- 0:00On page 516, today's trait of kidusha of a person becoming a
- 0:04holy person, it is it's not something that can happen in the
- 0:08day. It's not something that a person
- 0:09could just jump 10 steps and say I want to become an individual
- 0:13of kidusha, which we explained is an elevated person has
- 0:17elements like him. Allah is not so connected to
- 0:20this physical world in a sense not so dependent on the physical
- 0:23world is able to live without certain elements and he's able
- 0:27to function in a very independent mindset.
- 0:29He says it only happens after one prepared himself.
- 0:33You know, that's more but meaning he prepared himself with
- 0:37all the steps that he gave in the beginning of the book, which
- 0:40were persons that here he's careful.
- 0:43He's that he's he's he's a alacrity.
- 0:47He's he's somewheres potash separates himself from things
- 0:50that are not necessary, not not from extra luxuries.
- 0:53He's a person who has your mood. He's has seen all those stages
- 0:58of a person. Hi, you got your mind, you got
- 1:00the head. It's not even born at all.
- 1:04It's very much outside. And even after all of that, he
- 1:07told us one attempts to become Kadosh says to himself, I'm not
- 1:12going to limit myself from things.
- 1:14I just want to be elevated in a sense.
- 1:16I'm not so dependent on anything physical in this world.
- 1:19And I say dependent does not mean you can avoid eating or
- 1:22drinking and sleeping in the basics.
- 1:23It just means that you turn these things into holier and
- 1:27elevated items he deserved. You have all the preparation and
- 1:31you have this attempt, then Hashem helps you in your bear
- 1:34the dabek fedonka vava and make sure to connect to Hashem with
- 1:38strong strength to have off love Hashem vows in my Iran the great
- 1:42fear bascalat kadu la toys brach.
- 1:44I'm based on an understanding of what Hashem is vote similar Muto
- 1:48and realizing the elevated state of God and wanting to cling to
- 1:51that. By separating yourself from the
- 1:53basics in this world from the exorcism throat.
- 1:56You have freed a small millionaire homemade Mato souls,
- 2:00but surely be able to peel himself away from down here's
- 2:05very physical way. O behold the tab the whole to
- 2:10the tab and solely it'll be by every move that he makes and
- 2:13every every function of his life.
- 2:15You have an livable he'll guide his heart, direct his mind, El
- 2:20matsfuner hit by hit tabu tukuto hamit hamiti he'll be able to
- 2:28attain himself and connect himself to the clear but hidden
- 2:32path of me connected to Hashem alone.
- 2:35I chiere I love ruach me my room until the person will reach a
- 2:39state that will have upon him a spirit from on high.
- 2:43We had a skiing abboree Paraka chamora shimo rest of Shakina on
- 2:46this person. I love Kimoshi as God does for
- 2:51all his great people. Vazier kemala, Hashema, masha
- 2:54and then the person will have malaq level status of all
- 2:58mahasab and all his actions. I feel Ashif Alim even the
- 3:02mandina actions like Ashmeen and the physical ones, Keiko Barnot
- 3:07Vavadot and every action that he makes will be a similar to
- 3:12serving us some. Again, this is the highest level
- 3:16imaginable. It's way beyond a regular
- 3:19presence frame of mind. It's the level of Kudu Shah of
- 3:23one becoming holy. And he's telling us I'm talking
- 3:25about levels that are Angel like levels.
- 3:27And I'm telling you it's a very interesting thing that one on
- 3:30this very earth that we live on can climb there.
- 3:33It's not true. For someone to believe I'm
- 3:37physical, I'm mundane, I live with material and therefore I
- 3:42remain material. It's not correct.
- 3:44I have the degree to climb, climb all the way up to Kedusha
- 3:48to the level that I can have this shakina on me.
- 3:50The way he says it, I sham A Reg shakina on him and he says
- 3:54you'll be like a malach in the hard way.
- 3:56So is this. Is this like you'd say people
- 3:59used to fast like twice a week and things like that?
- 4:01Like this is the time period when he's.
- 4:03Writing it or people did fast even after his time period, but
- 4:07he's telling you would I even change one iota of your life.
- 4:10You have to become less connected to this world.
