes every Tuesday. We'd love
- 1:06Speaker 1: to have you be listeners over there as well. That's
- 1:09Speaker 1: a women's lifestyle podcast. Okay, it sounds like a fancy
- 1:14Speaker 1: name for it.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Before we get into the Royal Nanny, let's let's do
- 1:18Speaker 1: some general Hallmark news and notes, Okay, so many this week,
- 1:21Speaker 1: so much?
- 1:22Speaker 2: Just do you think?
- 1:22Speaker 1: So?
- 1:23Speaker 2: What do you want to start with?
- 1:25Speaker 1: Well, I would like to start with the recommendation that
- 1:27Speaker 1: everybody who is not currently following Tyler Hines on social
- 1:31Speaker 1: pick Instagram.
- 1:32Speaker 2: He's on TikTok too, but he.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Is promoting the hell out of Three wise Men and
- 1:37Speaker 1: a baby, and he's doing it in the most delightful,
- 1:41Speaker 1: search trappy way possible. I love it, and I mean
- 1:45Speaker 1: that with all the love in my heart. I'm enjoying
- 1:47Speaker 1: every minute of it. And the Instagram algorithm knows that
- 1:50Speaker 1: I'm enjoying every minute of it because it always pops
- 1:52Speaker 1: to the top of my feed. It's fun to see
- 1:54Speaker 1: these behind the scenes photos and quick video clips. The
- 1:58Speaker 1: boys together, Andrew and Tyler and Paul just bring.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Me a lot of joy.
- 2:04Speaker 1: I don't see how this movie could possibly not be
- 2:07Speaker 1: enjoyable to watch, simply because I don't think it's possible
- 2:10Speaker 1: for the three of them to be on screen and
- 2:11Speaker 1: not have delightful chemistry. I can't imagine. So even if
- 2:15Speaker 1: the plot sucks, which I don't think it's going to
- 2:17Speaker 1: you because it's written next news and note co written
- 2:21Speaker 1: by Paul Campbell, and Kimberly Sustad. I do think Paul
- 2:24Speaker 1: Cambll's getting all the credit. Why because that's the only
- 2:29Speaker 1: thing I've seen promoted. But I could have sworn I
- 2:32Speaker 1: had heard that it was co written by Kimberly Sustad
- 2:34Speaker 1: and then you this morning found a post by Kimberly
- 2:37Speaker 1: Sestad who confirmed that.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:39Speaker 1: She was like saying how great it was to work
- 2:42Speaker 1: with them, and then Tyler was super complimentary to her,
- 2:45Speaker 1: saying like, you know her voice, like the movie wouldn't
- 2:48Speaker 1: be what it is without her voice, which I think
- 2:50Speaker 1: she's so funny. So I don't know what else she's written, though,
- 2:55Speaker 1: you know, we're newly Kimberly Susdad stands totally out here. Yeah,
- 3:00Speaker 1: I got a message that was like, how do you
- 3:02Speaker 1: guys not know her? She's amazing. She was in Nine
- 3:06Speaker 1: Lives of Kittens or whatever, where we're like, we're not
- 3:09Speaker 1: watching that.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Nine Lives of Kittens.
- 3:12Speaker 1: So Kimberly Sestad has one writer credit, which is Christmas
- 3:16Speaker 1: by Starlight from the twenty That's So Funny from the
- 3:21Speaker 1: twenty twenty Countdown to Christmas series, which she co stars
- 3:27Speaker 1: in with Paul Campbell and co wrote with Paul Campbell,
- 3:32Speaker 1: I'm gonna go back and watch that. When her family's
- 3:35Speaker 1: beloved cafe is slated for demolition, Anni vows to put
- 3:38Speaker 1: a stop to before Christmas. I do think I've seen this.
- 3:42Speaker 1: I'm going to have to rewatch. Yeah, I'm gonna go.
- 3:44Speaker 1: I'm gonna go look for it.
- 3:45Speaker 2: What a delightful pair and they're just me.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Maybe they're just the new writing team.
- 3:51Speaker 2: I love it.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Julie Sherman Wolf, Nina Wineman, Paul Campbell, and Kimberly Sestein. Yeah,
- 3:56Speaker 1: we got some fing Gary Goldstein and Gary Goldstein, which
- 4:00Speaker 1: brings us to Yeah. So Gary Goldstand wrote Lights Camera Christmas,
- 4:06Speaker 1: which we reviewed last week and loved, and I kind
- 4:09Speaker 1: of felt really bad because when I posted it on
- 4:12Speaker 1: the Instagram, I was like, it's a near perfect movie,
- 4:14Speaker 1: and then he reposted it and he's like, near perfect.
- 4:18Speaker 1: I'll take it, And I felt really kind of bad
- 4:20Speaker 1: because I don't think it was a reflection of his
- 4:22Speaker 1: writing of the script. I think it was whoever edited
- 4:25Speaker 1: the movie. Yes, and to be fair, the limits of
- 4:28Speaker 1: the time available to the editor. Yes, exactly. So one
- 4:31Speaker 1: of my favorites of this season.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Anyway.
