- 0:00Speaker 1: CREATIVE MIND By Ernest S. Holmes INTRODUCTION The hand of
- 0:06Speaker 1: eternal progress is brushing the cobwebs from the corridors of
- 0:09Speaker 1: time and is again revealing to the human race the
- 0:12Speaker 1: mysteries of being. As there is nothing new under the sun,
- 0:16Speaker 1: the searchlight of truth is bringing to light only what
- 0:19Speaker 1: has been known to the few in all generations. The
- 0:22Speaker 1: time has now come when the few must become the many.
- 0:26Speaker 1: The whole world, from the least to the greatest, must
- 0:29Speaker 1: know the truth, so that man may understand the great
- 0:32Speaker 1: laws that govern his life. He must learn to control
- 0:35Speaker 1: his own destiny, to heal his own body and bring
- 0:38Speaker 1: happiness to his own soul. Ignorance must vanish and understanding
- 0:43Speaker 1: must be ushered in. Man is no longer to be
- 0:46Speaker 1: governed by anything outside himself. Creeds, doctrines, churches, institutions, organizations,
- 0:53Speaker 1: governments are all being changed to give place to the
- 0:56Speaker 1: realization of the individual. There is a power in and
- 1:00Speaker 1: through all that is working this great transformation. All that
- 1:04Speaker 1: will not measure up to the standard must fall by
- 1:06Speaker 1: its own weight, all that is in line with the
- 1:08Speaker 1: truth must still prosper. The time is at hand, we
- 1:12Speaker 1: are in the greatest age of all history, we are
- 1:14Speaker 1: in the age of the unifying of all people and
- 1:17Speaker 1: all things into the ever-present one. The temple not made
- 1:21Speaker 1: with hands is now being silently builded by the emancipated
- 1:24Speaker 1: souls of this planet. This little book is an attempt
- 1:28Speaker 1: to explain what each soul must discover for himself, that
- 1:31Speaker 1: he stands in the midst of an eternal creative power
- 1:34Speaker 1: which presses itself around his own thought, and casts back
- 1:37Speaker 1: to him glorified all that he thinks. If it awakens
- 1:40Speaker 1: within the consciousness of one single individual the realization that
- 1:44Speaker 1: the mind of the universe, which is the only mind
- 1:46Speaker 1: that there is, is his own mind, that the creative
- 1:49Speaker 1: power of this mind is his also. That the manifestation
- 1:53Speaker 1: of this mind is his own individuality, that the love
- 1:56Speaker 1: and power and peace of this mind is within himself,
- 1:59Speaker 1: it will not be written in vain. May it then
- 2:02Speaker 1: do much in simplifying and bringing to light some of
- 2:04Speaker 1: the deeper mysteries and meanings of life. Ernest S. Holmes,
- 2:09Speaker 1: October 1, 1918 Part 1 In the Beginning Introductory In
- 2:17Speaker 1: the beginning, God. Clear and expressive are these words. In
- 2:23Speaker 1: the beginning, God only. No manifest universe. No system of planets.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Nothing of form or life, of brute or man. God
- 2:34Speaker 1: was the spirit of all that was to be, but
- 2:36Speaker 1: he had not yet moved upon the waters. Then this
- 2:40Speaker 1: all being moved, or began to create. Where did spirit move,
- 2:44Speaker 1: upon what did it move to create, where did it
- 2:47Speaker 1: get a pattern, what means or power did it employ?
- 2:51Speaker 1: Through what agencies did it work? In short, What is
- 2:55Speaker 1: the world, ourselves included, made out of, and how did
- 2:58Speaker 1: we and all else come into being? These questions correctly
- 3:02Speaker 1: answered would solve the problem of being and set men free.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Let us consider. The spirit was all, there was nothing
- 3:10Speaker 1: else but itself. All-inclusive, everywhere, infinite. This all-spirit could not
- 3:16Speaker 1: have had the impulse to move unless it were self-conscious,
- 3:19Speaker 1: therefore the spirit is the power that knows itself. it
- 3:24Speaker 1: is accordingly all-knowing as well as all-present. Being one, undivided,
- 3:28Speaker 1: whatever it knows, it knows all over instantly. We find
- 3:33Speaker 1: then that the spirit operates through self-knowing. It moves, and
- 3:37Speaker 1: that inner movement must be one of infinite power, moving
- 3:40Speaker 1: upon itself since it is all and with a definite purpose.
- 3:44Speaker 1: The spirit, then, moves upon itself, and makes out of
- 3:47Speaker 1: itself all that is made. In other words, what we
- 3:51Speaker 1: see comes from what we do not see, through some
- 3:54Speaker 1: inner intelligence at work, which knows there is no power
- 3:57Speaker 1: but itself. The things that are seen are not made
- 4:00Speaker 1: of the things that do appear. The only possible operation
- 4:04Speaker 1: of intelligence is thought, or the word. So all things
- 4:08Speaker 1: were made by the word, and without the word was
- 4:10Speaker 1: not anything made that hath been made. How simple the
- 4:14Speaker 1: process of creation when we understand it. The spirit speaks.
- 4:20Speaker 1: And since there is nothing but the spirit and it
- 4:22Speaker 1: is all power, it has only to speak and it
- 4:24Speaker 1: is done, the word was with God and the word
- 4:26Speaker 1: was God. From the word, then, comes forth all that appears.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Each life, human or divine, each manifestation is a different
- 4:36Speaker 1: kind of word coming into expression. The great fact to
- 4:39Speaker 1: dwell upon is that spirit needs nothing to help it,
- 4:42Speaker 1: it is self-conscious and has all power and all ability
- 4:45Speaker 1: to do whatever it wishes to accomplish. It operates simply
- 4:49Speaker 1: by speaking. It is hard to get a clear concept
- 4:53Speaker 1: of this great ceaseless cause, this something from which all
- 4:56Speaker 1: things come, at times we get into a maze of
- 4:58Speaker 1: confusion when we attempt to realize what the spirit means.
- 5:02Speaker 1: It is then that we should think of it as
- 5:04Speaker 1: the great reason behind everything. Being all knowledge it must
- 5:08Speaker 1: know itself, and must know everything it creates, so it
- 5:11Speaker 1: knows us and it knows everyone. Since it is all
- 5:15Speaker 1: presence we can contact anywhere and will never have to
- 5:17Speaker 1: go to some particular spot to find it. As it
- 5:20Speaker 1: is all-knowing and operates through the power of the word,
- 5:23Speaker 1: it know everything we think. Just how it creates we
- 5:27Speaker 1: cannot know and need not attempt to understand, for whatever
- 5:30Speaker 1: this process of creation is, we find it is always
- 5:33Speaker 1: an inner thought process. We should keep this in mind
- 5:36Speaker 1: the spirit makes all things out of itself. Everything comes
- 5:41Speaker 1: into being without effort, and when we exert ourselves we
- 5:44Speaker 1: are not in accord with the creative spirit in the
- 5:46Speaker 1: way in which it works. The impulse of the spirit
- 5:49Speaker 1: to move must be caused by a desire to express
- 5:52Speaker 1: what it feels itself to be beauty, form, color, life,
- 5:55Speaker 1: love and power. All things else we find in the
- 5:59Speaker 1: manifest universe are attributes of the spirit, and are caused
- 6:02Speaker 1: to spring into being through the word, because the spirit
- 6:05Speaker 1: wants to enjoy itself. We find, then, that the word,
- 6:10Speaker 1: which is the inner activity of thought, comes first in
- 6:12Speaker 1: the creative series, and all else comes from the effect
- 6:15Speaker 1: of the Word operating upon a universal substance. If the
- 6:19Speaker 1: Word precedes all else, then the Word is what we
- 6:22Speaker 1: are looking for, and when we get it we shall
- 6:24Speaker 1: have what the world has sought from time immemorial. We must,
- 6:28Speaker 1: if we wish to prove the power of the Spirit
- 6:30Speaker 1: in our lives, look not to outside things or effects,
- 6:33Speaker 1: but to the Word alone. The human eye sees and
- 6:37Speaker 1: the human hand touches only that which is in effect.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Unseen law controls everything. but this law also is an effect,
- 6:45Speaker 1: law did not make itself, the law is not intelligence
- 6:48Speaker 1: or causation. Before there can be a law there must
- 6:51Speaker 1: be something that acts, and the law is the way
- 6:53Speaker 1: it acts, it is intelligence. In the beginning was the word.
- 6:59Speaker 1: This word or the activity of the spirit, is the
- 7:02Speaker 1: cause of the law, and the law in its place
- 7:04Speaker 1: is the cause of the thing, and the thing is
- 7:06Speaker 1: always an effect, that is, it did not make itself,
- 7:09Speaker 1: it is a result. The word always comes first in
- 7:13Speaker 1: the creative series, the word was with God and the
- 7:16Speaker 1: word was God, and the word still is God. When
- 7:19Speaker 1: we realize that man is like God, and he could
- 7:22Speaker 1: not be otherwise, being made out of God, we will
- 7:25Speaker 1: realize that his word also has power. If there is
- 7:29Speaker 1: but one mind then it follows that our word, our
- 7:31Speaker 1: thought is the activity of that one mind in our consciousness,
- 7:34Speaker 1: the power that holds the planets in their place is
- 7:37Speaker 1: the same power that flows through man. We must place
- 7:40Speaker 1: the word where it belongs, whether it is the word
- 7:42Speaker 1: of God in the universe or the word of man
- 7:44Speaker 1: in the individual, it is always first, before all else,
- 7:48Speaker 1: in the beginning. The real sequence is this, cause, spirit, intelligence, God,
- 7:54Speaker 1: the word, the activity of intelligence. The effect or the
- 7:59Speaker 1: visible thing, whether it is a planet or a peanut.
- 8:03Speaker 1: All are made out of the same thing. What we
- 8:06Speaker 1: need to do is to learn how to use the
- 8:07Speaker 1: word so that all will come to see that they
- 8:09Speaker 1: are creative centers within themselves. A principle that can be proven.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Knowing that mind is, we have a principle that is absolute,
- 8:18Speaker 1: it is exact, it is going to correspond to our
- 8:21Speaker 1: thinking about it. The first great necessity is to believe this,
- 8:25Speaker 1: without belief we can do nothing. This is the reason
- 8:29Speaker 1: Jesus said, it is done unto you even as you
- 8:31Speaker 1: have believed. Always it is done unto people as they believe,
- 8:36Speaker 1: and there is something that does it which never fails.
- 8:39Speaker 1: We must believe that our word is formed upon and
- 8:41Speaker 1: around by this creative mind, for instance, we wish to
- 8:45Speaker 1: create activity in our business, we believe that our word
- 8:48Speaker 1: is law about that thing, and there is something that
- 8:50Speaker 1: takes our thought and executes it for us. If we
- 8:54Speaker 1: have accepted the fact that all is mind and that
- 8:56Speaker 1: the thought is the thing, we shall see at once
- 8:58Speaker 1: that our word is the power behind the thing. and
- 9:00Speaker 1: that it depends upon the word or thought that we
- 9:02Speaker 1: are sending out. See Creative Mind and Success by the author.
- 9:08Speaker 1: So plastic is mind, so receptive, that the slightest thought
- 9:11Speaker 1: makes an impression upon it. People who think many kinds
- 9:15Speaker 1: of thought must expect to receive a confused manifestation in
- 9:18Speaker 1: their lives. If a gardener plants a thousand kinds of seeds,
- 9:23Speaker 1: he will get a thousand kinds of plants, it is
- 9:25Speaker 1: the same in mind. The word going forth. Since this
- 9:30Speaker 1: is true, everything depends upon our mental concepts. As a
- 9:34Speaker 1: man thinketh in his heart, so is he, the Bible
- 9:37Speaker 1: reiterates this statement telling us many times of the creative
- 9:40Speaker 1: power of thought, Jesus taught nothing else, he said, the
- 9:43Speaker 1: words which I speak unto you, they are spirit and
- 9:46Speaker 1: they are life. The centurion coming to Jesus recognized the
- 9:50Speaker 1: power of the word spoken by the latter. He said,
- 9:54Speaker 1: I also am one in authority, but his authority was
- 9:57Speaker 1: on the physical plane, and he saw that Jesus had
- 10:00Speaker 1: authority on a spiritual plane, for he said, Speak the
- 10:03Speaker 1: word only. The Bible also tells us that the word
- 10:06Speaker 1: is not afar off but in our own mouth. It
- 10:09Speaker 1: is neither here nor there, it is within every living soul.
- 10:14Speaker 1: We must take the responsibility for our own lives. All
- 10:18Speaker 1: must awake to the facts that they have absolute control
- 10:21Speaker 1: over their lives, and that nothing can happen by chance.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Then they will have a broader concept of God, a
- 10:27Speaker 1: greater tolerance for their neighbor, and a greater realization of
- 10:30Speaker 1: their own divine nature. What a relief from strenuous labor,
- 10:34Speaker 1: no more struggle or strife. Be still and know that
- 10:38Speaker 1: I am God, and beside me there is none other.
- 10:42Speaker 1: The Spirit being all there is, we cannot conceive of
- 10:44Speaker 1: anything that can hinder its working. When the spirit has spoken,
- 10:49Speaker 1: the word becomes law, for before the law is the word,
- 10:52Speaker 1: it precedes all else. First is absolute intelligence, all power,
- 10:57Speaker 1: all presence, all causation, then the movement upon itself through
- 11:01Speaker 1: the power of the word, then the word becoming law,
- 11:04Speaker 1: the law producing the thing and holding it in place.
- 11:07Speaker 1: So long as the word exists the thing will exist,
- 11:10Speaker 1: for since the word is all power there is nothing
- 11:12Speaker 1: beside it. I am that I am, and beside me
- 11:16Speaker 1: there is none other. This, I am, is spirit, God, all.
- 11:22Speaker 1: There is no physical explanation for anything in the universe,
- 11:25Speaker 1: all causation is spirit and all effects spiritual. We are
- 11:29Speaker 1: not living in a physical world but in a spiritual
- 11:32Speaker 1: world peopled with spiritual ideas. We are now living in spirit. God,
- 11:38Speaker 1: or spirit, governs the universe through great mental laws that
- 11:41Speaker 1: work out the divine will and purpose, always operating from intelligence.
- 11:47Speaker 1: This intelligence is so vast, and the power so great
- 11:50Speaker 1: that our human minds cannot even grasp it, all that
- 11:53Speaker 1: we can hope to do is to learn something of
- 11:54Speaker 1: the way in which it works, and by harmonizing ourselves
- 11:57Speaker 1: with it, to so align ourselves with spirit that our
- 12:00Speaker 1: lives may be controlled by the great harmony that obtains
- 12:03Speaker 1: in all the higher laws of nature, but has been
- 12:05Speaker 1: very imperfectly manifested in man. This brings us to the
- 12:09Speaker 1: second point of consideration. Why, and what is man? We
- 12:15Speaker 1: find in the physical universe that automatic laws govern everything,
- 12:18Speaker 1: for instance, the tree cannot say, I will not, because
- 12:22Speaker 1: of the law that holds it in place, it grows
- 12:24Speaker 1: without any volition of its own. So it is with
- 12:27Speaker 1: all nature, but when we come to man we find
- 12:30Speaker 1: a different manifestation of the spirit, a being who can say,
- 12:33Speaker 1: I choose. In all creation, man alone is an individual,
- 12:38Speaker 1: man alone is free, and yet man alone wants, is sick, suffers,
- 12:43Speaker 1: and is unhappy. Man marks the earth with ruin, why?
- 12:48Speaker 1: Because he has not found his true nature. The very
- 12:51Speaker 1: thing that should free him and eventually will do so
- 12:54Speaker 1: now limits him. God could not make an individual without
- 12:58Speaker 1: making him able to think and he cannot think without
- 13:01Speaker 1: bringing upon himself the results of his thought, good or bad.
