- 0:07Speaker 1: It's media podcast.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome to Meet Eater Trivia, the only game show where
- 0:13Speaker 2: conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer new Arth and
- 0:16Speaker 2: today we're joined by Brody Randal, Tresa, Max Logan, Cordy, Nate,
- 0:21Speaker 2: and Christine. This is a ten round quiz show with
- 0:24Speaker 2: questions from Meat Eater's four verticals, which are hunting, fishing,
- 0:27Speaker 2: conservation and cooking, and there is a prize. Meat Eater
- 0:31Speaker 2: will donate five hundred dollars to the conservation organization of
- 0:34Speaker 2: the winner's choosing for the stag of the week. This week,
- 0:36Speaker 2: we're looking at the Shelby Index. The Shelby Index is
- 0:39Speaker 2: where I test the questions on my wife Shelby before
- 0:42Speaker 2: recording an episode. It's usually an indicator of how hard
- 0:46Speaker 2: or easy an episode is, and Shelby often gets half
- 0:49Speaker 2: as many points as the winner. Her highest score ever
- 0:53Speaker 2: is seven and her average score is four point zero five.
- 0:57Speaker 2: And when she got that seven, she would have won
- 0:59Speaker 2: the episode because she had a closer tiebreaker answer than
- 1:03Speaker 2: Yanni that day. Now here's our Infrequently Asked Question segment.
- 1:07Speaker 2: If you have a trivia related question for our crew,
- 1:10Speaker 2: send it to Trivia at the Medeater dot Com with
- 1:13Speaker 2: the subject line I faq THEO Corson, who is the
- 1:16Speaker 2: son of Steve Corson, who is one of our most
- 1:19Speaker 2: prolific question submitters. He says, I'm wondering if you are
- 1:23Speaker 2: ever going to start coming out with more kids trivia
- 1:26Speaker 2: wealth THEO. The plan is to have some available for
- 1:30Speaker 2: you this Christmas break? Is that still the plan? Phil?
- 1:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I think we're going to have four or five
- 1:34Speaker 3: new episodes in end of November December, so yeah, stay tuned.
- 1:39Speaker 2: THEO Christmas Break, we hope to have more Meat Eater
- 1:42Speaker 2: Kids for you, which will include some more Meat Eater
- 1:46Speaker 2: Kids trivia. We have some housekeeping to get to. In
- 1:49Speaker 2: a previous episode of Meat Eater Trivia, we had a
- 1:52Speaker 2: question about the five states that steelhead are native to
- 1:55Speaker 2: according to the US Fish and Wildlife Service. The correct
- 1:58Speaker 2: answer was Alaska, California, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington, but Colton
- 2:04Speaker 2: Finch rode in to point out that steelhead are native
- 2:07Speaker 2: to a few rivers and creeks in one other state.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Does anybody know what that other state would be?
- 2:12Speaker 4: Oregon?
- 2:13Speaker 2: Oregon was one of them, one of the five at ours, uh,
- 2:17Speaker 2: the five were Alaska, California, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. But
- 2:22Speaker 2: a listener rode in and correctly pointed out that they
- 2:25Speaker 2: are native to one other state that the US Wildlife
- 2:28Speaker 2: Service did not list, Montana, California. Not Montana, California was
- 2:32Speaker 2: one of the ones that we listed, something close to
- 2:35Speaker 2: that region. What did you say, Tresa, It is Nevada.
- 2:39Speaker 2: So Colton Finch rode into point that steelhead are also
- 2:42Speaker 2: native to a few rivers and creeks in northern Nevada.
- 2:46Speaker 2: The Nevada Department of Wildlife and US Geological Survey agree
- 2:50Speaker 2: with him, stating that steelhead once swam the Bruno and
- 2:54Speaker 2: Jarbidge rivers near the border of Oregon, Idaho, and Nevada.
- 2:58Speaker 2: The fish no longer reaches Nevada due to damn construction,
- 3:02Speaker 2: having the same fate as chinook salmon, which also used
- 3:05Speaker 2: to be found in Nevada. For that question, there would
- 3:09Speaker 2: be six correct answers, and if you said Nevada, you'd
- 3:12Speaker 2: have gotten it right. Nevada does not feel like steelhead country,
- 3:17Speaker 2: but the very northern part of the state, in fact,
- 3:20Speaker 2: is now The Shelby Index fort today is a five.
- 3:24Speaker 2: So I'm putting us on perfect score alert and with
- 3:27Speaker 2: that we're onto the game of trivia. Play the drop phill.
- 3:32Speaker 2: It's quite in here today, guys. You guys nervous Monday
- 3:36Speaker 2: morning energy man.
- 3:37Speaker 4: Guys, please don't talk to the drop now.
- 3:40Speaker 1: You just tend to win everything.
- 3:42Speaker 5: Cal's not here.
- 3:43Speaker 3: You're becoming an incredible engineer in.
- 3:48Speaker 6: Game.
- 3:48Speaker 2: On sus question one, the topic is fishing. This first
- 3:54Speaker 2: great question is via blair Foot and as always, it
- 3:57Speaker 2: will be multiple choice. Which of the these tunes was
- 4:01Speaker 2: sung by the original Big Mouth Billy Bass? Is it
- 4:05Speaker 2: don't worry be Happy, Come sail away fishing in the
- 4:09Speaker 2: dark or the River of Dreams? Which of these tunes
- 4:17Speaker 2: was sung by the original Big Mouth Billy Bass. Don't worry,
- 4:21Speaker 2: be Happy, Come sail away fishing in the dark, or
- 4:25Speaker 2: the River of Dreams?
- 4:27Speaker 4: That one that you have hanging out in front of
- 4:28Speaker 4: your office original.
- 4:32Speaker 6: Just counting stoves and.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Quiet.