- 4:12You can't say I always need steak and I always need a
- 4:15perfect breakfast and I always need the perfect weather and
- 4:18also expect to have this. It's not possible that much, no,
- 4:22but it's not literally dependent, David, on your point,
- 4:24which is I am a person who's, you know, holding back from
- 4:29physical in a lot of ways to attain this level.
- 4:32That is not the key to this point.
- 4:35The key to this point is on a person who developed and
- 4:38absorbed in my life a very clear understanding of Hashem in this
- 4:42world and a very clear track, a following God in this world and
- 4:46a very clear willingness and interest to be connected to that
- 4:49Hashem. And if you're in that mood and
- 4:52that mindset, and by the way, it's more about the mindset than
- 4:54it is that refraining, the refraining is cut you part of
- 4:58the way, but the refraining in and itself is just pretty sure
- 5:01it's just separating. This is absorbing and attaining
- 5:06way higher heights. And the only way you get there
- 5:10is through the whole process. And the process includes
- 5:13partially refraining, but more importantly, it it includes an
- 5:18understanding of Hashem, of Irad of Hashem, awe of God, an
- 5:23interest of being like God and interesting and following God's
- 5:25way. And what ends up happening is
- 5:27all those things lead you toward a mindset.
- 5:30And the key over here is mindset more than action, lead you
- 5:33toward a mindset. That is, I am fully In Sync with
- 5:36Hashem's way. I'm being like Hashem in a
- 5:39sense. I'm trying to follow Hashem.
- 5:42I'm trying to act the way He wants me to act again.
- 5:45But I can't just say that. And I can't just think that I
- 5:48have to live there. And the way I live there is that
- 5:50my mind became gear toward the Hashem for her mind.
- 5:54And that required stages. It required steps.
- 5:57It doesn't happen overnight, and it doesn't just happen by
- 6:00withholding or by lurching for jumping forward to want to be
- 6:04like Hashem. It happens through training to
- 6:07development, to understanding of God and an interest in being
- 6:11like Him and following Him. Then you're able to attain the
- 6:15level where you can translate every single thing that goes on
- 6:19to your life in your life toward Hashem.
- 6:22Like we said the other day, is it easy for someone to really
- 6:25say, I'm eating fashion and I'm sleeping fashion like Darren
- 6:29Bomb tells you to do, Or I'm working for Hashem, taking care
- 6:33of my family, fashem, taking care of myself for Hashem I am.
- 6:38Every word that I say is some way or another geared toward
- 6:41God. Is it easy for someone to say
- 6:43that? No, but it does happen with this
- 6:47overall training process, which is an understanding of how much
- 6:51God is in this world and a wiring of how much I am
- 6:54following him. And then the realization that I
- 6:57want to have Kyusha, which means I want to elevate my life.
- 7:02I do not like the idea of being a very mundane person.
- 7:06I don't like. I'll give you a classic example
- 7:08which came to my mind last night.
- 7:10All right, of course we're all following the games, right?
- 7:14We all care who wins. You know what games are talking
- 7:17about the championship game, the NBA championships.
- 7:22OK, fine. So the following game.
- 7:25So what came to mind as the following is that Robert
- 7:28Scheinberg, Robert was well known and when he lived in New
- 7:31York, when he would grow up as a kid, he was a Yankee fan, all
- 7:35right. And he once said the following
- 7:38comment, you know, he went on to learn and he went from America
- 7:42toward went to Europe. He learned in Europe and he came
- 7:45back, got married here, built the family here and then moved
- 7:48to Israel, built the Uju Shiva in Israel on and on.
- 7:52Rabbi that she is well known to be an unbelievable but to me,
- 7:55which means he left all day and all night and he wrote books and
- 7:59forget it. And he lived to 100 and
- 8:01something. And he would say people would
- 8:03ask me was Yankee fan. He was well known.
- 8:05He was once a Yankee fan and he would say I would bother him
- 8:09didn't bother him that he's still a Yankee fan.
- 8:11What bothered him was if he still cared, which means if it's
- 8:16still either reacted yes, very excited when they won or worse
- 8:21very upset when they lost that bothered.