- 13:05Speaker 1: This does not mean using two powers but using the
- 13:08Speaker 1: one from two standpoints. Nothing in itself is either good
- 13:12Speaker 1: or bad. all things exist in mind as a potentiality.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Mind is eternally acting upon thought, continually producing its own
- 13:20Speaker 1: images from mind, and casting them out into manifestation. Man
- 13:25Speaker 1: must be the outcome, of the desire of the spirit
- 13:28Speaker 1: to make something which expresses the same life that it feels.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Man is made to be a companion of the infinite,
- 13:34Speaker 1: but to arrive at this exalted plane of being, he
- 13:37Speaker 1: must have his freedom, and be let alone to discover
- 13:40Speaker 1: his own nature. to return love to his Creator only
- 13:42Speaker 1: when he chooses to do so. At the doorway, then,
- 13:47Speaker 1: of man's mind this wonderful God has to wait. Behold,
- 13:51Speaker 1: I stand at the door and knock, the opening must
- 13:54Speaker 1: be on the part of the individual. Man lives in
- 13:57Speaker 1: a mind that presses in upon him from all sides
- 13:59Speaker 1: with infinite possibilities, with infinite creative power. The divine urge
- 14:04Speaker 1: of infinite love crowds itself upon him and awaits his recognition.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Being the image of this power, his thought also must
- 14:11Speaker 1: be the word or cause of the life. At the
- 14:15Speaker 1: center of his being is all the power that he
- 14:17Speaker 1: will need on the path of his unfoldment, all the
- 14:19Speaker 1: mind that man has is as much of this infinite
- 14:22Speaker 1: mind as he allows to flow through him. We have
- 14:25Speaker 1: often thought of God as far off, and of man
- 14:27Speaker 1: as a being separate from the all good, now we
- 14:30Speaker 1: are coming to see that God and man are one,
- 14:32Speaker 1: and that that one is simply awaiting man's recognition, that
- 14:35Speaker 1: he may spring into being and become to man all
- 14:37Speaker 1: that he could wish or want. As the Father has
- 14:41Speaker 1: inherent life in Himself, so hath He given to the
- 14:43Speaker 1: Son to have life within Himself. It could not be otherwise,
- 14:48Speaker 1: we are all in mind and mind is always creating
- 14:50Speaker 1: for us as we think, and as we are thinking creatures,
- 14:53Speaker 1: always thinking, our happiness depends upon our thought. Let us
- 14:57Speaker 1: consider the law of our life. The law of our lives.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Spirit creates through law. The law is always mind in action.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Mind cannot act unless intelligence sets it in motion. In
- 15:12Speaker 1: the great universal mind man is a center of intelligence,
- 15:15Speaker 1: and every time he thinks he sets mind into action.
- 15:19Speaker 1: What is the activity of this mind in relation to
- 15:21Speaker 1: man's thought? It has to be one of mental correspondence,
- 15:25Speaker 1: that is, mind has to reflect whatever thought it casts
- 15:28Speaker 1: into it. Wonderful as universal mind is, it has no
- 15:32Speaker 1: choice but to create whatever thought is given it, if
- 15:35Speaker 1: it could contradict that thought, it would not be a unit,
- 15:38Speaker 1: since this would be recognizing something outside itself. This is
- 15:42Speaker 1: a point in truth which should not be overlooked. The
- 15:46Speaker 1: one mind knows only its own ability to make whatever
- 15:49Speaker 1: is given it, it sees no other power and never
- 15:51Speaker 1: analyzes or dissects, it simply knows, and the reason why
- 15:55Speaker 1: people do not understand this is that they have not
- 15:57Speaker 1: realized what mind is. The ordinary individual thinks of mind
- 16:01Speaker 1: only from the limitation of his own environment. The concept
- 16:05Speaker 1: he has of mind is the concept of his own thinking,
- 16:08Speaker 1: which is very limited. We are surrounded by an all-seeing,
- 16:13Speaker 1: all-knowing mind, which is one and runs through all. The
- 16:16Speaker 1: belief in the dual mind has destroyed practically all philosophies
- 16:20Speaker 1: and religions of the ages, and will continue to do
- 16:22Speaker 1: so until the world comes to see that there is
- 16:25Speaker 1: but one. Whatever name is given it there is but one.
- 16:29Speaker 1: It is this one that creates for us, whatever we believe.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Our thought operative through this one produces all our affairs.
- 16:38Speaker 1: We are all centers in this mind, centers of creative
- 16:40Speaker 1: thought activity. There is nothing which appears in the manifest
- 16:44Speaker 1: universe other than an objectified thought, whether it be a
- 16:47Speaker 1: bump on your head, a growth on your foot or
- 16:49Speaker 1: a planet. It could not be there were it not
- 16:52Speaker 1: made out of mind, for mind is all there is
- 16:55Speaker 1: to make anything out of. Whatever is made is made
- 16:58Speaker 1: out of it. Nothing exists or can exist without a
- 17:02Speaker 1: source from which it springs. We are not dealing with
- 17:05Speaker 1: a negative as well as a positive power not two
- 17:08Speaker 1: powers but one, a power that sees neither good nor evil,
- 17:11Speaker 1: as we see it. It knows only that it is all,
- 17:15Speaker 1: and since it is all, it creates whatever is given it.
- 17:18Speaker 1: From our limited standpoint we often think of good, and evil,
- 17:22Speaker 1: not realizing that, as yet, we do not know the
- 17:25Speaker 1: one from the other. What we call good today, We
- 17:29Speaker 1: may call evil tomorrow, and what we think to be
- 17:31Speaker 1: evil today, we may tomorrow proclaim as the greatest good
- 17:34Speaker 1: we have known. Not so with the great universal power
- 17:38Speaker 1: of mind, it sees only itself, and its infinite ability
- 17:41Speaker 1: to create. To the thinking person this will mean much.
- 17:46Speaker 1: He will see that he is no longer living in
- 17:48Speaker 1: a limited universe, a world of powers, but that he
- 17:51Speaker 1: is immersed in an infinite creative medium which, because of
- 17:54Speaker 1: its nature, has to create for him whatever he believes.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Jesus understood this, and in a few simple words, laid
- 18:02Speaker 1: down the law of life, it is done unto all
- 18:04Speaker 1: people as they believe. This is a great thing to
- 18:08Speaker 1: keep in mind. It is done unto us, we do
- 18:11Speaker 1: not have to do it, for it is done unto
- 18:13Speaker 1: us of a power that knows itself to be all
- 18:15Speaker 1: there is. Could we even believe that some material mountain
- 18:19Speaker 1: would be moved, the power is there to do it.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Without this belief there is no real impulse for the
- 18:25Speaker 1: creative mind, and we do not get an affirmative answer.
- 18:29Speaker 1: We must realize more clearly that this great power has
- 18:32Speaker 1: to operate through us. Man's part. Creative mind cannot force
- 18:37Speaker 1: itself upon us because we have the power of self-choice.
- 18:41Speaker 1: It recognizes us when we recognize it. When we think
- 18:45Speaker 1: that we are limited or have not been heard, it
- 18:48Speaker 1: must take that thought and bring it into manifestation for us.
- 18:52Speaker 1: When we look about us and see nature so beautiful,
- 18:54Speaker 1: lavish and so limitless, when we realize that something, some power,
- 18:59Speaker 1: is behind all, and sees to it that plenty obtains everywhere,
- 19:02Speaker 1: so that in all things manifest there is more than
- 19:05Speaker 1: could be used, and when on the other hand we
- 19:07Speaker 1: see man so limited, sick, sad, and needy, we are
- 19:11Speaker 1: disposed to ask this question. Is God good after all?
- 19:16Speaker 1: Does He really care for the people of His creation?
- 19:19Speaker 1: Why am I sick? Why am I poor? Little do
- 19:23Speaker 1: we realize that the answer is in our own mouths,
- 19:26Speaker 1: in the creative power of our own thought. The average
- 19:29Speaker 1: person when told the truth will still seek some other way.
- 19:33Speaker 1: God has already done for us in a mechanical way
- 19:36Speaker 1: all that he can do, and having been given the ability,
- 19:39Speaker 1: we will have to do for ourselves the rest. Yet
- 19:42Speaker 1: the great power is always near, ready at any time
- 19:45Speaker 1: to help, but we must use it according to its
- 19:47Speaker 1: own nature in harmony with its laws. Man should learn
- 19:51Speaker 1: that he himself is the center of this divine activity.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Realizing this, he must seek more and more to utilize
- 19:58Speaker 1: his own divine nature, and by so doing he will
- 20:01Speaker 1: come more fully under the protection of the great laws
- 20:03Speaker 1: that govern all life, manifest and unmanifest. Whatever man is,
- 20:08Speaker 1: he must find that because he is made out of God,
- 20:11Speaker 1: he must be of the same nature. This infinite one
- 20:14Speaker 1: cannot know anything outside of itself, anything that would be
- 20:18Speaker 1: a contradiction of its divine nature, man's ignorance of his
- 20:21Speaker 1: real nature binds him with his own freedom, until he
- 20:23Speaker 1: comes to see things as they really are, and not
- 20:26Speaker 1: as they appear to be. In the infinity of mind,
- 20:29Speaker 1: which is the principle of all metaphysics and of all life,
- 20:32Speaker 1: there is nothing but mind, and that which mind does.
- 20:37Speaker 1: That is all there is in the universe. That is
- 20:40Speaker 1: all there ever was or ever will be. This mind
- 20:43Speaker 1: is acted upon by our thought, and so our thought
- 20:46Speaker 1: becomes the law of our lives. It is just as
- 20:49Speaker 1: much a law in our individual lives as God's thought
- 20:52Speaker 1: is in the larger life of the universe. For the
- 20:55Speaker 1: sake of clearness, think of yourself as in this mind,
- 20:58Speaker 1: think of yourself as a center in it. That is
- 21:01Speaker 1: your principle. You think, and mind produces the thing. One
- 21:06Speaker 1: of the big points to remember is that we do
- 21:08Speaker 1: not have to create, all that we have to do
- 21:10Speaker 1: is to think. Mind, the only mind that there is, creates.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Few people seem to understand the nature of the law
- 21:19Speaker 1: and so think that they have got to do something,
- 21:21Speaker 1: even if it is only holding a thought, thinking or
- 21:23Speaker 1: knowing is what does the thing. It will make it
- 21:26Speaker 1: much easier for us when we realize that we do
- 21:28Speaker 1: not have to make anything, just to know. That there
- 21:32Speaker 1: is something back of the knowing which does the work
- 21:34Speaker 1: for us. That person gets the best results who realizes
- 21:38Speaker 1: that he can use this divine principle, he who can
- 21:41Speaker 1: get the clearest concept of his idea, and who can
- 21:43Speaker 1: rely on mind to do for him, keeping everything out
- 21:46Speaker 1: of his thought that would contradict the supremacy of spirit
- 21:48Speaker 1: or mind. By simply holding a thought we could not
- 21:52Speaker 1: make anything but by knowing in mind what cannot we do.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Bondage and Freedom Never get away from the fact that
- 21:59Speaker 1: you are surrounded by such a power, it is the
- 22:01Speaker 1: principle of demonstration. It knows every thought. As we send
- 22:07Speaker 1: forth our thought into it, it does unto us. The
- 22:10Speaker 1: person who is ignorant of this law must by that
- 22:13Speaker 1: ignorance be bound by his thought, by his human beliefs.
- 22:17Speaker 1: One who understands will begin to break these ties that
- 22:19Speaker 1: bind him, one by one he will destroy every negative
- 22:22Speaker 1: thought until at last he is able to think what
- 22:24Speaker 1: he wants to think. And so he frees himself by
- 22:28Speaker 1: the use of the same power that at one time
- 22:30Speaker 1: bound him. We must destroy all thought that we would
- 22:33Speaker 1: not see manifest and hold to that which we would see,
- 22:36Speaker 1: until we receive the affirmative answer. Never struggle, mind makes
- 22:41Speaker 1: things out of itself, there is no effort made. Don't
- 22:45Speaker 1: think that there is so much to be overcome. Have
- 22:48Speaker 1: only a calm sense of perfect peace as you realize
- 22:51Speaker 1: that God is all, and that you are using the
- 22:53Speaker 1: perfect law and that nothing can hinder it from working
- 22:56Speaker 1: for you. Many people are learning to do this. and
- 22:59Speaker 1: no one has yet failed to demonstrate who has been steadfast,
- 23:02Speaker 1: using the law in a consistent and persistent trust. All
- 23:06Speaker 1: that we have to do is to provide the right
- 23:08Speaker 1: mental and spiritual attitude of mind and then believe that
- 23:11Speaker 1: we already have, and the reward will be with us.
- 23:15Speaker 1: We shall see it. The time will come when we
- 23:18Speaker 1: will not have to demonstrate at all because we will
- 23:20Speaker 1: be always living so near to the law that it
- 23:22Speaker 1: will do all for us without much conscious thought on
- 23:25Speaker 1: our part. So when you say, I am poor, sick
- 23:29Speaker 1: or weak, I am not one with the creative mind,
- 23:32Speaker 1: you are using that creative power to keep yourself away
- 23:34Speaker 1: from the infinite, and just as soon as you declare
- 23:36Speaker 1: that you are one with God, there is a rushing
- 23:39Speaker 1: out to meet you, as the father rushed out to
- 23:41Speaker 1: meet the prodigal son. The spirit seeketh, but as long
- 23:45Speaker 1: as your mind thinks in the terms of conditions you
- 23:48Speaker 1: cannot overcome. The difficulty comes from our inability to see
- 23:52Speaker 1: our own divine nature, and its relation to the universe.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Until we awake to the fact that we are one
- 23:58Speaker 1: in nature with God, we will not find the way
- 24:00Speaker 1: of life, until we realize that our own word has
- 24:03Speaker 1: the power of life we will not see the way
- 24:05Speaker 1: of life, and this brings us to the consideration of
- 24:07Speaker 1: the use of the word in our lives. The Word
- 24:12Speaker 1: The word was with God and the word was God.
- 24:15Speaker 1: The word is nigh thee, even in thy own mouth
- 24:18Speaker 1: that thou shouldst know it and do it. What does
- 24:20Speaker 1: this mean? It clearly states that whatever power there is
- 24:24Speaker 1: in the word, and it says it is all power,
- 24:27Speaker 1: is also in our own mouths. There is no avoiding
- 24:30Speaker 1: the fact that the Bible claims for man the same
- 24:32Speaker 1: power in his own life and his own world that
- 24:35Speaker 1: it claims for God. In the lives of the majority,
- 24:38Speaker 1: men do not realize that the word is in their
- 24:40Speaker 1: own mouths. What word? Little do we realize that this
- 24:45Speaker 1: word which they are so earnestly seeking is every word
- 24:48Speaker 1: they hear, think or speak. Do we who are endeavoring
- 24:52Speaker 1: to realize the greater truths of life always govern our words?
- 24:56Speaker 1: If any word has power, it follows that all words
- 24:59Speaker 1: have power. It is not in the few moments of
- 25:02Speaker 1: spiritual meditation that we demonstrate, but we bring out the
- 25:05Speaker 1: possibilities of the hidden word when we are allowing our
- 25:08Speaker 1: thoughts to run in any direction. Not in the short
- 25:12Speaker 1: time spent in silence, but in the long hours stretching
- 25:15Speaker 1: themselves into days, months, and years, are we always using
- 25:18Speaker 1: the word. An hour a day spent in silent meditation
- 25:22Speaker 1: will not save us from the confusion of life, the
- 25:26Speaker 1: 51% of a man's thinking is what counts. It is
- 25:29Speaker 1: easy when we are alone to brave the storms of life,
- 25:32Speaker 1: surrounded by our own exalted atmosphere we feel the strength
- 25:35Speaker 1: of the infinite. We rise in spirit, we think we
- 25:39Speaker 1: are experiencing the ultimate of truth, that all things are ours.
- 25:43Speaker 1: These moments in a busy life are well spent, but
- 25:46Speaker 1: must unavoidably be brief. But what of the rest of
- 25:49Speaker 1: the day, what of the busy street, of the marketplace,
- 25:53Speaker 1: and of all the daily contact with life? Do we
- 25:56Speaker 1: then obtain? Do we keep on in the same even way?
- 26:00Speaker 1: Or do we fall before the outer confusion of our surroundings?
