- 0:19Speaker 2: Welcome to Patriot's Unfiltered. In full disclosure. Fred and Paul
- 0:25Speaker 2: do not handle the NFL awards well because people don't
- 0:29Speaker 2: do it right.
- 0:30Speaker 4: They put on.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Spoder. May has to play poorly for all those things.
- 0:36Speaker 2: I don't think so.
- 0:36Speaker 3: I think you could play average, and that could happen.
- 0:39Speaker 2: He'll put too many punks. I've watched football for a while.
- 0:42Speaker 2: I you know, I kind of have like I don't
- 0:45Speaker 2: like to kill people for opinions because everybody has them.
- 0:47Speaker 3: I do stupid. Okay, no one defends the other Paul.
- 0:52Speaker 2: I'm not defending them. I don't think they have a
- 0:53Speaker 2: chance in hell to win the game. If that's offending
- 0:55Speaker 2: the other team, then sign me up. You can't het
- 0:58Speaker 2: Fred's mansion.
- 1:00Speaker 5: It's just hitting my unit thousand feet.
- 1:05Speaker 3: O my god.
- 1:07Speaker 2: That's a good out of context. That's not out of context.
- 1:11Speaker 2: This is Patriots It's Unfiltered.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Presented by Toyota's official website.
- 1:16Speaker 3: For deals, buy a Toyota dot com.
- 1:21Speaker 6: All right, Welcome to Patriots Home of the super Bowl bound.
- 1:27Speaker 2: New England Patriots.
- 1:29Speaker 3: I can't believe we're sitting here a week away from
- 1:33Speaker 3: heading down to Santa Clara or wherever the hell we're going,
- 1:37Speaker 3: and then like less than a week away, two weeks
- 1:40Speaker 3: away from the Patriots playing in the Super Bowl against
- 1:43Speaker 3: the Seahawks. By the way, in case you just woke up,
- 1:47Speaker 3: it's it's incredible.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Like, how did it happen? Don't know?
- 1:51Speaker 1: We had a row seat of it, and I still
- 1:53Speaker 1: don't know how it happened. And even today's starting to
- 1:55Speaker 1: shoot some of our shows, like.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Is this real?
- 1:58Speaker 1: Is this really happen?
- 1:59Speaker 2: You guys are talked.
- 2:00Speaker 1: About this, and now it looks like finally people like
- 2:02Speaker 1: Evan and I will have a chance to I'm so
- 2:04Speaker 1: happy for this glory. Haven't happy for you?
- 2:07Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 2:09Speaker 3: I can't imagine dudes like believing like it's never gonna happen,
- 2:12Speaker 3: while I'm, oh.
- 2:13Speaker 6: Sure that's possible.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Like there are still teams in the league that have
- 2:16Speaker 3: never won a Super Bowl. There's still teams in the
- 2:18Speaker 3: league that have never been to a super Bowl.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Oh yeah, you know. That was part of my thinking too,
- 2:24Speaker 1: is like on the side was like, who does who
- 2:25Speaker 1: does this Irk the most, and there was a long
- 2:27Speaker 1: list in my head, so people who across the NFL
- 2:29Speaker 1: landscape and beyond that Patriots being back in the Super Bowl, right,
- 2:34Speaker 1: Buffalo fans, Oh my god? Right, Like I.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Think that's it. I think, I mean, that's that's the
- 2:38Speaker 2: top of my list. Like we have the guy like
- 2:44Speaker 2: Felger yesterday and for one of the rare times, like
- 2:47Speaker 2: they have the guy and they just go like two
- 2:50Speaker 2: years into their guy. How did that happen? You know?
- 2:53Speaker 3: I was thinking, like, of all the teams that have
- 2:55Speaker 3: never been or won, aren't the Vikings like a sneaky,
- 2:58Speaker 3: sad story. Oh yeah, Like they don't get mentioned as
- 3:02Speaker 3: much as the Bills.
- 3:03Speaker 2: They were the satisfaction of the seventies. The Bills took
- 3:06Speaker 2: over for them in the nineties. Right, but they've been
- 3:08Speaker 2: and never won four four of them four times.
- 3:10Speaker 7: Yeah, Vikings, Browns, Bills, Lions.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Those are the struggles struggle. Chargers have never won. Right,
- 3:19Speaker 2: Chargers went once they lost, they got killed by San Francisco. Correct, Yeah,
- 3:23Speaker 2: but you know Detroit never, Cleveland never, you know, Houston
- 3:29Speaker 2: never even to the conference championship.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Right, you know, well, screw them, We're going to Patriots
- 3:36Speaker 3: are going for how many times?
- 3:37Speaker 2: Brad?
- 3:37Speaker 3: This is our twelfth super Bowl record record, twelfth super Bowl.
- 3:42Speaker 7: It's eleven for Fred, which is incredible.
- 3:44Speaker 2: We're going for our seventh win.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Can I say that. I brought that out when I
- 3:48Speaker 1: was back home. I was talking to my wife as
- 3:49Speaker 1: we were watching the second game on Sunday night. I'm like,
- 3:51Speaker 1: this is pretty cool for Fred, like to see it
- 3:54Speaker 1: in Denver where they play all their games, Like you're
- 3:56Speaker 1: running joke of that?
- 3:57Speaker 2: And how many times did you say that over the
- 3:59Speaker 2: weekend because we're in Denver, because of.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Course, right, but you I mean, I know that Josh
- 4:04Speaker 1: McDaniels thinging O nine was big for you, and then
- 4:07Speaker 1: you know you saw thirteen fifteen.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Yeah, but you know I've had some good experiences there too.
- 4:13Speaker 1: That's a good one, you know.
- 4:14Speaker 2: But yeah, it's it's just so amazing. So that's it.
- 4:19Speaker 2: I'm done.
- 4:21Speaker 1: You got you must have a lot of work to do,
- 4:23Speaker 1: Fred imaged, Yeah, a little bit, just a little bit.
- 4:25Speaker 2: I've been yelled at twice. I've yelled at Paul once once.
- 4:30Speaker 2: I've also yelled at a choke once.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Days early, so you know, yeah, it's the days early
- 4:35Speaker 3: it's it's a lot going on.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Yeah, it does provide a lot of stress the week
- 4:40Speaker 2: before you get there. Yeah, and once you get there,
- 4:43Speaker 2: it's kind of never as bad as you think.
- 4:44Speaker 3: No, But so I do have sort of I'm an
- 4:49Speaker 3: announcement to make up out next week for this show.
- 4:52Speaker 3: So something we've never done before for whether it's PFW
- 4:57Speaker 3: in Progress or Patriots Unfiltered at the super Bowl. We're
- 5:01Speaker 3: going to be live from Media Row at the Moscone
- 5:05Speaker 3: Convention Center in San Francisco starting on Tuesday through Friday.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Four bonus coverage four hours a day, four hours a
- 5:15Speaker 3: day Tuesday through Friday next week at Media Row. So
- 5:20Speaker 3: that means you'll get us, but hopefully we're going to
- 5:23Speaker 3: have a bunch of other guests, people going, you know,
- 5:27Speaker 3: walking around doing their media hits. So it's going to
- 5:31Speaker 3: be a big week for Patriots Unfiltered four hours a day. Now,
- 5:34Speaker 3: the timing, because you know we're in West Coast time,
- 5:39Speaker 3: the best time for us, it's going to be ten
- 5:41Speaker 3: to two Pacific time, which means one to five East
- 5:46Speaker 3: Coast time. So I know we usually start at noon,
- 5:50Speaker 3: but with everything going on there, for me, I thought,
- 5:53Speaker 3: you know, right in the middle of the day ten
- 5:54Speaker 3: to two local time is when we're going to be on.
- 5:58Speaker 3: So of course we're still going to have to break
- 5:59Speaker 3: for lunch. This piece of time delivered, I think. So
- 6:03Speaker 3: I'm working that out.
- 6:04Speaker 2: I'm working that loaded the West coast. It's gonna be
- 6:08Speaker 2: free stride.
- 6:09Speaker 3: But you know it's it's okay. So so again next week,
- 6:16Speaker 3: starting on Tuesday ten to two, live from Media Row.
- 6:21Speaker 2: We've never done that before.
- 6:22Speaker 3: You know, the not done work was close to Media Row,
- 6:25Speaker 3: but it was our own studio. But we're going to
- 6:27Speaker 3: be right there in the middle of everything. You know,
- 6:29Speaker 3: maybe we'll uh, maybe I'll bombard Felger at two o'clock
- 6:34Speaker 3: or something like that.
- 6:35Speaker 2: You know, it'd be good for me. I don't have
- 6:36Speaker 2: a long walk there you go.
- 6:41Speaker 3: So, but it's gonna be fun. Catch twenty two. You
- 6:43Speaker 3: haven't given me your day yet.
- 6:45Speaker 7: We're gonna do Wednesday afternoon. Wednesday afternoon because very busy
- 6:49Speaker 7: as well.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Okay, so that'll also be live from Media Row. Oh yeah,
- 6:52Speaker 3: So Evan will be coming in and out, like you know,
- 6:55Speaker 3: he's the availability for the Patriots team at the team
- 7:01Speaker 3: hotel is early in the morning, eight o'clock and.
- 7:03Speaker 2: It goes into like nine thirty. I think. So it's
- 7:06Speaker 2: up to Evan.
- 7:07Speaker 3: He can get in a car or whatever and come
- 7:11Speaker 3: up to the show and pop in and let us
- 7:12Speaker 3: know how availability went. And we'll have a lot of
- 7:15Speaker 3: that stuff live on Patriot dot com as well for you.
- 7:20Speaker 3: But we've we've seen it all, we've heard it all.
- 7:23Speaker 3: I think it's more important for us to be on
- 7:25Speaker 3: the show between ten and two. Uh, and we'll get
- 7:29Speaker 3: the reports from Evan and everyone else about what's going
- 7:32Speaker 3: on at availability.
- 7:33Speaker 2: And then there's a solver practices.
- 7:35Speaker 1: There's just one like that stuff.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Yeah, it's much different. Yeah, it's a different thing. It's
- 7:43Speaker 2: like a national person.
- 7:45Speaker 1: And we'll be at media night too, raised in Monday
- 7:47Speaker 1: night the kid to talk about.
- 7:49Speaker 3: It's called Opening Night, Opening Night, and so we'll be
- 7:52Speaker 3: there with Bells on our content team. Uh, you know,
- 7:56Speaker 3: spinning off one offs and stuff like that. We've got
- 7:58Speaker 3: a couple of things. We're gonna be hiring up a player, uh,
- 8:01Speaker 3: so we'll go around with him. Yeah, we'll do a
- 8:05Speaker 3: bunch of stuff there. So you know, that's another night
- 8:08Speaker 3: of full availability for the team.
- 8:11Speaker 8: Uh.
- 8:11Speaker 3: And we'll have a bunch of stuff we won't be
- 8:13Speaker 3: live that night, but we'll be spinning off one offs
- 8:16Speaker 3: throughout the night and the next morning.
- 8:18Speaker 2: I actually thought about that a little bit, trying to
- 8:20Speaker 2: get no socks and I we're talking about what do
- 8:23Speaker 2: you think. I just thought it might be a little
- 8:25Speaker 2: bit too hard to pull off doing a live show
- 8:27Speaker 2: from from all night. I can't right now. Yeah, right now,
- 8:33Speaker 2: I'm just treading lightly around Fred. No, no sudden movements.
- 8:38Speaker 2: I will not be arguing with you as much today
- 8:39Speaker 2: as I normally will. Thank you out of respect, thank
- 8:42Speaker 2: you for you fun. Yeah, fun, Evan. I can't imagine
- 8:47Speaker 2: there's many things in football related that you despise more
- 8:50Speaker 2: than than media nite. The opening up there. Yeah, can
- 8:54Speaker 2: we just talk about the backside?
- 8:56Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 8:56Speaker 2: Like what are we doing?
- 8:57Speaker 3: But at the same time, it's like a buffet for
- 8:59Speaker 3: you when it comes to talking to coaches.
- 9:01Speaker 7: That's what I was just about to say. I remember
- 9:03Speaker 7: in nineteen, you know, in Atlanta, having a very lengthy
- 9:08Speaker 7: conversation about the Patriots transformation on offense to more of
- 9:14Speaker 7: a two back, you know, James Devlin and full back
- 9:17Speaker 7: in the backfield offense with Dante's Scarnekia, And that conversation
- 9:21Speaker 7: was very cool. So that that is a very that's
- 9:25Speaker 7: one silver lining about Media Nite. But like when the
- 9:27Speaker 7: silliness goes on when they have like the guys go
- 9:29Speaker 7: around and they ask like what's your favorite color?
- 9:32Speaker 2: Like, yeah, who's your hero?
- 9:35Speaker 3: Who?
- 9:36Speaker 2: Yeah? Now my dad? Yeah.
- 9:38Speaker 3: Now. One thing I hope you won't be hearing on
- 9:40Speaker 3: our show, whether it's this week or next week, is
- 9:43Speaker 3: complaining about the city, you know, like because I know
- 9:48Speaker 3: every one of you would give your right, you know what,
- 9:51Speaker 3: to be down there. So you know, we're not gonna
- 9:54Speaker 3: you're not gonna hear from us how you know, bad
- 9:56Speaker 3: the food is or bad the comminations are this or
- 9:59Speaker 3: the t traffic or whatever.
- 10:01Speaker 2: I make no promises, but traffic, we're just gonna give it.
- 10:05Speaker 3: We're gonna do that off the Yeah, we're gonna yeah,
- 10:07Speaker 3: we'll do that on our right.
- 10:09Speaker 2: The age old thing is this, and does anybody care
- 10:12Speaker 2: less about the travels and travails of the media right, Like,
- 10:17Speaker 2: and that's all anybody does this. This city is great,
- 10:20Speaker 2: this city stakes, the travels awful, the food is terrible.
- 10:24Speaker 2: There's nowhere to party, Like, can anything be less relatable
- 10:28Speaker 2: to the people that are actually listening to you than that,
- 10:30Speaker 2: and that's all you get at the Super Bowl, right.
- 10:33Speaker 1: I plan to order bad, try to harness the energy
- 10:36Speaker 1: of going to the first time I ever going to
- 10:38Speaker 1: a super Bowl, and and I have no expectations of
- 10:41Speaker 1: where I'm just gonna why. I point me where to go,
- 10:44Speaker 1: tell me when to talk, do what I have to do.
- 10:46Speaker 1: But I can't wait. I mean, it's it's also a
- 10:48Speaker 1: Super Bowl bul coaches named Mike, so I feel like
- 10:50Speaker 1: it's lined out.
- 10:52Speaker 3: That's the most common name of head coaches in Super Bowl.
- 10:55Speaker 2: I saw your boy Kyle Brandt last night on ESPN
- 10:59Speaker 2: say like storyline that I'm already sick of. We're not
- 11:02Speaker 2: even a day in and the both coaches named Mike.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Let's get I think if he's on radio row, I'm
- 11:09Speaker 1: going to strangle him and get him. I'll get him
- 11:11Speaker 1: on PU for sure, and I can ask him about.
- 11:13Speaker 2: The I did make. We taped our first TV show
- 11:16Speaker 2: of the week, Patriots Unfiltered TV this morning, Mike and
- 11:19Speaker 2: I with Alex and I made an official my my
- 11:22Speaker 2: official statement congratulating Alex, Mike and Evan. Now I no
- 11:28Speaker 2: longer will have that little punchline like no no back
- 11:31Speaker 2: when we used to go to super Bowls. You guys
- 11:33Speaker 2: wouldn't know about that. Yeah, I can't say that anymore.
- 11:36Speaker 2: You guys will get to be with fred and I
- 11:38Speaker 2: and Freddy will show you the roads. Freddie, Freddy knows
- 11:41Speaker 2: way to have all the fun.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Well, I mean, how about for you, fred Because like
- 11:43Speaker 1: I mean, I was I you you went to all
- 11:46Speaker 1: those Super Bowls. I'm sure you're probably thinking like, ah,
- 11:48Speaker 1: that's it.
- 11:48Speaker 2: I had a good run.
- 11:49Speaker 1: I'm not gonna probably get back to the super Bowl, but.
- 11:51Speaker 2: I'm not gonna lie I did another one kind of did.
- 11:54Speaker 3: It was definitely a thought like because you can't take
- 11:57Speaker 3: this for granted, like we just went over there's team
- 12:00Speaker 3: that have never been there, let alone won it. And
- 12:03Speaker 3: just because you get there one year, it doesn't mean
- 12:05Speaker 3: you're going to go back. That's why what we've done
- 12:08Speaker 3: is so freaking amazing.
- 12:10Speaker 2: You know what, Like I thought, I didn't think there
- 12:12Speaker 2: was a chance in the world going into the game
- 12:14Speaker 2: Sunday that they were going to lose, right, I thought
- 12:16Speaker 2: for sure they were going to win. But yet when
- 12:18Speaker 2: they won, I was still kind of amazed that they're
- 12:21Speaker 2: going to the super Bowl. Even though the whole week
- 12:24Speaker 2: I wasn't putting on a false act. I didn't think
- 12:26Speaker 2: there was any chance they were going to lose the game,
- 12:29Speaker 2: but I guess I didn't then extrapolate that that means
- 12:32Speaker 2: you going to the super Bowl, And like I was
- 12:35Speaker 2: just like sitting there, we were watching we had we
- 12:37Speaker 2: had a good time. Sunday night. We had a huge
- 12:38Speaker 2: snowstorm here. There's about eight or ten of us that
- 12:41Speaker 2: stayed at the hotel. We watched the Seahawks in rams
- 12:45Speaker 2: and we had just a lot of fun. Like Bob Doyle,
- 12:47Speaker 2: who's been around as long as I have, you know,
- 12:50Speaker 2: I just like looking at it. I was like, can
- 12:51Speaker 2: you believe we're going back to the super Bowl? And
- 12:53Speaker 2: it was like, no, I can't. And then, like Fred said,
- 12:56Speaker 2: you just kind of take it for granted.
- 12:58Speaker 3: It's crazy, but don't don't take it for granted. I
- 13:02Speaker 3: have to pinch myself.
- 13:03Speaker 2: You know.
- 13:04Speaker 3: We had a big staff meeting this morning, and I
- 13:06Speaker 3: was just saying like, like, I'm excited, but I'm also
- 13:10Speaker 3: anxious and because and they have a lot of anxiety
- 13:14Speaker 3: because I know what's required of us once we're down there.
- 13:18Speaker 3: There's a lot of work to do. So but our
- 13:21Speaker 3: job is to bring the Super Bowl to you. That's
- 13:24Speaker 3: what we're going to try to do all next week,
- 13:27Speaker 3: so perfectly put.
- 13:29Speaker 2: I keep to our job. I can't wait. So let's
- 13:33Speaker 2: let's get it. Let's talk about this game.
- 13:36Speaker 3: Yeah, it was wild. There was snow forecasted for the
- 13:41Speaker 3: second half, but not like that.
- 13:43Speaker 2: No, that was unexpected. You know that that guy that
- 13:46Speaker 2: we were a little disrespectful of, Bianchi, that was the name. Uh.
- 13:51Speaker 2: He didn't think it was going to be heavy snow.
- 13:53Speaker 2: He said, a chance of flurries late, but he did
- 13:55Speaker 2: nail everything else. It got cold and weather was going
- 13:58Speaker 2: to be a factor. He said that people were underselling
- 14:00Speaker 2: the weather. In the middle of the week, he started
- 14:02Speaker 2: on it. Yeah, it's going to be cold and it's
- 14:04Speaker 2: going to be a factor. And then all of a sudden,
- 14:07Speaker 2: the wind and snow and the fourth par I mean.
- 14:09Speaker 3: We've seen snow games where offensive scored tons of points. Yeah,
- 14:13Speaker 3: you couldn't do that in this game. One because both
- 14:15Speaker 3: defenses were really good. That was that was number one.
- 14:18Speaker 3: I agree with that. But the way the wind was blowing,
- 14:21Speaker 3: and I guess you know the nature of the kind
- 14:24Speaker 3: of snow was very slippery. We saw demandre slip and
- 14:28Speaker 3: then they may slip right right there in that part
- 14:31Speaker 3: of the field.
- 14:33Speaker 2: It was no one was scoring anything.
- 14:35Speaker 3: And I remember on the blog somebody said, you know,
- 14:37Speaker 3: do you think what do the pages need to do?
- 14:39Speaker 3: And at that point it was ten to seven. I said,
- 14:41Speaker 3: they need to pitch a shut out. Yeah, that's what
- 14:43Speaker 3: they're going to have to do.
- 14:44Speaker 2: When this game.
- 14:45Speaker 1: I thought Paul had an excellent question on Carlin Davis,
- 14:47Speaker 1: just asking them what it was really like on the field,
- 14:49Speaker 1: because for us watching on TV, you could tell it
- 14:51Speaker 1: was bad, but you didn't know how bad. That whole
- 14:54Speaker 1: end of the game was just kind of riveting to
- 14:56Speaker 1: me because the Patriots' backs were against the wall and
- 14:59Speaker 1: they just they had no way to move the ball,
- 15:01Speaker 1: and you're like, you know, I mean it's literally a
- 15:04Speaker 1: game of a fingertip that that you know, that block.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Off, like I mean, field goal, Yeah, that was headed
- 15:10Speaker 3: for good.
