- 2:13Speaker 1: it's the Bulet Cavs show man. We got a special
- 2:15Speaker 1: guest in here, my brother Belly. Yes, sir, welcome, sir,
- 2:20Speaker 1: of course. Man, I've been extremely privileged to actually listen
- 2:24Speaker 1: to your new album that I don't know when it's
- 2:26Speaker 1: coming out. I don't know when it's coming out, but
- 2:29Speaker 1: you got you've got. You've got a few records out
- 2:31Speaker 1: from the album. You just dropped the money bay Yo
- 2:33Speaker 1: project or song rather and video right videos out yep.
- 2:38Speaker 1: But this album is it's got some uh. I don't
- 2:43Speaker 1: want to give away too many of your secrets, but
- 2:45Speaker 1: it is a man Hi. I mean, You've had, in
- 2:49Speaker 1: my opinion, like projects that I consider personal classics like
- 2:53Speaker 1: for me, but this project feels like some of these
- 2:58Speaker 1: names you got on the same song songs have never
- 3:01Speaker 1: been on songs together, and they're like the biggest of
- 3:04Speaker 1: the big Like this album feels like I know it's
- 3:07Speaker 1: not your debut album. I know it's not in any
- 3:10Speaker 1: means your debut, but it feels like like like your
- 3:12Speaker 1: biggest moment is like still still to come. Like yeah,
- 3:16Speaker 1: absolutely man. And I feel like the more the more
- 3:19Speaker 1: I created with this album, Like the further along I
- 3:21Speaker 1: got into the album, I was like, all right, there's something,
- 3:24Speaker 1: there's something happening here, you know what I mean, Like
- 3:26Speaker 1: just the songs we were able to create together and stuff.
- 3:31Speaker 1: It was just like a different experience. Even creating it
- 3:34Speaker 1: was different this time. I really took my time you
- 3:36Speaker 1: know normally. I'm just like, you know, well it's been
- 3:40Speaker 1: a few years, man, because Immigrant came out in twenty eighteen,
- 3:45Speaker 1: and that was your last project. Yeah, that was the
- 3:47Speaker 1: last one. That's insane. Yeah, what what made you take
- 3:52Speaker 1: so much time off? I want to say off, but
- 3:55Speaker 1: take so much time to work on a body of work.
- 3:57Speaker 1: I guess honestly, it wasn't all working on this project.
- 4:01Speaker 1: First was working on me. Yeah. I was gonna say
- 4:03Speaker 1: I wanted to get into that because I know you
- 4:05Speaker 1: went through some depression and ship the last few years,
- 4:07Speaker 1: and it was like it was it was like deeper
- 4:10Speaker 1: than that, you know what I mean, Like you know
- 4:12Speaker 1: they put titles on things we go through, you know
- 4:15Speaker 1: what I mean. But yeah, I was I was just
- 4:18Speaker 1: I was just in a position where I had been
- 4:19Speaker 1: in the game for so long. I kind of experienced
- 4:23Speaker 1: you know, the ups and the downs of the game,
- 4:25Speaker 1: and you know what I mean, everything the kind of
- 4:28Speaker 1: you know feel and I don't know, man, just got
- 4:30Speaker 1: to a point where I was like, it's all I've
- 4:32Speaker 1: ever done, Like I got I want to I want
- 4:34Speaker 1: to just sit down and just see what what my
- 4:37Speaker 1: you know, my brain comes up with, you know, what
- 4:39Speaker 1: I mean, And really it was it was like an
- 4:42Speaker 1: investment in myself because I didn't really work or at
- 4:46Speaker 1: least like you know, working away like where like money
- 4:50Speaker 1: was coming in all the time, like it was right,
- 4:52Speaker 1: I had to like block that, uh you know that
- 4:56Speaker 1: financial fucking yeah, because you're always motivated by the bags,
- 5:03Speaker 1: you know what I mean. It's like, yo, when you
- 5:04Speaker 1: have so much money coming in and and that you
- 5:06Speaker 1: kind of have that mental expectation in your head, like
- 5:09Speaker 1: I'm sure that's hard a hard thing to turn off. Yeah,
- 5:12Speaker 1: but it was like it was at a point where
- 5:14Speaker 1: it was like, cool, I could I could die right
- 5:16Speaker 1: now with however much money in the bank, and then
- 5:20Speaker 1: you have your residual money coming in anyway from publishing
- 5:23Speaker 1: and music and all that. But yeah, but I mean,
- 5:24Speaker 1: you know when when you when when you sit down,
- 5:28Speaker 1: like like the career that I was blessed enough to build, right,
- 5:32Speaker 1: it sustained a lifestyle that I was blessed enough to live.
- 5:36Speaker 1: And then when you cut that, you really realize how crazy, uh,
- 5:44Speaker 1: you know, spending habits just just just just the way
- 5:48Speaker 1: I was living was just crazy, you know what I mean.
- 5:49Speaker 1: So it was it was a good time for me
- 5:51Speaker 1: to just sit down and just like reassess everything and
- 5:54Speaker 1: uh and like really see, I was like, you know
- 5:57Speaker 1: how they say like let you know, let the bird
- 5:59Speaker 1: go and it comes back. DMX said that, and that's
- 6:02Speaker 1: all I remember. DMX said that if you love something,
- 6:04Speaker 1: let it go. Yeah. In facts, that's really facts, because
- 6:07Speaker 1: like I was like, yo, you know what if this
- 6:09Speaker 1: is if this is really for me the way I
- 6:11Speaker 1: know it's for me deep down the side, but that
- 6:14Speaker 1: don't matter right now. Like if it's really for me,
- 6:16Speaker 1: then something will draw me back to this and and
- 6:19Speaker 1: I'm gonna come back and I'm gonna feel better about
- 6:21Speaker 1: it than the first time I ever did it, you
- 6:23Speaker 1: know what I mean. So as far as music, music, yeah, yeah,
- 6:27Speaker 1: so so that's that's how music started to feel like
- 6:29Speaker 1: like you started to feel like work before the break,
- 6:34Speaker 1: before the hiatus, you know, yeah, job absolutely. And it
- 6:38Speaker 1: wasn't like I was, you know, being told like do
- 6:41Speaker 1: this or do it was just going in the studio
- 6:43Speaker 1: was just like all right, like you know like what
- 6:46Speaker 1: now you know what I mean? And you know it
- 6:50Speaker 1: just it just it was It was the best thing,
- 6:52Speaker 1: I think, the smartest thing I ever did in my
- 6:53Speaker 1: life was to just sit down for a second and
- 6:55Speaker 1: just take a breath and just you know, figure things out.
- 6:58Speaker 1: What was that motivation initially where you you came to
- 7:01Speaker 1: a point where you were like I gotta do this,
- 7:03Speaker 1: like I gotta it was? It was it were you
- 7:05Speaker 1: just overwhelmed? Like was there a breaking point where you
- 7:08Speaker 1: were like if I keep going down this path, I
- 7:11Speaker 1: might go crazy or something. What was it? I think
- 7:14Speaker 1: I was just like so focused on all the negative
- 7:17Speaker 1: things that were going on in my life, you know
- 7:18Speaker 1: what I mean. And it was a lot of things.
- 7:21Speaker 1: It was things on a family level, right, things on
- 7:25Speaker 1: you know, obviously financial levels and all everything. You know,
- 7:28Speaker 1: there was a lot of things going on with my
- 7:29Speaker 1: career everything. So I think I think like when I
- 7:36Speaker 1: initially when I wanted to step back and you know,
- 7:39Speaker 1: really take the break, it wasn't like a decision I made.
- 7:42Speaker 1: It was I just can't go there right now, you
- 7:46Speaker 1: know what I mean. They like, oh, there's this this
- 7:49Speaker 1: thing going on or this event or this session or whatever.
- 7:51Speaker 1: I just can't. I can't go there right now. I
- 7:54Speaker 1: can't Like I wouldn't even I would be doing you
- 7:56Speaker 1: with the service if I showed up in this state,
- 8:00Speaker 1: like I'm not I'm no good to nobody right now.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I just need to go somewhere and just figure my
- 8:04Speaker 1: life out, you know what I mean. So that's what
- 8:06Speaker 1: I did. It wasn't like a specific moment. It was
- 8:09Speaker 1: just like me just just being so repelled by the
- 8:13Speaker 1: other ship that I just wanted to get away from it,
- 8:14Speaker 1: you know. And what what Because I remember I tapped
- 8:19Speaker 1: back in with you, I think late last year or
- 8:21Speaker 1: something with talk and you were like, yo, man, you know,
- 8:23Speaker 1: I've went through a real bout of like being down,
- 8:26Speaker 1: you know what I mean? And what exactly like was
- 8:28Speaker 1: the breaking through point for you where you were motivated
- 8:32Speaker 1: again to make incredible music because your album is incredible.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Thank you man, Thank you. You know, I'm blessed. I'm
- 8:39Speaker 1: blessed to be around some geniuses and some people that
- 8:43Speaker 1: do what they do with the highest level, you know
- 8:45Speaker 1: what I mean. And I think just getting to watch
- 8:49Speaker 1: Able firsthand, you know, the Weekend first and of course
- 8:51Speaker 1: music and just Crazy Run he was on. I mean,
- 8:55Speaker 1: I mean just that album. I feel like it's just
- 8:57Speaker 1: I've never seen an album with more legs like yeah, man,
- 9:00Speaker 1: like he's gonna tour for that album next year and
- 9:03Speaker 1: it came out of twenty nineteen, Like it's crazy, and
- 9:05Speaker 1: honestly the album deserves it because it's like those are
- 9:08Speaker 1: the things that inspire me. When I watch someone put
- 9:09Speaker 1: together a masterpiece like that and I got front rod,
- 9:12Speaker 1: you know, seats to the show, like that's that's inspired.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Those are some of the moments that made me be like, yo, yeah,
- 9:19Speaker 1: you know what I do. I do love this. There's
- 9:21Speaker 1: something about this to that that like, you know, it's
- 9:23Speaker 1: it's something that's different than anything else on the planet.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Nothing else can make me feel like this. So those
- 9:29Speaker 1: those are the moments that started to kind of swing
- 9:31Speaker 1: me back, you know what I mean. Yeah, I mean creatively,
- 9:33Speaker 1: like I feel like you're kind of a When I
- 9:36Speaker 1: meet other Belly fans, it's like we're like we're like, uh,
- 9:40Speaker 1: it's almost like an exclusive sneaker club or something. You
- 9:43Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Like like if you know, you
- 9:46Speaker 1: know type shit like oh you fuck with Belly? Oh shit,
- 9:49Speaker 1: Like yeah, you know what I mean. I love that though.