- 8:23I mean he didn't have a comment per SE as to whether, and I was
- 8:27a fan. He more to comment on that mood.
- 8:30So last night personally, all right at 11 something a night
- 8:35when we found out that they lost right lost a game in the
- 8:38championship like that's not a big deal.
- 8:40Oh, that's part of the process. You lose a game in a series and
- 8:43Knicks lost one game, right? So in my heart, I had the, I had
- 8:47that thought lean to myself. Do I like sports?
- 8:51Yes. Do I follow?
- 8:52Yes. Am I excited when they win?
- 8:54Yes. But the mood, you know that
- 8:56negative mood that's that sits with you the whole night?
- 8:59That mood. I really feel like we should one
- 9:01day grow up. And if I'm almost 40 years old,
- 9:04I really feel like I should be growing up.
- 9:06I shouldn't carry that mood anymore.
- 9:08Should I enjoy a win? Yes.
- 9:10But I think I should go to function once they lose.
- 9:13I got to get to a point where that mood that sits with you,
- 9:17not like that Columbia mood that people have.
- 9:20I got to get past that. Not much I get past where you're
- 9:23trying to get yourself around it, huh?
- 9:26I, I think I'm almost there, but it's still over there.
- 9:30A lot of people, I think a lot of people last night were not
- 9:32passed. That's it.
- 9:34That's one game in middle of a series which they very, very
- 9:38confidently have in their hands. Anything had happened, but they
- 9:40really have it in their hands, under their strength and all
- 9:43that. And Even so and moves to this.
- 9:45So what am I telling you? I'm telling you that a person
- 9:47has to be able to get to a point and trying to get to a point
- 9:50when the elevation were they able to translate and have full
- 9:53control of their life to a point.
- 9:57Not that they can control the outcome at all.
- 9:59You can't control a day, a minute, an hour of your life.
- 10:01Nothing. But you could control yourself
- 10:04and not control. Huh.
- 10:05The rats controlled it. He can't.
- 10:07He can't control very good. You see that?
- 10:09That's how I remember. I was thinking about this.
- 10:12I remember in 1997 when my favorite hockey team lost to the
- 10:17New York team, and they lost in the second or third round.
- 10:21I can't remember. Was it the conference
- 10:23championship or was it semi? I remember and they lost.
- 10:28And the other team, the New York team, cheated.
- 10:31All right, OK, The Rangers cheated, in my opinion.
- 10:35And they were in the crease the whole time.
- 10:37And I remember and they knocked over the goalie and it got me so
- 10:41upset. And I remember as a kid crying,
- 10:44I would sit there and cry. I was crying after the Devils
- 10:48lost the conference championship to the Rangers, or I used to,
- 10:51what's it called a championship? Because the other guy, the big
- 10:55time New York guy that everyone loved, was in the crease the
- 10:58whole time. And I remember it got me so
- 11:00upset. I sat there by the dining room
- 11:02table and I cried like a baby. Admit it, I don't think I have
- 11:05that mood today, but still that that feeling probably isn't
- 11:09there even a job and that someone is realizing that you
- 11:12got to get past that. You got to become kadosh, which
- 11:15means you cannot have even one part of your life that is linked
- 11:19toward any feelings that are related to this world.
- 11:21You got to get past that point. And if you still have that,
- 11:25you're very much emotionally connected to anything physical
- 11:28in this world. You're not there yet.
- 11:30And the medal of kid to shop, it's my example.
- 11:32It's not a perfect example, but it's an oral example.
- 11:35And you can use a much more real scenario, which would be if,
- 11:40let's say something doesn't work out with the food to eat by a
- 11:43restaurant or the place that you stay or the weather that you're
- 11:47dealing with, or the comments someone makes in any of those
- 11:50examples. If that throws you for a loop.
- 11:53We're not on the level of kadusha.
- 11:54We need to be and we want to be a point at a point where every
- 11:58single element of our life is elevated, is told Hashem and is
- 12:04being like Hashem. That's what we want to get to.
- 12:06And then we have shahina literally resting us and we'll
- 12:10see not no materialism, no dependency.
- 12:16That's always the point. I remember once there was
- 12:19someone who you know the machnom pick out of what it says.
