- 0:15Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:19Speaker 3: One of my favorite things about the Super Bowl is
- 0:21Speaker 3: I go on Twitter as the halftime thing and I
- 0:25Speaker 3: get fifty like visceral hatred and fifty visceral.
- 0:28Speaker 1: That's the greatest thing I've ever seen. Right away, I
- 0:31Speaker 1: literally could not care. Andy hard Love Katie Perry. I
- 0:34Speaker 1: thought that was terrible.
- 0:36Speaker 2: I don't like, but you don't have to.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Oh, I don't know about that. That took a turn.
- 0:42Speaker 2: I wanted to play, just because his name allows you
- 0:45Speaker 2: to be both happy in that.
- 0:47Speaker 1: So if he has a good game, eften chism.
- 0:49Speaker 2: If he has a bad game, eften chism.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Right, it works both ways, brilliance or friend. I will
- 0:55Speaker 1: take the Colts, but I will take the seven. That's
- 0:57Speaker 1: a lot of points. You'll take the seven?
- 0:58Speaker 2: How big is your unit?
- 1:03Speaker 1: On NBC in universo. This is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by
- 1:08Speaker 1: Toyota's official website.
- 1:09Speaker 2: For deals, buy a Toyota dot com. All right, welcome
- 1:14Speaker 2: the Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:15Speaker 1: It is Tuesday.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Here at Jillette Stadium, and let me tell you something.
- 1:20Speaker 2: For and two babies set them up. We'll just knock
- 1:23Speaker 2: him down. Just bring them on, just bring them on
- 1:25Speaker 2: in a row. Yeah, it's three in a row, going
- 1:28Speaker 2: on the road for hopefully three in a row on
- 1:30Speaker 2: the road to Tennessee. But a lot to digest from
- 1:34Speaker 2: the Saints game. Drake May continues to just I don't.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Know, just show us, show us what he can do
- 1:43Speaker 1: in a good way.
- 1:44Speaker 2: It's it's amazing the leap that he's had since last year.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Amazing, amazed.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, probably maybe we'd have used it every week
- 1:56Speaker 2: any day. No, it's good, it's good stuff. But you know,
- 2:00Speaker 2: I think the best thing that I like coming out
- 2:03Speaker 2: of this game, and again it's it's Evan, it's Paul,
- 2:05Speaker 2: it's me, it's Deuce, Matt and Alex in the booth.
- 2:09Speaker 2: The thing that I like best coming out of the
- 2:12Speaker 2: game Sunday was the maturity of the team one overcoming
- 2:17Speaker 2: some questions, I'll be nice, questionable officiating and not letting
- 2:21Speaker 2: it affect them, not letting penalties derail drives for example.
- 2:27Speaker 2: You know other editions of the Patriots that would have
- 2:30Speaker 2: that's it. They would never recover. And then after the game,
- 2:33Speaker 2: the mood wasn't like woo, it was no, we left
- 2:38Speaker 2: a lot on that field and we need to be better.
- 2:40Speaker 2: And to me, that's showing maturity of it. They want more,
- 2:44Speaker 2: they want more.
- 2:45Speaker 3: I agree with That was the number one thing that
- 2:48Speaker 3: impressed me was the performance. I feel like they played
- 2:52Speaker 3: better than you know. And if they're not satisfied, I
- 2:54Speaker 3: think that's great that they think that they're capable of it.
- 2:57Speaker 3: But I think they all the things that people worried
- 2:59Speaker 3: abutt really didn't manifest, like are they going to be
- 3:03Speaker 3: ready to go?
- 3:04Speaker 1: They're going to come out flat.
- 3:05Speaker 3: They gave up the bomb on the first play, Okay,
- 3:06Speaker 3: so I do recognize that. But then they immediately regathered
- 3:11Speaker 3: themselves and come up with a red zone stop, something
- 3:13Speaker 3: that hasn't really happened a lot this year. The red
- 3:15Speaker 3: zone defense has been a problem. It wasn't a problem
- 3:17Speaker 3: on Sunday offensively, I mean, come on, you come out
- 3:20Speaker 3: and score touchdowns on three your first four drives of
- 3:23Speaker 3: the game. YEP, didn't finish as well as they would
- 3:26Speaker 3: have liked, but I just thought they were approaching it.
- 3:28Speaker 3: They were not flat, and even the freaking come out flat.
- 3:30Speaker 3: They came out ready to play.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Even that first play. It wasn't because they were flats,
- 3:33Speaker 2: because they were over aggressive, screwed up.
- 3:35Speaker 1: I agree.
- 3:36Speaker 3: I think that was a little bit of a an
- 3:39Speaker 3: aggressive call for the first down of the game, right,
- 3:43Speaker 3: you know. I thought overall, the Patriots played a really,
- 3:45Speaker 3: really good game, and they needed to because the other
- 3:47Speaker 3: team played well.
- 3:48Speaker 4: Right, Yeah, it's all about may I mean that For me,
- 3:50Speaker 4: it's you know, you can dive into defensive nuances about
- 3:54Speaker 4: what they.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Need to improve on in the running game.
- 3:56Speaker 4: But we've been talking about it for what five years now,
- 3:59Speaker 4: trying to get this quarterback, and I'm just amazed by
- 4:02Speaker 4: the progress he's made. I didn't expect him to be
- 4:04Speaker 4: this good, to look this locked in, you know, even
- 4:07Speaker 4: from what we saw in the summer. I mean in
- 4:08Speaker 4: the summer it was still kind of up and down,
- 4:10Speaker 4: even in the joint practices. You know, it was all right,
- 4:12Speaker 4: it might be a little bumpy for him trying to
- 4:14Speaker 4: get on track with this offense.
- 4:16Speaker 2: But you bring up a good point, because there was
- 4:18Speaker 2: no indication from the summer that he'd be this good. Yeah,
- 4:22Speaker 2: I mean otherwise, and I'm just talking about the offense
- 4:24Speaker 2: as well as a whole, Like there was no indicators that, oh,
- 4:28Speaker 2: this offense is going to get it going, but they did.
- 4:30Speaker 1: The Yeah.
- 4:31Speaker 4: I mean, I would say there were moments in Minnesota
- 4:34Speaker 4: where and the granted it wasn't even like really the
- 4:36Speaker 4: competitive eleven or on eleven periods, but that was the
- 4:38Speaker 4: first time I saw Diggs and I was like, there's
- 4:40Speaker 4: something there between these two guys, and Digs just to
- 4:43Speaker 4: me at that point, I was like, he can turn
- 4:45Speaker 4: it on when he wants, so, I you know, you
- 4:47Speaker 4: saw little subtle hints that it might be coming, but
- 4:49Speaker 4: you know, and Drake being comfortable. I think that was
- 4:52Speaker 4: just something this summer that he doesn't look overwhelmed. You know,
- 4:54Speaker 4: it didn't necessarily translate to you know, perfect consistency throughout
- 4:58Speaker 4: you know, every practice and stuff, but you know, just
- 5:01Speaker 4: the strides he's taken in these last three weeks where
- 5:03Speaker 4: he just seems un unrattleable. Is that I don't know
- 5:05Speaker 4: if that's a word, but like he just doesn't he
- 5:08Speaker 4: doesn't get off track. He doesn't, he stays, you know,
- 5:10Speaker 4: he gets smacked and then he comes right back and
- 5:13Speaker 4: makes a play. And you know, I said it this
- 5:15Speaker 4: morning we were talking just for me. The big thing
- 5:17Speaker 4: we had talked about a lot, even in the early
- 5:19Speaker 4: part of the season was drifting into pressure and just
- 5:21Speaker 4: not having a good feel for the pocket.
- 5:23Speaker 1: And those things are starting to go away.
- 5:27Speaker 4: Now he seems like he's buying time, he's stepping up
- 5:29Speaker 4: into the pocket, he's delivering throws, he's taking a subtle
- 5:32Speaker 4: step to the left, and you know, buying himself just
- 5:34Speaker 4: enough time to deliver it.
- 5:35Speaker 1: So, you know, the the I mean, the.
- 5:38Speaker 4: Sky's the limit for this kid right now. He just
- 5:40Speaker 4: he seems like he is locked in and playing really well.
- 5:42Speaker 1: And then what.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Can you say about Kaishan Boody. I mean, everything that
- 5:47Speaker 2: gets thrown to him he catches, and they're not just
- 5:50Speaker 2: like random you know plays. These are big plays, like
- 5:53Speaker 2: third down, gotta have it plays, you know, behind the
- 5:57Speaker 2: sticks plays.
- 5:59Speaker 1: He's he's I mean, he's really.
- 6:01Speaker 2: He's talk about consistency this year, he's been mister consistent.
- 6:05Speaker 5: Yeah, he's been really good. I think really the main
- 6:08Speaker 5: thing with Drake is like his decision making is just
- 6:13Speaker 5: it's at an elite level right now. Like there's just
- 6:15Speaker 5: not very many instances on tape where he's throwing the
- 6:17Speaker 5: ball the wrong places. Now there maybe are one or
- 6:21Speaker 5: two sprays a game that they're still kind of managing.
- 6:23Speaker 5: But at the same time, when you have a quarterback
- 6:26Speaker 5: that's playing on time, in rhythm and understanding, you know,
- 6:30Speaker 5: the structure and the concepts of the offense to get
- 6:33Speaker 5: the ball out to the right reads consistently, it's just
- 6:37Speaker 5: it's really fun to watch. It's it's great to see it.
- 6:40Speaker 5: It's fun to watch. His tape is basically flawless. Like
- 6:43Speaker 5: the last three weeks, it's very hard to find things
- 6:48Speaker 5: to nitpick about, you know, his individual play. I mean
- 6:52Speaker 5: in this game, really the only thing that you could
- 6:54Speaker 5: really get on him was the delay a game down
- 6:57Speaker 5: in the red zone, Like that was pretty much the
- 6:59Speaker 5: old only mental error he had for four quarters. In
- 7:02Speaker 5: this game, the turnover worthy play rate is way down.
- 7:06Speaker 5: He's not putting the ball in harm's way as much.
- 7:08Speaker 5: His ball security in the pocket is significantly improved. He's
- 7:13Speaker 5: not getting stripsacked or putting the ball at risk in
- 7:16Speaker 5: terms of that as much either, including the lack of interceptions.
- 7:20Speaker 5: So this is an elite level quarterback play. He's playing
- 7:24Speaker 5: like a top five quarterback in the league. And I
- 7:27Speaker 5: know last week, we got some calls about MVP, and
- 7:30Speaker 5: you know those types of discussions.
- 7:31Speaker 1: You're going to continue to get him.
- 7:33Speaker 5: He is in the conversation. It's six weeks into the season.
- 7:36Speaker 5: It's really early still, but MVP, All Pro, Pro Bowl,
- 7:41Speaker 5: like all of that. He's in the conversation for all
- 7:44Speaker 5: of these accolades at this point in the year.
- 7:47Speaker 1: We'll see if he can continue.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it's week six, so you know, we
- 7:50Speaker 2: got eleven games to go.
- 7:51Speaker 1: But we got to show to do today. And right
- 7:53Speaker 1: now he's an MVP guy.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Right now, he's playing at that.
- 7:57Speaker 1: And I'm with Evan.
- 7:58Speaker 3: I just off season everybody, all anybody ever wants to
- 8:02Speaker 3: ask you about is how what do you think?
- 8:03Speaker 1: How do you how do they look? What do you?
- 8:05Speaker 1: What do you think this year? You know, what what's
- 8:07Speaker 1: the record?
- 8:07Speaker 3: And I always said the same thing, and out of
- 8:09Speaker 3: seven eight wins, you know they'll be improved. They've they've
- 8:13Speaker 3: definitely added talent. And then I always wrap it up
- 8:17Speaker 3: with my caveat unless Drake may does X and we've
- 8:23Speaker 3: seen it like this is like every week he's adding something.
- 8:27Speaker 3: The Buffalo game was incredible, right, some of the individual
- 8:31Speaker 3: plays that he made were just there's not a lot
- 8:34Speaker 3: of guys in the league that are capable of making
- 8:36Speaker 3: some of the throws some of the escapes that he did.
- 8:39Speaker 3: This game, to me was far more impressive because the
- 8:43Speaker 3: things that Evan talked about. It's maybe you could go
- 8:45Speaker 3: back and look at that Buffalo game and say, well,
- 8:47Speaker 3: why did you run to the right there. All you
- 8:49Speaker 3: had to do is you had just set your feet
- 8:51Speaker 3: throw the ball the guy's right there. This game, he
- 8:54Speaker 3: did that and there was there was traffic around him,
- 8:57Speaker 3: there was pressure in the pocket. It wasn't like the
- 8:59Speaker 3: pass protection is flawless, But he's just navigating around. He's
- 9:03Speaker 3: making throws down field while guys are tugging on his shirt.
- 9:06Speaker 3: He's sliding subtly one way or the other, keeping his
- 9:09Speaker 3: eyes down field consistently and protecting the ball. Yeah, and
- 9:13Speaker 3: and not like Kevin said, there's no real I think
- 9:17Speaker 3: he might have had a turnover where they play. It
- 9:19Speaker 3: might have been his quarterback sneak that he fumbled on. Yeah,
- 9:21Speaker 3: that he ends up like just landing on the ball.
- 9:23Speaker 1: That I mean.
- 9:24Speaker 3: I don't know what they record for these but coctametric sites,
- 9:27Speaker 3: but I don't see anything resembling a turnover for a
- 9:31Speaker 3: while now, and that's the secret sauce. When May doesn't
- 9:35Speaker 3: turn the ball over, they win.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Yeah, the only thing.
- 9:37Speaker 3: And he's responsible for them winning, like he's putting the
- 9:39Speaker 3: offense on his back.
- 9:41Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, I mean there's turnover where they play rate
- 9:43Speaker 5: as a rookie was three point five percent. He's now
- 9:46Speaker 5: down to two percent as a tenth best turnover worthy
- 9:49Speaker 5: play rate in the NFL for a guy that came
- 9:51Speaker 5: into the year with turnover concerns, and we saw it
- 9:54Speaker 5: against Pittsburgh. You know, we saw some of those come
- 9:56Speaker 5: up a little bit, but for the most party, he's
- 9:59Speaker 5: really that out and that has been really steady. I
- 10:02Speaker 5: think the other encouraging part about it from an offense standpoint,
- 10:05Speaker 5: this was as open as Patriots receivers were getting down
- 10:09Speaker 5: the field as I've seen in years on their film.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Like Pop Douglas.
- 10:13Speaker 5: I know the one got taken back, but I'm talking
- 10:15Speaker 5: instructure open, like the first that actually counted.
- 10:19Speaker 3: The first touchdown was a play action a little bit boom.
- 10:21Speaker 2: That was the play, even the one that was way
- 10:24Speaker 2: off the mark. To Kyle Williams, Kyle Williams is wide open.
- 10:28Speaker 2: He just they I don't know if he cut the
- 10:30Speaker 2: wrong way the one yea later on?
- 10:33Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, Well so you know Pop is on the
- 10:35Speaker 5: first touchdown just running a little corner post and like
- 10:38Speaker 5: he just dusts the safety. Yeah, and he's just opened
- 10:40Speaker 5: by like ten yards safety.
- 10:43Speaker 3: That was unbelievable coverage. You must have had a fun
- 10:45Speaker 3: time with that. The corner is letting them go, letting
- 10:48Speaker 3: Douglas go to the safety. Yeah, and the safety runs
- 10:50Speaker 3: the same direction as the corner.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like your whole job. You had one job.
- 10:54Speaker 5: He doesn't, you know, gives a little nod to the
- 10:56Speaker 5: corner right, Like he gives a little fake like he
- 10:58Speaker 5: had a break on the corner and then he breaks
- 11:00Speaker 5: it on the post and he just separates like he
- 11:03Speaker 5: just to open field. Kaisehan Booty on his second touchdown,
- 11:08Speaker 5: same thing, you know, a little burst corner route, you know,
- 11:11Speaker 5: set up the inside and then break out on the
- 11:13Speaker 5: corner and the cornerback gets turned around. Cool, it just
- 11:17Speaker 5: gets turned around like a top. And I'm watching it
- 11:19Speaker 5: yesterday and I'm like, when's the last time you could
- 11:22Speaker 5: see deep targets down the thin Yeah, I mean those moves, sure,
- 11:29Speaker 5: some of it, I'm sure, but you know, a lot
- 11:31Speaker 5: of it also is just you know, the way the
- 11:34Speaker 5: route is designed and the play is.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Designed, you know, like getting that leverage and you know,
- 11:39Speaker 2: seeing where the leverage is and working against that.
- 11:41Speaker 1: And yeah, you know, yeah, yeah.
- 11:43Speaker 5: I mean, you know, Booty's second touchdown is a route
- 11:45Speaker 5: that I've seen Julian Edelman run a hundred times, and
- 11:48Speaker 5: that's exactly what you do. You know, it looks like
- 11:50Speaker 5: it's a crossing route. You kind of fake to the inside,
- 11:53Speaker 5: get the corner to bite and come off his leverage
- 11:55Speaker 5: to the inside, and then you break out and you
- 11:57Speaker 5: can break out into open space and see two guys
- 12:01Speaker 5: on two downfield. You know, deep balls, get that open
- 12:05Speaker 5: on a Patriots film. It's been a while. It's been
- 12:09Speaker 5: a while since they've done that. So you look at
- 12:11Speaker 5: the way teams are defending Drake and I wrote about
- 12:14Speaker 5: this and after further review all the single high structures
- 12:17Speaker 5: that they're getting with the post safeties and stuff like that,
- 12:20Speaker 5: if you keep playing them in single high safety, he's
- 12:22Speaker 5: torching you like he's leads the league in passer rating,
- 12:25Speaker 5: leads the league in EPA, leads the league in passing
- 12:28Speaker 5: yards against those single high safeties, so if that's what
- 12:31Speaker 5: you keep doing against him, they they're making them pay
- 12:34Speaker 5: for stacking the box and doing the whole easy to
- 12:37Speaker 5: defend thing. They're not so easy to defend anymore.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Wow, they are right now.
- 12:42Speaker 2: But we're going to talk about that because one of
- 12:44Speaker 2: the other things that came out of this game was
- 12:46Speaker 2: the running game.
- 12:47Speaker 5: Well, this is my point, is that they're putting eight
- 12:49Speaker 5: guys in the box to take away the run game,
- 12:52Speaker 5: and they're basically daring the outside receivers on the Patriots
- 12:55Speaker 5: to beat them. And every single week, the Patriots outside
- 12:57Speaker 5: receivers are going out there and winning these matchups. So
- 13:01Speaker 5: at some point in time, the defenses are going to
- 13:03Speaker 5: have to adjust and they're going to have to back
- 13:05Speaker 5: off the line of scrimmage and put two high safeties
- 13:08Speaker 5: or play with more cushion, or whatever the case may be.
- 13:11Speaker 1: And that's the chess match.
- 13:13Speaker 6: Like.
- 13:13Speaker 5: Once that starts to happen, now there's more rooms.
- 13:15Speaker 2: So you think the running woes is because of eight
- 13:18Speaker 2: in the box.
- 13:18Speaker 5: I think it's a big part of it. Now, there's
- 13:20Speaker 5: definitely other elements to it. It's not the only thing,
- 13:23Speaker 5: but I think a big part of it is that
- 13:25Speaker 5: the Patriots right now are seeing single high safety more
- 13:29Speaker 5: than any other offense in the NFL. They're number one
- 13:31Speaker 5: in the league in terms of single high safety rate
- 13:34Speaker 5: in the league. So out the book right now on
- 13:36Speaker 5: the Patriots is that they don't have the talent on
- 13:38Speaker 5: the outside. So you can put eight guys in the box,
- 13:42Speaker 5: you can put your corners on islands, and the Patriots
- 13:44Speaker 5: are not going to be able to.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Beat your coverage.
- 13:47Speaker 5: And through six weeks they are third in the league
- 13:49Speaker 5: and total EPA through the air, So they're not just
- 13:52Speaker 5: beating the coverage, they are beating the coverage.
- 13:55Speaker 1: At an elite level.
- 13:56Speaker 5: So at some point the adjustment has to come back
- 13:58Speaker 5: the other way and the Patriots are going to be
- 14:01Speaker 5: defended differently.
- 14:02Speaker 4: I was gonna ask you because I know sometimes the
- 14:04Speaker 4: numbers on next Gen are wrong, But we talked all
- 14:07Speaker 4: last week about them being a big Cover two team
- 14:10Speaker 4: and playing a.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Lot of you know, did you see that, I mean,
- 14:12Speaker 1: you were there live.
- 14:14Speaker 4: Did you feel like that was a conscious choice to
- 14:17Speaker 4: be like, We're going to try to spin the dialum
- 14:19Speaker 4: a little bit.
- 14:19Speaker 1: We're going to play a lot of Cover one to
- 14:20Speaker 1: see if we can mess them up a little bit.
- 14:22Speaker 1: I mean, did it seem different.
