- Nate: Tonight on the North American Friends Movie Club. A modern detective. A town with a terrible secret. And a tree that bleeds blood. We watched the 1999 gothic horror film Sleepy Hollow. SAA Slip into your investigatory spectacles. And gather at the church for some accusations. Because we're the most headless horsemen in podcasting. And this show is our horse. This is what it sounds like when we do a podcast. We're currently doing one. This is the North American Friends Movie Club, and you might notice something about the name of our show. And that's Friends comes before a movie club because it's simply more important to us. It's as important to us as heads are to the horsemen. Yep. So I gotta ask my two little horsemen how we horsein. Woohoo. You guys ever ridden a horse? Yeah. One time it was scary. Cause I was little. I was really little. So you're way up high. You're too high on a horse when you're little. They're very big. Yeah, I didn't like it. I feel like if I r tried to ride a horse now, all the pr like the good horse riders I see, it's a lot of hip action. And I would try to be good right away with the hip action and I would look like I was humping the horse. And I don't want that. I think when you ride a horse, it there is some humping. Or natural hump. There is a natural hump. Yeah. It's some ride it's not humping. You 'cause you're not going forward, you're going up and down. I feel like I would be going forward and back. That's why there are a lot of innuendos in the sexual realm that relate to riding a horse. Save a horse ride a cowboy. Do it horse style. Yeah. you guys can I tell you what's been happening? I I would love to. Jules and I went to her first concert and it was Casey Musgraves. And on the way there, I needed to talk to her about truck nuts. And say truck nuts? Yes. Do you guys know what truck nuts are? Yes. Do you have those in Canada? I've never seen them in the wild, but I have seen pictures. I live in Alberta. I live in like the home of the truck nut. Yeah. So I had to explain them and she couldn't understand, which I loved. And so then I had to show her a photo and she was like, What kind of person would put that on their car? That's right. And I was like great question. That is a great question. Asking the right questions. She is. And sh and she said, We I'm gonna get some for Mr. Nick. And I said, Okay. I do you think he's the kind of person that would have that on his car? And she laughed and said yes, which means no. That yeah. Got his ass. So then we go to the concert and Casey Musgraves is just a beautiful woman and a lovely singer. She's great voice. And Comes down with a disco ball of truck nuts and she sits on it and sings a song, and it's just delightful. And I think we should do more things like that in concert. Wait a second. You glossed over that quickly. She kind came down on a disco ball or a thing of So it's truck nuts that look like a disco ball, you know, the covered and pieces of glass. I don't like that. I don't like that. I like it a lot. I'm glad you clarified because I was th imagining that each mirror was a truck nut. So it was like a circle with like ten thousand glittering truck nuts on it. It's the the circle is the nut. The it's a very large truck nut that she is sitting between the nuts on a seat and it's all fast deference. Yeah. Yes. Yeah. Like Miley Cyrus on the wrecking ball, but she came in on the truck nuts. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. And they weren't moving. no hair. No hair. No hair, thank God. Yeah. Let's before we go to your next what's happening, let's not gloss over the fact that our co host Catherine here put together a fit. And when we talk about letting the fit where you were you're wearing a fit, she wore this fit into the fucking ground. Thank you, Brent. She had the coolest little fucking hat, which makes me just so mad. She threw a skirt. I really like cats. I did have a s I did have a s yeah. I'll get to this. she had a scarf. She had a Canadian tuxedo on, shorts, and then she had what I liked was a very cool ma move. I don't know if this was on purpose, but she had a a flesh colored belt around her shorts which made it look because she was wearing a crop top. But being the this no but being the modest being the modest mom she was, she obviously didn't have a crop top on, but it looked like a crop top. And then we go down south and she has these knee high I say camel hair boots with black socks underneath pulled up over the knee. She put together a fit. And it's let's just let's give it up for the the the Missouri D.Va, the Kansas City Queen. Kansas City Queen. Casey Musgraves was jealous. And Casey had she had on Canadian tuxedo too. So I felt like I I got it. I got it. You know what I mean? I don't think because you're middle aged that you have to dress, I don't know. Like, Was the belt was the belt was that? It's the belt I wear all the time. No, it's my like I have two belts and that's a belt. Okay, well, I was just thinking that you were put I just thought that's a clever little trick of the eye there she did. Okay. I have an amazing idea. I think this could be a million dollar idea. I'm ready for it. And I don't know why it's not a thing. And it is you should be able to go somewhere and get your back scratched. Why can I not pay people to scratch my back? It's probably the the the thing that I like the form of intimacy I'm most interested in is getting my back scratched. I find back scratching sometimes more satisfying than sexual intercourse. Yeah, me too. The the sounds I make when I get my back scratched are the almost probably the same, if not more. Than when I'm engaging in coitus. It's not the same, like the back scratcher is not the same. No, no. Because I like to direct people where I want the scratching done. Whereas Nick is more reserved and I have to tell him, Now tell me where and then he'll tell me. And Nick is not a very vocal person, but he scratches back. And Everybody likes getting their back scratched. It's like especially with lady nails. Right? and Nick is so like doesn't want to like hurt anyone and he's like barely I'm like you got he's the company with hot dogs. So he was saying, what was his point? He made some point about I think you could make some kind of glove that had different kinds of scratching on it. Like maybe you don't want it too sharp. You want a little more you know what I mean? A textured glove. A textured sc a text textured back scratching glove. And it's fingerless too. So it's like you got like stuff on the nails for scratching, but then you also get like you could you you need fingers too. You need it all. We're gonna get in the lab on this one. For I'm serious though. Why is this not a thing? Back scratching glove. A little a little tube that squirts out lotion from the thumb. Nice. Like spider. Why do we no, I don't want lotion on speak during your segment anymore. That's what we're doing. Well, if you're gonna have bad ideas. Okay. Well it's like if we had a special kind of brainstorming here where it's if you got bad ideas you get dunked on. We don't want to brainstorming. No, but for real, I don't want lotion when my back is being scratched. I want lotion to rub. No, I want a dry rub. Now maybe now Brent, I think that should be offered. That's what a gentleman does. He always offers lotion. I feel like lotion is a massage. I don't know what you're getting here. A scratch or massage. No, it's it's we're talking scratch. To me, I would like to have the option of the the the lotion in the thumb gun to offer. So I don't have to leave the situation. go so you could transfer from scratch to massage. Yeah, like if I said, Hey, do you want some lotion? And they said yes, I would just press the button, the The lotion will come out of the thumb and then we're a massage city. Instead of me having to get up, find a lotion, bumping around into things. Sure. I just I'm I'm just so anti-massage right now and pro scratching that I can't even Yep. Nothing wrong with that. Okay, so I'm speaking at another conference. This time it's outside of the city, and I have to stay the night somewhere. Okay, Ted Talk. Okay, Ted Talk. Exactly. Thank you. However This is still a month out. And they're like, gate your hotel room. And I'm like, absolutely. I