- 0:45Speaker 1: most of you don't know who I'm talking about, But
- 0:48Speaker 1: welcome in. Glad to have you with us on a Tuesday.
- 0:52Speaker 1: This portion of the program brought to you by Central
- 0:54Speaker 1: Texas Sports Medicine. Coming up, postgame react from last night's
- 0:59Speaker 1: champion Ship game. It wasn't pretty. It was a rock fight.
- 1:02Speaker 1: I've got my opinions as to why, and they don't
- 1:05Speaker 1: have to do a defense. Well, we'll talk about that.
- 1:08Speaker 1: We've got a high school report today. You know, we
- 1:11Speaker 1: have spring football today. We are all over that for you.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Mallory will be here with a new entertainment update for us,
- 1:23Speaker 1: and we've got Aggie Baseball coming your way five forty five.
- 1:27Speaker 1: This is actually my last show of the week. I'd
- 1:31Speaker 1: like to tell you I'm going to some exotic beach somewhere.
- 1:36Speaker 1: It's just the schedule. Tomorrow, We've got Astro's Baseball Thursday,
- 1:44Speaker 1: Jared and Jason are in Friday, Ryan is in with
- 1:49Speaker 1: Kirk Bowls and I think Dusty will be with Kirk
- 1:53Speaker 1: on Friday. Next Monday, more Astros Baseball. I'll be back
- 2:00Speaker 1: next Tuesday, but normally I will be working for you
- 2:06Speaker 1: the listener parts of that those days when I'm not here.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Just keep that in mind. And today we're going to
- 2:14Speaker 1: give away a prize package to our Sports Talk Madness
- 2:19Speaker 1: contest winner. Since the season is over. As I mentioned,
- 2:24Speaker 1: Aggie Baseball tonight against Texas State from San Marcus five
- 2:31Speaker 1: point forty five start the sixty sixth time these programs
- 2:37Speaker 1: have met. A and M has won fifty of the
- 2:41Speaker 1: previous sixty five an m won last year. Aggie's are
- 2:48Speaker 1: seven to zero on Tuesday Night so far this year.
- 2:50Speaker 1: That is a big, big deal, big big, big big deal.
- 2:56Speaker 1: They're three to twenty two. Batting average is fifteenth best
- 2:59Speaker 1: in the country, in the top five, and on base percentage,
- 3:04Speaker 1: slugging percentage, home runs, run scored, and walks. In other words,
- 3:09Speaker 1: they're pounding the Polota Cole Hubert. I think we'll get
- 3:14Speaker 1: the start tonight for the Aggies, Rangers, Mariners. The Rangers
- 3:20Speaker 1: still can't score runs, but they made two runs stand
- 3:24Speaker 1: up last night. They beat Seattle two to one. That
- 3:31Speaker 1: doesn't happen very often. If they can win one of
- 3:36Speaker 1: these next two games, it will be the first time
- 3:40Speaker 1: they have beaten Seattle in a series in three years.
- 3:45Speaker 1: I wish I was kidding, I'm not.
- 3:51Speaker 3: So.
- 3:51Speaker 1: The Rangers are sitting at five and five, half game
- 3:56Speaker 1: behind the Astros at six. They're playing the Rockies, which
- 4:04Speaker 1: you know. And let's see Mike Burrows set to start
- 4:13Speaker 1: his third game of this season tonight. Oh in the
- 4:18Speaker 1: Rangers game. Native Baldy's getting the start. We're going to
- 4:20Speaker 1: watch him closely. He has not been good in his
- 4:23Speaker 1: first two outings. He may have been the best pitcher
- 4:26Speaker 1: in the American League all season long last year, but
- 4:30Speaker 1: he hasn't been good so far. National Championship Game last night,
- 4:34Speaker 1: sixty nine sixty three, the Wolverines of Michigan knocked off
- 4:38Speaker 1: the fighting Danny Hurleys in a rock fight of a game.
- 4:47Speaker 1: I don't have the halftime stats, and I'm meant to
- 4:50Speaker 1: do that to make a point. We're going to talk
- 4:52Speaker 1: about that here in just a little bit. Uh Luke.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Evangelists of Texacts is reporting Ruben Domingus is in entering
- 5:00Speaker 1: the transfer portal and Josh Holloway has already entered the
- 5:05Speaker 1: transfer portal. The transfer portal is open as of today,
- 5:11Speaker 1: so there will be lots of players coming and going.
- 5:18Speaker 1: We'll see what happens. A and M has spots to fill,
- 5:26Speaker 1: so we'll see I think eight spots maybe to fill.
- 5:35Speaker 1: They're asking waivers on Zach Clements and Marcus Hill, so
- 5:41Speaker 1: don't know how all of that is going to work
- 5:44Speaker 1: its way out. We shall see. Speaking of college basketball,
- 5:51Speaker 1: we've got an early favorite next year. Duke at plus
- 5:57Speaker 1: eight hundred is the early favorite. Now John Shire has
- 6:04Speaker 1: not won a Nattie. There's been some heartbreaking losses along
- 6:09Speaker 1: the way. We'll see Michigan is second at twelve to one,
- 6:15Speaker 1: Florida is fourteen to one, and Arizona is fifteen to one.
- 6:21Speaker 1: I mean, I would bet the field right now if
- 6:25Speaker 1: I could. If I could bet the field, I would
- 6:27Speaker 1: take the field. I you know, that would be an
- 6:30Speaker 1: easy bet for me, frankly. So okay, there's that. And
- 6:40Speaker 1: here's some featured first round groupings at the Masters on Thursday.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Bryson d. Chambeau is playing with Matthew Fitzpatrick and Xanders Shoffley.
- 6:55Speaker 1: They will tee off at nine seven am, Texas time.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Rory defending the title at nine thirty one with Cam
- 7:06Speaker 1: Young and Mason Howe. At twelve oh eight John Rob,
- 7:10Speaker 1: Chris Godderip Ludwig obern Man. That's a good Perry. And
- 7:15Speaker 1: the next to last group off on Thursday at twelve
- 7:19Speaker 1: forty four two time champs Scottie Scheffler along with Gary Woodland,
- 7:25Speaker 1: former US Open champ and winner from the Houston Openness
- 7:29Speaker 1: last two weeks ago, and Robert McIntyre. So those are
- 7:34Speaker 1: just some of the features as the Master's tease off
- 7:38Speaker 1: on Thursday. I have a minute here, so I'm going
- 7:43Speaker 1: to propose this theory. The shooting was terrible all weekend
- 7:50Speaker 1: long at the Final four. We talked yesterday with the
- 7:55Speaker 1: writers about how the shooting background in these huge stadiums
- 8:01Speaker 1: is terrible and apparently Lucas Oil is one of the worst.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Why do I say that because one end of the court,
- 8:11Speaker 1: the combined teams were something like one for thirty. Okay,
- 8:17Speaker 1: Yukon was five for fifteen in the first half. Michigan
- 8:20Speaker 1: was over. They were for eleven, oh for twelve? Do
- 8:24Speaker 1: you have the halftime breakdown trade on that on three
- 8:28Speaker 1: point on three pointers, Michigan was like over in the
- 8:34Speaker 1: first half. Uh, and we'll I'll look at that. I
- 8:38Speaker 1: meant to do it before we got here. In the
- 8:41Speaker 1: second half, Connecticut hit a late three, I believe by Caravan.
