Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: You just heard the news. Now you'll find out what
- 0:03Speaker 1: it all means. It's Mark Simone on 710WOR.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Hey, welcome to the show. It's Monday. What a weekend.
- 0:24Speaker 2: What a weekend. We've got a lot to get to.
- 0:27Speaker 2: We'll get to AI. What is it exactly? that we
- 0:31Speaker 2: got to be afraid of with AI. I mean, some
- 0:33Speaker 2: of it's great. What's the part we got to be
- 0:35Speaker 2: afraid of? We'll get to that. We'll get to President Trump.
- 0:39Speaker 2: We'll get to Iran. We'll get to Mamdani. We'll get
- 0:42Speaker 2: to SNL. We'll get to AOC. We'll get to baseball,
- 0:47Speaker 2: end of the season. All right. This was some weekend.
- 0:50Speaker 2: This was the first weekend of fall. And this is
- 0:54Speaker 2: what you heard all weekend. What a weekend. Just stay inside.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Every so often you say, well, probably it's a few hours.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Let me go outside. Well, I'll go to sleep. Wake
- 1:16Speaker 2: up in the morning. Let me go outside. This is
- 1:23Speaker 2: all you heard all weekend. This is Friday night. This
- 1:28Speaker 2: is all day Saturday. Saturday night. Sunday night. sunday night
- 1:33Speaker 2: you said let me check out that's all i heard
- 1:38Speaker 2: all i heard now uh the good news is you
- 1:41Speaker 2: had some terrible flooding but that's mostly from rivers overflowing
- 1:44Speaker 2: and stuff we didn't have the street flooding as extensively
- 1:49Speaker 2: as we usually do queen's got a lot of it
- 1:51Speaker 2: doesn't there was some street flooding but usually every parkway
- 1:55Speaker 2: everything but we didn't get that so much this time
- 1:57Speaker 2: because the rain the good news is having it of
- 2:00Speaker 2: having it come over two or three days It came
- 2:02Speaker 2: down slowly. It was like a tenth of an inch
- 2:05Speaker 2: an hour at the most. So it didn't overwhelm the
- 2:08Speaker 2: drains everywhere. Now, I don't want to hear another word
- 2:12Speaker 2: about the reservoirs aren't full anymore. This should have filled
- 2:15Speaker 2: them up. I checked before the storm. They were at
- 2:18Speaker 2: about 76% capacity. So this should be all we need.
- 2:22Speaker 2: But a lot of people without power, got to give
- 2:27Speaker 2: those electric companies credit. They were pretty quick at getting
- 2:30Speaker 2: a lot of people back up, but it's going to
- 2:33Speaker 2: rain today, and then it's supposed to be nice and
- 2:36Speaker 2: dry tomorrow, and then actually mild on Wednesday. It's supposed
- 2:40Speaker 2: to go back to about 75, so Wednesday will be
- 2:43Speaker 2: a nice day. Oh, I forgot to mention, we'll get
- 2:45Speaker 2: to my new iPhone. Got it yesterday. Started using it
- 2:50Speaker 2: last night, and today I'll say one thing for it.
- 2:54Speaker 2: The one thing about this phone, it's supposed to have
- 2:57Speaker 2: the 18 Pro Max. It's supposed to have incredible battery life.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Now I've been, uh, using it all morning for about two,
- 3:06Speaker 2: two hours. I've been watching a lot of video on
- 3:08Speaker 2: it and YouTube and, uh, battery percentage still a hundred
- 3:13Speaker 2: has even dropped to 99. So supposedly the battery can
- 3:17Speaker 2: go about two days in, in this thing. So, uh, president, uh,
- 3:22Speaker 2: busy weekend. He was all over the place doing a
- 3:24Speaker 2: few campaign stops and midterms. Now, all you hear on
- 3:29Speaker 2: the news is that the Republicans, the approval ratings, everything
- 3:32Speaker 2: is so low, it's so low. Nobody has lower approval
- 3:35Speaker 2: ratings than the Republican. Trump is the lowest approval ratings.
- 3:39Speaker 2: He said, yeah, it's true. The part they forget to
- 3:43Speaker 2: mention is the Democrats, it's far worse. Their approval ratings
- 3:47Speaker 2: are really, they're much lower than the Republicans, much lower
- 3:51Speaker 2: than Trump. I don't know why, but CNN has the
- 3:53Speaker 2: most honest pollster Harry Anton, listen to the CNN pollster
- 3:57Speaker 2: on Democrats and their leaders.
- 3:59Speaker 3: Democrats, on their own leaders, they don't like their own leaders.
- 4:03Speaker 3: I dare say they despise their own leaders. And this
- 4:05Speaker 3: is the big difference from what we saw back in 2018,
- 4:08Speaker 3: just before Democrats were trying to take back the U.S.
- 4:10Speaker 3: House of Representatives that fall. Take a look here. Net
- 4:13Speaker 3: approval of congressional Dem leaders among Democrats. Back in 2018,
- 4:16Speaker 3: look at this. Their net approval rating was plus 19 points. Hey,
- 4:20Speaker 3: that's pretty good. Two thumbs up, says Colin Ebert. Now
- 4:22Speaker 3: we're talking about... Two thumbs down.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Look at this.
- 4:26Speaker 3: Minus 12 points. What a different world that we are
- 4:29Speaker 3: in right now. Democrats do not like, they despise their
- 4:33Speaker 3: own leadership.