- 9:51Speaker 1: I love that. I love that man, yeah, because I
- 9:54Speaker 1: still feel somehow you're still you still don't get your
- 9:58Speaker 1: flowers as far as just your talent in your catalog,
- 10:02Speaker 1: and you know, when we talk about the best rappers,
- 10:06Speaker 1: and obviously you haven't, you know, you've taken taken a
- 10:08Speaker 1: few years off, but just in general, I feel like
- 10:10Speaker 1: your name is should be in more of those conversations.
- 10:14Speaker 1: It's cool. I think it will be, you know, I
- 10:17Speaker 1: think it will be like I get to feed my
- 10:20Speaker 1: family with this man, I get to support my life.
- 10:23Speaker 1: I get to do whatever I basically want to do,
- 10:26Speaker 1: doing something I love every day. You know. And by
- 10:28Speaker 1: the way, congrats, I know you and your girl just
- 10:31Speaker 1: took a big old step and you told me about it,
- 10:34Speaker 1: like like last month or something that. Yeah, absolutely, man.
- 10:36Speaker 1: You had to go to New York to meet her family.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Yeah yeah. When I met the family, amazing people. Man.
- 10:42Speaker 1: It was like, you know, it just showed me. You know,
- 10:45Speaker 1: like when you look at somebody's family and they're that good,
- 10:48Speaker 1: You're like, Okay, I know exactly where you came from.
- 10:51Speaker 1: And if I remember correctly, you're saying your girls Catholic
- 10:54Speaker 1: or her family's Catholic, and you're obviously from a Muslim background, right,
- 10:58Speaker 1: so when you went out there, you tell me the
- 11:01Speaker 1: story about you gifted her parents something you had to
- 11:04Speaker 1: go get a statue somewhere. Yeah, I mean it wasn't
- 11:07Speaker 1: don't have to it was but no, but but but
- 11:09Speaker 1: but you got you know, you went out there to
- 11:11Speaker 1: make an impression obviously, as we all have, you know
- 11:13Speaker 1: what I mean. Yeah, yeah, I think, yeah, man, I
- 11:16Speaker 1: went out there, and honestly, I was. I was nervous
- 11:18Speaker 1: because other times and other points in my life when
- 11:22Speaker 1: this situation would arise, like with you know, previous relationships
- 11:25Speaker 1: and or whatever, man, I would I would show up
- 11:28Speaker 1: to the house and they would, man, they would go
- 11:31Speaker 1: in you know what I mean, like they would I
- 11:32Speaker 1: would be in an interrogation room basically, right, you know.
- 11:36Speaker 1: And and so I think this time I was like
- 11:38Speaker 1: mad nervous, you know. I wanted to make sure I
- 11:39Speaker 1: did everything right. And uh, you know, I went bought
- 11:44Speaker 1: the gift obviously, I bought some wine, and I went
- 11:47Speaker 1: to the crib. And mind you, I don't I don't
- 11:49Speaker 1: really get nervous over a lot, you know what I mean, Like,
- 11:52Speaker 1: it really takes a lot to get me nervous. I
- 11:54Speaker 1: was damn there shaking, you know. But from the first moment, man,
- 11:58Speaker 1: like the door open, you know, her Pops was just
- 12:01Speaker 1: like open arms invited me in. It was it was
- 12:04Speaker 1: for me, it was a new experience. I've never I've
- 12:06Speaker 1: never had that happen. Yeah, yeah, you know, so it
- 12:08Speaker 1: was it was just really dope to have to have
- 12:11Speaker 1: like that type of like welcoming response and just really
- 12:14Speaker 1: really good people. Are you? Uh is this because obviously
- 12:18Speaker 1: you know, being belly, being somebody who's uh your your
- 12:23Speaker 1: your wraps are extremely uh descriptive when it comes to
- 12:27Speaker 1: women and ship. You know what I'm saying is, uh
- 12:30Speaker 1: is how hard is it for you to like like
- 12:32Speaker 1: like make a conscious decision to be like, you know what,
- 12:35Speaker 1: I found the one? Like it was that because I
- 12:38Speaker 1: think we've all been in situations where we are we
- 12:41Speaker 1: think we're in love, but I think a lot of
- 12:43Speaker 1: it's lust, right, But to really find that one person
- 12:46Speaker 1: and I just got married a couple of years ago,
- 12:48Speaker 1: it's like it just feels different, man like and like
- 12:51Speaker 1: you could again you have a that's the best thing
- 12:54Speaker 1: in the world, though, Yeah, it's really the best thing, Like,
- 12:57Speaker 1: you know, from me, I think when I when I
- 13:02Speaker 1: found that, I wasn't looking for it, and that was
- 13:05Speaker 1: the best. That's the best part about it. Best part
- 13:07Speaker 1: about it. It's like I don't think she was neither.
- 13:10Speaker 1: I mean, it was just it just happened. And I
- 13:13Speaker 1: think that's like, I know it sounds cliche and all that,
- 13:17Speaker 1: but that's really me and my wife. Like I didn't.
- 13:19Speaker 1: I was no. I got out of a real shitty
- 13:22Speaker 1: uh not married with a relationship with my son's mom.
- 13:25Speaker 1: It was terrible, and I was like, all right, finally
- 13:27Speaker 1: I'm free. I'm gonna just get it out. It's good.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Yo yo yo, yo yo, all right. But I was
- 13:36Speaker 1: like ready to just take down. I was ready to
- 13:39Speaker 1: catch some bodies in these streets. And then I'm her
- 13:42Speaker 1: and I connected and I was like, damn, look at this.
- 13:46Speaker 1: I was not expecting this ship. That's really how it be, man,
- 13:50Speaker 1: And like I'm I'm over all that other ship, like
- 13:53Speaker 1: I said, like the like the like the life quote
- 13:55Speaker 1: unquot Yeah, like I think you know we've lived that ship. Man,
- 13:58Speaker 1: it should turn me off so much that I walked
- 14:01Speaker 1: away from the game. Like that's like that whole ship
- 14:04Speaker 1: I think comes with so much baggage and like of
- 14:06Speaker 1: course evil shit around it. Like I just it was
- 14:09Speaker 1: a good thing for me to leave all of it.
- 14:11Speaker 1: And then on top of that. Just having somebody like
- 14:14Speaker 1: Dina in my life like she was, it was like
- 14:17Speaker 1: an important moment for me to meet her, go into
- 14:21Speaker 1: my next like where you were in life like she
- 14:23Speaker 1: kind of Yeah, I feel important man, like she really
- 14:26Speaker 1: even when I was down on my you know, my worst, like,
- 14:28Speaker 1: she nurtured me back, leveled you up, man, got you back. Yeah,
- 14:32Speaker 1: And you know it's a blessing, bro. Like I that
- 14:34Speaker 1: to me is one of the best things, if not
- 14:36Speaker 1: the best thing that ever happened to me, is you know,
- 14:38Speaker 1: locking down with one person, having one person that I
- 14:40Speaker 1: know got my back and I got hers. That's amazing. Bro.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Why is the album called See You Next Wednesday? Man?
- 14:50Speaker 1: So I, Man, I go down rabbit holes with ship,
- 14:53Speaker 1: you know what I mean? So I with movies and
- 14:55Speaker 1: all that. Of course, John Landis he directed like thriller,
- 15:00Speaker 1: bunch of hit movies in the early nineties, and he
- 15:03Speaker 1: would always sneak that into his movies. I See You
- 15:06Speaker 1: Next Wednesday would be like a billboard or like a thriller.
- 15:10Speaker 1: When Michael Jackson gets up to walk out of the theater,
- 15:14Speaker 1: you hear the voice whisper see you Next Wednesday in
- 15:17Speaker 1: the background. That was like his Easter egg and got
- 15:20Speaker 1: a lot of his movies, right, So I thought that
- 15:24Speaker 1: was cool. Just just like that, I was just like, oh,
- 15:26Speaker 1: as dope as hell, like I'll just you know, I
- 15:28Speaker 1: want to pay homage to John Landis, you know what
- 15:30Speaker 1: I mean. And I dug deeper obviously the rabbit hole,
- 15:34Speaker 1: you know what I mean, you'd be high as fuck
- 15:35Speaker 1: just trying to find out more. And finally I got
- 15:40Speaker 1: to the to the to the gist of the whole
- 15:43Speaker 1: thing is that was the first script that he wrote
- 15:46Speaker 1: and it never got made right, and that in that
- 15:51Speaker 1: position that I was in in that moment, it was
- 15:54Speaker 1: It was crazy because when I read that, I was like,
- 15:57Speaker 1: I I know why, this is like kind of call
- 16:00Speaker 1: on my name, you know what I mean? Because the
- 16:02Speaker 1: way the dots connected it, it just felt like the
- 16:04Speaker 1: same thing I was going through it, like I'm making
- 16:06Speaker 1: some shit right now. I don't even know if it's
- 16:09Speaker 1: going to see the light of day. I don't know
- 16:10Speaker 1: if I'm gonna come back to let it see the
- 16:11Speaker 1: light of day, you know what I mean. So when
- 16:14Speaker 1: you were working on this project, you were just working
- 16:16Speaker 1: on it for you. You were working on it like
- 16:18Speaker 1: to turn it into your label or to like, yo,
- 16:21Speaker 1: this is a hit, or you know now you were
- 16:23Speaker 1: just working. Yeah, it was honestly for me, it was
- 16:26Speaker 1: like getting in there and testing and challenging myself to
- 16:30Speaker 1: be like, Okay, what you did yesterday sucked. Like I
- 16:35Speaker 1: had to like really just give myself talks because you know,
- 16:38Speaker 1: like I said, it was like relearning all of this shit.
- 16:41Speaker 1: You know, you walk away from it for so long.
