  SPEAKER_02: It is happening again.
• 0:08
SPEAKER_02: Sorry, I'm I'm I'm just quoting random uh nonsense from Twin Peaks.
• 0:13
SPEAKER_02: Uh my name is Dakota.
• 0:14
SPEAKER_02: I'm one third of your hosts on Project Geekology.
• 0:17
SPEAKER_02: We're joined as always by Anthony.
• 0:20
SPEAKER_06: You know, I am recording here from a remote shack in the woods.
• 0:26
SPEAKER_06: Um I may or may not have somebody named Leo Leo Johnson in the corner with a shot collar on.
• 0:34
SPEAKER_00: You know, but you know, joining us as always is Angry Rich.
• 0:46
SPEAKER_05: That's the most that's the most playful.
• 0:48
SPEAKER_05: You're gonna hear me all night.
• 0:50
SPEAKER_05: Things are about to get if you think that what happened to Laura and Leland was bad, the assault on your ears, guys.
• 0:58
  SPEAKER_05: Um I I apologize in advance.
• 1:00
SPEAKER_05: Uh, but I am uh excited to uh to welcome this week the progenitor of my anger.
• 1:09
SPEAKER_05: Uh kick it over to uh our special guest.
• 1:13
  SPEAKER_07: Hi, I'm Jen.
• 1:15
SPEAKER_07: Uh I'm the person who had to endure Rich screaming like Laura Palmer while we were grading Regent's exams with our full English department at our school.
• 1:27
SPEAKER_07: He just did like a Laura Palmer scream, and everybody kind of looked over and he was like, Why did you do this to me?
• 1:33
SPEAKER_07: And other teachers were like, What's Twin Peaks?
• 1:36
SPEAKER_07: I was like, We're not talking about this.
• 1:39
SPEAKER_07: So that was a good time.
• 1:41
  SPEAKER_02: She cultured you.
• 1:43
  SPEAKER_02: That's what happened.
• 1:45
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 1:46
SPEAKER_02: People love people love David Lynch.
• 1:48
SPEAKER_02: Like, genuinely, people love that.
• 1:50
  SPEAKER_02: People love David Lynch.
• 1:52
SPEAKER_02: Um, I was telling these guys in a group, uh our group chat that we have about um how you know certain directors just like absolutely adore him.
• 2:03
SPEAKER_02: Like uh Stanley Kubrick, uh massive director, developed some of the best films of all time.
• 2:09
SPEAKER_02: He his favorite movie is Eraserhead, which is an early Lynch film.
• 2:13
SPEAKER_07: That was Lynch's first film.
• 2:14
  SPEAKER_02: Lynch's first film.
• 2:15
SPEAKER_02: Imagine your first film is is Stanley Kubrick's uh favorite film.
• 2:20
SPEAKER_02: And if you think Twin Peaks is crazy, that's a that's another level of absurdism.
• 2:27
SPEAKER_02: But uh yeah, other other directors that notably really wanted to work with Lynch.
• 2:34
SPEAKER_02: Um George Lucas uh was pretty adamant that he wanted David Lynch to uh direct Return of the King.
• 2:42
  SPEAKER_02: Return of the King.
• 2:43
  SPEAKER_02: Return of the Jedi.
• 2:44
SPEAKER_07: Yeah, George Lucas asked David Lynch.
• 2:47
SPEAKER_02: At that point, it was uh revenge of the Jedi.
• 2:50
SPEAKER_07: Um yeah, you can you can look this up.
• 2:54
SPEAKER_02: You can look this up.
• 2:56
SPEAKER_02: George Lucas flew him in, talked his ear off about this entire world that he created, and David Lynch was just like, Are you sure you got the right guy?
• 3:05
SPEAKER_02: And he basically just apparently he basically said that like George Lucas gave him too much of a headache and said, You should just do it yourself.
• 3:16
SPEAKER_07: Um that inter like that interview where he tells that story is really funny.
• 3:19
SPEAKER_07: I'll say that to you guys.
• 3:21
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 3:22
  SPEAKER_02: Uh he's just he's a character.
• 3:24
SPEAKER_02: Uh apparently he immediately called his agent and said, Hey, I'm gonna not do the Star Wars movie.
• 3:29
SPEAKER_02: And the agent's like, You just lost out millions of dollars.
• 3:32
SPEAKER_02: And he's just like, Yeah, well, it's not my movie.
• 3:36
  SPEAKER_02: So he's he's that's that's the kind of guy he is.
• 3:38
SPEAKER_02: I do think he was right, like you know, oh it was a good call.
• 3:42
SPEAKER_02: It was the wrong, it was the wrong call.
• 3:43
SPEAKER_02: Like he was not the person to direct that.
• 3:45
SPEAKER_06: But yeah, yeah, I was gonna say to be fair, at least he recognized that, you know.
• 3:50
SPEAKER_06: At least he recognized because because Darth Vader would have probably shot the papa teen into a wormhole at if it and then it would have ended in in a a black and white movie with Frankenstein all of a sudden.
• 4:05
SPEAKER_05: But wait, you're telling me you're telling me that you don't think I don't think David Lynch inspired the cave scene.
• 4:12
SPEAKER_05: So he cuts his head off, and the mask reveals it's him.
• 4:16
  SPEAKER_05: Actually.
• 4:16
SPEAKER_02: Well, no, uh Return of the Jedi was before Twin Peaks.
• 4:21
  SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's right.
• 4:22
SPEAKER_07: So that I don't think the but um Yeah, it was 83.
• 4:30
SPEAKER_02: We were we were talking before the the show uh about how the the cave scene in Twin Peaks is very similar thematically and functionally to the cave the Kawachi caves in Smallville.
• 4:47
SPEAKER_02: Um and how they they kind of you know what we're getting way ahead of ourselves here.
• 4:52
SPEAKER_06: Uh yeah, I was literally thinking the same thing.
• 4:54
SPEAKER_06: I was like, yeah, we just started the episode.
• 4:56
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm just I'm just blabbering about this guy.
• 4:59
SPEAKER_02: Um let's throw it over to Rich, happy Rich, uh, who's not talking about Twin Peaks in this segment of the show.
• 5:09
SPEAKER_05: Oh, I'm actually very happy.
• 5:11
SPEAKER_05: Uh, you would say that uh maybe this week I feel more than ever you gotta Bo Lee.
• 5:19
SPEAKER_05: Because the Mets signed third basem free agent, Bo Bichette, son of uh MLB great Dante Bichette.
• 5:28
SPEAKER_05: Uh I see lots of great slogans coming, guys.
• 5:30
SPEAKER_05: Lots of great slogans, okay?
• 5:32
SPEAKER_05: Bichette happens, Bichette happens, all right.
• 5:35
  SPEAKER_05: That's that's a whole fun one.
• 5:36
SPEAKER_07: Yeah, that was done for his father.
• 5:38
  SPEAKER_05: Okay.
• 5:38
SPEAKER_05: Yes, it was done for his father, and I think that we can just recycle it back.
• 5:42
SPEAKER_05: And then uh just Bo.
• 5:45
SPEAKER_05: I mean, Bo uh there was a wrestler named Bo Dallas, and he he had this whole thing where he was like, you just have to Bo Leave.
• 5:53
SPEAKER_05: So uh I'm very excited that this is like a wrestling kind of mixture here.
• 5:58
SPEAKER_05: So you get the Bo Leave and the fact that the Mets have You Gotta Believe, famously Tug McGraw in 1973, uh it's right there.
• 6:07
  SPEAKER_05: You gotta be.
• 6:08
  SPEAKER_05: I can't wait for the merch.
• 6:12
  SPEAKER_02: You chat both.
• 6:14
SPEAKER_02: So let's let's continue and move past it.
• 6:18
SPEAKER_02: What else have you been up to?
• 6:19
SPEAKER_07: Wait, but why didn't he do like Boba Fett?
• 6:22
SPEAKER_07: Why hasn't he come up with Boba Fett?
• 6:24
  SPEAKER_05: It's I haven't even gotten there yet.
• 6:27
SPEAKER_07: So he used to play the inkies every time he was at bat.
• 6:30
SPEAKER_07: I would say, oh, but it's boba fett.
• 6:32
SPEAKER_07: Oh, I don't uh that's the only reason why I knew this guy was because his name sounded like Boba Fett.
• 6:39
  SPEAKER_05: I'm I'm very excited about this.
• 6:41
SPEAKER_05: Is it gonna be great?
• 6:42
SPEAKER_05: Alright, we got we got a trade, we got Luis Robert Jr., uh Cuban compatriot.
• 6:48
SPEAKER_05: Uh welcome guy to you and why you are?
• 6:51
SPEAKER_05: Uh so I'm uh honestly, I was very upset about Pete, and I'm still it's like I found it like it's like okay, it's like I got dumped and it was tough.
• 7:01
SPEAKER_05: It was it was real bad.
• 7:03
  SPEAKER_07: Actually, extremely bad.
• 7:04
SPEAKER_07: Like, can I say I like walked into a classroom with Rich by himself crying, and I could tell that it was about Pete Alonzo, and so I just turned around, walked out of the room, went to a hot dog stand, and came back with two hot dogs for him because he was just weeping by it wasn't even like it wasn't like a casual, it was like an ugly cry like as if his grandma died.
• 7:27
SPEAKER_07: Like, and I knew because he had been dreading this.
• 7:31
SPEAKER_05: Here's the best part is my grandfather died about a year ago, and I was at I'm telling you this.
• 7:39
SPEAKER_05: I did not ugly cry at work because of my grandfather.
• 7:42
SPEAKER_05: I you know, I cried at home in my in the privacy of my home.
• 7:45
SPEAKER_05: I ugly cried in public in a way that you should not because of Peter, Morgan, Alonzo leaving the Mets.
• 7:54
SPEAKER_07: So it was a lot of change but I went to the Early Friends Group Chat had like a contingency plan ready because we had a feeling Pete was going and we were like, we need to do something to cure this guy up because like we don't know what's gonna happen.
• 8:05
SPEAKER_07: And so like I walked out of the room, texted the group chat, Pete's gone, and then literally just went to get the hot dogs because that was part of the plan.
• 8:13
SPEAKER_07: Our other friend, who is Rich's moral support, stopped what he was doing and immediately went to Rich's side.
• 8:19
SPEAKER_07: It was it was chaotic.
• 8:22
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, you had that uh uh uh you had a a glizzy plan in place.
• 8:27
  SPEAKER_05: Yes, the glizzy plan.
• 8:29
SPEAKER_05: It was the only thing, it was the only thing.
• 8:30
  SPEAKER_05: But you know what?
• 8:31
SPEAKER_05: I will say, after all of that, uh I'm I'm excited once again to see.
• 8:36
SPEAKER_05: I think we have a good squad.
• 8:37
SPEAKER_05: We made a lot of good signings, uh and uh I'll leave it at that because I know you know it's the offseason.
• 8:42
SPEAKER_05: Anthony's probably thinking, like, bro, this is the time that you're not supposed to talk about baseball.
• 8:46
SPEAKER_05: But uh oh, and uh on a on a more of a align with the podcast kind of stuff, I just beat uh with uh Echoes of Wisdom, uh the Legend of the Zelda game.
• 8:56
SPEAKER_05: Really, really enjoyed it, really fun.
• 8:58
SPEAKER_05: Uh they can do a really cool, they don't let you like as most Zelda games do, they don't let you like play oh after the end because you've defeated the bad guy, so there's no point for fighting.
• 9:10
  SPEAKER_05: There's peace.
• 9:11
SPEAKER_05: Uh now there now there will be peace uh in our new empire.
• 9:16
SPEAKER_05: But uh they let you like start from like the point right before the final battle, and it kind of gives you like an acknowledgement that you've can you finished the game and you can pick up the rest of it.
• 9:26
  SPEAKER_05: But it's really I think it's really fun.
• 9:28
SPEAKER_05: I mean, if if you're somebody who played I I forget the order of them.
• 9:32
SPEAKER_05: There's Breath of the Wild, and then there's the uh shoot.
• 9:36
  SPEAKER_05: It's the newer one.
• 9:37
  SPEAKER_05: Tears of the Kingdom.
• 9:37
SPEAKER_05: So I played Tears of the Kingdom.
• 9:39
SPEAKER_05: I played Breath of the Wild, and I thought it was very large and expansive and and more complicated than I was kind of used to for Zelda Games in a way that like I I I didn't like the fact that the weapons degraded.
• 9:50
SPEAKER_05: That's really kind of frustrating for me.
• 9:53
SPEAKER_05: But I I got over it and I and I liked it, and then my son was playing uh Tears of the Kingdom, and I it just it's so much.
• 10:01
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it's a lot like there's a whole sky area, there's the like middle, like the main area, which is like the you know, the overland, and then there's an underground area.
• 10:12
  SPEAKER_06: It's a lot, yeah.
• 10:13
SPEAKER_06: I I I'm also with you on I'm not the biggest fan of degrading weapons myself.
• 10:20
  SPEAKER_02: Same.
• 10:20
  SPEAKER_02: I hate that.
• 10:21
SPEAKER_06: Certain games do it okay.
• 10:24
SPEAKER_06: Like World of Warcraft has degrading gear, but in these games, it's so fast.
• 10:31
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 10:32
SPEAKER_06: Like like you you get like maybe what, like three fights in, and then your sword explodes.
• 10:37
  SPEAKER_06: I don't like that.
• 10:38
SPEAKER_05: So Echoes Echoes of the C of Wisdom, I think, is like weird because you know you're not Zelda.
• 10:43
SPEAKER_05: I mean you're not you're not Link, you're Zelda, but it it becomes I I think it becomes a really fun game once you start getting it.
• 10:51
SPEAKER_05: And what's really cool about it is I think it has elements of Tears of the Kingdom that like everybody can solve puzzles in creative ways with different echoes, so you don't have to f follow a cookie cutter approach to most of the stuff.
