- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're picking up where we
- 0:06Speaker 1: left off with the New York Times article that was
- 0:09Speaker 1: authored by Matthew Goldstein and Sharon Otterman dealing with Crinnia Shuliac.
- 0:16Speaker 1: You are the purest man. Ever. Since she was a child,
- 0:19Speaker 1: doctor Shuliac wanted to be a dentist. She was inspired
- 0:23Speaker 1: by her own family's dental problems and what she saws
- 0:26Speaker 1: poor dental health and Belarus, she wrote in an admissions
- 0:29Speaker 1: essay to dental school reviewed by The Times. She completed
- 0:33Speaker 1: four or five years of dental school in Minsk, but
- 0:36Speaker 1: stopped her studies to go to New York. By the
- 0:39Speaker 1: winter of twenty twelve, she accepted mister Epstein's help to
- 0:43Speaker 1: get into dental school. After Columbia's College of Dental Medicine
- 0:47Speaker 1: initially rejected her. Mister Epstein asked his own dentist, doctor
- 0:51Speaker 1: Thomas Jay Magnonnie, a powerful alumnus, to put him in
- 0:56Speaker 1: contact with the dental school's dean. Mister Epstein dangled the
- 1:00Speaker 1: idea of making up to a ten million dollar donation.
- 1:04Speaker 1: In the end, he would only give around two hundred
- 1:07Speaker 1: and ten thousand to Columbia, according to an accounting by
- 1:10Speaker 1: the university. But it was enough to grease the wheels.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Must be nice. Huh, little lord Fuckleroy Epstein shows up
- 1:17Speaker 1: with a bag of money and gets whoever he wants
- 1:20Speaker 1: into school. The Justice Department files include a text message
- 1:25Speaker 1: Shane showing how doctor Magnanni and doctor James Fine, a
- 1:29Speaker 1: dental school administrator, gave Shuliac a heads up on topics
- 1:33Speaker 1: she would encounter during an admissions exam in April of
- 1:36Speaker 1: twenty twelve to test her practical skills as a transfer student.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Neither doctor Magnanny or doctor Fine responded to a request
- 1:44Speaker 1: for comment. Oh why would they? They don't have to
- 1:48Speaker 1: explain themselves to mirror peasants like us. There are fine
- 1:51Speaker 1: members of the community pillars. In fact, after she passed
- 1:57Speaker 1: and Columbia admittedor mister Epstein arranged for doctor Shuliac's mother
- 2:01Speaker 1: to visit from Belarus. He would pay her tuition for
- 2:05Speaker 1: three years of school. You are the purest man of
- 2:08Speaker 1: all men, doctor Shuliac wrote to him in June of
- 2:11Speaker 1: twenty twelve. Can you fucking imagine imagine the gas lighting
- 2:15Speaker 1: that must have occurred, or maybe not. Maybe Crinnia Shuliac
- 2:21Speaker 1: was willing to look past what Epstein really was because
- 2:24Speaker 1: of the benefits that brought her. And unfortunately there's a
- 2:26Speaker 1: lot of people like that. How many people in this story,
- 2:29Speaker 1: especially all your love and care my parents' school apartment,
- 2:35Speaker 1: thank you so much for everything. They fought at times
- 2:39Speaker 1: over his insistence on having sex with other women in
- 2:42Speaker 1: their twenties, including with the small group of assistants who
- 2:46Speaker 1: did chores for him and whom he referred to as
- 2:48Speaker 1: his family. According to emails, some fucking Charles Manson type shit.
