Transcript
- 0:03[SPEAKER_01]: Hello, hello, and welcome to another edition of the 9.0.0.0 podcast part of the fancited podcast network.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_01]: My name is Robert Morrison, a contributor at 9.0.0.0.0 and here with me, a member of the 40 point club as well.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I don't know what that means quite frankly, but here is Mr. Actress, Dividula Actress, has gone.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a honor to be a part of the 40 point, and I don't, I don't know what that means either, but I've never been one to not take a, not take an award, so what?
- 0:41[SPEAKER_01]: What it means I need to think about this ahead of time.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes these things pop in my head.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't, but there you go.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_01]: That's the learning, that's the thing that we've learned.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_01]: The is another loop on the roller coaster that has been the 40-anners season after that 3-0 start that loss-win loss-win loss-win thing is continues quite infatically this time.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_01]: They beat the Arizona Cardinals on the road 41 to 22 it is their highest scoring game of the season after.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: reaching that point previously in their last win, where they got into the 30s.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_01]: Ooh.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, trending upward, I think that means that by the last game of the season,
- 1:29[SPEAKER_01]: They'll be up into the 70s or something like that.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that's how it works, but we'll see how it goes.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: I think a fairly solid game overall from the team, it's not one that's going to blow you away in terms of some of the numbers are not terribly impressive, but there's some reasons behind that.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: I think to be fair, but it's just a weird game in a lot of ways
- 1:59[SPEAKER_01]: but but still a game that they needed to win and a game that they did win and I think it was nice for them to sort of like jump out ahead and then just kind of put the game away.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_02]: I mean like we'll get into this but just a game that like frankly they we were like so we obviously didn't do a recap but I think the Robert and I would have both said like they're better
- 2:28[SPEAKER_02]: Cardinals by far, especially with all the interests of Cardinals, and by God, they, those did not look like two teams that should be competing on the same field, which is outrageous because if you look at the stats, it's kind of like, yeah, like, that's a game that was like,
- 2:46[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I'll be frank, right, like it was a fun game to be a 49er fan.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_02]: That was a terrible game of football by and large.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_02]: I think there was a, that was one of the uglier games I've seen, especially if you were like an Arizona fan.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_02]: If you aren't Arizona fan, welcome and not really sure why you're listening to us, but we're glad to have you nonetheless.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_02]: But just so many things went wrong on their side, like it really felt like the nine-year sort of just like,
- 3:13[SPEAKER_02]: Chuck what was given to them in almost coasted to 40 points, just crazy to say right like it and truly felt like they didn't even play it all that well necessarily to get as many points as they did.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, very weird.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, and some of that is is.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I mean, obviously their first touchdown came one on one, one, one two yard offensive play which of course swings the offensive numbers in a different way right because it's just like because rather than because if you think about it like if they run a regular series there and they still score that same touchdown, that's probably like what 70 65 70 extra yards of offense that they didn't they didn't have.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_01]: because Skymore took it down to the two, so things like that like certainly swayed it and obviously the game script, which I'm sure will talk about the way that the game was playing out, which forced the cardinals to become really one-dimensional, really flip things around from their perspective.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's just kind of a weird, um,
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: It was kind of a weird situation, but like you said, it didn't feel like they ever really tried all that hard.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: I guess is the way, is that, I think that's what you mean, right?
- 4:34[SPEAKER_02]: I'll say they technically tried, but it didn't feel like, I think that's a good gloss on it.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_02]: It didn't feel like they, um,
- 4:48[SPEAKER_00]: Right, yeah, they didn't.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_02]: They answered exactly.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_02]: Like, like, you think 40 points, and I'm thinking, like, okay, like, you're telling me the offense was like firing and all cylinders.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that was playing for me.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_02]: And then I was like, no, not necessarily.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_02]: Like, they were good.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_02]: Don't get me wrong.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_02]: They were good.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_02]: But like, I don't even know if that's the best I've seen before he matters offense all year.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_02]: It looked great.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I mean, yeah, I think, again, I think some of it
- 5:19[SPEAKER_01]: they didn't have the ball and like in they didn't start a lot of drives in their own like deep in their own territory or anything like that because of
- 5:29[SPEAKER_01]: of, you know, turnovers, they had, you know, the, like we said, the punt, the kickoff return to start the game, Brad Robinson also had another kickoff return for 42 yards later in that game, so their combined average and kickoff returns was 70 yards per attempt, which is nuts.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_01]: Then we had to kick off two normal kickoff returns, because the,
- 5:52[SPEAKER_01]: the Cardinals basically had were on side kicking the rest of the game, which is kind of funny.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I mean, I think I know what you mean.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like you look at your like 40 points.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, they should have like, what 455 hundred total yards of total offense.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: But circumstances didn't lead to that.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_01]: And still it was like, you know, they got through it.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't always the prettiest, but it was mostly effective.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_01]: And they, you know, they got the job done in the end.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, like, well, I'm not complaining.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_02]: That was amazing.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_02]: I have no issues whatsoever with that game.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_02]: It's just, it was such a not, not so much sort of game in the way.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, I know, it's me.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_02]: Just, just weird.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the division, and there wasn't like a, oh, the Niners are like playing at this, oh, we basically expected it.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I think you could have thought that this game
- 6:49[SPEAKER_02]: It was a great game, you're a minus fan, with the most part.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_01]: Right, it very interesting because we did talk about the Rams game in the same way, where it's like, this is kind of the game we expected them to play.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, I don't think I can go quite that far.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_01]: Like the weirdness of the first game, the first time these two teams played, where it was like 16 to 15, like who, like that's weird, who would have expected that happen.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_01]: would what I've been completely shocked if this outcome had happened the first time to probably just given like the unshakiness of what was going on and we'll talk a little bit about some of the shakingness that so continues but but I think this feels a little true or to the to the gap between these two teams especially as currently constructed I think that's fair.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_02]: I would agree I think that way.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_02]: we continue to question and sort of try to figure out who are the 49ers this year, not a question with a very clear answer.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_02]: And I think games like this sort of add on to that like question mark of like, like, who are they?