• 11:07
SPEAKER_05: However, like you know, there there still is like some obviously shared community stuff and some stuff that you have to do similar.
• 11:15
SPEAKER_05: So I I enjoyed the aspect that there was a creative way for me to do things, but not so creative that I was like frozen with options.
• 11:27
  SPEAKER_05: So highly recommended.
• 11:28
SPEAKER_05: I would uh I hope I would I would pick it up if I were you guys.
• 11:32
SPEAKER_05: I'll kick this over to Antoni.
• 11:37
  SPEAKER_05: Antonius.
• 11:38
SPEAKER_05: What do you go up to this week?
• 11:39
SPEAKER_06: Double finger gun to you.
• 11:41
  SPEAKER_05: Oh dangerous.
• 11:45
  SPEAKER_05: Those concealed weapons.
• 11:47
  SPEAKER_05: We don't we don't Amen.
• 11:48
SPEAKER_05: We don't have that up here.
• 11:49
  SPEAKER_06: My bad.
• 11:50
  SPEAKER_06: Well, you know, we're we're we're in Florida.
• 11:51
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah, he's a constitutional carry.
• 11:54
SPEAKER_06: But uh so so for me, I've been I've been continuing like playing World of Warcraft, but now I'm kind of going into a rabbit hole where now I'm starting to dive into the lore of World of Warcraft.
• 12:10
SPEAKER_06: Um you know, it had I'd kind of played some of the older games back in the day, but I mean it's been so long.
• 12:17
SPEAKER_06: So I started reading this book called uh World of Warcraft Chronicle One of or Volume One, and it kind of reads as like a historical like a historical account of World of Warcraft from like one period to it's like like kind of the beginning towards like a certain point, huh?
• 12:40
SPEAKER_02: Like an in-universe chronology or like a right.
• 12:43
SPEAKER_06: Okay and then and and so like it's not like it doesn't read as like a story, it reads like you know, like you're reading the history of it.
• 12:52
SPEAKER_06: And so there's four chronicles.
• 12:57
SPEAKER_06: So the next one I believe kind of covers like the Burning Crusade era.
• 13:02
SPEAKER_06: Um after that's like Wrath of the Lich King.
• 13:05
SPEAKER_06: After that, I think it is like from Cataclysm up to Dragonflight, maybe like the one of the m more recent ones.
• 13:16
  SPEAKER_06: Um so I I've I don't know, man.
• 13:18
SPEAKER_06: Like I I've always spent so much time in the the Warcraft universe that I never sp I spent a little time in the story, but not too much time.
• 13:28
SPEAKER_06: So I'm like, you know what?
• 13:29
SPEAKER_06: I want to learn a little bit more.
• 13:31
SPEAKER_06: So I've been reading that.
• 13:33
SPEAKER_06: And then there's some like books outside of that that I want to read.
• 13:36
SPEAKER_06: And some of the, you know, there's like the graphic novels and and some of the I think there's some manga out there too.
• 13:43
SPEAKER_06: So I've been I've been reading that.
• 13:45
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, man, I've just been Warcraft out, bro.
• 13:49
  SPEAKER_02: That's crazy.
• 13:50
  SPEAKER_02: Solid.
• 13:52
SPEAKER_06: Well, you you know, you know how it gets Dakota.
• 13:54
SPEAKER_06: You do the same thing.
• 13:56
  SPEAKER_02: I definitely do.
• 13:57
SPEAKER_02: I uh I find a universe that I get like really into and then I get all into it.
• 14:02
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 14:03
SPEAKER_06: We need we need to bring you back to Warcraft, you know?
• 14:06
  SPEAKER_02: Don't you dare.
• 14:07
SPEAKER_07: Wasn't your mom like addicted to Warcraft to go?
• 14:09
SPEAKER_02: I mean she wasn't like addicted, but she she my mom played um like Base Wow for a couple months, maybe.
• 14:17
SPEAKER_02: I think she got she got a character to like level 50, which you know is surprising for you know a level three.
• 14:24
SPEAKER_06: Well, actually back then, that's surprising because it took it a lot of time to even because it it went up to level 60, but it took a very long time to even even leveling up to 10 took a lot.
• 14:37
  SPEAKER_06: So yeah, that that's that's a lot.
• 14:40
SPEAKER_06: But yeah, uh we we've told uh the story.
• 14:44
SPEAKER_06: Uh Dakota do Dakota and I were like really into it.
• 14:47
SPEAKER_06: Like we would wake up super early just to play it.
• 14:50
SPEAKER_07: So I remember Dakota saying like it was basically like he needed to play at times when his mom wasn't, and so that was like right, because we had a family account.
• 14:59
SPEAKER_02: It wasn't like so like but the issue with the family account is both my brothers also played, my dad played, and my mom played, but there was no like multi-person thing at the that time.
• 15:12
SPEAKER_02: So like we only had one computer, so we all had to play one after the other, or you know, like whenever we had time for that.
• 15:19
SPEAKER_02: But which is like extremely cute.
• 15:21
SPEAKER_06: Which is really cute family bonding.
• 15:24
SPEAKER_06: Which is pretty much the s it's the same now.
• 15:26
SPEAKER_06: Like you you can only you you can you can share an account, but like you can only play only that that account can only play one game at a time, you know.
• 15:37
SPEAKER_06: So but yeah, no, we yeah, we used to was it the the Wii hours of five o'clock in the morning, I think we would wake up to play.
• 15:46
  SPEAKER_06: That's crazy.
• 15:46
SPEAKER_06: Like we woke up at five o'clock in the morning to play World of Warcraft like like it was our job, you know?
• 15:53
SPEAKER_06: Now, like five o'clock in the morning, I look at the time, I'm like, no, thank you.
• 15:57
SPEAKER_06: I'm not thinking about playing video games at that time.
• 16:01
SPEAKER_07: I wake up at five in the morning to watch Disney vlogs.
• 16:04
SPEAKER_06: Oh well, I mean, are you do you does is that your start to like get ready for work?
• 16:09
SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I like get up, I make coffee, and then I like go downstairs.
• 16:13
  SPEAKER_07: Today I actually didn't watch a Disney vlog.
• 16:15
SPEAKER_07: Today I watched like the 17-minute behind the scenes uh HBO thing for a Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
• 16:24
SPEAKER_07: So I watched a little different thing today, but usually it's like a short little video that just just like kind of happy and cheerful, and then I just like go on with my day.
• 16:32
SPEAKER_07: Okay, yeah, you laughing Rich.
• 16:34
  SPEAKER_07: What's so funny?
• 16:35
  SPEAKER_07: That's so amusing.
• 16:37
SPEAKER_05: Uh because you said you you made coffee, and I was just very Oh well, so Dakota's been getting up like earlier than me.
• 16:42
SPEAKER_07: He's been leaving now before I get up.
• 16:44
SPEAKER_07: Because he has to be at work and so in the past, Dakota always made me my coffee every single morning, so I never had to make coffee.
• 16:50
SPEAKER_07: So this is like a new new routine.
• 16:53
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so I I commute an hour both ways.
• 16:57
SPEAKER_02: So if I if I start my day, like if my job starts at six in the morning, I have to basically wake up and leave between four thirty and like four fifty.
• 17:09
SPEAKER_02: So yeah, I'm out of the house before you even wake up usually.
• 17:12
SPEAKER_07: Yeah, so I've been getting up around like 5 15-ish.
• 17:16
SPEAKER_07: Like I hear him leave, like I vaguely hear him disperse, but then I don't get up for a while.
• 17:21
SPEAKER_05: So he just like leaves and he's just like, see you in 25 years.
• 17:28
SPEAKER_02: I think Rich secretly really liked it.
• 17:31
SPEAKER_02: It's just it's so maddening that it's impossible for him to admit it.
• 17:37
SPEAKER_02: So we'll we'll we'll have to like eek that conversation out of him a little bit as we go.
• 17:43
SPEAKER_06: We we we will, we will.
• 17:44
SPEAKER_06: But yeah, that that's pretty much like what what I've been up to, just spending time in the the Warcraft universe and oh, and then also listening to an audiobook on the rise and I mean they they say the fall, but I mean they're still kind of up there of uh Blizzard Entertainment.
• 18:01
SPEAKER_07: Oh so I thought you were gonna say the Roman Empire.
• 18:04
SPEAKER_07: I was like, whoa, look at this guy big moves.
• 18:08
SPEAKER_06: Well, I guess like you know, the fall of like you know, its beloved status, I guess, but right it's still pretty big.
• 18:16
SPEAKER_06: But yeah, so what I'll throw the conversation over to you you both.
• 18:21
SPEAKER_05: And or either or the same stuff pretty much.
• 18:24
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, to Jota?
• 18:26
  SPEAKER_05: Jakota?
• 18:26
  SPEAKER_05: Dakota?
• 18:27
  SPEAKER_05: Jakota.
• 18:28
SPEAKER_07: Well, we watched a Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
• 18:30
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's the new Game of Thrones spinoff.
• 18:33
SPEAKER_07: I really, really liked, I really liked it.
• 18:36
SPEAKER_02: Why are you laughing about this?
• 18:38
SPEAKER_05: Because the beginning of that, like uh like the the opening sequence, and then it hits the Game of Thrones easily.
• 18:44
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, alright.
• 18:47
SPEAKER_05: Like, I mean we're allowed to say this part, right?
• 18:49
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so in the first five minutes, um you know, you you get like this like guy who has literally nothing to his name except like a couple horses and a sword, and he's he's like starting to go on his journey.
• 19:04
SPEAKER_02: He as a knight, he's trying to like make it as a knight.
• 19:07
SPEAKER_02: Um and it starts playing the Game of Thrones music as like he's like setting off for his adventure, and then he he he like makes a face and then the music stops, and it's just like a a clip of him taking uh like a projectile poop, like a liquidy poop from behind a tree.
• 19:25
SPEAKER_02: It was it's the most disgusting thing ever.
• 19:28
  SPEAKER_07: I like gagged up.
• 19:30
SPEAKER_05: It was tasteful, it was far enough away, you know.
• 19:33
  SPEAKER_05: It's not tasteful.
• 19:35
  SPEAKER_07: You can't make that.
• 19:36
  SPEAKER_02: Even George R.
• 19:37
  SPEAKER_02: R.
• 19:37
SPEAKER_02: Martin was just like, maybe that wasn't necessary.
• 19:40
SPEAKER_02: Um I uh please don't use that.
• 19:43
SPEAKER_06: Please don't use that word in the same sentence as projectile poop.
• 19:47
  SPEAKER_06: Tasteful.
• 19:48
  SPEAKER_05: I'm just I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna say this.
• 19:52
SPEAKER_05: Honestly, when that scene hit, I went, my kind of show, baby.
• 19:57
SPEAKER_05: This is my kind of show.
• 20:00
SPEAKER_02: It was yeah, it showed it showed irreverence for everything that came before, but it still very much feels like uh you're you're in the Game of Thrones world, which I appreciate.
• 20:10
SPEAKER_02: Um and there's some some ties to the original show as well.
• 20:15
SPEAKER_02: Um in terms of like characters that uh show up and their family lineages and all that.
• 20:21
SPEAKER_07: And I I liked it reminded like some parts of it reminded me a bit of Lord of the Rings for some reason.
• 20:26
SPEAKER_07: And I like Dakota's dad was saying he thinks it's the color grading, like it's like that very vibrant green, and it's filmed in Ireland, obviously not New Zealand, but um like the like yeah, it was like the colors, but also like the falky music.
• 20:39
SPEAKER_07: It made me miss the Renaissance fair.
• 20:41
SPEAKER_07: Like I went to the Renaissance fair this summer, and it does have serious Renaissance fair.
• 20:45
SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I really wanted to go back to the Renaissance fair.
• 20:48
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 20:49
SPEAKER_02: Uh other than that, I don't think we've been doing all the Sopranos.
• 20:54
  SPEAKER_07: Oh yeah, we're doing a Sopranos.
• 20:58
  SPEAKER_05: Oh boy.
• 20:59
  SPEAKER_05: I I love it.
• 21:00
SPEAKER_05: I just love it so much.
• 21:02
SPEAKER_05: I might have to just I might have to join you guys just for no reason.
• 21:04
SPEAKER_02: Like I'm gonna soft launch a concept here on the podcast that I haven't spoken about anywhere else, but I've been kind of teasing it for the past couple weeks.
• 21:18
  SPEAKER_02: I'm working on a new project.
• 21:19
SPEAKER_02: It's not necessarily Geek Critique, but it's in my area, my wheelhouse.
• 21:26
SPEAKER_02: Um it's a project called Long Live the Timeline.
• 21:30
SPEAKER_02: And I've been amassing data from a bunch of different series.
• 21:36
SPEAKER_02: Uh Twin Peaks among them.
• 21:38
SPEAKER_02: I was able to map the entirety of Twin Peaks day to day to day to day to day.
• 21:43
SPEAKER_02: Um and it's actually pretty pretty strong.
• 21:45
SPEAKER_02: Uh they they they kept up with their timeline really well.
• 21:48
SPEAKER_02: Um but I'm basically creating a calendar of events from all media books, films, shows.
• 21:57
SPEAKER_02: The purpose of which I'm not entirely sure how it's going to end up, um, but it might be a like if I if I can get it big enough, it might be something that can generate content every day, basically.
• 22:15
SPEAKER_02: In terms of like this these events happened in fiction today, you know?
• 22:20
SPEAKER_06: So so so you I you said that it's not necessarily gonna be uh geek critique.
• 22:27
SPEAKER_02: I might not I might not use it on geek critique, I might use it on like like shorts.
• 22:32
SPEAKER_02: Like I could put shorts on geek critique, but it's not like long form video essays.
• 22:37
SPEAKER_02: Um like I've been doing for the past couple years.
