- 0:13Hall of the General Conference Session in 2025
- 0:15in St. Louis, Missouri, the United States, wherever
- 0:19you are around the world. Welcome in. This is
- 0:21the Exhibit Hall. Many hundreds of exhibitors
- 0:24who are here sharing what Jesus is doing in their
- 0:27corner of the world and an opportunity to network,
- 0:30to encourage and be blessed as we talk with other
- 0:33exhibitors and ministries from around the globe.
- 0:36One of those ministries, is lineage lineage journey
- 0:40if i say it correctly correct and clive you and
- 0:43your colleague adam say it so much better than
- 0:46i when you pronounce lineage how do you say lineage
- 0:50lineage yes i don't know whether it's an accent
- 0:54thing or you just know how to say it better maybe
- 0:56we're lazy but anyway clive coutet from lineage
- 1:00journey thank you so much for joining us no problem
- 1:02thanks for having me I want to know about the
- 1:05ministry, but first I want to learn about you,
- 1:07who you are, and so forth. Before you tell us
- 1:09your story, would you pray with us? Yeah, no
- 1:11problem. Fire in heaven, thank you so much for
- 1:14this opportunity to be with here. Lord, I pray
- 1:16you may give me the wisdom to speak. May bless
- 1:18the audience, whoever's watching, and help us
- 1:20to have a good conversation. In your name I pray.
- 1:22Amen. Amen. Clive, just so you know, I didn't
- 1:24mention this to you ahead of time, a little housekeeping.
- 1:27We have an audience from all over the world,
- 1:29from many different faiths. And so I'm going
- 1:32to do two things for you. If you mention something
- 1:34that sounds very Adventist, and we need to clarify
- 1:36that, we'll clarify that for our audience. But
- 1:38also, you have an extraordinary accent. And sometimes
- 1:42I have a bit of a Southern accent. And so since
- 1:46yours is northern and mine is southern, we might
- 1:47have to interpret some of that language as well.
- 1:50Sounds good. Seriously, every now and then a
- 1:52word isn't clear and we have somebody from Europe
- 1:55or somebody from Africa. What was that about?
- 1:58Anyway, our accents are just what they are, right?
- 2:01Yeah, exactly. So tell me, you haven't always
- 2:04been directing and producing documentaries of
- 2:08church history. Tell us about your early years,
- 2:12your childhood. So my early years, I was raised
- 2:14in the church, Seventh -day Adventist, in London.
- 2:19But, you know, for me, church was just a building.
- 2:22So very early on in my teenage years, I had mentally
- 2:26checked out of Christianity. And I checked into
- 2:29worldly things. I'm living in an inner city.
- 2:32The friends I'm around are not into spiritual
- 2:34things. So it was easy to go down the wrong path.
- 2:36When I was about 17, I... I got very sick and
- 2:43I was told that if I had not gone to the hospital,
- 2:46I would have had 24 hours. If I'd gone to the
- 2:50hospital, sorry, 24 hours later, I would have
- 2:51lost my limbs. If I'd gone to the hospital 48
- 2:54hours later, I wouldn't have made it to the hospital.
- 2:56Basically, I would have died. And I spent a week
- 2:58in hospital recovering and I really began to
- 3:00question my life at that point. And that was
- 3:02kind of my journey back into Christianity and
- 3:04trying to find out what is it that God wants
- 3:06me to do. And for the next two or three years,
- 3:09I began searching. And I was always very interested
- 3:13in media. So my goal actually was to work in
- 3:16Hollywood. That was my long -term plan. I went
- 3:18to university. I studied a film and video degree,
- 3:20film and video production degree, with a long
- 3:22-term aim of going to Hollywood. I didn't quite
- 3:26make it to Hollywood, but I do live in California.
- 3:28So there was a connection there. I ended up in
- 3:30California, and that's where I live right now.
- 3:32But in my very last year of university, I remember
- 3:35thinking to myself, it was kind of paralleling
- 3:40with my spiritual experience. I've come back
- 3:42into church. I've made really good friends. And
- 3:44I remember coming back from church one day and
- 3:46saying to the Lord, Lord, I don't know what space
- 3:48there is for me in Adventism in media, but whatever
- 3:52it is, I want to give it to you. And I heard
- 3:54a very distinct message in my ear saying, I want
- 3:57you to start a media ministry. I want you to
- 3:59start a media ministry. And, you know, just out
- 4:02of university, got no money, spent everything
- 4:04I have on a college degree. And the immediate
- 4:08thing was, but Lord, but I don't have this, but
- 4:12I don't have that. I don't have a team member.
- 4:14That was my immediate reaction. And the Lord
- 4:17just kept saying, I want you to start a media
- 4:19ministry. And at the end of that prayer. i just
- 4:23got up from my knees and i was like okay the
- 4:25very next day a friend of mine his mother which
- 4:27i had not had this conversation with by the way
- 4:29approached me and said hey i just received a
- 4:32huge tax rebate and i was impressed to give it
- 4:34to you to buy a camera and so she gave me this
- 4:37cash so this was on sunday on monday i went to
- 4:40the store and bought my first camera And at that
- 4:42point, I'm like, now what do I do with the camera?
