- 2:41Speaker 4: bitster Templer. We've been waiting for you. Come in. Please
- 2:44Speaker 4: thank you this way. You had no trouble finding the place, sir, none.
- 2:50Speaker 4: The Allison house is too large to overlook.
- 2:52Speaker 3: I should apologize for not sending the car for you.
- 2:55Speaker 3: You received you tell me it?
- 2:58Speaker 5: Oh? Well, hello, hello? Oh you are cute, an't you?
- 3:04Speaker 4: Frank, I've never given it much thought.
- 3:06Speaker 5: See mother hired you to drive a car. No, that
- 3:09Speaker 5: wouldn't be it at all. She hired you to escort it,
- 3:12Speaker 5: to remote it. You're not the.
- 3:15Speaker 4: Escort type, Miss Allison.
- 3:17Speaker 3: This is the saint.
- 3:18Speaker 5: Oh then that's why mother hired you.
- 3:22Speaker 6: Wow, good luck, feel good, mister Dunn call tell him
- 3:26Speaker 6: I've already left for the track.
- 3:28Speaker 4: Goodbye, dream boat, goodbye. She goes with the house. I
- 3:34Speaker 4: take it. Missus Allison's daughter Cora by a late marriage,
- 3:38Speaker 4: a very spirited young lady. Oh, here's Missus Allison's bedroom,
- 3:45Speaker 4: Missus Allison, mister Templar is here.
- 3:47Speaker 7: We'll come over here, mister Templar, let's have a look
- 3:53Speaker 7: at you.
- 3:55Speaker 4: Hm, very nighe. I just exactly what is being hired,
- 4:00Speaker 4: Misus Allison. A detective or a profile?
- 4:03Speaker 7: Oh, I'll sit down. I'm not here, mister Templer, just
- 4:08Speaker 7: wearing out. And please don't allow the impertinences of an
- 4:11Speaker 7: aged woman to distress you. The wage is of an
- 4:14Speaker 7: extremely indulgent, but not uninteresting life.
- 4:18Speaker 4: You don't seem as weak a woman as you let on,
- 4:20Speaker 4: Missus Allison. A gentlemanly thing to say, mister Templar.
- 4:24Speaker 7: But the strainth you see left in me is only
- 4:26Speaker 7: the extra strong light of the candle before it burns out. Here,
- 4:30Speaker 7: mister Templars, a check for one thousand dollars.
- 4:33Speaker 4: It's yours, just like that.
- 4:35Speaker 7: I never thought money was for anything but spending. And
- 4:38Speaker 7: now shall we talk of my need for you for.
- 4:42Speaker 4: A thousand dollars to my favorite charity. You can talk
- 4:44Speaker 4: of anything. You have seen her who my daughter? I
- 4:49Speaker 4: ran into a light breeze on the stairs. Afield said
- 4:53Speaker 4: she was your daughter, mister Templar.
- 4:56Speaker 7: Cora is an exciting, spirited girl. She's had everything that's
- 5:01Speaker 7: fine in life now. Her only reading matter is the
- 5:04Speaker 7: racing form. Her only art self beautification. Her only uses
- 5:09Speaker 7: the rocket pounds of a nightclub. Look, I found this
- 5:16Speaker 7: gun in her room. She thinks it's cute to carry
- 5:20Speaker 7: a gun. But that isn't all.
- 5:24Speaker 5: The real problem goes deeper.
- 5:26Speaker 4: A man. How did you know it usually is? His
- 5:31Speaker 4: name is Frank dunn Yes, he runs the Paradise Club.
- 5:34Speaker 8: You know him?
- 5:35Speaker 7: Yes, then you know that he's a ruthless man. Cora
- 5:40Speaker 7: is in love with him, or thinks she is. He's
- 5:44Speaker 7: no good for her. I want you to take her
- 5:46Speaker 7: away from him. I know Cora, I know of you.
- 5:51Speaker 7: I know you're the kind of man.
- 5:52Speaker 4: Who can do it. And that's all. Yes, No, I
- 5:56Speaker 4: think you've left out something, the real reason for paying
- 5:59Speaker 4: me a dollars. We will start with Cora. You made
- 6:04Speaker 4: her what she is, missus Anderson, and you like it.
