- 0:18Speaker 2: It's like a Spink award or something like that. Sink
- 0:22Speaker 2: not the sprink, not that award.
- 0:25Speaker 3: What is the expected gain on that play? So it's
- 0:28Speaker 3: not average? No, it's an expected This is what the
- 0:31Speaker 3: expected outcome in this situation would be versus what is
- 0:35Speaker 3: the actual outcome of the play?
- 0:36Speaker 4: If I say I expect you to be a nerd,
- 0:39Speaker 4: it's based on.
- 0:40Speaker 1: That you've been a nerd.
- 0:41Speaker 4: Dames Pettigrew says Alex needs a better poker face when
- 0:43Speaker 4: Fred starts calling Evan a nerd.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Shoot, you know what I'm I think Buffalo is going
- 0:49Speaker 2: to win the game.
- 0:50Speaker 5: What Buffalo wins?
- 0:52Speaker 1: Nope?
- 0:53Speaker 2: The Patriots will go into Buffalo, yes, and have an
- 0:56Speaker 2: opportunity to establish themselves as an up and coming team
- 1:00Speaker 2: on the rise. Okay, a playoff contender if you will,
- 1:03Speaker 2: they will do it. The Patriots thirty four, Buffalo thirty three.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Wowy a late scoring drive.
- 1:11Speaker 4: Oh lord, the Bills are four to ozho They're not
- 1:14Speaker 4: going seventeen and Oh somebody's gonna.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Beat Why not us? Let's do it. This is Patriots Unfiltered,

- 1:28Speaker 1: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:30Speaker 4: It is victory Tuesday here at Jiles Stadium, a big
- 1:35Speaker 4: win Sunday night, in front of a national May I say,
- 1:39Speaker 4: worldwide audience, the New England Patriots are on the rise,
- 1:43Speaker 4: because it.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Was you're on the come.
- 1:46Speaker 2: But I think you're right worldwide woni Verso I think
- 1:48Speaker 2: it was.
- 1:48Speaker 4: A universe Yeah, So, I mean what else can we
- 1:53Speaker 4: say that hasn't already been said over?
- 1:55Speaker 1: Just about Drake.
- 1:56Speaker 2: May and I just putting up pants back on since
- 1:59Speaker 2: the postgame shot we were we were all in.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Actually phone lines were stacked at like twelve forty.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Five low energy though low show.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Well, I will say one thing about one negative thing
- 2:09Speaker 2: about the show. Yeah, it was about eight million degrees
- 2:12Speaker 2: in here. Was was a very unseasonably warm day, but
- 2:15Speaker 2: it was really really hot studio.
- 2:17Speaker 1: The fans were a little bit like, I don't little.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Agree and my hat to have an intervention with the fans.
- 2:23Speaker 2: At one point I thought you would make fun of us.
- 2:25Speaker 4: No, I expected like, you know, we're going to the
- 2:29Speaker 4: super Bowl, and no, it's more like, well, you know,
- 2:32Speaker 4: I need to see more.
- 2:36Speaker 1: I don't blame them.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Some people were just cautious by yeah, by nature. Yeah.
- 2:39Speaker 6: And it's and we've been heard a lot before, and
- 2:41Speaker 6: I mean we're trying to think of women a lot before.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Five years title, it's.
- 2:46Speaker 3: Been five years at games, five long years.
- 2:51Speaker 1: But that was I don't want to say it's a
- 2:53Speaker 1: signature win.
- 2:54Speaker 4: I talk about this in the PFW TV show because
- 2:57Speaker 4: I think there's more wins to come. And I think
- 2:59Speaker 4: when I think signature wins, I think of you know,
- 3:02Speaker 4: big things. But this is definitely their best win.
- 3:06Speaker 7: What about a breakout performance?
- 3:07Speaker 2: Absolutely, I think it's absolutely in the breakout Yeah, finish
- 3:12Speaker 2: the sentence, best I think since since Belichick left the
- 3:16Speaker 2: Super Bowl, right, super Bowl fifty three, That is my answer.
- 3:19Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I mean hard to compare to Super
- 3:22Speaker 4: Bowl Brady and Belichick left.
- 3:23Speaker 8: Oh.
- 3:23Speaker 2: I didn't say this is as big as a super Bowl,
- 3:25Speaker 2: but it's the biggest win since. Now you can make
- 3:28Speaker 2: an argument for one of those wins in twenty one,
- 3:30Speaker 2: even the buffal will win in twenty It was Obar
- 3:33Speaker 2: the number one seed.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Yeah, right, and it was obviously under weird circumstance winding,
- 3:36Speaker 3: but the win game in twenty twenty one was a
- 3:39Speaker 3: big deal.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Yeah, it was. It was I think this was bigger.
- 3:42Speaker 1: We were all excited after that, yeah, yeah.
- 3:44Speaker 6: But it was also that nature of that game that
- 3:46Speaker 6: it was like, yeah, but I mean this wasn't yeah,
- 3:49Speaker 6: but this was everything we've been talking about of needing
- 3:52Speaker 6: a quarterback who can do it in any circumstances and
- 3:55Speaker 6: needing a receiver who can do it in any circumstances.
- 3:58Speaker 2: And those were the two biggest things that were on display.
- 4:01Speaker 6: When you get into the bottom half of the league,
- 4:03Speaker 6: that's what you're searching for, trying to find that quarterback.
- 4:05Speaker 6: And Drake May continue to prove each week that he's
- 4:08Speaker 6: looking like that guy.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, that's the.
- 4:09Speaker 4: Number one story is Drake May and his performance, and
- 4:12Speaker 4: it's been getting better every week.
- 4:14Speaker 1: I mean, like what he's doing.
- 4:17Speaker 4: We were saying, you know, well we need to see
- 4:18Speaker 4: that game where it's all on Drake May's shoulders and
- 4:22Speaker 4: he takes the team and leads them to a victory.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Well we got it.
- 4:25Speaker 6: I mean we got it, and I mean almost to
- 4:27Speaker 6: a comical effect with that first player where there's literally
- 4:29Speaker 6: players like draped off of him and he somehow completed
- 4:32Speaker 6: that pass. Great performance by him. I gotta give him credit.
- 4:35Speaker 6: That's what I've been looking for. And you know, if
- 4:37Speaker 6: he continues to have those kind of performances, he's going
- 4:39Speaker 6: to enter that strata of guys that you got better
- 4:42Speaker 6: make sure they're dead. You better make sure the clock
- 4:43Speaker 6: is zero, zero, zero.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Because this guy can make all kinds of plays no
- 4:47Speaker 2: matter how it's been going.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Yep.
- 4:48Speaker 4: And you know he does it with his feet, does
- 4:50Speaker 4: it with his arms, his awareness of where the pressure.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Is coming from, with people in his face.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, it's just he did it all I said.
- 4:59Speaker 6: I mean, I'm sure I don't have plenty to say
- 5:01Speaker 6: about Drake's performance after watching the film, but even like
- 5:03Speaker 6: my little Deuce review, like I just think he was
- 5:06Speaker 6: a little sped up and amped up in the first half,
- 5:09Speaker 6: Like I think it could have been an even better
- 5:10Speaker 6: game for him. I think he left a bunch on
- 5:12Speaker 6: the field in the first half too, So you know,
- 5:14Speaker 6: I think that's for me. The positive coming out is
- 5:17Speaker 6: that there's still road to travel, you know, things to
- 5:19Speaker 6: be conquered.
- 5:20Speaker 1: For him, but what a performance.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Part of that makes me even more enthusiastic about maybe
- 5:25Speaker 2: because I agree. I thought it was a subpar first half.
- 5:28Speaker 2: I thought he looked a little schedish in the pocket.
- 5:31Speaker 2: I didn't think he looked comfortable. I say this all
- 5:34Speaker 2: the time. You know, like a pitcher, any pitcher can
- 5:36Speaker 2: pitch well when he's got his stuff, when everything is working,
- 5:39Speaker 2: what do you do when maybe you didn't get off
- 5:41Speaker 2: to a great start, maybe you weren't necessarily throwing it
- 5:44Speaker 2: where you wanted to throw. I think it says a
- 5:46Speaker 2: lot more about a guy's resilience to come back and
- 5:49Speaker 2: have that second half after a kind of just yeah,
- 5:52Speaker 2: okay first half, and you know the Bills that was
- 5:55Speaker 2: damn me perfect in the second and the Bills.
- 5:57Speaker 4: Came out in the second half and they school and
- 6:00Speaker 4: is like, Okay, you know, we're gonna have to score
- 6:03Speaker 4: some points here, and.
- 6:04Speaker 1: They did right away, and they did they answered right away.
- 6:07Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, that was I was really focused on the
- 6:09Speaker 6: defense yesterday, and I just I kind of fell in
- 6:12Speaker 6: love with the defense a little bit yesterday.
- 6:14Speaker 1: I mean, I'm kind of getting.
- 6:14Speaker 6: It, but they're just so aggressive and I just love
- 6:18Speaker 6: going down like that, like, look, the other team's gonna
- 6:20Speaker 6: make some plays. Josh Allen's really good. Their scheme is
- 6:23Speaker 6: really good. They're gonna get guys open. They're gonna put
- 6:25Speaker 6: your guys in bad positions at times, but at the
- 6:28Speaker 6: end of the day, when it comes down to a
- 6:30Speaker 6: critical third down, you know that Milton Williams and Christian
- 6:33Speaker 6: Barmore are gonna be.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Problems on that play.
- 6:35Speaker 6: And that, to me is the fruition of seeing those
- 6:39Speaker 6: two guys up front, seeing the coverage of Christian Gonzalez
- 6:42Speaker 6: and Carlton Davis and Marcus Jones, who I thought had
- 6:44Speaker 6: the best game of his career at cornerback. I mean,
- 6:46Speaker 6: he's just looked like he Jones. He was sticky, he
- 6:51Speaker 6: was physical, and you can see guys that we've watched
- 6:54Speaker 6: play over the last few years under Belichick and Mayo
- 6:57Speaker 6: playing with the Raabel style.
- 6:58Speaker 1: I mean, Marcus.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Jones is getting in there.
- 7:01Speaker 6: Evan pointed out the one play where Josh kind of
- 7:03Speaker 6: you know, was getting sack, flipped it to Shakir and
- 7:06Speaker 6: then they were like, literally six guys got a hit
- 7:09Speaker 6: on Shakir, And I said, this is a play that
- 7:11Speaker 6: they're going to show in the in the coaches in
- 7:13Speaker 6: the tape, and this is how we want to play
- 7:15Speaker 6: gang tackling everyone around the ball, everyone getting a hit, and.
- 7:18Speaker 2: There's three more guys standing over. I'm ready to jump
- 7:20Speaker 2: in there if they.
- 7:20Speaker 4: And it's so funny about Marcus Jones because you know,
- 7:22Speaker 4: you see him, he's not afraid to play the run,
- 7:25Speaker 4: get his nose in there. And before the game, I
- 7:29Speaker 4: was going down the elevator in the hotel. Door opens
- 7:32Speaker 4: and in comes Marcus Jones, and I remember at that moment.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Thinking, man, he's tiny.
- 7:36Speaker 4: Yeah, like I'm as big as he is, you know,
- 7:39Speaker 4: like I'm obviously wider than he is, and like and
- 7:42Speaker 4: then and then I remember that image. And then the
- 7:45Speaker 4: game comes and I see him make a tackle at
- 7:48Speaker 4: the line on a run plan and I'm like, it's
- 7:50Speaker 4: freaking amazing.
- 7:51Speaker 2: And he's on Ken Coleman downfield making it, you know,
- 7:53Speaker 2: a pass defense.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Most people his sides would be broken in half if
- 7:56Speaker 1: they tried that.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean there's no question his size. He gets
- 7:59Speaker 2: some tards, get it.
- 8:00Speaker 1: And I mean, I think gonna play like that.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Joe Brady saying, perfect, we want Coleman on Marcus Jones.
- 8:05Speaker 1: This is what we're looking for.
- 8:06Speaker 6: But like everybody, they gave some punches, they took some punches.
- 8:09Speaker 6: It's just a lot different style than I'm used to,
- 8:11Speaker 6: and I'm really enjoying it because it's just like we're coming,
- 8:14Speaker 6: We're coming, You're gonna make some plays.
- 8:16Speaker 1: But guess what they're agree.
- 8:17Speaker 2: With your point too about I'd rather if you're gonna lose,
- 8:19Speaker 2: I'd rather lose like that than sitting back. I agree.
- 8:22Speaker 1: You know what I'm doing. Oh, footsteps steps, footsteps in
- 8:26Speaker 1: the AFC. If i'm the Bills fans, fun, If I'm
- 8:30Speaker 1: the Bills fans, I'm.
- 8:31Speaker 2: A little was going to happen.
- 8:34Speaker 4: Now.
- 8:34Speaker 2: It was a bad game for them and it was
- 8:36Speaker 2: all penalties, correct, Josh Allen, that's what and that's what
- 8:38Speaker 2: they're saying, which is what I thought they would.
- 8:40Speaker 3: Say, Allen, like getting there like half a bright.
- 8:45Speaker 2: I'm just telling you this is how I thought that
- 8:47Speaker 2: they would react to a loss.
- 8:48Speaker 4: Yeah, Allen might be a king, but there's a prince
- 8:51Speaker 4: in waiting and he's coming up.
- 8:53Speaker 1: I'd like to know coming up.
- 8:54Speaker 6: When was the last time Buffalo, Baltimore, and Kansas City
- 8:57Speaker 6: all lost in the same week.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, it's just.
- 9:00Speaker 6: Kind of anecdotal, But at the same time, like, I
- 9:03Speaker 6: don't know if the if the power structure is changing
- 9:06Speaker 6: just yet. I mean, it's Week six. All those teams
- 9:08Speaker 6: can get healthy or kick in the gear or whatever.
- 9:11Speaker 6: But at the same time you're.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Seeing I love it, some changes the league.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Perhaps perhaps I'm not.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Ready to be like, oh, everything's read today on Twitter
- 9:19Speaker 2: that the Colts are the best team in the AFC.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Now I don't know why, Like Buffalo lost the game
- 9:23Speaker 2: and suddenly they're not. So is this what we're doing.
- 9:25Speaker 2: We're going to diminish the Pagriots win, but we're going
- 9:29Speaker 2: to diminish the because I'm not doing that. Well, if
- 9:32Speaker 2: I'm not going to sit here and tell you for
- 9:33Speaker 2: an hour and forty five minutes that the Bills lost
- 9:35Speaker 2: the game, No they didn't. The Patriots won it.
- 9:37Speaker 4: No, but if I'm in Indianapolis, I'm thinking my team's pretty.
- 9:40Speaker 2: It wasn't from Indianapolis. It was from Boston.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Oh.
- 9:43Speaker 2: And I'm not going to do I'm not going to
- 9:44Speaker 2: dump on this win because I don't think Buffalo is
- 9:47Speaker 2: still the best team in AFC. No, no, no, the
- 9:49Speaker 2: Patriots went into the best team in the ANFC and
- 9:52Speaker 2: beat them in Buffalo. No, they said the Colts are
- 9:56Speaker 2: better than Buffalo.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Now, well they're playing better than Buffalo.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Okay, I'm not I'm not doing it. I'm not telling listen.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Did I think Buffalo played a great game the other night? No,
- 10:06Speaker 2: I don't, But I think the Patriots play made them
- 10:09Speaker 2: sure not look as good as they can can look.
- 10:11Speaker 1: They did, all right.
- 10:12Speaker 6: I mean, just to continue on that line, like, what
- 10:14Speaker 6: really impressed me about the defense is that we talked
- 10:16Speaker 6: last week about this new Buffalo offense where they're not
- 10:19Speaker 6: afraid to get under center, they're not afraid to put
- 10:21Speaker 6: three tight ends on the field and just try to
- 10:23Speaker 6: run it right down your throat. Their biggest game was
- 10:25Speaker 6: nine yards. I mean they held James Cook in checking
- 10:28Speaker 6: that game. I had questions about this run defense, but overall,
- 10:31Speaker 6: I'd say, and I'm talking about Cook, if.
- 10:33Speaker 2: You're going to go to the longest run and no, no, no,
- 10:35Speaker 2: I'm looking for something else. But something just popped into
- 10:39Speaker 2: my head. But to me, that's no they run defense.
- 10:41Speaker 1: That's a lot.
- 10:42Speaker 6: And then it proved to me someone who maybe a
- 10:44Speaker 6: little bit of a doubter maybe felt like some of
- 10:45Speaker 6: this has been circumstantial, but you know, even Mina Kimes
- 10:48Speaker 6: pointed out Kiris Tonga playing really well as a complementary
- 10:52Speaker 6: at least, you know, right, so some national attention, you know.
- 10:57Speaker 6: So I just I I really was excited watching this
- 11:00Speaker 6: defense and and knowing too that they haven't really had
- 11:03Speaker 6: a full chance to really lock all their guys in yet.
- 11:06Speaker 6: There are still some spots that are probably gonna continue
- 11:09Speaker 6: to grow and be upgraded.
- 11:10Speaker 1: You did it without.
- 11:11Speaker 6: Calebon Chase on anyway, So just a really good performance
- 11:14Speaker 6: for them going. You know, it's like Bill's think, hey,
- 11:16Speaker 6: we're just gonna do we do We're gonna smash the
- 11:18Speaker 6: ball right down your mouth, you light Patriots defense, and
- 11:21Speaker 6: Patriots defense wasn't having any of it. And I thought
- 11:23Speaker 6: they brought the physicality. I mean, you know, Mina pointed
- 11:26Speaker 6: out Tonga going against the interior line.
- 11:30Speaker 3: He is like, can they need to extend that guy?
- 11:33Speaker 3: He's on a one year contract and the rest of
- 11:35Speaker 3: the league is going to find out how good he is,
- 11:37Speaker 3: but not if they haven't already.
- 11:39Speaker 7: And I mean he's he's been freaking awesome.
- 11:42Speaker 6: It gives the rotation Williams and Barmore, but they can
- 11:45Speaker 6: put him out there on the field with those guys.
- 11:47Speaker 3: Changes every time, just firing his hands into the into
- 11:51Speaker 3: the tackle or to the guard's chest and just walking
- 11:54Speaker 3: him back into the line of scrimmage. And uh, you know,
- 11:57Speaker 3: he made a play an outside zone where he ran
- 11:59Speaker 3: like fifteen yards across the field and tackle the guy
- 12:03Speaker 3: on a run play. I mean, he's just he's been
- 12:06Speaker 3: I had no idea that he was this good when
- 12:09Speaker 3: they signed him, and he's been even better than anybody
- 12:12Speaker 3: could have possibly expected. And at this point, it's like,
- 12:14Speaker 3: how often could they possibly play him?
- 12:17Speaker 7: Right?
- 12:17Speaker 3: I mean, he's a big dude, so you don't want
- 12:19Speaker 3: to play overwork him. But he's been terrific. You know,
- 12:23Speaker 3: they're doing things very differently in the run defense than
- 12:27Speaker 3: what we're used to seeing with Belichick. You know, they're
- 12:29Speaker 3: not set in the edge the same way, they're not
- 12:32Speaker 3: building a wall.
- 12:32Speaker 7: They're not too gapping, and that's.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Like been a little bit of my brain is like
- 12:38Speaker 3: in a little bit of a pretzel with him, because
- 12:39Speaker 3: it's watching something that's very different from what they've did
- 12:42Speaker 3: in the past. So they're really trying to knife inside
- 12:47Speaker 3: and do what's called spilling. So they want to get
- 12:49Speaker 3: inside the inside gaps covered, and they actually want.
- 12:53Speaker 7: The ball to bounce outside.
- 12:54Speaker 3: They want to try to force the ball to the
- 12:57Speaker 3: numbers and to outside the tackles, and then they just
- 13:00Speaker 3: kind of chase the guy down into the line, into
- 13:02Speaker 3: the sideline. So even like there might be sometimes when
- 13:06Speaker 3: you're watching the game and it feels like they gave
- 13:09Speaker 3: up the edge, but that's by design that they are
- 13:11Speaker 3: trying to funnel the ball.
- 13:13Speaker 7: Yeah, in that.
- 13:13Speaker 4: Time, I noticed a couple of times, you know, they
- 13:16Speaker 4: would get great push up and you know, Allan would
- 13:19Speaker 4: still be able to slip through, you know for a game,
- 13:21Speaker 4: but you'll take that because you've disrupted the play that
- 13:25Speaker 4: they had in mind. You're forcing him to run, and
- 13:27Speaker 4: you know you're hoping the linebackers can fill in there
- 13:30Speaker 4: and and minimize you know, the gain after that. But yeah,
- 13:33Speaker 4: I mean they're winning up front. Yeah, they're winning up front.
- 13:37Speaker 3: They had a lot of really good spy reps in
- 13:40Speaker 3: this game too, where they pushed Alan and forced him
- 13:43Speaker 3: to make a throw, Like you don't want him to
- 13:46Speaker 3: be able to run, and you don't want him to
- 13:47Speaker 3: have all day back there to extend plays. So they
- 13:50Speaker 3: were pressuring and then they would have like Spulane or
- 13:52Speaker 3: Ellis or Landry or someone like that was a signed
- 13:55Speaker 3: to spy him, and they did a really nice job
- 13:58Speaker 3: of when he broke the pocket, they they made him
- 14:00Speaker 3: throw the ball and they didn't allow him to just
- 14:02Speaker 3: sit there for five six seconds and hold it and
- 14:05Speaker 3: hold it and hold it. And so they did a
- 14:08Speaker 3: nice job of that as well. Defensively in this game,
- 14:11Speaker 3: I just I'd say, coming into the game, I wanted
- 14:14Speaker 3: them to play man coverage like that. I just didn't
- 14:16Speaker 3: think the Bills receivers on the outside, you know, Coleman,
- 14:19Speaker 3: you know guys like that, we're going to be able
- 14:22Speaker 3: to consistently beat Carlton Davis and Christian Gonzalez. And they
- 14:25Speaker 3: played forty one percent man coverage. I mean, Alan definitely
- 14:29Speaker 3: had his moments, especially the kincaid in man coverage, but
- 14:33Speaker 3: the Patriots were able to win a bunch of rounds.