- 26:04Speaker 1: We are still creating the word and setting it afloat
- 26:07Speaker 1: in the great ethers of life. Are these words creating
- 26:11Speaker 1: for us? Yes. How necessary, then, to keep the independence
- 26:17Speaker 1: of the solitude. how seldom we do this. God sent
- 26:21Speaker 1: an angel to speak to me, a word he was
- 26:23Speaker 1: fain I hear, and the angel brought the message and
- 26:25Speaker 1: whispered it in my ear. God knew I needed the
- 26:29Speaker 1: word he sent, I had lost the zest of fight,
- 26:31Speaker 1: and the right was all but beaten, the wrong it
- 26:33Speaker 1: was all but right. Simple the word that he sent me,
- 26:37Speaker 1: but it soothed the spirit raw, with the pain of
- 26:40Speaker 1: too much striving, t'was, love fulfills the law. Few people
- 26:44Speaker 1: indeed in the day in which we live are well poised.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Where do we find the man who can live above
- 26:50Speaker 1: his surroundings, who in his own thought can dominate all conditions,
- 26:54Speaker 1: and in the midst of the crowd keep his own
- 26:56Speaker 1: even way, and his own counsel? When we do meet
- 26:59Speaker 1: with such a person we will know him, for we
- 27:01Speaker 1: shall find on his face the image of perfect peace.
- 27:05Speaker 1: We shall detect in his bearing the ease and independence
- 27:08Speaker 1: that comes only to the man who has found himself
- 27:10Speaker 1: and who is centered not in the outer but in
- 27:12Speaker 1: the inner world. Such a character as this has the
- 27:15Speaker 1: power to attract to himself all of the best in
- 27:17Speaker 1: the world, he is a center toward which all else
- 27:20Speaker 1: must gravitate. The atmosphere which he creates and with which
- 27:24Speaker 1: he surrounds himself is one of absolute calm and peace.
- 27:28Speaker 1: The world at once sees in this man a master,
- 27:30Speaker 1: and gladly sits at his feet. And yet this man
- 27:34Speaker 1: who has risen above the thought of the world cares
- 27:36Speaker 1: not that other people should sit at his feet. He
- 27:39Speaker 1: knows that what he has done all may do, and
- 27:42Speaker 1: he well knows that all the teaching in the world
- 27:44Speaker 1: will not produce another such as he. He knows that
- 27:47Speaker 1: it is not from the teaching but from the being
- 27:49Speaker 1: that true greatness springs. So this man does not go
- 27:53Speaker 1: around teaching or preaching, he simply is. The man who
- 27:57Speaker 1: has arrived. The man who has arrived will realize that
- 28:01Speaker 1: he has done so in the midst of an outer confusion,
- 28:04Speaker 1: he will be the one who has gone into the
- 28:06Speaker 1: silence for strength, and has come out into the world
- 28:08Speaker 1: equipped with power from on high, but that light which
- 28:11Speaker 1: he has received must be kept burning. Not alone in
- 28:14Speaker 1: the silence but in the busy throng must all of
- 28:16Speaker 1: us find a way of life. Our every thought creates.
- 28:22Speaker 1: For the majority of us these thoughts come in everyday affairs,
- 28:25Speaker 1: some of which are very trivial, but these too will
- 28:27Speaker 1: be demonstrated. We have missed the whole point, unless we
- 28:31Speaker 1: have learned so to control our thought that time and
- 28:33Speaker 1: place make no difference. The power we have within us.
- 28:39Speaker 1: We have within us a power that is greater than
- 28:41Speaker 1: anything that we shall ever contact in the outer, a
- 28:44Speaker 1: power that can overcome every obstacle in our life and
- 28:46Speaker 1: set us safe, satisfied and at peace, healed and prosperous,
- 28:50Speaker 1: in a new light, and in a new life. Mind,
- 28:54Speaker 1: all mind is right here. It is God's mind, God's
- 28:58Speaker 1: creative power, God's creative life. We have as much of
- 29:02Speaker 1: this power to use in our daily life as we
- 29:04Speaker 1: can believe in and embody. The storehouse of nature is
- 29:08Speaker 1: filled with infinite good awaiting the touch of our awakened
- 29:11Speaker 1: thought to spring forth into manifestation in our life, but
- 29:14Speaker 1: the awakening must be on our part and not on
- 29:16Speaker 1: the side of life. We static. At the gateway of
- 29:21Speaker 1: limitless opportunity in the eternal and changeless now. Now is
- 29:25Speaker 1: the day in which to begin the new life that
- 29:27Speaker 1: is to lift us up to the greater expression of
- 29:29Speaker 1: all that is wonderful. The word that we speak is
- 29:32Speaker 1: the law of our life and nothing hinders but ourselves.
- 29:37Speaker 1: We have through ignorance of our real nature misused the
- 29:39Speaker 1: power of our word, and behold what it has brought
- 29:42Speaker 1: upon us, the very thing that we feared. But now
- 29:45Speaker 1: it shall produce a new thing, a new heaven and
- 29:48Speaker 1: a new earth. Individual Ideas We find that in the
- 29:52Speaker 1: universe every separate idea has a word, a mental concept
- 29:56Speaker 1: behind it, and as long as that word remains the
- 29:58Speaker 1: thing is held in place in the visible world, when
- 30:01Speaker 1: the concept is withdrawn the idea in the visible melts away, disappears.
- 30:06Speaker 1: It ceases to vibrate to the word, which is the
- 30:09Speaker 1: law behind it, for when the word is withdrawn the
- 30:11Speaker 1: condensation of the ether that forms the word melts again
- 30:14Speaker 1: into the formless. There was a time when the world
- 30:17Speaker 1: was without form, and from the word alone all things
- 30:20Speaker 1: were made that are made. When our word says that
- 30:23Speaker 1: there is no longer life in our bodies, the life
- 30:25Speaker 1: principle withdraws and our bodies return to the substance from
- 30:28Speaker 1: which they came. Here is the great mystery of life,
- 30:32Speaker 1: that we are able to use this creative word for
- 30:35Speaker 1: whatever purpose we may desire, and that word becomes the
- 30:38Speaker 1: law unto the thing for which it was spoken. And
- 30:41Speaker 1: so in our lives we might say that without our
- 30:43Speaker 1: word was not anything made that was made. For we
- 30:46Speaker 1: are given the power to sit in the midst of
- 30:48Speaker 1: our lives and direct all their activities. There is no
- 30:52Speaker 1: struggle and no strife necessary. all that we have to
- 30:56Speaker 1: do is to know. We must awake and with the
- 30:59Speaker 1: glorified consciousness of an emancipated soul use our God-given power.
- 31:04Speaker 1: The reason for the universe. This universe is the reason,
- 31:08Speaker 1: first of an infinite intelligence which speaks or thinks, and
- 31:11Speaker 1: as this thought becomes active within itself, it creates from itself,
- 31:15Speaker 1: at the power of its own word, the visible universe.
- 31:19Speaker 1: We are living in a universal activity of mental law,
- 31:22Speaker 1: we are surrounded by a mind which receives every impression
- 31:25Speaker 1: of our thought and returns to us just what we think.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Every man, then, is living in a world made for
- 31:31Speaker 1: him from the activity of his thought. It is a
- 31:34Speaker 1: self-evident proposition that mind must create out of itself, and
- 31:38Speaker 1: this self being limitless, it follows that its creative power
- 31:41Speaker 1: is without limit. MIND IN ACTION Everything that we see
- 31:46Speaker 1: is the result of mind in action. We all have
- 31:50Speaker 1: a body and we have what is called a physical environment,
- 31:52Speaker 1: we could have neither if it were not for mind.
- 31:55Speaker 1: The law implanted within us is, that we need nothing
- 31:58Speaker 1: except ourselves and this all-wise creative mind to make anything,
- 32:02Speaker 1: and that just so far as we depend upon any condition, past,
- 32:05Speaker 1: present or future, or upon any individual, we are creating chaos,
- 32:10Speaker 1: because we are dealing with conditions and not with causes.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Every living soul is a law unto himself, but of
- 32:17Speaker 1: this great truth few people are conscious. It seems difficult
- 32:21Speaker 1: for the race, which feels itself to be so limited,
- 32:24Speaker 1: to comprehend the fact that there is a power that
- 32:26Speaker 1: makes things directly out of itself, by simply becoming the
- 32:29Speaker 1: thing that it makes, and that it does this by self-knowing.
- 32:33Speaker 1: But we will not demonstrate until we see at least
- 32:35Speaker 1: some of this, the greatest truth about life. We should
- 32:40Speaker 1: realize that we are dealing with the principle that is
- 32:42Speaker 1: scientifically correct. It will never fail us at any time
- 32:46Speaker 1: but is eternally present. We can approach the infinite mind
- 32:50Speaker 1: with a depth of thought and understanding, knowing that it
- 32:53Speaker 1: will respond, knowing that we are dealing with reality. Jesus,
- 32:57Speaker 1: who saw this very dearly, laid down the whole law
- 33:00Speaker 1: of life in a few simple words, it is done
- 33:02Speaker 1: unto you as you believe. We do not have to
- 33:06Speaker 1: do it, it is done unto us, it is done
- 33:08Speaker 1: by a power that is all. Could we believe that
- 33:12Speaker 1: a material mountain would be moved, it would be done
- 33:14Speaker 1: unto us. But unless we do believe there is no
- 33:17Speaker 1: impulse for the creative power and we do not receive.
- 33:21Speaker 1: Life externalizes at the level of our thought. Action and reaction.
- 33:27Speaker 1: There is something that casts back at us every thought
- 33:29Speaker 1: that we think. Vengeance is mine, I will repay, said
- 33:34Speaker 1: the Lord, is a statement of eternal truth and correspondences
- 33:37Speaker 1: against which nothing can stand. and whatever man sets in
- 33:40Speaker 1: motion in mind will be returned to him, even as
- 33:42Speaker 1: he has conceived within himself and brought forth into manifestation.
- 33:47Speaker 1: If we wish to transcend old thoughts we must rise
- 33:49Speaker 1: above them and think higher things, we are dealing with
- 33:52Speaker 1: the law of cause and effect and it is absolute.
- 33:56Speaker 1: It receives the slightest as well as the greatest thought
- 33:59Speaker 1: and at once begins to act upon it. And sometimes
- 34:02Speaker 1: even when we know this we are surprised at the
- 34:04Speaker 1: rapidity with which it works. If we have been misusing
- 34:08Speaker 1: this law we need not fail, all that we have
- 34:10Speaker 1: to do is to turn from the old way and
- 34:12Speaker 1: begin in the new. We will soon work up out
- 34:15Speaker 1: of the old law into the new which is being
- 34:17Speaker 1: established for us. When we desire only the good the
- 34:20Speaker 1: evil slips from us and returns no more. Arriving at
- 34:25Speaker 1: a High Consciousness The best way to arrive at the
- 34:28Speaker 1: highest consciousness is to have a great faith in the
- 34:31Speaker 1: willingness and the ability of life to do all for us,
- 34:33Speaker 1: by working through us. We must believe in the inherent
- 34:37Speaker 1: goodness and all-powerfulness of the spirit of truth. And so
- 34:41Speaker 1: every path leads us back to the one point and
- 34:44Speaker 1: we must learn to realize the near presence, the great reality. There,
- 34:49Speaker 1: through the door of our own thought, we enter into
- 34:51Speaker 1: the universal consciousness, into a complete realization of life and truth,
- 34:56Speaker 1: of love and beauty, and as we sit in the
- 34:58Speaker 1: silence of our own souls and listen, it will be
- 35:01Speaker 1: the greatest thing that we will ever do. In that
- 35:04Speaker 1: completeness we are lost and yet we are found. This
- 35:07Speaker 1: is what is meant that a man must lose his
- 35:09Speaker 1: life in order to find it. We are lost to
- 35:12Speaker 1: the human and found in the divine. We realize that
- 35:16Speaker 1: we are one with cause. Outer Suggestions Nearly all people
- 35:22Speaker 1: are controlled by outer suggestions and not by inner realizations.
- 35:27Speaker 1: Ordinarily man thinks only what he sees others do and
- 35:30Speaker 1: hears others say. We must all learn so to control
- 35:33Speaker 1: the inner life that outside things do not make an
- 35:36Speaker 1: impression upon our mentalities. As we are thinking beings, and
- 35:41Speaker 1: cannot help thinking, we cannot avoid making things happen to us,
- 35:45Speaker 1: and what we need to do is so to control
- 35:46Speaker 1: our thought processes that our thinking will not depart from
- 35:49Speaker 1: the realization of that which is perfect. Man is governed
- 35:53Speaker 1: by a mind which casts back to him every thought
- 35:55Speaker 1: he thinks, he cannot escape from this and need not try,
- 35:58Speaker 1: it would be useless. The laws of mind are simple
- 36:02Speaker 1: and easy to understand. The trouble with us has been
- 36:06Speaker 1: that we have laid down great obstructions and then have
- 36:09Speaker 1: tried to overcome them. Stop trying, stop struggling, begin to
- 36:13Speaker 1: be calm, to trust in the higher laws of life,
- 36:16Speaker 1: even though you do not see them, they are still there.
- 36:20Speaker 1: Did you ever see the law that causes a plant
- 36:22Speaker 1: to grow? Of course you did not, and yet you
- 36:25Speaker 1: believe in this hidden law of growth. Why do you believe?
- 36:30Speaker 1: simply because every year, out of the seed time comes
- 36:33Speaker 1: a harvest. Shall we not have as great faith in
- 36:37Speaker 1: the higher laws of being? To those souls who have
- 36:40Speaker 1: dared to believe has come as definite an answer as
- 36:42Speaker 1: came to those who believed in receiving a harvest from
- 36:45Speaker 1: the planted seed. This law is, and if we would
- 36:48Speaker 1: see results we must use it, that is, we must
- 36:51Speaker 1: provide the mental receptivity that will prepare us to accept
- 36:54Speaker 1: the gift when the Spirit makes it. This receiving is
- 36:58Speaker 1: a mental process, a process in which we lose all
- 37:00Speaker 1: sense of limitation. If you wish to demonstrate prosperity, begin
- 37:06Speaker 1: to think and talk about it, and to see it everywhere.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Do nothing that contradicts this thought either mentally or physically.
- 37:13Speaker 1: The world is full of good, take it and forget
- 37:16Speaker 1: all else. Rise above depression and be glad that you
- 37:19Speaker 1: are saved from adversity, the human mind needs to be
- 37:22Speaker 1: cleansed from the morbid thoughts that bind through its false beliefs.
- 37:26Speaker 1: No living soul can demonstrate two things at the same time,
- 37:30Speaker 1: if one contradicts the other. There is no way except
- 37:34Speaker 1: to let go of all that you do not wish
- 37:36Speaker 1: to come into your experience, and, in mind, take all
- 37:39Speaker 1: that you do wish. See, hear, talk about, and read
- 37:44Speaker 1: only what you wish, and never again let a negative
- 37:46Speaker 1: thought come into your mind. God knows good only, and
- 37:50Speaker 1: when we are in line with good He knows us,
- 37:52Speaker 1: when we are out of harmony with good, we say,
- 37:55Speaker 1: God has forgotten us. On the one hand we have
- 37:58Speaker 1: an infinite intelligence which has brought us up to where
- 38:01Speaker 1: we are today. And having done all that it can
- 38:04Speaker 1: for us now lets us alone to discover our own nature.
- 38:08Speaker 1: On the other hand we have the infinite law which
- 38:10Speaker 1: is an activity of God and we can use it
- 38:12Speaker 1: for what we will, only with this provision, that, in
- 38:15Speaker 1: so far as we use it for the good of all,
- 38:17Speaker 1: are we protected. The law obtains through all nature that
- 38:21Speaker 1: as a man sows, so must he reap. Now the
- 38:25Speaker 1: Father has brought us to where we can understand life,
- 38:27Speaker 1: and we must go as we choose. If we are
- 38:31Speaker 1: in harmony with the great forward movement of the Spirit,
- 38:33Speaker 1: there is nothing that can hinder our advancement, if we
- 38:36Speaker 1: oppose it, somewhere along our pathway it will crush us.
