- 0:00Welcome to Healthy, Happy, Wise, Wealthy, the podcast where we talk about everything
- 0:04about healthy, happy, wise, wealthy, living from cradle to
- 0:08grave. I'm your host, Mary Meyer. There was a lot to learn with
- 0:11Kara and Brittany on the topics of detox and vitality. So this is
- 0:15split into two episodes. Make sure you catch both. Yeah.
- 0:19Before we move on from here though, because I could have said this
- 0:22sooner about other systems, but liver, it's like I can't
- 0:26move on from that without mentioning. And you got to deal with the anger in
- 0:30your life. Yes. You know, in traditional Chinese
- 0:33medicine, which I've studied more traditional Chinese medicine,
- 0:37Ayurvedic medicine. So a lot of these Eastern
- 0:40medicines, so these are ancient ways
- 0:44of practicing medicine that are still practiced today, like
- 0:47Ayurveda 5000 plus years old, traditional Chinese medicine
- 0:512000 plus. So these, these practices have been around for so
- 0:55long and, and one there. I like to explain to people, it's just
- 0:59a different looking at the body and the remedies that
- 1:02are offered are different. And I really align with both of
- 1:06those systems. And
- 1:10in traditional Chinese medicine, they.
- 1:13100% of the time you're going to be talking about the emotions
- 1:17and what's going on in your life and you know what's troubling you. And
- 1:21the. Each major organ
- 1:25frequency wise correlates with a frequency of an
- 1:28emotion. So if you've got
- 1:32liver congestion, anger is the
- 1:36emotion that resonates with this little lady of the
- 1:40liver. Resentment is the
- 1:43gallbladder. Anxiety is more in the tummy,
- 1:47fear in the kidneys. I could keep going on grief in the
- 1:50lungs, but it's so important. Important that
- 1:54you can't overlook those emotional pieces and only focus
- 1:58on the physical detox. You could physical detox yourself all
- 2:02day long. And if you're sitting there red hot with a bunch of
- 2:05anger that's unexpressed, you're probably not going to get that
- 2:09liver up and running because you got to deal with the emotional
- 2:12energy that the liver is holding and being congested by.
- 2:16And the other way to think of the liver is it's this
- 2:20beautiful organ that filters through
- 2:23everything that we ask of our bodies, including
- 2:27our emotion. So if you're having a
- 2:31very emotional day,
- 2:34your liver is working on that emotion
- 2:38as well. As if you have a Diet Coke and walk
- 2:42through the aisle of chemicals in the supermarket and
- 2:46walk outside and talk on yourself. I mean, like ev,
- 2:49we, the exposure that we have to toxins is
- 2:53more than our bodies are made to tolerate and deal with because our
- 2:57bodies are freaking brilliant.
- 3:01We are Made to heal. We are literally designed
- 3:05to deal with things. But the problem is we
- 3:08again have grown away from this understanding, understanding of our beautiful
- 3:12bodies and our beautiful earth and the way that it's made as you know,
- 3:16the macro and the micro and all these systems that work
- 3:20beautifully when you give them what they need and you treat them how they want
- 3:23to be treated. And so when we disregard that
- 3:27and we have, there's just too much
- 3:31to deal with. Our systems are over loaded. You
- 3:35know, one of my mentors like, stuff say it's like a lot,
- 3:38it is a lot of work to be healthy in modern society.
- 3:42It is. Yeah. Yes. And you can't, you can't be
- 3:46perfect. I mean, that's, that's the thing. Like we, we can't
- 3:50escape the toxins. We cannot be perfect. So
- 3:54I always tell people to, you know, do the best you can. And if I'm
- 3:57rattling off 10 things for you to do, pick one or two to start with.
- 4:01Because when it's completely overwhelming and
- 4:05you, you simply cannot do it all. I mean, I didn't.
- 4:08I have like, I think I mentioned I've always been on this journey of
- 4:15some piece of emotional healing probably since I was,
- 4:18I don't even. I was very small. Um, but
- 4:22a couple years ago, it's probably been three years ago now when I
- 4:26really, I, I started working with a mentor
- 4:29to really heal some of my
- 4:33core wounds at a deeper level. And
- 4:38the first couple months of diving into that,
- 4:42I was physically ill the entire time
- 4:47because of all the emotions I was stirring
- 4:50up and getting rid of. And this was not a new journey
- 4:54to me at all. Wow. Yeah. The number
- 4:58of times that I have clients who are like, I
- 5:02literally, this happened and I physically threw up and I
- 5:05wasn't sick. It just like my body rejected that because once you start
- 5:09understanding the way emotions actually impact your body,
- 5:13you'll start recognizing like there,
- 5:16there's this direct correlation. And, and the beauty
- 5:20is when we deal with our emotions as we're living our
- 5:23lives, which is the way we're made, we're made to
- 5:27have emotion. We are human beings and we are given
- 5:31these emotions. And when we befriend them and we
- 5:35understand what they're trying to tell us, they're gifts.
- 5:39They're not always, it's not always fun to feel every emotion. But
- 5:43the, the gamut of emotions is what, you know, gives us
- 5:46information in our lives. Even symptoms that you're having,
- 5:51those are gifts. Those are a sign to. Hey,
- 5:54pause. I'm trying to tell you something.
- 5:58Yes. Something is not right. Will you please listen to me? I
- 6:01mean, I, I'll take this. My, you know, myself, for instance.