- 4:33Speaker 1: In the News and notes for that episode I had
- 4:35Speaker 1: talked about Gary had given and was given story credit
- 4:39Speaker 1: for a nineteen ninety two I think Beverly Hills nine
- 4:44Speaker 1: er two and zero. Well, him and I DMed a
- 4:47Speaker 1: little bit and he shared that his story idea was
- 4:51Speaker 1: that Brandon was going to be stalked by a girlfriend,
- 4:55Speaker 1: and that girlfriend was Emily Valentine.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Emily Valentine. That's so exciting, I know, and then they
- 5:00Speaker 2: reconnect when.
- 5:03Speaker 1: I mean, anyway, Gary Goldstein is a delight.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Well that's good, yes, yes, yes.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Speaking of other Hallmark movies, last week we did talk
- 5:16Speaker 1: about my love for The Ghosts of Christmas Always.
- 5:19Speaker 2: You have since finished that movie.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Finally finished it. I enjoyed it quite a bit good.
- 5:24Speaker 1: I actually my heart like when spoiler alert when she
- 5:31Speaker 1: gets hit by the car. I mean you don't see
- 5:33Speaker 1: anything hostly, but you hear like this squealing of the
- 5:36Speaker 1: brakes and stuff.
- 5:36Speaker 2: I just was like, she dies, and I was like,
- 5:40Speaker 2: that is so sad.
- 5:42Speaker 1: It was. It was a really good movie. It was
- 5:44Speaker 1: a really good movie. I still think for me, Lights
- 5:48Speaker 1: Camera Christmas edges it out. Yes, okay, a tiny bit,
- 5:53Speaker 1: but it was a great movie.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Cool.
- 5:55Speaker 1: I liked it let's talk about some other Hallmark movies, dude.
- 5:58Speaker 1: I watched many of them this weekend. Yes, none that
- 6:01Speaker 1: were reviewing, Nope. And I want to say that today's
- 6:05Speaker 1: movie is probably my least favorite of the ones I
- 6:08Speaker 1: watched this weekend. Okay, I watched our Italian Christmas Memories,
- 6:12Speaker 1: which had me in tears, uh huh, and Christmas at
- 6:18Speaker 1: the Golden Dragon, which I thought was really good. Okay,
- 6:21Speaker 1: two really good movies. I hope people are watching them.
- 6:24Speaker 1: We will watch those this week. We watched in Mary
- 6:26Speaker 1: Measure yesterday. I was kind of doing things in the
- 6:29Speaker 1: kitchen and my husband had it on, so I, you know,
- 6:31Speaker 1: like half watched, half listened. But I thought it was cute.
- 6:34Speaker 1: It's not going to make any of my top five
- 6:37Speaker 1: lists for the season, but.
- 6:38Speaker 2: I thought it was a cute.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Did they have like dueling a cappella groups or somethay? Yes,
- 6:42Speaker 1: and let me tell you, I thought it was cute,
- 6:44Speaker 1: aside from the intense secondhand embarrassment I felt when they
- 6:48Speaker 1: did like a hip hop Christmas song mash up at
- 6:52Speaker 1: the end. I just want to crawl in my own skin.
- 6:54Speaker 1: But Brandon Penny was in that, and I he kind
- 6:59Speaker 1: of has this light clerk kent vibe it. It was nice,
- 7:04Speaker 1: super into it when less thought okay, prompted by comment
- 7:08Speaker 1: in our Facebook group. Yes, over the weekend, we welcome commentary.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Let's have conversations in there. Yep. We have not been
- 7:16Speaker 1: complementary to the GAP network. And which is the Great
- 7:19Speaker 1: American Country? They call themselves Great American Country, they call
- 7:22Speaker 1: themselves Great American Family. They don't have their act together.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Their website's a mess, They change the titles of movies,
- 7:27Speaker 1: they pull movies from their lineup.
- 7:29Speaker 2: They are not okay over there. H huh.
- 7:31Speaker 1: But the reason that we dislike them is not because
- 7:34Speaker 1: they're stealing our Hallmark stars. We do not be grudge
- 7:38Speaker 1: the success of any of our Hallmark stars. Luke McFarlane
- 7:42Speaker 1: go on to bigger and better. We are here for it.
- 7:45Speaker 1: There's only one reason that we're not fans of Great
- 7:47Speaker 1: American Country slash Family, and it's because they're super hateful
- 7:52Speaker 1: and bigoted. Yes, that's the bottom line, right. They were
- 7:55Speaker 1: founded on the premise of family friendly, which they defined
- 7:58Speaker 1: to mean no gay people and not really a lot
- 8:00Speaker 1: of people of color, and probably not interracial relationships either.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what we're not cool with.