- 16:43Speaker 1: It was always my outlet, like my way to like
- 16:45Speaker 1: say things and all that, you know, So it was
- 16:47Speaker 1: really hard to not have that anymore, to be going
- 16:51Speaker 1: through shit that I want to talk about and I
- 16:53Speaker 1: want to be able to put in songs. But it's
- 16:55Speaker 1: just the way my brain is taking it. It's not
- 16:58Speaker 1: letting me, you know what I mean. It's not letting
- 16:59Speaker 1: me put nothing on paper. I can't think of nothing
- 17:02Speaker 1: witty to say around these things, or nothing poetic to
- 17:06Speaker 1: say around these things. It was just too black and
- 17:08Speaker 1: white in my head for me, you know what I mean.
- 17:10Speaker 1: So I think it was like a challenge to myself
- 17:13Speaker 1: to get in there every day and be like I
- 17:15Speaker 1: fuck that, Like I'm I gotta break this wall and
- 17:17Speaker 1: like do what I do, you know, just you know,
- 17:20Speaker 1: it's really what I do best, you know, so day
- 17:23Speaker 1: by day I really just had to just build myself
- 17:27Speaker 1: back up, and you know, God blessed the album ended
- 17:29Speaker 1: up being what it was. But really, if it didn't
- 17:31Speaker 1: go there and I wasn't as proud as I am
- 17:34Speaker 1: of this project, then that really would have been my
- 17:38Speaker 1: see you next Wednesday, John Landa Style. Yeah, I think
- 17:41Speaker 1: you and I might have even had like I think
- 17:43Speaker 1: we each when I said that was my favorite songer Like,
- 17:45Speaker 1: that's crazy because that was my favorite. So I'm trying
- 17:47Speaker 1: to remember what the name of it was. I don't
- 17:48Speaker 1: want to give away if it wasn't any it wasn't
- 17:51Speaker 1: a record with a big feature, though it might have
- 17:52Speaker 1: been something to do with the devil or demons or something.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Was Is there a record light? I'm trying to think
- 17:59Speaker 1: there was some some man, the album is crazy, But
- 18:02Speaker 1: I feel like on this project you definitely touch on
- 18:05Speaker 1: a lot of personal ship that you've You've always kind
- 18:10Speaker 1: of grazed over a lot of your personal life, like
- 18:13Speaker 1: ship with your pop stuff like that. Like I feel
- 18:15Speaker 1: like on this project, like you really dive into some
- 18:17Speaker 1: some issues that you know you've gone through and ship
- 18:20Speaker 1: like talk about there's your journey with with with drugs
- 18:24Speaker 1: and ship, because that's something that you've always been very
- 18:26Speaker 1: upfront about, whether it's get like being super loaded on ship,
- 18:32Speaker 1: getting clean or et cetera. Like where how are you
- 18:35Speaker 1: doing now? You know when it comes to obviously we're
- 18:38Speaker 1: not talking about weed and ship, you know what I
- 18:40Speaker 1: mean when it comes to the other ship. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 18:45Speaker 1: I quite like quote unquote hard drugs right right, right
- 18:49Speaker 1: right quit a couple of years ago. Hard liquor too.
- 18:52Speaker 1: I don't drink hard liquor no more so you don't
- 18:55Speaker 1: you when you say hard liquor, so you're not drinking tequila.
- 18:57Speaker 1: You're just just just wine wine, maybe like maybe sak
- 19:02Speaker 1: sometimes I stuff like that. But it's just like wead
- 19:06Speaker 1: wine and psychedelics for you know, you were talking me
- 19:11Speaker 1: and you had a conversation about psychedelics, but right before
- 19:16Speaker 1: you came out and you said you were thinking about
- 19:18Speaker 1: writing a book or you're gonna write a psychedelic inspired book, right, absolutely, yeah,
- 19:23Speaker 1: what's it? What's it gonna be called? How psychedelics saved
- 19:27Speaker 1: my life? Tell me how they saved your life? Man? Well,
- 19:31Speaker 1: I think again the rabbit hole, Yes, I started reading
- 19:34Speaker 1: a lot of a lot of literature about just dosing,
- 19:39Speaker 1: what different doses could do for you, and it just
- 19:44Speaker 1: all depends on the effect that you want, you know
- 19:46Speaker 1: what I mean. So I started microdosing in the middle
- 19:50Speaker 1: of wow ship that was going on. Of course, of
- 19:54Speaker 1: course I started microdosing. And I'm not gonna say like, oh,
- 19:58Speaker 1: it was like this magical fucking just wake up and
- 20:01Speaker 1: everything is you know, chipper. It was like slowly over time,
- 20:08Speaker 1: like I started to gain a little more clarity and uh,
- 20:13Speaker 1: you know it just it just kind of helped me
- 20:14Speaker 1: find not even like a happiness, but it just helped
- 20:17Speaker 1: me find like like the like the beauty and a
- 20:19Speaker 1: lot of ship, you know what I mean. Like I'd
- 20:21Speaker 1: go outside and like, damn, that's a that's a fucking
- 20:23Speaker 1: beautiful flower, you know right. I would have never stopped before,
- 20:27Speaker 1: you know, So I just I don't know, it just
- 20:29Speaker 1: and I was microdosing. So it wasn't like making me
- 20:31Speaker 1: like a loose. Yeah, it was just like kind of
- 20:37Speaker 1: just uplifting my days, you know, when it was going on.
- 20:40Speaker 1: And I think you know, from there that was like
- 20:44Speaker 1: LSD microdosing and water and then now I do shroom
- 20:50Speaker 1: tea most of the time. Yeah, see, I've never done
- 20:52Speaker 1: the shroom tea. So how much would you put in
- 20:55Speaker 1: the tea? Like, because it depends really like depends on
- 21:00Speaker 1: what kind of day you're trying to Yeah, Like I
- 21:02Speaker 1: like a light vibe. Like I might put a half
- 21:04Speaker 1: a quarter, okay, to the whole pot, which is like,
- 21:07Speaker 1: you know, six probably six tea bags and that right there.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Like if you want to get fucked up, you still
- 21:16Speaker 1: can if you drink all of it more than a
- 21:19Speaker 1: few glasses, you know what I'm saying, Like, you'll definitely
- 21:21Speaker 1: get fucked up. But I just sip as slow. I'll
- 21:24Speaker 1: be in the studio work and creating ship and I
- 21:26Speaker 1: sip it slow, and it's just it's like a it's
- 21:28Speaker 1: like a different type of vibe. Man. It's just it's
- 21:30Speaker 1: like like it helps my brain in different types of ways.
- 21:33Speaker 1: So when you say psychedelics save your life, you would
- 21:37Speaker 1: you say, because I for people who don't know. I
- 21:39Speaker 1: think a lot of people don't understand like the therapeutic
- 21:43Speaker 1: benefits of of shrooms and even M D M A
- 21:46Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, in certain instances. But but
- 21:50Speaker 1: is that would you consider like your experience with psychedelics
- 21:53Speaker 1: to be therapeutic. Absolutely, it didn't used to be, right,
- 21:56Speaker 1: It used to be more probably recreational, right it used
- 21:59Speaker 1: to be Yeah, it was, it was creational. And it's
- 22:00Speaker 1: like I was sitting in between where like the positive
- 22:05Speaker 1: effects would you know, it's like the hero dose, which
- 22:09Speaker 1: is all all I mean, yeah, it's gonna make you
- 22:11Speaker 1: discover yourself. And then there's the microdose, which is you
- 22:15Speaker 1: know for your mental health, right, you know, just just
- 22:18Speaker 1: like again, if you microdose, you can have a productive day,
- 22:21Speaker 1: go to work, you can you know, do all that
- 22:22Speaker 1: sho have a more productive day. Yes, that's I think
- 22:24Speaker 1: that's why people do it. Yeah, so you haven't done
- 22:27Speaker 1: the hero dose yet because I remember we talked and
- 22:30Speaker 1: you were saying that you want to do it, but
- 22:32Speaker 1: but you're not ready yet. Yeah, it's got to get
- 22:36Speaker 1: you know, it's still like coming out the dark space.
- 22:39Speaker 1: I want to be fully out before because that's something
- 22:41Speaker 1: that's something that's like serious. That's that's man, it's for me.
- 22:46Speaker 1: You look, shrooms never really sat well with me. Ah
- 22:51Speaker 1: when I was younger, like when we were taking shrooms recreationally,
- 22:54Speaker 1: like I used to bat trip like all the time. Wow,
- 22:57Speaker 1: what I mean like and I don't want to say
- 22:59Speaker 1: like bad, so you know, overused. I mean, just like
- 23:03Speaker 1: you know, that uncomfortable kind of dark feeling, it turned
- 23:07Speaker 1: into a fucking burning movie, you know for sure. Like
- 23:11Speaker 1: that's that's how a lot of my trips started to
- 23:14Speaker 1: feel like. You know, so I think shrooms. My love
- 23:17Speaker 1: for shrooms came back when I started microdosing shrooms and
- 23:20Speaker 1: making tea and stuff like that, because I was like, Okay,
- 23:23Speaker 1: this is the dose that my body appreciates, right, this
- 23:26Speaker 1: is what this is exactly what I like, you know
- 23:28Speaker 1: what I mean. And it's been like I said, man,
- 23:31Speaker 1: it's been therapeutic, life changing. Since have you dabbled in
- 23:36Speaker 1: in DMT yet, it's very crackheadish. I mean you literally
- 23:41Speaker 1: smoke it out of a crack pipe. So just if
- 23:44Speaker 1: you ever decided to do that, I'm definitely not You're
- 23:47Speaker 1: gonna dispend anything out of a crack pipe. You're going
- 23:49Speaker 1: to disappear for fifteen minutes, You're gone. Yeah, I've heard.
