- 0:12Christian read podcast is here to stay.
- 0:15I love doing this and I love all of you that support me.
- 0:19So thank you. And yeah let's get into this
- 0:22podcast, shall we? Boom.
- 0:25Hello and welcome to another episode of the Christian re
- 0:28podcast. Today's guest is A podcaster
- 0:31YouTuber. Twitch streamer video editor and
- 0:34redditor all the way from South Africa.
- 0:36He goes by the pseudonym the noob 950 otherwise known as
- 0:41Brendan Peterson. Welcome to the show, how are you
- 0:43doing? I'm doing really well.
- 0:45Thanks for having me. It's nice, a pleasure, always a
- 0:48pleasure to have a fellow podcaster on as much.
- 0:50We can talk about with that and that's what we're going to do.
- 0:53Yes, jump straight into that. You are a co-host of the total
- 0:56chaos podcast, Great Name. What's the Just about and why
- 1:01did you decide to start it? I can tell you that our origin
- 1:05story. Basically, I'm me and two of my
- 1:08friends that I made very early on, in my first year of
- 1:10University, we would have these discussions.
- 1:13That would make us crack up a lot.
- 1:16Like it just and I we always made a joke.
- 1:18A, we should record ourselves and post this online because it
- 1:22has high a lot of entertainment value.
- 1:25And one day, I just went and sat down like, Hey how do you start
- 1:28a podcast? What does it cost and stuff?
- 1:30And I've been wanting to buy some upgrades to my computer,
- 1:34including a better microphone because my headset microphone
- 1:37sounds kind of trash. I thought.
- 1:38Okay, let's kill two birds with one stone.
- 1:40I pitched the idea to them and we kind of just settled on that
- 1:45name out of, I can't remember which one of the three of us
- 1:48recommended it, but at the moment one of us said it, we
- 1:50knew yeah, that's the name because it it just fit with our
- 1:53brand and that's that's how we started.
- 1:56And the first few episodes were absolute garbage.
- 2:00Image. Like I'll be the first to admit
- 2:02that but I'm eventually we, you know, fell into a group.
- 2:05We got used to it especially when we stopped recording
- 2:07recording in the same room. Hmm.
- 2:10Well, because I'm with a coronavirus, we like to spread
- 2:12out and I think that helps give a helps help, the vibe a little
- 2:18bit, you know, that we don't because if we said, we were all
- 2:20sitting on the same couch, originally in my apartment, you
- 2:23know, looking at my computer and we couldn't face each other when
- 2:27were talking each other because then we wouldn't be talking to
- 2:29them. When so I think that kind of
- 2:31hinted us a little bit. But, you know, after like
- 2:33episode 10, we really picked up shoot one guy in two days.
- 2:37It's our one year, we hit the one year mark of a podcast.
- 2:42Congratulations. And that's a very interesting
- 2:44point that you make because most people would say the complete
- 2:47opposite and would say that it's actually more restricting to
- 2:49have like a zoom podcast or something like that.
- 2:52That me personally obviously one day I want to have my own studio
- 2:56and the works and what not but I'm very happy operating the
- 2:59podcast in the Way that I am right now.
- 3:02But yeah no, I mean that that totally makes sense I guess for
- 3:05you guys future, considerations is to get like just a Roundtable
- 3:09something so you can physically be in the room together and see
- 3:12each other and face. The microphone that's like the
- 3:15ideal scenario, right? You know, eventually I got I
- 3:19don't know because we have plans to possibly because of thing.
- 3:23We're friends. All starting in the same field
- 3:25so we're most likely going to get the job in the same.
- 3:30Same field, may be even in the same place.
- 3:31We all have plans to move to a cotton different country
- 3:34together, because South Africa's sucks, you know, and just for
- 3:37like ever first year or two because it will be no Strangers
- 3:41In a Strange Land, you have four year to, you know, live
- 3:43together, help cover rent and I mean we'll still maybe do the
- 3:47podcast and depending on how life turns out but I still think
- 3:50we'll just record from each individual rooms.
- 3:54It's, you know, it's I've never really understand that.
- 3:57Some people want that, but I've never really been one for you.
- 3:59Gino intricate set up with like the studio and the lighting and
- 4:02everything. The entire, I mean, look at the
- 4:04name, has the word chaos, anything it's just Chill Vibes
- 4:08and it just you know sitting talking about what I never
- 4:11explained what it was about but just the three of us get
- 4:14together once a week. Sometimes we have a guest over
- 4:16and we just talk about whatever happened the week, whatever
- 4:19stories we have to tell whatever whatever we want to talk about,
- 4:22mostly geared towards common. But we do touch on some serious
- 4:25things here and there. And what would you say?
- 4:28Sort of like the favorite topics to talk about or the favorite
- 4:31things that used to discussed so far, it's going to reflect badly
- 4:36on us. But porn comes on a comes up a
- 4:38lot but that's not, that's not on purpose, but it's not on
- 4:42purpose. It, I swear it's always flows
- 4:45naturally and just somehow gets the, I mean, one of my favorite
- 4:48episode titles and we always try to how we title out episodes.
- 4:53We just take like The different things that we talked about and
- 4:55just grab a little bit from each thing to add one of my favorite
- 4:58titles is the Disney porn conspiracy.
- 5:01Now, it isn't strictly about pornography conspiracy within
- 5:06Disney. It's just, we talked about
- 5:08Disney, we talked about conspiracies, and we talked
- 5:10about pornography, and that's way it came from all three have
- 5:14Wikipedia is gay hentai. I think is one of them, what I
- 5:19got? Oh my God, I can't remember the
- 5:21exact title, but yeah. Just the things that were strong
- 5:26together that, I mean, we never lie in our titles, it's always
- 5:31there will always be some relevant to, what is there.
- 5:34But yeah, that's we usually just to talk about whatever comes up,
- 5:38you know, it specially, if they happen, if something big
- 5:41happened in the week, then we, you know, we'll discuss it.
- 5:44Like, when the Reddit decided to just crash the stock market,
- 5:48that was something. We had some fun with you, got
- 5:51booked me for your show because I just want to sit there.
- 5:53And talk shit with you guys. This sounds like a lot of fun.
- 5:58You're more than welcome to come on, Todd.
- 6:00I'm totally forgotten. I'm already booked on your show,
- 6:02I do apologize. Do what?
- 6:06On the topic of podcast, this is what happens.
- 6:08Like I shit you. Not like I am the one of the
- 6:11most prepared people ever have all my notes here.
- 6:14I've got a fucking like a calendar that I write like a
- 6:16physical calendar that I write in all my guests in place on the
- 6:19phone plus everything else. But like with that Everything
- 6:24that is concerned with the podcast and then YouTube and
- 6:26then everything else that I'm doing it.
- 6:28Just it's too much to keep up with sometimes and I make these
- 6:32mistakes and I feel bad but I'm like I don't try to keep up with
- 6:39it. Like I'll be honest with you if
- 6:42it weren't for well, I set an alarm on my phone so we have
- 6:45remembered but until you message me I was completely unlike
- 6:48ability. Forgot.
- 6:48That was supposed to do a podcast today like when you base
- 6:51it around was like three thirds of the way through.
- 6:53Watching the new episode of 1 Division.
- 6:56And who is the episode 6 dropped?
- 6:58Yeah, it's exciting. It's a good episode and don't
- 7:03tell me anything, do it? That no spoilers not telling
- 7:05anything. It's a good.
- 7:07It's a good episode. Every episode has been, I think
- 7:10they do the way they've done. That series is genius and and
- 7:13the way they built up to it like the first three episodes, just
- 7:16being kind of asset gone and then getting deeper into it with
- 7:19more intricate stuff. Well, I love it, it's like two
- 7:22different things going on at once you The actual story and
- 7:25then you've got this kind of like, I don't know, I guess you
- 7:29can call it like a parody style thing where they're kind of like
- 7:32trying to do different sitcoms from different decades and all
- 7:36that. And I just think that's really
- 7:38cool and for like younger Generations, who might not
- 7:41appreciate like why that's interesting or cool, it's pretty
- 7:44cool and it reintroduce has it like I remember growing up as a
- 7:48kid in the 90s and 2000's, you would actually see reruns of
- 7:51stuff from like the 60s and it seemed like A different world or
- 7:55more. And it was, it is a different
- 7:57world. But it's, it's a pretty cool
- 7:59sort of Time Capsule that you can forever, you know, peer into
- 8:04a different age and understand like, how things were how people
- 8:07were, how Society was? That's pretty cool.
- 8:10I have a younger brother, and he's 13 in like two months and
- 8:16he won it once asked me. Hey, I'm like, he didn't get
- 8:20that black and white was just once how Movies and television
- 8:24watching thought it was always just stylistic, you know, he
- 8:27didn't get that back a few a while back that dress is that
- 8:31was just how it was, you know, you didn't get like, full-color
- 8:34was insane when it first happened.
- 8:37Yeah, it is a pretty mind-blowing thing because like
- 8:42And let it kind of distorts our idea of the past as well.
- 8:45Like for instance I've seen a lot of photos that have been
- 8:49edited recently. What you know why it's that
- 8:50colorization? Where you take a photo from like
- 8:53the 1800s or something? You colorize it and it looks
- 8:57amazing. Looks like it could have been
- 8:58taken yesterday and it kind of messes with our head because
- 9:02when you see a photo like that, it's like, oh, this is from a
- 9:05different time. So many years ago, it's like you
- 9:07can't relate to it almost. It's, there's like a kind of a
- 9:09barrier between this time right now.
- 9:12Now and that time back then but then when they do these things
- 9:16like they edit it with today's technology or colorizer or
- 9:19whatever it kind of put them language like fucks with your
- 9:22head a little bit because it's like hang on.
- 9:24So this this is almost like like it was taken today.
- 9:29Like it was made today but it can't because I know that this
- 9:31is the past how is this possible?
- 9:34And it's like I saw a video on this.
- 9:36Actually there's a guy on YouTube called Vsauce.
- 9:40Who is Anna my lovely sauce, right?
- 9:41Yeah, I Discovered in recently because I remember seeing him in
- 9:45like memes or something. And then I finally watch this
- 9:47content, I was like, oh my God, I love this guy.
- 9:50Totally up my street. I highly recommend you guys go
- 9:53check them out if you haven't heard of him.
- 9:54But, yeah, he talks about these sorts of topics at length.
- 9:57He discussed this topic and I was like, yeah, that's so true.
- 10:00Like, I don't understand that. Like how it messes with your
- 10:03head so much. And now the understanding of
- 10:05time people seem to think of history as very disjointed like
- 10:09something that I like bring up is Martin.
- 10:12King and Anne. Frank were born in the same
- 10:14year, like just just for that. It like people see.
- 10:18And the Great Pyramids of Giza and woolly mammoths coexisted.
- 10:22For a good amount of time Cleopatra is closer to today
- 10:26than she is to the construction of the pyramids.
- 10:30Like, I think it was clear but I'm pretty sure it was
- 10:32Cleopatra. Might be getting my furrows
- 10:33mixed up, but people seem to think of history as such a mixed
- 10:37bag. I mean, yeah, almost everything.
- 10:39I'm now, if you originally religious or Not everything that
- 10:44happened or allegedly happened in the New Testament.
- 10:46In the entirety of the Bible, is no more than six thousand years
- 10:49ago. According a court, if you trace
- 10:52it back like, but more than 6,000 years ago, people seem to
- 10:55think faster is such a disjoint thing.
- 10:57Like, World War Two happened. Then segregation happened.
- 11:01They know, it's all kind of Just Happening together in a mixed
- 11:04bundle, but even just our feelings about time, like, for
- 11:08me. Okay, I'm a 27 year old man.
- 11:10I turned 28 this year in Met right?
- 11:13And so I was born in 1993 and for me you know, I know it's
- 11:19that kind of joke of like you get to a certain age in like oh
- 11:21that feels like it was five minutes ago but for real like
- 11:26the 90s feels like like it wasn't that long ago for me.
- 11:32Like I feel like because we're in 2021 but like the the
- 11:35mid-2000s feels like oh, that was five or ten years ago it was
- 11:39actually like Twenty years ago, you look like early 2000s and
- 11:43stuff, it's just like what? What's it, son?
- 11:50I am now the exact same distance, like I remember the
- 11:53last 10 years of my life. I'm I'm I turned 21 this year, I
- 11:57remember the, I remove the last 10 years of my life and it blows
- 12:01my mind that I'm closer to being 30 than I am to being 10.
- 12:04I don't enjoy that realization all too much I guess.
- 12:08And another thing is kids these days and I hate saying that
- 12:11because it makes me feel old, but they don't.
- 12:14It's just how differently they grew up.
- 12:16When I was young, it was you know, SpongeBob Tom and Jerry
- 12:19and you know, stuff like that. And you went outside to have
- 12:22fun. And, you know, I do in South
- 12:24Africa, is like a few years behind the technological curve.
- 12:27At least it was back then. So, we were just remember, I got
- 12:30the Playstation 2 slim on in 2006 or 2007, that was my first
- 12:35video game console. And that blew my mind, like that
- 12:39was insane. And now kids just have
- 12:42Fortnight. They and they just take these,
- 12:44they have phones. They take it for granted.
- 12:46Granted. I remember my first phone.
- 12:48It was one of those old Nokia phones with the green and black
- 12:51screens. Yeah, I did that phone had two
- 12:54purposes called my mom play snake.
- 12:56That was it, that was what that phone was built for and it, I'm
- 13:00pretty sure if I could find that for, I think it was lost Through
- 13:03the Ages now. But if I could find out, then
- 13:05I'm pretty sure it would still work, dude, because things were
- 13:08built to last. It was the same.
- 13:09Yeah, for me, I was 10 years old, this would have been Early
- 13:202000s. Very, very early 2000s and yeah,
- 13:24first phone, Nokia 3410. And like you said, like, it was
- 13:29a really funny experience because I think I've got it at
- 13:31like Christmas or something, and I was so excited.