- 38:40Speaker 1: As with individuals so with nations, in so far as
- 38:43Speaker 1: they work with a right spirit they prosper, when they
- 38:46Speaker 1: begin to fail in the use of this law they
- 38:48Speaker 1: begin to fall. He who understands will take the position
- 38:51Speaker 1: of one who wishes to work in union with the
- 38:54Speaker 1: power of good. And to such an one will come
- 38:57Speaker 1: all the power that he can conceive of and believe in,
- 39:00Speaker 1: his word becomes an expression as the very word of God,
- 39:03Speaker 1: and he must realize it to be all-powerful. So the
- 39:06Speaker 1: one who is truly united with good will wish to
- 39:09Speaker 1: express only the truth for all, and in doing so
- 39:11Speaker 1: he is working along the lines of the unfoldment of
- 39:14Speaker 1: the Spirit, and though he may seem to fail, from
- 39:16Speaker 1: the ordinary standpoint, yet his success is assured. for he
- 39:21Speaker 1: is at one with the only ultimate power before which,
- 39:24Speaker 1: in time, all else must fall. The Use of the
- 39:27Speaker 1: Greater Consciousness In practice the emancipated soul must always realize
- 39:32Speaker 1: that he is in union with the Father, what the
- 39:35Speaker 1: Father does, he can do in his own life, what
- 39:37Speaker 1: God is, he can become. His word must be spoken
- 39:41Speaker 1: with absolute authority, he must know, there should be no uncertainty.
- 39:46Speaker 1: The Word is the only power, everything must come from it,
- 39:49Speaker 1: and nothing can stand against it. It is the great
- 39:53Speaker 1: weapon which He is to use against all evil and
- 39:55Speaker 1: for all good. It is His shield against all adversity
- 39:59Speaker 1: and His sure defense against all seeming limitation. The secret
- 40:03Speaker 1: place of the Most High is in His own soul,
- 40:06Speaker 1: where God dwells in eternal peace and infinite calm. Here
- 40:09Speaker 1: He walks the waters of life undisturbed by the waves
- 40:12Speaker 1: and the storms. Divine companionship is his for all eternity.
- 40:18Speaker 1: Peace which transcends all human confusion comes, and he realizes
- 40:22Speaker 1: that indeed he is honored of the Father. His word
- 40:25Speaker 1: is flung out and will work and none can hinder it,
- 40:28Speaker 1: the sense of sureness is complete. Heaven and earth may
- 40:31Speaker 1: pass away, but the word goes on and on accomplishing
- 40:34Speaker 1: that thing for which it was sent, and all power
- 40:37Speaker 1: is given to it on earth and in heaven. If
- 40:40Speaker 1: he speaks to the sick and they receive, it will
- 40:42Speaker 1: heal them. If he says the word of prosperity it
- 40:46Speaker 1: will manifest, and nothing can hinder it, the world will
- 40:49Speaker 1: abound with good, and his cup run over with life.
- 40:53Speaker 1: What more can we ask? What greater realization of life
- 40:57Speaker 1: than to know that God is with us? From this
- 41:00Speaker 1: great realization comes peace, a peace which the world little understands,
- 41:04Speaker 1: and a calm which is as deep as the infinite
- 41:06Speaker 1: sea of love in which he realizes himself to be immersed.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Peace brings poise, and the union of these two gives
- 41:13Speaker 1: birth to power. No person can hope to arrive while
- 41:17Speaker 1: he believes in two powers, only as we rise to
- 41:20Speaker 1: the realization of the one in and through all can
- 41:22Speaker 1: we attain. When we speak the word there must be
- 41:25Speaker 1: no confusion but only that calm reliance which knows that,
- 41:29Speaker 1: beside me there is none other. Realize that spirit is
- 41:32Speaker 1: all causation, and that all things are made out of it,
- 41:35Speaker 1: by the operation of the word through it, and that
- 41:38Speaker 1: you can speak the word that is one with the
- 41:39Speaker 1: spirit and there will be no more confusion. As the
- 41:43Speaker 1: Father has inherent life in Himself, so has He given
- 41:46Speaker 1: to the Son to have inherent life within Himself. Speak
- 41:50Speaker 1: the word only and it shall be done. The word
- 41:53Speaker 1: is in your own mouth that ye should know it
- 41:55Speaker 1: and do it. Stranger on earth, thy home is heaven, pilgrim,
- 41:59Speaker 1: thou art the guest of God. The Greater Consciousness Man
- 42:04Speaker 1: is surrounded by a great universal thought power which returns
- 42:08Speaker 1: to him always just as he thinks. So plastic, so
- 42:11Speaker 1: receptive is this mind, that it takes the slightest impression
- 42:15Speaker 1: and molds it into conditions. There are two things in
- 42:18Speaker 1: man which his thought affects, his body and his environment.
- 42:23Speaker 1: At all times he is given absolute control over these
- 42:25Speaker 1: two things, and from the effect of his thought upon
- 42:28Speaker 1: them he cannot hope to escape. At first, being ignorant
- 42:32Speaker 1: of this fact, he binds himself by a misuse of
- 42:35Speaker 1: the laws of his being, but as he begins to
- 42:37Speaker 1: see that he himself is responsible for all that comes
- 42:40Speaker 1: to him on the path of life, he begins to
- 42:42Speaker 1: control his thought. which in its turn acts on the
- 42:44Speaker 1: universal substance to create for him a new world. The
- 42:48Speaker 1: great soul is learning more and more to dare to
- 42:51Speaker 1: fling out into mind a divine idea of himself, and
- 42:53Speaker 1: to see himself perfect and whole. If he has a
- 42:57Speaker 1: divine thought he will get a divine thing, if he
- 43:00Speaker 1: has a human thought he will get a human thing,
- 43:02Speaker 1: he will receive whatever his innermost thought embodies. And so
- 43:06Speaker 1: we find in the Bible twice repeated these words, to
- 43:09Speaker 1: the pure thou wilt show thyself pure and to the
- 43:11Speaker 1: froward thou wilt show thyself froward. It is done unto
- 43:15Speaker 1: all as they believe. We often wonder why it is
- 43:18Speaker 1: that we are not making better demonstrations. We look about
- 43:23Speaker 1: and observe that some are getting wonderful results, they are
- 43:25Speaker 1: speaking the word and people are being healed. We see
- 43:29Speaker 1: others struggling along with the word, and nothing seems to happen,
- 43:33Speaker 1: and when we inquire into the reason for all this
- 43:35Speaker 1: we find it to be very plain indeed. All is
- 43:38Speaker 1: mind and we are mental, we are in mind and
- 43:40Speaker 1: can only get from it what we first think into it.
- 43:43Speaker 1: We must not only think but we must know. We
- 43:47Speaker 1: have to provide within ourselves a mental and spiritual likeness
- 43:50Speaker 1: for the thing desired. The reason why so few succeed, then,
- 43:55Speaker 1: must be because they have not mentally really believed to
- 43:57Speaker 1: the exclusion of all that would deny the thing which
- 44:00Speaker 1: they believe in. And the reason why others do succeed
- 44:03Speaker 1: must also be because they have absolutely believed and allowed
- 44:06Speaker 1: real power to flow through and out into expression. They
- 44:10Speaker 1: must have a real concept of life. Hold an object
- 44:14Speaker 1: in front of a mirror and it will image in
- 44:16Speaker 1: the mirror the exact size of the object. Hold a
- 44:19Speaker 1: thought in mind and it will image in matter the
- 44:22Speaker 1: exact likeness of the thought. Let us take this image
- 44:25Speaker 1: which we hold before a mirror and change it ever
- 44:27Speaker 1: so slightly and there will be a corresponding change in
- 44:30Speaker 1: the reflection. It is just the same in the mental world,
- 44:34Speaker 1: whatever is imaged is brought forth from mind into manifestation.
- 44:38Speaker 1: We must not deny that which we affirm. We must
- 44:42Speaker 1: reason only from that cause which is spiritual and mental
- 44:45Speaker 1: and weed out all thought that would deny its power
- 44:47Speaker 1: in our lives. There seems to be something in the
- 44:50Speaker 1: race thought that says man is poor, man is limited,
- 44:53Speaker 1: that there is a lack of opportunity, that times are hard,
- 44:57Speaker 1: that prices are high, that nobody wants what I have
- 44:59Speaker 1: to offer. No person succeeds who speaks these ideas. When
- 45:05Speaker 1: we express ourselves in this way we arc using a
- 45:07Speaker 1: destructive power. All such thoughts must go, and we must
- 45:12Speaker 1: all realize that we are an active center in the
- 45:14Speaker 1: only power there is. We must get the perfect vision,
- 45:18Speaker 1: the perfect conception, we must enlarge our thought until it
- 45:21Speaker 1: realizes all good, and then we must swing right out
- 45:24Speaker 1: and use this almighty power for definite purposes. We should
- 45:28Speaker 1: daily feel a deeper union with life, a greater sense
- 45:31Speaker 1: of that indwelling God, the God of the everywhere, within us.
- 45:36Speaker 1: When we speak into this mind we have sown the
- 45:38Speaker 1: seed of thought in the absolute and may rest in peace.
- 45:41Speaker 1: We do not have to make haste, because it is
- 45:44Speaker 1: done unto all as they believe. In that day that
- 45:47Speaker 1: they shall call upon me I will answer. People will
- 45:50Speaker 1: often ask, what is the best method for demonstration? There
- 45:55Speaker 1: is but one answer to that question, the word is
- 45:57Speaker 1: the only possible method of demonstrating anything, the word really
- 46:01Speaker 1: felt and embodied in our thought. Then the word becomes
- 46:05Speaker 1: flesh and dwells among us and we behold and experience it.
- 46:09Speaker 1: We will ask for no other way when we understand this.
- 46:12Speaker 1: The person who does not understand these laws will be
- 46:15Speaker 1: likely to say that this is presumptuous, that it is
- 46:18Speaker 1: even sacrilegious, but this comes only from a lack of
- 46:20Speaker 1: understanding of the fact that all is governed by law
- 46:23Speaker 1: and that all law is impersonal and universal. We have
- 46:27Speaker 1: just as much right to use spiritual law as to
- 46:30Speaker 1: use so-called physical laws. Strictly speaking there is no such
- 46:34Speaker 1: a thing as a physical law. as all things are
- 46:37Speaker 1: spiritual and all law is a law of the activity
- 46:39Speaker 1: of the spirit. The greatest use of these laws will
- 46:43Speaker 1: always come to that soul who is the most deeply spiritual,
- 46:46Speaker 1: as such an one comes the nearest to using law
- 46:48Speaker 1: as God uses it. So to the really great soul
- 46:52Speaker 1: there must come a very close relationship with the invisible God.
- 46:56Speaker 1: This relationship cannot be expressed in words but only in
- 46:59Speaker 1: inner feeling which transcends the power of words to express.
- 47:04Speaker 1: God must become the great reality, not simply as the
- 47:06Speaker 1: principle of life, but more as the great mind which knows,
- 47:10Speaker 1: and which at all times understands and responds. To say
- 47:14Speaker 1: that God does not understand our desires would be to
- 47:17Speaker 1: rob the divine mind of all consciousness and place God
- 47:19Speaker 1: lower in the scale of being than we ourselves are.
- 47:23Speaker 1: On the other hand we must be careful not to
- 47:25Speaker 1: believe that God thinks evil and understands that which is
- 47:28Speaker 1: not perfect, as then we would have an imperfect being
- 47:31Speaker 1: for the first cause. We should more and more learn
- 47:34Speaker 1: to think of things in the Absolute, that is, to
- 47:37Speaker 1: think of things as not limited by conditions. Realize at
- 47:40Speaker 1: all times that the spirit makes things out of itself,
- 47:43Speaker 1: and needs no beginning except its own self-recognition. Then we
- 47:48Speaker 1: must cognize our relation to this great power as one
- 47:51Speaker 1: of absolute correspondence, what we think into it, it takes
- 47:54Speaker 1: up and does for us as we think. It should
- 47:57Speaker 1: not be an effort so to think, we should do
- 48:00Speaker 1: so with ease, without strain. The law must return to us,
- 48:04Speaker 1: we have no responsibility except to provide the proper channel.
- 48:08Speaker 1: It can return only in the exact way that we think.
- 48:12Speaker 1: If we think struggle is the reality, we shall gain
- 48:14Speaker 1: our demonstration, but struggle will have to be the result.
- 48:19Speaker 1: There is a law of reflection between mind and the
- 48:21Speaker 1: one who thinks, and it is not only what a
- 48:23Speaker 1: man thinks but also how he thinks that shall be
- 48:26Speaker 1: done unto him. If you believe absolutely that you can
- 48:29Speaker 1: do a certain thing, the way will always be open
- 48:32Speaker 1: for you to do it, if also you believe that
- 48:34Speaker 1: time will have to elapse, then you are making that
- 48:37Speaker 1: a law, and time will have to elapse. If on
- 48:41Speaker 1: the other hand you believe that mind knows just how
- 48:43Speaker 1: and never makes mistakes, but lets it be done unto you,
- 48:46Speaker 1: then it will be done. Confusion brings more confusion, peace
- 48:50Speaker 1: begets more peace, we cannot imagine the great spirit hurrying
- 48:54Speaker 1: or worrying, fretting or trying to make anything happen. The
- 48:58Speaker 1: only reason we worry and fret is because we have
- 49:00Speaker 1: thought there was some other power which could bring confusion.
- 49:07Speaker 1: There is but one, and we are always using that
- 49:09Speaker 1: one but using it according to our belief. This is
- 49:12Speaker 1: our divine birthright, nothing hinders but ourselves. Remember that since
- 49:17Speaker 1: all is mind, you cannot demonstrate beyond it. your ability
- 49:20Speaker 1: to comprehend mentally, that is, beyond your ability to know
- 49:24Speaker 1: about a certain thing. For instance, suppose you wish to
- 49:28Speaker 1: heal someone who is sick. Your ability to do this
- 49:32Speaker 1: will depend entirely upon your ability to see perfection mentally,
- 49:35Speaker 1: coupled also with the realization that your word destroys everything
- 49:39Speaker 1: unlike itself. If you try to see perfection for a
- 49:42Speaker 1: few minutes only, it will never heal. Your thought goes
- 49:46Speaker 1: on at all times, and in the moments when you
- 49:48Speaker 1: least realize it, conditions are being molded for you. It
- 49:52Speaker 1: is not enough to declare consciously for the truth. The
- 49:56Speaker 1: truth must be lived or no good results will be forthcoming.
- 50:00Speaker 1: The Perfect Universe The one who desires to heal must
- 50:04Speaker 1: stop seeing, reading about, discussing, or listening to conversation about sickness.
- 50:10Speaker 1: There is no other way under the sun except as
- 50:12Speaker 1: we let go of that which we do not desire,
- 50:15Speaker 1: and take that which we wish to have. There is
- 50:18Speaker 1: too much of this deceiving ourselves into thinking that we
- 50:20Speaker 1: can do two ways at once. We may deceive ourselves
- 50:24Speaker 1: and possibly other people, but the law remains the same,
- 50:27Speaker 1: a law of mental correspondences, and nothing else. We cannot
- 50:32Speaker 1: go beyond our ability to realize the truth, water rises
- 50:36Speaker 1: only to its own level. In our patience as well
- 50:39Speaker 1: as in ourselves and our environment we will reflect what
- 50:42Speaker 1: we are, not at our best in a few moments
- 50:44Speaker 1: of silence, but in the long run of ordinary life
- 50:47Speaker 1: and thought. To acquire the larger consciousness is no easy task.
- 50:53Speaker 1: All that we have believed in which contradicts the perfect
- 50:55Speaker 1: whole must be dropped from our thought, and we must
- 50:57Speaker 1: come to realize that we are now living in a
- 50:59Speaker 1: perfect universe, peopled with perfect spiritual beings, each of which,
- 51:04Speaker 1: coupled with the great divinity, is complete within himself. We
- 51:08Speaker 1: must see that we are one in the Great One,
- 51:11Speaker 1: and then we will not separate or divide, but unite
- 51:13Speaker 1: and add to, until in time we will find that
- 51:16Speaker 1: we are living in an entirely different world from that
- 51:18Speaker 1: in which we had once thought we were living. Of
- 51:21Speaker 1: course this will meet with much opposition from those unenlightened
- 51:24Speaker 1: souls whom we must contact in the world. But what
- 51:27Speaker 1: of that? Remember, the Great Man is the one who
- 51:31Speaker 1: can keep in the crowd the calm, even thought, the deep,
- 51:34Speaker 1: divine reliance on principle. And more. This is the only
- 51:39Speaker 1: way to help or to save the world. In time
- 51:42Speaker 1: all people will come to the same understanding. You are
- 51:46Speaker 1: lifting up the standard of life, and those who are
- 51:48Speaker 1: ready will follow. You have no responsibility to save the
- 51:52Speaker 1: world except by exemplifying the truth. The world must save itself.
