- 1:12SPEAKER_03: Either romantic Murph or we've done it a couple of times as well, or family, Dylan, because you've been married a long time now, so yeah, we go with a family one.
- 1:22SPEAKER_03: As I said, if you're watching on YouTube, you'll see that War Skip is absent.
- 1:26SPEAKER_03: A well-deserved break of turkey for him, Dom, and little Sophia.
- 1:30SPEAKER_03: Wonder what he's gonna come back with.
- 1:32SPEAKER_03: We'll check the teeth and hair.
- 1:34SPEAKER_03: He's been wearing a cap a lot lately, hasn't he?
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: He's been getting the old skin fade, but he wears a hat.
- 1:38SPEAKER_03: Before we went out, he said he was gonna go for the crew cut, didn't he?
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: And he didn't do it.
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: I bowed it.
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: He said that to me the week before we were supposed to go out in Newcastle.
- 1:45SPEAKER_01: He's like, I'm shaving all off.
- 1:46SPEAKER_01: I was like, There's no way one, you won't do it, and two, your missus would not let you cut.
- 1:50SPEAKER_01: Like, I think John would be alright with it.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: Do you think?
- 1:53SPEAKER_03: I don't sleep.
- 1:54SPEAKER_01: You think he'd pull it off?
- 1:55SPEAKER_01: I think you could pull it off, aye.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: Nice.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: He looks well when he because he obviously tells you.
- 2:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he lost a bell last Sunday.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: No, he was a bit grey, wouldn't he?
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: Oh he went salmon t shirt.
- 2:09SPEAKER_03: I'm not doing a well, maybe I'm a promotion.
- 2:11SPEAKER_03: Dry claw, get it on them pits.
- 2:13SPEAKER_03: You know, Chris Brown from under the kosh, yeah, puts it on his forehead.
- 2:17SPEAKER_03: Does he?
- 2:18SPEAKER_03: And he said to me the other day, um he likes with we have messages about what he had to buy, but he said that well last pod with my pink salmon y uh underarm at hop.
- 2:28SPEAKER_03: He said it was outrageously bad.
- 2:31SPEAKER_03: Said I was on there to talk about gangsters in London and that.
- 2:34SPEAKER_03: Like, thought of dumb.
- 2:35SPEAKER_03: As for little Sophia, do you know Tom Skip's Little In?
- 2:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 2:40SPEAKER_03: So my Zara was born, and their little was due about six months later, but she was prematurely born.
- 2:48SPEAKER_03: So we've just had Zara, and I've told Skip, I went, we've had her, and he went, funny that uh Dom's on the way over, there's complications to the the ho the hospital I was in.
- 3:00SPEAKER_03: I've literally walked out the door to get a bit of air.
- 3:03SPEAKER_03: Massive hospital.
- 3:05SPEAKER_03: Dom's next door.
- 3:07SPEAKER_03: So Dom was the first person to meet Zara when he was born aye, and then everything was fine with Sophia.
- 3:12SPEAKER_03: Stayed in there about three or four months, and uh right as rain now, absolute lunatic.
- 3:17SPEAKER_03: So I so you might have heard the other voice, and if you're watching, you can certainly see someone else.
- 3:24SPEAKER_03: So in his place, we have Carl United, club record holder of outfield appearances with not bad, this Murphy, you know.
- 3:33SPEAKER_03: 417.
- 3:35SPEAKER_03: Is that right?
- 3:37SPEAKER_03: Colin McMeneman would correct us on everything in total.
- 3:41SPEAKER_04: We'll see what you get to in total.
- 3:43SPEAKER_03: Um so Wikipedia doesn't have subs, it doesn't count sub appearances.
- 3:49SPEAKER_03: 12 years of service, a little bit more for you so far.
- 3:58SPEAKER_03: Listen, you a playoff final winning goal scorer, a title winning clinching goal scorer, and a scorer of the only goal at Wembley in a 1-0 win over Brentford in the St.
- 4:11SPEAKER_03: John's.
- 4:12SPEAKER_03: I will say that St.
- 4:13SPEAKER_03: John's campaign trophy.
- 4:16SPEAKER_02: Peter Murphy, welcome.
- 4:17SPEAKER_02: Thanks very much.
- 4:18SPEAKER_02: Thanks very much for it.
- 4:20SPEAKER_04: By the way, yes.
- 4:22SPEAKER_04: No, no, uh you're doing brilliant.
- 4:24SPEAKER_04: Oh, thank you very much.
- 4:25SPEAKER_04: Excellent.
- 4:25SPEAKER_04: All the uh local sponsorship, the places we're we're seeing you're produced out of.
- 4:30SPEAKER_03: It's absolutely brilliant.
- 4:31SPEAKER_03: Thank you very much.
- 4:32SPEAKER_03: And a quick one, can you tell?
- 4:34SPEAKER_03: Dylan wouldn't have heard it, and some viewers would, but some viewers wouldn't.
- 4:37SPEAKER_03: Tell us that little story about that Johnson's paint weekend where you've hit the winner and a 1-0 win, but it wasn't all smooth sailing that weekend, was it?
- 4:45SPEAKER_04: No, it wasn't because my boy, my son, uh Oscar, who's now 15, it's 15 years ago, so he was born the day before.
- 4:54SPEAKER_04: So uh my wife Lisa had Oscar in the morning.
- 4:57SPEAKER_04: I missed the coach to go down to the game.
- 5:00SPEAKER_04: Um I thought I'd be able to get a bit of rest, but then Greg Abbott was no, no, no, you need to get on the train, get on the train down.
- 5:06SPEAKER_04: So I got on the train to travel down to London.
- 5:10SPEAKER_04: Uh put me head down trying to fall asleep because my wife was through labour all through the night, tried to fall asleep on the four-seater, somebody gets on, wakes me up, and says, That's my seat, you need to get up.
- 5:20SPEAKER_04: I was like, You're kidding me.
- 5:23SPEAKER_04: So I got up and then there was another family of four sitting on another table, and they uh the the dad got up, says here, you can sit here at the old Karlov chairs as well.
- 5:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 5:33SPEAKER_04: I was like, Oh, I can't I can't do that to the family.
- 5:35SPEAKER_04: I said, No, no, you sit down there.
- 5:36SPEAKER_04: So I ended up sitting, lying down, sitting down outside the toilets, travelling down to play in a cup final.
- 5:44SPEAKER_04: A new dad, yeah.
- 5:45SPEAKER_04: And then uh next next morning I got sorry, I got down to the hotel.
- 5:48SPEAKER_04: Everybody, all the players had finished.
- 5:50SPEAKER_04: I had me dinner, went straight to bed, got up the next morning, ready for the the final, and then Lisa, who just had Oscar, who wasn't even named at that time, to be to be honest, she travelled down to the game as well, which is sh some trooper.
- 6:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you're joking.
- 6:04SPEAKER_04: I know she came down, yeah.
- 6:05SPEAKER_04: And then uh when we were travelling to the game, did you know she was travelling?
- 6:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:10SPEAKER_04: So then uh the players on my when we're going to the game are going, Are you gonna do a babeto if you score?
- 6:15SPEAKER_04: I hadn't got a clue what a babeto is, but it's the rocking the drug, yeah, you know, back and forth.
- 6:20SPEAKER_04: So 10, 11 minutes into the game, I get a ball comes in from a corner, drops to me, knee, volley into the goal.
- 6:28SPEAKER_03: Oh, see this?
- 6:29SPEAKER_04: It was a head you like play head tennis, so you still knee and volley over the neck, and I went it perfect.
- 6:34SPEAKER_04: But then I can remember it as well now, even I could remember just get on target, just get on target, the keepers like what we'll be blindsided and just could see the ball going in, running off, celebrating, didn't know what I was gonna do, do this for like a split second.
- 6:46SPEAKER_04: And I pointed and see my wife Lise open the stands, point up there and see her celebrating and all.
- 6:51SPEAKER_04: So it was unbelievable.
- 6:52SPEAKER_04: And then we went back to the hotel.
- 6:54SPEAKER_03: Wait there, you know why everyone was celebrating?
- 6:57SPEAKER_03: What was the bonus?
- 6:58SPEAKER_03: Peter Murphy 1-0 in that final 40-1.
- 7:02SPEAKER_03: We lumped.
- 7:03SPEAKER_03: Honestly, because loads of people said it was loads of people lumped.
- 7:07SPEAKER_03: You know, Roy, yeah, high heels on last week at Kia.
- 7:11SPEAKER_04: He had a 33-to-one.
- 7:12SPEAKER_04: He had but he would have he would have put a bit on.
- 7:16SPEAKER_04: Honestly, still haven't bought me a drink.
- 7:19SPEAKER_01: None of them.
- 7:19SPEAKER_01: You should never be paying for me.
- 7:21SPEAKER_01: There you go.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: You shouldn't be paying for a drink again, Kelly, after that.
- 7:25SPEAKER_03: That's me.
- 7:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so he what so then got back to the hotel afterwards, and everybody celebrating me and uh my wife opened the hotel room for about an hour and a half, just absolutely dead.
- 7:35SPEAKER_04: And yeah, uh Oscar baby at the time.
- 7:37SPEAKER_04: We were like, What do we even what are we gonna call him?
- 7:40SPEAKER_04: Well, I like the name at the moment.
- 7:42SPEAKER_03: I remember your interview after the game, and Sky went, Are you gonna call we haven't nearly went Sky went, Are you gonna call him Johnston?
- 7:47SPEAKER_03: He went, No, maybe paint.
- 7:48SPEAKER_03: I was like, not bad for you, Mur.
- 7:50SPEAKER_03: Sharp.
- 7:54SPEAKER_03: And then so yeah, you missed well, did you did you go downstairs for a couple?
- 7:58SPEAKER_04: Oh, we did, yeah, yeah.
- 7:59SPEAKER_04: Ended up going down.
- 8:00SPEAKER_04: I had a great night.
- 8:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah, to be quality.
- 8:03SPEAKER_04: Who was it?
- 8:04SPEAKER_04: Uh Liam Noble.
- 8:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah, Liam Noble Nobsa.
- 8:08SPEAKER_04: He him and his family had about five kegs uh or five crates of beer all brought in for the outside, not buying the hotel.
- 8:15SPEAKER_01: Being London places, yeah.
- 8:17SPEAKER_03: Weddings, you know when you're staying over, yeah, shouldn't give this away.
- 8:20SPEAKER_03: Drive in, boot all your beer in there.
- 8:24SPEAKER_03: I'm I'm efficient as well.
- 8:25SPEAKER_03: I ring the I say, hi, I'm staying at a wedding, I'm coming to a wedding.
- 8:29SPEAKER_03: Just wondering what logger you sell, just so I can get my head around it.
- 8:32SPEAKER_03: Oh, we have this, this, that bottles of what?
- 8:34SPEAKER_03: Corona, nice one.
- 8:36SPEAKER_03: Fill the boot with that.
- 8:37SPEAKER_03: Quit going outside, get them in.
- 8:40SPEAKER_03: Oh, save yourself about 200 quid, don't you?
- 8:43SPEAKER_04: It's not trying to remember that for the future, don't you?
- 8:45SPEAKER_03: Um so Murphy's here.
- 8:48SPEAKER_03: It's a standing host we're gonna give you today, because we're gonna dip into your career, but we're gonna get you back on and go through your career in a bit more detail because there is a hell of a lot to cover.
- 8:58SPEAKER_01: So, how many appearances then in the wait dang it there?
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: Have you already got it?
- 9:02SPEAKER_03: We'll go in a bit more detail, and we might call it Tales of a Busy, Busy Man, because as you'll learn over this episode, he's helped with he's helped the wreck these.
- 9:12SPEAKER_03: I know a man who can uh come in and do them.
- 9:15SPEAKER_03: I thought he can do a bit of interview, but he can help as well.
- 9:18SPEAKER_03: I I haven't slaughtered you that much on this pod.
- 9:20SPEAKER_03: There was uh who can we are who was it last week?
- 9:24SPEAKER_04: Was the call?
- 9:25SPEAKER_04: What no, no, not Carl McMinnow.
- 9:27SPEAKER_04: I know who he was in, but there was the somebody you'd text in telling a story, and then it was like a murph up the front reading a book.
- 9:35SPEAKER_04: You said you came up to uh Gilson and did the pub and I was doing a cross cross at the corner.
- 9:38SPEAKER_04: That was totally like as Lisa told you that story.
- 9:42SPEAKER_04: My wife, and then he goes use it.
