- 0:03This is a Bramble Jam podcast this week on your gabble gabble. If your
- 0:14cousin kicks you out of her apartment for calling DSS, do you have a
- 0:18right to your stuff back? Judge matthis is in the weeds and evicting folks.
- 0:22And if you jump off a boat but it moves and it throws you
- 0:26off and you hurt yourself, is it the boat driver's fop? Judge Gina
- 0:31tells us real people are your cases than just this is your gabble gable,
- 0:39it really is. You're really time at pretty well we do. It's where
- 0:46we're we We got a little uh, you got a little thing going.
- 0:48It's exactly right. Yeah, I didn't know what to do for mine and
- 0:51you started the show and I had not thought of all, so I just
- 0:54was said it. Judge matthis is in the weeds and evicting people, which
- 0:58neither of those things are true. He does was getting the weeds a little
- 1:00bit, but sure he doesn't ask that one personally. Well, tell me
- 1:03about it, Dan, I would love for you to tell me about it.
- 1:04Thank you so much. I'm wanna let Geno go last as he that's
- 1:08what he deserves. But Judge Mathis was here and he was doing it.
- 1:11When he's here, he's family. And what's weird about Judge Mathis on the
- 1:15YouTube is Judge Mathis. Whoever's running his YouTube account will post just now.
- 1:22We'll post just the cases. No commercials with YouTube ads to make money of
- 1:26course, and they'll post old ones on the regular, like this one was
- 1:29posted fourteen hours ago by Judge Mathis's YouTube channel, and it's like, how
- 1:34have we got taken this long for them to understand that's how you make money?
- 1:37Yeah, I don't know. I mean, good gracious, I mean
- 1:40Judge Gena only has six on his Facebook on his YouTube page. Six.
- 1:44That's it. We've covered all the official ones. Thiss one that someone just
- 1:48stopped. This was an official one from eight years ago that Mathis posted fourteen
- 1:52hours ago. It's nine minutes and thirty four seconds. Is beautiful. I
- 1:56love it. All in all done, tell me all about it. So
- 1:57let me tell you about Patricia Watts, not Patricia. It's p A.
- 2:01T R. E. Cia Patricia Patricia Watts. He's suing her cousin,
- 2:07Erica McCrae for three and fifty dollars of unreturned property I went to high school
- 2:14with the McCray. It's the same one I coached to McCrae, Ernest McCray,
- 2:17Ernest and Erica could be I don't know, you never know. I
- 2:21was Amber Finn and Ernest. If you're out there by McCray, Oh,
- 2:23I don't know, she could be involved, you never know. Are all
- 2:28related? We did it. We did that. We saw the family tree.
- 2:36Erica McCrae counter suing for a thousand dollars for defamation of character and lost
- 2:40wages. Oh, yes, those are the things. So we start,
- 2:45well, now we start with Patricia and she says, listen, Erica is
- 2:50my cousin. We have a lot of history. Some of it's good,
- 2:53some of it's bad. She's somewhat of a con artist, okay someone yeah,
- 2:59I mean, and she's sitting on the day. She's a very very
- 3:01manipulative and she can be very very petty. And Mathis is like, what
- 3:06do you mean, and she says, she tried to con my mom out
- 3:08of a ten dollars pair of shoes. Now we don't get any more information
- 3:13about about this particular sting operation where Erica's conning. You know, Patrecia's mom
- 3:22out of a ten dollars pair of shoes. We just had to take it
- 3:23at face value. And then she said, now, Erica is a hairdresser,
- 3:27and she said I went over to help Erica her at her salon and
- 3:31said the girl, there's a girl that wanted a style under her hair.
- 3:37And Erica lied to her and said she knew how to do it. And
- 3:39then Erica immediately walked out of the room and went to YouTube to google how
- 3:44to do the hairstyle. Yeah, so everybody's laughing in the courtroom, and
- 3:49she says, I walked back there, and I walked back in and convinced
- 3:52this girl she wanted a different hairstyle that Erica did know how to do,
- 3:55and I saved her. It took nine hours to do this hairstyle. It
- 3:59took us too, two days. Erica paid me five dollars. That's all
- 4:02she paid me for this. Why it all? Erica is being quiet At
- 4:06this point, Mathis goes, how much did she get? Maybe she didn't
- 4:10get but ten. You know, classic mathis just a little early stuff to
- 4:15get the crowd warmed up. You know how he got oh, I know,
- 4:17he warms up pretty quickly. Crowd's laughing, and then Erica goes,
- 4:21I actually got thirty, but she owed me twenty. That's what she says.