- 51:58Speaker 1: All are alike, there is no difference between one person
- 52:01Speaker 1: and another. Come to see all as a divine idea,
- 52:05Speaker 1: stop all negative thought. Think only about what you want,
- 52:09Speaker 1: and never about what you do not want, as that
- 52:11Speaker 1: would cause a false creation. Too much cannot be said
- 52:15Speaker 1: about the fact that all are dealing with only one power,
- 52:18Speaker 1: making and unmaking for man through the creative power of
- 52:20Speaker 1: his own thought. If there is something in your life
- 52:25Speaker 1: that you do not want there, stop fighting it, forget it.
- 52:29Speaker 1: About struggle, karma. There is too much struggle coming into
- 52:33Speaker 1: the metaphysical thought. Often we hear some seeker after truth say,
- 52:38Speaker 1: I have a big fight ahead. O foolish and untaught,
- 52:42Speaker 1: how can you hope to enter in? The kingdom comes
- 52:45Speaker 1: not from without, but from within, always. Stop all struggle
- 52:50Speaker 1: and wait upon the sure principle that creates whatever it
- 52:52Speaker 1: wills because there is nothing to oppose it. As long
- 52:56Speaker 1: as we think that opposition exists we are blocking the
- 52:58Speaker 1: way for the clearer vision. Those that take up the
- 53:02Speaker 1: sword must perish by it. Not because God is a
- 53:05Speaker 1: jealous God, but because that is the way the law
- 53:08Speaker 1: must work. Cause and effect must obtain everywhere. Do not
- 53:13Speaker 1: even fuss about your karma, too often we hear people say,
- 53:17Speaker 1: this is my karma. This may be true enough, but
- 53:20Speaker 1: how many people know what they mean when they use
- 53:22Speaker 1: the word karma? Do you realize that your karma is
- 53:26Speaker 1: nothing but your false thinking, and that the only way
- 53:28Speaker 1: to escape it is to think the truth, and that
- 53:30Speaker 1: brings in the higher law. when the greater comes and
- 53:34Speaker 1: the lesser leaves because there is no longer anything to
- 53:37Speaker 1: give life to it. The past is gone when we
- 53:40Speaker 1: learn to forgive and to forget. This erases from mind
- 53:43Speaker 1: all that is held against us, and even our sins,
- 53:46Speaker 1: are remembered no more against us forever. Fate is in
- 53:50Speaker 1: our own hands, and when we will rise to that
- 53:53Speaker 1: pure atmosphere where we see things in their completeness, and
- 53:56Speaker 1: know that an all-wise power is behind it all, we
- 53:59Speaker 1: will see that the infinite mind could wish for us
- 54:01Speaker 1: only that which expresses itself in limitless terms. The whole
- 54:05Speaker 1: trouble has been that we reason as men and not
- 54:07Speaker 1: as gods. I say ye are gods and every one
- 54:10Speaker 1: of you sons of the Most High. The great law
- 54:13Speaker 1: of life is thinking and becoming. And when we think
- 54:17Speaker 1: from the lofty heights of the Spirit we will become great,
- 54:20Speaker 1: and not until then. Do not try to convince any
- 54:23Speaker 1: one of the truth, that will bring confusion. Truth is,
- 54:28Speaker 1: just as much as God is, and the whole world
- 54:30Speaker 1: is coming gradually into the realization of it. Keep the
- 54:34Speaker 1: truth within your own soul, lift your own self above
- 54:37Speaker 1: the confusion of life, and then people will believe. So
- 54:41Speaker 1: all our thought is to be created in the realization
- 54:44Speaker 1: of the one becoming the many, without struggle, without fear,
- 54:47Speaker 1: stripped of all that denies the truth. How limited we are,
- 54:51Speaker 1: how little our thought. How the human race rises in
- 54:55Speaker 1: the morning, plods off to the day's work, plods home
- 54:58Speaker 1: at night, sore and tired, eats and sleeps, works and dies.
- 55:04Speaker 1: As has been said of man, man works hard to
- 55:06Speaker 1: get money to buy food to get strength to work
- 55:08Speaker 1: hard to get money to buy food to get strength
- 55:11Speaker 1: to work hard to get money, etc. This was never intended,
- 55:15Speaker 1: it is the curse imposed on the man who believed
- 55:17Speaker 1: in two powers, one of good and one of evil.
- 55:21Speaker 1: To us there has come a greater vision, and to
- 55:23Speaker 1: those who believe and act as though it were true
- 55:25Speaker 1: it is proving itself. We must turn from all human
- 55:29Speaker 1: thought and experience. We are not downtrodden, depraved and miserable sinners,
- 55:35Speaker 1: born in sin and conceived in iniquity and shame, some
- 55:38Speaker 1: to go to heaven and some to hell and all
- 55:40Speaker 1: to the eternal glory of God. This is a lie,
- 55:43Speaker 1: it always was and always will be. But as long
- 55:47Speaker 1: as we believe in a lie it seems to be
- 55:48Speaker 1: present with us. Man is born of the Spirit of
- 55:52Speaker 1: God Almighty. is pure, holy, perfect, complete and undefiled, is
- 55:57Speaker 1: at one with his eternal principle of being. Many people
- 56:01Speaker 1: are finding this out and as a monument to its
- 56:03Speaker 1: truth millions are daily proving it for themselves. Somewhere down
- 56:07Speaker 1: the path of human experience we will all awake to
- 56:10Speaker 1: the realization that we ourselves are heaven or hell. We
- 56:13Speaker 1: live in spirit awaiting the touch of thought that believes.
- 56:17Speaker 1: All people look, a few see. Part 2 Practice INTRODUCTORY
- 56:25Speaker 1: The one who wishes to practice metaphysics must first, last,
- 56:29Speaker 1: and all the time realize that he himself is a
- 56:31Speaker 1: center of the divine activity, he must know that whatever
- 56:35Speaker 1: God is in the universal, he is in the world
- 56:38Speaker 1: in which he lives. He must know that all things
- 56:41Speaker 1: are made out of spirit, which is first cause, nothing
- 56:44Speaker 1: comes before spirit. Operating upon itself out of itself, it
- 56:49Speaker 1: makes what it will out of its own perfect desire.
- 56:52Speaker 1: He must think of the Spirit as the Father of
- 56:54Speaker 1: his own life, eternally bound to him, eternally binding him
- 56:58Speaker 1: to it. He must know that the Spirit not only
- 57:01Speaker 1: can manifest through him, but that it wishes to do so,
- 57:04Speaker 1: the Father seeks such to worship him. The practitioner who
- 57:08Speaker 1: understands the truth knows that as long as God exists,
- 57:11Speaker 1: he will exist, that he could no more become non-existent
- 57:14Speaker 1: than God could. Walking, Talking, Moving in God he must
- 57:19Speaker 1: not only see the divine being as the great unknown cause,
- 57:23Speaker 1: but he must go a step further and see God
- 57:25Speaker 1: as the great self-knowing, understanding power of infinite intelligence, thinking
- 57:29Speaker 1: through his own thought and willing into his own life
- 57:32Speaker 1: all power and all good. More than this, God must
- 57:35Speaker 1: become within his own soul the greater self, the inner life,
- 57:39Speaker 1: the inner light that is to light his path with
- 57:41Speaker 1: sure step to the attainment of the greater ideals. God
- 57:45Speaker 1: is to become the great friend of his life, understanding him,
- 57:49Speaker 1: and helping him at all times to understand all things.
- 57:52Speaker 1: No more books, no more teachers, no more preachers, creeds
- 57:56Speaker 1: or candlesticks will he ever need. The old methods must
- 58:00Speaker 1: vanish into their native nothingness, as the great realization that
- 58:04Speaker 1: God is all in his life dawns upon his awakened thought.
- 58:07Speaker 1: Not as the squire, when the king's at hand, withdraw
- 58:11Speaker 1: the stars, when dawns the sun's brave light. He must
- 58:15Speaker 1: know that not height, nor depth, nor any other thing,
- 58:18Speaker 1: can come between the soul and its perfect Creator. Too
- 58:22Speaker 1: long have we listened to people, now our own soul
- 58:25Speaker 1: shall speak in a language that is unmistakable, now shall
- 58:28Speaker 1: we ourselves become masters of all life and interpreters of
- 58:31Speaker 1: all mysteries. Now my Father and I are one. As
- 58:35Speaker 1: the Word of God goes forth and sets in motion
- 58:38Speaker 1: the all-law, so must we realize because we are one
- 58:41Speaker 1: with the Word that our own thought has the power
- 58:43Speaker 1: of expression. The one who wishes to heal must come
- 58:47Speaker 1: to see all evil as impersonal, fastening it to no one,
- 58:50Speaker 1: but realizing that it is simply false thought, the healer
- 58:53Speaker 1: knows that the word which he is to speak will
- 58:55Speaker 1: destroy this false impression, and by erasing it, it will vanish.
- 59:00Speaker 1: There should be absolutely no sense of responsibility beyond speaking
- 59:03Speaker 1: the word in positive faith, knowing. All struggle belongs to
- 59:08Speaker 1: the old order. In the new peace takes the place
- 59:11Speaker 1: of confusion, faith answers the cry of doubt and fear,
- 59:15Speaker 1: and the word is supreme. We must know that our
- 59:18Speaker 1: word is law, and cannot be set aside by the
- 59:20Speaker 1: false thought of the world. Every time that we state
- 59:24Speaker 1: a truth, We must know that that truth destroys all
- 59:26Speaker 1: that is unlike itself and frees the thought of the
- 59:29Speaker 1: one whom we wish to help and to heal. This
- 59:32Speaker 1: word must become the new law which frees. People are
- 59:36Speaker 1: sick because they think sickness and will be healed only
- 59:39Speaker 1: when they turn from this kind of thought and begin
- 59:41Speaker 1: to think in terms of health. The same power used
- 59:44Speaker 1: in two ways. There is only one power, but we
- 59:48Speaker 1: use it in two ways, either to destroy or to save.
- 59:52Speaker 1: The blessing and the curse are one and the same thing.
- 59:54Speaker 1: the power of mind used either affirmatively or negatively, the
- 59:58Speaker 1: word used in fear and doubt or in faith and assurance.
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: You do not have to understand material philosophy or be
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: learned in the books of the human race. All these
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: things may be good in their place, but to one
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: who understands the greater laws of life they are as
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: simple babblings. An infant crying in the night, an infant
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: crying for the light. And with no language but a cry.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: We no longer cry, we know. We no longer ask
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: if there be a God, or if we dare to
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: speak to Him lest we die, we do not analyze, dissect, affirm,
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: or deny, we know. We trust our own word because
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: first we know in whom we have believed. The sooner
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: the one who is striving to attain will realize that
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: truth must become revealed through his own soul, and not
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: that of another, the sooner he will attain. We must
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: then become immune from the race suggestion of an hypnotic
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: power that sets itself up as an authority. There is
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: no other authority than your own soul, as, there is
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: no law but that your soul has set. Leave authorities
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: to smaller minds, and to those who need a leader
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: because of this their own self-confessed weakness, and be free.
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: Dare to stand amidst the eternal way, and proclaim your
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: own atonement with all the power that there is, was,
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: or ever will be. Practically the whole human race is hypnotized,
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: thinking whatever it is told to think. We get our
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: concepts from our physical environment, we say, see sin, sickness
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: and death, misery, unhappiness and calamity. And this concept we
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: are giving to the creative, impersonal mind, and so we
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: are making a law for ourselves that will produce what
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: we believe in. Do we really know what law means?
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: It means that which will exact the utmost farthing from
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: our thought. Like produces like, attracts like, creates like. If
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: we could see our thought and take a picture of
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: it and of our conditions we would see no difference
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: between the two, for they are really but the inside
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: and the outside of the same thing. We cannot make
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: affirmations for fifteen minutes a day and spend the rest
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: of our time denying the thing which we have affirmed,
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: and affirming the thing which we have denied, and obtain
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: the results which we seek. We send out the word
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: and it sets the power in motion, then we think
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: the opposite thing which neutralizes the first word, and zero
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: is the result. We cannot demonstrate one iota beyond our
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: mental ability to conceive and steadfastly to embody. Infinite as
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: creative power is, receptive and quick as it is, it
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: can only become to us what we first think into it.
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: God can do for us only what He can do
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: through us. Dare to say, Behold I am He. Great
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: men have come and gone, and behold a greater now
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: stands here where I stand, and I am that one.
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: The world will laugh and perhaps scorn. The Christian world
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: will hold up its hands in holy horror, lest you blaspheme,
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: the unchristian world will smile knowingly. Neither the one nor
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: the other will understand, but the understanding of either counts
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: for nothing. You are now free, and your freedom will
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: yet save the world from itself. The great soul finds
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: within himself the divine companionship which he needs. He finds
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: within himself the peace which posseth all understanding, and the
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: power to do all things. all power. He speaks, his
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: word is law and it is done unto him of
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: all the power there is. His word knows itself to
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: be the law of life unto all for whom it
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: is spoken and who receive it. Healing the sick. We
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: shall be called upon to heal all manner of disease,
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: to comfort the sorrowing and to bring peace to the distressed.
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: First we must heal ourselves. When we are healing others
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: we are also healing ourselves. A healer's work takes place
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: within himself. This idea of sending out thought and holding
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: thought is all a mistake. Think, come into being not
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: only by taking thought, but by knowing that the word
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: is infinite. This word is in your own mouth, and
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: there alone can it be spoken. Here your responsibility begins
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: and here it ends, in your own mouth. You must
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: feel no responsibility for the recovery of your patient, for
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: it brings confusion and disturbance to be always wondering if
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: it is working. It must work, if you have the
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: sure faith, and your patient is receptive. You are dealing
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: with the same power that said, Let there be light,
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: and there was light. If your patient is suffering from
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: a belief that he is dying of some dread disease,
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: you must know that when you speak the word it
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: will destroy this false belief and set him free. There
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: must be no doubt about the power in the word
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: which you speak. It should be said in perfect calm,
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: in peace, and with absolute faith that it will work.
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: This word then establishes the law of life unto the patient,
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: it casts out all fear, it destroys all false sense
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: of a material life and realizes that all is an
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: expression of a perfect God, and so leaves nothing that
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: can sin, be sick, suffer or die. When you are
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: as sure of this as that Vaughan breathe, when you
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: truly know within yourself, your patient will be healed, provided
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: he also believes. If he does not believe it is
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: not your fault, and you will have done for him
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: all that can be done. Denials Some people teach the
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: use of denials. This must be settled by each individual
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: for himself. Here and at all times we must settle
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: every question from within and not from without. No living
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: soul can say how another should or should not work.
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: Beware of the danger of a self-appointed authority, this danger
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: is as apt to come into new thought as it
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: was in the old. No one is your authority on anything.
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: Let us look into the philosophy of denials. We find
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: that many people teach and practice them, and we do
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: not wish in any way to criticize them. Their reasoning
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: is this, all disease is an image of thought held
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: in mind until it appears in the body. It is
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: true that without the ability to think man could not
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: be sick. If he thinks a sick thought it will
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: make him sick, when he changes his thought and thinks health,
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: he is healed. It is taught that since sickness is
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: negative thought, it must be counteracted by a positive thought,
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: and that the best way is to deny the sick
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: and affirm the positive thought, for instance, there is no matter,
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: and nothing can be the matter. This man has no
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: material stomach, he is spiritual and not material, his lungs
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: are not made of matter, they are spiritual ideas, I
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: deny that man can be sick or suffer or die.
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: All this may be accurate. Man is a spiritual idea,
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: and so must be perfect in his real nature, but
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: there is a question if this is the better way.