- 4:43Speaker 7: Oh, this is gonna be a witch of here, sung
- 4:47Speaker 7: by the original Big Mouth.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Your four choices, don't worry, be happy, Come sail away
- 4:56Speaker 2: fishing in the dark with a River of dreams, and
- 4:59Speaker 2: my fellow office it's on the third floor at an
- 5:02Speaker 2: advantage here. That would be Randall Brody Logan Tresa, because,
- 5:06Speaker 2: as one of them pointed out, I have this hanging
- 5:09Speaker 2: outside of my office.
- 5:11Speaker 4: And everybody loves to stand around and listen to it.
- 5:13Speaker 2: I do.
- 5:15Speaker 1: I have to change the nine and bolt batteries.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Sometime when I'm out for like a week on I'm
- 5:20Speaker 2: gonna put it on the motion sensors. Phil said, every
- 5:23Speaker 2: time someone heads to the bathroom, is everybody ready, go
- 5:27Speaker 2: ahead and reveal your answers. We have Phil, or excuse me,
- 5:31Speaker 2: we have Brody and Christine and Corey and Randall and
- 5:36Speaker 2: Logan saying don't worry, be happy. Tresa says, fishing in
- 5:40Speaker 2: the dark. Nate says fishing in the dark. Max says,
- 5:45Speaker 2: don't worry, be happy. The correct answer is don't worry,
- 5:50Speaker 2: be happy. The og big Mouth Billy Bass sang two
- 5:54Speaker 2: tunes don't worry, be Happy and take me to the river.
- 5:58Speaker 2: My wife got me one for Christmas last year, and
- 6:00Speaker 2: now it hangs outside of my office as a doorbell.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Here it is making a special performance for meat Eater Trivia.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Its mouth isn't moving.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a backup singer.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Oh wow, Phil, that's freaky. I wonder how much I
- 6:30Speaker 2: paid for the rights to those songs.
- 6:32Speaker 4: I wasn't expecting it to bend so much.
- 6:35Speaker 2: It ben so much, big Mouth Billy Bass. Maybe we'll
- 6:39Speaker 2: play the second tune here a little bit later on.
- 6:43Speaker 6: So when you convert that to which one it plays.
- 6:46Speaker 2: No, it just rotates between the two. Question two, the
- 6:51Speaker 2: topic is woodstead Ship. Name three of the four states
- 6:57Speaker 2: with the lowest average annual precipitation. M name three of
- 7:05Speaker 2: the four states with the lowest average annual precipitation. Big
- 7:15Speaker 2: Mouth Billy Bass famously made an appearance on the Sopranos
- 7:20Speaker 2: Speaks to Speaks to Tony makes him feel all kinds
- 7:23Speaker 2: of guilty. And I also think it was Bill Clinton
- 7:26Speaker 2: had said it was his favorite gift ever that he received.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Went to the same place, ran.
- 7:34Speaker 2: A couple of fun facts about the big mouth Billy Bass.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Name three of the four states with the lowest average
- 7:42Speaker 2: annual precipitation. And while our players think big mouth Billy
- 7:47Speaker 2: Bass is going to do a second on core.
- 7:49Speaker 4: Porform, know is YouTube gonna allow this?
- 8:02Speaker 2: That's fine, doesn't.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Shoot.
- 8:17Speaker 2: As Randall pointed out there, YouTube doesn't like it when
- 8:20Speaker 2: we break copyright laws by playing trailers of movies or
- 8:25Speaker 2: songs or videos that we don't own but that just
- 8:28Speaker 2: means we can't monetize it. And and for the sake
- 8:30Speaker 2: of the audience, we would rather give you a good
- 8:32Speaker 2: product than monetize our YouTube videos. We're willing to uh
- 8:37Speaker 2: break those rules. Would you even be breaking your experience?
- 8:41Speaker 8: The big mouth billy like, they obviously got the rights
- 8:44Speaker 8: to those songs, so you're just doing you're just yeah.
- 8:47Speaker 2: But that's like if a movie has a rights the
- 8:50Speaker 2: rights to a Taylor Swift song, we can't then like
- 8:52Speaker 2: play that movie clip in here.
- 8:54Speaker 4: Yeah, but there's gotta be some category of IP where
- 8:57Speaker 4: it's like.
- 8:57Speaker 9: Yeah, if it's in if it's being sung by a
- 9:00Speaker 9: big feeling.
- 9:02Speaker 1: It's like a big bucket. That's just like ship.
- 9:04Speaker 3: Yeah, legislation.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Does everyone have an answer for three of the four
- 9:12Speaker 2: driest states, which is measured by the lowest average annual precipitation?
- 9:19Speaker 2: That can be rain and snow, right precipitation. That's all
- 9:24Speaker 2: forms of the question. Everything ship that falls.
- 9:27Speaker 10: Out of the that's wet, that's wet.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Maxwell trying to come up with his final state. You
- 9:40Speaker 2: Corey has now shown Randal his answer, Randall, do you
- 9:44Speaker 2: agree with Corey's three states?
- 9:47Speaker 9: Uh, he's got four and one crossed out. If I
- 9:51Speaker 9: were putting down four, I would have put those four,
- 9:53Speaker 9: but he crossed out one of the ones.
- 9:54Speaker 2: That I oh, wow, Okay, But Corey's not going to
- 9:56Speaker 2: change his answer. If other folks would like to flex
- 9:59Speaker 2: their trip your muscles, you could write a fourth state
- 10:01Speaker 2: and cross that one out as well. I don't know
- 10:03Speaker 2: that's what I was doing.
- 10:06Speaker 11: Is everybody ready, Let's go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 10:11Speaker 2: We have Brody saying Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico. Christine says Nevada, Arizona,
- 10:18Speaker 2: New Mexico. She crossed out California. Corey says Oklahoma, Nevada, Arizona,
- 10:25Speaker 2: he crossed out New Mexico. Randall says Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico,
- 10:31Speaker 2: Logan Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Tresa Arizona, Texas, Nevada, Nate,
- 10:40Speaker 2: New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Maximus, Kansas, Oklahoma, Wyoming outlier the
- 10:48Speaker 2: four states too, New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona, and Utah Utah.