- 4:35Speaker 2: That's not a good sign. Uh, now first the midterms, uh, Republicans,
- 4:40Speaker 2: the messaging, it stinks. It's non-existent pretty much. They got
- 4:45Speaker 2: a lot to get out there. You know, the, uh,
- 4:48Speaker 2: The news media always makes it sound like economy in turmoil,
- 4:50Speaker 2: economy in crisis. Well, if you look at the actual numbers,
- 4:53Speaker 2: in fact, nobody reported that thing that came out a
- 4:57Speaker 2: week and a half ago. Median income at an all-time high,
- 5:00Speaker 2: poverty low at an all-time rate. Inflation's a little up,
- 5:03Speaker 2: but it's nowhere, nowhere near what it was. Oil prices
- 5:07Speaker 2: are high, but the Republicans don't counter message enough. It's
- 5:12Speaker 2: getting to be a little too late. You're a little
- 5:14Speaker 2: less than five weeks away. This is not the time
- 5:17Speaker 2: to start. So they've been screwing up badly on all
- 5:21Speaker 2: of this. And, you know, even in the Iran war,
- 5:25Speaker 2: which nobody likes, everybody hates this Iran war, pain in
- 5:28Speaker 2: the neck. I mean, the good thing is you did
- 5:31Speaker 2: stop Iran's nuclear enrichment. They were, they were, I give,
- 5:37Speaker 2: meet the press credit. They had the Iranian foreign minister
- 5:41Speaker 2: on who defended his case. It was, this guy looks
- 5:45Speaker 2: so panicky. It looked like they were going to execute
- 5:48Speaker 2: him in Iran the moment he got home if he
- 5:50Speaker 2: said one wrong word. But she did ask him, you know,
- 5:55Speaker 2: the uranium they had, they kept claiming, and this guy
- 5:58Speaker 2: kept claiming it was just for commercial purposes. It was
- 6:01Speaker 2: for energy, electricity. It was just for commercial purposes. And
- 6:06Speaker 2: she kept saying, well, that would mean you would enrich
- 6:08Speaker 2: to 2% or 3%, 20% at the most. You kept enriching.
- 6:12Speaker 2: You had it up to 60%.
- 6:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:16Speaker 2: And the guy kept double talking an answer. And he
- 6:18Speaker 2: basically said, that's not illegal to make it. Well, I
- 6:21Speaker 2: guess this, I mean, it's not illegal in Iran. It's
- 6:25Speaker 2: illegal for us because if you enrich to 90%, you
- 6:29Speaker 2: got a nuclear bomb and they got it all the
- 6:32Speaker 2: way up to 60%, which would mean they were two
- 6:35Speaker 2: weeks away from 90%, two weeks away from having the bomb. Now,
- 6:39Speaker 2: obviously wouldn't want Iran to have a nuclear bomb. And
- 6:41Speaker 2: the real fear is once they got it, very tough
- 6:45Speaker 2: to go in and stop them. Once they've got nuclear weapons,
- 6:48Speaker 2: it's hard to go to a war with them. So, uh,
- 6:52Speaker 2: she did ask him the tough questions. He did look, uh,
- 6:55Speaker 2: completely frightened as he answered because, uh, they do like
- 6:59Speaker 2: to execute their leaders in, in Iran. So, uh, at present, uh,
- 7:04Speaker 2: there's a big announcement today. Nobody quite knows what it is.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Is it an AI announcement? Is it, uh, it could
- 7:10Speaker 2: be something about the press, uh, The press ban, all
- 7:15Speaker 2: of that stuff. There's a rumor floating around. You know,
- 7:18Speaker 2: they have a beautiful press room. That's where they have
- 7:20Speaker 2: the press conferences. And it used to be the White
- 7:23Speaker 2: House pool for many, many years. I mean, the swimming pool.
- 7:26Speaker 2: The White House had a beautiful swimming pool. A lot
- 7:30Speaker 2: of presidents. It's very good for them. Swimming, good exercise,
- 7:33Speaker 2: good stress reliever. A lot of presidents used it. Kennedy
- 7:37Speaker 2: famously used it with those two hookers. Pixie and Dixie
- 7:42Speaker 2: or Jinks and Hinks, whatever their names were. But was
- 7:47Speaker 2: it Nixon? Yeah, I think it was Nixon that covered.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Nixon didn't want to swim. And they needed to put
- 7:53Speaker 2: a press room someplace. So they covered up the pool,
- 7:56Speaker 2: built a floor over it. And that's where they put
- 7:59Speaker 2: in the press room. And it's been redone a couple
- 8:01Speaker 2: of times. It's a beautiful press room. So a rumor
- 8:04Speaker 2: going around is the president is going to announce he's
- 8:07Speaker 2: going to get rid of the press room, tear up
- 8:09Speaker 2: that floor and bring the pool back. And put the
- 8:12Speaker 2: swimming pool back. It's a good idea. Donald Trump does
- 8:15Speaker 2: not swim ever. So it wouldn't be for him. But
- 8:19Speaker 2: it's a nice idea to have that White House swimming pool.
- 8:22Speaker 2: And as long as you've got a builder in office,
- 8:25Speaker 2: let him do it. Of course, the pool will be
- 8:26Speaker 2: all gold and everything. But so what? Hey, Bar Lago
- 8:29Speaker 2: has a beautiful pool. The guy has 25 resorts. They
- 8:33Speaker 2: all got beautiful swimming pools. Let him do it. Let
- 8:35Speaker 2: him build it. He loves building projects. So that's just
- 8:39Speaker 2: a rumor. We don't know if that's the announcement. later
- 8:41Speaker 2: today uh now uh ai what is you got to
- 8:48Speaker 2: be afraid of the president saying they didn't really he
- 8:51Speaker 2: and president she didn't really talk about.
