- 0:03Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken.
- 0:05Speaker 2: It's your dose of the hottest influencer and pop culture
- 0:08Speaker 2: news twice a week.
- 0:09Speaker 1: I'm Amy Torber. I'm Sophie Torber. And I'm Kate Torber.
- 0:13Speaker 2: And coming up on today's show, a Victorian content creator
- 0:16Speaker 2: is sacked over a racist comedy sketch. Molly May's baby
- 0:21Speaker 2: name pranks go viral as the influencer keeps us waiting.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Lily Brown and Jet Kenny tie the knot in a
- 0:27Speaker 2: low-key civil ceremony.
- 0:29Speaker 1: And what's making our group chat?
- 0:31Speaker 2: But first, Sophie, you have rather a shameful story that
- 0:34Speaker 2: you would like.
- 0:35Speaker 1: To bring to the podcast.
- 0:37Speaker 2: I almost wasn't going to bring it because it is
- 0:39Speaker 2: that shameful and that embarrassing.
- 0:40Speaker 1: But I thought, you know, why not put it out
- 0:42Speaker 1: there and be vulnerable?
- 0:45Speaker 2: So it actually ties into something we were talking about
- 0:48Speaker 2: on the Mums group a couple of weeks ago. So
- 0:51Speaker 2: influencer Tully Smythe, she was raging when she bought a yogo.
- 0:56Speaker 2: And it was one of her pregnancy cravings. And she
- 0:58Speaker 2: found it. It was a choc chip yoga. And basically
- 1:00Speaker 2: there were no choc chips in the packet. And since then,
- 1:03Speaker 2: I have been craving one. And I was at the shops.
- 1:07Speaker 2: I was doing a last minute shop. My husband was
- 1:10Speaker 2: looking after our son at home. I raced in around
- 1:12Speaker 2: 5.30 and I thought, fuck it. I'm going to have
- 1:15Speaker 2: one of those and eat it in the car because
- 1:17Speaker 2: I didn't want to bring it home to the chaos
- 1:20Speaker 2: of my house.
- 1:21Speaker 1: And I thought, I also didn't want to be judged
- 1:23Speaker 1: having one.
- 1:24Speaker 2: I'm actually surprised that that made you want to get
- 1:26Speaker 2: a yoga because if anything that put me off, like
- 1:28Speaker 2: the threat of not having chocolate chips. Well, I actually
- 1:30Speaker 2: got the M & M ones just in case. So
- 1:32Speaker 2: I got in the car, loaded all the groceries in,
- 1:35Speaker 2: sat down. painting the picture.
- 1:37Speaker 1: It was pitch black outside, open the yoga.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Poured in the M & Ms. And then I'm like,
- 1:42Speaker 2: holy fuck, where's the spoon?
- 1:45Speaker 1: So I was that hungry.
- 1:47Speaker 2: And also I didn't actually want to bring home, as
- 1:49Speaker 2: I said, I didn't really want to be judged. So
- 1:51Speaker 2: I literally ended up having to drink it in the car.
- 1:54Speaker 2: And I didn't realize that the woman next to me
- 1:56Speaker 2: was staring in at me.
- 1:59Speaker 1: And it got really sad because it then got to
- 2:02Speaker 1: the stage where the yoga was so thick that I.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Had to start licking the bottom out of it. Anyway,
- 2:07Speaker 2: It was a very sad turn of events.
- 2:09Speaker 1: What is going on at the.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Yogo factory, though? Like one week, no chocolate chips. Next week,
- 2:13Speaker 2: no spoons. I thought the same thing, Amy, because Tully
- 2:16Speaker 2: did mention something about the spoons in that video that
- 2:19Speaker 2: she put up.
- 2:20Speaker 1: But it was actually that they had removed the spoons.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Oh.
- 2:24Speaker 2: So, I mean, I still can't even pen one of
- 2:26Speaker 2: those viral messages to them so that I get stocked
- 2:29Speaker 2: up with a whole load of free stuff because Tali
- 2:31Speaker 2: was literally delivered a whole pack.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Of, I think she got like 10 yogos.
- 2:35Speaker 2: I mean, I think there's still a case for you, Sophie,
- 2:36Speaker 2: because that's rather a very disappointing moment. Well, I mean,
- 2:40Speaker 2: maybe we need to start a petition for them to
- 2:42Speaker 2: put the spoons back in because, I mean, that is
- 2:44Speaker 2: a snack that you eat on the go. I mean,
- 2:47Speaker 2: I think they're trying to help the environment. They're plastic spoons.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Put a.
- 2:50Speaker 1: put a wooden one in there.
- 2:52Speaker 2: So for the image of you in a dark deserted
- 2:54Speaker 2: car park, drinking a Yogo is going to live with
- 2:57Speaker 2: me forever. It actually reminds me a lot of, remember
- 3:00Speaker 2: that guy, Happy Alan? I spoke about him last year.
- 3:03Speaker 2: He's the guy that tries to eat cream buns in
- 3:06Speaker 2: three bites. I think he's got like nearly a hundred
- 3:09Speaker 2: thousand followers now. He has moved on from cream buns
- 3:12Speaker 2: and he now does this thing where he'll go to
- 3:14Speaker 2: a restaurant and he'll order burrata and And so the
- 3:17Speaker 2: waiter will put it down and he'll be like, so
- 3:19Speaker 2: how am I supposed.
- 3:20Speaker 1: To eat this? And they start explaining it and he
- 3:22Speaker 1: sucks it down in one gulp. It's disgusting.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Well, like so it's not even burst. It's just like
- 3:29Speaker 2: the whole thing.
- 3:30Speaker 1: The whole thing. It's like a duck. Like it doesn't
- 3:32Speaker 1: chew anything.
- 3:33Speaker 2: I'm glad I'm being compared to this man. But, I mean,
- 3:36Speaker 2: here's another idea for the marketing team at Yogo. Maybe
- 3:39Speaker 2: they need a pouch, you know, like a bit of
- 3:41Speaker 2: an on-the-go number.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Yes.
- 3:44Speaker 2: But that seems like a bit of a choking hazard
- 3:46Speaker 2: if you've got like eminence.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Maybe crush them up. Do you know what, Sophie? Do
- 3:51Speaker 1: you know what I wish.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Happened when you were at the car park in this
- 3:53Speaker 2: low moment of yours? I wish my husband rolled into
- 3:56Speaker 2: the car park because on another episode of The Mums Group,
- 3:59Speaker 2: you threw him under the bus and said that he
- 4:00Speaker 2: was trying to kill time in the car park and
- 4:02Speaker 2: not get back to me and our son.
- 4:04Speaker 1: It would have been a bit of payback.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Not only was Sophie draining time sitting in the car,
- 4:08Speaker 2: but she was eating a fucking yoghurt.
- 4:12Speaker 1: The worst thing is... Drinking a yogurt.
- 4:13Speaker 2: The worst thing is the evidence is still in my car.
- 4:15Speaker 1: I need to get rid of it. You can argue.
- 4:18Speaker 4: That this is comedy and it's satire and it's funny,
- 4:22Speaker 4: but it's actually not.
- 4:24Speaker 2: A Victorian content creator has been sacked from her workplace
- 4:28Speaker 2: after she was accused of racially vilifying Indigenous people in
- 4:32Speaker 2: an offensive online comedy sketch. The so-called comedian faced swift
- 4:36Speaker 2: backlash last week after she depicted a white person claiming
- 4:40Speaker 2: to identify as an Indigenous Australian.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Kate, can you tell us more?
- 4:45Speaker 2: Well, the content creator at the centre of this controversy
- 4:49Speaker 2: is Lisa Jane Spencer, and she is a self-described comedian
- 4:52Speaker 2: who has 67,000 followers on Instagram.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Are you saying she's self-described because she's not funny?