- 6:07Speaker 4: You like her flamboyants and her excesses. That can't you
- 6:10Speaker 4: like them yourself when you were young. You're not angry
- 6:14Speaker 4: at her, You're worried about her. You think Frank Dunne
- 6:17Speaker 4: is going to get into trouble, criminal trouble.
- 6:20Speaker 7: You are a discerning man, mister Templar, and a frank.
- 6:25Speaker 4: One, then we understand each other. Yes, good fabrication between
- 6:30Speaker 4: a man and his client is usually unhealthy, especially when
- 6:33Speaker 4: there's someone in the middle with a loaded gun. Now,
- 6:37Speaker 4: just how is done? Using Cora? I don't know, and
- 6:42Speaker 4: I'll find out.
- 6:43Speaker 5: They're at the track.
- 6:44Speaker 7: They're always just a trap. Field tells me they have
- 6:47Speaker 7: a box.
- 6:48Speaker 4: I'll phone you as soon as I get something.
- 6:50Speaker 7: Remember, mister Templer, whatever it is, the important thing is
- 6:55Speaker 7: that Cora be kept out of it completely. Do you understand?
- 6:59Speaker 4: I understand and missus Anderson that I'm about to play
- 7:02Speaker 4: nursemaid to a very beautiful young lady.
- 7:14Speaker 6: Tell me, now, Frankie, which horse did you have?
- 7:16Speaker 5: The winners always say that.
- 7:19Speaker 6: But this was a photo finish darling.
- 7:21Speaker 5: Which one did you have?
- 7:22Speaker 4: Who's you?
- 7:23Speaker 6: Tell me?
- 7:23Speaker 4: I wouldn't know, Cora. Hey, Frankie, Look who's coming? Hello Cora?
- 7:29Speaker 4: Oh hello, cute?
- 7:30Speaker 5: I hope you're following me.
- 7:32Speaker 4: No, I dropped a few hundred dollars at this track
- 7:35Speaker 4: last season. I wondered if any of you had found me.
- 7:37Speaker 5: Oh, we found more than that, Frankie. Dying. This is
- 7:41Speaker 5: Simon Temper, This is Temper.
- 7:42Speaker 4: This is hello Frankie.
- 7:43Speaker 9: Hello.
- 7:44Speaker 5: Oh you know each other?
- 7:47Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, we know this scene. And you're a gorilla
- 7:51Speaker 4: named Who's aren't you? Or are you a who's named gorilla?
- 7:54Speaker 4: Now listen?
- 7:57Speaker 7: So you know this guy cor not as well as
- 8:00Speaker 7: I'd like to meet him at the house.
- 8:02Speaker 4: Mother hired him.
- 8:03Speaker 5: He's kind of luscious, don't you think.
- 8:05Speaker 4: Come out and join it, all right, the delighted Cora.
- 8:07Speaker 3: The box is full.
- 8:10Speaker 4: I'm saving that for Bronce Samson never comes.
- 8:12Speaker 6: Besides the last race to Joe.
- 8:14Speaker 8: We will want to be here a.
- 8:14Speaker 5: Few minutes long.
- 8:15Speaker 4: I've said the state has taken it ding.
- 8:18Speaker 5: I guess you're right.
- 8:20Speaker 4: Mother.
- 8:20Speaker 5: I see him in the sunlight. I don't like him.
- 8:23Speaker 4: He looks too moral than me. You've heard the lady say,
- 8:27Speaker 4: I don't think you're teaching. Are very kind of Frankie,
- 8:30Speaker 4: and I have such nice things to tell Cora about you,
- 8:32Speaker 4: that you spend three years in Julia to a few
- 8:35Speaker 4: more in state pins for various infections of the law.
- 8:37Speaker 6: And oh, I know all that thing. That's Frankie's charm.
- 8:41Speaker 6: That's why I'm going to marry him.
- 8:43Speaker 4: I see, does your mother know we're.
- 8:46Speaker 5: Going to a lope and the meat racy going to
- 8:48Speaker 5: be a surprise. Mother's done a lot in her.
- 8:50Speaker 6: Day, but never anything is exciting as marrying a man.
- 8:53Speaker 4: Like AND's he gonna congratulate it, saying I'm going right
- 9:00Speaker 4: out and buying her some black crape. Let me press

- 9:36Speaker 4: making you so lucky? Sun spots or maybe a system?
- 9:42Speaker 4: I'd like to hear all about it. Kind of soft

- 10:35Speaker 4: to Jersey. Ya wait minute, hold up?