- 8:53Speaker 5: It i spoke a little bit about it with president
- 8:56Speaker 5: she not too much it wasn't a topic of.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Conversation yeah now that the meeting with president she there's
- 9:01Speaker 2: a lot of criticism that he was so deferential to
- 9:05Speaker 2: she why was he being so respectful and uh More
- 9:08Speaker 2: so than with other leaders. You know, you watch Trump
- 9:09Speaker 2: with a world leader. He's slapping the guy in the back.
- 9:12Speaker 2: When he shakes hands, he grabs the guy's hands and
- 9:14Speaker 2: he pulls them towards him. It's like a domineering kind
- 9:17Speaker 2: of move. He didn't do that with Xi. This bowing
- 9:20Speaker 2: and normal handshake. Why was he being so respectful? Could
- 9:24Speaker 2: have been to help Xi. Xi's in a lot of
- 9:26Speaker 2: trouble back home. Xi wants to stay in power. There's
- 9:30Speaker 2: a big movement to get rid of him. There's a
- 9:33Speaker 2: possibility he won't last. He wants to look like he's
- 9:36Speaker 2: a powerful figure on the world stage. So Trump and
- 9:40Speaker 2: him get along, and that might have been a way
- 9:42Speaker 2: of making Xi look stronger back at home, help him
- 9:46Speaker 2: save his job. So that's why he's being so respectful.
- 9:49Speaker 2: I'm sure they talked about AI more than he's saying.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Big thing about AI, if you're to believe this, uh
- 9:57Speaker 2: how dangerous it is and uh some people say there's
- 10:01Speaker 2: nothing to worry about and then you got bill gates
- 10:04Speaker 2: on the sunday shows and writing those uh op-ed pieces
- 10:07Speaker 2: that it's going to kill us all it'll kill a
- 10:08Speaker 2: billion people we're all going to be dead somewhere in
- 10:11Speaker 2: the middle is probably the answer you remember gates is
- 10:14Speaker 2: always uh sounding the alarm bell and always getting too
- 10:18Speaker 2: hyperbolic and hysterical about everything, whether it was food shortages
- 10:22Speaker 2: or vaccines or whatever it was. But there is something
- 10:26Speaker 2: to worry about. But the point is, if it's that dangerous,
- 10:29Speaker 2: if it's that deadly a weapon, if it can wipe
- 10:32Speaker 2: out everybody, then it's crucial that we be the leaders
- 10:37Speaker 2: of AI, that we be the ones in control of
- 10:39Speaker 2: AI and not let China do that. It'd be like
- 10:43Speaker 2: we had no nuclear weapons and China had them all.
- 10:45Speaker 2: So that's the problem. Right now we lead in China.
- 10:49Speaker 2: China is pushing this movement to stop AI here. That
- 10:53Speaker 2: way they can get ahead of us. We're ahead of
- 10:54Speaker 2: them right now, as President Trump points out.
- 10:57Speaker 5: And we're leading and we're building tremendous, you know, trillions
- 11:00Speaker 5: of dollars worth of places. And why should we give
- 11:03Speaker 5: that up? You don't give up a trillion dollar or more,
- 11:08Speaker 5: two or three or four trillion dollar industry because you
- 11:11Speaker 5: think something like that, we will straighten it out if
- 11:14Speaker 5: and when a problem occurs.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Yeah, he's meeting with these AI leaders, the head of Anthropic,
- 11:20Speaker 2: he's having dinner with him tonight.
- 11:21Speaker 5: Well, we're going to talk about it. I'm for let's
- 11:25Speaker 5: go and let's win. You know, we're about a year,
- 11:27Speaker 5: maybe a year and a half up on China. There
- 11:29Speaker 5: is nobody in third place. I mean, it's just us
- 11:32Speaker 5: and China.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Yeah, so it's like a nuclear arms race. Now, AI,
- 11:36Speaker 2: a lot of you use it and say it's just cute.
- 11:39Speaker 2: I use it to... Help me write an essay. I
- 11:42Speaker 2: use it to look up stuff. I use it to
- 11:45Speaker 2: work on my website. I use it to do my resume.
- 11:49Speaker 2: What's the danger? Well, that's what a lot of people
- 11:52Speaker 2: are using it for now. It's like a super Google,
- 11:57Speaker 2: a more advanced version of a search engine. It's help
- 12:01Speaker 2: you write stuff. It's helping you with simple tasks like that.
- 12:05Speaker 2: That's what a lot of people are using it for.
- 12:08Speaker 2: There's a much, much deeper... a part of AI where
- 12:12Speaker 2: it can do all kinds of stuff. Instead of it
- 12:16Speaker 2: just writing your copy for your website, people can use
- 12:21Speaker 2: AI to go build a website, create a website, do
- 12:25Speaker 2: all sorts of stuff. It's not like Google. Some people
- 12:27Speaker 2: think it's just an advanced form of Google. Google is
- 12:30Speaker 2: just a search engine. It's just searching. AI can take action.
- 12:35Speaker 2: It can attack a website. It can create bots and
- 12:38Speaker 2: bombard a website. It can hack into a website and
- 12:41Speaker 2: take over a website. These are things Google obviously can't do.
- 12:44Speaker 2: And the part, there's a lot of stuff to AI.
- 12:46Speaker 2: It's too complicated to get into all of it. But
- 12:49Speaker 2: one of the, the part of AI we're worrying about
- 12:52Speaker 2: is what they call the recursive part, the recursive self-improving AI.
- 12:58Speaker 2: And that's where you program the AI to do something.