- 13:34As I do my God, a phone, I have my own phone and I was like,
- 13:37going through it and, you know, obviously like there's all the
- 13:40numbers in there and then there's the state game but then
- 13:43the sudden realization that hold on.
- 13:46This is all I can do with it. I can call my mum and my nan or
- 13:52I can play Snake and that's all my phone is and then the novelty
- 13:57sort of wore off within like a couple of days and I was like
- 13:59okay this is just a thing. Now which sounds really harsh
- 14:03but you have to understand that like phones back then would just
- 14:06not what they are. Not like I would say that phones
- 14:09didn't become sort of inch properly interesting.
- 14:15Until probably the first iPhone came out to be honest because
- 14:19before that like flip phones stuff like that.
- 14:23Like people look back and it's like oh that's novelty is that I
- 14:25know I think the biggest thing that you could really do before
- 14:28prior to to smartphones was like playing music on your phone.
- 14:32That was kind of the biggest thing because we had to carry
- 14:34around. Like, you know, I went for
- 14:35everything like Walkman CD players, MP3 players, eventually
- 14:39like iPod, Nano iPod Classic, all of that stuff, and then
- 14:44eventually Yeah, being able to get songs on the phone and back,
- 14:48then, you know, you could barely fit anything on there.
- 14:51You'd be lucky to fit like 10 or 15 songs on your phone.
- 14:54And then obviously the Advent of smartphones came and you know
- 14:59they got better and better and now you know, you don't even
- 15:02have to store stuff on there, you can just use your mobile
- 15:05data. Listen to endless songs on
- 15:07Spotify apple, apple music, whatever and the game is totally
- 15:12changed and bring it back. What you said before about, you
- 15:16know, kids taking taking it for granted.
- 15:19Like I don't really know how else you could take it, because
- 15:22you always kind of deal with the stuff that's given to you.
- 15:26Do you know what I mean? So like I know that you and
- 15:28myself can look back and remember like all this is what
- 15:31the the world was like sort of before the internet, really took
- 15:35a hold of things and before, you know, smartphones before this
- 15:38before that and it's a pretty amazing Outlook to have because
- 15:42I would consider myself as someone who is in pain.
- 15:45With tin it almost in Two Worlds, I remember life before
- 15:49then and I also remember growing up with this stuff like it was
- 15:52pretty exciting being a teenager and having this you know stuff
- 15:56coming out year on year and things getting better and
- 15:59better. Like I remember that satisfying
- 16:01feeling of not having to carry around a phone and an iPod
- 16:06anymore and I could just put everything on my phone.
- 16:09Like that was actually relief for me because it was less stuff
- 16:13to potentially get robbed and Also ease of use.
- 16:17Like it was just better, you know, I think the next big thing
- 16:22is probably going to be virtual reality and I remember, I
- 16:25remember the first with the first Oculus Rift development
- 16:28kits, like the very first VR headset.
- 16:30Probably I it's it's went out, they were so clunky, and there
- 16:34is Lucien was off. I never tasted one of them, but
- 16:36I saw like videos and was awful. Resolution, just tell and look
- 16:40where we are now. Stand alone, will you just put
- 16:43it on wherever you go with the Oculus Quest?
- 16:45It's insane. And with Quantum Computing, when
- 16:48I remove it, I remember when I was young, but when people talk
- 16:51about quantum computers, it was just sci-fi, it wasn't a thing
- 16:55that people realistically thought was possible and now
- 17:00we're building them. My prediction is a combination
- 17:04of what we already have and the technology that they have in the
- 17:07movie, Minority Report. So obviously we have smart
- 17:11watches right now but they're very limited in terms of like
- 17:15You know what they can do that. You can have some a bit of apps.
- 17:18You can play music on there but it's quite limited as to what
- 17:21you can do, but it's essentially like having a mini phone on your
- 17:24wrist and what I predict is that we're going to have sort of like
- 17:27a an AR /. How do I put it hologram sort of
- 17:36thing where you can basically throw?
- 17:39What's your watch on to? Like a screen in front of you or
- 17:44maybe onto a wall or something like that?
- 17:46Basically a projection, and then you can interact with the
- 17:49projection. That's what's going to happen.
- 17:51I just don't know like how long it would take for that to
- 17:55happen, really nice. I see it is, it's coming similar
- 17:59but I think it's going to be more us.
- 18:03Like implants things like that. I mean, the the best example I
- 18:07can think of is a better version of the Google Glass one that
- 18:10doesn't look that ridiculous. And I mean, if everybody was
- 18:13wearing one of those, then you wouldn't need screens because
- 18:16the glasses could just project something at any angle and even
- 18:20shake with the people around you and, you know, if it had good
- 18:22motion tracking, which I know it's so far from the future.
- 18:25But, you know, it's stuff like that.
- 18:27And of course, artificial intelligence is going to make
- 18:29its way and, you know, do some stuff jump.
- 18:34Absolute Gary. Yeah, it scares the shit out of
- 18:37me, man. Like, when I hear about that
- 18:38stuff, like Elon Musk is proposed and I'm like, I'm not
- 18:41taking any implants, are you? Can you can try to sell me that
- 18:46in any way you want. I'm not putting anything in my
- 18:48body. Fuck that shit though.
- 18:51I'm sorry that's that's too funny and a curse away.
- 18:55I don't I don't care. It's um it's not the implants
- 18:59themselves that I'm afraid of. It's what people will do with
- 19:02him because if there's like Talking about that can play
- 19:04music directly into your brain, right?
- 19:06Yeah, that uses a torture device.
- 19:09If that thing has to be Wireless, they can't put a plug
- 19:12into your brain. So hack into it.
- 19:14Rick Astley 24/7. Endless Rick Row in your head
- 19:20like no, no, get it out of my head, please.
- 19:25It's not like you can, you know, dig out your eardrums to make it
- 19:28stop its playing into your brain.
- 19:31It it will never stop. Which Each and as a good moment
- 19:41which might be a bit more paranoid than most but
- 19:46especially with as soon as AI is cracked and people don't
- 19:49realize. These things will be kind of
- 19:51feed off of each other because an AI is only as powerful as the
- 19:54computer that runs it. You know, that's how fast it's
- 19:57going to think, but when can't quantum computers are broken,
- 19:59then the limit the speed limits on computers, just get Open wide
- 20:03open. Which means if you run an AI on
- 20:06a quantum computer, it, it thinks, and I mean, already on a
- 20:11normal computer, I don't think much faster than humans can.
- 20:14So if you give it access to Quantum computing power, it will
- 20:17think even faster. And it will, it will outpace Us
- 20:20in an instant. And people always say, oh, it
- 20:23just tell the computer that it's not allowed to harm humans it
- 20:27like it needs to work out for the best villains, but
- 20:29eventually the outcome that's in the movies.
- 20:31Isn't that impossible? I love.
- 20:33Hey, the only way to protect humans is to, you know, put them
- 20:36in cages because they are danger.
- 20:38Always a danger to themselves. I mean we jump out of planes for
- 20:42fucks sakes. How can the computer not see
- 20:45that? Because the computer won't be
- 20:46able to understand. Oh, it's for excitement, a
- 20:48computer can't get bored. So it can't understand why we do
- 20:52exciting things. So totally, oh, they could
- 20:54putting themselves in Danger. Let's stop them from doing that
- 20:58so they can't die. And yeah, it's that's took
- 21:01hypothetical since since In that field.
- 21:04Do you think we're headed for our sort of like you know,
- 21:07Terminator style situation where we're fighting a I fighting
- 21:12around creation? Or do you think it will be more
- 21:14like I don't know. Let's say what's that movie that
- 21:18Will Smith was in the early 2000s.
- 21:20I Rabbi robot, you know, stuff like that where we're sort of
- 21:23living side by side with with with AI because there's a lot of
- 21:28interesting things to discuss here.
- 21:31Like for example, Servitude, you know, like this idea that like
- 21:36robots Androids, whatever would be essentially like slaves to
- 21:41humans should, you know, Androids cyborgs, whatever shit
- 21:45robots. Should they have their own
- 21:47rights just, as humans, like, should they just be slaves to us
- 21:52like, you know, there's a lot of considerations here and, you
- 21:56know, I'm just interested in your thoughts on that.
- 21:57And like, where do you think it's realistically, headed?
- 22:00Like, obviously, we discussed a couple of light funny, why not
- 22:03funny? Scenarios but like you know
- 22:04extreme scenarios there but where do you think it's actually
- 22:07headed based on what's happening right now?
- 22:09I think the best example that I can think of is I don't know how
- 22:13much you're into video games, but the game Detroit become
- 22:15human which is probably one of the best games that has been
- 22:18made in recent history. If anyone hasn't go play, it is
- 22:22fantastic and it really gives a good look into this and that
- 22:25swept the cheering toast and something similar to the
- 22:27cheering test will come in because you can and I mean of
- 22:31course people will tell you. Hey listen you you You can
- 22:33torture your robot. That's not.
- 22:35Okay. Because Rob the robots will most
- 22:37likely look humanoid. And I'm at least vaguely human
- 22:41like they do in our oh, but I don't think.
- 22:42Germinate is what will happen because if it happens we won't
- 22:46win. There is no way we can win
- 22:48against an AI that controls every single Factory and every
- 22:52single process on Earth will lose in a heartbeat.
- 22:56But in the more, I Robot 2, Detroit become human scenario.
- 22:59You need to think do these robots have.
- 23:02Can they feel That's the biggest thing and can they think like a
- 23:06human does Kenda a reason instead of just thinking
- 23:09logically? Can they one of the best
- 23:11examples of a zero Turing test is, will the computed willingly
- 23:17without being told? Hey, listen taking the risk.
- 23:19My glee to reward. Will it be able to think for
- 23:21itself? Hey, this is a risky thing to
- 23:23do, but it has a big payoff and it might be worth it even with
- 23:28the risks involved, like I can't.
- 23:31Okay, the base example, I can think of Which is kind of
- 23:33stupid, but it's like gambling on the stock market.
- 23:36Mmm, let's get a very drastic one, right?
- 23:39Jumping out of a plane, with a parachute to catch someone else.
- 23:43That's very risky. Because what if your Parish
- 23:46felt? What if you can't catch them?
- 23:48But in a human world, I like to think that I'd make that
- 23:52decision when I haven't been put in that scenario.
- 23:55So I don't know. But I like to think that if I
- 23:57see, hey, if someone's falling out of a plane I have a
- 23:59parachute. Clicks jump off to them, it's
- 24:00see if I can help, but will it robots thing?
- 24:03Okay, listen, that human is going.
- 24:05Most likely going to die now. So I'm not going to jump.
- 24:07Or will it take the risk? Another interesting thing that,
- 24:11okay, I'm gonna lower the tone a little bit, but I think it's
- 24:14still worth exploring because it's a fair kind of thing is,
- 24:18you know, there's a lot humans that enjoy sort of physical pain
- 24:23for sexual pleasure, you know, and, you know, that can be
- 24:27anything from sort of things like bondage, and BDSM and such
- 24:30stuff like that to such simple things like chalk.
- 24:33Kicking and stuff like that, would a robot be able to
- 24:36recognize that kind of stuff in terms of, you know, humans
- 24:43interacting with each other or even you know, humans
- 24:45interacting with robots. You don't know me like how would
- 24:48they know the limit where to go? You know, is this too far?
- 24:51Is this actually violence gin? And I mean, like, that's an
- 24:54interesting, you know, I, I know because I'm it's something that
- 24:57we've discussed that, we've discussed in the podcast, is the
- 25:00first person to make a fully automated system.
- 25:03Robot is going to be an instant billionaire of cause they are
- 25:07more than enough either. Curious or lonely people who
- 25:10would buy and I'm not talking about just one that.
- 25:12Can you want? I want one that can speak and
- 25:14respond. Yes.
- 25:15And, you know, right, but that's where probably a given.
- 25:19I'm going to tackle this from programmers perspective, that's
- 25:22way the account of a safe word, would be absolutely crucial.
- 25:26You would tell the robot. Hey, anything goes until I say
- 25:30this word. If I say this word, stop, Top.
- 25:33And that's now assuming that they want the robot to head to
- 25:36them. If it's the other way around, I
- 25:39think it will get very dark a very quickly because it's a
- 25:42robot. So, there isn't, there isn't
- 25:45really a point where you have to stop where if someone's life
- 25:47would normally be in danger. But I also think that they would
- 25:50be some, it's a weird thing when you think about the robots being
- 25:55the submissive one in that regard because how do they, how
- 25:58does the robot recognize? Hey, listen, this needs to stop.
- 26:02I'm in danger because If we follow asimov's Laws of Robotics
- 26:05that they need to always obey humans.
- 26:08So if they're about says, Hey listen, I'm going to break you
- 26:13apart piece by piece. You're not allowed to fight
- 26:15back, they're all but can't really because they're all the
- 26:18first one of the laws is you can't hurt Youmans so it's not
- 26:23allowed to fight back. What's it to do?
- 26:25And it gets really dark because it's it reveals like a person
- 26:29that does that to a robot that looks human.
- 26:32That's not a person. That's probably right in the
- 26:34head. Well, this kind of burns this
- 26:37kind of brings in this idea of like, you know, rules and rights
- 26:43for robots. Now, I know that sounds like a
- 26:44crazy thing to think about now but like you made a really good
- 26:48point in terms of like, okay, the robot would have
- 26:51preservation installed within it like to protect itself against
- 26:55danger, but against certain things, you know, just as you
- 26:58know, a human being would do, if someone's fighting you, you
- 27:01fight back, you don't sit and just I take it you and it's the
- 27:05same. I would imagine with the robot
- 27:07would be programmed to understand that it needs to do
- 27:10that to protect itself. So then that brings in this,
- 27:14this whole group, massive kind of group of considerations, like
- 27:19should they have rights? Should they be able to say no
- 27:23consent? That's a big part of this.