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: When we look into the creative way of the Spirit
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: we find it impossible for denial to enter, as the
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: Spirit recognizes no opposite to its own nature. It knows that,
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: I am and beside me there is no other. The
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: Spirit does not deny anything, it simply affirms itself to
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: be that which it desires to be. Seeing and recognizing
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: no opposite to itself, it finds no need of denial, indeed,
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: this thought need not enter the mind, if we are
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: working with the spirit we need not deny but state
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: the affirmative attitude of mind, realizing that we are dealing
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: with the only power that exists. There is a subtle
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: danger in using denials, we may deny to such an
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: extent as to erect a barrier or build a mountain
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: to overcome. Once realize that God makes things out of
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: himself simply by speaking, and you will never again use
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: denials in treating. All that needs changing is the false thought,
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: and by affirming that your word destroys everything but itself
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: you will embody all that a denial could. In those
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: systems that teach denials we find that the more enlightened
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: ones are gradually using the affirmative method, and as this
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: is the growth of experience there can be no doubt
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: that it is the better method. Of one thing we
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: may be sure, the spirit never denies. It simply knows
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: that I am. The Use of Affirmations The affirmation is
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: the great weapon of the healer, it is in alignment
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: with the way of the original creative spirit and is
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: the true use of the word of all power. We
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: need only to say that our word is the law
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: unto the case and calmly state what we want to
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: be done, and then say and do nothing that contradicts
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: it and wait for the fulfillment of that word. There
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: is a power that operates on what we say, and
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: it is done unto us, and we need have no
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: fear about the results. If I am treating Mary Jones
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: I need only say I am helping her. and go
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: to work within myself to realize that she is now
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: a perfect being, made in the image of God. I
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: must know that I am destroying all imperfection, when I
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: know within myself that I am speaking the truth and
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: realize that she is perfect, the healing is done as
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: far as I am concerned. If she received she is healed.
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: I am not responsible for her receptivity. Know that there
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: is a power that corresponds to your own mental attitude
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: and you will see that the way you are believing
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: is what makes things happen the way they do. Always
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: believe in what you are doing, never see the negative
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: side of life, never talk about it, or listen to
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: talk of other people, and never think about or see imperfection.
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: and you will have no trouble in making demonstrations. The
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: Highest Attitude of Mind The highest attitude of mind, from
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: which all else springs, is one of perfect calm and
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: absolute trust in the Spirit. The one who can with
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: perfect confidence look into the future and with perfect ease
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: of mind rest in the present, and who never looks backward,
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: but who has learned to be still in his own
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: soul and wait upon the Spirit, he is the one
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: who will the most completely demonstrate the supremacy of spiritual
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: thought over all so-called material resistance. Be still and know
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: that I am God. Non-resistance Resist not evil and it
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: will flee from you. Here is a statement of one
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: of the great laws of our being. When we resist
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: we make a mental image of the thing we are fighting,
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: and that tends to have it created for us. When
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: we learn to look only at what we want and
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: never at what we do not want, we will no
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: longer resist anything. Suffer it to be so now. You
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: need not try to change the world. Let it alone,
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: all people are doing the best they can. No one
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: needs to be saved but yourself, and the sooner you
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: realize this the sooner you will attain. Get over that
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: holier-than-thou attitude. It is an illusion that many people suffer from,
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: especially in the religious world. The world is all right,
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: it is not going to hell. it is on the
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: way to heaven. It is getting good so fast that
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: in the process many things are being overturned and confusion
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: appears to be on the surface. A great change is
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: taking place, and on the surface the results are as
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: yet a little mixed, but underneath, the power is at
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: work destroying all unlike itself. In time all will come
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: to see this. What a load of responsibility we assumed
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: that we were never meant to carry. Remember that in
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: the divine plan no mistakes are made and that if
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: God could have done it in a better way He
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: would have done it differently. No souls are lost, for
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: all live and move and have their being in Him,
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: and God is not a God of the dead but
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: of the living, for in His sight all are alive.
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: Too long have we believed in the negative simply because
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: we have allowed ourselves to become hypnotized by a few
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: strong-minded people and by those who have imposed upon the
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: race a mass of false philosophy. Be alive. There is
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: no place in the new order for dead ones. The
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: true metaphysician is alive to all that is useful. Filling
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: his place in the events of the human race, he
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: takes part in all its labor and in all its fun.
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: Pessimism must be relegated to the scrap heap. There is
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: no place among the living for the dead. Let the
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: dead bury their dead. Follow thou me. Do not hesitate
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: to enter into the game of life. but do so
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: with a zest and an enthusiasm that overflows with life.
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: Fill yourself with the radiance of a life running over
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: with power and usefulness. Then shall the world see your light.
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: People in the new thought above all others should enter
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: into the business world, into educational vocations, into politics, into
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: every walk of life, and there prove before a waiting world,
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: tired of itself, that a man's a man, with this difference,
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: not a son of man, but a son of God.
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: Be happy. How can we hope to make the world
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: see the right way unless we overflow with joy? The
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: world has now too many sad faces. We see them everywhere,
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: that resigned look that seems to say, one rebuff more
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: or less makes no difference, I am already so sad
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: that nothing matters, I can bear it. This was all
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: right when we thought everything was all wrong. but now
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: we know that, all's well with the world, we must
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: get over this depression which robs us of the power
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: of attraction of the good things of life, and enter in.
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: The man who is always glad will surround himself with
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: people who are happy, and life will be a continual enjoyment,
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: this robs no one, it does not make a race
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: of irresponsible people, it makes a world of joy, a
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: world that is good to live in. No one wants
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: to associate with the dead. People are looking for a
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: more abundant expression of life, not for depression and fault-finding.
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: Find fault with no one, and more than this find
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: no fault with yourself. Get over the thought of condemning
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: people and things. People and things are all right, let
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: them alone and enjoy life. Your very atmosphere will cheer
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: and uplift the people who contact you, and a new
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: life will enter into them. Overflow. As it's given me
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: to perceive, I most certainly believe, when a man's glad
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: plumb through, God's pleased with him same-sue. Live in the present.
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: Life is for us today. There will be no change
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: for tomorrow unless we do the changing today. Today we
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: are setting in motion the power of tomorrow. Today is
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: God's day, and we must extract from it what of
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: life we are to live. Tomorrow in the divine course
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: of events will care for itself. The soul that learns
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: to live in the great gladness of today will never
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: weary of life but will find that he is living
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: in an eternal here and now. Now, all good is his, now,
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: all life, truth and love are his, now, he has
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: entered in, and the good things of life are his today. Lord,
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: for tomorrow and its needs I do not pray, make
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: me to do thy will just for today. Let your
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: soul sing today and the song that comes tomorrow will
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: be all the sweeter. will ring out over the vistas
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: of time with an unmistakable clearness. Here is a soul
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: who knows himself and has found life. Within himself, who
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: has met God today. No more waiting, no more longing,
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: no more weary roads to travel. He has arrived. The
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: goal is one and peace has come at last. Today.
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: See the good in all things. Learn to see God
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: in all manifestation, in all people, through all events. The
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: ordinary person sees only the lump of matter. Not so
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: with the awakened soul. He sees in all things the
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: divine mind at work molding out into expression what it
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: feels itself to be of life, of color, of form
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: and beauty. There are some illusioned ones who claim that
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: what we see is all false and that the so-called
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: material universe is an unreality. What a mistake! What we
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: see is the body of God, full, free, complete, whole.
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: A primrose by the river's brim, a yellow primrose was
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: to him, and it was nothing more. He never saw
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: the idea behind it was seen only as matter, matter, matter,
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: yet what he could have seen was God's thought of
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: himself coming out into wonderful beauty, and color, and form,
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: the infinite one manifesting in an infinite variety of forms.
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: What do you see when you look upon the human form,
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: the crowning glory of God's perfect creation? Matter, matter, matter. Flesh,
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: blood and bones. Indeed, these may be passing into expression,
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: but what of the idea, what of the reality of
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: the body? This body of ours is as real as
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: God is real. It would not be if it were
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: an illusion. The very touch of the flesh should send
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: a thrill through the whole body, bringing up its vibration
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: to a higher pitch, to a finer form. The body
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: is not one mass of pollution. it is the temple
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: of the living God and should be so thought of.
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: Too long have we condemned it, and now we must
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: free it by reversing the process. Of all things on
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: earth the human body is the most beautiful, the most
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: wonderful and the most godlike. If you do not love
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: your brother whom you have seen, how can you love
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: God whom you have not seen? Human magnetism is not hypnotism,
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: it is the divinity of man in expression. And when
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: we learn to convert human passion into divine love, to
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: transmute the lower into the higher, we shall have with
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: us a power of attraction against which nothing can stand.
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: He who hath ears to hear, let him hear. When
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: we behold a beautiful sunset we should see the wonderful
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: thought of God, the radiance of His presence. In the
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: strength of the hills we should see the strength of
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: the Spirit. And seeing all things as spiritual ideas, we
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: should learn to love them, because God has made them
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: and given them to us to use. The soul who
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: in ecstasy can rush up to a tree and embrace
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: it realizes more of God than all the bigoted priests
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: who have ever lived. The one who can sniff the
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: ocean breeze with delight feels the presence of the divine
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: being more keenly than does the one who kneels in
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: despair before an awful God of justice. Learn then how
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: to appreciate nature and nature's God. Spend much time in
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: the out-of-doors, look up at the stars, let them be
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: your companions, Tread the pathless ways of the trees and
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: the giant forests and see God in everything that you
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: look upon, the God of the everywhere. Be expectant. Expect
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: the best to happen. Don't sit around waiting for trouble,
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: have absolutely nothing to do with it. It is no
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: part of the divine plan. It is an illusion of
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: the material sense. One who has learned to trust will
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: not be surprised even when he finds things coming from
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: the most unexpected sources. All things are man's to use
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: and then let go of. What more can we ask?
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: We want nothing that we have to keep. things are
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: to use not to hold. Expect that everything is to
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: come your way. Be content and cheerful if you wish
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: to attract from out the store of the infinite. Open
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: up your whole consciousness to the greater possibilities of life.
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: Line up with the big things. When you speak the
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: word expect it to happen. Know that it must be
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: as you say. This will not be fooling yourself, it
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: will simply be using the law as it is meant
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: to be used. Expanding our thought. All things come to
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: us through the use of our thought. If we have
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: a small concept of life we will always be doing
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: small things. First in the creative series is the word,
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: but the word carries us no further than our consciousness
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: back of it. Unless we are constantly expanding our thought
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: we are not growing. Growth is the law of life
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: and it is necessary. We cannot stand still. If you
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: want to do a new thing, get a new thought
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: and then you will have the power of attraction which
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: has the possibility of drawing to you the circumstances which
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: will make for the fulfillment of your desires. Get over
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: the old idea of limitation. Overcome all precedents and set
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: yourself in the new order of things. If you want
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: to build a railroad, you will never do it unless
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: you get over the idea that the most you can
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: hope for in life is to sell peanuts. Let the
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: people sell peanuts for a living who think in the
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: terms of peanuts. Get out of the rut. God has
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: created you for a glorious future, dare to fling out
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: into mind the greater assurances about yourself. The power of
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: a treatment. A treatment has as much power as we
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: put into the word which we speak when we are
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: giving it. This does not mean screwing up our mind
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: or using our will power or using force from the
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: material standpoint. It means simply knowing that what we say
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: will be done unto us of a power which can
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: do anything that is given it to do. We must
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: know that our word breaks down every material law and
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: sets the patient free to express God. We must know
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: that the word would endure even though all else should fail.
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: Heaven and earth will pass away but my word will accomplish.
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: In calm confidence and perfect faith, speak and wait upon
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: the perfect law. Get that mental attitude that never wavers.
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: Be sure and it will be done. Repeating the treatment.
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: One treatment would heal anything if it were not for
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: the fact that people are constantly receiving false suggestions from
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: the outer life. As it now stands we should treat
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: until we get results, always expecting that it will happen
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: at once. Every treatment should be complete, and at the
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: close we should always realize that it is done. The
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: word spoken once from the mind that knows is immediately
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: taken up by the mind in which we live, and
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: this mind begins to create around the word, which is
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: the seed, the thing thought of. We must speak that
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: word with authority. There can be no wondering if it
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: is going to work. When we plant a seed in
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: the ground and water and care for it, we never
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: doubt but a plant will spring into being. so it
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: is with the word. It is acted upon by some
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: power which we do not see, but that the power
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: is there there is no doubt, since all who go
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: about it get results. As Thomas Edison says of electricity,
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: it is, use it, so we say of mind, it is,
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: use it. Always remember that your every thought is the
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: way that you are treating, since it is the way
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: that you are thinking. Impersonal Healing The very presence of
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: one that understands the truth will have a great power
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: of healing. The reason for this is that we are
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: all in mind, and we have with us at all
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: times our thought, and since all manifestation is the result
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: of mind in action, and we are thinking beings and
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: are always causing mind to act, the very presence of
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: our thought will have some power to act upon whatever
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: we are thinking about. We are dealing with a power
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: which in itself is limitless. We limit it, and so
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: it cannot become to us the bigger thing. Of itself
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: the power is the same that made the worlds, and
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: it cannot realize any sense of limitation. They could not
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: enter in because of their unbelief and because they limited
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: the Holy One of Israel. Stop limiting things. Things are
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: as big as we make them, no more, no less.
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: There is room at the top. Get on top of everything,
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: and dare to dominate the earth. All things are given
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: us to use, make use of them. Everything is limitless,
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: and we must see the truth that the fault is
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: not in the law but in ourselves when we fail.
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: Not with God but with man. Dare, dare, dare. Think
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: of the bigness of things in the universe, think of
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: the number of grains of sand, the profusion of all life,
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: and never again limit anything. All is yours to use.
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: Jesus would never have become the Christ unless He had
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: had the courage to say, Behold, I am He. You
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: will never attain until in some degree you are able
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: to say the same thing of yourself. We must learn
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: to reach out and take what is meant for us,
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: the greater life, the all good. People say, yes, but
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: how do you do it? Simply know that God makes
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: things out of himself by speaking the word, and that
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: in your own life you can do the same. All
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: people can think, and all people can speak, at least mentally,
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: this is all that you need to begin on. The
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: Word is at the center of all creation and is
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: first cause, the starting point of all that you see.
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: The Word is in your own mouth, and all that
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: you have to do is to speak it. The trouble
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: is that we are speaking the Word, and in the
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: next breath we are denying its power by seeing something
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: that contradicts it. If the Word is the way that
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: God creates, it is the right way. If it works
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: for God, shall it not work for us? As yet
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: our Word is more or less imperfect. But more and
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: more it will become perfect, and so the outer condition
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: will be brought up to the inner word. All words
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: have as much power as we put into them when
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: we speak. The word is already in our own mouths.
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: That word is all that you will ever need to
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: bring happiness, health and success to you. Do you wish
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: to live in a perfect world peopled with friends who
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: love you, surrounded by all that is beautiful and pleasing?
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: Do you wish to have the good things of life?
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: There is but one way and that way is as
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: sure as that the sun shines. Forget all else and
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: think only upon what you want. Control all thought that
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: denies the real, and as the mist disappears before the
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: sun so shall all adversity melt before the shining radiance
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: of your own exalted thought. The prodigal son remained a
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: prodigal only so long as he chose to do so.
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: When the thought came to him to return he was
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: greeted by the father with outstretched hands. So shall we
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: find that when we turn to that world which is
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: perfect there will be something that will turn with us,
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: and we shall behold the new heaven and the new earth,
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: not in some far-off place somewhere beyond the clouds, but
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: here and now shall we become free. We must do
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: away with all that hinders the true growth, all the
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: little thoughts that hinder us from becoming. Human strife comes
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: from the thought that there is not enough to go around.
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: Forget it. We cannot use even what we see, and
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: what we do not see is infinite. You will rob
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: no one by becoming prosperous, and the laws that underlie
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: this state of being are simple and easy to understand,
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: and not hard to attain for the one who is
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: willing to let go of the negative state of being.
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: Prosperity Here are a few simple rules for prosperity that
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: are as sure of working as that water is sure
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: to be wet. First remember that nothing happens by chance.
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: All is law and all is order. You create your
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: own laws every time you think. There is something, call
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: it what you will, but there is a power around
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: you that knows and that understands all things. This power
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: works like the soil, it receives the seed of your
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: thought and at once begins to operate upon it. It
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: will receive whatever you give to it and will create
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: for you and throw back at you whatever you think
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: into it. This means that the practitioner should be very
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: careful how he is thinking at all times. Not alone
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: in the moments of the deeper silence are retreating our patience.