- 8:06Speaker 1: And so when the actors go there, we're like, yeah,
- 8:08Speaker 1: it feels like you are saying they use the board
- 8:11Speaker 1: that I do right and family friendly should not be
- 8:16Speaker 1: a term that is weaponized to mean gay people are dangerous, right,
- 8:21Speaker 1: and that's what we don't support. Yeah, there was a conversation,
- 8:26Speaker 1: which I'm glad that it was had because I'm I'm
- 8:30Speaker 1: glad that it gave us the opportunity to say where
- 8:34Speaker 1: we stand on it, right, and others who are in
- 8:37Speaker 1: the group where they stand on it. But I think
- 8:40Speaker 1: the original comment was like the poster was not excited
- 8:46Speaker 1: about the what's the word non support of actors who
- 8:51Speaker 1: left for Great American Family, And I think if you
- 8:55Speaker 1: don't know the whole backstory, there's a lot of like
- 8:57Speaker 1: great American Country, Great American family snark going around, and
- 9:01Speaker 1: so if you don't know the back story, it just
- 9:02Speaker 1: feels like, oh, CCB left and now there's sour grapes.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's not really the case. Right.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Although do you notice have you listened to Hallmark Channel
- 9:12Speaker 1: Radio on Sirius at all a little bit? Do you
- 9:14Speaker 1: know who the voice of the Hallmark Channel radio is?
- 9:16Speaker 1: I have no idea it's lazy Shbear. Hi, I'm Lacy
- 9:19Speaker 1: Shbar and I'm the voice of Hallmark Channel Radio.
- 9:21Speaker 2: And I think it's lean of chrise. It's very clear
- 9:23Speaker 2: who the new Queen of Christmas is.
- 9:26Speaker 1: I think, honestly, that would have happened regardless, because she
- 9:31Speaker 1: was edging out CCB as in, you know, pulling the
- 9:35Speaker 1: viewers in. And yeah, yeah, so there's no sour grapes
- 9:38Speaker 1: when actors leave. We are just all for inclusive programming
- 9:43Speaker 1: and channels and actors that support that.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Yes, and of sorry.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Period t Let's talk The Royal Nanny, you guys. We
- 9:50Speaker 1: let our Facebook group choose this movie for us. Yes,
- 9:54Speaker 1: they hate me. Well, let's start with the synopsis. Okay,
- 9:58Speaker 1: here's the synopsis. Five Agent Claire goes undercover as the
- 10:03Speaker 1: Royal Nanny and must overcome the challenges of her assignment,
- 10:08Speaker 1: like resisting the charms of Prince Colin while keeping the
- 10:11Speaker 1: family safe at Christmas. Stars a whole bunch of people.
- 10:15Speaker 1: I'm not going to butcher their names.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Wow, Rachel Scarston.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Dan Janote, Greta Sacchi. Did I do it? This movie
- 10:27Speaker 1: was filmed on location in Belgium, set in London. Set
- 10:32Speaker 1: in London, yes, yes, And the quote Kensington Palace in
- 10:37Speaker 1: this movie is Oudonk Castle, which is located on the
- 10:40Speaker 1: outskirts of the Belgian city of Ghent, and there are
- 10:44Speaker 1: rooms within this castle that are available as a bed
- 10:47Speaker 1: and breakfast on Airbnb. All of the scenes of the
- 10:51Speaker 1: Christmas Market were filmed at the Palace of Charles of
- 10:54Speaker 1: Lorraine in their square in Brussels.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Oh exciting. There's a number of.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Belgian filming looks and I'll leave a link in the
- 11:01Speaker 1: show notes to those because many of them I can't
- 11:03Speaker 1: pronounce and I do not want to do the count
- 11:05Speaker 1: dragged of Belgium a disservice by attempting to pronounce them. Gosh,
- 11:10Speaker 1: we are at that Ireland movie and somebody emailed us
- 11:13Speaker 1: and just was not kind about like the pronunciation. No,
- 11:18Speaker 1: I'm sorry, but I will say I love this article
- 11:20Speaker 1: because we often have a hard time finding information about
- 11:23Speaker 1: specific filming locations, and this breaks down where the fake
- 11:27Speaker 1: Frogmore Palace is and where a number of these locations are.
- 11:31Speaker 1: So if you are interested in Belgian filming locations, we
- 11:34Speaker 1: will leave a link to that article in today's show notes.
- 11:37Speaker 1: This wee star is Rachel Scarston. She was also in
- 11:41Speaker 1: the Hallmark movie Marry Me at Christmas with Trevor Donovan
- 11:44Speaker 1: in twenty seventeen. Sorry, Sam standard Trevor Donovan. I'm not
- 11:48Speaker 1: a fan. I'm not a Donna fan. That's what he
- 11:51Speaker 1: no legit, that's what he calls his fans, or they
- 11:54Speaker 1: call himself. And he was on Dancing with the Stars
- 11:56Speaker 1: a couple of weeks ago, and he's like a show
- 11:58Speaker 1: out to the Donna fans and I was like, oh God,
- 12:00Speaker 1: I want to die. And it's not because he's over
- 12:02Speaker 1: at GAF. It's just because I think he's a weird dude. Yeah.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:07Speaker 1: The only note I hear I have about Rachel I
- 12:08Speaker 1: haven't seen her in anything other than Fifty Shades of Gray.
