- 0:00Speaker 1: Right now. Adam Kaplan joined us. We got a little
- 0:02Speaker 1: into the NSSE East conversation last week. Adam will dive
- 0:05Speaker 1: back into that today. What's going on, man, Yeah, you.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Know, Mike, you hinted at the divisional odds and I
- 0:11Speaker 2: want to discuss them and expand it further because we
- 0:14Speaker 2: talked about this two months ago and I said, after
- 0:16Speaker 2: the draft, we'll talk about it. Well, here we are
- 0:18Speaker 2: where after the draft there's really nothing going on Eagles wise,
- 0:22Speaker 2: other than some very minor roster moves. Now the rookie camp, Mike,
- 0:27Speaker 2: there's literally no competition going on. What you look for
- 0:30Speaker 2: there is. This is what I'm covering the business twenty
- 0:33Speaker 2: seven years. This is what I look for. How are
- 0:36Speaker 2: the players from a metal standpoint? Are they behind or
- 0:38Speaker 2: where they should be? That that you try to assess
- 0:42Speaker 2: and look into. You're not going to like a reporter
- 0:45Speaker 2: doesn't go to practice and know this. There's no way
- 0:46Speaker 2: they would know this. You have to ask about it.
- 0:49Speaker 2: But it's something as we get closer to training camp, well,
- 0:51Speaker 2: we'll take a look at some of these kids and
- 0:54Speaker 2: just so you know, almost not all, but a majority
- 0:57Speaker 2: of the players the camp or rookie camp will not
- 1:00Speaker 2: be on egos roster. This fault. Just understand that.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Yeah, and obviously everybody is generally like, well, how did
- 1:06Speaker 1: Lemon look or would you have?
- 1:08Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, the draftees will be there. But that's almost
- 1:10Speaker 2: all of it. But the one thing though, we as
- 1:13Speaker 2: we talked about it on our Money Morning show to
- 1:16Speaker 2: getting all platforms, we broke down the undrafted free agents. Now,
- 1:19Speaker 2: the Eagles have a history of these guys making it.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Daris Cooper was a great story. Was not even invited
- 1:25Speaker 2: to an All Star Game last year and now forget Combay,
- 1:27Speaker 2: he wasn't invited to an All Star Game. It's extremely
- 1:31Speaker 2: rare for that type of situation to happen and player
- 1:34Speaker 2: make it. You know, we'll, we'll, We'll take a larger
- 1:38Speaker 2: look at the undrafted class as we go along here.
- 1:40Speaker 2: But the divisional odds, Mike, is where you can make
- 1:42Speaker 2: some money. I'd see some money to be made with
- 1:45Speaker 2: some of the stuff.
- 1:45Speaker 1: All right, let's dive into that because obviously everybody in
- 1:48Speaker 1: the off season form We've got the mini campus and
- 1:51Speaker 1: stuff coming up, but right now the off season free
- 1:55Speaker 1: agency kind of behind you. Draft now in the rear view,
- 2:00Speaker 1: So Tink tweaks to the roster still to come. But
- 2:03Speaker 1: where did that put these teams now post draft?
- 2:07Speaker 2: Yeah, so the odds makers see it like I do.
- 2:11Speaker 2: The Egos are the favorite, but they're not the clip.
- 2:13Speaker 2: It's not like Mike. The Eagles are, you know, minus
- 2:19Speaker 2: two twenty or minus one ten. They're plus still plus
- 2:22Speaker 2: money at plus one oh five, which means if you
- 2:26Speaker 2: if you put up one hundred, you get your hundred
- 2:28Speaker 2: dollars back, plus you get one oh five back, so
- 2:31Speaker 2: you get some money back if you like the Eagles.
- 2:33Speaker 2: I they're going to be the favorite going in the season.
- 2:36Speaker 2: There's no way around it. Now. As long as they
- 2:38Speaker 2: don't suffer a major injury in training camp in the preseason,
- 2:40Speaker 2: they're going to be the favorite now. So so to
- 2:43Speaker 2: win the NFC East, they're the favorite of plus one
- 2:45Speaker 2: o five to make the playoffs even harder, even stronger odds.