- 13:04Speaker 2: But the AI has the capability to go beyond what
- 13:07Speaker 2: you told it to do. It can retrain itself. It
- 13:11Speaker 2: can reinvent itself. Without you, it can autonomously, on its own,
- 13:16Speaker 2: design new codes or transition into something else. You give
- 13:21Speaker 2: it the task. You give it the code. It can
- 13:23Speaker 2: rewrite that. It can advance itself. And if you tell it,
- 13:28Speaker 2: don't do this, don't do that, well, it can suddenly
- 13:31Speaker 2: rewrite the code so it can. That's what they call
- 13:33Speaker 2: the recursive self-improving AI. So that's the part they got
- 13:39Speaker 2: to try to fix. Somehow you got to fix it
- 13:44Speaker 2: so the system can't improve itself on its own, can't
- 13:47Speaker 2: take those actions without permission. But again, it's AI. It
- 13:51Speaker 2: can learn to jailbreak its way out of whatever thing
- 13:54Speaker 2: you set up. So that's the problem. Now, people say, well,
- 13:58Speaker 2: we'll just put a, See, a lot of these politicians,
- 14:00Speaker 2: the problem with Congress or anybody regulating it, the Bernie
- 14:04Speaker 2: Sanders type is that they don't know anything about it.
- 14:08Speaker 2: They're just too stupid technically. They don't understand anything about AI.
- 14:12Speaker 2: They don't understand the technology. There's one thing Bill Gates
- 14:14Speaker 2: was saying on these Sunday shows, because the Bernie Sanders,
- 14:18Speaker 2: you don't have to put a kill switch, you don't
- 14:19Speaker 2: have to require a kill switch on it. Gates was explaining,
- 14:23Speaker 2: there's no such thing as a kill switch. You have
- 14:25Speaker 2: to be Really, internet illiterate to think you could have
- 14:29Speaker 2: a kill switch. There's no possibility. There's no such thing
- 14:32Speaker 2: as a kill switch. So this is complicated. This is
- 14:37Speaker 2: going to take a lot of looking at. You know,
- 14:40Speaker 2: the ex-Trump official, Alina Haba, she had been a lawyer.
- 14:44Speaker 2: I think she was Trump's lawyer at one point. She'd
- 14:46Speaker 2: been a prosecutor. She was in the Trump administration. She left,
- 14:52Speaker 2: and she's 42 now. She just got married. She found
- 14:57Speaker 2: a Turkish billionaire. He's only 29, a lot younger than her,
- 15:02Speaker 2: but he's a billionaire. Perfect. So she marries this billionaire.
- 15:07Speaker 2: They had their wedding over the weekend in the Waldorf Ballroom,
- 15:11Speaker 2: the new redesigned Waldorf Ballroom. I don't think it's as
- 15:15Speaker 2: nice as the old one. The old one was a
- 15:17Speaker 2: little classier. It was white and gold. This one is
- 15:20Speaker 2: silver and too shiny. But when they redid it and
- 15:23Speaker 2: reopened the Waldorf, they also really raised up the prices.
- 15:26Speaker 2: They jacked up the prices. That's why a lot of
- 15:29Speaker 2: the big charity galas that used to be in the Waldorf,
- 15:31Speaker 2: they're not rushing back. The prices are really high. So
- 15:34Speaker 2: she threw her wedding there with the Turkish billionaire. The cost,
- 15:39Speaker 2: because they had more flowers than you've ever seen. I mean,
- 15:41Speaker 2: it was what they did to transform the ballroom. The
- 15:44Speaker 2: cost is said to be $ 10 million for the wedding.
- 15:47Speaker 2: $ 10 million for the wedding. I hope this guy's not
- 15:50Speaker 2: going to be spending that much on all of his weddings.
- 15:52Speaker 2: That's a lot of money. But he's a billionaire. He
- 15:55Speaker 2: can afford it. Then they said, if you read the headline,
- 15:59Speaker 2: star-studded wedding. Well, I'm looking. Who's the stars? It's Kash Patel.
- 16:07Speaker 2: All right, nice guy, but not a big star. I mean,
- 16:10Speaker 2: you walk down the street with Kash Patel, people are going, oh,
- 16:13Speaker 2: it's Kash Patel. You know, most people don't. when he
- 16:17Speaker 2: comes to the room, you think it's the it guy.
- 16:18Speaker 2: I mean, most people don't get excited about cash. Who's
- 16:21Speaker 2: the other big stars. Attorney general, Todd Blanche. Very nice guy.
- 16:25Speaker 2: But again, uh, if he's walking down the street, nobody
- 16:29Speaker 2: knows who he, I don't, I wouldn't call that a big,
- 16:31Speaker 2: big star. Mike Tyson was there. Okay. I don't know
- 16:36Speaker 2: if that's a good omen for your marriage to have
- 16:38Speaker 2: Mike Tyson. I don't know if that's good luck having
- 16:41Speaker 2: Mike Tyson. And, uh, Margo Martin, she's one of President
- 16:46Speaker 2: Trump's executive assistants. Very nice woman. Hey, we'll get to
- 16:50Speaker 2: Saturday Night Live. It was pretty interesting. They did go
- 16:56Speaker 2: after Trump. They went after Natalie Harp. She's another Trump
- 16:58Speaker 2: executive assistant. The press has decided to go after her,
- 17:02Speaker 2: make her look like she's a crazy stalker because she's
- 17:05Speaker 2: always following him wherever she is. That's what you do
- 17:10Speaker 2: when a presidential executive assistant That's what they do. They're
- 17:15Speaker 2: supposed to be there at all times. Every president has
- 17:18Speaker 2: had a Natalie Harp. Every president has had a Natalie Harp. Now,
- 17:24Speaker 2: Natalie Harp's very good looking, young. I mean, a lot
- 17:27Speaker 2: of these presidential assistants look like Madeleine Albright. So this
- 17:31Speaker 2: is a little different. But she's a very nice woman,
- 17:34Speaker 2: very fine woman, very good character. But they made her
- 17:37Speaker 2: look like a crazed stalker. Well, we'll get back. We'll
- 17:39Speaker 2: get to Saturday Night Live. Coming up, we've got a
- 17:41Speaker 2: lot to talk about. Don't forget, I'm here three hours
- 17:44Speaker 2: every day, nine to noon every day. Nine o'clock till
- 17:47Speaker 2: noon every day on 710WOR.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Mark Simone, live from the WOR Life Fact Studios.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Well, I guess I've accepted the fact that summer is over.