- 4:44I've got this camera. What do I do? Okay, so
- 4:46just as a media professional, it makes me nervous
- 4:48to hear you say you went to the store and bought
- 4:51your first camera because you and I don't buy
- 4:54our cameras today at the store, do we? We do
- 4:59some serious online shopping and looking for
- 5:01pros and cons. So you were very much in the infancy
- 5:04of media ministry if you went to the store. Yeah,
- 5:06so there's an area in London where... It's like
- 5:09a tech high street, and I went to that tech high
- 5:12street, and I walked in there, and I went with
- 5:13a friend of mine, and we looked around at all
- 5:15the cameras. I spoke to some people. Okay, so
- 5:17you did have some professional input there. Yeah,
- 5:18so I physically walked out with a new camera
- 5:21two days after my prayer request. Praise the
- 5:22Lord. And then a friend of mine. Do you still
- 5:25have the camera? I don't. I moved on since then.
- 5:27Oh, you didn't keep the camera? I didn't keep
- 5:29the camera. I actually gave it to my dad because
- 5:31my dad was very influential in my journey into
- 5:34this. What about dad? Does he still have it?
- 5:37I don't know. That's a good question. He's just
- 5:39moved house after 40 years, so I don't know what
- 5:41happened with it. Well, I'd have to ask him.
- 5:43It's a good question. You know, one of my big
- 5:44dreams is to be able to have a small museum that
- 5:47tells the story of lay people doing ministry.
- 5:52It would be great to have that camera. I'll find
- 5:54out. That's a distraction from our conversation.
- 5:57So going on, a friend of mine who came into the
- 6:00church roughly about the same time as me, he
- 6:01came from a Catholic background, and he got asked
- 6:04to preach his first sermon because, funny story,
- 6:08but he came in through an Adventist girlfriend,
- 6:11and the parents thought that he only came into
- 6:16the church because of her. So the parents ended
- 6:18up shipping the girl back to Brazil. They're
- 6:21actually from Brazil, but they were living in
- 6:23London. So they were fearful that this worldly
- 6:25guy would only come into the church to be with
- 6:28their daughter. So they sent her to Brazil to
- 6:31university. Keep her safe. Keep her safe from
- 6:33his hands. And, you know, it ended up being a
- 6:35blessing because he was able to refine and grow
- 6:36without the distraction of relationship, I guess.
- 6:39But he said to me, hey, I want to record my first
- 6:43sermon, put it on YouTube so that I can send
- 6:45it to her so she can watch it. By the way, they
- 6:49ended up getting married. They've got three kids
- 6:50now. And he's pastoring out in California as
- 6:53well. So it was a true conversion. God was in
- 6:55it. Yeah, I have to say that. So he filmed his
- 6:58first sermon. He preached his first sermon. I
- 6:59filmed it. We put it on YouTube. It ended up
- 7:01getting 250 views. Now, to you and me. That's
- 7:05not a lot, right? To the world, 250 views is
- 7:07not a lot. But to a 21 -year -old who has no
- 7:10idea what they're doing in this media ministry
- 7:13journey to put something online and with a week
- 7:16to get 250 views, me and my friend were like,
- 7:19wow, why don't we do this all the time? So we
- 7:22started this ministry where we used to start
- 7:23recording sermons and testimonies and poetry
- 7:26and music videos. one of the very first social
- 7:30media ministries and we put it out online and
- 7:33within a half a year we had 500 000 views and
- 7:36it was just growing and growing and growing and
- 7:37growing and that was my journey into media ministry
- 7:39i since got married and left that ministry and
- 7:41started on started up a few others after that
- 7:44but that was my my journey into what i believe
- 7:47god has called me to do amen um you kind of quickly
- 7:53through your childhood, your parents, were they
- 7:56in support of where you were going with this?
- 7:58Yeah, I've recently had conversations with my
- 8:00mom over the years, and she said, you know, when
- 8:02you went to university to study film and video
- 8:04production degree, she said, I just began praying
- 8:07because I knew what you wanted to do, but I didn't
- 8:10want to stop you from... doing what you believed
- 8:14you were called to do now obviously at that point
- 8:16it wasn't a Christian journey that I was on it
- 8:18was a worldly journey but God had his ideas and
- 8:21God had his plans And my mom kept praying for
- 8:24me. And here I am now doing full -time ministry.
- 8:26And she's on the booth next to me with my dad
- 8:28and helping me at the Lineage Journey booth right
- 8:31now. Yeah, I met your folks just a little while
- 8:34ago. That's really cool to be able to have your
- 8:35family with you. Yeah. Siblings? Yeah, so I'm
- 8:38the youngest of five. Oh, wow. And I have five
- 8:41older sisters. So I was kind of alone. Wait a
- 8:44second, Clive. We've got to stop and pause here.
