- 0:21Speaker 1: the end zone. Our ten yard touchdown reception for Puppas

- 0:28Speaker 1: a place on this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com.
- 0:33Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk Recap edition. I am Michael
- 0:36Speaker 1: Bumps here with Nasa Choby. The Hawks ball to the
- 0:40Speaker 1: Rams twenty six to seventeen in a tough loss at
- 0:44Speaker 1: home Thursday night football. Not what you wanted to see.
- 0:47Speaker 1: And like we always do after the games, we gotta
- 0:49Speaker 1: get into the trenches. Ray Robert, It's time to go
- 0:54Speaker 1: inside the trenches with former Seahawk Ray Roberts, Big ray Man.
- 1:02Speaker 1: It was a tough game for the Seahawks. They start
- 1:04Speaker 1: off the game decent, going to have seven to three
- 1:07Speaker 1: could have been a ten to three. Myers misses a
- 1:10Speaker 1: field goal. We're feeling okay. The second half rolls around
- 1:13Speaker 1: and these guys get outscored and just didn't look too good.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Didn't feel good with your thoughts. Yeah, you know, it's
- 1:20Speaker 1: like one of those things where, uh, you know, as
- 1:22Speaker 1: a parent, you know, sometimes you try to like correct
- 1:25Speaker 1: your kids and the things that they're doing that you
- 1:27Speaker 1: want them to do better, and you keep changing up
- 1:30Speaker 1: your methods of how to you know, how to get
- 1:32Speaker 1: the message across and all these different things, and then
- 1:34Speaker 1: and then and then it just never really manifest itself.
- 1:37Speaker 1: So then you got to really figure out whether you
- 1:40Speaker 1: know your approach or their ability to do it. And
- 1:42Speaker 1: so I think with the Seahawks, uh, that's kind of
- 1:45Speaker 1: where you are. You know, Pete was talking about the
- 1:48Speaker 1: the the completions over the middle of the defense and
- 1:52Speaker 1: then not getting pressure on the quarterback and those just
- 1:55Speaker 1: kind of seeming to beat things that are that just
- 1:57Speaker 1: kind of keep popping up on defense and then on
- 1:59Speaker 1: off sense. Man, it just there's just these dead periods
- 2:02Speaker 1: where where the offense just kind of you know, kind
- 2:04Speaker 1: of goes to sleep and can't really get out of
- 2:06Speaker 1: his own way. Uh, and then it allows other teams
- 2:09Speaker 1: to get back into it, or to extend leads or
- 2:12Speaker 1: have big second half, the big Derrek quarters and and
- 2:15Speaker 1: that's kind of what happened last night. Alex Collins got
- 2:19Speaker 1: to start at the running back with possession. He had
- 2:21Speaker 1: fifteen carries for forty seven yards, averaging three point one
- 2:24Speaker 1: yards per carry. It seemed like he had a bigger
- 2:27Speaker 1: impact than that. Do you feel like the absence of
- 2:29Speaker 1: Chris Carson affected what happened with this offense? I think so,
- 2:34Speaker 1: because you know, I love Alex and what he does
- 2:37Speaker 1: coming off the bench, but him been an every down
- 2:40Speaker 1: starter for an entire game, I don't know that he brings,
- 2:43Speaker 1: you know, that physicality to the run game that that
- 2:47Speaker 1: Chris brings, where you you know, you you're running the
- 2:50Speaker 1: ball and they're they're trying to attack you for three
- 2:52Speaker 1: or fourth quarters and they started getting tired of, you know,
- 2:55Speaker 1: running into a dude that's running really hard until you know,
- 2:58Speaker 1: three yards, turning the five yards in the ten or
- 3:00Speaker 1: fifteen yards. I don't know if you get that with
- 3:03Speaker 1: Alex and on that on that fourth down play, Uh,
- 3:06Speaker 1: you know, people may have questioned to call, but if
- 3:08Speaker 1: Alex had stayed to the play, side. He probably would
- 3:10Speaker 1: have picked up the first down, but he cut it
- 3:12Speaker 1: back to where all the bad dudes were and um
- 3:15Speaker 1: and ended up, you know, obviously coming up short. So uh,
- 3:19Speaker 1: you know, I think he's a good number two to
- 3:21Speaker 1: a good number one, but I don't know that he's
- 3:23Speaker 1: the back that you can kind of rely on and
- 3:27Speaker 1: hang your hat on for an entire game. Well, going
- 3:31Speaker 1: into this game, obviously Aaron Donald and Leonard Floyd wore
- 3:34Speaker 1: a big focus when it came to this Rams defense.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Aaron Donald ended the game with seven tackles in one sack.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Russell was sacked twice total throughout the game. Um, how
- 3:43Speaker 1: did you feel this offensive line handled this Rams defensive line?