- 4:58Speaker 2: Well, yes, but also because it's not like she's doing
- 5:01Speaker 2: comedy shows.
- 5:02Speaker 1: She just does comedy skits on Instagram.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Her videos are the most unfunny videos I have ever seen.
- 5:09Speaker 1: I mean, they're just awkward and offensive, clearly. Racist as well.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Now, on Wednesday, which just so happened to be the
- 5:16Speaker 2: final day of Reconciliation Week, Lisa posted a 36-second clip,
- 5:21Speaker 2: which she claimed was a satirized episode of SBS's program Insight.
- 5:26Speaker 2: She even included the SBS logo in her video. Now,
- 5:29Speaker 2: SBS has since come out and condemned the video, confirming
- 5:32Speaker 2: they didn't produce, endorse or authorise the content. I mean,
- 5:36Speaker 2: good of them to point that out, but I don't
- 5:37Speaker 2: think it was needed. It was pretty obvious she just
- 5:39Speaker 2: lifted the logo. The issue there, though, is they actually
- 5:43Speaker 2: could have a case against her for copyright breach.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Now, in this video, Lisa wore.
- 5:48Speaker 2: White face paint and dressed in a faux fur jacket
- 5:50Speaker 2: with a badge featuring the Aboriginal flag and the slogan,
- 5:54Speaker 2: always was, always will be. And she introduced herself as
- 5:57Speaker 2: Aunty Lisa and then said this. I started identifying as
- 6:02Speaker 2: a black fella a few months ago.
- 6:05Speaker 3: I am Aboriginal.
- 6:09Speaker 1: End of story.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Now, in the vision, she ticked a fake government form
- 6:14Speaker 2: and mocked both a traditional clapstick dance and a smoking ceremony. Now,
- 6:18Speaker 2: if it couldn't get any worse, at the end of
- 6:20Speaker 2: the video, she said Aboriginal identity transcends skin colour and
- 6:24Speaker 2: I am Aboriginal, end of story. She then placed a
- 6:27Speaker 2: petrol can in front of her nose. Now, as you
- 6:30Speaker 2: can imagine, the backlash was swift. Lisa was labelled a
- 6:34Speaker 2: racist and told to take down the video. Instead, she
- 6:37Speaker 2: doubled down, claiming it was just a joke and that
- 6:40Speaker 2: she likes to push boundaries.
- 6:42Speaker 1: She also wrote, I stand by the jokes. This is comedy.
- 6:45Speaker 2: I make fun of everyone equally. Plenty of people love
- 6:48Speaker 2: the video. I find the welcome to country offensive. She
- 6:52Speaker 2: then went on to claim that the parody was based
- 6:54Speaker 2: on an episode of Insight that featured Roxanne Roxy Tickle. Now,
- 6:58Speaker 2: she's a transgender woman who a judge found had been
- 7:01Speaker 2: indirectly discriminated against when she was barred from a female-only
- 7:05Speaker 2: social media app. So Lisa said, I created a parody
- 7:08Speaker 2: using the same format, the same logo, and the same
- 7:11Speaker 2: serious interview style to satirise what I see as an
- 7:14Speaker 2: even more absurd idea, white people claiming Aboriginal identity for benefits.
- 7:19Speaker 2: This is not satire though. This is just flat out racism.
- 7:22Speaker 2: I love that she's trying to act like she's so
- 7:24Speaker 2: clever and all. You didn't get the joke because it's
- 7:26Speaker 2: a satirical throwback of a clip.
- 7:30Speaker 1: That you didn't see.
- 7:30Speaker 2: The fact that you're having to explain what the joke
- 7:33Speaker 2: is because no one finds it funny and is offended
- 7:35Speaker 2: by it should be a red flag enough that this
- 7:37Speaker 2: joke has gone too far. The thing with Lisa is
- 7:39Speaker 2: it's clear she is going for this manosphere red pill
- 7:42Speaker 2: audience and because she's also been posting a lot of
- 7:45Speaker 2: videos targeted at Abby Chatfield. So I heard Abby talking
- 7:48Speaker 2: about this on her podcast. I think it could have
- 7:51Speaker 2: been earlier this year. And the same videos she has
- 7:54Speaker 2: shared about Abby Chatfield, not only are extremely offensive, but
- 7:58Speaker 2: they're also just not fucking funny. Like it's not even
- 8:01Speaker 2: a good parody. Abby was saying herself that when she
- 8:03Speaker 2: saw these videos, she's like, babe, Why don't you have
- 8:06Speaker 2: a curly haired wig or something that makes it look
- 8:08Speaker 2: like it's me? And after Abby's podcast went out, Lisa
- 8:12Speaker 2: went and bought herself a wig. But I can say
- 8:13Speaker 2: the videos still aren't funny with the wig. It's just,
- 8:16Speaker 2: it's sort of like that awkward, like it's almost like
- 8:18Speaker 2: she's on red faces at primary school, like that sort
- 8:21Speaker 2: of acting, which is just embarrassing for everybody.
- 8:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:24Speaker 1: And she's trying to turn.
- 8:25Speaker 2: It into this debate about whether comedy should be allowed
- 8:28Speaker 2: to offend people.
- 8:29Speaker 1: But this really isn't what it's about.
- 8:30Speaker 2: It's about whether what she did actually constitutes comedy. And
- 8:35Speaker 2: I would argue it doesn't because humour has been used
- 8:38Speaker 2: for a long time to expose the absurdity of racism
- 8:41Speaker 2: and and also to dismantle prejudice. But that is not
- 8:45Speaker 2: what was going on in this video. It wasn't clever.
- 8:48Speaker 2: There was no underlining message or insight that Lisa was
- 8:52Speaker 2: trying to share. It didn't challenge prejudice or expose hypocrisy,
- 8:56Speaker 2: which is what satirical comedy often does.
- 8:58Speaker 1: This punchline, the punchline was literally Aboriginal people.
- 9:02Speaker 2: I mean, not only was it incredibly lazy humour that
- 9:05Speaker 2: wasn't funny... It was also very harmful because all she
- 9:09Speaker 2: has done is try to reinforce stereotypes that First Nation
- 9:12Speaker 2: people have spent years trying to fight against. Now, since
- 9:17Speaker 2: the backlash, Lisa Jane Spencer has told the media that
- 9:20Speaker 2: she stands by her video and she apologised to absolutely nobody.
- 9:25Speaker 2: She also claimed she wasn't prejudiced and makes jokes about
- 9:28Speaker 2: all kinds of people, not just Aboriginal people. Now, in
- 9:31Speaker 2: terms of this comment, she is correct. Her jokes have
- 9:35Speaker 2: also extended to perpetuating racist stereotypes about Indian people because
- 9:39Speaker 2: five days prior to posting the comedy sketch depicting an
- 9:43Speaker 2: Indigenous person, she shared another apparently satirical video in the
- 9:48Speaker 2: same format targeting the Indian community. So in the video,
- 9:52Speaker 2: she wore a traditional Indian outfit and spoke in an
- 9:55Speaker 2: Indian accent. She told the camera, I was assigned Australian
- 9:58Speaker 2: at birth, but I identify as Indian. She then went
- 10:01Speaker 2: on to make a jibe about needing deodorant and threw
- 10:03Speaker 2: rubbish on her front lawn. I just can't even begin
- 10:06Speaker 2: to imagine how confronting, upsetting and distressing it would be
- 10:11Speaker 2: as an Indian person and also a First Nations person.
- 10:14Speaker 2: to see this sort of content popping up on their
- 10:16Speaker 2: social media feeds? Well, Australia's first Indigenous bachelorette, Brooke Blurton,
- 10:20Speaker 2: actually came out and shared her views on the video.