- 12:13Speaker 1: I don't remember her. I don't remember a lot of
- 12:15Speaker 1: details of that movie. I'm a little ashamed of you
- 12:18Speaker 1: even admit that.
- 12:19Speaker 2: I was gonna say, I've read all the books, but
- 12:22Speaker 2: I haven't seen the movie.
- 12:23Speaker 1: But I have no idea who she plays in that movie.
- 12:25Speaker 1: I liked her, I liked her. Yeah, Greta Sachi plays missus,
- 12:30Speaker 1: miss Lansberry or Scary Poppins, whatever you want to call her.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Why are you laughing? Because that's a great nickname.
- 12:37Speaker 1: It is. I remember her as Harrison Ford's side piece
- 12:41Speaker 1: in the nineteen nineties movie Presumed Innocence, which is a
- 12:45Speaker 1: great movie. It's usually on HBO. Okay, I recently watched it,
- 12:49Speaker 1: but like within the last couple of years. I remember
- 12:51Speaker 1: like coming home after school drop off and I was like, oh,
- 12:55Speaker 1: this is not I'm gonna sit here for two hours
- 12:56Speaker 1: and watch this movie. It's a good movie. It's a
- 12:59Speaker 1: real done it Okay. And I don't think I think
- 13:03Speaker 1: she's the one who gets killed. I can't remember, to
- 13:05Speaker 1: be honest. Okay, Anyway, it's a good movie. You should
- 13:08Speaker 1: watch it.
- 13:08Speaker 2: But I haven't seen her.
- 13:09Speaker 1: I mean, I was so familiar with her name, but
- 13:12Speaker 1: I haven't seen her in anything since that movie. And
- 13:15Speaker 1: she has done definitely been working with lots of stuff,
- 13:18Speaker 1: Lots and lots of stuff. Dan Janott plays Colin, who's
- 13:21Speaker 1: not new to Hallmark. He was on twenty five episodes
- 13:23Speaker 1: of The Good Witch, in addition to some other Hallmark movies.
- 13:26Speaker 2: But you know, we hear long story short.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Know him best as Ryan Decker aka Pinstripe from The
- 13:32Speaker 1: Bold Type. Yeah, Megan texted me, she's like Pinstripe and
- 13:35Speaker 1: I'm like, I don't know what you're talking about. Well,
- 13:38Speaker 1: he's in this movie. He's in this movie, a high
- 13:41Speaker 1: point of this movie. This movie was written by Brooke Durham,
- 13:44Speaker 1: who also wrote Hidden Gems. Among her fourteen acting credits.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Brooke Durham has fourteen acting credits acting credits. What has
- 13:55Speaker 1: she been in writing credits? I'm sorry, okay, Yeah, So,
- 13:58Speaker 1: like you said, she wrote Hidden Gems, which starred Hunter King,
- 14:01Speaker 1: who just signed a multi picture.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Deal with The Channel.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Is Hunter King the sister of Yes, Joey King from
- 14:09Speaker 1: that Kissing Wood series.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 14:11Speaker 1: Oh they look very similar. They look like sisters. Yes, yeah,
- 14:16Speaker 1: very similar.
- 14:16Speaker 2: I like, is that the same? It's not the same.
- 14:18Speaker 2: I really liked her in Hidden Gems. I really liked
- 14:20Speaker 2: her cool.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm glad she's coming to the Channel. Movie was
- 14:23Speaker 1: directed by Jonathan Wright, who also directed Jolly Goood Christmas
- 14:28Speaker 1: with Will Kemp.
- 14:30Speaker 2: We will leave a link to our.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Review for that movie. Also Christmas Ceo from last year.
- 14:36Speaker 1: I Believe It's that one again, right, real phone toy
- 14:39Speaker 1: phone Yep, yep, Goodwitch and Mix Up in the Mediterranean.
- 14:44Speaker 1: He also directed Angel Falls on novel Holiday which is
- 14:47Speaker 1: a Jen Lily joint that. Oddly enough, my husband and
- 14:49Speaker 1: I watched this past weekend. Is it any good? You know?
- 14:52Speaker 1: Not really a fan of gen I thought it was cute.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Actually that's all I got for news and notes me too.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Let's move on to first impressions. Go ahead. If the
- 15:01Speaker 1: kids can set up so many pranks, someone's not doing
- 15:05Speaker 1: their job. Ah, what are you got?
- 15:07Speaker 2: This is like Kevin McAllister Saves the Royals? Oh?
- 15:11Speaker 1: Interesting? Interesting? Do you think people are getting the Kevin McAllister.
- 15:16Speaker 2: That's a home alone reference? Yeah, I get it.
- 15:19Speaker 1: I get you all right.
- 15:20Speaker 2: You guys give up? Are you thirsty for more?