- 15:11Speaker 2: That was you could tell that well, you can't really
- 15:13Speaker 2: tell it looked it. Yeah, it looked like it was
- 15:15Speaker 2: going to go straight. It looked like it was well
- 15:17Speaker 2: struck as ye sociated and just that that hand on it.
- 15:21Speaker 1: We're just but it was like the field position was
- 15:24Speaker 1: so overwhelming at that part of the game where it's
- 15:26Speaker 1: like the weather's holding you back and you have inches
- 15:29Speaker 1: to spare and you're kicking was like a thirty yard punt.
- 15:32Speaker 1: I mean, it was that part of the game to
- 15:34Speaker 1: me was just just so tense for them to have
- 15:35Speaker 1: to close it out. But at a certain point, I
- 15:38Speaker 1: just said, I clicked in my brain. I'm like, they've
- 15:41Speaker 1: won these kind of games all year. This is like
- 15:42Speaker 1: these are the kind of games they win, Like they
- 15:44Speaker 1: find ways to win this game, and they found that
- 15:47Speaker 1: yet another way to win.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:48Speaker 7: I think that that snow being so unexpected, they didn't
- 15:52Speaker 7: do a very good job of taking care of the
- 15:53Speaker 7: field frankly, as the snow was starting and so it
- 15:56Speaker 7: was like packed onto the field. And then they all
- 16:00Speaker 7: have mentioned, you know that that I think it's grass, right,
- 16:03Speaker 7: I think it's real grass. And so they don't have
- 16:05Speaker 7: like any like heating or any sort of like uh
- 16:09Speaker 7: you know, like that you get with turf to to
- 16:11Speaker 7: try to melt some of the snow. Some of the
- 16:14Speaker 7: players after the game were telling us that they couldn't
- 16:16Speaker 7: even really see at points of the fourth quarter, you know,
- 16:20Speaker 7: they were just trying to see through.
- 16:22Speaker 3: The snows, like it was tough, like it was just
- 16:25Speaker 3: flashels of numbers.
- 16:27Speaker 2: It was you know, I think it might not have
- 16:30Speaker 2: been Romo, it might have been nance, but it was
- 16:32Speaker 2: one of the few relevant comments they made in the game.
- 16:36Speaker 2: You don't really think of it, but they're in white
- 16:39Speaker 2: and it's all white. It was a white out. And
- 16:42Speaker 2: you know, you said when I when I asked Carlton
- 16:43Speaker 2: Davis about he said, it was the worst conditions he's
- 16:45Speaker 2: ever played in.
- 16:46Speaker 7: Yeah, it was really bad. And you know, we had
- 16:48Speaker 7: to r people down on the field and we've all
- 16:51Speaker 7: every all of them have worked some cold games. They
- 16:53Speaker 7: said that was the coldest that they've ever been.
- 16:55Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know that that was Were they all
- 16:57Speaker 2: ready for that?
- 16:58Speaker 7: I think so, but you know that that's what they said.
- 17:01Speaker 7: And I was like, really, like, I mean, we're kind
- 17:02Speaker 7: of going through the list on Sunday night after the
- 17:05Speaker 7: game with some of the other bad weather games that
- 17:07Speaker 7: they've played, and uh, you know, are like video people
- 17:10Speaker 7: and social people that have to be on the field
- 17:12Speaker 7: during the game, or said that was the coldest it's
- 17:14Speaker 7: been and there was something going on with the heaters
- 17:16Speaker 7: on the sideline weren't working as well. Uh, and so
- 17:21Speaker 7: there was a lot of stuff like that that was
- 17:23Speaker 7: going on in this game.
- 17:24Speaker 1: It had an impact for sure the fourth quarter.
- 17:26Speaker 7: Even on the on the the old ALL twenty two,
- 17:29Speaker 7: like the end zone angle is barely legible. So, you know,
- 17:33Speaker 7: I think a lot of the offense, you know, has
- 17:35Speaker 7: to do with the Broncos defense, some of the issues
- 17:37Speaker 7: that have gone on with the Patriots offensively. But I
- 17:40Speaker 7: kind of throw the fourth quarter out, Like.
- 17:42Speaker 2: I agree, I don't really know how three quarters I
- 17:44Speaker 2: thought you could operate in the fourth It was. It
- 17:46Speaker 2: was funny, you know what. It reminded me of Mike.
- 17:48Speaker 2: It was like that Baltimore game that we always joke
- 17:50Speaker 2: about they might come back in the Patriots. The Patriots
- 17:52Speaker 2: get the lead and then the other team gets the
- 17:53Speaker 2: ball with a chance to win and Gomedd's gonna come.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Like it was like the Patriots kicked that field goal
- 17:59Speaker 2: and that was the line of demarcation to be able
- 18:01Speaker 2: to move the football. Once they took the ten to
- 18:03Speaker 2: seven lead, the conditions became such that you couldn't move
- 18:06Speaker 2: and you certainly couldn't move that way, and then Patriots
- 18:09Speaker 2: obviously had to go that way in the fourth quarter.
- 18:12Speaker 2: But Evan's point is valid. There was a good chunk
- 18:17Speaker 2: of the game the first half, like there was nothing
- 18:19Speaker 2: wrong with the conditions. Denver was moving it reasonably well
- 18:22Speaker 2: early in the game, the first I'd say they went
- 18:24Speaker 2: three and hour in their first drive. The next three
- 18:26Speaker 2: possessions they kind of moved the ball a little bit.
- 18:28Speaker 2: The Patriots could do nothing offensively.
- 18:32Speaker 3: That the flea Flicker thing was, you know, the best
- 18:35Speaker 3: player of the game. Yeah, and that was you know,
- 18:38Speaker 3: kind of later, Yeah, third quarter. This is why you
- 18:41Speaker 3: know we're going to get into all this stuff.
- 18:44Speaker 2: You know, Sean Payton's decision to not take a two
- 18:46Speaker 2: scool aid to me was yeah, malpractice. Now, in his defense,
- 18:51Speaker 2: he owned it. He said I was wrong, and he
- 18:54Speaker 2: not only said that it was wrong to not kick
- 18:56Speaker 2: the field goal, he really questioned himself on his play
- 18:59Speaker 2: call that he changed he you know, when he called
- 19:02Speaker 2: time out, he checked out of the run and went
- 19:03Speaker 2: to a pass. Said that they just got he they
- 19:06Speaker 2: fooled me, Like they gave a look that they had
- 19:09Speaker 2: given on film and they didn't do what they had
- 19:11Speaker 2: they had done on film. So again, Zach Korr in
- 19:14Speaker 2: that defense talk about rising to the occasion throughout the postseason.
- 19:18Speaker 2: All three games were largely won on defense. Yeah, all three.
- 19:22Speaker 7: That whole sequence. You know, Marcus Jones getting stit him
- 19:25Speaker 7: down short on on third down, he actually kind of
- 19:28Speaker 7: like got sucked in and fooled and then just got
- 19:30Speaker 7: on his horse and was able to get stitit him
- 19:32Speaker 7: down a yard short. And then I would actually say
- 19:35Speaker 7: the unsung hero of the fourth down play because everybody
- 19:37Speaker 7: can see Milton Williams coming through on blocked, Craig Woodson
- 19:41Speaker 7: switches onto the running back on that play. It's like
- 19:44Speaker 7: a little pick play and Craig Woodson's standing over. I
- 19:46Speaker 7: think it was a little Jordan Humphrey and he sees
- 19:49Speaker 7: the pick play coming and he covers the running back
- 19:51Speaker 7: coming out of the backfield. Even if Milton Williams is
- 19:54Speaker 7: unblocked to the quarterback, if that switch doesn't happen, then
- 19:57Speaker 7: he's still going to be able to hit the running
- 19:58Speaker 7: You only.
- 19:59Speaker 2: Need a yard, it's not like you need it to
- 20:01Speaker 2: go very far.
- 20:02Speaker 7: So Craig Woodson kind of sneakily made that play and
- 20:06Speaker 7: almost picked it off, and you know, made a great
- 20:08Speaker 7: play there, and that was kind of the game, you know,
- 20:11Speaker 7: that sequence, and then of course, you know, Lenny t
- 20:13Speaker 7: block in the field.
- 20:14Speaker 3: So one of the things I was thinking about in
- 20:16Speaker 3: my commute, you know, I had my musings was the
- 20:20Speaker 3: evolution of the Christian Barmore Milton Williams tandem. You know,
- 20:25Speaker 3: we started preseason thinking, well, you know, if Barmore is
- 20:29Speaker 3: healthy and Williams can play more snaps than he did,
- 20:32Speaker 3: you know, wow, what a pair they're going to have.
- 20:34Speaker 3: And then you know, Barmore started slow this season. Williams
- 20:38Speaker 3: was great right from the start, but then he gets
- 20:42Speaker 3: hurt and in that meantime, Barmore starts to king steam,
- 20:45Speaker 3: but like it doesn't come to fruition because he doesn't
- 20:49Speaker 3: have Milton next to him. Now they're back together, and
- 20:52Speaker 3: I think we're starting to see what we thought they
- 20:54Speaker 3: would be when when they signed Williams and have a
- 20:59Speaker 3: healthy bar Why really good?
- 21:01Speaker 2: Why they're going to the super Bowl.
- 21:02Speaker 7: They're going to the super Bowl because their defensive line
- 21:04Speaker 7: has dominated the line of scrimmage three straight games. Now
- 21:07Speaker 7: they did it against an offensive line that's really really good.
- 21:10Speaker 2: They couldn't run the ball on him.
- 21:12Speaker 7: Jared Sidham had to drop back thirty seven times, which
- 21:14Speaker 7: I'm sure is not the script the Broncos wanted to
- 21:17Speaker 7: go with, especially with the conditions in the second half
- 21:19Speaker 7: and their defensive line. You know, obviously those two guys
- 21:23Speaker 7: are are the two ring leaders. But you know, kylevon
- 21:26Speaker 7: Chason's playoff run has been fantastic. Corey Dirdin does the
- 21:29Speaker 7: dirty work. Kiris Toga obviously comes back and makes plays.
- 21:34Speaker 7: They they've just dominated the line of scrimmage. And as
- 21:37Speaker 7: much as we're going to talk about how good Seattle is,
- 21:39Speaker 7: if they dominate the line of scrimmage like that in
- 21:41Speaker 7: the Super Bowl, they're gonna have a really good chance
- 21:42Speaker 7: to win the game.
- 21:43Speaker 3: Speaking of Seattle, four and a half point favorites, I
- 21:47Speaker 3: thought it would be three.
- 21:48Speaker 2: That they be favorites. So the open disrespected and a
- 21:53Speaker 2: half for both the Rams or the Seahawks against the Patriots,
- 21:57Speaker 2: don't I didn't see what they would have been against Denver,
- 21:58Speaker 2: but against the Patriots, the old when it was three
- 22:00Speaker 2: and a half and then the game ended and immediately
- 22:03Speaker 2: it went to four and a half, which I thought
- 22:05Speaker 2: was interesting.
- 22:06Speaker 1: I saw I said it on the show. I mean
- 22:08Speaker 1: right after the Seattle game ended. I saw David Carr
- 22:10Speaker 1: on NFL Network saying, like I don't want to say
- 22:13Speaker 1: that this is going to be a blowout, but if
- 22:15Speaker 1: the Patriots, I mean it's you know, Patriots are gonna
- 22:17Speaker 1: be underdogs, and I think significant underdogs.
- 22:19Speaker 2: They're going to have to bring an offense. That's the whole. Yeah,
- 22:21Speaker 2: they're going to have to play offense the way they've
- 22:23Speaker 2: played these three US.
- 22:24Speaker 3: Yeah, we've been kind of lull to sleep here by
- 22:27Speaker 3: the offense in these last three games. For various reasons.
- 22:31Speaker 3: They haven't produced. Let's let's face it, they haven't played
- 22:34Speaker 3: that well. And then you look at Seattle and the
- 22:37Speaker 3: speed of the game just seems like a whole different game.
- 22:39Speaker 3: It's like a whole different league going on in the NFCC.
- 22:43Speaker 2: You're what I just said to Evan and Mike a
- 22:44Speaker 2: little while ago. Yeah, that was like a whole different
- 22:46Speaker 2: sport being played in the second game.
- 22:47Speaker 3: But I think the conditions obviously had a lot to
- 22:50Speaker 3: play there. You know, the Houston game was also pretty
- 22:53Speaker 3: bad conditions. So my hope is that once we get
- 22:56Speaker 3: to Santa Clara, if you know, bar any rain, which
- 23:00Speaker 3: could happen, but probably it'll be pretty nice. Yeah, that
- 23:04Speaker 3: maybe we'll find our rhythm again. Back on offense, and
- 23:07Speaker 3: we're gonna have to We're gonna have good place to start.
- 23:09Speaker 1: You know, maybe the weather will be reasonable, but yeah,
- 23:12Speaker 1: it's they are a great defense. I hopped in on
- 23:15Speaker 1: them watching their game, and I mean, they just they're
- 23:17Speaker 1: so sound and they're so fast, and I just have
- 23:20Speaker 1: loved this playoff run because each defense has been a
- 23:22Speaker 1: little bit different, and you know, I think maybe the
- 23:24Speaker 1: last couple of matchups had a little bit better edge
- 23:27Speaker 1: players just you know, Will Anderson maybe, but the Seattle
- 23:30Speaker 1: team just plays all together really fast. They can rush
- 23:33Speaker 1: with four, they can win with four.
- 23:35Speaker 2: You know, v pointed out Earnest.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Jones their linebackers all over the place with five interceptions.
- 23:40Speaker 2: So it's it's a huge challenge, huge challenge.
- 23:42Speaker 1: But I have a there's a part of confidence in me,
- 23:44Speaker 1: and I don't know how Evan feels of all right
- 23:47Speaker 1: get into good weather in the super Bowl unless if
- 23:49Speaker 1: you can get Drake back on rhythm. I just wonder
- 23:51Speaker 1: where his confidence is at and can they salvage that
- 23:54Speaker 1: over the next two weeks.
- 23:55Speaker 3: And just get them to feel like they can do so,
- 23:57Speaker 3: you know, from people who witness to him at to
- 24:00Speaker 3: the game, he was pissed it wasn't, like, you know,
- 24:03Speaker 3: like he was happy that he's going to Super Bowl,
- 24:05Speaker 3: but in terms of his performance in the offense, like
- 24:08Speaker 3: he wasn't.
- 24:09Speaker 2: He's not happy.
- 24:11Speaker 3: So he knows that he can do better and should
- 24:14Speaker 3: be doing better, and that the team can be doing better.
- 24:16Speaker 2: So I like that.
- 24:18Speaker 7: Yeah, I think, you know, just quickly on that. I
- 24:21Speaker 7: he's a second year player, He's new to this kind
- 24:24Speaker 7: of weather, he's new to this climate up here. That's
- 24:26Speaker 7: going to be something that he's going to have to
- 24:29Speaker 7: learn to play in and learn to adjustin. Because to
- 24:32Speaker 7: his credit, they're going to be in playoff games in January.
- 24:36Speaker 2: And they're going to be at home, and they're going
- 24:37Speaker 2: to be at home good team.
- 24:39Speaker 7: And you know, Denver is going to be a good
- 24:40Speaker 7: team for a little bit now too, so maybe they'll
- 24:42Speaker 7: be in Denver or they'll be here and well, you know, Buffalo.
- 24:46Speaker 2: Is going to you know, be around too.
- 24:47Speaker 7: So all these things are you know, happening, and I
- 24:50Speaker 7: just would love for him to you know, figure out
- 24:53Speaker 7: his path to play well in good weather and bad
- 24:56Speaker 7: weather like Brady did. You know, obviously, Brady's probably the
- 24:59Speaker 7: best bad weather quarterback of all time. I'm not expecting
- 25:02Speaker 7: him to be that. But you know, Brady had his system,
- 25:04Speaker 7: he had a scuba suit, he had you know, the
- 25:07Speaker 7: right layer of clothing, and he had a way to
- 25:09Speaker 7: be flexible but also be warm and all that stuff.
- 25:12Speaker 7: And I think Drake May is going to have to
- 25:14Speaker 7: figure that out.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Yeah. So I made a comment in the postgame, Fred,
- 25:18Speaker 2: and you know, thank god the defense did what it
- 25:21Speaker 2: did in these three games, because I think that they were,
- 25:23Speaker 2: like razor thin close to having really different conversations about
- 25:28Speaker 2: the Patriots right now had they lost any of those
- 25:32Speaker 2: three games, which were all losable games. Obviously this one
- 25:36Speaker 2: was the closest to being a loss. But the way
- 25:38Speaker 2: Evan just said that is how Mike and I were
- 25:40Speaker 2: talking about it. Drake May and Weather, right, he hasn't
- 25:44Speaker 2: really answered any of those questions. You played three games
- 25:46Speaker 2: in bad weather and he was not anywhere near as
- 25:49Speaker 2: effective as he was in the regular season. Sort of
- 25:53Speaker 2: the whole they haven't played anybody thing.
- 25:55Speaker 8: Well.
- 25:55Speaker 2: You played three really good defenses and kind of got
- 25:58Speaker 2: controlled by all three of them, especially the last two.
- 26:03Speaker 2: So you didn't really answer any of those questions. Now,
- 26:05Speaker 2: the question that you did answer is is the team
- 26:09Speaker 2: legit because they found out without that fancy, shiny object
- 26:13Speaker 2: at quarterback, you can still find ways to win games
- 26:16Speaker 2: because they're well coached and the defense was dominant in
- 26:19Speaker 2: all three games. So some questions weren't answered positively. Some
- 26:23Speaker 2: questions are still kind of hanging there.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I don't know how you guys felt,
- 26:26Speaker 1: but looking back at the game yesterday and reflecting on it,
- 26:29Speaker 1: it just it was a reminder to me that, like,
- 26:31Speaker 1: this offense still has a way to go, and it's
- 26:33Speaker 1: great that they have Drake May, but like they need
- 26:35Speaker 1: some talent upgrades and some spots and you know, I
- 26:38Speaker 1: don't know not to call out certain guys, but you know,
- 26:40Speaker 1: Josh loves the fullback, Like, you know, can you get
- 26:42Speaker 1: an impact on a fullback? Can you get you know,
- 26:44Speaker 1: Hunter Henry. Can you compliment him with a young tight
- 26:47Speaker 1: end who can run and maybe block a little bit?
- 26:49Speaker 2: You know?
- 26:49Speaker 1: It's just I think they are limited and at times
- 26:52Speaker 1: during that game, granted the weather was part of it,
- 26:54Speaker 1: but this season, I've just this postseason, I should say,
- 26:56Speaker 1: I felt like this is highlighting that you're not good enough,
- 27:01Speaker 1: Like you're gonna have to really get better next year
- 27:03Speaker 1: to stay in this kind of conversation.
- 27:05Speaker 2: It was a degree of difficulty. I thought, to a
- 27:07Speaker 2: lot of their offensive production throughout the three games, that
- 27:11Speaker 2: is hard to sustain. Like watching it, it was like,
- 27:14Speaker 2: I can understand why he went from seventy plus percent
- 27:16Speaker 2: to you know, below sixty percent because the windows were
- 27:20Speaker 2: so small. You know, Mike keeps making the point and
- 27:22Speaker 2: I think he's dead on some of these guys don't
- 27:25Speaker 2: always uncover. You know, just look at the three touchdowns
- 27:28Speaker 2: against Houston and how perfect those three throws had to
- 27:31Speaker 2: be great catches too, but the throat, I mean, there
- 27:34Speaker 2: was no margin forererr. That's why you go from seventy
- 27:37Speaker 2: three percent to whatever it was, fifty eight percent in
- 27:40Speaker 2: the playoffs because there's just nobody running free like it
- 27:44Speaker 2: was in the regular season.
- 27:45Speaker 8: That on.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Both of those deep balls. To know they were good throws,
- 27:51Speaker 2: but certain's in his pocket, you know.
- 27:53Speaker 7: Yeah, I think that, you know for me, and you
- 27:56Speaker 7: know they're they're still building on the offensive line. I
- 27:58Speaker 7: think the left side of the offensive line. That question
- 28:00Speaker 7: is something that we're going to talk about in the
- 28:03Speaker 7: offseason and just the best way to distribute those resources.
- 28:06Speaker 7: Not that Jared Wilson and Will Campbell shouldn't be on
- 28:09Speaker 7: the team or anything like that, but you know where
- 28:12Speaker 7: you go there, But the talent on the outside and
- 28:15Speaker 7: the ability on the outside at receiver. You know, these
- 28:18Speaker 7: teams in the playoffs, you know, Stefon Diggs is getting
- 28:21Speaker 7: game planned out of the passing game. He's getting double teamed,
- 28:24Speaker 7: he's getting bracketed inside, especially on third down.
- 28:29Speaker 2: So who on the outside is going to win a one.
- 28:31Speaker 7: On one matchup that you know is able to kind
- 28:35Speaker 7: of cover up for the fact that Diggs is getting doubled.