- 14:23Speaker 5: No, No, but the playing a lot of Cover three
- 14:26Speaker 5: and Cover one in this game New Orleans did. And
- 14:30Speaker 5: again I just think that these teams look on paper
- 14:34Speaker 5: at Keisham Boudi and to Mario Douglas and a thirty
- 14:36Speaker 5: one year old Stefon Diggs, and they come into these games,
- 14:39Speaker 5: you know, Matt Collins, and they don't think the Patriots
- 14:42Speaker 5: have a lot of talent at receiver. And we can
- 14:45Speaker 5: have that conversation of do they have talent at receiver
- 14:49Speaker 5: or is Drake Maye just as good and he's just
- 14:51Speaker 5: putting the ball in places that can't be defense.
- 14:54Speaker 1: And that's that's why.
- 14:56Speaker 5: But regardless of the chicken or the egg like, it's happening,
- 15:00Speaker 5: you know. And so I think with the run game,
- 15:03Speaker 5: what happens when teams start to respect the Patriots passing
- 15:06Speaker 5: game and they back off a little bit and they
- 15:09Speaker 5: play a little bit two more too high shell, you
- 15:11Speaker 5: get that extra defender out of the box. Can they
- 15:13Speaker 5: still not run the ball at that point? Yeah, let's see,
- 15:16Speaker 5: because right now that it's that's the blueprint and the
- 15:19Speaker 5: Patriots are torching the blueprint.
- 15:21Speaker 3: And that's one of the things when we talked about
- 15:22Speaker 3: like three you know, I don't know, three or four
- 15:24Speaker 3: weeks ago, the offense was playing reasonably well. I thought
- 15:28Speaker 3: they had a good game in Miami.
- 15:29Speaker 1: You know.
- 15:29Speaker 3: The only game that they really didn't look good offensively
- 15:32Speaker 3: was the first game.
- 15:32Speaker 1: You know.
- 15:32Speaker 3: The other five games, I think they've they've been pretty Yeah,
- 15:36Speaker 3: they've been pretty productive. They haven't scored as much as
- 15:39Speaker 3: I would like, but they've moved the ball pretty well.
- 15:42Speaker 3: And in the other five games, and I would I
- 15:46Speaker 3: would say that they were lacking some of the chunk plays,
- 15:48Speaker 3: and I think I thought that's what was keeping the
- 15:50Speaker 3: score down. And now the last couple of games, you're
- 15:53Speaker 3: starting to see some of those chunks.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Sorry x's thank you, And you're starting to see some
- 15:59Speaker 1: of those.
- 16:00Speaker 3: And you got you got three, you know, three passes
- 16:03Speaker 3: that he completed that traveled I think twenty five yards
- 16:05Speaker 3: or more in the air.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Something like that.
- 16:07Speaker 5: Three touchdowns, the three touchdowns, Like that's like that's directly
- 16:11Speaker 5: putting points on the board. And then you look at
- 16:13Speaker 5: that and you're like it was still only twenty five,
- 16:16Speaker 5: you know, like the week before, you're still only twenty three,
- 16:19Speaker 5: you know, getting these plays, so they're going to need
- 16:22Speaker 5: some support.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Freddy's point from the other part of.
- 16:25Speaker 2: The trip to the end zone where they got down
- 16:27Speaker 2: to the two with May's run, that was a waste.
- 16:30Speaker 1: That was a wastee. That's got to be a touchdown
- 16:32Speaker 1: to get out. Yeah. Yeah, it's got to be a
- 16:33Speaker 1: touchdown on a field goal.
- 16:34Speaker 5: Yeah, they're rush offense. Like I said, there's multiple reasons
- 16:38Speaker 5: as to why they're struggling. I think the biggest one
- 16:41Speaker 5: in this game was the blocking. Like they were blocking
- 16:44Speaker 5: in this game, struggled and they went backwards Mike.
- 16:46Speaker 1: And I who haven't fun.
- 16:47Speaker 2: That's what I want to get to because, like you know,
- 16:51Speaker 2: I know I'm looking at it from this, you know,
- 16:54Speaker 2: Layman's perspective, but I get the feeling that there's so
- 16:58Speaker 2: much emphasis on pass blocking and protecting May that when
- 17:01Speaker 2: they get to run block, they don't have that same fire,
- 17:04Speaker 2: Like it's almost like a relief. Okay, it's just a
- 17:07Speaker 2: run play. I don't have to worry about May, And
- 17:10Speaker 2: they don't seem to be holding their block ye long enough.
- 17:14Speaker 5: You know, there's some culprits of that, you know, in
- 17:18Speaker 5: this I thought in the first five weeks of the season,
- 17:20Speaker 5: they run blocking had been okay, not great but fine.
- 17:24Speaker 5: In this game, they went backwards six times, they had
- 17:28Speaker 5: six negative.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Runs, and they had a lot of guys in the backfield.
- 17:30Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean that's a season high. It was not
- 17:33Speaker 5: a good run blocking game. The Saints seem to have
- 17:35Speaker 5: a pretty good beat on what they wanted to do
- 17:37Speaker 5: in the run game, and when every time Jared Wilson pulled,
- 17:40Speaker 5: that guy was just firing right through his gap and
- 17:43Speaker 5: there was nobody there to block him. So they really
- 17:46Speaker 5: struggled to run block in this game consistently, just across
- 17:50Speaker 5: the board on the offensive line. You know, I think
- 17:53Speaker 5: they still need a little bit more out of a
- 17:55Speaker 5: Winnu as a run blocker. I think Jared Wilson struggles
- 18:00Speaker 5: right now in the run game. I don't think he's
- 18:02Speaker 5: his power. I don't think he's quite big enough to
- 18:04Speaker 5: play guard. Will Campbell had some iffy moments in this
- 18:08Speaker 5: one as well, in the run game, you know, backside
- 18:10Speaker 5: cutoffs and things like that. So this is it's not
- 18:14Speaker 5: one person, it never is. But across the board, they
- 18:18Speaker 5: had some rough reps of run blocking in this game
- 18:21Speaker 5: that they're going to have to clean up. But you know,
- 18:23Speaker 5: like the big thing here, and then you know, I
- 18:25Speaker 5: have there's obviously things to work on defensively, but like
- 18:28Speaker 5: these are first world problems again, Oh like this isn't
- 18:31Speaker 5: like they're only going to win four games because they
- 18:34Speaker 5: can't run block, Like this is.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Like you'd rather have the problem now be running rather
- 18:38Speaker 2: than passing.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Oh absolutely, Yeah.
- 18:40Speaker 5: They're four and two, so like they're not losing games
- 18:43Speaker 5: because of this necessarily, But the run blocking is an issue.
- 18:47Speaker 5: I mean, they get down on the goal line, they
- 18:49Speaker 5: have two runs from like the two yard line, they
- 18:51Speaker 5: get nowhere they go backwards actually on the penalty right,
- 18:55Speaker 5: So you know, you just can't you can't have those
- 18:57Speaker 5: kinds of runs.
- 18:58Speaker 1: You know.
- 18:58Speaker 2: And then I also think I truly believe that Remandre's mind,
- 19:03Speaker 2: you know, about protecting the ball effects is running that.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, I think there's probably a little too to that.
- 19:09Speaker 3: But the numbers for Henderson aren't any good either, So
- 19:13Speaker 3: I think what Evan's talking about is valid. I mean,
- 19:16Speaker 3: that's he's breaking it down. Mike and I just using
- 19:19Speaker 3: sort of the eyeball test during the course of the game,
- 19:21Speaker 3: because there was you know, I'm not suggesting that you
- 19:24Speaker 3: were one of these guys, but there was this notion
- 19:26Speaker 3: that it's the blocking's fine, it's all on the backs,
- 19:29Speaker 3: like you know, the EPA is. You know this, and
- 19:31Speaker 3: I know Henderson in particular, I think has a negative EPA,
- 19:35Speaker 3: one of the worst in the league. There have been opportunities,
- 19:39Speaker 3: I think individually with big plays like they might have
- 19:42Speaker 3: like a twelve yard run where it's there and a
- 19:45Speaker 3: guy's missing a cut or not seeing it right and
- 19:48Speaker 3: not maximizing a big play, and I know that can
- 19:50Speaker 3: skew the numbers. I don't think there's been a ton
- 19:53Speaker 3: of that. I think there's been a lot. Now, this
- 19:55Speaker 3: might have been the worst game to Evans point. He
- 19:56Speaker 3: has the numbers, so I'm going to trust him. Where
- 19:59Speaker 3: they have the atration, like.
- 20:00Speaker 5: Yeaheen yards before contact for the entire game.
- 20:05Speaker 3: You go on that that goal line, you know, sequence again,
- 20:09Speaker 3: so it's first and goal from the two. Right, you
- 20:12Speaker 3: got a one yard run, maybe even inside the one,
- 20:14Speaker 3: nothing wrong with that, and a goal line, good tough run.
- 20:17Speaker 3: The next one you lose three yards and they had
- 20:19Speaker 3: no shot, They had no chance on that. It was
- 20:22Speaker 3: one of those I think, you know, like if you
- 20:24Speaker 3: go back and look, I think we were talking about
- 20:27Speaker 3: Godja like pointing like he's.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Like Wilson find up off the line like you could.
- 20:32Speaker 1: I don't know if they're tipping it.
- 20:33Speaker 3: You know, the inexperience that picked you know that tipping
- 20:36Speaker 3: the power or whatever the play is going to be.
- 20:39Speaker 3: I don't want to get too much in ex of those,
- 20:40Speaker 3: that's not my thing. But like it just looks like
- 20:42Speaker 3: they know what's coming. Yeah, and that's not the running
- 20:45Speaker 3: back's fault. I know he's he probably is trading on
- 20:49Speaker 3: old the ball. But no, no, this was this was like
- 20:51Speaker 3: a narrative last week that suddenly developed.
- 20:54Speaker 5: Because the metrics are you know, back that up for
- 20:57Speaker 5: the first five weeks of the season. Your eyes don't, okay,
- 21:00Speaker 5: but I'm just I'm not telling you that the run
- 21:02Speaker 5: blocking was fantastic. I'm telling you I said definitely wasn't
- 21:07Speaker 5: on that ye're blocking about the first five weeks of
- 21:11Speaker 5: the season. And still like the Patriots right now are
- 21:13Speaker 5: thirty second in the league and yards after contact generated
- 21:16Speaker 5: by their running backs, so the worst tackle breaking running
- 21:19Speaker 5: back group in the league.
- 21:20Speaker 3: It's not a very explosive, so they don't break. Henderson
- 21:22Speaker 3: has been running right into tacklers. I mean, I think
- 21:25Speaker 3: that's active, they don't.
- 21:25Speaker 5: Break any tackles, they don't add any yards onto the blocking.
- 21:29Speaker 5: So in this game, I'm not this game was separate
- 21:31Speaker 5: like this gamestand what you're saying. The first five weeks
- 21:34Speaker 5: of the season, I think they should have been the
- 21:37Speaker 5: twentieth best run blocking running team instead of the thirty second.
- 21:40Speaker 5: So I can live with that, right, they were talking
- 21:43Speaker 5: about and what we deal with this, like you know, oh,
- 21:46Speaker 5: this yard is all over the field, just the running
- 21:49Speaker 5: backs of the problem.
- 21:49Speaker 1: You got to get rid of Stevenson.
- 21:50Speaker 5: It's like the running backs are a problem, to be clear,
- 21:53Speaker 5: a problem, not the problem.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Yeah, agreed, but the right they just explained it perfectly.
- 21:57Speaker 5: I think they need more from the running game, and
- 22:00Speaker 5: they need more from the running backs. Like I get it,
- 22:02Speaker 5: he's fumbled the ball three times, he fumbled it seven
- 22:05Speaker 5: times last year. It's in his head. And I totally
- 22:07Speaker 5: understand that with Ramandre Stevenson. But you know, they they
- 22:10Speaker 5: can't really get away with this, like they just don't
- 22:13Speaker 5: have enough production on the ground and they don't break
- 22:16Speaker 5: any tackles. So like when you look at the great
- 22:18Speaker 5: running backs, are the guys that are adding yards to
- 22:21Speaker 5: what's blocked because.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Barkley, like Christian McCaffrey.
- 22:27Speaker 5: Those guys are breaking tackles, they're making guys miss, they're
- 22:30Speaker 5: seeing cutback lanes and setting up blocks to make blocks
- 22:34Speaker 5: better to ten. Yeah, and they just don't get that
- 22:39Speaker 5: out of their backs. But you know, the other thing
- 22:41Speaker 5: that I think really stood out to me in this
- 22:43Speaker 5: one was just a little bit with the rookies, Like
- 22:47Speaker 5: I just I didn't really think either rookie run blocked
- 22:50Speaker 5: particularly well. I think in particular, you know, Jared Wilson
- 22:54Speaker 5: was rough. Uh, And so I think that there's room
- 22:59Speaker 5: to grow for both of those guys significantly. And you know,
- 23:05Speaker 5: well it's just like, yeah, I think there's room to girl.
- 23:08Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 23:08Speaker 4: I mean I've noticed these games over my career now
- 23:11Speaker 4: of like like there's certain games where it's like a
- 23:14Speaker 4: pot pourri of whose turn is it to make a
- 23:16Speaker 4: mistake this time? You know, and it's like it's never
- 23:18Speaker 4: just one thing that you point to and you're like, man,
- 23:20Speaker 4: just you know the left tackle, Like it was like
- 23:22Speaker 4: one of those games where it's like and now you're
- 23:24Speaker 4: going to screw up, and now this guy who hasn't
- 23:26Speaker 4: screwed up, he's going to screw up. You know, like
- 23:28Speaker 4: I've seen those games before and that's why I have
- 23:30Speaker 4: a little bit of hope along with like not breaking
- 23:32Speaker 4: tackles like that feeds into me to the verable thing
- 23:35Speaker 4: of stop worrying about fumbling, Like you got to just
- 23:37Speaker 4: try to get away from guys. You can't just the
- 23:39Speaker 4: second somebody's going to hit you and crumble. You know,
- 23:42Speaker 4: hopefully they get some confidence maybe like they do start.
- 23:45Speaker 3: An example of that where I would say Evans analysis
- 23:48Speaker 3: is is on with the third and seven.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Draw that we all hated.
- 23:52Speaker 3: Yeah, in the first half of the one drive in
- 23:55Speaker 3: the first half that resulted in no points third and
- 23:58Speaker 3: seven draw, Like there's not a lot of contact there,
- 24:02Speaker 3: and like Stevenson just goes down.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Oh okay, but.
- 24:08Speaker 5: Like you know, stay on your feet. But yeah, it
- 24:11Speaker 5: just it's tough to watch their run game at times
- 24:13Speaker 5: because if it's situationally good, then I think you can
- 24:17Speaker 5: get away with it. If they're good in short yardage,
- 24:19Speaker 5: if they're good on the goal line, like those types
- 24:22Speaker 5: of things.
- 24:22Speaker 3: The second iteration of the dynasty basically was that it
- 24:26Speaker 3: was a Brady heavy offense, but when it was formulted offense,
- 24:30Speaker 3: they could grind out first downs when it's goal to
- 24:32Speaker 3: goal situations, they could run it in with Garrett Blunt
- 24:35Speaker 3: and those kinds of guys. You know, now, situationally it's
- 24:40Speaker 3: all on May like you're third and eleven because you
- 24:44Speaker 3: can't run the ball at all at the end of
- 24:46Speaker 3: the game. Well, now, fortunately May's played at such a
- 24:48Speaker 3: high level it hasn't mattered.
- 24:49Speaker 2: So it's as Evan said, it's first world problems. And
- 24:53Speaker 2: you know that's a developing story the run game. But
- 24:56Speaker 2: right now the big story is Drake may Uh is
- 25:01Speaker 2: amazing as we started the thing. And the other development
- 25:06Speaker 2: is Efton Chisholm returning kicks.
- 25:08Speaker 1: He's just one make a step away.
- 25:10Speaker 2: He's one step away from getting in there.
- 25:13Speaker 1: He got two snaps on offense, both kneel downs. He
- 25:17Speaker 1: want him there on.
- 25:18Speaker 4: Those neil downs just so no one could we need it,
- 25:21Speaker 4: just so no one could say we're going to see
- 25:23Speaker 4: him on offense.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Yes, they say, what you did?
- 25:25Speaker 2: And I think he looked adequate returning kicks he got
- 25:28Speaker 2: up there.
- 25:29Speaker 5: You know, it's a Rabel's talked a lot about wanting
- 25:32Speaker 5: that play to be like a weapon for them. Without Henderson,
- 25:35Speaker 5: it's not going to be a weapon. Like if they
- 25:37Speaker 5: don't have Henderson and Gibson back there. Gibson Gibson's hurt,
- 25:41Speaker 5: so obviously he's not going to be back there.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Now.
- 25:44Speaker 5: It's more like, can we get the thirty yard line
- 25:45Speaker 5: and not turn it over? And I guess that's just
- 25:48Speaker 5: the world that they're gonna have, not.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Turning it over. Yeah, yeah, fifteen fouls all right, and
- 25:54Speaker 1: we did hit seventeen foul walls.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Good stuff, good stuff, all right?
- 25:59Speaker 8: Anything else before we turn over to talk about the
- 26:02Speaker 8: defense a little bit because I, you know, Ivan after
- 26:05Speaker 8: further review and you know, and I and it's uh
- 26:08Speaker 8: interesting to me.
- 26:09Speaker 4: Because you know, we said Spencer Ratler completes a lot
- 26:11Speaker 4: of passes, and you know, really, my my impression was,
- 26:14Speaker 4: I I started things off with giving Spencer Ratler some credit.
- 26:17Speaker 1: I thought, you know, I didn't the pressure numbers were weird.
- 26:19Speaker 4: I mean, by what next Gen said, this was like
- 26:22Speaker 4: the best Patriots pressure game of the whole season, which,
- 26:24Speaker 4: you know, to Paul's eyeball test, didn't really totally jive
- 26:27Speaker 4: with me. But I do think that Spencer Ratler did
- 26:30Speaker 4: a good job of navigating quickly and getting the ball
- 26:33Speaker 4: out quickly, and you know, My impression, and Evan wrote
- 26:36Speaker 4: about it too, is you know, it seemed like we're
- 26:39Speaker 4: going to give some cushion. We're not going to get
- 26:41Speaker 4: beat over the top by these fast guys, and we're
- 26:43Speaker 4: just gonna come up and see if Spencer Ratler can
- 26:45Speaker 4: continually execute and complete passes and not make mistakes. And
- 26:49Speaker 4: I kind of think he did, you know, and it's
- 26:51Speaker 4: it's they completed a lot, and you know what, for
- 26:53Speaker 4: me watching the tape, it's just frustrating because it's.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Like, you know, what do you do? Do you do
- 26:57Speaker 1: you press them more? Do you try to live the sword,
- 27:00Speaker 1: die by the sword and be.
- 27:01Speaker 4: Willing to give up some big plays but try to
- 27:03Speaker 4: take away the But it seemed right off the bat
- 27:06Speaker 4: they wanted.
- 27:06Speaker 2: To blitz him pressures that he's been doing this. This
- 27:10Speaker 2: wasn't like an outlier for him. His completion even.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Better than it's been.
- 27:15Speaker 3: But I agree with Mike. I was expecting a lot
- 27:17Speaker 3: of little dump offs and checkdowns.
- 27:19Speaker 1: I was.
- 27:20Speaker 3: I'm with Mike. I was impressed with Rattler in this game.
- 27:23Speaker 3: I thought he played well. I thought he got the
- 27:24Speaker 3: ball down the field. But Patriots had three plays. I mean,
- 27:28Speaker 3: I'm sorry, four players of twenty one or more yards.
- 27:32Speaker 1: The Saints had three. Yeah, let me ask you question.
- 27:34Speaker 1: I was surprised by that.
- 27:35Speaker 5: I thought it was going to be checked down city
- 27:36Speaker 5: without when I saw his completion percentage in the yards
- 27:39Speaker 5: Chrysal Lovey was averaging like seven yards of catch.
- 27:42Speaker 1: He was in this game. He averaged sixteen in this game,
- 27:45Speaker 1: and he dropped three passes. He might have averaged way
- 27:47Speaker 1: more than that. For next Gen, he held the ball.
- 27:50Speaker 5: What constitutes the pressure, So next Gen and Pro Football
- 27:54Speaker 5: Focus do it differently. So next Gen is the tracking data.
- 27:58Speaker 5: They use the chips and the pads for proximity to
- 28:00Speaker 5: the quarterback. Which is why I don't really love it,
- 28:02Speaker 5: because because like you have if you're on the other
- 28:05Speaker 5: side of the offensive lineman but you're getting you know,
- 28:08Speaker 5: walked back.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Yeah, you're like exactly right. So it's not as good.
- 28:11Speaker 5: Pro Football Focus, uh watches the tape and grades the
- 28:15Speaker 5: tape and sees if guys are winning, you know, be
- 28:18Speaker 5: winning their blocks. I thought that the Patriots defensive line
- 28:22Speaker 5: was pretty good in this game, and I thought that
- 28:24Speaker 5: there was you know, this is where we get into
- 28:27Speaker 5: the conversation of like what is a impactful pressure and
- 28:30Speaker 5: what's just like a drive by. Yeah, And I think
- 28:34Speaker 5: that that's where the conversation is with the coverage, is
- 28:38Speaker 5: like it's hard to get legitimate pressure on a quarterback
- 28:43Speaker 5: when he's getting the ball out in two point six
- 28:45Speaker 5: seconds because there's open receivers for him to throw the
- 28:48Speaker 5: ball to down the field. So like if you have
- 28:51Speaker 5: you know, Christian Barmer is winning, you know inside, but
- 28:55Speaker 5: Chris a Lave is wide open in a slant window
- 28:57Speaker 5: right behind him, It's like, yeah, that's a hurry. But
- 29:00Speaker 5: like it did rather really feel that pressure or not?