- 9:43SPEAKER_04: I was out on a Saturday night.
- 9:45SPEAKER_03: You're killing us, yeah, because you usually do sit across leg.
- 9:47SPEAKER_03: Anyway, got no room over 400 appearances, right?
- 9:51SPEAKER_03: 471.
- 9:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah 471.
- 9:54SPEAKER_03: That starts.
- 9:55SPEAKER_03: No, all in so you started a lot then because yeah, because 412.
- 10:01SPEAKER_04: Well, that's right, I was quite fortunate.
- 10:03SPEAKER_04: I played different positions as well, didn't I?
- 10:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you did.
- 10:06SPEAKER_03: I did so with that record, I can't remember you having I can remember you having niggles, but you never had an injury injury, did you?
- 10:13SPEAKER_04: No, never had like bad injuries, but then does it the like any footballer you play and play true injuries, play with injuries, you I've you strap your ankles up.
- 10:24SPEAKER_03: But you would have been ruled out for this day and age.
- 10:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 10:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 10:29SPEAKER_03: I so fun and thing here.
- 10:31SPEAKER_03: But as you said, you played when I first came, you were left wing.
- 10:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 10:35SPEAKER_03: In that when you scored the playoff final goal against Stephen Hidge, you were left midfield.
- 10:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 10:42SPEAKER_03: Um when you scored the title winning Rochdale, like the the Clincher, you're kind of left back, left wing back in that game as well.
- 10:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's left side for small majority of the game.
- 10:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you played centre mid with me on my first game.
- 10:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 10:56SPEAKER_03: Uh Skip said you played centre mid with him with for Celtic Nation.
- 10:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and got him to do some running and exactly I he's gets not on it, is he?
- 11:05SPEAKER_04: He's never said he says he never used to be and all that.
- 11:07SPEAKER_04: And then when he came with me, I was like, hold, hold right, go up, press, press.
- 11:12SPEAKER_03: Yep, so episode Adam 29.
- 11:16SPEAKER_03: Jesus.
- 11:37SPEAKER_04: I'm standing in for skip, but we've heard about his man recently, you know.
- 11:40SPEAKER_04: So what you're doing as well, the raffle raising awareness, excellent.
- 11:43SPEAKER_04: You know, yeah, it's really good.
- 11:44SPEAKER_03: We've had uh we've had some donations as well.
- 11:48SPEAKER_03: I I tell you what, I was gonna read a few more texts out last week, and I'm uh my throat's got and I went, I can't do it.
- 11:54SPEAKER_03: I thought I thought what he's gonna be like, I says, I can't do it.
- 11:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I says, I can't do it, I couldn't do it, so if he couldn't do it, but no, he needs this holiday.
- 12:03SPEAKER_03: Good luck to him.
- 12:04SPEAKER_03: Looking well posted the picture today.
- 12:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah, doing someone.
- 12:09SPEAKER_03: Well, his face was purple, and you'd only been there.
- 12:11SPEAKER_03: Take it quick, take it quick.
- 12:13SPEAKER_03: I was remembering Marvey.
- 12:14SPEAKER_03: I were walking down the uh when I was 18, walking down the with Mickey Holland, call him Harvey Mix, he'd just get all the fake gear and all that at Sunland.
- 12:23SPEAKER_03: Me, Harvey Mix, and um Michael Grey, ex-captain of Sunland, were walking down the beach, and Mickey Gray went, got a pain in my chest today.
- 12:32SPEAKER_03: Mickey Holland went, breathe out.
- 12:35SPEAKER_03: All of it down on the beach like that.
- 12:38SPEAKER_03: So, sponsor, let me get this right, or they'll fucking kill me.
- 12:42SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 12:42SPEAKER_03: Paolo's Fish and Chip Shop, located in Denton Home.
- 12:46SPEAKER_03: Dad, Paul Fontana, started in the industry over 50 years ago with his dad, and more recently in 2013, took over Paolo's with his daughter Gemma, and his son Paul joined the business also in 2018.
- 13:00SPEAKER_03: Obviously, it was all with the help of Mam K.
- 13:03SPEAKER_03: Have a range of products including regular specials, group gluten-free, and the ever-popular family feast open seven days a week and open all day.
- 13:13SPEAKER_03: Ramos's son, Laura's son, uh James works there as well at the minute.
- 13:17SPEAKER_03: And uh Gemma and Rich are on a bar crawl around um Newcastle today, Munda Club, which I told you about.
- 13:22SPEAKER_03: So that's all right, but we know Funny, don't we?
- 13:25SPEAKER_03: We know the whole family looked after you when you came over.
- 13:28SPEAKER_04: Best family ever.
- 13:29SPEAKER_04: I loved them.
- 13:30SPEAKER_03: You were you came over and so you met Funny through a pub?
- 13:34SPEAKER_03: The White House.
- 13:34SPEAKER_03: The White House.
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: No, the White House.
- 13:40SPEAKER_03: So it's where for people asking now where Andalusian is, yeah, it was the White House pub.
- 13:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so the Fonnies ran that uh for a number of years and then they stayed above it.
- 13:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:49SPEAKER_04: So it was a regular place for under the Roddy Collins era for uh lock-ins.
- 13:55SPEAKER_03: And was Roddy there himself?
- 13:57SPEAKER_04: He was there on a number of occasions, yeah.
- 13:59SPEAKER_03: He was on a Saturday night, even if she just got beat.
- 14:02SPEAKER_04: So Roddy Collins' mantra was uh if you don't come out drinking with me, you're you know you're not a part of the the team.
- 14:08SPEAKER_04: Oh, I would have signed for him.
- 14:10SPEAKER_04: Oh, you'd have them in, wouldn't you?
- 14:11SPEAKER_04: He used to take it personal till the messy hard.
- 14:14SPEAKER_03: Maybe Skip didn't dr drink enough, so I didn't want him.
- 14:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I heard that story as well.
- 14:19SPEAKER_04: You just rang him to tell him I'm not that I want to sign him.
- 14:23SPEAKER_03: That is it's true that though, innit?
- 14:24SPEAKER_03: That's I think Ronnie's done it a few people.
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: I didn't know much about him until that story came out, and then obviously the James McLean thing and seeing more stories, and now I can imagine it.
- 14:34SPEAKER_01: Like he's got that on him.
- 14:36SPEAKER_03: He loved you though, but I can see you've butting heads.
- 14:39SPEAKER_04: Um not really, no.
- 14:41SPEAKER_04: Like I was a young lad, um professional, but just like loved love playing, you know.
- 14:46SPEAKER_04: You just as I already said about being busy.
- 14:48SPEAKER_04: I just used to do my thing, my thing.
- 14:50SPEAKER_04: Roddy was a a law onto himself.
- 14:53SPEAKER_04: Honestly, I could write a book about my life, but then not write a book about all the stuff Roddy did.
- 14:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 14:58SPEAKER_04: Even like we when I came up first and signed, there was a a young kid he brought up from Liverpool called Scott Willis, who was 18.
- 15:07SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 15:07SPEAKER_04: His kid could not play football, was a little scouser, just never shut up talking.
- 15:12SPEAKER_04: And Roddy in a change room in the first few days was like, I offered him a trial.
- 15:15SPEAKER_04: I offered him to come up because he rang me and told me the reason why he's up here, because he rang me and told me he'd run through a brick wall for me.
- 15:21SPEAKER_04: So I said, No problem, come up and play.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: Didn't put a wall up for him, did he?
- 15:25SPEAKER_04: Like, go run into that one over there.
- 15:27SPEAKER_04: Honestly, like just the kid couldn't play could he not because he because he rang him and said, I'll run through a brick wall.
- 15:33SPEAKER_04: Roddy's like, fair enough.
- 15:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he'll be for me, but didn't probably check his history, didn't check where he's played or anything like that.
- 15:38SPEAKER_04: Just said, Yeah, come on up.
- 15:39SPEAKER_04: But he's probably on the run, isn't he?
- 15:41SPEAKER_03: I watched that rod squad of this one.
- 15:42SPEAKER_03: I keep I'm gonna have to send it to you.
- 15:44SPEAKER_03: And he said, I've just Peter Reed tried to bend me over about Brendan McGill.
- 15:48SPEAKER_03: And I fucking told Reedy, you don't talk to me.
- 15:50SPEAKER_03: And now we get on great.
- 15:51SPEAKER_03: I totally remember the story.
- 15:53SPEAKER_03: Even Brendan was going, I that Roddy shit himself because the gaffer went, You'll pay his full wages or you don't get him.
- 15:58SPEAKER_03: But it uh is can I say I think he's quite endearing.
- 16:02SPEAKER_04: Honestly, you say you hear some of the stories now.
- 16:04SPEAKER_04: Like if you watch it, like he's brought out a book, The Rod Father.
- 16:06SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 16:07SPEAKER_04: Have you heard about this now?
- 16:08SPEAKER_03: Of course he has.
- 16:09SPEAKER_03: I'm on Amazon tonight.
- 16:11SPEAKER_04: But have a look at some of the like the clips on if you're saying we're on YouTube, have a look at some of the clips of him getting interviewed now, and some of the stories he comes out with are like ridiculous.
- 16:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah, even like when he we were playing, there's one I can remember.
- 16:24SPEAKER_04: We were playing Bristol Rovers.
- 16:26SPEAKER_04: Do you remember Bristol Rovers?
- 16:28SPEAKER_04: Where's the the tunnel at Bristol Rovers?
- 16:30SPEAKER_04: Right in the corner.
- 16:31SPEAKER_04: Right in the corner.
- 16:32SPEAKER_04: So we were playing the game, Bristol Rovers, and I think we were winning 1-0.
- 16:36SPEAKER_04: And we had a player, John McCarthy.
- 16:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 16:38SPEAKER_04: Remember John McCarthy's good career, him?
- 16:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 16:40SPEAKER_04: He used to play Birmingham City, that's where he made his name and everything like that.
- 16:43SPEAKER_04: And came to us, he was playing, he got booked, and then I think about the 72nd minute or something, you know, 70-odd minute, he got booked again, but it was over the far side near the tunnel.
- 16:52SPEAKER_04: So it's red card.
- 16:54SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 16:54SPEAKER_04: So he walks off down the tunnel.
- 16:56SPEAKER_04: So Roddy's watching the next 10 minutes, we're getting battered, like the Alamo, or getting battered, and then he ruddy's ending up going, Where the f is John McCarthy?
- 17:06SPEAKER_05: He's killing us over that side.
- 17:09SPEAKER_04: And then Bugsy, John Cunningham.
- 17:11SPEAKER_04: It was the ring and goes, Roddy, he got sent off 10 minutes ago.
- 17:16SPEAKER_05: Why the f didn't you tell me?
- 17:18SPEAKER_04: You know, and you're going, Oh my god.
- 17:20SPEAKER_04: And after the game, we get it up.
- 17:21SPEAKER_04: I think it was one one finished or something like that.
- 17:23SPEAKER_04: We get into the changing them afterwards, and he goes, Now, lads, what about that McCarthy getting sent off?
- 17:28SPEAKER_04: We didn't even know.
- 17:29SPEAKER_04: And you're going, Oh my god, that's what we're dealing with here as a manager.
- 17:33SPEAKER_04: Honestly, there's so many stories.
- 17:35SPEAKER_03: Was there some players who in that dressing room probably suffered from that?
- 17:39SPEAKER_03: Like, I think the likes of Shelly Air and Will McDonald and that, and maybe they didn't help themselves, but they came over.
- 17:47SPEAKER_03: I didn't think if they had a similar someone earlier, could they have kicked on, or was it yeah?
- 17:53SPEAKER_04: I think, but at that time, Roddy Comments gave it.
- 17:57SPEAKER_03: It's too much.
- 17:57SPEAKER_03: Craig Russell, who played for Sunderland, went for 1.5.
- 18:00SPEAKER_03: He ended up here and he said it was just carnage.
- 18:02SPEAKER_03: He said he gave up.
- 18:04SPEAKER_03: He said he drove in every day, no, it was going to be a shambles, drive home, get his air out the way, take the money, and then get it out the way.
- 18:11SPEAKER_04: Well, that was in the end how Simo ended up getting the job and taking over.
- 18:16SPEAKER_04: Simo was going to quit.
- 18:17SPEAKER_04: He was a player.
- 18:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 18:18SPEAKER_04: And uh, we I think we got beat on a Saturday, you know, on a run of defeats.
- 18:22SPEAKER_04: Then we come in on the Monday and he's like, right, I want to see who runs the most.