- 3:48Speaker 1: You know, so the most part, I thought they did
- 3:50Speaker 1: a good job. You know, there were some plays where
- 3:54Speaker 1: Aaron Donald's Donald was disruptive, you know, but for who
- 3:58Speaker 1: he is and for what you're what you would consider
- 4:02Speaker 1: a win against him, I thought they played winning football
- 4:07Speaker 1: against him. But he did have some impacts on the game.
- 4:10Speaker 1: He was part of the fourth down stop, um he
- 4:14Speaker 1: got he did get the sack one time when Russell
- 4:16Speaker 1: had protection but then scrambled out of the pocket. He
- 4:19Speaker 1: was standing off. If you watched the tim he was
- 4:21Speaker 1: standing off to the right side already blocked, and the
- 4:24Speaker 1: sack kind of came to him, and uh and so,
- 4:27Speaker 1: and then he was obviously in on the play where
- 4:29Speaker 1: Russell hurt his finger, and so he had he had
- 4:32Speaker 1: three major of those seven tackles, three of them were
- 4:36Speaker 1: very impactful in the game. And so it felt like
- 4:39Speaker 1: he probably played or better against this line than what
- 4:43Speaker 1: he actually did. And you mentioned Russell hurting his finger
- 4:47Speaker 1: on Aaron Donald that was on a MISSQ to Tyler Lockett.
- 4:50Speaker 1: That completion would have changed the game. So because of that,
- 4:54Speaker 1: Geno Smith comes in in the fourth quarter and put
- 4:56Speaker 1: together an impressive drive. Right Tim plays ninety eight yards.
- 5:00Speaker 1: I mean, the guy went from holding a clipboard to
- 5:04Speaker 1: getting this team back in the football game. What did
- 5:06Speaker 1: you think of Geno Smith's performance? You know, I thought
- 5:10Speaker 1: it was pretty incredible, man, because you know, you haven't
- 5:12Speaker 1: played a whole lot of real snaps other than you know,
- 5:15Speaker 1: preseason football since you've been here. Because Russell never comes
- 5:19Speaker 1: out of a game, and then, uh, all of a
- 5:22Speaker 1: sudden in a in a game, in a crucial moment,
- 5:24Speaker 1: your first snap, you know, planned, planned, with the with
- 5:28Speaker 1: the real dudes, is your your feet are standing in
- 5:30Speaker 1: the end zone and so like my first thought was like, man,
- 5:33Speaker 1: please don't drop the snap like because he had I mean,
- 5:35Speaker 1: he came in cold, without getting warm up, you know
- 5:37Speaker 1: with the with the center or anything. So I was
- 5:39Speaker 1: pretty impressed with his poise, with the confidence that he
- 5:43Speaker 1: played with. And you know, we talked in the post game.
- 5:46Speaker 1: It just seemed to calm everything down when he came in.
- 5:48Speaker 1: It just seemed like the offense was less fastic and uh,
- 5:52Speaker 1: and they and he was able to execute the things
- 5:54Speaker 1: that that the players were calling for. The protection looked better,
- 5:57Speaker 1: his movement in the pocket, and the pocket was great.
- 6:00Speaker 1: You know, the receivers were getting no open He found Disley,
- 6:03Speaker 1: he scrammled a little bit and and made some plays.
- 6:05Speaker 1: He's he had a zone read that he kept and
- 6:07Speaker 1: picked up four or five yards. So he looked like
- 6:10Speaker 1: he was gonna be able to to to really give
- 6:13Speaker 1: this team a chance to pull it out at the end. Unfortunately, uh,
- 6:17Speaker 1: you know, in the last past, um Locket either got
- 6:21Speaker 1: tripped or felled and then the ball went right to
- 6:23Speaker 1: the defender and so came really put that on on Dino.
- 6:26Speaker 1: But Gino came in. You know, he was our player
- 6:28Speaker 1: of the game just because of his impact that he
- 6:31Speaker 1: had on the offense and really did give the team
- 6:34Speaker 1: a chance to get itself back, to get itself back
- 6:36Speaker 1: into the game. Yeah, I was happy to see Gino
- 6:39Speaker 1: out there. That was the first such on pass he thrown.
- 6:41Speaker 1: He's thrown his twenty seventeam got this offense going that
- 6:45Speaker 1: throw the Tyler Lockett, I feel like he was clipped. Angry.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Twitter calls me crazy and my love, look at the film, man,
- 6:50Speaker 1: there is some contact. All you do what you're home
- 6:52Speaker 1: with that, But it's nice to see Gino get back
- 6:54Speaker 1: in the game. Now, the Hawks traveled to Pittsburgh. Is
- 6:57Speaker 1: this a get right game? And what do they have
- 6:59Speaker 1: to do rebound from a two and three start? Well,
- 7:03Speaker 1: I think that's the first thing they have to do, Mike,
- 7:05Speaker 1: And this is a this is a tough thing, right.