- 8:03[SPEAKER_02]: Is this the type of team they are right or are they going to like,
- 8:06[SPEAKER_02]: being able to put up performances like this against teams like that.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_02]: And if that is true, I think we bump their, like their floor goes up certainly a lot more.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_02]: But like, I mean, you could always argue they're stealing this.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_02]: Like, it just, it was a level of like, dominance and comfortability and claim the game that I did not expect to see from San Francisco anymore this year.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: That was nice.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_02]: That was good.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_02]: It was a good.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_02]: It was a good thing.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, especially considering what their run looks like for the next three weeks, where you're like, okay, I mean, I think there's I don't know that the cardinals of the worst team they're going to play over the next over the next three weeks, I think that's the Titans pretty clearly, but
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: in the browns, at least in half, half of the browns team, but yeah, this is definitely a do what you need to do against teams that you know you should be kind of situation and I'm sure that something will be talking about for the rest of for the next month or so.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so well, unfortunately it wouldn't be a
- 9:11[SPEAKER_01]: of a free cat podcast without an injury update.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: So three guys that are in that were noted after the game by Kyle Shanahan, Robert Beal in the concussion protocol.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_01]: Real bummer for him because he.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: was like I'm struggling to remember when he was in the game that he got in the cust.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's like that kind of thing.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, oh, so he continues to struggle to figure out a way to stay on the field for various reasons.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_01]: Tatum Bethune, a high ankle sprain, expected to miss several weeks.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_01]: As we were talking about before, the expectation doesn't appear to be that he's going to go on injured reserve because they have two more games and then the
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: feasibly only missed three games while still being out for four weeks, depending on how things kind of shape out.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll see how that goes.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_01]: The the the linebacker situation is just really becoming it's funny because like I think if we had I think there would have been a case to be made that linebacker was one of their like most solid groups heading into the in the in the in the season and now they're just like
- 10:22[SPEAKER_01]: No Fred Warner, Tade of the Thunes out for a long time.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_01]: So they're pretty much down to D-Winters, Curtis Robinson, who played in the Thunes' stead.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_01]: On Sunday, Nick Martin, who finally got some game action.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure we'll talk about him a little bit.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_01]: And then Luke Gifford is the next line backer.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_01]: And that's pretty much it.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_01]: And then they have some options on the practice squad.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure they can go out and grab some guys,
- 10:51[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to be real thin at LiveMaker for at least probably a month or so.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: And then the other one, of course, is Eddie Peniero, he's got a right hamstring injury, the right leg would be the one that he kicks with, so that's not ideal.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: He said he's weak to weak, but who knows what that means.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_01]: It does mean that the 49ers did bring in some kickers to try out, according to Matt Barrows
- 11:20[SPEAKER_01]: Andres Carlson and John Parker Romo, two of those guys I've never heard of.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_01]: Andres Carlson was with them in recent years does that sound, that sounds familiar, right?
- 11:34[SPEAKER_02]: It does sound, if I remember correctly, I think he was there for a week.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_01]: Was he the guy who came when Moody got hurt and then he got hurt?
- 11:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's right.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_01]: When Moody got hurt last year
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: almost the exact same thing happened in where he got runovers on something like that.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_01]: Oh boy.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so apparently that nobody got impressive enough because they're going to have more more trials tomorrow, which is Wednesday as you're listening to this.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what, I mean, this is a weird situation because you're probably
- 12:15[SPEAKER_01]: probably putting a guy on the practice squad, right?