- 28:37Speaker 7: So if he's you know, if they continue with Diggs
- 28:40Speaker 7: like next year, is there somebody that you can get
- 28:43Speaker 7: to play opposite of him that can kind of take
- 28:45Speaker 7: some of that pressure off because unfortunately, you know, without him,
- 28:49Speaker 7: especially on third down there, third down efficiency has just
- 28:52Speaker 7: kind of cratered in the playoffs, and that's why they
- 28:54Speaker 7: can't stay on the field. So I know we're gonna
- 28:56Speaker 7: probably have a lot of conversations about.
- 28:58Speaker 2: You know, a J.
- 28:59Speaker 7: Brown and like said, people Milk, I don't know, that's
- 29:03Speaker 7: that's for another time, but that's what I.
- 29:06Speaker 2: Was game to Evan's point, which that play, I mean,
- 29:09Speaker 2: I mean, that was a blink away from a pick six. Yeah, yeah, game,
- 29:14Speaker 2: Digs saved it. Diggs.
- 29:15Speaker 7: Digs played defense and.
- 29:17Speaker 2: He did, he did, and he broke on that ball.
- 29:19Speaker 2: And just to illustrate Evan's point about the amount of people,
- 29:23Speaker 2: there were like three people around him on that.
- 29:25Speaker 7: Yeah, it was a little match coverage. And so he
- 29:27Speaker 7: just kind of fell off Hunter Henry and and became
- 29:29Speaker 7: a free player and just jumped the route to Digs.
- 29:32Speaker 7: And you know, I think that when you look at
- 29:34Speaker 7: their tape on offense, it's hard to kind of pinpoint
- 29:36Speaker 7: one thing, Like sometimes Drake's a little bit off, you know,
- 29:39Speaker 7: I thought he missed them throws in this game.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Sometimes.
- 29:43Speaker 7: Yeah, sometimes the protection was you know, didn't hold up.
- 29:47Speaker 7: Sometimes the receivers aren't getting open. So it's like kind
- 29:51Speaker 7: of a combination of all the above right now. Uh,
- 29:54Speaker 7: And Paul said it like they do not have a
- 29:56Speaker 7: chance against Seattle unless they score.
- 29:58Speaker 2: That's that's it.
- 29:59Speaker 1: It's the same way I saw it. And that's why
- 30:01Speaker 1: I just go back to how do you get the
- 30:02Speaker 1: confidence back and just get the whole machine rolling again.
- 30:05Speaker 2: With good weather?
- 30:05Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you know where Drake had that, I felt
- 30:08Speaker 1: similarly about Pop, Like, I mean, I know Alana the
- 30:11Speaker 1: was it the whole shot that we missed him? I
- 30:12Speaker 1: mean he's shorter, it's and I saw it again.
- 30:15Speaker 2: It's difficulty on that play.
- 30:18Speaker 7: And initially the second, but he's late, like you know,
- 30:21Speaker 7: like that that's a throw I've seen Drake may all season,
- 30:24Speaker 7: but you know there's a stunt up front. Campbell actually
- 30:27Speaker 7: picked it up and did a really nice job picking
- 30:29Speaker 7: it up. But it's just that little bit he moved
- 30:32Speaker 7: a little bit from his you know, left to his
- 30:34Speaker 7: right to kind of like buy himself a little extra second.
- 30:37Speaker 2: And by the time he threw it to Pop, Pop.
- 30:39Speaker 7: Is already you know, at the landmark instead of him
- 30:41Speaker 7: throwing with anticipation to the spot. And so like, there's
- 30:44Speaker 7: just these little things that happen, you know with it.
- 30:47Speaker 7: It's really like I I wish I could say it's
- 30:49Speaker 7: this one thing that they need to fix, but it's
- 30:51Speaker 7: really all of it.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I ask you guys, just a quick side question,
- 30:54Speaker 1: real quick, any idea what happened to is Spayne? It
- 30:56Speaker 1: looked to me like you got stepped on. I don't
- 30:57Speaker 1: know if you have any.
- 30:59Speaker 7: His ankle again, I think it was the same ankle.
- 31:02Speaker 2: They listed at ankle I didn't know if you guys
- 31:04Speaker 2: had any updates.
- 31:06Speaker 3: Yeah, the way he punched the ground, I figured it
- 31:08Speaker 3: was something reoccurring. So it was either the ankle or
- 31:11Speaker 3: the thumb, and it turns out it was you know,
- 31:14Speaker 3: foot area. But like we saw him on the sideline afterwards,
- 31:17Speaker 3: he looked like he wanted to come back in, but
- 31:20Speaker 3: he had his helmet on. But I think it was wise.
- 31:22Speaker 3: Don't put him in until we are desperate. And they
- 31:25Speaker 3: never really got desperate on defense, you know.
- 31:28Speaker 2: Like defense was great again. Absolutely, I knew.
- 31:30Speaker 1: I knew we might be in trouble because I saw
- 31:32Speaker 1: like Gibbons coming on and I saw Spallane be.
- 31:34Speaker 3: Like when he left, when he left the house for that,
- 31:41Speaker 3: he said to his wife about the kids, feed them good.
- 31:46Speaker 1: I know it's a newborn. Of course I'm gonna feed it.
- 31:50Speaker 3: So uh yeah, so so wild game.
- 31:55Speaker 2: We haven't even talked about the you know, the biggest
- 31:57Speaker 2: play of the game is Christian Ellis like, yeah, you
- 32:02Speaker 2: want to know why I was so confident, Fred, Yeah,
- 32:05Speaker 2: that's why I was so confident. Something like this. There's
- 32:07Speaker 2: a reason why a guy hasn't been able to play
- 32:09Speaker 2: in seven years. Yeah, plays like.
- 32:10Speaker 7: That, It was that was the one time where he
- 32:12Speaker 7: went full panic.
- 32:14Speaker 2: Oh it wasn't the one time. It was that was
- 32:16Speaker 2: the disastrous one. Yeah, but he ran backwards more than
- 32:19Speaker 2: he ran forward in that.
- 32:20Speaker 7: But that was like just I don't you're not supposed
- 32:23Speaker 7: to look like that as a quarterback, Like the just
- 32:26Speaker 7: the tiptoes that he was. I don't even know how
- 32:28Speaker 7: to describe it. But yeah, they they sent an overload
- 32:31Speaker 7: on the right side and it got home. Man Like
- 32:33Speaker 7: it was two guys just unblocked to the quarterback that
- 32:36Speaker 7: Hawkins and Ellis were both coming after him, and they
- 32:40Speaker 7: played man to man behind it. There was nobody, There's
- 32:42Speaker 7: no outlet, they had no no options.
- 32:44Speaker 2: It would have been really interesting to see if that
- 32:46Speaker 2: didn't happen and it was just you know, so no
- 32:49Speaker 2: turnovers and you just play the game back and forth,
- 32:53Speaker 2: how it would have unfolded, because the Patriots would have
- 32:55Speaker 2: had to have been more aggressive in the second half
- 32:59Speaker 2: because they would have been still trailing, you know, it
- 33:01Speaker 2: would have been seven to three. And I think it
- 33:04Speaker 2: would have been interesting to see if and when Rabel
- 33:07Speaker 2: went to Josh McDaniels, because clearly there was an edict,
- 33:10Speaker 2: we're gonna punt after every one of these possessions. At worst,
- 33:13Speaker 2: you know, we're not gonna put the one drive like
- 33:17Speaker 2: I think they intentionally just threw an incomplete pass like
- 33:20Speaker 2: they were hoping Booty popped open and if he was
- 33:22Speaker 2: like a one man route, maybe two. I don't know.
- 33:24Speaker 2: Evan probably saw that play, you know, in greater detail
- 33:27Speaker 2: than I remember it, but you know they had Booty covered.
- 33:30Speaker 2: He just threw it away. Well, put broadcast, We're going
- 33:33Speaker 2: to punt yep. That was it. So one minor thing
- 33:37Speaker 2: that is, because you know me, I can't go through
- 33:39Speaker 2: these games without being irritated with the narratives. Sure, so,
- 33:42Speaker 2: Sean Payton, I think terrible, Like to not kick that
- 33:45Speaker 2: field goal was terrible. I think he deserves some criticism
- 33:48Speaker 2: for that, and he's gotten it. But the amount of
- 33:52Speaker 2: credit that Rabel's getting for not doing what Sean Payton did,
- 33:56Speaker 2: I think is way overblown. Just in terms of game decisions.
- 34:00Speaker 2: He did the same thing. He went for fourth and
- 34:02Speaker 2: one on a chip shot field goal where the field
- 34:05Speaker 2: goal was all you needed, right, and they got it barely.
- 34:09Speaker 2: I'm not even going to talk about that. Yeah, although
- 34:11Speaker 2: I can. Can I just tell you that my one
- 34:13Speaker 2: request for a guest next week is Mike Pereira, who
- 34:16Speaker 2: always makes the rounds. Okay, I would love to just
- 34:19Speaker 2: pick his brain about some of these kinds of things.
- 34:21Speaker 2: I don't see. I don't even think he got to
- 34:23Speaker 2: the line of scrimmage overhead and shot. It didn't look
- 34:27Speaker 2: like he did. But regardless, it's not outcome based, it's
- 34:31Speaker 2: decision based. You're killing Sean Payton for not taking a
- 34:35Speaker 2: two school lead because of the game that was in
- 34:37Speaker 2: and when you're declaring, and now you're praising Mike Rabel
- 34:40Speaker 2: for going for it on fourth in inches because they
- 34:42Speaker 2: got it. They almost cost themselves the go ahead points
- 34:46Speaker 2: and they ended up getting three anyway because they got stopped.
- 34:49Speaker 2: But I thought that was kind of we're overlooking it
- 34:52Speaker 2: because he got it kind of thing. And the second
- 34:55Speaker 2: thing was that that possession that they took over at
- 34:57Speaker 2: their aid, and I understand, you can't turn it over,
- 35:00Speaker 2: don't give him seven on an easy swing, but obviously
- 35:05Speaker 2: it gets started back because that's the first play, was
- 35:07Speaker 2: the one that Stevenson slips, then May slips, they lose
- 35:11Speaker 2: four yards, so now you're really backed up. I agree
- 35:14Speaker 2: with running it. I would have run it again, because
- 35:17Speaker 2: I think that might have given you a chance. But
- 35:20Speaker 2: to just say we're not interested in getting the first
- 35:22Speaker 2: down here, we're just gonna punt it away and give
- 35:24Speaker 2: them the ball and field goal range. We're praising that. Yeah,
- 35:27Speaker 2: like you knew you were going to block the field goal.
- 35:29Speaker 2: You knew they were going to only line up seven
- 35:30Speaker 2: yards behind the line instead of eight to kick the
- 35:32Speaker 2: field goal, and the Leonard Taylor was going to block it. Like,
- 35:35Speaker 2: I think there's too much praise for playing the game
- 35:40Speaker 2: out right, you know. Again, I don't think there's too
- 35:42Speaker 2: much blame for Sean Payton. I think that was a
- 35:44Speaker 2: horrific decision. I said it at the time Live. You go,
- 35:48Speaker 2: you go up two scores with your backup quarterback, that's
- 35:50Speaker 2: unbelievable confidence. So now Jared Stidham has been on the
- 35:55Speaker 2: field three times and he's led two scoring drives, or
- 35:59Speaker 2: maybe four times. At that time, it would have been
- 36:01Speaker 2: two out of the four drives with scoring drives, you know.
- 36:04Speaker 2: So you lose that three points and then your field
- 36:06Speaker 2: goal kicker missus two field goals. They could have scored
- 36:08Speaker 2: sixteen points. That's all you could have asked for from
- 36:10Speaker 2: your backup quarterback, but Sean Payton didn't really put him
- 36:14Speaker 2: in a position to do that. Yeah. So, you know,
- 36:16Speaker 2: speaking of guys disagree with the rabel stuff, Oh well,
- 36:18Speaker 2: I was because I'm certainly here for those are kinds
- 36:21Speaker 2: of discussions I like to have.
- 36:22Speaker 7: Yeah, So the third down the backed up driver talking about,
- 36:26Speaker 7: he rolls them out to his right and there's two
- 36:29Speaker 7: routes over there, and one of them I thought was
- 36:31Speaker 7: kind of open in the middle of the field. But
- 36:33Speaker 7: my guess is they were like, if it's not wide open,
- 36:35Speaker 7: you're throwing this into the tenth row, you know. So
- 36:38Speaker 7: Drake May in week seven like probably tries to thread
- 36:41Speaker 7: the needle there and throw that to the receiver over
- 36:43Speaker 7: the middle of the field. Drake May and the AFC
- 36:46Speaker 7: Championship game in the blizzard just throws it into the
- 36:49Speaker 7: tenth row. So I would just say that. But I
- 36:52Speaker 7: understand what you're saying about the fourth down decisions, and
- 36:55Speaker 7: I think the only difference is maybe like the way
- 36:57Speaker 7: people look at it is like, you know, a lot
- 36:59Speaker 7: of coach would have gone for it on fourth and goal,
- 37:02Speaker 7: you know, and tried to score a touchdown there instead
- 37:04Speaker 7: of just kicking that chip shot field goal that ended
- 37:06Speaker 7: up winning the game, So maybe that's where the Vrabel
- 37:09Speaker 7: things coming from. There's also a lot of praise for
- 37:11Speaker 7: the fact that they uh the substitutions by the Broncos
- 37:15Speaker 7: at the end of the game that Rabel just kept on,
- 37:17Speaker 7: you know, holding up the play by substituting his guys
- 37:21Speaker 7: with the ref standing over the ball took about a
- 37:23Speaker 7: minute off the clock.
- 37:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't think that was really I didn't think that.
- 37:26Speaker 2: I heard a lot of people talking about that. I
- 37:28Speaker 2: didn't think that really impacted that, you know much. They
- 37:30Speaker 2: were talking about the play clock. They didn't run out
- 37:33Speaker 2: of time, They just couldn't move the ball Denver like
- 37:37Speaker 2: they had the ball, Like what wasdale It was like
- 37:39Speaker 2: over two minutes left when they had the ball at
- 37:41Speaker 2: the end of the game when he threw the pick,
- 37:42Speaker 2: that was still it was before the two minute warning,
- 37:44Speaker 2: right you know, Oh yeah, yeah, it pick that. I
- 37:48Speaker 2: thought there was too much given, too much attention on
- 37:51Speaker 2: that kind of stuff. Where where I thought that was
- 37:53Speaker 2: really valuable was the Chargers game. Yeah, the Chargers kept
- 37:56Speaker 2: doing it and they're chasing two scores in the fourth
- 37:58Speaker 2: quarter and they were losingable time because you want to
- 38:02Speaker 2: you're going to change personnel. Want a two minute drill? Okay,
- 38:05Speaker 2: hold on a second Christian over here?
- 38:08Speaker 3: Yeah, right right, all right, I'm not.
- 38:11Speaker 2: Able to put a master class on for the Chargers
- 38:14Speaker 2: game in that regard.
- 38:16Speaker 1: How are you guys feel when sid him hit that bomb?
- 38:18Speaker 4: Though?
- 38:18Speaker 1: To open it up?
- 38:19Speaker 2: There was that quarters?
- 38:21Speaker 1: Was that where I.
- 38:22Speaker 3: Was like, this is that's the one a handoff that
- 38:25Speaker 3: didn't happen, right Like in terms of the defense that
- 38:29Speaker 3: was going to be.
- 38:31Speaker 2: He just got Yeah, you don't think was supposed to be?
- 38:34Speaker 7: Hawkins is he's poaching and that this is a technical thing.
- 38:38Speaker 7: So his eyes are actually to the other side of
- 38:40Speaker 7: the formation, Hawkins because he's trying to when they run
- 38:43Speaker 7: crossers from three by one, he's supposed to take the
- 38:45Speaker 7: crossing route from the other side of the formation, So
- 38:47Speaker 7: he's actually peeking to the other side of the field
- 38:50Speaker 7: and he's he's going to poach. So it's a technique.
- 38:52Speaker 7: Uh so it's uh, you know, palms, it's fangio stuff.
- 38:56Speaker 7: But yeah, they're playing straight quarters and on the back
- 38:58Speaker 7: side of that, he's just one on one with the
- 39:00Speaker 7: receiver and I Mims.
- 39:02Speaker 2: A fast guy. He let him go. I mean there's
- 39:04Speaker 2: no question he throttled down. And yeah, he didn't think
- 39:07Speaker 2: he was great. I thought he looked at Hawkins like
- 39:09Speaker 2: I thought you had.
- 39:09Speaker 3: Them there was, I said, but that was a tie
- 39:13Speaker 3: low special.
- 39:14Speaker 2: He made sure everybody in the stadium knew he was
- 39:16Speaker 2: expecting help on the safe.
- 39:18Speaker 7: I mean, maybe they just got maybe they got the
- 39:20Speaker 7: call mixed up. But like Hawkins, his eyes are on
- 39:24Speaker 7: the other side of the field.
- 39:25Speaker 2: I'll say this for you, Ev the play before the
- 39:28Speaker 2: game ceiling pick for Gonzo Mims ran by him then too,
- 39:32Speaker 2: and for whatever reason, as I said in the post game,
- 39:35Speaker 2: no I know, the reason Jared did him is not good.
- 39:37Speaker 2: Well it was he didn't. He didn't. He didn't throw it,
- 39:39Speaker 2: but you gotta throw it. The next plane threw it
- 39:41Speaker 2: when he was covered, and what happened the ball hung
- 39:44Speaker 2: up in the air, and that was that was bad.
- 39:47Speaker 2: I mean, I'm not blaming that on the on the web.
- 39:49Speaker 2: I'm not I'm not blaming that on the weather. I
- 39:50Speaker 2: think that was quarterback in competence. Well, go ahead.
- 39:54Speaker 1: I was just saying one more thing to highlight. Was
- 39:55Speaker 1: just the only real drive they had of the day
- 39:57Speaker 1: was just out of the half, and I mean it
- 39:59Speaker 1: was how long was it not and a half minute?
- 40:00Speaker 2: That was a really good I mean that, you know,
- 40:02Speaker 2: that was a.
- 40:03Speaker 1: Huge part of this game too.
- 40:04Speaker 2: Yeah, it was track May just running.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Oh yeah, oh yeah, no, I mean I'm not saying
- 40:10Speaker 1: what the style points were, but you possessed the ball
- 40:12Speaker 1: for nine and a half minutes of the second half,
- 40:13Speaker 1: right out of the gate, right and get ben.
- 40:16Speaker 7: They got their two biggest plays of the game in
- 40:18Speaker 7: the driver is twenty eight yard scramble thirty one yard
- 40:21Speaker 7: or uh to mac?
- 40:22Speaker 2: Is that on that drive? The thirty one yard I
- 40:24Speaker 2: thought that was a drive that they didn't score. Flicker.
- 40:27Speaker 7: Oh yeah, you're right, scramble twenty eight yard scramble. That
- 40:31Speaker 7: flee flicker was the next drive. I think the uh
- 40:34Speaker 7: you know, the scramble one though, is a good example.
- 40:37Speaker 7: You know, they play they played man to man and
- 40:39Speaker 7: they they double digs in the slot with the safety
- 40:42Speaker 7: and it just it just opened up like it left
- 40:44Speaker 7: nobody there at the second or or third level to
- 40:47Speaker 7: have eyes on the in the backfield on the quarterback.
- 40:49Speaker 7: And he made a nice little move to get around
- 40:51Speaker 7: the safety there in the open field, which made it
- 40:53Speaker 7: like turn it from like a twelve yard run into
- 40:55Speaker 7: an explosive So yeah, it was good running.
- 40:57Speaker 3: I love that last play though the boot made to
- 41:00Speaker 3: get that was great.
- 41:02Speaker 1: Was your butthole as puckered as my?
- 41:05Speaker 2: Yeah, just nervous fans like that game as soon as
- 41:08Speaker 2: they saw as soon as I saw it turn like
- 41:12Speaker 2: he had the whole field. They had one guy to beat,
- 41:14Speaker 2: and that guy.
- 41:14Speaker 1: I want to close it out.
- 41:16Speaker 7: The best part of that play is this is the
- 41:19Speaker 7: the sideline shot on the film is Josh McDaniels and
- 41:23Speaker 7: Mike Rabel hugging it out. They're they're like going crazy,
- 41:25Speaker 7: They're hugging it out. And then unfortunately Jonah Ellis and Christian.
- 41:29Speaker 2: Ellis also cool.
- 41:32Speaker 7: Yeah, that was because Jonah Alice was the guy. He
- 41:35Speaker 7: couldn't get Drake down, and and it was Mike.
- 41:38Speaker 2: Who called the play. Paul called out, Yeah, I saw this,
- 41:45Speaker 2: screamed of it, and I think they knew what was coming.
- 41:47Speaker 2: I just think that Ellis just wasn't quite fast enough
- 41:49Speaker 2: to get My only concern on that play was that
- 41:51Speaker 2: Ellis was going to get there in time to not
- 41:53Speaker 2: only stop because I didn't care if he stopped them,
- 41:56Speaker 2: because they weren't scoring. They could have given them the
- 41:58Speaker 2: ball right there and said score. They weren't scoring, but
- 42:02Speaker 2: I was worried that he was going to get knocked
- 42:03Speaker 2: out of bounds short of the first down. Oh yeah,
- 42:06Speaker 2: so now.