- 6:06You know, we were talking about estrogen dominance, and if we're not
- 6:10having daily bowel movements. I remember years ago,
- 6:14periods unbelievably
- 6:17heavy. I mean, I was
- 6:21ridiculously heavy and
- 6:25looking at. And I had ovarian cysts. And so I was
- 6:29dealing with the pain of that heavy periods. I was exhausted all the time,
- 6:32could not, you know, you'd barely catch up and
- 6:36be able to begin to function. And I, I'd start again.
- 6:40And I, you know, again, in the traditional
- 6:44system, went to the OB gyn. They tell me, you know,
- 6:48we can do birth control, you can have an
- 6:51ablation or hysterectomy.
- 6:55And I really didn't want any of those things. But at the time, I didn't.
- 6:59Didn't know better. And no one asked me, are
- 7:03you having daily bowel movements? Well,
- 7:06no. I had been constipated my entire life. I lived
- 7:10off of laxatives. And now
- 7:14I know better. Like, I, why are we constipated?
- 7:18And senna or some stool softener is not the
- 7:22answer. Why is this happening?
- 7:27So, you know, it just. We need to be
- 7:31having. We. We need to be able. Be able to have daily bowel
- 7:34movements. But just taking laxative does not
- 7:38solve the problem. Not even an herbal one. No,
- 7:42it's not the underlying reason. And all the things that
- 7:46are going on because you're not having a regular bowel movement. And it's funny
- 7:49that we're coming to this one last, because really, this is the center. This is
- 7:53the first thing you got to look at. Like, yeah, we look at all the
- 7:56pathways and are the pathways open? But if you're
- 8:00not having bowel movements, that's
- 8:04where you gotta start. Your gut is the center of your
- 8:07health. Yeah. And your liver is part of that digestive system,
- 8:11by the way. So we've gotten a little work hand in hand. So if one's
- 8:15off, the other is going to probably be off as well. Yeah, there
- 8:18are two. So, so what do you do? What do you do if. What do
- 8:22you tell people to do if they're just, you know, not having daily bowel
- 8:26movements? What's the, what's the protocol remedy? I mean, you want
- 8:30to, you want to start having daily bowel movements. So if someone
- 8:34is taking laxatives, I would probably switch them
- 8:37to something more natural to begin with,
- 8:41encourage them to have more fiber. What's their water intake,
- 8:45you know, the basic things that we can do.
- 8:48But then I'm also going to ask them to do some type of
- 8:52stool test, and we're going to look at your gut microbiome, and
- 8:56we're going to see what exactly is going on in there. And then we
- 9:00want to create a detox or a
- 9:03protocol to resolve that underlying issue.
- 9:07But, you know, a lot of things are recurrent. We can.
- 9:11We can do something temporarily, but if you go back to the old
- 9:14patterns, if you go back to the old ways, it's
- 9:18going to reoccur. So it's really about creating a
- 9:21lifestyle that is conducive to health
- 9:26in the long run. Yeah. And I would add to
- 9:30that, you know, that's why, aside from, like,
- 9:33each detox pathway that we're talking about, one of the
- 9:37hacks to detox your body is to
- 9:41choose a lifestyle where you are exposed
- 9:44to less toxins, you know, and
- 9:49to try to start learning about where you can. And I
- 9:52feel like we could do an entirely additional podcast about
- 9:56this, and we should. Yes. Like what? Like, in your
- 10:00whole. Like, your whole life. Your whole life and
- 10:03your whole life, including your emotional,
- 10:07relational life, like, what does it look like to
- 10:11limit toxicity? Because, like, as we mentioned, you
- 10:15can't avoid it, but there are things you can control.
- 10:19And so if you do take control, you know, with
- 10:25plastics coming in or, you know, how much chemicals are you bringing
- 10:29in, you know, you've got to look at your makeup and your body products
- 10:32and your food and your water and your air. Like,
- 10:36yeah, there's so much. And that's why I'm saying we could do a
- 10:40completely. A different. It's a
- 10:44whole nother topic. But you just started one
- 10:47spot, one bone. You just. Like, for me growing up,
- 10:52you know, I actually like cleaning. Like, I don't mind cleaning. It's like,
- 10:56I find some pure joy and satisfaction in getting the job done, I
- 10:59guess. But I just would die when it was my job
- 11:03to, like, clean the bathroom, especially, like, the tub,
- 11:07I would just feel so terrible. And it was years
- 11:11later and probably in my 20s, when I realized how
- 11:14extremely sensitive I was to all those chemical
- 11:18smells. Like, I will not touch Clorox.
- 11:22Nobody wants me to do so with a Clorox wipe. I'm like, I'm sorry. Because
- 11:26I'll smell it on my hands and it'll give me a headache for as long
- 11:29as you. And you can smell it for, like, days. And it's absorbing into your
- 11:32system. Absorbing into your system. And there's
- 11:36just. Yeah, like I said, like, really looking at
- 11:39Limiting, you know, toxicity, including
- 11:43toxins, toxic people, you know, really
- 11:47looking at what am I consuming and
- 11:50digesting every day.
- 11:55And. And again, this is not always
- 11:58intuitive. It's why you need, like,
- 12:01that's why people will guide you through this, because it feels like this
- 12:05mountain to climb. And it is. It's a lot.
- 12:09And like, for me, I made changes over
- 12:12decades, and I feel like I'm still learning a little
- 12:16something and making a little change. You know, I'll be like, I didn't know about
- 12:19that and make a little change.