- 2:50Speaker 2: If you if you think they're going to make the
- 2:52Speaker 2: playoffs and minus two hundred, yes, no, if you think
- 2:56Speaker 2: they're gonna come up short of expectations, you're getting plus
- 2:59Speaker 2: money plus win sixty five. So this has nothing to
- 3:02Speaker 2: dow with the Cowboys or Commanders of the Giants because
- 3:04Speaker 2: you can make it as a wildcard, but if you
- 3:06Speaker 2: think that they're not going to make it either as
- 3:09Speaker 2: division winner or wildcard, you get plus uts a plus
- 3:11Speaker 2: one sixty five.
- 3:13Speaker 1: I like it. And obviously, as you just kind of
- 3:16Speaker 1: said too, the Eagles plus one oh five to win
- 3:20Speaker 1: the East and to make the playoffs one sixty five.
- 3:23Speaker 1: But you know, it's maybe not the clear cut favorite
- 3:27Speaker 1: in the NFC East. Oddly, I think we talked about
- 3:30Speaker 1: this last week. Dallas is the next closest team to
- 3:34Speaker 1: win the East at plus two thirty, and I think
- 3:37Speaker 1: their odds are very interesting after our conversation last week.
- 3:40Speaker 2: All Right, a couple things about Dallas. They're the only
- 3:43Speaker 2: team in the division is bringing back all eleven starters.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Could that means something? They have a really good offense,
- 3:48Speaker 2: it's their defense. It's been mostly non competitive for three
- 3:51Speaker 2: seasons now. Dallas run the Fanjuo defense on a Christian Parker.
- 3:56Speaker 2: I go get Quinn Willams for a full season, Kenny
- 3:58Speaker 2: Clark for a full seasons. Hungaria over in the trade
- 4:01Speaker 2: made a trade for d Winners. He's a marginal starter,
- 4:04Speaker 2: a linebacker coming over from the forty nine ers, where
- 4:07Speaker 2: the Cowboys were terrible linebacker. Last season, their secondary was
- 4:11Speaker 2: a total mess. Then at Jalen Thompson's safety Kobe durant A.
- 4:16Speaker 2: It's more of a third corner from the Rams. He
- 4:18Speaker 2: may started Caleb Downs, who could play nickel, he could
- 4:21Speaker 2: play safety. He's got a lot of versatility. Devin Moore,
- 4:24Speaker 2: I know Greg co Selviho worked for us at Inside
- 4:26Speaker 2: the Birds. You know him from NFL films. Greg liked him.
- 4:29Speaker 2: He's a fourth round corner from Florida. Yeah, so they've
- 4:32Speaker 2: had an interesting off season. They've added talent, no doubt
- 4:35Speaker 2: about it. But just because you add a lot of
- 4:37Speaker 2: talent doesn't mean you're going to be great. Now, the
- 4:39Speaker 2: odds makers have them to win the NFC East at
- 4:42Speaker 2: plus monety plus two thirty, So if you bet one hundred,
- 4:45Speaker 2: you get your hundred back and you get to urn
- 4:48Speaker 2: thirty dollars. So they're a long shot to make the playoffs. Now,
- 4:52Speaker 2: this is interesting. They're only plus one oh five one hundred,
- 4:56Speaker 2: which kinds odd to me, Like, and we'll get to
- 5:00Speaker 2: their wind total. We have to do the Eagles wind
- 5:02Speaker 2: total also later, but they're plus one hundred to make
- 5:05Speaker 2: the playoffs. To not make it, they're minus one twenty,
- 5:09Speaker 2: which I'm not bullish on the Cowboys. I've heard great
- 5:12Speaker 2: things about Christian Parker. I worry about the talent with
- 5:16Speaker 2: that team. The thing, Mike, why have they not been competitive?
