- 0:04Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Hello, Big Blue Nation, Welcome to Justin Cats. My name
- 0:16Speaker 2: is Michael Bennett on this too. What is it Tuesday,
- 0:19Speaker 2: May the twelfth. I mean it's almost halfway through the month,
- 0:22Speaker 2: but I got a big show today which I'm really
- 0:24Speaker 2: looking forward to. If you want to give a call,
- 0:26Speaker 2: you can do that at five O two three eight
- 0:28Speaker 2: four fourteen fifty. If you want to text me on
- 0:31Speaker 2: the Whiskey Thief text line, you can do that at
- 0:33Speaker 2: five O two four one four fourteen fifty. Or you
- 0:36Speaker 2: can tweet me at just the Cat Radio. Justin Klein
- 0:39Speaker 2: is with me this morning, and of course we're going
- 0:42Speaker 2: to have on coach Will Stein of the University Kentucky
- 0:45Speaker 2: football team, which I'm really looking forward to, which he's
- 0:48Speaker 2: going to come on just I think in just a second.
- 0:51Speaker 3: But are we good to go? Right now? Good to go? Okay? Perfect?
- 0:54Speaker 2: Good morning, Justin. You can say good morning real quick
- 0:57Speaker 2: and then we'll go over to coach. Good morning, what's up.
- 0:59Speaker 2: I don't want to I don't want to take too much,
- 1:00Speaker 2: I know, and I appreciate that. But Coach will Stein,
- 1:04Speaker 2: it's great.
- 1:04Speaker 3: To meet you.
- 1:06Speaker 4: Great to meet you. Two. Thanks for having me on.
- 1:08Speaker 2: I appreciate you taking the time this morning. You know,
- 1:10Speaker 2: I never dreamed that the first time we would meet.
- 1:13Speaker 2: I don't know if you remember this, but it was
- 1:15Speaker 2: Oaks day, right outside the men's restroom at Churchill Downs
- 1:18Speaker 2: in the turf club, and I walk out of the
- 1:21Speaker 2: bath The best part is that at least it wasn't
- 1:24Speaker 2: at the urinal. I mean, I walk out of the
- 1:26Speaker 2: bathroom and there he is, and I'm like, I know
- 1:28Speaker 2: that guy.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Who is he?
- 1:29Speaker 2: And then all of a sudden it's like, oh my gosh,
- 1:31Speaker 2: it's Will Stein. But I don't know if you remember that,
- 1:34Speaker 2: but that was that was an unusual way to meet
- 1:36Speaker 2: each other for the first time.
- 1:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, anytime you meet outside of a men's
- 1:40Speaker 4: restroom can be a little bit awkward. But nonetheless we
- 1:43Speaker 4: met and now we're here, Yeah.
- 1:45Speaker 3: We are here.
- 1:46Speaker 2: I mean, credit to me for speaking up. I mean,
- 1:49Speaker 2: but I appreciate you taking the time this morning. Come
- 1:51Speaker 2: on for a little bit, and you know, as the
- 1:54Speaker 2: first derby as the University Kentucky football coach, is the
- 2:00Speaker 2: experience like.
- 2:01Speaker 4: For you, well, I mean I'm still figuring out. I
- 2:05Speaker 4: got a lot of friends, you know, a lot more
- 2:07Speaker 4: than I ever thought exactly. I do learn that, you know,
- 2:10Speaker 4: everybody's super excited and really supportive of Kentucky football, which
- 2:15Speaker 4: is which is awesome, you know. But no, I love
- 2:17Speaker 4: the Derby. I love Churchill Downs, love everything about it.
- 2:20Speaker 4: I've I've been going since I was a little kid. Uh.
- 2:23Speaker 4: It's quite different than what I originally experienced being in
- 2:27Speaker 4: the infield. I was kind of an infield guy my
- 2:29Speaker 4: whole life until uh, you know, more recently, when when I,
- 2:32Speaker 4: you know, get invited to these really cool spots with
- 2:35Speaker 4: all the rich people. So it's it was awesome.
- 2:38Speaker 2: I don't know if that's a cut or not, but
- 2:40Speaker 2: I appreciate. I'm I'm not one of the rich people. Okay,
- 2:43Speaker 2: I'm one of the poor people that's lucky enough.
- 2:46Speaker 3: To get up there.
- 2:46Speaker 4: Yeah you're in the turf club, but yeah, people got
- 2:49Speaker 4: some money in the turf club and to hire you
- 2:51Speaker 4: go up, you know, the more rich it becomes. But no,
- 2:54Speaker 4: everybody was awesome. Everybody was, like I said, super supportive
- 2:57Speaker 4: and welcoming, and I loved everybody another.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Well, wait, wait till you start owning horses. Then you
- 3:02Speaker 2: see that money go away quickly. Because I didn't mention
- 3:06Speaker 2: this yet, but I'll talk about a little later. One
- 3:08Speaker 2: of the horses I'm involved in is running in the
- 3:10Speaker 2: Preakness is Saturday, which I'm really looking forward to. Uh
- 3:13Speaker 2: but uh, anyway, so I'm headed to Baltimore this weekend.
- 3:16Speaker 2: But Coach, I do want to talk about just what
- 3:20Speaker 2: an amazing job we were talking about. I've mentioned it
- 3:23Speaker 2: several times. We're talking about specifically yesterday, how you have
- 3:27Speaker 2: now gone five weeks in a row signing a force
- 3:31Speaker 2: at least a four star player. I've got to know,
- 3:34Speaker 2: because you know, I loved Mark Stoops. I considered him
- 3:38Speaker 2: a friend. Of course, Vince Merrill is one of my
- 3:40Speaker 2: closest friends still. Uh but but I look at what
- 3:43Speaker 2: you doing. What is going on that so different? How
- 3:46Speaker 2: have you changed the narrative so quickly at UK?
- 3:51Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I don't think there's really any secret
- 3:54Speaker 4: where we are just building relationships. I mean, that's what
- 3:56Speaker 4: it's what it's been. We've gotten kids on campus multiple
- 3:59Speaker 4: times before they make these decisions, and they feel extremely
- 4:02Speaker 4: comfortable in our program, and they love our process and
- 4:05Speaker 4: they love the people that are in our building. So
- 4:08Speaker 4: I mean it's old school recruiting it's waking these guys
- 4:11Speaker 4: up and putting them in the bed. It's having multiple
- 4:13Speaker 4: touch points on them with different coaches and not just
- 4:16Speaker 4: the players, but the parents, the agents, the trainers, the coaches,
- 4:21Speaker 4: whoever is impactful in these players' lives. We hit and
- 4:25Speaker 4: we do it very consistently. So they love Lexington whenever
- 4:29Speaker 4: they've come on campus, you know, and again, like I said,
- 4:31Speaker 4: it's been multiple times with these players, they absolutely love it.
- 4:34Speaker 4: They love UK, they love the school, they love the facility,
- 4:38Speaker 4: and then more importantly, they love the people in our building.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Well, kind of.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Walk me through. Like I've been in sales all my life.
- 4:44Speaker 2: You're definitely in sales as well. When it comes to
- 4:47Speaker 2: meeting recruits for the first time, what is the first
- 4:50Speaker 2: thing you tried to do with a recruit? Doesn't matter
- 4:53Speaker 2: who it is, I'm sure it's the same way every time.
- 4:55Speaker 2: It's the same process every time. What's the first thing
- 4:58Speaker 2: that coach will Stein says to somebody.
- 5:02Speaker 4: Well, I mean, I think you just try to get
- 5:03Speaker 4: to know somebody, just like any conversation, just like our
- 5:06Speaker 4: conversation outside of the Journal of Churchill Die, you know,
- 5:09Speaker 4: I mean, you know, it just you get to know
- 5:11Speaker 4: people you know, like they want. They don't care how
- 5:14Speaker 4: much you know until you know how much they care, right,
- 5:16Speaker 4: I Mean, I know it's an old saying and it's cliche,
- 5:18Speaker 4: but it's true, like get to know the person first
- 5:21Speaker 4: and then learn what they want, and then go attack
- 5:26Speaker 4: it and show your plan and show why Kentucky is
- 5:29Speaker 4: the best spot for them to go be successful. So again,
- 5:32Speaker 4: it's not really secret sauce you mentioned, you know, it
- 5:34Speaker 4: is somewhat of sales, you know, in recruiting. I mean,
- 5:38Speaker 4: you could definitely compare it to that. So, but it's
- 5:42Speaker 4: not fly. I mean, it's not weird, it's not scammy.
- 5:44Speaker 4: It's real. It's authentic. It's who we are every single day,
- 5:47Speaker 4: and that's what I think people really gravitate towards there.
- 5:51Speaker 2: There have been a few of the media outlets that
- 5:53Speaker 2: are coming out in predicting that UK is going to
- 5:56Speaker 2: finish in football second to last within the SEC only
- 6:00Speaker 2: ahead of Arkansas. How do you overcome that perception? How
- 6:04Speaker 2: are you going to overcome that this year? With the
- 6:06Speaker 2: difficult schedule that you're going to face and your team's.
- 6:09Speaker 3: Going to face.
- 6:10Speaker 4: It's got a little thing called cebu f. Everybody but
- 6:13Speaker 4: I don't really care. I don't I've been picked last
- 6:17Speaker 4: in my life multiple times, so yeah, I really don't
- 6:20Speaker 4: care about what anybody else says. I just care about
- 6:23Speaker 4: my team and their ability to work and to go
- 6:26Speaker 4: play really well on Saturdays. And when we do that,
- 6:28Speaker 4: I know there's really great things ahead for this program,
- 6:31Speaker 4: for this team, in this twenty sixteen I think we've
- 6:33Speaker 4: got a lot of really good, talented players that are
- 6:36Speaker 4: bought in, that have worked harder than they've ever worked
- 6:38Speaker 4: in their entire lives at a harder spring practice than
- 6:40Speaker 4: they've ever experienced in their entire lives. To me, that
- 6:43Speaker 4: just sets us up for success on Saturday. So I
- 6:46Speaker 4: don't worry about it if I did. If I did,
- 6:48Speaker 4: there'd be I mean, I'd probably be wanting to fight everybody.
- 6:50Speaker 4: But I don't have time in the day to fight everybody,
- 6:54Speaker 4: nor am I big enough and strong enough. So I
- 6:56Speaker 4: just kind of worry about us and do what we do.
- 6:59Speaker 2: And I'm too but I'm gonna support you, so I'm
- 7:01Speaker 2: gonna be out there fighting for you. Now, let's talk
- 7:04Speaker 2: about the upcoming season and you coming back to the SEC.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Is there a particular venue that you're looking forward to
- 7:12Speaker 2: taking your team more than any other.
- 7:16Speaker 4: I mean in this league. I mean they're all awesome.
- 7:18Speaker 4: You know. Kroger Field to me is an elite home
- 7:21Speaker 4: field advances for us. I'm looking forward to Big the
- 7:23Speaker 4: Nations showing out September fifth against Youngstown State. But yeah,
- 7:28Speaker 4: I mean this league is, you know, arguably the best
- 7:31Speaker 4: league in terms of stadiums and pageantry. I mean, I
- 7:34Speaker 4: don't think there's anything like it in all of football,
- 7:37Speaker 4: you know, and so it's gonna be really cool. I
- 7:39Speaker 4: don't know if there's one in particular, but I'm more
- 7:43Speaker 4: excited about our Fancier and Kroger Field than anything else.
- 7:45Speaker 3: And I can.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Understand that because I can tell you I'm looking forward
- 7:48Speaker 2: to Tennessee. I mean anytime that Kentucky goes to Knoxville,
- 7:51Speaker 2: Tennessee and wants to beat, as I like to say,
- 7:54Speaker 2: tennis stink.
- 7:55Speaker 3: I just I want to win down there. So that's
- 7:58Speaker 3: that's probably where my answer is going to be. But
- 8:01Speaker 3: you know, you got the first sec media days coming
- 8:03Speaker 3: up for you kind of give us a taste what
- 8:05Speaker 3: you want to talk about?
- 8:06Speaker 2: What do you want to talk about to all the
- 8:08Speaker 2: sec U media members out there.
- 8:13Speaker 4: I think it's just about just our program, you know,
- 8:16Speaker 4: University of Kentucky, the the the program as a whole,
- 8:20Speaker 4: what we're doing, not just on the field alta field,
- 8:23Speaker 4: you know, showcasing our players that are gonna be coming
- 8:25Speaker 4: with me, and just you know, really just enjoying that moment.
- 8:29Speaker 4: But that'd be exciting. I'm sure there'd be a ton
- 8:32Speaker 4: of questions for me and obviously a lot of probably
- 8:35Speaker 4: similar ones that have been answering for the past four months,
- 8:37Speaker 4: five months about why Kentucky? What do you think about
- 8:41Speaker 4: the schedule? All the same questions, and you know I'll
- 8:44Speaker 4: answer them the exact same way.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Joe Sloan is, as we all know, as your offensive coordinator,
- 8:49Speaker 2: and that's one thing that you have been in charge
- 8:52Speaker 2: of a dynamic offense. You've you've mentioned that you want
- 8:56Speaker 2: to have a similar offense at Oregon and similar offense
- 8:59Speaker 2: at you. I mean, how does a head coach who
- 9:02Speaker 2: has been an offense squador in the past, who is
- 9:05Speaker 2: one of the best play callers in the country hand
- 9:08Speaker 2: that over and trust someone else with the headset on
- 9:11Speaker 2: game day?
- 9:13Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, we're all doing this together. We're game
- 9:15Speaker 4: planning all together throughout the week, we're all made. You know,
- 9:18Speaker 4: it's going to go through me the decision making process,
- 9:21Speaker 4: and Joe's going to let it rip on Saturday. So
- 9:23Speaker 4: before Joe calls any plays, we're going to know exactly
- 9:26Speaker 4: what he's going to call when he's going to call it.