- 15:23Speaker 1: You guys watch that? Maybe way too much? Have you
- 15:25Speaker 1: watched it this holiday season yet?
- 15:27Speaker 2: Not yet?
- 15:28Speaker 1: It's on the list though, yes always, Thank god guys.
- 15:31Speaker 1: We Our first Christmas movie of the year is Yogi
- 15:35Speaker 1: Bears First Christmas, which we watched last night. Is it
- 15:38Speaker 1: a cartoon? Yes, it's a cartoon. How is a thirty
- 15:41Speaker 1: minute cartoon? It's like two hours, whole feature link movie
- 15:46Speaker 1: like cartoons. And now that my children are older, they're
- 15:48Speaker 1: watching and they're like, why is his scarf changing color?
- 15:52Speaker 1: It's red and now it's green. Thirty seconds later in
- 15:55Speaker 1: the same scene, where did Booboo come from?
- 15:57Speaker 2: Booboo's there?
- 15:57Speaker 1: Now, Boo Boo's not the whole time, my son, He's like,
- 16:01Speaker 1: the continuity in this movie is terrible, but it's it's
- 16:05Speaker 1: a cartoon though, right when did that come out? O?
- 16:09Speaker 2: It's old? Okay? So total side note? Is it?
- 16:12Speaker 1: Like, do you feel a little uncomfortable? Like are there
- 16:16Speaker 1: parts in it that are could be like slightly racist
- 16:18Speaker 1: or like slice slightly inappropriate in a twenty twenty two lens?
- 16:21Speaker 2: Oh gosh, you.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Act like I'm watching it the carefully. I don't think
- 16:25Speaker 1: Yogi Bear's First Christmas is problematic.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Because I will tell you we've watched.
- 16:30Speaker 1: I think it's rude off the Red Nose Reindeer where
- 16:32Speaker 1: it's like they look like pay Nation. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 16:34Speaker 1: super massagistic, like it's just I but I think it
- 16:40Speaker 1: just was the time.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I know.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Yoga Bear's First Christmas is not super like that. Like
- 16:44Speaker 1: the Jellystone Lodge is gonna get shut down because they're
- 16:46Speaker 1: gonna build a freeway and the owner is coming to
- 16:49Speaker 1: decide if she wants to sell to the developers.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Sounds like a Hallmark movie.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Yeah, Anyway, what did we like about The Royal Nanny. Well,
- 16:58Speaker 1: I have to tell you I fell asleep while watching it.
- 17:02Speaker 1: I tried to watch it four times, and then finally
- 17:05Speaker 1: in my third time, when I actually sat down to
- 17:08Speaker 1: watch it, that's when I fell asleep. And then I
- 17:09Speaker 1: had to wake up and then rewind the whole thing
- 17:11Speaker 1: and rewatch it again. So that tells you how much
- 17:15Speaker 1: I like this movie. But I will first say that
- 17:17Speaker 1: I enjoyed Rachel Scarston Scarston. I spilled her name around,
- 17:23Speaker 1: Harris says Scatston Scarceton. I thought she was pretty effortless
- 17:27Speaker 1: in her scenes. Like, I thought she was a good actor,
- 17:30Speaker 1: with the exception of actually being like an m I
- 17:33Speaker 1: five agent.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Take your hand off your ear, dude.
- 17:36Speaker 1: At the beginning, and she's like in the marketplace and
- 17:38Speaker 1: she's she's following a person.
- 17:41Speaker 2: She's literally like two feet.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Behind her, like talking and I'm holding my hand up
- 17:46Speaker 1: to my ear. Guys, right now, she's like talking into
- 17:49Speaker 1: What is she talking into? Is she pressing the earpiece
- 17:53Speaker 1: so they can hear her? Why does she have to
- 17:54Speaker 1: have her hand to her ear.
- 17:56Speaker 2: I don't that's a good question. I don't know she's
- 17:58Speaker 2: pressing it in so she can hear them better. I
- 18:00Speaker 2: don't know.
- 18:00Speaker 1: I don't, or maybe her microphone is like in her wrist.
- 18:04Speaker 2: I don't, I don't know. But it was just like, okay, whatever.
- 18:07Speaker 1: And then there's a time when, like with the umbrella,
- 18:10Speaker 1: and she's like fighting the guy.
- 18:12Speaker 2: In the scenes where she's the agent.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Not that believable, but all the other scenes I liked.
- 18:18Speaker 1: So I have to say that after sitting with this movie,
- 18:21Speaker 1: I don't hate it.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Really. Let me tell you how I watched it.
- 18:24Speaker 1: I watched it on Peacock because I watched it just
- 18:27Speaker 1: like you know, a day after its release. It is
- 18:30Speaker 1: great when they frontload it with all the commercials, right,
- 18:32Speaker 1: It's great because I have the ability to fast forward
- 18:36Speaker 1: through commercials on Friendly and on YouTube TV. However, it's
- 18:39Speaker 1: like one hundred and thirty seconds of commercials and then
- 18:42Speaker 1: it runs and you can tell where the commercial breaks
- 18:44Speaker 1: are supposed to be, and I kept like picking up
- 18:46Speaker 1: the remote, but I didn't have to. I love it
- 18:49Speaker 1: just run straight through. It's an enjoyable experience. If you
- 18:51Speaker 1: have peacock, I recommend it watching it that way.
