- 0:10Speaker 1: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast. I'm
- 0:13Speaker 1: Megan and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan. I'm Wendy, I'm
- 0:15Speaker 1: a former Hallmark hater. On today's episode, we're discussing Snowbound
- 0:19Speaker 1: for the Holidays, the third movie in the Hallmarks Christmas
- 0:22Speaker 1: in July lineup, which originally aired on Saturday, July eighteenth
- 0:27Speaker 1: on the Hallmark Channel and is now streaming on Hallmark Plus. Hey,
- 0:31Speaker 1: you should be following us on social media Pick your Poison, Instagram, Facebook, threads,
- 0:37Speaker 1: Blue Sky, where, Girls Gone Homemark everywhere. We also have
- 0:41Speaker 1: a Patreon. I encourage you if you just like our vibe,
- 0:46Speaker 1: like when we go on a tangent, you're like, yes,
- 0:48Speaker 1: that's Patreon, that is Patreon. We just recorded our episode
- 0:52Speaker 1: where we talk about it's called Approved and it's like
- 0:55Speaker 1: things we use and are loving right now. And it
- 0:58Speaker 1: was just like an hour episode of just talking and
- 1:01Speaker 1: then we sprinkled in some approved items. What are you
- 1:04Speaker 1: looking at my shoes?
- 1:05Speaker 2: What's happening?
- 1:06Speaker 1: What's happening? You're scary me. I don't know. It's a
- 1:11Speaker 1: piece of plastic, but it looks like in the shape
- 1:12Speaker 1: of a lizard. It was like flapping in the wind,
- 1:15Speaker 1: and it looks like flapping in the wind. There was
- 1:19Speaker 1: like a that was scary. Was that scary too? It
- 1:24Speaker 1: was like flapping Look a bug? Was like that terrified me. Okay,
- 1:29Speaker 1: that's what you can expect from Petreon. That's what you
- 1:32Speaker 1: can get on Patrion. Come join us over there. It's
- 1:35Speaker 1: patreon dot com. Slash Megan and Windy. I have a
- 1:39Speaker 1: question for you about Christmas in July. Yeah, what are
- 1:43Speaker 1: your thoughts overall? This is the third of four movies. Yeah,
- 1:49Speaker 1: it's been just pretty eh. I'm gonna be honest. The
- 1:54Speaker 1: unfortunate thing is there have been a lot of actors
- 1:58Speaker 1: I really like. Yeah, but the movies have been very
- 2:02Speaker 1: formulaic and predictable and forgettable. I hate to be the
- 2:09Speaker 1: Hallmark hater in this situation. I'm not a Hallmark hater.
- 2:12Speaker 1: I have actually enjoyed watching Christmas movies, although, as I
- 2:18Speaker 1: told Wendy earlier, I did make me go into a
- 2:19Speaker 1: little bit of a spiral about the fact that basically,
- 2:23Speaker 1: in my mind, as soon as school starts, it's christ Christmas. Yeah,
- 2:27Speaker 1: I feel like I need to start August first. I
- 2:31Speaker 1: enjoyed Christmas and my husband's watching a lot of Christmas movies,
- 2:34Speaker 1: and I've kind of enjoyed that element of it, but
- 2:37Speaker 1: I have not been particularly thrilled with the Christmas in
- 2:40Speaker 1: July lineup. Same. I kind of wish Hallmark would have
- 2:47Speaker 1: thought it through a little bit, either like do it
- 2:51Speaker 1: well or not at all. I agree with that because
- 2:55Speaker 1: we're dealing two of these movies have already aired. They're
- 2:58Speaker 1: all acquisitions. This movie was filmed in twenty twenty four.
- 3:03Speaker 1: I believe last week's movie also was filmed in twenty
- 3:06Speaker 1: twenty four. Correct, These are movies that have been sitting
- 3:09Speaker 1: on the shelf. Hallmark probably got a pretty good deal
- 3:12Speaker 1: on them, so financially, maybe they're looking at like, hey,
- 3:16Speaker 1: we made a little bit of money, or maybe we
- 3:18Speaker 1: broke even. We can say we had four new releases
- 3:22Speaker 1: in the Christmas in July lineup. We can add them
- 3:25Speaker 1: to our overall countdown to Christmas numbers. But Sleepy Kitty
- 3:30Speaker 1: Pa said it best where she was saying, look, maybe
- 3:34Speaker 1: this made financial sense, but at some point you need
- 3:36Speaker 1: to balance financial sense with viewer goodwill. And if you're
- 3:42Speaker 1: putting out direk yeah, then I think you lose some
- 3:47Speaker 1: of that good will. I think so too. I said,
- 3:49Speaker 1: do it well or not at all? Like, maybe don't
- 3:52Speaker 1: put Christmas in July. Have you always done this? I mean,
- 3:55Speaker 1: I know we've been doing this since twenty twenty, but yeah,
- 3:57Speaker 1: they've been doing it for a long time. And the
- 4:00Speaker 1: challenge on the business side of Hallmark is if you're
- 4:03Speaker 1: going to put out new movies, you're not going to
- 4:05Speaker 1: make the kind of money and you're not going to
- 4:07Speaker 1: get the kind of viewership you will during the Christmas season.