call. They are completely booked. I cannot stay. I am a speaker in this conference. And I cannot stay in the hotel where the conference is held. And I was really a grumpy about that yesterday. And I'm still kind of grumpy about it today. I'd be furious. Yeah. I might consider canceling it. Yeah. Yeah. Put that on the table. What fucking rinky dink operation are they running? So there's a block of rooms and they were like, Well, the block of rooms is full. And I was like, Okay, is a block of rooms just like a discounted rate? And she was like, Yeah, it's the salespeople have whatever negotiated a rate. She's like, I can see if there are rooms outside of the block of rooms. I'm like, Yeah, absolutely. She was like, we're we're full in the entire hotel. And I was like, She was like, Well, would you like to stay the next night? I was like, No, I don't want to stay the next night. That doesn't make sense. So I have to stay off site. Hate to see it. And I'm going by myself. I'm mad for you. This what you this is fucking bullshit. It'd be funny if this was if it was just the meeting of the juggle Ozo. This is what you were speaking at. This is the Missouri Mental Health Counselors Association conference in of jugalos. Of juggalos. Last thing. Now, we're not moving on until everyone answers this question. Okay. Okay. I watched Ted Lasso last night. Yeah. And the the arc of Ted in the episode was he needed to describe himself in three words. And so we all have to describe ourselves in three words. Lighthearted. Okay. Like it. Curious. Absolutely. Forgiven. my god. Brent? Nice. That's so good. Nice. Brent lasso. That's right. Mm-hmm. Nate, do is this hard for you or easy for you? Maybe it's hard because I like I think of lots of things about myself. I think of many good things and bad things and medium things of myself. So picking just three is difficult. I would say steady. Think I'm I think I'm steady head. Mm-hmm. I would say sensitive. Mm-hmm. Sweet little boy. Mm-hmm. And I would say Funny. There you I like it. Yeah, I'm funny. When you said sensitive, immediately what popped into my head was the Lily of the West. Thank you. I would like you I would like that to become one of my nicknames. I like that. Picture having a leather vest with that branded into a hot fire brand. Lily of the West? Yeah with a lily of Ooh. I would wear. It would. I want it to be one of those like W what was that wrestling guy, Jimmy, who was always in the rose jackets? What was that guy? Who Jimmy Well Mouth of the South? Jimmy Jimmy Hart. No. Jimmy Hart, Mouth of the South. That's not Jimmy is. Well, it's it's Hart. It's is yeah, Jimmy Hurt, Mouth of the South, yeah. Let's let me Google that. Yeah, it doesn't Jimmy Hart doesn't sound right. I know it's Hart, but that's gonna I'm gonna be so now. I want like one of those flowery jackets, but it's lilies down the arms. Lily is one of my favorite scents. It's a beautiful story. Do you want to hear my favorite Jimmy Hart story? I'd love to. Of course. he was traveling with somebody and the person that left the hotel, and the person called and it rang four times, and Jimmy Hart picked up and he identified himself. That's just me, your buddy, and he's like, I was just in the shower. And the guy said, I you could have just called me back, no big deal. He's like, You never miss a call in this business, baby. I like can't. I remember you telling us story. Yes. I remember you telling us the story. What are the odds I've told the Jimmy Harris story twice? Well, it's a good story. What a world. I thought in my three, and they are so rude of us for not asking. sorry. I was waiting for I knew she was gonna come in with it. No, it's okay. earnest, philosophical, and silly. Yep. Yep. Yep. Because you can think of so many but don't leave you have more. You know what I mean? Like I have so many. I if I really spent time I could give you a t thirty, forty list. That is also on the movie poster for Ernest Goes to Jail. That's the hard thing about that word is everyone thinks of Ernest P. What's his list? Ernest P. Earl. But I think when I figured out that that word described me, I was so pleased because I didn't know how to describe my like I'm truthful and like full hearted and you know, like it encompasses like I would I would argue that. Earnestness is the thing that we all share and the thing that makes this show possible. I agree. That if any of us weren't earnest, like if we were sarcastic little assholes or like guarded, that it n this wouldn't work in any way. Do you guys can you guess what Ted wrote? So he's on a dating website and he had to write the three words that described him and it might make you cry. He wrote, I am lovable. Just three. I am lovable. Isn't that perfect? Yeah. No, I don't I don't like it. Because he cheated. You don't like it. He's mocking he's mocking the the he's mocking the game. He's not taking the game serious. But he's loquacious. And that was part of his Google on that. No, no, no. It just means he talks a lot and he used that word in the episode. Otherwise I wouldn't have pulled it out. he needed to learn that for himself in that episode. So it kind of like tied it up in a good I forgot who Ted was for a second. And I had to remember, we're talking about Ted last. Yeah. I was like, I couldn't quite remember how this started. I like, yeah, Teddy. I thought it was like your brother-in-law for a bit. No. Okay. He is loquacious for sure. And that's what's happened. And that's what happened. That's what happened. We ready for me? So ready. Okay. Alice, baby. I got a mixed bag. I do I will end with a a movie idea. We I haven't come with a movie idea in a long time. It's been while. But I do have one. just finished Dune Two book. Holy fuck. What a buzz go. Explain what that means. Okay. the Miz Duke Messiah. How much time do we Dune Messiah? You finished Dune Messiah. I yeah, I'm on children do Doom Children. You already know what's gonna happen in the third movie. You're way ahead of the world right now. And the world is gonna be Shocked and I don't know. It's kind of a buzzkill. Are we gonna be appalled? It's kind of a buzzkill. Appalled. Appalled. Appalled. Appalled. You're gonna wish you could chain the ending. It's not like the first Dune. It's it's good in its own different way. and I I feel like it's gonna be a shock to a lot of people. And It's ruthless. Ruthless. Are you gonna go see Dune three in the theater? You know I am. I gotta watch Dune one first, though. He's be this is post Dune Brent. PDB. PDB. it took what? From April on. but I'm now we are now the big dogs in the neighborhood, me and the boys. we own The lower half of the street, everything runs through through the BPC. and the BPC make the rules. Which Big Pisser Club. That's it. Thanks for Big Pisters Club. Yeah. Big Pissers Club. I'm I'm sad that it took the death of the German Shepherd for that to happen. But the Big Pictures Club moves on and we do run it now. we don't flinch at anybody's dogs. The dogs bark at us. We don't bark back. This is just like gags in New York. It's just smelling like urine all the time. Big pictures. When you smell urine, you know that you're in the territory of the Big Pictures Club. Big Pictures Club. We have our route mapped out and people step to the side when big picture clubs goes up and down the route. it's a great feeling. I'm walking with so much confidence. we go up. We go across Atlantic, we go down through Honeybee Lane, we pass through Snail Alley, we go by Mr. Rat's abandoned Jeep. Did I tell you about Mr. Rat's abandoned jeep? No. No, but this is good shit. Yeah, there's a stuff. That we cr we make this cross where there's an abandoned white jeep parked in the grass and in some bushes, some vegetation, and it was grown in around it. And one day I saw a rat run. across the street underneath the Jeep. So I created a story and a situation, a scenario with the big pictures club that that Jeep belongs to a rat named Mr. Rat. And that's his vehicle. So when we go by read. Yeah, we go read this children's book in a second. Write it. Right it does he drive it or is that where he lives? Let me finish the story. So that's where he lives right now. So when I walk when we walk by the Jeep, I use a dog voices just to talk to Mr. Rat. So