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: but perhaps more than this we are treating them in
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: an impersonal way at all times. When we take a
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: patient into our thought for a treatment there will be
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: a constant stream of consciousness flowing out to him, during
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: all the time that he is in our care. We
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: should be very careful of our thoughts as we realize
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: the deep truths of mental action and reaction. What is
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: the spiritual mind? What is true spirituality? Many people have
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: asked this and as many have answered it. I do
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: not pretend to know more about this all-important topic than others,
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: but to the thinking person who has come to realize
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: that all is love, yet at the same time all
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: is governed by law, there must be a different answer
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: given than the one we ordinarily hear. The average religious
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: person thinks that spirituality must manifest in some unnatural way,
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: such as giving up all personal pleasure and becoming resigned
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: to whatever happens. That we must give up most of
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: what life holds here, that in some far-off future perhaps
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: we may attain this was not the case with the
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: man Jesus. We have more accounts of his being at
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: feasts and weddings and similar gatherings than at other places.
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: His first miracle was performed at a wedding feast, and
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: we must remember that here he even turned water into
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: wine for the pleasure of the guests of the house.
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: Perhaps we have made a mistake about what true spirituality means.
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: Other people think we must live some kind of an
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: excluded life in order to obtain. Perhaps this may be
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: true of the weak ones. But what of the wood?
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: What of the busy street? Is it not to be
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: saved also? Jesus spent much time with the common people
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: as well as with the rich. And it is certain
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: that he also spent much time alone with the spirit.
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: What is the spirit, anyway? We all answer, why of course,
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: it is God. Where is the spirit? It is present
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: at all times and in all places. True spirituality must
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: simply mean coming to realize the presence of this spirit.
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: It must be coming to rely upon it more than
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: anything else. The one then who is the most spiritual
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: is simply the one who relies the most, that is all.
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: No matter where he is, he must rely, he must trust,
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: he must believe. We do not have to give up
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: anything but negative thought and act. We do not want
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: to do anything that contradicts the forward march of the
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: unfoldment of the Spirit, so all that we think and
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: do must be in line with that which is right.
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: But who shall say what is and what is not right?
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: Remember this forever, only your own soul shall say what
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: is right and what is wrong. To thine own self
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: be true, and it shall follow as the night the day,
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: thou canst not then be false to any man. Look
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: to no one for guidance. This is the blind leading
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: the blind. The Almighty has put the truth into your
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: own soul, look there and there alone for it. Many
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: people seem to think that for a man to look
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: spiritual he must have no color in his face, have
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: some kind of faraway truth, he must be peculiar either
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: in looks or in the way he dresses. To one
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: who knows the truth, both praise and blame sound alike,
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: but from the human standpoint at least a person cannot
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: help being amused at the way in which the world
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: judges true spirituality. My idea of true spirituality is that
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: a man should live a perfectly normal life, entering into
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: and enjoying all in life that is clean and good.
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: He should place himself absolutely under the divine guidance. Other
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: than this he will seem just like other people, neither
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: better nor worse. Get over all kinds of unnatural thought
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: and remember that all is good. Neither criticize nor condemn
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: people or things. You are spiritual in so far as
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: you trust in the Spirit, at all times, in all places,
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: under all conditions. In order to do this you do
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: not have to seclude yourself from the world. To do
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: so is an open confession of your own weakness and lack.
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: There are moments when it is best to be alone
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: with the power. From these moments we gather strength. To
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: keep that strength to ourselves is pure selfishness. Walk, talk,
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: live with the human race, hand in hand with all
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: people and unified with all events, live and love and learn.
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: Be natural and normal. If you seek to enter some
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: other way it must all be done over again, for
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: no one lives or dies unto himself but unto all people.
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: The Church of God The Church of God is not
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: built with hands, it is eternal in the heavens, it
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: is not lighted with candles. Its dome is heaven and
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: it is lighted by the stars of God's illumined thought,
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: and each member in his separate star shall draw the
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: thing as he sees it, for the God of things
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: as they are. Here all people recognize the God within
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: their own souls and ask for and see no other God.
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: When you can look upon all creation as the perfect
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: work of a perfect God, you will become a member
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: of this church. I doubt very much if the church
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: universal admits members from the church individual. When you can
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: see in the saint and the sinner one and the
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: same person, when you can realize that the one who
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: kneels before the altar and the one who lies drunk
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: in the street is the same one, when you can
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: love the one as much as you do the other,
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: no doubt you will be able to qualify. As it
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: now is we have too many preachers who do not understand,
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: that have no purpose, too many prayers, too many creeds,
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: too many teachers, that have no message. Too many churches,
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: too many learned people, and too few thinkers. the kingdom
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: of heaven cometh not by observation. It is the, still,
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: small voice within the soul that speaks. The expanded thought
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: will never wish to join or be joined to. Nothing
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: human can contain it. It feels the limitation of form
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: and ceremony and longs for the freedom of the Spirit,
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: the great out-of-doors, the great God of the everywhere. Alone
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: in the desert, the forest, or by the restless ocean,
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: looking up at the stars, man breathes forth these words,
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: with only my Maker and me. The Path to Prosperity
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: The healing of conditions is no different from other healing.
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: All healing is the constructive use of a mental law
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: which the world is gradually beginning to understand something of.
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: Again we must reiterate the principle of all life. We
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: are surrounded by a thinking medium from which all things come.
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: We think into it, it does the rest. Since we
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: are thinking beings and cannot stop thinking, and since creative
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: mind receives our thought and cannot stop creating, it must
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: always be making something for us. What it will make
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: depends absolutely and only upon what we are thinking, and
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: what we will attract will depend entirely upon our holding
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: thought to the complete exclusion of all that would contradict it.
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: It is not enough that we should sit down and say,
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: I am one with infinite life. This must mean more
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: than mere words. It must be felt, it must become
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: an embodiment of a positive mental attitude. It is not
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: claiming something to be true which is going to happen,
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: it is not sending out an aspiration, or a desire,
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: or a supplication, or a prayer, it must be the
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: embodiment of that which knows that now it is. This
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: is more than holding a thought. Our ability to attract
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: will depend upon the largeness of our thought as we
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: feel that it flows out into a great universal creative power.
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: We are dealing with the form in thought, and not
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: with the form in matter. We have learned that when
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: we get the true form in thought and permeate it
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: with the spirit of belief we will see the thought
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: made flesh without any further effort on our part. Thought
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: can attract to us only that which we first mentally embody.
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: We cannot attract to ourselves that which we are not.
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: We can attract in the outer only that which we
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: have first completely mentally embodied within, that which has become
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: a part of our mental makeup, a part of our
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: inner understandings. A man going into business will attract to
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: himself that which he thinks about the most. If he
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: is a barber he will attract people who want to
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: be shaved or have their hair cut. If he sells
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: shoes he will attract people who want to buy shoes.
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: See Creative Mind and Success, by the author of the
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: present volume. So it is with everything, we will not
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: only do this, but we will also attract as much
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: of anything as we mentally embody. This is apt to
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: be overlooked in the study of metaphysics. It is not
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: enough to say that we attract what we think, we
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: become what we think, and what we become we will attract.
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: Do not become merely sentimental about this. Your life is
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: governed by more than a sentiment, it is governed by law,
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: something that cannot be broken, something that picks up every
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: mental attitude and does something with it. This fundamental proposition
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: of the law should then work out into our conditions.
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: Always remember that it does just as we think. It
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: does not argue, it simply does the thing as we
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: think it. Now how are we thinking? Never ask a
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: patient how he is feeling, ask, how are you thinking today?
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: This is the only thing that matters. How are we
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: thinking about life and our conditions? Are we receiving the
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: race suggestion, are we saying that there is not enough
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: to go around? If we are saying this, it is
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: our belief, and there is something that will see that
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: it becomes a part of our expression. Most people, through
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: ignorance of the higher laws of their being, are suffering
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: from the thoughts imposed upon them from a negative and
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: doubtful world. We who are claiming the use of the
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: greater law must emancipate ourselves from all sense of limitation.
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: We are not to be governed by the outer confusion
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: but by the inner realization. We are to judge life
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: not from the way that things in the past have
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: been done, but from the way that the Spirit does things.
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: The Way of the Spirit Again let us say that
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: the spirit creates by becoming the thing that it thinks.
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: There is no other possible way in which it could work.
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: Since it is all and there is no other, the
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: thought of opposing forces never enters into its mental working,
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: when we are judging from the outer we are not
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: working in line with the power that we should be using.
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: We must come to see that there is only one
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: power and that we are touching it at all points,
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: for there is not a power of poverty and a
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: power of prosperity. There is the one becoming the many.
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: it makes and it unmakes that a higher form may
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: appear to express through it. All that is not in
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: line with its forward movement will soon pass away, for
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: it recognizes no opposite. As far as we are concerned
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: what we are and what we are to become depends
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: only upon what we are thinking, for this is the
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: way that we are using creative power. The sooner we
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: get away from the thought that we have to create,
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: the sooner we will be able to work in line
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: with the spirit. Always man uses, he never creates anything.
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: The united intelligence of the human race could not make
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: a single rosebud, it does not know enough. But our
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: slightest thought adrift in mind causes the same power that
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: makes all things to create for us. The great error
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: of the race is, and always has been, that men
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: have thought to give a physical reason for things. When
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: that reason has not answered the problems of life they
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: have sought out some other reason just as physical. The
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: fact that they are all wrong is shown in that
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: every generation has found a different reason. When truth is
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: found it will also be found that it never changes
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: to suit the whims of the human fancy. This is
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: proven by the fact that whatever of the real truth
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: the race has discovered has never been changed. The truth
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: that was revealed to the prophets of old has never changed,
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: it is the same today as it was thousands of
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: years ago. Whoever touches truth, no matter in what generation,
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: will always get the same answer. The great truth that
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: was revealed from Moses to the time of Jesus is
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: the same truth that is still revealed to all who
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: will accept it, it is simply this. we are now
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: living in a spiritual universe governed by mental laws of
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: cause and effect. Moses saw it mostly from the standpoint
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: of the law of cause and effect, an eye for
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: an eye. What does this mean? It means, as Jesus said,
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: as a man sows, so shall he reap. Moses saw
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: the law. Jesus saw not only the law, I am
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: come not to destroy but to fulfill, but he saw
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: behind the law the reason for it. and revealed behind
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: all law the great lawgiver, a God of love working
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: out the great inner concepts of His own being in
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: harmony and in beauty, filled with peace, causing the sun
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: to shine alike upon the just and the unjust. Jesus
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: did not try to overcome the use of law, He
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: understood all law and He well knew that all law
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: was at His command. He did not break the law,
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: He fulfilled it. So we must find that all is
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: at our command through these same laws. The man who
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: understands law and complies with it will have no difficulty
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: in demonstrating that it is as true for him as
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: it ever was for anyone else. What, then, are the
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: laws underlying prosperity? The first is this, and we must
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: not try to escape it, Thou shalt have no other
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: gods before me. This me is spirit. We are, then,
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: to trust only in the activity of spirit for what
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: we need. But the world will say, Human things come
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: through human agencies. This may be true, but we must
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: realize that the power we are dealing with also has
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: within its own mind all people and all things. We
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: do not have to treat people, what we have to
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: do is to embody principle. Principle may use people, but
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: that is no part of our responsibility. Ultimately all is spirit,
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: and spirit which is the beginning is also the end
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: of all manifestation. I am the Alpha and the Omega.
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: Our life, then, is to be governed by Spirit. We
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: need look no further. It will do for us all
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: that we will ever ask, provided we believe. Why, then,
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: has it not done so? The answer is that it
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: has already done so, but we have not received it.
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: The Spirit may offer, but we must accept the gift
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: before it can be made. Behold, I stand at the
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: door and knock. We must understand that this receiving is
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: a mental process. it is one of mentally taking. The way, then,
- 1:41:45Speaker 1: that we are using mind through our thought is the
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: way that we are treating ourselves for prosperity. So simple,
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: and yet we have not understood it. If a man says,
- 1:41:55Speaker 1: I have not, he will not receive, if he says,
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: I have, he will receive. To those who have shall
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: be given, and to those who have not shall be
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: taken away even that which they have. This is a
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: veiled statement of the law of cause and effect. When
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: you send out into mind the thought that you have not,
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: it accepts the idea and takes away from you even
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: that which you have. Reverse the process and say, I have,
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: and it will at once set to work to create
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: for you even more than you now possess. You will
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: readily see then that you are not dealing with two
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: powers but with one, and that it operates through your
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: own thought, doing unto all even as they believe. The
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: Level of Consciousness Since all is mind, and it is
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: done unto us as we mentally think, All life is
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: simply a law of thought activity of consciousness. In our
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: life the power flows through us. If we provide a
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: big receptivity, it will do a big thing, if, on
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: the other hand, we only believe in a small way,
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: the activity must be a small one. The spirit can
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: do for us only what it can do through us.
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: Unless we are able to provide the consciousness, it cannot
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: make the gift. Few people have a great consciousness, and
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: this explains why so few excel. The power behind all
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: things of itself is without limit, it is all power,
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: in us it has to become what we make it.
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: We carry within our own soul the key to all expression,
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: but few enter in. The door is not seen with
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: the physical eye, and as yet but few have gained
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: the ability to see, the majority merely look. Realizing, then,
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: that while the power is limitless it must become operative
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: through our own thought, we shall see that what we
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: need is not some greater power, but that what we
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: really need is a greater consciousness, a deeper realization of life,
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: a grander concept of being. We must unify ourselves with
- 1:43:49Speaker 1: the great whole. The man who dares to fling his
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: thought out into universal intelligence with the positive assurance of
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: one who knows and dares to claim all there is
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: will find that it will be done. God will honor
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: his request. On the other hand, The one who fears
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: to speak lest God will smite will find himself smitten
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: of the law, not because God is angry, but because
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: it is done as he believes. We have a right
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: to have and should expect to have in this world
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: all that will make for the comfort and for the
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: luxuries of life. What matter how much we have, if
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: we rob no other soul to get it? Shall not
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: the power that so lavishly spreads itself out into nature
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: give to us its highest expression, all that we can ask?
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: We dishonor God when we claim less than all. Until
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: we can expand our thoughts so that we shall be
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: able to say also, I am, we need not expect
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: to get great results. The soul that knows its own
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: divinity is the great soul, before it all else must bend,
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: to it all else must gravitate. Enlarge your thought processes.
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: Away with the little personal thoughts of things, and dare
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: to think in universal terms about all things. The universe
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: is running over with good, it is for you, but
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: you must believe and then take it. Do you dare
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: to believe that your own word is invincible? When you
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: speak it how do you feel? Is it limitless, is
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: it all power, is all power given to you in
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: heaven and on earth? Are you one with the only
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: power that there is? Until you can say yes to
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: all these questions and not simply believe them but know them,
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: you cannot hope to attain. It is useless in making
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: a demonstration to beg for things. as well beg that
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: water should be wet or that fire should be hot.
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: Things are, we must take them. Your word has only
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: the power that you put into it, no more and
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: no less. We are all held accountable for every word
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: that we speak because all is the action and the
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: reaction of mind. Man is his own heaven and his
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: own hell. We start a new enterprise and wonder what
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: the chances of success are, have we realized that the
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: outer is simply the inner manifested? When we go to
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: a new place we shall find there only what we
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: have taken with us. If we have taken success we
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: will find success, if, on the other hand, we have
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: taken failure we will find failure. This is the law,
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: none can avoid it, none need try. Every living soul
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: is a law unto his own life. There is no
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: law but my own soul shall set. Nothing can come
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: upon the path of the soul but that thing that
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: the soul attracts. Practice for Prosperity Prosperity is in our
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: own hands to do with as we will, but we
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: will never reach it until we learn to control our thought.
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: We must see only what we want and never allow
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: the other things to enter. If we wish activity we
- 1:46:43Speaker 1: must be active in our thought, we must see activity
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: and speak it into everything that we do. The spoken
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: word shall bring it to pass. We speak the word,
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: it is brought to pass of the power that we
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: speak it into. We can only speak the word that
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: we understand, the activity will correspond to our inner concepts.