- 14:35Speaker 7: Doing it that way.
- 14:36Speaker 3: And then I think the biggest thing with Alan when
- 14:38Speaker 3: you get him to like revert back to playing playground
- 14:42Speaker 3: football and trying to play out of structure, he makes mistakes.
- 14:46Speaker 3: He doesn't he's not as clean as when he just
- 14:48Speaker 3: sits in the pocket and methodically tears you up. So
- 14:51Speaker 3: they really got him to kind of be a little
- 14:54Speaker 3: bit chaotic in this game, and he was leaving the
- 14:57Speaker 3: pocket prematurely, and he looked like the court back that
- 15:00Speaker 3: was a little bit sped up and was kind of
- 15:03Speaker 3: feeling pressure and things like that, And that, to me
- 15:06Speaker 3: is the blueprint against him. When when you sit back
- 15:10Speaker 3: and just let him pick you apart, it's really tough.
- 15:13Speaker 2: I mean, I thought Ellis did a good job early
- 15:16Speaker 2: in the game with that stuff. Mike and I talked
- 15:19Speaker 2: about in a post game a little bit. I thought
- 15:20Speaker 2: they did a good job. One of the things that
- 15:23Speaker 2: I was concerned about is yet, it's one thing to
- 15:25Speaker 2: have a spy. Can that spy then get him to
- 15:27Speaker 2: the ground. And I thought Ellis early in the game
- 15:29Speaker 2: established that, Yeah, he's gonna I think I think Allen
- 15:34Speaker 2: was better than that. I think he made one bad threat.
- 15:36Speaker 2: He said it. He made a horrific throw. He should
- 15:39Speaker 2: have led Shakira and he missed him by a mile
- 15:42Speaker 2: and threw the pick to Marcus Jones. But that covered
- 15:46Speaker 2: the coverage I thought was pretty good around the game.
- 15:50Speaker 2: I didn't see a lot of Yeah, I didn't see
- 15:52Speaker 2: like a lot of breakdowns. Now, I think the biggest
- 15:57Speaker 2: problem for Buffalo offensively is I do think that the
- 16:01Speaker 2: Patriots sort of did what you guys said and wanted
- 16:04Speaker 2: to take away the run and then but they just
- 16:06Speaker 2: kept going backwards. And I don't care how good you are,
- 16:09Speaker 2: when you consistently get holding calls on drives, you're gonna
- 16:12Speaker 2: go backwards and you're not gonna convert. Now, they only
- 16:15Speaker 2: punted twice the whole game, but it's hard to score
- 16:19Speaker 2: when you consistently go the wrong way. And I think
- 16:23Speaker 2: that Allen, to Evan's point, wasn't Razor sharp. I mean,
- 16:26Speaker 2: I think he was good, but not Allen not superman.
- 16:30Speaker 2: He didn't have a lot of huge plays with his legs.
- 16:32Speaker 2: He had some good, good runs. I thought he missed
- 16:34Speaker 2: some opportunities, especially the last third down, the first really
- 16:40Speaker 2: good play by Gonso when he covered Keon Kolmer for
- 16:42Speaker 2: about twenty minutes. I think if he just had run there,
- 16:46Speaker 2: he probably gets somewhere between five seven yards and sets
- 16:49Speaker 2: up a much more manageable fourth down that now you
- 16:52Speaker 2: can run to get if you want to, or you could,
- 16:57Speaker 2: you know, sort of, I mean the second down, second
- 16:59Speaker 2: it was second and third down not third and fourth
- 17:01Speaker 2: down check that, so it would have set up a
- 17:03Speaker 2: much more manageable third down. And then now it's third
- 17:06Speaker 2: and ten and he kind of had to make that
- 17:08Speaker 2: throw to Shakir that Gonzo makes the incredible dive over
- 17:13Speaker 2: the top pick not a pass defense.
- 17:17Speaker 1: So that was just close, wasn't it.
- 17:20Speaker 2: It was really close, but I like.
- 17:22Speaker 3: It looked like a penalty, but it was closer than
- 17:24Speaker 3: I thought.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I think he got there early. But that's very
- 17:28Speaker 2: consistent with the way they call that is and it
- 17:31Speaker 2: drives me crazy. Like the Kishawn booty, we're running thirty
- 17:34Speaker 2: five yards down the field and we're going like this
- 17:36Speaker 2: with our arms. Well, that's a penalty. And given a
- 17:38Speaker 2: team forty yards, you run through a guy and maybe
- 17:41Speaker 2: you get there early and it completely eliminates any chance
- 17:44Speaker 2: that that pass is getting completed. And it's fine, and
- 17:47Speaker 2: that's but that's the way they do it. I know that, Like,
- 17:49Speaker 2: this is not a homer call, like I've seen that
- 17:52Speaker 2: not called more often than not when they get there
- 17:54Speaker 2: maybe a tick early. Like that's that's the way the
- 17:58Speaker 2: game is being played. I think that's pretty consistent. Now
- 18:02Speaker 2: that said, the officiating almost ruined what I thought was
- 18:05Speaker 2: a tremendous night, like just all around, Like, do we
- 18:08Speaker 2: really need all these alignment penalties on both teams? It
- 18:11Speaker 2: didn't benefit one team with the other. I'm not crying
- 18:14Speaker 2: about the calls. Just no one came to see Sean
- 18:19Speaker 2: about the rest, but no one came to see Sean Hawk.
- 18:22Speaker 2: I understand what no one's saying. The penalty has declined
- 18:27Speaker 2: because the results of the Like he's just so insufferable.
- 18:32Speaker 4: So we're all excited, big win, but you got to
- 18:36Speaker 4: build on it. And in order to build on it,
- 18:39Speaker 4: we got a There's a lot of things that need
- 18:41Speaker 4: to be cleaned up in this game, so let's.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Talk about some of those. Find a running game. Yeah,
- 18:46Speaker 1: well that's the that's the thing.
- 18:47Speaker 2: You know, everything we said about the run defense the opposite, even.
- 18:51Speaker 4: If Remondre didn't fumble. Now, with Gibson out for the season,
- 18:55Speaker 4: it's announced. I guess he has a torn a c
- 18:58Speaker 4: l We.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Need we need help here.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:01Speaker 1: Uh, and so what do you do.
- 19:02Speaker 4: You can bring up Jennings from the practice squad, but
- 19:06Speaker 4: do you go out and get yourself a veteran I
- 19:09Speaker 4: got We got a lot of emails, and we don't
- 19:11Speaker 4: have to read all of them al but Camarah might
- 19:15Speaker 4: be available. And you know, but what do you go
- 19:20Speaker 4: all out and try to bring in some help or
- 19:22Speaker 4: do you say we're gonna We're gonna do it with
- 19:25Speaker 4: what we've got.
- 19:26Speaker 6: I think you got to bring somebody in. I don't
- 19:28Speaker 6: know if Kamara will be the guy. I mean, i'd
- 19:30Speaker 6: be looking for somebody who can take early down carries.
- 19:32Speaker 6: I think he's more of a just a third down back,
- 19:33Speaker 6: which I would hope that that's a good point can develop,
- 19:37Speaker 6: you know, Henderson into And you know, honestly, I had
- 19:39Speaker 6: a thought kind of how to deal with Romandre. Do
- 19:43Speaker 6: you kind of make him the third down back at
- 19:44Speaker 6: some point? I mean, he's great at pass protection, he
- 19:46Speaker 6: can catch the ball. It would reduce his carries. But
- 19:48Speaker 6: if you are that concern, like I just don't get
- 19:51Speaker 6: the people who are like, well, we have to cut
- 19:52Speaker 6: him tomorrow and then Travian Henderson will just be the
- 19:54Speaker 6: one running back and that'll that'll work out great.
- 19:56Speaker 1: They got to find another person.
- 19:58Speaker 6: I don't know if Cherrell Jennings is the answer. I
- 20:00Speaker 6: liked him in the summer two years ago, didn't really
- 20:03Speaker 6: notice him much this year, but he is that kind
- 20:05Speaker 6: of guy. He runs hard. He's kind of a hard
- 20:07Speaker 6: charger Sode. I wouldn't be opposed to some young, fresh
- 20:10Speaker 6: legs that might give you a little bit more potential
- 20:12Speaker 6: sense of optimism, whereas if you bring in Zach Moss
- 20:15Speaker 6: or Ezekiel Elliott, you kind of know what you're getting.
- 20:18Speaker 6: But I think at this point they just need a body,
- 20:20Speaker 6: so they're going to have to They're going to have
- 20:21Speaker 6: to bring somebody in.
- 20:22Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean they need a body.
- 20:23Speaker 3: But like Grimandre and Treveon Henderson are going to be
- 20:27Speaker 3: a platoon now, and that's going to be your backfield. Like,
- 20:30Speaker 3: I don't think you're getting anybody at this time of
- 20:32Speaker 3: year that's going to be better than either of those
- 20:34Speaker 3: two guys. So you could bring in somebody that's currently
- 20:38Speaker 3: a free agent. You know that there are a couple
- 20:40Speaker 3: of guys, you know, Moss is one of them. You
- 20:42Speaker 3: know Jamichael Hasty is on the Dolphins practice squad. I
- 20:45Speaker 3: think it is, and you know, maybe he's a guy
- 20:47Speaker 3: that can come in. He's returned kickoffs a little bit
- 20:50Speaker 3: in his career as well, which I think is a sneaky,
- 20:52Speaker 3: bigger deal in a lot of ways than you know
- 20:55Speaker 3: what they're going to lose on offense with Gibson is
- 20:58Speaker 3: that they now have a whole you know, Gibson week
- 21:02Speaker 3: two is a Special Teams Player of the Week because
- 21:04Speaker 3: of what he did returning kickoffs and every single time
- 21:07Speaker 3: they booted it to Remandre on Sunday night, I held
- 21:10Speaker 3: my breath thinking, oh God, now you know, really quickly
- 21:14Speaker 3: they actually did something cool with the Special Teams to
- 21:17Speaker 3: goat the Bills to kicking it to Henderson instead of Remandre.
- 21:21Speaker 3: I think it was the last kickoff of the game.
- 21:23Speaker 3: They right before they kicked the ball, they switched so
- 21:28Speaker 3: Henderson and Remandre like right before they lined up to
- 21:32Speaker 3: kick it, the Bills had everything set and then they
- 21:35Speaker 3: were about to kick it and the two of them
- 21:37Speaker 3: switched places. And so then they actually godd the Bills
- 21:40Speaker 3: into kicking it to Henderson instead of kicking it to Remandre.
- 21:43Speaker 3: So not only just because Henderson's you know, got better speed,
- 21:47Speaker 3: but I think that the Patriots were thinking, oh.
- 21:49Speaker 7: God, let's not get the ball.
- 21:51Speaker 2: But even if Stevenson had no ball security issues, I
- 21:54Speaker 2: don't think his running style is overly conducive to that
- 21:58Speaker 2: kick return play. He's more of a bruiser than a burner.
- 22:02Speaker 7: Yep, So I think that.
- 22:04Speaker 3: You know, Gibson was already playing like a reduced role
- 22:08Speaker 3: on offense and it was really starting to become Stevenson
- 22:12Speaker 3: and Henderson's backfield anyways, but the kickoff thing is sneaky
- 22:16Speaker 3: important because they need every big play they can.
- 22:19Speaker 4: Get, and aside from that last one they were going to,
- 22:22Speaker 4: they were going to Remondre see okay, hold on to it.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Thank god he did.
- 22:27Speaker 3: Yeah, So that that's I think it again. It's just,
- 22:30Speaker 3: you know, it's something that immediately impacted that game on
- 22:34Speaker 3: Sunday night when Gibson got hurt. Was that now Remandre
- 22:37Speaker 3: has to return kickoff.
- 22:38Speaker 2: So I brought up and I don't know if we
- 22:39Speaker 2: talked about it on the show, Mike, but it's just like,
- 22:42Speaker 2: why can't my guy do it? Marcus Marcus Jones, and
- 22:45Speaker 2: I know he's smaller. I know they look at that
- 22:47Speaker 2: as more of like a running back return. They do
- 22:49Speaker 2: it now, but the Giants have Olshefski doing it, so
- 22:51Speaker 2: but I you know, but a lot of teams do,
- 22:54Speaker 2: and I get it because it's more of it. It's
- 22:57Speaker 2: turned into more of like we're looking for a crew
- 22:59Speaker 2: to get through a running play, you might have to
- 23:01Speaker 2: break through some some congestion. But I just think that
- 23:06Speaker 2: he's so electric with the ball in his hands.
- 23:08Speaker 3: Why not they were they were worried in the past
- 23:11Speaker 3: because we've asked them in the past about this, uh,
- 23:14Speaker 3: you know, Springer last year and still the same coordinator
- 23:18Speaker 3: about durability because that is such a high impact play,
- 23:22Speaker 3: and they they've Springer has talked in the past about
- 23:25Speaker 3: wanting a bigger body type. Now Henderson is not exactly
- 23:28Speaker 3: a big body either, but he's a little bit bigger
- 23:30Speaker 3: and a little bit you know, meteor than the guy
- 23:33Speaker 3: like Roman Marcus Jones. So that that was his response
- 23:36Speaker 3: because last year we were all wondering, why isn't Marcus
- 23:40Speaker 3: Jones returning kickoffs? Now they also mentioned, you know, he's
- 23:43Speaker 3: already on punt He's already a full time defensive player,
- 23:47Speaker 3: and so it's another thing on his plate to put
- 23:49Speaker 3: him on kickoff as well. But I think it's mostly
- 23:52Speaker 3: about a body type thing that they're worried he's going
- 23:55Speaker 3: to get hurt.
- 23:55Speaker 2: I do think it that's the way they look at it.
- 23:57Speaker 2: As the body type.
- 23:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, if you do put him there, you
- 24:00Speaker 4: might get a lot more touchbacks because teams like, we're
- 24:03Speaker 4: not going to bother with him.
- 24:06Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 24:06Speaker 6: I mean, that's interesting how they how they might approach it,
- 24:08Speaker 6: or they would say we're gonna go kill this little guy.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Could be I just don't know why you're I mean,
- 24:14Speaker 2: I I just don't think there's that much more risk.
- 24:17Speaker 2: The durability thing makes sense to me. And in terms
- 24:21Speaker 2: of workload, what Evan said about workload, that's adding another
- 24:25Speaker 2: three or four touches again, like that's that that's significant.
- 24:28Speaker 2: I just think that your chances of getting lit up
- 24:30Speaker 2: on a punch or just as much as that was.
- 24:35Speaker 3: I think a combination like you just laid out, like
- 24:37Speaker 3: it's the fact that now he's going to have another
- 24:41Speaker 3: exposure to possibly getting hurt.
- 24:43Speaker 1: And that's yeah.
- 24:44Speaker 2: I mean that that's undeniable. The more you give a guy,
- 24:47Speaker 2: the more chances he has to break down. He has,
- 24:49Speaker 2: he has been a guy who's broken down.
- 24:51Speaker 4: So the running game is something we need to look at.
- 24:55Speaker 4: A lot of penalties for the Patriots, A couple of
- 24:57Speaker 4: really boneheaded ones the second half by some young guys,
- 25:02Speaker 4: the roughing the passer one though I looked at that
- 25:05Speaker 4: over note that wasn't as egregious as some people said
- 25:08Speaker 4: it was. He was he was coming off his block,
- 25:12Speaker 4: and it was late, it was high, it was it
- 25:15Speaker 4: was follow through barely late, barely late.
- 25:18Speaker 2: I mean, I'm just going to just tell you, like,
- 25:21Speaker 2: I've never ever heard Scott Zolac not complain on a
- 25:25Speaker 2: call like that. All four of those penalties they played,
- 25:28Speaker 2: and he was like, it's a good call.
- 25:29Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I'm not saying I'm saying it was a call.
- 25:31Speaker 2: I couldn't believe it. I thought I was looking for
- 25:33Speaker 2: somebody else.
- 25:34Speaker 1: I wouldn't.
- 25:34Speaker 4: I don't call it. I don't call it on the
- 25:36Speaker 4: level of the Farmer one.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Well, the Farmer one was one of the more egregients,
- 25:40Speaker 2: cheap players I've ever seen. When I was looking up
- 25:43Speaker 2: when you were talking about James Cook, Mike, what I
- 25:45Speaker 2: actually was looking up is in my mind's eye. I
- 25:47Speaker 2: don't remember Cook being back in the game. He did
- 25:49Speaker 2: have one other play, yeah, after that. I think he
- 25:52Speaker 2: might have been concussed on that though, really he got
- 25:54Speaker 2: ragged on.
- 25:55Speaker 3: There has to be something like he had to have
- 25:57Speaker 3: like not seen him go down, He had.
- 25:59Speaker 1: To have held whistle.
- 26:00Speaker 2: He thought that he was gonna that he was going
- 26:03Speaker 2: to pitch the ball back to the ballenty Yeah then,
- 26:05Speaker 2: but I don't care what you thought.
- 26:07Speaker 1: You have to be more aware.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Like, let's just say, for argument's sake, his knee was
- 26:11Speaker 2: barely off the ground. That might have been a penalty anyway.
- 26:14Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 26:15Speaker 3: No, those two penalties, and obviously the schooler one on
- 26:18Speaker 3: the sideline too, But that was in particular getting the
- 26:21Speaker 3: two penalties that gave him thirty of their like seventy
- 26:24Speaker 3: five yards on that drive. Like that's the crap that
- 26:26Speaker 3: gets you beat right, Like, you can't. I'm not a
- 26:29Speaker 3: big penalties guy. Everybody knows that. Like, I don't really
- 26:32Speaker 3: like get all worked up about penalties, but when you
- 26:35Speaker 3: do penalty with penalties like that, you cannot have like that.
- 26:39Speaker 3: That is, they handed the Bills a touchdown drive but
- 26:42Speaker 3: by getting new penalties there.
- 26:44Speaker 2: But the Bills aren't talking about that. Those ones are. Well,
- 26:47Speaker 2: it's a little different when you're complaining about a call
- 26:49Speaker 2: and that and those calls no one's complaining about. I'll
- 26:52Speaker 2: gott to be honest with you. You got I didn't
- 26:54Speaker 2: think the schooler one was that egregious.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Oh no, it was.
- 26:57Speaker 2: I thought so he was out of bounds.
- 26:59Speaker 1: I know it was, but he was like three steps
- 27:01Speaker 1: out about he barely hit him. Billy tapped, But you
- 27:04Speaker 1: just said you can't risk it. I know, what are
- 27:06Speaker 1: you doing?
- 27:07Speaker 3: Older one like Don and I I'm with Paul, like,
- 27:09Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 27:10Speaker 2: I didn't think that was in the category.
- 27:12Speaker 7: The other two, the Farmer and Durden ones like that.
- 27:15Speaker 2: The other two are going to be fine.
- 27:16Speaker 7: That's half the yards on the drive.
- 27:20Speaker 2: I just feel like they were getting those.
- 27:22Speaker 4: Maybe I don't one it's it wasn't as bad as
- 27:25Speaker 4: people said.
- 27:26Speaker 7: Still can't you can't you can't give them an option that.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Look at it again, he didn't seven times they launched.
- 27:33Speaker 2: He was already I don't care that he didn't launch him.
- 27:36Speaker 2: They had finished, and you're just gonna say, and he
- 27:38Speaker 2: didn't hit him, that wasn't that agregious?
- 27:40Speaker 3: Just not gonna let me talk to you know, he
- 27:41Speaker 3: doesn't think it was god like?
- 27:43Speaker 2: Can we just say like it was a great woman
- 27:45Speaker 2: and just move on? Like like why do we have
- 27:47Speaker 2: to be.
- 27:48Speaker 4: Like, Okay, we're not going to talk about the game
- 27:50Speaker 4: like bad play.
- 27:51Speaker 2: We're gonna we're gonna break down that play with all
- 27:53Speaker 2: the things that Drake made and Stefan Diggs did.
- 27:55Speaker 1: I'm going to give my opinion on the play if
- 27:57Speaker 1: you let me, it's fine. Is that Okay?
- 28:01Speaker 4: He was coming off his block and leaning forward and
- 28:04Speaker 4: he was already in that direction, and yes his helmet
- 28:07Speaker 4: made contact, but he didn't lean forward with his head
- 28:09Speaker 4: or anything. He was already It was like the leaning
- 28:12Speaker 4: Tower of Pisa and he and he hit him, and
- 28:15Speaker 4: yes it's a penalty, but it wasn't like, oh, what
- 28:18Speaker 4: an idiot. I thought his momentum was already going in
- 28:21Speaker 4: that direction.
- 28:22Speaker 1: I didn't think it was that bad.
- 28:23Speaker 2: I can see, not what an idiot.
- 28:25Speaker 1: I can see. Yeah, I can see that.
- 28:27Speaker 2: I mean, that's but that's one of those plays.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Was an idiot.
- 28:30Speaker 6: No, that's just one of those NFL where the pass
- 28:33Speaker 6: rushers are coming hard at the quarterback. It's that throws
- 28:35Speaker 6: out and it's it's just, yeah, I can't imagine when
- 28:37Speaker 6: it's like going full speed right fighting through a guy
- 28:40Speaker 6: and you look up and then like you have a
- 28:41Speaker 6: millisecond to like somehow avoid the hit.
- 28:44Speaker 4: Sometimes it's just I yeah, I thought it was really
- 28:47Speaker 4: hard for him to avoid that one.
- 28:49Speaker 1: I really do. But that's just my opinion. That's just
- 28:52Speaker 1: my opinion.
- 28:53Speaker 2: No one else is allowed to have one.
- 28:55Speaker 4: Well, if if you let me talk, I can have one.
- 28:58Speaker 4: That's all I'm saying is can I just.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Give it seven times? You didn't think it was a penalty?
- 29:03Speaker 2: I mean, I get it.
- 29:03Speaker 1: I'm trying to explain what I saw and you won't
- 29:06Speaker 1: let me.
- 29:07Speaker 2: We let you say it like three different times. Can
- 29:09Speaker 2: we just move on?