- 8:49Speaker 1: I think that was the only three on that end
- 8:52Speaker 1: of the court. Okay, the entire game. I'm pretty sure
- 8:57Speaker 1: that was the only three point shot that was made
- 9:03Speaker 1: on that would be where the Connecticut bench was to
- 9:10Speaker 1: your right as you were watching the game. What was
- 9:15Speaker 1: Michigan in the first half?
- 9:17Speaker 4: Michigan was.
- 9:21Speaker 1: No from the three? Did it break up eighth for eight? What?
- 9:27Speaker 1: What was Yukon in the second half? From the three
- 9:31Speaker 1: point line four for eighteen. No, no, not for the game.
- 9:36Speaker 1: That's the second half they hit four. Okay, never mind,
- 9:41Speaker 1: So that was four for twenty six from three from
- 9:43Speaker 1: that end of the court. Okay, first half that were
- 9:47Speaker 1: five for fifteen something like that, right, Okay. I just
- 9:55Speaker 1: like the shooting was atrocious in all three games. And
- 9:58Speaker 1: these are teams that are in are buying for the now.
- 10:01Speaker 1: These are the four best teams, right, and they can't
- 10:04Speaker 1: hit threes. Why can't they hit threes? Oh well, the
- 10:07Speaker 1: defense was great, you know, there's pressure now they played
- 10:11Speaker 1: five games already, right, No, No, that's not it. The
- 10:20Speaker 1: site lines are terrible, The shooting is terrible with the background,
- 10:25Speaker 1: and that's just another you know, reason not to play
- 10:28Speaker 1: these games in these cavernous football stadiums. I mean, they're
- 10:32Speaker 1: not going to stop. You know, it's sixty thousand paying
- 10:36Speaker 1: customers versus eighteen thousand paid customers, so they're not going
- 10:39Speaker 1: to stop it. Just it just cheapens the product. Okay.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Now you're saying, hey, that'll be shooting from anywhere, Well maybe,
- 10:52Speaker 1: but they're not. They're not. Okay, And I would argue
- 10:58Speaker 1: if you could look back on some of the these
- 11:00Speaker 1: games over the years that have been played in these
- 11:02Speaker 1: stadiums three point percentages versus regular season or even in
- 11:11Speaker 1: the preliminary games, because none of them are played in
- 11:15Speaker 1: the stadium, right, They're all in basketball arenas until you
- 11:19Speaker 1: get to the final four. So if you want to
- 11:22Speaker 1: go back and do a deep dive on that, I
- 11:24Speaker 1: suggest you do that and prove me wrong. All right,
- 11:29Speaker 1: we're going to take a break. We're going to come back.
- 11:30Speaker 1: This portion of the show is brought to you by
- 11:32Speaker 1: Nco Insurance.

- 11:56Speaker 5: behind us, more resources, more solutions, Still your team. Co
- 12:00Speaker 5: Insurance a Hub International company, So you're ready for tomorrow.
- 12:04Speaker 6: DJK Dove checking in previously on The Fine Bomb Show.
- 12:08Speaker 7: J Paul is up next in Las Vegas.
- 12:10Speaker 8: Hello Paul.
- 12:11Speaker 9: The question is if you're ever going to get rid
- 12:13Speaker 9: of that rotary.
- 12:14Speaker 10: Phone on your on the screen and get a mobile phone.
- 12:17Speaker 11: That's just no no.
- 12:18Speaker 1: I think we're I think we're stuck with the rotary
- 12:20Speaker 1: phone till the end of the show's history. I think
- 12:23Speaker 1: the rotary phone very well describes a lot of the
- 12:25Speaker 1: people that call.
- 12:26Speaker 12: In the Paul Fine Bomb Show powered by Polari's Fund
- 12:30Speaker 12: Center two to four weekdays on the Zone.
- 12:49Speaker 1: You know, I was I was a little disappointed in
- 12:55Speaker 1: one shining moment last night. I mean it was okay.
- 13:00Speaker 1: I always love one shining moment. That's the way to
- 13:04Speaker 1: close things out right. And and uh, I mean I
- 13:11Speaker 1: love the crew. I love Ernie, I love Charles Barkley,
- 13:16Speaker 1: Clark Kellogg. I'm not sure how much Bruce Pearl added
- 13:20Speaker 1: to the mix. But right now we're going to go
- 13:23Speaker 1: after the Players Fund Center phone line, and we're going
- 13:28Speaker 1: to visit with the winner of the Sports Talk Madness
- 13:32Speaker 1: Contest brought to you by Chad Jones Law at Zornaman Florg.
- 13:38Speaker 1: He is Darren Wilkinson. Darren, how are you?
- 13:42Speaker 13: I'm doing well, sir, How are you so?
- 13:45Speaker 1: At what point did you know you had won this contest?
- 13:49Speaker 13: When I got a call about.
- 13:51Speaker 1: So, so you were a little surprised. Did you know
- 13:55Speaker 1: that you were among the leaders?
- 13:57Speaker 14: No?
- 13:58Speaker 1: I did not, Oh you were not you you you
- 14:00Speaker 1: just filled it out and you just let it go right.
- 14:04Speaker 13: Absolutely, I did, yes, hey, because I very rarely win anythings.
- 14:08Speaker 13: I just figured out to it to see how it goes.
- 14:11Speaker 1: So you you there were six people that were tied
- 14:16Speaker 1: for first place, Darren, But you're one hundred and forty
- 14:20Speaker 1: three points.
- 14:22Speaker 14: Uh.
- 14:23Speaker 1: You you had a total point total. Uh that was
- 14:27Speaker 1: within eleven points of the total, and that was far
- 14:31Speaker 1: and away the best. So so that's why I'm talking
- 14:37Speaker 1: to you. Okay, you're you're the wheel. When you said
- 14:41Speaker 1: you've never you hardly ever win anything, when was the
- 14:44Speaker 1: last time you won something?
- 14:47Speaker 13: Oh, my long, long time ago?
- 14:52Speaker 11: I remember?
- 14:55Speaker 1: Do you do you play every year?
- 14:58Speaker 3: Yes?
- 14:58Speaker 14: Sir?
- 14:58Speaker 1: Okay? Did I get this right? Do you teach at
- 15:03Speaker 1: blind or an administrator at Blinn?
- 15:07Speaker 13: Yes?
- 15:07Speaker 1: Okay, what do you teach?
- 15:09Speaker 13: I teach math?
- 15:10Speaker 1: Okay, so mathematically you figured out this tournament.
- 15:15Speaker 13: Absolutely. My winner didn't win, all right? So I had Arizona, Yeah,
- 15:22Speaker 13: I had Arizona going all the way, and of course
- 15:24Speaker 13: they didn't. So me too.
- 15:25Speaker 1: In my bracket. I had Arizona going all the way
- 15:28Speaker 1: as well. But the but but that didn't matter because
- 15:30Speaker 1: you had Michigan as one of your ten, you had
- 15:33Speaker 1: Arizona as one of your ten. You had Yukon as
- 15:36Speaker 1: one of your ten.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Uh.
- 15:39Speaker 1: I only got one team in my final four and
- 15:41Speaker 1: that was Arizona and that ended on Saturday. So I
- 15:45Speaker 1: have way back. Okay. So first thing I'm gonna do,
- 15:50Speaker 1: I'm going to give you some kind of collector item stuff, okay,
- 15:54Speaker 1: and you can do with them what you want. I
- 15:57Speaker 1: have a I have two things from the National Championship
- 16:02Speaker 1: football game that was played in Houston at NRG Stadium
- 16:08Speaker 1: and actually Michigan won the championship then as well.