- 10:23Speaker 2: She said that she was centred by so many of
- 10:25Speaker 2: her followers and she, quite rightly, called Lisa Jane Spencer out.
- 10:30Speaker 2: So she told her 248,000 followers that she hated that
- 10:34Speaker 2: she had to make this video but couldn't sit back and.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Let it happen. Let's take a listen to some of
- 10:38Speaker 1: what she said.
- 10:38Speaker 3: I really hate that I have to make this video. Um,
- 10:42Speaker 3: But I cannot sit back and just let this happen.
- 10:45Speaker 3: I'd like for this person to actually take accountability for this.
- 10:48Speaker 3: I'm so sick of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- 10:50Speaker 3: being like the brunt of the joke because it's not funny.
- 10:53Speaker 4: You can argue that this is comedy and it's satire
- 10:57Speaker 4: and it's funny, but it's actually not. And this is why.
- 11:00Speaker 3: Because let's be clear, it's not humour.
- 11:04Speaker 1: It's a racist stereotype.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Now, Brooke went on to urge her followers to report
- 11:09Speaker 2: the video rather than engaging with it. As she said,
- 11:11Speaker 2: that's what Lisa wants.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Brooke's video.
- 11:14Speaker 2: was met with overwhelming support and I couldn't agree more
- 11:17Speaker 2: with what she said. I mean you can hear how
- 11:19Speaker 2: articulate and passionate Brooke is there and obviously also how
- 11:23Speaker 2: hurt she is by this video and I just can't
- 11:26Speaker 2: comprehend that Lisa would be sitting back and seeing this
- 11:29Speaker 2: reaction from First Nations people but still be adamant that
- 11:32Speaker 2: she's not apologising and that the video is funny. I
- 11:35Speaker 2: mean I think it shows a lot about who Lisa
- 11:37Speaker 2: is as a person. Now, less than 24 hours after
- 11:41Speaker 2: Lisa published her skit, she was dismissed from her job
- 11:44Speaker 2: from a wellness retreat called the Peninsula Hot Springs. Now,
- 11:48Speaker 2: she claims that she was fired on the spot with
- 11:50Speaker 2: no notice and she says that she's been seeking legal
- 11:53Speaker 2: counsel because, quote, people should not be fired from their
- 11:56Speaker 2: work for their political views and comedy. She also went
- 11:59Speaker 2: on to allege that people illegally doxed her to her
- 12:02Speaker 2: employer by sending them the video. This actually renews my
- 12:06Speaker 2: faith in humanity that they were so swift in getting
- 12:08Speaker 2: rid of her because she's claiming that these are political views. No,
- 12:11Speaker 2: these are racist views that you were choosing to share
- 12:14Speaker 2: to a large audience online. And that reflects in the
- 12:17Speaker 2: business that you're working at. So they have every right
- 12:20Speaker 2: to get rid of this individual. Let's be honest though,
- 12:22Speaker 2: as much as I want to give this business props
- 12:24Speaker 2: for acting swiftly.
- 12:25Speaker 1: They had to.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Like there was no way that they could keep her
- 12:28Speaker 2: employed at the company. It was only a matter of
- 12:31Speaker 2: time before news articles started quoting that she worked at
- 12:35Speaker 2: this place. I mean, they did not want to align
- 12:38Speaker 2: with her at all, particularly a health retreat. I mean,
- 12:40Speaker 2: she's saying, oh, these people illegally doxed me by sending
- 12:43Speaker 2: the video that I created to my employer. If you
- 12:46Speaker 2: stand by that video and you're happy to put it
- 12:48Speaker 2: out there to thousands and thousands of people, You shouldn't
- 12:51Speaker 2: care if your employer sees it.
- 12:52Speaker 1: And it's not.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Doxing either because you've put your name and face to it. So,
- 12:56Speaker 2: you know, your employer can search your name and find
- 12:59Speaker 2: your Instagram video. If you can believe it, a so-called
- 13:03Speaker 2: anonymous friend of Lisa's has set up a GoFundMe account
- 13:07Speaker 2: to raise funds to support her now that she has
- 13:09Speaker 2: been fired. I'm guessing that perhaps that is Lisa herself.
- 13:14Speaker 1: I don't know. It could be a friend, but I mean,
- 13:16Speaker 1: I think you could be right, Sophie.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Now, in the blurb of this GoFundMe, it claimed that
- 13:21Speaker 2: Lisa had been, quote, brutally bullied in a response to
- 13:24Speaker 2: a harmless comedy video.
- 13:25Speaker 1: And it went on to.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Say that far left activists discovered Lisa's place of work
- 13:30Speaker 2: and threatened her employer, resulting in her losing her job.
- 13:33Speaker 2: The message then urged people to rally around Lisa to
- 13:36Speaker 2: demonstrate that free expression and good comedy cannot be cancelled
- 13:40Speaker 2: by the far left. The most disturbing thing about this
- 13:43Speaker 2: GoFundMe is The goal was set at $ 10, 000 and she's
- 13:47Speaker 2: already at the time of recording got over $ 47, 000 worth
- 13:51Speaker 2: of donations in it.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Like that is absolutely ludicrous.
- 13:55Speaker 2: If that doesn't show what's wrong with society, I don't
- 13:57Speaker 2: know what else does. I mean, I can just imagine
- 13:59Speaker 2: the people that are donating to this. Lily Brown and
- 14:03Speaker 2: Jet Kennedy have surprised their followers by tying the knot
- 14:06Speaker 2: in a civil ceremony. The influencer and the Iron Man
- 14:10Speaker 2: broke the news on Instagram and sharing photos of the
- 14:13Speaker 2: low-key celebrations. Now, Soph, there was an outpouring of love
- 14:17Speaker 2: for the couple, but also a lot of confused people. Yeah,
- 14:20Speaker 2: because leading into the wedding, the couple was pretty tight-lipped
- 14:23Speaker 2: about their plans, but most of Lily's followers assumed that
- 14:27Speaker 2: she would have this big fuck-off wedding in Italy because
- 14:30Speaker 2: that is where Jet popped the question last year.
- 14:33Speaker 1: And I think a lot of people.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Were surprised last week when Lily dropped that the couple
- 14:37Speaker 2: were a week away from becoming husband and wife. So
- 14:39Speaker 2: everyone was very much waiting for the weekend to get
- 14:43Speaker 2: any glimpse of what her dress was like. There were
- 14:46Speaker 2: also a lot of eyeballs on influencer Em Davies' Instagram.
- 14:49Speaker 2: She is, of course, Lily's best friend and maid of honor.
- 14:53Speaker 2: And people started looking for clues. They wanted to know
- 14:55Speaker 2: if Em and her family were boarding a plane, perhaps
- 14:58Speaker 2: to Europe. But of course, none of those clues came.
- 15:02Speaker 2: And it led people to even speculate that maybe there
- 15:05Speaker 2: was some bad blood between Em and Lily because it
- 15:08Speaker 2: looked like Em wasn't attending Lily's big day. So on Sunday,
- 15:12Speaker 2: Lily and Jet broke the big news on Instagram, dropping
- 15:15Speaker 2: a carousel of wedding photos. The joint post was captioned Mr.
- 15:19Speaker 1: And Mrs. Kenny.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Now in the photos, Lily was wearing a stunning white
- 15:23Speaker 2: two-piece suit with a netted headband while Jet was wearing
- 15:27Speaker 2: an all black suit. And from the photos, it looked
- 15:30Speaker 2: like they got married in some sort of town hall
- 15:33Speaker 2: with very minimal family and friends there. Lily has since
- 15:36Speaker 2: clarified that it was actually an Airbnb that they got
- 15:39Speaker 2: married in.
- 15:40Speaker 1: What did you guys think of the outfit?