- 7:07Speaker 1: It's like you have to figure out if you can
- 7:11Speaker 1: make the corrections that you have acknowledged, and then if
- 7:14Speaker 1: you can make those correct corrections, what are those things
- 7:17Speaker 1: that are gonna that are gonna lead to the change behavior?
- 7:20Speaker 1: And then the second thing you have to figure out
- 7:21Speaker 1: is do you actually have the people that can actually
- 7:24Speaker 1: make the change. And that's a that's a hard to
- 7:26Speaker 1: do on an NFL team because it's not like you
- 7:28Speaker 1: can go recruit a whole another group of dudes. So
- 7:31Speaker 1: then you have to decide whether or not what you're
- 7:33Speaker 1: asking them to do is h is the right thing
- 7:35Speaker 1: that you're asking them to do. So those things, to me,
- 7:38Speaker 1: those things, to me are important in this little bit
- 7:40Speaker 1: of a downtime that they have because they do have
- 7:43Speaker 1: three games coming up that are winnable games if they're
- 7:45Speaker 1: playing the type of football that this roster is capable
- 7:48Speaker 1: of doing. You have Pittsburgh, the Saints, and jack and Jacksonville,
- 7:52Speaker 1: So you have three get right type of games to
- 7:55Speaker 1: kind of get your team together, get your your philosophies together,
- 7:59Speaker 1: get your execution together, get your connecting this together, so
- 8:02Speaker 1: that then you can put yourself in a position after
- 8:04Speaker 1: those three games to really, you know, make a run
- 8:07Speaker 1: to get into the playoffs. I'm which Ray, go to Pittsburgh.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Good right, you got three games you can win. You
- 8:12Speaker 1: can be five and three before the bye week. Ray,
- 8:16Speaker 1: always appreciate your input, man, you have a good one, Yes, sir,
- 8:19Speaker 1: go home. All right, it's time to bring NASA Shoby
- 8:23Speaker 1: into the MiGs and figure out what had happened. See
- 8:26Speaker 1: what happened at first what had happened was undo what
- 8:34Speaker 1: had happened. Man, we've been unfortunately this young season. We've
- 8:38Speaker 1: had this kind of reaction after Seahawks games, third time
- 8:42Speaker 1: this year. The Seahawks new come into this game was
- 8:44Speaker 1: gonna be a tough divisual matchup against this Rams team
- 8:46Speaker 1: who's had lots of success against the Seahawks in recent years,
- 8:49Speaker 1: especially under Sean McVeagh. And in the first half, Man,
- 8:52Speaker 1: it was promising. We saw one of the best performances
- 8:54Speaker 1: from this defense all season for the Rams drives this
- 8:57Speaker 1: high powered offense. It went punt, punt, interception, punt field
- 9:02Speaker 1: goal and a half. Anytime you can hold Sean McVay,
- 9:05Speaker 1: Matthew Stafford, Robert Woods, Cooper Cup, Darryl Henderson that offense
- 9:09Speaker 1: to three points in one half, you're think you're gonna
- 9:11Speaker 1: win that football game. Good feeling, good, feeling great, man.
- 9:14Speaker 1: But like it has been a lot this year, the
- 9:17Speaker 1: second half of a different story. The Seahawks has really
- 9:19Speaker 1: struggled to put four quarters together and that showed up
- 9:22Speaker 1: again on Thursday Night Football. The Rams exploded in that
- 9:24Speaker 1: third quarter. You know, after a pump by the Seahawks offense,
- 9:27Speaker 1: the Rams responded with an eight play ninety six yard
- 9:30Speaker 1: drive ending with Daryl Henderson touchdown. On that drives, the
- 9:33Speaker 1: Rams converted a third and ten on a sixty eight
- 9:36Speaker 1: yard passed to Seawan Jackson and bump As we know
- 9:38Speaker 1: that really that really changed the game right there. The
- 9:40Speaker 1: Seahawks were in control and it was kind of a
- 9:43Speaker 1: snowball effect because you remember at the end of the
- 9:44Speaker 1: first half, the Seahawks drive down, they have a touchdown,
- 9:47Speaker 1: penalty gets called back, Myers misses the field goal. The
- 9:50Speaker 1: Seahawks had an opportunity to go up fourteen to three
- 9:53Speaker 1: going in a half, getting the ball back in the
- 9:54Speaker 1: second half. That doesn't happen. They get the ball to
- 9:57Speaker 1: start the second half, they punt, they go three out.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Then the Rams marched right down and that really changed
- 10:02Speaker 1: the game. And it was tough bump Man. I mean,
- 10:04Speaker 1: it's third and ten. You have him backed up, you're
- 10:06Speaker 1: doing everything right, and you have two guys in position.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Jamal Adams is in position, Sydney Jones underneath, and my
- 10:13Speaker 1: dB coach and my coach and high school coach Steward
- 10:16Speaker 1: and all those guys used to preach, you know, all
- 10:18Speaker 1: these deep balls are always underthrown. Yeah, and it was
- 10:21Speaker 1: under thrown. Unfortunately, Jamal kind of turned to run. I
- 10:24Speaker 1: wasn't able to make a playing the football. The oh
- 10:27Speaker 1: de Shaan Jackson makes a play and then the game
- 10:29Speaker 1: just kind of went from there. Man and and then
- 10:31Speaker 1: on the next drive, Bump Russell Wilson miss hire locket
- 10:34Speaker 1: and what would have been a long touchdown. Aaron Donald
- 10:38Speaker 1: pressed him on the play, affected the throw. He brought
- 10:40Speaker 1: his hand through their hands kind of hit Russell Wilson
- 10:43Speaker 1: hits his finger on it, spraying his finger on the throw.
