- 0:00Um, Alb played well. Um, they, you know,
- 0:02beat us at our own game and thought they
- 0:04made the adjustments from the last one.
- 0:07Uh, Georgia kind of punked them and, um,
- 0:09you know, they did a great job of
- 0:10responding and I told our guys going
- 0:12into the game that that was going to be
- 0:14a real point of emphasis on their part
- 0:16and, uh, you know, credit to them for
- 0:18coming out here and executing it. We,
- 0:19uh, we got pushed around and, uh, you
- 0:21know, they they punked us. So, that's
- 0:24that's that's the short of it. Um, you
- 0:26know, they missed
- 0:2833 shots and got 19 of their misses
- 0:31back. And, uh, you know, it's a great
- 0:33offensive team and they're they're going
- 0:35to make shots and they're going to make
- 0:36tough plays, but you got to do
- 0:37everything you can to limit, you know,
- 0:39their second chance opportunities. If
- 0:41they shoot 52% from the field and 25%
- 0:44from three and 65 from the line, if you
- 0:46look back at games this year, like, they
- 0:48probably don't win many of those games,
- 0:50but when you get 19 offensive rebounds,
- 0:52you know, you're you're going to be able
- 0:53to stay in those. So, they did a great
- 0:55job there and uh we had a bunch of
- 0:57really bad turnovers early which got us
- 0:59into a hole and weren't able to dig out
- 1:00of it. So, take any questions
- 1:10>> specifically on the offensive rebounds.
- 1:12I guess from what you could see, how how
- 1:13much of those do you feel like were
- 1:15effort versus just things that maybe
- 1:17they did?
- 1:18I haven't watched the film yet because
- 1:20I, you know, the game just ended, but
- 1:22I'm I'm sure it was a combination of
- 1:23both. Um, it felt like every time that
- 1:26they got an offensive rebound, the guy
- 1:27that was just staring at the ball when
- 1:29the shot went up, his man was the one
- 1:30that got it. So, uh, that's typically
- 1:32how it works. And, uh, they do a really
- 1:34good job of sending guys through the
- 1:35free throw line. And, uh, you know,
- 1:37they, uh, you know, anytime we did hit,
- 1:40they would still push and, uh, they got
- 1:42those rebounds. So, credit to them.
- 1:44They, uh, they did a really good job,
- 1:46um, in that part of the game. So, um,
- 1:48you know, we'll watch the film and, uh,
- 1:50I'm sure a lot of it was, you know, us
- 1:52just, you know, not going and finding a
- 1:55body and just turning and looking at the
- 1:56ball and, uh, we got to clean that up.
- 2:01>> Stephen, what do you attribute to the
- 2:02turnovers early on? This is, you know,
- 2:05an area where you guys again have done a
- 2:06really good job at this year, but that
- 2:08was kind of uncharacteristic those first
- 2:10few minutes.
- 2:10>> Yeah, I mean, it looked a lot like the
- 2:12Old Miss game, didn't it? you know, just
- 2:14like silly turnovers, casual turnovers,
- 2:17just, you know, we dribbled off our foot
- 2:18one time. We had two really bad outlet
- 2:20passes. Um, just too casual with the
- 2:23ball. You know, anytime that they would
- 2:24send multiple guys, you know, we didn't
- 2:26get off it in time and, uh, they did a
- 2:28really good job of stripping and
- 2:29ripping. So, all things that, you know,
- 2:31we did a good job of fixing in the LSU
- 2:34game, uh, we reverted back to in this
- 2:36game and, uh, you know, ultimately led
- 2:39us to have a really slow start.
- 2:42Coach, I know you don't take any moral
- 2:44victories in this rivalry, but you guys
- 2:46got back in the game. I thought Overton
- 2:48was tremendous in the second half. Talk
- 2:49about how he played and what you'll need
- 2:51from him going forward.
- 2:53>> Yeah, I mean KO was you know, good
- 2:54offensively once again. Um so, you know,
- 2:58we're down 28 with 1455 left and um you
- 3:01know, they battled um but you know, we
- 3:04we can't wait to battle like that when
- 3:05we're down 28. You got you got to do
- 3:07that from the very tip and uh we didn't
- 3:09do that tonight. So, you know, need need
- 3:11KO um you know, to continue to shoot the
- 3:14ball like that. Uh he's playing with a
- 3:15lot of confidence offensively, you know,
- 3:18um but just need him to continue to do
- 3:19those things and, you know, be be one of
- 3:21our better defenders.