- 29:04Speaker 5: And I thought that was the case in a lot
- 29:06Speaker 5: of these games. Is I think like the defensive line
- 29:08Speaker 5: looks like it's primed to like kind of take over
- 29:11Speaker 5: some of these games, and they just week and they
- 29:14Speaker 5: just can't cover for long enough in the back end.
- 29:17Speaker 2: So in order to play that complimentary type of defense,
- 29:22Speaker 2: does the you know, does the coverage need to press
- 29:25Speaker 2: down a little bit more and not give so much
- 29:27Speaker 2: of a cushion.
- 29:28Speaker 5: I was so they did against Buffalo that the plan
- 29:31Speaker 5: against Buffalo is to play man to man, impress the
- 29:33Speaker 5: receivers and challenge the receivers to beat them, and and
- 29:37Speaker 5: the Patriots defense won more rounds than they lost against
- 29:41Speaker 5: the Bills. In this game, they played like seventy percent
- 29:44Speaker 5: zone coverage. Everything was in front of them. My guess
- 29:47Speaker 5: is that first play to a Lave kind of spooked
- 29:49Speaker 5: them a little bit and said, you know, maybe there's
- 29:52Speaker 5: more speed on the field. And you know, she heeds
- 29:54Speaker 5: extremely fast. A Lave is a good downfield route runner,
- 29:58Speaker 5: so that I think they backed off a little bit
- 30:00Speaker 5: this game. And I know I was getting it during
- 30:02Speaker 5: the game, like, is it are they really giving him
- 30:04Speaker 5: that much cushion because it looks like on TV that
- 30:06Speaker 5: they are, and the numbers in the film bared that out.
- 30:09Speaker 5: You know, they were giving them quite a bit of
- 30:11Speaker 5: off coverage and cushion on the outside, And just like
- 30:14Speaker 5: Deuce was saying, they kind of were just making Ratler
- 30:17Speaker 5: dice him up.
- 30:17Speaker 3: Yeah, And I, like I said, I don't want to
- 30:19Speaker 3: take that away from Rattler. I thought he threw the
- 30:23Speaker 3: ball pretty well. I think he actually threw the ball
- 30:24Speaker 3: better than his numbers would indicate. I thought he was
- 30:27Speaker 3: let down a couple of times by a Lave. I mean,
- 30:30Speaker 3: one of the biggest plays of the game was was
- 30:32Speaker 3: Chucky Trees, you know, forcing that fumble that they didn't
- 30:36Speaker 3: call a fumble because for some reason, the officials just
- 30:38Speaker 3: decided not to watch the game this week. And this
- 30:41Speaker 3: is not a Patriots or Saints thing. There were a
- 30:43Speaker 3: number of questionable calls in the game period, all over the.
- 30:47Speaker 1: Place, mostly on the Patriots.
- 30:48Speaker 3: See the ball that Charles Woods knocks out of a
- 30:52Speaker 3: lobby that was a third and seventeen and that's going
- 30:55Speaker 3: to be twenty yards and he had I mean, it
- 30:56Speaker 3: was a great, great catch by a lave, but it
- 30:59Speaker 3: was a catch in a bumble. It should have been
- 31:02Speaker 3: but that that's one of those underrated plays that that
- 31:05Speaker 3: forces a punt because he knocks the ball out and
- 31:07Speaker 3: they call it incomplete.
- 31:10Speaker 1: There was a play on the on this. I think
- 31:12Speaker 1: there was a little.
- 31:13Speaker 3: Double move that he had on Carlton Davis where Davis
- 31:15Speaker 3: had a tug them. Like, I was impressed with the Saints'
- 31:19Speaker 3: ability to get the ball downfield in this game, which
- 31:21Speaker 3: I didn't really anticipate was going to be a problem
- 31:24Speaker 3: at all. And I think Evan's right the first play
- 31:26Speaker 3: may have kind of spooked them from that point on.
- 31:29Speaker 3: And you know, I give the Patriots defense a lot
- 31:32Speaker 3: of credit for two things one. The red zone defense
- 31:35Speaker 3: has been an issue for most of the season. It
- 31:38Speaker 3: was excellent in this game. They came up with a
- 31:40Speaker 3: number of stops and forced field goals and I'm not
- 31:43Speaker 3: you know, maybe some of them weren't technically in the
- 31:45Speaker 3: red zone, but they were red zone adjacent. Now I
- 31:47Speaker 3: think they had at least I think they had at
- 31:49Speaker 3: least three that were in the red zone that they
- 31:51Speaker 3: came they forced field goals on. And the other thing
- 31:55Speaker 3: is this is now becoming a pattern. They did it
- 31:58Speaker 3: against Miami, they did it to a lesser extent against Buffalo,
- 32:02Speaker 3: forcing the field goal to tie rather than the touchdown
- 32:04Speaker 3: to go ahead. And then in this game when they
- 32:06Speaker 3: had to come up with plays defensively, they were able
- 32:09Speaker 3: to do it. Now they got a little fortunate in
- 32:11Speaker 3: this one that Lobby drops a second down pass that
- 32:14Speaker 3: somehow Adam AlCH Archoletta said he was not quite able
- 32:17Speaker 3: to get his hands on, even though it hit him.
- 32:18Speaker 1: In both hands.
- 32:21Speaker 3: But they got that stop. The previous play a good
- 32:24Speaker 3: punch out by Christian Ellis on a play in Patriots territory.
- 32:29Speaker 3: The Saints are moving on that Juwan Johnson pass. Nice
- 32:32Speaker 3: punch out there, so situational. I think the Patriots defense
- 32:35Speaker 3: has been pretty good. And we might look at the
- 32:38Speaker 3: numbers and say, well, you know, it seems like the
- 32:40Speaker 3: other teams moving they are, but when it counts, the
- 32:43Speaker 3: Patriots are making the plays.
- 32:45Speaker 2: And you mentioned situationally, isn't it nice to have a
- 32:47Speaker 2: coach who you know, knows the situation and you know
- 32:52Speaker 2: can throw a red flag in this type of situation?
- 32:56Speaker 1: That is key.
- 32:57Speaker 2: I mean that late challenge was that ended the game?
- 33:01Speaker 1: That ended the game?
- 33:03Speaker 4: The game anyway, argument with Joe Murray and the postgame
- 33:06Speaker 4: show about that, all right, what was the what was
- 33:09Speaker 4: the argument?
- 33:09Speaker 1: Well, Joe said, you know, what do you think of
- 33:11Speaker 1: that play? It effectively ended you know what, it basically
- 33:13Speaker 1: ended the game? Was how big was that play? And
- 33:15Speaker 1: he was the protector was like, well, I don't know, I.
- 33:17Speaker 4: Mean they you know it was then then he's laid
- 33:19Speaker 4: off like what it would have been when they would
- 33:21Speaker 4: have gotten the ball back with like forty seconds.
- 33:23Speaker 3: I mean, the game was over the way, but it
- 33:25Speaker 3: officially allowed them to just take mews in the clock
- 33:27Speaker 3: was going to run out.
- 33:28Speaker 5: Right, Yeah, last couple of years of games never any credit,
- 33:32Speaker 5: but a couple of couple I didn't take.
- 33:34Speaker 1: I talk about better, but I was going to say
- 33:38Speaker 1: Mark thought Marcus Jones was excellent again in this game,
- 33:41Speaker 1: really two straight games. Excellent as a defensive running back
- 33:43Speaker 1: all over the proving, I mean, blitzing, covering guys, three
- 33:48Speaker 1: big third down plays I think he was involved in
- 33:50Speaker 1: for stops.
- 33:51Speaker 4: And Christianell has showing a little bit too. I mean
- 33:53Speaker 4: not not just the you know, the the force fumble,
- 33:56Speaker 4: but you know, getting hands on the ball like you know, around.
- 33:58Speaker 1: Several ties here. I actually thought he made two good plays.
- 34:02Speaker 5: I thought you were you were on a good track,
- 34:04Speaker 5: Marcus Jes right.
- 34:07Speaker 1: Stick with Marcus Jones. Yeah about the finger way, he
- 34:11Speaker 1: made a couple of plays.
- 34:13Speaker 5: He did get it and he did make a couple
- 34:14Speaker 5: of plays.
- 34:15Speaker 1: I'll give him. Marcus Jones, Oh is your guy? I
- 34:22Speaker 1: was pretty good?
- 34:23Speaker 9: He is.
- 34:24Speaker 1: I thought Farmer had a couple of reps. Yeah, Farmer.
- 34:27Speaker 5: They've been grading. I mean the run defense has been great.
- 34:29Speaker 5: This is it's a weird defense because the numbers, uh
- 34:34Speaker 5: you know, yards, efficiency metrics, you know, passer rating allowed,
- 34:37Speaker 5: like they're not good. And then they're only giving up
- 34:40Speaker 5: twenty points a game, which is seventh in the league.
- 34:42Speaker 5: So they're the seventh ranked scoring defense in the NFL,
- 34:45Speaker 5: but they're twenty fifth and passer rating allowed, Like those
- 34:48Speaker 5: things don't normally go what it is.
- 34:51Speaker 4: It's like Pauls thing like Paul said about like the
- 34:52Speaker 4: Patriots could situationally just run the ball when they needed to.
- 34:55Speaker 1: It's almost like the defense is kind of like that.
- 34:57Speaker 1: I feel like too, where when they need to get
- 34:59Speaker 1: the stop or they need to get you know.
- 35:00Speaker 5: They make it second halves too, like they've they've done
- 35:04Speaker 5: a nice job of adjusting three points in the second half. Yeah,
- 35:07Speaker 5: and they really got rather back down to earth in
- 35:11Speaker 5: the second half of this game statistically too. But they
- 35:14Speaker 5: came out in the first quarter and they have the
- 35:16Speaker 5: Saints were averaging like nine yards of play. You know,
- 35:19Speaker 5: they were just going right down the field on them.
- 35:20Speaker 5: And then they tightened up in the red zone. They
- 35:23Speaker 5: forced field goals and they keep the scoring down. But yeah,
- 35:26Speaker 5: you know, they're they're not good in terms of their
- 35:28Speaker 5: past defense, Like statistically it's not good, but then you
- 35:31Speaker 5: look up and they only have nineteen points. So it's
- 35:34Speaker 5: I don't know, I never know what to make of
- 35:35Speaker 5: defense is like that.
- 35:36Speaker 3: This one was the big football math game, like they
- 35:39Speaker 3: just kept forcing field goals and the Patriots got touchdowns
- 35:43Speaker 3: and that was the difference.
- 35:44Speaker 1: This was a sinky part of me. That's like, you know, wondering, pondering.
- 35:47Speaker 4: We've seen some Patriots defenses in the past that would
- 35:50Speaker 4: just absolutely dominate the crappy teams and the meaningless downs,
- 35:55Speaker 4: and then you know when they get into a tough
- 35:57Speaker 4: game I'm talking about twenty nineteen where they really need
- 35:59Speaker 4: to have it, like they can't do it. You know,
- 36:01Speaker 4: is this defense maybe not the opposite, but a weird,
- 36:05Speaker 4: demented version of that where it's.
- 36:06Speaker 3: Like they know when they played a tough teams, right,
- 36:08Speaker 3: I mean, they passed the first.
- 36:11Speaker 4: And that's why I don't really want to like, you know,
- 36:13Speaker 4: stake my flag and it's just yet. But it's almost
- 36:15Speaker 4: like I feel great, like third and seven end of
- 36:18Speaker 4: the game, like they need to have it.
- 36:19Speaker 1: I feel great about the Patriots defense.
- 36:21Speaker 4: Whereas you know, third and five middle of the game,
- 36:24Speaker 4: like I don't they're probably gonna get that.
- 36:25Speaker 3: I'd be happy if it was third and five at
- 36:27Speaker 3: the beginning of the game. They don't get it down.
- 36:29Speaker 3: That's these games, you know, what you want to know
- 36:31Speaker 3: one of Mike's big thumbs down was after this game
- 36:34Speaker 3: second down defense, but that was.
- 36:36Speaker 4: Kind of like it was a weird and then looking
- 36:38Speaker 4: back on it, it was also connected to the first
- 36:39Speaker 4: down defense.
- 36:40Speaker 1: The first and second down. Like their run defense is good,
- 36:43Speaker 1: they're getting to the field on third down.
- 36:44Speaker 5: But you know, they don't start well on defense. And
- 36:48Speaker 5: if you want to point, you can point to any
- 36:50Speaker 5: one thing you know, is a game plan?
- 36:52Speaker 7: Is it?
- 36:53Speaker 5: You know, getting getting guys ready to play, which I
- 36:55Speaker 5: think is cliche and corny, but like whatever it is
- 36:58Speaker 5: that is making struggled, They've basically struggled in the first
- 37:02Speaker 5: quarter defensively of every single game.
- 37:04Speaker 1: I agree.
- 37:04Speaker 3: I think the other team has had a better plan
- 37:06Speaker 3: to start the game. And now give the Patriots staff
- 37:09Speaker 3: a lot of credit. I think, like Evan said, they've
- 37:12Speaker 3: adjusted and they've it's definitely been better as the game
- 37:14Speaker 3: has gone on.
- 37:15Speaker 5: These defenses remind me a little bit of the Patricia defenses.
- 37:18Speaker 5: And I know I'm going to say that and people
- 37:19Speaker 5: are going to freak out, but like the ben.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Don't break and like the you know defenses like that, yeah,
- 37:27Speaker 1: se And that's what it reminds me of them. Not
- 37:29Speaker 1: a little Russian three.
- 37:30Speaker 3: If you can tell me that they'll continue to be
- 37:32Speaker 3: good situationally like they have been, then I think this
- 37:36Speaker 3: is really good defense in the modern.
- 37:37Speaker 1: And right, that's right, That's kind of what I was
- 37:39Speaker 1: getting at.
- 37:39Speaker 3: That's that's why, to Devin's point, they're sitting at twenty
- 37:42Speaker 3: points allowed in top what the seventh seventh time, because
- 37:46Speaker 3: they're able to make the plays and the key downs.
- 37:48Speaker 3: I think the days of a defense just going out
- 37:50Speaker 3: there and two thousand Baltimore Ravens and you know, throwing their.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Ray Lewis on the field dominating.
- 37:58Speaker 3: I don't think you see a lot of teams do
- 38:00Speaker 3: that stuff anymore, not against good offense in anyway.
- 38:03Speaker 4: Seattle, I watched a little that Seattle game against Jacksonville
- 38:06Speaker 4: and they have a very good defense.
- 38:08Speaker 1: So that's one defense that I jumps off the field consistently,
- 38:11Speaker 1: just all over the place.
- 38:13Speaker 5: It would just be nice to see it better some
- 38:15Speaker 5: one start, like start hot one one week.
- 38:18Speaker 1: But I think we want to get a lot were
- 38:20Speaker 1: trying to do. We're going to get a lot of
- 38:21Speaker 1: things that were looking I mean it's not Wednesday yet.
- 38:23Speaker 1: I'm not ready to move ahead, but I think you
- 38:25Speaker 1: can get waiting for it tomorrow.
- 38:29Speaker 2: But I think against the Saints they wanted to start
- 38:32Speaker 2: fast on defense and then they got.
- 38:33Speaker 1: Burned butts getting into this game offensive twenty third down there.
- 38:38Speaker 5: Yeah, It's just the defense thing is kind of breaking
- 38:42Speaker 5: my brain a little bit because, like all the metrics
- 38:44Speaker 5: suggests they should be a bad defense, but they're not
- 38:47Speaker 5: giving up a ton of points. And like I said,
- 38:50Speaker 5: it reminds me a lot of those Patricia Belichick defenses
- 38:53Speaker 5: that just were good situationally and good when it counted
- 38:55Speaker 5: and you know, made plays, but like they have some
- 38:58Speaker 5: issues and.
- 38:59Speaker 3: It's not like forcing a ton of turnovers and that's
- 39:02Speaker 3: keeping points off the board. You know, I mean turn
- 39:05Speaker 3: over here or there. You know the Buffalo game, that
- 39:07Speaker 3: was a big part of the game, but it wasn't
- 39:09Speaker 3: a big part of this game.
- 39:11Speaker 4: You know, who else I like to have in this
- 39:12Speaker 4: one was Woodson, Like I just you know, I just
- 39:16Speaker 4: seeing the contrast of him and Kyle Dugger and Craig.
- 39:19Speaker 4: Woodson seems like a natural free safety who sees the
- 39:23Speaker 4: game from that position. He knows how to come down
- 39:26Speaker 4: and navigate traffic and get to guys, and you know,
- 39:29Speaker 4: nothing against Kyle Dugger. I think he's a little bit
- 39:31Speaker 4: more suited to play in the old style and play
- 39:33Speaker 4: in the box. But you know, just you could see
- 39:35Speaker 4: some of the recognition stuff with Craig Woodson where it
- 39:37Speaker 4: clicks and he's got a path to the ball and
- 39:39Speaker 4: he goes and he's a sound tackler, and you know,
- 39:41Speaker 4: Dougger sometimes still seems like he's kind of lost in
- 39:44Speaker 4: space a little bit, you know, get running into guys
- 39:47Speaker 4: that kind of thing. But I think it's hard to
- 39:49Speaker 4: tell for me, like watching the game on TV, to
- 39:52Speaker 4: really evaluate a free safety, especially because most of the
- 39:55Speaker 4: time Woodson's out of the frame when we're watching him.
- 39:56Speaker 4: But there's one guy when I go back and watch,
- 39:58Speaker 4: it's just he's he's smooth, you know, the kind of
- 40:01Speaker 4: like Darron Harmon a little bit, you know, just looks
- 40:03Speaker 4: comfortable on the back end, reads the play well, comes down,
- 40:06Speaker 4: makes happen.
- 40:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:07Speaker 5: I thought last week he was sort of flashing a
- 40:10Speaker 5: little bit more in the game against Buffalo. I really
- 40:15Speaker 5: like his play speed. I think he plays fast and
- 40:18Speaker 5: I think he plays hard. Now sometimes they got to
- 40:21Speaker 5: get him pointed in the right direction, and like any rookie,
- 40:23Speaker 5: you know that that's really the main thing. But in
- 40:26Speaker 5: this game, I think he had three or four run stuffs,
- 40:29Speaker 5: He had a pressure on a blitz, stayed over the
- 40:31Speaker 5: top of a couple vertical routes as deep help. But
- 40:34Speaker 5: I thought this was his best game, and he looks
- 40:36Speaker 5: like he's starting to understand his role in the big
- 40:39Speaker 5: picture and now all that kind of stuff a lot more.
- 40:42Speaker 5: So I'm encouraged by him. But they're still getting you know,
- 40:46Speaker 5: they still have issues in between the numbers in the
- 40:48Speaker 5: middle of the field. Like you know, defending passes through
- 40:51Speaker 5: the middle of the field is still the weakest part
- 40:53Speaker 5: of the defense. Like I know that Davis Gonzo gave
- 40:57Speaker 5: up a few in this game, but they're really not
- 40:59Speaker 5: getting torch too bad most weeks, you know, like they're
- 41:03Speaker 5: one catch or two catches a game for both those guys.
- 41:06Speaker 5: It's those inbreaking routes through the middle of the field
- 41:08Speaker 5: that I are killing them.
- 41:09Speaker 1: I just you know, one more point I want to
- 41:11Speaker 1: make about it.
- 41:11Speaker 4: Watching this defense now, so much talk about the safeties
- 41:14Speaker 4: and how they're going to use them, and you know,
- 41:16Speaker 4: it is definitely way different, but they still use these
- 41:19Speaker 4: guys blitzing, dropping coming up on the line covering.
- 41:23Speaker 1: I mean, they do everything.
- 41:25Speaker 4: It's it just seems like it's going to be a
- 41:26Speaker 4: really key position for them to figure out going forward,
- 41:29Speaker 4: but also just such a critical one that these guys
- 41:32Speaker 4: could really make a difference in this team, especially if
- 41:34Speaker 4: you know Woodson elevates it to another level here, you know,
- 41:37Speaker 4: as he continues to progress.
- 41:39Speaker 1: All right.
- 41:39Speaker 2: Eight five to five Pats five hundred is the hotline
- 41:42Speaker 2: podcasts at Patriots dot com. It's the way to email us.
- 41:45Speaker 2: I see a lot of emails coming in. The phones
- 41:48Speaker 2: are are jacked up, So let's let's get to see
- 41:51Speaker 2: what you have to say about this edition of the Patriots.
- 41:56Speaker 2: Todd's in North Carolina. What's up Todd?
- 42:00Speaker 10: Hey guys, what in a wonderful time to have a show.