- 10:57Speaker 2: I think five of our players got one right.
- 11:00Speaker 10: Yeah, Utah has so much snow and so much desert.
- 11:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 11:05Speaker 2: According Fox News, New Mexico is the driest state, averaging
- 11:10Speaker 2: just thirteen inches of precipitation annually. That's followed by Nevada
- 11:14Speaker 2: at fourteen inches, Arizona at fifteen inches, in Utah at
- 11:18Speaker 2: seventeen inches. Rounding out the top ten are Wyoming, North Dakota, Colorado, Montana,
- 11:24Speaker 2: South Dakota, and California. Question three, the topic is cooking.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Finish this quote from NPR here it is the blank
- 11:35Speaker 2: blank is to San Diego what the cheese steak is
- 11:39Speaker 2: to Philadelphia, or the lobster roll is to Maine. This
- 11:45Speaker 2: is a quote from NPR. The blank blank is to
- 11:50Speaker 2: San Diego what the cheese steak is to Philadelphia. Where
- 11:54Speaker 2: the lobster roll is to Maine. Randall only one with
- 11:58Speaker 2: an answer so far. Nate now joining him. Nate has
- 12:02Speaker 2: brought in some scones today. He said that him and
- 12:06Speaker 2: is it wife? Him and his wife were baking these
- 12:10Speaker 2: yesterday and she had him grating the cheese. Uh, it
- 12:14Speaker 2: turned out it was butter, and so Nate was grabbing
- 12:18Speaker 2: handfuls of what he thought was cheese and it turned
- 12:21Speaker 2: out to butter.
- 12:23Speaker 5: Well, I knew it was butter, but like my mind.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Oh okay, I got you.
- 12:27Speaker 5: It was really hard.
- 12:29Speaker 2: They looked delicious.
- 12:30Speaker 4: Nate looked just like some shredded mazzarella.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Yeah, we had a lot of folks volunteered to take
- 12:34Speaker 2: one to go after this episode.
- 12:36Speaker 4: I'm kind hurt now, Spencer.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Just to confirm these these five that is not indicative
- 12:43Speaker 2: of how many letters the words have. That is just
- 12:45Speaker 2: the default amount of spaces that.
- 12:48Speaker 3: For example, it could be the cranberry scone is to
- 12:50Speaker 3: San Diego.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Two words though it's two words. That's right, Okay, Max,
- 12:57Speaker 2: it's shown me. His answer finished this quote from NPR
- 13:02Speaker 2: The blank blank is to San Diego, the cheese steak
- 13:06Speaker 2: is to Philadelphia, or the lobster roll is to me? Randall,
- 13:14Speaker 2: how confident are you?
- 13:15Speaker 1: I feel pretty good?
- 13:16Speaker 2: Okay, anybody else confident?
- 13:18Speaker 1: I've not encountered this quote before.
- 13:20Speaker 2: But Nate, how do you feel about your answer?
- 13:23Speaker 5: I just changed it?
- 13:24Speaker 1: Not good?
- 13:24Speaker 2: Oh okay, I'm just going with.
- 13:27Speaker 4: My understanding of San Diego.
- 13:30Speaker 2: Okay, have you been to San Diego.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Many many times?
- 13:34Speaker 2: Spencer, Actually you're an advantage.
- 13:36Speaker 6: I wonder if he's had one of these before.
- 13:40Speaker 4: Yes, great zoo in San Diego.
- 13:43Speaker 2: They do have a great zoo.
- 13:44Speaker 9: The Padres been to a Padres game. A lot of
- 13:50Speaker 9: things you can tour that are related to the military,
- 13:52Speaker 9: all sorts of ships.
- 13:53Speaker 2: We had a live tour there and we do a
- 13:56Speaker 2: meet and greet with some folks, and it felt as
- 13:59Speaker 2: though like eighty percent of the people we talked to
- 14:01Speaker 2: were their hulitary purposes. I had no idea the city
- 14:04Speaker 2: that was so heavily influenced by that is. Everybody ready,
- 14:10Speaker 2: go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Brody saying
- 14:13Speaker 2: fish taco. Christine crossed out fish taco and wrote California.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Cory says hot dog, Randall says fish taco, Logan says
- 14:24Speaker 2: California roll. Tresa says, what's that say, Tresa, I don't
- 14:28Speaker 2: know my machilatte. Nate says California Burrito. Max says California. Role.
- 14:38Speaker 2: We have a correct answer in the room. It's fish taco.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Brody and Randall got that one right. Christine had it
- 14:48Speaker 2: right but crossed it out.
- 14:50Speaker 1: It's cra crappy feeling.
- 14:53Speaker 2: The San Diego Union Tribune declared fish Taco's the signature
- 14:57Speaker 2: dish of San Diego. They were the first American city
- 15:01Speaker 2: to serve fish tacos. Which were invented just across the
- 15:04Speaker 2: border in Baja California. To see how Kimmy Werner makes hers,
- 15:08Speaker 2: head over to the Meat Eater dot com and watch
- 15:09Speaker 2: her video called how to make Fish Tacos. Question for
- 15:14Speaker 2: the topic is public lands. The National Park Service banned
- 15:17Speaker 2: these in June of twenty fourteen, saying they have quote
- 15:22Speaker 2: unacceptable impacts on scenic values, natural soundscapes, and wildlife. The
- 15:30Speaker 2: National Park Service banned these in June of twenty fourteen,
- 15:34Speaker 2: saying they have unacceptable impacts on scenic values, natural soundscapes,
- 15:40Speaker 2: and wildlife. This is question four. The room quick to
- 15:49Speaker 2: answer this one, waiting on sticking with my gut, Christine
- 15:53Speaker 2: and Brody to come up with their answers, going on, ye, hey,
- 16:00Speaker 2: don't be well Nate, Nate and Max have shown each
- 16:03Speaker 2: other and do you boys?
- 16:05Speaker 1: I'm not sure. A.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Did you ever.
- 16:09Speaker 6: Compliment that lady for uh telling me.