- 23:53Speaker 1: I mean a lot of my friends have done it,
- 23:55Speaker 1: you know, and and stuff like that. But that ship
- 23:57Speaker 1: and then the other ship is the Ayahuashka, which is
- 23:59Speaker 1: like a but that you you got to do with
- 24:01Speaker 1: the shaman go to Costa Rica, you know, I mean,
- 24:04Speaker 1: you could do it in Orange County, you know what
- 24:05Speaker 1: I mean? Yeah, send me the address. Yeah, no, no,
- 24:10Speaker 1: that's that's the man. I think. I think. Like money
- 24:12Speaker 1: Man just tweeted this the other day. He was like,
- 24:14Speaker 1: we're not doing uh pills no more, only shrooms. He
- 24:17Speaker 1: was like the first rapper in that kind of space
- 24:20Speaker 1: that I saw kind of say that, you know what
- 24:21Speaker 1: I mean, Because I'm like, you know, a a lot of
- 24:22Speaker 1: these kids are so fucking you know, perked out fentanyl
- 24:26Speaker 1: and all this ship and it's like, man, I think
- 24:28Speaker 1: I think shrooms has gotta be the next wave. Bro. Man,
- 24:31Speaker 1: that ship is all them pills and all them opioids
- 24:34Speaker 1: and all that shit is so garbage, man, Yeah, so garbage.
- 24:39Speaker 1: It's just dangerous. Just I feel like you're gambling with
- 24:40Speaker 1: your life every time you do it because you don't
- 24:42Speaker 1: know what the fuck you're getting. It's it's like, it's
- 24:45Speaker 1: it's a sad thing to see, bro for real, because
- 24:48Speaker 1: you know, you only you only hear one time. It
- 24:53Speaker 1: just takes one bad pill take you off the map.
- 24:56Speaker 1: You only hear once, man, what was the worst experience
- 24:59Speaker 1: you had with drugs man, where maybe like you were like, damn,
- 25:02Speaker 1: like this shit, Really I got to reconsider what the
- 25:06Speaker 1: fuck I got going on over here. I had a
- 25:10Speaker 1: bad situation happened to me a couple of times, but
- 25:14Speaker 1: the one that always comes to mind is that I
- 25:16Speaker 1: was in New York. You know, I was like going
- 25:20Speaker 1: through a breakup at the time. You know, shit was
- 25:24Speaker 1: just just felt, you know, for me. A lot of
- 25:27Speaker 1: times when I get in them dark spaces, I just
- 25:29Speaker 1: feel like the world is all against me. Everybody's against
- 25:31Speaker 1: me everything, you know what I mean. Yeah, so I
- 25:34Speaker 1: just sat in my hotel room, I answered the phone,
- 25:38Speaker 1: and I just got high, bro, like whatever I could
- 25:41Speaker 1: get my hands on. I was just like trying to
- 25:43Speaker 1: escape whatever my reality was at that time. Then I
- 25:46Speaker 1: woke up on the bathroom floor. Yeah wow, like all right,
- 25:53Speaker 1: here was bruised. I guess I had fallen, you know
- 25:56Speaker 1: what I mean, ship And that was like that was
- 25:59Speaker 1: like the awakening, That's the beginning of the end. I
- 26:02Speaker 1: didn't I didn't quit there. I didn't because I was,
- 26:05Speaker 1: you know, still messed up, you know what I mean.
- 26:08Speaker 1: But yeah, so it's also a lot if you're on
- 26:10Speaker 1: that ship regularly, people don't understand how hard it is.
- 26:12Speaker 1: You just like to quit cold turkey off. Some of
- 26:14Speaker 1: that ship is not healthy. Yeah, to be honest, you know,
- 26:18Speaker 1: but I'm glad man. I grew a lot. I think
- 26:22Speaker 1: I'm the type of person I got to experience things.
- 26:24Speaker 1: I gotta like, you can tell me a thousand times
- 26:27Speaker 1: with something might do. The stove is hot, the stove
- 26:29Speaker 1: is hot, you go fight. You got cool? Yeah, you're right,
- 26:32Speaker 1: you know, Like that's how I am. So you know,
- 26:36Speaker 1: it was a blessing in disguise that really showed me
- 26:38Speaker 1: everything that I never want to be. That's some real ship,
- 26:42Speaker 1: I think. I think too, Like like you said, like
- 26:44Speaker 1: we we I mean, especially you and I probably similar
- 26:46Speaker 1: in age. We kind of came up in a different
- 26:49Speaker 1: era of socially when it came to some of those drugs,
- 26:53Speaker 1: and I think it became so like it's so accepted
- 26:57Speaker 1: to get into certain drugs that if it was the nineties,
- 27:00Speaker 1: people would like clown you for And like you said,
- 27:03Speaker 1: like you know, you go through a situation like that,
- 27:07Speaker 1: it really makes you look at yourself and be like, damn,
- 27:10Speaker 1: I I if I was looking at me from another
- 27:13Speaker 1: person's body, but look at this fucking guy like that's
- 27:17Speaker 1: really what it is. And honestly that's see I approach
- 27:19Speaker 1: life like outwardly like that, because you know, people will
- 27:24Speaker 1: be like, oh, Yo, don't you know, don't don't get
- 27:26Speaker 1: around this person or this style. This guy's a bad
- 27:28Speaker 1: and I'm like, Yo, you could learn what not to
- 27:31Speaker 1: be from somebody and it could be equally as important
- 27:35Speaker 1: as learning what to be from somebody else, you know
- 27:37Speaker 1: what I mean? And I had to learn what I
- 27:40Speaker 1: didn't want to fuck be, you know. That was that
- 27:42Speaker 1: was that moment and looking at me like yo, to say,
- 27:45Speaker 1: I don't like this for myself. I wanted a shout
- 27:49Speaker 1: out to to the homies, the La Leakers, because I
- 27:51Speaker 1: feel like you've you just did three for three on
- 27:53Speaker 1: the freestyle Brothers. Yeah, that first one was so crazy,
- 27:58Speaker 1: I felt because that first one happened after the Flex one.
- 28:01Speaker 1: That I thought was that that was after the Flex one, right, Yeah,
- 28:04Speaker 1: when Flex did his top freestyles and you put you
- 28:05Speaker 1: in there after it was the fucking weirdess shit ever
- 28:07Speaker 1: But anyway, I digress, but Yo, you you came that
- 28:11Speaker 1: that that first Leakers freestyle was so crazy because I
- 28:16Speaker 1: know Hove was a fan of it, and there were
- 28:18Speaker 1: so many like I feel like that kind of woke
- 28:20Speaker 1: a lot of people up as far as like, Yo,
- 28:22Speaker 1: who the fuck is this guy, Belly Who? I mean,
- 28:24Speaker 1: obviously people didn't know who you were already, but like,
- 28:26Speaker 1: how important was that first freestyle to like just everything
- 28:30Speaker 1: for you? You know what I mean? Because I felt
- 28:31Speaker 1: like it really kind of puts you in a whole
- 28:32Speaker 1: nother space. Yeah, I agree, that really had more of
- 28:39Speaker 1: an effect than some of my you know, biggest songs
- 28:41Speaker 1: or like singles right that were out. So I go back.
- 28:46Speaker 1: I probably listen to that thing twice a month. Man,
- 28:48Speaker 1: I'm forced to listen to it. I still get tagged
- 28:50Speaker 1: in that freestyle every day, you know, hero villain. This
- 28:53Speaker 1: is all perspective, no false elections. Yeah, but yeah, it did.
- 28:58Speaker 1: It did a lot for me, man, It really changed
- 29:01Speaker 1: my life. And I think the dopest part about it
- 29:04Speaker 1: for me was what it did just amongst my peers,
- 29:07Speaker 1: you know, mm hmm, because a lot of a lot
- 29:09Speaker 1: of you know, colleagues of people in the game that
- 29:12Speaker 1: I know or work with or just vibe with whatever,
- 29:15Speaker 1: you know, we know of each other's talents, you know
- 29:18Speaker 1: what I'm saying. But I don't think a lot of
- 29:21Speaker 1: even like my own friends or peers knew you had
- 29:24Speaker 1: it like that, knew I was going to go in
- 29:25Speaker 1: there and do that, you know, So I think, you know,
- 29:27Speaker 1: it just it just like gave me like this new
- 29:31Speaker 1: found kind of like perspective or gave other people like
- 29:36Speaker 1: a new right people who weren't already tapped in. Yeah,
- 29:38Speaker 1: for sure. So I think that was like the dopest part. Yeah,
- 29:42Speaker 1: was that because that freestyle came out in was it
- 29:46Speaker 1: twenty eighteen? I think it was twenty eighteen? Was it
- 29:51Speaker 1: was it earlier? Was it twenty seventeen? Was earlier than that?
- 29:53Speaker 1: It was maybe twenty seventeen there, twenty seventeen, probably because
- 29:56Speaker 1: after that you did mumble Rap, I feel like, and
- 29:59Speaker 1: Mumble Rap was like, I think, a project that doesn't
- 30:02Speaker 1: get talked about it enough because it was just bars.
- 30:05Speaker 1: I mean, it was like you know, it was it
- 30:09Speaker 1: was something I had to do. Man at that point.
- 30:11Speaker 1: I think at that point, not a lot of people
- 30:12Speaker 1: were putting out projects like that, like I feel like now,
- 30:15Speaker 1: especially because of what you know, Griselda did and you know,
- 30:19Speaker 1: came back or literally just put They stumped the fucking
- 30:23Speaker 1: game out with this ship, you know what I mean.
- 30:25Speaker 1: So I feel like now everybody's really inclined to want to,
- 30:28Speaker 1: you know, put out rap music and come back to
- 30:31Speaker 1: the bars. And you know, yeah, I think what happened
- 30:33Speaker 1: too because I think, you know, Griselda has been actively
- 30:36Speaker 1: around that time, they were active, you know. I just
- 30:38Speaker 1: think that I think that what was dope about the
- 30:40Speaker 1: pandemic And obviously Griselda was on fire before the pandemic,
- 30:46Speaker 1: but I think it just kind of made people listen
- 30:47Speaker 1: to music differently because they weren't standing on couches anymore.