Eddie and Clark talk to Mr. Rat and Eddie's like, Hey, Mr. Rat, Mr. Rat. And Clark is Ooh, Mr. Rat. So we do that. Big Pis Club goes home. So one day we're walking past, we leave Snail Alley and we go to Mr. Rat's vehicle and all the vegetation is cut down and it's cleared out. And so now the situation is Mr. Rat's getting it road ready. He's looking at Mr. This is the sequel, Mr. Rat's Big Trip. Mr. Rat's getting safety inspection stickers. He's getting the license plates. He's getting winter tires. He's getting all his fluids checked. Mr. Rat's getting it ready for road ready. I have a really important question. Does is Mr. Rat are his vibes more leather gloves to drive or leather moccasins? Or is he like a leather jacket? Like what is his driving Mr. Rat is more like a junkier guy, just hangs out. He has a dirty white t shirt. He's just doing the bare minimum to get this thing on the road. Yeah. Boots. Yeah, leather boots. He's just getting it ready for the road. And it's all he's getting a row ready. And that's what Mr. Rat's doing. That's the update for Mr. Rat. It's gotten so bad now Melissa's doing it. And half of the Spanish Angels are doing it. Mr. Rat. This is ten times better than the wind and the willows. I'm Completely on board and I can't wait to hear more about Mr. Rat's adventures. You should write a children's book, Brent. Yeah, that would be very and I like that he's a junk air guy because you have some like opportunity there for like some socioeconomic conflict. He he goes to the beach town and it's all the fancy animals. They're looking down at Mr. Rat and his cheese. Well, that's what the big pissers club is. Yep. Yeah. Cork hogs. Did I explain the cork to cork to hogs are Or corked. Yeah, like a you cork a bat to get more performance. These these guys are pissing so much that I call it corked hogs. They I'm like, you guys are really laid out. I'm glad you explained that 'cause I imagined that they were full like a wineskin that had a cork in it that just you pop the cork and it's just no piss everywhere. These guys it's a corked bat situation. Yeah, they're game in the system. Yeah, you're putting I say I call banned from the Hall of Fame. I call it putting up numbers. And when we do certain walks, they put up numbers. Big numbers. Disgusting. It's only pissed. It's only pissed only a little piss for the BPC. BPC putting up big numbers, core cogs. Great shirt. It's only piss, BPC. They they are running it. Can you smell what the BPC is cooking? I got I had a I had a Mazda SUV pull over yesterday and talk to us and cut making comments about the dogs. And I'm like, we absolutely run this fucking town. Now, would you ever tell someone in person about the BPC? I'm telling it on a podcast right now to possibly hundreds like you're watching. Look them face to face. Yeah. In like the Mazda. If you're like, this is the big picture club you've told MASA. Yeah, this is the BPC, the big picture's club, cork cogs, putting up numbers. Are your dogs above you in the BPC or are you above the dogs in the BPC? No, they're way above me. Okay. I'm just I'm just I'm basically the treasurer of the club. Okay. Yeah. Henchman. Yeah, I at best. They just put the numbers up. It's ridiculous how much so like I feel like I'm gonna have to pay for a bionic hip. That's how much they raise their legs. How much they use their legs. Yeah, they raise their legs up to piss so much. I'm like, boys, we're gonna have to put it up by ballerinas. It's like next to their ear. so dainty. So you can really so they can spray it out far. Yeah. they hit all their usual spots. Yeah. BBC is the big is both volume and distance. That's right. Sometimes Clerk will pee on the road and like that's just that's gross behavior, Clark. And it's not his fault 'cause he's trying to hit the mailbox, like the mail thing, but he's he's just hitting the road. And I'm like, that looks disgusting, Clark. Do you ever want to pee with them? That would be a like a like a you know, like we're gonna piss together. No. Yeah. I love no, I enjoy just just watching. I will next time we go, I will tally up the numbers and send them to you guys, and you guys be like, no way. I'd love to get the stats. I'd love to see the box score after the next walk. Yeah, it's like, yeah, like, and like I call it like fairways and regulation, greens and regulation. Like they hit the green the grass. It's like a good one, but they hit the road. I'm like, no, boys, that's you're missing the green. OB. That's OB. I'm still doing the sleep theories. podcast thing where I put the eye mask on and I'm so fucking confused and I wake up. It's fucking the update time. I go to sleep listening to about the three city theory. that theory. And then I wake up and I'm listening to some fucking Russian thing. And I'm like, I don't know where I am, what time it is. It's it's fucking me up but I won't I won't stop. Do you ever forget you have an eye mask on? I wake up blind. You wake up and you think you're blind? I did it last night because I wear an eye mask now and I love it. And I w so it's dark in my room and I pulled my phone up to look at what time it was and my phone wouldn't turn on. But I had just I still had my mask on. Still had yeah, still had the mask on. Yeah. I felt real dumb when I figured that out. That's funny though. That's good. My phone sometimes in the morning is still connected to the mask, and I don't know. And I think my phone's broken because there's no sound. The sound's going to the mask, and I'm like, whatever. the last thing I have is my movie idea. Yes. so it's a guy, and he goes to various stores and he makes a purchase and the cashier rings the purchase in. And hands it to him and gives him his change. But what the cashier doesn't know is they just rang in the item that will kill them. So he uses whatever item he buys at that store to kill the cashier. He's a serial killer and he kills the cashier with whatever he buys. And he goes from town to town and he doesn't stay in there. Did you just buy guns? Nope. Nope. That's the best thing about it. Interesting stuff, Kate. Like, okay, let's play a game. Let's play a game. Name a store, Kate. Name a store that you work at. Target. fuck, that's easy. Yeah, that's a murderer's dream. Yeah, okay. I just find it. Store is. I mean, CVS, Target, the hardware store. It wasn't a criticism. It was it wasn't a criticism. So if I go to Target, if I go to Target, I have a silverware set and you're like, I'm like, yeah, I just moved and I need new silverware. And then you hit my change, I take the butter knife out. It's the next thing you know, it's stuck into your crowded artery. Later that night you you do fork and knife on the top of their skull until you get into their brain. And he does that and he goes from town to town and he buys the item that kills you. And it's always fun to see what store he stops at next. And then he'll go he's so the cops think, Okay, we'll just put a a dummy cop in a store, all the stores that you know, he's undercover agent. Yeah. But he he he flips it. He goes back he's going west for three stores. And then he goes south for two stores. Then he goes north for four stores. Then east. He just sees always screwing them up. Nate, you name a store. Canadian tire. Canadian tire. I would I say I would bring it my car that I stole in. That I stole, I bring it in, and then we put it up on the lift. I would take that off the lift and kill like another drop on you and kill you. I actually think this is a great idea. I'm not, and that's not that's not a joke at all. This would be this This could be a great like seven style detective trying to get to the bottom of the cutlery killer. well, that's not his name. That's not his name. for me to be engaged though, I need to know why. Why are they doing this? Why do why did why did Richard Miraz wait at night and go to windows? Kate Kate's making a point here. He's gotta have some store based reason for his insanity. Like was his mom a cashier who was very abusive or like Was his hurt his mom or dad killed or his sister killed by a cashier? Like No, it's his way Witnessed something while he was playing with one of those kids' cash register toys. No, it's because he he knows that if there's no b if there's no murder weapon, they really can't