- 10:45Speaker 1: He's down in LA trying to figure out what's going on.
- 10:47Speaker 1: He's gonna get multiple opinions. And then the game changed
- 10:50Speaker 1: right there at Seahawks punted and then bump. The Rams
- 10:52Speaker 1: just took advantage in that third quarter. Rams took advantage
- 10:56Speaker 1: in the third quarter. They went on a five play
- 10:58Speaker 1: eighty two yards drive. Talks about Tyler Habe that touchdown play.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Two big plays in this game. Jamal Adams was in
- 11:05Speaker 1: position right and the Rams just made it play. He's
- 11:08Speaker 1: on top of that. The Son Jackson play he's right
- 11:10Speaker 1: on Higgsby's Higgsby's hip. He's just a big man. There's
- 11:13Speaker 1: not much you can do about that great throwed by
- 11:16Speaker 1: Matthew Stafford. That's what hurts because you see these guys
- 11:19Speaker 1: in position to make these plays right. And then to
- 11:21Speaker 1: start the fourth quarter, Geno Smith is under center, Russell
- 11:24Speaker 1: Wilson gets hurt. Geno Smith gets to start, like Ray said,
- 11:28Speaker 1: he's his feet are in his own end zone. I'm thinking, man,
- 11:32Speaker 1: I'm thinking the worst right now. I'm like, I don't
- 11:34Speaker 1: know if this office can manufacture in ninety eight yard driving.
- 11:38Speaker 1: That's exactly what they did. Gino Marshall field down, Uncle
- 11:41Speaker 1: Will got involved in that drive ends with a twenty
- 11:43Speaker 1: three yard touchdown to DK Metcam. Then you're starting to
- 11:47Speaker 1: fill it right. The game is now sixteen to fourteen,
- 11:50Speaker 1: and you're just right, defense give us something, to give
- 11:52Speaker 1: us something, but just didn't happen. The Rams going to
- 11:55Speaker 1: six place, seventy three yard drive anyone to touchdowns to
- 11:57Speaker 1: Sony Michelle and the Seahawks. Yeah, I mean, I'm like
- 12:02Speaker 1: running out of words to express just how deflating these
- 12:07Speaker 1: moments are for us. Right now, you get they get
- 12:11Speaker 1: just close to enough to make you believe they get
- 12:14Speaker 1: within two, but then the defense doesn't hold up. You
- 12:17Speaker 1: get the ball back with Gino Smith time on the clock,
- 12:19Speaker 1: they're like, okay, can you put together another drive to
- 12:22Speaker 1: win this ball game. He's throwing a crossing routes to
- 12:25Speaker 1: Tyler Lockett. Tyler Lockett gets clipped. I don't care what
- 12:28Speaker 1: none of y'all say out there. I don't care if
- 12:30Speaker 1: it's a minor touching foul. It is a foul. Throw
- 12:33Speaker 1: the flag. That's the first quarter. They're throwing that flag
- 12:36Speaker 1: on that passing feris of Tyler Lockett. Doesn't happen. Gino
- 12:39Speaker 1: throws an interception. I just don't want people to look
- 12:42Speaker 1: at these stats and be like, oh, yeah, Gino came in,
- 12:44Speaker 1: couldn't get them through an intercession. Gino kept these dudes
- 12:47Speaker 1: in the game. Oh my goodness. Without question, that's so
- 12:50Speaker 1: impressive that Gino is so so impressive. And while we're
- 12:54Speaker 1: talking about Gino, what's getting these playmakers playmakers starting Regino
- 13:09Speaker 1: Smith we've talked about. Russell Wilson obviously started the game.
