• And do you still use audio hijack that's doing my side, out of curiosity? Um yes. I'm recording mine. Okay. I was wondering if you were still doing that session style. I do, I do. I've got massive amounts of files like back like just all the because I never think to delete them. They just sit there on my drive. They just pile up, yeah. Pile up. And then occasionally I'll go back through and I'll just purge them all. But yeah, I've got I'm backing it up now. Just the signal, yeah, from signal. There you go. So if it all goes horribly wrong, we've got something. That's fine. And my blue for you? 'Cause my preview looks blue on signal. Your preview like your head. Like the little the little head, yeah. It's like I'm blue, like everything's sort of blue tint. No, you look normal. Alright, well you can cut this first minute out. Good setup. This is that. Well, Andrew, it's good to see you. It's a bit confusing because we uh thought we were starting at this time, but then you weren't sure if we were an hour later, and then Jason said he might be driving home from something, but then when I called you to start the call, he didn't turn up, but then he appeared at a concert. Yes, with bit from his mobile phone with very poor coverage. And it sounded like it sounded like river dance. River dance. That's what it sounded like to me. It was very Celtic music. I didn't know that Burke was a Celtic kind of guy. Is Burke Celtic? Have I just not understood that we he has like serious Irish heritage or something? No, he's on the west coast and I think all the all the Irish stuff is on the east coast of America, right? Right. Like Boston and Pennsylvania or something. P I think now's the time when you do their accent, but it just comes across as Texan. Well I see boy. I was enjoying some Irish dance. Excellent. Exactly as they say in Austin. Oh, I do turn into Falkhorn Lakehorn. I don't know why that happens. Yeah, it's just like, oh that's right, I'm from California. I say boy. Which is highly actually I gotta catch myself because I say I think oh boy, no big deal. And then I remember the there are racial overtones to that that probably don't play. And I don't think about it because I'm Australian and that just isn't a thing in my world. So when I say I say a boy, I'm not actually being racially provocative. I am just It's good, yeah, that you bring that up. So we're playing the ignorant Australian card. So apologies to anybody who I've caused great offence to. I mean nothing by it. Um and when I try and do an American accent in the future I will Well, maybe we could do uh what if I did a Tim Cook? Yeah, sure. He's Southern. That's still Southern, which is also Tex Oh God. No, I can't think. Alabama, I think he's from. Yeah. You're still going. You're still going. I I just set up the hole and you just leapt into it. Yeah. Should we do Kiwi? Hey Bro. Hey. Hey choice eh. Yeah, you can do uh you can do all of them. I mean anyway, look, I bring all this up to say uh listeners, you know, we're several years into this now and you know things like this still happen when you're across three time zones. And Jason, sorry if you're spause we thought he was gonna be joining from the road, but look, he may turn up, he may not. Maybe he'll add something later as a file. So we might have just completely offended our co-host. So I apologize, Jason. I am I saying that on behalf of you, Andrew? Maybe you don't want to apologise. Maybe it's like stuff you're apologizing. I think I think what we need that we need credit because I think our podcast of all the w podcasts in the world and there are a few, ours is probably the most difficult time scheduling wise. Like in terms of the zones we are in, we have really made we're playing on hard mode and we've been doing it for a long time. Well it's because there are three of us. I reckon if it were just me and Jason, we'd pull it off easily and find a time. If it were just you and Jason, you'd pull it off easily. If it's just you and me, but it's that culmination, that coming together, it's like oops. Yeah. You know. Yeah. But somehow we make it work and we're being flexible today. So so um he may drop in, maybe not. So I'm seeing some basketballs here, Andrew. What would you like to say today? All right. Basketballs. Let's start with let's start with business corner. Which is slightly out of line with the uh episode numbering, but let's do that. So I was thinking about LinkedIn. As you do. 'Cause because I'm on the cusp of deleting my account because I read all their their terrible data mining and all the the just the the interrogation they do of your soul without you even knowing. But I haven't yet deleted it because there's a part of me that just thinks it's handy to have in existence just something that I know people recruiters might look at. They do look at it, let's face it. Right? They do, yes. I I don't want to totally wipe out that presence. But I've given up essentially posting to it or even looking at it. Um And that's what's that's what got me thinking because the other day I wanted to just look up my timeline of jobs, right? And you can actually extract from LinkedIn I found out that like a PDF history. And I already had it on my CV, but I just wanted to cross-reference what I had. So I was doing that and I was looking at LinkedIn and all the stupid posts that people put up there and all the self-congratulatory stuff. And and then I was looking at all my networks, you know, I have 500 plus connections. Because earlier on I did used to use it, try and