- 29:12Speaker 1: All right?
- 29:12Speaker 2: How many times are you going to say he didn't
- 29:14Speaker 2: hit him in the head, he didn't hit him late,
- 29:16Speaker 2: and he didn't land on ocause he did all three
- 29:18Speaker 2: of those?
- 29:18Speaker 1: Okay, calm down.
- 29:21Speaker 4: Then a lot of people want to know, Paul, what
- 29:24Speaker 4: you thought about the clock management, you know, when it
- 29:28Speaker 4: comes to Rabel the.
- 29:29Speaker 1: End of the first half.
- 29:30Speaker 3: Yeah, these are the things they were talking about, you know,
- 29:32Speaker 3: And I think kids still opened by the way, Like,
- 29:35Speaker 3: if we want to talk.
- 29:36Speaker 2: About it, I want to talk about going to wait
- 29:38Speaker 2: till Wednesday. Before that, I don't want to I didn't
- 29:41Speaker 2: want to yuck you young today.
- 29:42Speaker 4: I also want to Yeah, I also want to talk
- 29:44Speaker 4: about yes, so at the end of the first half
- 29:47Speaker 4: that and also going not going forward on what's.
- 29:50Speaker 2: Fourth clock management at the end of the first half,
- 29:53Speaker 2: and the first half interest yesterday, so I blew it yesterday.
- 29:58Speaker 7: They were so disappointed.
- 30:00Speaker 2: No, because I wanted to talk to Mike about it,
- 30:03Speaker 2: and we I'm not going to make fun of the
- 30:06Speaker 2: people like I normally do. There were some just really
- 30:10Speaker 2: every time we were on that topic a little bit
- 30:13Speaker 2: and we were in it and I was ready to jump.
- 30:15Speaker 1: Well, well she did, she did.
- 30:17Speaker 2: Sophie brought it up, you know, because I did think
- 30:19Speaker 2: the contrast, let's let's go, let's work backwards, start at
- 30:24Speaker 2: the end, like so it's there's one second leftno on
- 30:26Speaker 2: the one yard line, yep, you know, so you go
- 30:29Speaker 2: forward and get points. You don't go for it, you
- 30:31Speaker 2: kick the field goal, you know whatever. I thought it
- 30:35Speaker 2: was a little inconsistent, but Mike and I kind of
- 30:39Speaker 2: agreed with it. Like I thought it was like we
- 30:41Speaker 2: both immediately said maybe he felt like it was important
- 30:44Speaker 2: psychologically to go into the halftime locker room after that
- 30:47Speaker 2: half with the lead yep. And Mike basically confirmed that yesterday.
- 30:52Speaker 2: He said, you know, we wanted it, we didn't want
- 30:54Speaker 2: to do all it. I think he said, we didn't
- 30:55Speaker 2: want to do all that and then come away with
- 30:58Speaker 2: no points where I think that the second guess is
- 31:02Speaker 2: and we never got to it because we ended up
- 31:04Speaker 2: kind of veering off into other directions in the press
- 31:06Speaker 2: conference yesterday, and I wanted to ask him, you let
- 31:10Speaker 2: about ten or twelve seconds go off the clock, and
- 31:13Speaker 2: you wanted to specifically call the time out at eighteen seconds? Why,
- 31:18Speaker 2: like you sort of put it so like we're trying
- 31:21Speaker 2: to thread this needle, so there's no time on the clock. Yep,
- 31:25Speaker 2: And I get it. Buffalo's calling timeouts. Their goal is
- 31:29Speaker 2: to get the ball back. But the Patriots executed enough
- 31:33Speaker 2: so that was no longer really in play like it
- 31:36Speaker 2: was good. We're talking about the best Buffalo could have
- 31:40Speaker 2: hoped for was ten seconds or so.
- 31:41Speaker 7: Talking about the end of the game now, No.
- 31:43Speaker 2: I'm talking about the half. The half, the end of
- 31:44Speaker 2: the game. They executed to perfection. Other than that they
- 31:47Speaker 2: didn't get it first down.
- 31:49Speaker 4: And they would have if they hadn't had the penalty
- 31:51Speaker 4: because Drake had snuck for the first he got it.
- 31:54Speaker 2: It was not the same possession.
- 31:56Speaker 1: Before. Okay, but the.
- 32:00Speaker 2: I didn't really understand why Mike called let the time
- 32:04Speaker 2: go after I would have called the time out with
- 32:05Speaker 2: like thirty seconds left twenty You know, twenty five seconds left,
- 32:08Speaker 2: whatever the case may be, and then now I can
- 32:12Speaker 2: run anything I want. I think that's more important to
- 32:15Speaker 2: have my playbook open to me. So then you get
- 32:18Speaker 2: a situation that happened, you get a penalty because you're thinking, well,
- 32:21Speaker 2: you got plenty of time to run your three plays
- 32:23Speaker 2: or whatever, and then if we don't get in. I
- 32:25Speaker 2: think it was third and goal from like the twelve
- 32:28Speaker 2: or something like that, because I think they got a penalty.
- 32:30Speaker 2: It did get a penalty, right, so you had plenty
- 32:33Speaker 2: of time to get you a three plays off and
- 32:35Speaker 2: then kick a field goal, except for Trey White gets
- 32:38Speaker 2: called for pass interference in the end zone, which now
- 32:40Speaker 2: gives you a new set of downs, and now you
- 32:42Speaker 2: don't have time for three plays. So of seconds left.
- 32:45Speaker 2: I think if they had called time out earlier, they
- 32:47Speaker 2: would have had a little more time. Now.
- 32:49Speaker 7: I think that was I know I tried.
- 32:52Speaker 3: Wait, I think he tried because he tried to call
- 32:55Speaker 3: the time out earlier because I was watching him on
- 32:58Speaker 3: the sideline. He was all the way down on the
- 33:00Speaker 3: sideline and he was barking at the official because I
- 33:03Speaker 3: think he was yelling for time out like it looked.
- 33:06Speaker 2: Like they showed him and he was waiting and then
- 33:07Speaker 2: he went like this at eighteen seconds.
- 33:09Speaker 3: So maybe he was just trying to get the guy's attention,
- 33:12Speaker 3: but he looked a little bit, so.
- 33:14Speaker 2: No one even more upset that I didn't get that question. Yes,
- 33:17Speaker 2: I could be.
- 33:18Speaker 3: Maybe he was just trying to communicate what you're saying,
- 33:20Speaker 3: that they were waiting for a certain time, But it
- 33:22Speaker 3: looked to me like he was like, you know, are
- 33:24Speaker 3: you going to put some time back on them?
- 33:26Speaker 1: He did.
- 33:26Speaker 2: He wanted him to go because they let it run
- 33:28Speaker 2: to seventeen and he specifically said he wanted it at eighteen. Okay,
- 33:31Speaker 2: that's what he called it. And that's what you know.
- 33:33Speaker 2: I was wondering if you when you were ill, I
- 33:35Speaker 2: think like that eighteen second mark is what And they
- 33:38Speaker 2: still had a time out, by the way, might be,
- 33:39Speaker 2: so it wasn't like they might have it.
- 33:41Speaker 3: They might have it timed out that that's the amount
- 33:43Speaker 3: of time they need to run a certain amount of you.
- 33:46Speaker 2: To run any place they want without having to, you know,
- 33:48Speaker 2: while still saving the time out for a field goal
- 33:50Speaker 2: if we need it. Yeah, because that's important down there too.
- 33:53Speaker 2: Now what I would say, Fred, I agree with you
- 33:56Speaker 2: there's no way of knowing you're going to get a penalty,
- 33:58Speaker 2: but you had the ability to factor that in, like
- 34:02Speaker 2: at this point, you're not worried about giving Buffalo the
- 34:04Speaker 2: ball back. There's not enough time, right, yep? You know.
- 34:07Speaker 2: So I just thought that that was a they lost
- 34:10Speaker 2: a play there, and I thought they were fortunate that
- 34:13Speaker 2: that the incomplete pass only for thy seconds.
- 34:15Speaker 1: Oh my god, I know, I thought that was it.
- 34:17Speaker 2: Now I understand because I think Drake threw it a
- 34:20Speaker 2: little bit earlier because of that, and I think had
- 34:23Speaker 2: that been that been like eight seconds left, that's a touchdown.
- 34:25Speaker 4: And if you notice, I think he did throw it
- 34:27Speaker 4: because Henry didn't look right and.
- 34:29Speaker 6: Look, yeah, he wasn't looking. Yeah, that's what I said
- 34:31Speaker 6: to Evan. I said, I felt like he had if
- 34:33Speaker 6: he took a beat more. It's an easy it's an
- 34:35Speaker 6: easy touchdown.
- 34:35Speaker 2: But I think in his mind's eye he's thinking, I,
- 34:38Speaker 2: I can't get it, get time again. But definitely a
- 34:42Speaker 2: it's definitely a whole scenario worth talking about, and Mike
- 34:46Speaker 2: did get a lot of questions about it yesterday. I
- 34:48Speaker 2: just thought it was interesting Frabel's response when I.
- 34:50Speaker 1: Say, yeah, you know, like you can it.
- 34:53Speaker 4: I could have done it this way.
- 34:55Speaker 2: I go for fourth and ones on my own fifteen
- 34:57Speaker 2: and then this one I didn't go for But I
- 34:59Speaker 2: I understood the mentality earlier. And you know what I
- 35:01Speaker 2: kind of liked Freddy was that it wasn't just the
- 35:06Speaker 2: numbers say I could get this eighty percent of the time,
- 35:09Speaker 2: So the numbers say go for it. The numbers, I'm
- 35:11Speaker 2: sure right, ev like fourth and goal from the one,
- 35:13Speaker 2: I mean the second goal from the one. I'm sure
- 35:15Speaker 2: the numbers suggested.
- 35:16Speaker 7: You could go right most of the time.
- 35:18Speaker 2: So this one he actually taking. But he went with
- 35:23Speaker 2: the flow of the game. And again you can disagree
- 35:25Speaker 2: with him. I'm not telling you that he made the
- 35:27Speaker 2: right call. I think Evan probably sounds like you would
- 35:29Speaker 2: have gone for it, And I don't think Evan's wrong.
- 35:31Speaker 7: I don't think I would have gone for it.
- 35:35Speaker 2: I wouldn't have either, because I think that his rationale
- 35:38Speaker 2: like game the game has changed.
- 35:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I wouldn't have gone for it, very exact justification
- 35:43Speaker 3: that Rabel gave, Like they outplayed in.
- 35:46Speaker 2: The first half and they deserve to go in with you, right, There's.
- 35:49Speaker 3: Something to be said for even if it's a three
- 35:51Speaker 3: point lead. There's something to be said for the fact
- 35:53Speaker 3: that you have a three point lead and we hung
- 35:55Speaker 3: with them, and we kind of outplayed them, and we're
- 35:57Speaker 3: feeling pretty good, Whereas it's very demoralizing. If they go
- 36:01Speaker 3: for it on foard down and they don't.
- 36:02Speaker 1: Get it, that's it and it gives the other team moment.
- 36:05Speaker 3: And was also getting the ball to start the second half.
- 36:08Speaker 4: So earlier in the first half, I think it might
- 36:11Speaker 4: have been the Patriots' third possession round midfield and they
- 36:14Speaker 4: had that fourth and three that they ended up punting
- 36:17Speaker 4: another one.
- 36:18Speaker 2: Now that raised my eyebrows.
- 36:20Speaker 4: Now that was to me, I can unders because if
- 36:23Speaker 4: the feel of the game, his defense is playing pretty well,
- 36:27Speaker 4: you give him the ball right there, it's probably sure points.
- 36:30Speaker 1: I wasn't upset that he didn't go.
- 36:34Speaker 2: For but it's another good one, Freddy, I think that's great.
- 36:36Speaker 2: I don't know if you listened a lot to Mike
- 36:38Speaker 2: and I because I know it was late.
- 36:39Speaker 1: No.
- 36:40Speaker 2: We talked about a lot of this crowd because the
- 36:43Speaker 2: minutia and I do like the I think that Vrabel
- 36:47Speaker 2: has been a little bit more analytically bent than I
- 36:49Speaker 2: would have imagined. But I was really pleasantly surprised to
- 36:53Speaker 2: see that he does at least take the game, because
- 36:57Speaker 2: I think if you went into that game, you would
- 36:58Speaker 2: have said, this is a game we need points right four,
- 37:02Speaker 2: fourth and three from midfield, we're going to go for it.
- 37:04Speaker 2: Second and goal with one second left from the one.
- 37:06Speaker 2: We're going to go for it because we need points.
- 37:08Speaker 1: Yep.
- 37:08Speaker 2: But as you said, perfectly, the game unfolded into such
- 37:13Speaker 2: a way where you would previously pin them back with
- 37:16Speaker 2: a good baroner punt at the fourteen. I think, of
- 37:19Speaker 2: course you get help because immediately Buffalo gets a holding penalty.
- 37:22Speaker 2: It makes it first and seventeen. They did that two
- 37:25Speaker 2: consecutive possessions. Your defense is doing it, so why not
- 37:29Speaker 2: try to back them up again? That the second one,
- 37:31Speaker 2: I think is that the one that led to the
- 37:34Speaker 2: keyon Coleman fumble. It might have been which set up
- 37:38Speaker 2: points in the game. So I liked the fact that, yes,
- 37:43Speaker 2: he's not afraid to go forward and fourth down, even
- 37:45Speaker 2: in unconventional spots, but he's also not afraid to use
- 37:48Speaker 2: the way the game is unfolding.
- 37:51Speaker 1: A slave to the numbers, and he's not a slave
- 37:53Speaker 1: to the numbers.
- 37:54Speaker 2: It's not one hundred percent.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Every game isn't the same.
- 37:57Speaker 4: You know, playing last week against whoever the hell we
- 38:00Speaker 4: beat last week is not the same as playing against
- 38:03Speaker 4: Josh Allen, you know. So maybe if you're with the
- 38:06Speaker 4: Panthers at fourth and three you do go for it.
- 38:09Speaker 3: Well, I would think that would be that doesn't matter.
- 38:11Speaker 3: But I when you're playing Josh like Alan, you don't
- 38:13Speaker 3: win by field goals, right like that would bet, but
- 38:16Speaker 3: one was a little differ, that would be the game.
- 38:19Speaker 2: That's why I said going into the game. That's exactly
- 38:21Speaker 2: how I would that would be every one of those
- 38:24Speaker 2: if you would ask me before the game.
- 38:25Speaker 1: Yea, so.
- 38:28Speaker 3: Anything else before we kind of they still can't cover Concaid.
- 38:31Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Well the tight ends.
- 38:34Speaker 3: The tight ends in general or the problem. And I
- 38:36Speaker 3: think both their safeties are free safeties. Like they're both
- 38:41Speaker 3: guys that are best playing deep zones, you know, helping
- 38:44Speaker 3: over the top doing that sort of thing. Neither one
- 38:47Speaker 3: of their their safeties, at least right now. With Craig Woodson,
- 38:51Speaker 3: who I do kind of like, by the way, like
- 38:53Speaker 3: I can kind of see the light with him, Like.
- 38:55Speaker 2: I like him a lot more than he flies.
- 38:58Speaker 3: Like he can really run and he can hit, uh,
- 39:02Speaker 3: but he can't cover in man to man and neither
- 39:05Speaker 3: really can Jalen Hawkins.
- 39:07Speaker 2: Hawkins struggles I think every week.
- 39:09Speaker 3: They need to figure out, especially when you play a
- 39:13Speaker 3: tight end that can actually impact the game like a
- 39:15Speaker 3: like a Kincaid can in the passing game, they need
- 39:17Speaker 3: to figure out a different formula of how are we're
- 39:20Speaker 3: going to cover these tight ends, whether that's you know,
- 39:23Speaker 3: Carlon Davis as a game plan element is on him,
- 39:26Speaker 3: or Alex Austin or Marte Mapu or just somebody else,
- 39:30Speaker 3: you know, maybe even giving Kyle Dugger. I know he's
- 39:32Speaker 3: had issues with it in the past, but I think
- 39:34Speaker 3: he's been better at it in the past than Hawkins
- 39:37Speaker 3: and Woodson have shown so far. But whether it was man,
- 39:41Speaker 3: whether it was zone, Kincaid was opened the entire game.
- 39:44Speaker 1: Yeah, that was tough.
- 39:46Speaker 4: So we're talking about coming out games, Alex bartskuy Borgalis, Yeah, yeah,
- 39:53Speaker 4: a little coming out moment there.
- 39:55Speaker 7: Big kick and right down Main Street, Like yeah, what.
- 39:59Speaker 6: I thought was interest saying is very able talked about
- 40:01Speaker 6: like his mechanics and when it looks right, and I mean,
- 40:03Speaker 6: I think we all saw that this summer that there
- 40:05Speaker 6: were certain kicks sometimes where the ball's going ten to
- 40:08Speaker 6: four and don't look quite right. That kick looked perfect
- 40:12Speaker 6: right down, So I think it's it's funny. It's one
- 40:14Speaker 6: of those things you don't really realize it, but you
- 40:16Speaker 6: have a good sense of, you know, verybel compared to
- 40:19Speaker 6: a kicker, like when it was hit right and it
- 40:21Speaker 6: looks right, you know it, And that's he's he looks
- 40:24Speaker 6: like he's found a little groove.
- 40:25Speaker 2: He's got to keep it up, yeah, him for.
- 40:28Speaker 3: His And I know, you know, there is some browsing
- 40:31Speaker 3: on Paul's shows about how much they've been kind of
- 40:35Speaker 3: hyping up the kicker. You know, I think he got
- 40:37Speaker 3: a game ball again ward and then when he came
- 40:42Speaker 3: into the locker room.
- 40:43Speaker 7: They were chanting his name. I heard that, Oh is
- 40:45Speaker 7: that right?
- 40:46Speaker 3: And and the whole team, like the whole locker room,
- 40:49Speaker 3: and like, can we remember that this is like a
- 40:51Speaker 3: twenty two year old kid, right.
- 40:53Speaker 2: Like he like he's a rookie that had.
- 40:55Speaker 3: Some struggles, you know in Miami especially, and they're trying
- 40:59Speaker 3: to lift the kid up like they need him, like
- 41:02Speaker 3: he's the kicker and they need him to make kicks
- 41:04Speaker 3: like that, And so they're trying to boost his confidence,
- 41:07Speaker 3: and like, I don't understand why, like you know, you're
- 41:10Speaker 3: giving the kicker a game ball. I don't understand why
- 41:13Speaker 3: we can't see that like Drake May is awesome, Like
- 41:16Speaker 3: he doesn't need the game ball to know that he's awesome.
- 41:19Speaker 2: I didn't really hear anything yesterday that the Felg and
- 41:21Speaker 2: Mas make fun of them for giving him the game ball.
- 41:23Speaker 3: Yesterday, I wasn't listening to Felger and Maz. I don't
- 41:26Speaker 3: want to name the show directly.
- 41:27Speaker 2: I heard fred Fred Toucher in the morning was making
- 41:31Speaker 2: fun of the team for chanting his name. I heard that, yeah,
- 41:34Speaker 2: but like you said, you thought that was disrespectful to
- 41:36Speaker 2: the player, which I didn't really understand. But I didn't
- 41:40Speaker 2: hear anybody making fun of getting a game ball for
- 41:43Speaker 2: this game. I heard them when you missed the two
- 41:45Speaker 2: extra points.
- 41:46Speaker 1: But it's all.
- 41:47Speaker 3: Connected though, right, Like it's all And I think that
- 41:49Speaker 3: this is one thing that I'm not you know, look,
- 41:52Speaker 3: I'm next as a nose guy. But Rabel, there's something
- 41:55Speaker 3: about Rabel when it comes to motivation that he's just
- 41:59Speaker 3: really really good at pushing all the right buttons with
- 42:01Speaker 3: certain guys and he's clearly trying to inflate Borgolis's ego.
- 42:07Speaker 3: Like he's true clearly trying to gain get the kids
- 42:10Speaker 3: some confidence. Uh, you know, early on in his career
- 42:13Speaker 3: and so far, Like he drilled that kick in a
- 42:17Speaker 3: really tough environment, you know, with the game on the line,
- 42:20Speaker 3: he puts it right through the middle of the uprights.
- 42:22Speaker 7: Like, yeah, I'm not saying that was very bold, like
- 42:25Speaker 7: did it?
- 42:25Speaker 4: But like overall, there's there seems to be a lot
- 42:29Speaker 4: of emphasis on supporting each other on the team. You know,
- 42:32Speaker 4: they have this new chant at the end of the
- 42:34Speaker 4: in the locker room, we're all we got, We're all
- 42:36Speaker 4: we need. Uh, that's that's kind of the new thing.
- 42:40Speaker 4: It hasn't really replaced. Oh yeah, but they say it
- 42:42Speaker 4: just before that.
- 42:44Speaker 2: It's a digs thing. I feel like that came from this.
- 42:46Speaker 1: It might it might be. It might be.
- 42:47Speaker 4: But there's a lot of you know, I love you,
- 42:50Speaker 4: and like because we hear the miked up a lot,
- 42:52Speaker 4: and you know, we hear the whole thing, most of
- 42:55Speaker 4: it doesn't get used, you know, but there's a lot
- 42:57Speaker 4: of you know, I love you and a lot a
- 42:59Speaker 4: lot of that stuff up and some people don't like that.
- 43:01Speaker 2: But that seems to be the things that people get upset.
- 43:05Speaker 4: Yeah, that seems to be like something Rabel wants to
- 43:09Speaker 4: emphasize is that we're you know, we're.
- 43:11Speaker 1: All in it together.
- 43:12Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, and I'm sure every team does that,
- 43:15Speaker 4: but it's very very out there.
- 43:18Speaker 1: It's very out you know, it's very different.
- 43:20Speaker 6: Than what we've experienced, you know here in his look
- 43:23Speaker 6: it came as advertised, this is what I thought of
- 43:25Speaker 6: Mike Rabel, that he would be a player's coach and
- 43:27Speaker 6: you know a guy that. I mean, you hear him
- 43:29Speaker 6: say it all the time, like it will always be
- 43:31Speaker 6: about the players. I mean, I've heard him say that
- 43:33Speaker 6: a number of times.