- 4:26She owed me twenty, so I kept the twenty, which still doesn't
- 4:28work for it, because technically, if she only got thirty, then Patricia
- 4:32she get fifteen. If she owed her twenty, Patricia still ows her five.
- 4:35She shouldn't get anything that's neither here nor there. We're not going to
- 4:38get into math details. Mathis says, ma'am, what do you have to
- 4:42say about all these connish ways? And then Erica says, first of all,
- 4:46she's lying. Second of all, Patricia is so insecure about herself.
- 4:50And I want to let your audience know to hold your husbands by your sides
- 4:56because she'll come and take them. Okay, want to let your audience know,
- 5:00Judge matthis, if you have anyone in the crowd that is married,
- 5:04and they're both here and one of them is a husband, hold them close
- 5:09to their close because she will come and take That's right. And then she
- 5:12said, and she's liable to come in your purse and steal a piece of
- 5:15candy. And now I don't understand this line, and I rewound it at
- 5:18this point. Wait, she's just going into people's purses and taking their candy,
- 5:23That's what she says. But why she says that. Now, if
- 5:27you I rewounded to make sure I got it right, you'll be the judge.
- 5:30She's liable to come in and steal your purse and steal a piece of
- 5:34candy, because if she ain't eating, she's keeping up confusion. Yeah,
- 5:42no, I know she got it. You got it. Yes, So
- 5:44if she ain't eating, she's keeping up confusion, you know what I mean?
- 5:46She so she is, she likes to spread some stuff. She likes
- 5:53to she's she sews confusion if you will. But if if she if she's
- 5:57eating, she can't sold, you let her steal them in you would let
- 6:00her, yay. So the problem is not that she's stealing them. There's
- 6:04not enough men, it's out. And at this point Mathis is the crowd's
- 6:09laughing, and matthis is like, I gotta get in on this, and
- 6:13so he's like, so she's a triple threat. Huh candy, purse and
- 6:15your husband. Crowd loves that. Long in the matthis Chambers and then we
- 6:20go back to Patrice steal to Persa. She just steals the key. Yeah,
- 6:24I know and we not. Once again, Mathis it's an oversight for
- 6:27a joke, and he he commits to the bit. We can break it
- 6:30down later. Patricia said, yeah, that's right. Mathis is like,
- 6:34all right, Patricia said, tell me what happened, and so we've not
- 6:36actually gotten to the case. Shit, tell me what happened, Paterca says,
- 6:40okay. In July, I moved in. Erica let me move in
- 6:44with my three year old daughter, and I moved in with her, and
- 6:46that was very nice of her. In January of the following year, I
- 6:49went downstairs to our neighbor's house to use her phone. I don't know why
- 6:55she went down to use her phone. Apparently she didn't have one, I
- 6:58don't know. It was her neighbor's small While I'm on my neighbor's smartphone,
- 7:02I saw a text message saying that her and her boyfriend were planning to steal
- 7:06my vehicle. Now, so, just to paint the picture, Erica goes
- 7:12downstairs, neighbor, let me use your cell phone. While she's on the
- 7:15phone, she's looking through her text messages with her neighbor and her neighbor's boyfriend,
- 7:19and they are conspiring on this text thread to steal Erica's vehicle. So
- 7:27she doesn't provide any proof of that, but she says that happens, and
- 7:31she said, I was really angry, but I didn't react right away.
- 7:33I left. I took a few days, and I went and talked to
- 7:36my pastor. Now at this point, the crowd is gu falling now really
- 7:42quick? Did she think that she was planning to steal the Why was she
- 7:46looking through her text messages? I don't know. Everyone's fine with this,
- 7:49yes, okay, yeah, well we'll get there in a second. So
- 7:54she said, I got to go talk to my pastor, you know,
- 7:56to calm down so I wouldn't go off the handle on her. People in
- 8:00the back are laughing hysterically. She had to go to her pastor. It
- 8:03was great. So she goes, that was Thursday. I went to my
- 8:05pastor on Sunday. Sunday. When I got home, Erica and I together
- 8:09asked the neighbor to come up, and we confronted the neighbor and she did
- 8:13not deny that that's what was happening. And I have a video to show
- 8:16you, And this video is Erica or Patricia just screaming at this incredibly tiny
- 8:24woman, and every word is bleeped out. I cannot understand. I can't
- 8:28make her heads or tails of anything being said because eighty percent of it is
- 8:33beep. This is post pastor, matthis is with you. Mathus jumps in
- 8:39and says, your preacher tell you to say all it's a big laugh.