- 9:28Speaker 4: So we're all on the same page. And that's been
- 9:29Speaker 4: true at any stop of my career call plays, is
- 9:33Speaker 4: that the entire staff offensively is cohesive, and the quarterback
- 9:38Speaker 4: can anticipate play calls himself while he's out there playing
- 9:41Speaker 4: on the field. So I'm excited about Joe and the
- 9:44Speaker 4: opportunity for him, and I'm excited about myself continuing to
- 9:48Speaker 4: game plan and put our offense in the best position
- 9:51Speaker 4: possible to go score points.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Is there a talk about some of the teams that
- 9:56Speaker 2: UK has played in the past that they no longer play.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Is there a series that will Stein would like to
- 10:03Speaker 2: see come back to UK and play again.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Is there a series that you would like to do?
- 10:09Speaker 4: And we got nine SEC games. We played Louisville as
- 10:12Speaker 4: our crossover. I'll keep those two G five and SUS
- 10:17Speaker 4: games as long as we can so, but I mean,
- 10:22Speaker 4: in terms of my nostalgia Kentucky football games. I mean
- 10:25Speaker 4: the Kentucky IU game that was always cool, you know,
- 10:28Speaker 4: when I was a kid, I remember Antoine Renol playing
- 10:31Speaker 4: against Kentucky. Oh yeah, those those black helmets that they
- 10:34Speaker 4: used to wear. But no, I think our schedules is
- 10:38Speaker 4: as good how it is, right.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Yeah, listen, I get it, And because you know, part
- 10:43Speaker 2: of me thinks, okay, can we drop one game and
- 10:45Speaker 2: maybe add something else? Is there a chance that you
- 10:48Speaker 2: foresee Kentucky maybe playing Oregon? I mean I know it
- 10:51Speaker 2: would be a difficult game, and I know it's outside
- 10:54Speaker 2: and you got to win as many games as you can.
- 10:56Speaker 2: But at your former school, any chance that would ever
- 10:59Speaker 2: happen down the.
- 10:59Speaker 4: Road, I seriously doubt it. Yeah, I seriously doubt it.
- 11:04Speaker 4: You know, Like, like I said, there's nine conference games
- 11:07Speaker 4: plus Louisville, So I seriously doubt they're going to add
- 11:11Speaker 4: any more challenging games for us. But you never know.
- 11:17Speaker 2: As a former U of L player, do you think
- 11:20Speaker 2: the uk U of L game deserves to be played
- 11:22Speaker 2: every year regardless of what the SEC schedule looks like?
- 11:27Speaker 4: Yeah? I mean I love the game. I mean why
- 11:29Speaker 4: would you not. It's it's the home state rival. It
- 11:31Speaker 4: gives people something to cheer about, regardless of what's happening
- 11:36Speaker 4: during the season. I mean, I used to love it
- 11:39Speaker 4: when we played it first. You know, that's what I
- 11:40Speaker 4: would do. I would move it up open early in
- 11:44Speaker 4: the season. But yeah, I mean, you got to play it.
- 11:49Speaker 4: Is it's you don't, then I think it's you know,
- 11:51Speaker 4: that'd be not good for the state of Kentucky.
- 11:54Speaker 5: As a whole coach, as someone who grew up a
- 11:57Speaker 5: Kentucky fan. And then obviously you played it Louisville. Let's
- 12:01Speaker 5: throw the cards out. Who's the one team that you're
- 12:05Speaker 5: looking forward to playing more than anybody else? If there
- 12:08Speaker 5: is a team, maybe there's not a team. Maybe the
- 12:10Speaker 5: schedule is what it is, and you're just you're ready
- 12:12Speaker 5: for the whole thing. But is there somebody that sticks
- 12:15Speaker 5: out more than others that you're just really looking forward
- 12:17Speaker 5: to playing?
- 12:19Speaker 4: Youngstown State September fifth?
- 12:22Speaker 2: He's not going to make any kind of bulletin board. Yeah,
- 12:26Speaker 2: I'm right there with you, coach.
- 12:28Speaker 4: I promised the first game. Aren't kidding me? Like, it's
- 12:31Speaker 4: the first game in this new era, this new system,
- 12:35Speaker 4: this new team, Like, how can you not be so
- 12:37Speaker 4: excited about the first game? I mean, that's what I'm
- 12:40Speaker 4: I'm gearing up towards. And honestly, right now I'm looking
- 12:43Speaker 4: at my fall camp schedule and getting that ready to roll,
- 12:46Speaker 4: and I just cannot wait for September fifth.
- 12:50Speaker 2: See, I'm right there with you, because it doesn't matter
- 12:54Speaker 2: who it is, it's that next game. Long as you
- 12:56Speaker 2: get the next game, then guess what. After that game
- 12:57Speaker 2: is over, let's go on to the next game. And
- 13:00Speaker 2: because you know, you get right into the heart of
- 13:03Speaker 2: the sec. And there's been some good friends of mine
- 13:06Speaker 2: that are already predicting Kentucky's going to beat Alabama.
- 13:09Speaker 3: And I like that.
- 13:11Speaker 2: I mean, I like the swagger that you're bringing so quickly.
- 13:15Speaker 2: And it's just absolutely amazing how quickly you've made that
- 13:19Speaker 2: swagger at UK football. It's cool again to be a
- 13:22Speaker 2: fan and a player and a coach at UK.
- 13:25Speaker 3: Am I not am I wrong about that?
- 13:29Speaker 4: I mean, I'm just being me, you know. I Mean,
- 13:31Speaker 4: everybody thinks it's like just some sort of like magic
- 13:34Speaker 4: picks he does that I'm throwing. I'm just being me.
- 13:36Speaker 4: You know. I thought I was I was gonna win
- 13:38Speaker 4: in every single game I've ever played in my life.
- 13:40Speaker 4: There's never been a game I've gone on to saying, well,
- 13:42Speaker 4: we're gonna get our asses to be right here. This
- 13:43Speaker 4: is gonna suck. Like if that's your mentalities, like don't
- 13:47Speaker 4: coach or don't play like you're a loser, go do
- 13:50Speaker 4: something else that like losers do. But like my mind
- 13:53Speaker 4: is set on winning, and how do you do that.
- 13:55Speaker 4: You have to have a great process, you have to
- 13:57Speaker 4: have great players, you have to have great coaches. Everything
- 14:00Speaker 4: got to be aligned from the top down. And that's
- 14:03Speaker 4: what I'm excited about is kind of like just the
- 14:05Speaker 4: next couple of months, and there's gonna be changes here.
- 14:08Speaker 4: Like let's call it what it is. There's gonna be
- 14:09Speaker 4: changes at Kentucky. And you know, instead of looking at
- 14:12Speaker 4: maybe you know from a first time head coach, you
- 14:14Speaker 4: get here, your ad retires, all this stuff's going on,
- 14:17Speaker 4: I just try to see it as a you know,
- 14:19Speaker 4: there's an opportunity and an opportunity to improve and get better.
- 14:22Speaker 4: And I'm looking forward to these next couple of months
- 14:25Speaker 4: and then getting in the fall camp with my guys again.
- 14:27Speaker 2: And at this point, I'm ready to raise whatever kind
- 14:29Speaker 2: of money you want. So you just tell me you
- 14:31Speaker 2: can have my phone number and I'm raising money for
- 14:33Speaker 2: what I.
- 14:34Speaker 4: Can tell you exactly where to right to check right.
- 14:36Speaker 4: I'll just remember whatever the show and you can send
- 14:39Speaker 4: me whatever money you want.
- 14:40Speaker 3: I prought that, I.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Promise my good friend JD. Shelburne. I don't know if
- 14:44Speaker 2: you've listened to any of his music, but you need to.
- 14:47Speaker 2: I know you just went to see Morgan wallin Reparina
- 14:50Speaker 2: this past weekend.
- 14:51Speaker 3: But uh, JD wanted to ask you.
- 14:53Speaker 2: As a longtime fan of the program, I see completely
- 14:56Speaker 2: different attitude online. What's been the difference maker in getting
- 14:59Speaker 2: the fans excited again. I'm really proud of what's about
- 15:03Speaker 2: to ignite at UK football. Keep what you're doing coaching.
- 15:06Speaker 2: I think you've kind of answered most of that as
- 15:09Speaker 2: far as I'm concerned.
- 15:10Speaker 4: I mean, we're just being us. Yeah, we're being us.
- 15:12Speaker 4: You know, like this is not like some act. It's
- 15:15Speaker 4: literally us. This is how whenever I get a recruit,
- 15:17Speaker 4: I like to to post stuff just to get excited,
- 15:20Speaker 4: you know, because I'm excited. You know, I'm just like
- 15:22Speaker 4: a fan, Like we get a recruit, we signed somebody,
- 15:24Speaker 4: we could commitment. I mean, I'm fired up. So I'm
- 15:27Speaker 4: trying to let the world know and get everybody excited themselves.
- 15:30Speaker 4: So I think what we're doing right now is really cool.
- 15:34Speaker 4: And obviously we have not won a game where we
- 15:36Speaker 4: have not lost a game, so there's a lot of buzz.
- 15:39Speaker 4: It's the honeymoon phase per se, but nonetheless like we're
- 15:43Speaker 4: always going to be like this, We're always going to
- 15:45Speaker 4: have this type of mentality and just attack every single
- 15:48Speaker 4: day outside.
- 15:50Speaker 2: You know, looking back, who has been your biggest football
- 15:54Speaker 2: mentor that as far as a head coach out there
- 15:57Speaker 2: and then out of football, who has been your biggest mentor?
- 16:04Speaker 4: Probably Jeff Trailer is probably my number one mentor. I
- 16:09Speaker 4: worked for him at UTSA, I worked with him at Texas. He's,
- 16:14Speaker 4: you know, somebody that I really can call on about
- 16:16Speaker 4: anything in life, not just head coaching. So Jeff would
- 16:20Speaker 4: probably be one. I mean, obviously, my last three years
- 16:23Speaker 4: with Dan, we're just incredible and he's somebody that I
- 16:25Speaker 4: really look up to and have so much respect for.
- 16:28Speaker 4: And and over these first five months or so, I
- 16:31Speaker 4: guess you have five months now that I've called Dan
- 16:34Speaker 4: multiple times on just little things that you know, you
- 16:37Speaker 4: don't really realize they're going to come up as head coach.
- 16:40Speaker 4: Nothing crazy, but just calling him and then outside of football,
- 16:45Speaker 4: I mean, shoot, my wife, Darby is definitely my number
- 16:48Speaker 4: one go to. You know, she's the rock to our
- 16:50Speaker 4: family and she is super strong and confident and just
- 16:57Speaker 4: gives me great peace of mind knowing that when I'm
- 17:01Speaker 4: at work that you know, my house and my family
- 17:03Speaker 4: is being taken care of.
- 17:05Speaker 3: I think that's a missing leak of people.
- 17:07Speaker 2: A lot of people forget you know, they look at
- 17:10Speaker 2: you and you've got this life changing job position, and
- 17:13Speaker 2: people forget about the people behind the scenes. And I
- 17:16Speaker 2: think you adding your wife there just just makes it
- 17:18Speaker 2: so heartwarming that you remember her. Because my wife is
- 17:21Speaker 2: my best friend. I'll tell you right now. My dad
- 17:23Speaker 2: was my best friend as well, and I miss him dearly.
- 17:27Speaker 2: So and you're lucky enough to have your mom and dad.
- 17:29Speaker 2: I don't know how you're not as big as I
- 17:32Speaker 2: am as far as your weight, because man's that stuff
- 17:36Speaker 2: your mom makes at her place. I will say, my
- 17:39Speaker 2: wife is like, you know how good her stuff is,
- 17:41Speaker 2: and I'm like, yes, I do. I would probably eat
- 17:44Speaker 2: it every day. So good for you for having that
- 17:46Speaker 2: will power not having that kind of stuff every single
- 17:50Speaker 2: day that your mom makes.
- 17:52Speaker 4: Yeah, they are like crack man. Whenever I do have it,
- 17:56Speaker 4: I have so much Sissy cake, so Owner's cake, and
- 18:00Speaker 4: the chipcake, all the all the flavors that they have now,
- 18:03Speaker 4: I mean, I just crush it. So yeah, I'm very,
- 18:07Speaker 4: very grateful that my mom was able to bake grow
- 18:10Speaker 4: it up for sure.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Well that's why I got to the weight I did.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Thank goodness, I've lost over fifty pounds now. But my goodness,
- 18:16Speaker 2: my wife can take as well. But I have to
- 18:19Speaker 2: say no to her now. But coach, I just want
- 18:22Speaker 2: to say welcome to Kentucky. I know everybody said it
- 18:24Speaker 2: to you, but I wanted to hear you, to hear
- 18:26Speaker 2: it from Michael Benn and I appreciate you coming on
- 18:29Speaker 2: for a few minutes with us. I hope you do
- 18:31Speaker 2: it again sometime in the near future. And when you
- 18:33Speaker 2: come to Louisville, we've got to get together, so I
- 18:36Speaker 2: would enjoy that. And welcome to UK. I am looking
- 18:40Speaker 2: so forward. I mean, this is a guy that sat
- 18:43Speaker 2: in section thirty one his entire life with his mom
- 18:47Speaker 2: and dad and his whole family, just like you did.
- 18:50Speaker 2: And it's just like football is special to me and
- 18:54Speaker 2: my family and the fact that what you're doing just
- 18:57Speaker 2: means a lot, and I really appreciate all the hard
- 19:00Speaker 2: work you're doing.
