- 0:30December 11th, 5:30 PM Denver time.
- 0:38Hey, we're gonna wrap up here tonight, but before we do, I'm
- 0:42gonna try to get each one of my teammates, man.
- 0:46I don't do anything without my teammates.
- 0:47And I've got 3 great ones. Actually, I had five here, but
- 0:51two of them broke out. They're probably getting dinner
- 0:53for us is what they're probably doing.
- 0:55Oh yeah, they said. They have a table.
- 0:56OK, good. This goes through 745 though, so
- 1:01it's my boss, so I get to go out.
- 1:03Hey. So I just wanted to kind of
- 1:04quickly highlight as we wrap up tonight, we've had some amazing
- 1:07coaches. We kind of started on the Drake
- 1:09Relays and a little bit ended on the Drake Relays with Mike.
- 1:11Jay was here, but we what you think that we do here.
- 1:16He just did not get the hand signals.
- 1:19I kept touching like get up here.
- 1:20We have just some amazing teammates here and this is kind
- 1:23of I don't want to belittle this Scott and save my right hand
- 1:26man. But what I mean by that is this
- 1:27is the guy who really does it all to be real Frank with you,
- 1:30Scott Phelps here oversees our sales team for our Gill stock
- 1:34divisions, all the pits, polls, hurdles and implements, things
- 1:36like that. So Scott, introduce yourself and
- 1:38I'm just going to ask you a couple fun questions.
- 1:40Man. Yeah, my name is Scott Phelps.
- 1:42I've worked at Gill going on five years now, was a coach for
- 1:46eight years at the college level and started as a sales Rep and
- 1:50now kind of have a hand in everything at Gill.
- 1:53He runs the show. Let's not be too.
- 1:55He won't say that, but I will and I can't.
- 1:57And you were a really good. And I can say that because you
- 2:00know what? We are half miler from the
- 2:02University of Illinois and you're from the area and you
- 2:05went and coached at places like Dartmouth and Northeastern and
- 2:08Texas. What did it mean?
- 2:10And you know, as you were coming out of coaching and moving, you
- 2:13got the chance to not only move back to home home base, but you
- 2:17got to stay in track and field. Was how much of A draw was that
- 2:20for you? Or was it just like?
- 2:21I mean, I just needed a job. There's a little bit of that.
- 2:24There's definitely a pole back to central Illinois, but staying
- 2:29in the sport was big. I mean, I still, I'm always
- 2:31going to follow track and running and things like that.
- 2:34And so it was nice to have somebody you know to work at a
- 2:37place where I can. Talk about track.
- 2:39And people knew what I was talking about.
- 2:41No one shunned you. It's like, yeah, keep talking.
- 2:42Why don't you talk more? Actually, that's awesome, man.
- 2:45Well, I love it, man. You know, Scott, you bring a
- 2:48whole different set of positives and advantages to our team, man.
- 2:51I'm just so thankful for you being on our team.
- 2:52And now I'm gonna have a little fun.
- 2:53So I've got 100 questions, one through 100.
- 2:56They're numbered one through 100.
- 2:57You get to pick the number 87. Why 87?
- 3:01My lucky number, Not your football it.
- 3:03Doesn't come up very often. It's 87.
- 3:04But yeah, we we never. Yeah, that's true.
- 3:08But we didn't have enough. We had all dudes on the podcast
- 3:11here tonight besides Jessica and every guy.
- 3:13When they picked their number. It's their old high school
- 3:15football. They brought me to a team.
- 3:16All right, 87 here, 87, right. Yep.
- 3:18All right. Sweet or savory?
- 3:19What's your favorite dessert? Cinnamon roll.
- 3:23If I could do just the middle part of a cinema.
- 3:26Amen. Not even the outer Amen.
- 3:28That'd be my. We talked about the inventions
- 3:30and things like that. Why has no one done that?
- 3:32Yeah, yeah, because that is that work.
- 3:34You get the dry crust. I'm like, yeah, here, get that
- 3:35to the dog. Like, give me that ooey, gooey
- 3:37center. All right, man to wrap us up
- 3:40here tonight. Because you have a whole
- 3:42different aspect of track and field, what are you most looking
- 3:46forward to in the 2023 track and field season?
- 3:48Yeah, well, I think everybody remembers where they were.
- 3:52When kind of COVID first happened, unfortunately, yes,
- 3:55and. I was at Ncaa's in Albuquerque
- 4:00at the national Championships and they are back in Albuquerque
- 4:04this March and so I am looking forward to actually having
- 4:07Ncaa's at Albuquerque full circle.
- 4:11Yeah, that's what I'm looking forward to.
- 4:09I did not. Even I didn't.
- 4:12That's true. Because we were there on the
- 4:14Tuesday and Wednesday. It's like, man, we're going to
- 4:15have Division One. Let's go.
- 4:16Let's rock it. OK.
- 4:18Pack your stuff up and go home. And what?
- 4:19And then just, you know, just kept getting that.
- 4:21I'm looking forward to that too, man.
- 4:23That's really good, man. We're going to get a selfie, get
- 4:25these other two guys in here and we can go eat, man.
- 4:28Oh, we gotta press the button. There we go.
- 4:29Scott, thank you, man. I really appreciate you're so
- 4:31grateful for you. World record shortest.