- 15:42Speaker 2: I mean, it was very unique. It was not what
- 15:43Speaker 2: I was expecting at all. I mean, obviously she looks stunning.
- 15:47Speaker 2: I saw a lot of people comparing her outfit to
- 15:49Speaker 2: Jewel Leeper's wedding dress. So when I originally saw it,
- 15:52Speaker 2: I was like, oh, okay. So they've got married and
- 15:55Speaker 2: she's really wanted to look a bit different. Like she
- 15:58Speaker 2: hasn't gone down the gown route. She wants to look
- 16:00Speaker 2: really stylish, which she did. Yeah, it was refreshing to
- 16:03Speaker 2: see something different because I feel like we are seeing
- 16:06Speaker 2: most influencers and celebrities and even just everyday people wearing
- 16:10Speaker 2: the same strapless silhouette.
- 16:12Speaker 1: I mean, I have to put myself out there. I
- 16:14Speaker 1: wore the same one that everyone keeps wearing.
- 16:16Speaker 2: And Kate, you touched on the fact that this outfit
- 16:18Speaker 2: was very similar to Jewel Leaper's. What was also similar
- 16:21Speaker 2: is the fact that Jewel Leeper also got married in
- 16:23Speaker 2: an intimate civil ceremony first, but she had a number
- 16:27Speaker 2: of other dresses when she got married in Sicily. So
- 16:30Speaker 2: maybe Lily was dropping a few clues here that this
- 16:32Speaker 2: isn't the only wedding. I love that she didn't gatekeep
- 16:36Speaker 2: when it came to her outfit. So Lily shared that
- 16:38Speaker 2: the two-piece suit came from Post Meridiem. So the skirt
- 16:42Speaker 2: was $ 845 while the jacket was $ 1, 369. I mean, not cheap,
- 16:48Speaker 2: but I suppose reasonable when it comes to a wedding outfit.
- 16:51Speaker 2: That being said, it seems pretty likely that this is
- 16:54Speaker 2: the first of many wedding looks we're going to see
- 16:56Speaker 2: from Lily Brown. I mean, when these photos first dropped,
- 16:59Speaker 2: a lot of people assumed that maybe the couple had
- 17:02Speaker 2: decided against having a big celebration. I think people really
- 17:05Speaker 2: liked it and they thought, oh, you know, they're just
- 17:06Speaker 2: choosing to keep things intimate and romantic.
- 17:09Speaker 1: It was a bit chic, wasn't it?
- 17:10Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, Nine News reported that the wedding was
- 17:13Speaker 2: a low-key affair and Lily posted a rundown of the
- 17:16Speaker 2: day on her Instagram stories.
- 17:18Speaker 1: And it seemed pretty chilled.
- 17:19Speaker 2: So she kicked things off by sharing a close-up photo
- 17:22Speaker 2: of the couple holding hands in bed with their wedding
- 17:25Speaker 2: bands on and wrote, so much to catch you all
- 17:27Speaker 2: up on.
- 17:28Speaker 1: We've been in a bubble.
- 17:29Speaker 2: She then revealed that on the morning of the wedding,
- 17:32Speaker 2: she was crashing out over her fingernails. And luckily she
- 17:36Speaker 2: was able to squeeze in a last minute appointment an
- 17:38Speaker 2: hour before they left their house to get ready at
- 17:41Speaker 2: a hotel.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Cutting it fine there.
- 17:43Speaker 2: I was actually surprised because she had, I don't know
- 17:45Speaker 2: if they were black. They kind of looked like a
- 17:47Speaker 2: really deep burgundy bordering on black. And I was like, oh,
- 17:50Speaker 2: that's unusual for bridal nails. Well, I think they were
- 17:53Speaker 2: chocolate brown, which is the color of the season at
- 17:55Speaker 2: the moment. But again, it sort of played into that
- 17:57Speaker 2: very chic vibe. Lily also showed the hotel that they
- 18:01Speaker 2: got ready in, revealing that they got ready together, which
- 18:03Speaker 2: I thought was really sweet. She showed photos of Jet
- 18:06Speaker 2: steaming his suit and also her doing her makeup for
- 18:09Speaker 2: the event, which I thought was a nice touch. She
- 18:11Speaker 2: then visited Edwards and co for a blow wave. And
- 18:14Speaker 2: the hairdresser that did her wedding hair, was the same
- 18:17Speaker 2: hairdresser that did her hair for a first date with Jet,
- 18:20Speaker 2: which was almost five years ago.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Talk about a full circle moment there.
- 18:23Speaker 2: All I could think was, who gets their hair professionally
- 18:25Speaker 2: done for a date?
- 18:26Speaker 1: But again, I suppose it was a pretty big occasion.
- 18:29Speaker 1: She was meeting her husband. Yeah.
- 18:30Speaker 2: And the backstory is that Lily's mum spotted Jet Kenny
- 18:34Speaker 2: on SAS and was like, Lily, you've got to date him.
- 18:37Speaker 1: So I suppose that they sort of Or building him
- 18:40Speaker 1: up in their head as this celebrity.
- 18:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:42Speaker 2: I mean, even though Lily Brown is very well known
- 18:44Speaker 2: in the influencer space, Jet has more of a mainstream profile.
- 18:47Speaker 1: His parents are literally sporting royalty.
- 18:50Speaker 2: So maybe that's why she went to all of the effort.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Talking about Jet's famous family, they then joined Lily and
- 18:56Speaker 2: Jet as well as Lily's family for a small reception,
- 18:59Speaker 2: which was held at the couple's favorite restaurant, which was
- 19:02Speaker 2: a steak and oyster restaurant. And the table was dressed
- 19:04Speaker 2: really beautifully. There were white flowers all over it, as
- 19:07Speaker 2: well as name tags. So It did look like a
- 19:10Speaker 2: beautiful reception. And that's why people were so confused. There
- 19:13Speaker 2: were so many mixed messages. On one hand, it was like, oh,
- 19:15Speaker 2: this is a very chic wedding. You know, they didn't
- 19:18Speaker 2: want a big crowd there. They wanted it to be
- 19:20Speaker 2: very intimate. And then there were other clues that, hey,
- 19:23Speaker 2: this is just a civil ceremony. It turns out that
- 19:26Speaker 2: a bigger wedding is happening overseas. So Women's Weekly were
- 19:30Speaker 2: the first to report that the couple were set to
- 19:32Speaker 2: jet off to Italy for a second, more lavish ceremony.
- 19:36Speaker 2: An insider told the publication that, Jett proposed in Italy
- 19:39Speaker 2: at a beautiful beachside location in 2025, and while they're
- 19:43Speaker 2: remaining tight-lipped about the wedding venue, knowing Jett, such a
- 19:46Speaker 2: beach boy at heart, he will most certainly want to
- 19:48Speaker 2: tie the knot by the seat. The publication also went
- 19:41Speaker 2: on to say that the wedding is set to be
- 19:43Speaker 2: a three-day extravaganza with a rehearsal dinner ceremony and also
- 19:46Speaker 2: a recovery day. The insider said, Lily is seeing this
- 20:10Speaker 2: as a no expenses spared extravaganza. She wants their special
- 20:14Speaker 2: day to be one to remember. Does anyone else feel
- 20:18Speaker 2: there's a bit of tone in that quote? It's like
- 20:20Speaker 2: they're trying to infer that Lily is seeing Jet and
- 20:23Speaker 2: his parents as some sort of cash cow and she's
- 20:25Speaker 2: going to spend up big and take advantage of the situation.
- 20:28Speaker 1: I mean, it's sort.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Of at odds with the rhetoric that Lily Brown has
- 20:32Speaker 2: been putting out there since she launched her own pajama business.