- 30:51Speaker 1: They had to listen in their car at home or
- 30:53Speaker 1: in their headphones. So I think if you like, look
- 30:55Speaker 1: at the Best Rap Album category from the Grammys last year,
- 30:58Speaker 1: it's like us a lot. It's a lot of just
- 31:01Speaker 1: bars in this motherfucker. So I think, you know, guys
- 31:04Speaker 1: like Freddie Gibbs and for Rayster five nine and all
- 31:07Speaker 1: these guys who have been putting in work. I just
- 31:09Speaker 1: think it was like last year was such a good
- 31:11Speaker 1: year for real. I'm not talking about them like now
- 31:15Speaker 1: now we know Freddy and of course no, I didn't
- 31:18Speaker 1: know they're gonna put out some rap shit. I'm talking
- 31:19Speaker 1: about people that we wouldn't expect to put out rap
- 31:23Speaker 1: ship right now, right right, being like Yo, you know,
- 31:25Speaker 1: like like shit I could rap, you know what I'm saying,
- 31:27Speaker 1: trying to and trying to do something that maybe three
- 31:30Speaker 1: or four years ago they would have even tried. You
- 31:32Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. Oh, that's for sure. I think
- 31:34Speaker 1: like that shift is kind of like evident now. No,
- 31:37Speaker 1: I think so too, and I think it's been It's
- 31:40Speaker 1: It's great for me as a fan because I was
- 31:42Speaker 1: in the like money back Yo's album and I'd be like, Yo,
- 31:45Speaker 1: there's some ship on here that I wouldn't have heard,
- 31:48Speaker 1: you know, And I love Yo's album, Like, but there's
- 31:51Speaker 1: some ship on there, and I'm like, this is some
- 31:53Speaker 1: ill like just hip hop ship, Like yeah, man, money
- 31:56Speaker 1: Bag Yo's were them guys bro talented, very talented, got
- 32:00Speaker 1: talented as a hip hop head yourself, who are you like,
- 32:04Speaker 1: obviously you got Benny on the project. I mean you
- 32:07Speaker 1: got some other legends on the album. But who are
- 32:11Speaker 1: you a fan of? Right? They say we've got nas
- 32:13Speaker 1: on the album. Oh, I don't know. Listen, I don't
- 32:14Speaker 1: want to be Okay, so you got nas on the album.
- 32:17Speaker 1: We've got Boozy the Weekend. No not, we can't say that.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Oh okay, so I believe that the Weekends. I'll let
- 32:28Speaker 1: you tell everyone who you're comfortable with the telling who's
- 32:30Speaker 1: on the album because yeah yeah, yeah, so we got
- 32:33Speaker 1: the Weekend and NOAs it's a joint called that for it. Okay.
- 32:36Speaker 1: So yeah, so they're on the same song together, all right,
- 32:38Speaker 1: we get talking with songs fucking crazy, it's fucking crazy,
- 32:41Speaker 1: and we shot the video. I'll show you the video.
- 32:44Speaker 1: We were talking like, Yo, this should got to be
- 32:46Speaker 1: like victory type video, like, man, yeah, I think, uh,
- 32:50Speaker 1: you know, it's an incredible visual, bro, Like it's just
- 32:53Speaker 1: it really looks like a movie obviously. Benny Yeah, yeah,
- 32:58Speaker 1: money bag yo, yeah, money bag yo. Man, I got
- 33:05Speaker 1: able again on another joint. Yes, but you know that'll
- 33:09Speaker 1: come out. He's on the total with three now. The
- 33:13Speaker 1: third one is just he's just doing bad but he's
- 33:16Speaker 1: on there though, but he's just doing the background vocal
- 33:17Speaker 1: because remember when I heard it, You're like, yo, that's
- 33:19Speaker 1: him doing background vocals. I'm like, bro, you got it.
- 33:20Speaker 1: You got it on your own three times technically that's
- 33:23Speaker 1: pretty crazy, man, this is super dope. What was it like,
- 33:29Speaker 1: like rapping up on a song with Nas, because that
- 33:33Speaker 1: is scary. Yeah, that's got to be scary, right, you know,
- 33:37Speaker 1: like obviously it's a fucking one of the biggest honors
- 33:40Speaker 1: of my life of course ship, you know what I mean.
- 33:42Speaker 1: It's somebody that I've learned from and respected and looked
- 33:45Speaker 1: up to, you know, half my life. So but scary, man,
- 33:51Speaker 1: it's like, I hope not just don't watch me on
- 33:54Speaker 1: this ship, you know what I mean. That's that's really
- 33:55Speaker 1: how I felt. And my verse was there was already
- 33:59Speaker 1: done time I sent it, you know, So you're you
- 34:02Speaker 1: had to send your verse in like because some people will,
- 34:05Speaker 1: you know, they might get the NAS verse back and
- 34:07Speaker 1: they might revisit their verse. That's that's that's against the rules. Okay, yeah,
- 34:12Speaker 1: so that's the unwritten rules. But some people do that.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Shout out to memory llll did that on the four
- 34:17Speaker 1: three two one joint, and that's how the whole cannabis
- 34:18Speaker 1: shit happened. Oh I didn't even know that. Yeah, but nah.
- 34:22Speaker 1: So so when you got NAS's verse back, where you like,
- 34:26Speaker 1: I held my own. I mean, man, I'm I'm I'm
- 34:31Speaker 1: just I'm just glad he did what he did on it. Man,
- 34:34Speaker 1: he killed that ship. And I think for me, it's
- 34:37Speaker 1: always I think it's gonna cut through no matter what,
- 34:39Speaker 1: because it's like a personal verse, you know what I mean.
- 34:41Speaker 1: It's it's like some real I talk about some real things,
- 34:44Speaker 1: and I think that's always gonna cut through, you know
- 34:47Speaker 1: what I mean. People are always going to feel that
- 34:49Speaker 1: type of thing. So, first time The Weekend and NOAs
- 34:52Speaker 1: have done a record together. Yeah, amazing. What is Able's
- 34:57Speaker 1: influence on the album? Like? How? How? Because I know
- 35:01Speaker 1: you guys are very close obviously he's on the project
- 35:03Speaker 1: a lot. But as far as just like like when
- 35:06Speaker 1: he hear like, does he give you notes? Does he
- 35:07Speaker 1: give you his thoughts? You know what I'm saying? Hell yeah,
- 35:10Speaker 1: Hell yeah. Bro. He's he's super involved, man. Like I
- 35:13Speaker 1: can't say enough about that dude. Bro, Like with everything
- 35:18Speaker 1: that he's done as an artist, bro, Like what he's
- 35:19Speaker 1: done as a person and just for like the people
- 35:21Speaker 1: around them, and you know, just the just the blessings
- 35:24Speaker 1: that he's that he's been able to bestow on different
- 35:27Speaker 1: people and just the world in general and just help
- 35:31Speaker 1: and all that like it's to me, it far exceeds
- 35:35Speaker 1: even when he's done musically top tier. No, he seems
- 35:39Speaker 1: to be like just from like an outside perspective. Obviously
- 35:41Speaker 1: I'm cool with you and Manny and sounding those guys,
- 35:44Speaker 1: but like he seems to be like probably like one
- 35:47Speaker 1: of the exceptions when we think of just like people
- 35:49Speaker 1: who made it that big that are just like loyalist.
- 35:53Speaker 1: Fuck you know what I'm saying. And he's just he's
- 35:56Speaker 1: just himself twenty four hours a day, like you're not
- 35:59Speaker 1: gonna knock him off his axis. Like he's himself. He's
- 36:03Speaker 1: always going to be that no matter what. That's why
- 36:06Speaker 1: you know he doesn't get weird. He'll never be like
- 36:08Speaker 1: that movie type of artist ever. Yeah, you'll see him
- 36:10Speaker 1: at like like you'll see him at random ship and
- 36:12Speaker 1: you'll be like, oh, the weekends, he's for the people, man, Yeah,
- 36:17Speaker 1: I trust me. Yeah, No, it's crazy. You have some
- 36:20Speaker 1: writing credits, like obviously with I want to say, someone
- 36:23Speaker 1: just told me that they looked at the writing credits
- 36:25Speaker 1: on Blinding Lights and you you have you have credits
- 36:27Speaker 1: on that record. Yeah, I do you know, like with
- 36:31Speaker 1: that stuff. I'm sure you've heard me say this before too.
- 36:33Speaker 1: You know, like I never like to go into the
- 36:36Speaker 1: songwriting stuff for like what I you know, what people
- 36:41Speaker 1: see credits on right, because like that can mean a
- 36:44Speaker 1: bunch of different things, by the way. Yeah, like and
- 36:46Speaker 1: not only that, it's like especially with somebody like you know,
- 36:50Speaker 1: The Weekend or like a lot of the people I
- 36:52Speaker 1: work with, which is the type of artist I love
- 36:54Speaker 1: to work with, are people that create their own world.
- 36:58Speaker 1: They create these songs and then you know, Abel's pen
- 37:01Speaker 1: is crazy ridiculous, like the guy could write his ass off,
- 37:05Speaker 1: you know what I mean. So for me, it's just
- 37:08Speaker 1: like it's kind of like a blessing to me to
- 37:11Speaker 1: be like, yo, ship you want to you know, you
- 37:14Speaker 1: want the fact you're contributed. Like yeah, like like I'm I'm,
- 37:18Speaker 1: I'm exactly, I'm. I feel just blessed that, uh that
- 37:21Speaker 1: you know, different artists feel like I could compliment to
- 37:24Speaker 1: something they already got, you know what I mean? Yeah,
- 37:27Speaker 1: because I feel like you know, for me to you know,
- 37:31Speaker 1: give give a record or whatever. You know, it could
- 37:33Speaker 1: be a demo. You can get a demo and might
- 37:36Speaker 1: like it and you might record it. And I've had
- 37:37Speaker 1: songs you know, go like that. But like the artists
- 37:40Speaker 1: that I really love to work with. It's like I'm
- 37:42Speaker 1: really coming in collaborative effort, and it's like it's something
- 37:47Speaker 1: that's already there, you know what I mean. It's it's
- 37:49Speaker 1: it's like something that the artist has had such a
- 37:51Speaker 1: great vision for already, you know. Like I said, like,
- 37:54Speaker 1: those are the type of people that I like to
- 37:56Speaker 1: work with. No, that is crazy because that record is
- 37:59Speaker 1: like obviously when the biggest songs in the last twenty
- 38:01Speaker 1: five years, but it's also a record that was so
- 38:04Speaker 1: brave because it just felt like the eighties. It felt
- 38:09Speaker 1: like it felt like something like we jumped in a
- 38:12Speaker 1: time machine and it was like it's like such a
- 38:14Speaker 1: nostalgic record, but it's also like a current pop hit
- 38:17Speaker 1: like oh yeah, Like and then the whole album had
- 38:20Speaker 1: that heartbeat for sure when you heard like like when
- 38:24Speaker 1: you first heard that record, like prior to whatever you contributed,
- 38:28Speaker 1: like like did you feel like, oh shit, this is
- 38:31Speaker 1: because it's legit. I mean, I think it might be
- 38:34Speaker 1: the biggest song of the last five years at least.