- 42:07Speaker 1: Stuff TV Where the out of bound markers were, there
- 42:11Speaker 1: was a couple.
- 42:11Speaker 2: I think I wasn't even sure he got to first
- 42:13Speaker 2: out so hard to see. He looks like he's two
- 42:16Speaker 2: feet beyond it. There was a play in the first
- 42:18Speaker 2: I think in the first half with the Broncos running
- 42:21Speaker 2: back went out like way beyond it and it was
- 42:23Speaker 2: like second and one. I was like, wait, wait, watch,
- 42:26Speaker 2: like you just couldn't see stuff. It was so weird.
- 42:29Speaker 2: It was a weird view of visual I heard a very.
- 42:32Speaker 7: Bond Ei this morning kind of downplayed that. Did he
- 42:34Speaker 7: call his own number? Yeah, I kind of thought he did,
- 42:39Speaker 7: like looking at it, because on a true naked like
- 42:42Speaker 7: Matt Collins is getting his ass out of there to
- 42:44Speaker 7: try to get on the other side of the field
- 42:46Speaker 7: to get the corner to go with him, and Matt
- 42:48Speaker 7: Collins just kind of like went to go block the corner,
- 42:51Speaker 7: which like usually is what you would do if it
- 42:52Speaker 7: was just a traditional run play. So I don't know
- 42:55Speaker 7: if like Josh McDaniel said to him, Hey, like if
- 42:57Speaker 7: you if you sense it, if you feel it, like
- 43:00Speaker 7: just go for it or what. But I don't think
- 43:02Speaker 7: everybody on the field knew that he was going to keep.
- 43:04Speaker 2: It build Steve Grogan special. All right, you should do
- 43:07Speaker 2: that all the time.
- 43:08Speaker 3: A couple other things I want to put on the
- 43:09Speaker 3: table before we open it up to the listeners is
- 43:11Speaker 3: one that this game did nothing to silence the doubters
- 43:16Speaker 3: and the haters. They're more ferocious than ever, that we're
- 43:22Speaker 3: just a lucky team, and the weather and and all
- 43:25Speaker 3: that stuff, and bow Nick's being hurt, so we still
- 43:29Speaker 3: haven't proven anything to them, so I don't know what
- 43:31Speaker 3: it's going to take.
- 43:33Speaker 2: And then the second thing is I forgot amazing anyway
- 43:42Speaker 2: because you have so many you have so many squabble, Yeah, like.
- 43:46Speaker 1: A lot of fires. Fread's fighting right now.
- 43:48Speaker 2: I'm sure. Yeah.
- 43:49Speaker 3: It was less to do with the game and something else.
- 43:52Speaker 3: Oh now, I remember on Paul's show, one of Paul's
- 43:56Speaker 3: shows this morning, doctor Chow, Oh yeah, yeah, saying that
- 44:00Speaker 3: there possibly could be something we're going on with Drake
- 44:04Speaker 3: May's right shoulder.
- 44:05Speaker 1: Yeah, they were grilling Rable about it. This morning at
- 44:07Speaker 1: the press vale and I don't know he played coy.
- 44:10Speaker 1: He didn't really talk about it at all, But yeah,
- 44:12Speaker 1: I had no I did you guys have any feelings.
- 44:15Speaker 3: I was in the room with him when he came
- 44:16Speaker 3: out for the press conference. He was in a white
- 44:18Speaker 3: T shirt. I didn't see any blood, No, but he was.
- 44:21Speaker 1: His arm like that.
- 44:22Speaker 3: Yeah, he didn't seem to be favoring it or anything
- 44:24Speaker 3: like that. Somebody mentioned that when he went to knock
- 44:27Speaker 3: on wood he used his left hand instead of his
- 44:30Speaker 3: right hand.
- 44:31Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 44:31Speaker 3: I didn't well he sized the video.
- 44:34Speaker 2: Someone said, I don't know any of his stuff, but
- 44:36Speaker 2: someone said that he also he did everything favoring whatever.
- 44:39Speaker 2: The injured shoulder was held, the trophy, hugged and Michael,
- 44:44Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 44:45Speaker 1: I was like one person caught one thing on camera
- 44:49Speaker 1: and now it's possible, like.
- 44:51Speaker 2: If you look at them, to be honest with you,
- 44:53Speaker 2: I thought he hurt his knee. It's at one point
- 44:55Speaker 2: in the game on one of those sacks, they looked
- 44:57Speaker 2: like his knee was bugging him.
- 44:58Speaker 3: But as Mike's said, who's healthy. Yeah, but at this
- 45:02Speaker 3: time on the play that child points out he does
- 45:04Speaker 3: land on his side and the shoulder kind of like
- 45:07Speaker 3: gets stretched in, so you know, maybe it's strained a
- 45:10Speaker 3: little bit, a little sore, but he's got some time
- 45:13Speaker 3: to work that out.
- 45:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:14Speaker 7: I don't really care for this whole thing personally, Like
- 45:19Speaker 7: if you have if you have a scoop, then report it, right, Like,
- 45:22Speaker 7: if there's an injury, then go out and report it.
- 45:26Speaker 7: You like the brutal filming a play and claiming that
- 45:30Speaker 7: you see an injury, Like I'm not a doctor.
- 45:33Speaker 2: He's a doctor.
- 45:34Speaker 7: That's fine, but it's just it's it's dangerous, honestly, it's
- 45:38Speaker 7: it's you know, to put that out there without having
- 45:40Speaker 7: any He wasn't reported with an injury.
- 45:44Speaker 2: The team didn't report an injury during the game. Uh,
- 45:47Speaker 2: there was no reporting after the game. Eventually probably draft
- 45:51Speaker 2: pick for that any sort of injury.
- 45:53Speaker 7: Uh so you know, all like I just wouldn't panic,
- 45:56Speaker 7: like this is you know, he is funny, guys.
- 45:58Speaker 2: I don't think there's anything worth panicking.
- 46:00Speaker 7: It's an opinion, though it's not an opinion that's based
- 46:02Speaker 7: on any hard evidence.
- 46:04Speaker 2: I'm with you.
- 46:05Speaker 1: I can I ask you guys, how the Saturday night
- 46:07Speaker 1: rally and stuff was with you know, before that night.
- 46:10Speaker 3: I didn't even get there, and no, I didn't get
- 46:11Speaker 3: to go our plan, did Kim and Lane?
- 46:13Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 46:14Speaker 2: Yeah, but I saw pictures that was packed.
- 46:17Speaker 7: It was pat I think I said, like eighteen people.
- 46:20Speaker 2: I mean it looked I saw some shots on the
- 46:23Speaker 2: news and it looked like a very big crowd. Yeah,

- 48:26Speaker 11: snow real quick here before so if I'm going to
- 48:32Speaker 11: give you a minute to think of a question. But
- 48:34Speaker 11: I just want to thank a lot of people here
- 48:36Speaker 11: for for helping us get here, obviously Robert and Jonathan
- 48:40Speaker 11: for the support that they showed us from the time
- 48:42Speaker 11: that I got here through free agency. And you know,
- 48:46Speaker 11: we're excited to finish up this chapter here and move
- 48:49Speaker 11: into a new building. And you know, just have a
- 48:51Speaker 11: lot of excitement there, you know, as we get back,
- 48:56Speaker 11: just the Foxborough Fire Department. You know, these guys all
- 49:00Speaker 11: jacked up on top of their trucks, and the excitement there.
- 49:04Speaker 4: I mean, just look at our parking attendants.
- 49:06Speaker 11: I mean, we came back and there's a bunch of
- 49:08Speaker 11: snow and our you know, we're worried about starting our
- 49:10Speaker 11: cars and getting everything cleaned off, and our cars are
- 49:13Speaker 11: cleaned off and and I can't thank those people enough
- 49:17Speaker 11: for what they do.
- 49:18Speaker 4: Our staff to.
- 49:19Speaker 11: Get our coaches prepare, our coaches, to get our players prepared,
- 49:22Speaker 11: or training room, just everybody involved with this thing. But
- 49:26Speaker 11: obviously the players that thank them, and I know that
- 49:30Speaker 11: they're excited, you know, to get us to get us
- 49:35Speaker 11: this next uh, this next game, and just the work
- 49:39Speaker 11: that they're going to put in here this week. I
- 49:40Speaker 11: think we have a good plan form, we're excited about it,
- 49:43Speaker 11: and it'll be a huge challenge and it'll be a
- 49:45Speaker 11: huge test.
- 49:46Speaker 2: So what do you got So just I know the
- 49:49Speaker 2: radio you've asked during the shoulder and jury. I'm just curious.
- 49:53Speaker 2: Is that kind of something that's been maybe blown a
- 49:55Speaker 2: little bit out of the.
- 49:55Speaker 11: Portion on social probably, And here's what I'm gonna start
- 49:57Speaker 11: saying about this radio show. This is like the Miranda rights.
- 50:01Speaker 11: I can't there's nothing that I can say on there
- 50:03Speaker 11: that can be used against me when I come back
- 50:06Speaker 11: in here. So going forward that that's what we're gonna
- 50:10Speaker 11: have to say. Like that's those are like free interviews.
- 50:13Speaker 4: I'm in there. We're doing breakfast shots and uh, you know, but.
- 50:17Speaker 11: I think that everybody and including Drake, is not one
- 50:21Speaker 11: hundred percent at this part of the year, and you know,
- 50:24Speaker 11: we'll do everything that we can to help our players
- 50:26Speaker 11: be prepared and get ready for this game.
- 50:29Speaker 2: Like what's your week like with the players, what do
- 50:32Speaker 2: you want from them? And what's the experience.
- 50:35Speaker 4: Yeah, we have to get healthy. You know what I mean,
- 50:37Speaker 4: we have to get healthy, you know.
- 50:40Speaker 11: Staying the day I think helped us get a little
- 50:42Speaker 11: bit of rest, so we didn't get back late, try
- 50:44Speaker 11: to sleep on a plane.
- 50:47Speaker 4: We'll get moving around.
- 50:48Speaker 11: Tomorrow, they'll they'll lift and run and work out, you know,
- 50:53Speaker 11: Tomorrow do some light football drills. The players will run those,
- 50:58Speaker 11: I'll run the conditioning things like that, and then we'll
- 51:03Speaker 11: practice Thursday and Friday. Give an opportunity to you know,
- 51:08Speaker 11: take a day off on Sunday or Saturday, and then
- 51:11Speaker 11: and then travel Sunday, get some movement in probably a
- 51:14Speaker 11: light movement back in the in the weight room before
- 51:17Speaker 11: we travel, and then Monday will be like a bonus
- 51:20Speaker 11: day which we've used for coming off of a bye
- 51:22Speaker 11: week to kind of do some drills and some you know,
- 51:28Speaker 11: just some movement. And then Tuesday off, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday,
- 51:33Speaker 11: just try to keep it like a like a normal week.
- 51:35Speaker 2: Like I don't know if you even asked this directly,
- 51:38Speaker 2: hurt d Drake, hurt your shoulder on Sunday?
- 51:41Speaker 11: Uh No, I won't say that anybody hurt anything, you
- 51:45Speaker 11: know what I mean.
- 51:46Speaker 4: Again, this is a.
- 51:48Speaker 11: This is a sport where there's going to be things
- 51:50Speaker 11: that come up, But I don't think that there's a
- 51:51Speaker 11: you know, we'll talk about whatever status each player has
- 51:56Speaker 11: for the game once we're required to. We understand that.
- 52:00Speaker 11: But you know, we were able to function offensively, throw
- 52:03Speaker 11: the football, run the football.
- 52:07Speaker 4: So that's kind of where everybody's at.
- 52:09Speaker 2: When does the game plan get installed and presented to
- 52:14Speaker 2: the players?
- 52:15Speaker 11: Yeah, I mean I think that that's something that happens
- 52:20Speaker 11: this week, that's something that happens next week.
- 52:22Speaker 4: I think there's a lot of preparation.
- 52:23Speaker 11: I think you want to try to avoid too doing
- 52:26Speaker 11: too much too early, and then also how do you
- 52:30Speaker 11: how do you keep their attention next week and focused
- 52:33Speaker 11: and locked in? So I think we have a good balance.
- 52:37Speaker 11: Coaches have been a good resource. Josh Josh has been
- 52:39Speaker 11: a good resource. Obviously, he's he's coached in these with
- 52:44Speaker 11: with the extended break, So there's just trying to find
- 52:47Speaker 11: that sweet spot of doing enough.
- 52:50Speaker 4: Here, but then also you know, still.
- 52:53Speaker 11: Having stuff out there that that will keep them engaged.
- 52:57Speaker 10: What do you.
- 52:57Speaker 2: Distract with built in Williams has got to help.
- 53:02Speaker 11: Well, again, there's a consistency there and uh, he's a
- 53:07Speaker 11: tireless worker. He worked hard, he was here in the
- 53:09Speaker 11: off season. I think that makes a difference. And then
- 53:14Speaker 11: obviously just the the disruption. And I know everybody that
- 53:19Speaker 11: rushes the passer, you know, they they strive for sacks,
- 53:23Speaker 11: and certainly our ability to affect the quarterback.
- 53:25Speaker 4: Goes well with well, well beyond the sack numbers.
- 53:30Speaker 11: You can get a sack the guy, you know, I mean,
- 53:31Speaker 11: Ganzo got a sack, the quarterback ran out out of bounds,
- 53:36Speaker 11: and so if you just look at that, it can
- 53:38Speaker 11: be somewhat misleading. But he certainly has brought some disruption.
- 53:43Speaker 11: We talked about that after the Houston game, when we
- 53:46Speaker 11: talked about that yesterday or a few days ago here
- 53:49Speaker 11: about the disruption. And I think he has improved some
- 53:52Speaker 11: of his technique in the run game and things that
- 53:54Speaker 11: we've talked about, and and he's consciously tried to work
- 53:57Speaker 11: on that, and I appreciate.
- 53:59Speaker 1: That when he signs a big contract. I'm sure there's
- 54:03Speaker 1: part of your research that says, we want to make
- 54:05Speaker 1: sure that whenever we get money like that, that's someone
- 54:08Speaker 1: that they don't change as a result of that money.
- 54:11Speaker 1: How did you, how did you what gave you the
- 54:13Speaker 1: assurance that he was going to.
- 54:14Speaker 11: Have They haven't done a lot of work with him
- 54:17Speaker 11: coming out and just knowing who he is as a person.
- 54:20Speaker 11: But all his family and I think his parents have
- 54:26Speaker 11: been fantastic raising him and his sisters.
- 54:30Speaker 4: And you know, when you have good bones, you know,
- 54:35Speaker 4: I mean they you could survive a lot.
- 54:38Speaker 11: And so there's you know, for a young player to
- 54:40Speaker 11: come into a lot of money like that, you know,
- 54:43Speaker 11: it is important that they remain grounded and they remain
- 54:48Speaker 11: hungry and want to continue to work. And I know
- 54:50Speaker 11: that his parents and his family have a lot.
- 54:52Speaker 4: To do with that nation.
- 54:54Speaker 5: When the Super Bowl land went, feel.
- 54:55Speaker 4: Like I haven't thought about that one time.
- 55:01Speaker 2: This very efficient passing the ball in the regular season
- 55:04Speaker 2: over the last three weeks, how much they passing output,
- 55:07Speaker 2: reflection of the defenses in the pass rushes.
- 55:09Speaker 11: Again, Yeah, I think that that's all combination. I think
- 55:12Speaker 11: it all goes into it. And you know, just the
- 55:16Speaker 11: defenses in general, not just the pass rush. And again
- 55:20Speaker 11: a lot of that stuff is you know, we'll have
- 55:23Speaker 11: to be better. We'll have to be better. We'll have
- 55:25Speaker 11: to play one of our best games, if not our
- 55:27Speaker 11: best game against Seattle to stay balanced, to run the football,
- 55:33Speaker 11: to to use all our complementary passing game and not
- 55:37Speaker 11: just turn it into a drop.
- 55:38Speaker 4: Back passing game.
- 55:39Speaker 11: Is that is Uh, that's a tough way to live
- 55:42Speaker 11: in this league, especially with the with the players that
- 55:45Speaker 11: they have, the games they're probably the best in the
- 55:47Speaker 11: National Football League, and running games up front and creating
- 55:50Speaker 11: pressure and they work very well together. It's something that
- 55:54Speaker 11: we show our guys every week. So I know that
- 55:56Speaker 11: that's that'll be a big key in this game, is
- 55:58Speaker 11: being able to block those guys up front and a
- 56:00Speaker 11: lot of guys with ball production on the back end.
- 56:03Speaker 11: I mean, Ernest Jones has five interceptions, Kobe Bryant's got four.
- 56:07Speaker 4: A lot of guys get their hands on the football.
- 56:10Speaker 12: Mike, you had a lot of success here as a player.
- 56:14Speaker 12: You're on almost a perfect season, and then the next
- 56:18Speaker 12: there was another generation after that, another successful run with
- 56:21Speaker 12: the same head coach.
- 56:23Speaker 2: Can you talk about.
- 56:24Speaker 12: The dynamic not so much that dynamic between the head
- 56:27Speaker 12: coach and the players, but the way you do things
- 56:31Speaker 12: seems to be a little different, And I'm wondering where
- 56:33Speaker 12: that came from. I know you've talked about you've taken
- 56:36Speaker 12: from other coaches over the years, but is there one
- 56:39Speaker 12: particular coach that has sort of led you to where
- 56:43Speaker 12: you are now, and it seems to be the one
- 56:45Speaker 12: on one relationships you have with players.
- 56:50Speaker 11: I mean, I think you try to have a core
- 56:52Speaker 11: belief in what you do, and I think you try
- 56:55Speaker 11: to be consistent with that. But I think you also
- 56:57Speaker 11: have to be you know, authentic. I mean, they think
- 57:02Speaker 11: they have to see you be upset, be disappointed, be sad,
- 57:08Speaker 11: you know, I mean, share personal experiences just you know, again,
- 57:13Speaker 11: I talk about how much time we spend together, and
- 57:17Speaker 11: so I think it just you know, it goes all
- 57:21Speaker 11: the way back to when you know, I mean, they
- 57:22Speaker 11: don't care how much you know until they know how
- 57:24Speaker 11: much you care.
- 57:25Speaker 4: And so whatever we can.
- 57:26Speaker 11: Do to try to help them off the field grow
- 57:30Speaker 11: as men. I mean, there's a lot of a lot
- 57:32Speaker 11: of great guys in there that are husbands and fathers,
- 57:35Speaker 11: and then they're also great players.
- 57:36Speaker 4: So we just try to build the player the best
- 57:41Speaker 4: that we can.
- 57:43Speaker 12: Sorry, did that come from anywhere?
- 57:44Speaker 8: Though?
- 57:44Speaker 4: Did you A lot of places?
- 57:46Speaker 11: I played at Ohio State, I got drafted by the Steelers,
- 57:48Speaker 11: a great organization came here for eight years, went to
- 57:51Speaker 11: Kansas City, had great coaches there, worked at Ohio State,
- 57:55Speaker 11: worked for Bill O'Brien worked in Tennessee, you know what
- 57:58Speaker 11: I mean. So it's like if you just pay attention focus.
- 58:00Speaker 11: I didn't live my whole life in one place, so
- 58:04Speaker 11: that's all I can tell you. I just try to
- 58:05Speaker 11: be me, and sometimes that's good enough, sometimes it's not.
- 58:08Speaker 11: But I just have try to learn from every person
- 58:11Speaker 11: that every great coach that I've been around, and try
- 58:14Speaker 11: to make my own style.
- 58:16Speaker 13: When you start to prepare for this game, and you
- 58:18Speaker 13: will get samm Darnold, he said a few different stops
- 58:21Speaker 13: around the league. How deep does your staff look in
- 58:24Speaker 13: terms of his film? Is it about this year?
- 58:26Speaker 2: Is it about?
- 58:27Speaker 11: I mean, I we haven't watched every game that they've
- 58:29Speaker 11: played this year yet, so there'll be things that we'll
- 58:34Speaker 11: try to watch and see, and I mean, again it'll
- 58:37Speaker 11: be important that were sound. I mean, he's been very efficient,
- 58:44Speaker 11: and again, everybody's journey is different, and so you give
- 58:47Speaker 11: him a lot of credit for the places that he's
- 58:49Speaker 11: been and how he's learned and grown and certainly making
- 58:53Speaker 11: the most of his opportunity. Now, like you mentioned a
- 58:56Speaker 11: little bit earlier, I felt like you guys had a
- 58:57Speaker 11: good plan in place.
- 58:58Speaker 2: Is the plan for the game already sort of fully
- 59:01Speaker 2: baked by you guys.
