- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, friend.
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for listening.
- 0:01[SPEAKER_00]: Today, I'm Avengers.
- 0:02[SPEAKER_00]: Mike McCurray, you're listening to the Bible Check Echo's Radio Broadcast.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_00]: Have a special treat for you today.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_00]: Dr. Paul Levine will be getting to the midpoint of a message he preached decades ago, but it still is so true today, is such a timely thought.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know about you, but I am sometimes difficult to deal with.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_00]: and the problem is I'm not just difficult for other people to deal with sometimes I make it hard for God to get my attention.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you've ever been there.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you've ever felt the same way.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you've ever either intentionally or maybe just through ignorance ignored God's leading.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: I hope that's not the case.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_00]: I hope you can say I've never done
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: The thought today is this, Dr. Paul is preaching a message.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: From decades ago, it's still so true.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's called horses and mules.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: It'll make more sense in just a moment, but the theme the thought today is this.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_00]: God will get your attention.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: Have you ever tried to talk to someone that was purposefully ignoring you?
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it was a toddler.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it was a child of yours that didn't want to hear what you had to say.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it was time for bed and they're acting like, I can't hear you.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: It's a little bit annoying, isn't it?
- 1:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's a little frustrating.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_00]: how annoying, how irritating do you think that is for God Almighty, to try to speak to his children like you and like me, and we act like a rebellious teenager, a rebellious toddler.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_00]: I want nothing of what you have for me, God.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_00]: When we know in our heart of hearts that God's way is the best way.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: In just a moment, Dr. Paul is going to dive into this thought, God will get your attention.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to ask you, would you consider coming to the thought, diving into the broadcast today with a soft and malleable heart?
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: What do I mean by that?
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: If God speaks to you through the age-old words of Dr. Paul of Vene,
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: And the Holy Spirit tugs on your heartstrings and says, that's you.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: You are in the wrong.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: You have some correction needed.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: You need to pay attention to what Dr. Paul sang.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: Would you come even before Dr. Paul begins speaking here in just a moment?
- 2:40[SPEAKER_00]: Would you come to this thought ready for God to speak to you?
- 2:45[SPEAKER_00]: Don't come with a hard hearted or hard headed attitude.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: Let's be ready for God to speak to us.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_00]: I want to thank you for being a part today, but don't just be a part-take part.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: Listen intently.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: This is from a message titled Horses and Mewals Preach by Dr. Paul of Me many years ago at Bill Rice Ranch, but listen now.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_02]: And God knows how to do it.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_02]: Boy, God can get your attention.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, sure.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_02]: And for example, Jonah,
- 3:18[SPEAKER_02]: For God, they get Jonah's attention, God struck him in the belly of a fish, and he got his attention in there.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_02]: Remember the other day, I told you about a young man in prison, Kansas State, the prison 11 worse, God got his attention in jail.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_02]: If God has to put you in jail, get your attention, you'll do it.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_02]: If he has to put you in a hospital to get your attention, he'll do it.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_02]: If he has to break your hind leg to get your attention, he'll do it.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_02]: He's got all kinds of ways of doing it.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_02]: But he knows how to put a bit in a bridal on you.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, sir.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_02]: Now, here's our mule at stubborn and rebellious, and you have to get to retention.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_02]: And if God has to get your attention, will the fans post he'll do it?
- 4:00[SPEAKER_02]: There's an old story about a mule, a guy bought, you know, he bought a mule, and the mule wasn't any good.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_02]: And he went back to the guy, he bought it from me, said, this mule is no good.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_02]: He won't do anything for him in.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_02]: And the former owner came and he says, I'll show you how to do it.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_02]: He picked up a fence post, and he clobbered a mule, knocked him down, mule got up, and he told a mule what to do, and mule did it.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_02]: And the new owner says, well, he said, mule is no good with me, and the first owner says,
- 4:30[SPEAKER_02]: Now, young folks, I want to warn you about something.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_02]: If you force God to do it, he'll use the fence post on you.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_02]: He's God ways of getting your attention.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_02]: And then you won't like it.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_02]: It'll be terrible, and it'll be horrible, see?