- 10:39Speaker 3: Well, what's about it?
- 10:40Speaker 4: After I was standing there with one of the dark
- 10:41Speaker 4: glasses and veil. Oh yeah, she's a Melano. Is the
- 10:45Speaker 4: one i'd go on the way to Jersey for. Hello, Patricia,
- 10:53Speaker 4: Frankie know you're up the track.
- 10:55Speaker 8: I don't know you.
- 10:55Speaker 4: Wait a minute, don't go, not until we've had a
- 10:58Speaker 4: chance to talk.
- 11:00Speaker 8: But I'm gonna call it up.

- 11:30Speaker 4: All right, I'll take you there and we'll drive slowly.
- 11:33Speaker 4: We've got a few things to talk about.
- 11:50Speaker 8: Thanks.
- 11:52Speaker 4: Thanks for being so talkative.
- 11:54Speaker 8: I don't remember saying anything.
- 11:56Speaker 4: You didn't what's bothering you? Why did you go to
- 12:00Speaker 4: the track and hide in the corner behind dark glasses

- 12:08Speaker 4: the track? Who is he?
- 12:10Speaker 8: Never heard of him?
- 12:12Speaker 4: Frank is making a lot of money off the races.
- 12:15Speaker 4: How's it done? So? You can fix one race sometimes,
- 12:19Speaker 4: but you can't fix four one day, five the day before,
- 12:21Speaker 4: and I don't know how many before then. That takes
- 12:24Speaker 4: a lot of organizations. How do you feel about Cora Allison?

- 12:37Speaker 4: and Frank are to marry. Why shouldn't it be No
- 12:41Speaker 4: reasonably except it seems to me that if Frank is
- 12:44Speaker 4: going to marry Cora in a few days, as he says,
- 12:46Speaker 4: it'll be better for him not to be married to you.
- 12:50Speaker 5: That's his problem.
- 12:52Speaker 4: Sure, you don't want to tell me about Bronson.
- 12:54Speaker 8: I don't want to tell you anything.
- 12:56Speaker 4: All right, I'll see you again.
- 13:01Speaker 8: Thank Yeah, that's thanking on the town. But I've come
- 13:07Speaker 8: over from Jersey.

- 13:13Speaker 8: him no matter what, don't tell him.
- 13:15Speaker 4: Why not?
- 13:17Speaker 8: Won't be good for me.

- 14:02Speaker 4: to be sure about that book? Eddie, Eddie, come over here,
- 14:09Speaker 4: up at this window. You were parked at the end
- 14:12Speaker 4: of the end. Did you see anyone come out of it?
- 14:18Speaker 4: Maybe Cora Allison? Hello Field, Oh, mister templar. I tried
- 14:38Speaker 4: to follow you at your apartment. Missus Allison has asked
- 14:41Speaker 4: me to inform you that your services are no longer needed.
- 14:44Speaker 4: Just a moment, Field, please take your foot out of
- 14:46Speaker 4: the door where I should be forced to call the police.
- 14:48Speaker 4: Hardly like the Field, you haven't forgotten. The murder was
- 14:51Speaker 4: committed not long ago. I was standing outside Patricia Dun's
- 14:55Speaker 4: apartment when it happened. I don't know what you're talking about, sir.
- 14:58Speaker 4: I don't want to call you a lie, Field, but
- 15:00Speaker 4: you're tempting me. I've got a strong feeling Cora did it.
- 15:04Speaker 4: I also think you drove her van back in the limousine.
- 15:07Speaker 4: You're wrong, mister Templar. I haven't left the house all afternoon,
- 15:10Speaker 4: nor has the car left the garage. There you go again.
- 15:14Speaker 4: I felt the hood on the limousine not two minutes ago.
- 15:16Speaker 4: It's too warm, and I'd also like to find something
- 15:19Speaker 4: else but warm. Was that a gun fired? Probably by
- 15:24Speaker 4: the dainty hand of a girl who has everything except
- 15:26Speaker 4: the rights up with him. Now, believe me, it feels it.
- 15:30Speaker 4: It'd be a lot less trouble if you'll let me
- 15:32Speaker 4: inter talk to Cora than if I find a telephone
- 15:34Speaker 4: and talk to the police. Well, Corra's in her bedroom.
- 15:39Speaker 3: She's come in. Mister Templar, Wow.