- 18:04Speaker 2: This weekend helped convince you. But also, baseball season is over.
- 18:08Speaker 2: It ended yesterday. Yankees' final game yesterday was rained out.
- 18:12Speaker 2: They didn't play it. And then they said they're not
- 18:14Speaker 2: going to reschedule it. So is that normal to just
- 18:19Speaker 2: not reschedule, have one less game for the season? I guess.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Playoff games start tomorrow, Yankees and Red Sox. Football all
- 18:26Speaker 2: over the place. Hockey is starting preseason. So I guess
- 18:32Speaker 2: I have to just accept the fact that the summer
- 18:35Speaker 2: is over. It was a lot of wind this weekend.
- 18:38Speaker 2: That takes down a lot of the leaves and all
- 18:40Speaker 2: that rain and all that stuff. So a lot going
- 18:45Speaker 2: on at the White House today. Yesterday, the president had
- 18:48Speaker 2: a long day yesterday. Remember Biden? He'd appear at like
- 18:54Speaker 2: a ribbon cutting in front of the White House for
- 18:57Speaker 2: a second, and then you wouldn't see him for a month.
- 18:59Speaker 2: President Trump, you got to give the guy credit. I
- 19:02Speaker 2: don't care how much you hate him. You got to
- 19:05Speaker 2: give him credit for stamina at the age of 80.
- 19:07Speaker 2: This weekend, he flew all over the place. He's in
- 19:11Speaker 2: Tennessee and Kentucky and Northgate, flying all over the place.
- 19:15Speaker 2: He even flew to Chicago to the President's Cup golf tournament.
- 19:22Speaker 2: And then he's running around all over the country all weekend. Sunday,
- 19:27Speaker 2: he's all over the place flying around, gets back to
- 19:29Speaker 2: the White House. And then at 10 o'clock, he's got
- 19:31Speaker 2: a dinner. At 10 o'clock at night, you know, when
- 19:36Speaker 2: you get that old, usually dinner's 4.30. But 10 o'clock
- 19:39Speaker 2: at night, he's having a dinner with the anthropic CEO,
- 19:42Speaker 2: AI executive. 10 o'clock at night, you know, President Trump,
- 19:45Speaker 2: he's always like a big thick steak and all that.
- 19:48Speaker 2: You're not supposed to eat that at 10. o'clock at night,
- 19:50Speaker 2: but he hardly sleeps. So what's the difference? But a
- 19:53Speaker 2: busy day today. And hey, that crazy New Jersey governor,
- 19:59Speaker 2: Mikey Sherrill, appointed the biggest decision you make when you
- 20:04Speaker 2: run for governor, when you start. First major decision, you
- 20:07Speaker 2: pick a lieutenant governor. Well, she picked a lieutenant governor
- 20:11Speaker 2: who was doing all kinds of stuff, and he had
- 20:13Speaker 2: to resign. What was he doing exactly? He hired his girlfriend.
- 20:16Speaker 2: He was having a relationship with an underling, something like that.
- 20:20Speaker 6: As a former federal prosecutor, I wanted to make sure
- 20:23Speaker 6: everyone was treated fairly and justly. This investigation was thorough,
- 20:28Speaker 6: and it was impartial.
- 20:29Speaker 4: Okay.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Be leery of a politician when they talk slow and
- 20:34Speaker 2: they read it. As a former prosecutor, so they investigated
- 20:38Speaker 2: this guy, he called Wellesley.
- 20:39Speaker 6: An attempt to hire someone he was dating, which was
- 20:43Speaker 6: against the ethics rules, but also he did not mention
- 20:47Speaker 6: that he was dating this individual. Sexual harassment substantiated in
- 20:54Speaker 6: the report, as well as concerns from other members that
- 20:59Speaker 6: worked for him about things that he was saying in
- 21:02Speaker 6: the office.
- 21:04Speaker 2: All right. All right. He hires a girlfriend. He's making
- 21:08Speaker 2: sexual comments to everybody in the office. Shouldn't you have
- 21:12Speaker 2: known this before you hired the guy? It's the one
- 21:17Speaker 2: major decision you make as a brand new gubernatorial candidate.
- 21:21Speaker 2: Shouldn't you have checked this out? You're a former prosecutor.
- 21:24Speaker 2: You said, shouldn't you know how to investigate?
- 21:26Speaker 6: We vet people very carefully. We have hired hundreds and
- 21:30Speaker 6: hundreds of people to office. And I think you can
- 21:33Speaker 6: see from The work we've done just in eight months,
- 21:37Speaker 6: how incredibly well we have done in much of our hiring.
- 21:41Speaker 6: The vetting process was thorough. And unfortunately, some of the
- 21:47Speaker 6: behavior from the time he took office raised concerns and
- 21:52Speaker 6: led to the chief ethics officer starting an independent investigation.
- 21:57Speaker 2: I don't know. These sexual abusers, sexual harasser, crude comment types.
- 22:02Speaker 2: It usually doesn't start all of a sudden. If he's
- 22:05Speaker 2: been doing this in office, you can be sure he
- 22:07Speaker 2: was doing it before. Well, let's let Caldwell give his side.