- 12:23But it's. It. You. You can't let it overwhelm you. You have
- 12:26to just start anywhere. Yeah. Right. Pick
- 12:30one thing. As soon as you run out of something, like, make a healthier swap.
- 12:34Yes. It can be as simple as that. Well, and I think people
- 12:38just are. So I'm a little bit always surprised
- 12:42at how unaware people are of what they're putting in their
- 12:46body, of how much work it is for your body to
- 12:49detox what they're putting in. And we're so conditioned.
- 12:53I mean, like. I mean, we're just greenwashed. We
- 12:57think that if it has a clean label, then
- 13:00it's. It's okay. It's painful.
- 13:04Yeah. But I mean, they're so good at tricky and t.
- 13:08They are. Yeah. And that's sad that that makes it very,
- 13:12very frustrating for the average person that is trying to
- 13:16do better and.
- 13:19No. And then just even coming back around to this idea of the
- 13:23amount of people that are unaware. And again, I think that's part of this,
- 13:28like, get people disconnected from their bodies. Get people
- 13:32disconnected from the earth. Right. And
- 13:36they're. They're just not as
- 13:40savvy. You know, the more you are tuned in with your
- 13:44body and you start recognizing when, like, oh,
- 13:48man, I had that piece of birthday cake. And I feel
- 13:51terrible because your body's not made to deal with that much sugar.
- 13:56Chemicals or chemicals depending on. Even if it
- 13:59weren't eating organic almond flour
- 14:03cake, you know, it's like your body's not made to deal with that amount
- 14:07of sugar. And again, I'm not saying don't ever have the cake,
- 14:10girl. Have the cake. Like, sometimes you gotta have the cake, but
- 14:14there's moderation. You know, just even thinking about,
- 14:18like. Timing, like eating the cake at the end after you've
- 14:22eaten your protein and your fiber. Yep. Versus your blood sugar
- 14:25doesn't first. So I am
- 14:29curious if we could go back to sweating
- 14:33as a detox pathway or your skin as a detox pathway. Because I think we
- 14:37I'd like a little bit more information on that. If someone doesn't have
- 14:40a sauna. And then I'd love to kind of go. I know,
- 14:44Brittany, your website is about vitality, so maybe we can talk about
- 14:48just normal people living in this world and how we can. What do we do
- 14:52every day to just live a life where we're. We are being
- 14:55healthy in this world that really is not healthy. That's so hard to be
- 14:59healthy. And then we'll talk a little bit about what you guys are doing
- 15:02to. To work together, so. But
- 15:06sweating. I know I have an infrared sauna. I think, Kara, that was one of
- 15:10the things you had recommended to me initially when I was, you know, dealing with
- 15:13limes, and it was. It was powerful. I think I had not. That was part
- 15:17of the sickness. I don't know what it was with that, but I don't think
- 15:20I had done much sweating for, let's say, 14,
- 15:2415 years at that point. Yeah. This is a long time for your
- 15:28body to not have that detox pathway. Yeah. So
- 15:32I do not have a sauna. I would like one, but I do not have
- 15:35one. So
- 15:39exercise. Okay. Exercise can be a good way.
- 15:42I will take a hot bath and sweat
- 15:46in the bath. I mean, I like it hot, and I turn the
- 15:50heat on in the bath, and I literally
- 15:54lay in the water and sweat. Do you, like, you have a heater outside the
- 15:57tub that's blowing on YouTube? Is that what you mean? Okay, yeah, yeah, we have
- 16:01one in our wall. But if you didn't have one built in the wall,
- 16:05you know, just a tiny little portable heater you could turn on
- 16:09in your bathroom. And, you know, in a closed space. Far away from the
- 16:12water. Yes, far away from the water. I put some Epsom
- 16:16salt and some. Mineral
- 16:20salts. Yeah. Baking soda. Baking
- 16:23soda, bentonite, clay. You can add
- 16:27some essential oils. You know, little hack with
- 16:31essential oils, always mix them into your salts.
- 16:34If you just put them into the water. You know, oil and water, they don't
- 16:38mix. But if you take the essential oil and mix it
- 16:41into the salt, it'll dissolve more easily
- 16:45into your bath. Good hack. Yeah. Yeah.
- 16:49Well, I'm also, if you guys want to say anything about athletic clothes. I know,
- 16:53like, I was doing hot yoga forever and then realized that I might have been
- 16:57absorbing more toxins through my skin as I me and my.
- 17:00Toxic leggings right now. Yeah,
- 17:04yeah. I mean, this is, like, an area for
- 17:08me that it's on my radar, and
- 17:12I haven't been able to implement, like, the Big change yet.
- 17:16But there are some companies that are promoting
- 17:20clean activewear. I have not made that swap either.
- 17:23In fact, I was just telling Cara that I probably needed to do that.
- 17:28But it's something that I know of. They have organic cotton, everything
- 17:32from little dresses to, you know.
- 17:36That'S a switch I'm trying to make right now. I think it's because I. I
- 17:40forever wore leggings. And then they got
- 17:43to an even worse chemical that I was wearing for a while, while I was
- 17:47going to hot yoga. And I feel like I'm. I need,
- 17:50you know, like, all the levels I need to detox from that, but
- 17:55probably haven't yet. So watch your athletic wear as
- 17:58you work out and sweat and even. I mean, even your. Your bras and
- 18:02underwear. I was going to say that, too. And especially, like, if anyone
- 18:05uses period panties for the ladies out there, you
- 18:09know, get. Organic cotton. Linen is another really great
- 18:13fabric. Like the frequency of real
- 18:16fabrics. Yeah, right. And the more flowy. I mean, is going
- 18:20to improve your frequency instead of being restrictive.