- 15:54Speaker 4: All right, if you're going to keep on crying, we're
- 15:57Speaker 4: not going to get any work. I'll tell you what's
- 15:59Speaker 4: didn't yes, and you don't believe it. I'd like to,
- 16:04Speaker 4: but you've got a lot of things to explain. One
- 16:07Speaker 4: is the automatic to used to carry it? What's a
- 16:10Speaker 4: pistol for? It's not for shooting?
- 16:11Speaker 6: Oh, I never shot a pistol in my life.
- 16:13Speaker 4: Oh, I see you used it as a paperweight.
- 16:16Speaker 5: No. I carried it because, well, because it looks.
- 16:20Speaker 4: Good, uh huh, like a mink gate.
- 16:23Speaker 6: Oh, I tell you I didn't kill her.
- 16:26Speaker 4: Would anyone know if you ever told to you know,
- 16:29Speaker 4: to some people it also looks good to tell him
- 16:32Speaker 4: at the table lives. You also said you went to
- 16:34Speaker 4: Patricia's apartment.
- 16:35Speaker 3: I wasn't.
- 16:36Speaker 6: I came home right after the races and had dinner here.
- 16:39Speaker 8: Yes, I came right home.
- 16:40Speaker 4: All of which reminds me of to Nokio, whose nose
- 16:43Speaker 4: got longer every time you lied.
- 16:45Speaker 5: Ask for you. I was long afternoon he saw me.
- 16:47Speaker 4: We've already been through it. His nose is getting longer too, Cora,
- 16:52Speaker 4: listen to me. A cab driver saw you running up
- 16:54Speaker 4: the alley away from Patricia's place after the shots were fired.
- 16:58Speaker 4: It's somebody, It doesn't matter who.
- 17:00Speaker 5: You're making it up.
- 17:01Speaker 4: Strangely enough, I'm not like you, Cora. I don't think
- 17:05Speaker 4: it looks good to make things up, especially when murders concerned.
- 17:09Speaker 4: They can't be saw you and the migizine and field,
- 17:13Speaker 4: and I'll tell you onting more the police will be
- 17:16Speaker 4: able to prove you were there. You lush us. I know,
- 17:20Speaker 4: I know you told me.
- 17:22Speaker 6: All right, Oh I was there, My children, my kildnt.
- 17:27Speaker 4: Knowing You're satisfied. Not be.
- 17:30Speaker 6: No, don't believe her, mister Templar, she's lying.
- 17:35Speaker 7: Oh mother, she didn't kill Patricia Dunn.
- 17:40Speaker 4: I know because I did. I just phoned the police
- 17:43Speaker 4: and confessed.
- 17:58Speaker 3: Shall I have a partner to set us up against? Say?
- 18:00Speaker 4: No, not for me. You go ahead, Eddie. I know
- 18:03Speaker 4: you've got to get fortified to face the New York traffic.
- 18:06Speaker 3: No, no, I'll skip it. Hey, we are we doing here?
- 18:09Speaker 4: Anyway? What did he? What forth Frank had done? This
- 18:13Speaker 4: is his face if and when he shows up. I
- 18:16Speaker 4: want to see if he's in morning, you.
- 18:18Speaker 3: Mean, after all that's happened, you're still in the case.
- 18:20Speaker 4: No, no, not exactly what good the client If.
- 18:24Speaker 3: She's on the way to the death house the meeting
- 18:26Speaker 3: missus Alice meaning the same, then you really think she's done,
- 18:30Speaker 3: she says, So don't want to you go home and
- 18:31Speaker 3: go to sleep.
- 18:33Speaker 4: Let's just say I'm rifless, Eddie. I've been latching that
- 18:38Speaker 4: man at the end of the bar, the one in
- 18:40Speaker 4: the brown pen strive to work. His uh name Bronson,
- 18:45Speaker 4: at least that's what the bar he'd called him. So
- 18:48Speaker 4: so he's the one who's in with Frank Dunn on
- 18:51Speaker 4: the horse ray speed. He gave the bartender a package.
- 18:55Speaker 4: The bartender locked the package in the safe, then gave
- 18:57Speaker 4: Bronson an envelope. Bronson opened the count loop and put
- 19:00Speaker 4: the contents into his wallet. Eddie, what would you put
- 19:04Speaker 4: in your wallet that was green and negotiable cabbage? If
- 19:08Speaker 4: I add it was cabbage, you're right, cabbage and lettuce
- 19:13Speaker 4: s mooler fish clams or whatever euphemism you want to.
