- 1:06SPEAKER_00: You know?
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Just me?
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: I don't know if I why I was expecting laughter.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: There's nobody here but me and God.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: Um, what's been going on?
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: Oh my goodness.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: Uh a lot of things.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: Uh the job, we got obviously got the new job working at the railroad.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: Uh I've been there for a month now.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: Definitely is an interesting environment.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: Still.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: You know, it's it's kind of interesting to get used to guys that are, you know, they just talk.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: They just, they just they're just talking.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: You know, they're on stage all day.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: You know?
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: They're just they're saying whatever they want to each other all day.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: That's what they're doing.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: They're saying whatever.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: And uh it's interesting for sure to see them go back and forth.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Definitely good for comedy.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: Um you know, seeing these interactions and these roasts that they're shooting out to each other and stuff.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: It's pretty, it's pretty good.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, it's cool.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Job's good, pays good, can't complain.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: It's a it's a it's a hard day's work.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: So, nothing to nothing to complain about that.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: Uh, so that's good.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: Uh some other new stuff.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: Uh just did the Ice House Comedy Club, which was amazing.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: Shout out Davey the Don.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: Shout out everybody on the lineup.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: It was a huge, huge lineup.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: You know, you had Marco Trinidad, you had Travis Smith, you had Ann Jr., Gigi Garcia, you had Trill the Comedian, you had Paulina Perez, you had uh who the frick else was in that green room?
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: Fick, I don't even remember who else was in that green room.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: There's a lot of freaking people.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: A lot of freaking people.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: Uh that came out to the show.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: There was even some comics that came out to the show and sat there with their arms crossed.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: Interesting.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: Interesting.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: Interesting.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: Uh, yeah, a lot of cool new things happening, you guys.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: Uh, unfortunately, with some of the club dates, uh well, I shouldn't say some, just one.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: The laugh factory uh is closed right now.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: I guess for renovations it says on their website, and so the show got cancelled.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: So no laugh factory show for me, which is unfortunate.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: Because I was really looking forward to that.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: That's the second time I've been booked and canceled at the same venue, and I'm like, frick! Just wanna perform here.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: Is that okay?
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: Is that okay?
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: Hope it's okay.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: So that's a bummer.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: Um, in other news, I know kind of what you guys are here for.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: You guys uh want to hear me talk about my new role at Above the Iron.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: Above the Iron Comedy Club.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: If you guys haven't heard, uh Above the Iron Comedy Club is a club above Gray Iron Brewing in Menifee, California.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: You've probably heard me talk about it a lot.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: It is a 50-seat venue that is perfect for comedy.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: It is so great.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: Frank Martinez um went to the owners of Gray Iron, asked them about the space, they came up with a deal.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: The space then went under construction a little bit.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: Now there's a stage and lighting and chairs and tables and many, many dozens of shows that have happened, and many, many, many, many, many, many laughs that have been had in that room.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: And it's a beautiful thing.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: Every single week there's an open mic to help support and cultivate the community uh in the in the in the inland empire and in that specific area, uh, Manife Marietta Temecula, all that.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: And there's producer shows, uh outside producers can come in and do shows uh on Thursdays, which is really cool.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: There's also um headliners that have come through.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: Really, really good headliners.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: Like I had Jack Shaw come out for my show on a weekend show.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: We sold out two shows.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: It was incredible, it was amazing.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: I'm so excited about the support um that the local community has given the club and has given Frank.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: You know, Frank's a friend of mine, I love him.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: He's he's he's a really cool guy.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: Uh he's been doing comedy quite a bit longer than I have, and he wants to focus on some stuff and get some stuff taken care of, and so uh we talked about it, and he's bringing me on as the booker for the club.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: So though there'll be a there'll be a few times where where he's not there, but he's still gonna be there quite a bit.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: He's still fully involved with the club, it's still, you know, his idea, his origination.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: You know, he's still running the Instagram page.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: He's uh gonna be pushing actually a lot on the on the Instagram to help push it out into the community and even further into the surrounding cities that Gray Iron exists, that a good place that you can come drink beer and have fun at exists, and that they also have comedy.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: And so I'm really excited about what he is looking to do, and about the what I can do here now, which is um taking over all the booking, helping run some of the shows, doing the mics.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: What it means for me is a lot more stage time, uh, more opportunities to be able to bring people in and give people opportunity for myself, uh, the ability to flip bookings, and the ability ultimately to help out a friend.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: Because uh running a club is a lot.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: It is a lot.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: There's a lot that goes into it, there's a lot that goes out of it, and that is your energy.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: You put so much energy into something that you know these people look at and they laugh at, and there's not much seen behind the scenes, and I think Frank should be recognized for sure for kind of pushing that forward and helping give us a space like that where people can thrive and headline, you know, there's there's opportunities that are gonna be coming up for people that are doing really well that we see and we recognize the headline, you know, and that's just you know a part of it.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: So if you're part of the ATI family and you come out, you come to the open mics, you come support, you come do shows, you're doing well, there's opportunity for you, which is which is great.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: And so I'm really excited, I'm really excited about that.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: Um, we have an announcement coming up for a Christmas festival, which is gonna be on December 5th.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: The Christmas Festival at Above the Iron.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be multiple shows in the same day, and we have so many, so many cool things coming up.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: We have a dating show, a dating comedy show coming up called Fall in Love, which is gonna be super cool.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: Uh, I'm co-producing that with Alyssa Mercedes.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: We're both gonna be hosting it, and it's gonna be such a cool process of taking in submissions for people that are single, and they submit their dating profiles to us.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: We're gonna overlook those dating profiles, we're gonna judge them and tell them why they suck.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: No, I'm just kidding.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: Uh tell them why they're single and ugly.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: No, I'm just kidding.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: Um, and then we are going to do uh that dating show that's gonna be happening in November, which is pretty cool.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: Uh, we are also going to be doing drum roll, please.