- 27:25Should a robot. Be able to say yes or no, where
- 27:29does that it? So I think that people need to
- 27:32think about because And I know this is a bit different but
- 27:35people say, oh, I robots having, right?
- 27:37That's crazy. Well about 100 years or less 100
- 27:41years. So that people saying hey women
- 27:44and people of color, right? That's crazy.
- 27:47No, it's something that this is a discussion that's going to
- 27:51need to be had as machines and as AI progresses because it's
- 27:55not impossible to imagine a no, there goes my long, it's not
- 27:59impossible to imagine an AI that can Let's catch another has
- 28:04emotion. I mean, I mean for all intense
- 28:08purposes, if you look and this is a bad example.
- 28:09But if you look at your Sims in the, in the game, I mean lately,
- 28:13at least, at least of simulated emotions.
- 28:17I mean, and we've gotten. So we've come so far with
- 28:21technology. I mean we have a chat Bots that
- 28:23at least vaguely seem human and they learn and it's only a
- 28:28matter of time it when we built. And we see when you start
- 28:30building, AI that improves upon itself and Learns from people
- 28:34and starts learning the difference between right and
- 28:35wrong. It's only a matter of time until
- 28:37we have one that feels and as soon as that barrier breaks, we
- 28:41have problems. Because what do you how do you
- 28:44handle a robot that feels? Can you turn her off?
- 28:47No, him off. What do you call it her or him?
- 28:50It what is the so many things that need to be talked about?
- 28:55And that's why I think the choice become human is such a
- 28:57great game because it handles it all.
- 28:59And through the play interaction, you see how things
- 29:02are? Out in different scenarios like
- 29:04because you have three main characters, is no Corner, which
- 29:11is a police robot. So his job is upholding the
- 29:13piece. So if he defects that's going
- 29:16against, its prime directive of, you know, upholding the law,
- 29:19making sure things occur at the crime doesn't happen.
- 29:22You have the car who is a victim of abuse even though she's a
- 29:26robot, it still it still happens and she defects to protect girl
- 29:31and there's another one. Let's say.
- 29:33So you see, it's a household robot and she sees a father
- 29:37abusing his child, right? Yeah.
- 29:40It's hurting the father acceptable in the me in the ends
- 29:43to protect the child, because, of course, you should protect
- 29:46the kid, but how far can you push that AIO?
- 29:49I can you kill the father in if it means protecting the child.
- 29:52Like what of because it's like in if I was there if it was the
- 29:55only way. Yes.
- 29:57Kill the father to protect to protect the child because the
- 30:00father isn't, I mean, yes, try everything else.
- 30:02But if that is the only way That's what needs to be done.
- 30:05You can't just let the child suffer but how do you how does
- 30:08the robot? How do you later robot?
- 30:10No, listen, this is the right thing to do and it does a robot
- 30:13feel guilt. What?
- 30:14If the robot doesn't feel remorse and goes on a killing
- 30:16spree, you know, the thing that interests me the most is that
- 30:20these things haven't fully been ironed out, discussed and
- 30:24finalized yet because low, you know, we have in, in abundance
- 30:29of probably, like 50 years worth of media in terms of films
- 30:34movies, audio dramas, whatever, the explore these themes in
- 30:38terms of science fiction. And eventualities this is what
- 30:41could happen. This is the worst of what could
- 30:44happen, this is the best of what could happen, you know, so much
- 30:47out there and there. Of those movies games.
- 30:50They all deal with these fiends. They all sort of say like, hey,
- 30:53you know, it's important that we establish dears, it's important
- 30:56that we established that, you know, we need to establish
- 30:58rights. We need to be wary of this, be
- 31:01wary of that. Like, I don't think.
- 31:05Yeah. Okay.
- 31:06How can I put this? It's clear that this is going to
- 31:10happen. It's just a matter of time at
- 31:12this point and I think it makes sense to sort of like figure
- 31:16this out. Now before we get to a point
- 31:19where like, you know we don't have time to figure it out and
- 31:23we just have time to react because I feel like that's
- 31:25always the worst thing that you can do in.
- 31:28Life is just like, reacts on the moment that something is
- 31:31happening in a sort of knee-jerk reaction as a It's when you
- 31:36there's a train about to pass by my house that's going to be
- 31:38loud, okay, I'm raising my apartment, you're probably it
- 31:43comes hi sorry hi that's fine man.
- 31:47No worries man we can it's not even that bad.
- 31:50Yeah. Actually that kind of that kind
- 31:52of leads me onto it to my next thing dial you know it forces I
- 31:58like I can throw a stone at my window.
- 32:01I can hit the train. Wow.
- 32:04How did how Do you deal with that?
- 32:05How do you like cope with that every single day I live with the
- 32:10pain to do to do certain phrase? I mean, what else can I do it?
- 32:15Just I mean, we didn't know when we got this place, no one told
- 32:18us. And we couldn't see, you know,
- 32:19we lived a few hundred miles away, we could have scout out
- 32:22this Apartments all the ratings were good.
- 32:24Everyone said, hey, yeah, this is a nice place.
- 32:26We got here train tracks, that's why it is Jesus.
- 32:30I like yeah it passes by like Times a day too bad.
- 32:37Actually, I wouldn't it be more? Here's the thing.
- 32:39It it pauses by the like 5 a.m. at.
- 32:42Listen, I know a lot of people say, oh, you need to wake up at
- 32:455:00 a.m. to be productive. Fuck you.
- 32:46I wake up at 10, like and I go to sleep and, like, 2 or 3 a.m.
- 32:51So if people can't be mad at my store, only get eight hours of
- 32:54sleep, my work days, just shifted onwards.
- 32:56So that thing wakes me up in the middle of my sleep and, and I'm
- 33:00not. And I just it, yeah, it's it's
- 33:03real nice. I'm not gonna get salty of it
- 33:06and this is the bait I made. I must lie in it.
- 33:09Let's, let's talk about South Africa for a bit because I feel
- 33:13like there's a lot of stuff we could talk about one thing that
- 33:17I want to bring up is the Internet situation in South
- 33:20Africa. Now, you're not the first guest
- 33:23that I've had, that's kind of discussed this from South
- 33:26Africa. Sorry and I had a similar
- 33:29problem when shout out to Buck much the coal when we were doing
- 33:32our podcast together because he And he has connection issues
- 33:37when he's out there needs been that it's just normality, it's
- 33:40just part of living in South Africa and that's actually
- 33:43something that you said to me in our messages prior to this
- 33:45podcast as well. And you said that, like
- 33:48sometimes people deliberately sabotage the internet and
- 33:53destroy the physically, destroy the internet cables on purpose,
- 33:58and I sort of said to you, what is this politically motivated?
- 34:02And you said no, it's just people fucking around and I just
- 34:04couldn't. Understand why people would do
- 34:06that. Like the internet is such an
- 34:07important tool for all of us to our daily lives.
- 34:11At this point. Like, why would you sabotage
- 34:13that for yourself? I don't understand that.
- 34:15I just wanna ask you just for context, what's your internet
- 34:17speed? Like, I mean, I don't know the
- 34:21speed, but I would say that it's very good here in the UK.
- 34:24Very stable. Like you, once in a blue moon,
- 34:30you might have a blip where there's, you know, certain times
- 34:33of the day where there's like, Lot of traffic and be.
- 34:36It rarely happens. I'll be honest, like, probably
- 34:39maybe once every like three months, you'll have a situation
- 34:42like that, where it's like overloaded and you can barely
- 34:45get in the internet, but most of the time, it's excellent.
- 34:48If I'm honest, I have, and I'm not saying this to flex.
- 34:52I'm saying this for context, me and my brother love to give it.
- 34:55And we have the best internet to that's, so you can get in South
- 34:59Africa, to my knowledge. It is 200 MB up down.
- 35:04Mmm. Right now, I see a lot of people
- 35:07in America going. Oh, my gigabit internet is only
- 35:10reaching 900 mpps done with that.
- 35:12Now, shut the fuck up. It's, you know what I would do
- 35:15to have that kind of incident and for the prices that they get
- 35:18it for internet down here is extremely, extremely expensive,
- 35:22relatively speaking in relative to other countries, like we pay
- 35:27right back when I still lived in the town, I go to university to
- 35:29I'm studying long distance. Now I paid I did a quick
- 35:35envisioned in my head, like 60 bucks, 60 US dollars a month for
- 35:39a 20, mb/s up down line. Yes, it was a fiber connection
- 35:44but it's still an insane amount of money for a very very low
- 35:48bandwidth connection and the internet every single time we
- 35:52get load shedding our internet dies and I have to reset and I
- 35:56have to you know go reconfigure the router.
- 35:59But look what happens when you're doing things like
- 36:02streaming and yeah, because obviously Streaming probably
- 36:06takes up the most internet or downloading anything that like,
- 36:10even what we're doing right now, you know, just just having a
- 36:13zoom call it anything. We're like, the internet's
- 36:15having to host it essentially and and deliver a lot of fast
- 36:20internet connection just quickly like how how does that work?
- 36:27Like always it, can you watch things without there being blips
- 36:30or facts about sometimes? They'll but I like it.
- 36:33And I'm fortunate enough that my brother I have really good
- 36:35internet. That wasn't always the case.
- 36:37We had two very, I have lived with very bad internet and I
- 36:41remember most of them fruit until I was like, until I moved
- 36:45to you to University. So until I was 18, I could not
- 36:48watch a YouTube video in 1080P without it buffering. 720p was a
- 36:52struggle like it just wasn't. As soon as I saw a video is in
- 36:5660fps I had to watch it at 480p, otherwise it would not work and
- 37:00it was I lived only go 720p late at night if no one else was on
- 37:04the Work then where I could watch a YouTube video nice and
- 37:07smoothly. It was, I remember sites would
- 37:10take long to load images, which I mean most, most people will
- 37:13click on the site and the images are just they they, if they
- 37:16don't click on the side and think, okay, well, I'll just
- 37:18have to wait a few seconds for the images to load.
- 37:20Like, I'm, I know, I know hmm. Before legality speak, before
- 37:25legality, I have never tormented anything illegal in my life, so
- 37:30a movie, if I wanted to download a movie, I would have to queue
- 37:34it then. Right the night before, go to
- 37:36sleep, wake up and eight hours later than movie would be
- 37:38downloaded. And this is like saving 20p our
- 37:42long movie. Like that's just how we did
- 37:45things just slow internet. And on the topic of people
- 37:48sabotaging, it's the people that they're looking for the copper
- 37:51cables. So they cannot the copper down
- 37:53and sell it, and I assume they thought the fiber cable that
- 37:56connects the inner Insanity of was, you know, not a fight.
- 38:00Was there a copper cable and they just fucking broke it.
- 38:02Sorry for the language. But Frustrating.
- 38:06Yeah. That's this is quickly.
- 38:07Talk about illegal downloads. Now years ago, I remember when
- 38:11this sort of first kind of started being a thing here in
- 38:13the UK until the me, I'd say the mid-2000s or when LimeWire
- 38:18websites like that were programs like that.
- 38:21Sorry. What were prevalent?
- 38:23There were obviously a lot, you know, there was just stuff in
- 38:27the government and the police would often say things like, you
- 38:30know, you know you'll get a massive fine and you know, your
- 38:33height, your Service provider will cancel your, your internet
- 38:38and blah, blah, blah. And I have heard stories about
- 38:41this like it does happen, but it seems to me, like, it's very
- 38:47rare like, you would have to be downloading like maybe all the
- 38:51time constantly plus maybe seeding as well.
- 38:55Like, it doesn't really seem like something that often
- 38:59happens. And I know from personal
- 39:00experience, I've lived in other countries in Europe where they
- 39:03don't actually give I fuck like, you know, it's not even illegal.
- 39:07It's just like everyone does it? So it sounds like something that
- 39:11is different from country to Country.
- 39:13Now, you sort of sort of mentioned, they're like, are you
- 39:15know, I've to say fairs like I've never done this whatever is
- 39:18it really serious and Africa? Like well what the animals but I
- 39:21mean you can get up to five years jail time but time and
- 39:30sorry. Sorry I'm it's one of your jail
- 39:32time and 500 I mean five. And Rand which is like, 350 USD
- 39:39fine. Sorry, I confused the numbers
- 39:40that are but still a jail time and that's per face.
- 39:44So like just one movie could get you fired from his jail time
- 39:47but, and I'm pretty sure this is how it works in most countries
- 39:51that it's not the downloading, that's illegal.
- 39:53The the language is very specific.
- 39:55It is the distribution of illegally, copyrighted material.
- 39:58So and I'm not saying do this because it's coming, but if you
- 40:01set up your torrent it to never upload, then you're not Breaking
- 40:05any laws because downloading isn't illegal having the things
- 40:08isn't illegal, it is uploading, it's sharing them.
- 40:11Succeeding, seeding is nice. Seating is that is the legal
- 40:15pot. Now, if I Torrent completely
- 40:18legal, think pro-free, shareware programs, that I get legally
- 40:22with the permission of people I've never tormented anything so
- 40:25I just need to cover my ass. I seed because I'm not that bad
- 40:30but a lot of my biggest advice that I can give to someone
- 40:34Invest in a VPN because if you get a good one, like a I'm
- 40:39saying this without being sponsored at all.
- 40:41Expressvpn, get it look, it's fast enough.
- 40:45So it especially if you choose a node in your own country or in a
- 40:50country near you like they are ones in South Africa that I can
- 40:53just choose, which means one your I speak, can't see what
- 40:56you're doing. So you don't have to worry if
- 40:58you're Googling some weird things and I mean, come on,
- 41:01we've all Google being the odd question in there.
- 41:04You don't have to worry about them and equality, VPN is
- 41:07indispensable. It's something that is and don't
- 41:10cheap out. I've used three vpns before and
- 41:12I still have them for just in case.