- 59:03Speaker 11: No, No, I meant playing as far as schedule logistics,
- 59:09Speaker 11: you know what I mean, trying to get all that
- 59:10Speaker 11: stuff out of the way. We'll work hard today and
- 59:15Speaker 11: tomorrow to continue to work on that and what we
- 59:18Speaker 11: present to the players, and then that will continue to
- 59:22Speaker 11: build as we move on. I know you mentioned them
- 59:25Speaker 11: this morning, but respecting the memoranda rights, just overall thought
- 59:29Speaker 11: on Seattle, just how good of an opponent are I mean,
- 59:32Speaker 11: they're first in the league and scoring on defense, third
- 59:35Speaker 11: on offense, good mix of veterans, good mix of veterans
- 59:42Speaker 11: and and youth. And so anytime that you have defenses
- 59:47Speaker 11: that are good, it's you know, keeping points down. It
- 59:52Speaker 11: makes it real difficult.
- 59:53Speaker 8: So mm hmm.
- 59:55Speaker 11: That they disguise well and they blitz and sometimes they
- 59:59Speaker 11: get pressure with rush and form and they got four
- 1:00:03Speaker 11: or five guys with with six or seven sacks each,
- 1:00:07Speaker 11: and uh, you know, offensively, it's a it's a mix
- 1:00:10Speaker 11: of some of the the West Coast stuff.
- 1:00:13Speaker 4: It's play action.
- 1:00:15Speaker 11: But then you know, just the scheme and Darnold's ability
- 1:00:20Speaker 11: to operate and function and not many people slow down J. S. N.
- 1:00:26Speaker 11: Kenneth Walker is just the speed.
- 1:00:28Speaker 4: He can hit the edge.
- 1:00:29Speaker 11: He not afraid to cut up. They got an excellent
- 1:00:31Speaker 11: special teams unit. That special teams is one of some
- 1:00:35Speaker 11: football games, you know, and that broke it open against
- 1:00:37Speaker 11: Atlanta six to six. I think it's tied at halftime.
- 1:00:40Speaker 11: He takes the opening half kickoff or the second half
- 1:00:43Speaker 11: kickoff to the house. Defense gets a couple of turnovers
- 1:00:47Speaker 11: and then it's a blowout. So we're gonna have to
- 1:00:50Speaker 11: be really good in all phases. And uh, but this
- 1:00:54Speaker 11: is an excellent football team.
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: And now great moments in history.
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: So what quarterback in free agency or the draft can
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: we get to replace Peter Dinklice next year?
- 1:01:11Speaker 6: Oh?
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: Wow, Peter Peter.
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: I don't know, I've never heard that before, but he's
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: sounds funny. He's el Peter Dinklae.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: Okay, and you know what the Game of Thrones theme
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: song is? Oh Peter, sorry.
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: Paul, like what the song? You guys have lost your mind?
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: Now the song doesn't have words, so we just sing
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: because his name sounds like the the So this is adism. Yeah, yeah, okay,
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: that's another great moment from all Right.
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: Well you're back here in patriotsun Filter eight five five
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: Pats five hundred is the hotline podcast at Patriots dot
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: Com is the email address. We're just we're just amazed.
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: We're like flying high right now. So, like a lot
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: of players say, it hasn't hit us yet, oh it's
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: hit me. Yeah, yeah, right between the eyes hit me.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: When the game was over. Like I'm telling you, I
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: never really thought about it until they were there. Yeah.
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: I think there's also an element for me, like working
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: through this the first time is like you just kind
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: of stay on your routine for these three playoff weeks,
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: you know, so you just it's like you're on the
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: treadmill and I know, when you get knocked off the treble,
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: it's must be like, oh my god, the season is over.
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: But at the same time, it just feels like, Nope,
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: we got another week.
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: Just keep going.
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: I think though, with this week having the week off,
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: it'll it'll probably step.
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: So if you're joining us late next week.
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: Patriots Unfiltered live from Media Row in the Convention Center
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: in San Francisco Tuesday through Friday ten to two. You
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: heard me right now ten to two local times Specific time,
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: one to five Eastern time, four hours a day Tuesday
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: through Friday from media row, So it'll be us, it'll
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: be guests. Evan will be coming in after availability. It's
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: going to be a wild week. So I I can't wait.
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: What is media role like? As two young men who've
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: been there before, is what's what's the.
- 1:03:17Speaker 7: And it's pretty crazy. Like you walk around and like
- 1:03:20Speaker 7: you might just like walk right by like I don't know,
- 1:03:23Speaker 7: Jo yeah, you.
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: Know, and as long as you're you know, willing to
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: talk about sketches, he'll talk to you.
- 1:03:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:03:28Speaker 7: But like you could be just like walking from like
- 1:03:30Speaker 7: your you know, to the bathroom and you just will
- 1:03:32Speaker 7: walk by, you know, a NFL Hall of Famer.
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just normal.
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: So it's like all these spaces, so everybody's got like
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: ten by fifteen space, you know, just rows of like
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: different media outlets, and then you have some big stages,
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: you know, like ESPN.
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: It's kind of like the.
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah yeah, and so yeah you so you
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: just do your thing and you have a handler who
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: runs around trying to get you guests. In the case
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: of one of Paul shows ninety eight point five, they'll
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: be there. Mark Capello has been lining up guests for
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: two weeks now because they were going regardless, even if
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: the Patriots lost, they were going to be there anyway.
- 1:04:12Speaker 3: And he's an old pro, so he's been lining up
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: his guests, so they'll have a constant stream of guests.
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: And you know, we'll feed off of that.
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: Yeah, and we're gonna have like a backdrop or something
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: and people know, hey, I just I just signed a
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: I just signed a thing to get that done. That's
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: the last minute thing. Yeah, we're gonna have a big backdrop.
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: Yeah, get the Patriots, famous Patriot fans stop by say hello.
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: Well that's it's a problem because you need a media credentially,
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: it's not fans.
- 1:04:41Speaker 7: There's usually you'll love, there's like famous.
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: There might be food.
- 1:04:45Speaker 7: They might like like vendors, Like I'll be like walking
- 1:04:47Speaker 7: around to advertise the food anymore, Yes, and they'll you know.
- 1:04:53Speaker 7: It's yeah, it's literally the combine, but just turned up
- 1:04:56Speaker 7: to ten.
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: You know, I'm hoping because where the team that you know,
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: people might want to might want to sit with us.
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: And we're in the Super Bowl. I mean, come on,
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: I mean our numbers are through the roof. We were
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: just had a meeting this morning and our analytics team,
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: we're telling us the numbers. I mean, yeah, you're welcome
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: this year.
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: You know, leading up to this year, like oh, you know,
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: a good video had hundreds of thousands of views. You know,
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: occasionally you go in the millions, you know, with Gronk
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: denting the trophy or something like that. But now these
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: last two weeks, everything the low bar is millions. You know,
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: now we're trying to get into the tens of millions.
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: I'm curious how the pre and post game show did
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: this weekend. I thought, I don't know, probably pretty well,
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: probably hope. So you're welcome, Mike.
- 1:05:39Speaker 7: I think going to the cooler parts was coming back
- 1:05:42Speaker 7: on Monday, and like there's there are fans at the
- 1:05:46Speaker 7: airport that were waiting for us when we landed at
- 1:05:48Speaker 7: the airport, and then as like the buses were driving
- 1:05:51Speaker 7: back to Foxboro, that like the horns and like you know,
- 1:05:54Speaker 7: everybody just like guys, like people are like on the
- 1:05:58Speaker 7: side of the road out of their car is like
- 1:06:00Speaker 7: filming us going by and all that of course for me, yeah, absolutely, friend.
- 1:06:05Speaker 7: And then we got back and the Foxborough Fire Department
- 1:06:09Speaker 7: was here and they had lights on, their lights on
- 1:06:12Speaker 7: and everything, and there's more fans.
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: So I remember I've never been a part of anything.
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: Like the first Super Bowl my wife went to in one,
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: Like I was already down there and she came with
- 1:06:21Speaker 3: the group coming on Thursday and she's like calling me,
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: like they gave us.
- 1:06:25Speaker 6: Free Dunkin Donuts and we have an escort.
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, the escort. The inverts was the same way,
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: like you guys get an escort, Well, yeah, how do
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: you think get work?
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: Yeah, So like that was like the coolest thing, and
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: like here we are. It happens all the time.
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: All I can think of when I'm a few times
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: I've been on the bus for an escort. It's just
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: like the people getting held up at the on ramps
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: and I'm imagine they're just being.
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: What the hell you know? Have you never this time?
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: You was so close to the stadium, you might not.
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: Like every once in a while when I come in
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: the late buses. It happened in the Houston game two
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: weeks ago. You get tied up because it is kind
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: of annoying when you when you don't make it in
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: front of the bus and you have to stop and waiting.
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: You know what it is? Yeah, you know, but yeah,
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: you know it's your tax payer.
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: Let's open it up. Everyone who's been waiting patiently appreciate that.
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: Everyone who's been on hold and people emailing this is awesome.
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: I'm right there with you. Stacey's in CA. I assume
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: that's California. What's up, Stacy, Oh my.
- 1:07:27Speaker 8: Gosh, I am so excited.
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: Oh ten years ago, twenty sixteen, Levi Stadium just opened.
- 1:07:34Speaker 5: We're going to have the Super Bowl.
- 1:07:36Speaker 14: The Patriots are going to be there because Brady's.
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: Going to get us there, and we go to Denver
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: and laugh.
- 1:07:41Speaker 15: Yeah, we have to see a super Bowl.
- 1:07:43Speaker 8: With the with the Broncos and the Panthers.
- 1:07:46Speaker 16: But the whole week was really fun.
- 1:07:47Speaker 7: I'm a couple of miles from the stadium and they
- 1:07:50Speaker 7: do They did a really good job in Santa Claire of.
- 1:07:52Speaker 16: Doing stuff for local people.
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: But I couldn't believe it.
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: When we won.
- 1:07:57Speaker 16: I am not going to miss this.
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: So I am going, Oh, that's great ticket.
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: So Stacey, you're you live close. What is like the
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: area starting to shape up as it's starting to get
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: that super Bowl feel?
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: No? Oh, okay, not yet, not yet? Procrastinators are they?
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: What would you say the weather is like a question.
- 1:08:23Speaker 9: It is blue sky beautiful.
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: It's going to be you know, maybe maybe low sixties,
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: high fifties.
- 1:08:32Speaker 14: It's going to be great, Okay.
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: Great Bomby weather compared to what we've got.
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: Yeah, it's going to feel like all right, well, Stacy,
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: thanks for calling in. It's going to be a great week.
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: Have a good time, Have a good time.
- 1:08:43Speaker 14: I never missed you guys.
- 1:08:45Speaker 16: Thank you.
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: Okay, thanks for listening and watching. Could take that a
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: different way. I never miss you guys. Why don't you
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: miss us? Herms in DC? What's up? Herm told you
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: you worried too much, man, like.
- 1:09:00Speaker 6: I shouldn't have been worried about that.
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: Come on, come on, man, I told you we got
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: this all right.
- 1:09:08Speaker 6: I thought we'd win, but I didn't think it would
- 1:09:09Speaker 6: be easy.
- 1:09:10Speaker 8: Oh yeah, come on, man, we got Breake May We're gon.
- 1:09:13Speaker 8: We got a little game.
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: Anyway, that game he didn't have a miszooka. All right,
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: but no, right, listen, Herm, you had the faith. It's
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: paid off. What do you think going forward? What do
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: you think this last game?
- 1:09:27Speaker 8: So I'll get to that.
- 1:09:29Speaker 15: I thought about it this way.
- 1:09:32Speaker 8: Yes, it's about player metsup.
- 1:09:33Speaker 15: But lately I've been thinking about it in terms of
- 1:09:35Speaker 15: coaching matchups, and I just can't see a scenario where
- 1:09:40Speaker 15: coach McDaniels will be out scheming by was it coach
- 1:09:44Speaker 15: Dirt the visit quarter.
- 1:09:47Speaker 7: Mike McDonald is their head coach, is a defensive guy.
- 1:09:51Speaker 7: He runs the defense.
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: So who's there? Off Clink is up for a lot
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: of these openings. That's gonna go. Yeah, he's very good.
- 1:10:00Speaker 7: It related to Gary Kubiak, he's also Yep, his father
- 1:10:04Speaker 7: is Gary Kubiak. So it's a it's a West Coast offense,
- 1:10:08Speaker 7: Shanahan Tree offense. They don't motion quite as much as
- 1:10:11Speaker 7: some of the new guys do, but it's that's the roots.
- 1:10:14Speaker 15: Yeah, I mean, I guess the point is in terms
- 1:10:18Speaker 15: of like coaching matchups, I think we've definitely got advantage.
- 1:10:21Speaker 8: And then also.
- 1:10:23Speaker 15: I will say that I think both defenses will be
- 1:10:26Speaker 15: able to get pressure on the opposing office in line.
- 1:10:30Speaker 15: But I just think that Drake may will be able
- 1:10:32Speaker 15: to deal better with it versus Sam Darnold, you know
- 1:10:35Speaker 15: what I mean, Well will force him into a few
- 1:10:39Speaker 15: mistaken turnoles. It's just up on us to take advantage
- 1:10:43Speaker 15: of it. And I just think that I just think
- 1:10:46Speaker 15: that coach McDaniels will come up with a really good
- 1:10:48Speaker 15: game plan for Drake, especially with like the weather being
- 1:10:51Speaker 15: you know, as the lady said before before me.
- 1:10:54Speaker 16: That it's gonna be nice, so it's gonna be no
- 1:10:55Speaker 16: excuse for not to move the ball without any problem.
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: Right, Okay, Well thanks, term appreciated. Keep the faith. I
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: don't even know why we're going. I listen, this is
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: gonna be tough. That's a that's a good team, like
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: all the different things. And I agree with everything he
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: said pro patriot, but I think everything he said pro
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: patriot is also true with Seattle, like they've been extremely
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: well coached, they have an extremely positive culture that Mike
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: McDonald is established. Although it broke down a little bit
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: in that game towards the end sports from penalty. Yeah
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: you know again, you and your brethren go home, leave
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: the game to the players. Please like that in a
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: nonsense of goal. Yes, bad play by will and whatever.
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: No one wants to see that. If you could have
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: a repeat of what the the AFC referees did in
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: the AFC Championship game, I'm sure there was a couple
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: of penalties missed here there, but it's great anybody complaining
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: about about the penalty calls in that game. No, no, no, nope. Yeah.
- 1:12:00Speaker 7: I would just say, you know, I have all the
- 1:12:02Speaker 7: respect in the world for Rabel and McDaniel. This is
- 1:12:05Speaker 7: a really good coaching staff.
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: Everything you said pro Patriot is yeah, I don't think
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: that this is Uh. And they had the best receiver
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: on the planet, or one of them anyway.
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: Yeah, he's great.
- 1:12:17Speaker 7: You know, I will say that I think defensively, the
- 1:12:19Speaker 7: way the Patriots have been playing, I I don't hate
- 1:12:22Speaker 7: how they match up. You know, it's a run first team.
- 1:12:24Speaker 7: They want to run the ball.
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: Uh.
- 1:12:26Speaker 7: They really have one good receiver. You know, Cup is
- 1:12:30Speaker 7: on his last leg, Rashizia. Heats kind of a one
- 1:12:32Speaker 7: trick pony.
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: Give him a lift though. Yeah, he's a good player,
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: but he runs.
- 1:12:40Speaker 7: Sure, he runs across from you, you know, like we're
- 1:12:42Speaker 7: going crossers or we're going up the field, and that's
- 1:12:45Speaker 7: about it. I think that, you know, it's easier said
- 1:12:48Speaker 7: than done, but if you can stop the run, you
- 1:12:50Speaker 7: can put it into a drop back pass game and
- 1:12:52Speaker 7: then have something special for JSN, whether it's Gonzo with
- 1:12:55Speaker 7: help or whatever. Uh, it's It's an offense that you
- 1:12:58Speaker 7: look at on paper and say, couldn't this be twenty
- 1:13:02Speaker 7: three to twenty? You know, can they can they win
- 1:13:04Speaker 7: the game?
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: That way? All true, and I would just say they
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: just again picking apart some of the things that Herm said,
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: So I he thinks both defensive lines will get pressure
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: on the quarterback. But you know, Donald will makes some mistakes. Well,
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: if we're going off the postseason, then it would be
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: made that will make the mistake. Yeah, Donald's been really good.
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: Donald's been really good. Now that doesn't mean that Donald
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: doesn't go out and throw four picks in the Super Bowl.
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: I don't know what's gonna happen in the next game,
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: but what's happened in the previous games is Donald's been
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: lights out. May hasn't been.
- 1:13:32Speaker 7: Yeah, I think that's the one advantage, you know, this
- 1:13:35Speaker 7: matchup versus if they had drew the Rams. This is
- 1:13:37Speaker 7: Sam Donald's first Super Bowl. It's Mike McDonald's first Super Bowl,
- 1:13:41Speaker 7: just like it's Drake May and Mike Rabels first as
- 1:13:43Speaker 7: a coach.
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: But I do give Rabel a little more because of
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: the Yeah, the.
- 1:13:49Speaker 7: Be here times.
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: But yeah, that that's something that appeals to me is
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: just the McDaniels of it all, and hearing more and
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: more coaches talk about the Super Bowl how sometimes it's
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: like two completely different games, having separate game plans, being
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: ready to go into the half court, into the locker
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: room at halftime and have a long break. I hope
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: hopefully they're able to get the Patriots ready for that.
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: But I watched a lot of Seattle yesterday, and they're
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: they're just a really I mean, you talk about just
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: a well coached team that all knows what they're doing
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: and all believe in it, and they're just they're just
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: super talented. It's like one of those teams where it's
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: like when you have talent across the board on defense,
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: it opens up everything you want to do.
- 1:14:24Speaker 7: Yeah, the biggest thing that stands out to me with
- 1:14:25Speaker 7: their defense, and you're not schematically. They go like seven
- 1:14:28Speaker 7: or eight deep on the defensive line. They have guys
- 1:14:31Speaker 7: that like Bowie Mafi like doesn't even play and he
- 1:14:34Speaker 7: you know, he might start here, you know, Like they
- 1:14:36Speaker 7: they go really deep on their defensive line. They have
- 1:14:39Speaker 7: like a bunch of guys, you know. I think Rabel
- 1:14:41Speaker 7: mentioned this morning they have like five or six guys
- 1:14:43Speaker 7: that I'll have seven or more sacks on the season.
- 1:14:46Speaker 7: So this isn't like will Anderson and Daniel Hunter and
- 1:14:49Speaker 7: that's kind of their pass rush. This is a volume
- 1:14:53Speaker 7: pass rush. They have waves of guys that they can
- 1:14:55Speaker 7: send at you.
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: Yeah, Leonard Williams, I'm getting confused all the Leonards and yeah,
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: ar Williams, Byron Murphy and Murphy first round pick.
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: A good player. Three guys with seven sacks Williams and Murphy,
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: Marcus Lawrence and then Lawrence has six. So yeah, that
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: they spread it out. They don't have one guy that dominates. Yep,
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: don't blitz a lot.
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: Pick their spots when they do. You know, between em
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: and Moory uh, and the and the cornerback what's his
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: name in Blanken Uh, Witherspoon. Witherspoon, quite a really good
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: athletic inside guys.
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: They the most well rounded team in the that we
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: met in the playoffs.
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean they're good in all three phases.
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: It's definitely defensively, have anything even pointed out like, yeah,
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: they have the best receiver in the game, and Donald's
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: playing really well, and they've got a good offensive line.
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: But you know, it's not exactly a murderer's row after
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: that of you know where you're looking at the rams
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: and they have two elite targets.
- 1:15:45Speaker 6: Don't forget about Cooper Cup now he's good.
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: I mean, you know, I forgot about it.
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: But at the at the end of it, and then
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: they were down to the Jake Bobos of the world,
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: and you know, Charbonnay got hurt, so that affects their
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: depth a little bit.
- 1:15:56Speaker 7: And their tight ends contribute to the Their tight ends
- 1:15:58Speaker 7: are really good blockers and they use a little bit differently.
- 1:16:02Speaker 7: They also have one of my favorites, Robbie Oots, the
- 1:16:04Speaker 7: full back. You know, he's a good fullback.
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: But you know, it's.
- 1:16:10Speaker 7: It's a team that really wants to be to live
- 1:16:13Speaker 7: in that run play action world. You know, Stretch Run, Stretch,
- 1:16:17Speaker 7: Run play Action Boot, you know, things like that, Like
- 1:16:20Speaker 7: that's the base of their offense. And you know, just
- 1:16:23Speaker 7: looking at some of the numbers over the last couple
- 1:16:25Speaker 7: of days, like if you get it into a drop
- 1:16:27Speaker 7: back passing game where Darnold doesn't have the efficiency driver
- 1:16:31Speaker 7: of play Action and he's just asked to convert thirty
- 1:16:34Speaker 7: and eights and thirty mediums like just likes to watch
- 1:16:37Speaker 7: and that's where you have that's where you have your
- 1:16:39Speaker 7: chance that that's where you can knock them out.
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: Has been I mean, to your point, Freddy has been okay,
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: he's been the secondary.
- 1:16:45Speaker 7: He's been better than expected. But she needs a problem.
- 1:16:48Speaker 7: She needs a problem on special teams. He's a problem
- 1:16:51Speaker 7: on offense. They'll run them on end of rounds, crossing roads, verticals,
- 1:16:55Speaker 7: and he returns kickoffsdam pun, sick and house, both of.