- 8:46I have two older sisters. Okay. I'm sorry. Yeah,
- 8:50four is a lot. You know, people always ask me,
- 8:53do you wish you had a brother? I'm like, I mean,
- 8:54I think so. I've got some good brother -in -laws,
- 8:57which is a good thing. I have great sisters.
- 9:00They have been especially meaningful to me in
- 9:02some of my personal challenges in recent years
- 9:05and losing my wife. And they have been an incredible
- 9:09blessing. I won't tell you the nicknames I've
- 9:12given them, but we have gotten incredibly closer
- 9:14as we've matured. And I'm sure they have nicknames
- 9:15for you as well. Oh, I bet they do. I might have
- 9:18even heard a few of them. But now, that's as
- 9:21adults. As younger, that's really where my apologies
- 9:24were. Older sisters can be a little tough on
- 9:26you. As young kids, yeah. Even as adults from
- 9:29time to time, but definitely growing up, there
- 9:31was a little rivalry. It's funny because I have
- 9:34four kids now, and I'm done. I've stopped. and
- 9:38my eldest is a girl, and I've got three boys.
- 9:41Oh, the opposite. Almost the opposite, yeah.
- 9:44Okay, what does she think of having three brothers?
- 9:46I mean, she was extremely disappointed when the
- 9:48last one came as a brother. When we looked at
- 9:51the test results and we saw that it was a girl,
- 9:53our immediate reaction was a boy, sorry, for
- 9:56the last one. Our immediate reaction was disappointment,
- 9:58not because we were having another boy, but was
- 10:00for her. But she's since got over it, and she's
- 10:02appreciating that her brothers are going to take
- 10:05care of her when she's... when she's older and
- 10:07watch her back. So, yeah, she's a very good older
- 10:09sister. My late wife and I had three older daughters,
- 10:12and when I met my second wife, she has a boy
- 10:16and a girl, and so we have five together. And
- 10:19the girl was very excited to have the potential
- 10:22of three older sisters to help her against her
- 10:24older brother. But her older brother wasn't so
- 10:28excited about having three more sisters. More
- 10:30sisters, right, exactly. Yeah, so that dynamic
- 10:32is kind of fun. Yeah. So I want to learn more
- 10:37about where you went from the early days of that
- 10:40first camera. We're going to do that when we
- 10:41come back. I want to thank you for being a part
- 10:43of our listening and viewing audience. We are
- 10:44grateful to you for listening and watching, and
- 10:47we're also grateful for you sharing. So would
- 10:49you click the share button and let others know
- 10:51that you're being blessed by the program today?
- 10:53We'll be back in a moment with more Mission Sunlight
- 10:55Chat. Being a media missionary can mean many
- 11:07different things. It means the love of a home
- 11:09at the heart of the planet. The intrepid spirit
- 11:13of a village and the vibe of a great metropolis.
- 11:16It means camera one and camera two. It means
- 11:21transforming a school, orphanage, or hospital.
- 11:24It means fire, rain, ice, and snow. It means
- 11:29gifts by the dollar and by the check. It means
- 11:33donations that roll and donations that fly. It's
- 11:38a movement on a trail or down a motorway. It
- 11:42means family. All of us together. And individually.
- 11:48It's who you are or who you are becoming. And
- 11:53to her, it's a simple gesture that means hope.
- 11:57Whatever it means to you, being a media missionary.
- 12:00means more than you might think. Welcome back
- 12:11to Mission Sunlight Chat. We are at the General
- 12:13Conference Session Exhibit Hall, not in our usual
- 12:16digs in our studio, but we are in St. Louis,
- 12:18Missouri in the United States. Listen, wherever
- 12:20you are watching or listening, welcome to the
- 12:23program. We're thankful that you are joining
- 12:25us. I'm Christopher Beeson, your host. Jordan
- 12:27Wagner over on the production side of things
- 12:29as we look at the Exhibit Hall. Hundreds of exhibitors
- 12:31here in St. Louis, and we are grateful for every
- 12:33one of them because that means... They're sharing
- 12:36the story of Jesus as we're attempting to share
- 12:38the story of Jesus, specifically the stories
- 12:40behind mission and ministry. And one of those
- 12:44ministries, Lineage Journey. Lineage Journey.
- 12:47Lineage. Yes, indeed. Clive Coutet, thanks for
- 12:52joining us. No problem. Hey, tell us, since you've
- 12:55set me straight on the proper pronunciation,
- 12:57tell us about Lineage. So Lineage started 2016.
- 13:02It actually started a few years ago in my mind.
- 13:04And I would say, you know, God planted a seed.