use it a bit more. And I just thought, of these five hundred plus connections, do I care about any of them and do they care about me? And quite obviously the answer is no, because I look at some of those connections I'm like, I don't remember who that person is. Yeah, I'm sure they're lovely. I'm sure we got along well at the time, but I do not remember them. And so in all of this, all this effort to build and network and to build your profile has ever actually genuinely helped anyone? Like I've never gotten a job out of it. I've never sold an extra widget from it. I've never gained anything that you would think is business beneficial from LinkedIn. So who is? And what's the point of it? Has it actually helped anyone in their career? You know, I actually find it personally very funny that you've posed this somewhat rhetorical question to me because I think you're talking to someone who actually has a bit of a weird answer. Oh no. Oh the time. Oh jeez. Well, okay, no. I agree with everything that you said. It is look, the character of LinkedIn I would describe as a very bizarre, as you said very well, self congratulatory, performative cesspool of corporate flexing. Right? It's a strange place and there is that promise of uh you know, you're gonna get a job out of it or it'll help you in some time of need. And yes, recruiters do check on it. I used to work with the recruitment team. I was their communication person and they were they were great and they were, you know, um on there checking it basically as people's you know online resumes that well there wasn't much more to it than that that's what it's for but I think yeah it's it's hard because in my role working in like digital communication doing video and photos and social media and all that stuff. I use LinkedIn all the time as one of the major, I suppose, broadcasting platforms for stories for the company that I work for. And I think it's a really mixed bag because on the one hand, there's a lot of people going on there just to basically use it as the work Facebook and just, you know, sales and all of this stuff. But then I would like to think the way that I and my team use it, right, uh is different in the sense that we're we're using it for what it's intended as. Here is the platform to go and see corporate or company stories or interviews with employees or whatever that would feel out of place or overly branded in proper social networks that aren't business related. Yeah. So I suppose what I'm saying is if LinkedIn were used properly and it's about seeing what's happening at work and stories that reveal you know people's achievements or projects or effort, it's actually a really good thing. But the problem is that people pollute it with this work Facebook style stuff. And then of course, because things are algorithmic and not chronological, the network then uh fuels that with its algorithm because people want to see stuff that's overly social or maybe a little bit, ooh, a bit of conflict there or something. Yeah, or controversial. So I suppose what I'm saying is I agree with everything that you said, but you happen to be talking to a communication person at work who is trying to use it for what it's intended for, and when it is used that way, it can actually be useful. Right. Okay. Is that like too much of a boring answer that kind of crapped on what you were talking about. You can imagine he has a slightly different perspective. Um but but you're entitled to your views, you know. That's no no I I I don't go on there for enjoyment, right? It's just full of I suppose what I'm saying is it's not uh it's not a place that you go to enjoy, right? It's people showing off and I think people think they're gonna get a job out of it, but they don't. So I think if companies use it as a way of actually communicating what they're doing, that's great, but unfortunately that's not how a lot of people use it. So you end up with the experience that you do, and I sit here going, oh god, what cheesy stuff we're gonna see today. I have a follow-up question. Yeah, go for it. Do you play the daily puzzles? No. Then that's what I mean. That's that's rubbish. Yeah. Because I keep getting messages like so and so from your organization is playing and I'm like why? I I have no interest. No, it's rubbish. No. It should be used as kind of like the external equivalent of replacing, you know, what you would see on a company intranet or something or company news. It's not about, you know, play with friends. It's like, aren't you supposed to be working? It's about work. You're not working. And then the other thing I noticed, because I rarely log in, is I get I I had a few messages from people that I remember meeting many years ago saying, Oh, happy birthday or like is a work anniversary day. Congratulations. I'm like, bro, you don't even know who I am. I know that you're sending this message to every single person who has a a w it's like it's like s an automation you have set up and it feels entirely inauthentic. And like do you really think this is helpful? Like is this building connection? It just made me angry, Martin. And the more I talk about it fire it up. I don't blame you. And when people come out of the woodwork and like, oh, you know, such and such, I'd love to sell you this. And I'm like, I don't know who you are. Don't do that. I think you have a podcast. We've got a great guest. That'd be great to have on your show. Yeah. Yeah. So I totally agree with you. I just wish that because it is a reality in our lives, I wish people would just use