- 19:16Speaker 3: Use his shirt a track whenness.
- 19:19Speaker 4: Maybe that seems I can find out. Good evening, mister Bronson.
- 19:30Speaker 4: We have met, and not formerly, but we have mutual friend.
- 19:34Speaker 4: Frank Dunn Cora Allison. They told me you had a
- 19:38Speaker 4: great way to beat the horses, A sure thing and
- 19:41Speaker 4: until your court that is?
- 19:44Speaker 10: Are you young man?
- 19:46Speaker 4: Superman? And my X ray eyes penetrate your coat and
- 19:50Speaker 4: see the money in your inside pocket? Your shriff done, track.
- 19:54Speaker 10: Women, you're the most absurd young man I've ever met.
- 19:57Speaker 10: That mother was for a package. I left, wister done?
- 20:01Speaker 4: What was in the package?
- 20:02Speaker 10: I failed to see how that's any of your affair.
- 20:05Speaker 4: It's just it is.
- 20:06Speaker 10: And to relieve my curiosity, books, young man, I'm a
- 20:10Speaker 10: book dealer.
- 20:11Speaker 4: I have a shop on Third Avenue. You must come
- 20:13Speaker 4: and see it.
- 20:13Speaker 3: Sometimes.
- 20:15Speaker 10: The money mister Dunn gave me was simply a payment
- 20:17Speaker 10: for the books.
- 20:18Speaker 4: They must be pretty expensive, but there was a lot
- 20:21Speaker 4: of money in that ambla rare books.
- 20:24Speaker 10: Tell me, young man, where did you ever get that
- 20:26Speaker 10: delightful notion that I know how to beat the horses?
- 20:29Speaker 10: That I'm involved in something with mister Dunn? And what
- 20:33Speaker 10: was the gholst names? Oh, yes, it's a charming idea.
- 20:37Speaker 4: I'll tell you what you do, young man.
- 20:38Speaker 10: You investigate me, and if you determine that I am
- 20:41Speaker 10: engaged in something criminal, please inform me I should be
- 20:45Speaker 10: delighted to know. Now, goodbye, mister Templar, and don't try
- 20:51Speaker 10: to follow.
- 20:51Speaker 4: Me, of course not. It's bad manners, mister Bronson, to
- 20:54Speaker 4: follow anyone who isn't female.
- 21:14Speaker 5: Mister Templer, I've been waiting for you in the hallway
- 21:16Speaker 5: for almost two hours. I was wondering if could ever
- 21:19Speaker 5: get home.
- 21:19Speaker 4: I was out getting my mind off of no good case.
- 21:22Speaker 5: Mister Temple. I'd like to talk to you.
- 21:24Speaker 6: May I come in.
- 21:26Speaker 4: I don't think you have anything to say to me. Colra,
- 21:29Speaker 4: you could have said anything you wanted to before the
- 21:32Speaker 4: police took your mother.
- 21:33Speaker 5: Well that's no reason I can't say it now.
- 21:35Speaker 4: Please all right, but I hope it's worthwhile. I'm very sleepy.
- 21:43Speaker 5: Well, I saw mother in jail a few hours ago.
- 21:47Speaker 5: It was an unpleasant sight.
- 21:50Speaker 4: Well it should have been. Jail's aren't designed to give kicks.
- 21:54Speaker 5: Mother doesn't belong to mister Templer.
- 21:56Speaker 4: I know she didn't kill Patricia Dum. She just said
- 21:59Speaker 4: she did.
- 22:00Speaker 5: You protect me.
- 22:01Speaker 6: She's convinced I killed Patricia and she feels responsible because
- 22:05Speaker 6: of the way she brought me up.
- 22:07Speaker 4: I admit there's wisdom there. So were you going to
- 22:11Speaker 4: let her give herself up.
- 22:13Speaker 5: I suppose so it was an awful thing to do it. Well,
- 22:17Speaker 5: I know I can't why I told you I saw
- 22:21Speaker 5: her in jail.
- 22:22Speaker 4: No, you don't have to worry about that, Cora. The
- 22:25Speaker 4: police will soon find out they haven't got a case
- 22:27Speaker 4: against him. She'll be released. Of course, they'll look for
- 22:31Speaker 4: someone else to take her place. Have you got a
- 22:36Speaker 4: better suggestion?