- 41:15I'm like something like proton VPN but you cannot it just can't
- 41:21compare to a good quality. Paid VPN like Express own on VPN
- 41:26because in a lot of websites that ban, the typical IP
- 41:31addresses of vpns. But if you get a good one that
- 41:33can't happen because It's like random IP so it's something that
- 41:37takes a lot of the worry out of it under the Galaxy.
- 41:43I don't. I'm not worried that no the the
- 41:46cops will come busting down my door.
- 41:47They pretty incompetence and I said it makes sense.
- 41:53I also kind of makes sense as to why torrenting has not actually
- 41:58been made illegal because I've seen like, obviously a lot of
- 42:01court cases companies like Pirate Bay are still in
- 42:04existence. Distance.
- 42:05And I want that like how is this possible?
- 42:07But it's probably on that premise that like not everything
- 42:10that store entered in shared is illegal.
- 42:13You know, like you mentioned they're like you know people
- 42:15software developers will share free programs with each other.
- 42:20Totally legal, totally aboveboard.
- 42:22It's all to do with copyright really.
- 42:24It's that is that issues work with torrenting if you download
- 42:27the Windows updates, that's a torrent.
- 42:29That's exactly. Yeah, right.
- 42:31Yeah, just so people know that just torrenting isn't illegal.
- 42:34It's piracy that's illegal people.
- 42:36Confuse the two lat? Yeah.
- 42:39Yeah. Let's let's move it back to just
- 42:41talking about Africa. For a second.
- 42:43Talk us through because you said, it's looks live in there.
- 42:47Tell me about the good, the good and the bad about Africa, or
- 42:50South Africa. Sorry, one thing I can say the
- 42:53country itself, like the physical land.
- 42:56It's beautiful. It's a really, it's a really,
- 42:58it's hot permanently, okay. It's a very, it's a very Pretty
- 43:05place to be and it for tourist. I encourage them.
- 43:09You don't go to the cities, don't go to Johannesburg and
- 43:12Cape Town in Pretoria or bloemfontein it.
- 43:14Go to somewhere like Sutherland with a big telescope.
- 43:18Isn't something that very few people have seen the Stars on a
- 43:21truly clear night away from his City.
- 43:24It is breathtaking. And then it is something that I
- 43:27know that I encourage anyone e if you if you think hey what
- 43:32should I do with? Like some excess money I have.
- 43:34Want to take a trip, take a trip to the middle of nowhere and
- 43:38watch the stars because there's nothing like it.
- 43:41So, the country is very nice and the culture of people because
- 43:44it's essentially a Melting Pot of a bunch of different cultures
- 43:49which just boils down to South African culture.
- 43:52It's very, it's the people in general are nice and the food is
- 43:59great because likes it. It's a Melting Pot of just
- 44:02everyone else's food so yeah. You could just eat, it's
- 44:06something you can sit down and like an average restaurant and
- 44:08you can get like something, it's something Indian, something
- 44:11Japanese something American like a cheeseburger because only the
- 44:15Americans can think to add an unruly amount of cheese onto a
- 44:18burger. It's just something a lot of
- 44:20people. And in a way I have our own food
- 44:23like built on, which is basically beef jerky, but bitten
- 44:26every single possible way imaginable.
- 44:31Then the bad is once again it can be boiled down to the Bull.
- 44:34It's, you know, racism is still something that runs deep here
- 44:38and a lot of people was like, oh yeah.
- 44:40It's the white people's fault. No, it's not.
- 44:43There's a lot of. Yes, they are white racists, but
- 44:47there it's not just white people who are racist.
- 44:50And I know this is a bit of a hot take.
- 44:52Everyone can be racist and saying, only white people can be
- 44:57racist, is a racist statement in and of itself.
- 45:00Because we're not, like I'm sitting here, I'm I'm not
- 45:05racist. I honestly do not care what skin
- 45:08like. And people think that people
- 45:10think I mean, I mean this literally but I cannot give less
- 45:13of a shit what color your skin is?
- 45:15Because it's honestly doesn't matter.
- 45:18Yeah and I'm and I think that people need to realize this
- 45:21perspective and speaking of his I'm speaking from the
- 45:23perspective of white man in a country way, the majority is
- 45:26black and to college like it's not the American situation where
- 45:30like we can't just press them even if we wanted to do.
- 45:33They outnumber us a It's like it even if he wanted to decide.
- 45:37Hey we want to. We want to bring that whole
- 45:39upper part of that thing back again.
- 45:41No, it's not going to happen. It's not and it's not something
- 45:45that we want. It's on the topic of our
- 45:49products are part of. It wasn't abolished by Nelson
- 45:51Mandela. It was abolished by a white
- 45:53president, not until I had a huge role and he is a great man,
- 45:56but if it wasn't for, so for the cooperation of, a lot of people
- 46:01working together because that's what it's about.
- 46:04It's about a people working together to fight the problems
- 46:08not separating. Say, oh, white men are the
- 46:11problem. No racism is the problem and we
- 46:14all need to work together to fight against that.
- 46:17Not say how they are the problem they spoke boot.
- 46:19They're not and yes, we are white racist but guess what?
- 46:23Yeah. Races of every single race Creed
- 46:25nationality and gender, you can possibly imagine because
- 46:29Prejudice is just something that runs deep in people.
- 46:33And I'm not saying that I haven't said, racist things or
- 46:35done racist things. I have, I openly admit to that
- 46:38because it's, it's part of the culture of how we were raised.
- 46:43Some people are just racist and if you exposed to that of the
- 46:45young age you sort of pick up on some of that.
- 46:48But I'm don't do it anymore, especially not on purpose
- 46:52because that's not how I want to live.
- 46:55And that's not how I think this place should be run and people
- 46:58me to one of the largest political figures in our
- 47:01country. Wrote a song called That the
- 47:04title translates to shoot the farmers which farmers are what
- 47:09white people are referred to here.
- 47:11So it's virtually sings shoot the whites and people.
- 47:16There was no uproar. In fact, a lot of people agreed
- 47:18with him and that if I went into streets and started singing
- 47:22shoot the blacks, I would be to use the word.
- 47:26I will be cancelled too fast that I can finish the sentence
- 47:29and there's a lot of people who don't realize it runs both ways.
- 47:33And I'm not saying that I am living a bad life in that, I am
- 47:37being discriminated against, I'm not.
- 47:39But what I'm saying is, people need to especially Americans.
- 47:43They need to get their heads out of their asses and realized I
- 47:46wish I wish I could just make some of those people live in
- 47:52South Africa. Olivia Lee shoes of the average
- 47:54South African for a week because my mother lives on a farm.
- 47:58I need to live every single day worrying that she might be
- 48:01murdered because the farmer Nothing people, Target farmers
- 48:05and kill them because of reparations and because they
- 48:08want not that, I need to be rightfully given to them.
- 48:11They want to take it if they were, don't want to go through
- 48:14the legal system, to get the land that was taken from their
- 48:16forefathers. They just want to go in and take
- 48:18it, which isn't the right way to do it because I know people, I
- 48:23know white ones who have been this on those funds since they
- 48:26since they ancestor the landed in this country and yes, give
- 48:31some of the land back. No, but don't take people's
- 48:35livelihoods away. You know, there is a balance
- 48:37there that can be met way everyone can get what they want
- 48:41and what they need and we can stop, you know, building a good
- 48:45proper country, but then, you know, it's never going to happen
- 48:49because the government is corrupt, the people hate each
- 48:51other. We can't keep the fucking lights
- 48:53on. Yeah, it's a rent.
- 48:57No, it's fine. It's kind of crazy, like, some
- 48:59of the things that are going on there.
- 49:01Like, yeah, those blackouts the internet problems.
- 49:04Obviously, as you mentioned that, the mass racism racism is
- 49:08prevalent in any country. It's just one of those things.
- 49:11It's ignorance. It's, I mean, it interests me.
- 49:16I can understand it in a country, like, South Africa,
- 49:18where there's a lot of history there.
- 49:20There's. Yeah, I'm not by any means.
- 49:22You know saying it's okay. But like I at least understand
- 49:25it. But why it still happens to this
- 49:29day when I see it in countries, like, you know, the UK.
- 49:34Again, you know, is rooted in history but it's kind of It's
- 49:40just it's nonsensical I mean, racism is nonsensical anyway,
- 49:44obviously, but it's like, I don't know.
- 49:47It's like They never have any any good arguments.
- 49:52They never have any kind of like logical arguments, they never
- 49:55have anything, it's just kind of mass ignorance organized into
- 50:01like groups. And, you know, I mean, it's like
- 50:05you said at the very beginning, you know, like you don't care if
- 50:08someone's black white asian, whatever, like, you know, and
- 50:10it's the same for me, I don't even think in such terms, like
- 50:13I'm just kind of, I see people generally mean and I'm not
- 50:17trying to, I'm not trying to be all like Preachy here.
- 50:20But genuinely, that's how I see it.
- 50:22You know, I grew up in London in the UK, which is a multicultural
- 50:27City. And from a very young age, I was
- 50:30exposed to people from all different, nationalities,
- 50:34Creed's colors, whatever. And that, that for me was just
- 50:38life, that's okay. That's just people, look
- 50:40different people. And if anything, I'm the one
- 50:43thing about me as a person is, I've always had a kind of like,
- 50:45childlike fascination with anything that differs from me.
- 50:50So like if I see a black person if I see and you know, Asian
- 50:54Muslim, I just want to know more, I want to know more about
- 50:57their culture. I want to know like because I'm
- 50:59just fascinated. I like anything.
- 51:01That's anything that I have not experienced or I know nothing
- 51:05about. I want to know more about and I
- 51:08don't understand racists from that perspective because it's
- 51:11like, why wouldn't you want to know about all the amazing
- 51:14things that exist in the world and all the different
- 51:18nationalities cut? Cultures different types of
- 51:21music, different types of food. I mean, if you're a racist,
- 51:24you're essentially just like restricting yourself, limiting
- 51:28your own life experience and I just think that's really sad.
- 51:32And, you know, you're just losing out in the long run and,
- 51:37you know, I I feel like a broken record of said this before on
- 51:41the podcast but like I, whenever I actually hear a racist or meet
- 51:46a racist like I just don't actually know what to say.
- 51:49I mean obviously if they're like doing that to a friend of mine,
- 51:53I'll confront them obviously. And I have done but like when
- 51:57you just hear it or see it it's like really like what you know,
- 52:03you kind of just find yourself like take him back.
- 52:06You like of all the things in the world to be like You know,
- 52:11worried about doing it every day.
- 52:14Like, this is the thing, this is your this gentleman, like it
- 52:18just kind of believe you're deciding to waste your time on.
- 52:21Yeah. And it's a meeting, someone else
- 52:23the invalid, because of how they look, but this is the thing,
- 52:26like, every sort of documentary I've ever seen on racist.
- 52:29Like, if you take some of the stuff in, in the, in the
- 52:33America, with the KKK and stuff, when you get people that do
- 52:36documentaries, where they go, like, there's this amazing that
- 52:39guy in America, I can't remember his name.
- 52:41But he's famous for sitting down with the leaders of cake, okay.
- 52:46And just talking to them just having a normal conversation and
- 52:49he's like, you know, done that successfully.
- 52:52He's converted many. Many people, you know, he's an
- 52:56amazing man. I can't remember his name, but
- 52:58amazing guy. And it always interests me when
- 53:03you confront racists and you just, you know, you don't get
- 53:06angry, you don't get aggressive. You just literally deconstruct
- 53:10their argument is that okay? So this is what you believe tell
- 53:13me why you believe that and then you basically throw counter
- 53:15arguments in a calm and rational Manner and a lot of time you can
- 53:19just defeat them and they don't know what to say next because
- 53:22all of their hatred is illogical.
- 53:25And it's built from, you know, years of paranoia of reading
- 53:29things in newspapers or or what, you know, their parents, their
- 53:33families have installed in them over in generations and none of
- 53:37it comes from, you know, actual experience.
- 53:40And don't get me wrong, I know. There are some people out there
- 53:42that have had bad experiences with, with people from certain
- 53:46races and they base that kind of prejudice on that.
- 53:50But I think it's kind of a bit of a leap to say, okay, so a few
- 53:53people. Fuck me over from like this
- 53:54particular race. Therefore, I'm going to hate
- 53:57them for eternity. Like that doesn't make any sense
- 54:00to me, that people are people. You can get screwed over by
- 54:02anyone, and it doesn't have any reflection on their nationality
- 54:08Creek. I'll erase whatever.
- 54:09It's just that particular person, You over because humans,
- 54:13unfortunately, a like that, but I think people need to
- 54:20acknowledges and people always bring up the fifteen fifty
- 54:23percent. I mean the Thirteen fifty
- 54:25percent argument in America, you know, I think, I think the exact
- 54:29code is, despite making up only 13% of the population.
- 54:32Black people commit 50% of the violence, crimes, right?
- 54:35That's it. That's just that this
- 54:36significance. Turn around America.
- 54:38Now, I don't have to statistic is true or not.
- 54:40I haven't I wasn't. I've been bothered to look it up
- 54:42but if it's true I'm gonna humor in.
- 54:45So I'd say it's true instead of saying, hey back people can are
- 54:49more violent. Let's say, hey let's look into
- 54:51this. Let's say let's see why this is
- 54:54happening is a disenfranchisement is a
- 54:55depression. Is it just general
- 54:57discrimination that they feel they need to do this.
- 54:59It's don't don't denounce statistics, you know, don't
- 55:04denounce fact, find the root of the facts find there and if it's
- 55:07a problem fix it because something that seems like a
- 55:10problem. No one.
- 55:11It commits any violent crime so let's find the root and fix it
- 55:15is like, what if it's, you know, desperation what if because?
- 55:20Yeah, it's if you go by ratios it, actually I shouldn't say
- 55:25this because I have no idea about my own country statistics,
- 55:27but in my own experience. If you just go by ratios, then
- 55:32more black people live in poverty than white people in
- 55:34South Africa. I mean, if you don't go parishes
- 55:37of because the out because they are like, 821 up number, if I
- 55:41remember. The biggest correctly.