- 12:23What's the date of hatura pot or mayim or something to should eat
- 12:29eat bread with salt. I just have water and someone
- 12:33went to rob my insteps around. But that means I can't.
- 12:35I want to learn. I can't have a nice house.
- 12:38How about I can't? I can't enjoy a nice food.
- 12:40And everybody told them. You're misunderstanding the
- 12:44understanding of the machine. It's not that you can't have a
- 12:46nice house. It's not that you can't have
- 12:49good food. It's rather that you can't be
- 12:51dependent on a nice house or shouldn't be dependent.
- 12:55That means that if you end up living in a good house, you're
- 12:58great. But if it turns out for one day
- 13:00or whatever it is that the house is not perfect in a certain
- 13:03area, you're OK. You can enjoy a nice house,
- 13:07enjoy a nice meal, but you can't get furious if the meal doesn't
- 13:11taste awesome. You can't be Burning Man if this
- 13:14place that you stay, you looked on the pictures and look like
- 13:17it's going to be a great place. Then you look on the picture and
- 13:20it turns out you come to reality and the place is not as great as
- 13:24you thought. It's got mold.
- 13:25Exactly. I understand, but if someone's
- 13:29very dependent, they can't get past that.
- 13:31That's the point. If he realizes such shames doing
- 13:34that, but that only gets there. Besides, with the beat the horn
- 13:38element, he only gets to that point that he can handle it and
- 13:41they can just move right on. Exactly only based on all these
- 13:45stages, let's see how he gets there in the car 517 in the car.
- 13:52The way to attain this media who I did it all about Prisha is too
- 13:57much separation. As you mentioned the Ayuna
- 14:00Adsun, a clear analyzation, intense study with the depth of
- 14:06understanding Hashem, Bria, the Muto and recognizing God's
- 14:12greatness. Praise.
- 14:16You know how to connect your mind as you're going through
- 14:25this world and dealing with earthly matters.
- 14:33The same way the Quran has a clear mindset of service of
- 14:37Hashem as he works in the Bethany Dash.
- 14:39You and I, we live in this world, we work in this world,
- 14:43but we're thinking about God's way and wanted to be on God's
- 14:48road, OK? Without trying to work down the
- 14:59track of Hashem, it's impossible to reach this level.
- 15:06Otherwise you remain exactly like the other guys.
- 15:09Who is supposed to do a big level?
- 15:17A big degree that helps us reach this level is separating
- 15:21yourself, which means and your mind.
- 15:24Being an independent person. I think personally that every
- 15:28person has to function alone. Every person has to be able to
- 15:32think on their own. Don't be dependent on other
- 15:36people's opinions, don't be dependent on other people's
- 15:38comments, don't be dependent on other people's cavort and all of
- 15:42that. You have to have an independent
- 15:44friend of mine and if you don't think it depends, I don't care
- 15:47how great you are, you're limited.
- 15:50Every person has to be able to think independent.
- 15:53That means independent of everybody you have.
- 15:55I'll give you an example like this.
- 15:57OK, so someone told me this yesterday, one of the rabbis of
- 16:01the yeshiva where I learned the original rabbis, he's a rabbi
- 16:05that went through, came from Europe, He went through Chennai,
- 16:09China. He's famous for being a gay
- 16:13count on and a very big learn of Torah.
- 16:17So now I'll tell you the story of his.
- 16:19It seems so out-of-the-box. It only can happen if you're
- 16:23independent thinker, a great person.
- 16:26And that is it turns out he's stayed in the Baltimore County.
- 16:30He stayed in the Baltimore County in the summertime 1950s
- 16:34or so. And has he his family, a lot of
- 16:38his family passed away in the Holocaust.
- 16:41He lived alone. He never he never got married.
- 16:44All right, and. And he was one of the builders
- 16:54of the yeshiva what I learned, but he had a life.
- 16:58He had a whole life. He had a whole story and fine,
- 17:01someone noticed that when he stayed in the Mong colony or
- 17:04Rabbi noticed actually he was young guy at the time.
- 17:07This is I see next door to our our bungalow that lives their
- 17:12old Russian couple, old Russian couple had no children and that
- 17:17couple happened to be was very sad couple.
