- 0:34SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to the High Level Wife podcast.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: I'm Chelsea Holm, your hostess.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: And here we do Marriage God's Way.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: And for the longest time, our tagline for High Level Wife has been fully surrendered, spirit led, and set apart.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: And while all of that is true, yesterday Tommy was like, hey, I have an idea for a shift for the tagline.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: And immediately when I read it, I was like, yes, that is it.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: That is so it.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: And so the new tagline, really the embodiment of what we're doing inside high-level wife and the wives who are in there is uh tender, tenacious, and taking back territory that the enemy has stolen.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: And I think that that just hits the nail on the head.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: It's, you know, it, yes, there are women that come in and, you know, broken and saying, I don't know that I really need to change that much, but my husband needs to change, right?
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: Like, I get it.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: I get it.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Like, I walked through that also, but God, what?
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: God.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: And all God needs to work with is our fully surrendered heart to be the broken soil for him to work in, and our obedience.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: And that is the part that a woman who is tender and tenacious and taking back territory that the enemy has stolen, that is the key.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: Fully surrendered and obedient, right?
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: And that starts with repentance.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: And that repentance only comes from implementing the right biblical order, which is God first, then you, then your spouse, then your kids, then your work, and everything else.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: That is the right order.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: And any other way is not going to produce the fruit of flourishing in marriage.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: It's just not.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: I have seen husband after husband come into high-level husband saying, like, I am so successful in my career, and I've given my wife everything, and now she's asking for a divorce.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: What in the world?
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: And I've had so many wives come into high level wife and saying, I poured out my life for my kids and my husband and gave them everything.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: And now I don't know my husband, and we're completely disconnected.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: What is happening here?
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: Like, because the problem is these husbands and wives have been living according to a blueprint, unknowingly, but it's the world's blueprint.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: It's not a biblical blueprint for marriage.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: It doesn't take into account the design that God set in motion.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: And it doesn't take into account the function and the roles that God established for us.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: I'm not talking about who unloads the dishwasher or who mows the yard.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: I'm not talking about that.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: I'm talking about our actual identity and function within the institution of marriage, which was created and designed by God.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: As were you and your spouse.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: You were knit in your mother's womb.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: You were chosen.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: There were works that God established and predestined you to walk in before the world was even formed.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: Do you understand that, right?
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: And so tender.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: Here's the thing: like I work with women, and this used to be me too.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: I work with women every day that are strong, that are hardened, that are walking with armor as thick as an armadillo's, whatever it's called, armor.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: Armor?
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: I don't know much about armadillos, but I know that they have armor, right?
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: But you get what I'm saying?
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: Like it's as thick as the hide of a hippo or a rhino or whatever, what have you.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: I don't know why I'm going with animals today, but I am, right?
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: Like I used to be that woman, you know, I would just take everything on and I would carry all these burdens that Jesus never asked me to carry and never intended me to carry, and God does not design me to carry.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: It crushed me over time.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: But see, the thing is, I was crushed on the inside behind those walls, but I wouldn't allow myself to be honest enough to admit it.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: And that's the same for women.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: That may be the same for you that you're like, I can do it.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: What do I even need my husband for?
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: I do everything, anyways, right?
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: That's not the way God designed you.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: And it crushes you.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: You're crushed on the inside.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: If you were to let down those walls, take down those walls, and let anyone peer inside, they would see a very hurt, defeated, crushed woman who expects bad things to happen and doesn't understand the heart of your father that you can actually trust that he will not let you down.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: You will not be disappointed in the Lord.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: And I'm telling you this firsthand.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: Just yesterday, I was expressing my frustrations to the Lord that, you know, was really coming out of this navigational system that I developed over my lifetime of expecting to be disappointed.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: And so in that, I was putting that onto the Lord, and I was subconsciously expecting to be disappointed.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: Like, even though he made these promises, you know, there's still like that part of me that's waiting for the other shoe to drop, like saying I believe in him and actually believing in him, like two totally different things.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: And God revealed this to me in his graciousness, in his tender, loving care towards me, so that I could see that when I asked that question, do I actually believe that God wants to give me good things?
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: Not just that he can, right?