- 20:36Speaker 2: She has spoken quite vulnerably about the fact that she
- 20:39Speaker 2: doesn't have as much money coming through as she did
- 20:41Speaker 2: when she was an influencer. And, you know, she's had
- 20:44Speaker 2: to downsize her house and, you know, they've moved back
- 20:47Speaker 2: in with Jet Kenny's father. I actually think that maybe
- 20:51Speaker 2: they've sold the wedding exclusive to Women's Day. And Women's
- 20:56Speaker 2: Day are currently drumming up some advertisement for it. I
- 20:59Speaker 2: actually think if there is an exclusive in the works,
- 21:01Speaker 2: it's to one of Women's Day's rivals because I think
- 21:05Speaker 2: the tone was completely off in this article. I mean,
- 21:07Speaker 2: it continued saying that Grant Kenny is flying the whole
- 21:10Speaker 2: clan over, including the grandkids.
- 21:12Speaker 1: And he's set to foot the bill. It then went
- 21:15Speaker 1: on to.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Say that Grant and his girlfriend will be sure everyone
- 21:17Speaker 2: travels in style as the couple always fly business and
- 21:21Speaker 2: first class. And the grandkids will be no exception as
- 21:23Speaker 2: they're the apple of their grandpa's eye. But isn't this
- 21:26Speaker 2: just women's magazines and how they write? Like they're very
- 21:30Speaker 2: stuck in the 90s. Yeah, well, they were sort of
- 21:32Speaker 2: playing Lisa and Grant off against each other because then
- 21:35Speaker 2: they were saying that Lisa and her boyfriend will be
- 21:38Speaker 2: making their own travel arrangements, aka suggesting that they'll be
- 21:42Speaker 2: flying economy. And they then suggested that Lisa's boyfriend could
- 21:46Speaker 2: moonlight as entertainment entertainment. as he's apparently one of the
- 21:50Speaker 2: best Elvis impersonators in the country. I mean, I can't
- 21:53Speaker 2: quite see Lily Brown allowing that at her wedding. I mean,
- 21:57Speaker 2: in terms of accuracy, Women's Day was bang on because
- 22:00Speaker 2: Lily has confirmed on Instagram that a second ceremony is coming.
- 22:04Speaker 2: So she shared more photos of the civil ceremony and wrote,
- 22:08Speaker 2: civil formalities done and dusted. Now onto the main event,
- 22:11Speaker 2: I guess. It is an odd way to go about
- 22:14Speaker 2: it because usually if an influencer couple has a civil ceremony,
- 22:17Speaker 2: they wait to release those photos after the biggest ceremony
- 22:21Speaker 2: because they want all the hype to be on the
- 22:23Speaker 2: bigger event. I mean, remember when Anna McAvoy got married,
- 22:28Speaker 2: she then later released those photos because they were a
- 22:30Speaker 2: bit more low key and they weren't really the moment
- 22:33Speaker 2: that they wanted everyone to focus on. Well, it's not
- 22:35Speaker 2: something people generally promote because it's sort of more about
- 22:39Speaker 2: ticking a box and making sure that they can go
- 22:41Speaker 2: ahead and with the big wedding. I do think it's
- 22:44Speaker 2: an interesting strategy though, because it's created a lot of hype.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Like people were really keen to see the photos and
- 22:49Speaker 2: then it created speculation because people are like, hang on,
- 22:53Speaker 2: are they getting married elsewhere?
- 22:55Speaker 1: And I think it actually is a pretty good.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Story arc because you're like, well, you know, we've seen
- 23:01Speaker 2: what Lily chose for her civil ceremony dress. Is she
- 23:05Speaker 2: going to go that same style or is it going
- 23:07Speaker 2: to be completely different? I mean, my guess would be
- 23:08Speaker 2: completely different. Yeah, I mean, I'm captivated now. I'm going
- 23:11Speaker 2: to be keeping an eye on it. Now, I feel
- 23:13Speaker 2: like M Davies was working in overtime to try and
- 23:17Speaker 2: convince her followers that there was no bad blood between
- 23:20Speaker 2: her and Lily. I mean, there was even a Daily
- 23:23Speaker 2: Mail article speculating that the pair aren't friends anymore because
- 23:28Speaker 2: she didn't appear to be present at the civil ceremony
- 23:30Speaker 2: or the dinner that followed.
- 23:32Speaker 1: But I'm confused. Wasn't it just family? Like this was
- 23:34Speaker 1: obviously a small thing.
- 23:36Speaker 2: We actually haven't seen any photos of who attended that dinner.
- 23:39Speaker 2: But the next day there appeared to be some sort
- 23:41Speaker 2: of recovery lunch. One of her friends, Louie, was in
- 23:45Speaker 2: the photo. So Em didn't appear to be at any
- 23:47Speaker 2: of those celebrations. In saying that, Em did reshare Lily's
- 23:51Speaker 2: wedding photos to her Instagram story and she wrote screaming, crying,
- 23:55Speaker 2: all the rest. She also wrote under the wedding post,
- 23:58Speaker 2: she said, no words, just perfect, perfect, fucking perfect. And
- 24:03Speaker 2: underneath Lily's second post confirming the second ceremony, she wrote,
- 24:07Speaker 2: let's go, to which Lily replied, yay, baby. So, I mean,
- 24:11Speaker 2: I think everyone's reading a bit too much into it.
- 24:14Speaker 2: I think everyone needs to cut M.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Davies a bit of slack.
- 24:16Speaker 2: She's obviously preparing herself to go overseas for the main event.
- 24:20Speaker 2: She doesn't need to be there for the civil ceremony,
- 24:23Speaker 2: does she? I mean, she's got an almost two-year-old. She's busy. Now,
- 24:27Speaker 2: we have spent over the past couple of weeks some
- 24:30Speaker 2: time analysing which Aussie influencers will be on this guest list,
- 24:35Speaker 2: but it seems like we should have been trying to
- 24:36Speaker 2: work out which A-listers will be attending because the Woman's
- 24:40Speaker 2: Day article also said that Grant has reportedly extended the
- 24:43Speaker 2: invite to his high-profile friends, including Karl Stefanovic. Do we
- 24:47Speaker 2: consider Karl Stefanovic an A-lister?
- 24:49Speaker 1: Well, sorry. I mean, well, in Australia, yes.
- 24:52Speaker 3: Okay.
- 24:53Speaker 1: It's a pretty big deal.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Interesting. I mean, I think it would be more of
- 24:55Speaker 2: a big deal if Sharni and Michael rock up personally. Well,
- 24:58Speaker 2: Michael did comment under the post. He said, you both
- 25:01Speaker 2: look so stunning. Congrats, guys. Tammy Hembro also commented, she
- 25:05Speaker 2: wrote so special. Congratulations, Angel.
- 25:08Speaker 1: So I wonder if we will see them celebrating in Italy.
- 25:12Speaker 2: I'm a bit disappointed that it is an international wedding
- 25:14Speaker 2: because I think if it was held on the Gold Coast,
- 25:18Speaker 2: it would be more likely that Sharni and Michael and
- 25:20Speaker 2: the old crew would.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Be at it.
- 25:22Speaker 2: But I'm thinking it's really only going to be the
- 25:25Speaker 2: really close friends that get an invite to this and
- 25:28Speaker 2: are going to travel for it. Now, we've got a
- 25:31Speaker 2: new segment for you, and if it's successful and people
- 25:33Speaker 2: like it, well, we're going to run with it every Friday.
- 25:36Speaker 2: So the segment is called Group Chat, and we're going
- 25:38Speaker 2: to discuss what's been blowing up our own group chats. Now,
- 25:41Speaker 2: I need to start with Belmont Kamele's viral dance with
- 25:45Speaker 2: Kid LAROI. So I feel like he doesn't need an
- 25:48Speaker 2: introduction to this podcast, but for those who have not
- 25:50Speaker 2: yet watched Off Campus, here is, of course, the actor
- 25:53Speaker 2: who plays Garrett Graham on the show.