- 4:10Speaker 1: And so it feels like, well, we're not going to
- 4:11Speaker 1: put our good stuff out then, So I think that's
- 4:15Speaker 1: a bad plan. I do too, And I understand like
- 4:20Speaker 1: they've been promoting Tyler Hines movie, right, which is unfair
- 4:24Speaker 1: of me to call it Tyler Hines because the team
- 4:27Speaker 1: behind that is so killers. We're so excited for this
- 4:29Speaker 1: movie having seen there what it called again The Nights
- 4:33Speaker 1: Before Christmas? Thank You, it's Tyler Hines, It's Lazy Jmily,
- 4:36Speaker 1: It's written by Russell Hanlin, it's directed by Lucy Guests like,
- 4:40Speaker 1: this is a dream team on this movie. And I understand, like,
- 4:42Speaker 1: of course that's going to be a countdown a Christmas
- 4:45Speaker 1: tent pole, as is a grand Builtmore Christmas, don't I
- 4:49Speaker 1: make that name up? The Builtmore Revival, right like Lazy's
- 4:56Speaker 1: Disney movie. I understand that. I just think we need
- 5:00Speaker 1: to be having a discussion and maybe the end of
- 5:02Speaker 1: the day, like well the number shake out for us.
- 5:04Speaker 1: I really don't know. But it's been underwhelming. This movie,
- 5:07Speaker 1: I think so far was my favorite of the three
- 5:10Speaker 1: we've seen the same and honestly it was the cast
- 5:12Speaker 1: for me. It's not like the story was. Yeah, I agree, incredible. Overall,
- 5:17Speaker 1: it's been underwhelming, all right. You want to get into
- 5:21Speaker 1: Snowbound for the Holidays. I do. On that note, a
- 5:24Speaker 1: ski lodge owner faces financial ruin and possible loss of
- 5:29Speaker 1: his family's mountain retreat. As he grapples with mounting debt,
- 5:34Speaker 1: A savvy hotel executive arrives to assess the property, setting
- 5:38Speaker 1: the stage for an unexpected holiday adventure. Christopher Dureau directed
- 5:43Speaker 1: Snowbound for the Holidays. This movie marks his fifth directing credit.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Christopher was also the producer on last week's movie, Oh
- 5:49Speaker 1: Little Christmas. Market. He's only directed five movies. M hm,
- 5:53Speaker 1: He's got a ton of producing credits, got it? He
- 5:56Speaker 1: has the company that made this week's movie and last
- 5:58Speaker 1: week's movie, he was an EVP over there. He has
- 6:02Speaker 1: since left and sorted his own production company. Oh In
- 6:05Speaker 1: twenty twenty six, he and his wife Interesting Yes. Snowdown
- 6:09Speaker 1: for the Holidays was written by Courtney McAllister and Tim
- 6:11Speaker 1: Stubiniski Stubinski There it Is. Courtney has several holiday movie
- 6:16Speaker 1: credits under her belt, but this is the first film
- 6:19Speaker 1: for either rider to make its way to Hallmark. Vanessa
- 6:23Speaker 1: Langey's stars as Cassidy. We last saw her on Hallmark
- 6:26Speaker 1: and Take Me Back for Christmas in twenty twenty three.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Marcus Rosner stars as Trey Hallmark fans will recognize him
- 6:33Speaker 1: from Falling Like Snowflakes in twenty twenty four, and more recently,
- 6:36Speaker 1: he's been playing Liam on Sullivan's Crossing. Catherine Greenwood plays
- 6:41Speaker 1: Joanne with ninety two acting credits. She's currently appearing in
- 6:43Speaker 1: the series Ghosts. You may also recognize her from the
- 6:47Speaker 1: recent Lifetime movie When I Said I Do, starring Sarah
- 6:50Speaker 1: Drew Skywalker. Hughes plays Lily. She's currently starring as Mary
- 6:55Speaker 1: Ingles in the Netflix reboot of Little House on the Prairie.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Oh Ron Lee plays Sam. Ron has a staggering two
- 7:03Speaker 1: hundred and twenty six acting credits with five upcoming roles.
- 7:07Speaker 1: His last time on Hallmark was in the twenty three
- 7:10Speaker 1: Not So Royal Christmas. Kay Drummond appears as Mayor Robinson.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Hallmark fans recognize her from Christmas Island and to Have
- 7:18Speaker 1: and to Holiday. Hey, Wendy, what was your first impression
- 7:23Speaker 1: of Snowbound for the holidays? Forget the walkman, I just
- 7:28Speaker 1: know this man has an AOL email address. My first
- 7:33Speaker 1: impression is bonus points for real winter and real snow
- 7:37Speaker 1: in this Christmas in July movie. Excuse me, there was
- 7:41Speaker 1: a lot of digital snowjoh, there was a lot of
- 7:43Speaker 1: digital snow, yes, yes, but the other snow yes, yes,
- 7:46Speaker 1: it was definitely winter for sure. You sat down with
- 7:51Speaker 1: Marcus and Vanessa. I did you put out a little
- 7:55Speaker 1: mini episode last week? I did? How was your chat
- 7:59Speaker 1: with them so fun? We had seven minutes and seven
- 8:03Speaker 1: minutes as wild. It was a press junket style and
- 8:07Speaker 1: inside baseball. When Hallmark does these, they used to do
- 8:11Speaker 1: them where we would all be on the same call.
- 8:13Speaker 1: We would just rotate through all the podcasters and ask
- 8:15Speaker 1: our questions. That's not super ideal because you have no
- 8:18Speaker 1: idea what the other podcasters are gonna so I would
- 8:20Speaker 1: always have like thirty questions in case everybody else had
- 8:24Speaker 1: asked some version of my question. So now they're doing
- 8:27Speaker 1: these individual style, which I do like. But you got
- 8:30Speaker 1: to like you have between seven and ten minutes, and
- 8:33Speaker 1: so I really tried to make the most of our time,
- 8:35Speaker 1: and fortunately Marcus and Vanessa came to play. They were
- 8:38Speaker 1: both fun and engaged, nice, just we're having a good time.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Marcus even commented at one point he's like, I really
- 8:44Speaker 1: love the speed of which you're speaking to maximize what
- 8:48Speaker 1: we're going to get out of this. But they were
- 8:50Speaker 1: so fun. And if I can just say, we've talked
- 8:54Speaker 1: a lot recently about our soft spot for Marcus Rossner.