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: But that he actually will and wants to.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: And when I asked that question, I realized, no, I'm expecting to be disappointed.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm buffering how I speak and how I walk with this in light of expecting to be disappointed subconsciously.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: And God shook me of that and broke me of that and revealed it to me, and it was so good.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: Okay, so now I'm gonna peel back the curtains a little bit for you.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: Um, well, I'm just gonna throw them wide open.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: That's what I do.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: I don't just peel back the curtains and give you a peek.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: I will throw them wide open for you.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: So I can't remember if I've talked, I think I have talked about this in in previous recent episodes about um my husband getting offered this special position.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: And immediately, like, we both had like overwhelming just excitement of like, yes, like this is so in line to use your spiritual giftings.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: And it was an answer to so many prayers that we were praying for one thing and had no idea, like, this is the goodness of the Lord.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: We were pleasantly surprised in an unexpected way for this for my husband.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: And so we had that piece, but then came the news that the move date would be very like much sooner.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: And we had already talked about doing as we had done in the past, like when Zach went to um CGSC, and it was only it was a year long and it was in Kansas, right?
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: And he went by himself rather than moving the whole family for a year.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: Um, we really felt the confidence in that, that that's how the Lord was leading us, and we hated it.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: We hated that decision, but we did it, um, and we made it.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: And the Lord sustained us, and we learned and grew grew a lot during that time.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: A lot of intentional driving and seeing each other and really uh just going above and beyond of being intentional in our marriage um and playing out the right order anyway.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: So, so then we approached this same situation because of the peace we had for him to take that position.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: We approached it in the same way of like, well, we'll just do the same thing, right?
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: Like, we'll be apart for two years.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: It's not a big deal, we'll figure it out, we can do it.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: But I had no peace in that decision, and I really wrestled with that for several days.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: And honestly, looking back, I should have told my husband, but here's the big but, right?
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: Everything after the but.
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: Um, I was I was allowing the walls to stay up, but I wasn't expressing in a raw, real, messy middle state to my husband that, hey, I'm really struggling with this.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: And I and I didn't reveal that to him because I couldn't quite put it into words in a way that was like well enough for my own like fears.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: And you know, it was like I was like leaning into presenting myself as a certain way when I needed to be vulnerable, I needed to lean into that.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: And thankfully, Tommy actually called me out on this decision, and I'm thankful that he had the courage to challenge us in this decision because when he did, it was like immediate peace and relief for me.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: I know it kind of tossed my husband into some turmoil and and uh and all of that, which I'll get into that a little later.
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: But um, you know, I was just like, okay, yes, like, you know, we teach biblical right order, and you know, we just because, and here's the thing, like as believers who are mature in the faith, just because we can do something doesn't mean that we should.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: We have freedom in Christ.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: And that was one of the um one of the things that one of the references that kept coming to mind of like, yes, we have freedom in Christ, so can we do this?
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: Sure, we can do this, and will the Lord get us through it?
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 10:13SPEAKER_00: But and here's a big butt again.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: What damage are we gonna be doing to those who are not as mature in their faith who may imitate us in doing the same thing?
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: And is that wisdom as mature believers in the faith?
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: No, and so biblically it it it it wasn't a wise decision for us, and um, you know, and my husband and I both had to struggle through that in various ways.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: And I know I'm not gonna speak for him, except for what he shared with me, that you know, when I came back to him and expressed my concerns that you know, he really felt like he like he was hearing, Zach, you made a bad decision, right?
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: You made a poor decision, and so he's been walking with the Lord through that and understand, like just because that's that what he hears, right?
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: That's the story he tells himself.
- 11:07SPEAKER_00: That's a lie from the enemy, and that brings shame.
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: And we don't walk in that, right?
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: Um, so anyway, so we've had lots of great conversations.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: So, fast forward, um then it was really the logistics of do we sell our house?
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: Like, okay, so we're all going together.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: Okay, we got that part, right?
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: And this has been one of those where God is only revealing a little bit at a time, He'll reveal a step, and then we have to act in faithful obedience.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: And sometimes we have to act in faithful obedience before he exactly reveals the step or the provision.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: And it's been such an interesting journey in just building our faith, truly, um, and also asking, you know, big audacious faith from us.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: And it's really it's revealed to me that like God made me someone who has big belief and crazy audacious faith, even when I don't see it.
- 12:01SPEAKER_00: And so it's honestly been me being able to step fully into that.
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: And it's so interesting though, because like that came from the Lord.
- 12:11SPEAKER_00: Um, that's not me because I was starting to feel the weight of trying to build up my family's faith in the same, same way.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: And that's not a burden that the Lord asked me to do.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: He just asked me to hold on to my big belief and have big faith and speak as if it has already been done.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: And this ties back into that do I believe that God wants to do good, right?
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: And wants to give me good, right?