- 38:36Speaker 1: I mean, I know, it just lived in the top
- 38:38Speaker 1: ten on Billboard. I'm just I'm just proud that we
- 38:41Speaker 1: win as a family. Bro. That's that's really that's really
- 38:44Speaker 1: the best part of all of this, you know, in
- 38:46Speaker 1: the super Bowl, Man, That's what I'm saying. Like the
- 38:48Speaker 1: fact that I could look around and you know, see
- 38:52Speaker 1: guys that have known for at least a decade all
- 38:54Speaker 1: around me, and everybody successful at what they do, everybody's happy.
- 38:59Speaker 1: That's that's the great feeling in the world. That's like,
- 39:01Speaker 1: you know what I mean, other than individual wins of course,
- 39:04Speaker 1: which of course, like you know, you got to feel
- 39:06Speaker 1: good about, but regardless, man, just being able to look
- 39:09Speaker 1: around at the FAMI and see everybody in a good position, Bro,
- 39:11Speaker 1: That's that's the dream. Yeah, man, what is There's something
- 39:17Speaker 1: I wanted to talk to you about that has obviously
- 39:19Speaker 1: had escalated since I saw you last. I saw you
- 39:21Speaker 1: about a month and a half ago. You know, I
- 39:25Speaker 1: know you're very passionate about what's going on with your
- 39:27Speaker 1: people overseas in Palestine, and I've tried to do my
- 39:32Speaker 1: best to educate myself on a very complicated situation. But
- 39:38Speaker 1: I think that you know, me and you had kind
- 39:41Speaker 1: of spoke about like how it's like it could be
- 39:44Speaker 1: I'm sure it could be frustrating because It's like, I
- 39:47Speaker 1: feel like there's only so much you could say before
- 39:50Speaker 1: people try to like label you some shit that you're not. Like,
- 39:53Speaker 1: you could be very critical of government, of countries, of
- 39:59Speaker 1: you know, without being somebody who's criticizing a whole people. Absolutely,
- 40:05Speaker 1: I've never in my life criticized the whole people. Hey,
- 40:09Speaker 1: interrupting the interview to tell you about our good friends

- 41:06Speaker 1: I was bringing up you know, what's going on in
- 41:08Speaker 1: Palestine in Gaza. It's a complicated situation, but it's also
- 41:17Speaker 1: really like on a human level aspect, it doesn't seem
- 41:21Speaker 1: very complicated. Yeah, I don't. I don't think it's it's
- 41:24Speaker 1: very complicated. You know for Palestinians, it's been a struggle
- 41:33Speaker 1: for a long time, and it's like this this like
- 41:38Speaker 1: cycle keeps repeating over and over, you know what I mean.
- 41:40Speaker 1: It's like it's hard to see real change happen when
- 41:46Speaker 1: people aren't being told, you know, the whole story about
- 41:50Speaker 1: what's really happening over there, you know what I mean.
- 41:53Speaker 1: And again, you know, like I really feel like it
- 41:58Speaker 1: comes down to it comes down the people having to
- 42:00Speaker 1: hold their governments accountable, and that's I think that's the
- 42:04Speaker 1: only way we could change, you know, the status quo.
- 42:09Speaker 1: The way they even perceive us and look at us
- 42:11Speaker 1: and stuff like that is like, you know, it's it's
- 42:16Speaker 1: dehumanizing at the end of the day. It's like, uh,
- 42:21Speaker 1: you know, Palestinian people some of the most resilient people
- 42:24Speaker 1: in the world, of course, gone through some of the
- 42:26Speaker 1: worst atrocities, and all anyone's asking for that, anyone that's
- 42:33Speaker 1: speaking out, all anyone's asking for is some compassion, some compassion,
- 42:37Speaker 1: some human rights, and you know, not not to see
- 42:40Speaker 1: the situation through bias eyes, to actually just look and
- 42:46Speaker 1: do the proper research and then you can come up
- 42:48Speaker 1: with your own answer. You know. Yeah, I mean from
- 42:50Speaker 1: what I've gathered is like obviously what transpired during Ramadan?
- 42:58Speaker 1: How that like like you know, I spoke to my
- 43:01Speaker 1: friend Adam Rice, who's Jewish and his parents go to
- 43:04Speaker 1: Israel every single year, and he was like, we're wrong
- 43:07Speaker 1: in this thing, man, Like what did like like, why
- 43:11Speaker 1: would you do that to those people during their holiest
- 43:15Speaker 1: time and expect like things like you know what I mean,
- 43:18Speaker 1: Like like nobody like wouldever think to do that and
- 43:20Speaker 1: expect anything good to happen of it, you know what
- 43:22Speaker 1: I mean? And even Peter Rosenberg, who you know, again
- 43:26Speaker 1: is obviously a Jewish man, you know what I mean.
- 43:28Speaker 1: Me and Peter talked about it pretty extensively, and he
- 43:31Speaker 1: kind of mirrored the same thoughts, you know, And I
- 43:33Speaker 1: think it kind of comes down to, like you said,
- 43:35Speaker 1: holding your government accountable in the same way that if
- 43:38Speaker 1: Donald Trump's a piece of shit and somebody from fucking
- 43:42Speaker 1: Europe is like, man, Donald Trump's a piece of shit.
- 43:46Speaker 1: That doesn't mean the Americans are pieces of shit. It
- 43:49Speaker 1: means that, yo, you know. And I've heard that the
- 43:51Speaker 1: guy who and again I'm not like the craziest like
- 43:54Speaker 1: as far as like who's like being educated on the
- 43:59Speaker 1: ins and outs of of the government in Israel, But
- 44:01Speaker 1: I've heard from people who I trust that like, yo,
- 44:03Speaker 1: essentially the guy who's running shit in Israel is like
- 44:07Speaker 1: their version of Trump, like hardcore right wing, like crazy,
- 44:11Speaker 1: like crazy Neo Khan type ass motherfucker. So it's just rough, man,
- 44:17Speaker 1: because like you see some of these images of these
- 44:18Speaker 1: people and it's like, dude, like this, I mean, his
- 44:21Speaker 1: his his own government is holding him accountable and he
- 44:24Speaker 1: just got ousted from his position a few days ago.
- 44:27Speaker 1: See I didn't know that. Yeah, you know, he's on
- 44:29Speaker 1: corruption charges, being accused of bribery. It's all kinds. This
- 44:34Speaker 1: is not a it's not a favorable human you know
- 44:39Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So it's it's easy to see how
- 44:43Speaker 1: somebody like that could really, you know, put poison the well. Yeah,
- 44:47Speaker 1: And I think to what people have to understand too,
- 44:49Speaker 1: And this I've always said this about America, like just
- 44:51Speaker 1: in general, Like, yo, like, if you're what do you
- 44:55Speaker 1: expect to happen if you're like imagine if you're a
- 44:58Speaker 1: kid in Gaza, right and somebody bombed the building you
- 45:02Speaker 1: live in, and let's say you lost your mom, Like,
- 45:05Speaker 1: what do you expect that kid to grow up feeling about?
- 45:08Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. It's almost like it's a
- 45:10Speaker 1: cycle that will never end until it ends. Yeah, I
- 45:14Speaker 1: mean you know, to me, I feel like it's just
- 45:20Speaker 1: gonna have to come down to people just just looking
- 45:23Speaker 1: at it as a human issue. Politics on the side.
- 45:27Speaker 1: You know, there's there's civilians, kids dying, you know, and
- 45:34Speaker 1: the thing that the thing about the whole you know,
- 45:38Speaker 1: we're gonna hunt a specific militia or whatever, right, and
- 45:43Speaker 1: it's like I'm all for it. You want to go,
- 45:50Speaker 1: uh find some some criminals or whatever the case is.
- 45:54Speaker 1: And not in that particular situation. I'm talking just in
- 45:57Speaker 1: general vaguely. Yeah, you know, but you shouldn't be killing
- 46:03Speaker 1: civilians to go get to the people that you're mad
- 46:06Speaker 1: at for killing civilians, Like it doesn't make any sense.
- 46:09Speaker 1: There's got to be a better way to approach all
- 46:12Speaker 1: of this, which is also what happened with the United States,
- 46:14Speaker 1: like Obama and the drones. And I mean, this shit
- 46:16Speaker 1: is like happened so much where it's like, Yo, at
- 46:18Speaker 1: what point in time is getting the bad guy where
- 46:20Speaker 1: it's killing a bunch of innocent kids, you know what
- 46:23Speaker 1: I mean? Like this is crazy because again it's like
- 46:26Speaker 1: who suffers? Bro? Yeah, and then and then and then
- 46:29Speaker 1: it's almost like the psycho gets hit on repeat because
- 46:33Speaker 1: imagine I can only imagine if I grew up somewhere
- 46:36Speaker 1: and someone my my parents or my sister died or
- 46:39Speaker 1: my best friend died, like how I would feel about
- 46:41Speaker 1: whoever the fuck did that for the rest of my
- 46:43Speaker 1: life and it's like it's just never you know, It's
- 46:46Speaker 1: just it's almost like the gang shit, you know what
- 46:48Speaker 1: I mean, Like we always talk I'll talk to the homies,
- 46:50Speaker 1: who are you know, gang bangers out here? And like
- 46:52Speaker 1: I'll be like, yo, like what is the Like, how's
- 46:54Speaker 1: the violence? He's like, how are you going to tell
- 46:55Speaker 1: somebody to not turn up on that crew when they
- 46:58Speaker 1: they they took their brother a cousin? Well, you know
- 47:01Speaker 1: what I mean. It's it's it's like what it's like
- 47:03Speaker 1: you said, it's got to be a human rights thing, man,
- 47:05Speaker 1: And I think unfortunately I wish like our government would
- 47:10Speaker 1: have stepped in and done more. But like you said earlier,
- 47:12Speaker 1: it's like that politics shit comes into play again once
- 47:15Speaker 1: you throw all that politics bullshit you know, out the window.