charge you. They can't tie you to the murder. So he he says that you buy the weapon that kills you. But there but he's buying we He's buying it, but you just rang in the item that kills gonna kill you. That's the clever part of it. Like the movie Smile, they smile. That's the clever part of it. Well, he is you he kind of has like a backwards morality about it because they were the la Okay. I don't know. He might have a backwards morality, he might have a frontwards morality. I know. Kate are punching this up and I think we're making a team here, guys. I think Kate's making points. We gotta get his motivation squared away. We need it. He wants to trick the cops. Ultimately. Yeah, but it's the obviously there's a pathology to this. Do we have Stepfather was a cop. His stepfather was a cop. Okay. Yeah, okay. He was abusive to his mother and to him. And he And he was always saying, like, no matter what you do, if you murder someone, I'll catch you. And he's like, I'll show you stepdad. Yeah, and his his he does like cops, so he tries to trick the cops. So the first thing is he he doesn't have a gun, he just goes and buys the weapon that kills you. I like this and I feel like we shouldn't know that this is his MO until it like halfway through the film, kind of like weapons. Like Yep. Yeah. Yep. I do feel bad for the the clerks that bring in the weapon of kills and That was my other question. Like, do we want who are we rooting for? Are we rooting for the killer or are we rooting for the cops or the victims? That's up to you. Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt in seven. That's what we're rooting for. Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt to to get to the to the figure it out. What if we do it like Jason like Friday thirteenth and like the the the redhead the redheaded young clerk just is in the car store but she has her boyfriend in the back and the guy's trying to like get an item but she's like there's no one at the registers 'cause she's back there fooling around and then she dies because of it. Like, you know. Love it. Okay. We we need to kill lots of women. I mean, it's not a horizontal without why I said redheaded, but she's redheaded. Yeah. There's one guy that's Don't question the Muse. Never question the muse. Exactly. Never question the Muse. let's let's do the weekly report. Week, week, week week, week week, week week, week, weekly report. Real week week week week week week week week week weekly report. Weekly report. Okay. We will start with my D's. I I failed a D this week. no. No. I danced, of course, and I lifted the weights. and I ate my dairy. Mm-hmm. But I did not read any Dante. It's been it's been hard to go back into purgatory. There's it's just the It's not as good. It's like the main course isn't as good as the appetizer or something like that. And it's like, okay, well, meals kinda might have to I will, but I've just been too busy and I just the The idea of it has not been pleasing at all. So I just wanted to get on record that I did fail that one, but I succeeded at an extra D this week because I instore installed the floor in my bedroom. So I got an extra D down this week. Having a floor in your bedroom is always important. Is it the floor that we see behind you now? Is it the same or it looks a little similar to this? It's but it's not as this is actually nice floor. This is like engineered hardwood that I got secondhand, really cheap, but I have laminate in my house. So the floor in my office is nicer than the weathered. I I I described the color as weather chestnut. I accept that definition. Thank you. I need to ask also my Go ahead. I need to ask you where you lift DeWait's. right here. look at that. That's that is the weight of a strong man from the nineteen thirties. Yeah, yeah, it really feels like yeah. Like I should have a Andre the Giant sitting retarded on. How many pounds is that? It's only like thirty-three. You lifted that up like it was ten. Yeah. Bro, I've been very impressive. Bro, I've been lifting. Show us your muscle. Go like this with your shirt. Look at that. Yeah. I can see Definition. You saw some defin you saw some muscles in there. That's the cottage cheese. That's the whey protein. That's that's a guy who's taking a few trips to honey cottage. I said I've I did this week. I did this week. I've said honey cottage so much this week, it's unbelievable. Take a trip to the cottage. well, speaking let's do a kitchen report then because I do I did have a new food and I know this is Brent's favorite segment. Yep. So the only things I had left in my house was eggs and parmesan cheese. So I invented a new food called a parmesan. It's a parmesan. I love it. It's just eggs and parmesan cheese. It's a parmesan omelette. Parmesan. How much parmesan cheese? One cup. It was five eggs and one cup of Parmesan cheese. Shut up Parmesan cheese. Finally. Not only are the ingredients so good, it what really it sets it off, pops it off is the the quantity of the ingredients that you Yeah. Yeah. Five eggs, one cup Parmesan cheese. That's a recipe for me. Such a fucked up ratio. Five to one. It was so good. It was so good. Five to one, baby. But sticking to sticking with the stomach, I've also I've decided to do I'm currently in the middle of a lemonade detox. I'm going I had a realization that I'm I'm I'm eating two tums a day. That's too many tums per day. Two tums a day. Yeah. And it's all lemonade related. Yeah. You're just eating calcium. Yeah, but I'm He doesn't want to have to have to. Yeah. I don't want to reloc be so reliant on the Tums Corporation that I need to be eating two of those a day. Gotcha. lemonade and Tums are in bed together, is what you're implying. They're working against me. So I've gone from four four lemonade squirts in the bottle to two lemonade squirts in the bottle. I've cut my lemonade potency in half and then we'll half it again In a couple of weeks, you know. You have to step down. You could die. If you go too fast, lemonade detox, you could die. So I'm being careful with it. I immediately thought like if your eyes start rolling back in your head right now and you start trying to swallow your tongue, Kate's like, I'll get the lemonade, like that movie. What was the movie? Yeah. Or squirt lemonade into your mouth. And then my final note is fall jackets are out. That's how fast it happens here at Emerson. We go from hot, hot summer to it's let's get the old duffel bag out, pull out the fall jackets. I guess warning last night, and it is twenty two degrees right now. So you never shut down the hose because I don't want that thing freezing. No. So I shut that down. It's it's it's all happening. It's all happening here in Emmitton. That's the weekly report. Yeah. Speaking of shutting it down and chopping it off. we watched Nate's pick this this week. It's the second week in paranormal or what was it? P your month. The word the P word that you associate with Halloween. Mm-hmm. Psychological thrill. Penises. Pumpkins. Nope. Not pumpkins, not penises. Nate nailed it. Psychological thrill is his pick. Nate, tell everybody what we watch. I chose the Tim Burton film Sleepy Hollow, and I would love it if Kate told us what happened to old Ichabod Crane. Ichabadi Crane. Sleepy Hollow takes place in Sleepy Hollow. Ichabad Ichabod. Ichabad. Ichabod Crane is a a police investigator from New York who is sent to Sleepy Hollow. Because they have been having a lot of decapitations. And Ichabad Crane Ichabod Crane Ichabod Crane uses a lot of contemporary science and his own inventions to figure out deaths. and he meets a beautiful daughter person of a family and falls for her. He there are more decapitations from a headless horseman. Ichabat Ichabod Crane sees the headless horseman and then realizes like, this is the headless, this is real. He goes to a crone who tells him that he needs to find the hell tree or whatever it's called. This tree with a portal to hell. He goes there, he uncovers the Hessian. Who was a warrior who was decapitated and does not have his head. And Ichabod Crane realizes that it is a conspiracy and someone is killing specific people for a reason and has control over the headless horseman. so for some reason. They figure out that it is to get the it's Like everything, it's for money. And he finds out that it was long story short, the stepmom sold her soul to Satan, and he saves his lover Girly at the end, and they move back to New York at the end. Yep. Correct. Best movie podcast. It does get better than this, this movie podcast. It's so fucking good. So good. They're trying to kill us. 