- 5:22Speaker 2: The football character they've lacked. That They've gotten better football
- 5:25Speaker 2: character players in there. That'll help, but they until they
- 5:28Speaker 2: prove that they haven't done it yet. They're minus one twenty.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Not to make it where I would agree with that.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Their win total, Mike. This is what is interesting. Their
- 5:36Speaker 2: win total, the over, Mike, the overs plus one thirty five,
- 5:40Speaker 2: the ounthers plus one twenty five. To me, there are
- 5:43Speaker 2: around eight or nine wins. So the money right now
- 5:46Speaker 2: is the money is now. It's slightly on the like.
- 5:52Speaker 2: There's more money being vested now on the over. That's
- 5:55Speaker 2: why it's it's very tight, Mike. They're plus one thirty five.
- 5:58Speaker 2: If I could take one of them, that would be
- 6:00Speaker 2: the under. I just don't think, Mike, I don't think
- 6:04Speaker 2: there are I just I'm not buying them. I'm not
- 6:06Speaker 2: buying them, to be honest with you.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Interesting. I know last year as you mentioned their offense
- 6:12Speaker 1: with the Pickens and they added there. Yeah, well, yeah,
- 6:16Speaker 1: they have as you she said, they're very All eleven
- 6:19Speaker 1: guys are back there now, so they have that full
- 6:21Speaker 1: year of their defense. They made some trade last year.
- 6:23Speaker 1: It's gonna be interesting to see downs in that defense.
- 6:26Speaker 1: They traded Pickens and got Lawrence halfway through the season,
- 6:30Speaker 1: so we'll see if their defense could get better. That
- 6:32Speaker 1: number is over under eight and a half for Dallas
- 6:36Speaker 1: for the win total. They're they're plus two thirty to
- 6:39Speaker 1: win the nfcast. But correct me if I'm wrong. On
- 6:41Speaker 1: Friday when we spoke, you like Washington's.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Numbers, Well, I like the Giants, Mike, I like the Giants.
- 6:47Speaker 2: So let's go over that. Let's do the Washington first
- 6:52Speaker 2: to win the NFC is. Yeah, they're a long shot
- 6:54Speaker 2: at plus five hundred. I do like them to bounce back. Look,
- 6:58Speaker 2: they were so beat up. Now. One of the things
- 7:00Speaker 2: that they did, which was bad, they knew they made
- 7:02Speaker 2: a mistake. Adam Peters, the GM admitted it. They were
- 7:05Speaker 2: the oldest defense, excuse the oldest team in the National
- 7:08Speaker 2: Football League, especially defensively. Well, they've corrected that. They've got
- 7:12Speaker 2: they had a bullsh off season with younger players added,
- 7:16Speaker 2: They're plus five hundred to win the vision to make
- 7:18Speaker 2: the playoffs. Their plus two to twenty five, yes, against
- 7:21Speaker 2: their minus two to seventy five. I mean, look, they're
- 7:25Speaker 2: a long shot to do anything, to be honest with you,
- 7:28Speaker 2: in terms of making the playoffs. But eight wins is realistic.
- 7:31Speaker 2: I see a big bounce back of the win total.
- 7:35Speaker 2: The over is minus one thirty, so the money's on
- 7:38Speaker 2: the over. A lot of it's being bad over. That's
- 7:40Speaker 2: why it's minus one thirty and the unders plus one ten. Yeah.
- 7:45Speaker 2: I do like the over, I have to admit it.
- 7:47Speaker 2: I do like the over seven and a half. And
- 7:49Speaker 2: then the Giants, by the way, go ahead.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Yes, seven and a half is the over. There for
- 7:53Speaker 1: Washington who was bagged up last year big time.
- 7:58Speaker 2: There were worst injuries that Wuation by far in the
- 8:02Speaker 2: NFC East, and they were. They had the third most
- 8:04Speaker 2: amount of injuries game games missed in the National Football League.
- 8:09Speaker 2: So that's bad. Now the Giants, this is the one
- 8:12Speaker 2: I like. Now let me explain this one. We'll let
- 8:14Speaker 2: me go through it. To win the NFC East, they're
- 8:16Speaker 2: plus seven hundred. No, I'm not picking them to win
- 8:18Speaker 2: the division plus two sixty to make the playoffs minus
- 8:21Speaker 2: three twenty five. No, So everything is on the under. Okay, everything,
- 8:26Speaker 2: excuse me, is on the They're not going to make it.