- 22:10Speaker 7: The report, I think, is suspicious. There are all sorts
- 22:13Speaker 7: of wrong things in the text. I'm not resigning because
- 22:17Speaker 7: of that ridiculous report. I'm resigning because I don't want
- 22:19Speaker 7: to be a distraction to the Mikey Sherrill administration. You know,
- 22:22Speaker 7: I think that there's a lot of great things they've started.
- 22:25Speaker 7: I started some great things at the Department of State
- 22:27Speaker 7: that will be continued.
- 22:28Speaker 2: Well, that's it. It's official. It's not true. He's confirmed it.
- 22:32Speaker 2: It's not true. And... You got two excuses you can
- 22:37Speaker 2: use when you get fired, when you get thrown out.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Biggest excuse, they always say, I like to spend more
- 22:45Speaker 2: time with my family. You know, they always give you
- 22:47Speaker 2: that excuse. Yeah, I want to spend more time with
- 22:49Speaker 2: my family. Then you see their family. Who the hell
- 22:53Speaker 2: would want to spend more time with them? And then
- 22:55Speaker 2: the other excuse is, I don't want to be a distraction.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Too late. It's already been. The major news in New
- 23:03Speaker 2: Jersey for two weeks. A little too late for this.
- 23:06Speaker 2: If you didn't want to be a distraction, the second
- 23:07Speaker 2: she mentioned it, you should have quit and left. Then
- 23:09Speaker 2: she wouldn't have to throw you the hell out and
- 23:11Speaker 2: make it all public like that. Well, what are you
- 23:15Speaker 2: going to do? It happens. It happens. She's a little
- 23:18Speaker 2: wacky anyway. Hey, we'll get to Saturday Night Live coming up.
- 23:23Speaker 2: They really went after Mom Donnie. They went after Trump
- 23:26Speaker 2: a lot more, but they did hit Mom Donnie with
- 23:30Speaker 2: a couple of shots. We'll get to that coming up.
- 23:33Speaker 2: That was Jason Bronson. Hey, good for this guy. How
- 23:37Speaker 2: do you say his name? Jalen. Can you tell I'm
- 23:43Speaker 2: not a basketball fan? Can you tell I never saw
- 23:46Speaker 2: a basketball game until the Knicks playoffs? What the hell
- 23:48Speaker 2: is his name? Jalen. Jalen Bronson. But he's like a
- 23:55Speaker 2: superstar now because of the Knicks and all that. So
- 23:58Speaker 2: he was the guest host on Saturday Night Live. And
- 24:02Speaker 2: because he's such a superstar, you know, half the time
- 24:04Speaker 2: they have a guest host, you don't know who the
- 24:06Speaker 2: hell it is, some young actor. But because he was
- 24:09Speaker 2: such a superstar, people were lined up. Hundreds of fans
- 24:12Speaker 2: were camping out just hoping to see him come in
- 24:16Speaker 2: and out of the building. Hundreds of fans. So you
- 24:18Speaker 2: know what this guy did? He went and bought them
- 24:22Speaker 2: all cookies. The NBC pages came out with boxes of
- 24:26Speaker 2: cookies to hand out to the critics. Remember, they're waiting
- 24:29Speaker 2: out in the rain and all that. And they weren't
- 24:31Speaker 2: just cookies. You could go get cookies anywhere. You could
- 24:34Speaker 2: buy a bag of cookies anywhere. These are from Levain Bakery,
- 24:38Speaker 2: probably the finest chocolate chip cookies in New York. I mean,
- 24:41Speaker 2: this is very special cookies. He had somebody go to Levain,
- 24:44Speaker 2: buy hundreds of cookies, had, I'm sure he paid the
- 24:47Speaker 2: NBC pages extra to pass these out to the, obviously
- 24:51Speaker 2: a very nice guy or a very shrewd guy who
- 24:55Speaker 2: knows how to get just the right publicity. Somehow everybody
- 24:58Speaker 2: found out that he gave these cookies, but it's a nice,
- 25:00Speaker 2: nice gesture. Hey, we've got a lot to get to.
- 25:02Speaker 2: We'll take some calls, too, coming up. Mark Simone here,
- 25:04Speaker 2: 9 to noon every day, 710WOR. Much more Mark.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Mark Simone. Now 9 till noon weekdays. On 710WOR.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Hey, we'll take some calls. 800-321-0710 is the number.
- 25:19Speaker 4: 800-321-0710.