- 2:54Speaker 1: That's another thing I've said. This dude had a cult
- 2:57Speaker 1: around him. That was his goal, get all those girls,
- 3:01Speaker 1: believe in all kinds of funky shit, and thinking that
- 3:04Speaker 1: everything he was up to and the stuff his friends
- 3:06Speaker 1: were up to was fucking normal. Meanwhile, it was anything,
- 3:10Speaker 1: but she was about as normal as Norman Bates. I
- 3:18Speaker 1: understand you need it. However, these are the things that
- 3:20Speaker 1: don't feel natural to me. It feel somewhat dirty to me,
- 3:23Speaker 1: she wrote to him in August of twenty twelve. Nowhere
- 3:27Speaker 1: in the Justice Department files that were reviewed by The
- 3:30Speaker 1: Times does doctor Shuliac express a broader ethical concern about
- 3:35Speaker 1: how he was treating those other women, many of whom
- 3:37Speaker 1: would later claim to be victims of his abuse. Instead,
- 3:41Speaker 1: she asked mister Epstein to keep his relations with those
- 3:44Speaker 1: women out of sight. See no evil, hear no evil,
- 3:49Speaker 1: Speak no evil. And unfortunately that was them surrounding Epstein,
- 3:54Speaker 1: not just with Shuliac, but with most people. If that
- 3:58Speaker 1: is not allowed, to ask, please enjoy it, but keep
- 4:01Speaker 1: me away from it. She wrote, I will stay with
- 4:03Speaker 1: you no matter what, as long as you are happy.
- 4:05Speaker 1: I love you. Getting a green card. By the time
- 4:10Speaker 1: she applied to Columbia in twenty twelve, doctor Shuliac had
- 4:14Speaker 1: overstayed the student visa she had obtained in twenty ten.
- 4:19Speaker 1: In early twenty thirteen, mister Epstein found a solution to
- 4:22Speaker 1: keep her in the country. The file show. Two years earlier,
- 4:26Speaker 1: New York became one of the first states to legalize
- 4:28Speaker 1: same sex marriage. Mister Epstein concluded that a marriage in
- 4:33Speaker 1: New York between two women might be the easiest way
- 4:36Speaker 1: to gain US citizenship without raising red flags that the
- 4:39Speaker 1: marriage was arranged solely to avoid deportation. The marriage Hustle
- 4:46Speaker 1: and Jeffrey Epstein was pretty good at it, and it
- 4:48Speaker 1: wasn't just the fake marriages. There was a lot of
- 4:51Speaker 1: immigration fraud. And my question has always been who helped
- 4:55Speaker 1: him out doing that? Like I said in the earlier episode,
- 4:59Speaker 1: he didn't do it on his own. There was somebody
- 5:01Speaker 1: in the immigration office. He had a contact, somebody who
- 5:04Speaker 1: was it. Mister Epstein chose from the ranks of his
- 5:08Speaker 1: assistants a thirty year old woman from Minnesota to be
- 5:11Speaker 1: her spouse. Brad Edwards, the lawyer for the woman, said
- 5:15Speaker 1: that his client was a victim of mister Epstein and
- 5:18Speaker 1: that he cannot speak about her situation, but he said
- 5:21Speaker 1: that as a general rule, nobody was permitted or dared
- 5:24Speaker 1: to ever disobey Jeffrey Epstein. And you know, Brad Edwards
- 5:29Speaker 1: has really turned heel here, huh. All of a sudden,
- 5:32Speaker 1: he's defending all these women that for years he called
- 5:35Speaker 1: co conspirators. Pretty odd to me. And look, I get it,
- 5:39Speaker 1: the facts change on the ground, but here's the fact
- 5:41Speaker 1: that's never going to change. A lot of those people
- 5:44Speaker 1: that he's now representing were allegedly involved in abusing people
- 5:49Speaker 1: like Virginia. So I don't know how he squares that circle.