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: Them a great acquisition for them.
- 1:17:00Speaker 3: Aj Barmer is the guy that kept Marcus Jones off
- 1:17:03Speaker 3: the Pro Bowl, right, No, that was okay, is very married.
- 1:17:09Speaker 7: I mean he ran right by a guy in the
- 1:17:11Speaker 7: NFC Championship game for a big play and early on
- 1:17:13Speaker 7: in that game. I mean he's got that ability.
- 1:17:15Speaker 3: All right, let's get back to the phone, Seawan said, Vancouver,
- 1:17:18Speaker 3: what's up, Sean Paul, You.
- 1:17:20Speaker 17: Were so right, you know, back in the middle of
- 1:17:22Speaker 17: the winning streak. He pointed out, how you never know
- 1:17:24Speaker 17: when you will get that chance again. Carpe DM In November,
- 1:17:28Speaker 17: before the win in Tampa, we felt we were playing
- 1:17:30Speaker 17: with house money. It turned out to be an actual
- 1:17:33Speaker 17: opportunity to win it all. This season, we had three
- 1:17:36Speaker 17: tough wins in the playoffs with passing challenges. Now where
- 1:17:38Speaker 17: Patriots are going to their twelve Super Bowl, New England
- 1:17:41Speaker 17: offs the brightest future where set up to grow as well,
- 1:17:44Speaker 17: best coaches, solid cap potential MBT at quarterback. That's a
- 1:17:48Speaker 17: formula for sustaining success. On February eighth, and Santa klaarra
- 1:17:52Speaker 17: our New England Patriots can win their seventh Super Bowl.
- 1:17:55Speaker 17: That would be more than any other team. Only Tom
- 1:17:57Speaker 17: Brady can match that. I know, the same episode, just
- 1:18:00Speaker 17: the contrary, but you can really have it all LFT.
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: Let's go, let go, let go all right, Sean, that's
- 1:18:06Speaker 3: the most wired up I've ever heard.
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: Sean. That was like Chester like, yeah, I love it.
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: I love it too early Sean from Vancouver. Well, anytime
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: it starts so with Paul, you were right, I automatically
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: assume you're being sarcast No. I mean I'm waiting for
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: like the shoot to drop, Like I said something stupid,
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: which is you know my my want.
- 1:18:29Speaker 3: Let's go to Daniel in California. What's up, Daniel?
- 1:18:34Speaker 14: Hello, gentlemen. Yeah, so I couldn't be happier man for
- 1:18:40Speaker 14: the past right now? Uh, no question to actually share
- 1:18:44Speaker 14: at the moment.
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: But just kind of a thought.
- 1:18:47Speaker 14: I was actually at the Paths versus forty nine Ers
- 1:18:49Speaker 14: game in Santa Clara last season. Absolute brutal game. We
- 1:18:54Speaker 14: got smoked, says you guys probably remember, total blowout. I
- 1:18:58Speaker 14: still remember all of us fans chanting play May chance,
- 1:19:02Speaker 14: just because you know, Jacobe was still starting at the time.
- 1:19:06Speaker 14: But just looking back at it, you know, if he
- 1:19:08Speaker 14: told me after that game that we would be heading
- 1:19:11Speaker 14: to the super Bowl and Drake May would be an
- 1:19:13Speaker 14: every key candidate the next season, I'll just say, you're
- 1:19:17Speaker 14: out of your mind.
- 1:19:17Speaker 8: But that's just a crazy thought.
- 1:19:19Speaker 16: Let's go pat You's.
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: Baby, all right, Thank you, Daniel, appreciate it.
- 1:19:23Speaker 7: I heard Rex Ryan talking about this probably yesterday.
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: I don't know where.
- 1:19:26Speaker 7: It was on one of Paul's show, so I don't know.
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: Exactly what the Rex Ryan. It was on my show,
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: we no, no, it was.
- 1:19:32Speaker 7: They were playing a clip of Rex Ryan, so I
- 1:19:34Speaker 7: don't know exactly what show was. But normally we don't
- 1:19:37Speaker 7: like Rex Ryan around here. But he said that this
- 1:19:39Speaker 7: is one of the best coaching jobs he's ever seen
- 1:19:42Speaker 7: in his life with Mike Rabel, and he was pointing
- 1:19:44Speaker 7: to all of the guys that were on the team
- 1:19:47Speaker 7: last year that have gotten better and are now a
- 1:19:49Speaker 7: part of the winning this year. And how you know,
- 1:19:52Speaker 7: it's one thing to go sign Milton Williams and go
- 1:19:54Speaker 7: sign Stefan Diggs, but to make the players that were here,
- 1:19:58Speaker 7: like Drake May you.
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: Know, even better, Booty.
- 1:20:01Speaker 7: It speaks to the coaching that this staff is done
- 1:20:04Speaker 7: because this team, you know, fifty percent of these guys
- 1:20:07Speaker 7: won four games last year and now they're on.
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: You know, Marcus Jones, I would say, Christian Ellis, Marcus
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: Jones is pretty good, but he always it's good. I
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: think you're right. Christian Ellis, I think has been especially
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: the second half of the season. It seems like he's
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: just like a jolt of energy. He's so fast to
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: the balls. He's a very good blitzer.
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, David and Florida writes, and having listened to
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: the show for about six years now, I've noticed some
- 1:20:34Speaker 3: of the crew's favorite phrases. Paul, I'm very consistent on this,
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: Fred Listen, Folks. Ducee always seems to play Devil's advocate,
- 1:20:41Speaker 3: but then picks the Patriots to win the game, but
- 1:20:43Speaker 3: not before convincing himself that Dylan Gabriel could give us trouble.
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: You get Duce gets very worried about everything. I'm not worried.
- 1:20:53Speaker 2: I'm not having fun.
- 1:20:54Speaker 7: I'm worried about you with the Seahawks team then, because
- 1:20:57Speaker 7: you can really get worried about there's.
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: A lot going on this game for Porduce because I've
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: always said Seattle it was like one of my favorite
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: teams growing up. So to get to go to my Oh,
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: I know, they were my sight. Do you remember I
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: told the story about Steve Largent was my favorite player.
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: Yeah, they were my little side.
- 1:21:12Speaker 7: I'm not four people that have side teams.
- 1:21:14Speaker 16: I don't.
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: I don't even know why.
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: Maybe all thirty one other teams. Yeah, even Fred doesn't
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: hate all thirty one. He's twenty eight sixteen.
- 1:21:24Speaker 7: And people are like, oh, that's my NL team. I no, no,
- 1:21:28Speaker 7: and I And it's just it always stuck with me.
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: I've always kind of pulled for Seattle when for me,
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: I don't know that'd be cool.
- 1:21:35Speaker 3: Cool Peter in Houston, if you haven't already mentioned him today,
- 1:21:38Speaker 3: I've been thinking about the playoffs, about the fan from
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: California who called mid season and said he was placing
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: a bet on the Patriots to make the super Bowl
- 1:21:46Speaker 3: and would use the winnings to buy his ticket to
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: the game.
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: I forgot.
- 1:21:48Speaker 3: I remember thinking he was totally insane. I'd love to
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: hear from him now and make sure he has collected
- 1:21:54Speaker 3: those winnings he cashed out.
- 1:21:56Speaker 7: I didn't think it was totally insane. Once they won
- 1:21:59Speaker 7: the three straight road games, including the game in Buffalo.
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: Oh, you know, like I thought at that point, I
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: was like.
- 1:22:06Speaker 7: I don't know, if it's super Bowl no longer insane,
- 1:22:09Speaker 7: Like I'm it would still be crazy for them to
- 1:22:11Speaker 7: go to the super Bowl. But because at that point
- 1:22:14Speaker 7: the AFC landscape had kind of softened a little bit,
- 1:22:17Speaker 7: you know, the Chiefs were having their issues, and I
- 1:22:20Speaker 7: was like Burrow was hurt, Like okay, like you know
- 1:22:23Speaker 7: this team is going to be.
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: In the mix, like they're going to I agree, it
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: wasn't insane, but I didn't really think it was a
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: real possibility until it was apparent that like Kansas City
- 1:22:33Speaker 2: was out, Baltimore was out, Cincinnati was out, Like there's
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: only going to be one quarterback that you potentially had
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: to deal with. But no, like once they when they
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: won in Buffalo, that was when I was like, oh,
- 1:22:46Speaker 2: this team's team's pretty good. It's no longer just you know.
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: They they won this game, they lost that one. This
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: team's you win in Buffalo like that, and then you're
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: pretty good. And then, like Evan said, they follow that
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: up with road wins against teams that they should have beaten,
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: and they did it with New Orleans and Tennessee. Yeah,
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: so I wouldn't have said it was impossible. And now
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: I wouldn't have predicted it. I didn't. I didn't. As
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: a matter of fact, I kind of still didn't know.
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: Like even Sunday, I thought they were gonna win the game,
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: and I'm still kind of I can't believe they're in
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: the super Bowl. You know something.
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: I don't know if you guys noticed this, but like
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: on Saturday, I was sitting there thinking and I was like,
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: so nine they could go nine and zero on the road.
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: And I started doing the math and stuff, and I'm like,
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: I don't think anybody's gone by nine and oh and then.
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: Then CBS stole it.
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: By the time we get to the same post game,
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: they're like, we have big news. You know, this has
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: never been like all of a sudden, then it became
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: like I just show at eleven o'clock.
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: In the morning. I was breaking it down. They but warriors, Warriors.
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: There was a little something about that. But they were
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: dressed as the Warriors and they were yelling warriors. So yeah,
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: like the guy with the you know the guy they lost,
- 1:23:53Speaker 2: right like warriors, the last guy. That's the best one
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: I got. The narrative, I kind of I kind of
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: liked it, so I didn't like the post game part
- 1:24:04Speaker 2: of it, Like, but I like, like Max, you know
- 1:24:06Speaker 2: Max's going to do is you know the mac things
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: and in terms of those things, I kind of liked
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: that one.
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: I was kind of flyn did it come from.
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: They seemed Rabel was very aware of it too, so
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: I don't know if it was like mentioned a meeting
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: or something.
- 1:24:18Speaker 7: Well, so he's he has called them road warriors, and
- 1:24:22Speaker 7: then they took it to the next step and.
- 1:24:24Speaker 2: Makes it even better if that's w's where it eminated.
- 1:24:27Speaker 7: Road Warriors has been a big one last week with
- 1:24:30Speaker 7: Denver joined the Mile High Club was another big one. Uh,
- 1:24:34Speaker 7: I thought I was toning that one down funny, but
- 1:24:37Speaker 7: road Warriors sort of the.
- 1:24:40Speaker 2: Call as a guy who's sort of like, you know,
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: out of that demographic with the whole mac Hollins experience.
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, I'm here for mac Hollins to player all
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: day every day. I think he's been a really valuable
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: contributor to that team. I'm not really as interested in
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: the other stuff that was kind of cool. I I
- 1:24:57Speaker 2: liked the Warriors thing, maybe because I'm old and it
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: was a seventies more be kind of. He could have
- 1:25:01Speaker 2: done Road Warrior.
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: He could have gotten all post apocalyptic and had like
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: one shoulder pad.
- 1:25:05Speaker 2: On like Matt Max wouldn't have been as good. But
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: the Warriors. I was imagining a lot of people, but
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: he went all the way.
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: Friend Bradley, who has literally never seen a movie before
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: in his life, I'm sure that this one was completely
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: over his head, along with a lot of people who
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: don't know.
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: I did not cant be Warriors from when we Warriors.
- 1:25:24Speaker 2: Yeah sure in the theater.
- 1:25:28Speaker 7: That all the like the stadium people now like that.
- 1:25:31Speaker 7: You know, Denver people were like, what the heck is
- 1:25:33Speaker 7: going on?
- 1:25:34Speaker 2: And I was like, what's going on? It's just the
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: way he was jacked up the whole. Even in the game.
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: He was like dancing, yeah, yeah, yeah, back at it.
- 1:25:46Speaker 3: He's back all right, and we're back to the phones. Uh,
- 1:25:50Speaker 3: Moodies in Mississippi. What's up, Moody?
- 1:25:54Speaker 2: Hey? All right, all right.
- 1:25:57Speaker 18: Look, bit, I'm kind of really excited about this game,
- 1:26:00Speaker 18: and they kind of feel like a David versus the
- 1:26:02Speaker 18: Live like type Max. I don't know if you guys
- 1:26:05Speaker 18: haven't watched The House of David, The Sery House of David.
- 1:26:09Speaker 18: I feel like the team want to watch State to
- 1:26:11Speaker 18: kind of get encouraged. But the one thing that got
- 1:26:14Speaker 18: me really excited about this is that we hadn't seen
- 1:26:16Speaker 18: Greg made best performance hit. He hadn't played lights out yet,
- 1:26:20Speaker 18: and I'm and I'm just waiting on him to put
- 1:26:22Speaker 18: up a performance just like a Tom Brady like type,
- 1:26:25Speaker 18: just play out in mind. So that's what got me
- 1:26:27Speaker 18: really excited, because we hadn't seen Greg May do his
- 1:26:30Speaker 18: best sofall.
- 1:26:31Speaker 3: We may not see Drake May's best performance until there's
- 1:26:37Speaker 3: things added to this offense down the road, right, you
- 1:26:42Speaker 3: know what I mean?
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: Yeah, especially in this game.
- 1:26:46Speaker 7: You know, I thought there are four or five throws
- 1:26:48Speaker 7: that he just flat out missed that we wouldn't normally
- 1:26:50Speaker 7: miss that.
- 1:26:51Speaker 2: You know, I'm just thinking of.
- 1:26:52Speaker 7: A couple of them, the booty specifically that even if
- 1:26:55Speaker 7: you hit that one before halftime on that deep incut
- 1:26:57Speaker 7: to booty that he's hit a million times in his life,
- 1:27:00Speaker 7: Like that's a twenty yard play right there, that puts
- 1:27:02Speaker 7: him into field goal range.
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: You know, Just little things like that.
- 1:27:05Speaker 16: See how to see defense.
- 1:27:08Speaker 18: But they got some holes, and may he'd haggard some.
- 1:27:12Speaker 15: Holes that he get hitting us some hoping that we
- 1:27:14Speaker 15: can hit us someplace and that we can explore.
- 1:27:15Speaker 18: So I'm excited about it.
- 1:27:17Speaker 16: I believe we can pull.
- 1:27:20Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: Well, thanks thanks for the call, Moody. I appreciate it.
- 1:27:23Speaker 7: Interested to see with Seattle their their man coverage rate
- 1:27:26Speaker 7: a lot, like the Patriots has increased a lot in
- 1:27:28Speaker 7: the playoffs compared to the regular season.
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: They've been there.
- 1:27:31Speaker 7: They're zone defense, I would say, but in the playoffs
- 1:27:34Speaker 7: they played a lot more man, especially on third down.
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: The Patriots.
- 1:27:37Speaker 7: I think I've struggled a little bit with man to
- 1:27:39Speaker 7: man in the playoffs.
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: So I don't think that's.
- 1:27:41Speaker 7: Really Seattle's mo that's not really their their like bread
- 1:27:45Speaker 7: and butter. So this game could get decided to buy
- 1:27:48Speaker 7: who's better in those man to man situations? Uh, The
- 1:27:52Speaker 7: Seahawks are the Patriots.
- 1:27:53Speaker 3: Joe and Michigan rights, And boy was I wrong on
- 1:27:55Speaker 3: the score, but right that the Patriots would win. Watching carefully,
- 1:27:59Speaker 3: Campbell was nine percent efficient and played well. He will
- 1:28:02Speaker 3: never be perfect. Sorry about that. I give up predicting
- 1:28:05Speaker 3: scores with Rabel. I think Patriots will find a way
- 1:28:07Speaker 3: to win. I think the d has taken full responsibility
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: to win their matchups.
- 1:28:11Speaker 2: And at the end of the.
- 1:28:11Speaker 3: Day, Sam Donald will be Sam Donald. All it will
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: take is one mistake and he'll make it. I expect
- 1:28:17Speaker 3: Iceman may will also be much improved.
- 1:28:21Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, if you can tell yourself as good as
- 1:28:24Speaker 2: you guys do. I didn't think the line was as
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: good as other people do. I've heard a lot of
- 1:28:29Speaker 2: what were the numbers? Mike had some numbers there were pretty.
- 1:28:33Speaker 7: I think, you know, it was about thirty seven percent
- 1:28:35Speaker 7: pressure rate, which is on the higher side. But you know,
- 1:28:38Speaker 7: there were also times where he's holding the ball because
- 1:28:40Speaker 7: he's either not seeing it or guys aren't getting open,
- 1:28:42Speaker 7: or whatever the case may be. So I think the
- 1:28:44Speaker 7: ones that you know, you just hope don't happen in
- 1:28:48Speaker 7: the Super Bowl are you know, the mental errors, you.
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: Know don't try to cut a guy on a regular
- 1:28:54Speaker 2: drop that pass. I mean, I don't. I don't know.
- 1:28:57Speaker 7: I can't sit here and tell you if he was
- 1:28:59Speaker 7: coached to if that was part of the call. Usually
- 1:29:02Speaker 7: cutting is part of the call, Like that's that's not
- 1:29:04Speaker 7: something that you just freelance and do on your own.
- 1:29:07Speaker 7: So like, I don't know, I don't know if that
- 1:29:09Speaker 7: was what that was. It was not a good block.
- 1:29:12Speaker 7: I also think it's a little bit overblown, but it
- 1:29:14Speaker 7: was not a good lie.
- 1:29:14Speaker 2: I just I mean, you're right, I don't know the
- 1:29:17Speaker 2: play call, so it is dangerous. Generally, if it's like
- 1:29:20Speaker 2: a quick slant or something to that side, he get
- 1:29:23Speaker 2: his hands over, they want to get them. They want
- 1:29:25Speaker 2: to make sure they get that edge rusher's hands out
- 1:29:28Speaker 2: of the passing lane. That's when you cut. This was
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: like a straight drop back pass on third and long
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: that he wasn't really even looking to the left side
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: and they're trying to get You know, the fact that
- 1:29:39Speaker 2: he missed the cut is of less importance to me
- 1:29:41Speaker 2: because anybody you can physically make a block or miss
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: a block. I didn't like the approach to me. It
- 1:29:46Speaker 2: kind of struck like he's already kind of spooked by
- 1:29:50Speaker 2: this guy a little bit, and he doesn't trust his technique.
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: That's how and again that's dangerous. I shouldn't do that.
- 1:29:55Speaker 7: I just would say that you don't normally cut on
- 1:29:58Speaker 7: your own. It's usually a part of the play call.
- 1:30:03Speaker 7: It's part of the protection.
- 1:30:04Speaker 2: Uh. You know.
- 1:30:06Speaker 7: On that play they were trying to Diggs was on
- 1:30:09Speaker 7: the shallow and they were trying to just run off
- 1:30:10Speaker 7: the front side and just hit him in stride and
- 1:30:13Speaker 7: hope that he.
- 1:30:13Speaker 2: Could turn up the field. That's a fair point.
- 1:30:15Speaker 7: I don't It didn't work obviously, and I would I.
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: Would say that, you know, he was better in this
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: game than he was the previous game. I will say that, yeah, yeah,
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: but I don't think was great one remembering correctly, they
- 1:30:27Speaker 2: were setting all the blocking up, were like.
- 1:30:29Speaker 7: And like they were going to they don't call it this,
- 1:30:32Speaker 7: but they they're running what's called usually like a wall screen,
- 1:30:35Speaker 7: where it's like kind of a downfield screen. So they're
- 1:30:38Speaker 7: trying to run Digs from the backside to the front
- 1:30:40Speaker 7: side and then run off the front side and get
- 1:30:43Speaker 7: some blocks for him. So they weren't actually trying to
- 1:30:45Speaker 7: throw the ball down the field. They weren't trying to
- 1:30:47Speaker 7: throw it.
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: So I said, fair point. And I and I've criticized
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: you and your ILK for telling me things when you
- 1:30:54Speaker 2: don't know the play, and I just did the same thing.
- 1:30:55Speaker 7: So I'll take that, Okay, the one that that would
- 1:30:58Speaker 7: bug me more. Uh, they got Remandre on Benino dropping
- 1:31:03Speaker 7: out of the rush, and yeah, it wasn't wide open
- 1:31:07Speaker 7: that that's probably one of the better coverage reps for
- 1:31:10Speaker 7: an end dropping out on Remandre all year.
- 1:31:12Speaker 2: But that throw was there that Drake probably hits.
- 1:31:16Speaker 7: Yeah, And uh, and you know, Will Campbell and Jared
- 1:31:18Speaker 7: Wilson got confused by by the scheme on that side
- 1:31:22Speaker 7: of the ball and let a guy through unblocked. So
- 1:31:24Speaker 7: if they that's gonna be what Seattle I think is
- 1:31:27Speaker 7: going to try to do the most because I, like
- 1:31:29Speaker 7: we said earlier, I don't think they have like a
- 1:31:31Speaker 7: Will Anderson or a Danielle Hunter or a Nick Bonino
- 1:31:34Speaker 7: that's going to terrify you in terms of the one
- 1:31:36Speaker 7: on one reps.