'Cause we're so good. they're trying to kill us. Let's let's not lose our heads and let's talk about our favorite parts of Sleepy Hollow. Let's do it. The sleepiest of hollows. If I wouldn't be sleeping much because I'd be so scared. Yeah. I I wouldn't be hollow, I'll tell you that. I'd be full of dread and fright. Fear. Fear. Yeah. I could I just I've decided I've confirmed I'm like a falcon. I could I can spot a Nate movie from 18 miles away. And there's a couple things. If you're watching a movie from that Eddie the three of us suggested. And this movie contains A, a homemade contraption, or B, a milky eye. You are one hundred percent in Nate Town. Yeah. This did you see the the what is the thing at the Gears and Cogs? There was so many gears and cocks. I'm surprised Nate is not more steampunk, like just naturally. Yeah. Yeah, like you are you are very borderline steampunk and I think it would wouldn't take much to push you over that line. No, I have to suppress it. I have to suppress it. I'm glad you do. Yeah, me too. Because it would get out of control. It would actually decrease your athleticism if you moved more into steampunk. Because you can't be athletic and steampunk at the same time. I just too much with too much gear on. Too much gear. You can't wear those hats and the goggles while you're trying to field. No. Imagine Nate wears the Changing the changing the s the the focal length before each pitch. Big leather hat, but he has Like the Edward Scissor hands is my glove. Steampunk baseball player is a very good creation. It's because the bat, you click a button and it unfurls. It's like a telescope. Telescope. Classic. Yeah, this movie is like my. I'm not a scary movie guy, but if I had to choose a c a type of scary movie, it'd be like this would be my ideal type of scary movie. And I was not that scared. I was watching it and I was like, this is more graphic than any movie I ever suggested. For sure. We're losing heads every fucking half hour's a head popped off. So many decapitations. So many heads. Just and let's be honest, some really great head prosthetic work in this movie. Everyone's head who got chopped off, it looked like them. It really looked like And they were rolling. Yeah. A lot of thumping. Great Foley work. If I was making this movie and instead of doing prosthetic heads, I would just put the real person's head and like put like a fake dirt around their neck and just have them look at them. Because there were so many heads. Yeah. Was the guy Gambon, what's his name? Was he in this or Yeah. Yep. Okay. So Dumbledore. I yes. So he was in this and I read that he asked to keep his head afterward and he would send it to people. Like very funny. Very good. Like that's what you do. You know keep your head. It's just good fun. It's just good fun. Keep your I didn't like once the head was chopped off, I didn't like the neck. It was I didn't like the flap the head. That a little flap. I didn't like that. No matter what that looks like, I'm always gonna think it looks fake. I could see a real dead person with decapitated, I'd be like, That neck looks fake. You don't wanna see the middle of is this we're not ready to see the middle of a spine. We are all okay with the outside of the spine, but the minute you see the middle of the spine is a big brain just rejects it. You're right. No, you can't handle that. I knew I was gonna light it like it right away with all this the scenic shots where he's traveling from New York into Sleepy Hollow, and Sleepy Hollow's so small, it's just like a like a a twelve hose village. And if you listen, if you can't catch a killer in a twelve hose village, there's that's on you. Like what kind of constable are you? Max three nights. Well they knew what it was. They all knew that it was the headless horseman. But they didn't know who was summoning him. Well, they didn't even know someone was summoning him. I w I was I was very mad at the start of the movie where I saw they started dripping this red goo and I'm like, it this is the blood that we're gonna see in this movie. It's so red. This is gonna be the reddest blood I've ever seen. But it wasn't the blood, it was the wax seal that they were melting at first. Like that's not blood color, that's not blood consistency, but the blood that was especially in the tree scene where he's chopping the tree, that's it's like the reddest Walmart blood ever. But I liked it because it's like such a gray film and like Johnny Depp's in black and white the whole time and his face is so white and then he gets his red blood squirted on him like twenty times. It's like really you can really see the red. And I did notice he has a very like expressive face. Like yeah. He's doing a lot of face work. Yeah. He's yeah, his face is is making a lot of lines that he's not saying if you know what I'm saying. yeah, I do too. Did you guys I noticed something? Go ahead. No, you go ahead. I was gonna say I noticed something, So I don't really like when movies worry too much about like trying to make it super realistic, like to this like autistic degree. Like that's how I would say Denny Villeneuve and Chris Nolan are, which to their credit, like they make fantastic movies, but everything has to be like it has to be real and there can't be any inconsistency. I think the thing I like about Tim Burton is that it's so much more about the mood, and the example that I would give for that is. They're at the cemetery for a for a funeral at the beginning of the movie, and they go to the grave of the first lady who had been murdered, which was like two months ago before this scene takes place. But the headstone looks like it's a hundred and fifty years old. It's like crumbling and like dirty and black. So it's like that's not what it would look like, but the vibe of the graveyard is supposed to be spooky old, crumbly ancient. It's better. It's better that it's old and craggly and dirty after like that's just something I noticed. And I was like, that's what that's my taste. This I I will speak to that and add when he first goes to Sleepy Hollow and he goes to the home and they're having the party, and they have all of these carved pumpkins with candles in it. And I'm like, that is not what was happening in 1799. Hell yeah. And then I found out that. Carved pumpkins did not come to America until the Irish did. And so it wasn't until the 1845s and later that we were doing carved pumpkins. And the Irish punch above their weight for cultural contraband. Yes, we do. Yes, we damn well we do. We were heavily looked all potatoes. Everything from James Joyce to Jack O'Lantern. look at that. This is the best podcast. It is the best podcast. Do you know they used to cut turnips? As pumpkins. They had jack-o turnips? Yeah, they were then they're much scarier looking. You know what I'm gonna do this year? I'm going to instead of carve all the way through, I'm gonna like scratch. Like I'm gonna do like yeah scratch art. Yes. On a pumpkin. I like I like it when people do that. We'll see. I've never done it before. Christina Ricci. Okay, so I just realized that Mia Goth just stole her look from this from Christina Ricci in this movie. She literally named herself Mia Goth. Yeah, but her name is Mia Goth. A lot of Mexican Dominican stuff after that. it is. Yeah, she has a very long name and Goth isn't is involved in you you Google it and you'll see. yeah, it I thought I was watching Mia Goth. like Ricci walked so Goth could run. That's another good t shirt, but I'm not I d I think Richie was too young to be in this movie. She's only nineteen in real life. Yeah, I agree. and I think she wasn't didn't have the chops yet. And I think Depp blew her out of the water to a point and it made it very hard to believe that they were romantic together. That's how good Depp was. His name They didn't give her much to do. No. Like it's not her fault. They really didn't give her a bunch of I'm gonna say something that Kate's gonna hate. But it's it's true. Sh her her