- 8:57Speaker 1: He was great in this interview. He did not seem
- 8:59Speaker 1: like just shown up to check a box. Although I'm
- 9:01Speaker 1: sure he was just shown up to check a box.
- 9:03Speaker 1: He wasn't giving like he was doing the job. I
- 9:05Speaker 1: appreciated it. But Vanessa Lengies, I don't know if we've
- 9:09Speaker 1: ever reviewed. Did we review Taking Back for Christmas? No?
- 9:12Speaker 1: That was a very cute movie. I liked it a lot.
- 9:15Speaker 1: She's a damn delight I very much enjoy her. She's
- 9:20Speaker 1: my number one, Like, uh huh, can we talk about it? Yeah?
- 9:23Speaker 1: I think I texted you and I was like, she's adorable. Yeah,
- 9:28Speaker 1: and like you said, we didn't you've watched that other
- 9:30Speaker 1: movie take Me what's it called? Take Me Back for Christmas?
- 9:33Speaker 1: I've never seen it. I think I would like it
- 9:36Speaker 1: based on like, yeah, she's so cute. Not even that.
- 9:40Speaker 1: I think the fans really liked that movie. Yes, and
- 9:44Speaker 1: I believe that was a Christmas in July movie? Was
- 9:46Speaker 1: it not like many years ago? Not many twenty twenty three?
- 9:50Speaker 1: I think it was a Christmas in July movie. Okay.
- 9:52Speaker 1: She made Cassidy easy to root for from the beginning.
- 9:56Speaker 1: She was very likable. I thought the sometimes that dialogue
- 10:01Speaker 1: was a little too polished, but I thought that Vanessa
- 10:07Speaker 1: made it sound like something a real person would say. Mm.
- 10:12Speaker 1: And I thought that she would react to her scene partners.
- 10:16Speaker 1: She wasn't just reciting lines yeah yeah. I just thought
- 10:19Speaker 1: that she made every interaction feel very genuine, like, especially
- 10:24Speaker 1: the stuff with the actress Skywalker Hughes, who plays the
- 10:28Speaker 1: daughter Lily, Like those scenes were super believable to me.
- 10:32Speaker 1: How old is Vanessa and I know you shit, she
- 10:35Speaker 1: corty what. My husband said the same thing. He goes,
- 10:39Speaker 1: there's a huge age gap here, and I was like, no,
- 10:41Speaker 1: there's not. He was like, Marcus is so much older
- 10:44Speaker 1: than she is. I was like, no, he's not. He's
- 10:46Speaker 1: younger than she is. Really, And so when I did
- 10:49Speaker 1: the interview, he goes ask her what her skincare routine
- 10:51Speaker 1: is because she looks your husk child. Yeah, oh my god,
- 10:54Speaker 1: that's hilarious. Did you ask I never listen to the
- 10:58Speaker 1: episode yet, No I did. There was no time for that.
- 11:00Speaker 1: But no, should we have Vanessa back on just to
- 11:04Speaker 1: chat with her for fun? I think she's a very
- 11:06Speaker 1: interesting human. I started following her on Instagram. I'm sad
- 11:10Speaker 1: that we weren't. She has a very cool vibe. She's
- 11:14Speaker 1: doing like I texted you last night, she's doing like
- 11:17Speaker 1: spirit readings or some sort of card readings, and she's
- 11:20Speaker 1: starting a TikTok for it. And you didn't text me
- 11:23Speaker 1: that up. Yes I did, and I'm shocked that you
- 11:24Speaker 1: didn't respond to be Karta told you that the name
- 11:28Speaker 1: of her TikTok is Big Deck Energy. God. I love
- 11:33Speaker 1: her already. I just ten points more for her and
- 11:36Speaker 1: she even was like, I love the name of her podcast.
- 11:38Speaker 1: So I appreciated that big deck energy, which is real
- 11:43Speaker 1: funny considering the Marcus Rolsner connect. If you know, you know,
- 11:48Speaker 1: if you listen to any of our reviews, a've a ride,
- 11:52Speaker 1: I kind of hope Marcus never has. I'm dying to know.
- 11:57Speaker 1: If you identify as a man and you hear someone
- 12:00Speaker 1: say that they think you have BDE, don't you kind
- 12:05Speaker 1: of take that as a compliment. Yeah, even as a woman.
- 12:09Speaker 1: What if someone had told me, Wendy, I feel like
- 12:11Speaker 1: you have BD I'd be like, fu, yeah I do.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I'm a bad you know what? Yeah, yes,
- 12:17Speaker 1: yes I do. It's meant as a compliment for sure, trutely,
- 12:22Speaker 1: but it just makes me a little bit uncomfortable, like
- 12:26Speaker 1: saying these things and then talking to the person I
- 12:29Speaker 1: would be more eloquent, which I don't often have the
- 12:32Speaker 1: capability of doing. But it's it's about his aura aura,
- 12:37Speaker 1: you know what I mean? Like, yes, it's a compliment,
- 12:40Speaker 1: full suore. So what did you think of Marcus in
- 12:43Speaker 1: this movie? I thought it was great in this movie,
- 12:46Speaker 1: to be honest, like you said, like I do have
- 12:48Speaker 1: like a soft spot for him. I've been in two
- 12:52Speaker 1: rooms with him, Yeah, never actually have spoken to him
- 12:55Speaker 1: face to face. I don't know how I missed that
- 12:57Speaker 1: opportunity last Yes, I do know how that opportunity did
- 13:01Speaker 1: not pan out last year. That's something we'll never talk about.