- 43:34Speaker 1: I think, I don't.
- 43:35Speaker 2: Billy used to say that too, but I you know, I.
- 43:40Speaker 6: Believe it with Rabel and you know the way that
- 43:42Speaker 6: he really seems to care about these guys. And I
- 43:45Speaker 6: think he's done a great job here through through five weeks.
- 43:47Speaker 4: He's got the new thing where it's not new, he's
- 43:49Speaker 4: been doing it since the beginning of the season, where
- 43:50Speaker 4: he stands out in front of the locker room as
- 43:53Speaker 4: the players come in that's win or lose.
- 43:54Speaker 1: Yeah, he does that, and.
- 43:56Speaker 3: His energy when he said to Diggs, let's get the
- 43:59Speaker 3: hell out of here.
- 44:00Speaker 7: I was right there. I was like, hell, yeah.
- 44:03Speaker 2: You know, let's packed this thing up and let's go
- 44:05Speaker 2: real quick.
- 44:05Speaker 6: I just wanted to piggyback off your thing about poor Gosses.
- 44:08Speaker 6: I just remembered, uh in the two thousand and six
- 44:11Speaker 6: training camp when Gostowski was a rookie and Bill pulled
- 44:13Speaker 6: the thing of make this kick, we're off for the day,
- 44:16Speaker 6: and he made it. And I still remember the picture
- 44:18Speaker 6: which was you know, probably taken by Silverman or Eric
- 44:20Speaker 6: out at that point, but you know, him getting propped
- 44:22Speaker 6: up and they, you know, everybody picked up.
- 44:24Speaker 2: So it's the same thing, you.
- 44:25Speaker 9: Know, the kickers in their head cases, concerted efforts to
- 44:28Speaker 9: try to like nurture these guys and build their confidence
- 44:32Speaker 9: in any chance you get to give them some recognition
- 44:35Speaker 9: and positive reinforcement.
- 44:36Speaker 1: I think you got to take it. It's a tough job.
- 44:37Speaker 7: You're on that position.
- 44:39Speaker 3: It's all between the years, Like all these guys can
- 44:42Speaker 3: kick the crap out of the ball, say this all
- 44:43Speaker 3: the time.
- 44:44Speaker 7: It's all mental.
- 44:44Speaker 3: It's not like these other positions where it's you know,
- 44:47Speaker 3: there's real physical elements to it that you need to
- 44:50Speaker 3: kind of have to have it, like all these kickers.
- 44:53Speaker 3: It's there are mental cases and so like when you
- 44:55Speaker 3: have a guy, like a young kid like that, you
- 44:58Speaker 3: know his confidence goes away and he'll have a rookie
- 45:02Speaker 3: season like Chad Ryland had here.
- 45:03Speaker 7: A couple of years ago.
- 45:04Speaker 3: Yeah, And like when you're competitive and you're trying to
- 45:07Speaker 3: make a push here.
- 45:08Speaker 7: You know you're going to be in a lot of
- 45:11Speaker 7: games that are closed.
- 45:12Speaker 4: You come off an off season, a training camp where
- 45:15Speaker 4: you didn't really outright win the job. You know the
- 45:18Speaker 4: other guy was just as good as you, and you're
- 45:21Speaker 4: wondering what your teammates think about that.
- 45:23Speaker 3: I just think that you know, they have a real
- 45:26Speaker 3: chance to be playing meaningful football in December and January,
- 45:29Speaker 3: and when you're in close games against good teams, like
- 45:33Speaker 3: you're gonna win a lot of games by three points
- 45:36Speaker 3: when the time expires, and they need him to be
- 45:38Speaker 3: able to make those kicks, and you know that that
- 45:41Speaker 3: means channing his name.
- 45:43Speaker 7: When he comes into the locker room. Then that's what
- 45:45Speaker 7: they're gonna have to do.
- 45:46Speaker 1: Yep. So that's the game, right, Yeah, anything else.
- 45:51Speaker 2: Just what really study with like the star power and
- 45:54Speaker 2: I know we don't like we've been a little critical
- 45:56Speaker 2: of the Patriots roster in recent years. They won four
- 45:59Speaker 2: games back to years, But I do think that they
- 46:02Speaker 2: were very aggressive and free agency this year, and I
- 46:05Speaker 2: think they brought in some talent and then some of
- 46:06Speaker 2: the younger guys that they've drafted. But this game, to
- 46:09Speaker 2: me was about your stars, Drake May, Stefan Diggs, Christian Gonzales.
- 46:15Speaker 2: You know, I don't know if they're the three best
- 46:17Speaker 2: players in the team. You put Milton Williams and Barmore
- 46:19Speaker 2: probably in that group for five, But you won the
- 46:22Speaker 2: game because your your studs performed when you needed them to.
- 46:26Speaker 7: It were stud like and they were like buffalos.
- 46:29Speaker 2: Stefan Diggs was otherworldly in that.
- 46:31Speaker 1: I mean, making that first guy miss.
- 46:33Speaker 2: Yeah, he had like seventy yards after the catch, right,
- 46:36Speaker 2: Like that was like a time machine game for him.
- 46:38Speaker 2: He hasn't really done that in years.
- 46:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:41Speaker 3: That was probably the best receiver wide receiver game for
- 46:45Speaker 3: Patriots since like Edelman and Seattle maybe like twenty twenty. Yeah, right,
- 46:50Speaker 3: you know, like that was as good of a game
- 46:53Speaker 3: as I've seen the Patriots wide receiver play in half
- 46:56Speaker 3: a decade.
- 46:57Speaker 2: That was just like a big standout to me. It's
- 46:59Speaker 2: like we've been, and I've been. I'm guilty as anybody
- 47:02Speaker 2: you know, Like they just don't have enough talent, they
- 47:04Speaker 2: don't have enough difference makers. Well you have difference makers.
- 47:07Speaker 2: Maybe you still don't have enough of them starting to
- 47:08Speaker 2: make a difference. But the difference makers made a difference
- 47:11Speaker 2: Sunday night. And again I'm not I'm not gonna sit
- 47:14Speaker 2: here and crap all of the Buffalo. I think I
- 47:17Speaker 2: think Buffalo is excellent. I think the Patriots when they
- 47:20Speaker 2: needed to be, they were. They were better. When they
- 47:22Speaker 2: needed to make plays to win the game, they were better.
- 47:25Speaker 2: I mean those blitzes that McDermott dialed up, they all worked,
- 47:29Speaker 2: they all got there. Drake just beat them.
- 47:31Speaker 1: Yeah, because Drake was better, especially to.
- 47:35Speaker 6: Like looking at that game, who Buffalo's identity was coming
- 47:38Speaker 6: in and what they wanted to be, and the Patriots
- 47:40Speaker 6: just didn't let them do it.
- 47:41Speaker 1: They didn't let the.
- 47:42Speaker 6: Game get dictated by James Cook and the ground game.
- 47:45Speaker 6: You know, certainly kincaid Is is probably an exception to that.
- 47:48Speaker 6: But they were pretty tight with tackling, Like they haven't
- 47:51Speaker 6: been great at tackling, but Shakiir breaks more tackles than
- 47:54Speaker 6: anybody as a wide receiver, and yeah he made some catches,
- 47:57Speaker 6: but well, I was just impressed with that they were
- 47:59Speaker 6: right there, guys that even you know, even a Jalen
- 48:01Speaker 6: Hawkins who gives up a catch boom tackled, you know.
- 48:04Speaker 2: So those are positive things.
- 48:06Speaker 6: I just I think your expectations of going against another
- 48:09Speaker 6: elite and I don't say another, but going against an
- 48:11Speaker 6: elite NFL offense, like they're gonna make plays, They're gonna
- 48:15Speaker 6: make some of your players look bad. You just have
- 48:17Speaker 6: to be able to fight the long play the long
- 48:19Speaker 6: game and make your plays when it counts. And I
- 48:21Speaker 6: just have confidence this defense is starting to do that.
- 48:23Speaker 3: Oh right, so really quickly because I try to keep
- 48:26Speaker 3: you know it in my pants about Drake for the
- 48:28Speaker 3: first hour of the show.
- 48:29Speaker 7: Yes, yeah, I tried. I tried my best there there.
- 48:33Speaker 3: There was multiple times both live and then watching this
- 48:36Speaker 3: game back where I did.
- 48:37Speaker 7: The Collins were like, oh my god. Yeah, I mean,
- 48:40Speaker 7: like the second half was a masterclass.
- 48:43Speaker 3: Like that was as good of a second half I've
- 48:45Speaker 3: seen a quarterback play all year.
- 48:47Speaker 7: He was phenomenal.
- 48:49Speaker 3: I mean, obviously the stats are the stats. Who was
- 48:50Speaker 3: thirteen for fourteen, like one incomplete pass went off Trevon
- 48:54Speaker 3: Henderson's hands. It was just throw after throw, and I
- 48:59Speaker 3: thought of Paulie. I thought of Paul you know, talking
- 49:01Speaker 3: about against Carolina's in Miami's like mcdaniels's scheming guys open
- 49:05Speaker 3: and guy receivers are popping open, you know, down the
- 49:08Speaker 3: field and all that stuff, and that's you know, I
- 49:10Speaker 3: love that kind of stuff. I love breaking it down.
- 49:12Speaker 3: But this game was we're going to drop that pass
- 49:15Speaker 3: and our guy is just going to be better than
- 49:17Speaker 3: your guys and he's just going to make play after
- 49:19Speaker 3: play after play. Yeah, And that was just incredible. I mean,
- 49:23Speaker 3: I know everybody's talking about the throw of you know,
- 49:26Speaker 3: hanging all over him, and you know he kind of
- 49:29Speaker 3: like blew the read on that one, to be honest,
- 49:30Speaker 3: but he you know, makes the throw there to start
- 49:32Speaker 3: that drive. But the whole shot to Booty is just
- 49:35Speaker 3: as good. I mean, that throat.
- 49:36Speaker 2: I underestimated that that throw live and then we went
- 49:40Speaker 2: back and I and I looked at it Matt Smith
- 49:42Speaker 2: when he came into post game, so she was like,
- 49:43Speaker 2: what about the one the booty? And I was like,
- 49:44Speaker 2: I gave Booty all the credit for the awareness to
- 49:46Speaker 2: get down yeah and stay in bounce. But then I
- 49:49Speaker 2: looked back and I was like, that was there's a
- 49:51Speaker 2: guy hitting him. Throws to get it there, perfect yeah, perfect.
- 49:55Speaker 7: Perfect hole shot.
- 49:57Speaker 1: Uh.
- 49:57Speaker 3: And he actually I think he felt the pressure from
- 49:59Speaker 3: the side, so he actually drifted a little bit to
- 50:02Speaker 3: the right to buy himself just like an extra half
- 50:04Speaker 3: beat before he had to throw the ball, and then
- 50:07Speaker 3: he fits it right into the cover two hole. I mean,
- 50:10Speaker 3: the one that Henry up the middle of the field,
- 50:12Speaker 3: came off the first read, came into Henry the middle
- 50:15Speaker 3: of the field and just rips it down the steam
- 50:16Speaker 3: to Henry.
- 50:17Speaker 7: He had one to Remandre.
- 50:19Speaker 3: On a check down where he got forced out of
- 50:22Speaker 3: the pocket and he's rolling out. He just kind of
- 50:24Speaker 3: flicked it to Remandre with anticipation and Remander just broke
- 50:27Speaker 3: right into the ball. I mean, just there's like five
- 50:31Speaker 3: or six throws in the second half that are just,
- 50:34Speaker 3: you know, unbelievable.
- 50:36Speaker 7: I mean, just put it roll.
- 50:37Speaker 1: It's interesting because at the beginning of the season.
- 50:39Speaker 4: A lot of the scribes came out with their best
- 50:43Speaker 4: quarterback rankings and a lot of Patriots fans would be
- 50:47Speaker 4: really upset because in these lists, May would be like
- 50:51Speaker 4: in the low twenties or you know, twenty five, and
- 50:54Speaker 4: you know they would be pissed off. But at that time,
- 50:57Speaker 4: he hadn't really shown that he deserved to be in
- 51:00Speaker 4: the top. But now he's doing that now, certainly the
- 51:04Speaker 4: numbers say it, but now the numbers.
- 51:06Speaker 1: Are through the roof.
- 51:07Speaker 2: But I mean he's knocking on the top ten of
- 51:09Speaker 2: anybody's list.
- 51:10Speaker 4: Yeah, now he has to be right, he's a top
- 51:12Speaker 4: ten Patriots fans, you have a.
- 51:14Speaker 1: Right to be upset if he's not in the on
- 51:17Speaker 1: top of those lists.
- 51:18Speaker 7: I mean, I don't think he should.
- 51:19Speaker 3: Like the Bills had won fourteen straight games at home,
- 51:23Speaker 3: and he went into the MVP's house and now played
- 51:25Speaker 3: him right like that. That is, I mean that in
- 51:29Speaker 3: his second year in the league. And I know everybody
- 51:31Speaker 3: keeps comparing him to Josh Allen and I do it too,
- 51:34Speaker 3: and I get it. He's way ahead of where Josh
- 51:37Speaker 3: Allen was in his second season. Now, I don't know
- 51:39Speaker 3: if he's quite as like physically imposing like Allen's like
- 51:45Speaker 3: six six, two thirty five, like Allen's a tank like.
- 51:48Speaker 3: I don't know if Drake may is quite built that way.
- 51:51Speaker 1: He's not.
- 51:51Speaker 3: But from a number standpoint or whatever, Like Allen was
- 51:55Speaker 3: not playing this well this early on.
- 51:58Speaker 2: He didn't play this good. I mean, he won a
- 52:00Speaker 2: lot of games, but he wasn't playing playing like this.
- 52:03Speaker 4: All right, eight five to five pass five hundred is
- 52:05Speaker 4: the hot line. A lot of you been waiting patiently.
- 52:09Speaker 4: Uh so let's go to the phones. Anthony's in Seattle.
- 52:12Speaker 4: What's up, Anthony?
- 52:14Speaker 1: We got our Yeah, we got a guy. That's it.
- 52:20Speaker 1: That's what I wanted to say. We waited forty five
- 52:23Speaker 1: minutes to say that.
- 52:24Speaker 4: Okay, that's it.
- 52:26Speaker 2: That's not the whole thing that that's what he said.
- 52:27Speaker 2: If they went to Buffalo, didn't Anthony say that last week?
- 52:30Speaker 2: If we go to Buffalo and Drake May does this,
- 52:32Speaker 2: I'm just going to call in on Tuesday and say,
- 52:34Speaker 2: we got our guy.
- 52:35Speaker 1: He's a man of his word.
- 52:36Speaker 7: It's a great call.
- 52:37Speaker 1: Patty's an agawab what's up, Patty?
- 52:41Speaker 10: What's going on? Gentlemen? Yeah, I can corroborate that Polly
- 52:44Speaker 10: to say that. First off, I just want to give
- 52:47Speaker 10: kudos to Polly and Fred for picking the bills where
- 52:49Speaker 10: I didn't have the cojones to pick them, but you
- 52:52Speaker 10: guys certainly did. My hat's off you guys, what a
- 52:55Speaker 10: great freaking game. I just wanted to throw a couple
- 52:58Speaker 10: of numbers at you guys too. That was the first
- 53:00Speaker 10: game in twenty seven games where Buffalo lost the turnover battle. Yeah,
- 53:05Speaker 10: and that was our first back to back wins since
- 53:10Speaker 10: weeks eight through eleven. There was a bye weekend there
- 53:12Speaker 10: in twenty twenty two. And for me, I don't know
- 53:16Speaker 10: how you guys feel about this, but I know they
- 53:19Speaker 10: didn't say all that great in the first half, but
- 53:21Speaker 10: this was the second game that I've seen them raise
- 53:25Speaker 10: the team around them and the two most important games,
- 53:28Speaker 10: the two on the road games, was in the Division
- 53:30Speaker 10: at Miami and on Sunday night.
- 53:34Speaker 8: That's all.
- 53:35Speaker 10: That's all I gotta say. I'm freaking psych Let's go baby.
- 53:38Speaker 4: All right, And that is that's a great point. Two
- 53:41Speaker 4: road division wins right now?
- 53:44Speaker 6: Yeah, Yeah, I mean those are the two you know,
- 53:46Speaker 6: not always maybe the hardest opponents, but you know, if
- 53:49Speaker 6: you look at getting to the playoffs, win the division
- 53:51Speaker 6: every year, the game at Miami, in the game of Buffalo,
- 53:53Speaker 6: you have circled right out of the gate and for
- 53:56Speaker 6: able to win those two road games right out of
- 53:58Speaker 6: the gate. It's it's definitely feather in.
- 54:01Speaker 4: That Pittsburgh game might come back to haunt us. Yes,
- 54:03Speaker 4: it was in that freaking game. Or the Oakland game.
- 54:06Speaker 1: Well, yeah, the Oakland game too. I look at them.
- 54:09Speaker 1: The Pittsburgh one was right there. Just don't turn the
- 54:11Speaker 1: ball over.
- 54:12Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, it's okay, I didn't go.
- 54:14Speaker 3: These are all the trials and tribulations that you know, Yeah,
- 54:17Speaker 3: they kind of they kind of needed for the season.
- 54:20Speaker 4: If you said you were going to be three and
- 54:21Speaker 4: two after the first five, like, okay, I'll take that.
- 54:24Speaker 7: It's a good way to coach it regardless who you beat.
- 54:27Speaker 3: Guys, if we didn't turn the ball over, we probably
- 54:29Speaker 3: win this game by ten points. Just don't turn the
- 54:31Speaker 3: ball over and we're going to be fine.
- 54:32Speaker 2: So I would actually say, because I hate that that
- 54:35Speaker 2: mentality that if you told me, I would actually say
- 54:39Speaker 2: I'd be more excited the way it came out, Like
- 54:42Speaker 2: winning in Buffalo and Miami and being three and two
- 54:44Speaker 2: is better than if they had beaten the Steelers at home.
- 54:48Speaker 4: Yeah, let's go to Ivan in California.
- 54:51Speaker 1: What's up Ivan? Ivan? Ivan? Gone?
- 54:59Speaker 4: All right, one more, we'll take a break Chris with
- 55:02Speaker 4: a T. I A N what's up?
- 55:04Speaker 1: Christian?
- 55:06Speaker 11: Incredible game.
- 55:07Speaker 8: Didn't go to slates till two o'clock that morning. Woke
- 55:10Speaker 8: up a stick like I slept eight hours. Went back, baby,
- 55:13Speaker 8: went back all the way, baby, all the way.
- 55:15Speaker 11: Let's go.
- 55:16Speaker 1: You got it? Who wow?
- 55:19Speaker 2: Just that's what I wanted from you in Sunday night.
- 55:22Speaker 2: You were a little subdued, but there were people around
- 55:24Speaker 2: you could use outside could you not? Could you not
- 55:26Speaker 2: really go go full Fred?
- 55:28Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 55:28Speaker 7: Okay, we had to walk through bos mafia.
- 55:31Speaker 1: That story is great.
- 55:32Speaker 7: Trying to fight me?
- 55:34Speaker 1: Yeah, or they were they knew who you were? No did.
- 55:38Speaker 3: I did see a couple of Patriots fans on the
- 55:40Speaker 3: way out and did like a little quiet because like
- 55:43Speaker 3: those guys went like they went to a game in
- 55:46Speaker 3: that environment with Patriots gear on. Yeah, like that's ballsy,
- 55:50Speaker 3: And they came out a lie first of all, which
- 55:52Speaker 3: is good, and then second of all, they won the game,
- 55:54Speaker 3: So I was like, thanks for coming.
- 55:55Speaker 1: I mean it was it was loud there, It was loud.
- 55:58Speaker 1: They all had their white shirts on their rivalry uniforms.
- 56:03Speaker 3: Like the whole thing is so corny, like and I
- 56:05Speaker 3: just ran about this for a second, Like.
- 56:07Speaker 2: This isn't college football.
- 56:09Speaker 3: It's not Penn State like you you guys, like, come on,
- 56:13Speaker 3: I don't mind that it's a faterrible.
- 56:15Speaker 1: It's that they have a fan base. It's willing to
- 56:17Speaker 1: do that. This is the NFL.
- 56:20Speaker 3: This isn't high school football in Texas. It's like it's sports.
- 56:24Speaker 1: Okay.
- 56:25Speaker 3: So like, okay, like you can do whatever you want
- 56:32Speaker 3: all the time. That's that's what that is. That's small
- 56:34Speaker 3: city stuff. Like when the Celtics put the green jerseys in.
- 56:39Speaker 3: That's different that you're because you're no, it's not okay, no,
- 56:44Speaker 3: it's because they they give you those.
- 56:47Speaker 1: I'd be right, I'm okay with that. I'm okay with that.
- 56:50Speaker 1: And what I will say is you.
- 56:52Speaker 2: Can be okay with it, but it's corny like but.
- 56:55Speaker 4: The fact that their fans are so into it that
- 56:58Speaker 4: they're all I would just.
- 57:00Speaker 2: Say that it's cliche. I mean, I'm with you, Fred,
- 57:03Speaker 2: I'm not anti fun. I think those kinds of stuff,
- 57:05Speaker 2: you know, those kinds of things like.
- 57:07Speaker 7: I have fun with the football gimmick.
- 57:10Speaker 2: Winnipeg Jets and hockey. You go and everybody's wearing white,
- 57:13Speaker 2: like it's kind of cool. I think it's fun. Now,
- 57:17Speaker 2: if you want to say, like the Bills do something else,
- 57:19Speaker 2: that's what everybody else does. That's cliche, okay, but I
- 57:23Speaker 2: don't have any problem with that whatever. I mean. I
- 57:25Speaker 2: think the uniforms look pretty cool.
- 57:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 57:28Speaker 4: I think because their new stadium, it's right next to it.