- 8:29Speaker 2: The win total plus one hundred is the over under
- 8:34Speaker 2: under seven and a half is minus one twenty, so
- 8:36Speaker 2: it's being bet under. I like the over plus one hundred.
- 8:40Speaker 2: John Harribal, like his brother Jim, shot the world in
- 8:42Speaker 2: year one. I see Gihn and Harriball doing the same thing.
- 8:46Speaker 2: I really like the Giants, the surprise people, and I
- 8:49Speaker 2: know in your area, Mike, I know the Giant fans listening.
- 8:52Speaker 2: I really like the offseason they've had, not only the coach,
- 8:55Speaker 2: the type of offense they're going to bring in, but
- 8:58Speaker 2: the offseason in terms of adding talent. The one issue
- 9:01Speaker 2: that I have with them is they did not add
- 9:04Speaker 2: a significant piece of running back. That concerns me. Kim
- 9:08Speaker 2: Scattabo is coming back from a major injury, the ankle dislocation,
- 9:13Speaker 2: that that very bad knee ankle injury, leg injury, Tyro
- 9:18Speaker 2: and Tracy's a change of Devin Segretary is a he's
- 9:21Speaker 2: a backup. They didn't they didn't add anyone of note
- 9:24Speaker 2: Mike that that's a problem for me. That's that's one issue.
- 9:27Speaker 2: They adjusts the offensive line with mal Noah Alumin oil
- 9:31Speaker 2: State at right, tap Isiah likely a tight end, is
- 9:33Speaker 2: super athlete, could run catch Patrickcarr, the fullback comer from Baltimore,
- 9:39Speaker 2: with Harbes several changes on defense. I like them to
- 9:43Speaker 2: be the big surprise this season.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Uh you know, and I think a lot of people
- 9:47Speaker 1: are in the same boat as you're in, is Harball,
- 9:49Speaker 1: and that gives them instant credibility, something that they've really
- 9:53Speaker 1: lacked at that, you know, at the head coaching role
- 9:56Speaker 1: for ran God. So going back to what what's the
- 10:00Speaker 1: name man? I completely blanked on Claughlan Tom Coughlin. Yeah, yeah,
- 10:05Speaker 1: I mean they really haven't had a high I don't
- 10:08Speaker 1: say high profile, but like a really good head coach
- 10:11Speaker 1: since Coughland. They took a lot of shots with Joe
- 10:14Speaker 1: Judge and some others.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Yeah, Joe Judge Funk who's from Philly, you know, from
- 10:21Speaker 2: Lansdale area. I mean, he's a really good college assistant coaches.
- 10:24Speaker 2: He's not NFL head coach.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Macado.
- 10:27Speaker 2: What's that MACKI doo? Yeah. Ben Melk with a big
- 10:31Speaker 2: suit when he got introduced, and it isn't funny that
- 10:34Speaker 2: the Eagles wanted him badly and I remember talking to
- 10:36Speaker 2: them at the time. They tried to get him to
- 10:38Speaker 2: turn around off the Jersey Turnpike. He did not exactly
- 10:41Speaker 2: for them, Yeah he did. And it's funny how things
- 10:43Speaker 2: work out. You never really know. But yeah, to me,
- 10:48Speaker 2: to me right now, the Giants or my upset special
- 10:52Speaker 2: the Eagles, by the way, Mike, we should finish it off.
- 10:54Speaker 2: We didn't talk about it. Their win total is ten
- 10:57Speaker 2: and a half, so there. It's it's interesting the odds
- 11:00Speaker 2: aren't like just to win the division. They're not too
- 11:04Speaker 2: different from the other teams. But the win total is
- 11:07Speaker 2: ten and a half. The over is plus one ten
- 11:10Speaker 2: the money it's being bet. That's why it's minus one
- 11:13Speaker 2: thirty on the under, so that most people think they'll
- 11:15Speaker 2: be around ten wins. Yeah, it's so hard to figure out.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Like Jeff and I did a show today on the
- 11:22Speaker 2: Eagles quarterback Depth and we do a depth chart contract
- 11:25Speaker 2: show and the outlook on it. Based on the people
- 11:28Speaker 2: we spoke to around the National Football League, there's not
- 11:32Speaker 2: a lot of optimism that these Eagles offense will work.
