- 0:00Speaker 1: Time for Tech Talk on Light FM. It's Cubby, Christine,
- 0:02Speaker 1: producer Kristen. We're talking about our phones off the air
- 0:06Speaker 1: and iOS 27.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Doing the updates. Is it slowing your phone down? Because
- 0:11Speaker 2: it is for us, but that's supposedly short-lived, according to Apple.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm trying to pay attention to that. You told
- 0:17Speaker 1: me that, and I think I did notice the battery
- 0:19Speaker 1: might be trickling down quicker. But you said, like you
- 0:23Speaker 1: just said.
- 0:23Speaker 2: After a few days, it should balance out. Otherwise, it's
- 0:26Speaker 2: Apple saying, time for you to get a new phone. Right.
- 0:29Speaker 1: But we have a couple of things that are really
- 0:31Speaker 1: cool about iOS 27, and you have the first one,
- 0:34Speaker 1: and then I have one too. Okay.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Well, I think this one could save the day because
- 0:38Speaker 2: there is an anniversary reminder on call for you.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Save a lot of guys' days.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Yes, it would. So you go into your contacts app,
- 0:47Speaker 2: you enter anniversary or any important dates, and then when
- 0:50Speaker 2: you go on a certain day to contact that person,
- 0:53Speaker 2: it says, reminder, you and Coco are celebrating your anniversary today,
- 0:58Speaker 2: like that kind of thing.
- 0:59Speaker 1: I mean, I hope to never forget. Right. But the
- 1:01Speaker 1: longer you're married, time goes by faster. It creeps up
- 1:05Speaker 1: on you quicker. Yes.
- 1:06Speaker 2: I mean, I'm sure you could do that with birthdays
- 1:08Speaker 2: and everything. Yeah.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Yeah. So if you have the new iOS 27, there's
- 1:13Speaker 1: a feature that's off by default right now, but they're
- 1:16Speaker 1: saying you should probably turn it on. It's really cool.
- 1:18Speaker 1: It can help detect when you might be getting pulled
- 1:21Speaker 1: into a impersonation scam. Oh. So it's not guaranteed.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:26Speaker 1: But again, it's off by default if you're running iOS 27.
- 1:29Speaker 1: You want to go to settings, privacy and security, and
- 1:33Speaker 1: then you'll notice impersonation risk detection. Wow. And it says
- 1:38Speaker 1: it's not going to magically stop every scam. But if
- 1:42Speaker 1: your phone can give a supported app another signal that
- 1:45Speaker 1: something looks suspicious before you make a payment or maybe
- 1:49Speaker 1: change important account information, it'll like warn you. And unfortunately,
- 1:54Speaker 1: I have a lot of senior friends that and my dad, too.
- 1:57Speaker 1: They've come darn close to getting scammed because the impersonation
- 2:01Speaker 1: phishing things or whatever.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Oh, they're getting really good.
- 2:03Speaker 1: They're getting better and better.
- 2:04Speaker 2: I know.
- 2:04Speaker 1: So again, if you have iOS 27, you go to Settings,
- 2:08Speaker 1: Privacy and Security, and then click Impersonation Risk Detection. That's
- 2:13Speaker 1: going to be off. But if you want to use it,
- 2:15Speaker 1: you want to turn that on. And again, it might
- 2:18Speaker 1: help with impersonation scams. Okay. Yeah.
- 2:21Speaker 2: That's really good. I think this one sounds excellent, too.
- 2:24Speaker 2: There's a new feature that's called Call Context. So this
- 2:29Speaker 2: tool pulls up relevant information like flight details from email.
- 2:34Speaker 2: So while you're on a call, like say you're calling
- 2:36Speaker 2: an airline or trying to reach out, it knows what
- 2:39Speaker 2: your confirmation number is and it'll just pop up for you.
- 2:41Speaker 2: You won't have to go search.
- 2:43Speaker 1: I love that.
- 2:43Speaker 2: That's really good.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Remember a few years ago when you needed a code? Mm-hmm.
- 2:48Speaker 1: And you had to input that code on the app
- 2:49Speaker 1: and they would text you.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Yes.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Now that shows up automatically. Yes. So I love that.
- 2:55Speaker 1: It knows. Yeah. Like I'm talking to United right now.
- 2:58Speaker 1: I need the number.
- 2:58Speaker 2: I need that number now.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Yeah. All right. Pretty cool. And you'll need your phone
- 3:03Speaker 1: to call us at 725. Journey tickets. Journey's coming to
- 3:07Speaker 1: town at Prudential Center in October. We have your hookup
- 3:09Speaker 1: coming up.