- 16:13Speaker 1: How I did cheat? Oh?
- 16:15Speaker 2: Yeah, we we had We had some We have not
- 16:18Speaker 2: covered that. We had some cheating accusations. Uh lobbied at
- 16:21Speaker 2: Max in a previous episode. But we had one listener
- 16:24Speaker 2: right in saying she watched all the footage. She played
- 16:27Speaker 2: it a few times and she determined. She determined that
- 16:31Speaker 2: Max did not cheat. So I think that was the
- 16:35Speaker 2: last time I was done and we got to drop
- 16:36Speaker 2: the cheating label from Max. Oh did Corny get you
- 16:44Speaker 2: to change your last answer to Christine?
- 16:47Speaker 5: Okay, this should be illegal in the entire world.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Oh wow, I coaxed? Is everybody ready? Go ahead and
- 16:59Speaker 2: reveal your answers. We have Brody saying drones, Christine says
- 17:04Speaker 2: rock towers, Corey and Randall and Logan say drones. Tressa
- 17:10Speaker 2: says skyscrapers. Nate and Max say drones. The correct answer
- 17:16Speaker 2: is drones. Boom pretty well. The twenty fourteen band created
- 17:22Speaker 2: no drone zones over eighty four million acres of land
- 17:25Speaker 2: that includes National parks, monuments, battlefields, seashores, and trails. Despite
- 17:30Speaker 2: the law, parkgoers and Yellowstone Death Valley and Bryce Canyon
- 17:34Speaker 2: have been busted for flying drones just within the last
- 17:37Speaker 2: nine months. The violation carries a maximum of six months
- 17:41Speaker 2: in jail in a five thousand dollars fine question.
- 17:45Speaker 6: I want to mess with the FAA.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Or the National Park Service. It's two federal agencies. You
- 17:51Speaker 2: don't want to go up against Two's question five. The
- 17:53Speaker 2: topic is conservation. And this is our listener question of
- 17:56Speaker 2: the week, which was won by Sam Taylor for sending
- 17:59Speaker 2: this great question is going to get a board game
- 18:01Speaker 2: signed by the crew. If you want a chance to
- 18:03Speaker 2: win the listener Question of the Week, then send your
- 18:05Speaker 2: question to Trivia at the meat eater dot com. What's
- 18:09Speaker 2: the name for the hybrid created by domestic cattle and bison?
- 18:17Speaker 2: What's the name for the hybrid created by domestic cattle
- 18:20Speaker 2: and bison? You can get a scoreboard update from Fill
- 18:23Speaker 2: the engineer after this. Brody, Corey, Randall, Nate all confident
- 18:29Speaker 2: in their answers. Cory says, maybe.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Oh, come on, you know this.
- 18:37Speaker 5: I'm more thrown off by my spelling.
- 18:39Speaker 2: M don't talk to doesn't matter unless it's Randall.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Yeh. The YouTube comments are on my side, Spencer. I
- 18:47Speaker 1: don't know if.
- 18:47Speaker 2: You and and looking back on it, maybe maybe give
- 18:54Speaker 2: you some point you want. You won the game anyway, I.
- 18:56Speaker 4: Know as one as one comment or pointed out bad bal.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Don't what's the name for the hybrid created by domestic
- 19:07Speaker 2: cattle and bison?
- 19:08Speaker 4: No one has ever said ball don't lie about my game.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Before Maxwell with an empty board.
- 19:20Speaker 6: Yeah it's not coming to me second cup of coffee.
- 19:26Speaker 2: What's the name for the hybrid created by domestic cattle
- 19:29Speaker 2: and bison. Today's episode was originally going to be a
- 19:34Speaker 2: Jabbroni episode, but then I had too many Jibbroni's declined
- 19:38Speaker 2: to do that, so then I had pivoted about a
- 19:41Speaker 2: half hour before the show to doing a four on
- 19:44Speaker 2: one against Randall. We were gonna have four Jabbroni's versus Randall,
- 19:49Speaker 2: but then it turned out Brody was here, so we
- 19:52Speaker 2: threw Brody in, found a few more people, and just
- 19:54Speaker 2: created a regular episode of trivia. But sometime in the future, Randall,
- 19:57Speaker 2: we are going to really hand DeCamp you by doing
- 20:01Speaker 2: a four on one in med Eater Trivia.
- 20:02Speaker 9: I'd like that to take place after Nate has won
- 20:06Speaker 9: his first game. Kay, I feel like his Gibbroni card
- 20:09Speaker 9: is a little suspect suspect modulent.
- 20:12Speaker 5: I wasn't going to bring this up. I'm not sure
- 20:14Speaker 5: I belong in the Broni category.
- 20:16Speaker 2: I just define.
- 20:19Speaker 5: Has one age adjusted. I would argue that I'm the
- 20:23Speaker 5: best of trivia.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Oh wow, argument from Nate. How old are you?
- 20:28Speaker 5: Names now granted twenty seven. Nobody likes qualifying he's got me.
- 20:32Speaker 5: But there's a fact that that you can just only absorb.
- 20:35Speaker 2: So many facts. Before you walked into the studio one
- 20:39Speaker 2: minute late, everyone was heavily complimenting your game of trivia.
- 20:43Speaker 5: I appreciate that game, recognized game.
- 20:45Speaker 9: And then we were going to call you out for
- 20:46Speaker 9: being late, but then you brought stones. So it's just
- 20:51Speaker 9: kind of a toss up, and I didn't really know
- 20:52Speaker 9: how to react.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Does everyone have an answer for the name of the
- 20:56Speaker 2: hybrid created by domestic cattle and bison. Go ahead and
- 21:01Speaker 2: reveal your answers. We have Brody saying beefalo, Christine without
- 21:06Speaker 2: an answer, Corey says bouffalo, came up, Randall says beefalo,
- 21:12Speaker 2: Logan says buff cow, Tresa says Beefson says bfalo. Max
- 21:21Speaker 2: without an answer.