- 16:13Speaker 15: Uh.
- 16:14Speaker 1: I have a collector's pin that is really cool. It's
- 16:17Speaker 1: got the National Championship Trophy on it. I have a
- 16:22Speaker 1: college football collector's pin. I have a pristine program from
- 16:28Speaker 1: the National Championship okay game, Okay. I have tickets to
- 16:36Speaker 1: Sherwood Forest, which is between here and Austin every year.
- 16:43Speaker 1: I have I have a family four pack to Moody
- 16:46Speaker 1: Gardens which includes the aquarium, the rainforest, the discovery all
- 16:54Speaker 1: of that. And I have a compliment Sunday brunh buffet
- 17:03Speaker 1: for two at Casa manyari On University. If you haven't been,
- 17:07Speaker 1: you're gonna really enjoy that, Okay, because you told my
- 17:13Speaker 1: producer you're an Astros fans. You're an Astro fan. You're
- 17:17Speaker 1: missing out on a couple of really cool things. But
- 17:20Speaker 1: I'm gonna give those two a Ranger fan.
- 17:24Speaker 13: That's fine.
- 17:25Speaker 1: I figured you wouldn't mind that. Darren. I appreciate you playing,
- 17:32Speaker 1: I appreciate you listening, and I'm going to put you
- 17:35Speaker 1: on hold. Jet's gonna tell you how to pick up
- 17:38Speaker 1: all these goodies. And do you play the football contest?
- 17:41Speaker 3: Darin?
- 17:43Speaker 13: Absolutely?
- 17:44Speaker 1: Okay? And and have you ever won anything? A weekly
- 17:47Speaker 1: on that?
- 17:48Speaker 13: I won one week, probably about six years ago.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Wow, okay, Hey, winning a week is good. There's nothing
- 17:56Speaker 1: wrong with that. Well, thanks, thanks for doing it, and
- 18:00Speaker 1: it's great to talk to you. If you'll stay on
- 18:02Speaker 1: the hold, we'll tell you how to pick up these prizes.
- 18:05Speaker 15: We do.
- 18:06Speaker 1: We did it, thanks Darren.
- 18:07Speaker 9: Uh.
- 18:08Speaker 1: That's Darren Wilkinson. He is the winner of Sports Talk
- 18:13Speaker 1: Madness Play Mission Impossible. Just a little bit, would you
- 18:20Speaker 1: be a be uh, just so I can say we're
- 18:25Speaker 1: not going to hear that till the end of August. Okay,
- 18:28Speaker 1: we're done, hey, from when they managed and JUNI July
- 18:31Speaker 1: four months, it'll be four and a half months before
- 18:34Speaker 1: we're playing a contest again. You guys talk amongst yourselves
- 18:38Speaker 1: until then. Okay, Uh, let's do this. We are going
- 18:42Speaker 1: to hear from the coaches from last night. First. We're
- 18:46Speaker 1: going to start with with Dan Hurley. And I will
- 18:49Speaker 1: tell you this, I can't think of another coach in
- 18:52Speaker 1: America that would have done what he done did with
- 18:55Speaker 1: his team last night, exactly how he wanted to play,
- 18:59Speaker 1: except they couldn't hit shots. Here's Dan Hurley.
- 19:03Speaker 14: Yeah, you know, uh, you know, number one, congratulations to
- 19:06Speaker 14: Michigan just uh incredibly talented, incredibly imposing team, uh physically
- 19:14Speaker 14: obviously well coached, great staff. Uh you know, just overall
- 19:18Speaker 14: just a you know, tremendous university. Uh you know, with
- 19:23Speaker 14: with with what they're able to accomplish in sports. So
- 19:26Speaker 14: uh obviously, you know, for us, it's it's it's tough.
- 19:32Speaker 16: You know.
- 19:33Speaker 14: Again, we did not come here for watches, Uh, you know,
- 19:36Speaker 14: we came here for rings, and uh, you know it's
- 19:39Speaker 14: hard to be I'm not real emotional you know, players
- 19:43Speaker 14: are crying a lot more than I am. Uh, you know,
- 19:47Speaker 14: it's hard to be upset with your team. You know,
- 19:50Speaker 14: we we lost the game because we missed you know,
- 19:53Speaker 14: we just we missed.
- 19:55Speaker 3: Uh, we didn't make enough shots.
- 19:58Speaker 14: But it's hard to be upset with your team when
- 19:59Speaker 14: it get twenty two offensive rebounds versus that team. I mean,
- 20:02Speaker 14: that's just how hard we just played to hold you know,
- 20:06Speaker 14: that that team to thirty eight percent from the field.
- 20:09Speaker 3: But obviously the.
- 20:12Speaker 14: You know, I just thought, you know, the guys picking
- 20:14Speaker 14: up two fouls in the first half. Losing those three
- 20:17Speaker 14: guys when we had thought had a great chance going
- 20:19Speaker 14: to the locker room with the lead, you know, really
- 20:22Speaker 14: put us in a bad spot. But you know, it's
- 20:27Speaker 14: you know, it's hard to be disappointed in your team
- 20:30Speaker 14: when they fight so hard.
- 20:36Speaker 17: First rough yep, Joe Rudhart re current Dan you said
- 20:40Speaker 17: you weren't emotional.
- 20:41Speaker 18: It looks like you're starting to get there.
- 20:42Speaker 19: But how do you balance the pride that you have
- 20:45Speaker 19: and and those guys in this team this year with
- 20:47Speaker 19: the sadness that comes with the end of it.
- 20:52Speaker 14: Yeah, I'm not. I mean, like I said before, it's
- 20:55Speaker 14: like it's hard to be to have a level of
- 21:04Speaker 14: disappointment where literally it's just you know, obviously it just
- 21:08Speaker 14: came down to we just we we didn't make enough
- 21:11Speaker 14: shots in the basket.
- 21:12Speaker 3: You know, like to be.
- 21:14Speaker 14: Able to you know, keep that team, you know, under
- 21:16Speaker 14: forty percent from the field, thirty eight percent. You know,
- 21:19Speaker 14: this team has destroyed everyone they faced in this tournament. Again,
- 21:24Speaker 14: your team gives you twenty two offensive reboundser that's how hard, uh,
- 21:28Speaker 14: you know how hard we played and just you know,
- 21:31Speaker 14: just what the group has been able to overcome through,
- 21:34Speaker 14: you know, just throughout the year, the growth, the way
- 21:37Speaker 14: they played in March.
- 21:38Speaker 3: I mean, you know, I like to.
- 21:42Speaker 14: Just the whole experience that this team has given, you know,
- 21:46Speaker 14: the coaches, the fan base, you know, to play to
- 21:50Speaker 14: the last, you know, to be one of the last
- 21:52Speaker 14: two teams standing. You I know a lot of people
- 21:54Speaker 14: talk about, hey, it's better off losing the first game
- 21:57Speaker 14: in the final four than losing in the championship. That
- 22:00Speaker 14: is the biggest bunch of It's the biggest bunch of
- 22:04Speaker 14: crap of all times. It's such a.
- 22:06Speaker 3: Bullsh stuff stuff it is.
- 22:11Speaker 14: I mean, it's like this is where you want it
- 22:13Speaker 14: to be. You know, listen, it hasn't set in yet.