- 13:06I was actually reading through The Great Controversy
- 13:08and I was really struggling. And a translation
- 13:11is controversy for anyone who doesn't. He needs
- 13:13to understand what I'm saying. The Great Controversy,
- 13:16as we say in England. I was reading through that
- 13:18book. And what I do is I read, like, say the
- 13:21chapter on a chapter on Martin Luther. Luther's
- 13:24separation from Rome or whatever. And I'd go
- 13:26online and I'd try and find good resources to
- 13:29go along with that. And I was struggling. Everything
- 13:32was either really old or outdated or long. And
- 13:36as a millennial, I didn't find there was shorter
- 13:39content that really related to me or really had
- 13:42some kind of appeal to move me to action. So,
- 13:46wait a second. This search was just a personal
- 13:48search? You weren't looking to share, hey...
- 13:50show somebody else something no this was completely
- 13:52personal okay so it's completely personal and
- 13:54i remember um adam shares this so i know i know
- 13:58he's okay with it i remember the idea came was
- 14:00like why don't i why don't we create some or
- 14:02i create some short videos i mean god has blessed
- 14:04me with the gift of being able to record and
- 14:06media production And it's what I'm trained in.
- 14:09Why don't I shoot some things? So I actually
- 14:11approached someone else who was a friend of mine
- 14:14and said, hey, what do you think about doing
- 14:15this? And, you know, he kind of like sort of
- 14:17fobbed me off and was umming and ahhing. I don't
- 14:19really have the time and this, that and the other.
- 14:21And then it just kind of went to the back of
- 14:22my mind, but it was still there. And around the
- 14:26same time, not around the same time, sorry, a
- 14:29few years later. I was actually outside the British
- 14:33Museum with Adam. He was the youth director of
- 14:36the North Fingon Conference at the time. And
- 14:38we were working together because I was making
- 14:40short devotionals, which would release every
- 14:42single Friday, just something scriptural for
- 14:44the young people. Two, three minutes, a Friday
- 14:46devotional. We put it on YouTube and we were
- 14:48very, very consistent every single Friday. And
- 14:50we were outside there and we knew that 2017 was
- 14:53the Reformation 500 -year anniversary. So I said
- 14:59to Adam, hey, why don't we do Reformation devotionals
- 15:04and why don't you just do it, right? We can just
- 15:07do them at London. There's so many sites in London.
- 15:09And he thought about it and he was like, yeah,
- 15:11this is not a bad idea. I think we should do
- 15:14this. We could release them on the North England
- 15:16Conference YouTube channel. So we ended up thinking
- 15:22about it more. We prayed about it and we kind
- 15:26of left it at that. This happened in like, August,
- 15:28maybe. So, you know, autumn is coming. Winter's
- 15:32coming. Bad months for filming. Winter. Dark
- 15:34nights. Early mornings, which are still dark.
- 15:39As the conversations kept going, he said, well,
- 15:42if we're going to do London, we may as well just
- 15:44do England. You know, it's quite a small place,
- 15:46which is cover England. A week later, he was
- 15:48like, if we're going to do England, we may as
- 15:50well do Wales and Scotland. And before you knew
- 15:52it, he was like, you know, I think Europe's pretty
- 15:55close. It's pretty cheap to travel back and forth
- 15:58on a flight or a drive somewhere. We may as well
- 16:00cover some of the sites in Europe. And that's
- 16:02kind of how the ministry was born. Now, the concept
- 16:05of the ministry was not to create this massive
- 16:07media product. production ministry that's going
- 16:10to reach the masses. It simply was for our young
- 16:12people in the North England Conference. And when
- 16:15we created the first few episodes, we felt that
- 16:18we were onto something. But still, there was
- 16:19no idea that this would go to America and Australia.
- 16:22And, you know, I've got so many stories of where
- 16:24they've ended up. But that wasn't the goal. The
- 16:27goal was to reach our local people. And God just
- 16:30took it and blessed it and multiplied it. And
- 16:32now we've been going for eight years. And both
- 16:35myself and Adam about a year ago went full time
- 16:37to the ministry. It's been kind of on the side
- 16:39for the time being and before then. So that's
- 16:43kind of the journey into how it started. And
- 16:45we've kind of gone full circle now where we've
- 16:47just recorded. We just produced our very own
- 16:50great controversy that has pictures and QR codes
- 16:53to videos. We have a video for each chapter.
- 16:55And it's amazing to see how God took it from
- 16:58the initial idea. And he's just morphed it into
- 17:00something so much more. But I can't take any
- 17:04credit for that. That was all God who just took
- 17:05the ministry where it is right now. Amen. Amen.
- 17:08When Adam was on the program, and I don't know
- 17:11if his episode will air before yours or after
- 17:13yours, but when he was on the program, we were
- 17:17able to show just a clip of the lineage journey.
- 17:22I don't remember which clip he selected. But
- 17:26if it's okay with you, we're going to just randomly
- 17:28select one of those clips and show that for folks
- 17:30now. Yep. We serve a God who has an element of
- 17:51drama about him. In the stories such as the crossing
- 17:54of the Red Sea, we see God deliver his people
- 17:57at the critical moment when it seems all hope
- 18:00is lost. Likewise, at the end of time, God will
- 18:03deliver his people right at the end when the
- 18:06destruction is imminent. At the same time, a
- 18:09rainbow will appear in the sky and seem to encircle
- 18:13each praying group. In the midst of this contrast
- 18:16with the turmoil on earth, the voice is heard
- 18:19in the heavens declaring the words of Revelation
- 18:2116 verse 17. It is done. Revelation 16 says there'll
- 18:35be a mighty earthquake such as never before.