- 13:05Speaker 1: But we never got to really chat with him. No,
- 13:10Speaker 1: last year when we were in this threw no fault
- 13:12Speaker 1: of Marcus's. By the way, It's not like he was
- 13:14Speaker 1: like too good for anybody, No, no, not at all.
- 13:17Speaker 1: He was of the people right exactly. So I do
- 13:21Speaker 1: have a soft spot for him. And as I was
- 13:23Speaker 1: watching this movie, I was like, oh, I think I
- 13:24Speaker 1: love this movie. But I think it was like the
- 13:27Speaker 1: actors that many liked the movie. Yes a thousand I
- 13:30Speaker 1: really didn't love the movie, if I'm being I didn't
- 13:34Speaker 1: love the story, but watching it was very pleasant because
- 13:37Speaker 1: Marcus and Vanessa and some of the other actors too,
- 13:40Speaker 1: who will get to but I just thought they were
- 13:43Speaker 1: so fun to watch. There were a lot of fun elements,
- 13:46Speaker 1: but they had they had fun chemistry. They didn't have
- 13:49Speaker 1: like hot, steamy flying off the screen that write chemistry,
- 13:54Speaker 1: but they just seemed to be genuinely having a good time. Right.
- 13:57Speaker 1: They both seem like kind of cool. Yeah, I just
- 14:01Speaker 1: it was fun to watch, And that was the consensus
- 14:03Speaker 1: in our Facebook group too, that the movie itself, I
- 14:06Speaker 1: don't know if you saw the thread that was posted
- 14:08Speaker 1: this morning basically that the movie itself meh. But Marcus
- 14:11Speaker 1: and Vanessa were really fun and in fact, one of
- 14:13Speaker 1: our Facebook group members was like, Vanessa could carry a
- 14:16Speaker 1: series like one hundred percent. Yeah, I don't know why
- 14:19Speaker 1: she's not getting more made for Hallmark work because she's
- 14:24Speaker 1: a good question, good time, good question. And Marcus too,
- 14:28Speaker 1: to be honest, that's true. Marcus too, Like I told you,
- 14:32Speaker 1: he hasn't been on Hallmark since twenty twenty four. I
- 14:36Speaker 1: know he has like his own production company. And what
- 14:40Speaker 1: I really liked one first of all, in terms of Marcus,
- 14:43Speaker 1: I like that he's playing as this widow dad, the
- 14:46Speaker 1: single dad to a teenager. I love that and I
- 14:52Speaker 1: actually really thought these two together, Marcus and Skywalker, which,
- 14:58Speaker 1: by the way, that's such a cool name. Yeah, props
- 15:02Speaker 1: to her parents, who are I'm guessing Star Wars fans
- 15:06Speaker 1: do they call her sky I wonder, I don't know,
- 15:09Speaker 1: but it's just a cool name anyway. I just love
- 15:11Speaker 1: the dynamic the father daughter dynamic between these two. Mm
- 15:16Speaker 1: and while Marcus is great, I just thought the skywalker
- 15:19Speaker 1: Hughes was so adorable. She was excellent. Following a trend,
- 15:24Speaker 1: my husband did watch this movie with me. He declared
- 15:27Speaker 1: her the star of the movie. Oh, I just thought
- 15:29Speaker 1: she was a scenestealer. Like she's on screen, She's very strong.
- 15:33Speaker 1: She has the next Hallwark star vibes to her. Does
- 15:37Speaker 1: it make you want to watch Little House now on Netflix?
- 15:39Speaker 2: Kieff?
- 15:40Speaker 1: She plays big sister Mary Ingalls in it. We've had
- 15:43Speaker 1: a lot a lot of chatter from the Facebook group
- 15:46Speaker 1: of people wanting us to give a first impression of
- 15:50Speaker 1: Little House or review it, or asking us if we've
- 15:54Speaker 1: watched it and have heard that it's excellent, I would
- 15:58Speaker 1: like to watch it. I don't know if you and
- 16:00Speaker 1: I will be reviewing now. Life's whack you guys. We're
- 16:03Speaker 1: doing our best. Yeahing our best. Yeah, let's get back
- 16:07Speaker 1: to this movie. What else did you like? I'm a
- 16:10Speaker 1: sucker for a project based Hallmark movie. Oh mm hm.
- 16:14Speaker 1: So if you got a deadline, an event, a business
- 16:19Speaker 1: problem to solve, these are the kind of movies that
- 16:21Speaker 1: I'm most invested with. Christmas fest on Christmas Eve. That's
- 16:25Speaker 1: a problem. But I'm into a Christmas fest and like
- 16:30Speaker 1: trying to make it come together. I think it gives
- 16:33Speaker 1: stories structure and then it lets like a relationship unfold naturally.
- 16:40Speaker 1: So I was into that, and I thought Cassidy had
- 16:43Speaker 1: lots of ideas, and I was like, yo, Trey, you
- 16:46Speaker 1: need some help because your world is falling apart. So
- 16:49Speaker 1: let a thousand persons Cassidy help you do the damn thing.
- 16:54Speaker 1: What is on your leg? My dear?
- 16:58Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 16:58Speaker 1: Did you get a tattoo?
- 17:01Speaker 2: Oh it's a fight patch?
- 17:03Speaker 1: Oh did get a tattoo? Yeah?
- 17:08Speaker 2: I got a lady.
- 17:09Speaker 1: It's like, what's happening? Who was a bug bite? Patch? Hilarious?