- 18:54Speaker 2: I didn't.
- 18:55Speaker 1: I had hard time finding the Hallmark Hub like it
- 18:58Speaker 1: was not super obvious.
- 18:59Speaker 2: It's not there. Interface is not great.
- 19:01Speaker 1: No, Anyway, the viewing experience was enjoyable, and I will
- 19:06Speaker 1: continue to watch some movies that way.
- 19:09Speaker 2: Here's what I liked.
- 19:10Speaker 1: I like the idea of intrigue in a Hallmark movie.
- 19:14Speaker 1: It's a little different, change things up a little bit.
- 19:17Speaker 1: There's a plot to kidnap the royals. There are things
- 19:20Speaker 1: that I thought were silly about at the umbrella is silly.
- 19:23Speaker 1: The fact that she like hooks the guy around his
- 19:25Speaker 1: ankle and there's like Vodevi'll like whoo.
- 19:29Speaker 2: It's silly.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Yes, However, do I actually want her like with a gun?
- 19:36Speaker 1: Do I want violence in my Hallmark movies?
- 19:39Speaker 2: Not really?
- 19:41Speaker 1: So kind of enjoyed it, Okay. I don't want damge
- 19:48Speaker 1: not sweaty and with like a gash over his eye,
- 19:51Speaker 1: like he's being tortured while he's being held hostage. Okay,
- 19:55Speaker 1: I need him in this break clean, little storage knit
- 19:57Speaker 1: where he's just sitting in the middle where it comes table,
- 20:00Speaker 1: in his little chair, waiting to be rescued.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Okay.
- 20:03Speaker 1: I have so many thoughts on that, but I will
- 20:05Speaker 1: wait for it.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Okay, all right, and did not.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I was impressed that he's not an actual British person.
- 20:15Speaker 2: His accent was great, right, The accent was pretty good.
- 20:18Speaker 1: I actually looked up because I was like, oh, was
- 20:19Speaker 1: he doing an American accent on the bow type.
- 20:21Speaker 2: This whole prime and I wonder he's a Canadian. So No,
- 20:25Speaker 2: he had a good accent.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Yeah, this was not a reverse Will Kemp situation.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.
- 20:32Speaker 1: I think people sound better with a fake British accent
- 20:34Speaker 1: than a fake American accent, although Tom Holland has maybe
- 20:37Speaker 1: disproven that. Tom Holland maybe because my first introduction to
- 20:43Speaker 1: him was with.
- 20:44Speaker 2: His American accent.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Yeah, so, and your brain tells you that that's what
- 20:47Speaker 1: he sounds like. I didn't hate the kids in this movie.
- 20:50Speaker 1: You know me, I have a history of not liking
- 20:53Speaker 1: child actors.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Yeah. I thought they were kind of cute.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Actually, the little boy was real super cute, and the
- 21:01Speaker 1: daughter was fine. I just thought it was cute. And
- 21:03Speaker 1: that one scene where she's wearing the blow up reindeer
- 21:06Speaker 1: antlers on her head and like she's letting them throw
- 21:08Speaker 1: the rings at her. The whole scene was really cute
- 21:10Speaker 1: because everybody got in on it.
- 21:12Speaker 2: It was fun. I liked it. I like the kids.
- 21:15Speaker 1: She was real natural and that scene, She's like, what
- 21:17Speaker 1: I get in on it? And you know you can
- 21:18Speaker 1: buy that on Amazon. I was thinking I might because
- 21:21Speaker 1: I was like, should I bring that to Christmas? Ee?
- 21:23Speaker 2: You got? Yeah? Fun for all ages, that's all I got.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Okay, finally for me, I did like Claire and I
- 21:31Speaker 1: and my nose says Pinstripe.
- 21:32Speaker 2: I like them together. Hmm. I thought they were.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Like their flirtation was really good. I thought it wasn't
- 21:39Speaker 1: and they did not like each other too a little bit,
- 21:41Speaker 1: but it wasn't like so obvious that I was like, uh,
- 21:45Speaker 1: they hate each other and then now they like care
- 21:47Speaker 1: for each Yeah, you know.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Yes.
- 21:49Speaker 1: He was just like I just want to have fun.
- 21:50Speaker 1: I don't really need a babysit are looking over my
- 21:53Speaker 1: shoulder while I'm hanging out with.
- 21:54Speaker 2: My right but I did it did the story did
- 21:56Speaker 2: make me think. I was like, is he the bad guy?