- 55:42So why is that? Is it still remnants of what
- 55:45happened? During a part of?
- 55:46It is a discrimination in the workplace.
- 55:48People want willing to hire black or college workers like
- 55:51find the problem and fix it. Don't denounce the statistic
- 55:55because a lot of things those that is it will point to a
- 55:59larger problem, that needs addressing and if you say, oh
- 56:02no, that can't be true. Oh, that's fake news.
- 56:05Then you're going to miss out on that problem and miss out on an
- 56:08opportunity to address it and fix it.
- 56:11So many times it's like to bring it back to being a program.
- 56:14It's like seeing a boxing. Oh no, that's it's no, it's not
- 56:17a problem and just building on with it and eventually it grows
- 56:21into a much bigger problem. That's much harder to fix.
- 56:24Is there just ironing it out when you have the chance now?
- 56:27And I think we can achieve so much if we just work together
- 56:30and to put up bullshit differences aside for once.
- 56:34Absolutely, I couldn't agree more, especially if you know our
- 56:37ambition is to explore splay. Export it.
- 56:41Explore space and you know, potentially meet
- 56:44extraterrestrials. I think the fact that we can't
- 56:47even get along with each other says a lot about our chances of
- 56:51Success With regards to that. So anyway, moving it Forward,
- 56:56you're studying programming at University, you've mentioned
- 56:59quite a few times throughout that you're, you know, involved
- 57:02in that sphere. So how is it going?
- 57:03And what do you plan to do after University for work?
- 57:07Well, I really want to go into either a, i Or virtual reality
- 57:12like those. I think those two are the future
- 57:15of my field, you know? But I mean, what I really want,
- 57:20what I really want to do anything in that, that's the
- 57:22dream is you make a success in podcasting or youtubing or
- 57:25streaming or even the editing that I'm doing like working with
- 57:29multimedia something that I really enjoy like audio video
- 57:32images. So if I can make a job out of
- 57:34that, I'd be happy. Like if this editor thing can
- 57:37turn into something that's you know, pays enough to live off of
- 57:40if I can. Managed to stop making an income
- 57:43from streaming and YouTube and podcast and things like that
- 57:45that are, that's the dream. But if not, I would be happy
- 57:49working in working like programming with AI or virtual
- 57:53reality or anything like that. You know.
- 57:55Yeah. You mentioned a few times within
- 57:58that and front podcast. Yeah, that you do video editing
- 58:01and I noticed that you're a video editor editor for a fairly
- 58:04successful YouTuber by the name of slick Goku who I believe has
- 58:08somewhere in the region of 70,000 to Hundred thousand.
- 58:12I think, right? Thank you.
- 58:14I think he crossed ATK like a week or so ago.
- 58:17If, right? Yeah, I should probably keep a
- 58:20bed of oh, we crossed 90,000. Well, okay.
- 58:22Well, I know, I know there's a bit of a push going from his
- 58:26community to try and get him over 100k by like the end of the
- 58:29month, if I remember correctly. So, yeah, he does kind of like,
- 58:34was it as I Dragon Ball Z style. Meme videos.
- 58:37Is that right? Something like that.
- 58:38Yeah. Originally he He originally the
- 58:42character came from a different channel of the two GL 2 GS.
- 58:46I think it was where they did a bridged version of Dragon Ball
- 58:51Z. And he, I'm The Man Behind the
- 58:53channel voiced, the characters slick, Goku and the, I don't
- 59:00know if the series just stopped but each of the people took
- 59:03their characters and kind of use the personas to create channels.
- 59:07So it is a channel that is quite a good waiter.
- 59:11On by the select Goku character and, you know, they'd be skids.
- 59:15And, you know, a few story is like story time because, you
- 59:18know what it really average YouTuber would do but just from
- 59:23with thick, with these characters and how did you get,
- 59:28you know, this particular job working as his editor and you
- 59:32know, how did you get into video editing in general?
- 59:34And how many clients are you actually managing at this time?
- 59:38At this point it's only one because I'm Leslie starts up in
- 59:42three days and I want to check my fluid pick up anything else?
- 59:45Yeah I want to see what we've got so I can balance things
- 59:47because I have more. I have a bit more time so I can
- 59:51do more, but I want that that's just without University being
- 59:54bit. So I would just want to see
- 59:55before I pick up anything else and it was pure luck.
- 59:58I went on Twitter for the first time in a very long time because
- 1:00:01I'm the new episode of, I think it.
- 1:00:05Yeah, I know. I just re-watched and Sword Art
- 1:00:08Online Abridged which is to anyone listening if Didn't like
- 1:00:12sort of, in mind the anime go watch The Abridged Series by
- 1:00:15something with entertainment on YouTube that I say, honestly not
- 1:00:18just funny, but I better version of this story.
- 1:00:22So I check his Twitter and I went down a rabbit hole and
- 1:00:25eventually I came across a tweet that the guy made him said Hayes
- 1:00:28looking for editors and like hey I know edit, I can try this soap
- 1:00:32night. I've sent him messages like okay
- 1:00:33cool, I'll give you a video where you can edit it and we'll
- 1:00:35see if it works out and I did and I'm now I have even I'm a I
- 1:00:41accidentally managed to create a better, not a main character,
- 1:00:45but like a side character in the universe.
- 1:00:47Like the editor is now a recognised character in his
- 1:00:51videos. Haha, I didn't mean to happen
- 1:00:54but nowadays which is it's fun it and I enjoyed doing it and
- 1:00:59some of the work is tedious, but that's just what editing is a
- 1:01:02lot of. It can be very tedious, but it's
- 1:01:05fun. It's fun.
- 1:01:06What advice would you be able to give to people that want to get
- 1:01:10into the field of Yo editing, patience is a virtue, like I
- 1:01:16cannot describe like you will see you're going to spend hours
- 1:01:19and hours and hours working on a single like five seconds of the
- 1:01:24video. But as soon as it's all done and
- 1:01:27you get the feedback and you see how you people say, hey, this
- 1:01:29looks good and you get paid. It's worth it.
- 1:01:32Because in the end and this, again, this works for any visit
- 1:01:35Vice for any job in the end. The work you do as soon as it's
- 1:01:39done. It's over.
- 1:01:41But the Awards, you get stays with you, whether it's money or
- 1:01:44experience, or anything like that.
- 1:01:45You keep that you hold onto that it's yours.
- 1:01:49So it's in and you just need to push through and also figure out
- 1:01:54how keyframes work, they are invaluable.
- 1:01:58Those are the two main things for video editing.
- 1:02:01You regularly write stories on Reddit, why do you choose to do
- 1:02:05this? What are the benefits and what
- 1:02:07do you like about Reddit, thread itself?
- 1:02:11I can take it or leave it as a platform to be honest.
- 1:02:14Okay, the thing is the thing about Reddit, which makes it so
- 1:02:18special effects over like that is the amount of communities.
- 1:02:22There's always if you will find someone some community that
- 1:02:26agrees with it, which can be Ed. Because, I mean no matter what
- 1:02:30you believe, they will be someone who agrees with you and
- 1:02:32believes with you. I started writing because I'm I
- 1:02:37was just browsing Reddit two years back now but early. 28 in
- 1:02:41Delhi 2019 and I something at recommended to me from a
- 1:02:46subreddit saw /. HF Y which stands for Humanity.
- 1:02:49Fuck yeah. Which you know in a lot of
- 1:02:52movies the Trope is when we meet Aliens, we either the same as
- 1:02:56them or worse. Lying, but the entire theme of
- 1:03:00this subreddit is writing stories.
- 1:03:02Where humanity is the shit. We are the cream of the crop.
- 1:03:05The top of the line, the best of the best.
- 1:03:08Another side of him. No I've been I've been doing
- 1:03:11I've written a few things before but I've never published
- 1:03:14anything or put anything out there, so let's run, write
- 1:03:17something. So I wrote an open-ended story,
- 1:03:21you know, in a short, open-ended thing about aliens invading and
- 1:03:25you know, just one dude, helping ice.
- 1:03:27Squadron of other aliens that came to help us and it's got a
- 1:03:31really positive reception. So it's like, okay, but let's
- 1:03:35keep this going. And now, I am in the just
- 1:03:38yesterday. I finally after two months of
- 1:03:41waiting, I finally wrote the second part of The Last Arc of
- 1:03:45the story. So it took off and a lot of
- 1:03:47people really enjoyed it, which which means a lot to me, like,
- 1:03:52I'm very happy that it managed to take off like that, congrats
- 1:03:56man. Sounds like It's certainly
- 1:03:58something you should continue doing for sure.
- 1:04:01I'm gonna I'm gonna finish the story if it kills me, I'm going
- 1:04:05to finally finish this thing and yeah, it and it's a lot of fun.
- 1:04:09I like I discovered I really enjoy writing and, you know, I
- 1:04:12already have the I like I have a notebook in my drawer.
- 1:04:16Notwithstanding this droids in one of these drawers which I
- 1:04:19write all my own. Oh it's in my backpack.
- 1:04:21That's over there. I'm not gonna go get it right
- 1:04:22now, but all of my, I already have ideas for the next three
- 1:04:25stories that I'm going to right after this.
- 1:04:27Northern this universe, not even in the same genre, necessarily
- 1:04:31want to try branching out, but don't already know what I'm
- 1:04:33going to write as soon as I finish this one and I know how
- 1:04:36this story is going to finish as well.
- 1:04:37I just need to, you know, fill in the space between now and the
- 1:04:41end and it's a lot of fun and it's going to be kind of sad
- 1:04:45once I finish it. Because, you know, it I've built
- 1:04:47this universe, I created the characters, I hear you grow
- 1:04:49attached to these. Yeah, I get that all good.
- 1:04:53Things must come to an end. Absolutely, who has pretty much
- 1:04:55what I was going to say next. So you're currently working on a
- 1:05:00visual novel Style game. Tell us more about that.
- 1:05:04Okay. So again, there's going to
- 1:05:07reflect badly on me, but if the game is going to be rated R
- 1:05:10plus, but optionally, there's going to be a trigger for that.
- 1:05:12And the only reason I made that decision is because hentai game
- 1:05:15sell better, okay? Like I went and checked, they
- 1:05:19honestly do. I don't know why I decided to do
- 1:05:23this. I can't pinpoint.
- 1:05:26You two a moment we decided. Hey, this Something I'm gonna do
- 1:05:28it just one time. Some that they're just decided
- 1:05:30to sit down that, huh. I see a lot of these games in my
- 1:05:35steam recommendations because I have friends who play them and
- 1:05:37you know you get recommended things that your friends do and
- 1:05:42on. They don't play hands.
- 1:05:43Like it was a play visual novel games and I said, I was like,
- 1:05:45huh? I guess recommended some of
- 1:05:47these. I can make one of these.
- 1:05:48I could naively. I thought I can write it's a lot
- 1:05:52harder than. It seems to write something with
- 1:05:54multiple endings but you know, so I so I I sat down and I
- 1:05:58started writing Up character sheets for the six main girls in
- 1:06:03the story because one of the traps is you know, that you have
- 1:06:05it, your choice between which of these girls who want to pursue
- 1:06:08and then you get the good or bad ending and I'm not gonna do the
- 1:06:13degenerate thing. We can learn and we can in land
- 1:06:16more than one know you will. You will choose and you will if
- 1:06:20I can persevere and you will get the bad ending, if you fuck up
- 1:06:24and I'm it's something that I've decided I want this.
- 1:06:27Actually write a good story. You know, Survivor fan service
- 1:06:31is going to be just that it's gonna be Phantoms and I want to
- 1:06:33put a debug, this is the best I can, but it is I want and the
- 1:06:37same thing for the story that I'm writing on Reddit.
- 1:06:39I want my stories to be able to make people cry if I can put it
- 1:06:42like that. Like I want to actually make
- 1:06:44people feel something. Not just, you know.
- 1:06:46See yeah. That was cool.
- 1:06:47And then move on I wanted to try and leave an impact.
- 1:06:50So yeah, the I have one of my friends who said he'll try to do
- 1:06:54the art so at least you know, that some Cheap labor that I'm
- 1:06:58getting to. Yeah, it's nowhere near done.
- 1:07:01I saw it's not even bracket really started yet.
- 1:07:04I'm just still working on the main storylines before I start
- 1:07:08patting it out and actually making it into a fully-fledged
- 1:07:11story. And then a game that is playable
- 1:07:15So some of that is something I want to try and see if I can get
- 1:07:17like the vision one by the end of the year, best of luck with
- 1:07:21the hope it goes. Well, thanks, so you
- 1:07:23occasionally, create YouTube channels and I thought this was
- 1:07:26sorry, YouTube videos and I thought this is pretty
- 1:07:28interesting because you've got at least a thousand followers
- 1:07:32subscribers, which is hard to get.
- 1:07:34I mean, I've been trying for close to two and a half years to
- 1:07:37go. So I think you may have me
- 1:07:40confused with outside and not have at least a thousand Subs.
- 1:07:43I think you may have You can see I think if I say that I made
- 1:07:47with my streams crossed with the guy at it with I have almost
- 1:07:51zero that's interesting because I remember I looked at some one
- 1:07:55of the links that you have and it leads to a YouTube channel
- 1:08:00where there's like at least 1,000 or there's a lot of
- 1:08:02viewers or something. So you don't have a YouTube
- 1:08:04channel or you don't do it. I do it.
- 1:08:06I do have a YouTube channel. I'm sorry.
- 1:08:07I'm have linked to incorrect, even this, sorry, I don't.
- 1:08:10So I didn't mean to mislead you or anything like that though.
- 1:08:12I'm on my channel, but But I have like nine subscribers.
- 1:08:17Okay, sorry, I didn't mean to mislead to anything like that.
- 1:08:21Well, how dare you I found himself?
- 1:08:26It's cool, man. Oh, I mean, considering the fact
- 1:08:29that you're a video editor, do you think you were ever create
- 1:08:31videos for YouTube, just for your own stuff in the future, or
- 1:08:35I have but a lot of them are just, you know, they're nice.