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: And not leading it falling back into that like disappointed expectation.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: Um, and so like it all ties together.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: Um, and so it was interesting because my husband said, he's like, you know, you've always said that we're really good together because you know, you have like this big vision and like these big dreams and you know, like this big belief.
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: He's like, and and you know, and I'm very rational and reasonable, and um, you know, so I keep you grounded.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: And, you know, I told him, I said, you're absolutely right.
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: I said, so I love that you do keep me grounded.
- 13:11SPEAKER_00: I said, but sometimes you need to let my big audacious faith pull you up to increase yours.
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: Um, now he's still, I don't know.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: He didn't really say anything after I told him that, but it's so true.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: And I had to, I reiterated it again because guess what?
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: The guy who's replacing him in his unit, like, ooh, fly just buzzed me in the face.
- 13:33SPEAKER_00: Uh, he has a bigger family, he's looking for a house.
- 13:36SPEAKER_00: Guess who's gonna rent our house?
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: They're interested in renting our house.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: God provided the renter.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: I'm still holding out for$2,700 because that's what the Lord told me and revealed to me.
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: Um, and just today, like it's it it every step of this journey has required big faith and radical obedience.
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: Big faith and radical obedience.
- 13:55SPEAKER_00: Um, and confidently speaking, as if the Lord has already done it, you know, and that gets some crazy looks and that gets some skepticism, and that gets some, you know, like what are you even talking about?
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: Like that it it's not usually received well.
- 14:12SPEAKER_00: Um, but it doesn't matter because that's the way that we have to go.
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: And like right now, so today, now we're moving back into logistics of okay, we got to write up the contract for the renters, and we, you know, like, okay, now we need we need to find a place where we're gonna rent and live and you know, because things are moving forward.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: Um, and you know, and so we're looking at houses.
- 14:31SPEAKER_00: We found one that I just felt like it was one of those godwinks of I've always wanted an office with white French doors.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: And we found this house.
- 14:39SPEAKER_00: And Zach just talked about a three-car garage, which seems like totally overabundant.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: Like the house itself is not that big, but it has a three-car garage.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: We were just talking about this, and he was like, Man, that would be so nice.
- 14:51SPEAKER_00: And like God is just confirming to us that, like, and I know his blessings are not always just in those things, right?
- 14:58SPEAKER_00: And it's not in the worldly sense of success or keeping up with the Joneses, not at all, but in the fact that God hears us and responds to us, and he wants to give us good things, but we have to respond with big belief and big faith and radical obedience, you guys.
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: So we're looking at this house, and guess what?
- 15:21SPEAKER_00: It's gonna require a month's rent and a month's like rent security deposit.
- 15:27SPEAKER_00: Well, guess that's almost five grand.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: Um, we don't have that just living around or lying around.
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: We got five kids and all the things, and you know, we're primarily a soul income, which we have been since before Emma was born, shortly before she was born.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: Um, and you know, but God has always provided, He's always provided so richly, and so now it's like here's that that step of faith of like, Lord, if this is the house, we know you're gonna make way and we know you're gonna provide whatever that looks like, whatever that looks like.
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: And I'm just praising him all the way.
- 16:05SPEAKER_00: And today he gave me a new song.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, the song, God, you're so good, God, you're so good, right?
- 16:14SPEAKER_00: That song, so like that, and then added a verse of like, Jesus, you saved, Jesus, you saved, Jesus, you've saved my soul, and spirit, you move, spirit, you move, spirit, you move, spirit, you move today.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: And he just like, my eyes are overflowing with the Holy Spirit right now because God is so good and he wants to give you good things, but it requires your full surrender and your radical obedience, right?
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: And it requires a hardened, protected woman to lean fully into God and address the baggage and submit to the healing of the hand of the savior, our savior, to become tender.
- 17:05SPEAKER_00: It requires the radical obedience and the big belief in not looking at what you see in front of you, but trusting the God who sees everything and isn't bound by our limitations to become tenacious.
- 17:19SPEAKER_00: And it requires a boldness of faith to move forward, not just protecting what we have, but actually going into enemy territory and taking it back because the enemy stole it in your marriage, and you are taking it back, my sister.
- 17:36SPEAKER_00: If this is something that you want further discipleship on, come join high-level wife because whoo! Right now, the spirit is moving.
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: He just gave me fresh wind, fresh fire today on a training.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna bring this up coming Tuesday, and it is fire.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: This isn't about wives sitting in their excuses.
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: This is about being called out and called higher and being enabled and filled by the spirit to do it, to do what you have never been able to do and will never be able to do apart from him.
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: I will see you on the next episode.