- 21:58Speaker 1: Like? I did stop to think, like, I mean, they
- 22:01Speaker 1: said it in the movie too, Like she was like
- 22:03Speaker 1: are we looking him to protect him? Or is he
- 22:04Speaker 1: the enemy or whatever? And I thought, oh, that'd be
- 22:08Speaker 1: a real twist if he was the bad guy. M
- 22:12Speaker 1: But anyway, Okay, what'd you wish for? Well, I did
- 22:17Speaker 1: not find the plot that interesting.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Okay, here's I think.
- 22:21Speaker 1: I was so expecting a Christmas movie and you didn't
- 22:26Speaker 1: really get on No, so it like kind of blindsided
- 22:31Speaker 1: me a little bit of like, oh, this is like
- 22:33Speaker 1: a espionage treason type ALIAS want to be I don't whatever.
- 22:39Speaker 1: I just was not expecting it. So I think that's
- 22:42Speaker 1: what made me not like it.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Okay, I don't know. I don't know. Okay, I feel
- 22:46Speaker 2: bad about it.
- 22:47Speaker 1: Don't feel bad about your feelings.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Feel your feeling.
- 22:50Speaker 1: I think this should have been a Hallmark Movies and
- 22:53Speaker 1: Mysteries movie. Well, yeah, why is the mystery not on
- 22:56Speaker 1: Hallmark Movies?
- 22:57Speaker 2: And I don't understand?
- 22:58Speaker 1: And I think that our Italian Christmas memory should have
- 23:01Speaker 1: been one on the Hallmark channel.
- 23:04Speaker 2: Yeah, how did they decide that? I don't know. I
- 23:06Speaker 2: don't know. I only have.
- 23:08Speaker 1: One wish, and it's that I understood or had any
- 23:11Speaker 1: idea why they were after the royals simply because they're royal.
- 23:15Speaker 2: They just want to get them. What did they want
- 23:17Speaker 2: them for? I don't know.
- 23:18Speaker 1: And Meg and I had like talked as we were
- 23:20Speaker 1: putting together our notes for this episode.
- 23:22Speaker 2: We're like, what happened? Who was the bay? Who was
- 23:25Speaker 2: the bad guys?
- 23:26Speaker 1: I believe it's someone on calling security team. I think
- 23:28Speaker 1: that's what we discovered.
- 23:30Speaker 2: I just I don't know.
- 23:33Speaker 1: I don't like movie like royal movies. I have no
- 23:35Speaker 1: interest in the royal family or even pretend royal families.
- 23:39Speaker 2: I like royals. My husband didn't watch this.
- 23:41Speaker 1: He was like, I don't do royals, so oh really
- 23:44Speaker 1: I thought about your husband this weekend because one of
- 23:46Speaker 1: the movies I watched they had a lot of blue ornaments,
- 23:49Speaker 1: and I was like, oh, he would hate this. I
- 23:52Speaker 1: just want Christmas at the Golden Dragon. Okay, a lot
- 23:55Speaker 1: of blue ornaments in that? All right, good movie, though
- 23:59Speaker 1: I liked it. I haven't did you see that?
- 24:01Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 24:02Speaker 1: I really don't know. It's just the be roll of London.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Pretty certain's the same one we saw into like a Christmas.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Girl was like, oh there it is again, same establishing shots. Yeah, yeah,
- 24:10Speaker 1: that holiday with the lights draping down the alleyway.
- 24:14Speaker 2: Mm hmmm, I don't have did you see that? I
- 24:16Speaker 2: just have some question.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Let's hear, why did Colin wait until the party had
- 24:20Speaker 1: started to invite Claire to attend the party. Oh, like,
- 24:23Speaker 1: she just don't have that dress. She was like, I
- 24:25Speaker 1: think I have something perfect for this event.
- 24:27Speaker 2: You were being a nanny.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Why did you bring a formal dress that happens to
- 24:30Speaker 1: be perfect for a holiday party?
- 24:32Speaker 2: Yeah? Why why did you do that?
- 24:36Speaker 1: And and and that the mom, the Princess Rose Yes,
- 24:41Speaker 1: says like, oh, it's okay, I'll just call the night nanny.
- 24:43Speaker 1: I was like, night nanny.
- 24:45Speaker 2: These aren't babies, Like.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Well, I guess they would need somebody to attend to
- 24:50Speaker 1: them if their mother was so unavailable like she was.
- 24:53Speaker 1: But you know, but if they're at a party, they're
- 24:54Speaker 1: old enough to attend a party, and they were at
- 24:57Speaker 1: the party. No, they were at the party, and the
- 24:59Speaker 1: nan he is not expected to be their security. They
- 25:02Speaker 1: have their own security detail. So they're maybe eight and
- 25:05Speaker 1: twelve attending a party. They're not going to choke on
- 25:09Speaker 1: something or yeah exactly. Did you think it was weird
- 25:12Speaker 1: that she stood in line with him too and like
- 25:15Speaker 1: greeted people. M I thought the whole Christmas party was
- 25:18Speaker 1: weird because it was already like underway and then he
- 25:22Speaker 1: invites her and then they kind of like go back
- 25:24Speaker 1: to welcome people to the party.