- 18:38Mountain chains will sink, inhabited islands
- 18:40will disappear, and the seaport cities known
- 18:43for their wickedness will be swallowed up. Then
- 18:46verse 21 say that giant hailstones will fall
- 18:49from the sky. the prison cells will be burst
- 18:52open and God's people who have been held captive
- 18:55will be set free. The graves are also opened
- 18:58as mentioned in Daniel 12 verse 2 with a special
- 19:01resurrection for those who pierced Jesus mentioned
- 19:03in Revelation 1 and verse 7. The elements are
- 19:07in turmoil both in the skies and on earth with
- 19:11thunder and lightnings and those who derided
- 19:14and denied God, the most fearful in the presence
- 19:17of his awesome power. Amidst this, a voice is
- 19:29heard in heaven declaring the day and hour of
- 19:31Jesus' return. And then a small black cloud appears
- 19:35in the east about the size of a man's hand. This
- 19:39is the cloud that surrounds Jesus. And slowly
- 19:41as it gets closer, it becomes brighter and more
- 19:44glorious until it is a great... Here is Jesus
- 19:48returning as a crowned king, surrounded by 10
- 19:51,000 times 10 ,000 and 1 ,000 ,000 angels. The
- 19:56righteous cry out, who is able to stand? And
- 19:59Jesus responds, my grace is sufficient for you.
- 20:06Clive, thanks for sharing that with us. I want
- 20:08to come back in a moment and talk a little bit
- 20:10more about what is next in the lineage journey.
- 20:15And if we have time, we might show folks a little
- 20:18bit more of the lineage journey that has been
- 20:22produced because it is not only fascinating,
- 20:25it is transformative for someone who isn't aware
- 20:30of the literacy, the literalness, if you will,
- 20:35of the great controversy that we're all in. We'll
- 20:39come back in just a moment. Thank you to our
- 20:41listeners and viewers. We are grateful to have
- 20:42you along. We're thankful for your prayers. Please
- 20:45keep praying for us and know that we are praying
- 20:47for you as well. We will be back in a moment
- 20:50with more Mission Sunlight Chat. is reconnecting
- 21:09ourselves with the Creator. We must learn to
- 21:15abide in Jesus now. We move ahead with our mission
- 21:19objectives, recognizing that we are serving together
- 21:22the Most High God. welcome back to mission sunlight
- 21:37chat we are at the general conference session
- 21:39in the exhibit hall here in 2025 but in st louis
- 21:45missouri you may be watching this in 2025 2026
- 21:48or who knows when at any rate we are thankful
- 21:51to be here right now with all the exhibitors
- 21:54because it's hundreds of exhibitors who are sharing
- 21:57what jesus is doing around the world and we get
- 22:01to be one of those exhibitors and one of the
- 22:02privileges that jordan and i have had and others
- 22:05in our ministry have had is traveling around
- 22:08the globe about 98 countries 100 countries that
- 22:12we've been able to visit i know when we hit that
- 22:14hundredth jordan we're planning on having a a
- 22:16good celebration to welcome that. But Mission
- 22:19Sunlight has been able to tell the story of Jesus
- 22:21around the globe, and that's what many of these
- 22:23ministries are doing. I also want to mention
- 22:26that with Connection is an opportunity for us
- 22:30to know who you are and you to ask questions.
- 22:32So do that. MissionSunlight .org is one place
- 22:35you can go. 1 -423 -855 -4877 is the number if
- 22:41you want to text us or call us. And then email
- 22:43is easy too, hello at missionsunlight .org. However
- 22:47you feel connecting, we are grateful to have
- 22:49that. And if you want to give, if you text us
- 22:51and say donate, we can send you the link or missionsunlight
- 22:53.org. There's a link to click donate right there
- 22:56at the bottom of the page. Easy enough for you
- 22:58to keep in touch and also to give. So thank you
- 23:00for your support of our ministry. Another ministry,
- 23:04media ministry, that we are delighted to have
- 23:06on the program and also delighted to partner
- 23:09with in any way that we can is Lineage Journey.
- 23:12I'm just curious, where did you come up with
- 23:14the name? You know, it was actually Justin Kim
- 23:16who works at the Adventist Review. I'm really
- 23:20good friends with Adam. He came up with the name
- 23:21and at first I hated it. There was a whole list
- 23:24of different options that came. And I just like,
- 23:27nah, that's not the one. There was, you know,
- 23:29our first videos were all about the Reformation.
- 23:30So there was Reformation history. There was like
- 23:33stuff to do with the 95 thesis. We ended up settling
- 23:38on lineage. It grew on me. And I'm thankful that
- 23:41we did because it opens up so much more that
- 23:44we can do than if we had limited ourselves just
- 23:46to the Reformation. Tell me what lineage means
- 23:48to you. So lineage means exploring a spiritual
- 23:51history. So understanding your lineage, like
- 23:54where you've come from, so you can know where
- 23:56you are right now, so you know where you're going.