- 19:02Speaker 4: Thanks, Michael, appreciate it. Bro go Cats.
- 19:05Speaker 3: We'll talk to you later. All right.
- 19:06Speaker 2: That's coach will Stein. Youriis Kentucky football program. Really appreciate
- 19:10Speaker 2: him joining. So we're gonna take a break right now.
- 19:12Speaker 2: We got a lot to talk about today besides just
- 19:15Speaker 2: the interview we did right there. Uh, but stay right there.
- 19:18Speaker 2: If you want to join us fab two three four
- 19:20Speaker 2: fourteen fifty. You want to text us on the Whiskey
- 19:22Speaker 2: feed text line, you can do that five two four
- 19:24Speaker 2: one four fourteen fifty. You can tweet me at just
- 19:26Speaker 2: the cat radios. Stay right there. More just cats coming up,
- 19:30Speaker 2: he said, Please if I.
- 19:32Speaker 4: Got on me comments full begain no thanase got's great
- 19:46Speaker 4: man made many him. Lady, don't help me, don't hurt
- 19:59Speaker 4: me no more. No mo.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Babo two three eight four fourteen fifty. You want to
- 20:28Speaker 2: call in Bibo two four one four fourteen fifty. If
- 20:31Speaker 2: you want to text in on the whizzy th text line.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Every time I hear that song, I think a stay
- 20:35Speaker 2: night Live and that bit that Will Ferrell and one
- 20:39Speaker 2: of the other guys did they're at the bar.
- 20:41Speaker 5: Is that where they're just bobbing their heads. Yeah, that
- 20:44Speaker 5: thing because they they made a commercial out of it too.
- 20:47Speaker 5: Oh they did really want to say, for like the
- 20:48Speaker 5: super Bowl or something.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:50Speaker 2: Christan, Yeah, Chris Cantan is the other guy who's really funny.
- 20:54Speaker 2: I loved him. Uh but yeah, he did all kinds
- 20:58Speaker 2: of bits. You know, everybody would when they think of
- 21:00Speaker 2: that time frame of Saturday Night Live, they always think
- 21:05Speaker 2: of Will Ferrell, but there are a lot of other
- 21:07Speaker 2: guys that were equally Darryl Hammond I thought was always
- 21:10Speaker 2: really funny, Chris Catan, Rachel Dratch who was absolutely one
- 21:14Speaker 2: of my favorites. She did that Debbie Downer stuff which
- 21:17Speaker 2: was hilarious, but yeah, I loved her. Let me get
- 21:20Speaker 2: to a couple of texts here. Josh texted out, hopefully
- 21:23Speaker 2: you all did didn't shake hands during the meeting at
- 21:26Speaker 2: the Yurinal left out loud?
- 21:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought that was a really funny way to start.
- 21:35Speaker 2: And the sad part about it, you know, the first
- 21:38Speaker 2: time I interviewed Mark Stoops was the first time I
- 21:42Speaker 2: had ever interviewed any high profile coach, didn't matter basketball, football, anything.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Mark Soops was the first and it was on I Believe,
- 21:51Speaker 2: my very first show I had ever done, Whoa Back
- 21:54Speaker 2: at iHeart And yeah, it was the very first show
- 21:58Speaker 2: I had Mark Soups on and uh uh for some reason,
- 22:02Speaker 2: my brain goes weird. And I said, would you be
- 22:06Speaker 2: my best friend? And I was kidding and he takes
- 22:11Speaker 2: this the question. So, oh, Michael, I've had friends since
- 22:15Speaker 2: I was third fourth grade and he never let me
- 22:19Speaker 2: live it down. Every time he'd see me, Michael, I'm
- 22:22Speaker 2: not going to be your best friend. I'm not gonna
- 22:24Speaker 2: every I mean every time. But I thought that, and
- 22:28Speaker 2: now with will Stein, every time he sees me, he's
- 22:31Speaker 2: gonna think, yeah, there's the bathroom boy. It's like, that's
- 22:33Speaker 2: what I'm worried about.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Yeah, it just all right. So I do have to
- 22:38Speaker 3: say this, what what?
- 22:40Speaker 4: What?
- 22:40Speaker 3: What was it that he said?
- 22:41Speaker 2: Phoebu febo? Okay, God, that was awesome. I haven't heard
- 22:47Speaker 2: him say that. I will literally say that the rest
- 22:50Speaker 2: of all life. I'm right there with you, feebu. I mean,
- 22:53Speaker 2: what a way and that that is just the absolute
- 22:56Speaker 2: epic way of saying something you want to say that
- 22:59Speaker 2: you can't say.
- 23:00Speaker 5: I can see you like driving down the road, yes,
- 23:04Speaker 5: with your with your wife and somebody like cut you
- 23:07Speaker 5: off and she gets real mad.
- 23:08Speaker 3: You just look at her and you look and you
- 23:10Speaker 3: just go, yeah, what Yeah, he's so calm right now?
- 23:14Speaker 3: Blank everybody but us, see. I think that would make
- 23:21Speaker 3: the greatest Just the Cat's T shirt in the world, okay,
- 23:24Speaker 3: because that's kind of how I feel. I've always felt.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Now, there are a number of UK media that's very
- 23:30Speaker 2: nice to me, mainly like Nick Rausch extremely nice. TJ
- 23:35Speaker 2: Walker extremely nice. Then there are a number of them
- 23:38Speaker 2: out there that just dislike me for whatever reason.
- 23:41Speaker 3: I don't know why.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Maybe because I take this job and I don't take
- 23:44Speaker 2: it too seriously because it's fun. But that's that, to me,
- 23:48Speaker 2: is the greatest just the Cat's T shirt right there.
- 23:50Speaker 2: If somebody wants to make me a just the Cat's
- 23:52Speaker 2: T shirt with Foebu signed will Stein, I think it
- 23:56Speaker 2: would be fantastic because what he he just said there
- 24:01Speaker 2: blew my mind. I mean, I could not concentrate on
- 24:04Speaker 2: anything else until because I couldn't wait till we were done,
- 24:08Speaker 2: and you came over here and we talked about because
- 24:10Speaker 2: I knew you to come running over here, and the
- 24:11Speaker 2: first thing out of your mouth was going to be feeboo. Yeah,
- 24:14Speaker 2: I knew we would love that that was there. So
- 24:17Speaker 2: there were three things that stuck out. All right, I'm ready.
- 24:19Speaker 2: What are the three things? That was obviously one of them. Yes,
- 24:22Speaker 2: the fact that he said his wife's name is Darby. Yeah, awesome.
- 24:28Speaker 3: I've I've definitely heard that name in the past, but
- 24:31Speaker 3: it is not at all a common name. So I
- 24:34Speaker 3: love that name.
- 24:35Speaker 2: I was blown away that his wife is named Darby.
- 24:38Speaker 2: I know, in all of a sudden, you're talking in
- 24:39Speaker 2: your British accent. Please don't do that. I mean, come on, stop, No,
- 24:43Speaker 2: it's just like Chief Wallaby every time we heard Chief Wallaby,
- 24:47Speaker 2: you do you're so called a Australian accent.
- 24:51Speaker 3: You're killing me.
- 24:52Speaker 5: And then the last thing that stuck out, Yes, and
- 24:56Speaker 5: I wanted to bring I wanted to say something, but
- 24:58Speaker 5: I decided to just just keep it quiet. Yeah, but
- 25:01Speaker 5: when he brought up potentially bringing back the Indiana series, Look,
- 25:07Speaker 5: I hope more than anything that he gets Kentucky football
- 25:12Speaker 5: back to a position where Indiana and Kentucky could play
- 25:18Speaker 5: again and it would be a competitive game, because right
- 25:21Speaker 5: now he doesn't want that smoke but give it to
- 25:24Speaker 5: him in three four years when he's got this Kentucky
- 25:26Speaker 5: football program rolling. I think that could be a lot
- 25:29Speaker 5: of fun.
- 25:32Speaker 2: The part that probably stuck out with me the most
- 25:35Speaker 2: is the fact that he was just I felt like
- 25:40Speaker 2: he was relaxed, sincere and just kind of talking to
- 25:45Speaker 2: some guys.
- 25:47Speaker 3: At a bar.
- 25:48Speaker 2: That's kind of how I feel talking to him. I
- 25:51Speaker 2: feel like we're just hanging out there having a beer
- 25:54Speaker 2: and just talking. You would never know he's the head
- 25:57Speaker 2: coach of a major Division I program.
- 25:58Speaker 3: You'd never know that.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Uh, you know, the dude's making all kinds of money
- 26:03Speaker 2: and you'd never know anything about that. So I just
- 26:06Speaker 2: kind of felt like justin it was just the three
- 26:08Speaker 2: of us having a casual conversation at a bar.
- 26:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:12Speaker 5: I mean he's he is very approachable, is what I approachable.
- 26:17Speaker 5: He's very likable. I mean you talk to somebody like
- 26:20Speaker 5: him and he you kind of feel like he's one
- 26:23Speaker 5: of you all, you know, So that that was the
- 26:26Speaker 5: cool part.
- 26:26Speaker 2: That's the part I like exactly because he didn't know
- 26:29Speaker 2: me at all other than the two minutes that you know,
- 26:33Speaker 2: we were coming out of which was I know, it
- 26:35Speaker 2: was weird. He kind of gave me a look. It's like,
- 26:37Speaker 2: who is this guy? And I don't blame him forgiving
- 26:40Speaker 2: me that look, but you know, I mean, how can
- 26:43Speaker 2: I pass by and not say a word to him?
- 26:45Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 26:45Speaker 2: No, you had, seriously you had. I mean everybody I
- 26:48Speaker 2: see like like like with Jason Worth. How could I
- 26:52Speaker 2: pass by Jason Worth and not say anything to Jason Worth?
- 26:56Speaker 2: And now Jason I've been texting like every other day talk.
- 27:00Speaker 2: He loves talking about horses and I love razing him
- 27:04Speaker 2: because he about killing my rays. But you know, he
- 27:07Speaker 2: had another huge win at the racetrack at Churchill Down's Saturday.
- 27:12Speaker 2: He wanted two hundred thousand dollars races. Yeah, Kurchell, he said, Michael,
- 27:16Speaker 2: did you see he calls me Mike, Mike, did you
- 27:18Speaker 2: see the win?
- 27:19Speaker 3: And I'm like, yes, I saw your big mug on
- 27:21Speaker 3: the big screen. You jerk.
- 27:23Speaker 2: You just let him call you Mike because you're scared
- 27:24Speaker 2: of him. Oh listen, he can call me anything he
- 27:29Speaker 2: wants to. Yeah, I am, I'm not necessarily scared of him.
- 27:31Speaker 2: I just don't want to tick him off. Guys, that dude,
- 27:34Speaker 2: you know he admitted to you he's done or was
- 27:37Speaker 2: it TJ. He's done some bad stuff in the past,
- 27:40Speaker 2: and I don't want him to do bad stuff right now. Okay,
- 27:43Speaker 2: but no, look at I look at will Stein. I think, man,
- 27:47Speaker 2: that's a guy that's probably never done any bad stuff
- 27:49Speaker 2: because he doesn't have to. He certain people have certain auras,
- 27:54Speaker 2: and I think will Stein has that kind of positive
- 27:56Speaker 2: aura that you just are attracted too. Okay, I agree
- 28:01Speaker 2: with Does that make sense? Yeah, all right, let's go
- 28:03Speaker 2: to the phone lines five O two three, eight, four
- 28:05Speaker 2: fourteen fifty.
- 28:06Speaker 3: John, you're up. What's going on?
- 28:09Speaker 6: Hey, what a great interview that you did, Michael.
- 28:11Speaker 3: I appreciate that. Yeah, it's funny, I will I'll talk
- 28:15Speaker 3: about it, man, But go ahead, John, I apologize.
- 28:18Speaker 6: No, no, no, I thought it was a great interview, man.
- 28:21Speaker 6: And I tell you what coach Stein's enthusiasm like getting
- 28:27Speaker 6: his recruits what they do post online and all of
- 28:30Speaker 6: us playing and following along and just go along with it.
- 28:34Speaker 6: It just transitioned over to that interview. You can tell
- 28:37Speaker 6: how genuine was He tried to, you know, get some
- 28:39Speaker 6: laughter in there. I think he cut you some slack
- 28:42Speaker 6: on the bathroom thing, you know, But.
- 28:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I hope he did. But I think he's never
- 28:50Speaker 3: gonna let me live that down.
- 28:53Speaker 4: Uh yeah no.
- 28:54Speaker 6: But you know what, if I've seen someone at the
- 28:56Speaker 6: I don't care if it's at yourn. If I've seen
- 28:58Speaker 6: you know, like I don't know, Aaron Judge or something,
- 29:01Speaker 6: I'm going to say hello to him. That dude looks
- 29:03Speaker 6: like a cartoon character as big as he is.
- 29:05Speaker 1: But you know, so.
- 29:08Speaker 6: You get a chance to meet people, especially someone that's
- 29:11Speaker 6: important to our sports programs here at Kentucky. And the
- 29:15Speaker 6: line that you're in, Michael, that you did the right thing.
- 29:18Speaker 6: You don't pass up at opportunities at least physically introduce yourself.
- 29:22Speaker 6: So no matter where you're at, I think you did
- 29:23Speaker 6: the right thing. But I had I think this year,
- 29:29Speaker 6: I think some tides are changing and we're going to
- 29:32Speaker 6: see some movement in women's program for basketball. We're also
- 29:36Speaker 6: going to see what can happen with coach Pope. I
- 29:39Speaker 6: think it's starting to move a little bit. I like
- 29:41Speaker 6: all the videos he's been doing lately. I like the
- 29:43Speaker 6: answers he's been giving. Coach Stein has got something positive
- 29:46Speaker 6: going on. Look, maybe this is actually going to be
- 29:49Speaker 6: a way better year than what we thought a month ago.