- 47:18Speaker 1: And that's why I wish we had Bernie man and
- 47:20Speaker 1: you just stop and you have some you fucked with Bernie, right, Yeah,
- 47:24Speaker 1: I thought. I think Bernie is like the illest motherfucker,
- 47:26Speaker 1: like he should have been on President bro. Bernie's great man.
- 47:29Speaker 1: He's Jewish right like, and he don't give a fuck
- 47:32Speaker 1: Like he's like, Yo, it's about human rights, but this
- 47:35Speaker 1: thing ain't about this. The thing is it's not about
- 47:38Speaker 1: being Jewish, right, No, but you know what, you're right
- 47:41Speaker 1: and we know that and we can have that conversation.
- 47:43Speaker 1: But the Internet and Twitter and it's like you're either
- 47:46Speaker 1: there or you're here. There's no in the middle. Bro.
- 47:48Speaker 1: I got people from all walks of life, So do
- 47:50Speaker 1: I Jewish, Muslim, Christian, Catholic, Buddhist, whatever you want to name, Atheist,
- 47:56Speaker 1: whatever you want to name. One hundred percent that I
- 47:59Speaker 1: consider some people I consider family, friends, colleagues, co workers, whatever.
- 48:06Speaker 1: That to me never means nothing. It'll never stop my
- 48:10Speaker 1: love for you, It'll never stop my support for you.
- 48:11Speaker 1: It'll never stop nothing. Everybody just has a stop and
- 48:16Speaker 1: look at it from a human issue. Take the tribal
- 48:21Speaker 1: the tribal shit away, Take the politics government, take all
- 48:25Speaker 1: the all the bias, all all the things you want
- 48:27Speaker 1: to feel, take those away and just be like, yo,
- 48:30Speaker 1: let's just look at what's going on here. You know
- 48:32Speaker 1: what I mean. No matter where you are and what
- 48:34Speaker 1: country you're from, if you love your country, you're gonna
- 48:37Speaker 1: hold your government accountable until they're doing the right thing.
- 48:40Speaker 1: I saw you posted the kid from Palestine, the rapper,
- 48:44Speaker 1: the young kid. Yeah he actually uh, I think Gazi
- 48:47Speaker 1: just signed him the empire. Yeah, so shout out to Ghazi,
- 48:49Speaker 1: but yeah, shout out to Gazi. You were able to
- 48:52Speaker 1: tap in with with him like directly, because he's going
- 48:55Speaker 1: to like he talks to everybody kind of around me,
- 48:58Speaker 1: all my guys. Yeah, I mean, so it's just a
- 49:01Speaker 1: matter of time before we connect. You know, what's his
- 49:03Speaker 1: name because I don't I don't know if the time
- 49:04Speaker 1: I had, but I saw the video. I think you're
- 49:08Speaker 1: reposted the video. Yeah, I think his name is I'm
- 49:10Speaker 1: not sure because his Instagram name is different, but I
- 49:12Speaker 1: think it's Abdual. I think his name is Abdual. Yeah.
- 49:15Speaker 1: I saw that. I was like, Yo, this kid man,
- 49:17Speaker 1: he's incredible. He's incredible. I love that kid man. I
- 49:20Speaker 1: think his bravery, his courageousness, you know, to be able
- 49:23Speaker 1: to do what he's doing is incredible. Man, it's incredible.
- 49:29Speaker 1: And then he can rap Hello. He's young, so you
- 49:32Speaker 1: already knows it's gonna grow into something. He can rap beautiful,
- 49:35Speaker 1: you know, talk about so you for people. You know,
- 49:40Speaker 1: you've been an independent artist for a very long time
- 49:43Speaker 1: before you were fucking with XO. You've you were you know,
- 49:47Speaker 1: I remember seeing your name for a long time. I
- 49:50Speaker 1: remember I think you had a record with the game,
- 49:52Speaker 1: and you've been doing your thing for a minute. Obviously,
- 49:56Speaker 1: coming into the XO fold, I didn't have a record
- 49:58Speaker 1: with the game. Was a snoop. I had two records.
- 50:01Speaker 1: It was snoop. It wasn't the game. It was snoop. Yeah,
- 50:03Speaker 1: me and game never worked together. No, it was snoop. Yeah, okay,
- 50:05Speaker 1: yeah it was snoop. I was was it a snoop
- 50:07Speaker 1: of the game? I was gonna say snoopid first? But uh,
- 50:13Speaker 1: you come out with XO, you have a smash record,
- 50:16Speaker 1: like might not with with with with the weekend? Having
- 50:20Speaker 1: a record like that, is it like a gift in
- 50:22Speaker 1: a curse? I mean, obviously it's a gift more than anything.
- 50:25Speaker 1: But like that's such a big song, like it's it's
- 50:30Speaker 1: I mean, did you find yourself ever chasing that record
- 50:34Speaker 1: like at any point in time? No way that happens
- 50:38Speaker 1: sometimes when you come because honestly for me and my
- 50:41Speaker 1: background of what I come from, right like like I
- 50:44Speaker 1: let songs go all the time, you know, so I
- 50:46Speaker 1: have no personal attachment to records. And what that did
- 50:50Speaker 1: for me, like the mentality that it built inside of me,
- 50:54Speaker 1: was I could do this again? Like I don't. I'm
- 50:57Speaker 1: not gonna be married to the song. If if this
- 51:00Speaker 1: person as a vessel could push this song further than
- 51:02Speaker 1: I can, who the might a stand in my own way,
- 51:05Speaker 1: you know what I mean. That came from guess what,
- 51:08Speaker 1: wake up tomorrow and I make another one. It doesn't
- 51:10Speaker 1: have to be that right or something that dope, you
- 51:12Speaker 1: know what I mean. I think sometimes that happens tho,
- 51:14Speaker 1: where I see artists like that, they come out swinging
- 51:17Speaker 1: with such a big song and they almost get like
- 51:19Speaker 1: lost in the sauce of that record. Nah. For me,
- 51:22Speaker 1: it's like, I'm happy we got might not and I'm
- 51:25Speaker 1: happy it did what it did. And the sound is
- 51:29Speaker 1: video was crazy, video was crazy, all that. But that's
- 51:32Speaker 1: that's that's its moment. You know. I'll never try to
- 51:34Speaker 1: recreate that moment again. You'll never get that moment again.
- 51:37Speaker 1: Talk about your relationship with Nipsey Man. I'm Nipsey's somebody
- 51:40Speaker 1: who you know, I was close with since about nine.
- 51:43Speaker 1: One of the greats you're on arguably one of the
- 51:47Speaker 1: best songs on Victory Lap. You know here, I know,
- 51:52Speaker 1: I'd always see all the XL guys around nip Like
- 51:54Speaker 1: anytime he would do an activation, I'd see Nab over there.
- 51:57Speaker 1: We'll talk about y'all's relationship. Man. When I first came
- 52:01Speaker 1: to La Man, nip was somebody that was just like
- 52:05Speaker 1: just like like instantly you know a friend. It was crazy,
- 52:09Speaker 1: like just like two three weeks and then knowing NIP,
- 52:13Speaker 1: I felt like I knew him for like ten years, right.
- 52:15Speaker 1: He was that kind of guy for sure. Yeah, And
- 52:17Speaker 1: like he would pull up to the house, you know,
- 52:20Speaker 1: he would come through with Slow shout out the Slow
- 52:22Speaker 1: Slow was living with me at the time, and Studio
- 52:29Speaker 1: City and Nipple pull up man, and just like it
- 52:33Speaker 1: wasn't even about like working. It was he would't even
- 52:35Speaker 1: want to, you know, not like he wouldn't want to,
- 52:37Speaker 1: but he wouldn't even play his records. He'd just be like,
- 52:39Speaker 1: let me hear what you're working on. I thought that
- 52:41Speaker 1: was so dope because you know every rappers get everybody
- 52:44Speaker 1: wants to play you there ship and they're like, there's
- 52:45Speaker 1: the ox, you know, that's the Ox. He was always
- 52:47Speaker 1: just like, now, let me, I want to hear what
- 52:48Speaker 1: you're working on. Like he was just genuinely like you know,
- 52:53Speaker 1: always always interested and whatever was going on, it was.
- 52:56Speaker 1: It was vice versa, you know, like I was always
- 52:59Speaker 1: a fan in it. It wasn't just from when we met.
- 53:03Speaker 1: Before we met, I was a fan of him so
- 53:08Speaker 1: I made sure I let that be known, you know,
- 53:11Speaker 1: throughout the whole course of us working together and and
- 53:14Speaker 1: and being friends and all that, I let people know
- 53:16Speaker 1: the the level this guy was on was different, you
- 53:20Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Like it was it was something
- 53:22Speaker 1: special to see somebody like that come around and double up,
- 53:26Speaker 1: Like was that something that was pretty much like done?
- 53:29Speaker 1: And then you you you added your part of like
- 53:31Speaker 1: how did that? How did how did you end up
- 53:33Speaker 1: on that song? Because it's, like I said, one of
- 53:35Speaker 1: the best songs on the project for sure. Man. They
- 53:40Speaker 1: brought me the song and we're like, basically, you know,
- 53:44Speaker 1: Nip been wanting to work with you on something whatever,
- 53:48Speaker 1: Like he doesn't know that we're giving you this, so
- 53:50Speaker 1: just you know, do your thing and then we're just
- 53:52Speaker 1: gonna basically like you know, play it for him and
- 53:55Speaker 1: be like yo, you know what I mean? And yeah,
- 53:59Speaker 1: it was nuts, bro, Like I remember I did this.
- 54:02Speaker 1: There's way more of that song that never made it
- 54:05Speaker 1: to the song. You know, did you have a verse
- 54:07Speaker 1: on it? Ever? I had a verse on the song.