- 18:26SPEAKER_04: Whoever, whoever can't run until I say stop, we'll never play for the club again.
- 18:31SPEAKER_04: Simo's been there, he's knee's not.
- 18:33SPEAKER_04: And he's just going, like, but then you know what I'm like, I'm running around and going around and go, Come on, somebody, we'll keep going.
- 18:39SPEAKER_04: And that's like I just kept getting on with it.
- 18:41SPEAKER_04: And then after it, we're walking out, and someone's like, I don't need this.
- 18:44SPEAKER_04: I you know, yeah.
- 18:46SPEAKER_04: Um at this age, I don't need that.
- 18:47SPEAKER_04: Like, I've been through it and seen it all.
- 18:49SPEAKER_04: Um, but Roddy, I was a little bit of what you call a bluffer.
- 18:55SPEAKER_04: It's really like it's a it's a tough one because going through that time, you think because I was only n 20 years old or 19, 20 years old, and you're thinking, right, well, I just want to play, just want to play.
- 19:04SPEAKER_04: But so many stories.
- 19:05SPEAKER_04: So many stories.
- 19:07SPEAKER_03: But uh, yeah, I remember Shell said that Shelley said you he took his out at two o'clock for like three kicks or something.
- 19:13SPEAKER_03: He was just similar, like, that's me.
- 19:15SPEAKER_03: But I think after the next game it transpired.
- 19:17SPEAKER_03: But how was the weekend anyway, Dylan?
- 19:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, fine.
- 19:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 19:21SPEAKER_01: Good.
- 19:21SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: I missed it, I tweaked my knee a little bit, so I never played.
- 19:25SPEAKER_01: Um three-three.
- 19:27SPEAKER_01: Three-three, yeah.
- 19:28SPEAKER_03: It's it looked like a decent game.
- 19:30SPEAKER_01: Aye, well, we conceded a pen in the last kick of the ball.
- 19:33SPEAKER_01: I watched it back, um, because my wee one wasn't well Saturday, so I didn't make the game.
- 19:37SPEAKER_01: Um I dodgy, dodge it, pen.
- 19:39SPEAKER_01: But again, the levels, like obviously, refs are just starting out.
- 19:43SPEAKER_01: I mean, you don't want to blame ref, but they're they are just starting out in their careers as referees.
- 19:47SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
- 19:48SPEAKER_01: So you can imagine the the standard is is no like what you what you're wanting really.
- 19:53SPEAKER_01: But you're Randal scored hat trick, didn't he?
- 19:55SPEAKER_01: Did I?
- 19:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 19:56SPEAKER_01: Anderson.
- 19:56SPEAKER_01: I see forward.
- 19:59SPEAKER_01: He's a good player.
- 19:59SPEAKER_01: Is he?
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: Hi.
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: Oh, is it the ginger lad?
- 20:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 20:02SPEAKER_01: You can see he's played good players, and he's shocked.
- 20:04SPEAKER_01: The gingers are running them all, can't he?
- 20:06SPEAKER_03: Has he played higher, has he?
- 20:08SPEAKER_03: I had Andal.
- 20:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 20:09SPEAKER_04: Oh, did you?
- 20:09SPEAKER_04: I had Ando at Annan.
- 20:10SPEAKER_04: Uh he scored a lot of goals uh the lower leagues, banging in the goals, which he still is.
- 20:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 20:15SPEAKER_04: And I took him to Annan.
- 20:16SPEAKER_04: But when I when I took Ando to Annan, I don't believe he believed in himself confidence-wise.
- 20:21SPEAKER_04: He did the door at that level.
- 20:22SPEAKER_04: And he was really good.
- 20:23SPEAKER_04: He was really good, but just didn't fully believe in it.
- 20:25SPEAKER_04: He ended up dropping back down and playing with lads he knows and all that, and just scoring, scoring goals again and being in Gretner now a good few years, and he's still scoring goals.
- 20:33SPEAKER_03: I seen you at the youth game, Carl United youth, when I watched it for just half an hour.
- 20:38SPEAKER_03: Um Oscar St.
- 20:40SPEAKER_03: Johnson's paint.
- 20:42SPEAKER_03: He was there playing centre half, wasn't he?
- 20:44SPEAKER_03: Against the physical Burton side.
- 20:47SPEAKER_03: And Burton's manager of the youth team on the other pitch was no, he's the academy manager, Francois.
- 20:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I met him last year.
- 20:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah, great chat catching up on him.
- 20:56SPEAKER_04: You play with him then, yeah?
- 20:57SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I did, yeah.
- 20:58SPEAKER_04: Franco Francois is an Enigma.
- 21:00SPEAKER_03: He was.
- 21:00SPEAKER_03: There was an argument.
- 21:01SPEAKER_03: What about Khalil?
- 21:02SPEAKER_03: There was an argument the other week about in Don't You Dare to ruffle feathers, Bridges or Zoko, Don't You Dare.
- 21:12SPEAKER_03: Bridges.
- 21:13SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 21:13SPEAKER_03: There we go.
- 21:13SPEAKER_04: I thought it was Bridges for what you for what you produced in games and all that.
- 21:17SPEAKER_04: But what was Bridgie like in training?
- 21:18SPEAKER_04: Oh crap.
- 21:19SPEAKER_04: He just wasn't bad.
- 21:20SPEAKER_03: I used to feel sorry for the kit ladies.
- 21:23SPEAKER_03: Oh he was excellent.
- 21:25SPEAKER_03: Oh Jim.
- 21:26SPEAKER_03: Horrendous.
- 21:26SPEAKER_03: Leaking, leaking, ah, everything from both just horrible.
- 21:30SPEAKER_03: Horrible.
- 21:31SPEAKER_03: Anyway, I've got to read this out and I'm bloody sorry to who sent it in.
- 21:35SPEAKER_03: I've checked and checked and checked and I can't find the name, so I'll put it right next week.
- 21:39SPEAKER_03: But this is be this is after last week's home game, Carlisle.
- 21:43SPEAKER_03: How's it going, lads?
- 21:44SPEAKER_03: Disappointing loss to the start of the season.
- 21:46SPEAKER_03: I can't lie.
- 21:47SPEAKER_03: I wasn't confident of a win after defending in the Salford game and our injury situation.
- 21:52SPEAKER_03: Thankfully for me, the result came second to take my five year old daughter to her first game.
- 21:58SPEAKER_03: Sunshin'.
- 22:00SPEAKER_03: Pink away kit on, fan zone packed, and an ice cream in hand.
- 22:03SPEAKER_03: Sounds like my idea with Zara.
- 22:05SPEAKER_03: She was buzzing, and my normal pregame routine of a burger and pint in the fan zone was replaced by the family zone in the east stand, where we had a colouring competition and played Connect 4.
- 22:16SPEAKER_03: Massive credit to the club.
- 22:18SPEAKER_03: As someone who normally sits in the main stand, I have to say, if anyone is thinking of taking young kids, the east stand is far better.
- 22:24SPEAKER_03: Yet more evidence that everything is going right off the pitch.
- 22:27SPEAKER_03: It's just a shame it's not quite there on it.
- 22:29SPEAKER_03: The roundly booed off high the rightly booed off hydration break was an excellent chance to get extra snacks and then back down for a half-time pint.
- 22:39SPEAKER_03: Sorry, a game of guess who.
- 22:41SPEAKER_03: By the end of the second hydration break, I got, dad, I'm tired.
- 22:45SPEAKER_03: Can we go?
- 22:46SPEAKER_03: And I said there's not long to go now, but we all know what happened next.
- 22:49SPEAKER_03: As a third wording goal hit the net, I said, we can go now if you like.
- 22:53SPEAKER_03: But as the east stand was emptying rapidly, as if there was a fire drill, she turned round and said, No, dad, there's time left.
- 22:59SPEAKER_03: I want to see if the blues score next.
- 23:01SPEAKER_03: Great to know she wasn't put off, but I don't think I'm ready to spend every hour before kickoff playing giant kaplunk, table football, and connect for just yet.
- 23:09SPEAKER_03: And a cold pint of cruise campo in the sun slightly edges it.
- 23:13SPEAKER_03: I taking your you know what, as we keep saying every week, that match the experience now is phenomenal.
- 23:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you can get in the ground at one, keep them entertained till three, and then it's just keep them entertained during the match.
- 23:28SPEAKER_03: Make sure you've got your light.
- 23:29SPEAKER_03: But again, I'm very sorry for who sent this in.
- 23:31SPEAKER_03: I will put it right next week, but a great uh text in.
- 23:35SPEAKER_03: So, Murph, a little bit Blackburn when you started.
- 23:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah, go back to sorry, can I just go back to that one with everything that's going on at the club?
- 23:42SPEAKER_04: Because I was fortunate enough to be in the hospitality for the wording game and over in the s stand, and the the way in which it's been kitted out inside, it's unbelievable as well.
- 23:53SPEAKER_04: Um, the commercial team looked after me.
- 23:55SPEAKER_04: How many bowls of food did you do?
- 23:57SPEAKER_04: You've got the record on it, I didn't get to really eat that much because you're running around Millie here.
- 24:02SPEAKER_00: Oh no, I'll tell Millie to give us half a yard.
- 24:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like I've stoked tapa supposed to go through sacrifice the first half sometimes.
- 24:10SPEAKER_04: But honestly, it's excellent of what the club has done in the background, the fan zone.
- 24:14SPEAKER_04: And then if if that's I didn't wasn't even aware of that, so for free.
- 24:17SPEAKER_03: I actually looked I thought you looked well.
- 24:20SPEAKER_03: Are you gonna give us what was the top from the top, the nice knitted top, and then you had a chino on?
- 24:26SPEAKER_03: I did.
- 24:26SPEAKER_03: You've been watching me.
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: I reckon your gear by the way he loves his game.
- 24:30SPEAKER_03: He won't he won't order online, it's old school.
- 24:32SPEAKER_03: I reckon it's MS.
- 24:34SPEAKER_03: Mine?
- 24:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, no, anything?
- 24:37SPEAKER_03: It was online.
- 24:38SPEAKER_03: I was like putting hell.
- 24:42SPEAKER_03: Right, Blackburn Rovers, where you started from Ireland.
- 24:46SPEAKER_03: What time did you move what age did you move over there?
- 24:48SPEAKER_03: Sixteen.
- 24:49SPEAKER_03: Sixteen?
- 24:49SPEAKER_03: Because usually you could come earlier, could you not?
- 24:51SPEAKER_03: The Irish or the Scottish?
- 24:53SPEAKER_03: You used to go you could go earlier somewhere.
- 24:56SPEAKER_04: Someday there was a couple of players that I played with.
- 24:58SPEAKER_03: Um did you play with Dave McMahon in that?
- 25:01SPEAKER_04: He was younger.
- 25:04SPEAKER_04: Brutal.
- 25:04SPEAKER_04: He was younger.
- 25:05SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 25:06SPEAKER_04: Um there was a couple of players who went over like the Liverpool and that at 13, 13 years old.
- 25:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 25:13SPEAKER_04: Who was the manager at Blackburn?
- 25:14SPEAKER_04: Kenny Doug Leach, I just won the Premier League.
- 25:16SPEAKER_04: Oh, they just that isn't it?
- 25:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 25:19SPEAKER_04: So it was.
- 25:20SPEAKER_03: That was it.
- 25:20SPEAKER_03: That was the glory days.
- 25:22SPEAKER_03: Who was in the dressing room then?
- 25:23SPEAKER_03: Big hitters.
- 25:24SPEAKER_04: So obviously I'd come over as a 16-year-old in the the youth change of rooms and um the reserves and all that, but yeah, yeah.
- 25:31SPEAKER_04: Shearers, Sutton's, Willcox.
- 25:34SPEAKER_04: Will Cox Batty.
- 25:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 25:36SPEAKER_04: Uh who's Sherry now?
- 25:38SPEAKER_04: Colin Hendry.
- 25:39SPEAKER_04: Colin Hendry.
- 25:40SPEAKER_04: Colin Hendry.
- 25:40SPEAKER_04: Sherwood.
- 25:41SPEAKER_04: Sherwood.
- 25:42SPEAKER_04: I'm sorry, yeah.
- 25:42SPEAKER_04: I loved him.
- 25:43SPEAKER_03: Who's in my feud for them?
- 25:44SPEAKER_03: Sherwood and sometimes Ian Atkins back eye.
- 25:48SPEAKER_03: Flickcroft, wasn't it?