- 42:03Speaker 10: So that's going to lead into my three points, and
- 42:05Speaker 10: I will take your answers off the air. Number One,
- 42:08Speaker 10: I think everyone's going to be giving us their best shot.
- 42:10Speaker 10: They do not want to see the Patriots back being relevant.
- 42:15Speaker 10: Number I think the sneaky need is not running back.
- 42:18Speaker 10: But I think we need to figure out our linebackers.
- 42:20Speaker 10: I don't know if we have to get somebody in
- 42:22Speaker 10: or change what we were doing, but that feels like
- 42:23Speaker 10: the big And finally, what did the Pats have to
- 42:26Speaker 10: do till we till we get back to twelve hours
- 42:29Speaker 10: of programming each week instead of the eightish we got
- 42:31Speaker 10: right now? And that's guys, what does.
- 42:34Speaker 2: He mean by that twelve hours of program instead of eight?
- 42:38Speaker 1: I don't know anyway.
- 42:41Speaker 5: Linebackers, Yeah, I think Chrispolane has sort of settled down
- 42:46Speaker 5: and his run his run defense is really really good
- 42:49Speaker 5: and he's doing what he's supposed to do. There they
- 42:52Speaker 5: don't cover particularly well, and that's still a problem for
- 42:56Speaker 5: the group as a whole. So yeah, I mean next year,
- 43:00Speaker 5: a guy next to Splaine who can really cover and
- 43:03Speaker 5: and you know play in the past game and that
- 43:06Speaker 5: sort of thing I think is at the top of
- 43:08Speaker 5: the list to maybe upgrade that Ellis Jack Gibbons spot.
- 43:13Speaker 5: They played a lot more bass the last couple of
- 43:15Speaker 5: weeks too, so they've had, you know, three true linebackers.
- 43:18Speaker 5: With Tavai coming back, they've done a little bit more
- 43:20Speaker 5: of that. Uh So I could see them wanting to
- 43:23Speaker 5: We've been talking about it for what five years that
- 43:26Speaker 5: they need a linebacker that can cover.
- 43:28Speaker 1: So they still need that.
- 43:30Speaker 5: That's still need.
- 43:31Speaker 1: Christians in LA. What's up, Christian?
- 43:34Speaker 11: You know what souff we are in? Can you guys
- 43:37Speaker 11: stay with me? First place in the division?
- 43:40Speaker 1: Yeah, it's week six, but just to.
- 43:45Speaker 11: See the Patriots first place of division means something to
- 43:49Speaker 11: us fans that have been flogging around for the last
- 43:51Speaker 11: five years waiting for something good to happen. I'm gonna
- 43:54Speaker 11: take it.
- 43:55Speaker 1: I agree, this is the best.
- 43:57Speaker 11: This is the best that we've been in five years.
- 43:59Speaker 11: I love that we're play quick point on on the
- 44:03Speaker 11: guys and how they're how they're playing. I think they've
- 44:05Speaker 11: bought in the Vaible system, and I absolutely think that
- 44:08Speaker 11: we can come out of this October seven and two.
- 44:11Speaker 11: I'll take it off the air. Good to be a
- 44:13Speaker 11: pass fan.
- 44:13Speaker 1: Guys, huh okay. I do this little trick.
- 44:16Speaker 2: I always look at how many they have left into
- 44:19Speaker 2: They have eleven games left. They're four and two, So
- 44:21Speaker 2: if they go like five hundred with the eleven, let's
- 44:24Speaker 2: say six and five, that's ten wins.
- 44:26Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, yeah, that's so like. But how many
- 44:29Speaker 1: games in October do they have left?
- 44:30Speaker 5: I think three? Right is the Atlanta game technically in October.
- 44:33Speaker 1: So they could come out with Tennessee seven and two,
- 44:36Speaker 1: Cleveland five, or anything in between. Yeah.
- 44:40Speaker 2: I mean, if you look at the schedule, a lot
- 44:41Speaker 2: of these games that early on we owe Giants.
- 44:43Speaker 1: That's a win.
- 44:44Speaker 2: Giants are playing better, Cleveland could be a tough out,
- 44:48Speaker 2: Atlanta's playing better.
- 44:49Speaker 1: The schedule is good.
- 44:51Speaker 3: Yeah, Like their quarterback is just developing. So I think
- 44:54Speaker 3: people think the Patriots.
- 44:55Speaker 1: Will win that game.
- 44:56Speaker 5: But they have a lot of talent, but they have
- 44:58Speaker 5: absolutely you know lasts, So a.
- 45:02Speaker 2: Lot of these games that you thought were pushover as folks,
- 45:05Speaker 2: they're not. They're not. So let's not get ahead of ourselves.
- 45:09Speaker 1: I do think this one is.
- 45:14Speaker 3: I think it's going to be cland I do not
- 45:17Speaker 3: think is going to be a push I disagree.
- 45:19Speaker 5: I mean, I don't see how Cleveland's offense is going
- 45:20Speaker 5: to score.
- 45:21Speaker 2: That's probably why the Pictures win. They go, but they
- 45:24Speaker 2: get into rock fights with teams.
- 45:25Speaker 3: I think, like you look at the games they just
- 45:27Speaker 3: they just played at Pittsburgh and it was kind of
- 45:30Speaker 3: one of those kinds of games and I think Rogers
- 45:32Speaker 3: had his best game of the year, and and you
- 45:34Speaker 3: know they kind of put it away late.
- 45:36Speaker 1: With a touchdown against the Jets.
- 45:38Speaker 2: Well, I just let's not get ahead over our skis
- 45:42Speaker 2: here what I mean, now, these these teams can be
- 45:47Speaker 2: tougher than you think of. The Jets look pretty bad though,
- 45:50Speaker 2: but okay, so no, that's a good point. Jets in
- 45:53Speaker 2: Miami look really bad right now. But in any season
- 45:56Speaker 2: it was tough to run the table in your own division.
- 45:59Speaker 3: I would rarely even that. Like, Miami looks really bad.
- 46:03Speaker 3: Miami had to leave with thirty seconds left in the
- 46:04Speaker 3: last two games. That's right, right, So yeah, you might
- 46:07Speaker 3: win the.
- 46:08Speaker 5: Game, but I don't think you're gonna win it forty
- 46:10Speaker 5: eight to nothing the way you think they're gonna win it.
- 46:11Speaker 7: Right.
- 46:12Speaker 1: You know when I say you, I mean the Royal.
- 46:14Speaker 12: I know what you you?
- 46:15Speaker 1: Yeah, you people.
- 46:16Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't think anybody's picking them to win thirty
- 46:18Speaker 5: eight to nothing.
- 46:19Speaker 1: But like.
- 46:21Speaker 5: The Titans and the Browns are two games that are
- 46:23Speaker 5: easily should be winning.
- 46:24Speaker 1: The Titans, I don't see any possible way they lose.
- 46:27Speaker 1: I agree with you on that.
- 46:28Speaker 3: The Browns, I would give them like a ninety plus
- 46:32Speaker 3: percent chance to win. I do respect the Browns defense
- 46:36Speaker 3: and the ability of a guy like Miles Garrett to
- 46:38Speaker 3: cause problems in a game and keep it close, and
- 46:41Speaker 3: if it's close, you never know. But I would think
- 46:42Speaker 3: the Patriot should win those two games. They'll be favored,
- 46:45Speaker 3: no doubt they're going to be favored.
- 46:47Speaker 1: Yeah, thous about. I mean, they're probably going to be
- 46:49Speaker 1: favored against the.
- 46:49Speaker 5: Feltons too, once they get through the Browns and the Titans.
- 46:53Speaker 5: Like the schedule does have hard you know, like I
- 46:57Speaker 5: could easily see them going two and two in the
- 46:59Speaker 5: next four Yeah, easily.
- 47:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:01Speaker 5: But if even if they are two and two, and
- 47:02Speaker 5: then that's great.
- 47:06Speaker 2: If you go six and five or five and six,
- 47:08Speaker 2: that's nine or ten wins you finish the season, and.
- 47:11Speaker 1: If you win ten, you're gonna be in the playoffs
- 47:13Speaker 1: most likely. Yeah. Uh, let's go to Seattle. Will go
- 47:19Speaker 1: to Anthony. What's up Anthony?
- 47:22Speaker 6: Hey, it was up my people. Hey, Hey, how's my
- 47:25Speaker 6: connection today?
- 47:26Speaker 1: Sweet? Good?
- 47:27Speaker 13: Okay, good good.
- 47:28Speaker 6: I'm sorry I have my headphones on last time and
- 47:30Speaker 6: I was in the gym and anyway, hey, uh, I
- 47:33Speaker 6: love that Atlanta followed our blueprint by just giving the
- 47:36Speaker 6: bill as a healthy dose of a guy.
- 47:38Speaker 2: Named Drake, right, Drake London had a good game there.
- 47:41Speaker 6: Yeah, listen, I'll be quick today. Man, it's dude, it's
- 47:46Speaker 6: fun being a Patriots fan.
- 47:47Speaker 1: Again, I'm sorry, was it fun? Finally a camera.
- 47:51Speaker 6: I gotta tell you, everything changes, like with the quarterback
- 47:54Speaker 6: and the quarterback play and the level.
- 47:56Speaker 13: He's playing at.
- 47:57Speaker 6: I'm trying to just kind of hold surf because we're
- 47:59Speaker 6: only six games into this season. But man, it's like
- 48:02Speaker 6: the feeling I have when watching that game, and then
- 48:04Speaker 6: like I'm listening to the post game show and some
- 48:06Speaker 6: of the things you guys brought up, like.
- 48:07Speaker 13: You know, uh, the uh what is it?
- 48:10Speaker 6: The back the passing he talked, he pitched back to uh,
- 48:13Speaker 6: Treyvon Henderson, and you know, Paul's like, I mean, I'm
- 48:16Speaker 6: a little worried about that, and I'm just thinking it's fine,
- 48:19Speaker 6: you know. And then like and like the when we
- 48:21Speaker 6: didn't score, when we got down to the one yard
- 48:23Speaker 6: line and didn't score, Like in my like, as I
- 48:25Speaker 6: was watching the game, my feeling was like, oh man,
- 48:27Speaker 6: but then it was like, it's fine, we'll get Like
- 48:29Speaker 6: I didn't think those are the last points of the game.
- 48:30Speaker 6: It's just everything's like fine and good now. And it's
- 48:34Speaker 6: but Paul, I do understand what you what you mean, Yeah,
- 48:38Speaker 6: we don't want those turn into into like bad plays.
- 48:41Speaker 6: But I do feel like our margin for error or
- 48:43Speaker 6: our path is broken it down. It has increased substantially
- 48:47Speaker 6: with the emergence of our quarterback and our ability to score.
- 48:49Speaker 6: So I don't know, man' it's it's a good time
- 48:51Speaker 6: right now, go.
- 48:52Speaker 1: Ahead, thanks Anthony, it is it's good times right now. Yeah,
- 48:55Speaker 1: good times.
- 48:56Speaker 10: I know.
- 48:56Speaker 5: I think what you already asked him, if that was
- 48:58Speaker 5: a no, no, yes.
- 48:59Speaker 1: Bro Henderson.
- 49:01Speaker 5: I don't know if he got lucky or if he
- 49:03Speaker 5: saw it, but like there's no flat like they they
- 49:06Speaker 5: bust the coverage and they don't have a flat defender
- 49:08Speaker 5: on that side.
- 49:08Speaker 1: I think he got lucky.
- 49:09Speaker 3: I just don't think those are things that the coaches
- 49:11Speaker 3: would want to see on a consistent basis. And that's
- 49:13Speaker 3: three times they've seen him in the last four weeks.
- 49:15Speaker 5: Sure, I just if he is already seeing the field
- 49:19Speaker 5: so well that he's recognizing that there's nobody out there
- 49:22Speaker 5: with Henderson like, then that's like next level.
- 49:25Speaker 10: You know.
- 49:26Speaker 5: If that was the case, then I would agree with
- 49:27Speaker 5: you that he's standing there in the post skeptical, and
- 49:30Speaker 5: you know, he's looking down the field and you can
- 49:31Speaker 5: see the coverage is tilted a certain way, and like
- 49:34Speaker 5: there's just nobody out there with Henderson, so like he
- 49:37Speaker 5: even though he flips it, and I know when people
- 49:39Speaker 5: see that, I get why you're like, what is he doing.
- 49:41Speaker 1: Well to me? But there's no threat of it being
- 49:44Speaker 1: flipped it to him?
- 49:45Speaker 3: I would say, fine, he flipped it up in the
- 49:48Speaker 3: air and it just kind of floated, like even if
- 49:50Speaker 3: there's someone like I just don't know how you know
- 49:54Speaker 3: that there's no one that Like like the one the
- 49:56Speaker 3: previous week against two Diggs, there was a guy there.
- 49:59Speaker 3: If he've thrown the the same way and it floated,
- 50:01Speaker 3: that guy may have turned around and been able to
- 50:03Speaker 3: make a play on it.
- 50:04Speaker 1: Like that's what I would worry about.
- 50:06Speaker 3: And again, very similar to what he did against Pittsburgh,
- 50:09Speaker 3: gonna cost him the game, Like they're going in to
- 50:11Speaker 3: win the game and he fumbles trying to do one.
- 50:13Speaker 1: Of those plays.
- 50:14Speaker 3: So that's that's all, Like, but this is the different
- 50:18Speaker 3: The best part about this whole thing is you can
- 50:21Speaker 3: treat this team like that again, like you're starting to
- 50:24Speaker 3: talk about these little individual plays like you know, like
- 50:27Speaker 3: that was really good. He ended up making a nine
- 50:29Speaker 3: yard playout of nothing and you end up winning a game,
- 50:31Speaker 3: that's great, but you know you might be careful with that.
- 50:34Speaker 1: Whereas we used to be like, well, you know with
- 50:36Speaker 1: four and thirteen. At least that was a fun play.
- 50:38Speaker 3: You know, they made a play Like, no, you're starting
- 50:40Speaker 3: to talk about playoffs and you know, matchups and different
- 50:44Speaker 3: things down the road.
- 50:45Speaker 5: You just wonder if he needs it right, Like, yeah,
- 50:48Speaker 5: he's so good that like they'll just make it up
- 50:50Speaker 5: on the next play that they didn't hit right to
- 50:52Speaker 5: check that out.
- 50:53Speaker 2: Right, you know, drives don't stall because of one false start,
- 50:57Speaker 2: which was happening over the last two years consistently.
- 51:01Speaker 1: Yeah, no, it's fair.
- 51:02Speaker 5: I think the play in Pittsburgh, to me, is a
- 51:04Speaker 5: little bit different because he held the ball for so long.
- 51:07Speaker 5: Like these two plays, they wasn't the ball was not
- 51:10Speaker 5: you know that it was like one of those like
- 51:11Speaker 5: extended like four and a half second dropbacks. These ones
- 51:15Speaker 5: are happening faster. But I think that that's part of
- 51:19Speaker 5: his game, is he's kind of this trick shot guy
- 51:22Speaker 5: and like we're just gonna if it works.
- 51:25Speaker 7: You know.
- 51:26Speaker 5: I was watching the game, you know, the Bills game
- 51:28Speaker 5: last night with with just and some of the things
- 51:31Speaker 5: that Josh Allen does that usually works are just suddenly
- 51:34Speaker 5: are just not working as much the last couple of weeks,
- 51:37Speaker 5: like he had similar play where he rolled to his
- 51:39Speaker 5: left and he tried to flip it out. I think
- 51:41Speaker 5: it was to James Cook and it didn't get there.
- 51:44Speaker 2: It's tough when the windows, you know, closing, it's tough
- 51:48Speaker 2: to get those plays.
- 51:49Speaker 5: I've seen him do stuff like that a thousand times,
- 51:52Speaker 5: and now all of a sudden, like things aren't going
- 51:54Speaker 5: their way, and he's like.
- 51:55Speaker 1: That's what.
- 51:55Speaker 3: But these are things that Mahomes and Allen were criticized
- 51:59Speaker 3: for initially until they work more often than not. And
- 52:03Speaker 3: when May establishes that they work more often than not,
- 52:06Speaker 3: people won't talk about it as much. And when he
- 52:08Speaker 3: makes a mistake in one of those spots, you'll say,
- 52:10Speaker 3: you got to take that mistake because he just made
- 52:12Speaker 3: a hundred great plays doing that, and that's the one
- 52:14Speaker 3: that was a mistake. Do you know what I'm saying
- 52:16Speaker 3: Right now, we're just sort of learning. It's not something
- 52:20Speaker 3: I agree with everan one thousand percent. It's not something
- 52:22Speaker 3: I would criticize.
- 52:23Speaker 2: Now.
- 52:25Speaker 3: These are just things that you file away, you know,
- 52:27Speaker 3: against Washington in the preseason when everybody yelled at us
- 52:29Speaker 3: from making such a big deal out of a preseason game.
- 52:33Speaker 3: It was a fumble, holding the ball too long, trying
- 52:35Speaker 3: to make a play when it wasn't there. Against Pittsburgh,
- 52:38Speaker 3: same thing, holding the ball too long, trying to make
- 52:40Speaker 3: a play. Now you're starting to see when he holds
- 52:43Speaker 3: the ball or tries to improv and.
- 52:44Speaker 1: He is making plays. So you see the positive side
- 52:47Speaker 1: of it.
- 52:48Speaker 3: As long as that ledger ends up being more positives,
- 52:51Speaker 3: like a lot more positives. The way Mahomes and Allen
- 52:54Speaker 3: have done their whole career. Brett frev did that trap
- 52:56Speaker 3: all the time.
- 52:57Speaker 5: He's gotten so much better at the ball, security in
- 53:00Speaker 5: the pocket. He's got two hands on the ball a
- 53:02Speaker 5: lot now and he's keeping it tucked in so like
- 53:04Speaker 5: before the ball he'd be holding it out and like
- 53:07Speaker 5: the defensers, the defenders are just coming for the ball.
- 53:11Speaker 1: His clock is better and we're.
- 53:13Speaker 5: Keeping it tighter and he's not giving them those opportunities.
- 53:17Speaker 2: Dylan's in Nashville.
- 53:18Speaker 1: What's up, Dylan, Hey, how's it going good?
- 53:24Speaker 14: So the first time, medium time, the thing I want
- 53:27Speaker 14: to ask you is I love we're talking about small
- 53:30Speaker 14: ball What are the little things that you guys think
- 53:35Speaker 14: we could improve on, because you know, back when you're
- 53:38Speaker 14: a super Bowl team, we focused on the little things.
- 53:42Speaker 14: What are those, like top two or three things that
- 53:45Speaker 14: you guys want to think about. Thank you very much
- 53:47Speaker 14: for having me on.
- 53:48Speaker 2: Okay, thanks, I still little thing.
- 53:50Speaker 1: I think there's big things that they still have to
- 53:52Speaker 1: I don't know about little things.
- 53:53Speaker 5: They need to run the ball better, yeah, they needs
- 53:55Speaker 5: a big thing. You need to run the ball better, defense,
- 53:58Speaker 5: defend the pass better. They're not really defending the past
- 54:01Speaker 5: very well on defense, and I think that one of
- 54:04Speaker 5: the things defensively that just sticks out to me in
- 54:06Speaker 5: terms of that is like I kind of feel like
- 54:08Speaker 5: they don't have an identity of how they want to
- 54:11Speaker 5: cover teams right now, and they're not really like they're
- 54:13Speaker 5: not having Gonzo travel and they're not like, really, they
- 54:17Speaker 5: told us that they wanted to play cat coverage, right,
- 54:19Speaker 5: they wanted Gonzo and they wanted Carlon Davis and they
- 54:21Speaker 5: were gonna play man to man and like outside the
- 54:24Speaker 5: Bills game, that really hasn't come to fruition now. Gonzo
- 54:27Speaker 5: hasn't been one hundred percent healthy, right, And maybe that's
- 54:30Speaker 5: why but like in order, that's the only way I
- 54:33Speaker 5: can really see the past defense improving substantially is if
- 54:37Speaker 5: you know, I don't know if he's going to play
- 54:38Speaker 5: on Sunday, But they say to Gonzo like you got Ridley,
- 54:41Speaker 5: you know, like you got Drake London, you have and
- 54:43Speaker 5: he's everywhere traveling with those receivers at one hundred percent
- 54:48Speaker 5: because right now they're kind of just playing sides and
- 54:51Speaker 5: just taking whoever.
- 54:54Speaker 2: Knows his team yet or is he still learning you
- 54:58Speaker 2: know who's and I'm talking the defense, like who are
- 55:02Speaker 2: my guys in certain situations?
- 55:04Speaker 4: Yeah, I would say I would put him slightly behind
- 55:07Speaker 4: what a normal coach who's been around for a couple
- 55:10Speaker 4: of years might know of his team. I think there's
- 55:11Speaker 4: still a little bit of a learning curve with some
- 55:14Speaker 4: of the new faces and maybe some of the guys
- 55:16Speaker 4: that he inherited.
- 55:17Speaker 1: But for the most part, I mean, I think you
- 55:18Speaker 1: should have a pretty good idea.
- 55:19Speaker 4: I mean, I think this identity is starting starting to
- 55:22Speaker 4: come out to us at least, so I would imagine
- 55:24Speaker 4: it has for him too.
