- 0:00Happy Monday morning everybody. It has rained 40 days and 40
- 0:07nights in St. Louis, MO.
- 0:10It will not stop raining. I think I'm going to have to
- 0:14build a boat because remember Noah's Ark?
- 0:18They built the boat because it flooded it.
- 0:21It won't stop. We have had probably 3, three
- 0:25straight weeks, maybe a month and 1/2 tornado warnings at
- 0:30least once a week. And I mean when it rains, it's
- 0:36it's big. I was going to say it's like a
- 0:39cow pissing on a Flat Rock. I said to hell with it.
- 0:44I just say it. We all friends here anyway,
- 0:47That's old country talk. Hey, walls, it raining so hard
- 0:50over there like cow pissing on a Flat Rock.
- 0:55All right, everybody, today's Coffee with Kenny is about
- 1:01NASCAR is at a turning point. Now.
- 1:04I'm sure NASCAR knows everything they're doing.
- 1:07But as you all know, Steve Phelps, our president of NASCAR,
- 1:11he's now over international affairs.
- 1:14So Steve Phelps is now in charge of worldly NASCAR.
- 1:20Where's NASCAR going to go in the world?
- 1:23Are we going to race in Europe? Where at now?
- 1:26My buddy Steve O'Donnell is now the president.
- 1:32I see we are at a turning point in NASCAR for so many reasons.
- 1:39That's going to be my highlight right here.
- 1:41NASCAR is at a turning point. Well, Herman, what is that
- 1:45turning point? Well, I mean, you see what's
- 1:50going on. And on Herman Schrader
- 1:52Wednesday, we're getting ready to tape in here in about 20
- 1:54minutes, but it's going to be about NASCAR went to Joliet and
- 2:00Chicagoland, NASCAR went to Kentucky, NASCAR went to
- 2:07California. Beep, beep, beep.
- 2:12NASCAR back it up. They left all those places.
- 2:16NASCAR has left California Speedway, NASCAR has left
- 2:21Kentucky, NASCAR has left Joliet and Chicagoland, and now they
- 2:27are right back to Bowman, Gray, North Wilkesboro.
- 2:32And of course, the one that was so successful this week was
- 2:35Rockingham. So, Oh, and it's all right and
- 2:41love is good. We going to get right back to
- 2:44where we started from. Love is good.
- 2:48Love could be that song. There's also another one.
- 2:53How's it go? Don't it always seem to go that
- 2:57you don't know what you got till it's gone?
- 3:01They paid Paradise put in a parking lot.
- 3:04Don't it always seem to go You don't know what you got till
- 3:08it's gone? Both those songs.
- 3:12So we are at a turning point. And what that means is NASCAR's
- 3:19got to start looking at, OK, how much money do we need to make?
- 3:24So we know that everything we do is about making money.
- 3:29That's just the way life is. It don't have anything to do
- 3:32with greed. ISC, International Speedway
- 3:36Corporation, you know, everything's about making money.
- 3:41I believe that there is at least three races a year and there's
- 3:46room to make, make, make things right.
- 3:49So I'm saying, you know, what are those three races a year?
- 3:54Well, we know Rockingham. We know that Ben Kennedy.
- 3:58Ben Kennedy who owns NASCAR, along with, you know, Jim
- 4:03France. We know Jim France is the Grand
- 4:05Pooh Pop. Ben Kennedy's Mama is Lesa
- 4:09Kennedy France. So we know that Ben Kennedy told
- 4:15The Charlotte Observer that, you know, yes, we're looking at
- 4:19Rockingham. We could go back there in 2027
- 4:23if everything goes good. Well, it was it was a Grand
- 4:27Slam. So no, NASCAR is going to watch
- 4:30Rockingham next year and see if it's going to be another Grand
- 4:33Slam. Then I feel really good that
- 4:36NASCAR Cup Series will be back at Rockingham in 2027.
- 4:41So turning point this this next Gen. car, it performs well.
- 4:48We've had all these great races, but then all of a sudden you're,
- 4:53you know, we're upset that, you know, I just don't.
- 4:56I mean, I know Denny Hamlin's on the action judgmental and and I
- 4:59know they raced the race cars. So Denny's saying the car can be
- 5:03fixed. Denny Hamlin is saying the car
- 5:06can be fixed. I'd listen, there's, there is
- 5:10close to a billion dollars spent on that car.
- 5:14It it's silly to go get rid of the car guys, it ain't that
- 5:18easy. You got to have a little bit of
- 5:20a common sense approach to this. You don't just get rid of the
- 5:24car and go back to the Xfinity car.
- 5:28If, if Danny is right and the car can be fixed, I, my belief
- 5:32is Goodyear can fix it all. Hey, what's the four things that
- 5:38touch the ground, the tire? I think Goodyear can fix that
- 5:43car as far as getting things more the way you want them at at
- 5:48Bristol. Listen, Bristol's the big
- 5:50disturber in this whole this whole deal, everything was going
- 5:54along just fine and all the same thing last year.
- 5:59You know it. I'm never I'm never going to go
- 6:03Bristol's horrible. OK, all I'm going to say is that
- 6:06if you take Kyle Larson out of the mix, just get rid of him,
- 6:11it's a hell of a race, right? Because you look at 2nd, 3rd and
- 6:154th, you you saw, you know, Chase Briscoe and you shot saw
- 6:19Ty Gibbs. They were going at it.
- 6:21Imagine if that would have been a fight for the lead.
- 6:23You're all you all would have been saying, Oh my God,
- 6:25Bristol's back. But because you know what,
- 6:29here's the way I look at those races to say if it's a good or
- 6:32bad one. If the leader is gone, that
- 6:35means he's giving you all an ass whipping, but if second, third
- 6:39and 4th are going at it, that means it's a hell of a race.
- 6:41Well, you know, I know late in that race they were battling
- 6:45for, you know, 3rd and 4th. Is it?
- 6:47To me that was fine. Is does Bristol have a problem?
- 6:52I'll say that Goodyear can do a better job with the tires.
- 6:57So right now we're at a turning point and I think we see it
- 7:02happening. We saw Bowman Gray, we saw
- 7:05Wilkesboro. So remember this moment these
- 7:08these years, NASCAR is going to come back to where they left.
- 7:14NASCAR is going to take the Next Gen. car.
- 7:16They going to get it right, right.
- 7:20I just really think we are. All I'm saying is recognize,
- 7:24recognize the situation right now.
- 7:26We are at a turning point. And as far as that rocket
- 7:31embrace, that was insane. I mean, it was insane for all
- 7:35types of reasons. And I'm going to leave you with
- 7:38this. I'm not going to say I told you
- 7:41so, but I did remember what I told you about perception.
- 7:46Do you know what Rockingham was sold out at?
- 7:50Guess who wins Mother? Me.
- 7:54Rockingham. The grandstands 18,500, 20,000
- 8:01or more, All those sweets sold out.
- 8:03Those grandstands were 18,520 thousand, but there was 50,000
- 8:11at Bristol. That, my friends, is deception.
- 8:17See, Rocket am sold out. Yeah, it's sold out.
- 8:23That's what we ought to do to every NASCAR track, put in
- 8:2620,000 grandstands and that way it would force you all to go,
- 8:30oh, look, we're sold out. All right, everybody, I got to
- 8:36hurry up in there and I'm going to brush my teeth real quick
- 8:40before we do. Herman Schrader, have a great
- 8:42Monday respond right here. The question is, this is NASCAR
- 8:46at a turning point. We're trending upwards.
- 8:49One thing's a fact. We're trending upwards and it's
- 8:52a fact. All right, Happy Monday.