- 25:56Speaker 1: Like most millennial women, he is my entire For You
- 25:59Speaker 1: page at the moment. Kate, I think you mean Garrett Graham.
- 26:02Speaker 2: Graham.
- 26:02Speaker 1: That's how they all say it in the US.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Graham.
- 26:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Now, over the weekend, Belmont was pulled out of the
- 26:08Speaker 2: crowd at Kid LAROI's concert to do a dance with
- 26:11Speaker 2: the singer on stage. Now, the video was, of course,
- 26:14Speaker 2: uploaded to TikTok and it's gone absolutely viral. At the
- 26:18Speaker 2: time of recording, it's had over 11 million views. Now, unexpectedly,
- 26:22Speaker 2: the dance has given a lot of people the ick.
- 26:25Speaker 2: So he's gone from the hottest guy of the moment
- 26:27Speaker 2: to an ick in a matter of moments. Now, one
- 26:30Speaker 2: of the top comments on the video was, this gave
- 26:33Speaker 2: me the ick, which got 31,000 likes. Someone else added,
- 26:37Speaker 2: this actually snapped me back into reality.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Which had over 18,000 likes. Another person replied, me too.
- 26:44Speaker 2: I'm so grateful. What was I thinking? I think I
- 26:47Speaker 2: must have been watching a very different video from these
- 26:50Speaker 2: people because if anything, this made me love the guy more.
- 26:53Speaker 2: Like I've seen people saying that, how did this video
- 26:55Speaker 2: go for five hours? Like, you know, it was quite enchanting.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Like I don't know how people got the ick off this.
- 27:02Speaker 2: I mean, my husband got the ick off it.
- 27:04Speaker 1: He was like, oh my God, he thinks so highly
- 27:07Speaker 1: of himself.
- 27:08Speaker 2: I more agreed with those who were saying, how did
- 27:10Speaker 2: this video go for two hours? Because It was just
- 27:13Speaker 2: fun to watch. Like he was having fun with it.
- 27:16Speaker 2: He was doing the dance from the show, which is
- 27:17Speaker 2: the biggest point that people have missed.
- 27:19Speaker 1: Well, a lot of.
- 27:19Speaker 2: People were saying that they were fine with the dance
- 27:22Speaker 2: until he lifted up his top to reveal his abs
- 27:25Speaker 2: and that's a bit that they're.
- 27:26Speaker 3: Like, ugh.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Yeah, but the whole thing was it was the dance
- 27:29Speaker 2: from the drunk Shakespeare event on the show, as you said, Sophie,
- 27:32Speaker 2: and in that scene he did a striptease.
- 27:34Speaker 1: So that was the reference there. I do have to.
- 27:37Speaker 2: Admit I kind of forgot about that scene. So I
- 27:41Speaker 2: was like, when he did lift up and showed a
- 27:44Speaker 2: little peekaboo of his abs, I was kind of like, oh,
- 27:47Speaker 2: I wasn't expecting that. Because why people love the character
- 27:49Speaker 2: is he's such a green flag. He's so emotionally intelligent
- 27:53Speaker 2: and he was a little bit shy at dancing. He
- 27:55Speaker 2: didn't love dancing and he did this really cute dance.
- 27:58Speaker 2: So the dance that we saw at the Kid LAROI
- 28:01Speaker 2: concert was kind of that dance from the scene, but
- 28:04Speaker 2: on steroids. He was really like giving it to the camera.
- 28:06Speaker 1: People said he was like eye fucking himself, but it's like,
- 28:09Speaker 1: He was putting on a character. He was, it was
- 28:11Speaker 1: amping it up. I'm with Sophie.
- 28:12Speaker 2: Like, did we all watch the same video? It was hypnotic. Like,
- 28:15Speaker 2: I'm actually shocked when I saw people saying this was
- 28:17Speaker 2: an ick. I was like, fuck, this was like the
- 28:19Speaker 2: opposite of an ick for me. He's literally given everyone
- 28:22Speaker 2: what they wanted. Like everyone's been crying out.
- 28:24Speaker 1: Can you recreate the dance? Recreate the dance.
- 28:26Speaker 2: People have been recreating on TikTok. This guy must be
- 28:29Speaker 2: so confused. He's like, I've literally just given everyone what
- 28:32Speaker 2: they fucking want and now everyone's saying I'm an ick.
- 28:35Speaker 1: The thing is because everyone was going nuts about.
- 28:37Speaker 2: That little dance he did on the talk show and
- 28:39Speaker 2: I kept seeing that on TikTok and he probably like, oh,
- 28:41Speaker 2: if I pull this out, everyone will be pleased. To
- 28:43Speaker 2: be honest, I actually think that 90% of people enjoyed it.
- 28:46Speaker 2: Did you see he shared... I think it was in
- 28:49Speaker 2: response to the negative feedback. He shared this video of
- 28:51Speaker 2: him on the dance floor doing a very different, it
- 28:54Speaker 2: was like a very self-deprecating like odd dance.
- 28:57Speaker 1: With his castmates. It was sort of like a rock dance,
- 28:59Speaker 1: wasn't it?
- 29:00Speaker 2: Like he was sort of doing a bit of heavy
- 29:01Speaker 2: metal head bashing or whatever it's called. If we were
- 29:03Speaker 2: comparing the dances, that gave me more of an ick
- 29:06Speaker 2: than his like choreographed dance.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Look, this man's name and the word ick should not
- 29:10Speaker 1: be used in the same sentence. Do you know what though?
- 29:12Speaker 2: I actually think the only thing that could have given
- 29:14Speaker 2: people the ick was when he had to quickly rush
- 29:16Speaker 2: and put his wallets and keys in his little cargo
- 29:19Speaker 2: pants pocket.
- 29:20Speaker 1: I mean, that's the only thing that I was like, oh.
- 29:22Speaker 2: Do you know what gave me the ick from this
- 29:24Speaker 2: video was the guy behind who was literally pushing, trying
- 29:29Speaker 2: to get himself in between Kid Leroy and Belmont. He
- 29:32Speaker 2: was wearing a trucker cap and he had a beard.
- 29:35Speaker 2: And I'm like, mate, stop ruining this because people were
- 29:38Speaker 2: criticising Belmont for not knowing the words of the song.
- 29:41Speaker 1: It's like, he knew the words.
- 29:42Speaker 2: He actually chose the song Girls for the off-campus scene.
- 29:46Speaker 1: There was this fucking guy in the back annoying him.
- 29:49Speaker 2: What's disappointing is it just reignites that stereotype that women
- 29:54Speaker 2: don't truly know what they want.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Because one minute we all wanted.
- 29:57Speaker 2: Him and then the next we're like, Oh, he did
- 30:00Speaker 2: one small thing and now he's like, he's dead to me.
- 30:02Speaker 1: No, do you know what it is?
- 30:04Speaker 2: It's that people don't like it when people know they're attractive.
- 30:08Speaker 2: And that whole dance was people saying, oh, he knows
- 30:11Speaker 2: he's hot.
- 30:12Speaker 1: He was a model.
- 30:14Speaker 2: Now the next thing that's been blowing up our group
- 30:16Speaker 2: chat is the fact that Molly Mae has revealed the
- 30:18Speaker 2: gender of her second child. I think everyone's well aware
- 30:21Speaker 2: that it's a boy. However, she is still teasing us.
- 30:24Speaker 2: She has not told us the name. It's so funny
- 30:27Speaker 2: because before they revealed the gender, someone had put the
- 30:31Speaker 2: birth announcement photo into chat GPT and asked them to
- 30:35Speaker 2: put the colors back into the photo because it was,
- 30:37Speaker 2: of course, black and white.