- 57:32Speaker 4: It's huge and it's like really tall. It towers over
- 57:35Speaker 4: the old one. I guess they have PSLs and they're
- 57:39Speaker 4: still selling. They're not sold out yet. I wonder if
- 57:42Speaker 4: the atmosphere will get hurt a little bit because they're
- 57:46Speaker 4: pricing out, you know, the hard core.
- 57:48Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 57:48Speaker 3: Just to be clear, I have all the respect in
- 57:52Speaker 3: the world for the Mafia. I have friends in the Mafia.
- 57:54Speaker 3: I like the Bills Mafia fans. I like their fan base.
- 57:57Speaker 3: It's not anti fan base thing. You guys are are
- 58:00Speaker 3: so beyond above things like gimmicky white out.
- 58:03Speaker 2: That's what I said. You could say it's cliche, but
- 58:05Speaker 2: like that's all I'm saying.
- 58:06Speaker 3: Like, you guys are a very good football team that
- 58:10Speaker 3: probably should win the AFC.
- 58:13Speaker 4: So just according to the extracted at the uniforms. Yeah,
- 58:18Speaker 4: one thing I will say about their rivalry's uniform it's
- 58:21Speaker 4: a it's like a silver ru white.
- 58:23Speaker 1: So the numbers are very very hard to see?
- 58:26Speaker 2: Were they hard for you in the press because you
- 58:28Speaker 2: could see them happen, which is a big it's a
- 58:31Speaker 2: big I could see them veteran move.
- 58:33Speaker 1: I had binoculars, but.
- 58:34Speaker 2: I would say it was It was not hard on TV,
- 58:37Speaker 2: but I could I could understand having that that problem
- 58:40Speaker 2: from the press box, not a kind of like when
- 58:42Speaker 2: they had the red numbers that year for the Patriot
- 58:44Speaker 2: Blue it was kind of hard to see from the
- 58:46Speaker 2: press box. Could I just asked you this?
- 58:47Speaker 4: Two?
- 58:48Speaker 1: Fred?
- 58:48Speaker 6: And you've been going to that stadium for a while now.
- 58:49Speaker 6: I know it's a dump. I know that there's all
- 58:51Speaker 6: kinds of technology issues, but like, are you happy to
- 58:54Speaker 6: see that old stadium kind of go? Are you going
- 58:57Speaker 6: to miss that atmosphere that they clearly.
- 58:59Speaker 1: I'm not good? I miss it one.
- 59:00Speaker 2: Fred brings up a great point though about the crowd,
- 59:03Speaker 2: and I do think you run the risk of that
- 59:05Speaker 2: it's happening at Yankee Stadium.
- 59:07Speaker 3: Yeah, it's the best self, It's the best crowd in
- 59:09Speaker 3: the NFL.
- 59:10Speaker 7: I've never been to.
- 59:11Speaker 2: The stadium used to be ridiculously loud and it still
- 59:14Speaker 2: gets there but not the same. And there's a lot
- 59:16Speaker 2: like those they would watch a Yankees game in the
- 59:19Speaker 2: regular season. All those seats are empty around because they
- 59:21Speaker 2: cost a million dollars, like no one can afford them.
- 59:25Speaker 2: They still get it for the playoffs and stuff, but
- 59:27Speaker 2: sometimes you lose a little of that advantage that you have.
- 59:31Speaker 2: And I think Fred might be onto something if they're
- 59:33Speaker 2: going to try those Evans guys.
- 59:35Speaker 7: You know, I think it's I think it's different though.
- 59:38Speaker 3: Like to me, this what makes the bill stadiums so
- 59:42Speaker 3: great is that it's very low and so like the
- 59:46Speaker 3: fans are like on top of the field. Like it's
- 59:49Speaker 3: not one of these like big monstrosity stadiums where you're
- 59:53Speaker 3: you're sitting like on the moon compared to the game.
- 59:56Speaker 3: It's one of these stadiums where it's really like a
- 59:58Speaker 3: college football stadium.
- 59:59Speaker 2: It was one. It was very similar to the old Foxborough.
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: It was identical at one time, and they had you know,
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: And the one thing I'll say about it is you
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: I have watched a game from the stands there in Buffalo.
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: It's great sight lines. It's a dump. It's not a
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: good stadium, But I understand what Evan's talking about and
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: you will lose something because you're going to have a
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: modern stadium with modern amenities.
- 1:00:19Speaker 4: And so I'll tell you the story. My first time
- 1:00:24Speaker 4: at that stadium was nineteen ninety five, and it's cold
- 1:00:27Speaker 4: out and if you've never been there as a writer before,
- 1:00:31Speaker 4: you don't know how to get to the press box,
- 1:00:33Speaker 4: especially from where you get dropped off with the team bus.
- 1:00:37Speaker 4: It's not obvious how to get there. You have to
- 1:00:40Speaker 4: go through the crowds and everything. And so we win
- 1:00:43Speaker 4: the game and it's like the apocalypse. There's fights in
- 1:00:48Speaker 4: the stands, like the fans are just pissed off, and
- 1:00:51Speaker 4: you know, I'm with somebody else that we're trying to
- 1:00:54Speaker 4: make our way back to the buses and down to
- 1:00:58Speaker 4: where they're doing the press conferences, and we take a
- 1:01:01Speaker 4: wrong term and we end up in the stands.
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: So now we're looking down into the end zone.
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: We have to get over this wall to get into
- 1:01:10Speaker 4: the ramp, and so we're fighting away and literally this
- 1:01:13Speaker 4: guy's punching each other out. And we get down there
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: and I see a cop and I'm like, I'm gonna
- 1:01:19Speaker 4: go over the wall, and the cop looks at me, goes, okay,
- 1:01:23Speaker 4: there's a door right there.
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: It's like, oh, I will not through that as far
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: as covering the game goes. I will not miss that stadium.
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: I'll miss it for fans. But the fact that you
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: have to go outside to go back inside and then
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: you have to go outside through the mafia coming out
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: of the little door that's not mark right, and you
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: have to like go you're going against the current, like
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: they're coming out and you're trying to go kind of
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: diagonally through. And like, there's no other stadium in the
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: NFL where you have to go outside with the fans
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: to go back inside to go to the down to
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: the locker room. It's the only one that's like that here,
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: you know, for people that don't know, there's just an
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: elevator that takes you right down to the field level
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: and you walk through the guts of the stadium down
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: to the locker room. So this one you have to
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: literally go out into the concourse and walk through the
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: concourse as everybody.
- 1:02:19Speaker 7: Is trying to leave.
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: And you put on top of that, they just lost
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: a game that they were seven and a half point
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: favorites in and like so now they're pissed that they
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: lost the game.
- 1:02:27Speaker 4: This is the same place, remember Shane Donaldson. So it's
- 1:02:33Speaker 4: it's it was a December game. There's snow and ice everywhere,
- 1:02:37Speaker 4: even on the concourse and where like Evan said, we're
- 1:02:40Speaker 4: walking through the concourse to get back to the press
- 1:02:43Speaker 4: box against the Grain and poor Sean and Shane has
- 1:02:48Speaker 4: he's got serebal palsy. So he's you know, kind of
- 1:02:50Speaker 4: walking like he walks and he's got his laptop in
- 1:02:53Speaker 4: his arm and he hits a piece of ice and
- 1:02:55Speaker 4: just goes down.
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: Well someone kind of knocked them down. Yeah, Like as
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: Evan said, you're going against the Grain.
- 1:03:01Speaker 4: And the laptop goes flying, it cracks, and he's on
- 1:03:04Speaker 4: the ground and people are just walking over him.
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: Oh yeah, and he had I remember, like he had
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: his hands as he's you know, lifting himself up, and
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: he's got no gloves on. They're yelling him, where's your gloves, idiot,
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: like screaming at him, and he's just in a panic
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: because he thinks Fred's going to be pissed at him
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: for breaking the leftop.
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:03:24Speaker 6: It just makes me a little sad because I love
- 1:03:27Speaker 6: when you turn on the TV to watch a game
- 1:03:28Speaker 6: and you know exactly what stadium it is and what
- 1:03:31Speaker 6: that home crowd is like.
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: And you know, the newer.
- 1:03:33Speaker 6: Stadiums are all becoming so just these monstrosities that are
- 1:03:37Speaker 6: void of personality and they all kind of feel the same,
- 1:03:39Speaker 6: and you don't really like Seattle is a good example of,
- 1:03:42Speaker 6: you know, one where it still feels like there's a
- 1:03:44Speaker 6: home field advantage. Otherwise, like you're in LA, you don't
- 1:03:47Speaker 6: know if the Rams are the Chargers are playing, you're
- 1:03:48Speaker 6: in New York, you know if you know, I mean,
- 1:03:50Speaker 6: they change the colors, but there's just no personality to it.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: And that's what I love about stadiums.
- 1:03:54Speaker 6: And all you guys are saying, right, you can't continue
- 1:03:57Speaker 6: going with the stadium like that, but just makes me
- 1:03:59Speaker 6: sad that you know, it's just gonna be another one
- 1:04:01Speaker 6: of these huge things that you're like, oh.
- 1:04:04Speaker 4: All right, all right, So we're gonna take a break.

- 1:06:39Speaker 14: Some guys are still going through some some test and
- 1:06:42Speaker 14: some medical evaluations. Hopefully I'll know more of this early
- 1:06:46Speaker 14: this afternoon, but we'll keep you updated if we If
- 1:06:50Speaker 14: we add anybody go to roster, or we feel like
- 1:06:54Speaker 14: we need guys at any position. We think that like
- 1:06:59Speaker 14: that for you and your message your first year here.
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: You know, I don't know how much you're thinking about
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: buying right now, but.
- 1:07:07Speaker 12: Just getting a win like that, do you feel like
- 1:07:08Speaker 12: it does anything in terms of your message resonating with
- 1:07:12Speaker 12: your team.
- 1:07:16Speaker 14: I don't. Maybe I don't know if I look at
- 1:07:18Speaker 14: it like that. I think that you know the the
- 1:07:24Speaker 14: buy in, you know, I don't know how you necessarily
- 1:07:29Speaker 14: define that, you know, just trying to show them, I
- 1:07:34Speaker 14: think what they're capable of doing when we can do
- 1:07:36Speaker 14: it together in all three phases and play up up
- 1:07:42Speaker 14: to our identity. Because it wasn't great. I thought we
- 1:07:45Speaker 14: played really hard. I thought we thought we flew around
- 1:07:48Speaker 14: on defense. I thought we tried to hammer the football out.
- 1:07:51Speaker 14: Sometimes we did sometimes we did it. They made some plays,
- 1:07:55Speaker 14: But I thought we have, even offensively, a lot of
- 1:07:58Speaker 14: room to grow special teams. Wise, we didn't have the
- 1:08:01Speaker 14: impact that we maybe or we're used to the previous
- 1:08:06Speaker 14: weeks or some of the phases. So I think that,
- 1:08:12Speaker 14: you know, we continue to show them those things and
- 1:08:15Speaker 14: what we need to improve the things that we do well.
- 1:08:18Speaker 14: I do think that they are trying to uphold the
- 1:08:22Speaker 14: style of play that we want to play with, and
- 1:08:26Speaker 14: then we'll just it's every week is a challenge, and
- 1:08:28Speaker 14: then we'll move on. And you know, we're prepare to
- 1:08:31Speaker 14: go down and play the Saints that are coming off
- 1:08:34Speaker 14: a huge win at home, and you know, that's where
- 1:08:38Speaker 14: we're at, you know. So I'm happy for the players.
- 1:08:40Speaker 14: I'm always happy for the players. They're the ones that
- 1:08:42Speaker 14: go out and do it. I appreciate the coaches efforts,
- 1:08:45Speaker 14: but you know, we we expect, you know, a good
- 1:08:49Speaker 14: week of practice. We expected to go in and and
- 1:08:52Speaker 14: and play well and give ourselves a chance to win.
- 1:08:55Speaker 14: And that's what we did. And again hopefully we can
- 1:08:58Speaker 14: build some confidence by the way that we played.
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: You know, we gave up a.
- 1:09:02Speaker 14: Touchdown drive to start the second half, but our offense
- 1:09:05Speaker 14: came back and answered, and they went down and tied
- 1:09:08Speaker 14: the game, and we came back and made a kick
- 1:09:10Speaker 14: and executed the time and the clock and you know,
- 1:09:13Speaker 14: gave them, you know, an MVP quarterback very little time
- 1:09:17Speaker 14: to to be able to do anything. So those those
- 1:09:21Speaker 14: are things that we had to do and so maybe
- 1:09:23Speaker 14: that get we can show them and says what's capable of?
- 1:09:26Speaker 14: This is how we'd like to maybe do it a
- 1:09:27Speaker 14: little bit differently, But I mean I don't question to
- 1:09:30Speaker 14: buy in. I mean, I think that they're trying. We
- 1:09:33Speaker 14: just go a lot of things we can improve on.
- 1:09:35Speaker 9: Helped along pint of those lines that to min a
- 1:09:37Speaker 9: drill at the end that you know by trad to.
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: Win the football game, what does that do for It's
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: like that, I.
- 1:09:44Speaker 14: Mean, you have to be putting those situations, and I
- 1:09:46Speaker 14: think you have to be in that situation to to
- 1:09:49Speaker 14: be able to feel it and you know, execute it.
- 1:09:55Speaker 14: Even the last play, the third downplay, we're trying to
- 1:09:58Speaker 14: you know, catch one out of there to the to
- 1:10:01Speaker 14: the flat and see if we can't get somebody to
- 1:10:04Speaker 14: break free out there. And you know, we've been talking
- 1:10:07Speaker 14: about not throwing that ball away in that particular situation again,
- 1:10:13Speaker 14: not to necessarily unless it was to lose yardage, and
- 1:10:17Speaker 14: he made a great decision to not lose yardage but
- 1:10:19Speaker 14: also keep the clock going. So I think that those
- 1:10:23Speaker 14: situationally is where he's starting to improve. Not that those
- 1:10:27Speaker 14: situations aren't critical, but there's so much that he and
- 1:10:32Speaker 14: Josh and Ashton and the offense are doing, you know,
- 1:10:35Speaker 14: with him right to understand those first and second down,
- 1:10:40Speaker 14: you know, operations procedures versus pressure and third down, and
- 1:10:45Speaker 14: then it's like, okay, two minutes and oh, by the way,
- 1:10:48Speaker 14: like we want to be a good five minute football team.
- 1:10:50Speaker 14: We want to because that means that we're ahead and
- 1:10:53Speaker 14: that we're controlling the ball and the clock and that
- 1:10:56Speaker 14: we're using all the time. And but there there's certain
- 1:11:00Speaker 14: things that probably are a little lower on the list
- 1:11:02Speaker 14: of priorities. There's a lot more first and second third
- 1:11:05Speaker 14: down snaps than there are five minute snaps, not to
- 1:11:08Speaker 14: make those less important, but you know, we're we're practicing
- 1:11:12Speaker 14: in them, and we're showing him and he's understanding. And
- 1:11:14Speaker 14: so that was good to because when you get into
- 1:11:15Speaker 14: that situation, you're pretty much in a it's two minutes,
- 1:11:19Speaker 14: but it's really five minute. You're trying to, you know,
- 1:11:21Speaker 14: take care of the clock to the best of your advantage.
- 1:11:24Speaker 14: So a lot of things that we can coach from
- 1:11:27Speaker 14: and and hopefully have some confidence.
- 1:11:29Speaker 6: With with the decision at the end of the how
- 1:11:33Speaker 6: to kick the fields.
- 1:11:34Speaker 8: I'm just kind of curious your thoughts on that one.
- 1:11:37Speaker 14: I know, I just didn't want to do all that
- 1:11:39Speaker 14: and not come out of there with points, and that
- 1:11:41Speaker 14: just the way that the first half had gone, I
- 1:11:45Speaker 14: felt like, and not to look at the other side
- 1:11:48Speaker 14: of the coin, but to come out of there tied.
- 1:11:54Speaker 14: I just felt like at least we could say, you know,
- 1:11:58Speaker 14: we we were we were in the first half, and
- 1:12:01Speaker 14: that we were in a position to kind of do
- 1:12:03Speaker 14: some things, so you know that may change next week
- 1:12:07Speaker 14: or the following week. And just felt like at that
- 1:12:12Speaker 14: point how it was going, just wanted to make sure
- 1:12:14Speaker 14: we came out of there with with points and a
- 1:12:19Speaker 14: good feeling going into half.
- 1:12:21Speaker 12: Do you do you have a plan for those types
- 1:12:23Speaker 12: of situations going into a.
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: Game like that one like you and your staff saying
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: for the PAP we might have to be impressive and
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: go for six. But then did it change just based.
- 1:12:32Speaker 14: On the flow of the game, And I think at
- 1:12:33Speaker 14: that point in time it did. I mean, we plan
- 1:12:35Speaker 14: on trying to be aggressive and not reckless. You know,
- 1:12:42Speaker 14: those are conversations that that stretching I have that we communicate,
- 1:12:47Speaker 14: you know, to Josh and to you know, everybody else
- 1:12:51Speaker 14: m certain times throughout the game where it's third and
- 1:12:56Speaker 14: eight and if we get it close enough that it's
- 1:12:58Speaker 14: four down, we try to tell them that and if
- 1:13:00Speaker 14: we don't get any yards or lose yards and then
- 1:13:04Speaker 14: we make a decision to punt. I think that the
- 1:13:07Speaker 14: communication there is going well, trying to be one play ahead,
- 1:13:12Speaker 14: you know, but to Stefan's credit, you know, I mean
- 1:13:14Speaker 14: we're trying to coach that when a guy's not playing
- 1:13:17Speaker 14: the football, you know, I mean, go back and create contact,
- 1:13:21Speaker 14: show the official that you're making attempt to go back
- 1:13:23Speaker 14: to the ball and go through the defender when he's
- 1:13:25Speaker 14: not playing the ball. So I would have liked to
- 1:13:28Speaker 14: reward him with a touchdown. Wasn't able to do that.
- 1:13:33Speaker 14: But yeah, I think that there's games where you certainly
- 1:13:36Speaker 14: want to be you know, you feel like you need
- 1:13:38Speaker 14: to be aggressive, especially a team that's averaging close to
- 1:13:41Speaker 14: thirty four points a game.
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: The chance so either.
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: Watch it back or even in real time.
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: What did you see on the past from Drake made
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: a days where he was like being you know, half
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: falling over as he got the ball out.
- 1:13:53Speaker 12: Just what did you see on my play?
- 1:13:57Speaker 14: Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh, we made it was
- 1:13:59Speaker 14: an eight yard loss to a twelve yard game, you know.
- 1:14:05Speaker 14: Just you know, he's continuing to grow and gain confidence
- 1:14:09Speaker 14: and show us and show everybody and show his team
- 1:14:12Speaker 14: and himself the ability to operate in the pocket, ability
- 1:14:16Speaker 14: to operate uh and scheduled move the pocket plays and
- 1:14:22Speaker 14: then also off schedule, so putting the ball and good
- 1:14:27Speaker 14: locations and only you know, not throwing behind guys and
- 1:14:32Speaker 14: you know, going on the move and putting the ball
- 1:14:34Speaker 14: in harm's way.
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: Anything in particular.
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: You liked above the approach to rogues.
- 1:14:40Speaker 14: And we had a good week of practice think that
- 1:14:43Speaker 14: they were really you know focused on what the environment
- 1:14:50Speaker 14: would be and what that would look like and how
- 1:14:53Speaker 14: we would have to operate and function. I thought that
- 1:14:57Speaker 14: was really important for a lot of young players that
- 1:15:01Speaker 14: maybe haven't been in a game of that magnitude. It
- 1:15:05Speaker 14: was good to see them, you know, respond and operate.
- 1:15:10Speaker 14: And we had the one I guess, you know fall
- 1:15:13Speaker 14: start on the you know short yard is that was
- 1:15:17Speaker 14: you know, disappointing how close that was. I mean, that's
- 1:15:20Speaker 14: how they call it some of these guys and you
- 1:15:23Speaker 14: know hunters line of scrimmage penalties frustrating, you know what
- 1:15:28Speaker 14: I mean, looking over at official that's fifteen yards away
- 1:15:34Speaker 14: and I'll have to you know, try to get some
- 1:15:37Speaker 14: clarification on that and how we're going to do this
- 1:15:39Speaker 14: going forward, but proud of the guys and how the
- 1:15:44Speaker 14: way they competed.
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: And now great moments in history. You never get into
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: what is that hideous shirt you're wearing?
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: It come with the frog colors, that shark.
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: It's a polo. It's a green polo.
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: That's not green.
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: It is green, and it's got mustard all over the
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: front of it.
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: So it's like almost like the color of my Granny
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: Smith apple.
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: But that's not green. That's lose.
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: That's a good point ugly shirt distracts people from his face.
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: Well wow, wow, Yeah, he's.
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: Just so mean. I can't believe he's ruined that. Wow.
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: What is that bag that you're wearing? That's another great moment.
- 1:16:25Speaker 4: All right back here on Patriots on Filtered eight five five,
- 1:16:28Speaker 4: Pats five hundred is the hotline podcast at patriots dot
- 1:16:31Speaker 4: com is the email address. We've got a ton of emails,
- 1:16:35Speaker 4: so I'm gonna get to some. I know you're calling
- 1:16:37Speaker 4: in as well, but I just want to get to
- 1:16:40Speaker 4: some of these emails.
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: Nicholas writes in, and he's Esquire, by the way, so.
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: We should probably take this one a little bit more.
- 1:16:46Speaker 4: Certain, Yes, Philip, so I says Pat's fan here from
- 1:16:49Speaker 4: Saint Louis.
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: Love the show.
- 1:16:50Speaker 4: It's one of the few podcasts that offers great insights
- 1:16:53Speaker 4: and isn't afraid to keep it real. Shout out to
- 1:16:56Speaker 4: Paulie says, now that we've beaten.
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: Buffalo, I'm not the only one who keeps Now.
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: That we've beaten Buffalo, what do you think our potential
- 1:17:02Speaker 4: is for the rest of the season.
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: Do you think the Patriots will start to get more
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: attention after this win?
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: It's a good yes and yes.