• 22:40
SPEAKER_02: So I could do TikTok, I could do Instagram, I could do YouTube shorts, you know.
• 22:43
  SPEAKER_06: The Oh, okay.
• 22:45
SPEAKER_06: I mean you can I mean you could use the branding and do like Geek Critique Presents and then like that tagline.
• 22:52
  SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
• 22:52
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think I can do that.
• 22:54
  SPEAKER_06: So yeah, we'll see.
• 22:56
  SPEAKER_06: That sounds interesting.
• 22:57
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, and it that is in your wheelhouse.
• 22:59
SPEAKER_06: You are very much so a timeline guy.
• 23:02
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so I've been pretty much mapping everything that I have been watching that has like, you know, dates that are attributable to our calendar, our 12-month calendar.
• 23:14
SPEAKER_04: How uh how far along, or like do you have it all over the place right now, or have you started like trying to meticulously start from January?
• 23:23
SPEAKER_02: Well the the issue that I found is most media occurs around the holidays.
• 23:31
SPEAKER_02: Um so they they just tend to either like land in fall or the beginning of summer or Christmas time.
• 23:39
SPEAKER_02: So very few stuff like meaningfully takes place in uh January, February, March.
• 23:48
SPEAKER_02: But there there are certain franchises that you can map out many days in like Twin Peaks takes place uh late February through like most of March, you know.
• 23:59
SPEAKER_02: So I can have an event uh posted for every day basically because of Twin Peaks.
• 24:06
SPEAKER_02: But I would also talk about the other shows and movies that have events or you know, character births or character deaths that occur on that event, and we can talk about it like chronologically, like this happened in this year, this happened in this year, this happened in this year.
• 24:20
SPEAKER_02: And it's cool that some like I have some dates from certain things, like different franchises entirely that land on the exact date on that exact year, and so it's like two events from entirely disparate, you know, uh timelines happened on the same day in like ever.
• 24:38
  SPEAKER_02: So I think that that's it's it's cool and it's it's fun.
• 24:41
SPEAKER_02: I don't have um entries for every day of the year.
• 24:45
SPEAKER_02: I've probably probably about half of the year is is uh mapped with at least one entry from different franchises so far.
• 24:54
SPEAKER_02: But uh I'm I'm definitely working on it.
• 24:56
SPEAKER_02: Like I'm I'm work I I think I have probably close to 300 entries from different franchises.
• 25:03
SPEAKER_02: I've mapped the first three Harry Potter books.
• 25:05
SPEAKER_02: Um, and those those are kind of nice because they they're they're a little bit front-loaded and backloaded, but sometimes there's like random dates in the middle of the year, like this event happened there around the Easter holidays, you know?
• 25:18
SPEAKER_02: And so I'm I'm able to like kind of okay, the Saturday after Easter, got it.
• 25:22
SPEAKER_02: I can figure that out, you know?
• 25:24
  SPEAKER_02: So yeah.
• 25:26
  SPEAKER_05: Can I can I suggest a cheat?
• 25:28
SPEAKER_02: You can A possible cheat, you can absolutely suggest a cheat.
• 25:32
SPEAKER_02: I do my my my personal choice is that I want to have the the notes to back it up, so I will have to you know vet every entry.
• 25:45
SPEAKER_05: Oh oh you'll vet it.
• 25:47
SPEAKER_05: Okay uh so I think that there is an untapped resource for you in the event that you're struggling for a date.
• 25:55
SPEAKER_05: Professional wrestling happens to be the longest running weekly episodic television show in like the history of television, right?
• 26:04
SPEAKER_05: And it has tons of characters and things happen uh like twice a week for a very long time.
• 26:12
SPEAKER_05: So I think you would be hard-pressed to find one calendar date that a significant wrestling occurrence or a significant wrestling event has not occurred.
• 26:23
  SPEAKER_02: Okay, that's fair.
• 26:24
SPEAKER_05: Uh, and I would say uh dig it.
• 26:27
  SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah.
• 26:29
  SPEAKER_05: Unbelievable.
• 26:30
SPEAKER_05: A lot of content, huh?
• 26:32
  SPEAKER_05: All right.
• 26:32
SPEAKER_06: So yeah, Dakota came up with this idea by laying out uh 30 flashcards and he had uh a top recorder in hand.
• 26:42
  SPEAKER_05: Would not be surprised.
• 26:45
SPEAKER_05: Um Jen had a dream, she put her hand in water overnight, and then something wrote up.
• 26:52
SPEAKER_05: There was like a slept on a P, took a note, and there then Dakota just made me the timeline.
• 26:58
SPEAKER_02: Alright, let's let's jump into um uh anyway.
• 27:01
  SPEAKER_02: I I don't I don't know exactly the form that it's going to take yet.
• 27:04
SPEAKER_02: I I want to populate my project a little bit more before I start making because I I would like to batch entries.
• 27:14
SPEAKER_02: Like if I do like a daily project, I would record like a month at a time, you know, like so at the beginning of the month I would have everything uh ready to go and then release it daily like that.
• 27:25
SPEAKER_02: But anyway, um that's that's my plan.
• 27:28
SPEAKER_02: Not really sure how it's gonna work yet, but um I'm excited because I like that stuff.
• 27:35
SPEAKER_02: But anyway, let's jump into Twin Peaks.
• 27:38
  SPEAKER_02: Diane.
• 27:40
  SPEAKER_02: Who is Diane?
• 27:43
SPEAKER_02: I'm just gonna say something like that.
• 27:44
SPEAKER_02: That's a rage bait right there, Dakota.
• 27:46
SPEAKER_02: I'm just saying things too.
• 27:48
SPEAKER_02: I actually am saying things to rage bait.
• 27:50
SPEAKER_05: Okay, so I won't lie to you.
• 27:52
SPEAKER_05: So, okay, so this Windham Earl, which by the way, like I'm sorry, uh, and it's not anything to do with the just Wyndham Resorts Hotels, like just comes to mind whenever.
• 28:02
SPEAKER_05: Also, like I don't know why it bothers me, and I'm not sure if this is just my subtitles.
• 28:07
  SPEAKER_05: Uh it's written W-I-N-D-O-M.
• 28:11
SPEAKER_02: That is how it's spelled, and it's uh it's I don't like that in like spelling because it's it should be W-H-Y.
• 28:17
  SPEAKER_02: Yes.
• 28:18
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
• 28:19
SPEAKER_05: Okay, so uh that bothers me.
• 28:21
SPEAKER_05: There's like a Rust Barry Wyndham, like uh sorry.
• 28:24
SPEAKER_05: So like I I've heard the name before and that was not the spelling, but I I'm not I'm just being crazy there.
• 28:30
  SPEAKER_02: Uh all right.
• 28:34
SPEAKER_02: I have to I have to ask both of you really quick.
• 28:37
SPEAKER_02: So uh just just so that everyone uh following understands what we covered this week.
• 28:42
SPEAKER_02: Um the the first the first week we just covered the first season of Twin Peaks, the first eight episodes.
• 28:49
SPEAKER_02: The second week that we covered Twin Peaks, we covered the first nine episodes of season two that covered the entirety of the Laura Palmer arc.
• 28:58
SPEAKER_02: Uh unless we decide later to go into Firewalk with me.
• 29:02
SPEAKER_02: What we covered this week is the remainder of season two, so eleven through twenty two.
• 29:10
SPEAKER_02: I I'm curious if you guys liked this more or less than the Laura Palmer, Laura Palmer arc.
• 29:19
SPEAKER_02: Uh I'll send it over to Anthony.
• 29:22
SPEAKER_06: You can be honest, like if you didn't like it as much.
• 29:29
  SPEAKER_06: It was interesting.
• 29:30
SPEAKER_06: Like I I did like this one a lot.
• 29:32
  SPEAKER_06: It felt like a pseudo-third season.
• 29:35
SPEAKER_06: Like it could have easily been like another season, right?
• 29:38
  SPEAKER_06: I liked it.
• 29:39
SPEAKER_06: We, you know, we got some interesting characters.
• 29:42
SPEAKER_06: We finally got to meet uh Wyndham Earl, who is an is an absolute maniac, but it he's like like him and Cooper are like, you know, like two sides of the same coin, you know?
• 29:59
SPEAKER_06: One, you know, one has kind of used, you know, uh one has used his knowledge for good, and the other has used his knowledge for bad.
• 30:09
SPEAKER_06: And yeah, Wyndham Earl, yeah.
• 30:14
  SPEAKER_06: I I I I I did like it a lot.
• 30:17
SPEAKER_06: Um, you know, I did laugh a lot on the last episode because I'm pretty sure that Mark Mark Frost said, David Lynch, just have at it.
• 30:28
SPEAKER_06: It's the it's the finale, just go full send.
• 30:31
  SPEAKER_06: And that's what happened.
• 30:33
SPEAKER_06: It was a full episode of like the end of season one, episode three.
• 30:38
SPEAKER_06: It was the whole thing.
• 30:39
  SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
• 30:39
  SPEAKER_07: You're not wrong.
• 30:40
  SPEAKER_02: You're not wrong.
• 30:41
SPEAKER_02: And there's actually like reason uh behind that like tonal shift.
• 30:48
SPEAKER_02: Um, Rich, did you did you overall this this half of the season did you find more appealing or less appealing than you know what's known as like the classic Twin Peaks era, which is the Laura Palmer arc.
• 31:04
SPEAKER_04: How do I say this?
• 31:07
SPEAKER_05: So when I approached the first season, I um I thought I was engaging in logic and reason uh storytelling.
• 31:20
SPEAKER_05: Um I th I approached it in a terrible way, right?
• 31:25
  SPEAKER_05: Like I I don't know what I what standards I had.
• 31:29
SPEAKER_05: I got into this like Bob was in me.
• 31:32
  SPEAKER_05: It's over.
• 31:32
SPEAKER_05: Like I just I succumbed to Bob.
• 31:36
  SPEAKER_05: I j I just was like, it doesn't matter anymore.
• 31:39
  SPEAKER_05: Uh just watch it.
• 31:41
SPEAKER_05: Don't even Nadine, uh the divorce.
• 31:46
SPEAKER_05: Like, so she if you think she's a 16-year-old, like you think she should be making legal decisions for herself?
• 31:55
SPEAKER_05: Uh there's just so many questions.
• 31:58
SPEAKER_05: The stupidity of most of the town people, like Donna, like some dudes just in your house, and you're like, I'm just gonna die.
• 32:08
SPEAKER_05: But her the whole season, the whole season, she's just like, hi, I'm so salty.
• 32:15
  SPEAKER_03: How are you guys?
• 32:16
  SPEAKER_03: It's cold outside.
• 32:18
  SPEAKER_05: All season, all season.
• 32:20
  SPEAKER_05: Um, James, what?
• 32:22
  SPEAKER_05: What?
• 32:23
  SPEAKER_05: What?
• 32:23
  SPEAKER_05: What Evelyn?
• 32:25
  SPEAKER_05: What?
• 32:26
  SPEAKER_05: I don't understand.
• 32:27
  SPEAKER_05: He's like 16?
• 32:28
  SPEAKER_05: I don't understand.
• 32:30
  SPEAKER_05: Like what?
• 32:30
SPEAKER_05: And like he's a mechanic, so he's like, oh look, I'm a mechanic, I have grease on my face.
• 32:36
SPEAKER_05: He literally is blue velvet, like whatever no blue steel, whatever from uh Zoolander.
• 32:42
SPEAKER_05: Like that's like his look, like that's a stupid pose.
• 32:45
SPEAKER_05: I want to punch him in the face.
• 32:48
SPEAKER_05: Um, my favorite moment of the entire season.
• 32:52
  SPEAKER_05: Oh, hold on.
• 32:53
SPEAKER_05: Doesn't Windham Earl dressed up as like a pirate or something ridiculous?
• 32:58
SPEAKER_05: He had a bunch of dresses up as Log Lady.
• 33:02
SPEAKER_05: Like he's worse than yeah, oh, that's the best.
• 33:06
SPEAKER_05: If if you watch the A-Team, like the early seasons, all right, Hannibal like dresses up as characters to like disguise himself so that uh he can like vet clients before you know they engage in in actually helping them.
• 33:21
SPEAKER_05: And they're always so terrible, the outfits, right?
• 33:24
SPEAKER_05: And I'm just like looking at him like this is like I Yamamoto or whatever, sorry.
• 33:29
SPEAKER_05: Uh no, that's the picture for the Dodgers.
• 33:31
SPEAKER_05: Koju Maru, uh Catherine's fake, right?
• 33:34
SPEAKER_05: That was weird last season, right?
• 33:36
SPEAKER_05: But uh Windenburg's like costumes this season were just they weren't even good.
• 33:40
SPEAKER_05: Like, I don't it makes me angry that any I honestly log lady was good.
• 33:44
SPEAKER_05: All right, you know what?
• 33:45
SPEAKER_05: Like I think Logan really good was actually good.
• 33:48
SPEAKER_02: I I was laughing so hard when Pete walked into the the police station, like the log lady stole my truck.
• 33:57
SPEAKER_05: I saw a blue truck, yeah, a blue dog that was so funny, and then she like walks in like a moment later.
• 34:05
SPEAKER_06: And it's just like where is it?
• 34:10
SPEAKER_05: But the best moment of the entire season.
• 34:14
  SPEAKER_05: I mean, okay, I can't all right.
• 34:15
SPEAKER_05: The final 10 minutes we I'm leaving, or whatever, the final 15 minutes, right?
• 34:20
SPEAKER_05: I'm like, that's a different freaking being that I'm not addressing yet, okay?
• 34:26
SPEAKER_05: Because um I'm screaming, I'm screaming very loudly.
• 34:32
SPEAKER_05: I'm screaming so loudly that I'm popping the volume, okay?
• 34:35
SPEAKER_05: Uh was when Leo, and I don't believe this has anything to do with any of the abuse he suffered, okay, at all.