- 18:24Yeah. Even though, man, I'm
- 18:27telling you, decades wearing leggings, you know, like, I'm
- 18:31going to work out whether I'm going to work out or not, so. Yeah, well.
- 18:35And one of the things that I really think is important on the emotional side
- 18:38of things, like I just said, I'm very aware of that. And, like, I
- 18:42have implemented it, like, with, you know,
- 18:46definitely, like, any products that I use, you know, for
- 18:50cycling, menstruals. It's. It's all stuff, like,
- 18:55we absorb a lot in that area, so we want to be using
- 18:58organic cotton. I've made those changes, but
- 19:02in my entire wardrobe, that feels overwhelming. So
- 19:06I don't let myself live in fear. I don't go, oh,
- 19:10my gosh, I'm being exposed to all these things, and I just don't want anyone
- 19:13to be. Out there thinking, like, I am doing. All these things
- 19:17because. Yeah. And now you have some awareness.
- 19:20And if you can gently walk yourself into the
- 19:24thing that feels the easiest to change, you know, one little thing,
- 19:28maybe you just start doing this little pump because it doesn't cost anything. So you
- 19:31do a little lymph pump. Yeah. And let me say, anyone
- 19:35who's just listening, Kara's crossing her hands, using the two
- 19:38fingers on her, you know, index finger, middle finger,
- 19:42and doing, like, the little pump sensation right above the collarbone,
- 19:46basically with your hands crossed. Yeah. The best thing is just to look
- 19:49on YouTube and find. Look on YouTube and find.
- 19:53Or just watch this on YouTube. There's even
- 19:57more that you can do, you know, you can. After you open
- 20:00that area, you can then pull down the lymph and I'll do my face
- 20:04also, you know, and just like getting things. Because I had a
- 20:08head trauma, so I got a lot of congestion in my lymph. And
- 20:12so I'm always trying to get things to move, you know.
- 20:17But yeah, I think it's important to be really gentle and easy with
- 20:20yourself as you make positive changes and find
- 20:24the thing that feels like, okay, that vibration plate sounded
- 20:28interesting or you know, I can go on a walk or
- 20:33you know, whatever it is that felt like a
- 20:37low hanging fruit. Start there, celebrate. Feel so
- 20:41good about what you're doing and just keep making small changes. Get yourself
- 20:44in a community where people are talking about, you know,
- 20:48awareness and. Yeah, a little cleaner. Yeah,
- 20:52yeah. I think you, you really touched on something very important
- 20:55is not living in fear.
- 20:59I think that's huge in regards to
- 21:03all the things, health, wellness and vitality.
- 21:08Because fear is, I mean it just sabotages
- 21:13every aspect of you. So whether you're wanting
- 21:16to detox physically or
- 21:20emotionally and it becomes overwhelming,
- 21:24overwhelming and you're, you're
- 21:27fearful that you're exposed to all of this stuff.
- 21:31I mean, just pause
- 21:35because it's not something to be. Yes, it can be,
- 21:40it can be scary because we can't get away from it.
- 21:45But, but the point is like, don't let that overwhelm
- 21:48you. Don't let that take over. Realize that you are
- 21:52working towards. Yeah. Be empowered by the knowledge. By
- 21:56it. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. And we definitely need to do
- 22:00another more, maybe more than one conversation about all the things we're talking
- 22:03about that you're probably are putting self. You're doing it
- 22:07to yourself. You're doing it to yourself when you expose yourself to a lot of
- 22:10different things and you don't know it. So I think on this, on this
- 22:14path, I think it is so hard to go. I cannot believe. Like, remember one
- 22:18of the first things you taught me, Cara, was like, the mercury in my mouth
- 22:21is probably causing. It's going to stop me from healing. And that was one of
- 22:24the first things I did is have that taken out. What a bad idea to
- 22:28put a neurotoxin in your head. But you know, that's what they've been doing.
- 22:32So. Yeah, I mean it doesn't make a lot of, there's not a lot of
- 22:35common sense in that. But it is what is done in my mind
- 22:38anyway. So as we look at every little thing,
- 22:42polyester clothing is made of plastic or, you know, and, and,
- 22:46you know, chemicals and petrochemicals, so maybe we
- 22:50remove some of those. But every little thing you learn also causes
- 22:53a distress,
- 22:57you know, because then you're like, oh, shoot, these people I love also are
- 23:01exposing themselves to it. And are we going to be the person that walks around
- 23:05slapping drinks out of people's hands because they shouldn't be having that, or
- 23:09food and. No. Wouldn't that be fun, though? I mean, we. I mean, that would
- 23:12be kind of fun. Not gonna be. I have done that before, but
- 23:16I know. I mean, I never,
- 23:20I never flinch, you know, watching people putting stuff in their bodies that I
- 23:24know is going to be harmful. Never flinch. But I'm sad.
- 23:27I talk about it. And one of the things that I have learned, and this
- 23:31is true both emotionally and physically, I cannot let
- 23:35myself care more about someone's health or wellness
- 23:38than. Than they do. So. And in fact, I
- 23:42don't. I have learned that unless
- 23:45someone asks me, you know, I. I don't share the
- 23:49information unless someone expresses interest, because
- 23:53on the contrary, I find people feel pretty defensive.