it properly so that it could just be the thing that you go and check. You learn about the thing that you need from work or maybe you use it to get a job and then you move on. But this whole thing of let's drive engagement and play puzzles with each other, no. Yeah. Waste of time. Okay. So and so your actual answer the answer to your actual question here has LinkedIn ever actually helped anyone in their career? Um the way that you're thinking about? Probably not much unless it's like open to work and then all of these five hundred connections somehow get you some job somewhere, you know little banner that you set up. I set that up at one point just is like Well did you get a job? Nah. Well I did, but not through. There you go. There you go. So as much as it annoys me sometimes, it has helped me in what I am trying to achieve through my work. Okay. But no, it hasn't got me a job. So business corner, that that you are becoming the business guy, not me. Because I'm rebelling. I'm just doing my I'm getting very old and cynical about it too. I'm like rebelling against business. It's all a scam. It's just another social network and if you use it properly, it can be alright. But most people don't. Well speaking of social networks, I can change the pace a little bit. Oh, is this gonna be your LinkedIn premium subscription now? Exactly. I tried it for just zero dollars. It changed the whole world. LinkedIn, mate, once you buy once you pay for it, whew, and you get that little gold icon next to your name or whatever. Oh, that's the way to go. No, I want to talk about a different gold icon and a different social network. Remember we took we spoke about glass in our last episode. I do recall glass, yes. And I was questioning whether I should sign up for glass. Yes, and I said it'd be your third attempt. Are you sure you want to do that? Yes. You you tried to talk me out of it. You failed, Martin Feld about I'm glad, I'm happy to fail. I just I think it's thirty minutes after we finish recording, I signed up to Glass again. Yeah. And um I'm really enjoying it. It's fun. It's good. And um I've connected to Scott Hacker, who is a guest of Hemispheric Views back in the day. Yes. He's one of you know, so I've reconnected with him. So I've never reconnected with anybody on LinkedIn, but glass, there we go. Positive human exchange. Yeah, I will say, like, glass, uh it's a it's it's like any social network, you know, that um you know you just put photos up and you scroll through casually and you can easily go down a rabbit hole looking at things. But it's the only one that I can think of that is minimalist and chronological and you don't feel kind of guilty using for an extended period of time. I I always feel like when I go in there I learn something or pick up some sort of technique or creative idea or stumble across stumble across like a series or something. It's just I suppose what I'm saying is I'm glad you've gotten back into it. I was just like, I don't know if you want to go and spend it spend your money again, but it just feels calm when you It's a very simple interface. It looks really lovely. I I guess the one thing I look at it I'll ask you for advice. As I'm going through it, I'm like, how do I actually use this app? Like I feel like I need to be like how do I find the photos? You is it it's literally just tapping and scrolling and choosing a category or choosing a a fo uh type of camera and just looking at it. Is that is that am I doing it right? Well, yeah, it's uh i you raise a really good point because I think normally and I'm s speaking on behalf of you you here, you can correct me if I'm wrong in my assessment of you. Like we would normally like interfaces that aren't busy or over the top or difficult, but we would like functionality to be obvious or have buttons, right? Yeah, to reveal things. What do I do? Yeah. Exactly. But this lets the content shine through in a way that is a bit different, but for that reason, like I said on Mastodon a while ago, I made a post like I'm pretty sure, like in my mind that glass is the only app I can think of that really does liquid glass properly. They were kind of doing it even before liquid glasses. So there's just this little panel here, a bit of translucency and it just kind of scrolls through and you just discover stuff. Um it just feels very calm and it was made for that little floating pill panel thing over the top. But the side effect of that, as you say, is that it's like, well, how do I discover things or whatever? And I think it's because it is it's a different mentality from something like Instagram that's constantly delivering stuff to you that you may not know yet, or Flickr, for example, which is all about more more and metadata or albums or stuff in front of you. It's curated in the sense that there's an explore page. You've seen that before, that tab that throws up human curated or chosen things that they've spotted. You've got categories of cameras and lenses and people's series that they put there. I think it's more of a we're gonna get out of the way and let your feed be front and center, which I think is a good philosophy because you know, like when you look at your Apple TV now, I'd state still say that Apple TV is the best designed or like privacy-focused set-top box style thing that you can get, but it does annoy me still that you open the TV app and what's at the top row, like in the big banners. Not your stuff, the stuff they want you to watch. Yeah. Yeah. Yep. So I think it's almost difficult. Maybe difficult's