- 55:25Speaker 5: I just look at, you know, week to week, Like
- 55:26Speaker 5: last week they played a lot of man in Buffalo,
- 55:29Speaker 5: and it mostly worked and it was, you know, a
- 55:32Speaker 5: good defensive game this week. They then all of a sudden,
- 55:34Speaker 5: they're playing a ton of zone and it's like, I
- 55:37Speaker 5: get wanting to be game plan and I get that
- 55:39Speaker 5: you want to change it up. I just I wonder
- 55:41Speaker 5: if they're not personnel wise, they might not be fully
- 55:44Speaker 5: there yet. They just like week to week, you know
- 55:47Speaker 5: Belichick's style, we're going to be We're going to be different.
- 55:50Speaker 5: So in this game, they came out with a lot
- 55:52Speaker 5: of zone blitzing, and to Rattler's credit, he beat them.
- 55:57Speaker 5: He beat him with it, and so I just wonder
- 55:59Speaker 5: if they maybe could kind of simplify on defense where
- 56:02Speaker 5: they just say this is what we do.
- 56:03Speaker 2: Well, Yeah, Eldrid's in North Carolina.
- 56:07Speaker 1: Hey Aldred, Hey fellas.
- 56:11Speaker 13: How y'all doing? Who hey? Questions? I know, we keep
- 56:16Speaker 13: talking about the running game, and I keep standing the
- 56:18Speaker 13: coverage with the linebackers and the safeties. But I looked
- 56:22Speaker 13: at the game again yesterday. I still say eighty percent
- 56:26Speaker 13: of that is the line because I still see a
- 56:29Speaker 13: lot of black Jerry's coming through and they run into
- 56:31Speaker 13: the wall. But then again New Orleans kept doing that
- 56:35Speaker 13: damn excuse me, run blitz and they're telling you to
- 56:38Speaker 13: get their linebacker or corner shooting the gap. So I
- 56:42Speaker 13: don't know maybe that's the issue or not, and I
- 56:45Speaker 13: take it off the air. Thank you, you have a
- 56:47Speaker 13: good one.
- 56:48Speaker 1: Okay, thanks Eldrid.
- 56:49Speaker 5: They've seen a lot of like post snap movement from
- 56:53Speaker 5: defenses in the run game, like they're gap penetrating, their stunting,
- 56:57Speaker 5: they're run blitzing like things like that really early on
- 57:00Speaker 5: the season, like Vegas kind of brought it out week
- 57:02Speaker 5: one and it's sort of been the book on what
- 57:05Speaker 5: they do and it has worked. But you know, the
- 57:09Speaker 5: downside of that for the defense is that may Is
- 57:12Speaker 5: is killing them through the air. So it's like if
- 57:14Speaker 5: they're going to keep doing this and they're going to
- 57:16Speaker 5: keep being aggressive upfront against the run, and then they're
- 57:19Speaker 5: just gonna throw it over the top.
- 57:21Speaker 4: So it's now much you do if you're Tennessee, like
- 57:24Speaker 4: this week, you don't really have much to work with.
- 57:26Speaker 4: You know, you got Jeffrey Simmons. Do you just say
- 57:28Speaker 4: we're not gonna let Drake maybe this this week? This
- 57:30Speaker 4: is the week that reminder Stevenson a Travian Henderson suddenly
- 57:33Speaker 4: find their stride and get good, then we'll lose that way.
- 57:36Speaker 1: But let's play deep.

- 1:01:11Speaker 7: How are you good? Good? Mike Good?
- 1:01:18Speaker 15: Still having trouble running the football?
- 1:01:21Speaker 5: I was wondering if, in terms of Remandre, maybe he's
- 1:01:26Speaker 5: focusing a little too much on protecting the football.
- 1:01:29Speaker 7: Probably everybody is. I wouldn't say that it's just Remandre.
- 1:01:33Speaker 17: I think that that's something that probably both backs that
- 1:01:37Speaker 17: that played yesterday and they carried the ball yesterday probably
- 1:01:41Speaker 17: are focused on.
- 1:01:42Speaker 7: And you know, I think there's a balance there. We've
- 1:01:46Speaker 7: talked about that.
- 1:01:47Speaker 17: I know, when we don't turn it over, we've won
- 1:01:52Speaker 17: those three games, So there's there's certainly a balance there.
- 1:01:56Speaker 7: And we have to.
- 1:01:59Speaker 17: To give him a good play and we have to
- 1:02:00Speaker 17: block and execute that to block support, and then we
- 1:02:05Speaker 17: we have to we have to run and make people
- 1:02:08Speaker 17: miss and break tackles. So well, we'll work hard at that,
- 1:02:13Speaker 17: but in the same sense, I'm proud of the improvements
- 1:02:16Speaker 17: that we've made protecting our our quarterback and protecting Drake,
- 1:02:20Speaker 17: and we'll just have to continue to strike a good
- 1:02:24Speaker 17: balance there with running the football.
- 1:02:27Speaker 18: Mike says a video view in the locker room after
- 1:02:29Speaker 18: the game. Why is it so important for you to
- 1:02:31Speaker 18: harp one too?
- 1:02:33Speaker 7: Your players to join? They put a lot into it.
- 1:02:36Speaker 7: You know, we try to coach them throughout the week.
- 1:02:39Speaker 7: We we coach them. You know, we believe in some things,
- 1:02:45Speaker 7: and we want to coach.
- 1:02:47Speaker 17: And practice our identity through the week and in meetings
- 1:02:50Speaker 17: and lock in and get the details and things that
- 1:02:53Speaker 17: we feel like are going to help us win a
- 1:02:54Speaker 17: football game. And then you know, they're the ones that
- 1:02:57Speaker 17: go out and perform and execute, and I'm them to
- 1:03:00Speaker 17: embrace that.
- 1:03:04Speaker 7: You know.
- 1:03:04Speaker 17: We just it's a tough league to win in, and
- 1:03:07Speaker 17: tough league too to win consistently and on the road,
- 1:03:10Speaker 17: and the numbers and for the history will tell you that.
- 1:03:14Speaker 7: You know, this league is designed to to be.
- 1:03:18Speaker 17: It used to be an eight and eight league and
- 1:03:20Speaker 17: now it's a nine or eight or eight nine league,
- 1:03:22Speaker 17: and that's that's how the systems set up, and so
- 1:03:25Speaker 17: we have to do things through the course of the
- 1:03:28Speaker 17: game and the season that that that skewed that and
- 1:03:32Speaker 17: to move those numbers in our favor. And I think
- 1:03:36Speaker 17: that there's a good balance that can be had from
- 1:03:40Speaker 17: these guys still knowing that they can they can play
- 1:03:42Speaker 17: better and they can do some things. But you know,
- 1:03:46Speaker 17: we hammered two footballs out yesterday defensively, and not that
- 1:03:50Speaker 17: we weren't hammering before, but a couple of them rolled
- 1:03:54Speaker 17: out of bounds. A couple of them didn't come out yesterday.
- 1:03:58Speaker 17: They came out. You know, we were able to recover
- 1:04:00Speaker 17: the one, actually both of them. But you know, feel
- 1:04:04Speaker 17: bad for Charles. I know he wanted to fumble cause
- 1:04:07Speaker 17: fumble there and didn't end up challenging it just because
- 1:04:11Speaker 17: of the the risk reward I felt that was involved.
- 1:04:14Speaker 17: So you know, there's good stuff and then you know,
- 1:04:17Speaker 17: just want them to be able to embrace that and
- 1:04:18Speaker 17: then enjoy that and then understand that there's another challenge
- 1:04:21Speaker 17: on the road here this week.
- 1:04:22Speaker 7: Again.
- 1:04:23Speaker 17: Leave you up and scored its first touchdown during a
- 1:04:26Speaker 17: two minute situation last last night.
- 1:04:28Speaker 7: I'm wondering, how have.
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: You seen the group grow in those situations and would
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: allowed them to.
- 1:04:31Speaker 7: Finally reached out of mind.
- 1:04:33Speaker 17: Uh you know, I mean we've had you know, we
- 1:04:37Speaker 17: had the one at the end of the Pittsburgh game.
- 1:04:42Speaker 17: They might have gone on to score against Vegas, but
- 1:04:45Speaker 17: you know, opted for the field goal, you know, to
- 1:04:47Speaker 17: try to flip it. So situationally, maybe that cause for
- 1:04:54Speaker 17: you know, us not scoring touchdowns. You know, we didn't
- 1:04:57Speaker 17: convert the end of the game against but to be
- 1:05:01Speaker 17: able to possess it there all the way through and
- 1:05:05Speaker 17: really give our guys the last touch, you know, that's
- 1:05:09Speaker 17: that's been something that's important, you know, when you got
- 1:05:11Speaker 17: a good offense on the other side, which there is
- 1:05:15Speaker 17: every week, you know, making sure that they don't get
- 1:05:17Speaker 17: the ball back, and you know, just being able to
- 1:05:21Speaker 17: understand when they may pressure, you know, when when we
- 1:05:24Speaker 17: need to get out of bounds, controlling the clock, really
- 1:05:28Speaker 17: getting into that drive, that two minute drive and you
- 1:05:30Speaker 17: sacks kill.
- 1:05:32Speaker 7: Two minutes and uh you know, so we were able
- 1:05:36Speaker 7: to get the first first.
- 1:05:37Speaker 17: Down and I felt like that gave us a flow
- 1:05:39Speaker 17: and a rhythm to to that you know, particular drive
- 1:05:42Speaker 17: there at the end of the half, Like what what.
- 1:05:44Speaker 19: Advantages are you getting when you have this plane to
- 1:05:46Speaker 19: buy giving this tree what we feel, you know, I
- 1:05:51Speaker 19: think it just gives us a little bit more flexibility
- 1:05:53Speaker 19: to to be in different fronts and to do, uh,
- 1:05:57Speaker 19: you know, some different things and be able to use
- 1:05:59Speaker 19: everybody and take some snaps off of some other guys.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: Coach, which one of the passing appearance calls on Diggs.
- 1:06:07Speaker 7: Drove me more crazy. Oh no, those don't. I don't
- 1:06:11Speaker 7: don't drive me crazy.
- 1:06:15Speaker 17: You know, we just have to be able to deal
- 1:06:18Speaker 17: with whatever situation is presented to us, whether we agree
- 1:06:23Speaker 17: with it or disagree with it.
- 1:06:25Speaker 7: I've learned that it's not going to change.
- 1:06:28Speaker 17: So frustrated and disappointed for the players there that had
- 1:06:33Speaker 17: some really explosive gains taken away by by judgment, you know,
- 1:06:39Speaker 17: probably poor judgment, but that's it's all part of it.
- 1:06:43Speaker 17: And so I like the resolve for us to know
- 1:06:47Speaker 17: ability for us to play through some of those, however
- 1:06:51Speaker 17: difficult that it may be.
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: My I guess they took a long time before you
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: had to punt.
- 1:06:57Speaker 4: When you did, Rice, you know, your own head and
- 1:07:00Speaker 4: shooting back there kicks off a good Funds kind of
- 1:07:03Speaker 4: flips the field.
- 1:07:04Speaker 7: They have flipped the field there.
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: His performance and his leadership in that way too Muchie specially, Yeah.
- 1:07:09Speaker 17: I think you know, just you look at the operation
- 1:07:13Speaker 17: on the field goal and being able to calm everything
- 1:07:15Speaker 17: down and be able to handle the the snap and
- 1:07:19Speaker 17: just the you know, good placement ball placement for Andy,
- 1:07:25Speaker 17: you know, I do.
- 1:07:25Speaker 7: You know, Bryce's really kind.
- 1:07:27Speaker 17: Of helps out in all regards and special teams and
- 1:07:31Speaker 17: he's done a nice job just you know, whether that's
- 1:07:34Speaker 17: helping on kickoff or turn or kickoff or you know,
- 1:07:37Speaker 17: just helping it practice right, some of the things that
- 1:07:40Speaker 17: you guys may or may not see, but it was
- 1:07:43Speaker 17: good for him. He's you know, done a nice job
- 1:07:46Speaker 17: for us and hopefully we don't have to use him
- 1:07:48Speaker 17: as much. But you know, certainly came off with a
- 1:07:51Speaker 17: big kick there to be able to flip the field
- 1:07:53Speaker 17: and you know the one we probably don't want down
- 1:07:56Speaker 17: the middle of the field and he knows that so
- 1:08:00Speaker 17: but to be able to flip the field and those
- 1:08:02Speaker 17: situations are huge and Bryce has done a nice job
- 1:08:06Speaker 17: on a nine yards.
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: Flipping from Brake to Trevion?
- 1:08:10Speaker 10: Is that a no, no?
- 1:08:11Speaker 7: Yes?
- 1:08:11Speaker 8: Play?
- 1:08:12Speaker 19: Is that a balance being a playmaker and being safe?
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: Like, how do you how is a coach?
- 1:08:16Speaker 7: To your view, the decision there and pitch the ball.
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: Obviously a successful that.
- 1:08:21Speaker 17: We get, you know, we put you know, we have
- 1:08:23Speaker 17: a lot of trust and faith and certainly Drake and
- 1:08:27Speaker 17: and anybody else that would have the football, we have
- 1:08:29Speaker 17: to be able to give them the liberty to go
- 1:08:32Speaker 17: play the game and understand and not put it in
- 1:08:35Speaker 17: in danger, but also try to try to make some
- 1:08:38Speaker 17: positive plays and some of those things that go off script.
- 1:08:41Speaker 17: You see, you know, Drake able to run down to
- 1:08:43Speaker 17: the one yard line or scrambling out there to the
- 1:08:45Speaker 17: left and and throwing the ball and using the rules
- 1:08:48Speaker 17: to to our advantage and you know, taking it in
- 1:08:51Speaker 17: completion as opposed to uh, you know, a hit or
- 1:08:54Speaker 17: a sack.
- 1:08:56Speaker 18: With the running game kind of get back to Karen's question,
- 1:09:00Speaker 18: do you think you guys could benefit from from more
- 1:09:03Speaker 18: variety in the right I'm just thinking of those last
- 1:09:05Speaker 18: few handoffs towards the end of the game. You just
- 1:09:07Speaker 18: seem sort of direct runs straight downhill.
- 1:09:10Speaker 17: Yeah, man, I think that when you talk about five minutes,
- 1:09:13Speaker 17: I mean you want to be protective of pressures and
- 1:09:16Speaker 17: things like that.
- 1:09:16Speaker 7: I think there's a lot of variety in our run game.
- 1:09:21Speaker 17: Throughout the season, and to look at one specific play
- 1:09:25Speaker 17: and one you know, specific situation probably isn't isn't fair,
- 1:09:30Speaker 17: but you know, you're free to do whatever you want.
- 1:09:33Speaker 17: I just you know, you want to make sure that
- 1:09:36Speaker 17: in those situations that you're trying to get the ball downhill,
- 1:09:39Speaker 17: you're not trying to run sideways and create a holding
- 1:09:41Speaker 17: penalty you know that would stop the clock, lose yardage,
- 1:09:46Speaker 17: all those things in five minute now we're trying to
- 1:09:48Speaker 17: be good with but also gain a first down to
- 1:09:51Speaker 17: to win the game.
- 1:09:52Speaker 7: So we'll keep working.
- 1:09:53Speaker 17: We've had some some you know, good runs and we've
- 1:09:58Speaker 17: had some had some some pitiful ones too, and so
- 1:10:01Speaker 17: we just have to make sure that there is a consistency,
- 1:10:05Speaker 17: you know that we're coaching the details, that we're coaching
- 1:10:07Speaker 17: the demeanor and understand that it's gonna going to be
- 1:10:10Speaker 17: some some dirty runs in there and that we're going
- 1:10:12Speaker 17: to have to make a guy miss or break a tackle,
- 1:10:14Speaker 17: things that we've done throughout the season and be able
- 1:10:17Speaker 17: to do all those while taking care of the football
- 1:10:19Speaker 17: and trying to move the line of scrimmage. So you know,
- 1:10:24Speaker 17: probably wished we probably had some more production in a
- 1:10:29Speaker 17: run game there at the end, we got the one
- 1:10:32Speaker 17: first down and then we're able to throw for the
- 1:10:33Speaker 17: second one.
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: Coach, it's tight this week.
- 1:10:37Speaker 7: What are your thoughts on going back there?
- 1:10:38Speaker 17: And I mean just this is going to be probably
- 1:10:42Speaker 17: a lot to be said about this, and I think
- 1:10:45Speaker 17: would file under the category of, you know, is it
- 1:10:48Speaker 17: interesting or important? And I would probably say this would
- 1:10:51Speaker 17: be very interesting, but in the end not very important
- 1:10:55Speaker 17: to our preparation or what we.
- 1:10:58Speaker 7: Need to continue to try to do to them prove
- 1:11:00Speaker 7: as a team.
- 1:11:01Speaker 17: But having spent you know, six years there or seven
- 1:11:05Speaker 17: years there, I mean, it's uh, you know, I think
- 1:11:09Speaker 17: it'll be It'll be nice to see some some people
- 1:11:13Speaker 17: that I haven't seen it in a few years that
- 1:11:17Speaker 17: helped us win, players and staff. But uh, you know,
- 1:11:21Speaker 17: we've got a huge job here to do, uh as
- 1:11:23Speaker 17: we prepare for him.
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: And now great moments in history.
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: I know he's a friend of the show, but the
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: pre and post game shows have become largely about soothing
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: or feeding Hardy's ego, and he offers little actual information
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: about the team or the game.
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: It's so frustrated, Wow.
- 1:11:47Speaker 9: We should bring this that's entirely inaccurate Hardy to I
- 1:11:50Speaker 9: don't know if I think if anything in this room,
- 1:11:53Speaker 9: I think if anything, he's got inferior complex.
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: Yes, I would agree.
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: Yeah, uh, you know he he's a very busy guy.
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: He's got ninety eight point five. Then he does serious
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: he's got the music show, you know.
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: So he's got golf. Yeah, the golf show that he
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: does show.
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: But he gets free stuff for that, So I'm a
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: little jealous he.
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: Gets those clubs he took care of. Yes, I did
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: custom P HG clubs. He gave you clubs. No, he
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: got those he got free and I got his leftover.
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: Oh did you? He said he gave me a set
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: of irons?
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: Nice?
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: What kind?
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: I didn't look at him yet.
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: You don't even look at him.
- 1:12:30Speaker 5: No, we just the other night when we were leave,
- 1:12:32Speaker 5: when he put him in my trunk, So you're not
- 1:12:35Speaker 5: even curious to what they are.
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: No, I'll look at him when I get a chance.
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: I would want to know what kind of clubs I
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: got some new clubs got, don't you excited?
- 1:12:44Speaker 5: Plase I've been working on the set.
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: Of irons just rolling around in the back of his car.
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: Right they're in a bag. I'd want to know, Like
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: the Calloways and they expect that from him, not you.
- 1:12:56Speaker 5: I expect you know, like I'd be excited to get
- 1:12:59Speaker 5: a new set of eye Mike, how's your putting?
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: That's another great moment underrated line.
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: All right back here and Patriots Unfiltered eight five five
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: Pass five hundred is the hotline podcast at Patriots dot
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: com is the email address. And this one's interesting. This
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: goes to Matt Corrals. By the way, Aspen writes in
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: from reading or is he reading from Aspen? I don't know,
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: but he's a humble request to update the commentary highlights
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: for the opening of the postgame show. It's time to
- 1:13:31Speaker 2: celebrate Drake May's excellence and embrace that he's the future
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: of the franchise. There should be plenty of calls that
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: would be great to use from the past two games
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: for his purpose. And here's hoping he just keeps adding
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: more incredible plays. Yeah, we need to update all that stuff, right, I.
- 1:13:46Speaker 16: Mean, if a fifty yard pass is better than a
- 1:13:48Speaker 16: Super Bowl call, sure, well, no.
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: I get his point, Matt, you don't have to be
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: so defensive. Let's get some of the you know, the
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: the more recent.
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: Stuff in the new ones made this week. I promise.
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: Yeah, we've got a lot, you know, a lot of
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: good stuff, now.
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: Do we?
- 1:14:07Speaker 7: Well?
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: What is wrong with you people? To celebrate?
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: Somebody's got a red ass over here? We got a
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: bunch of Sean mcdermot's going on, all.
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: Right, I get it. Long Way to Go, six, Long
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: Way to Go.
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: Listen Travis and Watertown, Connecticut. While the second half wasn't pretty,
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: I'm glad we take the win. I don't get a
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: chance to listen live, but I do tend to wait
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: until Mondays to listen to the picks segment. I love it,
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: by the way, and it's very entertaining to listen to
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: your picks and reasoning when I already know the outcomes
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: of the game. The two best parts of hearing Mike
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: pick wrong, knowing he's in last place in the picks
- 1:14:55Speaker 2: and sneaky negative and the others listening to Fred's confident
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: folks and knowing that whatever comes out will be utter nonsense.
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: This week especially was fun, with the Jets losing by
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: two and Fred being the only one to take the points, claiming, folks,
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: this is why I'm leading in the picks, and then
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: again calling the Panthers Cowboys upset even if.