- 23:57And I don't know if that's the fear of, like, oh, I can't afford it,
- 24:00or I don't want to make the changes, or. I think we've been taught that
- 24:04things like we can. That instant gratification. And so
- 24:08if there's something that feels like a lot of effort, it just feels
- 24:11like, do I really need to do that? Like, there's just this,
- 24:15I don't know, cultural way of thinking that is not restrained, responsible,
- 24:19or taking ownership for the knowledge that's out there
- 24:24and it's been perpetuated. I mean, we've. We've
- 24:28been taught to think like that. So I can't fault someone for
- 24:32thinking like that. But I. I am
- 24:36here to help you, you know, I'm like, I am here to help you,
- 24:39you know, and even I want to just mention that, you know, we've talked about
- 24:43the overlap of emotions in the body, but even
- 24:47detoxing emotions from your body,
- 24:51meaning in your lifetime.
- 24:55And this is a lot of the work that I do with people. In your
- 24:57lifetime, you've had all these experiences. You've had
- 25:01moments of trauma, you've had moments of fear. You've had,
- 25:04you know, just different interactions. You've had
- 25:08seasons of grief. Maybe you've had some
- 25:11really hard things happen, and you've been in a season of grief and
- 25:15then had to get back to work and function. And so
- 25:19emotions are locked into
- 25:22our energetic field and our
- 25:26Body, the matter that's in this field. And so when we
- 25:30talk about, like, looking at our body
- 25:34and considering what are some of the programs
- 25:38that are locked into me, and as we loosen
- 25:41those up and let them go or give space for
- 25:45feeling the things that we've been through in a
- 25:49really nurturing and gentle way with
- 25:53guidance and support, it's just really amazing
- 25:56how we can change the experience of
- 26:00our. Of our life and feel more alive and
- 26:04vital to segue into this vitality
- 26:07that you want to talk about. I think if we're carrying around a lot of
- 26:11stuffed emotion, which, again, we've talked about this, you kind of stuff it.
- 26:15Those symptoms and keep moving. It's the same way with emotions. We stuff them and
- 26:19keep showing up and keep having our bright, happy face on
- 26:23or our stone face, whatever way you show up. And
- 26:27we're holding things that need to be felt.
- 26:31So I just think that, you know, it's just.
- 26:35It's so important to keep these things in balance, the physical and the
- 26:38emotional both. And. Yeah.
- 26:43Brittany, what are your thoughts on vitality? I know you talk about it so much.
- 26:47It's all over your website.
- 26:51That kind of came. Came about when I was working with one of my
- 26:55mentors. She's like, well, you're the vitality queen. And like, you're
- 26:59right. That is really, like,
- 27:02that's. That's what I want. I think because I was in.
- 27:07I mean, Kara can identify
- 27:11growing up and then all the things that happened in my
- 27:14life in my 20s and my 30s. I have
- 27:18been on a perpetual cycle of survival.
- 27:23And when my health got to the point
- 27:27multiple times that I couldn't
- 27:31function and digging myself out of that,
- 27:36I really realized that I was not
- 27:39alone on this island. There were other
- 27:43people other than Kara and myself that were going through the same things.
- 27:48And, you know, they didn't have answers. They didn't have someone to
- 27:51listen to them. They didn't have guidance. And I
- 27:55wanted. I wanted to be that person for. For all the
- 27:59women. And I mean, I've worked with men too, but all the women
- 28:02that could identify with this feeling
- 28:06of hopelessness and helplessness and
- 28:09wanting to. To live and thrive and be their
- 28:13best version of themselves yet, they're barely hanging on.
- 28:18And so my work as a functional
- 28:21medicine nurse practitioner, trying to find, you know, what's really
- 28:25happening in their body, that
- 28:29was the starting place of
- 28:32renewing their vitality.
- 28:36But knowing that emotions are the
- 28:40big key. You
- 28:43gotta have. You gotta have both sides, sides. And
- 28:47so, you know, I probably thought about
- 28:50it, but not real consciously. And then when the
- 28:54whole picture of one of my programs is
- 28:58called Vital Clarity, the Vital Clarity experience.
- 29:02And it's a six month program where we dive into
- 29:06not only, you know, just your labs, but we,
- 29:09you know, do more functional labs and come up with
- 29:13the physical things that we need to fix. I knew I
- 29:17needed Cara in that emotional
- 29:20aspect to help the person
- 29:24on the. It's a scale you gotta have, you gotta. Well, you gotta be
- 29:27balanced. Yeah. And, and so that, that was just like the missing
- 29:31piece of, like, of the Vital Clarity experience. Like, we, we have to do
- 29:35this together. Because I was like, oh my gosh, we've been
- 29:38together. Been. We've been together since five.
- 29:42And, you know. Twins. Yes. We used
- 29:46to climb up on the monkey bars in kindergarten at recess. Like,
- 29:49our activity was to climb up on the monkey bars and plan our twin outfits
- 29:53for the next day. Oh, that's so funny. By the way. We had no
- 29:57clothes that looked anything like one another, but we felt like twins. We
- 30:00did not look like twins at all, but we were still sisters. So there you
- 30:04have it. I love it. Oh my gosh. I feel
- 30:08like I, you guys are saying vitality has a lot to do with
- 30:11emotional understanding your emotional state and
- 30:15why you feel the way you do, and then opening up
- 30:18detox pathways. And that might be the first couple steps
- 30:21in. Yeah, I mean, you have to be realistic. I, you
- 30:25know, I, I, we talked about quick fixes multiple times
- 30:30and. Takes time. It takes time. It
- 30:33takes time physically, it takes time emotionally.