- 23:58So that's kind of our motto that we stand by.
- 24:01You need to understand your past, to understand
- 24:02your present, to know where you're going in the
- 24:04future. Amen. You know, that's kind of the line
- 24:06that we follow here with Mission Sunlight. Tell
- 24:08us about your past, tell us about what you're
- 24:09doing, and then tell us about where you're hoping
- 24:11to go. Exactly. With encouraging word at the
- 24:13end. So that's a similar... Trajectory. Yes.
- 24:17Thank you. So speaking of trajectory, what's
- 24:20next for Lenny's Journey? So we actually have
- 24:22a series coming out in the next few weeks on
- 24:24women in Christian history. We have a book at
- 24:26our booth that we've been selling for a few years
- 24:29now called Sisters in Arms, and it's all about
- 24:31women in the Reformation. And it was one of our
- 24:33bestsellers. People were telling us, like, why
- 24:36haven't you guys done anything more on the women?
- 24:37Because, you know, some of the stories are incredible.
- 24:39Martin Luther's wife, for example, Catherine
- 24:41of Umbora, she was rescued from a nunnery, and
- 24:44she had to hide and f**k. barrels while she was
- 24:46carted in a horse with some other nuns to safety
- 24:49and then eventually you know down the line ends
- 24:53up marrying Martin Luther so there's stories
- 24:55like that that people don't know about so we've
- 24:57created a whole series I think it's 22 episodes
- 24:59we filmed it all of last year we're at the final
- 25:02stages of post -production we've also produced
- 25:04a accompanying podcast just for the women as
- 25:07well exploring some of the themes and topics
- 25:09that some of these people went through don't
- 25:11worry myself and Adam don't feature in it it's
- 25:13actually our wives so it's our wives hosting
- 25:15the podcast talking and it's kind of this informal
- 25:17chat with four women just talking about how this
- 25:22history is relevant to them today and how it
- 25:24can help them in some of the problems that are
- 25:26arising in the world. We're just currently right
- 25:29now releasing a series on the 1888 and that's
- 25:33been hugely successful as well. And we've got
- 25:35plans coming up for next year. We're looking
- 25:38at doing a series on the history of religious
- 25:41liberty. You know, religious liberty is really
- 25:44important right now with what's happening even
- 25:46in the US and around the world and how church
- 25:49and state are kind of starting to collide a bit
- 25:51more and more and more. So just looking at the
- 25:53history behind how that started, the Magna Carta,
- 25:57even going back to Egypt and looking at some
- 25:59of the religious liberty issues back then with
- 26:01Israel and Egypt. So, yeah, that's what's exciting
- 26:05for the future. Doesn't sound like you have much
- 26:07going on at all. Yeah, we have a good five -year
- 26:09plan in operation right now. So, yeah, we're
- 26:12excited. Yeah, amen. I want to go to, you mentioned
- 26:16women in the Reformation. nudged you in that
- 26:22direction? I mean, there's so many angles you
- 26:24could take with the Reformation. What nudged
- 26:25you in that direction? I know you said people
- 26:27were asking about women, but why specifically
- 26:29in the Reformation? It was really because of
- 26:31the demand of that book. You know, it wasn't
- 26:33in our radar to do it, apart from when our colleague,
- 26:37basically, Suki is her name. She's part of our
- 26:39team. She does our blog posts. She does all our
- 26:41writing for our books. And she was actually writing
- 26:45some blog posts on Women for Women History Month.
- 26:48or Women's Month, sorry. And so she would do
- 26:50a weekly blog post, and they're doing really
- 26:53well. And she started doing all this research,
- 26:55and she started to find out there's not actually
- 26:57that much modern information on some of these
- 27:00topics. So that began her research and her drive
- 27:04into creating new resources. So she created two
- 27:08or three books, and we have them at our booth
- 27:10over there. And they've done so well that the
- 27:13demand has been just like, hey, can you guys
- 27:15do a video series that accompany this? So that
- 27:17was why we decided to do that. Amen. Your team,
- 27:22you mentioned Suki. Suki, yeah. And I know Adam.
- 27:26I know you. How many else are on the team? So
- 27:29myself and Adam are the only full -time employees
- 27:30at the moment. We have been for the last year.
- 27:32And then we have a few part -timers. We have
- 27:34someone who helps us with filming. He's out in
- 27:36the Philippines. We have someone else in Australia,
- 27:38which is Suki. She does the majority of our writing
- 27:40on our website and our resources and books. Photographer,
- 27:43illustrator, and graphic designer. He's out in
- 27:46England. Social media manager. He's out in England
- 27:49as well. So we're mainly a group of volunteers.
- 27:53But in the last year, a few of us have managed
- 27:56to transition into full -time employment. Yeah.