- 1:31:37Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:31:37Speaker 7: But I think they're going to try to cook it
- 1:31:39Speaker 7: up over that left side against the rookies and just
- 1:31:42Speaker 7: mess with them.
- 1:31:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I able talked about that today. They're as good
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: as anybody in the league. Stunts too, which I.
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: Mean it reminded me a little bit of the Patriots
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: with the way they work together. A lot of that stuff,
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: same thing Patriots do, they.
- 1:31:53Speaker 2: Do it too.
- 1:31:54Speaker 7: My guess is Remandre will be used a lot in
- 1:31:56Speaker 7: pass protection like he was in this game, as like
- 1:31:59Speaker 7: a third guy to that side, so that if one
- 1:32:02Speaker 7: guy does miss the block or they don't exchange it properly,
- 1:32:05Speaker 7: they have like another layer to try to help him out.
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: Did we watch that one live where he just stolem wall?
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: The guy coming off the flicker?
- 1:32:11Speaker 2: The fleet flicker is one of the best. He saved
- 1:32:15Speaker 2: makes life on the fleet flicker. It was like to
- 1:32:17Speaker 2: turn around to close it back to May and then
- 1:32:20Speaker 2: turn of mind to hold your ground.
- 1:32:23Speaker 7: Yeah, and just to drop anchor like that? Is it unbelievable?
- 1:32:26Speaker 2: Block?
- 1:32:27Speaker 3: Dylan writes, sim what an ugly game. Not sure about you, guys,
- 1:32:30Speaker 3: but I felt we were gonna win the entire time.
- 1:32:32Speaker 3: What a performance by the defensive line. Barber was putting
- 1:32:35Speaker 3: out teach tape on first team All Pro and Williams
- 1:32:38Speaker 3: had more pressures than any player against the Broncos this season.
- 1:32:42Speaker 3: Those guys have been unbelievable.
- 1:32:44Speaker 2: Hey, here's an interesting games. Defensive line was very good.
- 1:32:48Speaker 3: Here's an interesting conversation piece for Paul to say, who
- 1:32:51Speaker 3: cares to uh, knowing what we know now, would you
- 1:32:54Speaker 3: go back to outbid the Seahawks for Shaheed? And how
- 1:32:57Speaker 3: different is this matchup if he's playing for US, specially
- 1:33:00Speaker 3: as a returner. Anyway, the whole world thinks it's going
- 1:33:03Speaker 3: to be a blowout, and I wouldn't have it any
- 1:33:05Speaker 3: other way, not really.
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, you could make an argument. I don't.
- 1:33:12Speaker 2: I don't know how much of a difference he's been.
- 1:33:14Speaker 2: I think Evan's right. I think he's been kind of
- 1:33:16Speaker 2: a one trick pony. They send him on go routes
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: and I don't know, is he better than Booty and
- 1:33:21Speaker 2: the go routes. It seems like Drake has a really
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: good rapport with him on those.
- 1:33:26Speaker 7: Different type of player, of course, totally different, but the speed.
- 1:33:29Speaker 7: I mean, I think that you know, Shaheed is a
- 1:33:32Speaker 7: game breaker, and so there's one play a game that
- 1:33:34Speaker 7: he breaks the game open.
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: You know, last week it was a deep route. I
- 1:33:38Speaker 2: would take Shahied against San Francisco free agent too. By
- 1:33:42Speaker 2: the way, but it's it's usually one play, right, Like,
- 1:33:44Speaker 2: it's not He's not a volume game fifteen catches.
- 1:33:47Speaker 7: Yeah, it's it's like one big play that they get
- 1:33:50Speaker 7: out of him per game, which is valuable.
- 1:33:51Speaker 2: Sure, Canon and Jersey.
- 1:33:53Speaker 3: Nate Silver has a website where he has a special
- 1:33:56Speaker 3: rating system for quarterbacks and gave may At ninety seven
- 1:33:59Speaker 3: for Sunday, which is an excellent score. He got half
- 1:34:01Speaker 3: his points from his runs, which is unusual as a
- 1:34:04Speaker 3: comparison to Stidham was a sixty, which is worse than
- 1:34:07Speaker 3: a jag. So things might not be so dire for
- 1:34:10Speaker 3: Santa Clara.
- 1:34:11Speaker 2: Yeah, Drake made didn't play well in the game. He
- 1:34:13Speaker 2: ran well, that's it did. He didn't throw the ball
- 1:34:16Speaker 2: well at all in the game. I mean it is
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: what it is. I mean he was less than fifty percent.
- 1:34:20Speaker 2: Let's call it what he threw him for eighty six yards.
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: Yeah, Evan summed it up well, I mean, I just didn't.
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: It's a combination of things. But he wasn't on either.
- 1:34:29Speaker 7: He wasn't ros the advanced metrics, you know, not EPA.
- 1:34:33Speaker 7: My girlfriend she doesn't like it.
- 1:34:35Speaker 2: But but QBR, you know it was epas a.
- 1:34:40Speaker 7: Man, it was a little bit favorable, I would say
- 1:34:44Speaker 7: to Drake because of the rushing.
- 1:34:45Speaker 2: He made well, absolutely, but overall, I.
- 1:34:48Speaker 7: Mean, you can't sit there and say that he played well.
- 1:34:51Speaker 2: I mean, I mean, here's the thing that I can't
- 1:34:53Speaker 2: get past. And I say this to Fred all the time.
- 1:34:56Speaker 2: The quarterbacks job is to move the ball and score points.
- 1:35:00Speaker 2: He did neither. He ran well, but they didn't move
- 1:35:03Speaker 2: the ball at all during the game. They had two
- 1:35:05Speaker 2: hundred yards and they scored three points. That's not that's
- 1:35:09Speaker 2: not good. No, And it's I mean, I'm sorry. I
- 1:35:12Speaker 2: can't just pretend that that's good because they won the game.
- 1:35:15Speaker 2: It's not, No, they need to do better. It's just
- 1:35:18Speaker 2: it's so interesting. Let's just look at that first half.
- 1:35:20Speaker 2: You scored seven points and it was off of their score. Yeah,
- 1:35:23Speaker 2: so that's we got to do better.
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: But we've just we've seen so much of you know,
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: two camps of Drake May and we expected, you know,
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: certain things this year, and I mean, he just played
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: at a level that I never expected. But you know,
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: now you're seeing some of this stuff that's like, this
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: was what I was worried about in year two that
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: I thought we would I just I didn't anticipate that
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: he would play MVP ball for you know, three fifths
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: of their four fifths of the season and then get
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: to the playoffs and then all of a sudden, now
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: you know, and I know that there's other factors, good teams,
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: whether all that, but still and you see from time
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: to time there's throws that all right, there it is,
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: there's the guy, and now we're all I mean, I
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: think pretty much anybody was a page it's right now
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: is just hoping can he get back to that level?
- 1:36:02Speaker 2: And he hasn't shown his age all year, and then
- 1:36:05Speaker 2: like all of a sudden, you get to the playoffs
- 1:36:07Speaker 2: and it's like, oh, you know, it's a little inexperienced.
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: He's just getting speed wet. In the postseason, you don't
- 1:36:11Speaker 2: come yeah, you know, he's made enough plays Henry against
- 1:36:16Speaker 2: the Chargers, the you know, the touchdown to digs against
- 1:36:19Speaker 2: the Texans. I mean those were elite, elite throws.
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: I mean, I remember talking in the summer about, you know,
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: and we've been going back to last year that if
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: we could just get to a place where they're like
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: the ninety three Patriots, the ninety four Patriots, where they
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: win some games down the stretch and you feel like
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: things are trending upward, and maybe they win a game
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: that keeps someone else out of the playoffs, and you know,
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: no matter how it's looked, he's gotten the experience of
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: playing two home playoff games, playing weather games, going on
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: the road to Denver of all places. So you know,
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: no matter how this season ends, he's going into next
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: season with a really full, you know, batch of experience
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: to build off of.
- 1:36:51Speaker 7: You just see the level of sophistication from the defenses
- 1:36:54Speaker 7: that changes in the playoffs, especially when you play really
- 1:36:56Speaker 7: good defenses like they have, where like now all of
- 1:36:59Speaker 7: a sudden there running some really like PhD level coverages
- 1:37:03Speaker 7: and stuff like that, and in the regular season you
- 1:37:05Speaker 7: don't get that as much. You know, it's a more
- 1:37:07Speaker 7: base scheme and more you know, just kind of doing
- 1:37:10Speaker 7: what you do.
- 1:37:11Speaker 4: Now.
- 1:37:11Speaker 7: They're game planning digs out of the game, they're running
- 1:37:14Speaker 7: match coverages, they're zoning one side and manning the other,
- 1:37:18Speaker 7: they're sending pressure from different places, and they're playing good defenses.
- 1:37:21Speaker 7: So they're doing it well and they're executing it well.
- 1:37:24Speaker 7: And I think that that's just a different level.
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: That's what I've liked this defense guy. Just watching these
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: opposing defenses too, just how good they are, how many
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: fast linebackers, how many dominant, athletic, slippery edge rushers there
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: are they just it's it's been a gauntlet.
- 1:37:38Speaker 3: David and la Rosis Madrid Maine. First, So I'd like
- 1:37:41Speaker 3: to thank you for all the content you provide us. Fred,
- 1:37:44Speaker 3: I completely understand how Paul looks up to you, because
- 1:37:46Speaker 3: we can we can feel all the love behind everything
- 1:37:49Speaker 3: you give us.
- 1:37:49Speaker 2: Oh, thank you. You look like that was serious. That's two.
- 1:37:53Speaker 2: That's two semi compliments I got today. There was kind
- 1:37:56Speaker 2: of serious regarding the show.
- 1:37:58Speaker 3: I found your podcast by chance after the Onto Cincinnati
- 1:38:01Speaker 3: loss in KC in twenty fourteen.
- 1:38:03Speaker 2: I've been a loyal listener since that day. Thank you.
- 1:38:06Speaker 3: I just wanted to express how deeply disappointed and concerned
- 1:38:10Speaker 3: I am with the offensive performance during the playoffs. It's
- 1:38:13Speaker 3: not only May's playing, but the calls, the fluffiness of
- 1:38:16Speaker 3: sixty six, and the lack of rhythm during the drives.
- 1:38:19Speaker 2: That's not championship offense.
- 1:38:22Speaker 3: I need a little bit of Fred's enthusiasm, Paul's rational objectivity,
- 1:38:26Speaker 3: Mike's weird pessimism that turns into optimism and Evans tier
- 1:38:30Speaker 3: Pant's explanations to bring me a little up because I
- 1:38:33Speaker 3: can't see us not losing by two scores against a
- 1:38:36Speaker 3: so well rounded team two weeks from now with the
- 1:38:39Speaker 3: inconsistency of our young QB, the OC's play calling, and
- 1:38:43Speaker 3: the softness of Will Campbell on the left side, and
- 1:38:46Speaker 3: I need to start believing.
- 1:38:48Speaker 7: Wow, I would just say, I'm gonna sound snarky here,
- 1:38:52Speaker 7: but the OC's play calling like most of the time,
- 1:38:56Speaker 7: like I couldn't even explain to you what he probably
- 1:38:59Speaker 7: is thinking on some and do you know on play calls,
- 1:39:01Speaker 7: like I would just say, like I understand when things
- 1:39:04Speaker 7: don't work, you tend to dis criticize the play calling,
- 1:39:08Speaker 7: and like there are always a method and a reason
- 1:39:10Speaker 7: to why Josh McDaniels makes the calls that he that
- 1:39:12Speaker 7: he makes. And we can sit here and say, you know,
- 1:39:15Speaker 7: they ran the ball on third and seven. They ran
- 1:39:17Speaker 7: an RPO and they were trying to either catch them
- 1:39:19Speaker 7: or you know, get it to fourth and one or
- 1:39:21Speaker 7: fourth and two where they could go for it. The
- 1:39:23Speaker 7: run got stuffed and they ended up having to punt
- 1:39:25Speaker 7: or kick a long field goal on that drive. You know,
- 1:39:28Speaker 7: like like those calls, like we can sit here and
- 1:39:30Speaker 7: say in hindsight, like this is why. You know, if
- 1:39:34Speaker 7: he could just scheme open receivers against these great defenses
- 1:39:37Speaker 7: all the time, he'd be doing it.
- 1:39:38Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:39:39Speaker 7: And I think the world is Josh McDaniels, So I
- 1:39:41Speaker 7: don't think that this is like, you know, all of
- 1:39:43Speaker 7: a sudden the play caller is is at fault that
- 1:39:45Speaker 7: they're not moving the football.
- 1:39:46Speaker 2: They're playing good teams Austin and Illinois.
- 1:39:49Speaker 3: Earlier this year, it came out that Marine Matt was
- 1:39:51Speaker 3: the only guy in the planet who didn't watch the
- 1:39:53Speaker 3: Super Bowl last year because he went skiing.
- 1:39:55Speaker 2: Poor guy won't be able to go skiing this year. Yes,
- 1:39:58Speaker 2: you got that right.
- 1:40:00Speaker 3: He's working his butt off. So somebody also emailed that
- 1:40:04Speaker 3: last year I took vacation during the Super Bowl week.
- 1:40:07Speaker 3: I don't think it was last year. I think it
- 1:40:09Speaker 3: was two years ago.
- 1:40:10Speaker 2: I vaguely remember because I watched I Want a Super
- 1:40:13Speaker 2: Bowl in Aruba, right it was.
- 1:40:14Speaker 3: It was great. Yeah, But you know what, I don't know,
- 1:40:17Speaker 3: like there was something this year that said I better
- 1:40:19Speaker 3: schedule things outside of February ninth. No, I swear to God,
- 1:40:23Speaker 3: like I have a ready Fields, I have a procedure
- 1:40:25Speaker 3: that I have to do, and I it's it's February
- 1:40:28Speaker 3: twenty fourth, and then I'm not going on vacation until.
- 1:40:31Speaker 2: The first week of April. Wow, so that must be tough.
- 1:40:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:40:35Speaker 3: So no, there was something early on that I just
- 1:40:39Speaker 3: I just better not Yeah. Yeah, the Fields, pretty tingles,
- 1:40:44Speaker 3: Freddy Fields. All right, let's see Gandalf in the Shire or.
- 1:40:49Speaker 2: What can I just interrupt? Freddy Fields? Yeah, you spoiled
- 1:40:53Speaker 2: your undefeated streak. I know, I know by by a
- 1:40:56Speaker 2: vaulty by a vault team the Patriots. Patriots.
- 1:40:59Speaker 3: Yeah they only won by three. Yeah, that's okay. If
- 1:41:05Speaker 3: I'm going to be wrong, I'd rather have them do it. Yeah,
- 1:41:08Speaker 3: I think and a half four and a half, I
- 1:41:09Speaker 3: think for us. So did you can I put you
- 1:41:12Speaker 3: on the honor system? Sure can Seattle and the Rams?
- 1:41:15Speaker 3: Who would you have taken?
- 1:41:18Speaker 2: I think I picked that game, didn't I. I don't
- 1:41:20Speaker 2: think I have picks for you. Yeah, I was here,
- 1:41:23Speaker 2: I don't remember. Maybe I picked Wicked the Rams.
- 1:41:26Speaker 7: I would have picked the Rams. I would have picked
- 1:41:28Speaker 7: the playoff medal of those two guys.
- 1:41:31Speaker 2: And I know you picked the Pats.
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: I thought Stafford was going to do it at the end.
- 1:41:35Speaker 7: Here maybe I just maybe I wrote it, okay, system
- 1:41:38Speaker 7: I was wrong, but I was I did not expect
- 1:41:43Speaker 7: Sam Darnold to play as well as he did in
- 1:41:45Speaker 7: that game.
- 1:41:45Speaker 2: He played really well.
- 1:41:47Speaker 7: Some couple of throws under pressure that you know in
- 1:41:49Speaker 7: drop back throws, not fancy play action passes. At Kubi X,
- 1:41:53Speaker 7: they designed a couple you know, j s n out
- 1:41:55Speaker 7: of the backfield on that touchdown was a well designed place.
- 1:41:58Speaker 2: So good. Yeah, catches, he made you want to catches
- 1:42:02Speaker 2: on the sidelines going across the heard was it on
- 1:42:05Speaker 2: the broadcast.
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: I don't know if it was broadcast highly, but somebody
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: talking about how his shoulders don't move so like when
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: he breaks, And I feel like that's a little bit
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: with Diggs too. It's so hard to get a beat
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: on where they're going, Like they just they have one
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: kind of level one speed and you don't know where
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: it's going.
- 1:42:20Speaker 7: They remind me a lot of each other, now that
- 1:42:21Speaker 7: I've watched more of Diggs. Diggs is a little bit
- 1:42:23Speaker 7: more like, uh, what's the word, like weird with the
- 1:42:26Speaker 7: way he runs routes sometimes. I kind of like the
- 1:42:29Speaker 7: angles that he takes, but there's similar smoothness and like
- 1:42:32Speaker 7: they do. It doesn't look like they're moving that fast,
- 1:42:34Speaker 7: but they're pulling away from guys even though it's unpredictable, unbelievable,
- 1:42:39Speaker 7: Like Jason's hands are unbelievable. You know, he had a
- 1:42:42Speaker 7: one handed catch in the game last week. I saw
- 1:42:44Speaker 7: coming across the field and he just plucks the ball out.
- 1:42:47Speaker 2: He and Pu Nkua. Yeah, such different styles, so reliable
- 1:42:53Speaker 2: that with.
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: A touchdown that Nikoua had to I really felt like
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: the Rams were going to take it though. And that's
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: but that goes back to I think what every Patriot
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: it's going to be telling themselves over the next two
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: weeks is yeah, but if Sam Donald turns into a pumpkin.
- 1:43:04Speaker 2: Like that's what I was thinking that's gonna happen last year,
- 1:43:08Speaker 2: you know, But that that's on the table, I'd like
- 1:43:11Speaker 2: to have more to be able to, you know, hopefully
- 1:43:14Speaker 2: do Like I don't want to have to rely on
- 1:43:15Speaker 2: the other team not playing well right to win.
- 1:43:17Speaker 7: I think that the the way to talk yourself into it.
- 1:43:21Speaker 7: For the Patriots, their defense has just been so darn
- 1:43:24Speaker 7: good and I don't think that this is an offense
- 1:43:26Speaker 7: that is totally unbeatable. Like I think this is an
- 1:43:30Speaker 7: offense that does have you know, it's really one receiver
- 1:43:36Speaker 7: and a good scheme, you know, and like I think
- 1:43:38Speaker 7: that you can.
- 1:43:39Speaker 2: You can beat this offense.
- 1:43:41Speaker 7: And so if Drake May plays more like Drake May
- 1:43:44Speaker 7: and and better conditions and uh maybe some of the
- 1:43:47Speaker 7: things that the Rams have done in the two games
- 1:43:49Speaker 7: against uh San Fran against Seattle that have worked both
- 1:43:53Speaker 7: the Week sixteen game and the week the championship game.
- 1:43:57Speaker 2: I want to ask you something ev like X is
- 1:43:59Speaker 2: and o's wys that, and we'll get to it. Probably.
- 1:44:01Speaker 7: Yeah, I didn't like what I saw x's and nose
- 1:44:03Speaker 7: wise on the NFC Championship game film.
- 1:44:05Speaker 2: So later in the week, maybe you can look at
- 1:44:08Speaker 2: Mike and I were talking with this in the TV show.
- 1:44:10Speaker 2: They played San Francisco three times and completely shut them
- 1:44:13Speaker 2: down all three times. They played the Rams three times
- 1:44:16Speaker 2: and got completely kind of dominated twice. Yep, they had
- 1:44:20Speaker 2: one good defensive performance the one in LA the two
- 1:44:22Speaker 2: in Seattle. The Rams did what they wanted to offensively.
- 1:44:25Speaker 2: Is it a matchup thing? Is it a scheme thing?
- 1:44:28Speaker 4: You know?
- 1:44:28Speaker 2: Maybe? You know, again, we have fifteen minutes left.
- 1:44:31Speaker 7: Maybe I'll just the short answer because I've already watched
- 1:44:34Speaker 7: some of it. The Rams receivers in the NFC Championship
- 1:44:38Speaker 7: game made some incredible plays on the ball, like Puka
- 1:44:41Speaker 7: made some great players.
- 1:44:43Speaker 2: They get DeVante Adams so open.
- 1:44:44Speaker 7: So Adams got opened twice on one on a vertical
- 1:44:49Speaker 7: where he just beat Josh Jobs. The who's Waldo in
- 1:44:52Speaker 7: this game?
- 1:44:52Speaker 3: Right?
- 1:44:52Speaker 7: If you don't want to test Witherspoon, you don't really
- 1:44:55Speaker 7: want to deal with I Minori in the slot. So
- 1:44:57Speaker 7: if you can get Josh Job, who was their third
- 1:44:59Speaker 7: corner on Kishan Boodie on one of those deep routes,
- 1:45:02Speaker 7: maybe you have a chance there. And one of them
- 1:45:04Speaker 7: was on a slant where the guy fell down.