- 12:18[SPEAKER_01]: And then elevating him for as many games as you can.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_01]: And just hoping that Pinearo gets better, this is quickly as possible.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's probably the play here.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_01]: They did bring back Adrian Martinez who they released earlier this week.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_01]: He's not back to the practice squad, and I'm not really sure what that was all about.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway,
- 12:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the kicker thing is unfortunate because they just got to a point where they're like, okay, we feel good about this guy.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_01]: And then he gets hurt and yeah, I mean, we can't have nice things, this is that's what this is.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_02]: So that's definitely true.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, if there's anything this should have been an understanding, so we can't have nice things on top of that.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_02]: I will say, I think that like the Asian Martinez thing makes sense.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_02]: Because now the Brock's play, you don't need a month of roster because he can be in a very emergency third, but like it is, it is unfortunate that they fixed the kicking situation and now have to refix it.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, yep.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_02]: Incredibly.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I see two mixed as reports kind of weird one block one just a miss, but yeah, I think this I'm I'm guessing the second one might have been impact like I think he heard himself sometime during the game right so I'm wondering if if there was some lingering effect of that but I don't know I mean we don't know for sure.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_02]: I mean just like but otherwise lights out as one of them games just just an absolute like critical element of this team.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_02]: And they like it's just the story of their season right like who knows how, how it's going to play out for them, but They got it looks it's next me enough it's frustrating and I'll just have to take it as it goes, but I agree, it definitely has to be a practice cloud situation.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they don't really have any space to be letting anybody else go.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_01]: They need those other, those other guys to fill spots.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_01]: We should mention, they did add, and it kind of a strange move in hindsight, I guess, even stranger.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_01]: They did add Cleal and Farrell, the active roster before the game started, so they elevated
- 14:41[SPEAKER_01]: added feral to the active roster, and then proceeded to make feral inactive for the game, and Bill didn't last more than like a quarter and a half before he was out, so that's unfortunate.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_01]: I think an overall good move that like this team needs as many defense of Lyman and apparently Lyme back as he can get, so yeah, any other specific things that we needed to get into before we dive into the game specifically,
- 15:11[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think so.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_02]: I think that like the injury sucked.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_02]: Linebacking is going to be a problem.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_02]: There's a part of this team that's not a problem anymore.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's not true.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_02]: That's not true.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_02]: Secondary selfie.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_02]: Secondary selfie.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_01]: And we got our quarterback back.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_01]: And the wider receiver room is actually shaped.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the on the defense is I think is what you mean.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_01]: Like the defense and is generally falling apart.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_02]: That is true.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_02]: And we will talk about sort of like what that means is to go for.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_02]: like it.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_02]: Nothing new for them to figure it out.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see if they how they sort of piece things together.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_01]: Well, with that in mind, let's go ahead and get into our one-up and one-down section for this game and these as often the case are brought to you by our friends

- 16:23[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll send it over to Oksha as to tell us about his experience winning 5,000 times his cash, right?
- 16:29[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I wish Robert, I wish, but, um, Alas, not, not my luck so far.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_02]: However, I still love underdog.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I'm not very good at daily fantasy.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_02]: I like, unfortunately, I'm not really good at making picks.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_02]: It's much like wish I was.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_02]: I'm also not very good at fantasy football.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_02]: So, I realized my expertise extends only to team-wide and not like player-wide, but I still love underdog.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_02]: It's super easy to use.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_02]: You open up the app and it's right there.

- 17:09[SPEAKER_02]: I would be especially if you don't have a rooting interest,
- 17:12[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if anyone wanted to wake up for the commander's dolphins in Madrid, but let's say you did.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, you wanted to hear his new nickname, wasn't it?
- 17:24[SPEAKER_02]: No, I think it was Madrid.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_00]: One of those, too.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_02]: In any case, like, you're waking up early in the morning, you're watching some football.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_02]: You're like, I don't even know if I care about this game and you get to underdog, but now you can care about the game and it's super fun and intuitive to use.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_02]: You can download the app today, sign up what promo code knows, noise to score $100 in bonus entries when you play your first $5.

- 17:52[SPEAKER_02]: And Nebraska and 19 years old are in Colorado for some games, 21 years old, they're in Arizona, Massachusetts, and Virginia.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_02]: and present in the state we're under dark fantasy, operates terms applies, he asks us to undersidepancy.com slash web slash plane and get terms on this score, D.O.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_02]: Fest on discord.html for details, often our valid in Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, can serve with your play called 100 Gambler visit www.nspgammling.org and New York called the 24-Sund hope line of when it's on seven eight hope and wire takes help and wire for six seven three six nine.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_01]: Well done, for the record you were right, it was my dread.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_01]: All right, well I want you to tell us about your up for the game as we get into it.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to say something.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_02]: I never thought I'd say in a million years.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_02]: Truly, truly I never thought I would say this.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_01]: I'm excited.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_02]: But my up for the game is special teams.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_02]: I thought the 49ers special teams was really good.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_02]: Like, phenomenally good.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_02]: There was one return that Greg Dorch sort of broke.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_02]: That's a little annoying.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_02]: Don't love that.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_02]: But otherwise, I mean, like 98 yards, almost a touchdown, 43 yards from Brian Robinson, great returns all around.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_02]: You know the kicking game the extra points were a little on and off but the fuel goals were all good They managed to take care of business there.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_02]: Alfred Collins almost blocked I believe a like a 30-yard fuel goal attempt.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_02]: It was just like Like they had to power through them.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_02]: That was really like All the little things That you need to do on special teams when you're not in a week team and I don't think like
- 19:30[SPEAKER_02]: With all the injuries they have, I don't think the 49ers can be considered an elite team.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe they can't be.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, your mileage can vary.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_02]: But at any case, they're not a team that's like more talented than every team they'll face.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_02]: This is how you get to that level, right?
- 19:44[SPEAKER_02]: This is how you win those games.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_02]: Is you get those like splash plays, those big plays, those like dual position altering plays.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_02]: You get those extra yards.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_02]: You take away those extra yards.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_02]: And they did it perfectly.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_02]: Like this is the formula for how the 40 manners will make like a deep playoff run.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_02]: If they get into the playoffs, it will be in large part because special teams adds that little oath.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_02]: They add that extra inch.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_02]: And we haven't seen that special teams do that very often for the 40 manners, especially in recent years.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_02]: But...