- 17:18Speaker 1: They're children, but they were whatever, Dilgary, did you get
- 17:24Speaker 1: at touch? I was like, what is that? Well? I
- 17:26Speaker 1: was talking about Trey accepting Cassidy's help. Yes, she knew
- 17:31Speaker 1: what was going on, she knew what was up. Yes, yes,
- 17:35Speaker 1: that is absolutely in my wishes. I like that we
- 17:38Speaker 1: squashed our phobe for real quickly. Like Cassidy was like, oh,
- 17:42Speaker 1: the bell hop's gonna help me to my room. It's
- 17:45Speaker 1: kind of a silly mistake, Like you should know that
- 17:48Speaker 1: this small watch probably is like very the owners are
- 17:52Speaker 1: doing the work. Yeah, but I think she's from the
- 17:54Speaker 1: resort world though, so maybe she was envisioning a larger staff. Yeah,
- 17:59Speaker 1: but he kind of takes it in stride, like he's
- 18:02Speaker 1: kind of like thinks it's funny that she treats him
- 18:05Speaker 1: that way. And then the next morning she's like, I'm sorry,
- 18:06Speaker 1: I didn't realize we were and then it's over. Yeah.
- 18:09Speaker 1: I wouldn't even I didn't even clock that as beef. Really, yeah,
- 18:13Speaker 1: it was. It was pretty mild, but we weren't like
- 18:15Speaker 1: manufacturing conflict here. I have one more light m I
- 18:21Speaker 1: actually thought the Walkman scene was surprisingly sexy without trying
- 18:25Speaker 1: too hard. You know, when he puts the Walkman on
- 18:28Speaker 1: her ears and then they do have like this awkward
- 18:31Speaker 1: like dance, but then like he pulls her in, and
- 18:34Speaker 1: I thought it was kind of sexy. It like gave
- 18:37Speaker 1: them some room, they're chemistry, room to breathe a little bit.
- 18:43Speaker 1: I gotta tell you, I really liked the Walkman. I
- 18:45Speaker 1: liked it as a set piece. I liked it as
- 18:47Speaker 1: a character defining element for Tray my final like, I
- 18:54Speaker 1: loved the snow tubing scene. Did you I did. I
- 18:56Speaker 1: thought it was really fun it translated. It looked like
- 19:00Speaker 1: they were having a genuine good time. The other time,
- 19:05Speaker 1: you know, when Cassidy Tray gives Cassidy the lights to
- 19:08Speaker 1: untangled and he turns around and she's like all tangled up, yeah,
- 19:11Speaker 1: and he comes over and he's like, let me help
- 19:12Speaker 1: you out, and like she kind of laughs. It looks
- 19:14Speaker 1: like a real laugh and not. I just thought it
- 19:16Speaker 1: was a very cute moment. It's in one of the
- 19:19Speaker 1: promos for the movies if you've seen it. They have
- 19:21Speaker 1: a lot of really cute moments together.
- 19:23Speaker 2: I really did.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I wouldn't have guessed, Like if you're lining up
- 19:27Speaker 1: all the Hallmark stars and you're like match them up,
- 19:30Speaker 1: I'm not sure I would have put these two together.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Oh really, I thought they were very cute together. Yeah,
- 19:35Speaker 1: let's take a quick break and we'll come back to
- 19:36Speaker 1: talk about our wishes. Okay, you mentioned it, but Trey
- 19:48Speaker 1: needed to be willing to accept Cassidy's help much sooner.
- 19:51Speaker 1: You can't have it both ways. You want to keep
- 19:54Speaker 1: the lodge. The lodge isn't making enough money. The lodge
- 19:58Speaker 1: is falling apart. You're trying to run this festival. You
- 20:01Speaker 1: need help, she's here, she's willing. Just let her do it. Man,
- 20:06Speaker 1: let me piggyback on top of that, because throughout this
- 20:10Speaker 1: entire movie, I never completely understood what Trey was trying
- 20:13Speaker 1: to save. Here. Many times in the movie they talk
- 20:16Speaker 1: about like preserving the lodge, right, and at one point
- 20:20Speaker 1: he says like, this is where Lily grew up. This
- 20:23Speaker 1: is you know. I don't want to take her home
- 20:24Speaker 1: away from her. And I was like, oh, okay, that's
- 20:26Speaker 1: that's what we're trying to save. And then at another
- 20:30Speaker 1: point he's talking about like, oh, no, the lodge is
- 20:34Speaker 1: about like the heart of the people and connecting with
- 20:37Speaker 1: the people and like doing this and whatever. His motivation
- 20:40Speaker 1: was unclear, totally to me, totally unclear. I was like, sir,
- 20:46Speaker 1: you don't have electricity, Yeah, you need to You need
- 20:50Speaker 1: some help here, you know. And he's talking about like, oh,
- 20:54Speaker 1: it's really not the community, that's the wrong word. But
- 20:58Speaker 1: like our guests that like have a experience while they're here.