- 22:15Speaker 14: You know, on the flight tomorrow. It'll set in on
- 22:17Speaker 14: the bus ride back. You know, eventually it'll hit you
- 22:20Speaker 14: that you were you know, you were, you were close
- 22:24Speaker 14: to pulling off. You know, you know what would have
- 22:27Speaker 14: been a historic Stork third championship, but just his team
- 22:32Speaker 14: just gave us so much this year, you know, just
- 22:36Speaker 14: didn't make enough shots.
- 22:38Speaker 20: To the right of the isle, Lindsay Lindsay Schnell, the
- 22:41Speaker 20: athletic Dan, how do you sum up what Alex has
- 22:44Speaker 20: meant to your program the last few years and his contribution.
- 22:48Speaker 14: Okay, so now they're crying no, no, I mean, come on,
- 22:52Speaker 14: this guy changed my life, the staff's.
- 22:55Speaker 3: Lives, the joy he's brought.
- 22:57Speaker 14: To the university fan base, his decision to come to Yukon. Uh,
- 23:04Speaker 14: you know, it's made us to you know, Florida won
- 23:07Speaker 14: the national championship last year.
- 23:11Speaker 3: I'll probably get in trouble for this.
- 23:13Speaker 14: Michigan won the national championship this year, you know, but
- 23:17Speaker 14: you know he's helped to make Yukon. I think right now,
- 23:20Speaker 14: you know, we're probably the premier program in college basketball
- 23:23Speaker 14: right now, you know, having been to three out of
- 23:25Speaker 14: four national championship games ever won two of them. He
- 23:30Speaker 14: just he's put Yukon in that in that rarefied place
- 23:34Speaker 14: in college basketball. So everyone owes everything to that guy,
- 23:39Speaker 14: and I figure, let me just play, let me play
- 23:42Speaker 14: him into the ground one more time. We're just one
- 23:45Speaker 14: more forty minute game for Alex. Let me just let
- 23:47Speaker 14: me just let me just play that guy into the
- 23:50Speaker 14: ground one more night, like I have throughout his career.
- 23:53Speaker 3: He deserved to play forty minutes to the right of
- 23:56Speaker 3: the issle.
- 23:58Speaker 21: Hey coach having Mikawa a dot com obviously, you mentioned
- 24:02Speaker 21: Michigan has rolled through this tournament. I know you have respect,
- 24:04Speaker 21: a lot of respect for Dusty May. Where does this
- 24:06Speaker 21: Michigan team rank for you in terms of the most
- 24:09Speaker 21: difficult opponents that you've played in your career.
- 24:11Speaker 14: Uh, It's one of the better teams that I've played,
- 24:16Speaker 14: you know, you know, certainly since I've been a you know,
- 24:19Speaker 14: a college you know, college basketball coach. Now, like when
- 24:23Speaker 14: I was back at Rhode Island, I coached against an
- 24:25Speaker 14: Arizona team with Aaron Gordon and and uh Hollis Jefferson
- 24:29Speaker 14: and Nick Johnson and t J.
- 24:31Speaker 3: McConnell.
- 24:32Speaker 14: You know, I you know, I've coached against some teams
- 24:35Speaker 14: you know, with a lot of you know, with a
- 24:37Speaker 14: lot of good players.
- 24:38Speaker 3: They're they're I mean, they're legit.
- 24:40Speaker 14: I mean they're there are definitely you know, uh deserved
- 24:44Speaker 14: to win the national championship. They're clearly the best team
- 24:47Speaker 14: in the country this year. You know, they're they're just
- 24:51Speaker 14: so hard to score against at the rim. I could
- 24:53Speaker 14: talk about the the threes that we missed, and I
- 24:55Speaker 14: thought we had a lot of good threes that we missed,
- 24:58Speaker 14: but they just made it's so tough on us around
- 25:01Speaker 14: the rim. I mean it was probably what even got
- 25:04Speaker 14: us more than the mysteries was some of those rim
- 25:06Speaker 14: shots Solos transition basket. I think they cut at the
- 25:09Speaker 14: four could have put some serious game pressure on them.
- 25:12Speaker 14: They changed so many shots around the rim. They're just
- 25:14Speaker 14: so tall.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Yeah, they's right, they are really tall, really good, and
- 25:25Speaker 1: that team played them within six had no business doing it, honestly,
- 25:29Speaker 1: because nobody else did. Let's hear from the winning coach,
- 25:33Speaker 1: Dusty May. Then we'll get some questions for the student athletes.
- 25:36Speaker 11: First.
- 25:37Speaker 15: Yeah, what a way to wrap up the twenty five
- 25:38Speaker 15: to twenty six college basketball season with this group. I
- 25:42Speaker 15: want to begin by thinking last year's team at Michigan,
- 25:47Speaker 15: we came up a little bit short, but those guys
- 25:49Speaker 15: laid the foundation, established an identity for us and also
- 25:53Speaker 15: helped attract these guys to come in and chase this
- 25:57Speaker 15: stream together. And secondly, I want to think our FAU guys,
- 26:01Speaker 15: the team and staff that really, really this is one
- 26:05Speaker 15: time I'm make it about me that really helped us
- 26:07Speaker 15: grow together. And that was the first time I'd been
- 26:11Speaker 15: with a group that was truly sacrificial, where we were
- 26:14Speaker 15: about each other and because of that, we all improve
- 26:17Speaker 15: so much.
- 26:18Speaker 18: And this team's done the same thing.
- 26:20Speaker 15: When you bring a group this talented together and they
- 26:23Speaker 15: decide from the beginning that they're going to do it
- 26:25Speaker 15: this way and they never waiver and they never change,
- 26:28Speaker 15: that's probably the most uncommon thing in athletics now. And
- 26:31Speaker 15: it's a tribute to their to them their character, but
- 26:34Speaker 15: also those in their circles around them, their coaches, their parents,
- 26:38Speaker 15: their their mentors. They allowed these guys to give themselves
- 26:43Speaker 15: up for the group, and it's never guaranteed, but for
- 26:47Speaker 15: these guys to cut down the nets after all they
- 26:49Speaker 15: sacrifice is pretty special.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Dan Wilkan, y'all who sports.
- 26:52Speaker 18: Congratulations, it's Dusty.
- 26:53Speaker 19: It took you a very long time in your career
- 26:56Speaker 19: to get to a point where you could pick your
- 26:59Speaker 19: next move. Essentially, what made you think that that you
- 27:02Speaker 19: could do it at Michigan and do it quickly once
- 27:05Speaker 19: you got to that point The.
- 27:07Speaker 15: Hardest part, and first, hold that question real quick, Dan,
- 27:10Speaker 15: I want to Elliott beat me to it.
- 27:12Speaker 18: LJ.
- 27:12Speaker 15: Cason was playing as well as any backup guard all
- 27:17Speaker 15: the country and probably playing as well as anyone on
- 27:19Speaker 15: our roster. And he at Illinois, he's hoop and has
- 27:22Speaker 15: the most Florida man injury in the history of injuries.
- 27:25Speaker 15: And the next day you would think he retired.
- 27:29Speaker 18: And took over an assistant coaching spot. His spirits were up.
- 27:32Speaker 15: He's immediately pouring into the guys trying to learn pick
- 27:35Speaker 15: their brain because he had a different perspective, and that's
- 27:39Speaker 15: very indicative of this team. He never one day brought
- 27:42Speaker 15: negative energy because he felt sorry for himself, and for
- 27:46Speaker 15: Elliott to shout him out beat me to.
- 27:48Speaker 18: It is pretty impressive as well. But the toughest part.