- 20:18[SPEAKER_02]: I thought they played phenomenal in it.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_02]: It was fun to watch.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_02]: I enjoyed watching 40 men or special teams on Sunday, Robert.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't know if there's a time in my life that's ever been true, but it was true on Sunday.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_01]: That's that's truly incredible like news alert.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_01]: They meet alert the media.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_01]: I guess.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, hard.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_01]: And I mentioned a couple of the numbers earlier and you sort of reiterated them.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_01]: But averaging 70 yards per kickoff for turn is generally going to be putting yourself in a good in good positions to win
- 20:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there were only two of them, again, which indicates just like how little the cardinals were able to do from a scoring perspective and to be fair, the one-point return was not massive.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_01]: One-point return for nine yards, but as you said, Panero, perfect, and it's kicking, the extra points to get the one blocked, which I don't know something about his, I don't know what he's, because we've seen that a little bit from him.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_01]: And like I said, I think the second one was might have been he was there was some effects of something I don't know.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_01]: But one of my favorite, one of my favorite moments of the game was when it was after the Malak Mustafa interception where he almost killed or not a green.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_01]: And I thought to myself, if they do anything with this, it will be pretty impressive.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_01]: Because it was pretty deep.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_01]: Like it was basically an arm punt from
- 21:46[SPEAKER_01]: from Jakobi, reset, right, and Mustafa went down so he couldn't move the ball and I'm like, okay, well, they're going to, first of all, expect the Cheney had to kind of go real conservative on it and not do anything, but he was feeling his bag on Sunday, I guess, and went after it, and they gotten to feel into kind of field goal, Ish Range.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_01]: It was 662, was at the first attempt.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_02]: or 58 something something it was really far.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was 62.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_01]: I think 58 was the one that he made that he made against the Rams earlier this year.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_01]: That was his career.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_01]: It was really far.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, whatever it was, and he missed it.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_01]: But the funniest part was, I don't know if you saw this in our, I was chiming in in our nine or no is slack during the
- 22:39[SPEAKER_01]: And I thought that the Cardinals had done something really stupid earlier to give up a play or something like that and then I had to reiterate that, oh no, now they did a dumb thing because they committed a penalty on a 60 plus yard or whatever it was.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_01]: And they, like, they even expected it, right?
- 23:09[SPEAKER_01]: Cause they put a door to back to get the kick.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm just like, shouldn't you be telling your guys just kind of let it go there?
- 23:18[SPEAKER_01]: Like, don't, and particularly don't attempt to launch yourself illegally off a player and give us 15 yards and put it into a makeable field going range.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, I thought, like, I thought it was really cool from the special teams to like show up and if they can show up,
- 23:34[SPEAKER_01]: Then I think they're going to be able to actually like if they can make a difference in the game Like we've talked about it before like like last year's team we just kept saying like they just got to stop getting in in the way And they couldn't in this year I think there's somewhere in between like they need to they've been able to like stay out of the way For the most part since since Jake booty left and then occasionally they can do a little bit extra And that's what this other team like this needs at this point
- 24:05[SPEAKER_02]: It's totally agree, 100% agree, like it was encouraging to see and if they can keep on building on it, I would be really excited.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, for me, yeah, especially seems as cool, but I have to give a shout out to a couple of guys.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_01]: First of all, Brock Party and his return.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_01]: I thought he looked pretty good.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't have terribly large amount of opportunities.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_01]: through the ball 26 times, 19 to 26, 200 yards, three touchdowns.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_01]: But I thought for the most part, look pretty comfortable.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_01]: Didn't look like there was any rest there.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_01]: There was one throw on the second time, the first, like one of those, one of those, I think it was in that first drive, where they actually threw the ball.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_01]: And like one of his first throws and he kind of like,
- 24:55[SPEAKER_01]: sailed it over McAfrey's head to the sideline, and I got, and I got a little nervous for a second, but then I was like, wait a minute, I think that's, he was trying to do that, because nobody was open, and that's fine.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_01]: So I think he looked pretty good, I think.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_01]: game situation dictated that he just they just didn't run a lot of plays and that's fine.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_01]: Speaking of McCaffrey pretty good day for him.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_01]: A 13 carries 81 yards on the ground that's 6.2 yards per carry.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_01]: Two touchdowns.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_01]: Also five catches for 40 yards and additional touchdown as he has another game.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yet another game where he
- 25:32[SPEAKER_01]: Has a rushing and receiving touchdown in the same game.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, of course three total and then
- 25:39[SPEAKER_01]: Shoutout to George Gale, six catches, 67 yards, two touchdowns, officially getting him into the 50 touchdown reception club, which is a very small group for this organization.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_01]: And he becomes the third player in the history of the 49ers to have both 500 plus receptions and 50 plus receiving touchdowns.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_01]: No points absolutely zero points to anyone for
- 26:09[SPEAKER_01]: because that just means, well, you have been a fan of this team for longer than eight seconds.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_01]: Um, Oxyaz, would you care to name them for us, even though you get enough points?
- 26:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, um, obviously the first one would be a quen bolder than that.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_02]: Nothing gets a quen bolder than that.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_01]: I love that quen bolder than that.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't play with the team long enough to be fair.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, like,
- 26:37[SPEAKER_02]: The arguably the two best receivers in NFL history in Jerry Rice and Trillowords.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_01]: There you go.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_01]: I think there were a couple that were close.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_01]: Gene Washington.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_01]: I think is the only other guy in the, and sorry, and Vernon Davis, the only other guys in the 50 touchdown reception club, but they were both under 500 receptions.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's that's it.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_01]: That's the whole in the the long story history of this organization.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_01]: that was it.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_01]: I also wanted to shout out John Jennings as well who kind of looked a little bit back to his old self again on Sunday, not like the guy who had like 11 multi double digit catch games last season, but you know 4 catches 54 yards looked more comfortable out there
- 27:34[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's my main takeaway.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_01]: The offense look good.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_01]: They scored a lot of points.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, it looked good.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_02]: It looked like they were firing and also, like all the cylinders you want them to be, which I think is super important.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_02]: Just like in general, I think they looked competent.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_02]: Like functionalism.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_02]: In all phases of like offense,
- 28:05[SPEAKER_02]: Is something as always gone wrong?