- 25:49SPEAKER_04: On the Flickcroft brothers.
- 25:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 25:50SPEAKER_04: The load of them produced.
- 25:52SPEAKER_04: Uh did you live on camp?
- 25:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, just up the top of the hill in the block all.
- 25:57SPEAKER_03: They were one of the first ones to uh to do that, yeah.
- 26:00SPEAKER_03: Martin Taylor.
- 26:00SPEAKER_04: It was brand new, yeah.
- 26:01SPEAKER_04: So Martin Taylor was a year above me and David Dunn.
- 26:04SPEAKER_04: David Dunn, how good was he?
- 26:06SPEAKER_04: Excellent, brilliant.
- 26:08SPEAKER_03: Be better now, I think.
- 26:09SPEAKER_04: He would be better now.
- 26:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think because he was expected to run a bit, as in get up and down in a 4-4-2.
- 26:17SPEAKER_03: And then he'd play on the left, wouldn't he?
- 26:18SPEAKER_03: And cut in.
- 26:19SPEAKER_03: And I just think now if he played in a three, yeah, yeah, no, he'd be excellent.
- 26:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think either way, I think either sitting in front or in behind.
- 26:27SPEAKER_04: But he was he was playing when the likes have we said Sherwood, Flipcroft, and I'm not playing like seasoned pros.
- 26:32SPEAKER_04: It was Damian Duff.
- 26:34SPEAKER_04: What up well?
- 26:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah, was excellent.
- 26:37SPEAKER_04: But Dunny did really well.
- 26:39SPEAKER_04: He was a local boy, they all loved him.
- 26:41SPEAKER_04: Played for years, then had a good couple of moves as well.
- 26:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he did I.
- 26:44SPEAKER_04: But everybody remembers him trying to do that as the Rabona and falling over.
- 26:47SPEAKER_04: You know, that kind of I know that killer sticks with you.
- 26:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 26:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it does stick with you.
- 26:51SPEAKER_03: There's a few things now that go on, and you think that's think of what you've achieved in the game, would you?
- 26:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 26:56SPEAKER_03: And people just What did I say about Harry Kane?
- 26:58SPEAKER_03: He's gonna win the Ballon d'Ont.
- 26:59SPEAKER_03: He's gonna be remembered for Helium Balloon after the Mexico game.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: England's all-time goals go to be fair though.
- 27:07SPEAKER_03: When boys are playing videos of him in school, like about half an hour later, he'd done an interview again.
- 27:11SPEAKER_03: And I think Joe Ottonney went, I know you're gonna batter us.
- 27:14SPEAKER_03: His voice had come back.
- 27:15SPEAKER_03: I came back.
- 27:17SPEAKER_03: I was so I know it won't go massive into the career, but could you see a pathway there?
- 27:22SPEAKER_03: Or because signing for the champions when they were spending that much money, Jack.
- 27:25SPEAKER_04: So who did you start with in Ireland?
- 27:27SPEAKER_04: Sorry.
- 27:27SPEAKER_04: I started with a team, uh St.
- 27:29SPEAKER_04: Joseph's Boys in Dublin.
- 27:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 27:32SPEAKER_04: So uh played there for the the couple of years.
- 27:35SPEAKER_04: I was with me local, so I was a Ballybrack boys before that, but then I didn't even know you could get over to England at that time.
- 27:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah, uh now everybody tries to play to get over there.
- 27:45SPEAKER_04: I didn't even know.
- 27:46SPEAKER_04: And my one day my parents got a phone call.
- 27:47SPEAKER_04: I was sat at the top of the stairs, you know, the old phone calls that you know no mobiles in them days.
- 27:52SPEAKER_04: I was sitting at the top of the stairs, and I heard a guy where that used to live near my dad.
- 27:55SPEAKER_04: There was a his name is Pat Devlin.
- 27:57SPEAKER_04: He used to be uh um a scout for Blackbourne, and he's like, Yeah, I'd like to uh invite your boy over and take off the phone and sit down.
- 28:05SPEAKER_04: I was like, Can you can you do that?
- 28:06SPEAKER_04: Can I get over and then ended up going like Arsenal?
- 28:09SPEAKER_03: You went to West Ham?
- 28:10SPEAKER_03: United at West Ham, you said you go to Bill Cup at West Ham?
- 28:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah, because Mark May did Mark Melee go with you or not?
- 28:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 28:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Joe Cole was Joe Cole was your team.
- 28:18SPEAKER_04: There was another uh Amos Faya was a player he didn't never done it, never done anything, but him and Joe Cole were we were playing in the same team, and Amos would try a skill somewhere like a outrageous skill, and then if it didn't come off, then Joe Cole would take it over to the same point, do the skill, and the two of them would just be laughing.
- 28:34SPEAKER_04: It must have been unbelievable.
- 28:35SPEAKER_04: So you win the Joe Cole but it's like playing centre back watching that.
- 28:38SPEAKER_03: What age would that have been like 14-15?
- 28:39SPEAKER_03: So on the 14s tournament and on the 16s, wasn't that we were 14s?
- 28:43SPEAKER_04: I think it was about the 14s because I wouldn't have played in the 16s, then I don't think.
- 28:46SPEAKER_01: See, when everybody's the same size and all that, and like the same Oscar was a little uh melee, my mate.
- 28:52SPEAKER_03: He was so he he got shot in the eye.
- 28:55SPEAKER_01: Jesus.
- 28:55SPEAKER_03: We all bought pelicons at Sunderland, we all bought pelicons for some reason, and then one day, you know, you got a day off messing about one of the lads has gone, thought us on safety and done it, and he was aye's career.
- 29:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, like his career done.
- 29:11SPEAKER_03: To be fair, he was on the slippery path.
- 29:12SPEAKER_03: Like I lived with him for a bit as if on the no, I think I was hanging around with him.
- 29:17SPEAKER_03: He was the one who um was smoking in more beer, and and uh Peter Reed went next day, didn't say a word, and I went, May you're alright.
- 29:25SPEAKER_03: So we've gone all the way back to London, six hours on the coach, just as he gets off, we've got two months off.
- 29:30SPEAKER_03: Dropped Peter Reed at Yarm he just went, Have a great summer, lads.
- 29:33SPEAKER_03: He's been different class.
- 29:34SPEAKER_03: Maily, I'll see you first day back in my office to Kildi Summer.
- 29:39SPEAKER_03: It's on holiday like that.
- 29:41SPEAKER_03: Sell it.
- 29:41SPEAKER_03: Oh no, the buffer.
- 29:45SPEAKER_03: Um, yeah, so I I liked hearing about the the apprentice days.
- 29:49SPEAKER_03: Jobs, did you do the jobs?
- 29:51SPEAKER_04: I did.
- 29:51SPEAKER_04: I had five five players' boots, five boots Christ.
- 29:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah, five players' boots to clean, then you were uh proper cleaning the boots.
- 29:59SPEAKER_04: Who did you have?
- 29:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but the the as it dubbing in the like Carl and Henry.
- 30:02SPEAKER_02: Oh, he wouldn't have been that arse, would he?
- 30:04SPEAKER_02: Uh yeah, he was, yeah.
- 30:05SPEAKER_04: Fair player, they all were if they were boots because they expected their old school yeah, guys, and they're not then he used to get trying to get the bonuses at Christmas when Colin Henry was like sponsored by Mizuna or something like that.
- 30:15SPEAKER_04: Aye, aye.
- 30:16SPEAKER_04: He'd give me a pair of Mizuna.
- 30:17SPEAKER_01: Are the worst ones were like rubbish ones he's kept in local that he's not.
- 30:21SPEAKER_03: Speaking of bonuses, Murph like pissed off for a bit one pre-season, didn't think he was coming back.
- 30:26SPEAKER_03: I got in charge of the fines.
- 30:28SPEAKER_03: So when he came back, I was in charge for a year.
- 30:31SPEAKER_03: I got sacked off them the year after because we had raised no money.
- 30:34SPEAKER_03: I kept letting everyone off.
- 30:35SPEAKER_03: When at Christmas too, when Lummy was paying for the hotel, I went, You went, do you pay from the bonuses?
- 30:40SPEAKER_03: Ah, it's gone that you anyone else you had on the boots?
- 30:46SPEAKER_04: Oh no, I can't remember the five.
- 30:48SPEAKER_04: Do you have to pump balls up, wash corridors?
- 30:50SPEAKER_04: I did um the medical room.
- 30:52SPEAKER_04: Clean the medical room that making sure it was uh uh perfect.
- 30:55SPEAKER_04: But honestly, for kids not to do that these days, it's a great school and for you know it has to be right, you know, there's demands put on you, and it's a life skill though, I think, isn't it?
- 31:06SPEAKER_01: It's like everything like it's like yeah, and you like you go to any trade, you learn your way, employ ex footballers, timekeepering.
- 31:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Evan Howard.
- 31:15SPEAKER_01: Remember, I said Evan Howard.
- 31:16SPEAKER_04: Evan Howard used to play left back for I met him do it a week, bumped into him.
- 31:20SPEAKER_04: Um, and he was saying he's an electrician now, um, and he teaches it in uh schools as well, I think.
- 31:26SPEAKER_04: And he says you the he gets young lads to be to work along with him.
- 31:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he hires them and he says, They stand when you're speaking to a customer and they're standing against the wall, chewing jungle and all that, yeah.
- 31:36SPEAKER_04: Turn around going, What are you doing?
- 31:38SPEAKER_04: Like they're not on time, you know.
- 31:40SPEAKER_03: Three days a week, Evan.
- 31:41SPEAKER_03: Does he?
- 31:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah, plays golf the rest.
- 31:43SPEAKER_03: Evan, Evan, remember Evan.
- 31:46SPEAKER_04: Oh, I know.
- 31:46SPEAKER_04: That's uh but then I bought a BM, didn't he?
- 31:49SPEAKER_03: Brand new B not brand new, like second hand BM trep himself, it was two cars glued together.
- 31:54SPEAKER_03: It's two cars.
- 31:58SPEAKER_03: The door was falling off on the way over.
- 31:59SPEAKER_03: He was like, I might have to get rid of this.
- 32:02SPEAKER_03: He was he was one game.
- 32:05SPEAKER_03: So if he if we won the playoff final, if we got to the playoff final, even if we lost it when we got beat off Leeds, he got 50 grand because he had to play that season something like 28 games.
- 32:17SPEAKER_03: So many games, yeah.
- 32:17SPEAKER_03: Who's this for?
- 32:18SPEAKER_03: For Cardell.
- 32:19SPEAKER_03: John Ward said it was his best ever free signing because of something about money.
- 32:23SPEAKER_03: He didn't have to pay something, but something went along.
- 32:26SPEAKER_03: And then it's a bet because it didn't have to pay it in the end.
- 32:28SPEAKER_03: Evan was absolutely distraught, like just never recovered.
- 32:32SPEAKER_03: Anyway, what you said before and the raffle.
- 32:36SPEAKER_03: Thank you so much to everyone who's donated at the minute.
- 32:39SPEAKER_03: Um, we've got a lot of prizes coming forward.
- 32:40SPEAKER_03: I will do a proper post on it.
- 32:42SPEAKER_03: We've still got a month or so of it.
- 32:44SPEAKER_03: Tally's rising all the time, and we'll um tell you what it's going to, but there's some more prizes coming our way.
- 32:51SPEAKER_03: I got a text today about someone sorting one out for us, and it's it's ridiculous.
- 32:54SPEAKER_03: But thank you very much.
- 32:56SPEAKER_03: Brilliant, yeah.
- 32:56SPEAKER_03: Now we've had a message come in for weeks.
- 32:58SPEAKER_03: We've had the Indian Chinese debate.
- 33:01SPEAKER_03: We've even had a lunatic last week eating pop a doms after the main meal.
- 33:06SPEAKER_03: So they've had the Indian and had the popadoms then.
- 33:09SPEAKER_03: That's sheer lunacy.
- 33:10SPEAKER_03: What would you what would you say then?
- 33:11SPEAKER_03: We're there, we're there, we're there.
- 33:13SPEAKER_03: He's getting that out, isn't he?
- 33:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 33:14SPEAKER_03: Jamie Devitt, Irish, yes.
- 33:16SPEAKER_03: And he says a curry in Ireland means a Chinese.
- 33:22SPEAKER_03: What we're saying, what the question is, if you're saying we're going out for a curry, what are you automatically thinking?
- 33:27SPEAKER_04: So it's a difference.