- 8:43That's good stuff. Patreesa's like, look, I didn't touch her. I
- 8:46didn't touch her. I went to the pastor. I didn't touch her.
- 8:50I thought I deserve some credit for that. And that girl is literally a
- 8:52size zero. I could really hurt her. Yeah, that's yeah. So
- 8:56Patricia says, to make sure that this woman doesn't steal her car, she
- 9:05calls DSFS, which I assume is DSS but in a different state. That's
- 9:11the only thing I can assume DSFS on the neighbor because she didn't take care
- 9:15of her kids. They sleep on the floor, they sleep in car seats,
- 9:18So I called on her. Now I don't know if that's true or
- 9:22not, but she says she called her to make sure that they took her
- 9:24kids. So she's like, you're gonna steal my car? DSFS is taking
- 9:28your kids? Yeah, it's getting a little off the rail. So Erica,
- 9:33where does Erica come in, because Patrecia is just living there. Erica
- 9:37gets really mad that she calls DSFS. Why does Erica get mad that she
- 9:41called DSFS because both Patricia and Erica smothe, smoke, weed, and drink
- 9:46in the home with their children in the home. Okay, so Erica is
- 9:52like, why'd you do that? They can come and take our kids as
- 9:54well. What are you doing? You're endangering our kids by calling DSFS,
- 10:00and I, Pateresa says, I explained to Erica, they're not coming to
- 10:03take our kids. We not ratchet. Yeah, we smoke and drink,
- 10:09but we don't do it in front of our kids. Our kids eat every
- 10:11meal, they sleep in a bed, they live their best life. We
- 10:15do that on our own time, never in front of our kids. We
- 10:16don't have anything to worry about. Absolutely, this is what this is not
- 10:20what the neighbor is doing. We take care of our kids. We don't
- 10:24have anything to worry about. But Erica was still mad. She told me
- 10:26she didn't want me. She want that heat in her house. That's what
- 10:30she didn't want that heat at her house. And so I'm not on the
- 10:31lease, so I had to leave. I left. I pat one bat
- 10:35tree in my baby. Patricia left, I went to my grandma's house.
- 10:39So after I did that, I called her numerous times to get the rest
- 10:43of my stuff. I like thirty five hundred dollars worth of things. I
- 10:46got pictures of all the things. Erica keeps telling me she doesn't want me
- 10:50at the house. I keep trying. I tried in January, February March,
- 10:54two and a half months. She's dodging me. In March, I
- 10:56go over to the house from I still have my key. Life have been
- 11:00changed. I can't get in. I talked to a neighbor, a different
- 11:03neighbor, I'm sure, and the neighbor says that Erica doesn't live there anymore.
- 11:07Still, to this day, I don't know where Erica lives. I
- 11:11can't get my stuff back. I have pictures of everything. Mathis is looking
- 11:15at the pictures. How they get her in court, it's a great well,
- 11:18I don't know how they got her in court. That's a great question.
- 11:20Well, Eric, She goes, all right, Uh, Erica,
- 11:24what do you got to say for all this? She says, First of
- 11:26all, she's lying. I have a text message from August she left in
- 11:30January. I have a text message from August that says she's forgotten her stuff.
- 11:35It's seven months later. I moved, there was nowhere I could put
- 11:39the stuff. There's nothing I can do about that. Mathis says, let
- 11:43me see that text that means I've forgotten my stuff. Mathis says, let
- 11:46me see that text message. So he sees that it's dated in August,
- 11:50and then he does a dramatic reading of the text message in a voice.