- 27:52Speaker 15: About jobs, and this has always been my opinion because
- 27:55Speaker 15: I've just taken jobs.
- 27:56Speaker 18: My wife used to get angry.
- 27:57Speaker 15: With me because I just call her and say, hey,
- 27:58Speaker 15: what do you think you might if I take this
- 28:00Speaker 15: job for whatever reason? And and so now you don't
- 28:04Speaker 15: get a chance to really go feel the place and
- 28:07Speaker 15: see it. And even fau I went to see it,
- 28:10Speaker 15: and before I'd seen anything, I already signed the contract.
- 28:13Speaker 18: That's how impulsive I am.
- 28:14Speaker 15: And whatever the case, Yeah, and I will give you
- 28:17Speaker 15: a better background than me on all this stuff, and
- 28:21Speaker 15: living in Ipsilanti when I was assistant, a young assistant
- 28:23Speaker 15: in eastern Michigan, I'd never I wasn't that familiar with
- 28:27Speaker 15: Michigan other than eighty nine and being a fan of
- 28:30Speaker 15: the game, and just the feelings that people had, the
- 28:34Speaker 15: pride they had in their university. I just thought that
- 28:36Speaker 15: was really really cool. We thought it was a great
- 28:39Speaker 15: time to get back to the Midwest. We are to
- 28:41Speaker 15: stage our life, or we were empty nesters and just
- 28:44Speaker 15: wanted something different, and then just felt like Michigan was
- 28:46Speaker 15: a place, ultimately with the changing landscape, that we could
- 28:50Speaker 15: retain really good players. Even if it wasn't going great
- 28:54Speaker 15: for them, it was gonna be hard to leave. And
- 28:57Speaker 15: even Terrorist is a great example. He had to go
- 29:00Speaker 15: anywhere in the country, and it was difficult for him.
- 29:02Speaker 15: Based on my conversations, it was difficult for him to
- 29:05Speaker 15: leave the University of Michigan and the relationships that he
- 29:07Speaker 15: had made and all the people that pored in him.
- 29:09Speaker 15: So I just felt like that's the type of place
- 29:11Speaker 15: that I'd love to coach at.
- 29:13Speaker 22: We have a question in the front row.
- 29:16Speaker 23: Clayton Safety with the Wolverine coach, congrats. I mean, you
- 29:19Speaker 23: just won the national championship. You talk a lot about
- 29:23Speaker 23: doing something eternal. You're around Terry Mills a lot. What
- 29:27Speaker 23: do you think this accomplishment is going to do for
- 29:30Speaker 23: this group the rest of their lives and beyond.
- 29:33Speaker 15: It further strengthens their bond and we didn't need this
- 29:36Speaker 15: for that to happen because of their actions all year.
- 29:39Speaker 18: But to hang us, we call this.
- 29:41Speaker 15: We talked about early the season a center banner, like
- 29:43Speaker 15: we have a lot of Michigan's got proud tradition. There's
- 29:46Speaker 15: a lot of banners on the side, there's one lonely
- 29:48Speaker 15: banner up in the middle, and if we were having
- 29:50Speaker 15: a bad practice or we didn't have our edge, we
- 29:53Speaker 15: would remind them that if we're ever going to hang
- 29:56Speaker 15: another banner.
- 29:57Speaker 18: So that one has some company, then we can't.
- 29:59Speaker 15: Have these type of days or we can't have these
- 30:01Speaker 15: type of practices, And usually that was one way that
- 30:04Speaker 15: we could refocus our group.
- 30:05Speaker 7: We have two in the front road towards the right.
- 30:07Speaker 24: Mitch first, Yeah, congratulations, I see Mitch Alvim pre press.
- 30:12Speaker 24: Like I asked the players before, it seemed like this
- 30:15Speaker 24: was a really unusual blueprint to try to win free throws,
- 30:18Speaker 24: blocks and steals. That's not kind of the Michigan thing.
- 30:21Speaker 24: Were you conscious of that was the way we're going
- 30:23Speaker 24: to have to do it. Did you talk to the
- 30:25Speaker 24: players about, Okay, if the other stuff's not working, this
- 30:27Speaker 24: is what we have to do. We talk about like
- 30:29Speaker 24: changing on the fly.
- 30:30Speaker 15: Yeah, we talked we early in games, we can tell
- 30:33Speaker 15: how the game's being played, and so then we talk
- 30:36Speaker 15: about how we have to adjust and we have to
- 30:38Speaker 15: figure out solutions based on how their guarding us and
- 30:40Speaker 15: all the things. We actually thought the basket would open
- 30:45Speaker 15: up a little bit in the second half. We felt
- 30:46Speaker 15: like we were going to make shots in the second half.
- 30:48Speaker 15: We generated I think there were two threes in the
- 30:50Speaker 15: first half that we didn't We didn't really love those
- 30:52Speaker 15: attempts and you're not gonna love them all the rest
- 30:55Speaker 15: of them. We thought we're really good offense, and the
- 30:57Speaker 15: ball just didn't go in, and so we just were
- 30:59Speaker 15: trying not to result in all that we do and
- 31:03Speaker 15: just stay with the process and evaluate the contributions and
- 31:07Speaker 15: how it felt. And so then early in the second half,
- 31:10Speaker 15: the game got a little bit chippy and physical, and
- 31:14Speaker 15: so we thought, this is going to be a game.
- 31:16Speaker 18: We just have to figure it out.
- 31:17Speaker 15: We started going to offensive defensive early, offensive decent substitutions early,
- 31:23Speaker 15: and Yukon was dominating us on the glass. Credit to them,
- 31:26Speaker 15: they were motivated and determined as any team we played
- 31:28Speaker 15: on the offensive glass, and but we did feel like
- 31:32Speaker 15: we were defending well enough that we were gonna be
- 31:35Speaker 15: able to find enough baskets.
- 31:38Speaker 7: Up front of the right side.
- 31:39Speaker 17: Jake Singer with mains and brew first, Well, congratulations, Dusty,
- 31:43Speaker 17: A lot of the players just now we're talking about
- 31:45Speaker 17: your assistant coaches being so instrumental in getting them ready
- 31:47Speaker 17: in game before the game. Can you talk about your
- 31:49Speaker 17: cohesive coaching staff and how much credit was to them
- 31:52Speaker 17: to getting you guys to this point winning this national championship.
- 31:54Speaker 15: I go on until tomorrow that's one of our secret
- 31:59Speaker 15: sauces is we have an incredibly talented group of coaches
- 32:03Speaker 15: that never make it about themselves.
- 32:05Speaker 18: And look, this is an ego driven business.
- 32:08Speaker 15: This is a lot of alpha mel's with great egos
- 32:12Speaker 15: and that's why they're successful.
- 32:14Speaker 18: Doing what they do.
- 32:15Speaker 15: And these guys have made our players the number one, two,
- 32:19Speaker 15: and three priority from day one over their own careers,
- 32:22Speaker 15: over their own individual attention and accolades and things like that,
- 32:26Speaker 15: and so just it's hard for our players not to
- 32:29Speaker 15: follow the team, which is the staff when they're modeling
- 32:33Speaker 15: that behavior every day. And they deserve a big, big
- 32:37Speaker 15: chunk of credit for this.
- 32:39Speaker 1: Sesty May he has won a national championship in his

- 35:06Speaker 4: The only reason why Lamar Jackson would sign a long

- 35:13Speaker 3: That he couldn't refuse.
