- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Evans Clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Do. You ever get nervous for job
- 0:42interviews? Many people do.
- 0:44It's out of here. And the client session that
- 0:47you're about to listen to had a high level of anxiety for
- 0:51interviews because of previous interviews where they felt very
- 0:56anxious, very on edge. And they didn't do as well in
- 1:01the interviews as they thought. Which meant that that what if
- 1:05thinking then applies to future interviews?
- 1:08What if I mess up? What if I can't answer the
- 1:10questions? What if they don't like me?
- 1:12All of those things create additional anxiety in a future
- 1:16situation. That's known as anticipatory
- 1:19fear. So you can have a loop here
- 1:22because if you are looking for a job, mostly there is a need to
- 1:27be. Interviewed.
- 1:28For it, you're evaluated. But what most people don't
- 1:31realize is that interviews are a two way evaluation.
- 1:36You are evaluating the opportunity just as much as they
- 1:39are evaluating you. Now this particular client knew
- 1:43a lot about their work and when they were in informal reviews or
- 1:48appraisals, they were fine. They were very relaxed.
- 1:50They didn't need to prepare what to being be asked about.
- 1:53They could just talk about what they do and all the value they
- 1:56create naturally. But job interviews felt
- 1:59different, and I see this a lot when I've worked with people
- 2:03where they've got high levels of anxiety.
- 2:04There's a frame that The thing is different to skills and
- 2:08competencies they already have. And there's an evaluation that
- 2:11is a high stakes environment rather than a low stakes
- 2:15environment. So this hypnosis session has
- 2:17elements of regression to resource states, disassociation
- 2:22from certain things, where you get to see yourself doing well,
- 2:26preparing and in the interview, and then a first person
- 2:29perspective of that interview going well.
- 2:32There's quite a bit going on here and it's going to be most
- 2:35useful if you have either an upcoming interview or you're
- 2:39thinking about applying for a job at some point in the future.
- 2:42Then you'll get more value from this session.
- 2:45Some of the references are very much related to the client that
- 2:48I was working with. So if you do like the idea of a
- 2:51bespoke session created entirely for you, there will be a link in
- 2:55the description. You can schedule a free
- 2:57consultation call, we'll have a chat, and it might be that we
- 2:59end up working together and then I create a hypnosis session.
- 3:03Not just send you a recording, but you actually experience it
- 3:05live. I think a lot of people don't
- 3:07realize that these recordings here, it wasn't that I created a
- 3:11recording and sent it to the client.
- 3:13The client was in front of me. So sometimes if you're watching
- 3:17the video version of this, you'll see my eyes scanning the
- 3:19facial expressions of the client that I'm working with because
- 3:23they're in front of me. I'm doing it to them.
- 3:25And that's why it feels like more real hypnosis than just a
- 3:29recording that is just recorded straight into a mixing desk.
- 3:33It was done for a person. So if you feel like that might
- 3:35be interesting for you, there will be a link in the
- 3:37description where you can schedule that free consultation.
- 3:40For now, though, you might get some value from this One South.
- 3:43Find a quiet, comfortable place where you won't be disturbed.
- 3:46Relax and enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in and as you
- 4:27breathe in, breathe in a wonderful feeling of calm and
- 4:31relaxation and as you exhale, feel a sense of release,
- 4:44releasing any tension in your body.
- 4:48Most people don't realize that stress, tension and anxiety
- 4:57changes how the body feels. When the body changes, those
- 5:04feelings change also. I want you to get a sense that
- 5:10as you breathe in for deeper and you exhale for longer, you start
- 5:20to awaken that diaphragm. When you breathe out for longer
- 5:26than you breathe in, it's like a switch for the brain.
- 5:34That alpha state, the alert state starts to switch initially
- 5:42to beta and then Theta. You feel really relaxed,
- 5:49sometimes delta. So just imagine positioning your
- 5:55body in such a way that it's conducive to deep, deep
- 6:04relaxation, maybe in a comfortable chair or maybe in a
- 6:11bed. And I want you to feel that
- 6:16you're breathing in for longer and exhaling for longer.
- 6:24Each breath takes you deeper and deeper.
- 6:32Relaxed, that's in. And the deeper you breathe, the
- 6:41more relaxed you feel. And the more relaxed you feel,
- 6:48the deeper you breathe. And I want you to imagine a
- 6:53moment in your past where you felt the most relaxed.
- 7:01Maybe you're on holiday, lying on a beach or maybe in a spa or
- 7:08maybe somewhere else. I just imagine floating back to
- 7:13that moment where you felt so relaxed that's in eyelids, heavy
- 7:24jaw, loose neck and shoulders relaxing.