- 22:37Speaker 5: That's just it, mister Templer.
- 22:40Speaker 6: No matter what you and mother think, I didn't kill
- 22:42Speaker 6: Patricia Dumb.
- 22:44Speaker 4: And that's the truth, thankly, Cora. I don't know whether
- 22:48Speaker 4: to believe you or not. You've you've told so many
- 22:51Speaker 4: lies already. You were at Patricia's apartment. I know you were, Yes,
- 22:57Speaker 4: I was there.
- 22:59Speaker 6: I heard that, thank you. I was still married to her.
- 23:01Speaker 6: I knew he couldn't marry me, and I knew something
- 23:04Speaker 6: was wrong. Well, I went to see her.
- 23:06Speaker 5: I was inside her a parble when you left her there.
- 23:09Speaker 5: The manager let me and I told him I.
- 23:10Speaker 4: Was your sister. Then you saw who killed her?
- 23:13Speaker 5: No, the shots came in through the window. I got frightened.
- 23:18Speaker 5: I may put on a lot, but I do get frightened.
- 23:21Speaker 6: I ran down the fire, straightening up the alley, and
- 23:23Speaker 6: that's when the cab driver saw me.
- 23:25Speaker 5: Feelers took me home and I told mother what.
- 23:27Speaker 4: Happened, and she didn't believe it. She thought you were
- 23:30Speaker 4: the one who killed Patricia and made up the story
- 23:32Speaker 4: about someone firing through the window.
- 23:35Speaker 6: She made fear of than me, promised to say neither
- 23:37Speaker 6: of us left the house.
- 23:39Speaker 5: When you came and proved me.
- 23:41Speaker 4: She caned up the police and contested to save you.
- 23:44Speaker 5: She said she was old and didn't matter if she
- 23:47Speaker 5: went to jail. It was her way of giving me
- 23:50Speaker 5: a new stirp, hoping I'd changed my ways?
- 23:53Speaker 4: Have you one?
- 23:55Speaker 5: I just told you the truth.
- 23:57Speaker 4: I wonder you know you remind me of the boy
- 24:01Speaker 4: who cried wolf. Uh tell me about Frank his steen
- 24:06Speaker 4: to beat the horses? How does it work?
- 24:08Speaker 5: I don't know. All I know is he's always has
- 24:11Speaker 5: the winning ticket. She's a cash dozens of them.
- 24:15Speaker 4: Doesn't he ever cash any of them?
- 24:17Speaker 8: Not always me?
- 24:18Speaker 4: Why?
- 24:20Speaker 5: I don't know why?
- 24:21Speaker 6: I want to?
- 24:21Speaker 4: I g it was fun. I know what about Bronson?
- 24:26Speaker 4: He's in on it? Who's he?
- 24:30Speaker 5: He's an artist?
- 24:31Speaker 4: An artist? He said he was a book dealer.
- 24:34Speaker 5: Oh he has a bookshop, all right, But he's really
- 24:37Speaker 5: an artist. It's fine. The tail work.
- 24:39Speaker 4: I've seen some of them, leather grant, Yes, grieving a
- 24:45Speaker 4: counterfeiter may be, of course, that's it. That's why Done
- 24:51Speaker 4: always has the winning ticket. Bronson makes up a wind
- 24:54Speaker 4: ticket ahead of time for every horse in the race,
- 24:57Speaker 4: no matter which horse wins, Done wins. Really fancy idea.
- 25:02Speaker 4: Now tell me one thing more, Cora, How did you
- 25:06Speaker 4: know Patricia was in town? How did you know where
- 25:08Speaker 4: she was staying?
- 25:10Speaker 5: Well? I overheard Lewis and Frank you talk about it.
- 25:13Speaker 4: Frank he was angry, Thank you done? Yes, she was
- 25:16Speaker 4: afraid he'd find to find out she was in town.
- 25:19Speaker 4: Where's Frank is staying?
- 25:21Speaker 5: You've got a tweet at the Southern six thirteen?
- 25:24Speaker 4: All right, oh, Cora, Yes, for yours and your mother's sake.
- 25:31Speaker 4: I hope you're finally telling the truth. It's open, no
- 25:45Speaker 4: waiting twit same, Oh, thank you, m overcoat. On where
- 25:50Speaker 4: you're going something? Yeah? Got something, yes, but not where
- 25:54Speaker 4: you think you're going to change places with missus Alis.