- 54:09Speaker 1: It was funny because that was when I first got
- 54:11Speaker 1: that fucking victory lap on Spotify. That was the first
- 54:14Speaker 1: song I went to and I was so disappointed that
- 54:16Speaker 1: you didn't rap on I mean, you did your think
- 54:18Speaker 1: on it, but I was like, I was like, oh,
- 54:20Speaker 1: Belly and Nip. That part that Nip ended up using
- 54:25Speaker 1: throughout the song that was that was like my outro
- 54:28Speaker 1: after the verse. So that was like, you know, that's
- 54:30Speaker 1: how I kind of ended my verse. And but it
- 54:34Speaker 1: was it was. It was long as ship, man, So
- 54:36Speaker 1: it's a it's a long song currently, That's what I'm saying.
- 54:38Speaker 1: The song is to be like seven minutes and forty
- 54:40Speaker 1: five seconds. I never I was never like, damn, why
- 54:43Speaker 1: why didn't you keep you know, I was just happy
- 54:45Speaker 1: to be part of it. That project was a classic
- 54:47Speaker 1: to me. The first time I heard it, I was like,
- 54:49Speaker 1: this ship, this ship is a masterpiece. You know, in
- 54:53Speaker 1: our world, that's a masterpiece right there. Man. Yeah, I
- 54:57Speaker 1: think we get one of those albums like every few
- 54:59Speaker 1: years where we're like, yo, just to live forever, you
- 55:02Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. And I think I think your
- 55:04Speaker 1: album might be one of those, man. You know what
- 55:06Speaker 1: I'm saying. Man, thank you. I hope so Bro, Like
- 55:10Speaker 1: you know, I make this ship between four walls. I
- 55:12Speaker 1: think I told you this when you came you know,
- 55:14Speaker 1: because you were one of the first people that came
- 55:16Speaker 1: through and listened to the full length mastered versions of
- 55:18Speaker 1: the songs. You know, I think I told you that,
- 55:21Speaker 1: like you had your producers locked in, your guys are there.
- 55:24Speaker 1: It's hard because you make shit between four walls and
- 55:27Speaker 1: it's like you're the only opinion that's on it, you
- 55:30Speaker 1: know what I mean. So sometimes things feel personal to
- 55:33Speaker 1: you for certain reasons, but you know you're being biased
- 55:37Speaker 1: because again it's your song. It's like, no, but I
- 55:39Speaker 1: said this and that ship resident it doesn't matter. None
- 55:41Speaker 1: of that matters. Now when you leave the four walls
- 55:44Speaker 1: and you know, people like yourself come through and listen,
- 55:48Speaker 1: that shit is really nerve racking to me because I'm like,
- 55:51Speaker 1: nobody's heard this ship yet, Like I don't know until now,
- 55:54Speaker 1: I still get like butterflies about it, and I don't know,
- 55:57Speaker 1: like you know, I still get like kind of nervous
- 55:59Speaker 1: about it. Before I play the music for the first
- 56:02Speaker 1: time for people, you know what I mean, and we
- 56:04Speaker 1: have no idea when it's coming out yet. Probably before
- 56:07Speaker 1: the end of the summer, was assuming I mean you yeah,
- 56:10Speaker 1: I think probably towards July. When's the beginning of the summer.
- 56:15Speaker 1: We're in the summer right now. I was just in
- 56:16Speaker 1: Arizona was one hundred and eighteen degrees. So you're going
- 56:20Speaker 1: to Palm Springs this weekend. It's gonna be fucking It's
- 56:21Speaker 1: gonna be twenty degrees tomorrow Jesus one, twenty one, twenty. Yeah,
- 56:29Speaker 1: you're going out there just to create, right, Yeah, go
- 56:32Speaker 1: out there, maybe hero does. Maybe just let go. Man,
- 56:41Speaker 1: it's a lot. It's a lot, man, Man, there it
- 56:44Speaker 1: is anything. I mean, I know we talked to You'll
- 56:47Speaker 1: be doing some weed shit soon. The book hopeful. So
- 56:52Speaker 1: this book that you're gonna write, this is like like
- 56:54Speaker 1: you're going through with this for sure. This is like
- 56:56Speaker 1: something where yeah, yeah, I'm like the book. It's not
- 57:02Speaker 1: one book too. I got a few ideas. This is
- 57:06Speaker 1: just the one that I'm like most confident with because
- 57:08Speaker 1: this is like something that I just this is the
- 57:10Speaker 1: era that I'm just coming through now, so everything's still
- 57:13Speaker 1: fresh in my mind. I can talk about it and
- 57:15Speaker 1: talk about all the benefits that I had from it.
- 57:17Speaker 1: So you know what's crazy, because you're such a movie buff,
- 57:20Speaker 1: would you ever consider like like and you're such a
- 57:22Speaker 1: great writer. Would you ever consider like writing fucking screenplays? Yeah,
- 57:26Speaker 1: I would love to, Man, I just feel like it's
- 57:30Speaker 1: like not my area of expertise. So you know, I
- 57:32Speaker 1: would want somebody to just kind of show me the ropes,
- 57:35Speaker 1: you know. And I always feel like that, like it's
- 57:39Speaker 1: just good for somebody that is in that world that
- 57:41Speaker 1: knows the little ins and outs and just the little
- 57:44Speaker 1: things that people look for. Like you said, you're gonna
- 57:46Speaker 1: do this book with like an author right where you
- 57:47Speaker 1: just kind of some kind of shit, right, Yeah, I'm
- 57:51Speaker 1: you know, like I could write, man, but I'm not
- 57:54Speaker 1: gonna sit there and write a book. It's just not
- 57:56Speaker 1: gonna happen. No yet. No race is too fast. Yeah,
- 57:59Speaker 1: you know, so it's a good way to do it.
- 58:02Speaker 1: I just get the writer there and then I go
- 58:05Speaker 1: on my little rants and before you know it, man,
- 58:07Speaker 1: we got books. You know what I mean? Because this
- 58:10Speaker 1: is real shit that I went through. So when I
- 58:12Speaker 1: talk about it, I can talk about it clearly every time.
- 58:14Speaker 1: This is all ship that's still freshened my mind, that
- 58:17Speaker 1: affected me, you know in big ways. So have you decided? Uh,
- 58:23Speaker 1: you know, I think when I engage my wife, we
- 58:26Speaker 1: got married like inside of two years. I was like, Yo,
- 58:29Speaker 1: I don't want to be one of these fucking guys
- 58:30Speaker 1: who's engaged for fucking five years and everyone's asking what
- 58:34Speaker 1: the fucking wedding is. I was like, We've tried to
- 58:36Speaker 1: figure this shit out as fast as possible. Have you
- 58:38Speaker 1: have you thought about like where you guys want to
- 58:40Speaker 1: get married? Yet we want to get married at the house, man,
- 58:43Speaker 1: you know, at our house, and I think you have
- 58:45Speaker 1: told me that, Yeah, that's when we want to get married,
- 58:47Speaker 1: Like we all this, you know, big extravagant, crazy shit
- 58:52Speaker 1: like I just want to make sure all our loved
- 58:54Speaker 1: ones are there. And it also kind of weeds out
- 58:58Speaker 1: like having an invite too many people, cause you could
- 59:00Speaker 1: be like, yo, you know, we're doing it at the house.
- 59:02Speaker 1: It's small, it's private, it's cozy. Yeah, because if you
- 59:06Speaker 1: if you, if you get like the big venue and
- 59:08Speaker 1: you don't invite like every rapper friends you have, you
- 59:11Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, especially like just all the random
- 59:14Speaker 1: industry people, you know, it's like, no, no, we did
- 59:16Speaker 1: it at the house. It was private. If you have
- 59:18Speaker 1: this record coming out the next day, oh man, anyway,
- 59:21Speaker 1: we'll listen. Bro. The album is hopefully coming to see
- 59:23Speaker 1: you next Wednesday is coming soon. A new record with
- 59:26Speaker 1: the money Bag Yell is out go play that Ship weekend,
- 59:33Speaker 1: and Nas is on the album videos already shot ye
- 59:39Speaker 1: video shot Man was it was it? Whose idea was
- 59:41Speaker 1: it to put Nas on it? Honestly, I can't remember
- 59:46Speaker 1: exactly whose idea it was, but you know, shout out
- 59:50Speaker 1: to Anthony and Nas. You know, it's it's like a
- 59:55Speaker 1: it's an extended family thing. Yeah. And then obviously the
- 59:58Speaker 1: next bucket, this feature you're gonna you're gonna get. I'm
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: putting it in the airs, gonna be the whole record.
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: Whenever you get the whole record, it'll be big. I
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: can't wait for that. It's gotta happen. Ye, Like, I
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: don't know, I don't think I'll ever retire if I
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: don't get that one. It's funny. Yeah, Benny said the
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: same ship. He's like, he's like yeah, He's like and
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: he's signed, you know, I mean obviously your rock Nation
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: as well. But it's like he's almost like Betty's such
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: a big J fan. He's like, I don't feel like
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: I ever feel accomplished until I get that song. Yeah,
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: I feel the same way. Like you notice, man, Like
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: when I write my raps, I always pretend like he's
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: is getting ready to grade me. You know what I mean?
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: What's your favorite J album? That's tough, man, That's tough
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: obviously a reasonable doubt for me, it's reasonable doubt. That's
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: just because that was my introduction. Yeah, I mean so,
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: I think that his most slept on album though, And
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: I think people don't give this album enough love because
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: there's some bullshit on it. It's Blueprint too. I love
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: Blueprint too. That song Meet the Parents, He's like one
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: of the best storytelling songs of all time. Like, whenever
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: I like tell people like I'm like, yo, go to
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: fucking Blueprint too, press play on Meet the Parents and
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: like listen to it five times in a row. It's
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: like a Quentin Tarantino movie on wax. Yeah he's different, man,
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: I hope has been different. He's been different, bro. Yeah,
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: I hope's that dude. Man. Yeah, he's literally the blueprint.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: That's why it made so much sense to cause out
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: in that because he's literally the blueprint for the epitome
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: of what a rap life should look like. Somebody that
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: came up in the streets and turned to rap, turn
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: into a mold. The way, the business, the everything man,
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: every aspect of his life. You know what I mean.
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: He's literally the epitome of what all of us should
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: be aspiring to be. We'll look see you next Wednesday,
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: coming soon, Belly, Go fuck with him, and we're gonna
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: get some weed from you soon too,