- 29:51Speaker 6: You know, for a lot of stuff. So let's just
- 29:55Speaker 6: keep this momentum going. I had one other thing today.
- 29:57Speaker 6: I want to tell you guys about I am going
- 29:59Speaker 6: to I remember a few months ago I told you guys,
- 30:04Speaker 6: and it doesn't matter. It's my little bowling league here
- 30:06Speaker 6: in Evansville. But we bowled for the first half championship
- 30:10Speaker 6: and we won it. And now tonight we played the
- 30:13Speaker 6: second half champion for the overall championship in the league.
- 30:17Speaker 6: And I'm nervous, boys, I'm nervous.
- 30:21Speaker 3: I listen, John, thank you for the phone call. I
- 30:23Speaker 3: appreciate that. But don't be nervous.
- 30:25Speaker 2: You just get out there. It's all about having fun.
- 30:27Speaker 2: Have you a little beer and then you'll relax. And
- 30:30Speaker 2: it's all about having fun. If you're not having fun,
- 30:32Speaker 2: then don't do.
- 30:33Speaker 3: It at all. And put the bumpers up. Haven't put
- 30:35Speaker 3: the bumpers. Oh, there you go. That'll do it. I'm
- 30:38Speaker 3: a I gotta have the bumpers. Really terrible, You do
- 30:41Speaker 3: you any good? I listen.
- 30:45Speaker 2: The last time I bowled was in Orlando, Florida, at
- 30:49Speaker 2: this place, and I accidentally went too far past the
- 30:53Speaker 2: lane and and I slipped and literally fell on my head.
- 30:57Speaker 2: And the first thing out of my mouth was I'm
- 31:00Speaker 2: dying laughing. I'm not I'm not cussing. I'm not scared.
- 31:04Speaker 2: And this lady came running over to me, I mean
- 31:07Speaker 2: came put her hand behind my head, and I'm like, uh,
- 31:12Speaker 2: you're not, Patricia.
- 31:13Speaker 3: It was weird. I mean, she literally came over.
- 31:17Speaker 2: There said sir, are you okay? I mean, put her
- 31:19Speaker 2: arm hand on my head and her other arm around
- 31:22Speaker 2: me and my wife, you know, casually walked over. It's like,
- 31:27Speaker 2: thanks for coming quickly. This lady I don't even know
- 31:30Speaker 2: came over to help me. It was kind of weird
- 31:32Speaker 2: that this lady did that, but you know, I very
- 31:34Speaker 2: much appreciated she was concerned. But uh yeah, almost to
- 31:39Speaker 2: the point where it felt flirtatious. You know, I still
- 31:42Speaker 2: got a swagger, come.
- 31:43Speaker 3: On, I do. But yeah, that's the last time I played.
- 31:48Speaker 3: I used to be pretty good, but I didn't play enough.
- 31:51Speaker 3: I just liked.
- 31:51Speaker 2: I don't know, I think bowling's fun. Is that one
- 31:55Speaker 2: of those games that you know people don't play enough of.
- 31:58Speaker 2: I haven't played pickleball yet.
- 32:00Speaker 3: I haven't either.
- 32:01Speaker 2: Yeah, And you know, when will Stein was saying, because
- 32:04Speaker 2: he had the one thing that stuck out to me,
- 32:06Speaker 2: besides the bathroom stuff, is that he said he's competitive,
- 32:11Speaker 2: and I'm very much the same way. I don't care
- 32:14Speaker 2: if I'm good or bad at it. I want to
- 32:18Speaker 2: think in my head I can win the game.
- 32:20Speaker 3: I always do.
- 32:21Speaker 2: See I'm not really Just like I had never played
- 32:24Speaker 2: darts before. My youngest son had played darts a bunch
- 32:27Speaker 2: of times, and I told her I'm going to beat you,
- 32:30Speaker 2: and I turned around and beat him. It ticked him
- 32:32Speaker 2: off so much, And nothing makes me happier than upsetting
- 32:35Speaker 2: my boys.
- 32:36Speaker 5: It's funny because this was actually brought up on the
- 32:38Speaker 5: golf trip I went on a couple of weeks ago.
- 32:41Speaker 5: My family, the Kaitlin's in general, are stupid competitive. They
- 32:45Speaker 5: all want to win everything they play. Yes, they there's
- 32:48Speaker 5: a running joke that they they race to see who
- 32:51Speaker 5: can finish peeing first. Like they're they're that competitive. My gosh, well,
- 32:56Speaker 5: I kind of feel like I don't. I kind of
- 32:58Speaker 5: at times feel like I'm not part of the fan
- 33:00Speaker 5: because I'm.
- 33:00Speaker 3: Not like that. Are you not? Really? I could care?
- 33:03Speaker 4: Oh?
- 33:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I couldn't care. Oh my dad would give me
- 33:06Speaker 2: a hard way to go. I'm gonna beat you at this,
- 33:08Speaker 2: I'm gonna make this shot. I'm gonna whatever we were doing,
- 33:11Speaker 2: he would want to beat me, and uh, I mean,
- 33:14Speaker 2: and that's how I got those competitive juices. My boys
- 33:17Speaker 2: are the exact same way. I'll never forget the first
- 33:19Speaker 2: time my oldest son, Max beat me at golf. He
- 33:22Speaker 2: just kind of quietly had a little grin as he
- 33:25Speaker 2: walked off the green, and I'm like, that's a proud
- 33:27Speaker 2: dad right there.
- 33:28Speaker 3: I was so happy.
- 33:30Speaker 2: Well, I wasn't happy at the time, but later on
- 33:32Speaker 2: that night I settled down. It's like, you know, that
- 33:34Speaker 2: was a fun moment for him, beating his dad in
- 33:36Speaker 2: golf at the first for the first time. Because Max
- 33:38Speaker 2: is really really good at golf.
- 33:42Speaker 3: I just wish I cared. I will.
- 33:45Speaker 5: Yeah, but when I if I'm playing a game, I'm
- 33:47Speaker 5: there to have fun. I don't really care about winning.
- 33:50Speaker 3: One person.
- 33:50Speaker 2: Texas kN will Stein, please drop off a recruiting power
- 33:53Speaker 2: point to the Craft Center.
- 33:54Speaker 3: Oh you know I saw that during the interview. It's like,
- 33:59Speaker 3: I can't read that. You can't.
- 34:00Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, we're not starting the football versus basketball school already.
- 34:04Speaker 2: Yeah, And you know the thing about it. After I
- 34:07Speaker 2: was done, you walked over here, and I'm like, I
- 34:09Speaker 2: felt like I did a bad job. It's really nice
- 34:13Speaker 2: of John to Collins said you did a nice job, Michael,
- 34:16Speaker 2: but I felt like I just did a horrible job.
- 34:18Speaker 2: I did the best I could. Okay, I don't know
- 34:20Speaker 2: why I was excited about this. I really was talking
- 34:23Speaker 2: to will Stein, so it was fine.
- 34:25Speaker 3: See, there you go. When somebody says you did a
- 34:27Speaker 3: fine job, that means you didn't. I may not have
- 34:29Speaker 3: to go back and listen if you want me to. Really, no,
- 34:32Speaker 3: I don't want you to. I'm not gonna listen to
- 34:34Speaker 3: it either, So don't worry about what. Really No, I
- 34:36Speaker 3: will not. You won't go back and listen to that. No,
- 34:39Speaker 3: that's crazy.
- 34:40Speaker 2: It'll be cringey to me for me to go back
- 34:43Speaker 2: and listen to myself anytime I have to. Like I
- 34:46Speaker 2: told you, at the old radio station, they sat me
- 34:48Speaker 2: down every month, Michael, let's go through how you're doing
- 34:51Speaker 2: on the radio. I cringed and did anything I could
- 34:55Speaker 2: but to listen to my.
- 34:56Speaker 3: Yeah, but how are you gonna get better for the
- 34:57Speaker 3: next big I don't want to. You don't go back
- 34:59Speaker 3: and listen. Yeah, I just I wanted to be me
- 35:02Speaker 3: in a conversation. That's it. Well, then it was a
- 35:05Speaker 3: great interview. If that's what you want, then there was
- 35:07Speaker 3: a great really yeah, okay, whatever I see. I don't
- 35:11Speaker 3: say something like that when you really don't mean it.
- 35:13Speaker 3: I do mean it. Okay, good, all right. If that
- 35:15Speaker 3: was your goal to make it a conversation and be you,
- 35:17Speaker 3: then it was good. John here, even though he just
- 35:20Speaker 3: called should I read his text? Wow?
- 35:23Speaker 2: Coach Stein seems like a cool guy online with recruits,
- 35:26Speaker 2: and he was very funny in your interview with you.
- 35:28Speaker 3: Michael.
- 35:28Speaker 2: I hope all sports do great coming up for the
- 35:32Speaker 2: Universus Kentucky. Hey, the Night of the Roxbury was one
- 35:36Speaker 2: of the was a movie, a funny movie they made
- 35:39Speaker 2: out of the SNL skit and song.
- 35:42Speaker 3: I didn't know that. Yeah, I came from the Night
- 35:43Speaker 3: at the Rocksbury. Who el was?
- 35:45Speaker 4: So?
- 35:45Speaker 3: Will Farrell was in that? Chris Gatan, I don't think
- 35:49Speaker 3: he was in that?
- 35:50Speaker 4: Oh?
- 35:50Speaker 3: Will Ferrell was not in it?
- 35:52Speaker 2: No, I don't think so. Really, Okay, you'll have to
- 35:54Speaker 2: look that up. So you don't have to look it
- 35:56Speaker 2: up now. Just tell us when we come back. Oh
- 35:58Speaker 2: he wasn't that, Oh he was? Who realized Chris Catan,
- 36:01Speaker 2: will Fair and who else? Uh you got Molly Shannon,
- 36:04Speaker 2: Jennifer Coolidge.
- 36:07Speaker 3: That's enough.
- 36:08Speaker 2: Yeah, you don't really know anybody else. Yeah, I know
- 36:10Speaker 2: Molly Shannon, and I know, uh, Jennifer Coolidge. I love
- 36:13Speaker 2: Jennifer Coolidge. She's one although out there. What I don't anymore?
- 36:17Speaker 2: Why I get her off my TV with these dang
- 36:20Speaker 2: Discover commercials?
- 36:21Speaker 3: Oh? Is it too much? It's just entirely too much. Yeah.
- 36:24Speaker 2: I'm kind of the same way with the young lady
- 36:28Speaker 2: that does the IBM credit card commercials, Jennifer Something. She
- 36:32Speaker 2: used to be married to Ben Affleck. I don't she's
- 36:35Speaker 2: too much Jennifer Garner, that's her name. Yes, too much
- 36:38Speaker 2: for me? Yeah, yeah, because I can if we play
- 36:41Speaker 2: the game, if she hot or not, and I would say,
- 36:44Speaker 2: nah what Yeah, sorry, I know that's a crazy way say.
- 36:48Speaker 3: Well, I can't say what I was gonna say now. Yeah,
- 36:50Speaker 3: please don't please don't just use the will Stein version. Okay,
- 36:54Speaker 3: we will use that forever now. And I'm telling you,
- 36:57Speaker 3: whoever owns a T shirt company, please contact me. I
- 37:00Speaker 3: want to adjust the cats will Stein says, and I
- 37:03Speaker 3: love that. Fobu we can say that all we want
- 37:07Speaker 3: we can. Yeah, you make fun of me. Guess what
- 37:09Speaker 3: you get online and make fun of me today. You're
- 37:11Speaker 3: going to get a phoebu. That's the greatest thing. All right,
- 37:14Speaker 3: take a break. We got a lot more. Stay right there.
- 37:17Speaker 3: This is just the cats. Lady, no more lady, no
- 37:32Speaker 3: more one. Yeah, I have no idea who is who
- 38:01Speaker 3: is it? Well?
- 38:02Speaker 4: Death?
- 38:03Speaker 2: Okay, this is kind of nice. You know the music
- 38:07Speaker 2: that he likes, Will Stein. I sent it to you yesterday.
- 38:11Speaker 2: Did I don't know who two of these three people are.
- 38:15Speaker 3: I am in the exact same boat. Oh, you are correct,
- 38:17Speaker 3: all right.
- 38:18Speaker 2: So Morgan Wallen, we both know he went and saw them.
- 38:21Speaker 2: There was some pictures online of him and his and
- 38:23Speaker 2: his wife at the concert at Reparina. I don't know,
- 38:29Speaker 2: but but I was kind of disappointed they didn't invite
- 38:31Speaker 2: him on stage. You know, Morgan Wallen is inviting all
- 38:34Speaker 2: these people up there, but he didn't want to invite any.
- 38:36Speaker 3: UK people up there. Always sure that was this weekend.
- 38:42Speaker 2: Well, maybe it was before. I don't know when it
- 38:44Speaker 2: was this week Okay, Well whatever, I don't keep up
- 38:49Speaker 2: with every minute of Morgan Wallen. Okay, three eleven? Have
- 38:54Speaker 2: you ever heard of three eleven?
- 38:56Speaker 4: You know what?
- 38:56Speaker 3: I have heard of? Three? Have you really? I said
- 38:59Speaker 3: that I hadn't, but yeah. And then the other one
- 39:02Speaker 3: was Revolution are e like Rebel, and then Lucian Revolution.
- 39:09Speaker 2: That's a cool name. I don't know that I really
- 39:12Speaker 2: like that name of a band. We might have to
- 39:14Speaker 2: play some Revolution today just to see what kind of
- 39:17Speaker 2: music they are. But three eleven in Revolution, man, I'm
- 39:21Speaker 2: already a fan of Revolution. I've never heard their music.