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: It was a hate pick. I did better than the
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: up this week, but it's still a struggle for me
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: in the points. It really is.
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: This is a guy who really listens well and understands
- 1:15:26Speaker 3: because he's right. Like I would love to sit here
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: and tell you, Wow, you nailed, but I'm not going
- 1:15:32Speaker 3: to do it because I know why you took it.
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: Yeah, because I love seeing.
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: I love but my energy affects the games. I put
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: it out there in the universe and its.
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: A lot of good parody in the league. This year,
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: it's a horrible year. I agree, Why is it horrible?
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: I mean, you're right, it's not horrible, but there's just
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: there's no great team.
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: There's a lot of really bad teams, but there's no
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: great Yeah. I mean, yeah, yeah, you're right. It's not
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: necessarily bad. But I don't like pass I think it.
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: I think the league's going through a little bit of
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: a transition, and I think this is the greatness in
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: the league. Seeing like a snake's shedded skin here with
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: the league, you know, I hope so, and you have
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: to shed the skin to get bigger.
- 1:16:16Speaker 4: I just can't shake the feeling that a Buffalo or
- 1:16:19Speaker 4: Kansas City or Detroit or Philadelphia are suddenly gonna start
- 1:16:22Speaker 4: to kick in and get interested in December and play
- 1:16:26Speaker 4: their best ball right down and we're going to be
- 1:16:27Speaker 4: right back in another you know, Kansas City, Philadelphia and.
- 1:16:30Speaker 5: Those cities offense is playing really well.
- 1:16:32Speaker 3: It's three weeks in a row, so since where they
- 1:16:34Speaker 3: got back, the offense looks totally different. And now they're
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: going to get Rice back for the next game. But
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: I agree with Mike. Some of those the better teams,
- 1:16:42Speaker 3: the ones that have been good, you know for a while,
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: they almost it's not like they don't want to, but
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: it's almost.
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: They wake me up. The intention.
- 1:16:51Speaker 3: The intention is to build and play your best at
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: the end, whereas some other teams, and I'm not suggesting
- 1:16:58Speaker 3: the Patriots are one of these, because I think the
- 1:16:59Speaker 3: Patriots are building. But some other teams, you know, shoot
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: out of the gate and they played there. You know,
- 1:17:06Speaker 3: like Miami under McDaniel has played really well offensively at
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: the beginning of seasons and they Pete are out. You know,
- 1:17:13Speaker 3: they're not good this year at all, But that that
- 1:17:16Speaker 3: happens around the league this year, I just don't see.
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: I mean, the ones that Mike.
- 1:17:20Speaker 3: Said are probably the candidates Detroit and Philadelphia or as
- 1:17:24Speaker 3: talented as anyone, and maybe Green Bays in that mix,
- 1:17:26Speaker 3: but they lack of consistency would worry me, you know,
- 1:17:29Speaker 3: in Kansas City and Buffalo will be there at the end.
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: In three years, you know, we could be talking about
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: Drake May being one of the best quarterbacks in the league,
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: and I think Jackson.
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: Darry will be and Jackson intends if we're allowed.
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: Right, and Jackson Dark, you know, being the toast of
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: New York, and Michael Pennix, you know, being a good quarterback.
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: And if that's all true, you've got new teams take.
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: It bigger.
- 1:17:54Speaker 5: In five years. How are we going to look back
- 1:17:56Speaker 5: at that draft class? Yeah, a lot of good quarterbacks.
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: The Drake May draft closse. Yeah no, but yeah, I mean.
- 1:18:04Speaker 5: I know, I know he cried and everybody doesn't like him.
- 1:18:07Speaker 5: But Caleb Williams continues to look better every week.
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: I don't. I'm not saying he's there yet. He's not
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: where Drake May.
- 1:18:13Speaker 7: Is right now.
- 1:18:14Speaker 5: Jadon Daniels is already, Jayden Daniels is pretty good, Drake
- 1:18:19Speaker 5: May is pretty good.
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: JJ McCarthy. We haven't seen it at all. Pennix still learning.
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: I thought he made some really good plays last night,
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: some really bad plays last night. Bow Nicks looks like
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: the ultimate game manager to me. But with that defense,
- 1:18:33Speaker 3: that's good enough. He's going to be in the playoffs
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: more than likely. Wasn't the guy that the Saints played
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: in that class, Spencer. I mean, all of a sudden,
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: he looked alright to me. Maybe he's their guy.
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: I don't know, but that's that's a pretty good draft class.
- 1:18:48Speaker 5: The quarterbacks, Yeah, I mean bow Knick's probably the like
- 1:18:53Speaker 5: least physically gifted, but like he kind of was playing
- 1:18:56Speaker 5: like a little bit like an Alex right now.
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: And I know you have some of this, you know,
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: early success for these quarterbacks to you know, your tight
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: pants coaching on offense and having systems that are quarterback friendly.
- 1:19:09Speaker 5: I would, you know, it's too early to victory lap,
- 1:19:12Speaker 5: but you know, Ben Johnson looking looking pretty good right
- 1:19:15Speaker 5: now in Chicago as well, and Haskalb playing good football.
- 1:19:18Speaker 5: I think that was just in particular, that was a
- 1:19:21Speaker 5: really good class, and we knew it at the time
- 1:19:23Speaker 5: that it was a really good class. You know, I
- 1:19:25Speaker 5: look at where they were all drafted. You know, five
- 1:19:27Speaker 5: of those guys were drafted in the top fifteen of
- 1:19:30Speaker 5: that first round, so I think everybody was pretty well
- 1:19:33Speaker 5: aware that six of them really that it was a
- 1:19:36Speaker 5: good class coming out, and so far it's you know,
- 1:19:40Speaker 5: you have two different ways it could go.
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: Could go like the Mac.
- 1:19:42Speaker 5: Jones class where Jones and fields and you know, Trevor
- 1:19:47Speaker 5: Lawrence and that didn't go as well as Zach Wilson.
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: But this one looks like it's been the He.
- 1:19:53Speaker 3: Going to say the last time that we had one
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: of those classes, they all kind of started. I mean,
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: Trevor Lawrence is another one that's decent.
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: Yeah, tread and water.
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: Franklin and Baltimore writes in just some interesting stats to
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: show how sneaky good Booty has been this year. Out
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: of Booty's eighteen catches, sixteen of them are for first downs,
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: and for the math nerds, that's nearly ninety percent. Boody
- 1:20:15Speaker 2: currently ranks in the top ten in terms of yards
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: per reception at sixteen point seven.
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: That also leads the team.
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: He has six big plays according to ESPN's tracking Big
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: stat which to me brings up an interesting conversation. How
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: are we defining a big play wide receiver? Or a
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: player that gets chunk plays? Is it purely speed yack
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: versatility as an inside outside threat, Because all I know
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: is that whenever the team needs that chunk play, it's
- 1:20:42Speaker 2: Booty that who's done it consistently more than anyone else.
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: And this dates back to last year. All Right, I
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: like Booty. I like him.
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: Uh oh uh oh, but this is what he does.
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: He's sick and tired of twenty plus catches. So no,
- 1:20:55Speaker 2: his whole thing is like, this is a no time going.
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: This is what he runs down the field and he'll
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: make down the field.
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: So yes, that's a terrible thing. Are going to go
- 1:21:03Speaker 2: for first downs? But like, look, god forbid you run
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: down the field to make catches.
- 1:21:08Speaker 4: In another world there might be a guy who could
- 1:21:10Speaker 4: run down the field, make a catch, and then make
- 1:21:12Speaker 4: a move and then get to the end zone.
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: The boy.
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: See, I'm okay with the amount of yards he gets
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: on the catches. Everything that that emailer said is right.
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: He has made chunk plays. Can I get more than
- 1:21:24Speaker 3: eighteen of them before I say, like, he's one of
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: the premiere big play receivers in football. Oh, I don't
- 1:21:30Speaker 3: know if that's all that? Like every time he's been
- 1:21:33Speaker 3: targeted this year, He's done the job. He's been outstanding
- 1:21:36Speaker 3: in the role that he's been given. I don't have
- 1:21:38Speaker 3: anything even taking it full circle, like the maturity that
- 1:21:43Speaker 3: he has shown and the growth that he has shown
- 1:21:46Speaker 3: from year one to year three, now I think has
- 1:21:48Speaker 3: been off the charts. I don't have anything negative to
- 1:21:50Speaker 3: say about Kayshawn Booty. But when we're going to start to.
- 1:21:54Speaker 5: Say, like what classifies as a big play receiver more
- 1:21:56Speaker 5: than eighteen catches?
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: So then why can we get excited about make Drake
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: May Booty's ascension.
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: You think Drake May is like low in the league
- 1:22:06Speaker 3: in terms of like a number of attempts or yards, No, well.
- 1:22:10Speaker 5: Kayshaun Booty would be. But Jan Boody's average is what
- 1:22:13Speaker 5: it is because he doesn't have a lot of catch ups.
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: But the point is he doesn't have a lot of
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: drops either.
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: No, no, no, He's again, I don't have anything. I
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: don't have anything negative to say about Kayshan bud him.
- 1:22:26Speaker 5: You can get as excited as you want. I'm excited
- 1:22:28Speaker 5: about him. I think he's just shown tremendous.
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: You're you're like, wait and see with Kaishan Boy not wait.
- 1:22:33Speaker 3: And see, I don't think that he'll ever be that
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: what he is asked to do. He's been doing exceptionally
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: high level. Yes, cat like eighty passes and does that
- 1:22:43Speaker 3: like that's what a big play receiver, you know, Like, okay, that's.
- 1:22:47Speaker 5: A complimentary receiver. Yes, yeah, And they you know, he's
- 1:22:51Speaker 5: playing the X spot. I don't know if that's naturally
- 1:22:54Speaker 5: his position, and he's playing outside a lot, and typically
- 1:22:59Speaker 5: in a Josh Daniel's offense, that's kind of a forgotten sacrificial, sacrificial.
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: It's kind of sacrificial.
- 1:23:06Speaker 5: You're just gonna run wind sprints and you're gonna stretch
- 1:23:09Speaker 5: coverage and clear out and do that type of thing.
- 1:23:12Speaker 5: But when you have a quarterback like Drake that's so
- 1:23:14Speaker 5: good at throwing outside the numbers, that that role is
- 1:23:17Speaker 5: going to be amplified, maybe a little bit more than
- 1:23:20Speaker 5: it would be in a different offense with a different quarterback.
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: And so Booty is getting those targets.
- 1:23:24Speaker 5: And to his credit, you know, he's he had a
- 1:23:26Speaker 5: lot of one on ones in this game against New
- 1:23:29Speaker 5: Orleans and he won them. He won them in big spots.
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: I like Booty. I all like Booty. I actually think, Yeah,
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: I think I think he's that as a very we
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: all like I didn't catch it. I didn't catch it
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: the first I'm not gonna lie. It works both ways
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: for me, It's fine. Yeah.
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: The the development of of Booty has been I think
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: a huge part of the offense this.
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:23:58Speaker 5: I just like when you talk about this is like
- 1:24:01Speaker 5: Chris Hogan used to be very high up in the
- 1:24:04Speaker 5: yards per catch.
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: Yeah, same thing with your yards per catch.
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: When you only catch downfield passes but you don't catch
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: a lot of them, your yards per catch is really high.
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:24:14Speaker 3: I know, Like it's like if you catch a hundred
- 1:24:16Speaker 3: balls and you're ad sixteen point seven yards per catch.
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: Now you're talking big play receiver. Yeah, I think.
- 1:24:22Speaker 4: I gotta say I think Keisham Bouti is outstanding contested catches,
- 1:24:27Speaker 4: and not for a guy who's not that big.
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: But he comes down consistently the whole time here with catches.
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: You're like, how did he come down with that one?
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: I mean, I mean one of them last week.
- 1:24:37Speaker 5: I mean the contact is really and he's gotten stronger
- 1:24:43Speaker 5: and better at that as his career has.
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: Loved listening to him talk. Now it doesn't even sound
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: like the same.
- 1:24:48Speaker 5: Kid that we had two years or two years ago,
- 1:24:51Speaker 5: one year, like last year. He's throwing growing up right
- 1:24:54Speaker 5: before our eyes.
- 1:24:55Speaker 3: Like him talking about like you know, the adversity he
- 1:24:58Speaker 3: faced early on, and like you know, at one point
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: he felt like he was going to be a first
- 1:25:01Speaker 3: round pick. And I think the self awareness that he's
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: displayed the development of booty has been a huge part
- 1:25:08Speaker 3: of their offense.
- 1:25:09Speaker 4: I don't know if you heard me feel on the
- 1:25:10Speaker 4: postgame show, make this point. I'll make it again real quick,
- 1:25:13Speaker 4: but you know, just to go from his first play
- 1:25:15Speaker 4: as a pro, his first game.
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: Is a pro, but he didn't get his feet down
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: in bounds. Remember that.
- 1:25:19Speaker 4: And then it was like, oh, he's on the outs,
- 1:25:21Speaker 4: and now you have a guy that you know is
- 1:25:23Speaker 4: going to get his feet down and stay in bounced
- 1:25:25Speaker 4: or make those tough catches.
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: So I just I thought that was a wonderful way
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: to illustrate his career. Arc. I mean, it's really impressive.
- 1:25:31Speaker 4: You got to give him a ton of credit for
- 1:25:32Speaker 4: what what you know, all the ups and downs that
- 1:25:34Speaker 4: he's fought through two years ago, last year to arrive.
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: At this point. It's pretty special.
- 1:25:38Speaker 5: If you have a guy like Diggs who can be
- 1:25:40Speaker 5: the volume guy, and then Booty is kind of when
- 1:25:44Speaker 5: the ball finds him and when the coverage dictates that
- 1:25:46Speaker 5: this is where the ball is going to go, he
- 1:25:48Speaker 5: steps up and catches eighteen of his twenty three targets
- 1:25:51Speaker 5: so far this year, He's been exactly what they needed
- 1:25:54Speaker 5: him to be, really solid in.
- 1:25:56Speaker 3: Two plays again on the sideline late in games back
- 1:26:00Speaker 3: to back weeks, showing the awareness to get down. Although
- 1:26:03Speaker 3: this this one that that they ended up getting overturned.
- 1:26:05Speaker 3: I don't really understand the rule.
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: I don't. Someone is going to need to explain the
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: rule to me.
- 1:26:09Speaker 5: I can talk to Stretch about it later.
- 1:26:11Speaker 3: Like he gets, he comes down, he lands, he has
- 1:26:12Speaker 3: two feet down and he gets knocked out of bounds,
- 1:26:16Speaker 3: and they said that he was down inbounds Like I don't.
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: Well, he must other something other than his feet must
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: have touched in bounds, right, Nope, you sure not that
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: I saw.
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: We have to I have to see the play again.
- 1:26:29Speaker 3: Because maybe I miss misremembering, as Roger Clemons once famously said, yeah.
- 1:26:33Speaker 5: He also had a play earlier on the Driver he
- 1:26:37Speaker 5: ran an out and he's stayed in bounce on the
- 1:26:39Speaker 5: out too, and made New Orleans burn a time out,
- 1:26:43Speaker 5: and so he's situationally, well, yeah, that one, I know,
- 1:26:47Speaker 5: it has been like kind of off the charts, like football.
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: I you, yeah, the one in Buffalo. One in Buffalo
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: was exceptional.
- 1:26:53Speaker 5: I asked him about it after the game and I
- 1:26:55Speaker 5: was like, you meant to do that, right, and he
- 1:26:56Speaker 5: was like, yeah, you know, got to know the clock,
- 1:26:58Speaker 5: got to know the situation.
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: That was yeah. Huge. Yeah.
- 1:27:01Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a difference between winning a losing play the
- 1:27:03Speaker 3: one in Buffalo, because I'm telling you, if they had
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: to kick the field goal and there's a minute left,
- 1:27:08Speaker 3: you're at least going overtime.
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: Yep, yep.
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: Cody writes in I know this was mentioned in the
- 1:27:12Speaker 2: post game a little bit, but shout out to Pop Douglas.
- 1:27:16Speaker 2: After a really shaky start and getting some media flack,
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: he maintained his high energy, made multiple high effort plays
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: blocking for his teammates, and finally the ball went back
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: his way on Sunday and he made some huge plays.
- 1:27:27Speaker 2: I think this also speaks to the culture change we've
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: been seeing. The attitude from the wide receiver room the
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: last few years was a little shaky, so it's great
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: to see guys like Pop continuing to grind through some
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: struggles and when the ball found him again capitalize awesome stuff.
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I give I guess Co signed all around.
- 1:27:44Speaker 4: It takes a lot of credit. I give Holland some
- 1:27:46Speaker 4: credit to just for that room. We talked about it
- 1:27:48Speaker 4: last year just they were, you know, an immature group
- 1:27:51Speaker 4: and didn't really have a leader or an anchor. And
- 1:27:53Speaker 4: you see from you know, even the stupid pregame speeches
- 1:27:56Speaker 4: that Diggs has really put his stamp on this room
- 1:27:58Speaker 4: and in this team, and and you're seeing now guys.
- 1:28:01Speaker 4: I just hope they can continue to.
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: Spread it around a little bit.
- 1:28:04Speaker 4: It's not like you either get six catches or no catches, Like,
- 1:28:07Speaker 4: can we find a happy medium with some of these
- 1:28:09Speaker 4: guys and you know, keep everybody getting fed every week
- 1:28:12Speaker 4: and keep everybody engaged and not ride that roller coaster
- 1:28:14Speaker 4: quite as much.
- 1:28:15Speaker 5: But the one thing that really like all around them
- 1:28:18Speaker 5: when they transition down the field, like whether it's a
- 1:28:22Speaker 5: pass or Drake may scramble. Guys transitioning into blockers has
- 1:28:28Speaker 5: been contagious. It's happened multiple times for like a month
- 1:28:32Speaker 5: now that when you watch Drake Meygan on the other
- 1:28:35Speaker 5: line of a scrimmage. On the other side of the
- 1:28:37Speaker 5: line of scrimmage, you see five eligible receivers down the
- 1:28:39Speaker 5: field turn into blockers.
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: You know, the flip to Henderson. Pop Douglas throws a block.
- 1:28:44Speaker 5: As soon as Drake May throws the ball, he blocks
- 1:28:47Speaker 5: his guy and helps Henderson get the corner and get
- 1:28:50Speaker 5: the edge of Mandre like sprinting downfield on the one
- 1:28:52Speaker 5: that didn't count and clock it the goal line. Yeah,
- 1:28:56Speaker 5: you know, to get Pop Douglas into the end zone.
- 1:28:58Speaker 5: Like they're the blocking after the play is kind of complete.
- 1:29:02Speaker 5: It's really become infectious and they're they're all doing it now.
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: Evan.
- 1:29:07Speaker 2: I like your brunt three quarters. Thank you for wearing
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: I'm wearing my brunt boots. No nothing, I love them.
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't want to. They're very comfortable, Mike. How
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: comfortable are they?
- 1:29:23Speaker 2: They're cushiony, Yeah, cushiony that you can wear them all day.
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: Let's see.
- 1:29:30Speaker 2: I'm looking for I thought we had a new Bob's read.
- 1:29:33Speaker 2: I want to tell people the exciting news about Bob's.

- 1:30:09Speaker 2: the official furniture store of the New England Patriots. So big,
- 1:30:16Speaker 2: big news from Bob's, Bobby's, Bobby's. How was the Bob's
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: Discount Furniture studio in the preseason?
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: Paul Company, they take it, Mike be able to talk
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: about it? Filled in. Yeah, a little cold in there,
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: but it was cold. They got to keep those studios
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: cold because of the lights. We go heavy on the
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: waters too, I think, Yeah, a lot of to get
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: my makeup done. That was exciting. Oh stop, pancake on,
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: It's gonna be a big stop.
- 1:30:49Speaker 2: Let's see, Kyle says. What's holding Drake back from winning
- 1:30:54Speaker 2: m v P this year? Does NFL media account for
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: things like strength of schedule or is it solely hustle
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: results and wins.
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: Nothing would be holding him, I would anything hold him back?
- 1:31:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean in some ways I feel like the
- 1:31:08Speaker 4: lack of running game amplifies his candidacy.
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean the.
- 1:31:13Speaker 5: Big reason why if you extrapolate everything from what you
- 1:31:17Speaker 5: have right now, like through the end of the season,
- 1:31:20Speaker 5: I think it'd be hard to look at a guy
- 1:31:23Speaker 5: like Baker Mayfield and say that that's not like an
- 1:31:25Speaker 5: MVP season. But it's six games, right, So, like, does
- 1:31:29Speaker 5: anybody think Baker Mayfield is going to win the MVP
- 1:31:31Speaker 5: right now?
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: I mean I don't should.
- 1:31:35Speaker 3: I don't know if there's been a player more valuable
- 1:31:37Speaker 3: to his team than Mayfield has been.
- 1:31:40Speaker 5: And I think the MVP award would be better with him,
- 1:31:45Speaker 5: But Drake may I don't know how many you want
- 1:31:48Speaker 5: to put it is there are the three guys that
- 1:31:51Speaker 5: are any more deserving than Drake may I'd be hard
- 1:31:54Speaker 5: pressed to come up with with them. I have a
- 1:31:57Speaker 5: this is a running theory of mine. So in the NBA,
- 1:32:02Speaker 5: they have a Most Improved Player award, not comeback player.