too strong a word. It's a bit um it throws you off a bit when you open an app and it's just the stuff that you followed the way that it used to be. It's not throwing things at you. So I think my shorter advice, because I'm waffling way too much now is that when you use it, think what photos do I want to see? Like I really enjoy landscapes, I'll go and look at that category. Or I wonder what photos, this is something I like to do, I wonder what photos have been taken with the same gear that I have. Yeah. Yeah. So I'll go and look at my camera. Or I'll think, oh, you know, I really like using that 45mm lens. I'll go and see what else people took. And then from there I've gone, oh, that's what my camera lens is capable of. I might try that too. So it's more of a deliberate I have to think about what I like situation because it's not throwing stuff in your eyeballs. Well that's good good advice. your concern about spending the I think it's sixty bucks Australian on a subscription to glass. Um that was okay. I'm happy to pay that. Um especially so when Martin um look I've was going away this weekend. I went away just for a couple of days and I thought looking at all these glass photos and I was thinking about when I used to take a lot of photos with DSLRs. I used to have a Nikon D70 way back in the day. And then I upgraded that to a Nikon D7000. Ooh. And then I realized that I still had that Nikon D7000 sitting in a cupboard. And I thought, well I've got glass. I'm going away. Why don't I get out camera? I'm very pleased. So I did exactly that. First thing in the morning I pulled it out and then I realized and remembered why I hadn't one of the reasons I hadn't been using the D7000 was because of sensor dust. Ah yeah, that'll stop you. And it just was annoying. And I I had bought a while ago sensor dust cleaner and I tried to clean it myself. And I think maybe I moved the dust. There was certainly still the same amount of dust present. Maybe just in slightly different areas. And so I packed it away again. It was like too hard. But this time, because of the glass subscription. I was motivated. I was like, stuff it. I'm just gonna find a professional. And I just went in that moment, got the cat, found a professional, took it to them, rang them up first, yeah, bring it in, that's fine. Took it to them. Then realized that as I was leaving the house, literally I was like, the battery is flat. So I've charged the battery. I'm like, do I wait for the battery to charge to take it to them? I was like, nah, stuff it. I went emp battery less. I was like, that'll be able to they'll have a battery there. Buy a new one. Because I don't even know if it's any good. Get there. They don't sell batteries, Martin. They'd sold out of the one I need. Oh no. But they were able to sell me they had a second hand one that they'd obviously just been using for cases like this. The battery. Yeah. So you sold they sold me a second hand one for a cheap price. They cleaned the sensor and I'm back. Right. So now you have a spare battery. Yes. I've got two batteries. That makes a big difference, right? If you're traveling and you want to take it with you, that makes a huge difference. Because that's the other thing that will definitely discourage you, like, oh I've got to do this thing. Yeah, and take that up. 'Cause still the old yeah, plug it into the wall and chunk it in, you know, it's like a big And of course you took a power generator on your trip, didn't you? No, yeah, of course. You need everything pack it in. Absolutely. But then Martin, so that was that costing me a bit a bit of money. And then I was playing on the holiday, I was playing with my 35mm lens. It's a Nickor lens. Um, this is an APS C camera, is it? Uh I think so. I'm not sure So it has like a 1.5 times crop. So I've forgotten all the terminology. I'm out of the I'm out of the lingo. That's okay. But yes, it is, because it goes to 50 mil basically. Um and it wasn't focusing properly that the drop the motor of the lens was not reliably focusing and then it just conked out altogether and I realized that every other lens I've got two other lenses I've got the kit lens and then I've got a 300mm zoom lens and they were focusing well. I was like, oh no, did a little research. Apparently the drive in that those little lenses can die. That's really annoying. So what did I do, Martin? I went You bought a used one? I went onto eBay. And I I did a bit of research. I was like, do I upgrade it? And then ultimately I was just like, nah, just replace it. Just get exactly the same thing over again. Because it's and so that's shipping its way from Japan to me at the moment. Wonderful. Does this sort of thing when you get a second hand battery or a second hand lens, is this the sort of stuff that makes it onto your spreadsheet? Because we only ever hear about the new stuff. Do you have a tab for that? No, I don't. I'm not telling you you should. Please don't misunderstand me. Don't start a new thing if you don't already. But do you do that already? No, I'm putting this, I'm classing this as um disposable money. It's it's good. Thank goodness. Yeah. It's just it',s just you just I'm spending on entertainment. Great. Okay. I like that you said disposable money, because I think you've always hinted that's just Jason, right? So this is no, I'm just instant, instant write-off. You know, it's just like it's gone. Whew. Um so this all to say, this glass subscription, you were trying to save me sixty bucks. Right, which I appreciate. You've now cost me about three