- 21:01Speaker 1: I'm telling you, as a guest, if I booked a
- 21:04Speaker 1: vacation and then they lost electricity and I'm standing then
- 21:07Speaker 1: the lobby with my phone flashlight, asking what the hell's happening,
- 21:12Speaker 1: and he's trying to like it's a one star Yelp review,
- 21:16Speaker 1: like I'm not coming back like this is well, especially
- 21:19Speaker 1: because me right, especially because losing electricity wasn't their fault,
- 21:23Speaker 1: like it was a power company. I know. But you
- 21:25Speaker 1: need to be prepared, like you need to have the
- 21:26Speaker 1: backup generator so that your guests experience isn't interrupted because
- 21:31Speaker 1: you're offering a hospitality experience. They had so many things
- 21:35Speaker 1: working against them, like things were falling apart, and they
- 21:39Speaker 1: also didn't have enough guests and they they just had
- 21:42Speaker 1: to make all this money. And he was so digging
- 21:46Speaker 1: in on like a I'm a real analog guy, like
- 21:49Speaker 1: here's my notebook. Well it's not working. Yeah, and again
- 21:54Speaker 1: he got there. It just took maybe like a beat
- 21:56Speaker 1: too long. He maybe was digging in just like a
- 21:58Speaker 1: little bit too much. And Cassidy was so she was like, yeah,
- 22:00Speaker 1: I sent you to spreadsheet, but here I printed it
- 22:03Speaker 1: out for you too, Like that's the boats worlds here,
- 22:05Speaker 1: we have it all, Like we can make your world
- 22:09Speaker 1: work with you know, with the new era. But you're
- 22:13Speaker 1: gonna need a spreadsheet. You're gonna need to digitize some
- 22:16Speaker 1: of this well, and this this is such a like
- 22:20Speaker 1: a pet peeve of mine. But when like, businesses don't
- 22:22Speaker 1: have a social media presence, yes, and she's like, oh,
- 22:25Speaker 1: I created this for you or whatever, and he's so
- 22:28Speaker 1: like anti right, maybe reminded me of somebody, But I
- 22:35Speaker 1: was like, I don't know how you're doing business in
- 22:39Speaker 1: twenty twenty six. Yes, without a social media presence, it's
- 22:44Speaker 1: free promotion. Yeah, you know, and your guests needs someone
- 22:48Speaker 1: to tag when they're like taking their family photos. They
- 22:50Speaker 1: need to be able to tag your lodge so somebody
- 22:52Speaker 1: else can recreate that experience exactly. So I do find
- 22:58Speaker 1: the analog of it all kind of fun. But also
- 23:02Speaker 1: I don't want it to be a hindrance to his
- 23:06Speaker 1: success either. Yes, agree, agree on all points. Have you
- 23:11Speaker 1: ever skied? Yeah, once or twice. So I learned to
- 23:15Speaker 1: ski as an adult. I was in my mid twenties.
- 23:19Speaker 1: I snowboarded as a teenager. I was not good at
- 23:21Speaker 1: either of those things. Okay, let me be very clear.
- 23:23Speaker 1: I learned to snowboard with some friends. We've all heard
- 23:26Speaker 1: the story of me falling off the ski lift and
- 23:29Speaker 1: then five minutes later breaking my wrist in a separate.
- 23:31Speaker 2: Fall in Tahoe.
- 23:33Speaker 1: I've never heard the story. Oh, sure you have. I
- 23:36Speaker 1: was in college. My parents and I were going to Tahoe.
- 23:39Speaker 1: I invited a boy who I was like, not dating,
- 23:42Speaker 1: you know, one of those like refused to define the
- 23:44Speaker 1: relationship situations. Getting on the ski lift, I was with
- 23:48Speaker 1: said boy and my brother and we got separated. So
- 23:52Speaker 1: I was by myself on this ski lift on Black Diamond.
- 23:55Speaker 1: How by yourself? And I hesitated getting off the ski
- 23:59Speaker 1: lift because I had the worst part, and I panicked,
- 24:02Speaker 1: and so I jumped and kind of like tumbled down
- 24:05Speaker 1: the hill a little bit. I was fine. Less than
- 24:08Speaker 1: five minutes later, I would fall so spectacularly that every
- 24:12Speaker 1: my hat was in one direction, goggles in another direct.
- 24:14Speaker 1: This is pre helmets, y'all. Everything was off, and I
- 24:18Speaker 1: was like an imprint in the snow. Had to be
- 24:20Speaker 1: snowmobiled off the mountain. Oh. My mom had to take
- 24:23Speaker 1: me to urgent care. And when we came back and
- 24:27Speaker 1: I'm in a brace to pick up the rest of
- 24:30Speaker 1: our family, one of the snow patrol guys was like, oh,
- 24:32Speaker 1: were you the one who fell off the lift? And
- 24:34Speaker 1: I said yes, and he goes, oh, is that when
- 24:37Speaker 1: you broke your wrist, and I said, actually no, I
- 24:40Speaker 1: had to admit that I'd fallen twice that day. Anyway,
- 24:43Speaker 1: I learned to ski as an adult, and I famously
- 24:46Speaker 1: said skiing would be great if there was not a
- 24:47Speaker 1: single other person on the mountain. Nobody's learning to ski
- 24:51Speaker 1: in one day like sweet Cassidy did. Yeah, she just
- 24:55Speaker 1: like took off for it. Obviously. She all her shots
- 24:58Speaker 1: are real tight. And by the way, Vanessa is pregnant
- 25:02Speaker 1: filming this, so they're not going to put her on
- 25:04Speaker 1: real skis. Vanessa said that in our junket, I'm not
- 25:07Speaker 1: like feeling like secrets that I found out. She was
- 25:11Speaker 1: very open about that, and they even said, like, oh,
- 25:14Speaker 1: that's why she was like, oh, it's brisk, and then
- 25:17Speaker 1: puts like a cover over her face that's not really
- 25:19Speaker 1: obviously it's not really her skiing. So like the cover
- 25:22Speaker 1: on the face is like hiding whoever the body double
- 25:25Speaker 1: is yes, yes, yeah, I got it. Marcus said he
- 25:28Speaker 1: had doubles too. They both had doubles for their skiing moments.
- 25:31Speaker 1: I would love to see someone who's actually you know,
- 25:33Speaker 1: like flashback to that finding Mister Christmas moment where they
- 25:36Speaker 1: put those guys on skis in that scene and they
- 25:38Speaker 1: have to like slide in as the snow patrol. Yeah.