- 4:45[SPEAKER_02]: So that God has his way with you, because otherwise you're heading for trouble.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_02]: Now, what about a horse?
- 4:49[SPEAKER_02]: Well, a horse, you know, unbroken horse is no good.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_02]: A horse, it's stubborn and has his own wheels.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_02]: Pete Rice tells about a horse that he had right here on the Bill of Rice friends and he would not be broken and Pete took him out, dug a big hole over here and shot him and buried him.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_02]: See?
- 5:13[SPEAKER_02]: All right, so horses get there, they're runaway.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_02]: And no matter how beautiful a horse is, see?
- 5:20[SPEAKER_02]: And no matter how strong and no matter how exciting that horse is, and no matter how intelligent and what a good pedigree, if he's not broken, he's no good.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_02]: And either are you young, man, young lady.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_02]: If you don't give your will to God, you'll never be any good to God at all.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_02]: Now, you know horses do sometimes, they run away.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_02]: When I grew up on the farm, we went to church horse and buggy.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_02]: We had a horse one time around the way.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_02]: You know what my dad did with him?
- 5:46[SPEAKER_02]: I saw this.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_02]: My dad was coming down the road in a, what we call a spring wagon.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_02]: And instead of turning in our lane, the horse boy, that horse was going.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_02]: He was going full speed ahead.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_02]: He would have no big time as his man.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_02]: This is great.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_02]: I'm doing my own thing.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_02]: That fellow back there in the way, did not tell me what to do.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to turn in there.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to just go where I want to go.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_02]: And he was just running like 60.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_02]: You know, my dad did two things.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_02]: He let him run.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_02]: My dad just loosened up on a raise a little bit.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_02]: So, okay, his name is Prince.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, Prince, run now.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_02]: Boy, he ran.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_02]: He ran about two miles.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_02]: When he got about two miles from home, you know, my dad did then.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_02]: My dad turned him around.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_02]: And Prince was out of the run and knows you know, he's tired.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_02]: and that my dad turned Prince around and my dad said to Prince, I thought you were under on.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to fix it and I'll see you will run and my dad got the whip out and man, he whipped that horse all the way home and made him run and I saw him come in our lane.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_02]: That horse was white with a ladder, a ladder all over him and snorting and puffing like a steam engine and you know what, Prince never ran away again.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_02]: See what my dad did, he laid him run, he whipped him home.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_02]: God will do that with young people.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_02]: You know that God will let you run if you decide you're going to run?
- 7:01[SPEAKER_02]: You say, well, yeah, I mean, if you say, for example, you say, I got an unsafe boyfriend and I know God says, don't marry him, but I'm going to marry him.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_02]: You know what, God may just let you marry him.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_02]: God could kill you and keep you from marrying him.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_02]: God could kill him and keep you from marrying him.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_02]: But God may just let you marry that unsafe girl.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_02]: And then you find yourself in a packet trouble.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_02]: God may let you run in the trouble.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_02]: God let Jonah run until he landed in the belly of that fish.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_02]: See?
- 7:31[SPEAKER_02]: God let Samson run until he got the wrong girl and went into sin.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_02]: And the gang got him and got his desires out and he had the granite of meal like an animal.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_02]: God let that happen to him.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_02]: See?
- 7:43[SPEAKER_02]: God, make just let you run.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_02]: Just let you run into trouble, run into jail, run into the hospital, God may just let you run, and that's what He did.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_02]: With Samson, that's what He did with Jonah, that's what He did with David.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_02]: And God may just do that for you.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_02]: You know what?
- 8:01[SPEAKER_02]: Listen, there was a boy 15 years old who was here to range, and his brother had been here to range.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_02]: But listen to this, the brother 16 years old committed suicide.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_02]: Would you say that any 16 year old boy here would commit suicide?
- 8:18[SPEAKER_02]: Are you looking down at something that you're writing about the messages or are you just looking down because I don't have your attention all there?