• 34:44
SPEAKER_05: And by the way, I know last week, and I feel like you guys knew this.
• 34:47
  SPEAKER_05: You set me up.
• 34:48
SPEAKER_05: You're like, oh Rich, do you think that Leo deserves?
• 34:51
  unknown: You know what?
• 34:52
SPEAKER_05: Hilariously, I still think he does, all right?
• 34:55
SPEAKER_05: But and and and on top of that, I'm gonna double, I'm gonna triple down on that because my favorite moment of the entire series so far was dumb butt Leo, I don't want to hit the sensors, goes over and he's like, huh, I've got the remote now.
• 35:10
SPEAKER_05: I've got the remote, Windom, right?
• 35:12
SPEAKER_05: And you see him like getting ready, and Windom's getting killed, and he's like, I'm gonna shock you, and he shocks himself.
• 35:19
SPEAKER_05: And then what I don't understand is why does he keep shocking himself over and over again?
• 35:29
  SPEAKER_05: Why, guys?
• 35:31
  SPEAKER_05: Why?
• 35:32
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that was actually like funny.
• 35:33
SPEAKER_06: I was like, what like I was like, what do you think that you're gonna accomplish with that?
• 35:37
SPEAKER_06: Hello, do you not realize that like when you're getting shocked, it's coming from your neck?
• 35:41
SPEAKER_06: And when he's pressing that remote, obviously it's this thing around your neck that's shocking you.
• 35:47
SPEAKER_02: I think I think he is, you know, he's coming from a vegetative state to a place where he's able to be ambulatory again.
• 35:58
SPEAKER_02: So his brain's not totally there, and then repeated shocks is probably also not good for your brain, and then like the Stockholm syndrome that he um was like roped into.
• 36:09
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 36:09
SPEAKER_06: So it you know it was kind of interesting, uh, Leo's story.
• 36:15
SPEAKER_06: It was almost like it was almost like what what he was like doing to Shelly was happening to him.
• 36:23
  SPEAKER_02: Right, yeah.
• 36:24
SPEAKER_06: I I actually he was experiencing like what he was like dishing out, and you know, I at least you know, at least there was some like redeeming, like he let the um like he had let the the major and he was like, hey, like you know, go go save Shelly.
• 36:42
SPEAKER_06: But yeah, that was just Yeah, like the this part of the season, just yeah, there was so much going on.
• 36:50
SPEAKER_07: W what I really like about Leo's plot line is that it's like you obviously hate Leo and you want to see him suffer, but they really make you question how much you want to see him suffer, and it kind of reminds me of like Theon Greyjoy from Game of Thrones, where you really hate Theon and you're like, I hope he gets his come on pants, and then I mean Leo walked so that the Theon's plot line could run, because I mean it Theon's was way worse, obviously.
• 37:18
SPEAKER_07: Um, but like after a while, you're you're genuinely like nobody should have to go through this.
• 37:23
SPEAKER_07: Like, yes, what he did was really horrible, and like he was a really crappy character, but watching it is so difficult, and it really makes you kind of question your humanity of like it's just easier to like like the death sentence would almost just be like less of a torture than what poor Theon went through.
• 37:41
SPEAKER_07: Not not Leo, I think Leo.
• 37:43
SPEAKER_07: Like I think like you said, Anthony, it's like he kind of got what he gave.
• 37:48
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so you're saying that he he deserved the basically the prolonged death sentence because he was like basically mentally dead, yeah.
• 37:56
SPEAKER_06: Um yeah, it was actually yeah, it was like doubled, yeah, because he had that whole brain dead thing going on, and then he gets like kidnapped.
• 38:10
SPEAKER_06: So that yeah, that that was that was interesting.
• 38:14
SPEAKER_02: Did you guys find that this half of the season meandered a little bit more than was necessary and or what do you mean, man?
• 38:27
SPEAKER_05: Like the whole thing meanders.
• 38:29
  SPEAKER_05: I don't know what you're talking about.
• 38:30
SPEAKER_05: Like it makes no kind.
• 38:31
SPEAKER_05: Alright, like I guess, but like it was like, yeah, like I don't I just like I impress it was just like okay, you guys want you want to get loco essay?
• 38:42
  SPEAKER_05: Let's get loco.
• 38:43
SPEAKER_05: Like that's kind of what what David Lynch did here.
• 38:46
SPEAKER_05: He just there was just no Okay, man.
• 38:50
SPEAKER_02: So okay, let me let me pause.
• 38:52
SPEAKER_05: The screaming, like this at the end, like there's just just uh it it's it's egregious, egregious to my earlobes, like my eardrums, like stop it.
• 39:03
SPEAKER_05: Like you made your point.
• 39:04
SPEAKER_02: Well were you listening to like a jump scared thing on uh headphones?
• 39:08
SPEAKER_05: Yes, and I had it up very loudly, okay?
• 39:10
SPEAKER_05: And I was very jump scared every single time, it was very disturbing.
• 39:14
SPEAKER_02: Um whenever whenever Laura came back on this screen, whenever Laura came back on the screen, he was just like, oh god, oh god.
• 39:20
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I like braced myself.
• 39:26
  SPEAKER_06: I laughed.
• 39:27
  SPEAKER_06: I was just like, what's happening?
• 39:30
  SPEAKER_05: Sorry.
• 39:30
SPEAKER_05: I've got evil dead hand randomly.
• 39:33
  SPEAKER_06: Man I I I I I don't know.
• 39:34
SPEAKER_06: Like I I just I I I obviously had like way more like of a good time than Rich did.
• 39:43
SPEAKER_06: I I don't know, like it's it it the the randomness just it I I felt like I was laughing all the time.
• 39:52
SPEAKER_06: It was the it it was like partially it was obviously like a serious show that had lighthearted moments, but But it was just like also just really funny.
• 40:04
SPEAKER_06: And just it would catch you, like, like, what is going on?
• 40:08
SPEAKER_06: And it like I would laugh after that.
• 40:11
SPEAKER_06: Like when when like when Laura started screaming, I'm like, okay, like, what?
• 40:16
  SPEAKER_06: Okay.
• 40:17
  SPEAKER_06: And I would laugh.
• 40:18
  SPEAKER_06: I genuinely laughed.
• 40:20
SPEAKER_06: And then and then like the double of Cooper that would like come into the room and just like let me tell you the the the Black Lodge part.
• 40:30
  SPEAKER_06: Iconic.
• 40:32
SPEAKER_06: Guys, the giant old man lied to me.
• 40:36
SPEAKER_06: David Lynch was I actually forgot, Rich.
• 40:38
  SPEAKER_02: I I I didn't really remember.
• 40:40
  SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I also forgot.
• 40:42
SPEAKER_05: And he literally goes, like, I like I thought I this is what I thought you guys would just give me the FU because he goes, one and the same.
• 40:51
SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I actually like completely forgot that, but remember I was kind of saying that.
• 40:55
SPEAKER_07: I was like, I feel like he's connected, like he knows when the giant is going to arrive, but I forgot that they're one and the same.
• 41:01
SPEAKER_02: So the the thing I keep dancing around with this particular half of the season, um, and the real reason we broke it after episode nine is that David Lynch left the show after uh Laura Palmer's reveal.
• 41:22
  SPEAKER_07: Really?
• 41:24
  SPEAKER_03: I don't know what's happening anymore.
• 41:25
SPEAKER_07: We didn't want to tell you because we wanted to see if you'd notice.
• 41:29
  SPEAKER_07: I don't know what's happening anymore.
• 41:31
SPEAKER_07: But then he came back.
• 41:32
  SPEAKER_02: Okay, yeah.
• 41:33
SPEAKER_02: So hold on, hold on, wait, wait, wait.
• 41:35
SPEAKER_02: He was upset that they he wasn't really he wasn't ready to unveil the Leland Palmer thing, but the this the station forced it.
• 41:46
SPEAKER_02: So he rushed the the ending of the Laura Palmer story, um, and you know charged Leo uh Leland with uh that and everything.
• 41:56
SPEAKER_02: And that was the intent, what that was like the the the true end of that mystery, but he he got a he didn't like that they were forcing him uh to do things uh tidily basically.
• 42:08
SPEAKER_02: So he left the show and Mark Frost kind of did as well, and it was it was run by like the the writer's room, and that's why most people find that this half of the season is like m markedly more meandering and uh tonally off.
• 42:29
SPEAKER_03: Like it does less weird, it's less weird.
• 42:32
SPEAKER_02: They there's a lot of funny random scenes and like little plot lines that happen, but there's there's less uh psychological horror overall than David Lynch usually does.
• 42:47
SPEAKER_02: But knowing that the series was probably not gonna be renewed for a third season because like scheduling stuff like ruins basically the the viewership after you know once the second season started, they like David Lynch came back and kind of like around episode 20, that's that's when the the the story kind of starts wrapping itself closer to where where they were going with the Black Lodge, and that last episode, uh 22 with the Black Lodge, um I think it's called Beyond Life and Death, is uh the episode that he comes back at.
• 43:28
SPEAKER_02: And that's that's where you start getting like the really long drawn-out scenes, like in the bank fault.
• 43:35
SPEAKER_02: That is like classic, classic David Lynch.
• 43:38
  SPEAKER_05: Oh, Sherilyn Fenn.
• 43:40
  SPEAKER_05: R.I.P.
• 43:41
  SPEAKER_05: Rest in peace.
• 43:42
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 43:43
  SPEAKER_05: Oh, Audrey.
• 43:45
SPEAKER_05: That was uh absolutely absurd.
• 43:50
SPEAKER_07: And he never called, he never even like made the phone call, she asked.
• 43:54
SPEAKER_02: So so basically, he created a cliffhanger so crazy um on purpose, like knowing that this show was getting cancelled.
• 44:03
SPEAKER_02: He he was like, Alright, I'm gonna burn it to the ground.
• 44:07
SPEAKER_02: Um, so he basically that's I mean, I don't know that that is what he did, but everyone kind of assumes that that is the logic, you know, like this like let me make it so crazy that nobody can pick up the pieces.
• 44:20
SPEAKER_07: Or maybe like I feel like with him, it's like it's not that he wanted to burn it to the ground, because I don't think he's like destructive in nature, but I think he's like, I'm gonna do what I want.
• 44:29
  SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
• 44:30
SPEAKER_07: Like this last episode is gonna be what I want, and I'm not gonna cater to anyone.
• 44:34
SPEAKER_02: And obviously, like a third season can be written, you know, past that point.
• 44:38
SPEAKER_02: They just, you know, fix fix uh whatever is going on with Cooper and Bob and all that.
• 44:43
SPEAKER_02: But when it comes to like the the return series, which is probably what we're gonna be covering next, Anthony.
• 44:51
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah?
• 44:51
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah, we can we can do that.
• 44:53
SPEAKER_06: I st I still kind of um I I'm I might sneak in Firewalk with me.
• 44:58
SPEAKER_02: Do you wanna would you rather do Firewalk with me?
• 45:00
  SPEAKER_06: No, no, no.
• 45:01
SPEAKER_06: We can we can uh we can do the the other series.
• 45:05
SPEAKER_06: I just wanna like kind of cover all my basis and and watch that also.
• 45:11
  SPEAKER_06: Okay.
• 45:11
SPEAKER_07: Um I think I'm the only one showing apprehension to a podcast about Firewalk with me, because I think it would be like very dark and not funny and silly.
• 45:20
SPEAKER_07: It like it would be a tonal shift for the podcast.
• 45:23
SPEAKER_07: I mean, we could still do it, like I'm not opposed to doing it, but it's like because it's from like it's about Laura's life, you're not gonna have like those there's not a lot of like quirkiness or funniness.
• 45:35
SPEAKER_07: So I think a lot of Twin Peaks fans at the time when they found out there was like a Twin Peaks movie, they were excited for that, and that is not what they received.
• 45:44
SPEAKER_05: So what I'm hearing is that like normally there is a certain level of juice that I would say that the fans like expect, right?
• 45:54
SPEAKER_05: And what you're saying is that Fire Walking Me doesn't have that juice that we're expecting.
• 45:58
SPEAKER_07: It's definitely crunchier than juicier.
• 46:00
SPEAKER_05: So speaking of juice and crunch, I I th I think it it's time for you guys to, if you haven't already, uh go ahead and uh Anthony, what do you want him to do for us?
• 46:11
SPEAKER_06: I really want to like say this in you know reverse, but like recorded reverse, but I can't, you know, we don't have that that technology here at uh Project Ecology, but you know, I want it to be, you know, kind of like that that oil that uh that the log lady had, you know, it was kind of liquidy, juicy.
• 46:35
SPEAKER_06: Um you know, location of the Black Lodge.
• 46:39
SPEAKER_02: It was a de it was definitely a juicy jar.
• 46:42
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that was a juicy jar, you know.
• 46:44
SPEAKER_06: That that's the the the kind of of review that we want.
• 46:49
SPEAKER_06: You know, we want it to be so juicy that it brings us to the Black Lodge, okay?
• 46:56
SPEAKER_06: We won't mention the White Lodge because we don't know much about it, but you know, we will we do know about the Black Lodge because we've actually been in it, you know.
• 47:06
SPEAKER_06: Lots of red curtains, people talking in reverse, but normal at the same time, screaming, doubles, just curtains everywhere.
• 47:16
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 47:17
SPEAKER_06: You do do you do you all like feel like I just rambled on like how confusing that was.
• 47:22
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 47:23
SPEAKER_06: That just just imagine how we felt.
• 47:26
  SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
• 47:26
SPEAKER_07: Do you see when you just like watch stuff?
• 47:28
SPEAKER_07: You're you're just waiting, like you're just watching, looking for the juicy plug.
• 47:33
SPEAKER_02: No, to be honest, I don't think I I don't think I consciously look out for it like I look out for like dates in movies and stuff.