- 1:08:39Word is a shitpost, like, one of them is assume you've seen
- 1:08:43Avengers and game. Yeah.
- 1:08:46Well I took it the a bit of the last battle The Avengers in game
- 1:08:49before they Captain Marvel comes flying in, but I per character
- 1:08:53scenes and replace it with scenes of Buzz, Lightyear, from
- 1:08:56Toy Story. 2, let's go to church, it's still it's one of
- 1:09:00my it's one of in my opinion. One of the best things that I've
- 1:09:02ever created. How many views did it go?
- 1:09:07Let me quickly go have a look at mine, you know?
- 1:09:10Maybe. Maybe it's the views.
- 1:09:11I'm thinking of that headlock on the other like a lot of use or
- 1:09:14something. If I have them, it's something
- 1:09:17that I absolutely must limit. Can I just click on this video,
- 1:09:20please? Why is everything struggling
- 1:09:23today? It will be because you're trying
- 1:09:24to do two things at once. Like, no, no, it's it's not too
- 1:09:28slow. It's just I can't click on in
- 1:09:30the oh, it's get. It's got like 18 views now.
- 1:09:33Okay. All right.
- 1:09:35It makes it. I don't really go out of my way
- 1:09:37to promote anything, you know. It's I just kind of do my own
- 1:09:41thing and I guess it's I mean, this is a video that shows
- 1:09:44Should have gotten copy striked instantly because you know, it's
- 1:09:48not okay to. I stole I String it up Stole,
- 1:09:52You Know, the music from Toy Story to the but it's still free
- 1:09:56you so I can monetize it, but I'm still gonna put it on
- 1:09:58because I think it's funny. It's interesting, it's
- 1:10:02interesting when it comes to YouTube like whether or not it's
- 1:10:05worth promoting or not, because like, I've got three YouTube
- 1:10:08channels now, right? And I just simply put, don't
- 1:10:11have the time to do everything that I want to do.
- 1:10:14So, I had to make the conscious decision to promote everything
- 1:10:17on my main Channel, not promote on my second Channel.
- 1:10:24And then my third Channel, only promote if it's like specific
- 1:10:28for a topic. Something trending, a particular
- 1:10:31occasion, something like that. I did pre-schedule everything
- 1:10:36for like three months worth of content.
- 1:10:38And I've still got loads of content to, it's like podcast
- 1:10:42Clips, essentially, right? But, like, I noticed with all
- 1:10:45the stuff that I've already promoted and released in this
- 1:10:48first month of the channel being sort of in existence, I've
- 1:10:52gotten like, know, Use a tool and this is that promotion on
- 1:10:55Twitter. Red are all the usual channels I
- 1:10:58could just does nothing. So I was like, well I'm not
- 1:10:59going to continue to waste my time doing this.
- 1:11:02If it's not going to kind of go anywhere, I'll stay I'll keep
- 1:11:05putting the stuff on YouTube and doing all the behind-the-scenes
- 1:11:09stuff that you have to do for you too.
- 1:11:10But I don't see the point of promoting it elsewhere, but the
- 1:11:13interesting thing is a lot of my favorite YouTubers.
- 1:11:17I've noticed, don't like, do next to no promotion at all.
- 1:11:21That, once in a blue moon, they might say, hey, here's A link
- 1:11:24but most of the time they don't bother and their videos just
- 1:11:27smash so makes me wonder like what's the best idea?
- 1:11:30Is it better to make MO is a better not to promote like who
- 1:11:32knows is think that the hardest part is getting your thirst 1000
- 1:11:36Subs. That's the hardest part of doing
- 1:11:39it and it's the most effective thing and it's something that
- 1:11:43the people have shown photographs and shit is using
- 1:11:46your fans as soon as you start getting subs and Views do the
- 1:11:49call, I'd say, hey if you're watching this and you're not
- 1:11:51okay, everybody listening to this.
- 1:11:52If you're watching this in Not subscribe to not following this
- 1:11:55podcast. Click the follow button, leave a
- 1:11:57rating and people say, oh it's they don't like it but you can I
- 1:12:01have a hair in my mouth? There we go.
- 1:12:04If you do that, call out. If you can see, there's always a
- 1:12:07spike that it's reason. Why.
- 1:12:09Dream, one of the biggest microfuge tube is he does that
- 1:12:11at the beginning of every single one of his videos because it's
- 1:12:14effective and you tell them, hey, if you have a friend, share
- 1:12:17this video, to the machine, this podcast to them, if you think
- 1:12:19they might like it, you know, get the word out there, they
- 1:12:22excuse your, and Debating. That's very effective is setting
- 1:12:25goals for your community. Say hey, let's see if we can get
- 1:12:28like up to like 20 Subs by by the end of February or 50 or 100
- 1:12:34or whatever goal you want to set.
- 1:12:35You know, it's he gets to this point, you're completely right.
- 1:12:39Like I changed my whole Mo with this because I used to be like
- 1:12:42really stubborn. As I know, I'll never do this.
- 1:12:44I hate YouTubers that do this blah blah blah and then I had a
- 1:12:48really long conversation with one of my streamer friends and
- 1:12:51he was like, listen, you just need to do this like just Bury
- 1:12:54your pride and just fucking do it because it will have an
- 1:12:57effect on, you know, because he said like if you want to grow,
- 1:13:00you need to do this and so I sucked up my pride.
- 1:13:03I changed my style and I started doing it and like, within the
- 1:13:07last, let's say two or three months.
- 1:13:11I've grown significant. I mean, it's small, I'll give it
- 1:13:14that. But, you know, I've gone for I
- 1:13:17think I was stuck on it for 80 subscribers for for like, at
- 1:13:20least three or four months. And now I've gone up to Close to
- 1:13:25five hundred and seventy subscribers at this point.
- 1:13:27And my goal for the year is 1000 subscribers.
- 1:13:31And then the second Channel, I'm trying to get to 100 and the
- 1:13:35third Channel, I'm trying to get to 50.
- 1:13:37So, I've set those goals for 2020 one, and it's slowly
- 1:13:41happening on the main Channel. I very very slowly.
- 1:13:44But, you know, it's all about consistency and pushing it.
- 1:13:47And like you said these the cta's, I do think that they're
- 1:13:50working, like, I'm experimenting a lot.
- 1:13:53So with the podcast, I always put the clip at the beginning
- 1:13:57and then with the podcast Clips, depending on the length of the
- 1:14:01clip is where I put the the promo.
- 1:14:04So if it's a really long clip, I'll put it at the beginning.
- 1:14:06If it's a really short kit clip, I'll put it straight at the end.
- 1:14:09Same with my music videos. I always put the clip at the
- 1:14:12end. Like I tried to do it in a way
- 1:14:14that makes sense where it's like, okay.
- 1:14:16You know, if you're here to watch music, you just want to
- 1:14:18see the music straightaway, right?
- 1:14:20Yeah, if you want to see a short pause.
- 1:14:24Us clip. You want to see the clip, you
- 1:14:25don't want to see a promo, but if it's a long clip, let's say
- 1:14:2910 minutes makes sense to put it at the beginning.
- 1:14:31Same with this full, the full podcast episodes.
- 1:14:34And I've also started kind of saying at the end of every
- 1:14:38podcast, like, you know, make sure the light shows, subscribe.
- 1:14:42I keep telling my audience to do this stuff.
- 1:14:45I don't know necessarily if they do it or not, but it's just good
- 1:14:48to get into the habit of this. And then once you start to grow
- 1:14:52an audience, like I've started to get People who are in my
- 1:14:54regular audience, who will sometimes, do what I ask them to
- 1:15:00do and are very reactive and do regularly watch the content so
- 1:15:04that it I think it is a case of being consistent.
- 1:15:08And yeah, like asking not be able to afraid to ask.
- 1:15:11I think that's the problem. You can't have that attitude of
- 1:15:14oh I shouldn't ask them. No ask them because otherwise
- 1:15:17people don't know what you want to do.
- 1:15:18They don't know that this is what you're trying to do.
- 1:15:21A lot of the times I would go and at mean I can speak From two
- 1:15:24points of view, he has, if you and as a Creator, I've like I've
- 1:15:27set and I've watched a YouTube video about.
- 1:15:29So I've seen it happen a few times where just start watching
- 1:15:32a chain of a person's YouTube videos.
- 1:15:34I know that this guy is really entertaining and, you know, you
- 1:15:36get so into the used to if you enjoy someone.
- 1:15:39Yeah, I'm subscribe. But then he did.
- 1:15:40Hey, go look if you're subscribed and if you're not
- 1:15:43nice girl, don't hey, I'm not. Let me, let me drop this guy a
- 1:15:45sub. Yeah, the other hand when I was
- 1:15:47dreaming like I was also as like I don't want to tell them to
- 1:15:51follow me. That's that's kind of scummy but
- 1:15:53I started if I see someone new in my chatter, hey, how's it
- 1:15:56going big Wang 69? You know.
- 1:15:58Hey, drop your follow my jaw dropping a follow.
- 1:16:00If you haven't yet, man. And it just works it, you you
- 1:16:04see that? You see it improve.
- 1:16:06You see the numbers, get bigger. If you do that and I would say,
- 1:16:10I would kill to see a ready, not really, I'm not a murderer, but
- 1:16:14I would metaphorically kill to see he do a rate, just see get
- 1:16:18some audience interaction for a podcast because that's something
- 1:16:21that's a good time. Demoralizing is if If you don't
- 1:16:24see any kind of, you know, I'm just going to sound like a weird
- 1:16:28way of saying, but proof that there's actually someone out
- 1:16:31there listening. And I mean, it's It's Tricky.
- 1:16:36The one thing I've noticed, like I, this is now this would be the
- 1:16:3969th episode of the podcast, and people people.
- 1:16:43Yeah, I know her. Hey, people always ask me like,
- 1:16:46oh, how many views have you got? How many subscribers if you got
- 1:16:49and then they sort of do that whole?
- 1:16:51Oh, okay. Like oh, you know, you don't
- 1:16:53have like 10. They don't have 1000 people
- 1:16:56listening every time, but the thing is, it's not about the
- 1:17:00numbers. It's about consistency, it's
- 1:17:03about how regularly are the same people watching, you know, like
- 1:17:07it's the thing is right now. I've been concerned that the
- 1:17:11fact that like, okay, one episode, let's say there's take
- 1:17:13YouTube sometimes one podcast or do 10 views.
- 1:17:16The next one or do 50 right. That to me is not good.
- 1:17:19That's a problem because it's like okay there's a bit of
- 1:17:23interest in This one because that person shed it to the
- 1:17:26audience, right? Or maybe it's a topic that's
- 1:17:28interesting. Then the next one comes and
- 1:17:30people aren't interested as much.
- 1:17:32And I'm trying to look at that community and go.
- 1:17:35I'm trying to build a community that will tune in every time
- 1:17:39because it's more about building the brand, it's not about trying
- 1:17:41to, you know, appeal to certain subjects.
- 1:17:44Like it's good to sort of throw stuff out there, experiment, try
- 1:17:48things. But, you know, the main thing
- 1:17:51you should be focusing on is building that.
- 1:17:53Brand building a community of people that will regularly come
- 1:17:56to see you and we'll listen to anything excuse me that you do
- 1:18:00because they are interested in you specifically.
- 1:18:03Yeah. It's something like, oh wow.
- 1:18:06Sorry I just went on to our podcast because I wanted to
- 1:18:09check if the theory that I have a lot of it is naming your
- 1:18:14episodes. Like what you like because he
- 1:18:16think names and thumbnails people underestimate how
- 1:18:19important that is. Yeah, because that's the first
- 1:18:22thing that someone sees that's why I always Try and get to like
- 1:18:25something is something that it's at least an interesting name for
- 1:18:29an episode. That's why I like when we name
- 1:18:31it we always try and get something decent.
- 1:18:33Oddly something attention-grabbing so that
- 1:18:36because that's what would compel someone to click if they just
- 1:18:39see, they know 50 podcast in the recommends.
- 1:18:42I need to make sure that ours Stand Out. - the name is name,
- 1:18:46the name is attention-grabbing. It's okay.
- 1:18:48Listen. Yes, II.
- 1:18:49See this thing called alien solar passwords, I'm gonna click
- 1:18:53on it, that's Sounds that sounds cool or I'm you know he's yeah
- 1:18:58it's that's why I like, oh sorry, I'm seeing eye, pisode
- 1:19:03idols. And looking back, they all make
- 1:19:06me, you know, disappointed in myself that that we thought of
- 1:19:11them. But on the other hand, I I love
- 1:19:13them a lot. I think it, I think it's a very
- 1:19:16good point. He touching you, I've had this
- 1:19:17conversation with many of my friends online and, you know, I
- 1:19:23think I can make a case for it for either of them, you know,
- 1:19:26like I always keep my podcast titles, conventional that they
- 1:19:31just have the podcast, the number, the person, just because
- 1:19:35I like it that way. I know that I could, I did try
- 1:19:38when the very beginning having like okay still Xeon and then I
- 1:19:44would list all the topics but I just felt like it was less
- 1:19:46effective and I just didn't like it.
- 1:19:49So instead I put all that information in the descriptions
- 1:19:52of episode and I experiment with hashtags and video tags and so
- 1:19:57on and so on, right? Because my main thing is that
- 1:20:01the podcast should be the draw, like the people, you know,
- 1:20:05eventually we'll get into the idea of our, the Christian rude
- 1:20:08podcast. I need to tune into that.
- 1:20:09That's something I need to tune into this is, you know what I
- 1:20:12mean? So that's why I do it in that
- 1:20:13way. It's intended for that audience
- 1:20:15but I totally understand where the podcast like yourself, like
- 1:20:19the one that you've got, the draw is the titles.