hundred and fifty bucks or something like that. So you, like as in me. Yeah, you've cost it. You've cost me. How? I said don't do it. But I did it. And that was led to all this other spending. No, no, I'm pleased. Look, I think it's um look, we all know that photography is an expensive hobby. Yes. But how do you feel doing it again? Oh, it's fun. It was fun. And I just when I took those first few photos, um and I was getting like proper lens boker and you know just being able to fiddle and I've I've forgotten so much of this camera and I've I just reset it all back to defaults, right? I was like, I did a firmware update. That was how old, that's how long it'd been sitting in the cupboard for. It needed new firmware. So I did all that, reset it. And it's just kind of like learning all over again. Everything I'd learnt, I'd forgotten. So I but then I still remember the basic, you know, aperture priority and all that kind of stuff. But it's almost like which button does what? And how do I get to that thing again? And what does that little icon mean? You know, just like it used to be familiar and it's not now. So it's just but I'm I'm much more relaxed about it. I'm not getting I'm shooting JPEG not raw. You know, because I've I realize that that is a slippery slope to like giving myself a job and I just want this to be fun. I don't want to spend hours like I used to editing every single photo in Lightroom, you know, from a raw image and all that. You just want to ha get enjoyment. And that's exactly what it should be about. You shouldn't feel pressured to do things in a certain quote unquote professional way. The other one thing I wanted to ask you about with regards to the camera lensing. Now I know you you you don't typically use a camera with interchangeable lenses now do you? Yeah I do. Oh you do? Okay. Yeah I use uh it's they work all the Limpus, they're OM system now, but that's micro four thirds, so that's a lens mount that you can swap. Yep. So how y given that I just got my sensor cleaned and I've been doing a bit of lens changing, how much anxiety should I have about dust once again re-entering the sensor. Don't. Okay. Just don't have Ye don't worry about it. Do you exist in a dust free environment, like one of those and that product testing things where you wear those little white things on your shoes? That has that suit. Yeah, no, I don't yeah like No so you get yourself a rocket blower and you just be as careful about it as you can and that's fine. What do you blow where do you blow with the rocket blower thing? Like you just do a little bit of uh so if you take your lens off and you're concerned about there being dust uh on either side, like on either element, the back or the front, then you just do a quick like your little You know what I'm talking about? Those little rocket blowers, you just pinch them to ball things. Yeah. And you just just in case I mean it's unlikely, but in case there's any detritus within the barrel or the spout or nozzle of that thing, then t t away from the lens and then you just blow it off gently. You could also use if you're you know comfortable to do so you have some proper kind of lens wipes that are you know for lenses or glasses you're probably fine with that. And if there's something actually like I suppose within the body of the camera, as long as you're not like sticking it in there and touching it or blasting things on it. If you kind of get over the a quick pump, yeah, like on an angle, that's okay. It's it's a fact of life that dust is gonna get somewhere. But I suppose if you do have a weather sealed camera, which yours would not be, that would mitigate against certain things. But the moment you open the body of a camera up to the world, like I think you're fooling yourself if you think nothing's gonna get in there. I'm just kinda holding it. So don't worry about it. I'm just holding it upside down, you know, kinda like lens down. Yeah, that's fine. And doing a quick change over, you know, that's kind of been my approach. But then if you rush, right, then you're more likely to drop the thing. Yes. So yeah. So point it down, sure, but don't freak out about it. It's all right. Okay. Okay, that's reassuring. Because I'm like, I just paid money to get my sensor cleaned. I don't want to get dust in it straight away. Oh yeah, but I mean it's an older camera, right? And you're probably using it very enthusiastically for ages and that just happens. So don't worry about it. But um look, I'm because like I work for a steel manufacturer and we go and do you know shots out in I don't want to say dirty environments because they're actually very well kept, you know, for what they are, but places that will have you know resources from the ground around the place depending on where you are in the whole process and we're going to take photos with weather sealed cameras, but eventually I have to swap lenses, right? We all do in our team. So you just kind of have to deal with it. And you just poop with the little rocket blow and you're set. Okay. I'll remember that. But look, I am glad that you've come back into this area because I don't want to sound like an elitist. I don't think it's necessarily better to take, you know, photos with the dedicated DSLR and mirrorless camera, but it's um I think it's more fun. Yeah. It changes ergonomically, it just feels better. It changes your pace. Yeah, it the pace is the thing. And then like and you I'm much more accepting like I got back and I've downloaded them to my my laptop and I'm like junk junk junk