- 0:12Hello friends, it's shown here and it is Friday.
- 0:16It is the 5th of July, it is the end of the week and bully for
- 0:21you, you've done great. Again, here you are Friday.
- 0:26Well done. I hope the weeks been a good one
- 0:28for you. And I hope today is full of
- 0:31promise. My last day at work before a
- 0:34couple of weeks away from work. Wow.
- 0:37I cannot even begin to imagine the things I will be able to get
- 0:41up to. Ah, how fantastic.
- 0:44I hope that it's a good one for you.
- 0:45I hope that today, as you think about the weekend ahead, yeah,
- 0:49you got some good things planned.
- 0:51Maybe a bit of space and a bit of time for you.
- 0:54I wouldn't that be great. Or maybe you are in a busy phase
- 0:58of your life where every moment is taken up.
- 1:01Or maybe you feel like actually your life is quite spacious
- 1:05often and you are very grateful for that wherever you are, no
- 1:08matter where this finds you. So great that you are choosing
- 1:12to spend these moments inviting the living God through His word
- 1:17into your day, to punctuate, to colour, to shape the way that
- 1:23you tackle today and your mindset as you do that.
- 1:27Thanks for joining your friends. It is such a privilege and an
- 1:30honour to be able to do this with you.
- 1:32And so that is what we're going to do.
- 1:34Last week we were heading up that mountain toward Jerusalem.
- 1:38And today, today we are reading the next Psalms, Psalm 121, and
- 1:43it has got exactly the same title, a song for pilgrims.
- 1:48Well, that wouldn't be the same, would it?
- 1:50Because no one knows what a Pilgrim is.
- 1:52Let's try again. A song for pilgrims ascending to
- 1:55Jerusalem. This again is a short sound, so
- 1:59strap on the backpack. Look up that mountain.
- 2:02It's not that far to go. Let us sing this song.
- 2:05Read this Sam Share this poem as we head toward God's holy city.
- 2:11Reading together Psalm 121. I look up to the mountains.
- 2:27Does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord who
- 2:32made heaven and earth. He will not let you stumble.
- 2:37The one who watch overs you will not slumber.
- 2:41Indeed, he who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps.
- 2:46The Lord himself watches over you.
- 2:50The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade.
- 2:55The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon at night.
- 3:00The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life.
- 3:06The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and
- 3:11forever. Our Father, if ever it is that
- 3:25we need encouragement to know that You are for us, here it is.
- 3:31You watch over us. You protect us, You keep our
- 3:36feet from stumbling, You don't sleep, you don't look away, but
- 3:41you are forever our vigilant protector, loving God and mighty
- 3:47Saviour. As we go through today, I thank
- 3:54you that you will go through today with us.
- 3:57And as we come to the end of the day and the weekend ahead, we
- 4:01know that you forever walk beside us.
- 4:05Help us to always, always be aware of that fact so that we
- 4:10can be so confident that no matter what we face, we never
- 4:14have to face it alone. And no matter how fragile our
- 4:17hearts feel, no matter what fear may be bubbling up inside of us,
- 4:22we do not need to fear because you stand beside us, Your might
- 4:28present and for us. So we just lean into you, we
- 4:35rest in your presence, and we thank you and we love you, a
- 4:40gracious Father, and we're able to pray all these things through
- 4:45the saving name of Jesus. Amen.