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: If they are large the results will be large. The
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: thing to do is to unify ourselves with all the
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: biggest ideas that we can compass, and realizing that our
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: ideas govern our power of attraction, we should be constantly
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: enlarging within ourselves. We must realize our at-one-ment with all
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: power and know that our word will bring it to pass.
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: We speak the word, It is brought to pass of
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: as consciousness grows it will manifest in enlarged opportunities and
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: a greater field of action. Most people think in the
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: terms of universal powers. Feel that you are surrounded by
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: all the power that there is when you speak and
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: never doubt but that what you say will spring into being.
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: We should speak right out into mind all that we
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: desire and believe that it will be done unto us.
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: Never take the time to listen to those who doubt.
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: We observe that their philosophy has done but little to
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: save the world or themselves. Here again let the dead
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: bury the dead and see to it that you maintain
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: in your own thought what you want, letting go of
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: all else. Think only what you want to happen and
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: never let yourself get mentally lazy and sluggish taking on
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: the suggestions of poverty and limitation. See yourself as being
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: in the position that you desire, mentally dwell upon it
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: and then speak with perfect assurance that it is done,
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: and then forget it and try in the law. This
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: will answer all needs. If you want to do this
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: for someone else, all that you will need to do
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: is to think of them and go through the same
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: process of mind action. You will be sending out the
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: truth for them, and mind being always active will not
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: contradict what you have said. Remember that you cannot hope
- 1:48:39Speaker 1: to get results unless you keep but the one idea
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: and do not mix thoughts in your mind. All is yours,
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: but you must take it. The taking is always a
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: mental process, it is believing absolutely. This is divine principle.
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: Conclusion Principle itself is simplicity, yet it is infinite it
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: is infinite mind and manifestation of mind. We live in
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: a spiritual universe governed through thought, or the word which
- 1:49:06Speaker 1: first becomes law. this law creates what we call matter.
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: Jesus Christ discerned the truth about spiritual principles more than
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: any other man who ever lived, and he proclaimed the
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: eternal reign of law and understanding, absolute, complete, perfect, and
- 1:49:21Speaker 1: he found that law to be operative through his own
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: thought and the power of his own word. And when
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: you and I shall cease looking outside ourselves to any
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: person and shall realize that whatever truth and whatever power
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: we shall have must flow through us, when we begin
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: to interpret our own natures, we shall begin to understand
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: God and law, and life, and not until then. We
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: live and move and have our being in what we
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: call an infinite mind, an infinite creative mind, also infinitely receptive, operative, omnipotent,
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: and all-knowing. And we have learned that this mind presses
- 1:49:54Speaker 1: against us on all sides, flows through us, and becomes
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: operative through our thinking. The human race, ignorant of the
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: laws of this mind, ignorant of the power of its
- 1:50:04Speaker 1: own thought, has through its ignorance misused and abused the
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: creative power of its thought, and brought upon itself the
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: thing it feared. This is true because all thought is law,
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: and all law is mind in action, and the word
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: which you speak today is the law which shall govern
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: your life tomorrow, as the word which you spoke, ignorantly
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: or innocently, consciously or unconsciously yesterday, is absolutely governing your
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: life today. As metaphysicians, then, we are not dealing with
- 1:50:32Speaker 1: a material, nor denying a manifest universe. but we are
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: claiming that the manifestation is the result of the inner
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: activity of the mind. And if we wish for a
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: definite manifestation, we must produce a definite inner activity. You
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: and I, then, are not dealing with conditions, but with
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: mental and spiritual law. We are dealing with the power
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: of thought, the power of mind, and the more spiritual
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: the thought the higher the manifestation. The more our reliance
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: upon what we call God, the greater the power. It
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: is the new education because it strips all the false
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: from the old belief and reveals the individual. It is
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: the new age because as sure as God is, it
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: will usher in and express the perfect life, the revelation
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: of this truth, and our ability to use it, and
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: it is your own fault when you know this and
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: do not prove it. If, knowing the infinite power flowing
- 1:51:25Speaker 1: through you, you still remain sick and unhappy, miserable and poor,
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: my friend, it is your own fault. Do not blame God,
- 1:51:33Speaker 1: do not blame man, and do not say it is
- 1:51:36Speaker 1: of the devil. It is your own fault. Every time
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: you say I am, you are recognizing the eternal infinite
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: presence of omnipotent power within yourself, which is God operating
- 1:51:47Speaker 1: through your thought, and that is why you bring upon
- 1:51:49Speaker 1: yourself the thing you fear, and why you bring to
- 1:51:52Speaker 1: yourself the thing you want. When 51% of your thinking
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: is health and life and power, that day the 51%
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: will swallow up, erase, kill out the rest. The day you,
- 1:52:04Speaker 1: as an individual, through 51% of your thought, pass beyond
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: the perception of limitation, you will draw out of the
- 1:52:12Speaker 1: universe everything you desire, poverty will desert you and you
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: will be emancipated forever. The day you think 51% of happiness,
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: misery shall depart and never return. Is it not then
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: worth your time and your effort, and should it not
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: be the greatest purpose in the life of any awakened
- 1:52:29Speaker 1: soul so to depict this principle as to emancipate himself?
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: The way can be shown, but each individual must himself
- 1:52:36Speaker 1: walk the way. We are so bound by suggestion and
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: hypnotized by false belief, so entangled by the chaotic thinking
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: of the world, thinking which is based upon the principle
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: of a dual mind, that we become confused and are
- 1:52:49Speaker 1: not ourselves. Wake up. Your word is all-powerful, your consciousness
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: is one with omnipotence. Your thought is infinite. Your destiny
- 1:52:59Speaker 1: is eternal and your home is everlasting heaven. Realize the truth.
- 1:53:05Speaker 1: I am living in a perfect universe, it always was
- 1:53:08Speaker 1: perfect and always will be perfect. There never was a
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: mistake made, there are no mistakes being made, and there
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: never will be. I live in the great and eternal
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: universe of perfection from cause to effect, from beginning to end, and,
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: the world's all right, and I know it. Majestic and calm,
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: waiting with eternal and divine patience, the great principle of
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: life is ready to give to us all that it has.
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: And while we listen and wait we will cast from
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: us everything that hinders its complete expression through us, we
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: will let go of all struggle and all strife and
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: be at peace with life. Perfect peace to the soul
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: as we rest in the realization of our unity with
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: all that there is, was or ever will be. One
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: with the infinite mind. All the power of the spirit
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: is working through our thought as we believe and receive.
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: Now we will ask for and take that thing which
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: we desire, it is done, it is complete, now and forever.
- 1:54:05Speaker 1: Perfect life, perfect healing, perfect harmony, divine guidance, infinite strength
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: and joy forever. Questions and Answers What is the truth?
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: The truth is that which is. It is all that is.
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: As there cannot be something and nothing, so the truth,
- 1:54:23Speaker 1: being that which is, must at the same time be
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: all that there is. Where is the truth? If the
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: truth is all, it must be everywhere. Being all, there
- 1:54:35Speaker 1: is no other substance to divide it with, being undivided,
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: it is everywhere present. All truth, which means all power,
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: must be present at all points, or at any given point,
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: at any and at all times. Has the truth changed?
- 1:54:51Speaker 1: A substance cannot change unless there is something for it
- 1:54:54Speaker 1: to change into. Since the truth is all, it cannot change,
- 1:54:58Speaker 1: for there is no other thing for it to change into,
- 1:55:01Speaker 1: whatever is the truth, then, has never changed. Is the truth,
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: or that which is, one or many? It must be one,
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: since it is all. Is the truth conscious? Yes, man
- 1:55:15Speaker 1: is conscious. He could not be so unless truth or
- 1:55:19Speaker 1: life were conscious. Man's self-consciousness proves the self-consciousness of life
- 1:55:24Speaker 1: or truth or spirit. Like produces like. What comes out
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: of life? Everything that is comes out of life. If
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: life is all then it follows that all that is
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: is some form of life. How does life make things?
- 1:55:40Speaker 1: Being all, it must make things out of itself. It
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: must operate upon itself, through itself, and out of itself
- 1:55:47Speaker 1: must make all that is made. Being conscious, it must
- 1:55:51Speaker 1: know that it is doing this. What would we call
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: this inner movement of life? The inner movement of life
- 1:55:58Speaker 1: or consciousness we would call thought or the self-knowing of
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: life or spirit. Then the universe and all that is
- 1:56:04Speaker 1: a part of it comes from thought. Yes, everything comes
- 1:56:08Speaker 1: from thought. Do we not see a visible world that
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: seems to change, and if we do, how is it
- 1:56:14Speaker 1: that it could come from something that never changes? Yes,
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: we do see a changing world, but back of it
- 1:56:20Speaker 1: is a changeless substance. The thing that changes is the
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: thought or form. the substance from which this form comes
- 1:56:27Speaker 1: never changes. It is one and undivided, and takes form
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: through thought in all things. We prove this when we
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: resolve all things into one source. All material things, so called,
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: can be reduced into formless substance, the sole activity of
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: which must be thought or the movement of intelligence upon itself.
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: What causes form to change? The intelligence behind it. Is
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: there nothing in the universe, then, but life, thought and form?
- 1:56:58Speaker 1: These are all. If this is true, what is physical law?
- 1:57:03Speaker 1: Physical law is simply the result of the inner movement
- 1:57:05Speaker 1: of life. If things and laws are the result of
- 1:57:09Speaker 1: the inner movement of life, then does it not follow
- 1:57:12Speaker 1: that thoughts are things? Yes, all things are simply thought forms.
- 1:57:17Speaker 1: How long does thought last as form? As long as
- 1:57:20Speaker 1: the thought is held in life or mind. Does the
- 1:57:24Speaker 1: thought of life, mind or good ever change? From all
- 1:57:28Speaker 1: that we can know the thought of God seems to change.
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: That is, planets change, take form and again become formless.
- 1:57:36Speaker 1: When we realize that all this can take place without
- 1:57:39Speaker 1: ever changing the substance behind it, we see no reason
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: why God's thought could not change and ever build up
- 1:57:44Speaker 1: a higher form. Indeed, this is one of the teachings
- 1:57:48Speaker 1: of ancient wisdom, that while reality never changes, the form
- 1:57:52Speaker 1: that it takes is ever-changing. What is man's place in
- 1:57:55Speaker 1: the creative order? Man is a thinking center in mind,
- 1:57:59Speaker 1: reproducing in a smaller scale all there is in the universe.
- 1:58:03Speaker 1: Does this not make man's thought creative? In a certain
- 1:58:07Speaker 1: sense it does. What we call creation is not making
- 1:58:11Speaker 1: something out of nothing, but it is thought taking form.
- 1:58:15Speaker 1: And as man thinks, and as thought must take form,
- 1:58:18Speaker 1: then it must follow that man's thought must take form
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: in mind and so become creative. What is man's thought?
- 1:58:25Speaker 1: It is the activity of that something within that can say,
- 1:58:27Speaker 1: I am. What is the difference between God and man?
- 1:58:32Speaker 1: The very fact that man can say, I am, proves
- 1:58:35Speaker 1: that he is. Since he is he must be made
- 1:58:39Speaker 1: out of life and must be some part of all
- 1:58:41Speaker 1: that there is. This being so, man must be a
- 1:58:44Speaker 1: part of God's consciousness. The difference would be in degree only.
- 1:58:49Speaker 1: He must be as much of life as he recognizes
- 1:58:52Speaker 1: himself to be. Is all of man's thought creative? Yes,
- 1:58:57Speaker 1: all or none. If one thought produces, then all must.
- 1:59:02Speaker 1: If this be true, how is it that man seems
- 1:59:04Speaker 1: to be so limited? Because he has thought limitation, and
- 1:59:08Speaker 1: thoughts are things and will always make the thing thought of.
- 1:59:12Speaker 1: In reality the very fact that man's thought can limit
- 1:59:15Speaker 1: him also proves that it could free him from all
- 1:59:17Speaker 1: limitation by simply changing his thought. But why is man
- 1:59:21Speaker 1: so made that he can think two ways? This is
- 1:59:24Speaker 1: a question that can be answered only in one way.
- 1:59:28Speaker 1: Unless a man can think as he wants to think
- 1:59:30Speaker 1: he would not be a man at all but simply
- 1:59:32Speaker 1: a piece of mechanism. Man is an individual and that
- 1:59:35Speaker 1: means self-choice, backed by a power that will produce the
- 1:59:38Speaker 1: thing chosen. In discovering himself man chooses many things, uses
- 1:59:44Speaker 1: them and passes to a higher choice, ever ascending in
- 1:59:47Speaker 1: the scale of being. As fast as he chooses, he
- 1:59:50Speaker 1: experiences that thing which he thinks about. What is evil?
- 1:59:55Speaker 1: Evil is the result of a lack of clear seeing,
- 1:59:58Speaker 1: based upon a belief in two powers, and limitation and
- 2:00:01Speaker 1: what we call sin is the result of man's struggle
- 2:00:03Speaker 1: to find himself. If this be true, why could we
- 2:00:07Speaker 1: not at once begin to change our whole life by
- 2:00:09Speaker 1: first changing our thought? We could. We would not be
- 2:00:14Speaker 1: changing real substance, but we would be changing the form
- 2:00:17Speaker 1: that it takes through our thought. All that we can
- 2:00:20Speaker 1: change is the form of thought through which experiences come
- 2:00:23Speaker 1: to us. What is the limit of man's creative use
- 2:00:26Speaker 1: of mind? Man is limited by nothing but his own thinking,
- 2:00:30Speaker 1: by his mental ability to conceive. What is meant by
- 2:00:34Speaker 1: mental conception? All things are produced by thought. The thing
- 2:00:39Speaker 1: produced from mind is first formed in thought, thought molds
- 2:00:42Speaker 1: mind into form. But do we not have to act?
- 2:00:47Speaker 1: We cannot think without acting, an inactive body is the
- 2:00:50Speaker 1: result of an inactive mind. In using our creative powers,
- 2:00:54Speaker 1: how far do we have to consider the conditions under
- 2:00:57Speaker 1: which we live? We do not have to consider them
- 2:00:59Speaker 1: at all. Conditions are the result, the effect, and not
- 2:01:03Speaker 1: the cause, we create them as fast as we think.
- 2:01:07Speaker 1: How would a person start to change conditions? By first
- 2:01:11Speaker 1: changing thought and by realizing that we are not dealing
- 2:01:14Speaker 1: with an illusion, but with the great reality. Then by
- 2:01:18Speaker 1: acting as though we already have what we think. How
- 2:01:21Speaker 1: long would it take to do this? As long as
- 2:01:24Speaker 1: it would take to let go of all negative thought
- 2:01:26Speaker 1: and embody all positive thought. This would depend entirely upon
- 2:01:30Speaker 1: the individual and his mental ability to control thought. What
- 2:01:34Speaker 1: would hinder us the most? Ourselves. No one gives to
- 2:01:39Speaker 1: us but ourselves and no one takes from us but ourselves.
- 2:01:43Speaker 1: Can no one else help us? Only to a limited degree.
- 2:01:48Speaker 1: While we may be helped by those who understand the law,
- 2:01:51Speaker 1: for a time, yet sooner or later we must ourselves
- 2:01:54Speaker 1: take the creative responsibility of our own lives. Others may
- 2:01:58Speaker 1: think for us for a few moments a day, but
- 2:02:00Speaker 1: we think for ourselves all the time. But does not
- 2:02:03Speaker 1: God help us? Yes, God helps all, but must do
- 2:02:08Speaker 1: it through law. All's love yet all's law. How should
- 2:02:12Speaker 1: we pray? By giving thanks that we already have that
- 2:02:16Speaker 1: thing that we pray for, by completely believing and by
- 2:02:19Speaker 1: never doubting. When ye pray believe that ye have received
- 2:02:22Speaker 1: and ye shall receive. We must be sure that in
- 2:02:26Speaker 1: no way shall we think, act or talk or read
- 2:02:28Speaker 1: about limitation. We must all be a law unto ourselves. Definitions. God.
- 2:02:36Speaker 1: Infinite spirit, self-knowing mind, life, truth, intelligence, love, all cause

- 2:03:00Speaker 1: All visible life is an expression of an inner concept. Law.
- 2:03:05Speaker 1: Mind in action, law is not cause, it is effect.