- 33:28SPEAKER_04: I think he when he says that he means probably a takeaway.
- 33:30SPEAKER_04: You would in Ireland you'd probably get a curry from a Chinese.
- 33:36SPEAKER_01: Same thing, innit?
- 33:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you would have to say you said Indian.
- 33:39SPEAKER_01: So if one of your mates was like, Oh, we'll go, we'll go out and get a curry, or we'll grab a curry or whatever on the way home.
- 33:45SPEAKER_01: Chinese?
- 33:46SPEAKER_01: No.
- 33:47SPEAKER_01: You just say Chinese.
- 33:48SPEAKER_01: He's agreeing.
- 33:49SPEAKER_01: And then if it's an Indian, you'll grab well, we'll grab an Indian.
- 33:52SPEAKER_01: This is like school, yeah.
- 33:53SPEAKER_01: Pick on the ginger.
- 33:54SPEAKER_01: I'd do say, like, oh, we're going out, we're going out to get a bite to eat and we'll go for a curry.
- 33:58SPEAKER_01: That's more like sit down or that kind of stuff.
- 33:59SPEAKER_01: But the way I said it was, are you shouting it?
- 34:02SPEAKER_01: I don't know, but I'm getting louder.
- 34:06SPEAKER_03: What's your order, Murph?
- 34:07SPEAKER_04: In a Chinese or a curry?
- 34:09SPEAKER_03: Chinese, let me say it.
- 34:11SPEAKER_03: He's really basic.
- 34:13SPEAKER_01: Sweet and silver chicken.
- 34:14SPEAKER_03: No, no, he's just your normal.
- 34:17SPEAKER_03: He's your chow mean, your rice, chips, choric sauce, prawn crackers, and a spare rib.
- 34:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah?
- 34:25SPEAKER_04: I probably have whatever my family wanted.
- 34:28SPEAKER_03: Do anything go out for anything like beef and black bean sauce or shit?
- 34:32SPEAKER_04: Noodles or something like that.
- 34:33SPEAKER_04: I love.
- 34:34SPEAKER_03: Not bad.
- 34:34SPEAKER_01: French toast?
- 34:35SPEAKER_01: No, brontoast.
- 34:36SPEAKER_01: French toast.
- 34:37SPEAKER_01: French toast.
- 34:37SPEAKER_01: Sorry.
- 34:38SPEAKER_01: Brontoast.
- 34:38SPEAKER_01: You get that in a Chinese?
- 34:39SPEAKER_01: It's greasy.
- 34:40SPEAKER_01: Greasy, do you?
- 34:40SPEAKER_01: In Glasgow, you could die.
- 34:42SPEAKER_01: Getting you want.
- 34:43SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 34:44SPEAKER_01: That's a shock of it.
- 34:45SPEAKER_03: So following on from that, what an email this is or message.
- 34:51SPEAKER_03: From Kev Horseman.
- 34:52SPEAKER_03: Kev, I love you for this.
- 34:53SPEAKER_03: Hi lads.
- 34:54SPEAKER_03: Loving the Horseman.
- 34:57SPEAKER_03: Hi lads.
- 34:58SPEAKER_03: Loving the podcast still.
- 34:59SPEAKER_03: One thing's for sure, it's never boring and great crack.
- 35:02SPEAKER_03: But here's one for you.
- 35:03SPEAKER_03: Me and the family go on holiday to Kalamaki and Zanti in Greece.
- 35:06SPEAKER_03: I've been with my pal.
- 35:08SPEAKER_03: About 2020, 2012, we went.
- 35:11SPEAKER_03: User just played a gatehead and a friendly and it got called off at halftime, waterlogged.
- 35:15SPEAKER_03: Remember that, Gateson at National Stadium?
- 35:17SPEAKER_03: Some memory by the.
- 35:17SPEAKER_03: Oh, you remember the winners and that, don't you?
- 35:19SPEAKER_03: And the St.
- 35:20SPEAKER_03: Johnson's paint.
- 35:21SPEAKER_03: St.
- 35:21SPEAKER_03: Johnson's Paint.
- 35:23SPEAKER_03: And they have a restaurant which I've taken a photograph of for you, and he has.
- 35:29SPEAKER_03: Get this up there with the great curry Indian Chinese debate.
- 35:32SPEAKER_03: You can get both in here.
- 35:35SPEAKER_03: Maharaja Indian and Chinese restaurant.
- 35:38SPEAKER_03: You can't beat a Chindian.
- 35:40SPEAKER_03: Onion Bargie starter and egg food young main.
- 35:43SPEAKER_03: Hold on.
- 35:44SPEAKER_03: So that right?
- 35:45SPEAKER_03: So I've been, I've not been at this restaurant.
- 35:47SPEAKER_03: I need to go back.
- 35:49SPEAKER_03: Indian and Chinese restaurant.
- 35:50SPEAKER_03: Chindian.
- 35:51SPEAKER_03: Chindian, love it.
- 35:52SPEAKER_03: I'd probably go starter Indian, Maine Chinese.
- 35:59SPEAKER_03: Oh, that sounds nice.
- 36:00SPEAKER_01: Think about the next day though.
- 36:02SPEAKER_01: What?
- 36:02SPEAKER_01: Your body must be in bits, your stomach must be in bits.
- 36:06SPEAKER_03: In fact.
- 36:10SPEAKER_03: Ramos.
- 36:12SPEAKER_03: Get calamaki uh booked.
- 36:14SPEAKER_03: I've got to take you out.
- 36:15SPEAKER_03: I'll treat you.
- 36:16SPEAKER_03: I'll garnera again for that.
- 36:18SPEAKER_03: Would you?
- 36:18SPEAKER_03: A chindian.
- 36:19unknown: Aye.
- 36:20SPEAKER_03: I'd travel the world for a chindian.
- 36:23SPEAKER_03: Prone crackers before or after the meal all the way through.
- 36:27SPEAKER_04: That's what I was when you were saying that.
- 36:28SPEAKER_04: I was thinking if they're still there on the table, you're gonna finish it up afterwards, aren't you?
- 36:32SPEAKER_01: So yeah, I'm a prone cracker when I've picked it up.
- 36:35SPEAKER_01: So you're picking my Chinese up.
- 36:38SPEAKER_03: Or passenger.
- 36:39SPEAKER_03: Skip has six mini spring rolls, chasers in the car.
- 36:42SPEAKER_03: What you dealing with them?
- 36:43SPEAKER_03: He's gonna answer me, Chaser.
- 36:47SPEAKER_03: Alright.
- 36:48SPEAKER_03: Arroyo, you beat the Arroya pub in Harobi.
- 36:53SPEAKER_03: So this debate's still going on about this Chinese.
- 36:55SPEAKER_03: Alright.
- 36:56SPEAKER_03: We're getting a little bit further here.
- 36:58SPEAKER_03: So Baz Rob has said there definitely wasn't.
- 37:01SPEAKER_03: I've even had the owner saying, the new owner saying that definitely wasn't.
- 37:04SPEAKER_03: I've had people from around that area saying there wasn't.
- 37:07SPEAKER_03: Now I've had four people saying from there there was.
- 37:10SPEAKER_03: We kind of narrowed it down.
- 37:12SPEAKER_03: The night I was in, there might have been like a party, and the Chinese went in and cooked it.
- 37:18SPEAKER_03: But when I've gone in the Sunday, they're still there packing the things up but having a drink and cooking some food still.
- 37:24SPEAKER_03: So I might have got it on the weekend.
- 37:27SPEAKER_03: So technically there's been Chinese.
- 37:29SPEAKER_04: So those four people were in the same night.
- 37:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Bellow, you know Bellow.
- 37:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 37:33SPEAKER_03: Bellow's in every day.
- 37:36SPEAKER_03: Alright.
- 37:37SPEAKER_03: So it's an interesting debate.
- 37:38SPEAKER_03: It went a bit far, but I think they're all yeah, we're gonna say 50-50.
- 37:42SPEAKER_03: We'll call it quits.
- 37:43SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 37:44SPEAKER_03: We've got to go on to it, lads.
- 37:46SPEAKER_03: Carlisle United.
- 37:49SPEAKER_03: You're at the match last Saturday, Worthing.
- 37:51SPEAKER_03: We've talked about it.
- 37:52SPEAKER_03: And you watched a little bit of the match with me at Uval at Carlisle Cricket Club the other day.
- 37:56SPEAKER_03: Another great day, Carlisle Cricket Club for the kids.
- 37:58SPEAKER_03: Bouncy Castle's face paint, bar.
- 38:01SPEAKER_03: I've been to about four cricket matches.
- 38:03SPEAKER_03: Still can't tell you a score.
- 38:04SPEAKER_03: Festival going on there soon enough as well, isn't it?
- 38:06SPEAKER_03: We've got it, Mini.
- 38:07SPEAKER_03: Ah, yeah.
- 38:07SPEAKER_03: Millie will be on.
- 38:08SPEAKER_03: We've got tickets, us.
- 38:10SPEAKER_03: Anyway, my thoughts.
- 38:12SPEAKER_03: Can I give you my thoughts first?
- 38:15SPEAKER_03: Whether he stumbled across Saturday getting Linny out to that left because of what's happened during the game, that needs to happen.
- 38:23SPEAKER_03: Linny needs to go for me.
- 38:24SPEAKER_03: Linny needs to go back on the left.
- 38:26SPEAKER_03: Doesn't look happy.
- 38:27SPEAKER_03: Body language doesn't look happy in a 9 or a 10.
- 38:31SPEAKER_03: I think get him out there, get our people, create it.
- 38:35SPEAKER_03: Also, Harper needs to come out of midfield.
- 38:37SPEAKER_03: Again, it's no slant on him, but I think Elliott's not giving himself the best possible chance with the supporters by repeating mistakes previously made.
- 38:47SPEAKER_03: Um, I think probably if he thinks Harper's better than Lowe's, fair enough, but I think Lowe's should have gone in there if that's his only one.
- 38:56SPEAKER_03: Um yeah, I think Bunker, Aziz, and McCadam would be my midfield three because Bunker seems to have a knack for scoring goals.
- 39:08SPEAKER_03: McCadam does, they're all big units, Aziz can play.
- 39:11SPEAKER_03: I think you're powerful and technically okay.
- 39:14SPEAKER_03: I think that is it.
- 39:16SPEAKER_03: And on Elliott, I'll trust the process.
- 39:18SPEAKER_03: It's not his fault, but when he says trust the process, we've heard the same stuff for three years, so that's why fans get a little bit triggered by it.
- 39:26SPEAKER_03: On that though, I still feel we'll get a good result Saturday, and I think we'll be in the mix.
- 39:32SPEAKER_03: It just hasn't started great.
- 39:36SPEAKER_01: Well, there we go.
- 39:38SPEAKER_03: Um I I'm I'm completely torn, I'll be honest.
- 39:41SPEAKER_03: I'm completely, I don't know where where we go.
- 39:43SPEAKER_01: It's early doors, innit?
- 39:44SPEAKER_01: And yeah, new manager and new staff and stuff, so you don't want to go overboard, but first two games, you think winnable games, aren't they?
- 39:51SPEAKER_01: Like especially the home game and then gonna we're gonna be able to do it but I watched most of the game Saturday and I just felt like they didn't look like a team that were like gonna go and win the league.
- 40:02SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
- 40:02SPEAKER_01: Like they didn't look like they're gonna they believe it, the way they played, the way like they just said the body line was and stuff.
- 40:08SPEAKER_01: It was almost like try to just kind of like we'll just try to get a result here and we'll kind of defend and they had a lot of the ball.
- 40:14SPEAKER_01: And I I I don't know.
- 40:16SPEAKER_01: I was just it's but the first time I'd seen seen Carleo play and I thought, let's see what they're all about, do you know what I mean?
- 40:21SPEAKER_01: And as a team you expect to go and try win the league.
- 40:24SPEAKER_01: I was expecting a wee bit more.
- 40:26SPEAKER_01: A wee bit more.
- 40:27SPEAKER_04: Just when you mentioned there the Linny situation, you scored 19 goals last year.
- 40:33SPEAKER_04: And yeah, from that left side.
- 40:35SPEAKER_04: So you you know, if that's the main area where goals are coming from, maybe you're right.
- 40:39SPEAKER_04: But even if you start them there and you you move them, you know, in a game as a manager, depending on the way the game's going, you need to tweak certain things or rotate players before you even make changes, make substitution, you can rotate them around.