- 21:22Speaker 10: I was gonna write that same thing down and I
- 21:24Speaker 10: was like, wait, that's just buffalo. It's just how you
- 21:26Speaker 10: announced it.
- 21:29Speaker 2: The correct answer is bflow or cattalo. According to the
- 21:39Speaker 2: American Beefalo Foundation, a full blood beefalo is five eighths
- 21:44Speaker 2: domestic cattle and three eighths bison. Full blood. Yeah, it's
- 21:50Speaker 2: a funny definition, but they have a definition for a
- 21:53Speaker 2: full blood beefalo, but the definition is more loosely used
- 21:57Speaker 2: to describe bison that barely have any cattle, like those
- 22:00Speaker 2: found in the Grand Canyon. The National Park Service does
- 22:04Speaker 2: not consider those controversial herds b Falow, citing that bison
- 22:08Speaker 2: there only have two percent cattle DNA, which doesn't impact
- 22:12Speaker 2: their physical features or wild behaviors. Bill were halfway through
- 22:16Speaker 2: the game of trivia a SIS scoreboard update.
- 22:20Speaker 3: Yeah, Tresa has zero points, Christine, Max, and Corey all
- 22:24Speaker 3: have two points apiece, Nate and Logan have three and hey,
- 22:28Speaker 3: would you guess that the two games in the courtesy
- 22:31Speaker 3: of Birdie Henderson and Randall Williams.
- 22:33Speaker 2: I would guess that. Oh, how exciting question.
- 22:39Speaker 6: Whatever.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Question six, the topic is natural history. This next great
- 22:46Speaker 2: question is via Nathan Bachelor. Jason Statham and Rain Wilson
- 22:52Speaker 2: starred in a twenty eighteen sci fi movie about this
- 22:56Speaker 2: extinct animal. Jason Statham and Rain Wilson starred in a
- 23:02Speaker 2: twenty eighteen sci fi movie about this extinct animal. Brody
- 23:08Speaker 2: the first one to answer, and I am surprised by that. Brody,
- 23:12Speaker 2: you know this one?
- 23:13Speaker 5: I do?
- 23:14Speaker 2: Okay?
- 23:14Speaker 1: I was writing down the animal and the movie.
- 23:17Speaker 2: We're just looking for the animal. Don't have to tell us.
- 23:20Speaker 6: The movie is the answer.
- 23:23Speaker 2: People. You can try that, Max and see how it goes.
- 23:29Speaker 8: As a Jason Satham fan back in the Guy Richie days,
- 23:33Speaker 8: he was like, you're not actor and not you know,
- 23:35Speaker 8: like Joe the action star.
- 23:39Speaker 2: So now you're you're less of a fan.
- 23:41Speaker 8: Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels fantastic movie.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Okay, it's try like way before. You've never heard of
- 23:48Speaker 2: him film.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Isn't that the one where he has to keep his
- 23:53Speaker 1: heart rate about? That's great?
- 23:58Speaker 2: Jason Statham and Rain Wilson started in a twenty eighteen
- 24:02Speaker 2: sci fi movie about this extinct animal.
- 24:07Speaker 6: I think that's endangered.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Mmmm, we're looking for an extinct animal? Randall and bro
- 24:12Speaker 2: to you're confidence? Does anyone else feel good about their answer?
- 24:15Speaker 1: No?
- 24:16Speaker 8: You need to go watch Lockstock and Two Smoking Barrels.
- 24:18Speaker 2: Okay, do you want.
- 24:20Speaker 4: You do you want the full name of this animal?
- 24:23Speaker 2: Yes? Yeah, like the full name of this animal would
- 24:30Speaker 2: be handing out a little hint there from Randall no
- 24:33Speaker 2: other players. No, he says it's not a hint. Forget
- 24:37Speaker 2: what he said. Max, How do you feel about your answer?
- 24:41Speaker 2: Do you think that animal is extinct or endangered that
- 24:44Speaker 2: you wrote down.
- 24:45Speaker 6: It's well I changed it, so yeah, it's extinct now.
- 24:47Speaker 6: But okay, I wasn't gonna have something else that was like, yeah.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Whatever, twenty eighteen sci fi movie about this extinct animal.
- 24:55Speaker 4: But yeah, neither.
- 24:56Speaker 6: Yeah, I still don't feel confident.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Okay, does everybody ready go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 25:04Speaker 2: We have Rody saying megalodis, Christine says Megaladon. I was
- 25:09Speaker 2: gonna put Corey says wooly mammoth. Randal says megalodon. And
- 25:15Speaker 2: the movie is the meg Logan says Liger. Tresa says dinosaur.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Nate Megalodon, Mex wooly mammoth. The correct answer is Megalodon. Rody, Christine, Randal,
- 25:32Speaker 2: and Nate get that one right. Megalodon the largest shark
- 25:37Speaker 2: to ever live, when extinct about three point six million
- 25:40Speaker 2: years ago. Scientists believe they vanished due to changing ocean
- 25:43Speaker 2: temperatures and from getting out competed for food by great
- 25:47Speaker 2: white sharks and killer whales. According to Rotten Tomatoes, the
- 25:50Speaker 2: Meg got a forty seven percent critics score, and the
- 25:54Speaker 2: Meg two got a twenty seven percent critics score. I
- 25:57Speaker 2: don't remember Ron Wilson bean in that excuse. I feel
- 26:00Speaker 2: like that's the only thing he's known for outside of
- 26:03Speaker 2: the office.
- 26:05Speaker 5: Sahara.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Question shoots a guy with the player gun. Question seven.
- 26:12Speaker 2: The topic is fishing. Bass Master defines this alliterative term
- 26:19Speaker 2: as quote when someone brings their preferred species of fish
- 26:24Speaker 2: from one lake to another. Bass Master defines this alliterative
- 26:31Speaker 2: term as when someone brings their preferred species of fish
- 26:35Speaker 2: from one lake to another.