- 1:45:06Speaker 2: Do you remember, by the way, yes, okay, just just
- 1:45:10Speaker 2: checking it. Yeah. I loved him a.
- 1:45:13Speaker 7: Lot, a very good player, and I was wrong about him.
- 1:45:18Speaker 7: The way they're using him is really what the key
- 1:45:21Speaker 7: is though he's basically in Kyle Hamilton's role one of.
- 1:45:24Speaker 2: These just matchup piece safety. Yeah they don't.
- 1:45:29Speaker 7: They don't use him in the deep part of the field,
- 1:45:30Speaker 7: which is where he struggled in college. He's playing in
- 1:45:33Speaker 7: the box or over the slot. He's really their nickel
- 1:45:36Speaker 7: and uh if they play the second most nickel out
- 1:45:39Speaker 7: of any defense in the league because he can hold
- 1:45:41Speaker 7: up so they don't have to put the extra linebacker
- 1:45:43Speaker 7: on the field because he basically is an extra linebacker.
- 1:45:46Speaker 2: He's He's been a really good player for them. H Drake.
- 1:45:49Speaker 3: Drake May May also was carrying two bags with his
- 1:45:53Speaker 3: right arm when exiting the plane talking about this, there
- 1:45:56Speaker 3: maybe injury. Drake may have had a stinger and the
- 1:45:58Speaker 3: cold can aggravate it, but this seems like a non
- 1:46:01Speaker 3: story pushed by a quack trying to get some clicks.
- 1:46:04Speaker 3: I also cast a healing spell on Drake to be safe.
- 1:46:08Speaker 7: I think hands, Yeah, get injury reports this week, which I.
- 1:46:16Speaker 2: Want to That's another one I want to get. We
- 1:46:19Speaker 2: will get one tomorrow. Yes, I thought that was I
- 1:46:21Speaker 2: thought it was treated just like the bye week, where
- 1:46:23Speaker 2: like you, I thought so too.
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: But money's got to start coming in now.
- 1:46:28Speaker 2: We need we need.
- 1:46:29Speaker 7: My sources in the media workroom have informed me that
- 1:46:32Speaker 7: they will have injury reports estimated because they want They
- 1:46:35Speaker 7: won't practice tomorrow.
- 1:46:36Speaker 2: But there will be an injury. They practice Thursday, Thursday, Friday.
- 1:46:41Speaker 3: Spee says Win or lose. The Jets lose, it's either
- 1:46:44Speaker 3: us or Donald, so right.
- 1:46:48Speaker 2: I find that's strange how many Jets fans actually like
- 1:46:51Speaker 2: him and think that he was wronged by now they
- 1:46:53Speaker 2: do know, they get good for him my show. Yeah,
- 1:46:58Speaker 2: Fred Toucher is you know, he's a Jets fan, you know,
- 1:47:01Speaker 2: and he says all the time, like, how many like
- 1:47:03Speaker 2: New York choose you up and spit you out everybody.
- 1:47:06Speaker 2: But for some reason, all of those writers, everybody like
- 1:47:09Speaker 2: back Donald. In that situation. It was Adam Gase that
- 1:47:13Speaker 2: they hated and they thought he was misused. They there
- 1:47:16Speaker 2: was there was a couple of really glaring picks, like
- 1:47:19Speaker 2: I think one of the Jamar Chase Pennicoul draft, they
- 1:47:24Speaker 2: could have had those guys instead. I think they picked
- 1:47:28Speaker 2: Sauce in that draft. You know, I don't know. I
- 1:47:31Speaker 2: know it might be the same draft he's on. The
- 1:47:33Speaker 2: coin was a couple of years later. But it's weird
- 1:47:38Speaker 2: because the Jets hate everything and everybody, and for whatever reason,
- 1:47:41Speaker 2: I guess they didn't really turn on Donald.
- 1:47:44Speaker 7: Well it's hard to I mean, now he's succeeded in
- 1:47:46Speaker 7: Minnesota and in Seattle. Now he's in the same offense,
- 1:47:49Speaker 7: So that that helps, you know, it's it's the same
- 1:47:51Speaker 7: exact scheme, but now it's been with two different teams
- 1:47:55Speaker 7: that he's played at a franchise quarterback level, and it's
- 1:47:58Speaker 7: the Jets that's the the one outlier for Carolina.
- 1:48:01Speaker 2: He didn't play very well.
- 1:48:02Speaker 7: Well he did not, but they were also kind of
- 1:48:04Speaker 7: a dumpster fire.
- 1:48:04Speaker 2: Right he was there. Let's go to do you know?
- 1:48:08Speaker 2: He has one touchdown and nine picks career against the Patriots.
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: Good, there we go.
- 1:48:12Speaker 2: One touchdown the ghost game?
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: Is that like four them?
- 1:48:16Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:48:17Speaker 2: Probably Eddie's in South Carolina? What's up Eddie?
- 1:48:21Speaker 8: Hey, Hey, Abvid. I'm an avid Patriots fan. I've been
- 1:48:27Speaker 8: a fan since nineteen sixty seven when I came to Boston.
- 1:48:31Speaker 8: My first game was at Sinway Park. Yeah, okay, I
- 1:48:37Speaker 8: just think that it's the heart of the champion, you
- 1:48:40Speaker 8: know what I mean. Everybody pops all these numbers and
- 1:48:44Speaker 8: all these analytics and all of that, but it's really
- 1:48:46Speaker 8: the heart of the champion that I believe. The Patriots.
- 1:48:50Speaker 8: You know, we've got our own you know, nobody gives
- 1:48:53Speaker 8: us a chance, and that's where they make the mistake.
- 1:48:56Speaker 8: Because gigs. You got to watch out pay and I
- 1:49:01Speaker 8: think that Mac mac Collins is the next factor. And
- 1:49:08Speaker 8: I'll put Booty up against any of those cornerbacks for
- 1:49:12Speaker 8: contested passes. I just think that our defense is really good.
- 1:49:17Speaker 8: Yeah I know, yeah, I don't have a good defense.
- 1:49:19Speaker 8: But we went up against the league in a boom
- 1:49:22Speaker 8: in the past, you know what I mean. And I'm
- 1:49:24Speaker 8: just and I know it's a different team now.
- 1:49:26Speaker 2: It's the dark side, yes, the dark side.
- 1:49:30Speaker 8: But they're not as strong as the league in a boom.
- 1:49:32Speaker 8: To me, I remember the greatest show on turf. I
- 1:49:36Speaker 8: was more afraid of Matt Stafford, the wiley veteran quarterbacks.
- 1:49:42Speaker 8: They scare me more than Donald. I'm like Paul, I'm
- 1:49:47Speaker 8: waiting for I'm waiting for this kid to turn into
- 1:49:50Speaker 8: a pumpkin.
- 1:49:51Speaker 2: Okay, well, let's hope it happens against us. Donald, I'm
- 1:49:54Speaker 2: not waiting for you.
- 1:49:55Speaker 8: Yeah, man, I'm down here in South Carolina.
- 1:49:57Speaker 2: Hey, how cold is it down there?
- 1:49:59Speaker 4: Ready?
- 1:49:59Speaker 9: You?
- 1:50:00Speaker 8: Well, it's chili, but it's very funny, it's nice. It's
- 1:50:03Speaker 8: not too bad.
- 1:50:04Speaker 2: It was twenty two this morning, twenty two. It was
- 1:50:07Speaker 2: seventeen this morning. On run in shorts for the Youngster.
- 1:50:11Speaker 8: This thing is cold down here coming from Boston, you
- 1:50:14Speaker 8: know what I mean. I lived through the Blitz seventy
- 1:50:17Speaker 8: eight and all that, so all right, nothing down here.
- 1:50:20Speaker 2: Sorry, Hey guys, thanks Eddie, appreciate the call.
- 1:50:23Speaker 7: And I didn't know that that we're being told that
- 1:50:26Speaker 7: the power of friendship is how we're going to win
- 1:50:28Speaker 7: this game, because they're going to need a lot more.
- 1:50:30Speaker 5: Than just that.
- 1:50:31Speaker 2: Just to recap. The pictures were favored in all three
- 1:50:32Speaker 2: of their playoff games, by the way, so no one
- 1:50:35Speaker 2: knowing knew they.
- 1:50:35Speaker 3: So when Donald is going, you know, a certain way
- 1:50:38Speaker 3: on the field, should the fans in that end zone
- 1:50:40Speaker 3: put sheets on with holes and the ghosts seeing ghosts?
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: That was like ghosts, we can we can do it, that,
- 1:50:48Speaker 1: we can do it. I don't think I'm going to
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: the super Bowl with a sheet over me.
- 1:50:51Speaker 2: Now, that's make sure. Probably get in trouble for that.
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm trying to scare Sam Donald.
- 1:51:01Speaker 2: No, you don't get it. It's a bit leave now
- 1:51:06Speaker 2: let's go to uh. I remember Talwinder in California? What's
- 1:51:12Speaker 2: up Towwinder?
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: One of those.
- 1:51:14Speaker 8: What's up fellers?
- 1:51:15Speaker 2: Hey, Mike you know it?
- 1:51:16Speaker 8: Hey, Yeah, where's a super Bowl?
- 1:51:18Speaker 2: Man?
- 1:51:18Speaker 16: Who who's thought about Super Bowl this year? I was
- 1:51:22Speaker 16: just a game yet or on Sunday. Man, they're trying
- 1:51:25Speaker 16: to block us from buying tickets, but they couldn't stop us, obviously.
- 1:51:28Speaker 16: But I'm already party two on Saturday night it was packed.
- 1:51:31Speaker 16: Everybody was so nice, Adamant and Cherry andrews logan, Ryan
- 1:51:35Speaker 16: showed up, Mike Grief. Man, he's just a bunch of pictures.
- 1:51:38Speaker 16: There's an awesome environment, awesome being in Denver. It's a
- 1:51:41Speaker 16: quick weather report for you guys. Take Will Campbell's jahway.
- 1:51:45Speaker 16: But the super Bowl weekend here, man, it's gonna be
- 1:51:47Speaker 16: sixty to like low seventies. They are saying that it's
- 1:51:52Speaker 16: super Bowl awesome. But hopefully that ran gets pushed back
- 1:51:55Speaker 16: so we don't have no rain on stoot ball Sunday.
- 1:51:57Speaker 2: I'd love to get doubted. Yeah, with destined to get
- 1:52:02Speaker 2: rained on game day. I'm in the stands for the
- 1:52:06Speaker 2: first time in my adult life. What was that tell
- 1:52:08Speaker 2: Wanda the.
- 1:52:10Speaker 16: Opening night on Monday. The fact they're allowed to go
- 1:52:12Speaker 16: to that that event, right.
- 1:52:14Speaker 3: They're only allowing two thousand fans in. I think you
- 1:52:17Speaker 3: have to have I'm sure you have to have tickets.
- 1:52:20Speaker 8: Got it?
- 1:52:20Speaker 3: Yeah, it used to be a bigger crowd and they've
- 1:52:23Speaker 3: changed that. It's only two thousand fans going to be
- 1:52:25Speaker 3: in the building.
- 1:52:27Speaker 4: Got it?
- 1:52:27Speaker 16: Make sense?
- 1:52:27Speaker 3: Watch it on TV. It's it's it's it's you don't
- 1:52:31Speaker 3: want to go to that. It's not that great. All right,
- 1:52:35Speaker 3: all right, thanks?
- 1:52:37Speaker 7: I just would like to watch and I'm not totally
- 1:52:39Speaker 7: and there's a lot of the film. Twitter geeks are
- 1:52:42Speaker 7: now debating whether or not weather games are actually good
- 1:52:45Speaker 7: for the sport or not.
- 1:52:47Speaker 2: That whole thing has been going on.
- 1:52:49Speaker 7: I would just like to see Drake may play one
- 1:52:51Speaker 7: playoff game where it's not like a snowstorm or something
- 1:52:54Speaker 7: like there's one solid weather like I almost rather just
- 1:52:57Speaker 7: I wish this game kind of was in a dome,
- 1:52:59Speaker 7: but it's not, it's whatever, But like, just like, can
- 1:53:02Speaker 7: we have him play a game where it's not whether
- 1:53:05Speaker 7: impacted and let's see how he plays.
- 1:53:07Speaker 3: I mean, people are holding the conditions against the Patriots
- 1:53:10Speaker 3: as if, like, you know, it wasn't fair to Denver.
- 1:53:14Speaker 2: Like oh, I don't think I think they're saying it
- 1:53:16Speaker 2: wasn't fair to offense, Like it was very difficult to
- 1:53:19Speaker 2: get offense going in that game. I don't think I've
- 1:53:22Speaker 2: heard it, like, you know, like when Patriots needed a
- 1:53:25Speaker 2: blizzard to beat I mean, I'm not denying that you
- 1:53:29Speaker 2: heard it, because you hear a lot of voices. But
- 1:53:31Speaker 2: I've heard the Bo Nicks thing. Yeah, you know, they
- 1:53:36Speaker 2: really miss Bo Nicks, which I mean, I'm sorry, but
- 1:53:38Speaker 2: that's just logic. They've been missing their starting quarterback in
- 1:53:40Speaker 2: the game they lost ten to seven. Yeah, like, even
- 1:53:42Speaker 2: if they lost thirty seven thirty four, I'll dismiss the
- 1:53:45Speaker 2: starting quarterback. You know, you lost ten to seven, you
- 1:53:49Speaker 2: gave him seven because of the quarterback they actually played.
- 1:53:52Speaker 3: I will, I will gladly sacrifice a game or two
- 1:53:55Speaker 3: like that where the offenses just can't do anything to
- 1:53:58Speaker 3: keep football outdoors.
- 1:54:00Speaker 2: I think I don't love domes, but I hate when
- 1:54:04Speaker 2: the weather impacts the game dramatically.
- 1:54:05Speaker 3: I know, but that's a testiment team to be to
- 1:54:09Speaker 3: be able to adapt and win in any condition.
- 1:54:12Speaker 2: Of those teams adapted, and one team won, right, Like,
- 1:54:15Speaker 2: that's not because of anybody handling anything any better than
- 1:54:17Speaker 2: I don't know. It wasn't. I hear deciding points happened
- 1:54:21Speaker 2: before that the weather became a factor.
- 1:54:23Speaker 7: I hear both sides of this argument. I hear what
- 1:54:25Speaker 7: Fred is saying. I think that for people like me,
- 1:54:30Speaker 7: like watching this film back was like the film you
- 1:54:32Speaker 7: can't watch the well, it wasn't even I can't watch it.
- 1:54:35Speaker 2: It's a rule that if you want to build a dome,
- 1:54:39Speaker 2: I get it for business reasons.
- 1:54:41Speaker 3: You want to use it for other things three sixty five,
- 1:54:43Speaker 3: but it has to have a roof, and during football
- 1:54:45Speaker 3: it has to be open.
- 1:54:46Speaker 7: I am concerned that we are headed towards neutral site
- 1:54:50Speaker 7: championship games.
- 1:54:51Speaker 1: I would kill me.
- 1:54:52Speaker 2: I'll tell you something Mike and I spent a lot
- 1:54:54Speaker 2: of time talking about in the lead up to our
- 1:54:56Speaker 2: pregame show. It would have been even more dramatic had
- 1:55:01Speaker 2: that game taken place here at Jillette Stadium.
- 1:55:03Speaker 4: Oh.
- 1:55:04Speaker 2: I don't know what they would have done. They might
- 1:55:07Speaker 2: have a not being exaggerating, They may have had to postpone.
- 1:55:10Speaker 2: It could have been the first time Yeah yeah, I
- 1:55:13Speaker 2: just first time a playoff game. But they've moved games
- 1:55:16Speaker 2: for snowstorms before. They have for snow Yeah. When the
- 1:55:19Speaker 2: Bills had to play in Detroit against Cleveland a few
- 1:55:21Speaker 2: years was that snow yeah? Okay, I just think it's
- 1:55:25Speaker 2: a I used to never do that before the Eagles
- 1:55:28Speaker 2: got a game moved to a Monday night one year.
- 1:55:31Speaker 3: I mean, I know Miami had a game change because
- 1:55:33Speaker 3: the hurricane.
- 1:55:34Speaker 2: No, I'm talking about snow Philadelphia after a move.
- 1:55:37Speaker 7: The game a few years ago playing in Detroit. I
- 1:55:39Speaker 7: definitely remember that.
- 1:55:40Speaker 2: I don't remember that in Detroit against Cleveland because I think.
- 1:55:43Speaker 7: The Patriots might have played Buffalo shortly after that, and
- 1:55:47Speaker 7: I remember the snow is still.
- 1:55:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I think Paul might be right because not only
- 1:55:50Speaker 3: did it start before the game, but it and it
- 1:55:53Speaker 3: was going to keep going after the game, so you
- 1:55:56Speaker 3: couldn't say, well, it's going to lead you know, halftime,
- 1:55:59Speaker 3: they'll have the roads cleared, like there was no rest.
- 1:56:01Speaker 2: Two feet of snow by the time it was eight
- 1:56:03Speaker 2: o'clock at night. You know, like they would have been
- 1:56:06Speaker 2: playing in the in the middle of a heavy snowstorm
- 1:56:09Speaker 2: and the snow would have already been well underway before
- 1:56:12Speaker 2: sleeping here we were all I just to get people.
- 1:56:15Speaker 2: I just don't like this is not I just don't
- 1:56:18Speaker 2: know if this is.
- 1:56:20Speaker 7: I understand the elements argument, I really do it, just
- 1:56:24Speaker 7: I'm not sure this is the best way to decide
- 1:56:26Speaker 7: who's going to the Super Bowl to play in these
- 1:56:28Speaker 7: types of weather conditions, and it's going to be unpopular
- 1:56:31Speaker 7: to hear.
- 1:56:31Speaker 2: From some people.
- 1:56:33Speaker 1: There's just a line though, like you can handle it.
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: It's a little cold out, it's a little different like
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: a snowstorm where it's you can't even see the lines
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: of the field.
- 1:56:40Speaker 2: Like there's a right, I'm not talking about cold. I
- 1:56:43Speaker 2: mean when when the weather impacts the way that you know,
- 1:56:46Speaker 2: when when you're going three and out on purpose because
- 1:56:49Speaker 2: of the weather. I don't think anybody wants I said,
- 1:56:52Speaker 2: but those these games are kind of rare, you know,
- 1:56:54Speaker 2: where you just can't do anything. If it happened every
- 1:56:57Speaker 2: every year, every game, I think they would probably do something.
- 1:57:00Speaker 6: If it happened a lot.
- 1:57:02Speaker 2: Then it would be bad for the NFL because it
- 1:57:04Speaker 2: just wouldn't be a good.
- 1:57:05Speaker 7: I think I'm just worried now, especially with the extra
- 1:57:08Speaker 7: not an extra round, but an extra game in each conference,
- 1:57:11Speaker 7: with the wild card set up, like is it going
- 1:57:14Speaker 7: to be home field advantage to the divisional round and
- 1:57:17Speaker 7: then like kind of like in college football, then it
- 1:57:19Speaker 7: goes to neutral site in both championship I've talked about
- 1:57:22Speaker 7: Super Bowl.
- 1:57:25Speaker 2: I hate it.
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: I just love it. I mean I've said it all
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: the time. I just think this is the last real
- 1:57:29Speaker 1: football game. The super Bowl is like an exhibition, but
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: you want to have the fans and the home field.
- 1:57:34Speaker 2: Is the AFC East the only division with no teams
- 1:57:36Speaker 2: in a dome.
- 1:57:40Speaker 7: I mean maybe not currently right because they're.
- 1:57:44Speaker 2: North Cleveland, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Baltimore.
- 1:57:48Speaker 7: But they're not going to be all outside for long, right,
- 1:57:51Speaker 7: So right, because Cleveland I think is definitely Buffalo with
- 1:57:55Speaker 7: don't no, it's not no, but there's actually like conflicting,
- 1:57:59Speaker 7: not conflict. But some people think that they just didn't
- 1:58:02Speaker 7: do a dome because it's too expensive.
- 1:58:05Speaker 2: No, they priced it out. They're like another roof would
- 1:58:09Speaker 2: have been you know, we'll just pretend we're tough. Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 1:58:12Speaker 2: So the South and the West both have domes. Vegas
- 1:58:15Speaker 2: and uh ye in Indie yep, so then they uh
- 1:58:20Speaker 2: nor is Dallas considered in Yes, that's definitely right. Yeah,
- 1:58:24Speaker 2: it doesn't have a hole anymore. No, probably only fifteen
- 1:58:28Speaker 2: years ago, Paul, the.
- 1:58:30Speaker 7: NFC West because because so far is not technically.
- 1:58:35Speaker 2: Technically it's an outdoor stadium, right, but it isn't. Oh
- 1:58:38Speaker 2: plus Arizona, Oh, right area. But so is also not outdoors.
- 1:58:42Speaker 2: All right. Yeah, that's going to be it for today's
- 1:58:45Speaker 2: edition of Patriots Unfiltered. We'll be back tomorrow. Freddy's busy,
- 1:58:51Speaker 2: We don't know, we got a lot to do, all right,