- 3:24>> See, what did you think about the effort
- 3:26and the intensity just in the first
- 3:27half? Obviously, you guys had in the
- 3:29second half. Did you just feel like it
- 3:30was lacking, you know, early on?
- 3:32>> I don't think it was lacking. I just
- 3:33think, you know, we were we were just a
- 3:35little too casual. Um, and those
- 3:38turnovers, you know, led to, you know,
- 3:40some some easy opportunities. Um, no, I
- 3:44think there was the effort was there. It
- 3:45was just the execution and that's
- 3:46something that, you know, we just we we
- 3:48struggle with a little bit this year.
- 3:50And, um, you know, we we we got to
- 3:52button that up. Um, because we, you
- 3:54know, it's it's win or go home at this
- 3:55point.
- 3:57>> Stephen, back here. What did you think
- 3:59of Keshan Hall defensively tonight?
- 4:02>> Uh, I would need to watch the film. Um,
- 4:08yeah, I mean, he had four defensive
- 4:09rebounds. Um, you know, there was he had
- 4:12a couple mistakes early where, uh, you
- 4:14know, he was loaded into the ball and
- 4:16lost his man on a back cut, but, you
- 4:18know, it wasn't just him. You know, it
- 4:21was our entire roster. You know, I told
- 4:23our guys like it wasn't one person that
- 4:24stuck out defensively that was
- 4:26struggling or on the rebounds. It was a
- 4:28collective effort. The only guy that
- 4:29really was really solid the entire time
- 4:31he was in there was Blake. you know,
- 4:32Blake's plus nine in five minutes and we
- 4:34got to keep him in the game there. Um,
- 4:36we can't pull him out in that situation
- 4:38because it it it had gone from like 28
- 4:40to 15 when Blake was in the game. We
- 4:42subbed him out and uh they pushed it
- 4:43back up to 21. So Blake Blake was a real
- 4:46spark and we're going to play him more
- 4:47in the SEC tournament because he just he
- 4:49helps us defensively and he gets us
- 4:50organized.
- 4:51>> Stephen, what's your message to the team
- 4:53in terms of the urgency that you'll need
- 4:54to have at Nashville?
- 4:56>> Yeah, I mean it's win or go home. Um,
- 4:58you know, I don't know what more urgency
- 5:00you need at this point. Um, you know, we
- 5:02we've put ourselves in a in a, you know,
- 5:05in obviously a difficult situation, but
- 5:07also, you know, a great situation. We
- 5:09play in the best league in college
- 5:10basketball. It's the the deepest league
- 5:12in college basketball. We have, you
- 5:14know, five of some of the best wins in
- 5:16in in the country. We have the best win
- 5:18in college basketball at Florida. Um,
- 5:21you know, if you look at our quality
- 5:23wins, you know, and you look at other
- 5:24teams in the bubble, I don't think those
- 5:26teams get those wins. I just I just
- 5:28don't. Um, so we've put ourselves in a
- 5:30position to be considered and you know I
- 5:32think our resume stands up against
- 5:34anybody's. Um, you know, we I'm not sure
- 5:37what the number would be tonight after
- 5:38the game. I don't know if anyone has Ken
- 5:40Palm pulled up, but I would imagine that
- 5:42we finished one or two in the country in
- 5:44strength of schedule overall, which is
- 5:46what the committee asked us to do. Um,
- 5:48and you know, we scheduled we played
- 5:50against some of the best teams in
- 5:51college basketball. you know, we went
- 5:53two and two against the uh conference
- 5:56champions of the SEC, the Big East, the
- 5:58Big 10, and the Big 12, and we didn't
- 6:00play any of those games at home. Um, so
- 6:03we have enough quality wins to be
- 6:05deserving to be in this tournament, but
- 6:07we understand that we got to go to
- 6:08Nashville and we got to make a run just
- 6:10so we don't have to be sweating it out
- 6:11on Sunday. So, the urgency is, you know,
- 6:13this this could be your last game if we
- 6:15don't find a way to win these, you know,
- 6:16these ones moving forward.