delete delete delete you know it's like you get one out of ten that you think oh that's good you know um it just being sort of more open to that, just like take a few, delete a few, who cares? You know, and you just in your own time and not have this huge workflow. I like I said, I used to use Lightroom a lot and I had a whole digital asset workflow, DAW, you know. Of course you did. Of course I did. This is the hobby, but I will manage it. Exactly. I had presets and had certain methods for approaching this. You know, you do your exposure curve and you do the little you know the little curve on the um the histogram and I do all that and then you and it was just like ste I was like spent more time like engineering the thing than taking photos and I don't want to fall into that trap again. Look, I find this is my personal approach. People might be yelling at me at this point if they're into photography, but I have always approached today as as long as I've been doing raw photos, I like to shoot most things in raw knot because I intend to be some you know high flying professional blah blah blah print it like this and do all these things with a dynamic range. I get sick of hearing about that. Like if the light was good on the day and you captured it, that's going to be a cool photo if you composed it well. Like no amount of raw metadata is going to save you if you took a bit of a crappy photo in the first instance. But if it's a matter of retrieving shadows or dealing with the highlights and stuff, that's what that's what I want to do. It's just about, oh, you know what? I had to whip out the camera quickly in the situation and grab a photo of the kids or something and it wasn't quite ideal and you could just save it. That's what it's that dynamic range of of being able to push at those stops that I like it. And you know, just the ergonomics of you want to get down low and do something at an angle, well you can try that with your phone, but then you can't really see your screen. Yeah. Right? Yeah. You want to bring it up to your eye, well that's going to hurt, isn't it? Because there's no viewfinder on a phone. I I just think Final question for your in long-winded photography order. What that's alright. Jason's gonna be pissed off that he's talking about. That's kind of what makes it great as well, right? Oh right. Um it'll no doubt come back as a topic. Oh yeah. What what what um what are you using to edit your photos with? You are using RAW, so I don't even know how Apple I know Apple photos can handle RAW. I don't know how good it is with it. Um yeah, great question. Uh I find, again, people will yell at me. Personally, for my own photos that I'm just taking with family, I generally stick things in photos, that's what my photo library is, and the tools there are great. Of course, it's not what Aperture once was. I accept it. I miss Aperture. But I like the key tools are there. Yeah? Okay. So in terms of synchronizing your library and doing all that stuff, it's great. Sometimes if there's a tool that doesn't exist there, I'll throw it into PixelMater Pro, right? And do some things there with resolution because PixelMator Pro has some of those Photoshop elements in it. In terms of image and canvas resizing, which is not in just a straight photo editor like photos. What I do use sometimes, but this is uh like sometimes on a personal basis, but more so in my work context, I use DXO Photo Lab, which I could not recommend more highly because you can just buy it up front, right? Yes, they come out with new versions every year and that I suppose you could consider it's like a subscription if you keep upgrading, but once you buy and download it, it's your copy. You don't have to upgrade to the next one. And that's got great tools in terms of noise removal, but without making it look all kind of AI fill generated um if you need to get rid of something. I'm not so diehard about that. Fantastic tools for, you know, sharpness and getting rid of certain types of chromatic aberration, you know, where you get that purple or green fringing depending on high contrast areas. Um that's really good, but again I don't sit there obsessing over everything with DXO. That's more of my worky workflow if I've got lots of photos And I've got to get careful 'cause that's exactly what I'm trying to avoid, is that that deep You don't need it. Okay. I'm gonna tell you now you don't need it. Okay, fantastic. Close that tab. Oh, if you want to, go for it. Spend the money. But um it's enough Martin, stop. Well no, the thing is okay, you just said you want to shoot in JPEG, right? Yeah, yeah. Then so no point. Yeah, I wonder how long I'll stay. I don't know whether that will last. That'll be an interesting challenge for me. Knowing that I'm not just decide based on what you're doing. Like I'm running around with the kids or doing something on holiday, just shoot JPEG if there's something kind of difficult or you want to go, oh, it's a bit dark, I want to have the room to you know move with the shadows or something. Yep. No, fair enough. Don't don't buy more if you don't need to. It's all right. Okay. So I'll report another question. So I've got a It's it's just turned you into interviewing me about photos. It really has. I've got a So now I have I will have tuned out now. I will have a dead lens, a dead thirty five mil lens. It still works. Glass is still perfect, just doesn't the drive motor seems inconsistent, if not entirely dead, do I just bin it or do I try and sell it on eBay for like 20 bucks? Uh I mean