- 28:08[SPEAKER_02]: Either like the running game is looked bad or the options running game is look good.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_02]: The passing game is look bad or there's a lot of turnovers, but they just look like a good football team on offense.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_02]: That's great.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_02]: More of that, I would love for them to look more like a good football team on offense.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_01]: that that's an observation just for the record.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_01]: Um, if you take away, uh, Brock parties, ill-advised scramble attempt and Mac Jones is three meal downs.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, they carried the ball 21 times for hold on.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_01]: I had it.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_01]: I just had it just a minute ago.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_01]: Um, it was 21 times for 105 yards, which is five yards per carry.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, so that's pretty good.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_02]: That is pretty bad, you'll take that every day, I thought, like, and we got, so we should, like say, the Cardinals were not exactly like stacked with world beaters, no, but like still.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_02]: The nine or so points of awful defenses and not looked as good as they did.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, for sure.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_01]: Um, without a doubt.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I feel like we should also, because I don't know if this is going to come up, like we should talk about the fact that they had three turnovers that they caused, which is like that is true.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_01]: It feels unprecedented for this team this year.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_02]: That's a great.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I so it kind of goes to like,
- 29:40[SPEAKER_02]: I always, in a way, I kind of forgot about it, but you're right, like it is kind of absurd and in a great way, of course, that they, um, they were, like, really good sort of, like, take advantage of the situation plays obviously the strip at the goal line, except for playing on trying to remember.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_02]: Justin Stout.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_02]: Justin Stout, who, like, I think has come on nearly, like, we're, I forget that he's a rookie out there now.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_02]: Which I think is basically perfect for a like a nickel corner that you don't really he plays like a veteran and there's so much more upside for him I think just like
- 30:19[SPEAKER_02]: down in the middle of the north, great intersection phenomenal return.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's just he covered 111 yards.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I was so disappointed that he got tackled.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, after you've run that far, man, you can't get tacked.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_02]: You got to school.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_02]: I thought for sure, after he made like his second move, I was like, I, he's going to touch down.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_02]: I think he messed up.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_02]: Like, it's easy for us to, it's easy for me to say, like not being the one running, like a billion,
- 30:49[SPEAKER_02]: like miles, but like I thought he made like one run cut and then that was it.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the way it goes.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_01]: That's not that's not a stop.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_02]: And then like Malpo stuff a great like read on the ball aggressive.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_02]: Just I think it was all the different things that we've been missing from the secondary show that that was really good to see.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, if you could just please not try to kill your own teammate next time Malik we'd appreciate it.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_02]: But if you're going to, you might as well come up with that's that's true.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_01]: If you had heard him, luckily, I think we're not a green is okay, but like it I was like, a gosh.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_01]: And that was the first of two times that one of one 49er player tried to kill another because Luke Feral tried to absolutely demolish Luke Gifford later on special teams trying to make a reasonable tackle and the guy went down already and just went straight through his own teammate luckily he Gifford was okay but that would not have been a good thing.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, another linebacker.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_01]: I was really surprised when he came back in the game most I keep for sure has a concussion But he was fine.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_01]: So there we go.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so let's go ahead and move into the down section because That the weird it was a weird weird weird game like we said so there's some some things we need to talk about here.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure Yeah, so I mean The man who's gotten lucky
- 32:17[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, they got lucky.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_02]: Like, 17 penalties, that's absurd.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_02]: Seven for 130 yards, like they lost time possession.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_02]: Like the Cardinals offense made a billion mistakes.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_02]: And the Niners as good teams ought to do to get an engine those mistakes.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not gonna fault the 49ers for the game, playing out that way, that's how it works.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_02]: But like,
- 32:45[SPEAKER_02]: Jacobie Bersett, Robert, set a record.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_02]: And a game big lost by 19 points.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_02]: He set a record for the most completions in NFL history in a game.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's like clearly, and it did it fairly efficiently, too.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_01]: He only threw 10 accomplices.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_02]: And like, your his yards per completion,
- 33:09[SPEAKER_02]: are like roughly around 10.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_01]: So it's not even, it's not even that one.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_01]: It was eight yards per, per, complete, per.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_01]: His average was eight, seven point nine.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_02]: I, true, I think that like, that's still, it doesn't, that doesn't read like Dick and Doug to me anyway, 452 yards, 47 completions.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_02]: Like he was ripping it down the field.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_02]: They got yards.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they got lost here.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_02]: They couldn't run the ball the same, they're white, but they got yards.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that like, that sort of like,
- 33:48[SPEAKER_02]: That's not great, the carnals were missing like half their receivers.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_02]: Michael Wilson.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_02]: I think has the most receiving yards in a game of any receiver this season.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_02]: But a part of it is situational, right?