- 5:53Speaker 1: The emails showed that mister Epstein instructed the woman to
- 5:56Speaker 1: meet doctor Shuliac on the morning of September sixteenth, two
- 5:59Speaker 1: and three at the New York City Marriage Bureau. She
- 6:03Speaker 1: was told to have her bags packed so she could
- 6:05Speaker 1: immediately fly to the Virgin Islands after getting the marriage license,
- 6:09Speaker 1: while doctor Shuliac would stay behind to attend her dental
- 6:12Speaker 1: school classes. The women were married three weeks later at
- 6:16Speaker 1: the office of the City Clerk. Photos were taken of
- 6:19Speaker 1: the ceremony. Yeah, they had to make it look legit,
- 6:22Speaker 1: right if anyone came asking questions, we have to have
- 6:25Speaker 1: some contemporaneous evidence that this is legit or at least
- 6:28Speaker 1: close to being legit. After the wedding of Brooklyn, immigration
- 6:32Speaker 1: lawyer working for mister Epstein submitted an immigration form stating
- 6:37Speaker 1: that the woman wanted to list doctor Shuliac as her
- 6:39Speaker 1: wife and beneficiary. The request was approved, and immigration officials
- 6:45Speaker 1: dismissed doctor Shuliac's pending deportation proceedings. Months after the marriage,
- 6:51Speaker 1: doctor Shuliac got a green card, making her a lawful resident.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Talk about game in the system. My question is how
- 7:00Speaker 1: many other girls did this happen to that we don't
- 7:03Speaker 1: know about girls that weren't as lucky as Crinnyas Shuliac. Outwardly,
- 7:09Speaker 1: the marriage had signs of legitimacy. The two women shared
- 7:13Speaker 1: an apartment in the Upper East Side building that was
- 7:15Speaker 1: partly owned by mister Epstein's brother and where mister Epstein
- 7:19Speaker 1: housed many of his assistants. They had a joint bank
- 7:22Speaker 1: account at Deutsche Bank and won on trips together to London, Europe,
- 7:26Speaker 1: and Japan, yeah accompanying Epstein doing work for Epstein. In
- 7:33Speaker 1: May of twenty eighteen, she officially became a US citizen.
- 7:37Speaker 1: A year later, doctor Shuliac and her spouse divorced. According
- 7:42Speaker 1: to her report, releases here by Democrats on the House
- 7:44Speaker 1: Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Doctor Shuliac's former wife
- 7:49Speaker 1: claimed she had been forced into the marriage. The woman,
- 7:52Speaker 1: in a statement to the Epstein estate, said she had
- 7:55Speaker 1: not known that the wedding had been scheduled just days
- 7:57Speaker 1: before doctor Shuliac's deportation. Hearing Lau report concluded that the
- 8:02Speaker 1: marriage may have been done to provide doctor Shuliac with
- 8:05Speaker 1: the legal basis to continue residing in the United States.
- 8:09Speaker 1: It didn't recommend any legal challenge to her citizenship. Of course,
- 8:13Speaker 1: not Epstein reached out, talked to his buddies and made
- 8:16Speaker 1: sure everything was cool. I met Epstein's girlfriend in early
- 8:21Speaker 1: twenty nineteen. Doctor Shuliac and mister Epstein seemed every bit
- 8:25Speaker 1: the couple. She was living most of the time in
- 8:27Speaker 1: his New York mansion and took along her cat Blueberry
- 8:30Speaker 1: when they traveled together. She had become a licensed dentist
- 8:34Speaker 1: in the US Virgin Islands, Florida, and New Mexico after
- 8:38Speaker 1: completing dental school in twenty fifteen, but there's no evidence
- 8:42Speaker 1: that she had much of a practice, even though the
- 8:44Speaker 1: files detailed dental equipment installed that some of the residences. Instead,
- 8:49Speaker 1: she spent much of her energy helping to manage his
- 8:52Speaker 1: properties and staff. That was her new role. She took
- 8:55Speaker 1: over for Sarah Kellen Vickers and Glene Maxwell. That was
- 8:59Speaker 1: the role. Now was she setting up girls to come in?
- 9:02Speaker 1: I don't know. We haven't seen that yet, and she
- 9:04Speaker 1: seems a bit jealous, so probably not, But who knows.
- 9:08Speaker 1: We have to keep going. We have to dig deeper,
- 9:10Speaker 1: and we have to see where the evidence takes us.
- 9:14Speaker 1: No task seemed too small. She instructed his drivers to
- 9:17Speaker 1: keep cold vast water in mister Epstein's cars, organized a
- 9:21Speaker 1: floral installation for his Manhattan mansion, ordered a shipping container
- 9:25Speaker 1: filled with outdoor furniture for his island, and managed repairs
- 9:29Speaker 1: and cleaning schedules for the Upper east Side apartments that
- 9:32Speaker 1: his brother was invested in. In mid June twenty nineteen,
- 9:36Speaker 1: the pair traveled to Paris, where mister Epstein had an apartment.