- 8:40SPEAKER_00: Our Halloween show coming up here.
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: Um, it's like two weeks away now or whatever.
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be a Halloween show where you can come.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: You can come dressed up.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: Uh, the comics are gonna be dressed up, we're gonna have an amazing time laughing together, looking at our costumes, talking about our costumes, doing all those fun things that you do on Halloween.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: We're gonna be throwing out candy.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna be chucking candy at you.
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna try and get sued.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna try and get sued.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: What's the hardest candy you could throw out legally and get away with it?
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: Is it a giant jawbreaker?
- 9:13SPEAKER_00: These are the things I think about.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: These are the things I think about.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: Um, you guys, I was playing video games today.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: I was playing Halo specifically, because I still like that game because I'm living in the past and I love it.
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: And we're playing, and like it's it's four people versus four people.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: You know, it's all real people, you're not playing against AI.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: And and my team is like like they're yelling at each other.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: I have a girl on my team.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: You know, you just search online, you get whoever you get.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: I'm playing by myself, and I got three random teammates, two guys, one girl, and we're all talking on there, and they start like demeaning the girl, the other guys.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: They start like talking down to her and being like, Don't don't tell me what to do, don't tell me how to play, you freaking suck, you're a girl, ain't gonna let no female talk to me like that.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: And I was just like, they were getting into this whole sexist thing, which was crazy, and I was just like, Can we just win the game?
- 10:07SPEAKER_00: You know, can we just win the game?
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: And they're like, Oh, you guys need to do this, this, this.
- 10:11SPEAKER_00: I'm like, no, just just just kill everybody.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: They're like, no, no, you gotta stand here, you gotta it's like shut up.
- 10:19SPEAKER_00: Just kill everyone.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: Just kill everyone.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: Guys, listen to me, lock the frick in.
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: And then I killed the whole team myself.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: I said, all you gotta do is just kill everybody.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: You kill everybody, what are they gonna do?
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: They're gonna get demoralized.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: They're gonna get demoralized, they're gonna get sad.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: First, first stage of demoralization is that it's it's it's non-belief.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: It's no, I'm gonna come back, I'm gonna win, right?
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: And then you have to take that belief from them.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: You take that belief from them, then they go into the next stage of demoralization, which is uh the fear of failure, right?
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: So then they start making mistakes because they feel like it's slipping.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: That hope is slipping from their cold dead fingers in the respawn screen.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: And they're seeing their teammates die, and they're seeing us jump around, they're seeing us challenge them when we have no shields and barely any ammo because we're better! Because we're better and we know we're better, and we're slapping their bodies after they die, and we're teabagging them, and we're shooting their bodies with the rest of the bullets, and then picking up their weapons, and then shooting them when they come back.
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: Okay?
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: And then you get to the final stage of demoralization, which is rubbing it in.
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: Okay?
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: And you know what that is?
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: That is when you've not only dominated them in the game, you've dominated them mentally and physically in real life.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: You've made them question what they believe.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: You've made them question why they decided to get on and play video games, ladies and gentlemen.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: Why did I get on and play a video game today because I I now feel like my day is ruined?
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: Because four people that I don't know are absolutely spanking my tush.
- 12:01SPEAKER_00: They're spinking my cheeks.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: You make them feel that and you demoralize them as people.
- 12:08SPEAKER_00: Okay?
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: You demoralize them as people.
- 12:11SPEAKER_00: And then, as the game's about to finish, you stylize on them.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: You stylize on them, you play the right way, and you just go absolutely insane.
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: You start jumping out at them, trying to no-scope them with snipers, shoot them with rockets, throw grenades out of the air.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: Who's still listening to this, you sickos?
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: My online username is Enjoy the Lobby.
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: Because I want people to know that they shouldn't have enjoyed their time before the game, and that they can take a deep breath after the game.
- 12:49SPEAKER_00: Because in the game, I am going to be pissing them off.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna be in your face, I'm gonna be making the right play, I'm gonna be throwing grenades, I'm gonna be making you feel uncomfortable when you're spawning, when you're off spawn, whether you got the biggest gun in the game, whether you think you're the best in the game, I don't care.
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna make you feel uncomfortable.
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: Oh my god! I should have I should have continued playing video games.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: I should have done it.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: I could have! I could have.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: I continued playing and you know, I just I got a full-time job, I had kids, met the most beautiful woman in the world, you know.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: That wasn't God's plan for me, you know?
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: God's plan was for me to have these kids, for me to get married, and for me to start comedy.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: That was God's plan.
- 13:51SPEAKER_00: For me to start comedy.
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: So I'm following in the footsteps of God, what he wants for my life.
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: Okay, you guys, thank you so much for listening to the Carmedy Podcast.
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: I appreciate each and every one of you.
- 14:04SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much.
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: Uh, consistency is key.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: Um, so I'm kicking myself in the butt for not getting that Melissa episode out.
- 14:12SPEAKER_00: Every single day I was like down on myself, I was feeling sad, but I got it out, and then this one's about to come out too.
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: So, please, please continue listening to the pod.
- 14:25SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much for listening.