• 47:39
SPEAKER_02: It just happens to come up in conversation occasionally.
• 47:42
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
• 47:43
  SPEAKER_01: Okay.
• 47:43
SPEAKER_02: But yeah, guys, we need some juicy reviews, some five-star juicy reviews.
• 47:47
SPEAKER_02: Uh, please be sure to give us a uh review wherever you listen to podcasts, and just like Log Lady's Jar of Coop, make it juicy.
• 47:56
SPEAKER_07: So we're not gonna talk about how Josie turned into a doorknob.
• 47:59
  SPEAKER_02: Oh, we can.
• 48:00
SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah, that was wild.
• 48:03
  SPEAKER_06: That was my favorite.
• 48:04
SPEAKER_07: I know it's something I've just been waiting for that moment.
• 48:07
SPEAKER_02: I wish we did this podcast uh as a video podcast occasionally.
• 48:11
SPEAKER_02: Like, I don't we don't like it dressed up or anything for this, but like I would I I just want you guys to see Rich's face.
• 48:19
SPEAKER_02: The like crossed arms, the like body language.
• 48:22
SPEAKER_02: Every time we bring up a new topic, it's just like an angry face and like shaking of the head.
• 48:26
  SPEAKER_02: It's it's the funniest thing.
• 48:28
SPEAKER_05: Alright, like it's almost like my parents' divorce.
• 48:32
SPEAKER_05: I think I just forgot so much to protect myself.
• 48:36
SPEAKER_05: Okay, like so I I if you had not directly mentioned it, I think that my brain was like cool, right?
• 48:45
SPEAKER_05: But that reminded me of the face of one of the characters in the beginning opening montage to Hercules The Legendary Journeys with Kevin Sorbo, where one guy I think was getting turned to stone by Medusa, and it it had it gave me like similar vibes, like just being trapped, and and I just was like, I don't know, again, again, again, and and like it's the same problem I kind of hide with Naruto, right?
• 49:19
SPEAKER_05: Like there's this establishment, right?
• 49:22
SPEAKER_05: Like I've okay, all right, Bob can go into people, all right?
• 49:28
SPEAKER_05: Uh some people can see Bob, some people can't.
• 49:31
  SPEAKER_05: There's horses, right?
• 49:34
SPEAKER_05: Uh honestly, the Koachi Caves and Lex Luthor uh investigating them really uh actually helped me get centered in the series.
• 49:45
SPEAKER_05: I was like, oh, so cool.
• 49:47
SPEAKER_05: It's just like, you know, uh I don't want to call it I don't I don't want to be offensive in my terminology of it.
• 49:53
SPEAKER_05: I don't know, uh it's not animism, uh but you know, like it's it's a theology that whatever.
• 49:58
SPEAKER_05: It's it there is a theology there, it's attributed to something.
• 50:02
SPEAKER_05: I was like, okay, cool.
• 50:04
SPEAKER_05: I I can accept this, you know, like that actually helped oddly more than a lot.
• 50:09
SPEAKER_05: I the the symbol stuff, and then it being on the tattoos, like for some reason I was like, oh yeah, that happened to Clark, man, you know, knocked him out, he woke up, boom, got a mark, you know.
• 50:20
SPEAKER_02: Like that's the actually I liked that whole aspect of the show.
• 50:24
SPEAKER_02: That was my favorite part of this season, uh, or this half of the season, was the continued like growth of the lore about like the town itself and its Native American roots, like the the legends that um Deputy Hawkes people have about the White Lodge and the Black Lodge, um, and then finally getting that uh petroglyph in full.
• 50:49
SPEAKER_02: And I kind of like that Andy was just like so transfixed with it that he was literally cracking it as as as they were going, but like nobody believed him because like it's Andy.
• 51:00
  SPEAKER_05: Oh, D D D- Day?
• 51:02
  SPEAKER_05: And they're like, what?
• 51:03
  SPEAKER_05: D-Day?
• 51:05
  SPEAKER_02: Dad Day.
• 51:05
SPEAKER_05: One guy's literally named Dick, right?
• 51:07
  SPEAKER_05: And they're like, What?
• 51:08
SPEAKER_05: It's like oh no, it's dad day, you know.
• 51:10
SPEAKER_05: Uh the miss the the fact that any of those women were just c all of them were convinced they were gonna win Miss Tin Miss Twin Peaks, and the fact that like with 10 people in the competition, this is some sort of illustrious competition that everyone cares about, like the talent pool, my friends, includes a one-eyed woman who thinks she's 16.
• 51:32
  SPEAKER_05: Like that's talent pool.
• 51:33
  SPEAKER_05: I don't understand.
• 51:36
SPEAKER_05: And also, if she's she's super strong too.
• 51:39
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, she actually Anthony.
• 51:42
  SPEAKER_05: Is she super strong?
• 51:43
SPEAKER_05: Because if she's super strong, why does the the knock at the end like jiggle her back together?
• 51:51
SPEAKER_05: Because it's like if she was super strong, she would resist that.
• 51:54
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, but I mean, usually I I mean, haven't you noticed that like have you ever noticed that any any like it seems like any movie or TV show when there's like any hulking strong individual, they're weakest at their head.
• 52:09
SPEAKER_06: Come on, you're I mean you got your brain there.
• 52:12
  SPEAKER_02: That's a good point, actually.
• 52:13
SPEAKER_06: You know, so so I I would say any brain trauma is gonna take anybody out.
• 52:18
SPEAKER_06: So but there's that uh the whole thing with Andy and uh Dick Tremain with that like that like little brother.
• 52:30
SPEAKER_06: I always like they were like, oh, he may he may be the devil.
• 52:35
SPEAKER_02: I wonder if that directly influenced the Adam Sandler movie called Little Nicky.
• 52:40
SPEAKER_06: Because dude, I was thinking the same thing.
• 52:44
SPEAKER_02: Because the kid's name was Little Nicki, and they kept saying that he he's like the devil, and little Nikki is literally about like I think the son of the devil or something like that.
• 52:53
SPEAKER_06: I was thinking the same thing.
• 52:55
  SPEAKER_06: I was like, hmm.
• 52:56
SPEAKER_02: And then they dropped the storyline entirely.
• 52:58
SPEAKER_02: They're just like, next, let's have uh Dick Tremain do uh wine tasting.
• 53:06
SPEAKER_06: Dude, they had that guy everywhere.
• 53:07
  SPEAKER_06: They had him everywhere.
• 53:08
SPEAKER_02: He was doing the wine tasting, he was doing the He's supposed to be uh like a salesperson at a at a like department store.
• 53:16
SPEAKER_02: What is he doing everywhere?
• 53:18
  SPEAKER_06: He's doing everything.
• 53:20
SPEAKER_06: He's a judge at Miss uh Miss Twin Peaks.
• 53:23
SPEAKER_05: There are a few men.
• 53:24
  SPEAKER_05: Speaking of everywhere.
• 53:25
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, tell me.
• 53:25
SPEAKER_05: Well, where on is that one uh Harlott uh who almost killed the mayor's brother, uh, which is just such a ridiculous story.
• 53:34
SPEAKER_07: Oh she's she's the sister of a very famous celebrity.
• 53:40
SPEAKER_07: Does anybody want to guess who she's the sister of?
• 53:43
SPEAKER_02: I think you told me, and I've already forgotten.
• 53:45
  SPEAKER_07: Oh, really?
• 53:45
  SPEAKER_06: Well, I know her.
• 53:46
SPEAKER_06: I've seen her in other things.
• 53:48
  SPEAKER_06: Uh Robin Lively.
• 53:50
  SPEAKER_07: Oh, yes.
• 53:51
SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I've seen her, I've seen her in other stuff.
• 53:53
SPEAKER_07: Based on that, who's her sister?
• 53:55
  SPEAKER_05: Brooke uh Blake Lavely.
• 53:58
  SPEAKER_06: Oh, that's right.
• 53:59
  SPEAKER_06: That's right.
• 54:00
SPEAKER_07: We also had Zoe De Chanel's mom on the show.
• 54:02
SPEAKER_06: And then and then I also was it the actress.
• 54:06
SPEAKER_02: Uh Zoe De Chanel's mom.
• 54:07
  SPEAKER_06: And then the actress.
• 54:08
  SPEAKER_06: Oh, I I I can see that.
• 54:10
SPEAKER_06: The actress for Norma is uh Rashida Jones' mom.
• 54:15
  SPEAKER_06: Wait, I didn't know that.
• 54:16
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 54:17
  SPEAKER_06: Stop.
• 54:18
  SPEAKER_06: I didn't know.
• 54:18
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I stumbled across that.
• 54:19
  SPEAKER_06: I was like, oh, that's crazy.
• 54:21
  SPEAKER_05: That's cool.
• 54:22
  SPEAKER_02: What'd you say, Rich?
• 54:23
  SPEAKER_05: Oh, hold on.
• 54:25
SPEAKER_02: Oh, every time we give him a new fact about this show, like his whole worldview collapses.
• 54:31
  SPEAKER_05: Ben Horn.
• 54:32
  SPEAKER_05: Oh man.
• 54:33
SPEAKER_05: What what also Billy Zane.
• 54:35
  SPEAKER_05: Billy Zane!
• 54:36
SPEAKER_03: Billy Zane! Billy Zane means that.
• 54:38
SPEAKER_05: I do, I would, I do want to have to point out that my wife said that um she's a huge fan of Murder She Wrote.
• 54:43
SPEAKER_05: Like, like I won't give out her government name because I'm I'm kind of really embarrassed by how much she loves this show.
• 54:50
SPEAKER_05: She absolutely and she sat down and she goes, Why is that I keep seeing people from my show?
• 54:55
SPEAKER_05: And I'm like, What do you mean?
• 54:56
SPEAKER_05: And she was like, That guy's on the show.
• 54:58
SPEAKER_05: And I'm like, You know who that guy is.
• 55:00
SPEAKER_05: She's like, I don't know, the guy who's on Murder She Wrote.
• 55:02
SPEAKER_05: I'm like, that's like I was upset for her, right?
• 55:05
  SPEAKER_05: I was like, that's Billy Zane.
• 55:06
SPEAKER_05: Like every like everybody knows Billy Zane.
• 55:08
  SPEAKER_07: Especially Billy.
• 55:09
SPEAKER_05: And she pointed out a couple things.
• 55:11
SPEAKER_05: So no, she didn't remember that part.
• 55:13
SPEAKER_05: She was like, no, that's the guy from Murder She Wrote.
• 55:16
SPEAKER_05: Because apparently, like Murder She Wrote was shot in a very similar, like, I guess the I mean it was the same time period, so just the the way it's filmed, like the quality, almost soapy in some way that it is.
• 55:28
SPEAKER_05: Uh that type of film was very reminiscent.
• 55:30
SPEAKER_05: Uh also, did you guys notice a scene where Billy Zane was wearing like a thick cable sweater that he tucked into his jeans?
• 55:36
SPEAKER_07: Yes, I really liked Ben Switch.
• 55:37
  SPEAKER_05: Which is highly distressing.
• 55:40
SPEAKER_05: Uh I openly said, does he have a sweater tucked into his jeans?
• 55:44
SPEAKER_07: You can't do anything to make him look bad.
• 55:46
SPEAKER_07: He could wear anything, and he's always gonna look great.
• 55:49
SPEAKER_02: He could dress as Log Lady.
• 55:53
  SPEAKER_06: He's Billy.
• 55:54
  SPEAKER_06: What about Ben Hornman?
• 55:56
  SPEAKER_06: Oh my god.
• 55:58
  SPEAKER_06: The Confederate general.
• 55:59
SPEAKER_02: What an he literally was he was playing as Robert E.
• 56:03
SPEAKER_02: Lee, and he he won the war for the South.
• 56:08
SPEAKER_06: He had a whole like friggin' diorama of the world.
• 56:12
SPEAKER_02: And the psych the psychiatrist was just like, no, just you gotta let it play it out.
• 56:17
SPEAKER_02: And then like they were singing songs together.
• 56:21
SPEAKER_05: Like after Laura, like everything happened, right?
• 56:25
SPEAKER_05: Like, didn't didn't anybody in the town be like, yeah, that's the worst guy to do anything here?
• 56:31
  SPEAKER_07: Like, I don't know.
• 56:32
SPEAKER_07: He lost zero street cred after Laura.
• 56:35
SPEAKER_07: Like, they all still like kept going to him.
• 56:38
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 56:38
SPEAKER_07: He's just the town shrink.
• 56:40
SPEAKER_02: He's just the town shrink.
• 56:41
SPEAKER_07: I did love the outfits, especially Augury's outfit and like the final scene of the like of the Civil War battle.
• 56:49
SPEAKER_07: Like I I love like period pieces, so I was a big fan of that.
• 56:52
SPEAKER_07: I thought that looked fantastic.
• 56:54
SPEAKER_02: I do I do love the I I like the Civil War arc for Ben Horn just just because I think they did such a fun job with it, and and like all the other characters were playing roles within the war, but also playing real world.
• 57:10
SPEAKER_02: I mean not real world, but you know, like their their own characters at the same time.
• 57:14
SPEAKER_02: So like Bobby would just like randomly like blow the trumpet really bad and then just like skulk out of the room, like I don't care about this at all.
• 57:25
  unknown: I love Bobby Man.
• 57:27
SPEAKER_05: Bobby is strongly just like Bobby.
• 57:30
SPEAKER_05: Uh there's one part where like Coops really I can't remember exactly.
• 57:34
SPEAKER_05: Maybe you guys will remember.
• 57:35
  SPEAKER_05: He's like, it's a very serious moment.
• 57:38
SPEAKER_05: He's going on about something, and then he just like stops to correct someone about something very minuscule.
• 57:43
SPEAKER_05: It was like an emergency moment, and he was like, uh giving out orders.
• 57:46
SPEAKER_05: He's like, also, like, that's not the way things are done.