- 13:11Speaker 1: He went eleven to sixteen for one hundred and fifty
- 13:13Speaker 1: two yards, one touchdown, one interception hurts his finger. Gino
- 13:17Speaker 1: Smith comes in and people, if you don't understand this,
- 13:20Speaker 1: I mean, you really have to understand how impressive this
- 13:23Speaker 1: effort was from Gino Smith. Okay, when I don't care
- 13:27Speaker 1: what level football you're playing, the starters, the ones, they
- 13:30Speaker 1: get all the reps in practice. Okay, they're going against
- 13:33Speaker 1: the scout team or the prep team, the look team,
- 13:35Speaker 1: whatever you call it in your terminology wherever you know,
- 13:38Speaker 1: you play football around and the ones get all the
- 13:40Speaker 1: reps because they're the ones playing. Right. So Gino Smith
- 13:43Speaker 1: typically throughout the week he'll get a couple reps here
- 13:45Speaker 1: and there, he'll get in there, but his main look
- 13:47Speaker 1: is get the defense ready. That's what he's doing all
- 13:49Speaker 1: the time. So what it takes for a guy to
- 13:52Speaker 1: be in the game all the time? People, you hear
- 13:55Speaker 1: all the cliches, prepare lack, you're going to be the starter,
- 13:57Speaker 1: But to actually do that, he's unbelievable because you're in
- 14:01Speaker 1: all those meetings, but you're not getting the same reps,
- 14:03Speaker 1: you're not getting the same look. So you're you're taking
- 14:05Speaker 1: all these mental reps and to be that locked in
- 14:07Speaker 1: and other guys who don't you don't start or play.
- 14:09Speaker 1: But if you're not playing quarterback, you're probably playing some
- 14:12Speaker 1: special teams, right, That's why you're on the football team.
- 14:14Speaker 1: So you're impacting the game. You're still running down on kickoff.
- 14:17Speaker 1: You're gonna kickoff return, punt return, pump block, pat whatever.
- 14:20Speaker 1: You're in the game. So you're still locked in your
- 14:22Speaker 1: position if you need to go in, but you at
- 14:23Speaker 1: least are getting hit, You're at least warmed up. You're
- 14:25Speaker 1: looser doing stuff. For Gino to go from being on
- 14:28Speaker 1: a headset to be in his own end zone and
- 14:31Speaker 1: to lead the Seahawks on a ninety eight yard drive,
- 14:33Speaker 1: are you kidding me? I mean, I'm a big ups
- 14:36Speaker 1: to Gino Smithy showed that he can still do it.
- 14:38Speaker 1: And the silver lining out of this is, you know,
- 14:41Speaker 1: obviously we're trying to pray a new existence at Russell
- 14:43Speaker 1: Wilson's gonna be fine. He's never missed a start in
- 14:45Speaker 1: his NFL career. We're hoping that stays the same. But
- 14:47Speaker 1: if not, there's faith now and Gino smith not that
- 14:50Speaker 1: there wasn't before. I don't want to say that, but
- 14:52Speaker 1: what I mean is everyone's seen it. You're like, Okay,
- 14:55Speaker 1: there's real belief. Every single guy on that team talked
- 14:58Speaker 1: about the performance from Gino Smith's stepping up after the game,
- 15:01Speaker 1: and you just love to see it, so like, I
- 15:03Speaker 1: just want to give all the praise in the world
- 15:05Speaker 1: of Gino Smith to come in there and do that
- 15:07Speaker 1: and look like he didn't skip a beat man. They
- 15:09Speaker 1: took every single rap man. Just big ups Gino. He
- 15:12Speaker 1: looked better here than he did with the Jets. That
- 15:16Speaker 1: one drive. You look composed, he looked at control and
- 15:19Speaker 1: people got to realize, Hero, he got more reps running
- 15:22Speaker 1: the Rams offense than he did the actual Seahawks offense.
- 15:25Speaker 1: That's what a scouting quarterback does. Look, this is what
- 15:27Speaker 1: they like to do. I'm gonna be Matthew Stafford for
- 15:29Speaker 1: the week. Very impressing from Gino Smith. Lists. Pray that
- 15:33Speaker 1: Russell Wilson is healthy. Hey, do you think if he's
- 15:35Speaker 1: not healthy, they just let him start so he keeps
- 15:37Speaker 1: that record going. You think the low key I'd be
- 15:41Speaker 1: petty even if I'm people like, hey, man, go ahead,
- 15:43Speaker 1: get the first snap, then we'll get you a fat man.
- 15:45Speaker 1: I wish man, I wish all right. Another playmaker. Dk
- 15:49Speaker 1: Metcat five receptions ninety eight yards, two touchdowns on five targets.
- 15:53Speaker 1: With those two touchdowns, DK moved into eighth place on
- 15:56Speaker 1: the Seahawks all time touchdown reception list with twenty two.
- 16:00Speaker 1: He won the battle. We looked at the match between
- 16:03Speaker 1: him and Jalen Ramsey. If there's any type of win
- 16:06Speaker 1: we're gonna take out of this, DK won that battle.