- 25:57Speaker 3: That's very funny.
- 25:58Speaker 4: I know all about the counterpe Frankly you and I
- 26:01Speaker 4: know Cora was used to front for you. You with
- 26:03Speaker 4: your reputation, couldn't be catching so many win tickets, somebody
- 26:07Speaker 4: would begin to wonder, but Corra was relatively safe. I
- 26:12Speaker 4: have a that isn't an important thing, is it? No?
- 26:16Speaker 4: Patricia's murder is that's right?
- 26:18Speaker 3: Says, that's the important thing. I get out of my way.
- 26:22Speaker 3: I got a gun in this overcoat pocket.
- 26:23Speaker 4: I want to have the kid you because I'm saving
- 26:25Speaker 4: these bullets for someone else. Oh the one will really.
- 26:28Speaker 3: Killed my Patricia.
- 26:29Speaker 4: I don't name missus Allison. What do you mean? A
- 26:32Speaker 4: kid with too much money? In no sense? Unless feeling
- 26:35Speaker 4: Cora Allison, which she said she didn't do any She
- 26:37Speaker 4: says a lot of things. But I believe her this time.
- 26:40Speaker 4: She's a changed girl, ruffled. But why and I don't
- 26:44Speaker 4: think she killed Patricia. You got an alibi, frank here? Yeah,
- 26:49Speaker 4: real good one.
- 26:50Speaker 3: I love it?
- 26:52Speaker 4: Is that why she was so scared of? She know?
- 26:54Speaker 10: I want to write a town till a jab with
- 26:55Speaker 10: Bronson was finished?
- 26:56Speaker 4: She know if I know? She was in turn out
- 26:58Speaker 4: of slapped around and sent her home. I must say,
- 27:00Speaker 4: you have a unique way of sharing a fiction.
- 27:02Speaker 3: It's my way.
- 27:04Speaker 4: It's very touching. Thank you. But I don't think that
- 27:06Speaker 4: an if I would stand up in clark less one will.
- 27:09Speaker 10: Both moose and I were in the bar this hotel
- 27:11Speaker 10: when Patricia was killed, and a house steak and six
- 27:14Speaker 10: other people saw us.
- 27:14Speaker 4: So I guess you made a mistake.
- 27:17Speaker 3: I did out of my way, saying.
- 27:18Speaker 4: I got a date with Cora. You're not going to
- 27:20Speaker 4: kill Kaora. Take your hands, I make you're not going
- 27:23Speaker 4: to kill her, saying I didn't ask for trouble with you,
- 27:25Speaker 4: but you're gonna get it. There's your phone down, all right?
- 27:28Speaker 4: I will hello, thank you, thank you.
- 27:37Speaker 3: It's motion. I get a bullet in me?
- 27:42Speaker 4: What is it, mose Bronk, handsome, bronsome man. I'll tell
- 27:50Speaker 4: you all about myself first handed. I don't think you
- 27:53Speaker 4: have to, Bronson. I already know. It's been a merry
- 27:57Speaker 4: go round and I got a lot of lead wings.
- 27:59Speaker 4: But you the gold. Yes, you killed Patricia because she
- 28:03Speaker 4: knew the deal you and Frank you were on. She
- 28:05Speaker 4: never wanted Franky to be in on it, and you
- 28:07Speaker 4: thought she'd dropped the wrong information to the police. So
- 28:11Speaker 4: everyone who knows about it has to go.
- 28:13Speaker 10: Patricia moose Y, Yes, young man, it seems that it
- 28:18Speaker 10: is now your turn, now, Brian, since.
- 28:20Speaker 4: Your turn Frank Frank all right, Frank, aye, you even
- 28:29Speaker 4: things up. Give me a gun. It's no good grain
- 28:34Speaker 4: when now accept ballistics.
- 28:48Speaker 2: You have been listening to another transcribed adventure of the Saint,
- 28:53Speaker 2: the robin Hood of Modern Crime, and now here is
- 28:57Speaker 2: our Star, Tom Conway.