- 25:42Speaker 1: I would love to see someone actually learning to ski
- 25:44Speaker 1: and they're just like, you know, pizza ing their way
- 25:47Speaker 1: down totally. Here's my other big wish is that when
- 25:51Speaker 1: Cassidy discovers that Asherton's plans are more ambitious than everybody realize.
- 25:57Speaker 1: I expected this to be like the big turning point
- 26:00Speaker 1: of the movie, like all this guy is trying to
- 26:03Speaker 1: do you dirty, and it's just as like a whiff
- 26:07Speaker 1: of a you know, like she tells I can't even
- 26:10Speaker 1: remember her mom. Maybe I went over there and I
- 26:14Speaker 1: heard this this this like show us this, don't just
- 26:18Speaker 1: tell us this anyway. I just thought it was not
- 26:23Speaker 1: that satisfying. All right, let's talk to you see that. Okay.
- 26:27Speaker 1: First of all, the mayor gives her a big speech
- 26:29Speaker 1: and she's like, we sold two hundred and seventy five
- 26:32Speaker 1: lantern which is a lot of money, by the way,
- 26:33Speaker 1: because they were like ten dollars each. Yeah, but then
- 26:36Speaker 1: they light like twenty of them. Yeah, they like show
- 26:39Speaker 1: the sky and it's just like a row. I was like, good,
- 26:44Speaker 1: get some bee roll of some lanterns in this guy totally.
- 26:47Speaker 1: I understand we're not gonna see all there. You're just
- 26:49Speaker 1: gonna see a couple of people lighting them. But at
- 26:51Speaker 1: least give like a big, big scene of all these
- 26:55Speaker 1: lanterns flying through the air. You know, I know we've
- 26:57Speaker 1: talked about lanterns before. First of all, like, is this
- 27:00Speaker 1: I think that they do in southern California? Because I
- 27:02Speaker 1: just feel like that's a fire waiting to happen. I
- 27:04Speaker 1: think so too. I don't understand, like do they just
- 27:06Speaker 1: like burn out? I don't, but then it would wouldn't
- 27:09Speaker 1: it still be hot where it lands? I don't know.
- 27:12Speaker 1: They they make me nervous too, honestly, whenever I see them,
- 27:16Speaker 1: We're in like such a fire prone area. I can't
- 27:20Speaker 1: imagine like I would like to participate in one, though
- 27:23Speaker 1: I think they do. They're beautiful, Yes, they look fun.
- 27:26Speaker 1: I kind of feel like I've seen social media ads
- 27:28Speaker 1: for them happening. Maybe they happened like at the beach. Oh,
- 27:31Speaker 1: but then then they land in the ocean, unless they
- 27:34Speaker 1: were like whatever what else you got? This is just
- 27:38Speaker 1: this a nitpicky thing. But that Asherton, I don't know
- 27:42Speaker 1: what his name is. The bad guy hm hmmm, the
- 27:44Speaker 1: rival lodge owner. He talks about how like they're having
- 27:48Speaker 1: an issue, like all these lodgers are drawing too much
- 27:50Speaker 1: power in the power company. He's like, preserve power. And
- 27:52Speaker 1: then they're like, well, Ashertons started all these new events
- 27:55Speaker 1: like snowmobiling and sleigh rides pulling up extra electricity. Could
- 27:59Speaker 1: you not have thought of something else that he's using
- 28:01Speaker 1: to pull extra electricity? Because neither of those things snowmobiles,
- 28:05Speaker 1: gas right rides, horses. I' what is happening here? Like
- 28:09Speaker 1: pick something else? Be like he put up one hundred
- 28:12Speaker 1: thousand Christmas lights and it's yeah, yeah, yeah something Yeah.
- 28:16Speaker 1: By the way, Trey does the same thing, because Trey
- 28:19Speaker 1: at the beginning, they kind of hint at this because
- 28:23Speaker 1: Trey says, oh, the power company says not to like
- 28:26Speaker 1: use excess electricity, and he's like, we're not using any
- 28:28Speaker 1: more than we usually do. And then that's kind of
- 28:30Speaker 1: a clue that like something in nefarious is going on.
- 28:33Speaker 1: And that's but then you know, shortly thereafter, Cassidy's like,
- 28:37Speaker 1: we gotta get this place decorated and they put up
- 28:40Speaker 1: all these lights outside. Yeah, like we're not conservating electricity.
- 28:43Speaker 1: I understand you do need the lights, but maybe there
- 28:46Speaker 1: was a the stories aren't lining up here. Yes, I'm
- 28:49Speaker 1: just nitpicking. I'm gonna keep going. Sure, making a mistake
- 28:55Speaker 1: on a social media post, as Cassidy does, first of all,
- 28:58Speaker 1: I was like, of course, this guy's so anti social media.
- 29:01Speaker 1: She puts up all these posts. She makes a mistake.
- 29:03Speaker 1: People show up a day early. That's my nightmare. And
- 29:05Speaker 1: I did that. I messed up a podcast episode last week.
- 29:09Speaker 1: So I was like, well, this is my living nightmare
- 29:11Speaker 1: right here. She's like, oh, I must have put the
- 29:15Speaker 1: wrong day down. I mean, that's a detail that should
- 29:20Speaker 1: be checked in, double checked. Absolutely. Now I have a
- 29:23Speaker 1: question for you, Sam and Joanne. At one point, it's
- 29:27Speaker 1: I think it's right after the walkman scene that you
- 29:29Speaker 1: talked about earlier. Yeah, they walk up and off camera
- 29:32Speaker 1: you hear Sam say, are you finally ready to marry me? Okay,
- 29:35Speaker 1: I don't, and then it's never addressed, and they're like,
- 29:39Speaker 1: it's never addressed again. I don't even know if I
- 29:41Speaker 1: caught it, Like, was there a conversation that was that
- 29:45Speaker 1: was cut? Oh? Maybe because they did have history, like
- 29:49Speaker 1: she like, yeah, loved him that picture children or whatever, Right, yes.