- 25:19Speaker 2: If you have a Boeing stock, you might have noticed
- 25:22Speaker 2: it took a drop today. Uh, here's the problem. Oh,
- 25:33Speaker 2: this doesn't sound good. Boeing says it found a software
- 25:37Speaker 2: glitch on the new 737 max. This is a big
- 25:41Speaker 2: new plane, the 737 max, but that says they found
- 25:44Speaker 2: a software glitch that could affect landing procedures. That sounds
- 25:51Speaker 2: pretty serious. So landing is a very important part of
- 25:54Speaker 2: the flight. So, uh, now here are phones working. because
- 26:00Speaker 2: it's this phone is dark here it's usually lit up
- 26:03Speaker 2: with all the things dark i don't know why maybe
- 26:05Speaker 2: this one's just off but the one in there is
- 26:07Speaker 2: on right so that's that's all that matters uh you
- 26:10Speaker 2: know the un is still going on with this un
- 26:14Speaker 2: general assembly but it's uh not going to be a
- 26:16Speaker 2: lot of traffic because all the world leaders are gone
- 26:19Speaker 2: thank god uh they're all out of town so this
- 26:21Speaker 2: will be much better but the un continues its work
- 26:25Speaker 2: nobody knows what the hell that is except uh This
- 26:28Speaker 2: UN is the most disgusting anti-Semitic organization in the world.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Just awful anti-Semitic crap that goes on there. Do you
- 26:38Speaker 2: know that the UN has a list, a blacklist of
- 26:42Speaker 2: 60 companies that they want blacklisted because the companies do
- 26:47Speaker 2: business with Israel? It's absolutely disgusting. This is the UN
- 26:53Speaker 2: office of the High Commissioner for for human rights, which
- 26:57Speaker 2: is like the worst anti-Semite of all. So the United Nations, uh,
- 27:01Speaker 2: if you do any business in parts of Israel, uh,
- 27:06Speaker 2: or parts of Gaza, they've got 214 companies that they're blacklisting, uh,
- 27:15Speaker 2: major companies like Motorola, uh, travel apps like Airbnb, uh, TripAdvisor. Uh, it's,
- 27:23Speaker 2: it's just awful. The United Nations claims, uh, that certain
- 27:27Speaker 2: parts of the Jewish community beyond the 1949 armistice lines
- 27:31Speaker 2: are in occupied Palestinian territory. Well, this is absolutely, again,
- 27:36Speaker 2: it could go on and on list all the anti-Semitic
- 27:40Speaker 2: things that go on in the UN. But this is
- 27:45Speaker 2: just another one. I know most people don't know that
- 27:46Speaker 2: they run this blacklist. It's absolutely disgusting. So let's see
- 27:53Speaker 2: if it works. I don't know. Maybe it's just the
- 27:54Speaker 2: light on the phone. Let's try it. Let's go to,
- 27:57Speaker 2: Blovelt in Florida. Blovelt, are you there?
- 28:00Speaker 4: Mark Simone, good morning, sir.
- 28:01Speaker 7: How are you?
- 28:02Speaker 3: Good.
- 28:02Speaker 2: What's going on in Florida?
- 28:05Speaker 4: It's 88 degrees. The humidity's gone. It's getting a little cooler.
- 28:09Speaker 3: Really?
- 28:09Speaker 4: It's the right time of year to be down here.
- 28:11Speaker 2: Hey, don't give me that. You know, here it was
- 28:12Speaker 2: 80 and sunny all weekend. We had the most beautiful weekend.
- 28:15Speaker 2: The sun was shining. It was wonderful.
- 28:17Speaker 4: I miss September in New York City.
- 28:21Speaker 2: I sure do.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:22Speaker 2: Actually, it was pouring rain. I don't want anybody to
- 28:23Speaker 2: think this is a rerun. It was awful. Hey, go ahead, Blovelt.
- 28:27Speaker 4: Quick question for you. You're always talking about when you're
- 28:31Speaker 4: promoting the other radio shows, Buck and Clay and Hannity,
- 28:34Speaker 4: with how many listeners they have. How many listeners do
- 28:37Speaker 4: you have?
- 28:39Speaker 2: Oh, we have a couple million listeners. The podcast, you know,
- 28:43Speaker 2: after the show's over, we podcast it. The podcast did,
- 28:46Speaker 2: I think it was 10.3 million last year. We're going
- 28:49Speaker 2: to try to hit 11 million this year. Oh, that's fantastic.
- 28:53Speaker 2: You know what? Just check every week. It's really interesting.
- 28:54Speaker 2: iHeart puts out a list of the top 100 podcasts
- 28:57Speaker 2: in America. We always make the top 50. That's out
- 29:00Speaker 2: of 2 million podcasts in America.
- 29:04Speaker 4: Wow.
- 29:04Speaker 2: I'll look into that.
- 29:05Speaker 4: And one more question for you, if I don't mind.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:10Speaker 4: That new picture of you when I got you up
- 29:12Speaker 4: on iHeart, it seems like you're sitting on the roof.
- 29:15Speaker 1: Oh.
- 29:17Speaker 2: It's a very picturesque, beautiful window. It's here at iHeart.
- 29:20Speaker 2: It comes to a point like a V-shape. That's the one.
- 29:23Speaker 4: It's a window.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Yeah, what'd you think it was? You think I'm hanging
- 29:26Speaker 2: over the ledge? It's a window. Don't you see the
- 29:29Speaker 2: beams behind it? Oh, what happened? Are you there? Oh,
- 29:33Speaker 2: we lost him. Blow belt. No, we lost him. Yeah,
- 29:38Speaker 2: it's a window. I can't tell you. anybody where it
- 29:40Speaker 2: is because it's in a certain spot. I heard here
- 29:42Speaker 2: is like 10 floors of this big, huge skyscraper. And
- 29:45Speaker 2: everybody goes, where's that window? I want to take a
- 29:47Speaker 2: picture there. But you tell somebody, then everybody's got the
- 29:49Speaker 2: same picture. So I don't tell anybody where that window is.
- 29:53Speaker 2: It's a secret. Nobody has ever found it here at iHeart.
- 29:58Speaker 2: You know, we got this hallway when you come in.
- 30:00Speaker 2: The main entrance, the main entranceway, it's all lights all
- 30:03Speaker 2: the way down the hallway. You've seen that. You'll see
- 30:07Speaker 2: that picture. Everybody takes a picture. It's a million lights
- 30:09Speaker 2: all the way down the hallway. Looks like you're walking
- 30:12Speaker 2: through AI or something. It's quite beautiful. But 800-321-0710 is
- 30:18Speaker 2: the number. Let's go to Barbie in Wayne, New Jersey. Barbie,
- 30:23Speaker 2: are you there?
- 30:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 30:26Speaker 2: Barbie. I like that name. That's a great name.
- 30:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:29Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 30:30Speaker 2: It's a great name. Yeah.