- 35:15Speaker 4: If you're Lamar, you could potentially get a monster deal

- 35:41Speaker 27: You say you're not from Texas, Welcome into the high
- 35:45Speaker 27: School Report. I'm Caleb Rapley. And today we're jumping out
- 35:48Speaker 27: to the Polaris Fund Center phone line to visit with
- 35:50Speaker 27: the head coach of the College Station Cougar's baseball team,
- 35:54Speaker 27: mister Chris Litton, coach, Thanks for joining.
- 35:57Speaker 8: Us once again, Cayle, thanks for having me on man.
- 36:00Speaker 27: Yes, sir, excited to have you.
- 36:03Speaker 6: You were Cougar's.
- 36:05Speaker 27: Sitting at three and three in district play, you know,
- 36:08Speaker 27: right there on the edge of the playoffs. We got
- 36:11Speaker 27: to hear your thoughts before the season on what you expected.
- 36:15Speaker 27: So what has been some of your biggest surprises now
- 36:18Speaker 27: that we're pretty deep into the season.
- 36:21Speaker 8: To be quite honest, the fact that it took us
- 36:25Speaker 8: this long to come together is probably my biggest surprise.
- 36:29Speaker 8: You know, we played a lot of really tough competition
- 36:31Speaker 8: early and it just, you know, felt like there was always,
- 36:36Speaker 8: you know, one phase of the game that just fell
- 36:38Speaker 8: apart on us and cost us ball games, you know,
- 36:42Speaker 8: and it could have been any phase on any given day.
- 36:45Speaker 8: But you know, through that, like the you know, the
- 36:50Speaker 8: last I'd say, since we've started district play coming off
- 36:56Speaker 8: to two defeats from Brentham, you know, we've really put
- 36:59Speaker 8: together some solid baseball, you know, in all phases of
- 37:02Speaker 8: the game and playing complete games, you know. And with that,
- 37:06Speaker 8: with that, I think we've we've won, you know, three
- 37:09Speaker 8: out of our last four district ball games, splitting with
- 37:14Speaker 8: Montgomery and then taking two last week from Huntsville.
- 37:18Speaker 27: You know, getting hot at the right time for sure,
- 37:20Speaker 27: with three of the last four district games being a win,
- 37:23Speaker 27: like you said, and you know, this is kind of
- 37:26Speaker 27: the most important part of the season right here. You're
- 37:29Speaker 27: tied with Rudder for fourth place in district both at
- 37:31Speaker 27: three and three, and tonight opening up the home and
- 37:36Speaker 27: home series with the crosstown rival, the Cross you know,
- 37:39Speaker 27: school district rival and them consolidated. So what are your thoughts,
- 37:43Speaker 27: what are some of the keys to victory? And these
- 37:45Speaker 27: these last three series of the year against Kansol, Rudder
- 37:48Speaker 27: and then Lake Creek.
- 37:50Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm keep things in perspective like this is this
- 37:53Speaker 8: is all about us. This has nothing to do with
- 37:56Speaker 8: our opponent. We're gonna face you know, we're gonna good
- 38:00Speaker 8: baseball teams and we know that. But at the end
- 38:03Speaker 8: of the day, like if we can play championship defense
- 38:06Speaker 8: and we can get the ball on his zone and
- 38:09Speaker 8: force the other teams to uh to score by by
- 38:13Speaker 8: putting stringing together hits, and then you know, our offense
- 38:17Speaker 8: is extremely explosive and it could pop off at any
- 38:20Speaker 8: moment with any amount of outs in any inny. So
- 38:24Speaker 8: you know, we just uh just got to stay the
- 38:26Speaker 8: course and be who we are and be true to
- 38:28Speaker 8: that and don't try and look ahead, just stay right
- 38:31Speaker 8: in a moment, play one game at a time and
- 38:34Speaker 8: and let everything fall chips forward where they may.
- 38:38Speaker 27: So Brenham is, you know, undefeated at the top of
- 38:41Speaker 27: the district eight and zero, and then the next five
- 38:44Speaker 27: teams are all within two games of each other. So
- 38:46Speaker 27: how how has that been? You know, having having that
- 38:50Speaker 27: close the competition between that many teams all fighting, you know,
- 38:54Speaker 27: five teams fighting for three spots in the playoffs, and.
- 38:57Speaker 8: It's another day in the office for us, Like this
- 39:00Speaker 8: isn't this isn't anything new. You know, you can you
- 39:04Speaker 8: can go back like our district is one of the
- 39:06Speaker 8: toughest districts in the state of Texas and five A.
- 39:09Speaker 8: You know again, I've and I've said it and I'll
- 39:11Speaker 8: go on record and I'll say it again that I
- 39:12Speaker 8: don't think we get enough credit, you know, throughout the
- 39:16Speaker 8: state and polls and rankings and all the things. With
- 39:20Speaker 8: the teams that we have in our district. I think
- 39:22Speaker 8: Brenham is really overlooked.
- 39:25Speaker 28: Uh.
- 39:26Speaker 8: They they put it together in all three phases and
- 39:28Speaker 8: they've done so all season long. And then you've got
- 39:30Speaker 8: everybody else that's right there battling it out for two, three,
- 39:33Speaker 8: four spots to get in. So you know, it's it's
- 39:38Speaker 8: again just another day at the office. We know the
- 39:41Speaker 8: competition is going to be stiff on every night. We
- 39:43Speaker 8: we we strap it up and go play. But that's
- 39:48Speaker 8: also a part of you know, who's gonna get those
- 39:51Speaker 8: final spots is who can come together late in the season,
- 39:54Speaker 8: make a run, do things right, and get hot.
- 39:57Speaker 27: So your lineup really seems to be a length of
- 40:00Speaker 27: the team. You know, a lot of guys batting over
- 40:03Speaker 27: three hundred as of now, who's been you know, one
- 40:07Speaker 27: of the biggest surprises on the team that you weren't
- 40:10Speaker 27: expecting maybe to have as big a role as they are.
- 40:13Speaker 8: That's that's a hard one for me to answer, Like, like,
- 40:16Speaker 8: these guys, aren't they don't they don't surprise me. I
- 40:18Speaker 8: watch them every day and I get to see how
- 40:20Speaker 8: good they are, right, I think I guess the one
- 40:24Speaker 8: thing that that kind of surprised me was, you know,
- 40:27Speaker 8: some of them with this little confidence as they had
- 40:29Speaker 8: themselves during parts of stretches during the season. You know,
- 40:34Speaker 8: we got Blade Sanger, who's pacing everything, pacing our offense,
- 40:38Speaker 8: and and he's he's our spark at the top, you know,
- 40:43Speaker 8: and he's he's been extremely consistent all year long, just
- 40:47Speaker 8: pounding baseballs, you know. And then we've kind of shuffled
- 40:52Speaker 8: around the two, three, four spot, but you know, you
- 40:56Speaker 8: got you know, Hudson Hutson stories been coming on strong.
- 41:00Speaker 8: And then you've got Zeke who's uh leading us an
- 41:03Speaker 8: RBI and you know, he's one of the tops in
- 41:06Speaker 8: Texas and in the home run who's been hitting the
- 41:10Speaker 8: three hole for us Uh, Brett Basham over three hundred,
- 41:14Speaker 8: extremely productive right behind that, and and then you know,
- 41:19Speaker 8: we worked down the lineup and you got a guy
- 41:21Speaker 8: like Keaton Johnson, who's a two time All District player.