- 40:51SPEAKER_04: Um, but yeah, I think from the wording game, initially Carlisle in the first half were just they there was an identity in the way to which they played, they were on top, they were so uh powerful, they looked it looked like Worthen just had no idea what to do when they got the ball because they were getting smothered.
- 41:07SPEAKER_04: Linny's best work was out on that left side, just drifting out because he could overload that side, and as he's making the runs into the channel, um Carlisle scored to go one up a 42nd minute, and then Linny gets a chance straight after it within the two minutes and hits the bar.
- 41:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah, 2-0.
- 41:23SPEAKER_04: Could have been now.
- 41:23SPEAKER_04: I listened to you last week and I totally disagreed with what you said at half time of what the manager should be saying because the three of you sort of agreed, did you not?
- 41:34SPEAKER_03: Well, we got more of the same, more of the same.
- 41:38SPEAKER_04: So when I was listening to that, I was going, no, no, because I like thinking that about it as a coach, you'd be saying, No, these cannot be as bad as what they were in the first half.
- 41:48SPEAKER_04: We cannot sit back and think this is gonna be easy, we need to make sure because their their manager's always gonna try and tweak something.
- 41:54SPEAKER_04: I just think they didn't have the play, like probably naive of me, but looking at their team and bench, even if they didn't even if they didn't, psychologically, if you just say to a group of players, just more of the same, you know, seconds coming, it's gonna be easy, it's gonna be easy because that's what you'll think.
- 42:10SPEAKER_01: Complacent and I think that that 45 is going to be the same as the first 45 on you.
- 42:13SPEAKER_03: I don't think the manager needs to say anything, though.
- 42:15SPEAKER_03: I'm a big believer in the dressing room running itself a little bit, and going and having characters like your Kelly going, okay.
- 42:24SPEAKER_03: Now we should be further up.
- 42:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we we we turn the we turn the screw a bit more.
- 42:28SPEAKER_04: But you know, and you we all know that in teams when it's a little bit easier, so say if you're on top and it's it's easy, one or two, even three players start to cheat a little bit because I'm gonna I'm gonna get a chance, I'm not gonna track back as much because I'm gonna get it on the other side.
- 42:43SPEAKER_04: Maybe start doing things they wouldn't normally do, and that's what seemed to happen.
- 42:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah, the spaces opened up, they got a bit more confidence in the midfield, and all of a sudden they score.
- 42:52SPEAKER_04: Just as Rob Elliott was gonna make a change, he was bringing Wearn on, he's gonna make that change to try and stifle the what had just happened for Warden getting on top.
- 43:01SPEAKER_04: They score, puts Warden on or Warren on, doesn't really change because I still think well, they've already getting on top.
- 43:09SPEAKER_01: Shouldn't but is it because I think that's a good point.
- 43:12SPEAKER_01: That is a good point because when you when you expect the game to go the way it's just been for 45 minutes, and we all know like football's not like that.
- 43:21SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
- 43:22SPEAKER_01: You're on top of 45, you've got to put teams away, and then you're gonna as you said, expect a reaction of their manager gonna tweak things or give them a kick at the arch.
- 43:32SPEAKER_03: I mean, and you know what?
- 43:33SPEAKER_03: I think it's great from their manager and great from their players because I remember when we've worn teams down and you're just waiting for the second half to go and batter them again.
- 43:41SPEAKER_04: So they've regrouped to be fair.
- 43:43SPEAKER_04: So we I even uh spoke to their director, one of their directors on the Saturday night.
- 43:48SPEAKER_04: I went out with uh my wife and Alan Casey went out into Carlisle, where it's just sitting in a pub and uh turned out the directors and uh their investor were just sitting to the left of us.
- 43:58SPEAKER_04: So we ended up talking and uh The director said, I wouldn't be surprised if our manager had set us up that way.
- 44:05SPEAKER_04: Just get through the first half, just get through the first half, and then we'll come out and play in the second.
- 44:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 44:09SPEAKER_04: And I was like, if that if the manager has done that, that's brilliant.
- 44:13SPEAKER_04: Because it's very brave.
- 44:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 44:14SPEAKER_04: Because it could have been 3-0 down.
- 44:16SPEAKER_04: But they had nothing to lose.
- 44:17SPEAKER_03: Do you think you might have gone for like the 20-minute mark where the paddock turns and stuff?
- 44:21SPEAKER_03: But because Color were playing so well and creating a bit, we were on side.
- 44:26SPEAKER_03: I think on Saturday, if we're not at 1-0 up in 20 minutes, it's a different.
- 44:30SPEAKER_03: I think the booze do.
- 44:32SPEAKER_01: That's your team talking into most games, isn't it?
- 44:34SPEAKER_01: And that's the the problem you've been, the problem you've got of being at a big club in a league is teams come and they know, especially home games, we can frustrate them.
- 44:43SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
- 44:43SPEAKER_01: If we first game of the season, everybody's buzzing.
- 44:45SPEAKER_01: If we can keep it nice and tight, don't give them too many chances, they'll they'll turn.
- 44:49SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
- 44:50SPEAKER_01: And then we we regroup and no matter who you're playing against, they'll always get a chance.
- 44:54SPEAKER_03: I think the mentality's right.
- 44:56SPEAKER_03: I said last week, playing for Carlisle, it's not like playing free normal.
- 45:00SPEAKER_03: Like I played for Barnes, I think there's more pressure playing for Carlisle.
- 45:02SPEAKER_04: There is in this league.
- 45:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah, off, yeah.
- 45:05SPEAKER_04: It used to be totally different, especially going the last couple of years, isn't it?
- 45:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 45:08SPEAKER_03: I think our League One, when we nearly went up, we had a bit of leeway.
- 45:12SPEAKER_03: But I still even think League Two, when we got to the top, it was like a demand bit.
- 45:16SPEAKER_03: But now we're in the National League when we were you had to win it.
- 45:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but when we went down to the conference, I wasn't involved, son.
- 45:24SPEAKER_04: I'm talking we as Carlisle United.
- 45:26SPEAKER_04: Alright.
- 45:27SPEAKER_04: I was he only he only fits a bit.
- 45:31SPEAKER_04: When we went down to the conference, we had a unbelievable second half of the season with momentum.
- 45:37SPEAKER_04: Momentum.
- 45:37SPEAKER_04: Then they but the players that he signed, the experience that he signed, you know, to change everything to professionalism.
- 45:42SPEAKER_04: Like he brought Andy Priest in as well, wasn't it?
- 45:44SPEAKER_04: That had been a manager.
- 45:45SPEAKER_03: Andy Priest was a manager of Berry, manager, player manager got sacked.
- 45:49SPEAKER_03: Simo got him the week later.
- 45:51SPEAKER_03: Who did the play?
- 45:52SPEAKER_03: No.
- 45:52SPEAKER_03: Berry, who scored?
- 45:54SPEAKER_04: Why is football like that?
- 45:56SPEAKER_04: You couldn't rate it.
- 45:57SPEAKER_04: But it's so like you would say that's very brave by Simo to bring the manager managers.
- 46:01SPEAKER_04: They could be after the judge.
- 46:02SPEAKER_04: Simo was very but Priest was an unbelievable character as well.
- 46:05SPEAKER_04: It was brilliant.
- 46:06SPEAKER_03: He'd like he wouldn't be wanting to stab anybody in the back, you know, just certain different characters in very brave because Peter Beards he never get Jeff Jeff Half was this.
- 46:14SPEAKER_03: Peter Beardzi never used to get offered jobs when he was at uh even playing roles at 34, 35, 36, sorry, 36, 37, 38, because they always thought he'd take their job.
- 46:25SPEAKER_03: If he's in the building.
- 46:25SPEAKER_03: Now Simmo's like, no, whatever's good for the team, and I think that's how it always should be.
- 46:29SPEAKER_03: If you're comfortable in your own skin, comfortable in your own job, this goes right to any club, to Carlisle right through.
- 46:35SPEAKER_03: If you're comfortable in your own skin and in your own job, bring in people who are going to make it better.
- 46:40SPEAKER_03: That always happens with football, isn't it?
- 46:42SPEAKER_01: It's like people protect people who protect ourselves when they don't want certain people in the door because they'll feel threatened, in it.
- 46:49SPEAKER_01: But if you if you're doing your job proper and you believe in what you're doing, if that's the right person, then you can't have enough good people in your club.
- 46:56SPEAKER_04: Well, I made a good sign in a few years back when I was at Anne as a manager, Willie Gibson.
- 47:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 47:01SPEAKER_04: So Willie Gibson had been manager at Queen of the South, been a like unbelievable player, played who was at Celtic Nation, and um brought him in sec for the second half of the season, and he just took us from right back there, played back right back.
- 47:14SPEAKER_04: He used to be a winger, didn't he?
- 47:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah, winger.
- 47:17SPEAKER_04: And he took us from there to there, got helped to get us promoted.
- 47:20SPEAKER_04: And then when I spoke to him, I was like, Yeah, there could be an opportunity for you as manager here in the future.
- 47:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but come in, give us because he still plays now, yeah, and he is the manager, which was a succession plan as well.
- 47:31SPEAKER_04: But yeah, you know, bringing a player like that, bringing a player like pre-seen for the young players that we had in the change room.
- 47:38SPEAKER_04: Then it was like the Kev Gray's, the Siebes, the Tom Kelnes, Henderson's, yeah, just brought in the right characters for a change room because as you said over your time here, a change room should be able to manage itself.
- 47:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and the best teams have great changes rooms that do manage themselves.
- 47:52SPEAKER_04: Simmo did did really well at that.
- 47:54SPEAKER_03: Well, that's took us on a great.
- 47:56SPEAKER_03: So, Murph, you have been manager now for many years.
- 47:59SPEAKER_03: Game promotion with Annan, manager at Queen of the South, coached and mentored Owen Moxon and really pushed Carlisle to take him.
- 48:07SPEAKER_03: So, have you noticed a change in approach from players, managers, or both?
- 48:11SPEAKER_03: Just tell us a quick story about on Owen.
- 48:14SPEAKER_03: You rang Simmo, didn't you?
- 48:15SPEAKER_03: You had Moxon at Annan.
- 48:17SPEAKER_03: He was a UPS driver.
- 48:19SPEAKER_04: Five seasons I had Moxie Owen when he came in at first.
- 48:24SPEAKER_04: Um just being he was just trying to get into the Queen of the South team, didn't really get in, came to us, and he wasn't the player obviously that he ended up being.
- 48:32SPEAKER_04: So our staff and myself worked with him and worked with him a lot.
- 48:37SPEAKER_04: Is that technically?
- 48:38SPEAKER_04: Physically, was he always a decent size?
- 48:41SPEAKER_04: He was, but he was still young, so mentally as well.
- 48:46SPEAKER_04: So Moxie, because at the start, Moxie's a midfielder.
- 48:49SPEAKER_04: So say if you're a midfielder that wants to show how good you are, and you two years want to show how good you are, and you you're opening up the first ping.
- 48:56SPEAKER_04: And trying to yeah, you'll play a ball, it doesn't happen.
- 48:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 48:59SPEAKER_04: So then the next one gets on the ball, tries something special again, and then all of a sudden my game's you've had three passes where just get the quick.
- 49:06SPEAKER_04: So we used to just be going, right, yeah, four or five five-yard passes, and then all of a sudden you go, I'm back in the game.
- 49:10SPEAKER_04: I know my good player again.
- 49:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 49:12SPEAKER_04: Just all the small little things as a midfielder.
- 49:14SPEAKER_04: So then uh Moxie did have a I used to do after every training session, we used to do free kicks, competitions, free kicks, not just with Moxie, there's three or four lads, and we'd do for a Lucasai.
- 49:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 49:25SPEAKER_04: You know, whoever ends up losing.
- 49:27SPEAKER_04: So me and Moxie, we did that for years, and near the end, like I used to always beat Moxie, but near the end, the last season or season and a half, Moxie's putting me under pressure and cost me a bit of money.
- 49:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you know, like it was just because I'm getting a bit older, you know.
- 49:40SPEAKER_04: But no, he but he me Moxie had a year out.
- 49:44SPEAKER_04: He had a year out of like a gap between us where he was he he missed a full year, and I think that when you're thinking about psychologically, because he was so frustrated at missing games, yeah.
- 49:54SPEAKER_04: He was going he was going to watch Carlisle games when we were playing, because he at times he had to say, Don't come and watch us because you're so frustrated, go and watch the Carlisle game.
- 50:01SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 50:01SPEAKER_04: And uh in that year, he developed physically.