- 26:38Speaker 8: Well, you gotta know what a literate is, what it is,
- 26:41Speaker 8: and then you'll get an answer.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Brody does not want to help out the room and
- 26:46Speaker 2: tell them what alliterative.
- 26:47Speaker 3: You learn that in like eighth grade dogar.
- 26:53Speaker 2: That'd be a good a good word to know for
- 26:56Speaker 2: our Tribua players, because I use that as a hint.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Sometimes this is question seven.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Like a.
- 27:08Speaker 2: No more chat. Our front runners are confident in their answer.
- 27:14Speaker 2: Bass Master defines this alliterative term as quote when someone
- 27:19Speaker 2: brings their preferred species of fish from one lake to another.
- 27:24Speaker 5: You ever heard the riddle of the green glass door?
- 27:28Speaker 2: Oh? Neither have I. You might have to enlighten after
- 27:36Speaker 2: this question.
- 27:38Speaker 4: I was just looking up the cast of Sahara.
- 27:41Speaker 5: What's that Nick Rude, the Matthew Matthew McConaughey, William H.
- 27:48Speaker 1: Macy.
- 27:49Speaker 5: Oh is he the old guy? So good?
- 27:54Speaker 1: Good movie?
- 27:55Speaker 2: Is everybody ready? Graxwell, I can't think. Are you eating
- 28:01Speaker 2: a scone?
- 28:03Speaker 1: You're having a rough day?
- 28:04Speaker 2: Man, You for the bait? I know, how's the scone?
- 28:08Speaker 1: Give us?
- 28:08Speaker 2: You were coming on strong for a while and now
- 28:10Speaker 2: I feel like you peak.
- 28:14Speaker 1: That's my typical day.
- 28:15Speaker 2: Tell us about the scone though, Max, it's really good,
- 28:18Speaker 2: really good. Okay, answer, that's right.
- 28:21Speaker 9: They just came in here and tried to pump eight
- 28:23Speaker 9: hundred calories, and everybody right before we begin a game
- 28:26Speaker 9: of trivia.
- 28:30Speaker 2: Everybody ready, Christine.
- 28:33Speaker 11: I'll just okay, it's right, though, go ahead and reveal
- 28:38Speaker 11: your answers.
- 28:39Speaker 2: We have Brodie saying bucket biology. Christine says stocker s s.
- 28:46Speaker 2: Cory says bucket biology. Randall bucket biology, Logan bucket biology,
- 28:51Speaker 2: Tresa Sally Sea shore bucket biology. I had transplant, Max
- 28:57Speaker 2: Smiths says transplant. The correct answer is bucket biology. The
- 29:03Speaker 2: room did pretty well. Bucket biologists are citizens who introduce
- 29:08Speaker 2: fish into a different body of water. Anglers who do
- 29:11Speaker 2: this often have good intentions, but it's a practice with
- 29:14Speaker 2: serious conservation issues. Has haphazard fish introductions can spread disease,
- 29:19Speaker 2: upset the food chain, and change water quality. Question eight,
- 29:23Speaker 2: the topic is cooking. This next great question is via
- 29:26Speaker 2: Jennifer Shyric. A Montana sushi restaurant killed two customers in
- 29:32Speaker 2: twenty twenty three after serving this raw mushroom in a
- 29:36Speaker 2: special role.
- 29:38Speaker 3: I put down the.
- 29:39Speaker 2: Restaurant be a very specific question for all of our
- 29:45Speaker 2: listeners who aren't in Montana. I don't know. I feel
- 29:49Speaker 2: like that hit a little national government for sure, but
- 29:53Speaker 2: the name of the restaurant. A Montana sushi restaurant killed
- 29:58Speaker 2: two customers in twenty twowenty three after serving this raw
- 30:02Speaker 2: mushroom in a special role. A room had a huge
- 30:07Speaker 2: what's the restaurant?
- 30:08Speaker 1: You got to do it? That's not part of the answer.
- 30:10Speaker 2: And Max said he was writing down the restaurant, and
- 30:13Speaker 2: I said that would be a little too specific for
- 30:16Speaker 2: the rest of our one we have everybody, but Nate
- 30:23Speaker 2: is being confident in their answer.
- 30:25Speaker 5: I just moved here.
- 30:26Speaker 1: He did ye did you live here?
- 30:28Speaker 2: In twenty twenty three, and Christine has declared him aja broke.
- 30:38Speaker 2: Think about it, think about it as.
- 30:41Speaker 1: He best clue think about it.
- 30:46Speaker 2: As he choose on the chocolate chips going right in
- 30:49Speaker 2: his face. A Montanas sushi restaurant killed two customers in
- 30:56Speaker 2: twenty twenty three after serving this raw mushroom on a
- 31:00Speaker 2: special roll. It's everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 31:10Speaker 2: We have Brody, Christine, Corey, Randall, Logan, Tresa saying morell,
- 31:17Speaker 2: Nate says death, cap Max says Morell. They got it.
- 31:21Speaker 2: The correct answer is a Morel mushroom. Fifty one customers
- 31:26Speaker 2: got sick after eating the raw Morel mushrooms from Dave
- 31:30Speaker 2: Sushi in April of twenty twenty three. The morals were
- 31:33Speaker 2: grown in China and distributed by a California dealer. The
- 31:37Speaker 2: FDA traced the mushrooms to six other restaurants, and none
- 31:40Speaker 2: of them had customer complaints associate associated with eating Morel's.
- 31:44Speaker 2: Investigators were unable to determine what characteristic of the Morels
- 31:48Speaker 2: caused the illness, saying it could have been how they
- 31:51Speaker 2: were stored, prepared, or both. Despite serving the fatal sushi rle,
- 31:56Speaker 2: Dave's still open today. Phil have two questions left a
- 32:02Speaker 2: scoreboard update.
- 32:03Speaker 3: Tresa, Max, Christine well, just everybody except Brody and Randall.
- 32:09Speaker 1: You're out, see you pack it up.
- 32:11Speaker 3: But I'm I'm rooting for a perfect game tiebreaker because
- 32:13Speaker 3: Brody and Randall still have a perfect game of eight points.