- 39:24Speaker 5: I'm just surprised. I don't know or I didn't know
- 39:27Speaker 5: two of the three when he's basically the same age
- 39:29Speaker 5: as man.
- 39:30Speaker 2: Let me ask you this Boise State. Did you see
- 39:35Speaker 2: where they're taking out their field and replacing it with
- 39:38Speaker 2: another one, and they're taking the I don't know, they're
- 39:43Speaker 2: taking the field and they're selling it to make money
- 39:46Speaker 2: for the nil Would you buy a piece of field
- 39:49Speaker 2: from Boise State if you were a Boise State fan?
- 39:52Speaker 3: If I was a Boise State fan, absolutely so? What
- 39:54Speaker 3: I it's got.
- 39:56Speaker 2: I wouldn't call it the most iconic field out there,
- 40:00Speaker 2: but it is probably the most What recognizable is what
- 40:05Speaker 2: I would refer to.
- 40:06Speaker 3: What would you consider the most iconic?
- 40:10Speaker 6: Man?
- 40:11Speaker 3: Because for me, it's Boise checks all those boxes, does
- 40:15Speaker 3: it really? It's you would call it iconic, yeah, because
- 40:18Speaker 3: it's interesting.
- 40:19Speaker 5: It's not like they started this five or six years ago,
- 40:22Speaker 5: like like Coachtate Carolina they have a teal green or
- 40:26Speaker 5: teal blue, which I love, whatever color it is. Yes,
- 40:29Speaker 5: they started that, what three four years ago?
- 40:31Speaker 3: Correct? Boise has been like that for as long as
- 40:34Speaker 3: I can remember.
- 40:35Speaker 2: So you do, icon it is the one It is
- 40:38Speaker 2: the one field that's the most recognizable. As soon as
- 40:41Speaker 2: you see a blue field, you know exactly it is
- 40:44Speaker 2: Boise State.
- 40:45Speaker 3: I just I don't know.
- 40:46Speaker 2: To me, iconic would have to mean more of a
- 40:49Speaker 2: winning tradition. Now they have winning tradition, but I don't
- 40:51Speaker 2: think it's They don't have national championships, and I think
- 40:55Speaker 2: iconic kind of goes with national championships.
- 40:59Speaker 3: They waltamed in hand.
- 41:00Speaker 5: In my opinion, there's no there's no football fields that
- 41:04Speaker 5: I consider iconic. There's football stadiums, there's football schools that
- 41:09Speaker 5: I consider iconic. Okay, outside of Boise State, there's not
- 41:12Speaker 5: a field that's fair enough. I'm right there with you.
- 41:17Speaker 5: Then you I'm gonna pull with Justin Kaylen. I'm going
- 41:19Speaker 5: to agree with that, and you're so easy to flip
- 41:21Speaker 5: your mind. Yeah, well, because you and I are just alike. Okay,
- 41:24Speaker 5: so shut up.
- 41:25Speaker 3: But all right, most iconic football stadium out there, to me,
- 41:28Speaker 3: it's probably, uh, in my genre, in my age bracket,
- 41:33Speaker 3: it's probably Legion Field in Birmingham, where Alabama played most
- 41:39Speaker 3: of their games.
- 41:40Speaker 2: It wasn't Tuscaloosa. Most of the games were played in Alabama.
- 41:43Speaker 2: So when I remember growing up and Keith Jackson was
- 41:46Speaker 2: on the call for the game of the week on TV,
- 41:50Speaker 2: it was always in Alabama. It was always one of
- 41:53Speaker 2: those games. Those are the games I remember the most.
- 41:55Speaker 2: I would love to say it was Commonwealth Stadium, but
- 41:58Speaker 2: it's not. I mean I would I'm hoping will Stein
- 42:01Speaker 2: can change that that. You know, take where Mark Stoops
- 42:05Speaker 2: was five years ago and boom, let's just forget the
- 42:09Speaker 2: last three or four or five years and then now
- 42:11Speaker 2: we're back on track again and we have those days
- 42:14Speaker 2: where LSU number one comes to town and UK beats them,
- 42:17Speaker 2: Alabama number you know, one of the top football programs
- 42:21Speaker 2: of the country comes to town and UK beats them.
- 42:23Speaker 3: And it's just those were great. Member, Those are the
- 42:26Speaker 3: two games I remember the most.
- 42:28Speaker 5: Isn't it weird that a bunch of BBN has similar
- 42:32Speaker 5: mindset to you, that hey, this this is a guy
- 42:36Speaker 5: that could come in and turn this program into something special,
- 42:40Speaker 5: even though he's never been a head coach.
- 42:42Speaker 3: I know, yeah, wild, yeah it is.
- 42:45Speaker 2: I mean I look back at this as the excitement
- 42:49Speaker 2: of when how Mummy came to Kentucky. There was so
- 42:52Speaker 2: much excitement surrounding when Mommy came to Lexington and was
- 42:57Speaker 2: named the coach, and you know, he was kind of
- 42:59Speaker 2: a a Spurrier type coach. You know, he loved that offense.
- 43:04Speaker 2: And that's kind of how I feel with will Stein.
- 43:06Speaker 2: I mean, you have a defensive coach. Yeah, you win games,
- 43:10Speaker 2: but the offense is somewhat stagnant, and I'm so excited
- 43:14Speaker 2: to see and hopefully an offense that's going to be exciting.
- 43:18Speaker 2: Even when how Mommy was losing games, people stayed to
- 43:22Speaker 2: watch that team play. It didn't matter how bad they
- 43:25Speaker 2: were getting beat. UK fans wanted to see that team play.
- 43:28Speaker 2: And I'm hoping that's what's going to be this season,
- 43:30Speaker 2: is that maybe we get some upsets. But I mean,
- 43:33Speaker 2: come on, let's be real. I'm not being Michael Bennett
- 43:38Speaker 2: down on the football team. I'm being Michael Bennett realistic.
- 43:41Speaker 2: Let's be realistic.
- 43:43Speaker 3: About this team.
- 43:43Speaker 2: If we could get to five wins, I'm really happy
- 43:48Speaker 2: we can get the six wins. I'm ecstatic if somehow,
- 43:52Speaker 2: some way Kentucky can get the seven wins. I mean,
- 43:55Speaker 2: this is national championship vibes for me. It just is.
- 43:59Speaker 2: I mean, you know it's not going to be a
- 44:00Speaker 2: national championship team, but to turn it around and have
- 44:04Speaker 2: the schedule that they do, and to do it with
- 44:06Speaker 2: will Stein, who has I mean I look at him
- 44:10Speaker 2: and think, man, you sound like Clark Lee. Clark Lee
- 44:13Speaker 2: at Vanderbilt has changed how people perceive Vanderbilt University in football.
- 44:19Speaker 5: I mean, they flipped a five star quarterback from job
- 44:22Speaker 5: Jay exactly. And that's I think that's why people are
- 44:25Speaker 5: so hopeful for will Stein is because you can see
- 44:28Speaker 5: him on a similar trajectory. I mean, even just the
- 44:31Speaker 5: way he's recruited since coming on to campus has been incredible.
- 44:35Speaker 5: I mean we talked about it yesterday. He brought it
- 44:37Speaker 5: up with him like they're continuing to just get big
- 44:40Speaker 5: time recruit after big time recruit, and that's giving people
- 44:43Speaker 5: some hope and that makes it a lot more fun.
- 44:45Speaker 2: One person texted in Michael flirting like Buster Keaton out
- 44:49Speaker 2: there at bowling Alley's.
- 44:51Speaker 3: No, I'm not. I wasn't flirting with anybody. The way
- 44:54Speaker 3: to know how old you are she was flirting with you.
- 44:56Speaker 3: She was fighting with me. I mean she put her
- 44:58Speaker 3: hand behind my head, she put her other hand arm
- 45:03Speaker 3: around me.
- 45:03Speaker 2: It's like, this is weird. And then my wife just
- 45:06Speaker 2: casually comes over the hey you okay, okay, came on,
- 45:09Speaker 2: we get up. It was just it was just kind
- 45:12Speaker 2: of weird. The way to know how old you are
- 45:15Speaker 2: in the minds of people is to fall. If they laugh,
- 45:19Speaker 2: then you know they see you as young. If they
- 45:22Speaker 2: rush over with concern and try to perform first aid
- 45:25Speaker 2: on you, then they believe you need uh start carrying
- 45:29Speaker 2: the life Alert medallion around your neck.
- 45:33Speaker 3: Face a lot. No, I just I was laughing. I
- 45:38Speaker 3: literally the first thing came out of my mouth. I'm
- 45:40Speaker 3: dying laughing at myself. Oh, just because you're laughing doesn't
- 45:43Speaker 3: mean everybody else is gonna be okay. Well that sucks.
- 45:46Speaker 3: I hate to hear that. So what are you looking at?
- 45:48Speaker 2: By the way, Twitter, I give up with this show,
- 45:56Speaker 2: you know, I try to do a professional show. We're
- 45:58Speaker 2: on YouTube. People are looking at you trying to figure
- 46:01Speaker 2: out what you're doing as well.
- 46:02Speaker 3: Am I participating in the show?
- 46:05Speaker 2: Yes and no, you're halfway participating in the show, particularly
- 46:09Speaker 2: you are halfway.
- 46:10Speaker 3: Do you think Boise State will make a lot of
- 46:12Speaker 3: money off of this? They should? I would think so, yeah.
- 46:19Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know.
- 46:19Speaker 5: I don't if I'm again, if I'm a Bois fan,
- 46:22Speaker 5: I'm buying a piece. Uh, now, the price point is
- 46:25Speaker 5: gonna be important.
- 46:27Speaker 2: What do you think about that Missouri standout running back
- 46:29Speaker 2: shot at a concert in Mississippi?
- 46:33Speaker 3: I'm odd how do you pronounce it? Am odd heart hardy.
- 46:36Speaker 2: I think he's gonna be okay though, I mean, well, yeah,
- 46:39Speaker 2: but I mean he he was out for a little bit,
- 46:41Speaker 2: so uh he finished last year's second in the country
- 46:45Speaker 2: and rushing yards and now you got this going on.
- 46:48Speaker 2: I really felt bad for him. I feel I felt
- 46:51Speaker 2: bad for Eli Drinkwitz for the first time. Okay, maybe
- 46:55Speaker 2: not him, but I do the football program. I mean,
- 46:57Speaker 2: that's that's a terrible situation. Hopefully he does get better,
- 47:01Speaker 2: and man, there's nothing to joke about that. I just
- 47:04Speaker 2: what's going on? I just wish people would, as Rodney
- 47:08Speaker 2: King said, why can't we all just get along? Yeah,
- 47:11Speaker 2: that's all he said, so and he is right, and
- 47:14Speaker 2: that's still true.
- 47:15Speaker 3: To this day.
- 47:15Speaker 2: I hated that, but all right, it's Tuesday. We're gonna
- 47:18Speaker 2: take a break right now. Our two coming up. Stay
- 47:21Speaker 2: right there.
- 47:22Speaker 3: More Just the Cats, one more time, one more time.
- 47:33Speaker 1: I welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 47:46Speaker 3: The studios in disarray over here.
- 47:47Speaker 2: I just want you to know, you know, somebody walks in,
- 47:50Speaker 2: he messes up everything, and now he's just playing with
- 47:53Speaker 2: the microphone up there. I mean, my goodness, it's it's
- 47:56Speaker 2: the microphone is taking a blue pill, by the way,
- 47:58Speaker 2: so happen.
- 48:00Speaker 3: I don't know. Every time he touches it, it goes up,
- 48:03Speaker 3: so you might have to just hold it down. But anyway,
- 48:07Speaker 3: might as well just say it's to I got a
- 48:11Speaker 3: red faced Cory Price here. That that is funny. That's funny.
- 48:16Speaker 3: What no music, Thomas.
- 48:23Speaker 2: I love the fact I just got a text from TJ.
- 48:38Speaker 2: Walker and here's listen to what he's calling me. He says, Mikey,
- 48:43Speaker 2: this quote is wild Online Big needs to cut that
- 48:47Speaker 2: quote as a promo.
- 48:48Speaker 3: Good stuff what quote come on the quote of oh Feebu, Yes, Cory,
- 48:55Speaker 3: did you hear that? Yeah, I heard about it. I
- 48:58Speaker 3: didn't hear live, but I mean, thanks for being that
- 49:01Speaker 3: is going long time. First, that is going to go
- 49:07Speaker 3: of viral as as the kids say, really you think so?
- 49:11Speaker 2: That would be nice if it did, because that was
- 49:13Speaker 2: just to me, that was forget about the epic fields
- 49:16Speaker 2: out there, that was an epic statement. I just I
- 49:19Speaker 2: still am in shock he said something like that, and
- 49:22Speaker 2: I love that he did because that, to me, gets
- 49:24Speaker 2: a fan base going.
- 49:26Speaker 3: It really just like the whole feed the studs thing
- 49:29Speaker 3: that gets a fan base going. Now when you hear
- 49:32Speaker 3: this feebu, I'm like, that gets a fan base really excited.
- 49:37Speaker 3: I'll have to clip it and post it up.
- 49:39Speaker 2: Yes, you're gonna have to, yeah, and please do because
- 49:42Speaker 2: that's gonna go I hope wild. So anyway, Corey, how
- 49:45Speaker 2: are you doing this morning? And you know he's on
- 49:47Speaker 2: his phone too, So anyway, I hate to disturb y'all
- 49:50Speaker 2: from your phone calls and your your messaging and all
- 49:53Speaker 2: your social media.
- 49:55Speaker 3: Please I'm trying.