- 11:54He does a bit oh my. He says this, Oh my god,
- 11:58cousin I have. I'm I'm sorry. I haven't come and got my things
- 12:01yet. That's what the text says. I see, Oh my god,
- 12:03cousin, I'm sorry. She looks at He looks at Patresian goes, you're
- 12:09seven months out and you're apologizing to her that you haven't come and gotten your
- 12:16things yet. Makes it seem as if Eric at some point was like,
- 12:18hey, cut right your stock. We don't see any other text message.
- 12:20So then he says, Erica, what's this countersuit about. She says,
- 12:24she's defaming my name and slamming my name and calling me all kinds of things.
- 12:28Okay, well, what is she calling you? Well, she's calling
- 12:31me like a bomb and stuff, saying I don't do good hair. Mathis
- 12:35is like, okay, and then that's the end of that conversation. He
- 12:39goes, what about this loss of wages? She goes, I'm suing for
- 12:41the two days that I had to take off to come to this court appearance.
- 12:45No, it's fair yesterday and the day, and I make one hundred
- 12:48and seventy five dollars a day, so that's three hundred and fifty dollars.
- 12:50That's what it is. H Mathus is ready to rule. Boy, I
- 12:56don't think uh, I mean, I think the only person might get money
- 13:01is Erica the loss of wages maybe maybe yeah, but I'm gonna go both
- 13:07of them don't get anything. Mathis gives her the loss of ways. Yeah.
- 13:09He looks at Patricia and he goes, yeah, you said she is
- 13:13the con artist. You're the con artist. You haven't known what you need
- 13:16to do. He looks at her and he says, defamation of character,
- 13:18that's just gossip. You don't even have any proof of it. This,
- 13:20but wages, absolutely, you had to come and do this for two days,
- 13:24absolutely, three hundred and fifty in your favor. Then Afterwards, they
- 13:26keep the camera rolling and the two are still there and Erica everything's quiet.
- 13:31It looked. She thinks the camera's off and she goes, I told you,
- 13:35I told you I was gonna get you back. And then she says,
- 13:37you can't out slick the slickster. She said, you can't out slip.
- 13:46I'm a snowman. Yeah right, Wow, you can't out slick the
- 13:50slickster. My mama taught me real well, you can't do a person like
- 13:54that when you wrong. That was it. That's the case. Can't out
- 13:58slick. You can't slick the slick And that's true. I love it.
- 14:01I saw I was right. I mean I said none, but I said
- 14:03if anything, So that goes to show you always ask for lost wages.
- 14:09You never know, you never know, you never know. How bath is
- 14:13this feeling? Well, what's great is when she said one seventy five a
- 14:16day he goes hair dresser. That sounds right. I'll give it to you.
- 14:18He didn't ask for any like w two Lord, unbelievable personal injury court
- 14:24time, Judge Gino, you know him, the legal sauce. I want
- 14:28to introduce you to a plaintiff. His name is Orlando. Well, last
- 14:31name, first day, Mark, Mark Orlando. Uh, he's suing miss
- 14:37Martin. What's her name? Nancy Martin for seventy five thousand for past medical
- 14:43expensive, twenty thousand for future medical expensive, three hundred thousand and four paint
- 14:48and suffering three ninety five total. A low day of the personal injury court
- 14:54work. And he's suing because he got hurt some injury court situation. So
- 15:01Mark Orlando, really he did. So Mark Orlando is in the courtroom with
- 15:05his wife Nicole. Every year they go on a big trip with their best
- 15:11friends from college. They have some really good friends that they met in college.
- 15:15Every year they go on this trip. They love it. It's a
- 15:16lot of fun. This year, they're looking to find a boat to go
- 15:20out on to go fishing. You know, fishing, Dad, Oh,
- 15:24no, one knows fishing more than you. And so they find Nancy Martin.
- 15:30Nancy Martin has a boat. She takes people out. That's her deal.
- 15:33Now. Nancy was in the Navy for twenty two years. Thank you
- 15:37for your service. And she learned everything she knows about boats in the Navy.