- 41:24Speaker 8: You don't say that very often in our district, you know,
- 41:28Speaker 8: and uh, and then we've got you know, other guys
- 41:32Speaker 8: down there towards the bottom with the freshman Atlanta and Atkinson.
- 41:37Speaker 8: You know, you've had Jordan Morales all year in our lineup,
- 41:39Speaker 8: and and then we've got guys that are fighting in
- 41:42Speaker 8: like a Cade Newton right now and Tyler Banfield.
- 41:45Speaker 3: Who's d H and for us, who's super.
- 41:48Speaker 8: Athletic and who can hit the ball freaking mile, you know,
- 41:53Speaker 8: and it's just like there's not there's not a soft spot.
- 41:55Speaker 8: So uh, you know, there's no there's no breaks one
- 41:59Speaker 8: through nine, and you know it is. It's it's the
- 42:03Speaker 8: most potent offense that we've had since twenty two.
- 42:08Speaker 27: All right, coach, Well, I appreciate your time today, good luck.
- 42:11Speaker 27: You know these last three series of the year will
- 42:13Speaker 27: be a lot of fun to watch. Looking forward to.
- 42:15Speaker 8: It, Yes, sir, Thanks kettle.

- 45:27Speaker 11: an RBI single from Corey Seeger, which brought in Wyatt
- 45:30Speaker 11: Langford to tie things at one in the bottom first.
- 45:33Speaker 11: The score would stay put until the bottom six win.
- 45:35Speaker 11: A double from Jake Berger scored Corey Seger to put

- 48:06Speaker 1: and a lot of let's do dinner. I know he's
- 48:11Speaker 1: out there. One of the great songs, one of the
- 48:15Speaker 1: many he has done over the years. We are spring
- 48:19Speaker 1: football headquarters. You already know that. I've told you repeatedly.
- 48:23Speaker 1: We're counting down the days to the Maroon White game.
- 48:25Speaker 1: We're eleven days away, repeat, eleven days away to the
- 48:30Speaker 1: Maroon White game. To that end, let's hear from defensive
- 48:34Speaker 1: end Marco Jones.
- 48:36Speaker 32: Okay, Marco, where's the ash rush is going to come
- 48:39Speaker 32: from in twenty six without all the guys that are
- 48:43Speaker 32: they're gone.
- 48:43Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean the pass rush, Like you know, everybody,
- 48:46Speaker 9: everybody's been working super hard getting their pass rush, like
- 48:48Speaker 9: the whole you got to expect it from the whole
- 48:50Speaker 9: D line, right between all the dns, all the d tackles,
- 48:53Speaker 9: right linebackers, Like the whole defense is going to be
- 48:55Speaker 9: involved and really getting home. It's kind of just like
- 48:58Speaker 9: a brotherhood name where we all going let it like
- 49:00Speaker 9: we all eat so like you know, even if somebody
- 49:02Speaker 9: doesn't get a sack, they setting it up for somebody else.
- 49:04Speaker 32: How have you grown from my last spree?
- 49:08Speaker 16: Uh?
- 49:08Speaker 9: Yeah, basically Yeah, I think I think I've just kind
- 49:11Speaker 9: of like been able to understand more of the game, right,
- 49:14Speaker 9: Like I I came and thinking I knew a lot
- 49:16Speaker 9: about the game, but I really didn't know a lot,
- 49:17Speaker 9: like situational wise and stuff like that. But I think
- 49:20Speaker 9: a lot just like knowing understanding more of the game
- 49:23Speaker 9: and also just like kind of like understanding myself as
- 49:26Speaker 9: a player, like really like tapping into what I like
- 49:28Speaker 9: to do, how like my my true play style, and
- 49:31Speaker 9: really like kind of refining that and and fine tuning everything.
- 49:34Speaker 32: Is it at all, Dawn think that a lot of
- 49:37Speaker 32: people look at you as bag Addam's gonna step in
- 49:39Speaker 32: and replace or try and replace the SEC defensive player.
- 49:43Speaker 14: Of the year.
- 49:43Speaker 9: No, not at all. I I opened it. I'm I
- 49:46Speaker 9: welcome with open arms. You know. That's That's all I've wanted,
- 49:49Speaker 9: right Like, I mean since I've since I came here.
- 49:51Speaker 9: You know, nobody comes here wanting to ride the bench
- 49:53Speaker 9: or anything like that, So you know, you kind of
- 49:54Speaker 9: want to come in here and really do the right
- 49:56Speaker 9: thing and be able to step up and and feel
- 49:58Speaker 9: feel big shoes and hopefully exceed big shoots at the
- 50:01Speaker 9: end of the at end of time too.
- 50:02Speaker 33: You mentioned trying to understand your play style, and so
- 50:05Speaker 33: you've learned more about yourself as a player. How would
- 50:07Speaker 33: you start to describe the players the stylid play that
- 50:10Speaker 33: that you you're starting defining yourself.
- 50:12Speaker 9: Yeah, I think just really like aggressive and also, uh,
- 50:17Speaker 9: I think a good thing is like technical, like really
- 50:19Speaker 9: understanding like when to do certain things, and you know,
- 50:22Speaker 9: liked playing defensive end is kind of like playing a
- 50:24Speaker 9: game within the game, right You're going against big guys
- 50:26Speaker 9: who are also athletic and things like that, like especially
- 50:29Speaker 9: in the pass words, like really just understanding the type
- 50:32Speaker 9: of rushler I am, and and just you know, just
- 50:34Speaker 9: going from there and and sending them up to do
- 50:36Speaker 9: what I wanna do and like be able to control control.
- 50:38Speaker 30: Again, how do you change is pally this so season?
- 50:41Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean I gained probably like ten ish pounds
- 50:45Speaker 9: or like like seven pounds from last year since the
- 50:47Speaker 9: end of the season, but really just getting a lot faster,
- 50:51Speaker 9: Like I got a lot faster since offseason, working on
- 50:54Speaker 9: you know, getting more flexible and things like that.
- 50:56Speaker 3: You can consider yourself more like the Trump.
- 50:58Speaker 9: Side since then that, Uh, I mean right now, I'm
- 51:02Speaker 9: still playing jack. So I think I think kind of
- 51:04Speaker 9: all just like I you know, last year, I played
- 51:06Speaker 9: a little bit of both, right in the spring last year,
- 51:07Speaker 9: I played uh big end, and then and then going
- 51:09Speaker 9: to the season, I played jack. So I think it's
- 51:11Speaker 9: kind of just for me, like just being able to
- 51:14Speaker 9: uh help out the D line. I could play both places,
- 51:16Speaker 9: but really just wherever we need somebody, I'm I'm there
- 51:18Speaker 9: to fill on.
- 51:19Speaker 22: Those are the biggest differences between those two positions and
- 51:23Speaker 22: how fun.
- 51:24Speaker 12: Is it to be able play?
- 51:25Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean I think the biggest, uh, the biggest
- 51:28Speaker 9: difference uh is really just I mean, there's not too
- 51:30Speaker 9: many differences. The really biggest difference is just one is
- 51:33Speaker 9: to the field once the boundary. But also, like you know,
- 51:35Speaker 9: the jack uh tends to drop in the coverage a
- 51:37Speaker 9: little bit more, but nothing too crazy, like, I mean,
- 51:40Speaker 9: who knows, you know, we have a lot of stuff, uh,
- 51:41Speaker 9: a lot of stuff that are very similar. It's really
- 51:43Speaker 9: just the hand in the dirt and standing up.