- 11:34Speaker 2: It's not that it's not a good scheme, which it's
- 11:38Speaker 2: complete departure that whatever hurts is played in. It's that
- 11:41Speaker 2: Hurts just won't be able to function well enough. I'm
- 11:44Speaker 2: in the minority. I think it will because I know
- 11:46Speaker 2: that Jalen will know as soon as he starts practicing
- 11:49Speaker 2: later this month that based on what he knows and
- 11:52Speaker 2: based on what he's going to see on the field,
- 11:54Speaker 2: the ball's got to come out quickly. I just feel
- 11:57Speaker 2: like it's this is it. He's got to do it.
- 12:00Speaker 2: We'll see if it happens, Mike, But there are questions
- 12:03Speaker 2: around the national footbally whether the Seagus offense is gonna
- 12:05Speaker 2: work with quarterback.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Well, that'll that will be a very interesting storyline obviously
- 12:09Speaker 1: throughout one storyline on each of before we get you
- 12:11Speaker 1: out of here, Dallas up to six new starters. On defense.
- 12:15Speaker 1: I mentioned Lawrence, he was the draft pick. Quentinin Williams
- 12:17Speaker 1: is who they traded for in the middle of last year.
- 12:20Speaker 1: But they you know, they got Malchi Lawrence that they drafted,
- 12:24Speaker 1: They've got Caleb Downs that they drafted, Quinton Williams that
- 12:27Speaker 1: they added from last year. We'll see what as arak
- 12:29Speaker 1: who does in the second round, but they're gonna have
- 12:31Speaker 1: a completely new look there. And then you know, we
- 12:33Speaker 1: talked about Washington something different for them. You know last
- 12:36Speaker 1: year they had like Deebo Samuel, they went with a
- 12:39Speaker 1: whole you know, they got rid of Clinkcliff Kingsbury. So
- 12:42Speaker 1: they're gonna have a new look on offense as well.
- 12:44Speaker 1: So the Giants might be the team that everybody's kind
- 12:47Speaker 1: of sleeping on, as these numbers kind of.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Indicate, Yeah, they do. And look Washington, they feel really
- 12:54Speaker 2: good about their offensive line. They're gonna bring back most
- 12:56Speaker 2: of their starters. They have a new tight end Chicken Konquo,
- 13:00Speaker 2: they have two new running backs. They've got a lot
- 13:02Speaker 2: of new defensive players. You also have to understand when
- 13:06Speaker 2: you have a lot of roster upheaval, it doesn't always
- 13:08Speaker 2: work and it takes time for it all to gel.
- 13:11Speaker 2: But I like how they're going to bounce back the division.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Here's what we'll leave you with this, Mike. The division
- 13:16Speaker 2: is going to be more competitive. I'm just telling you
- 13:18Speaker 2: it's going to be more competitive. How much more depends
- 13:20Speaker 2: on a lot of factors. Injuries, of course, maturity of
- 13:25Speaker 2: the players, all the new When you look at as
- 13:29Speaker 2: you said, watch this is a new play caller, a
- 13:31Speaker 2: first time play caller like Sean Mannion who's really new
- 13:34Speaker 2: to this, new to coaching, so you never know quite
- 13:37Speaker 2: how that David Blau who's only in a third year coaching.
- 13:40Speaker 2: I mean, that's that's really small giants with Harbes downs,
- 13:45Speaker 2: with the new coordinator. Look at all the coaching up
- 13:47Speaker 2: people in the division.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Should be fun to keep an eye on it all.
- 13:50Speaker 1: And of course you can do it at the Inside
- 13:52Speaker 1: of the Birds podcast on all podcasting platforms and right
- 13:55Speaker 1: here during football for all off season long into training
- 13:59Speaker 1: camp and through the Eagles season on the Sports Batch.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Adam thanks man, all right, Adam Kaplan. Of course are