- 32:16Speaker 2: We have never had that that would be interesting shaping up.
- 32:20Speaker 4: It still count as a perfect game if you lose
- 32:22Speaker 4: the tiebreaker.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Mmm, sure, yeah, we give you a perfect game. Question nine.
- 32:26Speaker 2: The topic is hunting. This five letter word is defined
- 32:31Speaker 2: as quote a small group of females that a male
- 32:34Speaker 2: pronghorn defends. This five letter word is defined as a
- 32:42Speaker 2: small group of females that a male pronghorn defends. Looks
- 32:47Speaker 2: like this will keep the perfect game going through? Question
- 32:49Speaker 2: nine for Randall and Brody, Hm, Tresa confident, Nate confident, Okay,
- 32:57Speaker 2: Trista not confident? Max? How about you?
- 33:00Speaker 5: No, I got five blank spaces.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Logan, you got this one right.
- 33:03Speaker 10: Potentially, I don't know. I thought of what a cluster
- 33:06Speaker 10: of females could be called.
- 33:11Speaker 2: Logan's killed about everything in Montana this year. Have you
- 33:14Speaker 2: killed an analope yet? I did?
- 33:15Speaker 10: Yeah, man, and actually also shot so I had a
- 33:20Speaker 10: mule deer b tag huh and I got my second
- 33:22Speaker 10: second bocus. This weekend.
- 33:25Speaker 5: Wait, so you got an elp, a bear, an antelope.
- 33:30Speaker 2: Wow, and it's not even white tail, not a white tail.
- 33:34Speaker 2: There's got to be some left over white tail tags.
- 33:37Speaker 2: You could do it, Logan.
- 33:38Speaker 3: I've got white tail bags living across the.
- 33:41Speaker 5: Road that little farm every day.
- 33:47Speaker 2: Logan, this, this would be a kind of slam that
- 33:49Speaker 2: I think few Montana hunters have done in a seasons.
- 33:53Speaker 1: Yeah, oh, I.
- 33:53Speaker 4: Bet, I bet there's all kinds of crusty folks out there.
- 33:57Speaker 2: But of like all the general tag holders, the bears
- 34:01Speaker 2: bears a tough one though, But he did it already.
- 34:04Speaker 1: I know.
- 34:04Speaker 2: As far as like hitting for the cycle, you've you've
- 34:06Speaker 2: done everything except the single so far. So you've got
- 34:10Speaker 2: in baseball, if you hit for a cycle, you go single, double, triple,
- 34:13Speaker 2: and a home run. What's the home run? Elk, the
- 34:15Speaker 2: bear is Brody just pointed out, that would be a
- 34:18Speaker 2: tough one, I think for for most folks. Actually, the
- 34:21Speaker 2: triple is harder than a home run, so the triple
- 34:24Speaker 2: would be a black Bear home run. Elk, the double
- 34:27Speaker 2: is the the muley.
- 34:29Speaker 5: But you're saying the white tail is a single.
- 34:31Speaker 2: I think that's white tail is like a foul ball mane.
- 34:36Speaker 5: I'm so tired of that.
- 34:39Speaker 6: Here.
- 34:40Speaker 2: Well, we're saying in Montana as far as like, its
- 34:42Speaker 2: easiest tag to get, you know, the eastern half of
- 34:45Speaker 2: the state. They're like count and tail rabbits out there.
- 34:48Speaker 10: Much much spookier wind bow hunting. Now that's right there.
- 34:51Speaker 2: Does everyone have an answer for question nine about a
- 34:54Speaker 2: small group of females?
- 34:58Speaker 1: Clearly I don't know.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Brodie and
- 35:04Speaker 2: Christine and Corey and Randall and Logan saying harm Tressa
- 35:10Speaker 2: says class nate, harem max flock the correct what is harem?
- 35:18Speaker 1: I felt so much better when that's like, I.
- 35:25Speaker 5: Don't even know how.
- 35:28Speaker 2: Christine gave us multiple spellings. Neither one was right, but
- 35:32Speaker 2: she got it right, said, spelling doesn't matter. It doesn't matter,
- 35:36Speaker 2: and that's why she got the point.
- 35:37Speaker 6: As long as you can sound it out.
- 35:39Speaker 2: A female antelope will typically visit several harem holding males
- 35:43Speaker 2: in the month leading up to breeding. The female will
- 35:46Speaker 2: stay for a few days before moving to a different harem,
- 35:49Speaker 2: a process called sampling. Then, a week before entering estrius,
- 35:53Speaker 2: the female will pick a male that it likes and
- 35:56Speaker 2: join its harem of does Phil we have one question
- 36:00Speaker 2: that means the perfect game is still going between Randall
- 36:04Speaker 2: and Brody into question ten. Here's question ten. The topic
- 36:08Speaker 2: is conservation. What federal agency employs the most smoke jumpers?
- 36:16Speaker 2: What federal agency employs the most smoke jumpers? Randall very confident,
- 36:22Speaker 2: Brody joining him with an answer. Now we could have,
- 36:26Speaker 2: for the first time in meat Eater trivia history, a
- 36:29Speaker 2: tie breaker with two players that have a perfect game.
- 36:35Speaker 2: What federal agency employs the most smoke jumpers? Brody, do
- 36:42Speaker 2: you have this one right? I hope so, Randall, I.
- 36:47Speaker 4: Mean I have a similar attitude.
- 36:50Speaker 1: That's Brody at the moment.
- 36:51Speaker 2: You're confident, but you're not certain.
- 36:53Speaker 4: Well, I.
- 36:55Speaker 1: I've never counted.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Everybody. Ready, go ahead and reveal your answers. We have
- 37:05Speaker 2: Brody saying National Forest Service, Christine national Forest Service, Corey
- 37:10Speaker 2: and Randall and Logan saying National Forest Service. Tresa says FFA,
- 37:17Speaker 2: Nate says Forest Service. He crossed out BLM Max says
- 37:21Speaker 2: Forest Service. The correct answer is the US Forest Service,
- 37:27Speaker 2: meaning we have a tie breaker between Randall and Brody.