- 16:09Speaker 1: He caught a touchdown to get things going. Oh and
- 16:11Speaker 1: Jalen Ramsey. Jalen tried to pop him. I believe the
- 16:13Speaker 1: safety came over to hit him as well, but he
- 16:15Speaker 1: got it done. Both touchdowns were bang bang touchdowns. Those
- 16:18Speaker 1: were big boy I'm using my hands. I'm gonna get hit,
- 16:21Speaker 1: but I'm gonna get an end zone. No love to
- 16:24Speaker 1: see it. And he's doing what people assumed he would do.
- 16:28Speaker 1: You know, if you're if you're getting to that superstar
- 16:30Speaker 1: level at wide receiver, he's doing that. You know. He
- 16:32Speaker 1: had still start the first couple of games as Tyler
- 16:34Speaker 1: is going nuts and they were defending him differently. But
- 16:36Speaker 1: the last couple games when this offense wasn't going who
- 16:39Speaker 1: was there to pick him up? DK metcalf. So it's
- 16:41Speaker 1: great to see him doing what he's doing, playing some
- 16:44Speaker 1: big boy football. Love to see it. Quandre Diggs bump
- 16:47Speaker 1: another playmaker man Quandre. We talked about this on the
- 16:51Speaker 1: post game show last night. Man he had told he
- 16:53Speaker 1: had five tackles, won interception and back to back games
- 16:55Speaker 1: with interception. He's the only person taking the football away
- 16:58Speaker 1: right now, Quandre Diggs. He's the leader that defense. He's
- 17:01Speaker 1: the vocal leader. And I'm seeing him out there, emotions
- 17:04Speaker 1: tore flying high. He's upset, he's he's a leader of
- 17:07Speaker 1: the defense at least in the secondary, calling coverages and whatnot.
- 17:09Speaker 1: And he wants he's a great football player. He wants
- 17:12Speaker 1: the Seahawks to execute at the level that they think
- 17:14Speaker 1: they can. And you know, unfortunately for the secondary year
- 17:18Speaker 1: starting the season giving up a ton of yards, it's
- 17:20Speaker 1: just not Seahawk football. It's not what Pete Carroll's about, now,
- 17:22Speaker 1: what Ken RN's about, now, Bobby Wagner's about. But you know,
- 17:26Speaker 1: it's a start. And I think if people can can
- 17:28Speaker 1: follow Quandre's lead and just piggyback and just be able
- 17:31Speaker 1: to make plays and take the ball away, this defense
- 17:34Speaker 1: can recover and play like they're supposed to play. But no,
- 17:37Speaker 1: great to see Quandre Diggs. Man, he's one of the
- 17:39Speaker 1: most underrated safeties in the NFL. He comes down, He'll
- 17:42Speaker 1: smack you. He's one of the best guys running that alley.
- 17:45Speaker 1: He's a great cover three safety, he's a great two
- 17:47Speaker 1: deep safety, you know, playing center field to a level
- 17:49Speaker 1: we see out of Quandre Diggs, and he keeps a
- 17:52Speaker 1: real pulse game. If you guys didn't hear his posts
- 17:54Speaker 1: game interview, he was upset, but he still answered questions.
- 17:57Speaker 1: But he was not going to sugarcoat anything. He says, Look,
- 18:00Speaker 1: I am here to cover seams and posts. I'm here
- 18:02Speaker 1: to see ball, get ball. I just work here. Don't
- 18:05Speaker 1: ask me all these technical questions. I'm a football player.
- 18:07Speaker 1: I love his approach. Quandre is really becoming one of
- 18:11Speaker 1: my favorite players. All right. Other performance, Alice Collins had
- 18:14Speaker 1: his start fifteen carries, forty seven yards. Now he has
- 18:19Speaker 1: some big shoes of field number thirty two. Chris Carson
- 18:22Speaker 1: was banged up. We know that's tough. That's tough on
- 18:25Speaker 1: the offense, and that's tough on him because he has
- 18:27Speaker 1: to live to a standard of running the football that
- 18:30Speaker 1: the Twelves and his organization has become accustomed to. And
- 18:33Speaker 1: I think he did okay. He did not have a
- 18:35Speaker 1: great game, but he had some moments. He moved the ball.
- 18:37Speaker 1: There's a screen, lady, We had a screen. Now that's
- 18:40Speaker 1: a successful screen. That's something we haven't done all year.
- 18:44Speaker 1: We tried tight end screens, we tried receiver screens. I
- 18:46Speaker 1: think this was the most successful screen to Alex Collins.