bosom wasn't foreboding enough to play the role that she did. It wasn't a foreboding enough. Sure. Like it wasn't like she was too d she was much like the wrist strap in weapons on Julia Garner's wrist or whatever her name was, she was made to be too small. And I feel like Christina Ricci was too small to be in this movie a across from Johnny Depp and I want to make my joke now that his name should be Johnny Depp. Could we say that Johnny Depp was too old? No. No. Because you you figure you have to go to to police school and you have to get your chops. You have to get your chops as a police guy. You spend at least a year in the lab working on those goggles. Those goggles take at least, like yeah, at least a year. that's not the first prototype. No, no. Those things. How he poured something on blood and it smoked and bubbled. What's that? a chemical reaction. And and the the chemical reaction proved that the head had been chopped off in a single stroke. I'm like, it didn't prove that. There's no there's no duster chemicals that can prove that. It's the little ex the little extendo shelf, though, with all his chemicals. it's so good. So good. That maybe is like My favorite prop in the movie opens his bag and has the extendable shelf. That was great. Mia Gypsy Melo da Silva Goth. Her mother's Brazilian. Her father from Nova Scotia. did you know that, bro? I'm gonna be insufferable. No, I did not know that. You tell me. You might meet her. I'm related to Mr. Dad. I'm related to Migo. I can claim her though. Could be your cousin. Distant cousin? I mean, is everybody in Nova Scotia related? Well, it's it's I could get away with it. Yeah. At a bar. Sure. You you can't sleep with a relative. I'm gonna refer to you as Brent. that's Mia Goth's cousin. I don't want to sleep with Miyagoth. I just wanna say that yeah, I mean I got concluded. I want to take a nap with her. Get your back scratched. I'm gonna claim that. Thank you. That's gonna give me a lot of material to work with, Kate. Thank you. You're welcome. do we have a quiz? Yeah. someone timed us one I got a message that someone timed us at one of our episodes. It was like an hour and twenty eight minute episode and we talked about the movie for twelve minutes. Yeah, it's it's usually about like that's the average. If we if we do eighteen minutes, we really like have a lot to say about the movie. That's that's it's good. I I just have one last note to talk about. This whole movie could have been over in a half hour if they just had a jig big like I said, one other movie, a big giant net. Throw a big giant net on this guy, and you got him. He did seem supernaturally strong though, right? And you couldn't kill him. You don't know how like a big heavy net is hard to get out of. No, no, I for sure. I think the horseman could and here's the reason why. Brent says no. The whole movie I agree with you until the church scene. When he figures out to like use the fence post and tie it to a rope and throw the fence post through the window and and harpoon Dumbledore and pull his ass out of the church. He's he's a man who figures it out. He would figure it out in the net. Net once you're under a net, it's very disorientating for at least three seconds. Three seconds. Yeah. And then all your plan goes straight out of your head the minute you get in the net. Then you have to cut one hole in the net. But that's you're up to ten seconds at this point. I believe that because anytime I try to climb up those nets that are on playgrounds, I get overstimulated. Exactly. I'm like, what are my feet doing? Exactly. It's a lot. Ten seconds is a long time to be beaten with sticks. And that's what you do. You get him in the net, beat him with sticks for 10 seconds. Problem problem solved. Yep. But he doesn't have a head. Doesn't matter. That's less you have to worry about to hit. he gets his skull, he sets it on his head, and the most painful scene is when his flesh goes back onto his skull and he's like it's gotta feel good. It's gotta feel good for No, that's what I was thinking, but it looks like it hurt. Yeah, he was screaming in pain. Yeah, because he has to go back to hell. I would be mad too. So you're like happy you have your head back. No, he doesn't care. Either way, he doesn't care. I feel like he deeply cares. No. He's just a vessel. They didn't let him talk. I think that's like such a no interesting movie. Christopher Walking, so famous for his voice and talking, and they're like he's gonna do a silent performance. His name is Christopher Walken, it's now Christopher Talkin. I heard I saw him and she I could see Kate's reaction in real time that she knew the punchline. And it was that's my favorite part of the episode, so part of her face. It's a good joke though, damn it. Yeah. Would you two like to do the Ichabod Crane quiz for the criminally insane? Ooh. Ooh. Yes. Yes. Question number one we will start, Keith will answer first this week. The main gate at the entrance to Sleepy Hollow has two animal busts. What animals are they? Stags, bulls, wolves, or lions? Wolves. I I'm going stags. Brent, you're correct. There's two beautiful stags sculptures on either side of the bridge. Gone forever! I don't miss a sculpture. Well We're about to find out if that's true, Brent, because when Ichabod arrives at the Van Tassel residence, there are two door knockers in the shape of animals. What animal are they? Stags, bulls, wolves, or lions? they are wolves. I'm going with wolves again. they are bulls. And the door knocker was the bull nose ring. It was knocked the bull nose ring. I was I was too focused on the couple making out to the side. That's exactly what was happening at that moment. Christina Ricci gives the constable a book. What word is not included in the title? So the title of the book is a compendium of which one of these words is not there? Spells, charms, incantations, devices. Devices. Incantations. Brent is correct. The title is a compendium of spells, charms, and devices of the spirit world. Gone forever! I'm getting smoked. No, it's only he's only got two. You're still in this. What kind of bird is on Johnny Depp's little flippy card thing? He shows her the magic trick with his little card. What is the bird? Is it a cardinal, a robin, a finch, or a nightingale? Bastard. cardinal. Brent thinks that I'm always acting because his acting is so poor. It was a cardinal. Yeah. I was between A and B. What was B again? B's a red bird too, right? Robin. Yeah. See? Robins are not red. Red Robin is a very common saying. That is a restaurant. I ate there. So that's not an actual animal. You both get a point. Golden archers are gold. Lady Van Tassel says she'll gather some flowers to bind her hand wound. What kind of flowers does she mention? Wild yarrow, wild chamomile, wild lavender, or wild arrowroot? Lavender. let's do it. It's not A, it's not D. It's between chamomile, which you wouldn't do because that's the sleepy time thing. It's gotta be lavender. It's wild arrowroot. It's wild arrow root. Yeah. There's no such thing as a red robin. It's actually orange. But people say red Robin I usually refers to American Robin, the turtous. That's it's turtous migatorious. But it's actually orange. Turtous watching the big pisser club from a branch. That's why I didn't think there was such a thing as a red bird. The name is Robin Redbreast. But it's not actually red, it's orange. Yeah, but because orange wasn't invented yet. That's bullshit. Okay. That is not a thing. That's what I just read. Orange wasn't invented or used yet. The name Robin Redbreast comes from the fifteenth century before the red orange was commonly used to describe the color. Orange wasn't invented yet. I don't believe that. Well What is the name of the servant girl that Lady Van Tassel kills with an axe? Sophia, Sarah, Scarlet, or Samantha? I know. Sophia. Sarah. Catherine's correct. One correct. You actually have correct so far. Yeah. Bread's got three. Okay. This is the last question. You guys know I'm partial to a milky eye and there's some great milky eye work in this movie. Which village elder got that milky eye? Lancaster, Steenwick, Philips, or Hardenbrook? Hardenbrook. Lancaster. Catherine has tied the quiz with an excellent guest. Why didn't I just say the same thing as you? So stupid of me. Tim Burton film starring Johnny Depp, Edward Scissor Hands, 1990. About a decade before this movie. At a $20 million budget. How much did it make worldwide? 