- 7:29That's in almost like your whole body is calming down.
- 7:38If there's a dial that's high alert at one end and drowsy and
- 7:44sleepy at the other, just dial it down.
- 7:49Not so you drift up to sleep, but it's that everything feels
- 7:54calm, relaxed and slow. And while you imagine being in
- 8:00that place of pure relaxation. And they count downwards from
- 8:055:00 to 1:00. And I want you to remember a
- 8:09time, the time when you didn't know anyone and yet you made
- 8:16friends quickly and easily. Initially just observing
- 8:23yourself as five goes to four, drifting deeper 3 and then two
- 8:29deeper still, and then one. Imagine being an observer to
- 8:36that version of you, perhaps in a new country, not knowing
- 8:41anyone, and notice how calm, comfortable and confident you
- 8:49were because you made the evaluation.
- 8:56That you would make friends, easily, find work.
- 9:02You weren't daunted, you were excited.
- 9:06You had an assessment that your abilities exceeded the
- 9:12challenge, and that's what made it so easily, because that
- 9:20evaluation created a wonderful self fulfilling prophecy.
- 9:29But imagine if you went to that same place, worried that you
- 9:33might not make any friends, worried that you might not get
- 9:37any work in a country lonely, that could also create a self
- 9:45fulfilling prophecy. But it didn't.
- 9:50In that environment, you were calm, confident and resourceful.
- 9:57You went outside of your comfort zone, going to places you'd
- 10:00never been before, speaking to people that were strangers.
- 10:05And yet you can recall that those strangers became friends,
- 10:11and if they didn't, no big deal. I don't want you to imagine the
- 10:19memory where you were at, your most confident, most calm, most
- 10:23resourceful, and then step into that memory.
- 10:30Feel that any conversation that didn't lead anywhere was no big
- 10:36deal, a shot to nothing. You knew that if you did the
- 10:41right things, felt calm and comfortable, making friends and
- 10:47finding work would be easy. And it was.
- 10:53And I want you to notice how that feels, how you were
- 10:55breathing at the time, feeling calm and confident in a
- 10:59dialogue. The assessments, something along
- 11:04the lines of it's fine, I know how to do this, it will all be
- 11:11all right, and it was. And if your unconscious is
- 11:18making the assessment that how you were back then would be
- 11:24useful for a future situation like a job interview, let me
- 11:30know about nodding your head. And it might be more formal and
- 11:39less social, but it's still conversations with people based
- 11:44on two way evaluations that could lead to new ways of
- 11:51working. If it works out, then great, and
- 11:56if it doesn't, then it wasn't meant to be.
- 12:03That's it. And I want you to imagine
- 12:09somewhere that you remember from back then.
- 12:13But I want you to imagine a table, and on that table is a
- 12:16virtual reality headset from the future, something that didn't
- 12:22exist at that moment in time that will in the future.
- 12:29And I want you to imagine as you put the virtual reality headset
- 12:31on, it loads a game. It's simply called the
- 12:40interview. But I want you to feel that this
- 12:45is going to be fun, challenging, because there is a premise to
- 12:51this game and it isn't to get the job.
- 12:57The premise is to feel calm, comfortable, and enjoy the
- 13:02process. Because the more you enjoy the
- 13:05process, the more likely you are to get an offer.
- 13:11An offer that you can accept but don't have to.
- 13:15All the options, no obligations. Just imagine it says level 1
- 13:27like you're teleported somewhere.
- 13:29Just imagine you're teleported to a place that you're familiar
- 13:32with, maybe a laptop screen, a tablet screen.
- 13:38And then you see a team's call, the Zoom call, the Google
- 13:43meeting. This is a remote interview, your
- 13:49cameras on, their cameras on. And just imagine 2 interviewers,
- 13:57maybe they're dressed in suits and maybe not.
- 13:59And I want you to imagine that this is a job that's take it or
- 14:06leave it. You'd like the offer, but you
- 14:11don't need the offer. And just imagine they ask you
- 14:16some of those standard questions.
- 14:21They tell you they've got your CV, they're asking you about how
- 14:27long you work somewhere, why you left.
- 14:31And just feel that you have all the answers, like they're there
- 14:35on the tip of the tongue and you're not concerned that things
- 14:43have to be in a particular order.
- 14:46I want you to tap into this feeling that it doesn't matter
- 14:50what they ask because you're ready for it.
- 14:55You feel that way. Let me know about nodding your
- 14:56head. That's it.