- 34:01[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_02]: You know, how the 49th reproaching it.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_02]: But it sort of underscores when it is the teams like in my opinion, fatal flaw right now, which has nothing like it's not the teams fault.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_02]: It's just a reality of how the season is played out.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_02]: They don't have a password.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_02]: Like, there's nothing that's stopped the carnivals from dropping back, passing, throwing it down the field, getting these land.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_02]: Complessions, because the 49ers couldn't affect Jacobi, present that way.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_02]: So they have to bank on getting turnovers, getting like a rare completion, all the penalties by killing drives, because they weren't able to make that fake play with their pass rush.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that's a big sort of issue
- 34:48[SPEAKER_02]: for this team, like, the defense play very fine.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_02]: Turn over to side.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_02]: That was really good.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_02]: It was kind of good day for the defense.
- 35:01[SPEAKER_02]: It was a fight for the team.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that's like, to be expected for now on, given who like is able to play, but still like, if we
- 35:15[SPEAKER_02]: I think it has to be sort of the defense and the past version particular.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_01]: So just just because I was going to talk about the same thing basically.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_01]: So I just pulled up his assets passing chart from next gen sets, you know, where they put the little dots out there.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_01]: So only 13 of his attempts were for longer than 10 yards.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_01]: downfield.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_01]: So there's a little dinky dunky action going on.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sure why.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I get I guess probably because they don't have any receivers, right?
- 35:49[SPEAKER_01]: Because Michael Wilson is if my like no no disrespect to Michael Wilson, but if Michael Wilson is here, number one, uh,
- 35:57[SPEAKER_01]: wide receiver target, that's probably not, not a great situation.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, and just look at the numbers like it's pretty, it was pretty heavily slanted.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he completed 47 passes and Michael Wilson and Tramick Brad caught 25 of them.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_01]: So that gives you some indication.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_01]: But I think it was a little bit more Dink and Dunk than you remember, but now there were some sometimes.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_01]: Now, all of the ones that were greater than
- 36:22[SPEAKER_01]: than 10, let's say 1, 2, 3, 4 of them were, five of them were further than 20 yards downfield.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_01]: So there was a lot inside the line of skirmish and less than 10 yards, a handful between 10 and 20 and then five deeper down the field, including one, 30,
- 36:47[SPEAKER_01]: 30 plus yards down the field too so yeah it wasn't it wasn't great and like you said a lot of that comes down to just like they can't they can't rush the passer um says all this this statistic today they have 13 pressures and zero sacks on 57 drop-backs
- 37:05[SPEAKER_01]: which would be a very low pressure rate.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't take a racket scientist to see that.
- 37:15[SPEAKER_01]: You just watch the game and you're like, oh, he's just kind of standing back there.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_01]: Just slinging the ball around.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_01]: Fortunately, they kept shooting themselves in the foot by either turning the ball over.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_01]: They marched down the field and then they turned the ball over.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_01]: They marched down the field.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_01]: they'd get into bad situation where they couldn't end up scoring and then they had to punt the ball.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_01]: All in all, kind of a very weird, I mean, we talked about this at the beginning, right?
- 37:42[SPEAKER_01]: If you looked at the, if I said, here's the score, here are the total offence, here are the offence of totals for the team, which one do you think is the team did which thing?
- 37:55[SPEAKER_01]: you'd be like, oh well the 49ers got the 500 plus yards or nearly 500 yards and the Cardinals got.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_01]: It was like little less than 300.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_01]: That obviously isn't the case.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_01]: weird weird weird game like yeah yeah and again some of it is is the cardinals were down early um what was it was how what was the uh there was nothing it was 13 nothing they were down yeah they were down 13 nothing uh it was you know 13 7 at the end of the first first quarter when they missed their
- 38:36[SPEAKER_01]: that missed that first field goal.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_01]: They were down 25 to 10 by half time.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_01]: So like the situation just dictated.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, a lot of it was, they had to throw the ball on the first hat or in the second half to keep up, which they never really did.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_01]: But then, as you said, it was also pretty clear that they just couldn't run the ball.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_01]: And they gave up on that pretty quickly.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_01]: They only ran the ball 14 times.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, this was clearly a team that was like we're just kind of like they came into this and said we're going to throw the ball as much as the cannon boy how to did they.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, I mean, it's weird, it's also just like I think the thing we're trying to say here is like so much of it is like.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_02]: game dependent and because of that, it's hard to sort of like be like, oh, the 49ers defense sucked, but like, I think the cardinals knew what they could attack and they attacked it.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_02]: And if it wasn't for the fact that they had 17 penalties, three turnovers, couldn't stop the 49ers.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_02]: Couldn't have been a game.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_02]: But obviously, those are all like those are huge parts of the game,
- 39:59[SPEAKER_02]: They attack the weakness they knew was there.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that's just reaffirms what we thought we knew about the 49ers.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_02]: Like this is gonna be an issue for the rest of the year.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_02]: This is gonna be the way the games go in it from now on.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_02]: Like it's gonna be a lot of like high scoring.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_02]: The offense needs to outpace whatever it is the other team is doing.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's to be fair.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_01]: We've been saying this all year.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like we said this before, the season started.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_01]: We were like, this defense is like, think about this.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_01]: If we just put Fred Warner and Nick goes back into this team, it's still not.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_02]: any better than like a middle of the pack defense right like I don't so I don't think so and the reason is I really do think those guys like I think Nick Bosa just gets the password to my middle of the pack.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_02]: But then like Fred, Fred Warner gets the line back until read.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_02]: And I think if you add those two things together, you just remove so many of the easy yards that teams are able to get and I think that would change the defense so much, but I agree with the general sentiment, right, that like yeah, like we were saying, like this off the offense was going to be better than the defense and the defense had to grow into it, the defense can't grow into it anymore.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_02]: There's like everyone's either hurt or still young everyone's hurt or as young it is now forced to play more than they should be so they don't have opportunities to sort of like take advantage of like advantageous reps so like there's no like the growth factors are not really going to be there anymore so the offense really has there's no like rounding out of this to you.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_02]: I think we were optimistic that that would happen, like this team would sort of come into shape around this time, but the defense coming to form.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_02]: And it's not happening, the defense is not going to come into form, per se, about being into this top level unit.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be like this now.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_02]: And there's really no hope of changing in my opinion.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_02]: If you want to improve, it's going to come from the office, like a big big thing.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so really exactly what we thought was going to happen, but just in a different way.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_01]: Like I don't think anything we would have expected this level of like attrition, injury wise.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and and I think if you had told us that, we would have been like, oh, so they're they're like,
- 42:39[SPEAKER_01]: like 3 and 7 through 10 weeks, right?