- 49:55Speaker 2: I'm sitting over here trying to do a radio show,
- 49:58Speaker 2: and both y'all would rather be on the phone or
- 49:59Speaker 2: not stopping.
- 50:03Speaker 3: That should be cut out too. I love that you
- 50:09Speaker 3: said that, Justine, you mentioned phone calls. I'm not making
- 50:14Speaker 3: any phone calls.
- 50:14Speaker 2: Come on, okay, well I appreciate you not getting any
- 50:17Speaker 2: phone calls, but you know what, it's just all right, Cory.
- 50:20Speaker 5: You gotta keep in mind this is coming from the
- 50:22Speaker 5: guy that'll answer his phone as on.
- 50:25Speaker 2: All right now, Well, I'll never forget the time that
- 50:28Speaker 2: after Derby one year, my dad took the entire family
- 50:31Speaker 2: out to dinner, and then next thing we know, my
- 50:33Speaker 2: dad is gone.
- 50:35Speaker 3: We didn't know where he.
- 50:35Speaker 2: Went, and we called and called. He never answered, never
- 50:39Speaker 2: did anything. Well, finally he answered, he goes, nope, I'm
- 50:42Speaker 2: not coming back up there. Y'all can eat by yourself.
- 50:45Speaker 2: I'm I'm I'm home now, I'm fine. Y'all were all
- 50:48Speaker 2: on your phone and I just and he didn't understand
- 50:51Speaker 2: we were posting pictures.
- 50:52Speaker 3: Of the day I did that.
- 50:55Speaker 5: Probably this is probably six months ago. I was hanging
- 50:58Speaker 5: out with two of my best friends and they are
- 51:00Speaker 5: notoriously always on their phones. Like to the point that
- 51:03Speaker 5: I have mentioned before, Guys, do you ever put your
- 51:06Speaker 5: phones down and just have a normal conversation. So I
- 51:09Speaker 5: was having dinner with them one night. We wrap up dinner,
- 51:11Speaker 5: we're all still sitting around the table, and they're just
- 51:14Speaker 5: sitting there scrolling.
- 51:15Speaker 3: Yeah. And so finally I got up and they were like,
- 51:17Speaker 3: where are you going? I was like, I'm going home.
- 51:19Speaker 3: I can.
- 51:20Speaker 5: I can watch my roommate flip on his phone all day,
- 51:23Speaker 5: like I'm here to hang out with you guys. You
- 51:24Speaker 5: guys don't even want to talk.
- 51:25Speaker 3: Well, see, I've now made a rule.
- 51:27Speaker 2: At my one of my best friends, Bob Holgraat, always
- 51:31Speaker 2: quoted Rick Patino saying that listen, if you go sit
- 51:35Speaker 2: down with somebody and you're gonna have a dinner or
- 51:38Speaker 2: lunch or anything with them, Rick Patino said, if you've
- 51:41Speaker 2: got your phone out, that means that conversation is more
- 51:43Speaker 2: important than the person in front of you.
- 51:45Speaker 3: And I agree.
- 51:45Speaker 2: I have now made a rule that I do not
- 51:49Speaker 2: get my phone out at lunch or dinner, no matter
- 51:52Speaker 2: who I'm with. It stays in my pocket. I don't
- 51:55Speaker 2: care if it calls. Now, if it's my wife calling,
- 51:58Speaker 2: I'll answer it, but that's it.
- 52:00Speaker 3: I mean, if it's Will Steinkullen, oh.
- 52:02Speaker 2: Well, Will Stein, I'm sorry he's gonna have to sit
- 52:05Speaker 2: there and wait, he's just gonna have to it's more, well,
- 52:08Speaker 2: I might answer will Stein's phone call. So okay, sorry
- 52:11Speaker 2: about that.
- 52:11Speaker 5: Even if you're on the phone with your wife, because
- 52:13Speaker 5: you wouldn't answer mine yesterday.
- 52:15Speaker 3: Now, wait a minute, I was on my phone with
- 52:18Speaker 3: my wife. That was more I'm sorry justin so I'm
- 52:21Speaker 3: just trying to say, is your wife is more important
- 52:23Speaker 3: than Scoots? Oh?
- 52:26Speaker 5: He called me back, Corey, and he goes, Hey, let
- 52:28Speaker 5: me tell you something right now, don't ever hang up
- 52:31Speaker 5: with your wife to take another call.
- 52:33Speaker 3: You never do that, exactly right, rule number one. That's
- 52:35Speaker 3: why you know thirty. Let me think it'll be thirty
- 52:39Speaker 3: two years and next week, oh my goodness, a week
- 52:42Speaker 3: for Thursday. It's a big, big day, is it really?
- 52:45Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 52:45Speaker 3: I mean I hope so.
- 52:46Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a big date, not only for that but
- 52:49Speaker 2: also my two boys birthday all on the same day.
- 52:53Speaker 3: That's that's amazing. I'd like to see your statitician brain
- 52:57Speaker 3: work that one. How that happen your time on that
- 53:00Speaker 3: is amazing? Yes, well, on a lot of things. Impeccable, exactly,
- 53:05Speaker 3: Thank you. I appreciate that. Emphasize that a little more. Okay,
- 53:09Speaker 3: I will add that to the band. Three eleven is awesome?
- 53:12Speaker 3: Oh they are? So you know three eleven. What's their
- 53:15Speaker 3: biggest song? Oh? Man, I mean they're not that good. No,
- 53:20Speaker 3: I mean there's Amber down all mixed up come original
- 53:27Speaker 3: love song. I mean there's their biggest I would probably
- 53:31Speaker 3: say maybe Amber, but to play one, yeah, okay, yeah,
- 53:36Speaker 3: because what was the other? Revolution? Yeah? I hadn't heard
- 53:40Speaker 3: of them. Yeah, we gotta listen to them. Yeah, well tomorrow,
- 53:44Speaker 3: let's let's let's play some three eleven and Revolution. I'm
- 53:47Speaker 3: doing it today. Oh you are wait till tomorrow? Will
- 53:49Speaker 3: you black? Put off for tomorrow? What you could do today? Oh?
- 53:51Speaker 3: Thank you? Kid's getting all all deep on. Yeah exactly,
- 53:56Speaker 3: he said. Every day he sounds more and more like
- 53:58Speaker 3: Jerry Bennett. Just to let you know anyway.
- 54:01Speaker 2: But all right, it is Tuesday, Corey Price, We've already
- 54:05Speaker 2: taken a bunch of your time. So as he's searching
- 54:07Speaker 2: on the floor for something, are you okay? My wires
- 54:11Speaker 2: getting My wires get crossed every day, don't worry. I
- 54:14Speaker 2: thought you were picking up that five dollars a monopoly money.
- 54:17Speaker 2: I threw it away. He threw the football is next
- 54:20Speaker 2: by the way, Nobody understands what we're talking about. But
- 54:23Speaker 2: I am so sick and tired of this football right here.
- 54:26Speaker 2: What's wrong with King's football? Because he comes in here
- 54:29Speaker 2: and acts like he's gonna throw it, never throws it.
- 54:32Speaker 2: It's like, throw it for heaven's sake.
- 54:33Speaker 3: Really bothers him? It does it? Just throw it? Don't
- 54:36Speaker 3: do that? Throw the football. Go ahead, Cory, all right.
- 54:40Speaker 3: This week is May tenth through the sixteenth, starting off
- 54:42Speaker 3: May tenth, nineteen nineteen. Whoa stop it. Don't say you're
- 54:48Speaker 3: looking straight at me. Don't you say a word, because
- 54:51Speaker 3: I know where your brain's going. I was not alive
- 54:54Speaker 3: in nineteen nineteen, but your son was. Sir Sir Bardon
- 55:00Speaker 3: wins the forty fifth running of the Kentucky Derby. Oh yeah,
- 55:04Speaker 3: Sir Bardon won the race. Na yeah, and it's a

- 55:11Speaker 3: Bardin won the race in two minutes and nine point
- 55:13Speaker 3: eight seconds. Uh. Since then, there there have only been
- 55:16Speaker 3: two winning times that that were slower. The jockey was
- 55:20Speaker 3: Johnny Loftus it was a second w win. The trainer
- 55:24Speaker 3: was h Guy Bedwell. His only Derby win and this
- 55:30Speaker 3: is important because Sir D became the first horse to
- 55:32Speaker 3: win the Triple Crown. Oh really, guess the time the
- 55:37Speaker 3: time gap between the Kentucky Derby and the Pretty Mistakes
- 55:42Speaker 3: back in nineteen nineteen. Oh, okay, interesting, Okay, that's a
- 55:48Speaker 3: great question. I didn't know. Okay, Uh, I would say
- 55:53Speaker 3: five weeks? How about four days? Whoa? It was ran
- 55:58Speaker 3: four days later the wrong way? We really did. And

- 56:08Speaker 4: So?
- 56:08Speaker 3: It won four days later? Yeah, that's crazy, that is crazy.
- 56:12Speaker 3: I'd like to know how Biel. Does any horse run

- 56:19Speaker 5: Hey, Corey, you don't have horses running twice in two weeks.
- 56:23Speaker 5: There's only two Dort Derby horses in the Preakness. Can't

- 57:21Speaker 2: So it wasn't okay? Then I probably I was gonna
- 57:25Speaker 2: say Forrest Gump, but maybe that wasn't nice.
- 57:27Speaker 3: It was ninety five. It was okay, Philadelphia that was

- 1:02:29Speaker 3: don't don't get me started on that. The film gross
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: approximately fifty two point eight million dollars domestically, making it

- 1:02:39Speaker 3: Uh and uh. Will Ferrell was number for the Golden

- 1:03:45Speaker 3: Oh interesting, I would have never guessed that. I have

- 1:04:19Speaker 3: but food qualities not.
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: It used to be a lot fast food excuse I mean,

- 1:05:46Speaker 3: That's pretty good, man. That was bad, Corey, says the
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: guy who's laughing because it was so bad. I feel
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: bad for you. That was gonna hate Phoebu people phoebu, right.
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: I never in my life dream, Corey Price would be
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: on the radio saying something like that. I said, you're
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: the most straight laced person I've ever met in my life,
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: and I love that about you. By the way, I
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: do want to say how much I I'll talk about it, man,
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: but go ahead.
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: Last one May sixteenth, nineteen eighty six, the action film
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: Top Gun is released in theaters. Yeah, please tell top Gun?
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: Oh yes, oh yeah, Top Gun was awesome. Have you
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: seen the Maverick? Never? And I don't think I've seen
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: it either. It's okay, It's right. Directed by Tony Scott,
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: it stars Tom Cruise, Anthony Edwards, Michael Ironside, Val Kilmer,
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: Wait Nba, Anthony Edwards, uh no e er, Anthony Edwards,
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: Val Kilmer, Kelly McGillis, Tim Robbins, Meg Ryan, Tom Skarett,
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: and James Tolkien. Oh I forgot Meg Ryan is in that. Yes,
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: she was Goose's girlfriend. It's right. The film gross appropiate
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: one hundred and eighty point three million dollars domestically. Then
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: get the highest Croaks film of like eighty six, and
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: in two thousand and five the American Film Institute rank
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: the line, I feel the need, the need for speed
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: number ninety four onths list of the top one of
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: the quotes when are quotes in American cinema history?
- 1:07:18Speaker 6: Huh?
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: I like that and that's the week. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: Let me tell you a little bit something about this
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: guy right here. Oh boy, he texted me to wish
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: my wife a happy Mother's Day on Sunday. This is
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: the guy that sends everybody birthday wishes of Happy Thanksgiving,
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: Merry Christmas, every How many people do you send that stuff?
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: Because I know I'm not one of a very few,
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: you send it out to a ton of people. Yeah,
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: I mean, you know it's and that's nice to do.
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: They're important days and you know, and you do that,
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: and you know it does not go unnoticed. I know
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: I've mentioned it to you several times, but again, I
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: appreciate it it. I just can't get over you do
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: stuff like that. You're one of the most well, you're
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: one of the most thoughtful people out there. I mean,
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: I'll rip you as soon as we're off the radio,
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: but not right now. I want people to think I'm
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: a really nice person.
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: But you are nice. Michael Ben I don't know about
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: that's not so much. Yeah, well, we all agree with that. Hell,
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: tell them go ahead and tell them good thank you.
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: My favorite part of the week right there. Yeah. So anyway,
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: but Corey, what's going on for you?
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: Anything happening now since we're starting to really wind down,
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: Any UK stuff happening on campus?
- 1:08:26Speaker 4: Uh?
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: Last home weekends for baseball. I might get out to
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: one game. Maybe, UH might go to the King's game Saturday.
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: Oh good? You love their their football, by the way,
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: I do love the football. Throw it if you're gonna
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: put it in your hand Yep, Corey, don't go to
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: the game there. They don't win at home, that's true.
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: They're what three and one on the road and owen
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: or Yeah, they're definitely owen three at home. They never
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: want a home game. Yeah, yeah, that's not good. I
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: went to the last home game and they only scored
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: three points, so it might be bad luck. Was the
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: crowd still good at the last game you went? It
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: was decent? That means it wasn't good. I mean I
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: would say maybe, really, I mean, okay, when they're not winning, Yeah,
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: it's hard. I get it. I get it. So all right, Corey,
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: Corey Price, everybody appreciate you what you do, My man,
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: appreciate you all and FEBU people. Yes exactly, that is
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: if we need to trademark that for only uk US. Okay,
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: nobody else is allowed. And I hope they put that
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: in the big screen atwell Stadium. Yes, hatch and shirt.
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: Put on a polo and a button my top top
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: button for it. Yeah.