- 14:59And I want you to get a sense that they're friendly yet
- 15:05professional. They ask you questions that
- 15:09relate to things you know well. And I want you to notice how you
- 15:15feel. Maybe you feel calm and
- 15:20confident. Maybe there's a tiny bit of
- 15:22anxiety, but just you dial down the anxiety and dial up the
- 15:26confidence. Imagine how it would feel to be
- 15:31on that call, feeling in a flow state.
- 15:36And if there's any tinges of anxiety, you can just have a sip
- 15:41of a drink or a long outward breath and it calms you down,
- 15:48recalibrates you. And then imagine the interview
- 15:52getting to the end. They'll tell you they get back
- 15:57to you in a few days. And I want you to get a sense
- 16:02that you want detached from the outcome.
- 16:07You will make evaluations based on the process.
- 16:13You either win or you learn. Either it went the way that you
- 16:18want, well, there are things that you could do differently
- 16:23that may help the next time. That's right, feel that it went
- 16:40well and then see the screen change to level 2.
- 16:48Find yourself back there in front of that screen, but this
- 16:53time it's for a role that you really want.
- 16:57You don't have to get it, you just want it.
- 17:00Imagine there's three interviewers, all dressed very
- 17:04formally. They've got more serious facial
- 17:09expressions. They're offering more complex
- 17:15questions and going into more detail about your experiences.
- 17:22And yet this feels like a walk in the park because your
- 17:27experience exceeds the demands of these questions.
- 17:33For you, this isn't an interview.
- 17:36It's a conversation about your experience and what you have to
- 17:41offer. Nothing here is challenging.
- 17:50I want you to get a sense that at any point in time, you could
- 17:54do something to make you feel more confident.
- 17:58Whenever you clench your fist, you can feel strong, feel
- 18:07confident. And you could do that without
- 18:11the people interviewing you even knowing what you're doing, they
- 18:16can't see it. If you feel that you're a bit
- 18:21too nervous, you could just you wiggle your toes and you feel
- 18:24more relaxed and calm. You could take a glass of water
- 18:32and that's a reset or a long outward breath out.
- 18:39Feels like a release valve. Any pent up tension or nerves
- 18:44just leave your body in that outward breath, feeling more and
- 18:53more relaxed. Notice how in this one you are
- 18:58also asking questions, seeing if the role matches what you want,
- 19:07Even tough questions. Nothing phases you and it's fine
- 19:13to say. I'm not sure.
- 19:17Let me think about that and then follow that with something that
- 19:24you're proud of. You're very capable in.
- 19:28It gets to the end of the interview and you see some clues
- 19:35that it went well. Smiles head, nods.
- 19:41And then imagine something on the screen saying you've passed
- 19:47level 2, Level 3 starting. And just imagine that Level 3,
- 19:57you're arriving at a building. You go to reception, they ask
- 20:05who you're there to see, and maybe you wait in the reception
- 20:10or a waiting room and maybe there's other people and maybe
- 20:14there isn't. I want you to get a sense that
- 20:19this is an in person interview with two interviewers.
- 20:26They're friendly, but with formal, structured questions,
- 20:33and I want you to get the feeling that you prefer it this
- 20:35way. You prefer having a conversation
- 20:39with a real person face to face rather than through a screen.
- 20:45Maybe you have a cup of tea, a coffee, a water, and whenever
- 20:52you take a sip, I want you to feel that is resetting,
- 20:57recalibrating. Whenever you take a long breath
- 21:01out, you're releasing any nerves, any feeling of worry or
- 21:09stress. I want you to get a sense.
- 21:13Then you can wiggle your toes and nobody would know what
- 21:18you're doing. If you can't clench your fist,
- 21:22you can just pinch a finger and a thumb together and you will
- 21:27immediately feel more resourceful, feel more
- 21:31comfortable, feel like this is just a conversation that could
- 21:35lead to an offer. If it does, great.
- 21:39And if it doesn't, no big deal because you either win or you
- 21:45learn. It either goes how you want it
- 21:49to go, or you get invaluable experience that helps the next
- 21:55time. Because I want you to.
- 21:58Imagine if you were playing this game in reality, two or three
- 22:05interviews every day. I wonder how many days until
- 22:11interviews don't bother you at all.
- 22:15Sometimes in a movie they have a montage scene where time
- 22:21collapses, where months are revealed in minutes before level
- 22:302 starts and then Level 3 and just before level 4.
- 22:36I want you to imagine there's always a montage.
- 22:41Imagine day after day, interview after interview, getting better
- 22:45and better each time, calmer each time, or confident each
- 22:50time. Questions that you were asked
- 22:53before, you now know how to answer them better until you see
- 23:00yourself with an expression. This is a game you know how to
- 23:05play well. This is now fun for you.
