Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Thanks Mike Klaan. Riding a three game point street coming
- 0:03Speaker 1: into Edmonton here today a wild schedule. You play five
- 0:06Speaker 1: on the road, go home for thirty six hours, and
- 0:08Speaker 1: then head here to Edmonton, wrap up the first leg
- 0:11Speaker 1: of this road trip for the Crack and again you've
- 0:13Speaker 1: got points in three straights. The results are starting to
- 0:15Speaker 1: come at a crucial time in the season.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought we uh, you know, I thought we
- 0:20Speaker 2: were pretty good for the most part on the trip.
- 0:23Speaker 2: I thought we got better as we've went along. In
- 0:25Speaker 2: the last three games. It started to look a little
- 0:27Speaker 2: bit more like we did before the break, just in
- 0:29Speaker 2: terms of making some plays, a little more fluid with
- 0:32Speaker 2: our hockey game. But you know, the battle level's been high,
- 0:35Speaker 2: the commitment's been high, the goaltending's been good for you know,
- 0:39Speaker 2: groupies played well for.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Us, and.
- 0:43Speaker 2: You know, we just need to keep collecting points. It's unfortunate,
- 0:47Speaker 2: you know, to shootout losses, and you know it's unfortunate
- 0:53Speaker 2: we need those points. But at the same time, you know,
- 0:57Speaker 2: we're we're battling, so we've got a big hockey game night.
- 1:00Speaker 2: To your point, we went home, spent the day at home,
- 1:03Speaker 2: get rejuvenated, come back here to Edmonton, and we know
- 1:07Speaker 2: what the magnitude of this game is.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Last handful of games, you've been getting contributions from the
- 1:12Speaker 1: players that you're expecting to get contributions from. Bobby McMahon,
- 1:16Speaker 1: Coppo Cocos, Tanler Stevenson snapped a twelve game goal drought.
- 1:20Speaker 1: What does it mean this time of year to be
- 1:22Speaker 1: getting that from those players and what more can you
- 1:24Speaker 1: do to challenge these players to find that extra level?
- 1:28Speaker 2: Well, I don't think there's anything more we can do
- 1:30Speaker 2: to challenge these players. They're veteran guys. They've been through
- 1:33Speaker 2: it before and you know, they know we've reminded them,
- 1:40Speaker 2: but certainly they know that they have to be up big.
- 1:43Speaker 2: You know, right now. You need these guys at this
- 1:46Speaker 2: time of the year. Our younger players, you know, they're
- 1:50Speaker 2: in this growth process, you know, and if you look
- 1:54Speaker 2: at their point production, it hasn't been that high. So
- 1:57Speaker 2: we need we need our veteran players to step up.
- 2:00Speaker 2: And we've had that over the last little bit. We
- 2:03Speaker 2: need to continue out of that.
- 2:05Speaker 1: What's the focus here to say that against an Oilers
- 2:07Speaker 1: team that historically has given the crack and some issues,
- 2:09Speaker 1: especially here in this building. But there's also been some
- 2:11Speaker 1: pretty good battles between these two teams over these last
- 2:14Speaker 1: five years. Going into this one tonight, no dry title
- 2:17Speaker 1: for them, still very dangerous. What can the crack and expect.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Well, they're just an offensively dynamic hockey team. If you
- 2:24Speaker 2: look at every category of offense, whether it be odd
- 2:27Speaker 2: man rushes for whether it be slot shots, whether it
- 2:30Speaker 2: be creating chances off of for check every category, and
- 2:34Speaker 2: trust me, in this day of the analytics, there's a
- 2:36Speaker 2: million of them almost there in the top five. You know.
- 2:40Speaker 2: We have to defend well and we have to make
- 2:43Speaker 2: sure that when we get the puck, we make plays.
- 2:46Speaker 1: And we own the park. You know, as.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Much as they are great offensive, you know, they're not
- 2:54Speaker 2: as good defensively as they are offensively. So we need
- 2:59Speaker 2: to challenge them. Don't sit back, you know, you can't
- 3:03Speaker 2: sort of watch. They will have some zone time. They
- 3:07Speaker 2: like to spread you out in the zone. They've done
- 3:09Speaker 2: it to every team they've played against. The last few
- 3:11Speaker 2: games we've watched them, Utah had a heck of a
- 3:13Speaker 2: hard time with them. You know, we just got to
- 3:16Speaker 2: make sure that we keep our heart rate down and
- 3:19Speaker 2: make sure that we go after them and get the
- 3:23Speaker 2: puck back and make some place