• 57:48
  SPEAKER_05: I can't I don't remember.
• 57:50
SPEAKER_07: Oh, I do kind of remember, but I don't remember what it was that he and who he was correcting.
• 57:54
SPEAKER_05: I yeah, it may have been Andy because Andy's dumb, but it it it just was so coop.
• 57:59
SPEAKER_05: Like in that moment, it was just for me, like he's being very serious, right?
• 58:03
SPEAKER_05: But then like he just has to correct someone about like something the way they said something or did something, and then went back to like the matter at hand.
• 58:10
SPEAKER_07: I feel like as teachers we can run into the like you sometimes have to just like okay, I can't let that slide now back to what we're doing.
• 58:17
SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah, like uh like someone uses a double negative, and I'm like, uh you know, like I I've had a kid like I've been really angry at a kid for like hitting somebody else, but he used a double negative, and I'm like, first of all, that's a double negative, all right?
• 58:30
SPEAKER_05: So let's change that, but let's address the hitting.
• 58:33
SPEAKER_05: Uh, you know, so I really did appreciate that.
• 58:37
SPEAKER_05: But honestly, like guys, when they started talking about the young lady that died in Coop's arms, okay, and honestly, this was my biggest F you moment to all of you in this podcast, David Lynch, number one, okay?
• 58:53
  SPEAKER_05: It's not Diane, it's not Diane.
• 58:55
  SPEAKER_05: I didn't know it wasn't Diane.
• 58:57
  SPEAKER_07: It was Diane.
• 58:57
SPEAKER_07: Well, I mean Because she died, and Diane's not dead.
• 59:01
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Diane, Diane's still giving him like earplugs and stuff.
• 59:05
SPEAKER_07: Yeah, she sent him earplugs when he requested them.
• 59:08
SPEAKER_05: That would be a huge plot hole if they uh He also thinks that his his a giant took his ring off, but a dead man, an old man didn't give him coffee.
• 59:17
SPEAKER_06: I I don't I thought that you didn't get Dakota when when Dakota like when you were like asking last week, you're like, are we gonna find out who Diane is?
• 59:28
SPEAKER_06: Dakota's like, answers will be given.
• 59:31
SPEAKER_06: And it's just the way that he said it did not instill comment I knew he was baiting you.
• 59:39
  SPEAKER_06: I like I just I felt it.
• 59:41
SPEAKER_05: No, no, you no answer.
• 59:44
SPEAKER_06: I I was just like I was just like, there's no way.
• 59:46
SPEAKER_06: I was like the way that this show is like it's not gonna give that to you.
• 59:52
SPEAKER_02: We we might we might learn in the return.
• 59:53
  SPEAKER_02: Why are you laughing?
• 59:54
SPEAKER_05: If Diane is not revealed, you will attend at least one Met game every month.
• 1:00:00
  SPEAKER_05: For the entire season.
• 1:00:01
  SPEAKER_05: Jeez.
• 1:00:02
  SPEAKER_05: Wow.
• 1:00:03
SPEAKER_05: By the way, there's like six months.
• 1:00:05
  SPEAKER_05: That's like six games.
• 1:00:06
SPEAKER_05: You guys are like, what?
• 1:00:07
  SPEAKER_05: By the way, Dakota.
• 1:00:10
SPEAKER_05: So just to let you guys know, he's drinking out of a Mets glass and he's wearing, I'm fairly certain, a Brandon Nemo, a NYC Connect hoodie.
• 1:00:21
  SPEAKER_05: Nemo?
• 1:00:22
SPEAKER_05: For the New York Mets.
• 1:00:23
SPEAKER_02: I don't think it has Nemo's number or anything on it.
• 1:00:26
SPEAKER_02: There's like a logo on the sleeve.
• 1:00:27
SPEAKER_02: I think it's just the Mets logo.
• 1:00:29
SPEAKER_02: But um yeah, I like to support my New York teams.
• 1:00:32
SPEAKER_02: Alright, we have so much to talk about.
• 1:00:33
SPEAKER_02: There's literally so much that happens in these episodes.
• 1:00:37
SPEAKER_02: Uh let's just the James Hurley story.
• 1:00:41
  SPEAKER_02: Everybody hates it.
• 1:00:42
SPEAKER_02: Like it's it's a it's a known thing that everybody hates the James Hurley art.
• 1:00:47
SPEAKER_02: Because it just comes out of nowhere, leaves, and um, it's like they didn't know what else to do with the character, so they just eventually just sent him sent him going to San Francisco and uh Mexico.
• 1:00:59
SPEAKER_07: My favorite part was in his postcard that he writes to Donna.
• 1:01:03
SPEAKER_07: He's like, I'm in San Francisco, it's great here.
• 1:01:06
  SPEAKER_07: Next stop, Mexico.
• 1:01:08
SPEAKER_07: It's like that's definitely not your next stop on a bike, pal.
• 1:01:12
SPEAKER_07: You're gonna have to make many stops before you hit Mexico.
• 1:01:15
  SPEAKER_07: That's a very hard drive.
• 1:01:17
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's gotta be like what, 12, 13 hours from San Francisco?
• 1:01:21
  SPEAKER_07: Next stop, Mexico.
• 1:01:22
SPEAKER_02: I'd I'd assume he wants to take the Pacific Coast Highway because he's on a, you know, it's like a sightseeing thing.
• 1:01:27
SPEAKER_02: But anyway, um, yeah, the Evelyn story really is uh probably most people's or one of most one of the least favorite things in Twin Peaks.
• 1:01:39
SPEAKER_02: It's just like it comes out of nowhere.
• 1:01:41
SPEAKER_02: It's not even in it's not even in Twin Peaks.
• 1:01:44
SPEAKER_06: It like leaves as fast as it shows up.
• 1:01:47
  SPEAKER_05: Correct.
• 1:01:48
SPEAKER_05: It's like the Chicago storyline in Stranger Things.
• 1:01:50
  SPEAKER_05: Yes.
• 1:01:51
  SPEAKER_05: Oh my god.
• 1:01:52
SPEAKER_05: And we don't want to for we want to forget about it.
• 1:01:55
SPEAKER_02: But they brought it back in the final season.
• 1:01:57
SPEAKER_02: Um they brought a character back.
• 1:02:00
SPEAKER_02: Anyway, let's Maybe Evelyn comes back.
• 1:02:03
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 1:02:04
SPEAKER_02: What do you think about episode 11, by the way?
• 1:02:06
SPEAKER_02: The the the real finale.
• 1:02:07
  SPEAKER_02: Oh, dude.
• 1:02:08
  SPEAKER_05: Oh, yeah.
• 1:02:09
  SPEAKER_05: The real, real finale.
• 1:02:11
SPEAKER_05: I gotta say, like, I did not expect what they were gonna do here.
• 1:02:18
  SPEAKER_02: Three Vecnas.
• 1:02:20
  SPEAKER_02: I didn't realize anyway.
• 1:02:23
  SPEAKER_05: Sorry, let's stop.
• 1:02:25
SPEAKER_05: And and Billy, what Billy did, oh dude, I was so confused.
• 1:02:31
SPEAKER_06: I was like, wait, what happened?
• 1:02:32
SPEAKER_05: He's like the true hero of the franchise.
• 1:02:34
SPEAKER_05: Like, we didn't know, he's like the Neville.
• 1:02:36
SPEAKER_05: Like, you know, we didn't see it coming, you know, but like there he is in all his denim glory, and then Bob took him over.
• 1:02:42
  SPEAKER_05: It's kind of crazy.
• 1:02:43
  SPEAKER_07: It's that crossover episode.
• 1:02:45
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 1:02:46
SPEAKER_06: There's a moment uh earlier in this in this part that um Major Briggs, like, you know, he disappears to the White Lodge.
• 1:02:56
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that was a cool scene, actually.
• 1:02:58
SPEAKER_06: And there's actually a really nice moment between Bobby and his mom.
• 1:03:02
SPEAKER_06: You know, like I like he was genuinely trying to like console her, and like you you could tell, and then like when he like showed up, like he was like, Oh my gosh, like he wasn't even mad, like he wasn't in popping off.
• 1:03:15
SPEAKER_06: Like when he showed up, like it was a mix of like amazement and kind of like relief.
• 1:03:20
SPEAKER_06: And when he like asked for a drink, he he didn't even like say anything, he just went and did it, you know.
• 1:03:26
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because I think I can't Bobby with you too.
• 1:03:30
SPEAKER_05: What you're yeah everyone here and their Bobby love.
• 1:03:34
SPEAKER_05: Go ahead, but like he is just he's uh he's like last week you made the point, like, oh, he had such a great moment with his dad, and then he was a douche two seconds later.
• 1:03:44
SPEAKER_05: Like, this man is a constant douche canoe, he's nice to his parents for three seconds, and you guys fall to pieces.
• 1:03:51
SPEAKER_05: Like, look at his behavior, but I I think he is a terrible human.
• 1:03:55
SPEAKER_02: What's great about um the like the David Lynch idea of like people is that it's not they're they're not boiled down to one emotion or one spare.
• 1:04:08
SPEAKER_06: Nobody's black or white, yeah, just like real life.
• 1:04:11
SPEAKER_02: Because you can be outwardly like I can do something that's bad, and the rest of the world sees it on video, and I'm now a bad guy, but the rest of my life can be totally normal, you know?
• 1:04:25
SPEAKER_05: So it's it's one of those, but Bob So like you could like maybe need to relieve yourself on a bus and go on a video, and some people think you're a terrible viewer, but maybe you're a really good dad.
• 1:04:38
SPEAKER_07: No redemption art of keyboard survivors.
• 1:04:40
  SPEAKER_02: Oh no.
• 1:04:41
  SPEAKER_02: Um what else?
• 1:04:43
SPEAKER_07: Like, I wanted to say I I really like speaking of kind of what Anthony was saying about like no characters like black or white, and like you kind of like even for Bobby, who's shown a lot of like really just morally impure moments, um, like there's kind of some moments of redemption.
• 1:05:01
SPEAKER_07: We have Ben Horn, who was basically Twin Peaks Jeffrey Epstein, and now he like bought the Bible and like the Torah and like a bunch of other books.
• 1:05:10
SPEAKER_07: He's like, I want to be a good person, and I feel like that would never get made today.
• 1:05:15
SPEAKER_07: It's like, no, you like you're just evil now.
• 1:05:18
SPEAKER_07: But he's like, I want to try to be good.
• 1:05:20
SPEAKER_02: What's funny is that he played out the Civil War for the South, won it, and then woke up like, I gotta be a better person.
• 1:05:35
SPEAKER_06: That whole arc was just hilarious, man.
• 1:05:37
SPEAKER_06: Every time it showed up, bro.
• 1:05:40
SPEAKER_06: Nadine, every time she showed up, I was laughing the whole time.
• 1:05:45
SPEAKER_06: I was like, this lady is out of her mind.
• 1:05:48
SPEAKER_02: I like how she ropes that guy, that kid Mike in to her.
• 1:05:52
SPEAKER_02: Yes, and he was totally into it.
• 1:05:54
SPEAKER_06: He wanted nothing to do with her, and then all of a sudden, like they're checking in to the to Ben Horn's hotel.
• 1:06:00
SPEAKER_06: The was it the Great North?
• 1:06:02
  SPEAKER_02: The Great Northern, yeah.
• 1:06:03
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah, dude.
• 1:06:04
SPEAKER_06: Like, like, and he's like pretending to be like an older man.
• 1:06:08
SPEAKER_07: What I love about when Ben Horn decides to be good is he actually like implodes Donna's perfect little family.
• 1:06:15
SPEAKER_07: Like he's like, I want to be a good person, and like you know, they were happy, and he basically kind of tried to ruin that.
• 1:06:22
SPEAKER_07: He's like, let me just slip in.
• 1:06:25
SPEAKER_02: I think he just he had things that he wanted to get off.
• 1:06:29
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he he had things that he wanted to get off of his chest, but that ruined their I don't know.
• 1:06:34
SPEAKER_07: I hate when people are like that, it's like, well, I need to speak my Yeah.
• 1:06:37
SPEAKER_06: I actually picked up on the I'm sorry, yeah.
• 1:06:40
  SPEAKER_07: You just muted me.
• 1:06:42
  SPEAKER_02: Sorry, keep going.
• 1:06:43
  SPEAKER_07: I don't remember what I was saying.
• 1:06:44
SPEAKER_05: Um You said uh that when people need to like uh speak their truth, kind of speak their truth, but it's really selfish.
• 1:06:52
SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I find sometimes like when people are like adamant on making an apology for something that's just like over.
• 1:06:57
  SPEAKER_07: I don't know.
• 1:06:58
SPEAKER_07: I guess a lot of people probably disagree with me on this, but I find it really selfish.
• 1:07:02
SPEAKER_07: Like if somebody from the past like reaches out and is like, you know, I really want to like apologize about this thing, it's like I don't want to like that's over.
• 1:07:08
SPEAKER_07: Like, I don't want to think about that.
• 1:07:10
  SPEAKER_07: Like, leave me alone.
• 1:07:11
SPEAKER_07: I'm glad you're I'm glad you took care of yourself.
• 1:07:13
SPEAKER_07: Like now you just reminded me of something crappy.
• 1:07:15
SPEAKER_07: Like you've ruined my day, sir.
• 1:07:17
  SPEAKER_07: Leave me alone.
• 1:07:18
  SPEAKER_02: But anywho, Donna.
• 1:07:19
SPEAKER_06: So yeah, I picked up on that though.
• 1:07:21
SPEAKER_06: Ben Holmes um like pretty early on, the like that he was Donna's dad.
• 1:07:27
  SPEAKER_07: Oh really?
• 1:07:28
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, like not earlier in the series, but like when he star when he first started meeting with with um Donna's mother, I know that like the like you might have initially thought like okay, there there might have been an affair or they might have been together at some point.