- 23:09You enjoy it. This is well within your
- 23:13capabilities. Step into that version of you
- 23:18and field and it's like you've done two or three interviews
- 23:24every day for months until nothing can phase you.
- 23:30Doesn't matter if there's an expression of disinterest,
- 23:34doesn't matter if you don't have an answer to a question.
- 23:38Nothing phases you, and when you feel that you've activated that
- 23:44version of you, let me know by nodding your head.
- 23:49That's it. And then it says on that VR
- 23:52headset Level 4 commencing, I want you to think of the most
- 23:58challenging interview possible. And yet you're unfazed.
- 24:03Unflappable. You want it, but not so badly
- 24:09that it makes you nervous. Imagine turning up to an in
- 24:13person interview and lots and lots of other people are there
- 24:20waiting to apply for exactly the same job.
- 24:27I want you to imagine that you're taking into a serious
- 24:30boardroom. 3 interviewers, all with stone cold faces.
- 24:38Very formal, serious questions, tricky questions.
- 24:43Sometimes they're abrupt. They stop you before you've had
- 24:47a chance to finish. They challenge your answers.
- 24:51They're cynical, sceptical. And yet you feel fine.
- 24:58This is like training at altitude.
- 25:01If you can feel calm and confident in an interview like
- 25:04this, a standard normal interview feels like nothing.
- 25:12It feels easy. Sometimes people run around with
- 25:19ankle weights so that when they take them off, they feel light
- 25:23when they run. This is the purpose of this
- 25:27level, not to expect serious difficult interview, but just a
- 25:35no. That if you can feel confident,
- 25:40calm even when seeing facial expressions of disinterest or
- 25:45disapproval, and yet you still carry on, then it means that no
- 25:52interview can bother you. Imagine getting a question that
- 25:59you simply don't know how to answer, and imagine responding.
- 26:05I don't have an answer for that, but I do know I'm a hard worker,
- 26:09I'm experienced, I won't need training.
- 26:13I can hit the ground running and see that they are impressed with
- 26:18the answer. Because sometimes difficult
- 26:22questions aren't there to elicit difficult answers.
- 26:28They just want to see how you cope with pressure and feel that
- 26:33you understand the game. Now it's a game of two way
- 26:40evaluations. They're evaluating you and
- 26:45you're evaluating them. And even if you get an offer,
- 26:50you don't have to accept it. And I want you to imagine doing
- 26:54this for a year until nothing in an interview can phase you at
- 27:03all. I want you to think of something
- 27:09from your past that the first time you did it, you were
- 27:13nervous, maybe like driving on a motorway, and you did it few
- 27:18times until it was just normal and natural.
- 27:25And just apply that way of thinking to interviews and
- 27:30imagine you've done it every day for a year until it feels
- 27:34benign, natural, and effortless. And when you get to that level,
- 27:42see on the screen, level 4 completed, you are ready and you
- 27:51are ready. Your life has made you ready.
- 27:56Your experiences have prepared you.
- 28:00You have all of the resources necessary to have a conversation
- 28:04about a situation where you can help them and they can help you.
- 28:11And if neither of you can help each other, then it's just an
- 28:16interview that doesn't go anywhere.
- 28:21When you're ready to start thinking about it as
- 28:23conversations about things you know a lot about, notice how
- 28:28much easier it feels. You've got so many ways to feel
- 28:34comfortable, and I want you to get a sense that whatever
- 28:39happens, you either win or you learn.
- 28:48I want you to imagine taking the VR headset off, putting it down
- 28:54and floating back to that version of you relaxed in that
- 28:57place where you've felt really relaxed.
- 29:03I want you to feel that you have awakened and trained the neural
- 29:06pathways that now know how to link calm, confidence, and even
- 29:11enjoyment into this thing that some people call interviews.
- 29:17But you think more of professional conversations and
- 29:24you're good at conversations, so interviews are now easy as you
- 29:31accept that thought fielded. Each and every time it gets
- 29:38easier and easier and easier. Very soon I'm going to count
- 29:48from 1:00 to 10:00. If you're listening to this in
- 29:53the daytime or a time when you want to awaken, when I count
- 29:58from 1:00 to 10:00, you will awaken feeling alert, calm, and
- 30:01confident. But if you're listening to this
- 30:05in bed, head on a pillow, ready to drift off into a dreamlike
- 30:09sleep, then when I count from one to 10, each number will just
- 30:15take you deeper and deeper brain wave shifting so that you can
- 30:24drift off into a wonderful, relaxing, rejuvenating sleep.
- 30:33Starting to count 123, 456, 789 and 10.