- 50:04SPEAKER_04: He came back going, I'm gonna show how good a player I am.
- 50:07SPEAKER_04: You messed it.
- 50:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 50:08SPEAKER_04: He was what, 23 then?
- 50:10SPEAKER_03: 22, 23.
- 50:11SPEAKER_03: Oh, he must have been younger than that, no.
- 50:12SPEAKER_04: Oh, because I think you've got to make it.
- 50:14SPEAKER_04: We still had him another two seasons.
- 50:15SPEAKER_04: Oh, sorry, right.
- 50:16SPEAKER_04: All right, because then we changed uh my the way my team, the players I brought in, we developed, we started dominating the ball.
- 50:22SPEAKER_04: We played a 4-3-3 dominating the ball and had him as a deep line midfielder that he was just dictating play, like teams couldn't get near him, and then the last season they managed to keep him.
- 50:31SPEAKER_04: He was supposed to go to uh Queen's Park.
- 50:34SPEAKER_04: There was uh Ray McKinney.
- 50:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 50:37SPEAKER_04: Was there did really well at Queen's Park, but then we got sacked, yeah.
- 50:40SPEAKER_04: But he got sacked just after like doing really well with them.
- 50:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he did, yeah.
- 50:43SPEAKER_04: So that fell through for Moxie.
- 50:44SPEAKER_04: I managed to keep him, and the only way I got got to keep him was there was uh a lady that was helping out with the mental health side of the Libby, yeah.
- 50:54SPEAKER_04: Sorry, is it his auntie?
- 50:56SPEAKER_04: No, no.
- 50:56SPEAKER_04: Uh Libby ended up putting a bit of money like 45 quid or something like that in to what towards towards his wages because she felt you know another year would mentor him and stay in a yeah good environment.
- 51:09SPEAKER_04: So then in that year he was unplayable, came back in the pre-season, we're doing runs, and like young boys nowadays are fit, yeah, and Moxie's still like he was meant to go to Hotley Pool, wasn't he?
- 51:18SPEAKER_04: I'm not sure.
- 51:20SPEAKER_04: You but you went in at the time, so yeah.
- 51:23SPEAKER_04: So we had that season, he got in the team of the year, uh team of the year again.
- 51:27SPEAKER_04: He was unbelievable, and then I knew he was running out of his contract, he was over 24.
- 51:31SPEAKER_04: That was like so the Bosman to then go, so Annan wouldn't get any money for him.
- 51:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and I the the second of day the season had finished the next day.
- 51:39SPEAKER_04: I went in seeing Sino in his office and just said, You need to sign him, you need to sign him because he's frightening.
- 51:46SPEAKER_04: Got to the point in training where he just like hold him.
- 51:49SPEAKER_03: Well, I said when when he made his day like his first couple of games for Carlisle, obviously it was quicker, but what he had in his locker where he's given his five, six games to get used to it, he could hold them off.
- 51:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah, give him that little bit.
- 52:01SPEAKER_01: It got him out of trouble a couple of times, yeah.
- 52:03SPEAKER_01: Of course, sometimes he was good technically, but sometimes it would get away from him, or like he would try a pass and he would go hunt it down.
- 52:10SPEAKER_01: But he had that physically, but where he would just get a coast to people and ragdoll them about.
- 52:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but that was the stuff that was the other side of it, though he he'd always we'd we'd always said to him about to just leave something on somebody.
- 52:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so like if Dylan's gonna pass the ball and they would go in, just make sure give him a badge, give him a badge.
- 52:25SPEAKER_04: Fucking it just but again, just because that's a uh it's a side of the game that you don't really talk about too much at all.
- 52:31SPEAKER_04: Like that's let them know your presence and that in it.
- 52:34SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 52:34SPEAKER_04: So is the next time you're having a look over your shoulder, yeah.
- 52:37SPEAKER_03: Uh both of you, because you're in the game still has uh I leave them alone.
- 52:43SPEAKER_03: About what I said there, the approach have you had to change your approach with players.
- 52:48SPEAKER_03: You said football's changed the last five, six yeah.
- 52:50SPEAKER_03: In the dressing room, it's been like I I want to go in on this kid.
- 52:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think it's play obviously it's inside you, do you know what I mean?
- 52:58SPEAKER_01: Like still now, like more so I went to Balamina last year and over in Northern Ireland stuff, and you can see the culture and not uh Forest Green a little bit when I was there.
- 53:07SPEAKER_01: Like, younger lads are just they're just different, they come through different systems, and you can't photos after games.
- 53:13SPEAKER_01: Like they're putting stuff on Instagram and vid, like boys are they're getting beat, and then you see the next day they're putting videos on Instagram, they're dancing about the changing rooms and stuff, and you're like, is it a lost cause?
- 53:23SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
- 53:24SPEAKER_01: Like, is it worth me going in and going mental and losing lads, or do you do you just accept and try try bring the culture in a different way instead of just shouting?
- 53:36SPEAKER_01: Do you try to coach them and teach them a different way?
- 53:38SPEAKER_04: Well, I think the game has changed, and if you look at it through COVID, alright, because I managed through COVID, which was a really difficult period, but with the amount of players at home, social media became massive, huge personal training.
- 53:52SPEAKER_04: Uh players having to uh run on their own, you know.
- 53:56SPEAKER_04: Uh I think up in Scottie McLaughlin, you know Scott McCyp AI up in Scotland, he was 5K's, but he's posting them nearly every day, and it became a thing that all players post their 5Ks and all.
- 54:07SPEAKER_04: So I went for one, didn't even you still won it.
- 54:10SPEAKER_01: You travel still running.
- 54:11SPEAKER_01: See, I was moon walking.
- 54:12SPEAKER_01: Fucked.
- 54:13SPEAKER_01: But you poised it, didn't you?
- 54:14SPEAKER_01: One of them stop, have a break, go ahead.
- 54:16SPEAKER_03: Oh, I wasn't art, I didn't even complete it.
- 54:17SPEAKER_03: In fact, I was quite proud when everyone's posting these times, I haven't even finished it.
- 54:22SPEAKER_01: You're thinking just giving it a ball, I'll deal with the bowls.
- 54:26SPEAKER_04: But that's where it's I I believe it's totally changed from those kids like younger ones that are developing now and a bit older because all through that period we were I was managing you're bringing players in for an hour and a half with everybody separate, yeah.
- 54:40SPEAKER_04: Couldn't be in the change rooms to get these and fools, yeah.
- 54:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it was like the little clusters.
- 54:45SPEAKER_04: Uh people became isolated, but also became a bit more together because of social media.
- 54:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I get that.
- 54:51SPEAKER_04: So then that posting, you've got to realise that that posting is their life.
- 54:55SPEAKER_04: So we're a different period.
- 54:57SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 54:58SPEAKER_04: You know, we come up, you were saying there if why would I do that?
- 55:00SPEAKER_04: And you know, because you would just go you're used to doing your own stuff, and you don't need anybody you don't need to post it for anybody to see it.
- 55:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but I'm just these kids have grown up, that's what they do.
- 55:09SPEAKER_04: So yeah, I've played a game and I've done the sister or whatever and they're posting that, even though you got beat, because being relevant or being uh active on social media keeps you in the limelight, and it's part of that's the day now.
- 55:21SPEAKER_01: It's part of the profile now, innit?
- 55:23SPEAKER_01: I think like us as play like mostly back, but like you played your profile is about how you played and how you performed.
- 55:29SPEAKER_01: Now players' profiles is like the social media following the agents putting pictures.
- 55:34SPEAKER_03: You know what I got told the other day, and I'm not gonna disclose it.
- 55:37SPEAKER_03: Agent had two players, both the same ability.
- 55:40SPEAKER_03: In fact, one of them probably had better stats.
- 55:42SPEAKER_03: The team signed him because of his social media following and saying this this the strips he'd sell compared to the other one.
- 55:50SPEAKER_04: I was like, Yeah, but do you remember uh remember Lee Trundle?
- 55:55SPEAKER_04: Aye, yeah, but he was good though, yeah.
- 55:58SPEAKER_04: But when he was at Swansea, the contract.
- 56:01SPEAKER_02: Were you not picking him up in that final?
- 56:02SPEAKER_02: Doctor's no care wasn't he?
- 56:04SPEAKER_03: Oh, there he goes, back to the smoke.
- 56:06SPEAKER_03: How we get to the millennium, eh?
- 56:08SPEAKER_03: Where they played the community shield.
- 56:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah, let's keep it tight.
- 56:10SPEAKER_03: Because Swansea were like a league above us or flying.
- 56:13SPEAKER_03: I went, keep it tight, eh?
- 56:14SPEAKER_03: Second minute, on keep Trundle quiet.
- 56:17SPEAKER_03: Um, no worries, I will bang, top corner past Kieran.
- 56:21SPEAKER_03: I went brilliant.
- 56:21SPEAKER_03: So where's me now?
- 56:22SPEAKER_05: Was it playing centre back?
- 56:23SPEAKER_05: Was it that day?
- 56:24SPEAKER_05: Were you playing?
- 56:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, aye, so there we play left wing.
- 56:30SPEAKER_04: He had some positions you but Trundle signed a contract at Swansea, and then nobody because he was a member.
- 56:35SPEAKER_04: There was do you do you remember Lee Trundle at all?
- 56:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I do.
- 56:38SPEAKER_04: He was on show boats every week.
- 56:41SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but like you know in uh schools at Welsh.
- 56:44SPEAKER_03: No, no, it's who's that, Tomlin or something, isn't it?
- 56:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he is um, yeah, I know what you mean, but he's still playing in Wales, yeah in Wales, yeah.
- 56:51SPEAKER_04: But he was at Swansea and had the rights to any shirt sales as well.
- 56:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so he he couldn't really go anywhere else because he couldn't afford to take them, even higher up.
- 57:00SPEAKER_04: They couldn't afford because he was earning so much money standards.
- 57:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 57:04SPEAKER_03: First ever one to have it.
- 57:05SPEAKER_03: Because for Swansea is well, where he was, they went to the new stadium, yeah, and they had 20,000, so it like great village.
- 57:12SPEAKER_04: But it just if that's the start of it, but you can understand that these days because even signing players now it's data, data driven, looking at the character, the model, and you know, which we spoke about this.
- 57:24SPEAKER_01: Like, I'd come in like at Forest Green and stuff, we'd get beat, and then boys are like, Oh, I I had like 17 successful passes, my my past success was like whatever it was.
- 57:34SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
- 57:35SPEAKER_01: I'm like, Yeah, but we've we got beat, like, and then they're buzzing about like certain stats.
- 57:39SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
- 57:40SPEAKER_03: I'm like, but did you not say something a uh a year or two back that uh if you were a Jesus Christ Myth, is it you depicted it was like I'm not attacking looking at my uh window like that?
- 57:50SPEAKER_03: I say something every night I think it's a ram off by the way because they're sticking rambles.
- 57:55SPEAKER_04: You did you not say that like uh agents and uh clubs are looking at now for an 18-year-old that will travel with the ball for 2500 five I mean it's successful dribbles and all this kind of stuff?
- 58:06SPEAKER_03: Not agents, clubs are clubs aren't, yeah.
- 58:08SPEAKER_03: So it triggers is this analogically so when you're yeah, so if if a kid or a player's saying I've had that, it's maybe because their agent has said in the right the right back was brilliant because he went, Alright, to trigger my like so someone watches is I've got to run 80 yards now, but my mate's in space and I'll pass it.
- 58:25SPEAKER_03: So I'm gonna pass it.
- 58:26SPEAKER_03: And he was like slagging off the system.
- 58:28SPEAKER_04: So why when you've got to move him actually, yeah.
- 58:30SPEAKER_04: So I was like getting that and going, That's right, that can't be right.
- 58:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah, can't be right because you've got to choose the right.
- 58:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, he chose the right path.
- 58:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 58:38SPEAKER_00: But we know players who wouldn't.
- 58:40SPEAKER_00: We've all played with players who wouldn't.
- 58:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 58:43SPEAKER_01: It's agents, as you said, it's agents, and I'll try to get you a move.
- 58:46SPEAKER_01: You need to you need to be a certain type of player, like just go dribble all the time.
- 58:50SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
- 58:51SPEAKER_01: Maybe when it's not on, do you know you've given it away a few times, or like there's two, it's a 2v1, you're still trying to dribble.
- 58:56SPEAKER_03: I still argue with Lee Fern a little bit, like nicely.
- 58:58SPEAKER_03: I'd left Col by that and I went, he went, yeah, with defence midfielders not getting the miles we want.