• 1:07:45
SPEAKER_06: I was thinking, you know what?
• 1:07:48
SPEAKER_06: No, I have a feeling that that Ben might be Donna's dad.
• 1:07:51
SPEAKER_06: Like I just I I just felt that that was because I I I felt like that would have been too convenient for the for there to be some side some sort of affair.
• 1:08:01
SPEAKER_06: It had to be something else, and obviously it was, and so I was like, dang, okay.
• 1:08:06
SPEAKER_06: So I I was like, you know, I I had to think like the show to like come down to that, you know?
• 1:08:13
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 1:08:14
  SPEAKER_02: I see.
• 1:08:14
SPEAKER_02: Uh speaking about Major Briggs, I think he's one of my favorite characters, just because he's like true good, you know, like uh his alignment is like true good.
• 1:08:25
SPEAKER_02: Um he does things out of like a moral obligation, not necessarily um for for growth or power or anything like that.
• 1:08:34
SPEAKER_02: Um and he even comments about like after he went into the White Lodge and he was, you know, uh interrogated by uh I think it was the Air Force was the one interrogating him.
• 1:08:45
SPEAKER_02: He says that their intentions weren't wholly uh altruistic and that you know he's it I I it kind of scared him because he's no longer um of the mindset that what he's been researching um has been for the good for for good, you know, like it he thinks it's been probably used for like weaponizing whatever is happening in Twin Peaks or whatever.
• 1:09:09
SPEAKER_02: And I I think that the character's just really cool.
• 1:09:12
SPEAKER_02: Um just like he's he's like this wise old man, but he's uh a military general who's like kidnapped by some like uh an owl and some glowing light.
• 1:09:23
SPEAKER_02: Uh it's just him along with the log lady, along with Hawk and like the petroglyph and you know the the tattoos that they get.
• 1:09:32
  SPEAKER_02: I I really like that.
• 1:09:33
SPEAKER_02: What did we think of uh Annie?
• 1:09:35
  SPEAKER_02: Annie shows up.
• 1:09:38
  SPEAKER_02: What's that face, Rich?
• 1:09:39
  SPEAKER_02: I can't I can't uh understand that emotion.
• 1:09:42
  SPEAKER_05: It's Heather Graham, bro.
• 1:09:43
  SPEAKER_05: I'm sorry.
• 1:09:44
SPEAKER_05: I have to remove myself in the discussion for the remainder.
• 1:09:48
SPEAKER_05: Uh I I will uh I'm sweet on Heather Graham.
• 1:09:52
SPEAKER_05: Uh have been since a young weed lad.
• 1:09:55
SPEAKER_05: Uh when she showed up, I went, oh, oh, oh, what's going on?
• 1:09:59
SPEAKER_05: And honestly, the storyline is for shit.
• 1:10:02
  SPEAKER_05: Uh so weird.
• 1:10:03
SPEAKER_05: Uh I don't feel like I know enough about where she was, the convent, but like this convent seems like sequestered from time and reality, so she doesn't know like how anything works.
• 1:10:16
SPEAKER_05: Like it's like, oh, you tip the glass and milk goes into your mouth.
• 1:10:20
  SPEAKER_05: That's so interesting.
• 1:10:22
SPEAKER_05: I've never seen something like that.
• 1:10:25
SPEAKER_05: And I think that if it was any other actress, I might have completely eviscerate it and not understand why Coop uh and then I just love how like Coop's like we're so alike, right?
• 1:10:37
SPEAKER_05: And and and I and I think it's anyone else that'd be angry, but I was like, I get it.
• 1:10:42
  SPEAKER_05: Heather Graham.
• 1:10:43
  SPEAKER_05: Like, so good casting.
• 1:10:45
SPEAKER_07: Dakota like didn't know her.
• 1:10:47
SPEAKER_07: And I was like, it's Heather Graham, and he was like, What is she from?
• 1:10:50
SPEAKER_07: And for me, she's from Austin Powers.
• 1:10:53
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so there's like I've definitely I've definitely seen her, I just couldn't place her in something else.
• 1:10:59
SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah, I remember her from Austin Powers, the second movie.
• 1:11:03
SPEAKER_07: Yeah, like I literally saw that movie and was like, I want to be that when I grow up, and it never happened, it never quite happened.
• 1:11:10
  SPEAKER_07: Um very unfortunate.
• 1:11:12
SPEAKER_02: What about what about Gordon Cole, aka David Lynch, um, and Shelly?
• 1:11:18
SPEAKER_02: Like he his so okay.
• 1:11:20
  SPEAKER_02: What?
• 1:11:21
SPEAKER_02: I can you repeat what you're saying?
• 1:11:23
SPEAKER_05: What about I'm just trying to make sure I don't know what you're talking about.
• 1:11:28
SPEAKER_06: Um he could hear her perfectly else, but uh nobody else.
• 1:11:33
SPEAKER_02: It was I love it.
• 1:11:34
SPEAKER_02: That that was that was that was I think that actually might have been a David Lynch thing that he added to the plot.
• 1:11:41
SPEAKER_02: Um because you oh you you think so?
• 1:11:45
SPEAKER_02: Well, he's he wasn't writing the show at that point, you know, like he was just acting in it.
• 1:11:49
SPEAKER_02: Um but wait, he was yeah, that that's kind of funny.
• 1:11:54
SPEAKER_06: It's like, okay, I'm not running the show, but I'll still be in it.
• 1:11:57
  SPEAKER_02: Really?
• 1:11:58
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he he basically So when he was on the show he he he quit writing and directing the show after the Leland Palmer thing.
• 1:12:05
SPEAKER_02: He is still credited as a credited, no, but he's not as a director, he's a he's credited as a producer.
• 1:12:11
  SPEAKER_07: Oh, okay.
• 1:12:12
SPEAKER_02: Um but yeah, that doesn't mean he's involved with literally every every little thing.
• 1:12:16
SPEAKER_02: But yeah, he can't he he stayed on as Gordon Cole for the remainder of of the the show.
• 1:12:22
SPEAKER_07: That scene felt like he wrote it.
• 1:12:24
  SPEAKER_02: Yes, that's what I'm saying.
• 1:12:25
SPEAKER_07: Like this, like adding this miracle of like I can only hear you, but then it kind of like goes nowhere because she stays with Bobby.
• 1:12:33
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
• 1:12:34
  SPEAKER_05: Like that's ridiculous.
• 1:12:36
  SPEAKER_05: I I hey it's love, man.
• 1:12:38
  SPEAKER_05: Like it goes nowhere.
• 1:12:39
SPEAKER_05: That's such a that was on an index card.
• 1:12:42
SPEAKER_05: He's like, what if that what if one person can hear him?
• 1:12:46
  SPEAKER_05: And that's it.
• 1:12:47
SPEAKER_05: Where does it where does it go?
• 1:12:48
  SPEAKER_05: It's like here's the thing.
• 1:12:50
SPEAKER_05: It's it's is he presents these cool ideas and then it and then someone goes, Where does it go?
• 1:12:55
SPEAKER_05: And he's like, that was one card.
• 1:12:57
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, in his mind, he's just like, Well, that was the scene.
• 1:13:00
  SPEAKER_02: That's what happens.
• 1:13:01
  SPEAKER_02: That's it.
• 1:13:01
SPEAKER_07: Sometimes you know somebody and you fall in love and they have a boyfriend and then they just stay with them.
• 1:13:06
SPEAKER_05: Or they move to Baltimore, you know.
• 1:13:08
  SPEAKER_02: Let's see.
• 1:13:08
  SPEAKER_02: Is there anything else?
• 1:13:12
  SPEAKER_02: Sorry.
• 1:13:12
SPEAKER_07: Is this like a personal thing?
• 1:13:14
  SPEAKER_07: No, it's a Peter Lazic thing.
• 1:13:16
  SPEAKER_07: So it is personal?
• 1:13:18
SPEAKER_02: Um We haven't really talked about Wyndham Earl um as a villain yet.
• 1:13:23
SPEAKER_02: I don't I'm not a huge fan of like his villain arc, but I kind of like the idea of like the prolonged chess game that they play.
• 1:13:31
SPEAKER_02: You know, like every every move is potentially a deadly one in this in this game of chess.
• 1:13:37
SPEAKER_06: He plays Yeah, yeah, I like that too.
• 1:13:39
SPEAKER_06: And then like somehow Pete was the chess master of Twin Peaks.
• 1:13:44
SPEAKER_02: I love Pete so much, man.
• 1:13:46
SPEAKER_02: Pete is such a funny character.
• 1:13:48
SPEAKER_07: Um, like how last season they had cards at like one-eye jacks, like things were like card themed, and then you have Hank who like just carries dominoes, and we never really found out why.
• 1:13:58
SPEAKER_07: And then you have like now there's chess.
• 1:14:01
SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, Hank wasn't even in Oh, because he got arrested.
• 1:14:03
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, alright.
• 1:14:05
SPEAKER_07: Um, Hank like would just have like a four and a four, and then a three and a three, and then a three and a four.
• 1:14:09
SPEAKER_02: And then he would sometimes like suck the dominoes for some reason.
• 1:14:12
SPEAKER_07: Yeah, it was just like they like games in Twin Peaks, they're big fans of games.
• 1:14:16
SPEAKER_05: I really want like I want like a villain to like not use chess.
• 1:14:20
SPEAKER_05: I want them to use like a very uncomplicated game, like he's playing Connect 4, you know, like something like that.
• 1:14:29
SPEAKER_05: Yeah, like yeah, just something real simple, you know?
• 1:14:32
SPEAKER_05: Uh it's it's always gotta be like super complicated, and and then like it got annoying because like, oh well now he's playing off the board.
• 1:14:41
SPEAKER_05: Okay, don't tell me all season that he's abiding by the board and he's off the board now.
• 1:14:48
SPEAKER_05: I I just uh you checked out.
• 1:14:50
  SPEAKER_07: You checked mate.
• 1:14:51
SPEAKER_05: I still the mistwimmed keeks guy.
• 1:14:56
SPEAKER_07: Wait, what about what about the scene where they're like raising awareness for what was it, the weasel, but then it's just a parrot, and then everybody starts freaking out, and it's literally just a parrot, like a basic household parrot.
• 1:15:08
SPEAKER_05: Excuse me, that is the pine weasel, and he's a majestic creature, all right.
• 1:15:13
SPEAKER_05: And without Billy Zane, he's basically gonna die, you know?
• 1:15:16
SPEAKER_05: Like, and I mean, obviously Billy Zane got a phone call like, yo, bro, she dropped like that necklace into the ocean.
• 1:15:22
  SPEAKER_05: He's like, I gotta go.
• 1:15:23
SPEAKER_05: Like, when are you coming back?
• 1:15:25
  SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
• 1:15:25
SPEAKER_05: Like, it's it's in the ocean, it might take 80 years.
• 1:15:28
  SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
• 1:15:30
SPEAKER_06: The whole like Ghostwood development thing wasn't really like resolved either.
• 1:15:34
SPEAKER_02: Well, there's there's so much that is not resolved.
• 1:15:37
SPEAKER_07: Well, we did get that connection with Ghostwood where it's like that's where the Black Lodge is, like, that's how you get there.
• 1:15:43
SPEAKER_07: Oh, true, and it's called spooky ghostwood.
• 1:15:45
SPEAKER_02: Occasionally there's there's some like really nice scenes in uh this season, uh, or this this half of the season.
• 1:15:52
SPEAKER_02: Like, there's not as many of these scenes as like the the David Lynch run part of the show, but like there's the there's a great scene where um Ben Horn is watching old footage of like him and his brother at the this like the opening of the Great Lodge or the Great Northern Lodge.
• 1:16:10
SPEAKER_02: It's just such a well done shot.
• 1:16:12
  SPEAKER_02: I I I I'm always kind of entranced by it.
• 1:16:15
  SPEAKER_02: And also the music.
• 1:16:16
SPEAKER_02: I don't think we talk about I don't think we've talked about the music on the podcast, but we talk about like Angelo Battalamenti um was uh a longtime collaborator with uh David Lynch and died like shortly like maybe a year or two before David Lynch.
• 1:16:35
SPEAKER_02: But yeah, I his his music for the show is so it just lulls you into a false sense of oh uh hey Siri, stop it's nine o'clock.
• 1:16:50
  SPEAKER_02: Sorry, usually it's 9 30.
• 1:16:52
SPEAKER_07: Wait, I thought I was supposed to go off at nine.
• 1:16:54
  SPEAKER_02: 9 30.
• 1:16:55
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we have like a noise machine now that like starts up at a certain time.
• 1:16:58
SPEAKER_07: It's the ocean noises that I go to sleep too.
• 1:17:01
SPEAKER_05: Does it play does it play oh my god?
• 1:17:03
  SPEAKER_05: No, it doesn't.
• 1:17:05
  SPEAKER_05: The med song?
• 1:17:06
  SPEAKER_02: No.
• 1:17:06
SPEAKER_02: Anyway, um the Twin Peaks theme specifically, and uh and is and the Laura Palmer theme and occasionally the Audrey Horn theme just kind of lull you into a false sense of like security before uh like some some craziness has to occur everything.
• 1:17:24
SPEAKER_02: You know, like there's just something that's gonna happen.
• 1:17:27
SPEAKER_02: That's just gonna be like what just happened?
• 1:17:29
SPEAKER_05: Dakota I feel like you're more attuned to things than I am in terms of this, or and maybe I'm just maybe it's my maybe it's the thing I downloaded, right?
• 1:17:38
SPEAKER_05: So I just want to ask, right?
• 1:17:40
SPEAKER_05: I find that the mixing of the song is loud and abrasive sometimes, and not like softly underlaid.
• 1:17:50
SPEAKER_05: And I don't know if it's just my version of it, but like I find that sometimes like when Laura's theme comes on, like it's it's the volume is high for me compared to like the volume of the rest of the song.