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: By the way, you don't have to show them the
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: the shirt the job. I will yeah, I'll definitely show
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: you that offline. So all right, we got to take
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: a break. Everybody, stay right there. A lot more of
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: just the cats come out. We got a little football news,
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: got a little uh basketball news too, so we'll talk
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: about that soon as.
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: We get back.
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: I feel like I'm down in Saint somewhere on the
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: beach listening to this music and some dude is walked
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: by me smoking the Devil's lettuce.
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: I mean, what what is this?
- 1:10:51Speaker 6: Is it?
- 1:10:51Speaker 3: Really? All right?
- 1:10:53Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: I like Rebel. We didn't get to hear him sing though.
- 1:10:56Speaker 3: Do they sing on that song? Oh yeah, hold on,
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: leave it there? Oh yes, I mean this is this
- 1:11:08Speaker 3: is a spot on the name. This song is so
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: high it is really I nailed it. This is awesome.
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: All right, play a little more that just you can't
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: turn is it over?
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: Oh?
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't care what h sinking YouTube said. This
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: is good. It's kind of Bob Marley. Is I like this? Okay?
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: Will Stein?
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: Man, I am a gigantic fan of yours now because
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: of you've introduced me to some of the greatest music
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: in the world.
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: I and I.
- 1:11:39Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: The crazy part is I love the name first, and
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: now I gotta go. I'm going to get in the
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: car as whon as we're done today, I'm putting on
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: Revolution and I'm going to listen to Revolution the rest
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: of the day, just like I did with j D.
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: Shelburn. What's that? Why not? I'm calling you out? Oh?
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: Really you are?
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: I did it for JD. I'm gonna do it with Revolution.
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: It's a great name, all right. You got me all excited.
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: He's in the reggae. Did you ever think that Will
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: Stein would be in the reggae? Not particularly? And also
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: I definitely know three eleven that song that I played
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: going out, Yeah, I just always thought that was Gosh,
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: who's the other band that sounded just like him? I
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: can't think of the name, but I always thought of
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: it was another band. There's a lot of eighties bands
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: that sounded alike, like you know, you were playing on
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: your show, depeche Mode, And there are a lot of
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: other bands that kind of sounded OMD kind of sounded
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: like another band, another band, Morrissey kind of sounded like
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: another band. I mean it just it never stopped. They
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: all kind of sounded similar. But I mean, I still
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: miss I couldn't believe you were watching and listening to
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: depeche Mode.
- 1:12:51Speaker 3: That made me.
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: That made me really happy about that. By the way,
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: that was one of my favorite bands in high school
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: and college. Do you really okay? Favorite song by the
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: one I played? Reach Okay?
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: I don't remember which one it was, I don't okay,
- 1:13:05Speaker 3: reach out touch me? Damn okay. Uh.
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: Let's talk about little UK basketball. Frank Keptnong hah got it.
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: The waiver was signed yesterday. He's all good to go.
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: So you know you had brought up Keptanong had to
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: get that waiver. It was all taken care of. Yeah,
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: he knew it would Yeah even if it wasn't, wouldn't
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: you still put him on the team. Say the heck
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: with it because that's what everybody else is doing. But
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: Natoates did it Duke has done it?
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: Why not?
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: Sure Alabama got away with it, So just go ahead
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: and start playing the team, don't. It doesn't matter what
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: the NCAA says.
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: You think, do we think Alabama faces any sort of punishment? No,
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: not at all. Isn't that kind of crazy in today's environment? No,
- 1:13:49Speaker 3: it just isn't.
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: Nobody is paying attention to the governing body of college sports,
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: which is known as the n CUBA. And until that changes,
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: and the NCAA can't just rely on the government, Okay,
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: you can't rely on them coming back and saving your butt.
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: You've got to do something. Either these schools are going
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: to follow and abide by the rules and regulations that
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: were brought about for a reason, or they're not. And
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: if they're not, then you got to penalize them. And
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: everybody knows they're not gonna get penalized, So that's why not.
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: Uh I think this was very telling as well. It
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: was announced that uh Malchi Moreno is not going to
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: participate this weekend in the NBA scrimmages. I think that
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: tells you everything you need to know.
- 1:14:31Speaker 3: Does it? Though?
- 1:14:32Speaker 5: It does because MIKEL Brown Junior is also not participating
- 1:14:36Speaker 5: in the five on five scrimmages.
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't read I don't really read into any
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: of them. Oh I do I do.
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: To me, that just means, Okay, he's not he's not
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: going to be going. And plus you know that everybody's
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: still predicting him outside looking in as far as the
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: first round. There's no need for him to go anywhere.
- 1:14:54Speaker 5: Yeah, but if if Mikel Brown Junior is going to
- 1:14:56Speaker 5: be a top ten pick, why would he.
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: Not playing them?
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: I think that's a different you're talking about apples and oranges.
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: The difference with Mikel Brown. He doesn't want to get injured,
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: and he's already been told by the team, probably Michel Uh,
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: probably by multiple teams that have said, you know, it's
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: not necessary, we're gonna pick you at this this level.
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: And I'm sure his agent's in full contact with those
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: teams that are looking at potentially drafting him. It's not necessary.
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: He's already reached the height that he needs to. Why
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: risk it's a good point. So with with Malachi, you're
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: not at that point yet. So since you're not at
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: that point, why move on any further and just go
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: back to college? That to me is just two different
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: scenarios there that uh one is one way in Malachi
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: is going to be a different way. And I expect
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: him next few days to announce that he's coming back
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: to the UK and going to bring somebody with him too. Okay,
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: he's gonna bring somebody with him. I gotta have confidence
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: that's going to happen. And once that, it's gonna blow
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: everybody's mind. And then everybody's going, oh, we're gonna win it.
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: Don't get that way. Oh they would, but you can't.
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: I don't know one certain player I know, I know,
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: but man, I am really really.
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: Concerned about that. I don't want this team to be
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: having so much pressure on them by the fan base.
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: The expectations are so high that it just kind of
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: blows up in their face like it did last year.
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: I'm down to the point where I'm convinced thats what happened.
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: This team had so much pressure on them, they didn't
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: get along. Therefore they didn't play as a team, and
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: Mark Pope just had no answers. It's not you know,
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: he can't always blame the head coach, even though majority
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: of the time is deserved because it's the team he assembled.
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: But you know, every now and then I think he
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: gets a pass. But if it doesn't happen this year,
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: I just feel like three years is enough, especially at UK.
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: So, especially with NIL and the way everything's set up now. Yes, yeah,
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: well hopefully uh. And they keep saying the n L
- 1:16:57Speaker 3: is not a problem. That's all I've ever or in.
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: Al's not a prominent UK so you can't blame that
- 1:17:03Speaker 3: we're not getting enough money. I'm not convinced yet. You
- 1:17:07Speaker 3: still can't blame JMI. I very much say that you
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: can very much blame JMI. I don't like this deal.
- 1:17:15Speaker 3: I probably will never like this steal.
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: Let's talk about post positions where announced yesterday for the
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: second gem of the Triple Crown, which is known as
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: the Freakness. And I'm happy to see one horse that's
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: in there, the one horse that I was so disappointed
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: for the horse, the owners, the jockey, the trainer, everybody,
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: and that's great white Yeah, I mean I really was.
- 1:17:42Speaker 3: You know, I don't know if you remember the the.
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: Video of I didn't see it, lied, But the poor
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: jockey who flew all the way over isn't he from France?
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: He flew over here from Europe to ride in the
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: Kentucky Derby and his horse throws him. Wait he was
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: from overseas. Yeah, that's horrible. Yeah, and uh and that
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: you could see it in his face and utter shock
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: that he was in. But I mean, I just so,
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: I'm glad to see that both the horse and rider
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: are in the premises coming weekend.
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: I did like that.
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: I did like that o'cellly is in it. I mean,
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: for the life of me, I want to call it ocelly.
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: I don't know why it's pronounced o'celly the only time.
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: I don't want to use the way it's supposed to
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: be pronounced it, but I want to say ocelly. No,
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: it's ocelly.
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: Do we know for a fact that it's ocellly.
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: Oh, I'm I've heard everybody else pronounce it as osell,
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: so I could be wrong, but I've heard a lot
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: of people pronounced it as o'cell I like that. Incredible
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: is in it? Yes, well two and a half. I
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: mean even thought White didn't even run, but he was
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: scratched right at the gate.
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: Which was hard. But if he runs Kentucky Derby, he's
- 1:19:02Speaker 3: probably not running in this.
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: One of the horses I've been involved with is in
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: the Kentucky are is in the Preakness. Yep, Corona Deorro.
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: I thought it was so funny. I'm watching the local
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: news yesterday and they called it Corona de Toro.
- 1:19:20Speaker 3: Made me laugh.
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: One of my good friends named him, and so here
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: he has a horse that he named in the Preakness.
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: I just anytime you get a horse in one of
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: these three races is a blessing because that it just
- 1:19:33Speaker 2: does not happen. Sure, I think Corona, who is a
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: very big athletic horse that loves to bite me, is outmatched.
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: I mean, if I'm completely honest, I I'm surprised that
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: he's in the race.
- 1:19:48Speaker 3: But we're in it. I mean, I'm excited about it.
- 1:19:51Speaker 3: So once you're in, you never know what happened. I
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: do not want you to bet on it. It will
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: not win, it won't come in second or third. Do
- 1:19:59Speaker 3: not bet on this.
- 1:20:00Speaker 5: I okay, all my money's going to Gray White. Okay, good,
- 1:20:03Speaker 5: you've seen the engine on that thing.
- 1:20:05Speaker 3: Well, all my.
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: Money's going to Incredible. I still believe in Incredible. So
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: I don't know, I don't know what's going to happen
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: in this race, but it's gonna be a lot of fun.
- 1:20:13Speaker 2: I'm looking forward to it.
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: I'm headed to Baltimore and uh when going I'm going
- 1:20:18Speaker 3: race is Saturday. I know I'm going Saturday. You're going
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: on Saturday? I am yeah? Gross, wow, like you're flying
- 1:20:26Speaker 3: there on Saturday. Yes, I'm flying to Baltimore on Saturday.
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: Why do you keep questioning me this? I'm going Saturday.
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: What's the big mark? Just trying to confirm because I
- 1:20:34Speaker 3: would go earlier if.
- 1:20:35Speaker 4: I was you.
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: No, No, it's it's here's the problem. It's not at
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: you know, Pimblica race track. It's at Laurel because they
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: completely tore down Pimlico. So yeah, they're only allowing I
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: think it's like forty five hundred people to go whoa,
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: and there's no wind field.
- 1:20:53Speaker 3: That's what one hundred and fifty thousand people less than
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: the dirty Oh yeah, oh exactly. That's crazy. It is crazy.
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: So but uh, I don't know.
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: It just doesn't have the preakness feel since it's at Laurel.
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: But I'm gonna take some video. I'll I'll take pictures
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: of my other horse I got there too. Her honor
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: is her name, so who I love. But I'm looking
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: forward to it'll be fun. We'll see what happens.
- 1:21:19Speaker 3: But uh uh.
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: Anyway, I'm gonna be there through next Wednesday, so sorry
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: about that. So yeah, I have to stay afterwards because
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: there's a sale afterwards called the Phasing tipt mid Atlantic Pnemonium.
- 1:21:30Speaker 3: Better than you telling me, well, we gotta go watch
- 1:21:33Speaker 3: a breeze, I know, but I can't. Well, I mean,
- 1:21:35Speaker 3: I'm gonna watch a breeze too, but I do have
- 1:21:38Speaker 3: something to fill in for me next Wednesday, and you'll
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: be excited about it, Okay, Okay, yeah, TJ and uh Nick.
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: I thought we were gonna look like, I don't know,
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: maybe build up the anticipation there.
- 1:21:49Speaker 4: Oh is that?
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: Oh I'm so sorry. Go ahead, never mind, we're gonna
- 1:21:52Speaker 3: throw it out now, Oh we are. Okay, I'll save it.
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: I'll save it.
- 1:21:56Speaker 5: So there's a week to play that up. And you're like, now,
- 1:21:58Speaker 5: let's just make the announce Why am I ain't it up?
- 1:22:00Speaker 5: I know, I just built some intrigue radio work, Michael.
- 1:22:04Speaker 2: Okay, we'll cut that out of the podcast and we'll well,
- 1:22:07Speaker 2: we'll build up that intrigue. I don't know, I screw
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: up stuff, just like I told you. I love giving
- 1:22:11Speaker 2: presents out early, so anyway, we gotta take our last break.
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: Uh when we come back, I do want to talk
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: about what have you pronounce that?
- 1:22:21Speaker 3: Whatever it is? F f fo fum.
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: Okay, it's just one of those stupid soccer things. I
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: do want to talk about because I find it interesting.
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: And who is the greatest baseball organization in Major League Baseball?
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: I have the answer as soon as I get back
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: as well. We'll talk about that a little more. We'll
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: get back to your text. If you want to text
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: in favel two four one four fourteen fifty, stay right there.
- 1:22:45Speaker 3: One more segment. Just Cat's coming up. Everything's all right,
- 1:23:03Speaker 3: every joy.
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: For Pabot two three four fourteen fifty. You want to
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: call in this last segment. If you want to text
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: it on the Whiskey Fee text line, you can do
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: that at five O two four one four fourteen fifteen
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: to uh tweet me just the cat radio. But uh yeah,
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: I like Revolution. Okay, we're gonna keep playing them. We're
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: gonna find some more songs about Revolution. And I'm telling
- 1:24:00Speaker 2: you right now, okay, yeah, why are you saying it
- 1:24:04Speaker 2: that way? Okay, you didn't like them, we'll do it. Okay, good,
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: I'll just have to save it for Wednesdays. Why Wednesdays
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: whacky Wednesday?