- 42:42[SPEAKER_01]: Or 3 and 3 and 8 through 11 games or something like that, right?
- 42:47[SPEAKER_01]: Because that feels like that would have been right, but they're not.
- 42:50[SPEAKER_01]: So, which is a great credit to them.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I mean, absolutely, this offense is going to have to...
- 42:56[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they were scoring like 22, 23 point clip before this.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_01]: And that includes the 30 point game that they put up against Giants.
- 43:06[SPEAKER_01]: But I think that's going to have to be the norm from here on out.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_01]: Like the panther, the panthers, who they play on Monday are a frisky team.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think they're particularly good, and their defense has a lot of problems too.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_01]: But they're going to put it a fight, I think.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_01]: And they're just going to probably have to outscore and the browns are going to pose their own problems, which we'll talk about then.
- 43:35[SPEAKER_01]: But really it's once they get past this run of the panthers, the browns and the titans when they get into that last run, the cults, the bears and Seattle.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_01]: That's going to be the real test.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_01]: Like Kim this offense, put up 30 plus points every week.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_01]: Like because they think they're going to have to do it from here on out if they want a chance to like.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_01]: If they want to put themselves in the playoffs and then any chance to make some noise when they get there.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_02]: I, I totally, I mean, like, I think the difference between what we expected and what is like turned out to be the case is that like the baseline expectation for the defense is that like you're saying they're going to like give up like so.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, if you get to assume they're yeah, you're going to have to assume the defense is given up three touchdowns at least right.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_02]: like sort of guesstimate, I think like I would say like in a field goal, like 24, you're like based on target is that you have to score more than 24.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_02]: That's hard, like this is not easy, and but they have to do it and can they?
- 44:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_02]: They should be the offense is it minus like Brandon I you and if he ever comes back and sort of finishes his recovery, the offense is what like it's supposed to be.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that like.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_02]: You expected this off, it's just, it's a high lofty bar to sort of set as a baseline, like hey, you guys score like 30 points.
- 45:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_02]: Like can they, obviously, it scored 44, but will they, like will they every, like, it's a lot, that's a lot, but that's what it takes.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_02]: And I mean, like, they can do it.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_02]: They would be some 20, 23 type offense, but they can do it.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, eventually like they get maybe I comes back, who knows that's a whole other question about what's going on there and no idea.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_01]: And then Ricky Pierce Hall, who our colleague over at nine or no is John Porter has a good article about the impact that he had on the game.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_01]: on Sunday, even though he only caught one pass for zero yards, but he's not going to catch one pass for zero yards for the rest of the season.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_01]: He's got to get his legs back under him, but I mean, it was pretty clear to kind of watch in the game that Cardinals were really paying attention to him, which opened up everything else for the rest of the, you know, I don't think Kittle and Jennings and McAfrey are as effective if they're not having to pay attention to him.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_01]: That's essentially the argument that the John's making and I think that's a smart one.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_01]: There's still ways to improve this offense, which is good to hear, but it's gonna have to be the thing that carries this team from here and out.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yep, and we will see when they start getting pushed by defense is better than the cardinals, whether or not they can stand up to that, because they don't have that buffer.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_02]: Like they had against Seattle to start the year, right?
- 46:52[SPEAKER_02]: Like the offense played fine, but not me, but they had the protection of a defense like figuring it out.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_02]: And that's just not like going to be the case for them.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_01]: Right, yep, well said, I have someone to to make one other down for the game.
- 47:12[SPEAKER_01]: So I just like, Trahmic Brad was annoying me once on day.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_01]: like the whole thing with her out of green where he got penalized like that like that will forever make me angry the whole like only the retaliator gets penalized thing I'm just like that's that's very frustrating to me all the time almost like all the time I don't care what side of it is because I feel like this is the only sport where that happens I feel like the other major sports like if there's a fight or something going on like
- 47:45[SPEAKER_01]: two penalties, like everybody gets penalty or if it's soccer, you know, you both get cards, like that's just the way it's.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_01]: I think it would be very easy for them to be like, because they have an eye in the sky, right, like a referee who's watching or whatever have a guy sitting up there, it'd be like, okay,
- 47:59[SPEAKER_01]: You penalize that guy, but that guy was doing something and he started it so you should get him both.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what that had that works, but he was just being kind of annoying to me.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_01]: And then he had that flop later in the game.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's just a good player, but he was annoying me.