- 25:26Speaker 2: Didn't make sense on Prince Colin.
- 25:28Speaker 1: She's like, I'm gonna go upstairs and change like that
- 25:31Speaker 1: would have taken an hour at least, parlor hair and
- 25:34Speaker 1: all of that. Why was he hiding outside? He doesn't
- 25:38Speaker 1: like the attention? Right?
- 25:40Speaker 2: Is that what his deal was? Oh?
- 25:42Speaker 1: I did think in this scene. I know we're all
- 25:45Speaker 1: over the place here, but when she when they were
- 25:47Speaker 1: trying to nab that money guy for the charity or river,
- 25:52Speaker 1: and she like told the story about like growing up
- 25:55Speaker 1: in a group home, and I was like, that kind
- 25:58Speaker 1: of got to me a little bit for her, And
- 26:02Speaker 1: I'm glad that she expressed those feelings to him as
- 26:06Speaker 1: as a child who grew up that way and what
- 26:08Speaker 1: the gifts meant to them. Yes, and I liked the
- 26:11Speaker 1: writing like a president Christmas.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Is not a luxury. Yeah, I know.
- 26:16Speaker 1: I actually did get in my head going, okay, like
- 26:19Speaker 1: I'm gonna go get smack I when we do this
- 26:21Speaker 1: every year anyway, But I was like, I'm gonna go
- 26:22Speaker 1: shopping for my gifts this year for the children's charities
- 26:27Speaker 1: my last did you see? That is more of a
- 26:29Speaker 1: come on? And that is at the end they're finally together,
- 26:34Speaker 1: although they haven't kissed yet, and Rose is like.
- 26:37Speaker 2: You're part of the family, and Colin will make it
- 26:38Speaker 2: officials soon.
- 26:39Speaker 1: They've known there for two weeks, they haven't kissed yet.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Come on, you're royal. You know there's more that goes
- 26:45Speaker 2: into it.
- 26:46Speaker 1: Than there's a lot of vetting, Isn't it like they're
- 26:50Speaker 1: not just gonna have She's well, she would be a
- 26:52Speaker 1: princess or well not no, she would never be a princess.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Well whatever, she's gonna give up her job to now
- 27:00Speaker 1: be part of the royal family.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. Pumped the breaks
- 27:04Speaker 2: Princess Rose. I liked Princess Rose. I did too. I
- 27:08Speaker 2: did like her. What did you rate this movie?
- 27:11Speaker 1: I gave it two and a half stars, mostly because
- 27:15Speaker 1: it was super un hallmarky like it just I just
- 27:20Speaker 1: I don't know. I also gave it two and a
- 27:22Speaker 1: half stars. Oh that's why I'm surprised. Two and a
- 27:25Speaker 1: half seems like a real high rating.
- 27:26Speaker 2: For I don't like it.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Took a lot of shi t over my one star
- 27:30Speaker 1: on a Maple Valley Christmas?
- 27:32Speaker 2: So did you a little bit? People are hopping in
- 27:34Speaker 2: those girls? God of Hallmark TMS? Yes, me. Oh no,
- 27:40Speaker 2: Whny's gonna be patting her reviews from here on it.
- 27:43Speaker 1: I am not, I'm not, I'm not. I just it
- 27:46Speaker 1: was just okay, just I wanted a Christmas movie. I'm
- 27:49Speaker 1: in the mind frame of a Christmas movie.
- 27:51Speaker 2: This was not it. No, you heard it here first,
- 27:54Speaker 2: Wendy wants a Christmas.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Was watching Diehard and people calling it a Christmas movie?
- 27:58Speaker 2: Did you know what I mean?
- 28:00Speaker 1: Sure?
- 28:01Speaker 2: Great example. Okay, next week, Big Week, three Wise Men
- 28:05Speaker 2: and a baby.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Appointment TV watching, and we will also be I'm not
- 28:12Speaker 1: gonna be home and not airs that night. I'm gonna
- 28:14Speaker 1: be at the Lizzo concert. Guys, is it on Saturday night?
- 28:17Speaker 2: Saturday night?
- 28:17Speaker 1: I'm guessing Saturday? Yeah, sorry, I'll watch it the next day.
- 28:20Speaker 2: We are also.
- 28:23Speaker 1: Watching reviewing Inventing the Christmas Prince.
- 28:28Speaker 2: It's a new addition to our calendar. It is.
- 28:30Speaker 1: I don't know what we were thinking when we originally
- 28:33Speaker 1: put our calendar together, but I like Tia Tamara. I
- 28:37Speaker 1: don't know which one it is is Tamara. I don't
- 28:40Speaker 1: think Tia does Hallmark movie.
- 28:41Speaker 2: Oh she doesn't.
- 28:42Speaker 1: I think she works for another network, Lived Lifetime. Oh okay,
- 28:47Speaker 1: we don't hate Lifetime over here. Oh, Jody Sweeten, I
- 28:51Speaker 1: record Mary Swist. Miss haven't watched it yet.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Not that good?