- 1:32:06Speaker 5: A comeback player is supposed to be an injury right,
- 1:32:09Speaker 5: like you had an ACL and then he came back
- 1:32:11Speaker 5: and you played well. So they have a Most Improved
- 1:32:13Speaker 5: Player award in the NBA, and I think that comeback
- 1:32:17Speaker 5: player there's a lot of votes that end up going
- 1:32:20Speaker 5: to a player that's really the most improved player, but
- 1:32:23Speaker 5: it ends up kind of getting like, so I think
- 1:32:25Speaker 5: that the NFL should have also have a most improved
- 1:32:29Speaker 5: Player running for that, right, So like, maybe he's not
- 1:32:33Speaker 5: winning MVP yet, but he might be the most improved
- 1:32:36Speaker 5: player in the league from last year to this year.
- 1:32:39Speaker 5: And then that's like I'm not making an award just
- 1:32:41Speaker 5: to give it to Drake, Like I've already had this idea, yeah,
- 1:32:44Speaker 5: for a while now, because I think what happens, Like
- 1:32:46Speaker 5: it kind of came up with the Joe Flacco DeMar
- 1:32:48Speaker 5: Hamlin come back Player of the Year, Right, Joe Flacco
- 1:32:52Speaker 5: came back from being bad, Like Joe Flacker didn't come
- 1:32:54Speaker 5: back from a major injury where he didn't play. He
- 1:32:57Speaker 5: came back from not being good of being good again.
- 1:33:01Speaker 5: And so I just wonder if maybe there's like a
- 1:33:03Speaker 5: different award and then that way, like that.
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: Most improved right, yeah, the major award, Yeah, yeah.
- 1:33:09Speaker 5: Now we have an offensive line award, So we already
- 1:33:11Speaker 5: got year.
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: That's that goes hard so doesn't so does it?
- 1:33:17Speaker 2: Not to get into too much of a rabbit hole,
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: But does the most improved.
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: Player have to be a young player?
- 1:33:23Speaker 5: No, not necessarily. I don't think there's an age on.
- 1:33:27Speaker 2: It, because like, let's just say you were good and
- 1:33:29Speaker 2: then you weren't good for a couple of years and
- 1:33:30Speaker 2: then all of a sudden you got good again. Show
- 1:33:33Speaker 2: is that improvement?
- 1:33:35Speaker 5: Is that like a bounce back or well I think
- 1:33:38Speaker 5: it's improvement. And again, like that player would be nominated
- 1:33:42Speaker 5: for comeback Player of the Year, right right, which doesn't
- 1:33:45Speaker 5: make any sense, Like that's not what.
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: Well, that's what I'm saying.
- 1:33:48Speaker 2: So that's why I'm wondering if it would always be
- 1:33:50Speaker 2: a young player that would get the.
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: Most bounce back player of the year, most just most comeback.
- 1:33:56Speaker 2: But this is the same about breakout Player of the Year.
- 1:33:59Speaker 5: Sure, right, if you want to call it that, that's
- 1:34:01Speaker 5: kind of the same. Fourth But I feel like the
- 1:34:03Speaker 5: other issue is like did we have we see this
- 1:34:05Speaker 5: with Coach of the Year.
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: Know how much I hate the comeback play? You don't
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: like because this is it right here?
- 1:34:09Speaker 2: Yeah, but breakout player that could go like any time, like, oh,
- 1:34:13Speaker 2: your fifth year, all of a sudden he broke out.
- 1:34:15Speaker 2: Do you think Drake's more improved or more breakout this
- 1:34:17Speaker 2: year though both? I mean it's hard to say which
- 1:34:20Speaker 2: is which.
- 1:34:20Speaker 5: I just think the comeback player the air war just
- 1:34:24Speaker 5: has too much gray area of what what is coming
- 1:34:27Speaker 5: back from? Yeah, to me, it has to be like injury, right,
- 1:34:31Speaker 5: Like you had a season ending.
- 1:34:33Speaker 2: Injury unless you were like in jail and came back.
- 1:34:38Speaker 5: To me, you know, if he has like a thousand
- 1:34:41Speaker 5: yard plus season like Stefan Diggs, could be nominated for
- 1:34:44Speaker 5: Comeback Player in the year, right right, But like I
- 1:34:47Speaker 5: wouldn't give Comeback Player the Year to Drake, Like that
- 1:34:49Speaker 5: would make.
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: No sense, right right right?
- 1:34:52Speaker 2: You could break out sponsored by Cleariso.
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: Oh yeah, bad thing. I want to clear up the
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: breakout so they eliminate the break out.
- 1:35:00Speaker 2: Jeffrey and Canada. If we had held on to the
- 1:35:02Speaker 2: ball against Pittsburgh, we'd be number one seed in the AFC.
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: Right now, that's crazy.
- 1:35:07Speaker 2: That said, I think the Pittsburgh game might end up
- 1:35:10Speaker 2: being the best thing that happened to this team. They
- 1:35:12Speaker 2: learned that if we play well, we belong on the
- 1:35:14Speaker 2: field with anyone. Should the Patriots go all in right
- 1:35:18Speaker 2: now and trade for a good receiver and a veteran
- 1:35:20Speaker 2: running back both, He says, Drake May's on a rookie contract.
- 1:35:24Speaker 2: We could be pushing to be a legit contender right now.
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: To me, they kind of have a buyer feel to them,
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: or they should have a buyer.
- 1:35:34Speaker 4: They got some real talented receiver, they have some you know,
- 1:35:37Speaker 4: cap space to work with, and this is the sweet
- 1:35:39Speaker 4: spot where you know it's time to be aggressive.
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: They have some talent needs at some spots. So what
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: would you give up for a running back?
- 1:35:46Speaker 10: Yeah?
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: Right now? Give up a third round. I was like thinking,
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: third is the highest I think i'd get. I mean
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: for a legit guy.
- 1:35:53Speaker 5: Because we're going to be picking the last paper.
- 1:35:55Speaker 2: I might do seconds, I might do second.
- 1:35:58Speaker 3: Yeah, running back. I don't even want to use a
- 1:36:00Speaker 3: second round pick on a running back out of the draft.
- 1:36:02Speaker 5: I know I would say a third, but maybe a
- 1:36:05Speaker 5: little bit of hot take, Like, I don't I wouldn't
- 1:36:08Speaker 5: necessarily say receiver is.
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: Now if it's a J. Brown, like that's a different story.
- 1:36:13Speaker 5: But like just adding another receiver just to add another receiver,
- 1:36:17Speaker 5: I don't think they necessarily. I would rather trade for
- 1:36:20Speaker 5: running back, maybe another impact player.
- 1:36:22Speaker 2: I know he's older, but just think about what Henry
- 1:36:25Speaker 2: would be on this team. All of a sudden, now
- 1:36:27Speaker 2: you do have to respect the run, and that makes
- 1:36:30Speaker 2: the entire offense.
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: They respect the run anymore than they're doing.
- 1:36:34Speaker 5: But now, well, now you might be able to run
- 1:36:37Speaker 5: into might be able to do it even though they're
- 1:36:39Speaker 5: putting eight in the box.
- 1:36:40Speaker 7: Right.
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: The problem is he makes the whole offense.
- 1:36:43Speaker 5: They can't run against the stack box. They're they're not
- 1:36:46Speaker 5: good at it. If you have a back that can
- 1:36:48Speaker 5: break tackles and that sort of thing, then maybe you
- 1:36:52Speaker 5: can run against seven and eight man box.
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: Maybe in theory.
- 1:36:58Speaker 2: Not interested, Okay, I mean Barton Poland.
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: I know that's saying Mike would be interested. I would
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: be good for me on the show.
- 1:37:05Speaker 5: I think Derek Mike would never come back from the
- 1:37:08Speaker 5: locker I first I first felt from the locker room.
- 1:37:12Speaker 5: I'm not a running you know, I'm not a running
- 1:37:14Speaker 5: backs guy. But I just look at their office. I
- 1:37:16Speaker 5: think it's the most deficient part of their.
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: They need somebody.
- 1:37:18Speaker 3: I mean, if it was Derek Henry, I certainly wouldn't
- 1:37:21Speaker 3: sit here and say what a terrible move.
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: They need they need help.
- 1:37:24Speaker 2: We have two guys go to Tennessee and he comes
- 1:37:26Speaker 2: back with us save money on the flight.
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: He plays for Baltimore. So oh, that's right, he's not
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: with Tennessee anymore. I forgot.
- 1:37:36Speaker 2: We played bald That's too late, though, we can't wait
- 1:37:38Speaker 2: that long.
- 1:37:38Speaker 5: After the dead yells the Jets that Jets would never
- 1:37:44Speaker 5: do that in the Division.
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: Jets would never do that. I agree with Fred. He's
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: in a contract here already, but he missed this whole
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: first year.
- 1:37:51Speaker 5: Right, Yeah, I think I don't see the Jets trading
- 1:37:54Speaker 5: him in the division.
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: The Bell getting some time on Good Morning Football Barton Poland.
- 1:37:59Speaker 2: I know that's saying that some thing was the best
- 1:38:00Speaker 2: the worst of all time is almost always overreacting, but
- 1:38:04Speaker 2: this really was one of the worst refereeing performances in
- 1:38:06Speaker 2: league history, and I don't think I'm exaggerating. If someone
- 1:38:10Speaker 2: finds me ten worst referee games ever, I'll buy him
- 1:38:12Speaker 2: a beer. The crew gut based accepted the crew gut
- 1:38:16Speaker 2: basically every single call wrong, small ones, big ones, phantom
- 1:38:19Speaker 2: run ones, even the calls they got right, they got wrong.
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: Fire them all to the sun.
- 1:38:24Speaker 4: I ask what it was on the late flag where
- 1:38:28Speaker 4: we didn't even see it thrown on TV. I never
- 1:38:30Speaker 4: even saw it thrown.
- 1:38:31Speaker 3: That was the I will say, the single individual worst
- 1:38:34Speaker 3: call I've ever seen to wipe out the second touchdown.
- 1:38:39Speaker 3: I've never seen anything like that. And then later that
- 1:38:43Speaker 3: night I kind of saw the same thing. The offense
- 1:38:46Speaker 3: for the Detroit Lions is on the bench celebrating and
- 1:38:48Speaker 3: you know, helmets off and.
- 1:38:51Speaker 2: Flag like.
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: I just don't I don't know what going on in
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: that league. I don't understand it. I just sky judge.
- 1:38:59Speaker 2: But even the report after I makes no sense.
- 1:39:03Speaker 5: They need somebody that the ball's not in the air,
- 1:39:06Speaker 5: it's not past interference. They need a sky judge. I
- 1:39:09Speaker 5: need somebody that's up top that is reviewing all these
- 1:39:12Speaker 5: calls and is saying either guys, I agree, pick up
- 1:39:16Speaker 5: the flag or whatever. And I know they have the
- 1:39:18Speaker 5: expedited replay now, but that's more for like turnovers and
- 1:39:22Speaker 5: in bounds, out of bounds spotting the ball. It's not
- 1:39:25Speaker 5: for judgment calls like pass interference. The judgment calls of
- 1:39:29Speaker 5: just they need to do a better job of judging
- 1:39:31Speaker 5: the judgment calls, and it happens so fast that they're
- 1:39:34Speaker 5: just getting a lot of these wrong.
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: Like the digs.
- 1:39:36Speaker 5: One he puts his hand on the.
- 1:39:38Speaker 2: Guy's supposed to look for the extended arm.
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: I don't have. I don't have it. He just I
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: don't have a huge. I don't have that one.
- 1:39:44Speaker 3: Other than the the ramifications, you have no problem with
- 1:39:48Speaker 3: that one, I didn't say I had no problem with
- 1:39:49Speaker 3: I sai, I didn't have a huge. I've seen that
- 1:39:51Speaker 3: call many times. I've never seen I've never ever seen
- 1:39:56Speaker 3: somewhere between five and ten yards downfield a receiver of
- 1:39:59Speaker 3: a defen it back locked up to wipe out a
- 1:40:02Speaker 3: fifty yard pass. I've never seen that in all the
- 1:40:04Speaker 3: years I've ever watched football. I've seen guys get an
- 1:40:07Speaker 3: advantage with the arm coming out. Yeah, they flip a coin.
- 1:40:11Speaker 3: Some days it's it's a penalty something. Booty kind of
- 1:40:14Speaker 3: does it in the end zone in his touchdown.
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: No call on that one. Yeah, I've seen that called.
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: I've seen it not called.
- 1:40:20Speaker 3: I've never seen the first Stefon Diggs offensive pass interference
- 1:40:25Speaker 3: called in all my years.
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: Well, that's the single worst call I've ever seen.
- 1:40:28Speaker 3: And to Mike's point, the fact that it seemingly came
- 1:40:31Speaker 3: after Drake May was already on the bench and the
- 1:40:35Speaker 3: team is on the field.
- 1:40:36Speaker 2: Well, he had a process it pull like I I
- 1:40:39Speaker 2: that was I don't really understand. It's got to be
- 1:40:43Speaker 2: some accountability.
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: I didn't see the pool report. I'm interested, Oh you
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: got to read this one.
- 1:40:49Speaker 3: Who couldn't have been any worse than the Pool report
- 1:40:51Speaker 3: that I did read on that Jared Goff play like
- 1:40:54Speaker 3: and I understand, like the technicality, this is what I
- 1:40:56Speaker 3: was talking about last week. The game is over officiated
- 1:41:00Speaker 3: and it's too complicated. They want a trick play with
- 1:41:04Speaker 3: the quarterback from under center of the Lions. And it
- 1:41:08Speaker 3: kind of didn't fool Kansas City. I mean, I'm on
- 1:41:11Speaker 3: Saint Brown created the touchdown with a great block, like
- 1:41:14Speaker 3: there was a guy out there to make the play,
- 1:41:17Speaker 3: Like what is the whole thing about? Like you can't
- 1:41:19Speaker 3: come out? He's in motion, Like everybody sees his in motion.
- 1:41:21Speaker 3: Everybody knows he's an eligible receiver. Why does he then
- 1:41:24Speaker 3: have to stop for a second?
- 1:41:26Speaker 2: And so just don't want him to give a running
- 1:41:27Speaker 2: start too much of an advantage, I guess, But he's
- 1:41:30Speaker 2: like you I see that all the time now, guys
- 1:41:33Speaker 2: going in motion and they never stop and they don't
- 1:41:35Speaker 2: call it, and then.
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: Sometimes they do. They just storing in motion is not
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: a penalty.
- 1:41:40Speaker 5: But when you turn toward the line, Oh that's going
- 1:41:43Speaker 5: up field, that's an illegal shift.
- 1:41:44Speaker 3: That's different. He wasn't going up Sometimes they don't call it,
- 1:41:48Speaker 3: not anymore. It's called almost every time.
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: Now. I was watch hicking on things that they call
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: every single time. Mimi.
- 1:41:55Speaker 2: I was watching it on Sunday.
- 1:41:56Speaker 5: It was like, oh my god, he just he's that
- 1:41:59Speaker 5: needs to be a pay I got called because he
- 1:42:00Speaker 5: didn't stop.
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: I'm not talking about our game.
- 1:42:02Speaker 3: No, I'm talking about Jared Goff as the quarterback. He
- 1:42:06Speaker 3: goes under center and he becomes the traditional quarterback even
- 1:42:08Speaker 3: though he didn't put his hands underneath right, because he
- 1:42:12Speaker 3: did that, he's not allowed to go in motion without stopping.
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: Like why is that a rule? Like it's so over complicated.
- 1:42:20Speaker 3: And you know again, I watched the Bears last night
- 1:42:23Speaker 3: lose a touchdown because they deemed that the tackles lined
- 1:42:26Speaker 3: up too far back. And then they go to the
- 1:42:28Speaker 3: replay and the rules experts say, is, I don't know
- 1:42:31Speaker 3: what they're looking at? There is helmet is is even
- 1:42:34Speaker 3: with the centers behind. I don't there's not what I
- 1:42:36Speaker 3: would have called, like, how many times did they take
- 1:42:39Speaker 3: away these big plays?
- 1:42:40Speaker 5: Well, I mean it happened on the one before, you know,
- 1:42:45Speaker 5: to Diggs they call an a legal shift on Remandre
- 1:42:48Speaker 5: on third down that had absolutely nothing nothing, and it
- 1:42:53Speaker 5: wipes out a first down. Then then the Patriots false
- 1:42:56Speaker 5: start and get into like third and twelve or something seventeen,
- 1:43:00Speaker 5: and the bomb to Diggs gets wiped out by and
- 1:43:04Speaker 5: then finally he throws incomplete again to Inference, but he
- 1:43:11Speaker 5: easily could have been in afference. It was just a
- 1:43:13Speaker 5: comedy of just ridiculousness, like the illegal shift on Remandri
- 1:43:18Speaker 5: I like, okay, maybe he like kind of like moved in.
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: His a little one telling me.
- 1:43:23Speaker 3: I was like, I read it the same way you did.
- 1:43:26Speaker 3: They called it on Stevenson for kind of not setting
- 1:43:28Speaker 3: and which constituted two guys in motion, which I hate,
- 1:43:33Speaker 3: but whatever. Someone told me today that it was actually
- 1:43:35Speaker 3: called on Digs for going upfield.
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: It's in it's in the book. It's in the book,
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: says Stevenson.
- 1:43:41Speaker 5: Yeah, but I don't know if you know if they
- 1:43:44Speaker 5: but on that one drive, there's three calls that impacted
- 1:43:50Speaker 5: the possession.
- 1:43:51Speaker 3: Like we had some calls that were sort of like
- 1:43:54Speaker 3: you know, unfortunately, they just couldn't they couldn't quite finish
- 1:43:57Speaker 3: the game. Off they got sloppy in the second I
- 1:43:59Speaker 3: was like, yeah, I might. I know, I worked with
- 1:44:02Speaker 3: Patriots dot Com. I'm going to cut him some slack.
- 1:44:04Speaker 3: I think the offense was perfectly fine in the second
- 1:44:07Speaker 3: half except for stuff like that, like they weren't going
- 1:44:10Speaker 3: to get stopped on that drive if not for the help.
- 1:44:13Speaker 3: And again I'm not just saying it was one side
- 1:44:16Speaker 3: because it wasn't. Like you know, someone said to me,
- 1:44:18Speaker 3: Someone said to me like, this is these kinds of
- 1:44:22Speaker 3: games lead you to believe that the games are fixed.
- 1:44:24Speaker 3: I go, yeah, well, who's it fixed for? Like they're
- 1:44:27Speaker 3: just flipping coins the whole day. It's unbelievable.
- 1:44:30Speaker 5: How how like, I don't know, because if he hits
- 1:44:33Speaker 5: the you know, the one, the digs are and field
- 1:44:35Speaker 5: goal range just automatically on the throat to dick absolutely
- 1:44:38Speaker 5: and if they called the one the next play on
- 1:44:40Speaker 5: Holland right now, it's you know, But I also think
- 1:44:42Speaker 5: there was probably you know, there was a Marcus Jones
- 1:44:46Speaker 5: kind of tug of the arm on the alave one
- 1:44:48Speaker 5: that could have been Again, I don't want to see calls.
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: I just want to see the guys make place.
- 1:44:53Speaker 5: Like I get it, it's moving fast. Diggs does put
- 1:44:56Speaker 5: his hand out on the guy.
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: The illegals that one.
- 1:45:00Speaker 5: I can understand the illegal shift penalty on Remandre, Like
- 1:45:04Speaker 5: we have to have a understanding of does this impact
- 1:45:08Speaker 5: the play or not? Like is this is him moving
- 1:45:12Speaker 5: two inches from his left to his right? Is that
- 1:45:15Speaker 5: the difference between this play working and this play not work.
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: I don't understand why it's a rule, but was fooling right?
- 1:45:21Speaker 5: It's not there's no advantage that he is gaining from
- 1:45:25Speaker 5: being able to do that. He didn't probably even do
- 1:45:27Speaker 5: it on purpose. So like these we see this every
- 1:45:31Speaker 5: you know, Paul's right, Like you know Lineman is an
- 1:45:34Speaker 5: inch you know back too far back into the backfield,
- 1:45:36Speaker 5: or this motion is illegal because of X, Y and
- 1:45:39Speaker 5: Z if there's no clear advantage that's being presented to
- 1:45:43Speaker 5: the offense or the defense because it's something I don't
- 1:45:45Speaker 5: know why.
- 1:45:46Speaker 2: They're getting So what about like hockey, you have a
- 1:45:49Speaker 2: delayed call and sometimes you just blow it off because
- 1:45:52Speaker 2: it really doesn't impact, Like icing or something like that.
- 1:45:56Speaker 2: I don't know what do they have delayed calls in
- 1:45:57Speaker 2: hockey for everything? But like, but what if you have
- 1:46:01Speaker 2: like a flag that comes out that it's a delayed call.
- 1:46:05Speaker 2: So if this ends up impacting the play, it's gonna
- 1:46:08Speaker 2: be a penalty. So I don't think you can say that.