78 million. 95. one million. Kate, you were nine million off. Brent was eight million off. It was eighty s eighty-six million dollars. Eighty-six million dollars. Wow, that was very close. I wanted to on a very close fought battle. Damn. That was a that was great. I'll take compliments. We were decapitating each other. Yeah. you lost your head in the end. You want compliments? Well, I actually I I was I was so prepared for our episode this week that I prepared a compliment for you both in the event of either of you winning. So, Brent, I will give you your compliment right now and I think it's a good one. Okay. If I had to host an event and I had to have one friend take care of the catering, I would trust you and you alone. I would put you number one on my list. I know my man who's gonna take care and get everybody fed properly, on time, and full bellies. Yeah. It's gotta be my man, Brent Murray. That's my compliment for you. I would trust you to cater any event. Thank you. And I would I would make sure that everybody could participate in what I served. I know you would. That's I I didn't even have to question it. That's why I'm like, my brother went to cooking school and I would not trust him with this shit. Not even close. Not even close. The Everybody loves broccolini. You cannot go wrong with broccolini. I love broccolini. Exactly. If you see someone sees long skinny broccoli on their plate, they're like, hey, I'm at a I'm at a fucking function. Yeah. Yeah. Broccolini at the function. I Brent deals with so much shit in his day to day life. The fact that you even exist in the world, Brent is There's no one I know that's more resilient than you, period. not that sixteen percent. Not gonna be. Wouldn't be him. Not me. Couldn't be. You are a model of Perseverance. Perseverance. Thank you. Thank you. Model of perseverance. just so everyone knows my foot feels like it's in a vice and it's got pins and needles. Constantly. Constantly. Constantly. Nope. well I give you both a gold medal for your performance on the episode so far. We've just been we're the best show in the world. would you guys like to give some medals for the actors in this film? Yes. Bronze medals. I'm gonna say it right out. I'll go first. I'm gonna say it right now. I and I'm shocked by this more than anyone. Christina Ricci is not getting a medal from me. Which is un which is this is like the biggest, this is like Buster Douglas knocking out Mike Tyson. Shocked. Yep. Tokyo, Japan is shocked right now. You were talking about how much of a Ricci guy you were. Prime Ricci, I also, you know what, I want to make an an addendum. I said prime Ricci because the last time I saw this movie I was thirteen years old. So she was like the height of womanhood to me. And now as a 40 year old man, I'm Lady Van Tassel all the way the whole time. I'm like a million percent. Those are receipts of a mature guy. Yeah, this is this is not prime richie. We take all the prime richie comments back from the website. You guys are Jeffrey Jenzing it. You will also not be getting a medal. my bronze medal is going to Richard Griffiths, who played Magistrate Sam Phillips. he's dead. He died in 2013, apparently. But I just I enjoy big guy. I enjoy a big guy. He's great in this movie. He's great. And he was also great in as the villain in Naked Gun. and in Harry Potter. Yeah. He plays Harry's mean uncle. He's got a good. why here's a question. Why if it's in New York, why does everyone got a fucking British accent? Is that a stupid thing? Because w well they all came from England, you know? It's like still early. There's they're still like the they haven't just def they haven't defined the American accent yet. So I think it actually makes sense to have all these great British character actors because there's a bunch. He's also getting my bronze. He's obvious. Yeah. Yeah. He's he's I just want to make the a peaky blinders joke. He's OBE like Thomas Shelby was. Thomas Shelby was an OBE, which is Order of the British Empire. OBE. He's in this British TV show where he like runs this restaurant and the show is just about like him cooking at the restaurant. And I loved I love that was like such a comforting show for me to watch because it's like the problems with the restaurant. He's gotta go out to the farm to get the produce, but the there's no potatoes today. And it's like it was like that kind of show. It was great. I'm gonna give mine to Christopher Walken, actually. I'm gonna give mine to Christopher Walken for a fantastic performance with no speaking. It's not, it's not the easiest thing to do, but he makes such an impression and he's so scary with his pointy little teeth and his black hair and he's great. Christopher Walken gets my bronze. Who's getting your silver? my silver is going to let me bring up his name here. I got I got I got two in the weeds about Richard Griffiths here ways that I do I hit the back button a lot. Mark Pickering who played young Masbeth. he mine too Yeah he ha he grew into his teeth which is great. he had some as a He as a young man is he is like if me and my childhood best friend had a baby together, that's what we would look like. Yeah. And that's what I thought about. he's very much reminded me of me. And you know, he he did more of a a better acting job of hanging with Johnny Depp than Kristen Aricia did. which is shocking. Silver medal. He did not seem over his head at all. No. At all. So you know what? I'm going with you. I'm gonna make it a turkey sandwich with you guys. You guys convinced me that considering he's with all these great fantastic actors, he's he holds his own the whole time. He was in Boardwalk Empire. I don't know what you are talking about in regards to his teeth. Why I feel like you have a toothpaste, we're not gonna make no I just I call it like I see it. He had big teeth in the movie. I didn't notice I didn't notice the size of his his teeth. You didn't? No. maybe I do have a tooth thing. he has an overbite in this movie and he you can see it when he closes his mouth. His lips are pursed. But that's fine. I I have maybe I have a tooth thing. You guys are right. Gold medal, Johnny Depp. His name should be Johnny Depp, 'cause he has layers and he's deep. or Johnny Deep. You could be called Johnny Deep as well. It p works both ways. I like I said, I when it comes to acting, I'm a Johnny Depp guy. I don't know much about his personal life. I know he wears a lot of accessories, which I feel like you take a long time to get ready, which kind of could be annoying. Can hear him coming. He clangs. Jingling and jangling when Johnny Depp's near you, him jingling and jangling. Yeah, he's like a dog. Scarf swishing. Constantly getting hooked on things. Yeah. You know he has long nails too. He's like click clanking. Tie all those knots and untie them at the end of the night. You need nails. I'm giving my gold medal to Miranda Richardson, Lady Van Tassel, who was the bad guy. I just she stole every scene she was in. She did great. I loved it. I'm with you, Kate. I was like, I was bewitched. Yeah. There's that line in the movie where he's like, I think you might be a witch because you have bewitched me. It's very funny. But she was so gorgeous. She looked so good in the period attire. Her hair was incredible. she did a lot of like great witch work where she was like, and you too, I see you too. She she'd like get shrill just for like one second. And then she also plays the the dual role. because she plays the witch in the cave as well, and she's doing a funny little creepy witch voice. I didn't know that. She's the crow. We had Crow like last episode we had modern witch work and this was classic witch work. This was classic witch work. yeah. Like cut a bat's head off? That's classic witch. But also cutting off hair. That's consistent through the ages with witches. They're always trying cut your hair. Shackling yourself to the wall because you know you're about to fucking freak out. That's good. That's that's that's like safe sex. Listen to this. Richardson's hobbies include dog walking, gardening, and falconry. well then. Imagine her with a falcon on