- 18:49Speaker 1: I'm happy for the dude. I think he's a good
- 18:52Speaker 1: number two, But like Ray Roberts says, he's not in
- 18:55Speaker 1: every down back, He's not your starter right now. The
- 18:57Speaker 1: little mix up though, oh love it. You know, I
- 19:00Speaker 1: mean Alex coins We've talked a lot about him. It's
- 19:03Speaker 1: great to show, you know, what he's been through in
- 19:05Speaker 1: his career. For him to come out, you know, the
- 19:07Speaker 1: number one guy, Chris Carson goes down, gets hurt. It's
- 19:10Speaker 1: great to see als Coms doing what he's doing and
- 19:13Speaker 1: contributing to this football team. So but man, we kind
- 19:15Speaker 1: of alluded to it with DK Metcalf. Tell me about
- 19:17Speaker 1: these receivers receiver round up. DK five catches ninety eight yards,
- 19:22Speaker 1: two touchdowns. How today Tyler Locket five catches fifty seven yards,
- 19:26Speaker 1: ten targets. That's not coming when it comes to Tyler Locket,
- 19:29Speaker 1: these usually round eighty percent completion rape DJ Dallas two
- 19:33Speaker 1: catches thirty two yards, well this league. Two for twenty one,
- 19:36Speaker 1: had a twenty one yard two for twenty nine, had
- 19:38Speaker 1: a twenty one yard reception in that ninety eight yard
- 19:41Speaker 1: drive from Geno Smith. Alice Collins had two for twenty five.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Penny Harp had two for nineteen. One of his His
- 19:48Speaker 1: fourteen yard reception was really like a jet suite, but
- 19:51Speaker 1: they toss it up so it counts as a as
- 19:54Speaker 1: a pass is really a kind of like a rim.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Travis Homer one for thirteen, Freddie Swam one for nine.
- 20:00Speaker 1: We Parkinson was at his first catch of the season,
- 20:02Speaker 1: I believe, so he didn't. He didn't get it catch
- 20:04Speaker 1: last week. That's the first catch the season. Yep, first catch.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Welcome to the NFL, youngster. Hopefully we seee more of them.
- 20:10Speaker 1: But now it's time to go to the coaches corner
- 20:12Speaker 1: and break down Russell Wilson. He finds dk Metcalf forard
- 20:15Speaker 1: nineteen yard touchdown, beating all Pro corner Jalen Ramsey. Russell
- 20:20Speaker 1: gets a snap here comes to rush Qrick Row inside
- 20:24Speaker 1: touchdown Shaye Hawks. There's no defense for a perfect past
- 20:30Speaker 1: and Russell through a laser dctor TK metcalf on the
- 20:35Speaker 1: flat right side at the coal line and Jalen Ramsey
- 20:39Speaker 1: could do nothing about it. My nineteen yard touchdown strike
- 20:42Speaker 1: the Hawks on the board first six nothing yeah, nothing
- 20:47Speaker 1: really too crazy about this. Now the Hawks catch the
- 20:50Speaker 1: Rams and the cover three. Look. They start with a
- 20:52Speaker 1: too high safety. That near side safety is a d
- 20:54Speaker 1: came rolls down into the flat and he takes the
- 20:58Speaker 1: arrow by the running back, really spanning that window. For
- 21:01Speaker 1: Russell Wilson to look at. DK is essentially one on
- 21:04Speaker 1: one with Jalen Rams. And we call this a bang
- 21:07Speaker 1: post five steps one, two, three, four or five. He
- 21:10Speaker 1: hits it as soon as he is that fifth step.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Russell Wilson knows, I gotta put this on the line.
- 21:14Speaker 1: If I don't put this in the line and kind
- 21:16Speaker 1: of work that area between the safety and the quarter,
- 21:18Speaker 1: we call that the seam area, this isn't gonna happen.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Puts it on a rope. DK hands catch safety, comes down,
- 21:25Speaker 1: takes a hit if you slow mo this. I love
- 21:28Speaker 1: seeing Jalen rams And get flipped in the air like
- 21:30Speaker 1: with him like just a child there. I really appreciate
- 21:34Speaker 1: that just simple football. Right here, we gotta match up.
- 21:37Speaker 1: I know the coverage. Let's put this on the line, DK,
- 21:39Speaker 1: you do the rest. Oh yeah, it's it's like you said,
- 21:41Speaker 1: it's simple football. They're in the cover three and Jalen's
- 21:43Speaker 1: in his back pedal and it's kind of laid out
- 21:46Speaker 1: of his break. He's already beat once DCA put his
- 21:48Speaker 1: foot in the ground. Now he's just trying to recover.
- 21:50Speaker 1: He's probably hoping that the safety can get over in time,
- 21:53Speaker 1: and unfortunately doesn't get it a lot of help and
- 21:55Speaker 1: the safety would kind of held him up. On the backside.
- 21:58Speaker 1: You have it's trips to the left side of the field,
- 22:01Speaker 1: and you have looks like Tyler Lockett running a little
- 22:04Speaker 1: kind of sit down curl right there on the end,
- 22:06Speaker 1: and then it holds safety for a minute, and then
- 22:09Speaker 1: he's late coming over and then again DK metcalf is
- 22:11Speaker 1: gonna run you over. It's a rap down in the
- 22:14Speaker 1: end zone. And I just love it because it's Jalen Ramsey. Man.