• 1:18:04
SPEAKER_02: So I I think it's played the the music is intentionally played almost like a soap opera where Okay, alright, so it is it's intentionally on a TV it sounds better.
• 1:18:19
SPEAKER_02: Like it because it's mixed for TV, it's not mixed really for like headphones where you're getting everything right there.
• 1:18:25
SPEAKER_07: You know I did kind of notice that Rick when like you were watching it on your laptop the other day.
• 1:18:30
SPEAKER_02: I I did notice it sounded so it might have been it might have been the file that you downloaded, I don't know.
• 1:18:35
SPEAKER_05: No, because you actually even said like I like I I was like oh music and you're like Laura's theme, and I was like, Yeah, I know it's Laura's theme, but why is it so abrasive?
• 1:18:43
SPEAKER_05: Like it felt like it was attacking me, yeah, but that just might be um because Johnny Depp was able to help me out and get the get the season.
• 1:18:52
  SPEAKER_07: So Johnny Depp.
• 1:18:54
SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah, did you say that that was a Johnny Depp and um Audrey, like the actress that portrayed Audrey, they were married.
• 1:19:03
SPEAKER_06: Respect that um oh yeah, what about uh earlier in this part of the season?
• 1:19:09
SPEAKER_06: Cooper is suspended by the FBI, and then we get uh Denise.
• 1:19:15
  SPEAKER_02: Oh yes.
• 1:19:17
SPEAKER_02: I I was I was I knew there was something that we were missing, something massive.
• 1:19:21
  SPEAKER_05: Um I can't remember Denise.
• 1:19:24
  SPEAKER_02: Uh uh David DeCovney.
• 1:19:26
  SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah! That's why I didn't remember.
• 1:19:29
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
• 1:19:30
SPEAKER_07: That that that part that part, like I love it so much.
• 1:19:34
  SPEAKER_02: So random.
• 1:19:35
SPEAKER_07: I love that it wasn't politically motivated, it wasn't like popular at the time.
• 1:19:39
SPEAKER_07: He wasn't trying to cater to any like specific group of people.
• 1:19:43
SPEAKER_07: He was just like, This is how I feel, like, this is what I feel like representing, and this is what I'm gonna put in it.
• 1:19:49
SPEAKER_07: And I don't know, I just thought it was really cool.
• 1:19:51
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's kind of it's an interesting character because like it wasn't a popular thing to do at the time, you know, there was there was no real trans movement at in the The early 90s, like you know, like we see today.
• 1:20:03
SPEAKER_06: What do you mean even then I don't think he was?
• 1:20:06
SPEAKER_02: No, he hadn't like modified his body or anything like that.
• 1:20:08
SPEAKER_06: It was just right dressing.
• 1:20:17
  SPEAKER_06: Right.
• 1:20:17
SPEAKER_06: But like I I I love that one line that that he says when or he meets Cooper and Audrey's like leaving uh the room and he's like, Oh, like how old is she?
• 1:20:31
SPEAKER_06: He was like, Oh, I you know, kind of like confused, like Cooper was a little confused, and he's like, Come on now, I'm just like any guy putting my my pant panties on one leg at a time.
• 1:20:43
  SPEAKER_06: Cooper's like, No, I don't.
• 1:20:46
  SPEAKER_01: No, I don't.
• 1:20:51
SPEAKER_06: There's just stuff like that, lines like that that would happen that would just have me like laughing.
• 1:20:56
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that part of the the season was funny when uh when Cooper got captured in in that house and was saved by by like the you know, like, oh here, here's some food.
• 1:21:10
SPEAKER_06: And then there happened to be a gun like down like in in the stockings.
• 1:21:17
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that that uh there it seemed like there's a lot that happened in this.
• 1:21:21
SPEAKER_06: It was like a whole other season, I'm telling you.
• 1:21:24
SPEAKER_02: It was it was like a whole other season.
• 1:21:27
SPEAKER_02: So um I think we need to uh anything we want to talk about specifically with the the ending.
• 1:21:35
SPEAKER_02: We have it was kind it's it's actually a crazy ending, you know.
• 1:21:38
SPEAKER_02: Cooper is taken over by Bob, and it ends with him crashing his face into a mirror and saying, How's Annie?
• 1:21:47
  SPEAKER_02: How's Annie?
• 1:21:48
SPEAKER_02: You know, he's like all supermanic and everything, and and that's how the show ends.
• 1:21:53
SPEAKER_02: Thoughts on that, and or the the Black Lodge sequence where he's just going like basically back and forth to the same room, but it's like different every time.
• 1:22:04
SPEAKER_06: What about this the the scene with Wyndham and Bob?
• 1:22:07
SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, I I it I think like Wyndham got his like soul burned, like like I think he's done.
• 1:22:15
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, he literally got cooked.
• 1:22:18
SPEAKER_02: He got cooked, he he flew too close to the sun to the Bob.
• 1:22:21
  SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that was crazy.
• 1:22:22
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I'm like, oh my gosh, like what is going on?
• 1:22:26
SPEAKER_06: But there was like that scene earlier where you see it's in like in the same area where the Black Lodge is, where Bob kind of like pops out for a moment and then like goes back.
• 1:22:39
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
• 1:22:40
SPEAKER_05: Again, I will still I think they're staying with the idea that Bob's Canadian because he wears the uh full denim uh all the time.
• 1:22:47
SPEAKER_05: Uh but like I think this season made Bob made more sense.
• 1:22:50
  SPEAKER_05: Like I I don't know, man.
• 1:22:51
SPEAKER_05: I feel like I'm a broken recorder when we talk about like consecutive seasons of stuff, but for me, maybe it's David Lynch leaving for a little bit.
• 1:23:00
  SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
• 1:23:01
SPEAKER_05: But uh this season I would almost like I almost wish I saw this season before the Laura season.
• 1:23:08
SPEAKER_05: Like I would like I would accept everything in Laura after this season.
• 1:23:13
SPEAKER_05: Dude, the Kawachi, the Kawachi Caves, man, like it it changes everything.
• 1:23:18
SPEAKER_05: Okay, you have a mythos, you have a lore.
• 1:23:21
SPEAKER_05: Weird things can happen, right?
• 1:23:23
SPEAKER_05: Like, okay, I agree, but like season one didn't do that, and I and then I think that this season oddly is stronger because of the the lore.
• 1:23:37
SPEAKER_02: Because now you can just embrace the crazy, you know, like also uh sorry to cut you off a little bit, but um one thing that I think you might find more charming is uh the random side quests that random you know characters go through, and that all kind of made sense episodically, and that's classic TV, you know?
• 1:24:01
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, um and I think that's why most people like who are interested in Twin Peaks don't really care about that kind of stuff because what they care about is the stuff that you don't get on TV anywhere else, you know.
• 1:24:14
  SPEAKER_02: So I it's it's one of those.
• 1:24:16
SPEAKER_02: So I I've been I've been thinking about like what we're covering next week because you both want to watch Firewalk with me.
• 1:24:22
SPEAKER_02: You both want to watch uh the return.
• 1:24:24
SPEAKER_02: So instead of breaking up the return uh nine episodes and nine episodes, we'll do Firewalk with me and then watch the first eight episodes of The Return.
• 1:24:34
SPEAKER_02: And I think that that's actually a better breaking point because the eighth episode is the episode of all episodes.
• 1:24:41
  SPEAKER_02: Gotta lie.
• 1:24:42
  SPEAKER_07: Okay, yeah.
• 1:24:42
  SPEAKER_07: That is like it.
• 1:24:43
SPEAKER_07: I was thinking like, is it that one?
• 1:24:45
SPEAKER_07: That is a crazy episode.
• 1:24:46
SPEAKER_02: It is uh widely considered one of the greatest episodes of TV ever made.
• 1:24:52
SPEAKER_07: Why do you like you should just let them embrace it though?
• 1:24:54
SPEAKER_07: Like you're giving them too much.
• 1:24:56
  SPEAKER_02: I know.
• 1:24:56
SPEAKER_02: It's just it's just so it is.
• 1:24:59
  SPEAKER_02: No, no, no.
• 1:24:59
  SPEAKER_06: No, I mean I think that's that's good enough.
• 1:25:02
SPEAKER_06: And I'm actually glad that Dakota said that.
• 1:25:04
SPEAKER_06: Just because of like Rich's interaction with this show has been honestly just as funny as the show for me.
• 1:25:13
SPEAKER_06: It's like it's been it's like part of the experience.
• 1:25:17
  SPEAKER_02: It really is.
• 1:25:18
SPEAKER_02: Um, and we're we're happy to to have have you, Rich.
• 1:25:21
SPEAKER_02: I I hope you don't feel like we're like we're not joking at your expect like at your expense.
• 1:25:27
SPEAKER_02: It is it is important that like there is the guy that doesn't really like everything, you know?
• 1:25:34
  SPEAKER_02: Sometimes I'm that guy.
• 1:25:35
SPEAKER_02: Sometimes Anthony's this might be Yeah, yeah.
• 1:25:38
SPEAKER_05: This might be a shock to you, but if in the course of my 43 years, I I have accepted the fact that sometimes people find enjoyment in my anger, and it's okay.
• 1:25:48
  SPEAKER_05: And I've uh it's I have embraced it.
• 1:25:51
  SPEAKER_05: I'm honestly like it's fine.
• 1:25:52
SPEAKER_06: It's just rage baiting is rage baiting is fun.
• 1:25:57
  SPEAKER_05: I get I get rage baited.
• 1:25:59
SPEAKER_05: I mean, Jen can tell you this.
• 1:26:01
SPEAKER_05: She taught with me, right?
• 1:26:03
SPEAKER_05: Like, yes, you would think that after 17 years in a classroom, I'd be able to see it coming.
• 1:26:09
  SPEAKER_05: And I don't.
• 1:26:10
  SPEAKER_05: I I fall for it.
• 1:26:12
SPEAKER_05: Hook line and sinker every time.
• 1:26:15
SPEAKER_05: And uh it could be the same rage bait, and I'll fall for it the same way every time.
• 1:26:20
SPEAKER_05: So uh I'm fine with it, you know.
• 1:26:22
SPEAKER_05: Uh let's just uh let's just brace the fallout, you know.
• 1:26:25
SPEAKER_05: I'll I'll watch Firewalk with me, I'll watch eight episodes, I'll watch seven ep seven seasons of Sopranos by next week.
• 1:26:32
  SPEAKER_05: Oh god.
• 1:26:33
  SPEAKER_05: Uh let's go.
• 1:26:34
  SPEAKER_06: Oh, we know that.
• 1:26:35
SPEAKER_05: You guys don't yeah, oh Gabaghool, baby.
• 1:26:38
  SPEAKER_05: All right, let's go.
• 1:26:38
SPEAKER_02: All right, so uh episode 150.
• 1:26:41
  SPEAKER_02: It it's we're there's gonna be a lot.
• 1:26:43
SPEAKER_02: Firewalk with me, the film.
• 1:26:45
SPEAKER_02: Uh it's on HBO Max, right, Anthony?
• 1:26:48
SPEAKER_02: You said it was on HBO Max.
• 1:26:50
SPEAKER_02: Or uh uh Or The Island of the Black Pearl, the the High Seas, um and the first eight episodes of Twin Peaks, the return.
• 1:27:01
SPEAKER_02: Um, and I will give you guys just uh it starts very different from Twin Peaks.
• 1:27:11
SPEAKER_02: The return doesn't start like you think it's gonna start.
• 1:27:15
SPEAKER_03: But remember, Laura Palmer says, I will see you in 25 years.
• 1:27:22
SPEAKER_06: Yes, I remember that, yeah.
• 1:27:24
SPEAKER_02: They literally made the show 25 years later, you know?
• 1:27:28
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that I I was I was thinking that.
• 1:27:30
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, like what when she said that I was like, wait a second, isn't the isn't the the like revival show like 25 years later?
• 1:27:38
  SPEAKER_02: Yep, yeah.
• 1:27:39
SPEAKER_02: They they did a really it's it's actually really cool the way that it all lined up that way.
• 1:27:44
SPEAKER_07: I'm so excited for Dougie.
• 1:27:46
  SPEAKER_07: I'm so excited.
• 1:27:48
  SPEAKER_07: Duckie.
• 1:27:48
  SPEAKER_07: Dougie.
• 1:27:49
  SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, Dougie.
• 1:27:50
  SPEAKER_02: Yes.
• 1:27:50
  SPEAKER_02: Alright.
• 1:27:51
SPEAKER_02: No, no, no more spoilers.
• 1:27:53
SPEAKER_02: Um uh Rich, I'm sorry, in advance.
• 1:27:56
SPEAKER_05: Uh I'm just telling I'm just putting it out there.
• 1:27:59
SPEAKER_06: I'm gonna thank you in advance, Dakota.
• 1:28:02
SPEAKER_05: Right before baseball season starts, we are watching Major League.
• 1:28:06
  SPEAKER_05: There are no debates.
• 1:28:08
  SPEAKER_05: Alright.
• 1:28:08
  SPEAKER_05: It's gonna be fantastic.
• 1:28:10
  SPEAKER_05: I can't wait.
• 1:28:11
SPEAKER_05: But uh I will uh as as I look, it's the same thing I do here at home, okay?
• 1:28:17
  SPEAKER_05: I embrace the offseason.
• 1:28:19
SPEAKER_05: What do you want to do, Lauren?
• 1:28:21
  SPEAKER_05: Whatever you want.
• 1:28:22
  SPEAKER_05: It's not baseball season.
• 1:28:24
  SPEAKER_05: You got me.
• 1:28:24
  SPEAKER_05: Alright, so let's go.
• 1:28:26
  SPEAKER_05: Let's go.
• 1:28:26
SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna burn I'm gonna burn this to the ground.