- 29:56Speaker 1: I don't know if that's just like a joke from
- 29:58Speaker 1: their childhood. There's more story anyway, Tell me what you
- 30:01Speaker 1: got The Walkman scene when they she he puts the
- 30:05Speaker 1: he puts the headphones on her. They're on backwards, Like
- 30:09Speaker 1: do you remember how like a Walkman headphone would sit
- 30:12Speaker 1: on your ears? And like there's clearly like a right
- 30:15Speaker 1: and a wrong. Yes, they're angled in a certain direct. Correct.
- 30:19Speaker 1: I mean it, it's not that big of a deal.
- 30:21Speaker 1: He could have just turned them, especially because they're not
- 30:23Speaker 1: actually playing music, right. But man, Like I had such
- 30:28Speaker 1: a like vivid memory of like the scratchy foam it
- 30:32Speaker 1: kind of like our microphone cover thing right now, like
- 30:35Speaker 1: that scratchy foam on your ears. Wow. Another Walkman scene
- 30:39Speaker 1: that I thought was really funny is you know when
- 30:42Speaker 1: she goes chasing down the hill after him and he's
- 30:44Speaker 1: skiing and she's like yelling after him. We get a
- 30:48Speaker 1: POV like he's listening to his Walkman, but we get
- 30:51Speaker 1: the POV of like what he's listening to, like, and
- 30:54Speaker 1: it's like it might even be like Christmas music or
- 30:56Speaker 1: something like that. I just laughed out loud because I
- 30:59Speaker 1: thought it was a funny technique to show like he's
- 31:03Speaker 1: just lost in his own world of like listening to
- 31:06Speaker 1: his music. And I don't think it's unheard of. I
- 31:08Speaker 1: think a lot of like skiers and snowburders like listen
- 31:10Speaker 1: to right, it was just so funny. I just thought
- 31:13Speaker 1: it was really funny. If they're not got the wind
- 31:16Speaker 1: whipping in ers wouldn't be able to hear it anyway,
- 31:22Speaker 1: Blink and you will miss it. But at one point
- 31:25Speaker 1: when they show like the Christmas Fest booths, there's a
- 31:30Speaker 1: can of man Witch. Do you know what man witches? Yeah,
- 31:33Speaker 1: like like sloppy Joe in a can on the on
- 31:37Speaker 1: on one of the counters of the how bizarre. I
- 31:40Speaker 1: was like why why? I'm like did he even? They
- 31:45Speaker 1: must sell it? Still still maybe in Canada? Might bet
- 31:49Speaker 1: they sell Manwitch. I feel like I used to see
- 31:51Speaker 1: commercials for it, like during the prices Right, Yeah, totally
- 31:54Speaker 1: And one last did you see that if you only
- 31:57Speaker 1: watched with subtitles, which I did. It's still available dollar
- 32:01Speaker 1: ninety nine at Ralphs. By the way, what do you
- 32:04Speaker 1: Does it have meat inside of it or is it
- 32:06Speaker 1: just like a saucepace that you add to ground beef?
- 32:09Speaker 1: The image looks like it has meat hold on sloppy
- 32:11Speaker 1: Joe's sauce. Just mix this can sauce with lean ground
- 32:15Speaker 1: beef or ground turkey, then heat and serve. Okay, meat
- 32:18Speaker 1: not included. Meat not included. My last did you see that?
- 32:22Speaker 1: Is a subtitle. It's when Cassidy's is looking for looking
- 32:27Speaker 1: for Trey and somebody is like on a walkie like
- 32:30Speaker 1: they're like, son, but I got eyes on tray and
- 32:34Speaker 1: they say, yeah, he's in the ski shop. But on
- 32:36Speaker 1: the subtitle it says he's in the tea shop. And
- 32:39Speaker 1: I just laughed. I was like, wait, does this lodge
- 32:41Speaker 1: have like a tea situation? And the next thing he's
- 32:44Speaker 1: like cleaning skis or something. I was like, oh, ski
- 32:47Speaker 1: shop And I didn't have captions the line a lodge
- 32:52Speaker 1: with a tea but the tea shop is kind of
- 32:55Speaker 1: appealing to me. Sure, And that's tell them to get
- 32:59Speaker 1: on that. Yeah, Trey, you need a t shop. That's
- 33:03Speaker 1: all I got. He's like, I got my I got
- 33:05Speaker 1: my lobby, hot coco lobby hot cocoa with a label
- 33:09Speaker 1: that you write your name on, but they put the cocoa.
- 33:13Speaker 1: Did you notice it's in like a glass carafe. No,
- 33:17Speaker 1: I didn't notice like a glass drink dispenser. I'm like, oh,
- 33:21Speaker 1: I understand that they wanted people to know that it's
- 33:23Speaker 1: hot cocoa, but it needs to be in a in
- 33:25Speaker 1: one of those what is that called, like a what
- 33:29Speaker 1: is that called? I don't I know? Silver ones. Yes,
- 33:33Speaker 1: that's insulated. Yeah, stay's hot. Yeah, because I don't want
- 33:37Speaker 1: room temp coco ew Okay, what did you rate this movie?
- 33:41Speaker 1: I gave it three point twenty five stars? Me too.
- 33:44Speaker 1: It was the best that we've gotten so far. Not
- 33:48Speaker 1: one that I would seek out again, but like, if
- 33:49Speaker 1: it came on like in December, give me more Markers
- 33:53Speaker 1: and Vanessa, Yeah, I agree they Skywalker. Yep. Hey, thanks