- 22:16Speaker 1: I love it because Jane Ramsey he talks the most stuff,
- 22:18Speaker 1: and you know he does. He's obviously an all pro,
- 22:20Speaker 1: an amazing cornerback. But anytime you can Jalen Ramson get
- 22:24Speaker 1: cooked up from DK Metcalf. I'm here for it, man, Hey,
- 22:28Speaker 1: we gotta take our wins when we can, because we
- 22:30Speaker 1: haven't beat the Rams in a minute, it feels like,
- 22:32Speaker 1: so we gotta take these wins when we can. Get
- 22:34Speaker 1: played by DK Metcalf having a strong season this year,
- 22:38Speaker 1: Na's no victory formation this week. Clock ran out an
- 22:45Speaker 1: taken by Hunley. They're just gonna let the clock wind down,
- 22:47Speaker 1: but he's not even gonna bother taking that last time out. Yep,
- 22:53Speaker 1: the clock did run out on the Seahawks. You know,
- 22:55Speaker 1: they came out ready to play on defense, which was
- 22:57Speaker 1: really promising. They hold the rams high powered offense just
- 23:00Speaker 1: three points in that first half. Unfortunately, it was different
- 23:03Speaker 1: story in the second half. Man. They gave up touchdowns
- 23:05Speaker 1: on three or four drives. I believe they gave up
- 23:06Speaker 1: two hundred and eleven yards in that third quarter, and
- 23:10Speaker 1: that was kind of a difference defensively, Man, they ended
- 23:12Speaker 1: up giving up four hundred and seventy six yards total offense,
- 23:16Speaker 1: so that was tough to see. You know, they did
- 23:18Speaker 1: get some clutch stops in the second half to spite
- 23:20Speaker 1: all that gave the Seahawks a chance, but you know,
- 23:22Speaker 1: ultimately the damage were done. The damage was done. Gino
- 23:27Speaker 1: came in and gave a heroic performance, landed Seahawks on
- 23:30Speaker 1: a ten play ninety eight yard drive, pulling the Seahawks
- 23:32Speaker 1: within two, but it just wasn't enough. The Seahawks third
- 23:35Speaker 1: quarter walls returned lastnce, scoring eight points eight points, running
- 23:41Speaker 1: thirteen plays for sixteen yards and three punts. But despite
- 23:45Speaker 1: all that, the Seahawks still had a chance to win
- 23:47Speaker 1: the game with two minutes nine seconds remaining in the
- 23:48Speaker 1: fourth down six, but Gino was intercepted on the first
- 23:52Speaker 1: play up the next drive, ending the game. So unfortunate
- 23:56Speaker 1: they were close, Gino Tribe, what have we gotten? Yeah?
- 24:01Speaker 1: You know, it's a huge, huge, huge week next week.
- 24:04Speaker 1: The Seahawks have a little extended by here as they're
- 24:06Speaker 1: not playing this weekend. Players have today, Saturday and Sunday off.
- 24:09Speaker 1: They'll get things going back on Monday as they get
- 24:12Speaker 1: ready ahead to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers. Man
- 24:14Speaker 1: and the Steelers are reeling too. We'll see what happens
- 24:16Speaker 1: with them on Sunday. They've lost three straight games or
- 24:19Speaker 1: one in three. Ben Roethlisberger isn't playing well. That offensive
- 24:22Speaker 1: line isn't protecting well, they're not playing good football, but
- 24:25Speaker 1: they're always traditionally a great football team. Our guy, mok Tomlin.
- 24:28Speaker 1: We love him as a head coach. We know what
- 24:30Speaker 1: he can do. He's always got those defenses playing ready.
- 24:32Speaker 1: So it's gonna be a huge game, and it's gonna
- 24:34Speaker 1: be must win game for both teams. I'm assuming you
- 24:36Speaker 1: know everyone's gonna be playing with the hair on fire
- 24:38Speaker 1: because you can't. You can't lose another game at this point.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Three winnable games. You gotta find a way to go
- 24:44Speaker 1: three and three, and then you got the Saints coming
- 24:46Speaker 1: here Monday Night Football and then the Jacksonville Jaguars coming
- 24:49Speaker 1: in on Halloween. So you gotta find a way, man,
- 24:51Speaker 1: You gotta find a way to get to that bye
- 24:52Speaker 1: week five and three, all right, find a way to
- 24:56Speaker 1: get her done. The second quarter of the NFL season
- 24:58Speaker 1: has officially started. You lost the quarter, Let's win the
- 25:01Speaker 1: second quarter. The Seahawks lose to the Los Angeles Rams
- 25:05Speaker 1: and devastating fashion on Thursday Night Football twenty six, two seventeen.
- 25:09Speaker 1: It's been real Hawk tur recap. I am Michael bump miss.
- 25:13Speaker 1: He is nasked to choven Hopefully next week we're talking
- 25:15Speaker 1: to you guys. After victory, you guys can get in there.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Talk to you soon.