that's a good question. Like a lens, would that be classed as e-waste? It is supposed to be kind of like computers, yeah. So that's it that's kind of I would probably do that. I would take it to an e waste collection point. I don't know if Officeworks does that or your local council or something. Oh just look, I mean if it's twenty bucks or something, just return it you know to the cycle of life. Thank you, Martin. Thank you. But anyway, we started off with glass here. So are we gonna see lots more photos? Is this like a ritual for you now? I think so. I think if you look on my glass account, you will see that I have been uploading. And I want to say thank you to um our ambassador, uh UK ambassador Rob, who I'm freeloading from at the moment with his um what's that I can't remember the name of the service now. It's totally f gone off my mind. The one that sends services across different places. Shh Sends services across different places. It's got a it's got a name. Are we still talking about photos or something else? Yeah, yeah. So it what it does is it takes my RSS feed from glass and it cross-posts to Mastodon. Oh right. Okay. Oh my god, why can't I remember the name of it? And this is where we need Jason. Jason would remember. But you know I always want to make a joke about your knowledge management at this point, but I won't do that. Oh it's too late. So sorry Rob, but it's great. I love it. I love it. Yeah. So that's Rob. He's his thing me Bob takes my glass photo and chucks it onto Mastodon. And I've actually gotten people looking at it. And that's nice. It's great. It's good. It's it does its job. It's a nice place to meet people, discover photos, and just be nice in comments without algorithms. Yes. Not a sponsor. And I've got one more app update. This is probably one we should save somewhat. So this is more of a tease. So you know RSS is fun. We all know that. I I personally love it. Yeah. Yes. I'm into that. Um and forever I've used either Net Newswire or Unred, things like that. Current is a good one. Love that. Current, yes. I st I and I I still play with all of them. I still load them up and play with them. But the one I'm having the most fun with at the moment is the one that Jason is also having the most fun with at the moment. Tapestry. I I like how you y you put he's having fun with it at the moment very lightly there. Like I think it's almost you're wrong if you don't use it is what he said but yeah he was quite aggressive about it wasn't he but yeah that's great it's a it's a really nice app because it brings in microblog um it even brings in the um like some Reddit um channels if you're interested in Reddit, there's a couple of channels I'll follow. You can follow hashtags. You can follow Mastodon. I took out Mastodon and it calmed it down a lot. Yeah, it can get busy. Yeah. So I took that out. That works better. And then final actually another app corner I'm just like going crazy today, Martin. Um I feel like I'm a guest on your show. This is true. It does seem a bit that way. I got rid of Mona and I've subscribed to a year of Ivory. There you go. Are you a new man as a result? I've changed my I realize I've been changed my entire social media stack. So now I am Ivory Tapestry Glass. Absolutely. And uh Jason's back on iOS, what's going on? I know, it's crazy, isn't it? And I'm speaking with the same microphone, I started with. Yeah, there we go. It's fully depreciated, you know, you can get a new one now. It's fine, it works. Yeah, I know. Um ironically, do you see this microphone? This is the very first one I bought for our show. And then I went really? Yeah, yeah. And it's USB. And then I went through the upgraded XLR microphone. And then I got the the Rode one. No, not this is the Rode One. I got what was the fancy one I got? The Sure. Sure, yeah. Sure. S are you sure? Yeah. And then and I had the mixer and all that. I'm back to the bloody USB road pod the thing that just works. Yeah. Yeah, the Road Podcaster. From years ago. It's just and I'm sure if you did an audit of the entire listenership, maybe one person who has some bizarre hearing ability would be able to tell when anything changed without you telling anybody. I know. waste a lot of money, but that was a hobby at the time. Good now got a new hobby. Beautiful. That's great. Or a different recycled hobby. Well what I'd like to do to round out the show, uh what are you having for dinner tonight? Um, it I have to cook. It is um chicken and gnocchi bakine. What's the sauce? Cream sauce. A cream sauce? Now okay, here's the question. Are you more of a tomato or cream-based sauce I'm more of a cream sauce guy. Like bolognese, sure that's tomato, but most of the time I prefer a cream sauce. It's the sweet tooth in me. See I'm glad you said that because we are actually having spag bowl tonight. Oh really? Yeah. Okay, this is okay, hang on. And you said something there that raised so you just said spag bowl? Exactly, yes, the technical term. You don't call it spaghetti. Don't you call it spag bog? No. Spag bowl. I call it spag bog. 