- 0:05The public needs to know how pathetic his leadership was as a
- 0:10National Guardsman. On a 150 year old farm in
- 0:13Brewster, Tom Barron's hopes his Tell It Like It Is style will
- 0:16finally get the attention he believes it deserves in
- 0:19Minnesota's race for governor. In a way, he's back again to
- 0:22wage a public war of words against Tim Walls.
- 0:26He, he abandoned us, you know, I mean, what the hell kind of
- 0:29leader does that? I mean, he just as soon as the
- 0:31shots were fired in Iraq, he turned and ran the other way and
- 0:35hung his hat up and quit. We'll get to Barron's new
- 0:38message for voters in a moment, but this all starts years
- 0:41earlier when Barron says Walls misleading statements about his
- 0:45military service first led him to come forward in the fall of
- 0:482018. So you try to get this message
- 0:51out. The Minnesota's largest
- 0:52newspaper checks it out, says it's 100% true, but yet refuses
- 0:56to print. When I hung the phone up, I
- 0:58said, what the hell is this, North Korea?
- 1:00Back in 2005, a warning order went out to the First Battalion,
- 1:03125th Field Artillery to mobilize for a mission to Iraq.
- 1:07At the time, Walls served as the unit's highest non commissioned
- 1:10officer. But months later, Walls would
- 1:12retire from the Guard, avoid the deployment and run for Congress.
- 1:16Tom Barons was next in line for the position and was asked to
- 1:19take his place. I was like, well, for Pete's
- 1:22sake, if this guy quit and if I say I'm not going to do it, I
- 1:25mean, what the hell kind of leadership is that?
- 1:27If a company would say that we're going to deploy to Iraq or
- 1:31somewhere and you're going to be gone for whatever amount of
- 1:34time, and then a foreman just says, no, I'm not going.
- 1:38I mean, what does that say to the 500 people that work in that
- 1:40factory? Barron's would go on to serve in
- 1:42Iraq on a nearly two year deployment as a command Sergeant
- 1:45major. Allwell Walls began using that
- 1:48title as a congressman. Barron says he first contacted
- 1:52Walls with his concerns, sending these letters to Washington.
- 1:55They all went unanswered. But then we Fast forward to the
- 1:59election in 2018 in Minnesota, and you try at that time to get
- 2:04people's attention with this story and also with what seems
- 2:07to be a very misleading statement that he continued to
- 2:10make about his service. It kind of just sat there, you
- 2:13know, when he was a congressman, he, you know, he bragged that he
- 2:16was, he was a command Sergeant, retired command Sergeant major.
- 2:19I'm the highest ranking person ever in the in the House.
- 2:22And, you know, all this lie that he was telling the state of
- 2:26Minnesota came out after 2018, after this was exposed.
- 2:29And they said, well, he can say that he served as a command
- 2:32Sergeant major, but he can't say he's a retired one because he's
- 2:36not. And that's what he was saying
- 2:37and. He was saying that and there was
- 2:39lots of public, you know, lots of cards coming in the mail, you
- 2:42know, for him to be elected. They said right on.
- 2:45Or he's a retired command Sergeant major just Tooting his
- 2:47own horn, just hanging on the coat tails of people that
- 2:51actually are command Sergeant majors that went through all the
- 2:53process and put all the time in. A spokesperson for the Minnesota
- 2:57National Guard said Walls wasn't able to retire as a command
- 3:00Sergeant major since he failed to complete coursework and
- 3:03requirements related to the rank.
- 3:05Verified documents show the Army corrected his service record.
- 3:08Walls was reduced in rank to an E8 master Sergeant after
- 3:11retiring and his conditional promotion.
- 3:14Alpha News again asked Governor Walls if he's using the command
- 3:17Sergeant major rank on his campaign website for political
- 3:21gain this year. A spokesperson said this has
- 3:23been in the news before and pointed us to a past story where
- 3:26Walls said, quote, normally this type of partisan political
- 3:30attack only comes from one who's never worn a uniform.
- 3:33It's stolen valor is really what it is.
- 3:36I don't know of anybody else that's done what he's done, but
- 3:39we called it the Truth about Tim Walls. 2018 Barons gave the
- 3:43story the full court press. We retired command Sergeant
- 3:47majors of the Minnesota National Guard feel it is our duty and
- 3:50responsibility to bring forth the truth as we know it
- 3:53concerning his service record. I put together information on it
- 3:57and I sent it out to every single radio station and
- 4:01newspaper and TV station I put in the state.
- 4:04The bottom line in all of this is gut wrenching and sad to
- 4:07explain. When the nation called, he quit.
- 4:10Twin Cities TV stations and the Star Tribune were silent, even
- 4:14after Baron says the newspaper checked it all out.
- 4:17The Star Tribune endorsed Walls in 2018 for governor.
- 4:20I don't. Know.
- 4:22Quick between lockdowns, riots, unchecked crime and a charred
- 4:26police precinct, Barons felt he had no choice but again to come
- 4:29forward. Allowing that to be burned down
- 4:32was just like having the Alamo get burned down.
- 4:35It's like, no, you sit, you defend that to the last man.
- 4:38You know, if he would have went to Iraq, he'd still be hiding
- 4:41under his desk over there because that's just, you know,
- 4:43just the cowardice that I seen portrayed with him.
- 4:46So how about when he also comes out and he calls you guys 19
- 4:49year old cooks? I'd take any 19 year old cook
- 4:55before I'd go to war with him. I don't know how he could even
- 4:57utter such a statement. I mean, it's just, it's just
- 5:00absolutely sad. So this election year, it's all
- 5:03built up again to Barron's new grain bin message.
- 5:06He called Jacob Fry an abject failure.
- 5:09So I was like, you know, that's what he is.
- 5:12Walls is a traitor also made a return.
- 5:15And the last one I put together, he said it himself too as well.
- 5:18If they don't like my job, they can vote me out.
- 5:21So I wrote, we got vote him out. We need to vote him out.