- 30:37And I don't think we ever get to the end.
- 30:41It's a, it's about, it's about becoming. I mean, Kara mentioned that,
- 30:45you know, she's an author. I just recently was published as well.
- 30:49And one of the, one of the things that I mentioned,
- 30:54one of my taglines is be exquisitely you. And
- 30:57that was something that I didn't even really fully understand what
- 31:01that line meant for many years. It was just
- 31:05a brand that I decided that I liked. But it, like, it's
- 31:09been a becoming of me. Like, what does that mean to me? And that's what
- 31:12I want for every woman out there. I want them to be the
- 31:16most exquisite, most vibrant person there is
- 31:20in their own bodies. I want them to love themselves. I want them to be
- 31:24free, full of joy, and just
- 31:27radiate all the goodness that they have to offer
- 31:31instead of just barely getting by. So that is, and
- 31:35that's part of the partnership that we both do
- 31:39that with our people. Like, that's what we Both individually
- 31:42have been doing from different angles and you know,
- 31:46joined together, it's like this powerhouse combo where it's
- 31:50like, let's get you healthy on the inside in your
- 31:54physical body and let's do the work of looking at
- 31:58social programming, family programming, inner child
- 32:01wounding, nervous system regulation,
- 32:04befriending your emotions. Like if you want to
- 32:08live your life, you have to look at
- 32:12some of those hard things because when.
- 32:15And it's in it and it can be a challenge. Like that's why I
- 32:19encourage people get support. You're trying to do these things.
- 32:23Like it, it is much easier when you have support,
- 32:26but it's, it can be hard to go
- 32:30into these spaces. But when you've unearthed
- 32:35what's under them and the opening and the expansion, it's like that
- 32:39contraction of going in and then comes the expansion of the
- 32:43life afterwards that you're able to live
- 32:46because you've created this space through the healing.
- 32:50Yes. And that happens physically, that happens emotionally. And
- 32:54when you get both of those on track, you know,
- 32:57and you're, and you're working through those things,
- 33:02your life is gonna be better. You're gonna be able to show
- 33:05up and live your life and feel more alive and
- 33:09bring whatever it is that you're here to bring and love your people better
- 33:13and love yourself better and just all those really yummy things.
- 33:17For sure. Yeah. And I feel like I have in mind, like
- 33:21this is for men too. I know we're talking as women and we talk about
- 33:24women issues because we're women and that makes sense. I mean, men go through the
- 33:27same thing. They have these same. I definitely
- 33:31work with male clients. My, my client population is
- 33:35more female, but I always have several
- 33:39men on, you know, my docket. And I love working with guys and
- 33:42I feel like when guys decide that they want to do the
- 33:46emotional work, they,
- 33:50it's so powerful. And they seem to be
- 33:54able to straight because they are more linear. They're able to straight
- 33:57line changes, make changes, and it's
- 34:01like they can move through things in a different way. And if
- 34:05they want to do the work, it makes huge impact. And,
- 34:09and it's beautiful. And as women, we want you to be
- 34:13in, in, you know, touch with your emotions. So
- 34:17no, society tells you that don't feel emotions and that's
- 34:20not manly or whatever it is that maybe our
- 34:24generations and older have said and maybe it isn't as common, but
- 34:28yeah, getting, get in, get in touch with your emotions. You'll
- 34:32be healthier. Absolutely. For sure. Yeah.
- 34:35Well, and it makes it Easier to be a truly masculine man
- 34:39holding the space of the beautiful, you know,
- 34:44sacred masculine. When you are in touch
- 34:47with those emotions and in a healthy body.
- 34:51Yeah. In a healthy body, yeah. So tell
- 34:54us, tell me about the stuff you guys are going to be doing together. I
- 34:57know it's kind of in progress, but give me a little
- 35:02bit, A little rundown. Yeah,
- 35:06I mean, I kind of, I kind of touched on it, but yeah, it.
- 35:10Currently. Yeah, we are,
- 35:14we have the, the. I have so many vital programs.
- 35:20We have vitality calls. We have. Yeah, I probably
- 35:24overdid it on the, the term vitality. Yeah. What
- 35:28is. Okay, so tell me the name of the program again. The Vital Clarity Experience.
- 35:32The Vital Clarity Experience. Yes. Yes. Lovely.
- 35:36Yeah. And that includes, like she was saying, labs
- 35:40and individual care with Britney and then
- 35:44a group component with me with the opportunity
- 35:47to work individually if desired. Yep.
- 35:51So this is something that isn't rolled out yet. People can't find it yet, but
- 35:55it's coming. Oh, it's rolled out. Oh, it is rolled out.
- 35:58Okay, so how do they, how do we get to it? How do we find
- 36:02it? Is it on the website? Your websites? On my website, if
- 36:05you complete the application, there's. Or go
- 36:09to the contact page, it directs you to the
- 36:12application and then you just get in contact with me
- 36:16after there's a booking link, after the application
- 36:20is completed and then yes, we will have a
- 36:23conversation and if it's a good fit, then we can slide
- 36:27you in there. That's very cool. It's not yet on
- 36:31my website what we do together, but anyone would be welcome to
- 36:34reach out on my website, which is just Kara
- 36:37stoltenberg.com in terms of, you know, being in contact if
- 36:41they, if they needed something directly
- 36:45and also information about our program,
- 36:50which we need to get on my website. We do.