- 15:41But she learned everything she knows about fishing from her paw so after retiring,
- 15:46she knew she wanted to combine those two loves and open a charter fisher
- 15:52fishing company basically, so she takes people out to go fishing. Now,
- 15:56Orlando says, you know, it was a great so far, and I
- 16:00was feeling pretty good towards the end of the day. I just caught a
- 16:03big fish. I'm loving life. It's wonderful. And they get close to
- 16:10the dock and he says that Nancy said welcome home, which he took as
- 16:17time to get off the boat. She said welcome home. She said welcome
- 16:19home. Now he took time to get off. Now, he did find
- 16:26a little bit odd. There was an eighteen inch gap in between the boat
- 16:30and the dock. But he said, I can clear it. It's odd
- 16:33that she would say welcome home. It is odd that she would and a
- 16:37half he should be able to clear it, and he would have cleared it
- 16:41except for the fact that right as he was jumping, Nancy slammed it into
- 16:45reverse and causing him to lose his footing and jump and land tummy first on
- 16:55the pylon. The sideboy there he slid down in the water, has to
- 17:02get out on his own on his own way. But it was a scary
- 17:04situation. Nicole says, I thought he was dying. So Nancy says,
- 17:11I I heard someone say man overboard. I stopped a boat. I run
- 17:18down, I see what's going on. My first mate takes over the boat.
- 17:21I was very concerned at the moment, And Nicole says, you weren't
- 17:23even remotely concerned. You took your time. So there he goes, and
- 17:30she's like, I had to watch my husband struggle for his life. I
- 17:33couldn't help him. I felt so so helpless, blah blah blah. So
- 17:37Nancy's like, oh please, I watched him climb out the doc just fine,
- 17:41he said, I'm fine. It was nothing to worry about. So
- 17:47Nancy says, listen, when any whenever anybody gets on my boat, I
- 17:52send him down and I go through the rules. I have a few rules,
- 17:55like, you know, don't drink, stay seed while the boat's moving,
- 17:57don't stand up until I hide the rope on the dock. These are
- 18:00the rules that I go through. It say that. Orlando says, I
- 18:03don't remember hearing any of them. My gosh, Gino says, do you
- 18:08have common sense to not stand up when the boat's moving and he's like,
- 18:12of course I do. But she said, well, come welcome home.
- 18:15I don't know what else we need. That's it, that's proving up.
- 18:18Nancy says that he didn't follow the rules. We didn't say that we are
- 18:25docked. We didn't sign the thing, we didn't do the rope, so
- 18:29he should have known not to get up. They also signed a waiver saying
- 18:33that they would obey the rules. Orlando says, I didn't sign the waiver.
- 18:37We see his signature, he says, he says, he says,
- 18:42not my signature. My wife signed for me. Oh my gosh, Oh
- 18:49my gosh. Zero dollars dollars. Nichole says that the he made it to
- 19:00where like. Nicole says that the injury made it to where we like,
- 19:03he couldn't provide for the family. He's really struggling. We find out he
- 19:10has had a few broken ribs, collapsed lung, very various cuts, et
- 19:15cetera. They bring in a doctor who basically says, yes, that's bad.
- 19:19Orlando says that Nancy was reckless while driving the boat. Now here's where
- 19:25things get interesting. I can't imagine. They bring in some evidence that shows
- 19:30that Nancy has a pass of reckless driving. We bring in a couple of
- 19:37tickets that shows her speeding and a ticket for reckless driving of the boat.
- 19:41Both of those are boat related tickets. Okay, Nancy says, in both
- 19:47of those instances, I was not on the clock. It was a family
- 19:51outing. Okay, both of those, I was not on the clock.
- 19:53I have no no tickets, no nothing while I'm actually doing my job.
- 20:00Okay. Uh. And just Gina's ready ready to zero dollars none, no
- 20:06dollars. She they signed a waiver, she went over the rules. Well,
- 20:10he didn't sign it. He his wife signed it for him. He
- 20:14signed it, signed a waiver, went over the rules. Don't stand up
- 20:18until the boat's dark. Are you kidding me? Right now? If Gino
- 20:21gives him a don a dime, Brandon, I'm done with Gino forever.
- 20:25Wod you heard me? Well, guess what you can? You can stay
- 20:30attached to dtail. Gino gives them zerology says, you cause your own injuries.
- 20:34Your wife's signing for you is just as good leg as you signing for
- 20:37yourself. The legal sauce does not help you in this case. Best of
- 20:42luck to you. Get out of here, Get out of here is right,
- 20:47Orlando. We did it, everybody, We did it. Thank you
- 20:52so much for listening. Thank you so much for your continued support. And
- 20:56Dan, I want you to know I never see you. What I would
- 21:02never see thank you. I'd never see you either. You know what else?