- 1:17:08Speaker 4: The reason why I asked that wanted to read that
- 1:17:10Speaker 4: email because I wanted to ask everyone, now that we've
- 1:17:15Speaker 4: have you reset your expectations?
- 1:17:17Speaker 6: I have, I said no, I've been on nine wins
- 1:17:20Speaker 6: all along, and I'm staying on nine wins.
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: I have not moved.
- 1:17:23Speaker 6: I mean, I think there'll be some ups and downs
- 1:17:24Speaker 6: continuing along the way. You don't know what injuries are
- 1:17:27Speaker 6: going to strike. They need to fund a running game.
- 1:17:29Speaker 6: But the trajectory is pointed up.
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:17:32Speaker 4: My mind was floor six, ceiling ten, and now I'm
- 1:17:36Speaker 4: veering more to the ceiling.
- 1:17:37Speaker 6: I mean, i'd say the thing that's maybe affecting it
- 1:17:40Speaker 6: a little bit, not quite yet, but it's just the
- 1:17:42Speaker 6: lack of the top dogs really being the top dogs.
- 1:17:44Speaker 6: And now they're right now some new top dogs. But
- 1:17:46Speaker 6: we'll see if they stay top dogs. So that's that's
- 1:17:49Speaker 6: why I'm more interested in. It's just is the power
- 1:17:52Speaker 6: structure of the AFC going to all get a little
- 1:17:54Speaker 6: bit changed this year?
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: I have the same expectations of the Patriots because I
- 1:17:59Speaker 3: thought they were going to be a much improved team,
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: and I thought Mike Rabel would help and that Drake
- 1:18:04Speaker 3: may would get better and all the things that are happening,
- 1:18:06Speaker 3: But the rest of the AFC in their schedule has.
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: Gotten He's anything, if possible.
- 1:18:11Speaker 3: It's somehow it's even easier than what it looked like
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: coming into this season. H factin Baltimore right now, the
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: Bengals look like they might start Joe Flacco moving forward.
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: They's traded for Joe Flacco with the Browns, so he
- 1:18:23Speaker 3: might be their quarterback. Who knows what is going to
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: be going on in Baltimore By the time the Patriots
- 1:18:29Speaker 3: played the Ravens. You know, who's going to be healthy
- 1:18:31Speaker 3: for Baltimore. Are they even going to have a chance
- 1:18:34Speaker 3: still to be competitive this season at that point? If
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: these injuries don't get better for them quickly, so that
- 1:18:40Speaker 3: Ravens game now doesn't look so hard. Now the Tampa
- 1:18:43Speaker 3: game looks harder. I would say Tampa looks like a
- 1:18:45Speaker 3: real legitimate contender. But overall, I think that's the biggest thing,
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: is like this schedule is yeah.
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: And I do my expectations have risen for the Patriots too,
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: And everything you haven't said about the AFC is factual.
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: But I did not think that, and I kept my
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: caveat all year was unless Drake may X, right, I
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: think you've seen Drake may X like he's making the
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: year two leap right in front of us. He's getting
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: better seemingly every game, and that's the big thing. Like
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: Washington last year, I don't think was that much better
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: than they were the previous year. But the quarterback lifts everybody, yep.
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: And in the second half Sunday night, the quarterback helped
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: lift everybody yep. And I can't you can't convince me
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: that the defense doesn't play better because it has belief
- 1:19:41Speaker 2: right in you know, the plays that are being made,
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: but you know, look at the buy in for guys
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: like Booty who's getting one or two targets every week,
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: but seems to make a play or two every week.
- 1:19:52Speaker 2: He's the new David to Mario Douglas. To Mario Douglas
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: like throwing blocks at five foot eight and you know,
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: getting called out by his head coach two weeks in
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: a row for his physicality. Like there's a buy in,
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: And I think it's stems from a belief that they
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: have a quarterback that if they all do their jobs,
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: he'll make sure that he does his and he's gonna
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: help us win. And I do think now I would
- 1:20:15Speaker 2: have thought eight, you know, eight wins was about the moment.
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: I'm up. I'm almost to the point where I would
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: say that if Mike's nine ends up happening, I think
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: you might look it back at that and say, that's
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: a bit of a disappointment. That means they lost to
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: a couple of teams that you probably don't expect them to.
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: Yeah, so they I'm glad you mentioned the pop block
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: because that was on Diggs's thirty yard catch, the one
- 1:20:36Speaker 3: that he broke the tackle and ran after the catch
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: with If you watch that on the All twenty two,
- 1:20:41Speaker 3: there's like four Patriots sprinting to Buffalo bills to get
- 1:20:47Speaker 3: blocks for Diggs once he breaks containing and once he
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: breaks Bishop's tackle, they have booties blocking his guy. Pop
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: Douglas is shot out of a cannon to try to
- 1:20:58Speaker 3: get in front of Diggs to block the unblocked guy.
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: Austin Hooper converts into a blocker and is blocking down
- 1:21:04Speaker 3: the field. On the play, Garrett Bradbury is like twenty
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: yards down the field chasing it from behind, and like
- 1:21:10Speaker 3: that those types of things when you see that, like
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: that is like culture, Like when you talk about building
- 1:21:15Speaker 3: a culture and like effort and finish and all the
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: different stupid tropes that Rabel has, Like I know, like
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: some of that stuff's like corny and like cliche, but
- 1:21:24Speaker 3: like that is like that is where it comes out.
- 1:21:27Speaker 3: It's not like the raw Ross speeches and all that
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: kind of stuff. It's when you turn the film on
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: and like there's blue hats just flying to the football
- 1:21:35Speaker 3: at all times on offense and defense. Like that's that's
- 1:21:39Speaker 3: the team that is bought into what they're doing.
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: Yep, iron shopper AND's iron right.
- 1:21:44Speaker 4: Michael writes in remember when Fred was wared that Diggs
- 1:21:47Speaker 4: was being too emotional before the game. I think after
- 1:21:50Speaker 4: a ten for one forty six game. He can be
- 1:21:53Speaker 4: as emotional as he wants. He's the type of player
- 1:21:55Speaker 4: that feeds off that energy and absolutely plays his best
- 1:21:58Speaker 4: when he's playing with emotion. I understand the concerns, especially
- 1:22:01Speaker 4: how he has acted in the past, but he is
- 1:22:03Speaker 4: now an eleven year vet and it's definitely grown up
- 1:22:06Speaker 4: quite a bit. My opinion, he was the exact kind
- 1:22:08Speaker 4: of veteran leadership we needed on this team.
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: It's the biggest surprise for me.
- 1:22:13Speaker 4: I mean, I you know, well, listen, okay, he can
- 1:22:17Speaker 4: blob me if he My point was, what if it
- 1:22:20Speaker 4: didn't what if he didn't get those targets? That was
- 1:22:23Speaker 4: my thing is he's all worked out that if it
- 1:22:25Speaker 4: doesn't work out, you continue on, because I yeah, I mean,
- 1:22:29Speaker 4: it's great that he he showed up and showed out
- 1:22:33Speaker 4: so great. Great, But you know, I stand by what
- 1:22:37Speaker 4: I said.
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: Last Wednesday in the locker room.
- 1:22:39Speaker 6: There was just something, a little bit, a little fire
- 1:22:41Speaker 6: in his eye that he could kind of sense that
- 1:22:43Speaker 6: he was looking at this game different. And I don't
- 1:22:46Speaker 6: know what. I don't know what Stefan Diggs was like
- 1:22:48Speaker 6: early in his career. I don't know what kind of
- 1:22:50Speaker 6: guy or leader he was within the locker room. I
- 1:22:52Speaker 6: wasn't there to see it, but I wasn't expecting him
- 1:22:55Speaker 6: to be such a force on this team that everybody
- 1:22:57Speaker 6: seems to really be rallying around. And I think the
- 1:23:01Speaker 6: wide receiver room needed this leadership. They needed this kind
- 1:23:04Speaker 6: of guy who can also back it up with the
- 1:23:06Speaker 6: talent on the field. And you know, I think that's
- 1:23:08Speaker 6: part of what's keeping guys like Booty in line or
- 1:23:11Speaker 6: you know, allowing them to stay patient. I mean, I
- 1:23:13Speaker 6: said to Paul Evan, like mac hollins, he has no
- 1:23:16Speaker 6: problem running like sixty go routes a game and just
- 1:23:19Speaker 6: clearing out like he's not really getting targeted at all.
- 1:23:22Speaker 6: But he's the kind of guy that Josh knows that
- 1:23:24Speaker 6: you're going to block and you're going to run down
- 1:23:26Speaker 6: the field today and you might not have a catch.
- 1:23:28Speaker 6: And I think that, you know, so I think that
- 1:23:30Speaker 6: room has a good dynamic last year, and it's completely
- 1:23:32Speaker 6: changed from what it was last year when they were
- 1:23:34Speaker 6: just up and down and immature.
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: Diggs has been really good in the leadership role. You know,
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: I'm still a little skeptical of how long like long term,
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: if that will continue, but yeah, they've gotten everything they
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: could have possibly wanted out of him on and off
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: the field.
- 1:23:49Speaker 7: Yeah, and it's two hundred yard games in a row.
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: So like as much as this was like getting up
- 1:23:54Speaker 3: for Buffalo for him, like this game was obviously special
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: for him, but even still like the Carolina game, it
- 1:23:59Speaker 3: was already really good against Carolina and you could feel
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: that he was starting to perform at a much higher level.
- 1:24:06Speaker 3: But I mentioned this to you guys off the air.
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: I don't know if we posted it, but he when
- 1:24:11Speaker 3: he ran on the field, he didn't come out for
- 1:24:14Speaker 3: early warm ups, he didn't come out for T shirt warmups.
- 1:24:16Speaker 3: He came out for jersey warm ups, and he ran
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: on the field and he was like dancing like as
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: he was running on the field, and he just like
- 1:24:25Speaker 3: had this like swagger to him that like you could
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: just tell that he was like in a zone already
- 1:24:31Speaker 3: in the game hadn't even started yet, and like, when's
- 1:24:34Speaker 3: the last time a Patriots receiver has had that kind
- 1:24:37Speaker 3: of swag?
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: You know, he's than anyone we've had for a while.
- 1:24:42Speaker 2: Yeah, there was a comment that he made to Melissa
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: Stark too. I forget what it was now though, but
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: it was just like talking. It was like there's a
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: lot of conference, a lot of swag. Yeah, he was
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: ready to go. He's all sweaty before the game, he
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: was all lathered up. You could tell he had a
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: little different look.
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: Ye get to New Orleans this week.
- 1:24:59Speaker 4: Yeah, this seems Mailer calls himself the gripes of wrath
- 1:25:02Speaker 4: in Las Vegas. First time emailer, medium time listener. Which
- 1:25:07Speaker 4: decision by the Bills do you think was worse one
- 1:25:10Speaker 4: trying to throw it on Christian Gonzalez's direction on critical
- 1:25:13Speaker 4: downs or two wearing a blizzard uniform while it's eighty
- 1:25:17Speaker 4: three degrees out. In all seriousness, my question is do
- 1:25:20Speaker 4: you think our receiver corps Stefan Diggs looks so good
- 1:25:24Speaker 4: because of the lack of secondary of the Bills. I
- 1:25:26Speaker 4: thought I remembered hearing that they were banged up in
- 1:25:28Speaker 4: missing key pieces. Just wanted to get your thoughts. Although
- 1:25:32Speaker 4: I know you will provide insightful analysis, I'm really looking
- 1:25:35Speaker 4: for confirmation bias that we back.
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: Also, overall, great.
- 1:25:39Speaker 4: Performance by the Patriots and I'm stoked for the rest
- 1:25:42Speaker 4: of the season. Let's bring it back, Fred, say it
- 1:25:44Speaker 4: with me. Fifteen to two was still on the table.
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: It is.
- 1:25:48Speaker 3: Their defense does have some injuries, not so much in
- 1:25:51Speaker 3: the secondary. You know, they didn't have Oliver in this game,
- 1:25:53Speaker 3: and Matt Milano was in and out of the game,
- 1:25:56Speaker 3: and I don't think he really played in the second half.
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: Yeah, his absence was not in the second half. But
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: that's yeah, I thought they got beat by I actually
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: think the Bill's defense played pretty well. I think they
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: got beat by just superior individual performances by the quarterback
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: and the number one wide receiver. Yeah, like, how like,
- 1:26:15Speaker 2: I don't know, what do you do different if you're
- 1:26:17Speaker 2: like on the sideline with Stefan Diggs on that plank.
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: I mean, and I would say, pick any of one
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: of three or four plays. You know, maybe they could
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: have tackled him better at times in the course of
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: the field, But those toe taps on the sideline, It's
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: not like he was wide open and easily caught the
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: He had like tiny window that Draked threw it through
- 1:26:36Speaker 2: and then unbelievable hands catches while getting your feet down
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: that thirty one that with the anticipation on the broken
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: play down to the sideline. That wasn't bad coverage. Yeah, No,
- 1:26:46Speaker 2: And that's having like a tiny window to throw it.
- 1:26:48Speaker 6: How many times did we see that the shoes on
- 1:26:50Speaker 6: the other foot when it was Josh Allen throwing those
- 1:26:52Speaker 6: passes to Stefon Diggs and you're like, it's third and
- 1:26:54Speaker 6: eight and you're like, and it's just an absolute pinpoint.
- 1:26:57Speaker 6: He taps his toes and first down. I mean, it
- 1:27:00Speaker 6: was nice to be on this side.
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: I actually because I didn't I don't think a whole
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: lot of the Buffalo defense and all. And we talked
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: to a guy from the Buffalo News, Jay Skirsky, before
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: the game. I said, is the run defense as bad
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: as the numbers look? Or is it? No? No, he goes, well,
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: they struggle to stop the run.
- 1:27:15Speaker 14: It's not.
- 1:27:16Speaker 2: It's not deceptive. They have a hard time. And you know,
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: I thought they did a pretty good job against the run.
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: And then you're looking and you know they blitched at times.
- 1:27:25Speaker 2: They just got pressure with four at times, like I
- 1:27:27Speaker 2: just thought they flushed Drake out of the pocket. They
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: made him make some quick throws. I thought guys were
- 1:27:33Speaker 2: in the area. I didn't see a lot of just
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: like blowing coverages. I just saw Drake May and Stefan
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: Diggs be better than the guys that were out there.
- 1:27:40Speaker 3: I think that's what's more most encouraging about it is
- 1:27:42Speaker 3: that there wasn't like any of the like bills beating
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: themselves things. And they do a really good job in disguising.
- 1:27:48Speaker 3: They were spinning the dial like crazy on them, you know,
- 1:27:50Speaker 3: going one high, two high pictures, and they were they
- 1:27:53Speaker 3: were really trying to confuse him, and he read it
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: out like he saw all their different disguises are dropping
- 1:28:00Speaker 3: safeties from like the first and second level into the
- 1:28:02Speaker 3: DP paths and things like that, and he's seeing it,
- 1:28:04Speaker 3: you know, processing it cleanly.
- 1:28:06Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:28:07Speaker 3: The throwers you know, throw to Henry right up the
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: scene he sees, you know, he try it, thinks he
- 1:28:12Speaker 3: has one on one on the outside, and they spin
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: it into too high and he comes right off it
- 1:28:16Speaker 3: and goes right into the middle of the field to
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: the open part of the zone. And like, they're just
- 1:28:20Speaker 3: different things that they were doing that We're just they
- 1:28:22Speaker 3: were just executing at a higher level than the right.
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: Dan and Poughkeepsie, what's up, Dan?
- 1:28:28Speaker 4: Hey?
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: You guys?
- 1:28:31Speaker 12: All right?
- 1:28:32Speaker 8: So I really wanted to gush and ask about one
- 1:28:35Speaker 8: specific play. It was the first play on the game
- 1:28:38Speaker 8: winning drive, by Drake May. Obviously the best play I've
- 1:28:42Speaker 8: ever seen the kid make. But Evan, do you know
- 1:28:45Speaker 8: the play I'm talking about?
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: Yep?
- 1:28:48Speaker 8: Okay, do you have any running series on what Josh
- 1:28:51Speaker 8: was cooking up on that play? Like I saw Will
- 1:28:53Speaker 8: Campbell go to the other side? Yeah, do you have
- 1:28:55Speaker 8: any running series?
- 1:28:56Speaker 3: I was just curious counter bash baby, Yeah, it's count
- 1:29:00Speaker 3: bash and they did not bash.
- 1:29:03Speaker 7: Yeah, they thank you, Fred.
- 1:29:04Speaker 3: Yeah, it's an option play, as I way over explained
- 1:29:08Speaker 3: it last week. Yeah, option play and they just they
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: just didn't block it very well. And Bill's just had
- 1:29:16Speaker 3: you know, it's interesting, like these are little things. And
- 1:29:18Speaker 3: Drake May said that, you know, he was looking at
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: the stills when Borgolis was kicking the field goal, partially
- 1:29:25Speaker 3: because he didn't want to watch, but he also said
- 1:29:27Speaker 3: that he messed something up in the Running Game. And
- 1:29:30Speaker 3: I do think there are you know, I don't know,
- 1:29:32Speaker 3: I'm not in the meeting rooms. I can't tell you
- 1:29:34Speaker 3: exactly what they're how they're telling him to coach things,
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: but there are times where they run in the Run game,
- 1:29:41Speaker 3: specifically where they're running a play and I'm like, yeah,
- 1:29:45Speaker 3: that play is not going to work against that front
- 1:29:48Speaker 3: and they don't get out of the play. And I
- 1:29:50Speaker 3: thought that was one of those times because they the
- 1:29:52Speaker 3: Bills had a three technique over inside the b gap,
- 1:29:56Speaker 3: over the guard and the tackle that we're pulling, and
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: Bradbury has to get all all the way from center,
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: snap the ball and get all the way out to
- 1:30:03Speaker 3: the three technique and block the three technique. And I
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: just don't think that you're going to be able to
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: do that like that. That three tech is just gonna
- 1:30:11Speaker 3: fly right up the field exactly like he did, and
- 1:30:13Speaker 3: he was on top of Drake. So I think that
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: that was one of those plays where they probably would
- 1:30:18Speaker 3: have liked that to as they say, can can you know?
- 1:30:21Speaker 3: Yeah and get out of that one?
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: Thanks Dan. Let's go to Chicago. Nate's there. What's up? Nate? Nate? Chicago? Nate? Okay,
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: Nate is late. Let's go to Brian and Lowell. What's up? Brian?
- 1:30:41Speaker 4: Brian and Lowell going three once twice, three times?
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: You're out? Okay, back to the emails. The lines are
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: open up if you want to call in.
- 1:30:53Speaker 4: Let's go Sam and Saint Catharine's obviously on cloud nine
- 1:30:57Speaker 4: after the win. But is it crazy to think we
- 1:31:00Speaker 4: could sweep the AFC East six and oh Jets are awful.
- 1:31:05Speaker 4: Dolphins we get at the end of the year at home,
- 1:31:08Speaker 4: which they'll be packed up and can't play in the cold.
- 1:31:10Speaker 4: The only toss up is Buffalo, who we get at
- 1:31:13Speaker 4: home coming off our bye.
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: This is unbelievable.
- 1:31:16Speaker 3: So I was looking at the week fifteen slate flex flex,
- 1:31:22Speaker 3: The flex is in play.
- 1:31:24Speaker 7: It's in play.
- 1:31:25Speaker 3: I think that the one of the primetime games is
- 1:31:29Speaker 3: like Steelers against such it's it's not a good game
- 1:31:32Speaker 3: on paper anymore.
- 1:31:33Speaker 7: And if that's like low.
- 1:31:36Speaker 3: Key for the AFC East, like, is there a chance
- 1:31:39Speaker 3: that that gets flexed in the primetime.
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: Hat and T shirt game?
- 1:31:43Speaker 7: Well, I mean, I don't.
- 1:31:44Speaker 3: Think they're going to clinch the AFCs in Week fifteen, but.
- 1:31:46Speaker 2: I mean it's it. These kinds of things are in
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: play when you go to Buffalo and beat Bills. These
- 1:31:53Speaker 2: kinds of emails are not out of the questions. Well speaking, yes,
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: they could speaking of flexing.
- 1:31:59Speaker 4: Next week's game was originally a four to twenty five
- 1:32:01Speaker 4: game and it got moved to one.
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: Do you think they're regretting that New Orleans? No, but
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: they're playing better.
- 1:32:09Speaker 2: Like I don't know why you think they're playing better.
- 1:32:11Speaker 2: They're terrible. I mean, you're just trying to like pump
- 1:32:15Speaker 2: up the Patriots because I'm on board with that. You're
- 1:32:17Speaker 2: trying to help Mike.
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: Their games have been competitive, you.
- 1:32:20Speaker 2: Know, they play bad teams and they really haven't. Like
- 1:32:25Speaker 2: they lost like forty eight to three to Seattle, Like,
- 1:32:27Speaker 2: I don't that was early. It was like, okay, well,
- 1:32:29Speaker 2: the last game they played, the other team turned it
- 1:32:31Speaker 2: over five times in a row and they won, like
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: the Giant can. They're terrible. They're a terrible team too,
- 1:32:36Speaker 2: and by the way, we'll see them soon.
- 1:32:39Speaker 6: One question of the panel, though, is could this running
- 1:32:42Speaker 6: game be the fatal flaw that kind of helps forces
- 1:32:45Speaker 6: the Patriots to struggle a little bit on offense going forward,
- 1:32:49Speaker 6: Like is is the running game important enough? They've been
- 1:32:51Speaker 6: hit with injuries. We're not sure what's going on over more,
- 1:32:54Speaker 6: Trevion still depends. I mean, right now, it seems like
- 1:32:57Speaker 6: you're asking a lot of Drake May to single handedly
- 1:33:00Speaker 6: lead this team through the next games of the season.
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: I was gonna wait till later in the week I
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: would say I understand Evan's point about like the then
- 1:33:09Speaker 2: that excites me. The most, and I would agree with
- 1:33:12Speaker 2: him that's that. Then it excited me the most, like
- 1:33:14Speaker 2: May and Diggs doing all these plays and making like
- 1:33:17Speaker 2: because you're good enough to do it, you're showing you
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: that you're good enough to do it. But it's also
- 1:33:20Speaker 2: the thing that worries me the most because I don't
- 1:33:22Speaker 2: think that you're going to complete all those passes on
- 1:33:24Speaker 2: a regular basis.