- 36:55So I love that. How long does a program, like how long does it usually
- 36:58last for people to walk through it? This is a six
- 37:02month program. Six months
- 37:06is a good period of time to make some
- 37:09significant progress.
- 37:14You want to go on beyond there, you can, but the
- 37:17initial program is six months. Okay.
- 37:21I think you talked a little bit about it and I wasn't registering with me
- 37:25that that was your together program. So I guess clarify.
- 37:28We both have individual programs. You can work with each of us
- 37:32individually as well. Which on my website is going
- 37:36to be the same. You're going to complete the same application and then we're just
- 37:39going to determine on. On a call which
- 37:42program works best for you and
- 37:46contact Kara the same way you know, from her website. So.
- 37:50And these are, these are virtual because you guys aren't in the same
- 37:54area. So that's great. I love that you do
- 37:58some in person stuff. So again, depending on
- 38:01people's needs and depending on like I, I do
- 38:05some like deep dive personal retreats and I
- 38:09will travel to people. So, you know, I have
- 38:13some in person things. I think as our world gets more and
- 38:16more
- 38:20techie, I get more and more hands on.
- 38:23I'm like, let's be in the room together. I want to hug you.
- 38:27And Brittany and I actually have dreams that
- 38:31will become a reality to do retreats to together
- 38:35with. With larger groups of people. Probably in the
- 38:39Mediterranean. Yes. Oh, boy.
- 38:42Okay. You want to come, Mary?
- 38:46Start saving my pennies right now. Sounds lovely.
- 38:50We, we have some really beautiful,
- 38:54like, we just, we want to get women together in a space
- 38:58where we can get really honest about what
- 39:02it takes to live that vital life. And
- 39:05also what blocks us from that and to clear some of
- 39:09those blocks out in a powerful sort of transformational experience
- 39:13and time and retreat. I'm a big fan of retreats
- 39:17and I feel like they can shift energy,
- 39:20they can shift beliefs. Being in the room with
- 39:25like working with someone in that capacity,
- 39:29you can do a lot virtually, but that
- 39:32closeness to that energy just
- 39:36can move mountains. And I find
- 39:40both. And like, and then the ongoing support, like in
- 39:44my work, the ongoing support for transformation
- 39:47and day by day making decisions that make my life look
- 39:51different based on like I learned these things about my inner
- 39:55child wounding. And so now what? Now how do I live
- 39:58differently to not have this directing my
- 40:02ship, you know, so having that ongoing support I think is
- 40:06also important because transformation happens over time.
- 40:10But there's this valuable being in
- 40:14the room and sharing space. So
- 40:18that's definitely on the docket. It.
- 40:22That one is not yet set, planned, booked, but it will be.
- 40:25So stay tuned. The drawing board stage. It will also
- 40:29be fun and there will be dancing and there will be
- 40:33a lot of laughing. Maybe some
- 40:37wine. Dancing is probably some wine. Definitely some wine.
- 40:41Vitality. What was that, Kara?
- 40:44I said probably some wine. Definitely some coffee. Those are,
- 40:48those are our favorite. Yeah.
- 40:51Wine, dancing, coffee. That all sounds good. Yeah. Yeah.
- 40:55So, well, thank you guys for coming on. As we close, I want to make
- 40:59sure everyone has the resources they need to get in contact with you. So your
- 41:03websites, I'm going to spell out their names. Our names are both
- 41:06their websites. So. Britney Hayden. Is that how you said
- 41:10it? Yeah. B R I T T A
- 41:14NY HEYDEN .com
- 41:18and then Kara Stoltenberg, K-A
- 41:21R-A S-T-O-L-T-E-N-B-E-R-G.com
- 41:25so their names, which are not super easy names to spell, it's easy to
- 41:29misspell those. So go to show notes or go to
- 41:33YouTube if you didn't. You're listening. Didn't catch that. Or just
- 41:36Google it. Brittany Heyden, Kara Stoltenberg, do
- 41:40your best and I think probably will come up. So
- 41:44as you. I want you guys to just to say whatever you want to do
- 41:46in closing and I'd love to have you guys back on again to go into
- 41:49things that know what we're doing that we could maybe eliminate from our life to
- 41:53take in less toxins at some point soon. But
- 41:57as you, as you kind of give any closing thoughts, could you also mention
- 42:00the books that you have so that they can look for those
- 42:04also? Yeah. Or your. Anything else to. That's
- 42:08maybe not on your website. Yeah. So
- 42:11closing thoughts. I.
- 42:16I would like to just say first off, thank you for having me. I've
- 42:20enjoyed this conversation so much. Me too. It's
- 42:23just been a lot of fun and I think we gave some great
- 42:28easy tips and I think that's one of the biggest keys.
- 42:33Detoxing does not have to be hard. It just
- 42:36takes a little bit of effort and doing
- 42:40small adjustments can make a
- 42:44big difference. So start
- 42:47small and if you are wanting to dive deeper,
- 42:51please don't do it on your own. Yeah, please
- 42:55seek out someone that can help you, that can guide you
- 42:58because it can be a very
- 43:02bumpy road and scary if you don't know what you're
- 43:05doing. So that would be my
- 43:09little tidbit of advice. And as far as
- 43:14my new book that was just published, it's called Empower
- 43:17her and you can find it on Amazon.
- 43:21Nice. Lovely. Yay. Yeah, I
- 43:24guess my closing thought would be
- 43:28your body is made to heal.