- 9:41Speaker 1: On July sixth, mister Epstein returned home to the United
- 9:44Speaker 1: States while doctor Shuliac remained in Europe. When his plane
- 9:48Speaker 1: touched down at Teeterborough Airport in New Jersey, federal agents
- 9:52Speaker 1: were waiting and arrested them. Too little, too late. Bro
- 9:57Speaker 1: should have been arrested twenty years ago and not just
- 10:00Speaker 1: arrested thrown under the prison. About a month and a
- 10:04Speaker 1: half after his arrest, In a twenty minute phone call
- 10:06Speaker 1: from jail in Lower Manhattan, mister Epstein told doctor Schuliac
- 10:10Speaker 1: that the federal sex trafficking charges would take longer to
- 10:13Speaker 1: resolve than he had thought. He advised her to find
- 10:16Speaker 1: another place to stay for the time being. According to
- 10:19Speaker 1: an account of the call provided by her lawyer to
- 10:22Speaker 1: federal authorities, the lawyer, Maurice Sir Cars said he had
- 10:27Speaker 1: told her to be strong. The next morning, August tenth,
- 10:30Speaker 1: twenty nineteen, mister Epstein was found to have died by
- 10:34Speaker 1: suicide in his jail cell, allegedly. Now, look, I am
- 10:39Speaker 1: more than willing to accept that it was suicide, but
- 10:42Speaker 1: we need more evidence. I mean, when you have doctor
- 10:45Speaker 1: Boden and several other medical examiners calling out Barbara Sampson
- 10:51Speaker 1: Hawk for her job here, for what she said, what
- 10:53Speaker 1: she did, I think we have to take note of that,
- 10:56Speaker 1: and I think we should pay attention. Shortly before his death,
- 11:01Speaker 1: mister Epstein amended his will to leave her much of
- 11:04Speaker 1: the six hundred million dollar fortune that he had at
- 11:06Speaker 1: the time, including the large diamond ring in contemplation of marriage,
- 11:11Speaker 1: according to a handwritten note on a related document, but
- 11:14Speaker 1: how much she will actually receive is unclear. The estate
- 11:19Speaker 1: is worth between one hundred and twenty million and two
- 11:22Speaker 1: hundred million after paying out large thumbs to his victims.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Record show there are dozens of beneficiaries in addition to
- 11:29Speaker 1: doctor Shuliac, including Mark Epstein's children, who stand to inherit
- 11:33Speaker 1: ten million. Of course they do, and all this money
- 11:36Speaker 1: is ill gotten gains. The money should be seized. If
- 11:39Speaker 1: it was a Rico case, the money would have been seized.
- 11:41Speaker 1: And that's another reason why it's not a Rico case.
- 11:44Speaker 1: People are still getting rich here. And when I say people,
- 11:47Speaker 1: I don't mean survivors and all the jack holes out
- 11:50Speaker 1: there saying, oh, it was a big money grab by
- 11:52Speaker 1: the survivors, Well, Jeffrey Epstein's nieces or whatever the fuck
- 11:57Speaker 1: they're about to get ten million dollars. And I can
- 12:00Speaker 1: assure you none of the survivors got ten million dollars
- 12:03Speaker 1: from Jeffrey Epstein's estate. So take your bitch ass narrative
- 12:06Speaker 1: and shove it. Yet, despite this potential winfall, doctor Shuliac
- 12:11Speaker 1: did not give up her desire to be a dentist.