- 1:33:25Speaker 3: But we've seen them do the other thing against the
- 1:33:27Speaker 3: Carolinas and the Miamis and the Pittsburgh's of the world,
- 1:33:29Speaker 3: where they can scheme it up and they can get
- 1:33:31Speaker 3: guys open, you know, and not have to have Drake May.
- 1:33:35Speaker 2: So let me get just like, you know, Buffalo, we
- 1:33:39Speaker 2: know is good, but let's just say, like, let's go
- 1:33:41Speaker 2: to like Cleveland. Yeah, Cleveland's got a pretty good defense,
- 1:33:44Speaker 2: and I know it's really hard to win that way
- 1:33:46Speaker 2: with just a great defense and you're gonna win thirteen
- 1:33:48Speaker 2: to ten. But that's how they want to try to play. Like.
- 1:33:51Speaker 2: I could see Miles Garrett making Drake May consistently have
- 1:33:55Speaker 2: to run to the right sideline all day. I could
- 1:33:57Speaker 2: absolutely see that happening. I also know that John, we
- 1:34:00Speaker 2: can get to the game plan in three weeks. Josh
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: McDaniels and those guys will have a game plan specifically
- 1:34:05Speaker 2: for Miles Garrett. We know that, but I could understand
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: sometimes their guy is just better. You know. That's a
- 1:34:13Speaker 2: hard way to win. That's a hard way to win.
- 1:34:16Speaker 2: The way that they won the other night like that
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: was like some high level stuff with May and Diggs.
- 1:34:22Speaker 2: And I keep saying both because I don't think just
- 1:34:24Speaker 2: any receiver makes those catches that that digs me made
- 1:34:28Speaker 2: at least three or four catches that I don't think
- 1:34:30Speaker 2: anybody else on the Patriots would have made.
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: Making the catch and then making that guy on him miss.
- 1:34:34Speaker 2: No, I'm talking about the ones on the sideline. Yeah,
- 1:34:36Speaker 2: the ones in the in the field of play were
- 1:34:38Speaker 2: on a point right there. And I know Tredevius White,
- 1:34:42Speaker 2: I said it before the game, and Tredevious White's clearly
- 1:34:45Speaker 2: on the back nine, but he was in reasonably good
- 1:34:47Speaker 2: position a number of times, and May just made the
- 1:34:51Speaker 2: throw anywhere. What if that throw is a little bit different,
- 1:34:55Speaker 2: you know. That's what I you know, for Mike's concerns,
- 1:34:57Speaker 2: but my biggest concern is just everybody else is g
- 1:35:00Speaker 2: geting butchered with injuries. Like, are you're just going to
- 1:35:03Speaker 2: be that one team? Sometimes that happens. Yeah, Buffalo didn't
- 1:35:06Speaker 2: really get a lot of injuries last year, Washington either,
- 1:35:09Speaker 2: So sometimes you're just the one outlier that you don't
- 1:35:12Speaker 2: get banged up. I worry about the depth a little bit.
- 1:35:14Speaker 2: And if they lost some guys.
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: Yep uh Joel and Otawa.
- 1:35:18Speaker 4: I'm not just pandering to Mike, but the Ravens seem
- 1:35:21Speaker 4: to be on a downward spiral. Henry is pricey. What
- 1:35:24Speaker 4: would this trade look like?
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: Derrick Henry, Derek Henry not trading?
- 1:35:29Speaker 2: I just like, yeah, I don't think I don't. I mean,
- 1:35:33Speaker 2: I never like to say never because third runner.
- 1:35:37Speaker 3: I don't see like the need for them to trade
- 1:35:40Speaker 3: for like a true like stud lead back, like like
- 1:35:44Speaker 3: a Derek Henry.
- 1:35:44Speaker 2: Agree, why do you want to waste anything?
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: Right?
- 1:35:46Speaker 3: Like, I don't think that it's that serious, Like I
- 1:35:49Speaker 3: know everybody's out on reminder with the fumbling.
- 1:35:51Speaker 7: I get it, it can't he's.
- 1:35:53Speaker 4: Got to stop forget about it being serious. Even if
- 1:35:57Speaker 4: even forget about the fumbling. If Henry was availab would
- 1:36:00Speaker 4: you go get them?
- 1:36:01Speaker 5: No?
- 1:36:02Speaker 3: I mean depends on what for Like if you want
- 1:36:04Speaker 3: if like no, No, I mean for what trade compensation like,
- 1:36:08Speaker 3: and it's like, you know, if it's a Day three pick,
- 1:36:12Speaker 3: tell me for.
- 1:36:13Speaker 2: Like another receiver to go with Diggs. Sure, Like now
- 1:36:15Speaker 2: my offense is like totent. I don't need a running
- 1:36:19Speaker 2: back to do that, you know me.
- 1:36:22Speaker 7: I think the.
- 1:36:22Speaker 3: Running game thing is is a legitimate concern, but I
- 1:36:25Speaker 3: also think that they're still able to script things off
- 1:36:29Speaker 3: the running game. Even though the run game itself has
- 1:36:31Speaker 3: not been overly productive, the play action passing game has.
- 1:36:35Speaker 3: The option plays that they're running with Drake have been
- 1:36:37Speaker 3: mostly productive. Uh, they're still able to move the pocket
- 1:36:41Speaker 3: off the run action. So like as long as the
- 1:36:43Speaker 3: run is good enough that it's setting up the pass.
- 1:36:46Speaker 3: Because the one thing that the run game isn't doing
- 1:36:48Speaker 3: is it's not going backwards. They're not getting a lot
- 1:36:51Speaker 3: of negative runs. They're just not breaking a lot of
- 1:36:54Speaker 3: runs to really drive up the efficiency. So they're still
- 1:36:59Speaker 3: moving the ball three or four yards at a time,
- 1:37:02Speaker 3: which is just enough to and he make the defense.
- 1:37:05Speaker 4: Even then, like as it stands right now, if you
- 1:37:08Speaker 4: forget about the fumbling, which is hard to do, I
- 1:37:11Speaker 4: grant it, we have two decent backs, and I think
- 1:37:16Speaker 4: a good, good enough line where we can stay balanced.
- 1:37:20Speaker 4: If we're not turning it over, we can play a
- 1:37:22Speaker 4: balanced offense still. Now if you get one injury, another injury,
- 1:37:27Speaker 4: we're in trouble.
- 1:37:30Speaker 3: But that's my point is with the balance, like, they're
- 1:37:32Speaker 3: still able to be balanced. So just your passing game
- 1:37:35Speaker 3: is just going to be the better part of your offense.
- 1:37:38Speaker 3: But as long as you can kick it that way,
- 1:37:39Speaker 3: the balance whereas like when you get into real trouble
- 1:37:43Speaker 3: is when the run game is constantly going backwards and
- 1:37:46Speaker 3: now you have to abandon the run altogether. That's when
- 1:37:49Speaker 3: it starts to get it to be a problem.
- 1:37:51Speaker 2: That's why said I don't think they need like Derek Henry,
- 1:37:53Speaker 2: like you can, you could run the ball. They need
- 1:37:55Speaker 2: to run it a little bit better than they have,
- 1:37:57Speaker 2: but it hasn't been to the point where they can't
- 1:37:59Speaker 2: run at all because.
- 1:38:00Speaker 4: They can't get any If you're gonna stick with Remondre,
- 1:38:04Speaker 4: which they might have to, how this fumbling is is
- 1:38:07Speaker 4: going to affect his running style because he's best when
- 1:38:11Speaker 4: he's breaking tackles.
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: I'm not worried about contact.
- 1:38:14Speaker 4: And I can't see how he's not going to be
- 1:38:17Speaker 4: affected by I can't fumble the ball.
- 1:38:20Speaker 6: I mean, do you think there's a chance that Reminder
- 1:38:21Speaker 6: receives in this year, gets back into form and you
- 1:38:24Speaker 6: have trust in him, and every time he carries the ball,
- 1:38:28Speaker 6: it doesn't look like it's rock'm socking robots and anybody
- 1:38:31Speaker 6: trying to tackle him.
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: It's just coming in with the haymakers.
- 1:38:33Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:38:33Speaker 6: And can he do enough this year then to be
- 1:38:36Speaker 6: that back going forward or do you feel like it's
- 1:38:38Speaker 6: kind of an I mean like in my mind, I
- 1:38:40Speaker 6: feel like, yeah, we'll get through this year with Remondre,
- 1:38:42Speaker 6: but next year RB one is the need to me,
- 1:38:45Speaker 6: we need a guy that we can trust, and I
- 1:38:47Speaker 6: just I don't know if I can ever regain that
- 1:38:49Speaker 6: trust in Remondre. Even if he makes it through this
- 1:38:51Speaker 6: year without eight fumbles again, you know, maybe it's just
- 1:38:54Speaker 6: one more.
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: I still don't know how he can.
- 1:38:56Speaker 3: It's a legitimate long term concern. I don't think they
- 1:38:59Speaker 3: really haven't any choice is right now to get out
- 1:39:01Speaker 3: of it. But in the offseason, like if you want
- 1:39:04Speaker 3: to get you know, your David Montgomery to your Jamier Gibbs,
- 1:39:07Speaker 3: a Trevon Henderson, and you go out and get another
- 1:39:10Speaker 3: sort of between the tackles early down back then like
- 1:39:13Speaker 3: you you might be in the market for that.
- 1:39:14Speaker 6: What do you guys think of him as a running
- 1:39:15Speaker 6: back just outside of the fumbles, like, because there have
- 1:39:18Speaker 6: been games over the years where like great game by Remandra,
- 1:39:21Speaker 6: he's tough to bring down, he's got good hands, he's
- 1:39:23Speaker 6: a three down back.
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: He can kind of do it all.
- 1:39:26Speaker 6: But at the same time, you have plenty of games
- 1:39:28Speaker 6: where it's like completely ineffective, did nothing today, you know,
- 1:39:31Speaker 6: And I know that's a function of the offense too,
- 1:39:32Speaker 6: But I just.
- 1:39:33Speaker 2: Think he's okay.
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: I think he's okay.
- 1:39:34Speaker 2: I think he's a good, solid, middle of the road
- 1:39:38Speaker 2: starting running back. But I don't look at him like
- 1:39:43Speaker 2: like Josh Jacobs. I think is better than that, you know,
- 1:39:46Speaker 2: those kinds of guys that do a little bit of everything.
- 1:39:50Speaker 2: I like Stevenson's versatility. I think he's underrated in the
- 1:39:53Speaker 2: passing game, both as a blocker as a receiver. But
- 1:39:58Speaker 2: you guys are right, I mean, if you can't hold
- 1:39:59Speaker 2: onto the oh, he says it more than anybody.
- 1:40:01Speaker 6: I mean there's probably maybe five games in his career
- 1:40:03Speaker 6: that you can look at and be like he was
- 1:40:05Speaker 6: dominant that those five, But you know it's been he's
- 1:40:07Speaker 6: been here for five years, you know, like it's been
- 1:40:09Speaker 6: a while.
- 1:40:10Speaker 3: I just don't think he's a game breaking But I
- 1:40:13Speaker 3: just don't think like as long he's he's good enough
- 1:40:16Speaker 3: that if they have good blocking, then their run game
- 1:40:18Speaker 3: is going to.
- 1:40:19Speaker 4: Be I also think he's been hurt over the last
- 1:40:21Speaker 4: couple of years by the lack of an offense in general.
- 1:40:25Speaker 4: I mean, like we say, they've been easy to defend, terrible.
- 1:40:28Speaker 4: You don't have to worry about the outside down deep.
- 1:40:30Speaker 4: So we're going to pack the middle. It's going to
- 1:40:32Speaker 4: be eight in the box and it's hard to run
- 1:40:35Speaker 4: against for anybody.
- 1:40:36Speaker 2: Sixteen arms trying and you're one thousand percent right, Like,
- 1:40:40Speaker 2: they haven't had a good offense. And I don't care
- 1:40:42Speaker 2: who you are, Derrick Henry, I think would have offensive line. Yeah,
- 1:40:45Speaker 2: I just look at when when creases are there and
- 1:40:51Speaker 2: he's had one of those five good games that you're
- 1:40:53Speaker 2: talking about, do you have a look at him and
- 1:40:54Speaker 2: say that was an electric run. I don't think he
- 1:40:56Speaker 2: has that.
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: Maybe I think game he scored in as a rookie, I.
- 1:41:00Speaker 2: Think Devin pointed out Carolina he had like a long
- 1:41:04Speaker 2: run against Carolina and he like got tackled, and as
- 1:41:07Speaker 2: he got tackled, you went. And Rabel actually said the
- 1:41:10Speaker 2: same thing, like we had one more guy to take
- 1:41:12Speaker 2: care of, and I think heaven kind of thought the
- 1:41:15Speaker 2: running back should have been explosive enough to take care
- 1:41:17Speaker 2: of that on his own. Yeah, And I don't.
- 1:41:19Speaker 3: Even when he has a good free safety.
- 1:41:21Speaker 2: He's a good player, like Demandra Stevenson is a good player.
- 1:41:26Speaker 2: I just want to, you know, restate that because it's
- 1:41:29Speaker 2: not like I think he's you know, without talent. He's
- 1:41:31Speaker 2: a good player. I just don't think he's anything more
- 1:41:33Speaker 2: than that even at his best.
- 1:41:35Speaker 3: I just think I don't care, like there's a bottom
- 1:41:40Speaker 3: running and this isn't like a shot. I just like
- 1:41:42Speaker 3: there's like five running backs in the league that matter.
- 1:41:44Speaker 3: So like, no, he's not in the Saquon Barkley Christian
- 1:41:47Speaker 3: McCaffrey category, but like out of like the rest of
- 1:41:51Speaker 3: the just the guys that are in the league, Like
- 1:41:54Speaker 3: you have one of the.
- 1:41:56Speaker 2: Guys and that's why he even goes. But that's why
- 1:41:59Speaker 2: I didn't go to the Gibbs Robinson, McCaffrey, like Josh Jacobs,
- 1:42:05Speaker 2: Like this is in every down back who's kind of
- 1:42:08Speaker 2: a traditional bat. He'll catch some passes to I think
- 1:42:11Speaker 2: when he gets creases their bigger plays than what Rimandre
- 1:42:16Speaker 2: gets with you know. I you know, we get into
- 1:42:18Speaker 2: all the EPA and all that stuff, but like, I
- 1:42:20Speaker 2: don't think he gets much more than he breaks tackles.
- 1:42:24Speaker 2: Like he's hard to tackle when he's leathered up and
- 1:42:26Speaker 2: he's going. But I don't think he like makes these
- 1:42:29Speaker 2: big runs because he just made two guys miss in
- 1:42:32Speaker 2: the open field.
- 1:42:33Speaker 3: Yeah they got they gotta get, you know, right now,
- 1:42:37Speaker 3: I don't see them getting a lot of second level
- 1:42:41Speaker 3: blocks from the offensive line and the tight ends where
- 1:42:44Speaker 3: they're really you know, right now, they're taking care of
- 1:42:48Speaker 3: the bigs. And that's why you don't have any negative runs.
- 1:42:51Speaker 3: Is like the defensive line isn't getting into the backfield
- 1:42:54Speaker 3: and making plays in the backfield, but they're not getting
- 1:42:56Speaker 3: up to the linebacker level to really spring the running
- 1:43:00Speaker 3: back on these big runs. And that's how you spring
- 1:43:03Speaker 3: it is when you can get you know, guards and
- 1:43:05Speaker 3: tackles and tight ends and guys up to the second
- 1:43:08Speaker 3: level of the defense and really get you know, hats
- 1:43:11Speaker 3: on those linebackers. So like to me, like when I
- 1:43:13Speaker 3: watch their run game. It's definitely more a product of
- 1:43:16Speaker 3: blocking than it is the guys carrying the football.
- 1:43:19Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:43:19Speaker 3: The one little nippick I'd have about garrying the football
- 1:43:22Speaker 3: is like these outside zone runs, like they're just ramming
- 1:43:25Speaker 3: it right and like into the line of scrimmage on
- 1:43:28Speaker 3: some of those. I would like to see a little
- 1:43:30Speaker 3: bit more patients to let the cutback lanes develop a
- 1:43:33Speaker 3: little bit more. Like when you see teams that are
- 1:43:35Speaker 3: really good at outside zone, there's like a dance like
- 1:43:39Speaker 3: rhythm to it where it's like, you know, you kind
- 1:43:42Speaker 3: of paste it out and it strings out and then
- 1:43:45Speaker 3: they cut up the field right up the middle of
- 1:43:46Speaker 3: the field and it's gone. Like Patriots don't have a
- 1:43:49Speaker 3: ton of those types of outside zone runs, but overall,
- 1:43:53Speaker 3: like they get like the first two to three yards blocked,
- 1:43:57Speaker 3: they just need to get them up into the second
- 1:43:59Speaker 3: and third level more often.
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: Nola's in Austin, Texas. What's up, Nola? Nola?
- 1:44:07Speaker 15: How do you sorry about that? First and foremost its
- 1:44:13Speaker 15: first time caller, But I absolutely loved watching the game. Yes,
- 1:44:17Speaker 15: it was kind of rough in the first tet, but
- 1:44:20Speaker 15: we got our win. I had a few things I
- 1:44:25Speaker 15: feel like Carlton Davis is still kind of disappinting as
- 1:44:30Speaker 15: I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but watching that game,
- 1:44:33Speaker 15: it felt like he really wasn't much of an impact
- 1:44:35Speaker 15: other than letting big plays happen potentially. And then the
- 1:44:40Speaker 15: other thing is is now I'm kind of kind of
- 1:44:43Speaker 15: worried that this thing's game might be a trap game
- 1:44:45Speaker 15: for us. Just wanted to hear it could be.
- 1:44:50Speaker 4: It could be funny that your name's Nola.
- 1:44:53Speaker 2: I was thinking that was on the list.
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, Saints could be a trap game.
- 1:44:58Speaker 4: But Carlton Davis, he flash, he had a nice pressure
- 1:45:01Speaker 4: that caused it incomplete and you know, did let up
- 1:45:06Speaker 4: a couple of plays.
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: But I think he's the number two cornerback.
- 1:45:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that that's sort of where the Yeah,
- 1:45:11Speaker 3: maybe my disconnect with it was some people is like
- 1:45:15Speaker 3: he's not supposed to be the Christian Gonzale. It's like
- 1:45:17Speaker 3: Christian Gonzalez is supposed to be Christian Gonzalez. He's supposed
- 1:45:20Speaker 3: to be a starting caliber, number two cornerback.
- 1:45:24Speaker 7: Now, they paid him a little bit more.
- 1:45:25Speaker 3: Than that, but that's because they went into free agency
- 1:45:27Speaker 3: to get him, So you're gonna pay top dollar when
- 1:45:30Speaker 3: you go into the market to get displayed. And I
- 1:45:32Speaker 3: think he's been exactly what they wanted, which is to
- 1:45:35Speaker 3: have a stable, consistent player to play opposite of Gonzo.
- 1:45:39Speaker 6: Yeah, like they used the Coleman third down play where
- 1:45:41Speaker 6: they just toss it up to I said to Paul,
- 1:45:44Speaker 6: and that's the matchup you want.
- 1:45:45Speaker 2: You want your big cornerback on their big receiver.
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: They're going to try to just throw it up to him.
- 1:45:49Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: I was really impressed with him.
- 1:45:50Speaker 6: And there were a number of plays where you just
- 1:45:53Speaker 6: it just looked like great defense. It looked like the
- 1:45:55Speaker 6: rush was getting there. It looked like everybody was kind
- 1:45:57Speaker 6: of locked out.
- 1:45:58Speaker 7: Very jazz.
- 1:45:58Speaker 4: I was.
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: I was jazz. Yeah he is, Uh, Brian's and Lowell
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: he's calling in again. What's up, Brian? Okay, what's up?
- 1:46:11Speaker 2: Oh there?
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: He is all right?
- 1:46:14Speaker 8: Hey.
- 1:46:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: What's you guys thinking about the game on Sunday night? Huh? Sweet?
- 1:46:18Speaker 2: Yeah? Who won?
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: Have you been listening for the last two hours?
- 1:46:25Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:46:25Speaker 4: It was a good game.
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: So you know how we feel. I know, I.
- 1:46:29Speaker 2: Guys really feel I'm pretty hype about it.
- 1:46:31Speaker 4: But that went over the bills.
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: We actually snapped.
- 1:46:33Speaker 11: Around fifteen Winter streak, a long winding streak down going
- 1:46:37Speaker 11: the Bills.
- 1:46:38Speaker 2: Yeah, actually did that too, so not just beating them,
- 1:46:41Speaker 2: but we snapped the winter streak.
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: Yep, they're home winning streak yep, yep. Yeah, on top
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: of it all.
- 1:46:49Speaker 2: But by the way, yeah that kicker regardless.
- 1:46:52Speaker 4: Why do you say his name is man?
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: He's a stud regardless yeap.
- 1:46:57Speaker 2: Oh my god, I was nervous.
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: I was so I'm like, oh my god, make this.
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: I know I was right with you, right with you.
- 1:47:06Speaker 2: Yeah, no gibs and now now gives and gives his injury.
- 1:47:09Speaker 2: Now that's theres man.
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: Yeah, that's tough. Yeah, yeah, you hate to see that.
- 1:47:17Speaker 1: You know, should get if she get Chisholm.
- 1:47:20Speaker 4: Now I think you actively running.
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: Back yep, because yeah, he can run, be running back.
- 1:47:26Speaker 7: He's got pretty good contact back.
- 1:47:28Speaker 2: He could do the right turn kicks in there, right.
- 1:47:33Speaker 1: Thanks a lot to call.
- 1:47:36Speaker 3: It's my favorite trolling us or I think he just
- 1:47:39Speaker 3: wants to chat, checking in boos, seeing what's going on,
- 1:47:42Speaker 3: talking about the game.
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: You want to get hot.