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: No, I don't think you can do that.
- 1:46:11Speaker 3: Now. I would say, to Evans's point about the sky judge, Guy, judge,
- 1:46:16Speaker 3: can you just have some common sense on the play?
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: To Douglas ask the dude at the bar, So can't
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: the sky.
- 1:46:26Speaker 3: Judge just say, we're really gonna call this play seven
- 1:46:29Speaker 3: yards downfield with two guys sort of jostling one another. Right,
- 1:46:33Speaker 3: no problem, there is no flag on the play, right,
- 1:46:36Speaker 3: pick it up. Results of the play is a touchdown hockey.
- 1:46:38Speaker 3: We would have another paragraph to say after that, but
- 1:46:41Speaker 3: it's pretty simple.
- 1:46:43Speaker 2: Ivans in California, what's up?
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: Ivan?
- 1:46:46Speaker 2: Hey?
- 1:46:47Speaker 20: Happy first place Tuesday.
- 1:46:48Speaker 2: Guys.
- 1:46:49Speaker 20: There we go, We enjoy it. I know you guys,
- 1:46:52Speaker 20: you were touching on some of the things I wanted
- 1:46:54Speaker 20: to bring up, But I just say number one. Uh,
- 1:46:57Speaker 20: doesn't make me a homer to say that that was
- 1:47:00Speaker 20: the most egregious terrible day of flags throwing I've ever
- 1:47:06Speaker 20: seen in my life. And the thing it sucks is
- 1:47:08Speaker 20: that it takes a little bit of the joy out
- 1:47:10Speaker 20: of watching the game, you know what I mean. And
- 1:47:12Speaker 20: I hope somehow, some way, somebody at the headquarters says,
- 1:47:16Speaker 20: figures out a way to make, you know, the entertainment
- 1:47:19Speaker 20: value a little bit higher instead of having to be
- 1:47:22Speaker 20: talking about this stuff, you know what I mean.
- 1:47:23Speaker 2: Well, I don't know the league is really promoting flag
- 1:47:26Speaker 2: football these days.
- 1:47:27Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a good point, because that's what it looks like.
- 1:47:29Speaker 3: There's twenty five penalties every game, every game, right, And
- 1:47:33Speaker 3: I agree with you. I think it last night, I
- 1:47:35Speaker 3: trying to check out, like I can't watch the games anymore.
- 1:47:39Speaker 3: It's it's really hard when every big play gets wiped out.
- 1:47:44Speaker 20: Yeah, yeah, crazy, it really is. It's like every good play,
- 1:47:47Speaker 20: you're like, okay, hold on a second, is there flag?
- 1:47:50Speaker 10: Oh no?
- 1:47:50Speaker 20: And then it's just I just hope they fixed it.
- 1:47:53Speaker 20: But with that said, I know you guys have been
- 1:47:55Speaker 20: harping out that. I got a question for you. As
- 1:47:57Speaker 20: far as the running backs. I mean, I know Henry
- 1:48:00Speaker 20: was thrown out there, and maybe Baltimore, both South and
- 1:48:03Speaker 20: maybe they're willing to. But if not Henry, who else
- 1:48:06Speaker 20: do you think we could we could target? Because that
- 1:48:09Speaker 20: absolutely has become the number one the number one need
- 1:48:13Speaker 20: what that'll take it off line?
- 1:48:14Speaker 3: I think it's hard because a lot of teams need
- 1:48:18Speaker 3: running backs. Yeah, there's such attrition at that position.
- 1:48:21Speaker 2: What if there was a real, you know, one of
- 1:48:24Speaker 2: the best guards available, what would you give.
- 1:48:27Speaker 7: Up for that?
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: Why would the one of the best guards be available.
- 1:48:32Speaker 2: For the same reason that Breess Hall might be available
- 1:48:34Speaker 2: because the team stakes.
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: I wouldn't say, Brireee Hall is one of the best
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: running backs whatever.
- 1:48:41Speaker 7: You know what?
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: And I don't even know that.
- 1:48:42Speaker 2: You say, why why would anyone be available because they
- 1:48:45Speaker 2: want to get.
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: Rid of or to your point, I don't even know
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: that Breess Hall is available.
- 1:48:48Speaker 2: I'm but like, why would and why would Derrick Henry
- 1:48:52Speaker 2: be available?
- 1:48:52Speaker 5: Well, because Baltimore is one in five exactly, so maybe
- 1:48:55Speaker 5: the team is also in.
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: The last year of his deal. If he's one of
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: the best guards in football, like he's part of my future.
- 1:49:02Speaker 2: Well, I don't know if that's the difference, but maybe
- 1:49:04Speaker 2: he's an older guy, but he's still one of the best.
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: I know what you're getting I don't know. I wouldn't
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: be interested in acquiring a guy. Yeah, I wouldn't be
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: interested in acquiring Okay, just say that I'm going to
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: make moves. It's going to be like to impact my teams.
- 1:49:18Speaker 5: Like what if Joe Toney was available for some reason
- 1:49:20Speaker 5: he was Oh he was available and you weren't.
- 1:49:22Speaker 2: Yeah, but I'm you know what I'm saying, Like, there's
- 1:49:26Speaker 2: other places besides running back could upgrade that would help
- 1:49:29Speaker 2: the running.
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: Get point in your Joe Tony retort. It was an
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: excellent one friend. Okay, No, I'm saying.
- 1:49:35Speaker 5: I was wrong, right, Joe tuning things?
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: Okay, I was wrong. Who's wrong? Who's a little running
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: back for the Chargers? You see this guy? But now yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: he's like with running back My point?
- 1:49:48Speaker 7: Right?
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: You said teams looking, I mean they're probably looking too. Well,
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: that's what's amazing. He's like a little Danny woodhead out there,
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: like Rico.
- 1:49:56Speaker 5: Dowell is having like two hundred yards from scrimmage and
- 1:49:58Speaker 5: the Patriots can't find a running fact they can break
- 1:50:00Speaker 5: a tackle like it just it makes no like it's
- 1:50:03Speaker 5: not a Paul and I are usually lockstep on the
- 1:50:05Speaker 5: running backs like they're a dime a dozen't and the
- 1:50:08Speaker 5: Patriots don't have a dime right now.
- 1:50:09Speaker 2: Like I just.
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: It's like crazy, But but like I don't.
- 1:50:14Speaker 2: Know, maybe with the Chargers it's the opposite. Teams are
- 1:50:18Speaker 2: giving for a bird a lot of respect and they're
- 1:50:21Speaker 2: not loading the box and that makes it easier for
- 1:50:23Speaker 2: the running back.
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:50:24Speaker 5: I would definitely be more concerned if you know, they
- 1:50:26Speaker 5: go into next week in Tennessee, and Tennessee just says
- 1:50:29Speaker 5: we're just going to play quarters in two high safeties
- 1:50:31Speaker 5: and we're gonna let's see. Maybe if they can't they.
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: Still can't run it, well we got problem.
- 1:50:36Speaker 5: But if they can, what do you say that it's chess, Matt,
- 1:50:38Speaker 5: it's fixed, that's it.
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: Then well then I would just I want to know
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: what point total is at the end.
- 1:50:44Speaker 2: Yeah, Chester's in Portland?
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: What's up? Chester?
- 1:50:52Speaker 12: How the field fellas? It feels good Born too and
- 1:50:54Speaker 12: a top the a scas man, I'm loving it. Got
- 1:50:58Speaker 12: to keep this momentum rolling because this team is coming
- 1:51:01Speaker 12: of age big time right in front of our eyes.
- 1:51:04Speaker 12: By the way, Freddy Scalavino just called said he wants
- 1:51:07Speaker 12: his sweater. The FBI is reporting that there's a Whitey
- 1:51:12Speaker 12: Bowser siding and the Patriots Dunfilter Studio aka Paul Perilla
- 1:51:17Speaker 12: with his shamrock.
- 1:51:20Speaker 13: Good stuff. Man.
- 1:51:22Speaker 12: I just gotta say it's it's really good to see
- 1:51:24Speaker 12: the Pats beat a team that they're supposed to beat,
- 1:51:26Speaker 12: even though those horrible officials almost derailed the momentum and
- 1:51:29Speaker 12: efforts there at one point. But Drake May that long
- 1:51:33Speaker 12: ball looks so beautiful, man. I mean, I think all
- 1:51:36Speaker 12: of us were on our feet on both of those throws,
- 1:51:38Speaker 12: including the one.
- 1:51:39Speaker 13: Polt that was called back.
- 1:51:40Speaker 12: But what a long ball he throws.
- 1:51:42Speaker 13: It is so pretty, you know.
- 1:51:44Speaker 12: One concerned to know, you know, we'll talk about the
- 1:51:46Speaker 12: running game today. We got worked in the trenches on
- 1:51:49Speaker 12: both sides this last game, and I think you guys
- 1:51:52Speaker 12: need to kind of elaborate on what's going on there
- 1:51:55Speaker 12: because I think we don't we need to really improve
- 1:51:57Speaker 12: in the trenches. I'm concerned that this may be at
- 1:52:00Speaker 12: you know, a long term thing that might might hurt us,
- 1:52:02Speaker 12: you know, down the road when we get against more
- 1:52:06Speaker 12: more persistent pass rushes.
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: And so on.
- 1:52:09Speaker 12: Uh, Big Mike, you know, I think elderd mentioned in
- 1:52:11Speaker 12: the post game, but Big Mike really struggled there with
- 1:52:14Speaker 12: some of the pass rush, and I think these running
- 1:52:15Speaker 12: backs just aren't getting much of an ability to get
- 1:52:18Speaker 12: to that second effort. You know, it's time to turn
- 1:52:22Speaker 12: the page quickly because I feel like Tennessee again is
- 1:52:24Speaker 12: one of those where the guard can go down a
- 1:52:26Speaker 12: little bit. Gotta, you know, continue to front load these wins.
- 1:52:29Speaker 13: We gotta front load.
- 1:52:30Speaker 12: And continue to build these wins early and often and
- 1:52:33Speaker 12: get a cushion because to me, the biggest award I
- 1:52:36Speaker 12: went with Drake way may win is AFC East Champion.
- 1:52:40Speaker 13: Baby.
- 1:52:40Speaker 12: That's where we need to start looking trying to soak
- 1:52:43Speaker 12: up some excitement for some continue winning here, guys with
- 1:52:46Speaker 12: some positive product progress. Shout out to the PFW Elite
- 1:52:50Speaker 12: and the whack pack, the best fans out there by apparel,
- 1:52:53Speaker 12: op and out.
- 1:52:53Speaker 7: Baby.
- 1:52:54Speaker 2: All right, I forgot about them, Yeah right, scriber bash
- 1:53:00Speaker 2: like elite members, they sort of separated.
- 1:53:02Speaker 1: They call themselves elite.
- 1:53:04Speaker 5: Big Mike was fine in past protection Remember the fights
- 1:53:07Speaker 5: among the elites.
- 1:53:08Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I remember they had not elite.
- 1:53:10Speaker 2: Yeah, they had Colorado Pats fan says, booties need touchdown
- 1:53:15Speaker 2: in bounds.
- 1:53:16Speaker 1: Okay on the play, Okay, yeah.
- 1:53:18Speaker 5: On the table. You can see Rabel on the sideline
- 1:53:21Speaker 5: going like this, and like then he like they stopped
- 1:53:25Speaker 5: the clock and he like looks at the ref flake.
- 1:53:28Speaker 5: What do you mean?
- 1:53:28Speaker 1: Like he was right there on it.
- 1:53:31Speaker 3: And I actually that I worried about it and it
- 1:53:34Speaker 3: turned out like it wasn't. But like if you if
- 1:53:37Speaker 3: you watch it in super slow mo from the front,
- 1:53:40Speaker 3: he sort of catches it like up around his chest
- 1:53:44Speaker 3: and the ball kind of slides down to his mid
- 1:53:46Speaker 3: section as he's falling back and his butt lands out
- 1:53:50Speaker 3: a bounds. Yeah, And I was like, oh, I don't
- 1:53:54Speaker 3: know about this challenge because the whole play is now
- 1:53:56Speaker 3: under review when you challenge, and I was afraid they're
- 1:53:59Speaker 3: going to, like especially I said this to my's not catch,
- 1:54:03Speaker 3: but the way this game has been officiated, you know,
- 1:54:06Speaker 3: like who knows what's going to come out of this.
- 1:54:09Speaker 3: And I was like, could they rule that he didn't
- 1:54:11Speaker 3: have full control when his feet came down and then
- 1:54:14Speaker 3: he didn't gain full control until he landed out of bounds. Yeah,
- 1:54:18Speaker 3: That's what I was worried about at the time.
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: Now I don't think that was the case, but.
- 1:54:22Speaker 5: I mean when they overturned it was a fumble. But
- 1:54:25Speaker 5: when they overturned the Alice punch out, I was surprised
- 1:54:28Speaker 5: just because they overturned it like that was.
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: Hard to see. That was hard to see.
- 1:54:33Speaker 3: The black uniform made it hard, but you could clearly
- 1:54:36Speaker 3: see on the punch out the wall moved. Yeah, But
- 1:54:39Speaker 3: the question was does he have control of it when
- 1:54:41Speaker 3: he hits the ground or not? Yeah, And it was
- 1:54:43Speaker 3: kind of hard to tell, But I thought that was
- 1:54:45Speaker 3: a fumble all the way.
- 1:54:46Speaker 5: I do agree with the caller about the offensive line
- 1:54:50Speaker 5: in general, though I do worry a little bit that
- 1:54:53Speaker 5: it's a kind of a house of cards, like they've
- 1:54:56Speaker 5: they've grated out really well in all the past. Production
- 1:54:59Speaker 5: metrics like much much better than last year. But there's
- 1:55:03Speaker 5: just these little kind of bubbling things under the surface
- 1:55:08Speaker 5: where I'm like, they're kind of holding this together right now,
- 1:55:12Speaker 5: but is this going to kind of kind of crack?
- 1:55:13Speaker 3: It might be the best example of May's growth is
- 1:55:18Speaker 3: I think a lot of these plays, same amount of
- 1:55:21Speaker 3: pressure last year would have resulted in different outcomes than
- 1:55:24Speaker 3: they have this year. He's been so good at I
- 1:55:27Speaker 3: think navigating the pocket and moving around, avoiding sacks to
- 1:55:31Speaker 3: evans point, protecting the ball when he's doing it. I
- 1:55:34Speaker 3: think that's an underrated part of his development, his ability
- 1:55:38Speaker 3: in the pocket, whether like it was against Buffalo where
- 1:55:41Speaker 3: he's leaving the pocket or this week were we're just
- 1:55:43Speaker 3: moving around the pocket.
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: Last year, a lot of those.
- 1:55:45Speaker 3: Plays were just like over when he got the when
- 1:55:48Speaker 3: you got that kind of pressure, like he's either throwing
- 1:55:50Speaker 3: it away or getting sacked.
- 1:55:51Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I think you know what you're You're
- 1:55:53Speaker 5: going to kind of be on this roller coaster with
- 1:55:56Speaker 5: the rookies on the left side. Like Bradbury's been solid
- 1:56:00Speaker 5: in pass protection and really kind of all around. But
- 1:56:04Speaker 5: like is that going to last? Like he wasn't very
- 1:56:06Speaker 5: good last year in Minnesota, So does that go the
- 1:56:08Speaker 5: whole season? Moses been healthy, like, you know, does he
- 1:56:12Speaker 5: stay healthy? It just if there's some of these small
- 1:56:15Speaker 5: sea concerns of like bubbling.
- 1:56:17Speaker 1: Up under the surface.
- 1:56:18Speaker 5: You know, I still can't run the ball, like the
- 1:56:21Speaker 5: offensive line is a little Yeah, it's still a little
- 1:56:25Speaker 5: bit of a question mark.
- 1:56:27Speaker 2: Barton Poland also says about the booty play, the clock
- 1:56:31Speaker 2: doesn't stop if the player goes out of bounds backwards.
- 1:56:35Speaker 2: I remember a team On's losing a game because of
- 1:56:38Speaker 2: a great job of recognizing it by Rabel and once
- 1:56:40Speaker 2: again a horrible job by the crew.
- 1:56:43Speaker 3: He didn't go out of bounce backwards, but if he was,
- 1:56:45Speaker 3: if something hit in bounds first, then that's why the
- 1:56:49Speaker 3: clock should have continued to run.
- 1:56:51Speaker 1: Yes, yep, yeah.
- 1:56:54Speaker 3: Like in other words, if nobody from the Saints touched him,
- 1:56:57Speaker 3: does he go out of bounds?
- 1:57:01Speaker 1: I think yes.
- 1:57:03Speaker 3: I think he was falling back out of bounds. But
- 1:57:05Speaker 3: if his knee hit in bounds and no one touched him,
- 1:57:10Speaker 3: it's still going to be stopping the clock because he
- 1:57:13Speaker 3: went out of bounds without getting touched.
- 1:57:15Speaker 1: But that's where the difference would be. Yep, Okay, But
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: it was a good awareness challenge.
- 1:57:23Speaker 3: Back to back weeks for Booty, huge plays, keeping the
- 1:57:27Speaker 3: clock running.
- 1:57:27Speaker 2: All right, listen, we're going to have back to back
- 1:57:29Speaker 2: show in fact, three in a row this week, like
- 1:57:31Speaker 2: we do every week during the season, So we'll be
- 1:57:34Speaker 2: back tomorrow at noon. Turn the page. We'll start to
- 1:57:37Speaker 2: look at these Tennessee Titans with their new head coach.
- 1:57:40Speaker 2: Do they get the new head coach bump?
- 1:57:43Speaker 5: They also have a new offensive line coach, which is
- 1:57:45Speaker 5: not would you quit with.
- 1:57:46Speaker 1: Your son, Paul? If we can if Will got fired
- 1:57:48Speaker 1: and you were on his staff, would you go out
- 1:57:50Speaker 1: to sure sneaky big thing. I thought he was the
- 1:57:54Speaker 1: problem to guy, I would I.
- 1:57:55Speaker 3: Would definitely, I would definitely quit if twenty.
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: Twomorrow morning, how's part? What does Barth think about all this?
- 1:58:04Speaker 1: How was he, you know, dealing with this?
- 1:58:07Speaker 5: So I think there's nobody on the planet that's more
- 1:58:10Speaker 5: excited that the Bills are kind of I mean, he
- 1:58:13Speaker 5: has been predicting it for six straight years, so he
- 1:58:16Speaker 5: might finally be onto something today that Josh Allen will
- 1:58:18Speaker 5: win a super Bowl, but it will be with a
- 1:58:20Speaker 5: different team.
- 1:58:21Speaker 1: He won't be with the Bills.
- 1:58:23Speaker 3: And I was like, oh, that's a little bit of
- 1:58:24Speaker 3: a departure because he thinks Josh Allen stinks.
- 1:58:26Speaker 5: I was like, let's calm down, all right, they're they're
- 1:58:28Speaker 5: four and two. They're not two and four.
- 1:58:29Speaker 1: All right. There, they had a couple of bad weeks.
- 1:58:33Speaker 1: How differently you can look at a FOURD. You're chiefs
- 1:58:35Speaker 1: still looking better. Their offense has been better the last
- 1:58:38Speaker 1: three weeks. Yeah. Notice why I say you're chiefs. He
- 1:58:40Speaker 1: isn't saying I don't know why they're my chiefs, But
- 1:58:42Speaker 1: you root I don't have teams. You know who you
- 1:58:44Speaker 1: root for them because fans don't. I'll tell you who
- 1:58:47Speaker 1: I want them to lose. You want them.
- 1:58:48Speaker 3: There's one team in the league outside of New England
- 1:58:51Speaker 3: that I go to root for on a regular basis,
- 1:58:53Speaker 3: and that's the ROMs.
- 1:58:54Speaker 1: The ROMs. Yeah, I like.
- 1:58:55Speaker 3: I've always liked Matthew Stafford and I just like the
- 1:58:58Speaker 3: program that they built and the fact that they did
- 1:59:01Speaker 3: it without doing it the way everybody says you have to.
- 1:59:04Speaker 1: I kind of like that.
- 1:59:04Speaker 5: They again, they loaded up, they loaded up, and now
- 1:59:09Speaker 5: they've drafted really well, They've done a lot of different things.
- 1:59:11Speaker 1: Well. I like the way the Rams have put it.
- 1:59:13Speaker 2: Again, he's rooting for something just to prove fans wrong.
- 1:59:16Speaker 1: It always doesn't matter.
- 1:59:17Speaker 2: Well, just to prove fans that's what.
- 1:59:20Speaker 1: You want to go with, that's it. I like the
- 1:59:23Speaker 1: way that they've gone about business.
- 1:59:24Speaker 7: Right.
- 1:59:25Speaker 1: Everybody says, you can't, you can't do it that way.
- 1:59:27Speaker 1: You can't sustain it, you can't sustain it. It's the
- 1:59:30Speaker 1: brainwashing from here. What round did they get Pooka in? Seventh?
- 1:59:34Speaker 5: Fifth?
- 1:59:35Speaker 1: Fifth, fourth or fifth?
- 1:59:37Speaker 2: Okay, all right, we will see you tomorrow. Hey, this