- 8:24[SPEAKER_02]: I would like to hear what the head you get this.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_02]: I really would like for you to get it.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_02]: Now, I forgot what I was talking about men to go.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_02]: Boy, yeah, thank you.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_02]: Boy is here at the ranch when he was 60 and he killed himself.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_02]: Would you imagine any 15, 16-year-old or your boy that you're looking at right now, with some day before he's 17 years old, kill himself?
- 8:48[SPEAKER_02]: That boy did, and he's 15-year-old brother, told me about it.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_02]: Brother came to camp right after this happened, and this is exactly what the brother said.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_02]: He said, my brother killed himself by running with the gang drinking liquor and going to the dance.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_02]: Now God could have stopped him from running with that gang, and God could have stopped him from drinking that liquor, and God could have kept him from that dance, but God
- 9:21[SPEAKER_02]: And if you just decide to run and run away from God and do your own thing God made just let you do it.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_02]: So he said, don't be like a horse or a mule.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_02]: Let me guide you the easy way.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_02]: I might have to take a fence post to get your attention.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_02]: I might have to do something awful.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_02]: I might have to put a bit and a bridle on you.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_02]: If you decide to run for me, I made just let you run in all kinds of trouble.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_02]: And then there's one more thing about horses.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_02]: If a horse is incorrigible and will never give up,
- 9:49[SPEAKER_02]: There's only one thing to do, and that's to get rid of.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_02]: The shootem and make jell a lot of them.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_02]: And whatever they do with them.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_02]: Make so far out of them.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_02]: That's about all they're good for.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_02]: Soap, say, or dog food.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_02]: That's all they're good for.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_02]: Whoa, that could be used in a wonderful way.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to see a horse.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_02]: His music still here on there.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to see a horse this afternoon that was at one time the world champion cutting horse, beautiful horse, and absolutely totally yielded to the man on his back.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_02]: But out here there are some what's left of some bones of another horse on the same ranch that would not yield like music yielded, and that horse was shot and buried.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you say the Lord wouldn't do that to me.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_02]: He wouldn't kill me when he would.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_02]: Well, yes, you will.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_02]: I want you to, I want you to show you a scripture and turn to this, will you?
- 10:45[SPEAKER_02]: This is the first John chapter five.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_02]: I hear something maybe he didn't know was in the Bible.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_02]: But here in first John chapter five, it tells us that God kills people.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_02]: Look at verse 16.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_02]: First John chapter 5, way in the back of the Bible, if any man see his brother sin is sin which is not under death, he shall ask and he shall give him life for them that sin not under death.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_02]: I won't go into that part of it, but there is a sin under death.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_02]: Look at that.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_02]: Next phrase, there is a sin under death, young people.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_02]: What death he talking about, he's talking about the death that landed in the morgue.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_02]: He's talking about the death where they squirt in bombing fluid all through you.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_02]: He's talking about death where they drain the blood out of you.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_02]: He's talking about the death where they bury you in a coffin under six feet of ground.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_02]: That's the kind of death he's talking about, physical death.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_02]: Now he says, there is a sin unto death.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_02]: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_02]: In other words, you and I shouldn't go around pray that God will kill people.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_02]: God knows who he ought to kill, who he ought not kill, but as you read your Bible, boy, all through the Bible, you read about how God killed people.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_02]: God killed them because they were like a horse.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_02]: They were like a mule.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_02]: They'd never gave up.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_02]: They rebelled and rebelled and rebelled.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_00]: I understand that this concept of the sin unto death may be a little difficult for you to grasp for us to really wrap our minds around.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: Why would God take such drastic measures?
- 12:14[SPEAKER_00]: whereas Dr. Paul just told us.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes we can be so difficult to communicate too.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_00]: that the best option for the will and glory of God is to just take us home.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_00]: To just remute and remove us from the human appreciation.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_00]: You say, would a God of love do that?
- 12:37[SPEAKER_00]: Friend, he is 100% love and 100% justice.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_00]: Let me encourage you to join us tomorrow as Dr. Paul continues this thought.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you so much for listening.