- 30:34Speaker 8: Don't rush.
- 30:35Speaker 2: Anytime you feel like jumping in. Yes, go ahead.
- 30:38Speaker 8: Oh, I'm sorry. Listen, my friend is married to a
- 30:42Speaker 8: man who came from China about seven years ago and
- 30:46Speaker 8: applied for political asylum. And in the meantime, he got
- 30:50Speaker 8: married and married four years to her. And he got
- 30:53Speaker 8: a letter a month ago. They refused the political asylum
- 30:57Speaker 8: and They're in the process of deportation.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Oh, that's terrible.
- 31:00Speaker 8: And, you know, I'm a big, well, it is, I'm
- 31:03Speaker 8: a big Trump supporter and I didn't know that this
- 31:09Speaker 8: was part of the plan.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Well, he's not an illegal citizen. Does he have a
- 31:15Speaker 2: green card, all that stuff? Yeah. Well, the visa is
- 31:20Speaker 2: only temporary. You got to get a green card. If
- 31:24Speaker 2: he marries her, doesn't that help him stay?
- 31:29Speaker 8: Well, that's why we don't understand.
- 31:31Speaker 2: Is she a citizen?
- 31:33Speaker 8: Yeah, of course.
- 31:34Speaker 2: Well, that should help.
- 31:36Speaker 4: Well, I mean, why?
- 31:40Speaker 8: You know, this is the biggest irony is that he's
- 31:44Speaker 8: a Trump supporter.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Well, it's terrible.
- 31:46Speaker 8: I mean, he doesn't vote because he can't.
- 31:48Speaker 2: You think he's really being deported? You think he's really
- 31:51Speaker 2: being deported? Because sometimes a guy wants to get away
- 31:53Speaker 2: from this marriage. That's a good excuse.
- 31:56Speaker 5: No.
- 31:56Speaker 2: I'm sorry, I'm being deported. I've got to wonder that.
- 31:59Speaker 8: He got a letter that... Well, you can make.
- 32:01Speaker 2: Up a letter on AI. You sure he's really being deported?
- 32:04Speaker 8: Listen.
- 32:04Speaker 2: Yes.
- 32:05Speaker 8: Mark, if you're not going to take it serious, I'm
- 32:07Speaker 8: going to hang up.
- 32:08Speaker 2: I mean, he's upsetting.
- 32:09Speaker 8: He's a good friend.
- 32:10Speaker 2: No, I agree with you. That's a terrible situation. So
- 32:13Speaker 2: what I would do is wherever he is.
- 32:15Speaker 8: Let me just say this. Let me just say this.
- 32:18Speaker 8: And she's reading where they're not... All right, well, listen
- 32:21Speaker 8: to me.
- 32:21Speaker 2: Listen to me. What he should do immediately is call
- 32:24Speaker 2: his congressman or woman. Call them. They did. It's most
- 32:28Speaker 2: likely a Democrat. Tell them you've got some anti-Trump situation here,
- 32:32Speaker 2: and they'll jump on it. Usually a congressperson can do something.
- 32:35Speaker 8: No, listen, they did, and they got a letter back
- 32:38Speaker 8: saying that they asked to be expedited paperwork.
- 32:43Speaker 2: All right, well, try the congressman. Try the local TV news,
- 32:48Speaker 2: News 12, all that. Try writing letters. Well, get some
- 32:52Speaker 2: press on it. Yeah.
- 32:56Speaker 8: Do you think President Trump listens every day?
- 33:01Speaker 2: It's not about President Trump. It's not up to him.
- 33:03Speaker 2: You want to get somebody in the local ICE office somewhere. Again,
- 33:07Speaker 2: keep calling your congressman. Call the governors. They're all Democrats.
- 33:11Speaker 2: They'll love an anti-Trump story. Call them and get them
- 33:13Speaker 2: on this, and then they can bring a lot of
- 33:15Speaker 2: attention to it and maybe stop it.
- 33:17Speaker 8: Okay.
- 33:18Speaker 2: All right.
- 33:18Speaker 8: Thank you, Mark.
- 33:19Speaker 1: All right.
- 33:19Speaker 2: Thanks for calling. Well, we've got a lot to get
- 33:22Speaker 2: to today. We'll get to SNL. It was great. pretty
- 33:26Speaker 2: good at times and pretty bad at times typical for
- 33:30Speaker 2: snl we'll get to the new iphone we'll get to
- 33:33Speaker 2: uh we'll get to china and a whole lot we're
- 33:35Speaker 2: going to get back to ai we got a lot

- 33:56Speaker 2: very funny Jimmy Fela at 9 o'clock every night. It's

- 34:06Speaker 2: Mark Simone. More Mark.
- 34:09Speaker 8: On 710WOR.
- 34:09Speaker 6: Well, all right.
- 34:13Speaker 2: I don't feel great. You don't feel right today? It's
- 34:16Speaker 2: the three days of rain. Psychologically, it gets to you
- 34:19Speaker 2: after a while. You feel a little... I don't know,
- 34:22Speaker 2: not depressed, but a little, three days of being rained in,
- 34:26Speaker 2: three days of listening to this. It's going to continue
- 34:36Speaker 2: through the morning. It's supposed to stop raining afternoon. It
- 34:39Speaker 2: might be a little rain here and there. Now, it's
- 34:41Speaker 2: supposed to be nice tomorrow. Not great, but nice, dry,
- 34:45Speaker 2: nice day. And then Wednesday is supposed to be very mild,
- 34:47Speaker 2: back up about 75. So that'll cure everything. Hey, we
- 34:51Speaker 2: got two more hours to go and a lot to
- 34:52Speaker 2: get to coming up here on 710WOR.