- 1:24:13Speaker 3: Oh? Why is that wacky Wednesday? Why is that music wacky?
- 1:24:17Speaker 5: It's so wacky Wednesdays normally associated with weed.
- 1:24:22Speaker 2: Oh I did not realize that. Okay, yeah, we'll have
- 1:24:24Speaker 2: to play that on Wednesdays. Oh so you're associating with
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: a certain drug?
- 1:24:29Speaker 3: Yes, wow, wow. I don't know if you listen to
- 1:24:33Speaker 3: the lyrics. But I listen to the lyrics, but it
- 1:24:35Speaker 3: doesn't mean I listen. I love Bob Marley, but I
- 1:24:37Speaker 3: don't smoke pot. I have literally never smoked pot in
- 1:24:41Speaker 3: my life. I don't know what to say here. Thank you?
- 1:24:45Speaker 3: All right, leave it at that, Well done you. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: Don't you insinuate anybody else's smoke pot because they listen
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: to that kind of music. But uh, do you like
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: that FIFA is requiring some stadiums as a part of
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: the World Cup to change their names or cover corporate
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: sponsored logos.
- 1:25:06Speaker 3: Have you seen any of this? I have not, But
- 1:25:09Speaker 3: that makes sense. Why does it make sense that's the
- 1:25:12Speaker 3: name of the stadium.
- 1:25:13Speaker 5: Yeah, but they're they're if their stadium sponsor isn't a
- 1:25:16Speaker 5: FIFA sponsor. Then yeah, naturally FIFA want you to call Oh, so.
- 1:25:20Speaker 3: You think it's okay for it? Because this is what
- 1:25:22Speaker 3: they're doing.
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: They are literally taking down Like for instance, yesterday they
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: were showing, uh, how do you to me, it's Arrowhead Stadium.
- 1:25:30Speaker 2: I didn't realize it was called Jiha Field, Our Giha
- 1:25:34Speaker 2: g e h A Field, and they were literally taking
- 1:25:38Speaker 2: the letters of the name of the stadium down. Really,
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: they won't even let it be called Arrowhead Stadium. So
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: while they're playing the Soccer World Cup there, it will
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: be known as Kansas City Stadium. So San Francisco Levi Stadium,
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: we all know it as Levi State, correct, And I
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: don't even associate it with blue jeans anymore. It's Levi Stadium.
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: It will be now known as San Francisco Bay Area Stadium.
- 1:26:10Speaker 3: I don't like this one. Bill at and T. Where
- 1:26:14Speaker 3: is AT and T Stadium? Is that Atlanta?
- 1:26:18Speaker 6: Oh?
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: Come on, you're killing me. It's Dallas Cowboys. It's now
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: going to be called Dallas Stadium. In RG Stadium in
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: Houston is going to be called Houston Stadium. And then
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: I just told you the Jiha Field at Arrowhead Stadium
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: is now going to be Kansas City Stadium. I kind
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: of like the old school. Now the only one that
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: is not being forced to change or cover its logo
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: is Atlanta. That's Mercedes Been Stadium. They said it was
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: going to be too difficult to take out the Mercedes. Yeah,
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: everywhere it's well exactly, But so it's right because to me,
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: I hate to tell you, Atlanta, you're not the stadium
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: I think of when it's Mercedes Benz. When I think
- 1:27:02Speaker 2: Mercedes Benz Stadium, I think a Super Bowl are a
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: super Dome. That's the one I think of. It's not
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: Mercedes though, anymore, is it.
- 1:27:11Speaker 3: I don't. I think they dropped it and it's now
- 1:27:13Speaker 3: just Atlanta. It sounds like they're.
- 1:27:15Speaker 5: Doing all this too, in my opinion, probably make it
- 1:27:20Speaker 5: easier for all the foreigners that aren't.
- 1:27:23Speaker 3: From here that know where the stadiums are located.
- 1:27:25Speaker 5: Exactly, like cause if you call it Arrowhead Stadium, somebody
- 1:27:28Speaker 5: from like Ukraine's gonna be watching them Arrowhead Stadium like
- 1:27:32Speaker 5: they don't know. And I don't know why I made
- 1:27:34Speaker 5: Ukrainian sound like a country bumpkin, but I think calling
- 1:27:38Speaker 5: it by the city name would probably make it easier
- 1:27:41Speaker 5: to figure out exactly where you're I.
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: Think the two of us can name one stadium outside
- 1:27:48Speaker 2: of the United States? Can you name two? Because the
- 1:27:54Speaker 2: one that's famous. Can you can name one, can't you?
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: Wimbley exactly? That's the one I can identify. What is
- 1:28:01Speaker 2: another stadium outside of the United States that you can name?
- 1:28:05Speaker 2: I'm so mad at that, see, because I cannot think,
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: I know Bayern Munich Stadium. I just can't think of
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: the name. Oh okay, so you know, I don't know
- 1:28:12Speaker 2: of another stadium name, uh, in the entire world outside
- 1:28:16Speaker 2: of the United States. I think some of the most
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: iconic ones in the United States, or what are some
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: of the more iconic ones in the United States? I
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: would have said Levi, I would have said Mercedes Pins
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: another one for me, Tropicana Field, Great American Ballpark?
- 1:28:35Speaker 3: What's another one? Hines? Michael? We could just go on
- 1:28:39Speaker 3: that way. I think we could. You could name several
- 1:28:41Speaker 3: of them, can't you? And it's not Heines anymore? Oh?
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: What's it called now? Acrosure?
- 1:28:46Speaker 4: Oh?
- 1:28:46Speaker 3: Come on, okay, that's that's that's a dumb name.
- 1:28:51Speaker 5: Estadio as Teco. We probably should have got never heard.
- 1:28:55Speaker 5: I'm assuming it's in Mexico, Mexico City. Okay, freaking Byron's
- 1:28:59Speaker 5: alliance are I should have known that? Who allions?
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: Where is that? That's in Germany?
- 1:29:05Speaker 2: Okay, well, good for you because you watch soccer though, correct. Yeah,
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: so I don't watch soccer. There's nothing out there that
- 1:29:12Speaker 2: I would know the name of. Probably not no, yeah
- 1:29:15Speaker 2: so anyway, but uh my apologies to everybody out there,
- 1:29:18Speaker 2: but I just I don't know no names of other stadiums,
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: and you know, I like it when people do, but
- 1:29:25Speaker 2: when they're constantly changing, like the Dolphins. It's been so
- 1:29:29Speaker 2: many different names at Dolphins Stadium. I don't know what
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: it's called hard rock right now. It's been called Yeah,
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: it's been named after Jimmy Buffett's beer for a year.
- 1:29:41Speaker 2: It's been named after the trash guy, Joe. Robbie Stadium
- 1:29:45Speaker 2: is probably the way I remember, uh, like the Braves
- 1:29:47Speaker 2: where the Braves play. You know, for years it was
- 1:29:49Speaker 2: Turner Turner Field, and then I don't know what it's
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: called now.
- 1:29:54Speaker 3: Isn't Coca Cola?
- 1:29:55Speaker 6: Is it?
- 1:29:56Speaker 3: Really? It would make sense if it was, at least
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: it was before they made Okay, well to me, it's
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: still Turner Field. I like Turner Field, by the way.
- 1:30:04Speaker 2: I don't know if you've seen the video, you know,
- 1:30:06Speaker 2: we were talking about Ted Turner passed away and then
- 1:30:08Speaker 2: Bobby Cox passed away. It was pretty cool that people
- 1:30:12Speaker 2: are putting out there the last time that Bobby Cox
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: threw out the first pitch and he threw up just
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: a strike down the middle of the from the mound,
- 1:30:21Speaker 2: and then he goes up and starts talking to the
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: umpire and one of the umpires throws him out of
- 1:30:25Speaker 2: the game. I thought that was awesome. I mean, that
- 1:30:27Speaker 2: just shows how much you know that that they make
- 1:30:30Speaker 2: it fun, and I think Bobby Cox was that way.
- 1:30:32Speaker 3: Love.
- 1:30:33Speaker 2: While we're talking about baseball, who is the greatest baseball team?
- 1:30:37Speaker 2: Who is the greatest organization ever in Major League Baseball?
- 1:30:40Speaker 2: I'm going to tell you right now, New York yank No, Yeah,
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: it's a Tampa bay Rays. Oh you want to know
- 1:30:46Speaker 2: why it's the Tampa bay Rays right now?
- 1:30:48Speaker 3: Because I got a right tank.
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: We got twenty six and thirteen is their record best
- 1:30:53Speaker 2: record in AL. They have the third lowest payroll in
- 1:30:58Speaker 2: Major League Baseball, and they are two games ahead of
- 1:31:01Speaker 2: the New York Yankees right now.
- 1:31:03Speaker 5: So due to their success. This year, Michael Bennett is
- 1:31:07Speaker 5: having them as the greatest baseball franchise of all time.
- 1:31:10Speaker 3: Yes, the heck with Jason Wurtz makes sense to me. Yeah,
- 1:31:13Speaker 3: ok good.
- 1:31:14Speaker 2: Are they the most impressive organization organization of all professional sports?
- 1:31:20Speaker 4: No?
- 1:31:21Speaker 3: How can you say that? They?
- 1:31:23Speaker 2: You know, the highest amount of money they pay a
- 1:31:25Speaker 2: player is YONDI Diaz. They pay them twelve million dollars.
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: They pay their players eighty seven million dollars. I mean,
- 1:31:33Speaker 2: they that's amazing. That's the one thing I could say
- 1:31:35Speaker 2: about them. They do out kick their coverage more times
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: than not, like they shouldn't play as well as they are.
- 1:31:41Speaker 2: But okay, maybe I'll have to agree.
- 1:31:49Speaker 3: You are talking yourself right into what I'm trying to say.
- 1:31:57Speaker 3: I love you justin you make me laugh every day.
- 1:32:00Speaker 3: But I mean, come on, man, they pay nothing to
- 1:32:04Speaker 3: these players and yet they succeed. No, I mean, it
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: isn't that's shut. That's nothing short of amazing. They don't
- 1:32:09Speaker 3: win anything. Yeah, that's the problem. You're exactly right.
- 1:32:12Speaker 5: It's great to have a great regular season to get
- 1:32:15Speaker 5: to the playoffs, but you can do some damage once
- 1:32:17Speaker 5: you get there.
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: Well, the fact that I'm even talking about it right now.
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: They're probably gonna least twenty games in a row. So,
- 1:32:24Speaker 2: and they'll go into the All Star Break probably fourth
- 1:32:26Speaker 2: or fifth place in their division. So I I but
- 1:32:29Speaker 2: at least you're not in So the Reds are last
- 1:32:32Speaker 2: place in their division. Yeah, they have a better record
- 1:32:36Speaker 2: than thirteen American League teams?
- 1:32:39Speaker 3: Are you serious? Thirteen American League teams? And you're in
- 1:32:43Speaker 3: last place in your division? But how many games are
- 1:32:45Speaker 3: they out of first place? I think five?
- 1:32:47Speaker 2: Yeah, so they still have a chance to get back
- 1:32:48Speaker 2: into it, which I'm rooting for. Which yeah, I mean,
- 1:32:51Speaker 2: we all want the Reds to win. If you live
- 1:32:53Speaker 2: in Louisville, Kentucky, youward for the Reds.
- 1:32:55Speaker 3: Don't you. I mean this is kind of Red's country
- 1:32:57Speaker 3: kind I mean the Triple A team here in town,
- 1:32:59Speaker 3: the little back Yes, Cincinnati Reds Triple A team.
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: Come on, man, how can you refer anybody else? I
- 1:33:05Speaker 2: did see this over the weekend. Didn't have a chance
- 1:33:07Speaker 2: to talk about it yesterday, But did you see the
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: Double A team for the Phillies in Reading, Pennsylvania?
- 1:33:14Speaker 3: They hosted a high school prom? Did you not see that? Oh?
- 1:33:20Speaker 2: My god, I love that. I thought it was awesome.
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: And they're all in their tuxedo and long dresses and
- 1:33:26Speaker 2: I and while a actual game is going on, they
- 1:33:31Speaker 2: are having their prom and I thought, my gosh, if
- 1:33:35Speaker 2: I could have been there for that when I was
- 1:33:37Speaker 2: having my prom, I would.
- 1:33:39Speaker 3: Have been awesome.
- 1:33:40Speaker 2: Absolutely. I mean, you think that was a three to
- 1:33:43Speaker 2: two one night Probably not, probably not. They were probably
- 1:33:49Speaker 2: checking everybody like crazy. You know what their mascot is,
- 1:33:53Speaker 2: I do not The Fighting Phils. Okay, the Fighting Fil.
- 1:33:56Speaker 4: I like that.
- 1:33:58Speaker 3: They're the double A team for the Phillyladelphia Phillies.
- 1:34:00Speaker 5: I think they should have a role where you can
- 1:34:02Speaker 5: only play on that team if your name is Phil.
- 1:34:05Speaker 5: They're the fight in Phil. No, that's not gonna work.
- 1:34:07Speaker 5: Come on, No, that that that won't work.
- 1:34:10Speaker 3: You can because Phills aren't good at baseball.
- 1:34:12Speaker 2: I know I'm not all right, greatest baseball Phills, Phil Neicro.
- 1:34:17Speaker 2: I don't have anybody else. Okay, yeah, you'd have one
- 1:34:20Speaker 2: person on the team and that would be it. No,
- 1:34:23Speaker 2: But anyway, oh my gosh, fun show today, And you
- 1:34:26Speaker 2: know every day is fun when when Justin Kalin's around.
- 1:34:29Speaker 2: But everybody, we'll be back here on Wednesday. Have a
- 1:34:32Speaker 2: great day and We'll see you tomorrow on Justin Cats