- 1:20:21The topics like that's going to draw the People in and I think
- 1:20:25there's just different strategies to this thing and I'd
- 1:20:28like to eventually have like a consistent Port, like be able to
- 1:20:31read and recognize a name in the comments, you know, see how that
- 1:20:34that person has been here for like forever?
- 1:20:36Like right, here we go but but I'm glad you know, it's
- 1:20:38sometimes you just need to either.
- 1:20:41I mean, the point of our podcast is being, you know, it's a, it's
- 1:20:44a comedy podcast. It's supposed to be about
- 1:20:46outlandish, so but I completely understand the, your perspective
- 1:20:49of the, you know, trying to, you know, build that basically build
- 1:20:52the brand, people need to look and see.
- 1:20:53Oh yeah. Yeah, this I know this podcast
- 1:20:55just by looking at it but here's the thing.
- 1:20:57Like to your point before the thing that I really spend a lot
- 1:21:02of time on, is that information that's provided to give people a
- 1:21:05reason to like why to check it out and the thumbnails.
- 1:21:09So two things that I really do all the time as I try to come up
- 1:21:14with like funny sort of thumbnails for Clips, funny
- 1:21:18images that are connected to the to the clips and subjects and
- 1:21:22stuff for the In episode the main podcast videos I will, you
- 1:21:30know, include either, you know, video still of that person plus
- 1:21:35something connected to them, or just cool images of them from
- 1:21:39Instagram. So to give an example.
- 1:21:41My previous guest Chris Watters is, is a guy that has a business
- 1:21:47that does like treasure hunts and scavenger hunts for adults,
- 1:21:50right? So I had a still of him from the
- 1:21:52video. And he had like a really cool
- 1:21:55background of all the stuff that he uses all the props in the
- 1:21:57background and then the image to the left is like something that
- 1:22:00he's designed some sort of like you know parchment or something
- 1:22:05like that and I put that all together and then at the bottom
- 1:22:07it's got the name podcast, episode number, all of that
- 1:22:12stuff. So it's like an interesting
- 1:22:13engaging thing and it's like all maybe I want to check this out
- 1:22:17because that guy looks interesting and the same with
- 1:22:20Spotify or I use anchors the Platform.
- 1:22:24But I started uploading thumbnail images, which is
- 1:22:27something that you should do. If you have a podcast by the
- 1:22:29way, try to have creative thumbnail images, both for new
- 1:22:34listeners and current listeners because it gives people sort of
- 1:22:39a reason to click because the, you know, the images are
- 1:22:42different and there's different topics and stuff.
- 1:22:43So there's more of a draw like every episode is different.
- 1:22:47It's basic stuff. But like yeah I totally agree
- 1:22:50with you like you've got to either because there's different
- 1:22:53Aunt people on different sides of the fence.
- 1:22:57Wow, I'm terrible words today. I do apologize problem, it's not
- 1:23:01normally my problem but today is so there's two arguments in the
- 1:23:06content creator Community like our titles more important or our
- 1:23:10images more important and I think both are important
- 1:23:13obviously, but I think it depends for individual creators
- 1:23:17sometimes one or the other is more important.
- 1:23:22I think just naturally on Yeah, like the thumbnails are always
- 1:23:26going to be the draw but to be honest, a lot of my favorite
- 1:23:29YouTubers, I'll see that the title, and I'm more interested
- 1:23:33in that. And if anything, the thumbnails
- 1:23:35irritate me because it's just some generic picture of them
- 1:23:37going where they've just taken a picture of themselves doing
- 1:23:40that, some shocked face and stuff and it's mostly just click
- 1:23:44bait. So you have to know the Creator
- 1:23:46to know if it's genuine or just click bait.
- 1:23:48Bullshit. Yeah, but you know, I think you
- 1:23:51can make a fair case for both To be honest.
- 1:23:54And I think it's something that all content creators should be
- 1:23:56paying attention to, you know, like I said, I've had a bit of a
- 1:23:59turnaround. I used to be very stubborn with
- 1:24:01these things. Now, I try as much as I can, you
- 1:24:04know, I'm not a designer by any means, but I try to make the
- 1:24:07thumbnails as good as possible and I always try to experiment,
- 1:24:10like I told you before with the clips and where I put them,
- 1:24:14that's mostly for experimentation and because I'm
- 1:24:16trying to kind of maximize where I think people are most likely
- 1:24:22to, you know, That and then acts on that call to action, you
- 1:24:28know, like I think for example, if I were to put those subscribe
- 1:24:32promos at the beginning of a music video, I think that's
- 1:24:35going to cause more people to click off then to click on.
- 1:24:41But if it's me and then they will really listen to the song
- 1:24:43they've enjoyed it and then they can make the decision, they do.
- 1:24:47You want to see more of a say exactly?
- 1:24:50Moving it forward. So you occasionally, I'm on
- 1:24:54Twitch. When will you be streaming to
- 1:24:55get in the future? Perhaps, maybe you thinking of
- 1:24:59doing like a live podcast episode, like what the plans for
- 1:25:02twitch with you? I've been I have been thinking
- 1:25:06about starting doing your podcast live but on the other
- 1:25:09hand, that's something on the oven, like it's something that
- 1:25:12you need to think about because I've seen a lot of people do
- 1:25:15like, patreon tears where you can listen in live instead.
- 1:25:18Yeah, you know, you need to it, we need to balance.
- 1:25:20Okay, how do I want to future-proof the podcast?
- 1:25:23Case it gets big so it can, you know, Act of more.
- 1:25:26It's like an Ever bigger reward for someone who chooses to
- 1:25:29support on patreon or do I want to try it now and see if that
- 1:25:33gets more. But I plan to, I've, I've
- 1:25:37stopped dreaming a little bit for a while now, as I started
- 1:25:41getting some other things in order.
- 1:25:42But I plan to start, pick it up again and start going back at it
- 1:25:46again. Added at decent Force soon like
- 1:25:49you within the next week or so I took a trip that's like I'm As I
- 1:25:53said before we started, I took a trip this weekend and it's given
- 1:25:57me back a lot of my motivation. Like I saw some old friends you
- 1:26:00know, it gave me back a lot of motivation but with the fit back
- 1:26:04in my steps, I want to, I'm going to I've already planned a
- 1:26:07few stuff for YouTube as well. Like I have some things in the
- 1:26:13works now that if my motivation just holds because that's
- 1:26:16something that's a lot of people.
- 1:26:19I know struggle with it too. It's just you know keeping the
- 1:26:21motivation up and keeping it, right?
- 1:26:24As long as I can keep that motivation and drive.
- 1:26:26I'm going to start screaming again within the week that
- 1:26:28within a week. Not in this, maybe not in this
- 1:26:31week but baby, I'm saying within the week.
- 1:26:33I'm going to start streaming again.
- 1:26:34Within got one of these, get these YouTube things started.
- 1:26:38I'm still working on some scripts and then I need to edit
- 1:26:40it which I've tried to make a bit more higher end on time.
- 1:26:45So I'm it's not going to be you know like on the best level but
- 1:26:49I want to make decent content as well as the trash that I usually
- 1:26:52throw on my channel. Oh, there's a good one, which is
- 1:26:56objectively garbage. But I bet it's still great and I
- 1:26:59love it. Now, I think like over time,
- 1:27:02these things get like perfected. Anyway, like I've decided to
- 1:27:06upload Less on my main Channel now and I'm going to take more
- 1:27:10breaks. I'm going to kind of, because
- 1:27:12I've been uploading pretty much every yeah.
- 1:27:15Every single day for like Six to eight months at this point and
- 1:27:20I've seen a lot online about how that's ineffective both for
- 1:27:24streaming and for YouTube. I think it depends on the
- 1:27:26Creator but there's a lot of content that I've produced now
- 1:27:30which I think needs breathing space and I don't think it's
- 1:27:36necessary to stream everyday and upload every single day.
- 1:27:40And I think that if anything, that can actually be harmful for
- 1:27:44your channel by doing that, So I think that, you know, is worth
- 1:27:50taking that time, perfecting that content perfect in those
- 1:27:52streams and doing them like now. And again, like for instance
- 1:27:55with me and streaming. I do this thing now where I
- 1:27:58stream on Via restream on YouTube twitch and D live at the
- 1:28:03same time and I do it sort of like every week or every two
- 1:28:06weeks, as I sort of like an AMA / discussion thing, and it can
- 1:28:10go up to like three hours sometimes and that does really
- 1:28:13well. It does good numbers for me, but
- 1:28:15the key is that I don't do it often.
- 1:28:17Often. And it's like one of the only
- 1:28:20opportunities for my audience to interact with me in real time.
- 1:28:25Because before I was doing all the time, streaming, like every
- 1:28:27single day and I sort of realized that the fact that I do
- 1:28:30this. So often means that like there's
- 1:28:34less incentive for people to actually drop in.
- 1:28:37Whereas, if it's not often, there's more incentive for
- 1:28:40people to drop in this is basic supply and demand.
- 1:28:42It's blowing around if you give too much Supply to to little the
- 1:28:45man, they'll get bored. But anyway, It's a balance
- 1:28:48because we give too little Supply will move onto that thing
- 1:28:50that if you've just enough Supply to keep them interested,
- 1:28:53then you'll keep getting the numbers.
- 1:28:56Absolutely. And I have a question, have you
- 1:28:58ever thought about two new branching out to other other
- 1:29:01types of media? Like the biggest one I can think
- 1:29:03of right now is gaming, for example.
- 1:29:06Yeah, I just don't have the money to do gaming.
- 1:29:08I've done retro-gaming, it's not the only thing I can do, but I
- 1:29:12just don't have the money to do it.
- 1:29:14Unfortunately, I would love to, but yeah.
- 1:29:17Yeah, just don't have the money, that's something like that.
- 1:29:20Piracy not that I would have it. You it pirate.
- 1:29:23It's not even that date, like, I would need a gaming PC, or we
- 1:29:26need a proper television. I would need a lot of different
- 1:29:29things, like it's not just the games early.
- 1:29:32I mean, do I really? I really would dude?
- 1:29:34Like honestly think like the biggest, the biggest game on the
- 1:29:38on in the world right now. Well, maybe on a more boats for
- 1:29:41a while was Minecraft, and that doesn't really need about doing
- 1:29:45it to trust with my game. My game con, So my PC can't even
- 1:29:49handle current games. Like okay, for example, I tried
- 1:29:52to do among us while on Twitch, I tried to like play the game
- 1:30:00stream it, right? And that just completely fucked
- 1:30:03up like I just it went super slow, it didn't work.
- 1:30:06Like I just can't do that, I can't do more than games with my
- 1:30:09current setup and I've just learned to accept it and, you
- 1:30:13know, one day I will be able to do these things.
- 1:30:15And I've said this to my audience, like every Every time
- 1:30:18they ask me like why don't you do this, why don't you get, you
- 1:30:20know, improve this equipment like blah blah blah.
- 1:30:23I'm like one day I will when I have that money when I'm
- 1:30:25learning from this. I will always reinvest it as I
- 1:30:28have done already. You know?
- 1:30:30These headphones were a gift from a viewer.
- 1:30:34Shout-out to Kirk my main man SoCal.
- 1:30:38This microphone here was a donation from steel Z, fellow
- 1:30:43twitch streamer, so it's like, it does happen from time to
- 1:30:46time. But it's a gradual thing.
- 1:30:49It takes time. One day I will be doing this but
- 1:30:51right now it's just not possible.
- 1:30:54Yeah I understand and it goes I might bump my main content was
- 1:30:59gaming like if I streamed on Twitch it was for games and I'm
- 1:31:02fortunate that mean she's a bit old but I have my own who I
- 1:31:08should be very careful that much my rig you know she's still
- 1:31:11going. Yeah and and she so computers
- 1:31:15off him and and that's that's it.
- 1:31:17Okay, that's I mean I was drilled into me.
- 1:31:20Um, yeah, she treats me, well, she still working, I want I've
- 1:31:23got I plan to upgrade but because all of my parts are so
- 1:31:27old and because it's a desktop at this point, if I want to
- 1:31:30upgrade one thing, I need to replace everything and it's
- 1:31:33going to cost around somewhere between 5,000 and 7,000 US
- 1:31:37dollars to replace everything with it with good parts.
- 1:31:41And I don't want to buy a low-end rig.
- 1:31:43I want to buy something that if I buy it.
- 1:31:45Now it's going to last me for five or six.
- 1:31:47Six years. So don't have to worry about it
- 1:31:49again. But now I need to save up all
- 1:31:52that money which is easier said than done.
- 1:31:58I think that's the key, isn't it?
- 1:31:59Is believing like I've had that shift recently where I've
- 1:32:02started to believe and you know, something funny actually which I
- 1:32:06wanna throw out right now which I think is relevant to what
- 1:32:10we're talking about there. I had a hater on Tik-Tok the
- 1:32:13other day and this isn't really to do with the hate aspect, I
- 1:32:18just found it interesting because This person was getting
- 1:32:22annoyed, you know, they were saying all your trash, or this
- 1:32:25your that right? And I found it funny.
- 1:32:27I was posting about it online, I was just having fun with it,
- 1:32:29right? And they gave up like they
- 1:32:32haven't actually messaged in the past two days and they've been
- 1:32:35like frantically going on. Like I had like 35 take comments
- 1:32:39on from them on one video and I said to them I several times I
- 1:32:42was like why are you so obsessed?
- 1:32:44Like why why do you care? You know if you don't like what
- 1:32:47I do just don't watch. Like I don't understand, they
- 1:32:50were They literally said they were trying to get a rise out of
- 1:32:53me and they said it's working. I was like, well, you just don't
- 1:32:56understand me then because I'm just I'm laughing at you.
- 1:33:01But that seems to be love haters like, right so much because it's
- 1:33:04just fun to because it's like, if I get a somebody then I mean,
- 1:33:07I haven't really gotten any in the creative space, but just I
- 1:33:10arrived nephew and I always try to challenge them because I was
- 1:33:14bullied when I was younger and that I'm, it's yeah, it sucks.