- 51:45Speaker 33: I think that baseball back draft and help dropping in
- 51:47Speaker 33: the coverage a little.
- 51:48Speaker 12: Bit at all.
- 51:48Speaker 9: Yeah, definitely taking angles kind of just understanding that, Like
- 51:51Speaker 9: that's something that I always helped me. I mean I
- 51:54Speaker 9: also played middle backer in high school throughout my whole
- 51:56Speaker 9: high school career, so I think that's something that also
- 51:58Speaker 9: helps me gout.
- 51:58Speaker 17: And there's a lot of Uh, you guys on the
- 52:01Speaker 17: offensive line, what's been like going against those guys as
- 52:04Speaker 17: team and have you.
- 52:05Speaker 14: Seen them come to be in so far?
- 52:06Speaker 9: Yeah, it's been great. I mean they've been, Like, it's mean,
- 52:08Speaker 9: there's been great battles, great work between us. Right, the
- 52:10Speaker 9: whole goal is it's to go out as hard as
- 52:12Speaker 9: you can, you know, so we could all be the best,
- 52:15Speaker 9: the best version of ourselves right going into this season,
- 52:17Speaker 9: because at the end of the world, teammates. So I
- 52:19Speaker 9: think it's been it's been really good kind of just
- 52:21Speaker 9: collaborating with collaborating with them and getting to go against
- 52:24Speaker 9: them and kind of like you know, getting their feedback
- 52:26Speaker 9: on what are our stuff looks like and us giving
- 52:28Speaker 9: them feedback on what their stuff looks like. Trying to
- 52:29Speaker 9: just help each other out so we could be the
- 52:31Speaker 9: best version of ourselves.
- 52:32Speaker 16: You know.
- 52:32Speaker 1: Similarly, there's a lot of new additions, better pieces in
- 52:35Speaker 1: the room with you. What if you learned from some
- 52:36Speaker 1: of the new guys that come.
- 52:37Speaker 9: In, Yeah, I mean all all of the new guys
- 52:40Speaker 9: are are super talented, right, like you have all the
- 52:42Speaker 9: the new defensive ends you have, Like they're they're all
- 52:45Speaker 9: really talented, right. They they all came in here like
- 52:48Speaker 9: kind of like already command and commanding who they are
- 52:51Speaker 9: as a player. I think, you know, like they're they're
- 52:53Speaker 9: gonna have super bright futures in in front of 'em,
- 52:55Speaker 9: and it kind of just helps me understand like like
- 52:58Speaker 9: just you know, like owls in their shoes kind of
- 53:00Speaker 9: just helped me like get to that role like like
- 53:02Speaker 9: being like a older, older guy to help them out
- 53:05Speaker 9: when whenever they needed.
- 53:06Speaker 32: What did you learn the most about playing the SEC
- 53:09Speaker 32: is a it's a break.
- 53:10Speaker 9: Yeah. I mean I think what I learned the most
- 53:12Speaker 9: is really just like every every game is a dog fight,
- 53:16Speaker 9: right no matter if they're the top of the SEC
- 53:17Speaker 9: the bottom SEC. Like every every p every team has
- 53:20Speaker 9: good players. Every team is gonna be good that you
- 53:22Speaker 9: play like there's nothing not gonna be just like a
- 53:24Speaker 9: game you could breeze through. And I think that's something
- 53:26Speaker 9: that like people don't realize. It's like even if a
- 53:29Speaker 9: team is super low on the on the s on
- 53:31Speaker 9: the schedule and they're zero and eight, right like, there's
- 53:33Speaker 9: still it's still gonna be a dog fight and it's
- 53:34Speaker 9: still gonna be a good game. Like everybody has really
- 53:36Speaker 9: good players.
- 53:38Speaker 22: Uh.
- 53:38Speaker 9: I definitely miss baseball a little bit, but I think
- 53:40Speaker 9: it's the best decision for me personally.
- 53:42Speaker 33: Similarly, the pup's first question right there, just what would
- 53:45Speaker 33: you learn the most from cashes, especially as someone that.
- 53:48Speaker 26: You might be second this year.
- 53:50Speaker 9: Yeah, I think I think for cash like something that
- 53:52Speaker 9: I learned to just like make everything like super intentional, right,
- 53:56Speaker 9: everything you do when whenever you're rushing or set in
- 53:59Speaker 9: the edge or doing things like that, just like make
- 54:00Speaker 9: everything intentional and always bring your best your best game.
- 54:04Speaker 22: What would end your decision to kind of si football?
- 54:06Speaker 9: And yeah, I mean I think my my goal has
- 54:11Speaker 9: always been to go to the NFL, and I think
- 54:13Speaker 9: that's probably more in my future than going to the
- 54:15Speaker 9: MLB quite to be quite honest. So I just had
- 54:18Speaker 9: to kind of sit down and see, you know, like
- 54:20Speaker 9: I'll be missing a lot of reps if I do
- 54:21Speaker 9: play baseball in the spring. So he's something I was
- 54:24Speaker 9: just like, hey, like it's it's a hard decision. I
- 54:26Speaker 9: love baseball. I want to play it, but at the
- 54:28Speaker 9: end of the day, like I gotta I gotta do
- 54:29Speaker 9: the best for me and my family and.
- 54:31Speaker 23: We have the team at all the season watching the
- 54:33Speaker 23: games or anything.
- 54:34Speaker 17: Like that, when you making the best, sorry the team,
- 54:37Speaker 17: if you watching the games the season, when you make
- 54:39Speaker 17: the best.
- 54:40Speaker 9: Oh yeah, yeah, I I I've watched a lot of
- 54:42Speaker 9: the a lot of the games, and I mean they are,
- 54:44Speaker 9: they're on fire, Like all the freshmen are hitting Jorian Nico,
- 54:48Speaker 9: my guys are, They're they're super cool, GAVs going. He's
- 54:51Speaker 9: hitting really well. Surreal obviously is I don't even know
- 54:53Speaker 9: how many moms he hit now, So I think they're
- 54:55Speaker 9: they're hitting really well.
- 54:56Speaker 15: Uh.
- 54:56Speaker 9: They they have a really a really bright season ahead
- 54:58Speaker 9: of them.
- 54:59Speaker 32: So where has you been hit in that order?
- 55:01Speaker 3: No, that's a great question.
- 55:02Speaker 17: Trade truck guy last night?
- 55:04Speaker 33: You think he could commenters?
- 55:05Speaker 9: You know, Oh yeah, he's he's a big dude, So
- 55:07Speaker 9: I think I think he could. I think he could.
- 55:10Speaker 1: We understand where your team bows up. But is that
- 55:11Speaker 1: any personal goals who said up this season you can
- 55:13Speaker 1: share with us?
- 55:14Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean I think personally, you know, I just
- 55:17Speaker 9: want to be the best player I could be possible
- 55:19Speaker 9: a right, Like every season, I want to I want
- 55:21Speaker 9: to really be able to work on something. I don't
- 55:23Speaker 9: have any like number goals or something like that, because
- 55:25Speaker 9: that's you know, sometimes like people get fixated on that
- 55:28Speaker 9: and it kind of takes away from other parts of
- 55:29Speaker 9: the game. So I think really just just being the
- 55:31Speaker 9: best teammate, the best leader, and the best version of
- 55:33Speaker 9: myself possible.
- 55:34Speaker 32: You were thinking.
- 55:35Speaker 1: About playing all right, that's Marco Jones talking to the media.