- 12:13Speaker 1: By twenty twenty three, she was back in New York
- 12:16Speaker 1: applying for a post doctoral dental program at Columbia, apparently
- 12:20Speaker 1: to fulfill a requirement she needed to obtain a license
- 12:23Speaker 1: to practice in the state. The same two dentists who
- 12:26Speaker 1: helped her gain admission to Columbia in twenty twelve once
- 12:29Speaker 1: again came to her assistance, according to a copy of
- 12:33Speaker 1: her admission file reviewed by The Times. The file shows
- 12:37Speaker 1: that doctor Fine, the dean overseeing Columbia's postgraduate residency program
- 12:42Speaker 1: created a special faculty internship for her at the Midtown
- 12:45Speaker 1: Manhattan dental practice he shared with doctor Magnonnie. Both men
- 12:50Speaker 1: gave her their highest recommendation for the program, which she
- 12:53Speaker 1: graduated from in May of twenty twenty five along with
- 12:56Speaker 1: six other students. In November, she received her dental license
- 12:59Speaker 1: to practice in New York. In the aftermath of the
- 13:02Speaker 1: release of the Epstein files, Columbia demoted doctor Fine and
- 13:06Speaker 1: removed doctor Magnonni from his alumni leadership post. The men
- 13:11Speaker 1: declined to comment. The university did not recommend any consequences
- 13:15Speaker 1: for doctor Shuliac, who had said had met the qualifications
- 13:19Speaker 1: for admission. Ah Well, in that case, I'm sure Jeffrey
- 13:23Speaker 1: Epstein and his long arm had nothing to do with it.
- 13:27Speaker 1: At around the same time she received her New York
- 13:29Speaker 1: dental license, doctor Shuliac entered a want ad on indeed
- 13:33Speaker 1: dot com for a part time job as a dentist
- 13:35Speaker 1: in downtown Brooklyn. According to a dentist with a practice
- 13:38Speaker 1: who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss workplace issues,
- 13:44Speaker 1: it was there that Junhan Kim, a patient, was treated
- 13:47Speaker 1: by her twice for cleaning in December and a filling
- 13:50Speaker 1: in February. Miss Kim said she hadn't realized doctor Shuliac's
- 13:54Speaker 1: true identity until she saw photographs of her released with
- 13:58Speaker 1: the Epstein files. Feeling duped because she was not informed
- 14:02Speaker 1: of doctor Shuliac's full name and wanting to warn other patients,
- 14:06Speaker 1: she reached out to The Times. Hey, I get it, man,
- 14:09Speaker 1: I don't want one of Jeffrey Epstein's manson family people
- 14:12Speaker 1: digging around in my mouth either. I was so upset,
- 14:17Speaker 1: miss Kim said, I just couldn't believe it. Of all
- 14:20Speaker 1: the things that happened to me, I didn't win the lottery.
- 14:22Speaker 1: I met Jeffrey Epstein's girlfriend. Doctor Shuliac's last day working
- 14:27Speaker 1: at the Brooklyn office was February twelfth. She was supposed
- 14:30Speaker 1: to work on February sixteenth, but called in sick and
- 14:33Speaker 1: never returned. The notoriety from the files probably made it
- 14:38Speaker 1: difficult for her to keep working there. The dentist at
- 14:40Speaker 1: the practice said, doctor Shuliac's lawyer declined to say whether
- 14:44Speaker 1: she had gotten another dental job. And unfortunately that's the
- 14:48Speaker 1: scarlet letter right Epstein's girlfriend. Somebody that was that close
- 14:53Speaker 1: to him, somebody that knew what he was. And not
- 14:55Speaker 1: only that, but according to the files, according to what
- 14:58Speaker 1: we know, she never claimed to be a victor, so
- 15:00Speaker 1: she was there willingly. So I could understand why Miss
- 15:03Speaker 1: Kim wants nothing to do with a dentist that was
- 15:06Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein's girlfriend. I mean, it seems like a quality
- 15:09Speaker 1: life decision to me. So I wonder what's gonna happen
- 15:13Speaker 1: with the money, and I wonder if Shuliac is gonna
- 15:15Speaker 1: get her share of it. And to that end, like usual,
- 15:18Speaker 1: we'll keep an eye on it, and when we have
- 15:19Speaker 1: some more information one way or the other, we'll get
- 15:22Speaker 1: that added to the catalog as well. All the information
- 15:26Speaker 1: that goes with this episode can be found in the
- 15:29Speaker 1: description box.