- 48:15[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe that's just me.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I think he's one of those guys who like, if he was on your team, you'd be like, ah, yes, yeah, he's not.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_02]: So I will say them, I think one of the things that's frustrating about like the 49ers season and about George Kittle being hurt.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_02]: So there's a whole lot.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_02]: Like, there's a lot of comparisons I think made with tight ends in George Kittle.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_02]: And that's what, like, like, you know,
- 48:44[SPEAKER_02]: George Kahlo is George Kahlo.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_02]: Like, he's, he's, he's the best tie-in in the NFL.
- 48:49[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that can be interesting sometimes.
- 48:50[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, you sort of feel like there's like a false equivalency being made.
- 48:56[SPEAKER_02]: You just in general about like these two, like in general, I think oftentimes the nanners are sort of like depicted as being like on the same level as whatever tea they're playing against.
- 49:09[SPEAKER_02]: for even if that's like, just not true.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_02]: So the anyway, just notice that happening a couple of times.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_02]: The penalty thing, that's tough.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_02]: I thought, like, I agree with you and so far as I think one year sort of like, it's a retaliation, like both parties should be penalized, but I actually thought winner of Green just like,
- 49:39[SPEAKER_02]: It happened.
- 49:40[SPEAKER_02]: It sucks.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_02]: There's no fun.
- 49:42[SPEAKER_02]: But then like it stopped.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_02]: And then he like kept it going.
- 49:46[SPEAKER_02]: I like I thought like the penalty was the right call.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_02]: And I think.
- 49:51[SPEAKER_02]: The Niners reaction to it was exactly right.
- 49:55[SPEAKER_02]: But it was egregious.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_02]: It was something that you cannot do.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_02]: The whole point of this team.
- 50:01[SPEAKER_02]: This team.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_02]: Look, I think I can like be self aware enough to say the 49ers are like annoying.
- 50:07[SPEAKER_02]: There's an annoying football show like they like they push opponents.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_02]: They do a lot of antics.
- 50:15[SPEAKER_02]: They push you to your to the edge.
- 50:17[SPEAKER_02]: Joanne Jennings blocks everyone through to the whistle tells me can any more like this is what they do and that's good.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_02]: That's what you do in football right you push exactly to the line because that's how you win games.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_02]: You don't win games by being like oh like
- 50:33[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to like give it my all you have to like give that push, but I think because of that you know, when you cross that line you lose sort of discipline and I thought the Niners reaction, right?
- 51:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the video, I don't know if you saw the video, like, I did.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_01]: So I was like, no, we're not out of no.
- 51:07[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, he's just like screaming, like, stop.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_01]: And to be, for the record, I agree, like he has to, like, he can't, he just can't react to that, especially under that circumstance.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_01]: I think they were up, like, 15 points at that point or maybe more.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_01]: So you just kind of got to let it go, just be like, you know, points of scoreboard and be like, get out of here, buddy.
- 51:30[SPEAKER_01]: But, but also, like, it was pretty clear that, like, McBride knew what he was doing, and I think that's probably an accurate statement.
- 51:38[SPEAKER_01]: So, who knows?
- 51:40[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, that's neither here nor there.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_01]: I just needed it.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_01]: I sometimes you just gotta get these things out.
- 51:45[SPEAKER_01]: Actually, you just gotta talk about them.
- 51:48[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, all right.
- 51:50[SPEAKER_01]: So, anything else that we need to talk about before we write this up?
- 52:00[SPEAKER_02]: Great division win, which is important, kind of like glossed over the fact that the matters are now what only one loss in the division.
- 52:08[SPEAKER_02]: That's a big deal.
- 52:09[SPEAKER_02]: That's going to matter for them, like when tiebreakers sort of come into place, if they get to that point.
- 52:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 52:15[SPEAKER_02]: That's, that's a really, that's a, it's an, it was an important game that they won.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_02]: They won it and they won it in such a way you're just like, oh, yeah, they won, but like that was a, that was a big deal for them to win that game.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 52:31[SPEAKER_01]: And I think they're what's seven and two, like in the conference, too, um, in really, like if you look at the rest of their schedule, um, as we've talked about before, they kind of have this, I mean, the Panthers are a potential team that they might have to stay off, but other than that, it's really just like the Bears, um, that I think are going to be, and you know, who's not what's going to happen with Seattle, but like to me, it seems like,
- 52:59[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, you want to win all your conference games, so you need to be at the Panthers, and you need to be at the Bears, and you need to beat Seattle, because that's the NFC games, and that would also give you a five-and-one record in the vision.
- 53:12[SPEAKER_01]: Really, just taking care of any potential...
- 53:16[SPEAKER_01]: type breaker situations that can come up because you know you're five in one of the divisions that means if you've happened to get to the same record is the Rams then maybe you can win that type breaker with that comp with that division record.
- 53:29[SPEAKER_01]: You know if it comes down to are you the six or seven seed or whatever.
- 53:34[SPEAKER_01]: Or can you get in at all like that conference record, no matter if it is in fact the bears who are actually in first place In that division right now, so not really actually the problem, which is hilarious Like winning that game could make it big difference in terms of like seeding and and whether or not you get in at all So keep winning those games and really just like keep winning all the games I think that's that's the lesson always win all the games.
- 53:59[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, Shots breaking news
- 54:02[SPEAKER_02]: Definitely.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, Robert, I think I think you closest out perfectly there.
- 54:06[SPEAKER_02]: You're always the one who's saying, well said, but I gotta give it to you.
- 54:09[SPEAKER_02]: Well said.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_01]: All right, well, with that, I will say these things that I always say.