- 27:58It is an interesting journey to be in faith -based
- 28:01ministry. 100%. 100%. Because you depend on others
- 28:05to have the call on their heart of God to support.
- 28:09And you wholly, wholly depend on God to give
- 28:14you the ideas, what's next. Because you don't
- 28:16want to be on a journey without him, right? Exactly.
- 28:20So, yeah, I empathize with the work that you
- 28:24do and I sit in awe. I'm really blessed by lineage
- 28:28and the media that you're sharing. Praise the
- 28:31Lord. Thank you. Do you have, I'm curious about
- 28:36demographics. That's the word I want. Demographics.
- 28:41Do you have an idea of the age you started trying
- 28:43to reach your late teens, 20 -somethings, right?
- 28:46Do you have an idea of the demographics you're
- 28:48reaching now? Yeah. We managed to hit that target.
- 28:51One thing that we've noticed over the years is...
- 28:54the short form content has got even shorter.
- 28:57So in a sense where, you know, when we first
- 29:00started, you know, five minutes was kind of the
- 29:02benchmark and then it kind of transitioned two,
- 29:05three minutes. And now, now you've got people
- 29:06for 15 seconds, you know, 15 seconds to a minute.
- 29:09So we're looking at that to try and reach that
- 29:11audience again, to get, to get it low on, on
- 29:13your TikTok, TikToks and your Instagrams and,
- 29:15and places like that. So, but based on our website
- 29:19analytics, we've managed to hit, Pretty much
- 29:24what we wanted to, which is probably the 17 to
- 29:2735 age category. It's really hard for us to give
- 29:31an exact number because churches are playing
- 29:33this every week in their churches. We got a message
- 29:36a couple of years ago that people are going through
- 29:39some of our resources in prisons. We have universities
- 29:43and schools who play them in their classrooms.
- 29:45That's both college. That's both doctorate. That's
- 29:48all the way down to academy, high school, elementary.
- 29:53is so broad um so we over the years we've started
- 29:56to try and narrow in on some of the resources
- 29:57that we're creating for some of those specific
- 29:59people um but yeah you know you can always do
- 30:01better to reach a younger audience so we're actively
- 30:04on a journey to try and do that but we're hitting
- 30:07a good amount of people in the 17 to 35 age You've
- 30:10touched on something that's meaningful to me,
- 30:11and I've looked at the camera and I've looked
- 30:13at our audience and I said, you know, when you
- 30:15give us feedback, when you text us, when you
- 30:18email us, that's meaningful to us. It truly is
- 30:20meaningful, isn't it? When you find out somebody's
- 30:24listening in prison or using materials in prison
- 30:26or in a home or whatever. It doesn't happen that
- 30:31often, but a few times a year somebody will text
- 30:33me a picture of themselves or a picture of their
- 30:35church screen where they're watching Mission
- 30:37Sunlight at the church. Man, that feels good
- 30:39to know that the resources, it isn't an arrogance
- 30:41thing. It just feels good to know it's being
- 30:43used. Yeah, exactly. Know that people value it
- 30:45and, excuse me, that they find it to be useful.
- 30:49Another thing. With Mission Sunlight Chat, we've
- 30:52been broadcasting for, I don't know when this
- 30:55one will air, but at this particular moment in
- 30:57history, as we record it, we've been on for almost
- 30:59two full years. August 1st, 2023 was our first
- 31:04episode. And when somebody says, hey, I've been
- 31:10watching, I've been running. And I've been listening
- 31:13or I've been watching while I've been working
- 31:15in my kitchen or whatever. And that's happened
- 31:17a few times. And it's just, you know, passing
- 31:18by when I'm visiting a church, speaking or whatever.
- 31:21Those kind of things are important to ministries
- 31:23like us. Donations are nice. Prayers are important.
- 31:28But to get a personal response, to know. It's
- 31:32doing something for someone. And just to echo
- 31:34that, it's almost like God always delivers that
- 31:36when you need it the most. Because, you know,
- 31:38in any line of ministry, sometimes you have discouraging
- 31:41days. Sometimes you have really good days. But
- 31:43I've often found when I've been at the most discouraged
- 31:45over something, something hasn't gone to plan,
- 31:47God will pop in that testimony from someone that
- 31:50says, hey, I watched all your videos and I was
- 31:52a Methodist and then I went into your series
- 31:54on Adventist history and then I ended up being
- 31:56baptized. So those kind of things, you're just
- 31:59like, wow, you know, thank you, Lord. I needed
- 32:01that. that right time forgive me for my discouragement
- 32:03you know uh not long ago i won't tell you how
- 32:07long ago but not long ago i was feeling okay
- 32:09is this is this making any difference to anybody
- 32:13and almost at that moment someone walked up to
- 32:18me and said i just finished watching four or
- 32:21five of the Mission Sunlight Chat episodes. And
- 32:23I'm like, what? I mean, I enjoyed the programs,
- 32:26but I don't know that I'd watch five. That's
- 32:28two and a half hours of watching straight through.