- 30:38Speaker 1: So they didn't reveal the gender. Anyway.
- 30:40Speaker 2: This video went absolutely nuts because people were like, oh
- 30:43Speaker 2: my God, it's a girl because ChatGPT has made the
- 30:46Speaker 2: blanket pink. And I think that is the biggest lesson there.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Do not trust ChatGPT. They don't know everything.
- 30:52Speaker 1: What a shock.
- 30:52Speaker 2: ChatGPT got it wrong. It was so obvious that it
- 30:56Speaker 2: was a boy. I actually saw this TikTok and someone
- 30:59Speaker 2: shared that the particular swaddle that the baby had on,
- 31:02Speaker 2: it was like from a store that was selling blue swaddles.
- 31:05Speaker 2: So that bit of information confirmed it to me. But
- 31:07Speaker 2: even the fact that Molly said, after finding out she
- 31:11Speaker 2: was pregnant, that that was it for them.
- 31:13Speaker 1: They were happy to have two children.
- 31:16Speaker 2: I felt like that gave it away a bit that
- 31:17Speaker 2: it must be a boy because Tommy has been quite
- 31:20Speaker 2: open about how he wants a son.
- 31:21Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, I definitely thought it was going to
- 31:23Speaker 1: be a boy.
- 31:24Speaker 2: What I love is that Molly has given us a
- 31:27Speaker 2: few tidbits about what it's like in the newborn bubble
- 31:30Speaker 2: at the moment. So she posted a photo of unnamed
- 31:32Speaker 2: son and said what a dream it's been in this
- 31:35Speaker 2: newborn bubble to She also wrote, thank you for healing
- 31:38Speaker 2: so many of my newborn fears, little one. The peace
- 31:41Speaker 2: and happiness I feel this time around is something I
- 31:43Speaker 2: wished for but didn't know would come. The difference compared
- 31:46Speaker 2: to this stage with Bambi is indescribable. Now, as someone
- 31:49Speaker 2: who has a two-year-old son and is in that phase
- 31:52Speaker 2: of life where everyone's like, when are you having a second?
- 31:55Speaker 2: I actually found this really nice to read that she
- 31:57Speaker 2: was having a positive experience with number two. Yeah, I
- 32:00Speaker 2: felt really relieved for her because she I found a
- 32:03Speaker 2: lot of solace in watching Molly May's initial newborn videos
- 32:07Speaker 2: when my son was born.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Because I was like, oh, someone else gets it. Someone
- 32:10Speaker 1: else is struggling and finding it tough.
- 32:11Speaker 2: But it is beautiful to hear that second time around,
- 32:14Speaker 2: it's been a much better experience for her. In terms
- 32:17Speaker 2: of the name, I am absolutely convinced that Tommy Fury
- 32:20Speaker 2: is going to release this name when he has his
- 32:23Speaker 2: next big fight because in a YouTube video when Molly
- 32:26Speaker 2: was still pregnant, she dropped that they were thinking about
- 32:29Speaker 2: putting the name onto Tommy's box.
- 32:32Speaker 1: Is it called boxing shorts? Whatever they are. They're exactly
- 32:35Speaker 1: boxing shorts. That's what they are.
- 32:37Speaker 2: So I think that they're going to wait for that
- 32:38Speaker 2: moment to reveal it. I mean, imagine if he then
- 32:41Speaker 2: ends up losing that fight though. That would be a
- 32:43Speaker 2: bit embarrassing. I'm guessing we'll know the name just before
- 32:46Speaker 2: the fight and then he will have it also on
- 32:48Speaker 2: the outfit.
- 32:48Speaker 1: But there must be a reason why they're waiting this long.
- 32:51Speaker 1: It makes sense that they're waiting for the fight. Like
- 32:53Speaker 1: why else?
- 32:54Speaker 2: They're building up so much hype over it as well
- 32:57Speaker 2: that there is now a trend going around on TikTok
- 33:00Speaker 2: where people are pranking their friends or their boyfriends that
- 33:04Speaker 2: Molly has called the new baby Bambino.
- 33:07Speaker 1: My mate's just announced the baby name.
- 33:09Speaker 2: Who's that?
- 33:09Speaker 1: It's a boy because they didn't actually announce it before.
- 33:13Speaker 1: Oh my God.
- 33:14Speaker 2: What?
- 33:15Speaker 1: Guess what it's called. I can't guess. No, guess what
- 33:18Speaker 1: it's called.
- 33:18Speaker 2: Shrek?
- 33:24Speaker 3: No.
- 33:25Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 33:26Speaker 3: Huh?
- 33:28Speaker 1: Something like Roman or Vinicius.
- 33:30Speaker 3: I like Roman.
- 33:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I know, but. No. Bambino.
- 33:35Speaker 2: Shut up.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Shut up.
- 33:39Speaker 2: I shared one of these videos on Outspoken's Instagram account
- 33:42Speaker 2: and To be fair, it was pretty early on when
- 33:45Speaker 2: this trend just first started.
- 33:46Speaker 1: And my mom messaged me being like, oh my God,
- 33:48Speaker 1: I can't believe they released the name.
- 33:50Speaker 2: I have to admit when the first couple of seconds
- 33:52Speaker 2: played and it was like, oh, Molly Mae's revealed the
- 33:54Speaker 2: baby name. I actually clicked off our Instagram story and
- 33:57Speaker 2: went to her page. I'm like, I don't want to
- 33:58Speaker 2: spoil it by this random.
- 34:00Speaker 1: And then I realized that it was actually a prank.
- 34:02Speaker 1: I was like, for fuck's sake.
- 34:03Speaker 2: What I love the most about this trend though, is
- 34:06Speaker 2: that you can tell the boyfriends are actually invested in
- 34:09Speaker 2: what the name is. And their faces kind of light
- 34:12Speaker 2: up when she goes, oh, guess the name. And then
- 34:15Speaker 2: when they're told the fake name, there's this kind of
- 34:18Speaker 2: smug thing like, can you believe it? I actually saw
- 34:21Speaker 2: one where a friend pranked another friend and they told
- 34:24Speaker 2: the girl that the name was Dumbo. They said it
- 34:26Speaker 2: was another Disney character.
- 34:27Speaker 1: And she's like, no way. I think the number one
- 34:31Speaker 1: guess at the moment is Bow.
- 34:33Speaker 2: But I don't think that that really ties in because
- 34:35Speaker 2: Molly said that there's only one other kid that she
- 34:37Speaker 2: knows with this name, but people are saying that it's
- 34:39Speaker 2: Beau spelled in a weird way, whether it's B-E-A-U-X, because
- 34:43Speaker 2: she said she thinks that people will pronounce it wrong.
- 34:46Speaker 1: We're not waiting all this time for her to announce
- 34:48Speaker 1: a kid's name's Beau.
- 34:49Speaker 2: Come on. Yeah, it's not like she said, oh, this
- 34:52Speaker 2: is the weirdest spelling of a normal name you've ever seen.
- 34:54Speaker 2: She said this name has not been heard.
- 34:56Speaker 1: It's a bit different.
- 34:57Speaker 2: Now, the final thing I want to discuss that's been
- 34:59Speaker 2: going off in our group chat is whether or not
- 35:02Speaker 2: we think JLo and Brett Goldstein are actually dating. Now,
- 35:06Speaker 2: I don't think I need to introduce JLo, but for
- 35:09Speaker 2: those not familiar with Brett, like Amy, he is best
- 35:12Speaker 2: known for playing the best character in Ted Lasso, which
- 35:15Speaker 2: is Roy Kent.
- 35:16Speaker 1: I have to admit, I have a massive crush on
- 35:18Speaker 1: Roy Kent. Yeah, you guys were trying to convince me.