- 29:00Speaker 4: Ladies and gentlemen in our dast you heard Gail Paige
- 29:04Speaker 4: as Quarra and Peggy Webber as Patricia. Da rese Mern
- 29:08Speaker 4: played Missus. Allison Varney Phillips was Moose, Tony Barrett. Frankie
- 29:14Speaker 4: the Butler was played by Fred Field Bronson Bill Conrad
- 29:19Speaker 4: then Vernon was the elevator Boy. Eddy was played by
- 29:22Speaker 4: high Eppabak. This is Tom Conway inviting me to join
- 29:26Speaker 4: us again next week at the same time for another
- 29:28Speaker 4: exciting adventure of the Saint Night.
- 30:00Speaker 3: The Night. Script of the Saint was written by Larry Roman.
- 30:04Speaker 2: The Saint, based on characters created by Leslie Chatteris, is
- 30:08Speaker 2: a James L. Safire production and is directed by Helen Matt.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Tom Conway is soon to be seen in Warner Brothers
- 30:16Speaker 2: production Painting the Clouds with Sunshine. All you Saint fans
- 30:20Speaker 2: will be glad to know that the Saint comic books
- 30:22Speaker 2: are on sale at.
- 30:24Speaker 4: All news stands. You're an answered, Don Stanley.
- 30:40Speaker 3: It's the Silver Jubilee on NBC.
- 30:43Speaker 11: Be sure to hear three more top mystery shows coming
- 30:46Speaker 11: your way today on NBC. Continuing now their screen actor
- 30:50Speaker 11: Lloyd Nolan as hard hitting Martin Kine Flava Eye. Then
- 30:54Speaker 11: actor Carvin Young comes to the NBC Michaerophone as the Whisperer.
- 30:57Speaker 11: And listen tonight for adventure and the kind of Combs
- 31:00Speaker 11: A room with mister Mavall. All right here the American
- 31:04Speaker 11: form of the air on NBC.
- 31:17Speaker 8: This is Andrew J. Graham, author of the web surface
- 31:20Speaker 8: series Oh and a Man of His Wife.
- 31:22Speaker 4: You're listening to the great detectives of Old time Radio.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Welcome back. Well, a solid episode for The Saint. I
- 31:35Speaker 1: think that the show with Tom Conway really did find
- 31:40Speaker 1: his pace here. Particularly this episode really strong and a
- 31:48Speaker 1: characterization I would have liked to hear more of. It's
- 31:51Speaker 1: a shame that this is the final episode that is available,
- 31:55Speaker 1: by no means the final episode Tom Conway did on
- 31:58Speaker 1: The Saint. In fact, there are fourteen more weeks of
- 32:02Speaker 1: programs running to October twenty first of nineteen fifty one,
- 32:07Speaker 1: but unfortunately they are among the many lost radio programs,
- 32:12Speaker 1: and it's always difficult as to whether any of these
- 32:16Speaker 1: will ever turn up. I give this, I'm slightly more
- 32:20Speaker 1: optimistic about these just because NBC was transcribing so many
- 32:27Speaker 1: of these series in sending them out, it's such a
- 32:31Speaker 1: distribution that there are a greater odds that the programs survived.
- 32:36Speaker 1: But we'll have to see if any emerge over the years.
- 32:39Speaker 1: Certainly if they do, will return to this series. Hieverback,
- 32:46Speaker 1: who appears in this episode, is probably best known for
- 32:50Speaker 1: being the voice from the loudspeaker in mash Tho. We
- 32:54Speaker 1: had a very varied career in radio and intellivision. With that,
- 33:01Speaker 1: we turned to listener comments and feedback and Debbie rides
- 33:06Speaker 1: in with a comment regarding our listener support special, the
- 33:10Speaker 1: very Last One, Captain Carrey USA. Debbie said, I enjoyed
- 33:16Speaker 1: this episode. Charlton Heston was great. Indeed he was, and
- 33:19Speaker 1: as I said, in my opinion, he really elevated the
- 33:23Speaker 1: piece over the original that was seen in motion pictures.
- 33:27Speaker 1: All right, Well, as I said, that does it for
- 33:30Speaker 1: the saint. Next week on Monday, we'll be bringing you
- 33:34Speaker 1: Michael Shane and next Tuesday, Carstone of the desk Squad.
- 33:39Speaker 1: In the meantime, send your comments to Box thirteen at
- 33:42Speaker 1: Great Detectives dot net, follow us on Twitter at Radio Detectives,
- 33:47Speaker 1: and become one of our friends on Facebook, Facebook dot com.

- 33:54Speaker 1: Adam Grahamson and Off