- 32:31That's somebody who's pretty committed to watching
- 32:33the program. And that's a blessing. I went, whoa,
- 32:36we need to keep doing this. Yeah, exactly. Praise
- 32:38the Lord. Felt better. Yeah. Clive, anything
- 32:41else you want to tell us about Lineage? I think
- 32:45we've covered a good amount there. How can they
- 32:48connect with you if they want to learn more?
- 32:49Yeah, if you want to learn more, you can either
- 32:50go to our YouTube channel, youtube .com forward
- 32:53slash Lineage Journey, at Lineage Journey on
- 32:54any of our social media platforms, Facebook,
- 32:56Instagram, YouTube. But if you really want to
- 33:00get in contact with us directly and explore some
- 33:02more of our resources, lineagejourney .com. We
- 33:05have a donate page there. We're a fully 501c3
- 33:08over in the U .S. now, which we haven't always
- 33:11been because we've been in England, but we are
- 33:13set up over here now, and we pretty much completely
- 33:16run on donations, so that really helps as well.
- 33:19But we'd just love to hear from you. How are
- 33:20the resources being used? Where are they being
- 33:22used? Send us a picture of your church or classroom
- 33:25or whoever is watching our resources because
- 33:26that always is helpful and encouragement to see
- 33:29how many people are actually able to engage with
- 33:30our stuff. Lineagejourney .com. We'll put that
- 33:33in the bio as well so people can find that, click
- 33:35on that, and go and connect with you and perhaps
- 33:38give a gift. Yeah. It'd be a blessing, wouldn't
- 33:40it? Yeah, blessing. Before we wrap up, would
- 33:41you share an encouraging word to our listeners
- 33:42and viewers? Yeah. There's a scripture that always
- 33:46comes to mind. Those who are faithful in little
- 33:48are faithful in much. It's Luke 16, verse 10.
- 33:51The reason I love this scripture is because Joseph
- 33:54is one of my favorite characters in the Bible.
- 33:56And as Joseph is going through his journey from
- 33:59being thrown in a pit to being a slave in Egypt
- 34:02to then being thrown in prison for something
- 34:04he actually didn't do, he was faithful to just
- 34:07trust in the word of God and trust in God and
- 34:09stay connected to him. And something that I love
- 34:14is that... He had to go through all those processes
- 34:17in order to be trained for greater usefulness.
- 34:20There's a quote by an inspired author that I
- 34:23love. And she says that he was being trained
- 34:25for greater usefulness. So even though you're
- 34:28discouraged and go through difficult times, be
- 34:30faithful in the little because Joseph had no
- 34:32idea that he was going to be second in command
- 34:34in Egypt. But he had to go through all that training
- 34:37so that God would allow him to be used for something
- 34:39greater. So I encourage everyone who's watching,
- 34:41who's going through difficulties, maybe just
- 34:43see that difficulty. training, that maybe God
- 34:45has something better planned for you and he needs
- 34:48you to go through this experience to train you
- 34:50to be better prepared for what's coming next.
- 34:53Clive, thank you for sharing that thought. It's
- 34:55encouraging to me. And thank you for being a
- 34:58brother in faith -based media ministry. Amen.
- 35:01Thank you. It's good to spend time with you and
- 35:03also with Adam and your family. It was nice meeting
- 35:05you and your kids. Yeah, my kids just popped
- 35:07up in front of here. If anybody's watching any
- 35:09of the other episodes from the general conference
- 35:11session here in the exhibit hall, we were sitting
- 35:13here one day with a guest. I don't remember who
- 35:14the guest was, but I'm sitting right here and
- 35:16up walks this little boy with a lineage journey
- 35:18card. And he says, here, come over and see our
- 35:21booth. And I realized it was one of your sons
- 35:24walking around to greet me. Kept my eye off him
- 35:26for a second. And he's a little evangelist. He's
- 35:28a soldier for the kingdom. Amen. Right, right,
- 35:31right. Jordan, before we close, would you mind
- 35:33wrapping us up in a word of prayer? Gladly. Let's
- 35:35have prayer. Heavenly Father, we thank you for
- 35:38ministries just like lineage. We thank you for
- 35:40lineage and telling the history of the church
- 35:42and what you do in. people's lives in the past,
- 35:47but it also shows us that you're working in our
- 35:49lives now because if you cared about the past,
- 35:51you care about us now. And I pray that you'll
- 35:53continue to bless them in their ministry and
- 35:55help us to see where you're working in our lives.
- 35:59Help us to look for those little things that
- 36:00you do for us and help us to be listening for
- 36:03the big things that you want us to do for you
- 36:05and be willing to move off of center so that
- 36:08we can achieve something for your kingdom. We
- 36:11pray this in your name. Amen. Amen. Amen. Thank
- 36:14you, Jordan. Again. Thank you, Clive. And thank
- 36:16you to our audience who is participating by listening
- 36:19and watching. We are grateful to have you along
- 36:21with us on this journey, if I can say that. MissionSunlight