- 37:32Speaker 2: Ten correct, and.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Here we go.
- 37:36Speaker 2: Smoke Jumpers are wildland firefighters who parachute into remote fires.
- 37:41Speaker 2: The Bureau of Land Management employs one hundred and fifty
- 37:44Speaker 2: smoke jumpers, while the US Forest Service employs three hundred
- 37:47Speaker 2: and twenty smoke jumpers. The National Park Service, US Fish
- 37:51Speaker 2: and Wildlife Service, and Bureau of Indian Affairs don't employ
- 37:54Speaker 2: smoke jumpers. They rely on BLM and the US Forest
- 37:57Speaker 2: Service smoke jumpers when a fire requires them.
- 38:00Speaker 1: That's the question.
- 38:01Speaker 2: It's not that many. That's why they're going everywhere helping
- 38:04Speaker 2: out all the states they need them.
- 38:06Speaker 4: If you ever have some free time in Missoula, Montana,
- 38:08Speaker 4: go to the smoke Jumper Museum.
- 38:10Speaker 1: Yeah, well worth it.
- 38:11Speaker 2: In the BLM, they only have two smoke jumper bases,
- 38:14Speaker 2: I think, one in Alaska and one in Boise. So
- 38:16Speaker 2: they got their eighty excuse me, their one fifty spread
- 38:19Speaker 2: between those two places. We're going to overtime play the
- 38:22Speaker 2: drop Phil, how they.
- 38:29Speaker 5: Just cut it at if you ain't first your last
- 38:31Speaker 5: and then like going to other stuff. That's funny to me.
- 38:33Speaker 2: And I would have seven points a Phil goff Man
- 38:37Speaker 2: sh for overtime. We have a numerical question. Whoever is
- 38:42Speaker 2: closest between Randall and Brody will be declared the winner.
- 38:46Speaker 2: But the rest of the room is going to play
- 38:47Speaker 2: along because if one of them gets it right, we'll
- 38:50Speaker 2: add an extra one hundred dollars donation. At the end
- 38:52Speaker 2: of the show meeting, we have a chance for an
- 38:54Speaker 2: eleven hundred dollars donation, which has never happened before.
- 38:57Speaker 1: My goodness.
- 38:58Speaker 2: The tie breaking top is fishing. What did the world
- 39:03Speaker 2: record channel catfish way? We'll go to a decimal place
- 39:08Speaker 2: on this one decimal place for me. What did the
- 39:12Speaker 2: world record channel catfish? Way? Brod channel? Answer? Of course,
- 39:23Speaker 2: thank you, Max? What was your world record channel catfish? Way? Brodie?
- 39:34Speaker 2: Are you going to change your answer?
- 39:35Speaker 6: All?
- 39:35Speaker 2: You're just gonna stick with what came to mind right away? Okay?
- 39:39Speaker 2: He very quickly, before I even repeated the question, had
- 39:43Speaker 2: an answer written down in his whiteboard, set face down.
- 39:52Speaker 2: What did the world record?
- 39:58Speaker 6: Does?
- 39:58Speaker 2: Everybody have an answer? Max has reminded you it's a
- 40:02Speaker 2: channel catfish, not a blue catfish. What other? What other
- 40:05Speaker 2: catfish is it not?
- 40:07Speaker 4: Uh?
- 40:08Speaker 6: Well, I just learned in Louisiana there was a hard
- 40:12Speaker 6: head hard headed catfish.
- 40:14Speaker 8: Yeah, they're trash fish.
- 40:15Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 40:17Speaker 2: The world record one of those is like four and
- 40:19Speaker 2: a half pounds or something, because I didn't know much
- 40:21Speaker 2: about them either until Yannie was saying that's what he
- 40:23Speaker 2: was gonna do for one minute.
- 40:24Speaker 5: Fishing world records four and a half pounds.
- 40:26Speaker 2: For the hard headed catfish.
- 40:28Speaker 1: If everybody has no bearing on this, after.
- 40:35Speaker 2: Christine, are you ready to one decimal place, go ahead
- 40:39Speaker 2: and reveal your answers. We have Christine saying fifty five
- 40:44Speaker 2: point seven. Logan sang one oh nine. Excuse me, Cordy
- 40:50Speaker 2: saying one o nine, Logan sang one oh three point five.
- 40:54Speaker 2: Sounds like a radio station. Tresa says twenty seven point three.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Name says three hundred and sixty seven point two, Max
- 41:05Speaker 2: forty six point three, and our two players left. We
- 41:09Speaker 2: have Randall saying one hundred and twelve point eight and
- 41:13Speaker 2: Brody saying thirty five point six. Now someone in the
- 41:19Speaker 2: room is within three pounds of the correct answer. The
- 41:24Speaker 2: correct answer is fifty eight pounds, making Brody our winner
- 41:30Speaker 2: twenty three pounds off, and Christine is just three pounds
- 41:35Speaker 2: off with her answer, two point pounds off with her
- 41:38Speaker 2: answer fifty five point seven, And that entire tiebreaker, she
- 41:43Speaker 2: was snickering about how silly her answer must have felt.
- 41:46Speaker 2: And then she was the closest one in the room.
- 41:48Speaker 2: Well done, Christine Brody, you are the winner of the
- 41:52Speaker 2: Perfect Game overtime round. Where is the one thousand dollars
- 41:56Speaker 2: donation from one thousand bucks? Because we had a perfect game,
- 42:03Speaker 2: two perfect games, it's already forgotten, I guess, and I
- 42:10Speaker 2: got an A plus. History will never remember the imperfect game.
- 42:16Speaker 2: When going to air, this is going to air next week,
- 42:20Speaker 2: so we're ten days. That's coming down to crunch time
- 42:23Speaker 2: in Colorado. So we'll do uh Colorado U?
- 42:27Speaker 5: What is it?