- 1:33:17But I'm glad it happened. Because my, my roast game is on
- 1:33:20Points. So I always try to challenge
- 1:33:23them because I know and the best thing is he done?
- 1:33:25Tried and drop them. You let them finish whatever
- 1:33:27they trying to say and then you clap back and within not you
- 1:33:29need to make sure that they're just the first one is with
- 1:33:31enough Force to destroy them and as long as you can do that,
- 1:33:35don't get eaten. That's advice.
- 1:33:37Don't ever get angry at a hater to anyone don't ever because
- 1:33:41they didn't do anything they want.
- 1:33:42I didn't really want to focus on the hate aspect.
- 1:33:44The reason that I brought it up was that like, I'm sorry this.
- 1:33:47No. No.
- 1:33:48But like I understand like It's something that all of us content
- 1:33:52creators deal with, it's just one of those things and that's
- 1:33:55what I mean. Like I didn't bring it up like
- 1:33:56to talk about it because at the end of the day like yeah we all
- 1:33:59get haters. So what the reason that I'm
- 1:34:01bringing it up is that you know if there's apathy in your in
- 1:34:06your content creation, you know? Like that's no one cares, that's
- 1:34:10the worst thing. So having haters suggests that
- 1:34:13you're actually doing something right, because you're actually
- 1:34:15getting a response from people and that's why I found this
- 1:34:18particular hater interesting because They kept, every time I
- 1:34:22kept releasing a new video, they kept throwing the hate, and I
- 1:34:25was like, so, this person wants me to stop essentially, but I'm
- 1:34:28not stopping and therefore, that bothers them and it just it.
- 1:34:33If I found that really interesting and I use them in
- 1:34:37order to create content, like I got content ideas from that
- 1:34:42exchange, and it makes me wonder about just in general.
- 1:34:46When you're chasing these goals, a lot of you get a lot of hate.
- 1:34:50Because when people see that you're actually doing well, that
- 1:34:55you're being creative, people reacting positively glow.
- 1:34:58Like a lot of people that comment on my Tick Tock videos,
- 1:35:01are being really positive. Like, you know, I really like
- 1:35:04this song, well done Bob lot, right?
- 1:35:07And you know, I do this for fun, like I do this because I want to
- 1:35:11get somewhere with it. You know, I want podcast to do
- 1:35:13well, I want my content creating to become my job basically, but
- 1:35:19I do do this. For enjoyment for fun.
- 1:35:22And I think the more that you do that and the longer that you do
- 1:35:27this, the more refined that your content becomes.
- 1:35:30Like, if you go back and you watch the First episodes of the
- 1:35:32podcast, I wouldn't say it was totally bad, because I had some
- 1:35:36podcasting experience before, but I wasn't as confident.
- 1:35:40For example, interviewing people as I am.
- 1:35:42Now, I wasn't as confident carrying a conversation for an
- 1:35:45hour. Two hours, three hours as I am
- 1:35:47now it's just time. It's just practice constantly.
- 1:35:50Just doing doing doing doing doing and through that time, you
- 1:35:54figure certain things out, you think I like, oh, I can tweak
- 1:35:57this and it'll be better. I can do this and I'll be
- 1:35:59better. I can try this content and it
- 1:36:00will be good. Like, for instance comedy, I've
- 1:36:03never considered myself particularly funny and I still
- 1:36:06don't, but I have posted some sort of Comedy clips here and
- 1:36:10there and people have responded well to it.
- 1:36:13And I thought, okay, so this is another Avenue for me.
- 1:36:16Potentially, you know, if an idea comes, it's something I can
- 1:36:19try and that's basically it Why I brought the hater thing?
- 1:36:22I think it's from whatever fate feedback you're getting good or
- 1:36:27bad. It rep it suggests that you
- 1:36:29should keep going, keep trying because you're going to go far
- 1:36:32with it. Basically.
- 1:36:33I mean any publicity is good publicity as they say I was
- 1:36:37exactly true. But I mean in this case.
- 1:36:38Yeah you need the FAA to use them.
- 1:36:41Yeah no I actually it's out of them.
- 1:36:43I made a made a hate video where I basically just mock them, not
- 1:36:47them specifically, but it was that my response to haters or
- 1:36:50something. And I've been waiting for the
- 1:36:52past, like, two days for this person to comment I'm like, wow.
- 1:36:55Like I'm always tempted to tag them in the video and be like,
- 1:36:58hey, I made a little video for you.
- 1:37:01I just can't, I can't be bothered anyway.
- 1:37:05Yeah, I want to ask you a bit more of a serious question.
- 1:37:11What's the biggest life lesson? You've learned so far?
- 1:37:16Um, I've visited something. There's something that I've
- 1:37:20answered a few times. It's something I've do things
- 1:37:24that I've learned from my late grandfather is one thing.
- 1:37:29Is you miss all the shots, you don't take, you know, it's it,
- 1:37:33you can't win by not trying, you know, whenever there's a bit of
- 1:37:37Eliza gave me is if you ever stuck with the decision and it's
- 1:37:41of it's like both outcomes either equally good or equally
- 1:37:45bad. That was the one that's going to
- 1:37:47leave with the base story to tell because in the end that's
- 1:37:51what you're doing. You'll make every choice you
- 1:37:52make you making some more memories, you know.
- 1:37:54So they try and get one if you can if both have equal weight
- 1:37:59and you can't decide him to do choose one for this story.
- 1:38:02And the second one is you don't make rum and Coke without lemon
- 1:38:06in it. Those are the two pieces of Life
- 1:38:08advice. He left me with and I'm not a
- 1:38:11big drinker but I have to agree with him and yeah, it's just
- 1:38:15it's just the Nothing is, yeah, there's actually a lot, another
- 1:38:19think about it. That's the biggest one.
- 1:38:23You can't delete your, you know, your indecisiveness paralyzer.
- 1:38:27You need to learn to make decisions and I say this because
- 1:38:30I'm a very indecisive person but in the end you're either going
- 1:38:34to miss out or you if you don't make the choice, you will miss
- 1:38:38out and don't be afraid to make the big choices to make to take
- 1:38:43the leap, you know, because what's the worst that can Let's
- 1:38:46say, use the classic example. Don't be afraid to ask a girl
- 1:38:49out. The worst that can happen is
- 1:38:50rejection and every single person on the planet has been
- 1:38:54rejected and they've gotten over it.
- 1:38:57I've been rejected, I don't want to make assumptions but I assume
- 1:38:59you've been rejected so many times many times.
- 1:39:02It's, it's something, it's something happens and, yeah, it
- 1:39:05sucks for like a week and then you get over it.
- 1:39:07You know, you can you go for a pint of the boys and then you
- 1:39:10move on. You find the next gold to
- 1:39:12reject, you know, you can you repeat that side?
- 1:39:16Go, you repeat that cycle because because he's everything
- 1:39:20I've talked with someone before and they, they told me that they
- 1:39:25are lonely, you know? They, they they feel they need,
- 1:39:29they really want, companionship know, here is the thing about
- 1:39:32the afraid to go and approach. Someone you're never going to
- 1:39:37meet someone. If you don't take that first
- 1:39:39step, you're never going to be able to talk to attend to get a
- 1:39:42girlfriend. If you don't ask, if you don't
- 1:39:44ask out, if you did, Is it then say yes, I want to be with this
- 1:39:47girl but you know I'm afraid to ask God because it might get
- 1:39:49rejected. So let's we've all been
- 1:39:51rejected. That's life.
- 1:39:52You can tell people one day. Yes, this go rejected this shit
- 1:39:56out of me when I was young. I want to chime in on this real
- 1:39:58quick because it's actually relevant to my life right now.
- 1:40:01So I've been single now for like, two or three years,
- 1:40:05something like that and that points, you know, especially
- 1:40:07because of lockdown, I felt very lonely and like, oh, maybe I'm
- 1:40:11gonna die alone and Bool this crap, right?
- 1:40:14But it's just nonsense at the end of the The most important
- 1:40:18thing I think above all not just you know, chatting to girls and
- 1:40:23make, you know, reaching out. I think it's also really
- 1:40:27essential to make sure you're actually happy in your own life
- 1:40:31and like so many people both girls that have rejected me have
- 1:40:35said this to me, friends, family, you name it, have always
- 1:40:39said, the same thing which is or when you least expect it, when
- 1:40:42you're not looking, that's when, you know, someone will.
- 1:40:45Come, right? And first, I kind of scoffed at
- 1:40:48that and as I go, yeah, yeah, whatever you know.
- 1:40:51It's never going to happen for me.
- 1:40:52I'm going to die alone, but I've actually realized I was going on
- 1:40:57a walk the other day just like a morning walk that I was gone and
- 1:41:01I was just in that moment. I was just so happy and I was
- 1:41:06like, you know what, I don't need someone to be happy, like
- 1:41:09it would be nice but I don't need it anymore.
- 1:41:12I felt for so many years for so long.
- 1:41:14I felt like I needed another Person to be happy, but I don't,
- 1:41:18I can live without this. And that is what you need.
- 1:41:23That's what you need to Aspire to get, to that point because
- 1:41:25that's when you become most attractive to people because
- 1:41:28Suddenly It's reverse psychology, and when you're not
- 1:41:32looking, you get it. It's like everything else.
- 1:41:34It's like, okay. Yeah, sure.
- 1:41:36I want to be rich and famous, and money and all this crap,
- 1:41:38right? But if you're frantically trying
- 1:41:40to get it, you're not going to get it.
- 1:41:42But if you're like, okay, yeah, I'll take them leave it.
- 1:41:45Yeah, I'll work. Work towards it that.
- 1:41:46Yeah. You have to work towards, you
- 1:41:48have to put the steps in place, but then you sit back and relax
- 1:41:51and just enjoy life, and things will happen.
- 1:41:54Manifestation be happy, focus on getting happy and the people
- 1:42:00will come to you. Whether it's boys, girls,
- 1:42:01whatever you're into. That will come to you but you
- 1:42:04need to focus on yourself. First and foremost, make sure
- 1:42:08you're happy and everything else for cynical when I say people
- 1:42:12call me cynical and I said I'm going to die alone but they must
- 1:42:14understand what I mean. I was like, yeah, I'm gonna die
- 1:42:17alone. I don't mean.
- 1:42:18I know I'm sad. I'm never gonna find some.
- 1:42:20I mean, I don't need someone. I've, if I die alone, I'll be
- 1:42:24happy. I've learned to live with myself
- 1:42:26and be happy with the person that I am.
- 1:42:28If I find a girlfriend, you know what?
- 1:42:30That's that'll be. That'll be awesome.
- 1:42:32But they don't. I'm not, I'll I'm not gonna say
- 1:42:35no to that, but, you know, if I don't need it, you know, I can
- 1:42:38live my life with myself and be happy because it's something
- 1:42:43that people lack, it's being the ability.
- 1:42:45To be happy with just themselves.
- 1:42:48That's key. And I think many people are
- 1:42:50actually discovering that right now.
- 1:42:51The low, I see loads of single people going like, oh, it's
- 1:42:54terrible, just terrible. And I feel for them because, you
- 1:42:57know, I've, I've been there, I felt that.
- 1:42:59But like, now I'm at the point where I don't feel like that
- 1:43:01anymore, like I actually feel genuinely happy and I think it's
- 1:43:05yes. Because of that realization.
- 1:43:07It's because, you know what? Yeah, I like myself.
- 1:43:09I like, who I am? I like that.
- 1:43:12I'm constantly working myself to get better and I can be happy.
- 1:43:15The without having to have people around me.
- 1:43:19You know, it's amazing, amazing feeling when you get to that
- 1:43:23point and I think a lot of people need to be working
- 1:43:25towards that. Like once you, once you get that
- 1:43:28it's like a feeling of almost like Liberation in a sense it's
- 1:43:32like, ah okay it's good. Life is good.
- 1:43:35I'm happy and like, you know, when you're happy, people people
- 1:43:40want to be around you. When you're miserable, no one
- 1:43:42wants to be around you. So, same reason that when you
- 1:43:44break up with someone, And you're miserable suddenly like
- 1:43:47no one's around. No one gives a shit about your
- 1:43:49problems because you know, people don't want to be
- 1:43:52surrounded by negativity. They want positivity.
- 1:43:54As fucked as it sounds, you might have a few genuine friends
- 1:43:57that will actually care and be there for you, but most people
- 1:44:00won't care and you shouldn't hold that against them.
- 1:44:02It's just they probably have their own shit to deal with and
- 1:44:05they just don't want to deal with your shit and be brought
- 1:44:07down further as harsh as it sounds, but it's the truth and
- 1:44:12anyway, that's just how people on.
- 1:44:14Yeah. And as we draw things to a close
- 1:44:17for today, do you have any sort of final thoughts or upcoming
- 1:44:20projects? You'd like to share with us?
- 1:44:25I feel like if I say if I actually say, hey, this is what
- 1:44:28I'm working on now. Then I'm going to be locked in
- 1:44:30and I'm not gonna have a choice, but gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna
- 1:44:34throw some stuff onto YouTube. I'm gonna start making nice
- 1:44:38stuff. I'm gonna start screaming again
- 1:44:39because that's there's things that I want to do.
- 1:44:41I'm going to finish this fucking story even if it kills me.
- 1:44:46I've been working on this thing for two years now and it's
- 1:44:49honestly, it's been too long. It, I need to finish it.
- 1:44:53I have had two, I've taken way too many breaks, there's only
- 1:44:56one break that is Justified, and that's when my grandfather
- 1:44:59passed, the rest of them are just me being lazy.
- 1:45:02So I'm going to stop doing that. I'm gonna finish it.
- 1:45:06I'm gonna I'm gonna try and get it published.
- 1:45:08I'm gonna fail at it and I'm going to write the next story.
- 1:45:11That's the that and I'm gonna I'm gonna get my degree this
- 1:45:15year. That's that's the plan of action
- 1:45:16for this year. You'll do it.