her arm. Yes, ma'am. I thought she was the lady that's bocked her head skiing. that's the other Richardson that she's not related to. Yeah. Liam Neeson's ex departed wife. Yes. That's who you mean. Maria Natasha Richardson. Natasha Richardson. She died two thousand nine, Lennox Hill Hospital. R. I. P. R. P. Yep. I give us All a ten out of ten for our medals and our performance so far in the show as well. Best podcast in the world. would you guys like to give this movie a rating? I would. the script for this film, based on a short story, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, I never read the short story. I did watch the animated version of it where Bing Crosby sings like Boo, Headless Horseman, boo-ba-da-boo. Which is good. what do you guys think of the script for the film, Sleepy Hollow? I can't give it a 10. I don't know why. I don't know. I Eight point five. I'm going I'm going round number eight like a snowman. it's for such a a good set like scenery and actors and the color, everything was so well done, and I feel like the story was weak. Weak story. I feel like you have a great villain and all it's a stepmother. Yeah, I think the story is the weakest part of the film. I'd agree with that. I will say that it's a tight little baby. Like it it we get in and out. We're not th if they made sleep hell now it'd be two hours and twenty minutes and they'd really be fucking dragging this shit up. This is like many more heads popping off. Yeah, this is a one forty five, I think at with the credits, like this thing is good. You're you're in and out, so I'm gonna give it an eight. I'll give it an eight. the art direction for this film, the sets, props, the costume. I mean, you know what I you know me, you saw those cogs, you saw those milky eyes, it's it was the d it was a done deal. Tim Burton, this is his strength, is the art direction. You know this is a Tim Burton movie. It gets a 10 from meme. It looks amazing. the the minute I saw the the glasses with the multiple lenses that you could swap in and out, the extendo shelf inside a briefcase, chemicals, It's a ten. The scene in the cave with the witch is so good. the music for this film, it's a Danny Elfman, as usual for Tim Burton. I thought it was great. I don't think it's as good as his most iconic stuff, but it was like fantastic for this movie. So I'll give it a nine. I think it's like there's I've heard better Elfman, but it was fantasti it was still good. I wanted it to be scarier. I'm giving it a nine. I think He should change his name from Danny Elfman to Danny Giant Man, because he always brings the noise. unfortunately, this he he was handicapped by the movie itself because it was a scary, kind of whimsical, funny one. So you can't really go full gore scary music. You have to try to lighten it up a bit, and that is a detriment to the Elfman. So it's I'm gonna give it an eight. Elfman. The Elfman. Danny This is a gothic horror film. It's gotta be gothic horror. It's not scary enough to be like a proper horror movie. Like it's yeah the fact that I like it is a number one sign that it's not a horror movie. Like I have if it's a horror movie, I have to hate it a little bit and be mad that I'm watching it a little bit. I'm not mad at all. So gothic, great, but horror, I'm gonna go, I'm gonna be mean seven point five. Yeah, this is gothic as hell. Like The only thing that could have made this more gothic is there was there the church could have been a cathedral. Like we needed more like architecture, gothic architecture. Yeah. It ha it's like children's horror. So I'm gonna give it an eight. This is a not Gothic movie. I didn't see anything gothic at all. There was no big abandoned churches, no Draculas. it's not got Gothic to me. Brent's knocking off five because there's no vampires. Very easy to add a vampire to this movie. You don't have to have a story of it for him to say, yeah, it's still a vampire. Ake, her face at the end. Sorry to interrupt. That's crazy. Yeah, what is that? Needed flesh. Need the flesh. this is if you take the blood out, you could air this movie on Sunday nights on C B C. This is a children's horror movie. That's a joke for Dick. That's it. this is a children's horror movie. and it's a seven. This is a great movie if you have kids to watch with your kids on around Halloween, though. Like Halloween. Perfect for like family movie night with the kiddos. Cause they'll be grossed out and the mood is dark, and so kids might be scared, but it's not like too scary. And if there's no sexual thing, there's no sex stuff at all. Yeah. Christina Rishi's covered up the whole time. It's not foreboding bosoms. It's fine. It there is Satan worship though. So if you're a big Christian, well the mom the mom the mom had a lot of cleavage hanging out. And they do simulate sex, but yeah, yeah. Okay, still some backscratch. And then she cuts herself and like rubs the blood on his back. Which is something. That's supposed We went from are we still showing to the kids? Yeah. They're gonna edit, they're gonna cut some stuff on C B C'll probably still show the hand cutting scene. As my daughter says, anytime I'm like it's very adult, she goes, Mom, do you know what the boys say in sixth grade? And I'm like, That's right. Like, No, please don't. then this the month this it's pumpkin month. no wait, it's a different P word. It's psychological horror month. Psychological. Psychological horror. It's the word it's the P word that you associate Halloween with. The P word that you associate with Halloween. Pumpkins is the joke, but it's actually psychological horror. Yeah. I just wanna make a point before we score it to say that all of psychology takes place in the brain. Which is located in the head in the head. Yeah. So I just want to throw that out there before. I'm not gonna save you, I'll sure. I'm sorry. And this is headless. So one could say it's without psychology. This was a direct in the face mockery of the category. it was it was showing me up. It was a bad flip. and I knew right away that you were trying to bat flip me, and that's fine. I don't respect it as a psychological horror. It's a it's one step away from Ernest Halloween movie. I would have picked I would have picked Ernest Scared Stupid. I know. He gets a six. Okay. That's but better than I thought. I will follow Brent and give it a six. Well, you know what? It's one of the spooky months in the world, so why not six six six? I'll give it a six two. This movie gets a forty point three. Forty point three, I think that's exactly right. Yep. Yeah, we nailed it. I think we nailed that as best as you possibly do on that. Yeah. I think so too. Great, great week, great show. Kate, tell us what we're gonna watch next week. I wanted to find a psychological thriller that I had never seen. Can I just interject? Remember the movie you picked that we could never find? We could no it was so fucked up we couldn't watch like martyrs or something like that? Yeah, something like that. Okay, that's a mess. You guys should watch that. That is messed up. Well we tried. Nate would hate it. I read the Wikipedia. I ain't watching that shit, bro. They fillet their skin. Anyway, okay. I'm good. we're gonna watch a movie I've never seen. I used to see all the time in Blockbuster in the horror section starring Tim Robbins. Wait, right? Tim Robbins as a Vietnam War veteran. It's the 1990 psychological horror film Jacob's Ladder. My friend Marissa in the 11th grade told me this was the most fucked up movie she's ever seen. And she was pretty she's pretty fucked up. person. So I'm excited to see what that meant. Kate, I will I will follow your lead. I used to see this movie at our local video store called Video Visions and I remember the cover for this movie and I never watched it because I was eight. It's it's a first time for all three of us. Yeah. That's fine. We're gonna deflower this movie. Okay. I'm excited to check this out. It's supposed to be weird as fuck. And that's what we'll watch next week. So that means all this left to do is say goodnight, Kate. Good night, Kate. Good night, Catherine. In just a few minutes, you will see a preview of the most terrifying and unforgettable movie of the year. Jacob's letter. Stay tuned to this channel. Kate, did you like the Giant Manjo?