- 43:32And I think it's why we're here on the planet. You
- 43:35know, if, if there's something physically off,
- 43:40your body is brilliant and it knows how to heal
- 43:44and it knows how to detox. Your body's made to
- 43:48detoxify. But again,
- 43:51becoming a little bit aware that there's a lot going on in our environment
- 43:55that is more than we were made to handle. Right.
- 43:59But there's still a lot you can do to support. Support and so
- 44:02befriending your body. Yes.
- 44:05You know, she is working hard for you,
- 44:10so give her a Little Grace, listen. Yeah. And
- 44:14befriend your emotions. It's another
- 44:18thing. We. We want to kind of be hard on ourselves. When we're like, oh,
- 44:21I'm still just feeling whatever, it's like, okay, like, I had a client the
- 44:25other day say, like, trying not to be so grumpy. And I'm like, you know,
- 44:28I suggest you lean into that grumpiness. Like,
- 44:32befriend it. Talk, like, understand it. Why are you feeling
- 44:36grumpy? Like, what's going on? Is there something physically going
- 44:39on? I used to always do that as a mom. I would be like, okay,
- 44:42he's definitely hungry. We're having a
- 44:46testosterone spike. You know, like, what is going on physically
- 44:49and what's going on emotionally that's contributing to this
- 44:53meltdown right now or this behavior, anger or whatever it is.
- 44:57We can do that same thing for ourselves. Like, if you're feeling
- 45:01grumpy, rather than just trying to have a positive attitude,
- 45:05first lean into.
- 45:09I'm grumpy. What's going on here? Give yourself some space.
- 45:13And then recognize, like, oh, there's this, and there's this and there's this, and the
- 45:17world's on fire. And that's always one of them, you know? And.
- 45:22And then perhaps you will
- 45:25find it more attainable to choose a positive attitude and be like,
- 45:29okay, I want to try to have a great
- 45:33day, so I'm gonna. I'm gonna try to
- 45:37muster it up, you know, whatever. But befriend your body,
- 45:41befriend your emotions, and
- 45:44befriend people who are support. Supportive to your
- 45:48journey, both physically and emotionally, because
- 45:52I don't know what I wouldn't have done without these ladies
- 45:57for my whole life, for the last, you know, decade and
- 46:01a half, almost two. And, you know, it's really
- 46:04important to have support and people in your life
- 46:08that are also trying their best,
- 46:12for sure, emotionally, like, we learn from each other. We
- 46:15carry each other. When. When there are those seasons, we
- 46:19hype each other up. You know, this is so important. Get
- 46:23behind one another. Yeah. Hold each other's arms up when
- 46:26they're falling down. Yeah. Each other on all those things.
- 46:31And we all go through hard things. So having a circle is always a.
- 46:35The. The. The only. The only good way to move forward
- 46:38is that people have more. Circle is one of the most
- 46:42powerful things. Yeah. It's so powerful. So I
- 46:46have three books that I have contributed to, and
- 46:49all three of them are on Amazon. The first one was called Pebbles
- 46:53in the Pond, Wave four. The next
- 46:57one was called Dream Boldly, I dare you.
- 47:01Which was one of my favorites. It was such a fun. It was
- 47:05such a fun collaboration. And that was the first.
- 47:09There's two volumes of that. Mine was the first one and then
- 47:13the last one I just did was a breathwork collaboration.
- 47:17It was a book about breath work and that incorporated
- 47:21into a personal journey and how breath work has been
- 47:24part of my healing. So I'm trying to remember
- 47:29the name of that one, but it's that one. They're all on
- 47:32Amazon and if you search me, you're going to find them.
- 47:36I'm currently working on a book about
- 47:40my journey in the last seven years
- 47:43since a near death experience that I had
- 47:47was in a hit and run accident and was left on the side of the
- 47:51road unconscious to die and have
- 47:55worked in the last seven years to
- 47:58rebuild my life. But the lessons around
- 48:02being so very present
- 48:05to the now and drawing in all
- 48:09my energy to here and being
- 48:13present and alive, finding my way to
- 48:17I am okay and then realizing,
- 48:21oh, that's not enough for me because I. I want to be okay, but I
- 48:24want to be alive. Like, I want so much more than I'm
- 48:28okay. And. But it took me years
- 48:32to get to I'm okay. So, you know, just
- 48:36the journey, and it's such a universal journey because
- 48:40it's what I walk clients through all the time. I'm not okay.
- 48:43I'm okay. Okay, now how do we go from here
- 48:47and get you living your best life, you know, and what does that look like
- 48:51for you? And that's different for everyone. So I'm. I'm working on that
- 48:55one. And, you know, it's. It's a work in progress
- 48:58and it's okay with me that it's a work in progress.
- 49:02I don't put deadlines on these kind of things. I wait for the urge to
- 49:05come through and then I let it roll. That's how
- 49:09my writing works. I think all the time, life and flow, and
- 49:13then I think of Kara and then I think of my life and I'm like,
- 49:16not there yet. But it is a really nice goal.
- 49:22I do. I'm like, oh, no flow in this. But yeah,
- 49:26I love you. Thank you for having us. This was a really fun
- 49:30conversation. Thanks for letting me bring my bestie on. Yes.
- 49:33Yeah, I love it. I love that you guys are working together. So.
- 49:37All right, you have a wonderful evening, everyone. And until next time.
- 49:41Okay,
- 49:49bye.