- 35:20Speaker 1: You're like, no, no, he's actually hot.
- 35:22Speaker 2: And I looked him up and I'm like, it's not
- 35:23Speaker 2: that he's not attractive, but I would hardly say that
- 35:27Speaker 2: he's A Belmont Camille.
- 35:29Speaker 1: You won't get it unless you watch the show.
- 35:31Speaker 2: It is 100% his character because in this new show,
- 35:35Speaker 2: he's speaking with this really posh accent.
- 35:38Speaker 1: And I'm like, this isn't Roy Kent. Like there's not
- 35:41Speaker 1: quite the same appeal.
- 35:42Speaker 2: See, the show you're referring to is this rom-com that
- 35:45Speaker 2: Brett Goldstein has written for J-Lo. So he actually sent
- 35:49Speaker 2: it to her and put a note on it that said, look,
- 35:52Speaker 2: you are our one and only pick to star in it.
- 35:55Speaker 2: And in the rom-com, he is J-Lo's love interest.
- 35:58Speaker 1: Clever.
- 35:58Speaker 2: I'm yet to watch it, but ever since the story
- 36:00Speaker 2: came out that Brett basically chased J-Lo to be in
- 36:03Speaker 2: it and he's got a big crush on her, the
- 36:05Speaker 2: rumours have been flying that they're dating. And it's really
- 36:08Speaker 2: quite funny because he thought there was no way J-Lo
- 36:11Speaker 2: was going to be in it, but apparently she's a
- 36:13Speaker 2: massive Ted Lasso fan and his character Roy Kent was
- 36:16Speaker 2: her favourite. There's a lot of chemistry between the two
- 36:19Speaker 2: of them in this show. I binged it over the weekend.
- 36:22Speaker 1: It's no Ted Lasso, but it's pretty cute. Like it's
- 36:26Speaker 1: easy watching.
- 36:27Speaker 2: And it's funny because in the show, J-Lo is his
- 36:31Speaker 2: boss and he's sort of this, you know, well, he's
- 36:34Speaker 2: her lawyer basically, but everyone's sort of beneath her in it.
- 36:37Speaker 2: So it's almost like it's playing out in real life.
- 36:39Speaker 2: Like she's this big movie star. He's this like UK
- 36:42Speaker 2: actor that's trying to get to her. But surely this
- 36:44Speaker 2: is all just some PR stunt like Margot Robbie and
- 36:47Speaker 2: Jacob Elordi. You know, they were playing up their connection.
- 36:50Speaker 2: I feel like this is what happens now. Every time
- 36:52Speaker 2: there's a movie out, the stars are just pretending that
- 36:55Speaker 2: they're in awe of each other.
- 36:56Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 36:57Speaker 2: I feel like there could actually be some truth to
- 36:59Speaker 2: it because obviously she's no longer with Ben Affleck.
- 37:01Speaker 1: She is on the market. And a lot of actors
- 37:05Speaker 1: do fall in love on the sets of movies. I mean,
- 37:08Speaker 1: it makes for a perfect wedding speech.
- 37:09Speaker 2: I can just imagine it like, oh, you know, he
- 37:11Speaker 2: wrote this movie for her and then they fell in love.
- 37:14Speaker 2: But I'm actually hoping that it is a publicity stunt
- 37:18Speaker 2: because for some reason, It doesn't sit well with me,
- 37:21Speaker 2: them being together. I actually think that he could be
- 37:24Speaker 2: really good for her because she's always gone for these
- 37:27Speaker 2: big celebrities who are sort of douchebags. I mean, he
- 37:32Speaker 2: is a big celebrity, but it just doesn't seem he's
- 37:34Speaker 2: like on the same scale as the American movie star.
- 37:35Speaker 1: No, but that's what I'm saying. That's why I think
- 37:36Speaker 1: he's good for her because he's not as famous.
- 37:39Speaker 2: Like he's this guy from the UK that's played this
- 37:42Speaker 2: sort of niche character that everyone loves.
- 37:44Speaker 1: I mean, I actually don't.
- 37:45Speaker 2: Personally know too much about him in his private life,
- 37:48Speaker 2: but I could see it.
- 37:50Speaker 1: I think they're from two different worlds coming together, people
- 37:52Speaker 1: like opposites.
- 37:53Speaker 2: Well, J-Lo and Brett have actually shut down the rumors
- 37:57Speaker 2: during an interview on US Today.
- 37:59Speaker 1: Let's throw to the clip.
- 38:02Speaker 4: There's never a time when I'm seen with somebody or
- 38:04Speaker 4: working with somebody where they don't try to put me
- 38:07Speaker 4: with the person.
- 38:08Speaker 1: That's true. I think if you stand near her, that's
- 38:11Speaker 1: what happens. That's what you wish would happen. Yeah, that's
- 38:13Speaker 1: why I've been standing so close.
- 38:15Speaker 3: Well, okay, but I'll just say, because I'm me and
- 38:18Speaker 3: you know me, that was not an answer.
- 38:20Speaker 1: That was not an answer. It was an answer. Yeah,
- 38:22Speaker 1: you didn't say yes or no. Because all these people
- 38:24Speaker 1: that they put me, I think I was with Kevin
- 38:26Speaker 1: Costner this year. I was with, there was a lot
- 38:29Speaker 1: of people. It happens all the time.
- 38:30Speaker 4: That's what happens when you're like a hot eligible single person. Okay.
- 38:34Speaker 4: So you're not dating. We just, okay.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Not dating in real life.
- 38:36Speaker 2: Not dating. Okay. Even though they denied it, I still
- 38:40Speaker 2: feel like they were dancing around it a little bit
- 38:42Speaker 2: too much. I mean, that could be to play into
- 38:43Speaker 2: this whole storyline and make people want to watch it.
- 38:46Speaker 2: But I genuinely do think that there probably is a
- 38:49Speaker 2: little bit more to it.
- 38:50Speaker 1: Why did it feel like he was cheating on Keely
- 38:52Speaker 1: as well?
- 38:52Speaker 2: I know that they broke up anyway at the end
- 38:54Speaker 2: of Ted Lasso not to ruin it, but Ted Lasso
- 38:57Speaker 2: is coming back. Oh, I'm so excited for that. Now, Amy,
- 38:59Speaker 2: are you actually going to listen to us and watch
- 39:01Speaker 2: it because you were all like, oh, I'm too cool.
- 39:03Speaker 1: To watch off campus. I need to watch my boring. Fucking,
- 39:06Speaker 1: what's that show you watch?
- 39:08Speaker 2: Oh, some period drama. Downton Abbey bullshit. And then you
- 39:11Speaker 2: haven't watched Ted Lasso. We have not had one person,
- 39:13Speaker 2: the amount of times you've mentioned Downton Abbey, not one
- 39:15Speaker 2: person has slid into the DMs and.
- 39:17Speaker 1: Be like, yeah, I'm with Amy, that show's sick.
- 39:19Speaker 2: Well, I'll have you know, another one of my favorite shows,
- 39:22Speaker 2: which I have mentioned on the podcast is The Gilded
- 39:24Speaker 2: Age and one Taylor Swift is obsessed with it. So
- 39:29Speaker 2: let's not start judging my taste in TV.
- 39:32Speaker 1: She probably likes Ted Lasso as well. She's probably watching
- 39:35Speaker 1: it so she can do another love story sort of
- 39:37Speaker 1: song about period drama. I feel like she likes a
- 39:38Speaker 1: highbrow type of television, clearly.
- 39:41Speaker 2: You reckon that Travis Kelsey is sitting down with her
- 39:45Speaker 2: and watching highbrow TV. They're not watching any sports drama
- 39:48Speaker 2: like Ted Lasso. Well, on that note, that's where we're
- 39:51Speaker 2: going to leave things today. But if you do enjoy