- 1:47:44Speaker 2: You think there's any chance that that's an avenue for
- 1:47:47Speaker 2: Chisholm to be on there, I'm being dead serious. It
- 1:47:49Speaker 2: wasn't ironic at all?
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: Kickoff? Yeah, why not?
- 1:47:52Speaker 2: I'm havingue to get on the game day roster. I
- 1:47:54Speaker 2: mean there's obviously an opening, you know, put him next
- 1:47:57Speaker 2: to Henderson. I think he did a little of that.
- 1:48:00Speaker 2: I know we returned punts. Did he get any kicks too?
- 1:48:02Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:48:04Speaker 7: He doesn't really have the straight line speed.
- 1:48:05Speaker 6: I remember I was thinking about Isaiah Bolden, I mean
- 1:48:07Speaker 6: a long gone now, but you know, he was one
- 1:48:09Speaker 6: guy that I know was in the mix with z.
- 1:48:11Speaker 3: I also wonder if you know this would be two
- 1:48:14Speaker 3: rookies back there, but do you think about Kyle Williams
- 1:48:17Speaker 3: going back there? Who has practice kickoffs? Yeah, quite a bit.
- 1:48:21Speaker 3: And now that those are probably your two fastests.
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: Now you're not adding a roster spot, right, I just want.
- 1:48:27Speaker 3: And maybe not, But like Kyle Williams already is, like
- 1:48:31Speaker 3: you know, had a smaller role on offense, and this
- 1:48:34Speaker 3: might be another way to get his speed to impact
- 1:48:37Speaker 3: the game in some way shape of.
- 1:48:39Speaker 2: He's another one that I noticed on Sunday night there
- 1:48:42Speaker 2: was a little quick uh screen to Douglas and he's
- 1:48:45Speaker 2: out in front blocking someone. It was Taron Johnson. So like, no,
- 1:48:49Speaker 2: but I'm just I'm using it as man like the
- 1:48:52Speaker 2: whole buy in thing. Yeah, might try to like downplay
- 1:48:55Speaker 2: that on Monday when he was asked like, so, what
- 1:48:57Speaker 2: does a win like that do for the buy in? Like,
- 1:49:00Speaker 2: I think he kind of already felt like he had that, so,
- 1:49:02Speaker 2: but I do think there's a lot of evidence that
- 1:49:05Speaker 2: the players are playing at a different level, not so
- 1:49:08Speaker 2: much how well they're playing, but with different levels of
- 1:49:11Speaker 2: intensity and commitment and the finish that that we talk
- 1:49:14Speaker 2: about all the time, that kind of stuff.
- 1:49:16Speaker 3: Kylurams parent, Kyl Williams gets open, Yeah, he gets open
- 1:49:19Speaker 3: on the film. It's not finding him right now, and
- 1:49:22Speaker 3: I'm saying that they like secretly have this like one
- 1:49:24Speaker 3: hundred and fifty yard receiver that like they're just hiding.
- 1:49:27Speaker 3: But you know, he ran like probably about ten rounds
- 1:49:30Speaker 3: in this game, and like he was open on a
- 1:49:32Speaker 3: handful of him. It runs good vertical routes, Like I'm
- 1:49:35Speaker 3: just waiting for him to hit one of those go balls,
- 1:49:37Speaker 3: like that's coming.
- 1:49:38Speaker 2: Be great to see.
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: Drake's just developed.
- 1:49:39Speaker 6: I mean, you clearly see Drake has confidence in throwing
- 1:49:42Speaker 6: a Hunter Henry and throwing a Stefon Diggs right now
- 1:49:44Speaker 6: and the other guys. I think it's a little bit
- 1:49:46Speaker 6: still hit or miss, but I think with I mean
- 1:49:48Speaker 6: one of those throws, I mean, I think the two catches.
- 1:49:50Speaker 6: I think it was the second one. Like it's like
- 1:49:52Speaker 6: twenty yards down the field. That's strike he threw where
- 1:49:55Speaker 6: that I mean, just unbelievable. You know, the trust is there,
- 1:49:58Speaker 6: I'm going to throw it to him. There's a lot
- 1:49:59Speaker 6: of eyes down there, but he comes up with it.
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: Same thing with Diggs.
- 1:50:02Speaker 6: Can another can Kyle Williams emerge over the course of
- 1:50:04Speaker 6: the season. So going in next year, you feel like
- 1:50:06Speaker 6: he's gonna have a bigger role.
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: Yeh chosen Pennsylvania. Hey Joe, Hey.
- 1:50:12Speaker 11: Guys, Hey, thanks for taking my call. Hey Joe, And uh,
- 1:50:15Speaker 11: first comment before my question, but like just about bot
- 1:50:19Speaker 11: like when he when he made that catch and he
- 1:50:22Speaker 11: extended out for that first down.
- 1:50:24Speaker 8: Yeah, what what a stud play.
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: It was a great play. Yep.
- 1:50:29Speaker 11: How often do we stay Why didn't he just reach out?
- 1:50:31Speaker 11: You know it's like grant you, you don't want to
- 1:50:33Speaker 11: reach out in traffic, but on those sideline catches like that,
- 1:50:36Speaker 11: I mean and uh, and like like right around that
- 1:50:41Speaker 11: four or five catch mark per game, I think that
- 1:50:43Speaker 11: is like a great, a great number for him, especially
- 1:50:46Speaker 11: when there's like twenty some completion.
- 1:50:48Speaker 2: Yep, he hasn't really been that though. He hasn't talked
- 1:50:53Speaker 2: five in a game since the first game, right, yeah, yeah.
- 1:50:57Speaker 11: I know he only had three, but I think right
- 1:50:58Speaker 11: around that, like, you know, I say that fortified mark
- 1:51:01Speaker 11: would be great for him, but.
- 1:51:02Speaker 1: I think Paul said it earlier.
- 1:51:04Speaker 4: It seems like every catch he does make is a
- 1:51:07Speaker 4: is a really meaningful catch.
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: Right, showing awareness good.
- 1:51:10Speaker 2: I mean, I mean he had those two catches that
- 1:51:12Speaker 2: were talking about, one he reaches out for a first
- 1:51:14Speaker 2: down and then the one on the sideline in the
- 1:51:16Speaker 2: game winning drive. I would just say, thanks, careful on
- 1:51:20Speaker 2: the one he reaches out on because you know, and
- 1:51:22Speaker 2: Evan might be able to speak to this better than me.
- 1:51:24Speaker 2: But Collinsworth mentioned at the time Mike and I immediately
- 1:51:27Speaker 2: thought it, did you run a bad route and be
- 1:51:30Speaker 2: sure to the sticks there? I think he's probably an
- 1:51:32Speaker 2: argument to be made on third you got to get
- 1:51:35Speaker 2: the sticks. And then I don't think coaches universally do
- 1:51:39Speaker 2: not like that reaching out thing like it worked, you know,
- 1:51:43Speaker 2: like Mike Vrabel was not happy with Hunter Henry two
- 1:51:46Speaker 2: weeks Ago on his touchdown down the sideline, that funky
- 1:51:51Speaker 2: throw from May. He kind of was very casually with
- 1:51:54Speaker 2: the ball down as he's going through the end zone.
- 1:51:57Speaker 2: You know, you don't know if there's someone there to
- 1:51:59Speaker 2: do all Dugger on that jack wagon from the Bengals
- 1:52:03Speaker 2: last year that was starting to celebrate as he's going in,
- 1:52:06Speaker 2: and you know, Kyle Dugger knocked the ball out. Ball
- 1:52:09Speaker 2: security is important and reaching out, I don't care if
- 1:52:13Speaker 2: you're on the sideline. You never saw a ball just
- 1:52:15Speaker 2: get knocked out of a guy's in Just sit there
- 1:52:17Speaker 2: on the sidelines like that's not They don't like that.
- 1:52:20Speaker 3: So every time I see that, I don't like it either.
- 1:52:24Speaker 3: I mean, it's worse like doing it to reach it
- 1:52:26Speaker 3: into the goal line in my opinion, because that then
- 1:52:28Speaker 3: you get the fumble touched back thing and like you
- 1:52:30Speaker 3: know last night, Trevor Lawrence trying to do the Drew
- 1:52:33Speaker 3: Brees sneak and egos.
- 1:52:34Speaker 2: But that's okay on fourth down because you lose the ball,
- 1:52:37Speaker 2: you lose the as long as it doesn't get touchdown
- 1:52:39Speaker 2: or something like that, that's not so okay. But yeah,
- 1:52:42Speaker 2: they've covered on the three yard line and was their
- 1:52:44Speaker 2: ball anyway.
- 1:52:45Speaker 3: Yeah, but it's happen again this week, the kid in
- 1:52:48Speaker 3: Arizona Mercado. It's like every I don't understand how these
- 1:52:52Speaker 3: guys still are fumbling the ball but like dropping the
- 1:52:55Speaker 3: ball celebrating before they get into the end zone. I
- 1:52:57Speaker 3: kind of the homes was like kind of close. Last
- 1:53:00Speaker 3: night he ran one in on like an option play.
- 1:53:02Speaker 3: I agree, and I looked at it and it was
- 1:53:05Speaker 3: pretty that was you know, he was maybe a step
- 1:53:07Speaker 3: or two into the end zone.
- 1:53:09Speaker 2: But can I just say something about the one for Arizona.
- 1:53:11Speaker 2: I don't know if you did. You guys see this
- 1:53:12Speaker 2: at all?
- 1:53:14Speaker 7: I saw the reaction do it.
- 1:53:16Speaker 2: I know that was not good. Yeah, I've seen it
- 1:53:21Speaker 2: a few times. I have not seen sort of the
- 1:53:23Speaker 2: pylon cam down the sideline. I got to tell you,
- 1:53:27Speaker 2: watching it over and over again, I'm not excusing it
- 1:53:29Speaker 2: because it just never will I will never understand why
- 1:53:32Speaker 2: that's cool. Why it's cool I scored a touchdown and
- 1:53:36Speaker 2: it's cool if I can drop the ball as I
- 1:53:39Speaker 2: go into the end zone. Like, I don't know why
- 1:53:41Speaker 2: that makes it any cool that you just ran seventy
- 1:53:43Speaker 2: one yards.
- 1:53:43Speaker 7: It is kind of sweat.
- 1:53:45Speaker 2: Why don't you just get in the end zone and
- 1:53:46Speaker 2: then do it right.
- 1:53:47Speaker 7: I told that Mahomes did and it looked cool.
- 1:53:50Speaker 2: So I've seen this play a number of times and
- 1:53:54Speaker 2: I'm not convinced that he didn't break the play in
- 1:53:56Speaker 2: the goal line before.
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: He dropped it. Close. Yeah, it was close.
- 1:53:59Speaker 2: I think that they're really being picky with them, like
- 1:54:01Speaker 2: to try to like prove a point, Like he reaches
- 1:54:04Speaker 2: out like this and for all the world, it looks
- 1:54:07Speaker 2: to me like that's breaking the plane of the goal line.
- 1:54:09Speaker 2: Then he lets it go. It looks like and I
- 1:54:10Speaker 2: think that they're deeming this as losing control of the ball,
- 1:54:13Speaker 2: and I don't think he lost control of the ball
- 1:54:15Speaker 2: until he actually crossed the goal line. Now, if someone
- 1:54:17Speaker 2: has a video that I haven't seen, then I'm wrong.
- 1:54:21Speaker 2: I just the ones that I have seen. It looks
- 1:54:25Speaker 2: to me like he broke the plane.
- 1:54:27Speaker 4: Eldred's in North Carolina. Hey, Aldred, Yeah he caused that
- 1:54:33Speaker 4: three car accident.
- 1:54:36Speaker 11: Well, I ain't nobody in front of me, okay, So yeah,
- 1:54:41Speaker 11: hey sir, take your victory lap. Oh buy me drink
- 1:54:47Speaker 11: at the bar, and they talking about your boy Drake,
- 1:54:50Speaker 11: So take your victory lab, buddy. He finally told me
- 1:54:53Speaker 11: over this time. You know, so I'm a Drake man,
- 1:54:57Speaker 11: a Drake may fan.
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: Shitt the ind.
- 1:55:01Speaker 2: We go.
- 1:55:02Speaker 4: We'll talk about him, even though North Carolina won't nice
- 1:55:05Speaker 4: nice Freddy.
- 1:55:08Speaker 11: About to blow up defut and AJ definitely won't.
- 1:55:12Speaker 2: Now do you think something happened to.
- 1:55:18Speaker 1: Him and Hurts got into it on the sideline? I
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: mean hot.
- 1:55:21Speaker 3: Navy yea, there is that teams.
- 1:55:27Speaker 2: Yeah, not all four ones are built the same.
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: Thanks, I mean they were.
- 1:55:31Speaker 3: They were up seventeen to three and coasting in that
- 1:55:33Speaker 3: game going into the fourth quarter and they blew it.
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, it's tough to stay up on top.
- 1:55:37Speaker 3: And their offense like completely just went in the tank.
- 1:55:40Speaker 3: Like they looked like, you know, they had the wheel
- 1:55:42Speaker 3: route to Barkley and all of a sudden they look
- 1:55:44Speaker 3: like they're the Eagles offense last year and they're not
- 1:55:47Speaker 3: running the ball as well as they were last year.
- 1:55:49Speaker 7: The offensive line is of good to see. Yeah, there's
- 1:55:52Speaker 7: still four and one.
- 1:55:54Speaker 2: Like, how about my Jaguars? These are like twenty eleven
- 1:55:57Speaker 2: Patriots problems that game last night.
- 1:55:59Speaker 3: With the Jaguars, Like Trevor Lawrence is a roller coaster,
- 1:56:03Speaker 3: like watching him play is honestly, and like, so they
- 1:56:07Speaker 3: have him running this like this can system right where
- 1:56:09Speaker 3: he's got the two plays called and he's got to
- 1:56:11Speaker 3: pick the right play, and every single time the two
- 1:56:14Speaker 3: seconds through one second, the play clock is winding down
- 1:56:18Speaker 3: and he's like yelling and barking and doing all. It's like,
- 1:56:20Speaker 3: maybe just don't do it like you ever, Like, is
- 1:56:22Speaker 3: it really that big of an advantage to change the play?
- 1:56:27Speaker 3: Is it really like is that really working that much
- 1:56:31Speaker 3: that every single time you snap the ball there's one
- 1:56:33Speaker 3: second left on the play clock?
- 1:56:35Speaker 2: Is it taking him a while the process which play
- 1:56:37Speaker 2: to call? Is that what it is?
- 1:56:39Speaker 3: Like? Well, yeah, and I you know, they're talking about
- 1:56:42Speaker 3: a little they're talking about it a little bit on
- 1:56:44Speaker 3: the broadcast, and like they were saying that like he's
- 1:56:46Speaker 3: got to get out of the huddle faster so that
- 1:56:48Speaker 3: he can get to the line of scrimmage and look
- 1:56:50Speaker 3: at the defense and then make the adjustment. I guess
- 1:56:53Speaker 3: like they have the numbers that like seventy five percent
- 1:56:56Speaker 3: of the time he switches the play at the line
- 1:56:58Speaker 3: of scrimmage.
- 1:56:59Speaker 2: So it's just.
- 1:57:00Speaker 3: Like and not it's called the second place and it's
- 1:57:03Speaker 3: not just like there's two under center plays and we're
- 1:57:05Speaker 3: just gonna run the second run plays of the first.
- 1:57:07Speaker 3: They're going from like shotgun to under center or under
- 1:57:10Speaker 3: center to shotguns, so like the whole formation is changing
- 1:57:14Speaker 3: and then they're getting they there's the lay games.
- 1:57:17Speaker 2: Like can system.
- 1:57:19Speaker 7: Well a lot, I.
- 1:57:20Speaker 3: Mean a lot of coaches run it like in that tree.
- 1:57:23Speaker 3: Uh you know, it's really like Brady used to do
- 1:57:25Speaker 3: it all the time, like the Patriots do it too.
- 1:57:27Speaker 7: It's not that hard, Like it's.
- 1:57:29Speaker 3: Just usually usually it's a it's a like it could
- 1:57:32Speaker 3: be anything. It could be two run plays to pass plays.
- 1:57:35Speaker 3: But it's just like, if we get this front, we're
- 1:57:37Speaker 3: gonna run this run play. If we get that front,
- 1:57:39Speaker 3: we're gonna run that run play. It's just it's not
- 1:57:41Speaker 3: that hard.
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: One more call Troy's in Virginia Beach. What's up, Troy?
- 1:57:46Speaker 2: Hey? It was doing on guys.
- 1:57:47Speaker 1: Hey now you talk?
- 1:57:53Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, we can hear you.
- 1:57:55Speaker 15: Okay, okay. I would like to take it back to
- 1:57:59Speaker 15: week three. I had an amazing time going up to
- 1:58:01Speaker 15: the boss and thanks for the sis of getting the train.
- 1:58:05Speaker 15: Had an amazing job.
- 1:58:06Speaker 1: That was my first time ever seeing a fox.
- 1:58:08Speaker 15: But very best. But I know the first few callers
- 1:58:13Speaker 15: or the two callers pretty much touched on it.
- 1:58:16Speaker 8: I was wondering, since we.
- 1:58:18Speaker 15: Have a dog in our camp, when was Kylee Walees
- 1:58:25Speaker 15: in a mix or you think.
- 1:58:27Speaker 8: He'll see a good idea to put him in the mix,
- 1:58:30Speaker 8: you know, just for just in case purposes and something.
- 1:58:33Speaker 15: Happened two days.
- 1:58:34Speaker 10: You don't want that to happen.
- 1:58:36Speaker 1: But yeah, well you mean in the mix of catching footballs.
- 1:58:40Speaker 1: Is that what you're talking about.
- 1:58:41Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I mean I think a lot of people
- 1:58:47Speaker 4: would like to see him get more involved, including him,
- 1:58:51Speaker 4: but right now it's just not you know, the ball's
- 1:58:55Speaker 4: not finding him yet.
- 1:58:57Speaker 1: I think his time will come.
- 1:59:00Speaker 4: But we talked about earlier Troy about getting him in
- 1:59:02Speaker 4: the mix on kickoffs kickoff return. Thanks and thanks for
- 1:59:06Speaker 4: the call, and you know, I could see that might
- 1:59:08Speaker 4: be something to get him in the game.
- 1:59:11Speaker 3: You know, I feel like it's sim and I want
- 1:59:13Speaker 3: to have woman to let but like with him and Henderson,
- 1:59:16Speaker 3: I just think people are being a little bit uh
- 1:59:19Speaker 3: not being patient enough exactly, Like it's this is the
- 1:59:22Speaker 3: fifth week of the season. Their rookies, like if you
- 1:59:26Speaker 3: just give it some time, like let let them develop.
- 1:59:29Speaker 1: I mean it's a new offense for everyone, not just I.
- 1:59:31Speaker 2: Would also say if the offense wasn't performing well, and
- 1:59:34Speaker 2: I think for the most part, say for the first
- 1:59:37Speaker 2: game of the year, the offense has been okay, like
- 1:59:40Speaker 2: what do you you know?
- 1:59:41Speaker 1: Right? But everybody's always green.
- 1:59:43Speaker 3: You always want to see the thing that it's a
- 1:59:45Speaker 3: shiny new toy and and I get it. But like
- 1:59:48Speaker 3: they're they're on these developmental plans, but he has to.
- 1:59:52Speaker 1: Be that you'd like to see maybe stretch the field
- 1:59:55Speaker 1: a little bit.
- 1:59:55Speaker 2: If they can rush the rookie, if they could, you know,
- 1:59:58Speaker 2: integrate him into the offense, that would be all right,
- 2:00:00Speaker 2: that would be cool.
- 2:00:01Speaker 1: We're going to integrate into saying goodbye. But we were back.
- 2:00:05Speaker 4: Tomorrow catch twenty two tomorrow at ten, Tomorrow at ten.
- 2:00:09Speaker 4: How's Barth doing? Is he okay? Like he's doing his
- 2:00:12Speaker 4: soilst pants during the game at any.
- 2:00:14Speaker 3: Point he's watching it at home. He doesn't travel, so
- 2:00:17Speaker 3: he's watching it at home.
- 2:00:18Speaker 1: Does his mother yell at him to keep it shot?
- 2:00:22Speaker 3: No, No, that wasn't a shot. I was just saying
- 2:00:24Speaker 3: I made me low and watching the game. He just
- 2:00:28Speaker 3: he said that this is the first time in a
- 2:00:31Speaker 3: while that his inner fan kind of came out a
- 2:00:33Speaker 3: little bit watching the Patriots, and I kind of felt
- 2:00:35Speaker 3: the same way.
- 2:00:36Speaker 7: I felt something about this team for the first time.
- 2:00:38Speaker 4: I think, if the Patriots get to the super Bowl
- 2:00:40Speaker 4: this year, we should all shape chip in and get
- 2:00:44Speaker 4: Barth a lady friend.
- 2:00:45Speaker 7: You know we're going to say to get to them.
- 2:00:49Speaker 7: We're got to get him there.
- 2:00:50Speaker 1: I'm sure that the station would send him down, right,
- 2:00:53Speaker 1: are you well? They would. They would have to. He's
- 2:00:56Speaker 1: their football guy, and he go to the super Bowl.
- 2:00:58Speaker 1: You don't send your.
- 2:00:59Speaker 3: Football I mean, Paul's shows go to the super Bowl.
- 2:01:01Speaker 3: So I'd assume that they could find it.
- 2:01:04Speaker 1: Yeah, we should. We should get up, We should get
- 2:01:06Speaker 1: up some company.
- 2:01:07Speaker 2: The morning show is not going. Friend's quitting, that's what
- 2:01:10Speaker 2: he said.
- 2:01:11Speaker 3: He can sleep on the floor in my hotel room.
- 2:01:12Speaker 7: We'll get my.
- 2:01:13Speaker 1: Cot there you go. Yeah all right, yeah, all right.
- 2:01:15Speaker 7: Use a different bathroom though.
- 2:01:16Speaker 1: We will see it tomorrow.
- 2:01:18Speaker 4: More more of this and turn the page.