'Cause it's more fun. See bog to me is what you do in the toilet. Yeah, well that's what makes it fun. Spag bog. Spag already sounds like spit, so you've just people are very confused now. So the bog for anyone listening outside of Australia and probably New Zealand is where you go to do your number two. Correct. Correct. And it could be the place or it could be what you put in there. But spag, short for spaghetti, kind of sounds like spit. So you're going, it sounds like we sp'reitting in a bowl. Spag bowl, spaghetti bonus, but it sounds like you're spitting into the toilet. Now I'm gonna channel Jason now. So Jason will say So Australians, you shorten everything. You can't even say spaghetti anymore. Now you've got to say spag 'cause spaghetti's too hard a word. Bologna's that's too hard a word. You can't decide. Are you saying bowl or bog? Either way, it's shorter than bolognese. Just say bolognese and it solves the problem. But you're Australian, you won't do it. And I'm can I just say I'm really grateful that you didn't do it in a Texan accent just like I see I see spag I think what Jason and other Americans maybe miss or maybe they don't miss it. I don't know. It's just it's not so much that we can't be bothered, it's just more fun. Oh yeah. You've got to have fun with language. It's not just about communicating the exact precise meaning, is it? Oh well, yeah, I mean I'm quite into that too. Well But you can do that. You could do that in with in a joyful, playful way. No, look, sometimes I I I I do wonder if I'm actually Australian because people say stuff like, Hey go on mate and I'm like, I don't know you. Don't mate me. Oh my goodness. It's just 'cause I'm your name. No well they should ask. So you're gonna have spag bog tonight. So you've got a a little one. Does that mean that that there is going to be a flaw covered in red pasta sauce? Possibly. Yeah. Look, I mean we occasionally crack out the infant smock pretty good. Um maintains the uh the cleanliness of the clothes, but not the floor. But look, we have timber laminate for anyone who's wondering and it's pretty easy to wipe. That's good. And is is is she still eating with her f is it still like finger food? Well we've gone past Yeah, although she's in sh she's really into the whole stabbing and scooping things with forks now. Quite pleased with herself, which is good. I was just doing it today with a bit of an egg lunch that I prepared and she was very into it. Stab with the fork. Sense of achievement. Great. This is this is great to hear. Thank you. Just think another fifteen years and you'll be able to leave the house without children. Yeah. And your kids are using forks still? Uh yeah, they are, poorly. Okay, good. They still make a mess everywhere. It's just human beings, isn't it? Oh my goodness. Yeah. Like come on. Are you still in the whole dinner time etiquette thing, that's just a myth, the whole, you know, silverware and things on your lap and stuff whenever if we ever get like a table napkin out at a restaurant, I will sit there and do this little feld family tradition of like I will fling it out dramatically like a sail and then drape it across myself the way that like a butler or a maitre D would do. And now Natasha does it too, so we go and we're like flinging napkins and draping them across our our laps. It's great. Lovely. Just gonna lean into it because we all know crumbs are going somewhere. Don't lie to yourself. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um so is that where you do it Chicos? Is that the approach there? Oh, it doesn't matter how formal or casual it is, I'll do it if there's an application. Okay., all right Look forward to um having sharing a dinner with you once again in the future. I've had lunch with you, but never a dinner. Well pencil. I think I had cream spaghetti that day, actually, come to think of it. Come to think of it, I think you were into the creamy sauce at lunch. There we go, you see? Some things never change. Well, people have enjoyed a very fine episode today. Um there are two thirds of the uh the setup. You've had creamy sauce, spag bowl slash bog, uh glass, business corner with a LinkedIn twist. God we just keep delivering the goods. Several years in Can I say for Jason as well who will be listening to this later, um we're not we're done photocorner now, we're not going back to this. It's not this is not this is not a chance for him to come back in a fortnight with his series of questions, comments about glass, tapestry, photography. We're all done. We're moving on, right? Yeah, fair enough. Yeah, the topics are dead. He had his chance. Done and dusted. He could have just been here, but they're in the vault. He chooses to be at Riverdance. So bad luck. So that's actually interesting because you've pretty much challenged the entire policy or naming or brand of this show. It's called hemispheric views and you've completely cut off the possibility for another hemispheric view. Are you allowed to do that? I like to think I am. I like to think I wield infinite power. So really it's the interview show where someone from Western Australia talks to someone from New South Wales and the Americans not allowed to speak. Yes, it's like on board with that. Zach Galafanakis had the between two fans. Yeah. Ours could be between two coasts or something like that. Or yelling over Northern Territory in South Australia, that works. Just ignoring the middle of the country. It's nothing there anyway. Well I reckon that's it then. Alright. I think so. He's not turning up. Thanks for joining us everyone. Do you want to do the countdown? Or should I do it because you started? I don't know. I don't know. Like I think you should do it. Alright. Should I do it in a Texan accent? Do it yeah yeah yeah okay. Or your best Jason accent, whatever you're most comfortable with. Well if I do a Jason accent from your view, that is a Texan. So I'll go uh Okay. I'll say I'll say three, two, one, stop. That was more like Elvis. I don't know what that was.