- 17:21He would see every single day. He would sit by the window and
- 17:24they just look outside every single day and like a little bit
- 17:28of a sad scene. They weren't part of anything.
- 17:30They weren't connected to anybody and they would sit
- 17:32alone, sit outside of the window, just stare outside
- 17:35waiting for something. And then this young man noticed
- 17:39that rabbi who was a single man started to notice.
- 17:44They started to skip the night learning in the Batmaton rash.
- 17:49He knows that this person was by this Russian couple, and you
- 17:54would see in the window that he's by the Russian couple
- 17:56sitting with the woman, the Russian woman, and writing notes
- 18:00and writing notes, writing notes every single night.
- 18:04So the son, the young boy asked his grandparents.
- 18:07He says, what's going? Why is the rabbi sitting by the
- 18:10Russian couple every single day? What is he doing?
- 18:14Who's writing notes? What could he be learning from
- 18:16them? He said he's learning Russian.
- 18:18Father told him Shmuel was the name of his name and they used
- 18:21to call him Shmuel Kharkova because he came from a city
- 18:23called Kharkova from Russia. He said he's learning Russian
- 18:27from the Russian woman and he's writing notes on Russian.
- 18:31He said one second the sunset to his father.
- 18:33What are you talking about? He doesn't know Russian.
- 18:36He learning Russian from that woman.
- 18:39He grew up in Russia. He doesn't know Russian.
- 18:41What's going on with you? The father said he sure does
- 18:44know Russia, but he realized that those people are alone.
- 18:48And he realized that these people have nothing to live for.
- 18:50They seem so sad. So he went over to the woman and
- 18:53asked her, can you teach me Russian?
- 18:57I'm going to learn it from you. And he paid it for he paid her
- 19:00for it. So he went out of his way to pay
- 19:03a woman to teach him Russian when she herself, I'm sorry,
- 19:08when he himself knows the language already.
- 19:10He sketched her to ask her to teach him that language.
- 19:13And he's paying her for her so she could deliver her service.
- 19:16And he's skipping out on his learning for that, right?
- 19:19And probably everyone's wondering, what is this guy
- 19:21doing? He's skipping from the Batman
- 19:22dash to do something strange like sit with the Russian
- 19:24couple. And he said all this to make a
- 19:26couple feel good, right? So why did the story yesterday?
- 19:29I just told the story yesterday and the reason I love the story
- 19:33is because it's the most independent minded thought a
- 19:36person can come up with. He's a learner, Learners learn
- 19:40for a living. They don't do other things like
- 19:42that, right? He's giving a Russian couple,
- 19:44that's a random couple. He can't put some random idea he
- 19:47came up with a trick to make them feel good.
- 19:50He's paying her for it out of his pocket.
- 19:53He himself, by the way, he dealt with a very difficult, very
- 19:55difficult life, right for all day his parents, family went
- 19:58through and all that. And yet at the same time you
- 20:01came up with this hop, you cannot come up with that idea
- 20:05unless you're an independent thinker.
- 20:07And you cannot develop in life unless you're an independent
- 20:10thinker. And I happen to think in this
- 20:12community, we're blessed with so much around us, so much around
- 20:19us. The one challenge that we can
- 20:21face is an inability to be an independent thinker because they
- 20:25say this and they say that and they're doing this and I have to
- 20:27be like them and what are they going to say?
- 20:29And I have to copy them and look at their party and look at their
- 20:32house and look at their car and look what they're going to say
- 20:34if I send my kids to that camp or if I do this, and if I do
- 20:37that or if I have a different routine and it's all about that.
- 20:41You know what that all takes away the inability to be
- 20:43independent and the inability to grow to your fullest heights.
- 20:47And my humble of being one of the biggest things and the
- 20:50biggest Achilles heel any person who's a member of this community
- 20:54has is the need to be part of the system.
- 20:57You got to be part of the system.
- 20:59It can't be out to lunch. Do you got to have the owner
- 21:02friend of mine? A story shows, I'm telling you
- 21:05right here, the way a person can develop the levels of Kedusha is
- 21:10some degree of solitary thinking that helps them on their way,
- 21:14right? What's up to this?