- 59:04SPEAKER_03: I went, Yeah, but you're 3-0 up.
- 59:06SPEAKER_03: I says, why should Thur hit that?
- 59:08SPEAKER_03: Or Thurwell or Berrett or whatever?
- 59:10SPEAKER_03: Why should he hit you know what someone like Jason Kennedy, someone like that, I says, or Joycey, why should he hit that number when you're three-nil up?
- 59:18SPEAKER_03: Because it's three-l up, I'm a shot of change.
- 59:22SPEAKER_03: I'm thinking, you know what, I'm not gonna get injured now, I'm not gonna hit me, but I'm not bothered.
- 59:26SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna keep tight, I'll get this back for the win, but like the clean shit, I'll help them out and just things like that.
- 59:32SPEAKER_03: And then now it's all geared about kind of personal stuff.
- 59:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but yes, anyway, there was an interview, uh Gary Bowyard during the week.
- 59:41SPEAKER_04: I don't know if you've seen it.
- 59:41SPEAKER_04: Who's the manager now?
- 59:42SPEAKER_04: Boston, is it?
- 59:44SPEAKER_04: Burton.
- 59:45SPEAKER_03: Burton.
- 59:45SPEAKER_03: Cheers, Jeff.
- 59:46SPEAKER_04: He did uh Jeff Half in the background about the and take the people about the data, about the data.
- 59:51SPEAKER_04: He he has no link to the recruitment that's he decided.
- 59:54SPEAKER_04: He goes to someone else or something, doesn't he?
- 59:55SPEAKER_04: He has to go to somebody else to go to the recruitment.
- 59:58SPEAKER_04: Um but he was saying about like character, just like you said, how can you on a data, how can you find out about somebody's character?
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_04: How can you judge them?
- 1:00:05SPEAKER_04: Because we all know that when you're in when you're in deep under pressure, and you know who can stand up and be counted, uh, who buckles, yeah, you know, who goes missing, who then gets the ball, and you what you're a winger and you want them to dribble and instead just could pass it back, get away from me as quick as possible.
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_04: That's how you you need to go and watch players and horrible state if you can correlate it all.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I just shout it to him or whoever I'm get them off.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_01: Ah, you're good.
- 1:00:31SPEAKER_01: You've said that a few times, you were like looking right at the bench and that it's just get them off, they've gone, they can see the white to their eyes, they've gone, like get them off.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_01: That's horrible, in it.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_03: One though.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_03: There's some but on a summer's day, you want them in their your team.
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah, when everything's going well.
- 1:00:45SPEAKER_03: When everything's going well, you're like, take me off because these are absolutely pissing it.
- 1:00:49unknown: Yeah.
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_03: Anyway, we'll go into who am I?
- 1:00:53SPEAKER_03: Hughes are not getting any of these.
- 1:00:55SPEAKER_01: How are you at these?
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_01: Jeff, do you want to join in?
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_03: We need the help.
- 1:00:59SPEAKER_03: Adam, you can join in if you want, because these two clowns.
- 1:01:03SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_03: First one, including loans.
- 1:01:07SPEAKER_03: I bought these today, man.
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_03: Anyway, West Ham United, Swindon Town, Birmingham City, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United.
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_03: So you obviously got to focus on the Prem.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_03: Tottenham to Man United.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_03: West Ham United, Tottenham, Man United.
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_03: Eh?
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_03: 1-0 Jeff.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_03: Go on, Jeff.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_03: I'll tell you a story about Jeff.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_03: My first story, my first story.
- 1:01:36SPEAKER_03: My first day at Carlisle United.
- 1:01:39SPEAKER_03: So Simo's like absolutely pulled off the signing of the century.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_03: But I still haven't signed a contract, right?
- 1:01:46SPEAKER_03: So I've got there, I've walked in.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_03: He's went, You're just with Jeff today in the morning.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_03: I went, No, you bother.
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_03: Just a dance class.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_03: Aye.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_03: Went in.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_03: Legendary.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_03: So 30 seconds of waits or 30 seconds of sit-ups, and then the music's on and you're dancing.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_03: Luckily, I've got a bit of rhythm, but I was watching people like Shelly, and that just they're just all over the place.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_03: But aye, and then had my dinner, and I thought, right, get the ball out.
- 1:02:10SPEAKER_03: Noise are up the sands for spinning.
- 1:02:12SPEAKER_03: It's like, what a first day this is, like.
- 1:02:17SPEAKER_03: Right, Jeff?
- 1:02:20SPEAKER_03: Cardiff City, West Brom, Norwich City, Derby County, Nottenham Forest, Cardiff City, Toronto, Blackpool.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_03: You played against them.
- 1:02:33SPEAKER_03: I'll say it again.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_03: Toronto, Blackpool.
- 1:02:37SPEAKER_03: Cardiff City, West Brom, Norwich, Derby County, Nottenham Forest, Cardiff City, Toronto, Blackpool.
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_03: You got a Jeff, or not?
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_03: Do you want to hint?
- 1:02:51SPEAKER_03: It's Welsh.
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_03: Who must know is he's the answer to a very good quiz question regarding Hatrix.
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_03: Who scored a hat trick and the Premier League, League One, Championship, League Two.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_03: Or the League.
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_03: Europe League.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:03:17SPEAKER_03: Welsh International.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_03: You done?
- 1:03:21SPEAKER_03: Robert Earnshaw.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_04: Oh my god, I would have said that under my breath here to you.
- 1:03:25SPEAKER_04: You'll pick it up on the mic later.
- 1:03:27SPEAKER_04: Then I was like, I don't even know if he's Welsh.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_03: Last one.
- 1:03:30SPEAKER_03: Last one.
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_03: Arsenal.
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_03: Bristol City.
- 1:03:35SPEAKER_03: Newcastle United.
- 1:03:36SPEAKER_03: Manchester United.
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_03: Blackburn Rovers.
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_03: Fulham.
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_03: Man City, Portsmouth, Sunderland, Nottingham Forest.
- 1:03:46SPEAKER_03: Last club, he was with Ward Joe.
- 1:03:48SPEAKER_03: Ward Joe Garner.
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_03: So he was obviously a veteran.
- 1:03:53SPEAKER_03: Joe was an 18-year-old lunatic.
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_03: Arsenal?
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_03: Bristol City.
- 1:04:02SPEAKER_03: Shall I just do the Prems?
- 1:04:07SPEAKER_01: We should have got that a bit further.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_03: Some good gold records, you know.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_03: He went to Castle United, he paid suddenly favored Manchester United, he paid for Man City.
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_03: When was it Man City?
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_03: Do you remember the years?
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_03: 2008?
- 1:04:25SPEAKER_03: Keegan was it?
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_03: Keegan probably both, aye.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_03: Which club has been relegated from the Premier League the most times?
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_01: Not in Forest.
- 1:04:33SPEAKER_03: No.
- 1:04:36SPEAKER_03: Think of bounce back.
- 1:04:38SPEAKER_03: Some teams that can bounce back for both.
- 1:04:43SPEAKER_03: Have a rest.
- 1:04:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, go on.
- 1:04:47SPEAKER_03: Come on.
- 1:04:49SPEAKER_03: Close.
- 1:04:51SPEAKER_03: Second top.
- 1:04:53SPEAKER_03: West Brom and Leicester five.
- 1:04:55SPEAKER_03: There's a team with six.
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_03: You should get this.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_03: They were relegated 95, 2005.
- 1:05:02SPEAKER_03: We were out on the piss after we won the playoff final.
- 1:05:05SPEAKER_03: Um Ukrainian club and Fulham put seven past them on the last day of the season when they were trying to stay up.
- 1:05:13SPEAKER_03: 2014, 2016, 2002, 2020.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_03: Ex teammate of mine manager.
- 1:05:18SPEAKER_03: Sundate of mine managed them.
- 1:05:27SPEAKER_03: Norwich with six.
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_03: How did I know that?
- 1:05:31SPEAKER_03: Alex Neal?
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_03: Clown Watch, Dylan McGillch.
- 1:05:36SPEAKER_03: A quick one.
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_03: O'Hara and Agball in the hall.
- 1:05:39SPEAKER_03: Brennan Johnson's put them to town.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_01: Oh, and they had a nibble, haven't they?
- 1:05:43SPEAKER_03: Had a nibble.
- 1:05:44SPEAKER_03: So it was a the deal with the.
- 1:05:46SPEAKER_03: Brennan Johnson has gone from Crystal Palace to Everton.
- 1:05:50SPEAKER_03: Dwight McNeil has gone the other way, and O'Hara's gone, you're you're swapping crap for crap.
- 1:05:56SPEAKER_03: So Brennan Johnson's put have one more than these two put together in a With the Europa Cup, is it?
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_03: Class.
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_03: It's class.
- 1:06:04SPEAKER_03: And they've went like to be fair.
- 1:06:08SPEAKER_03: He went roller tapes and he went, I'm completely like not involved.
- 1:06:12SPEAKER_03: He went, I've laughed.
- 1:06:13SPEAKER_01: It was harder, wasn't it?
- 1:06:14SPEAKER_01: It was harder.
- 1:06:15SPEAKER_01: He came out though, didn't he, and said that I didn't see they were crap players.
- 1:06:19SPEAKER_01: They had a crap season.
- 1:06:20SPEAKER_04: I know, but it's good for uh the media, make a statement like that, right?
- 1:06:26SPEAKER_03: Quick one.
- 1:06:28SPEAKER_03: Just we'll talk about Simmo there.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_03: I just want to know.
- 1:06:31SPEAKER_03: We're going to when we get you back on properly, but I just want to know, you know, the Roddy to the Simmo effect.
- 1:06:35SPEAKER_03: I just want to know that because it's leading on to something else.
- 1:06:39SPEAKER_03: Like, what was the change?
- 1:06:41SPEAKER_03: Was the change overnight from Roddy's drinking buddies on the piss to right lads?
- 1:06:48SPEAKER_03: Or did he kind of ease his way in?
- 1:06:50SPEAKER_03: I just say, right, I know what the crack is, I know who drinks, I know who doesn't.
- 1:06:55SPEAKER_04: So so Simo's change.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah, because uh Did Simmo bring someone in straight?
- 1:06:59SPEAKER_03: Did he bring Jin John Moore in straight away, or did he keep bugsy in that, or did they go?
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_01: He went from playing straight to manager, yeah.
- 1:07:06SPEAKER_01: Took over, took over as manager straight away.
- 1:07:09SPEAKER_01: That must have been difficult though, eh?
- 1:07:11SPEAKER_01: Like to have that.
- 1:07:12SPEAKER_01: Well, you obviously know better than me.
- 1:07:13SPEAKER_01: Like, but he knew he's at all been on he knew.
- 1:07:15SPEAKER_01: So he did.
- 1:07:16SPEAKER_04: He he did another run one Monday after knowing that like lads had been out because he there was the there was the stigma of there was a drinking culture.
- 1:07:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and everybody was like stigma.
- 1:07:27SPEAKER_04: Oh well, there was oh but the the the stigma of the drinking culture, but then it was the manager.
- 1:07:31SPEAKER_04: So Roddy had success in Ireland, in Ireland, because they played Friday.
- 1:07:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, I get it.
- 1:07:35SPEAKER_04: So he it'd be out after the game.
- 1:07:36SPEAKER_04: No, no, I get Peter Reed had it, so then we did, yeah, yeah.
- 1:07:38SPEAKER_04: So it was like that's the way he'd got success.
- 1:07:40SPEAKER_04: So we tried to bring it in over here, but then your Northeast boys would like Roddy the first time I had Guinness was with Roddy because we went over to the Beehive after the train session one time.
- 1:07:50SPEAKER_04: He was like, Great, after we've got some iron back into you.
- 1:07:52SPEAKER_04: Guinness is the best for that.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_04: And it's trying to both size.
- 1:07:55SPEAKER_04: He was trying to get all the the Northeast boys to have Guinness, so they'd have like one, but they're all going back like over to the Northeast to driving it.
- 1:08:01SPEAKER_04: So they might have got sucked in had they lived in Carlisle.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_04: Had they lived in Carlisle, but also if they didn't go out, if you lived in Carlisle and you didn't go out a lot, Roddy'd be like, Well, don't trust why don't you why don't you try and why don't I see you out for a pint with us?
- 1:08:14SPEAKER_04: Because Roddy wanted to that camaraderie.
- 1:08:18SPEAKER_04: So yeah, there was but then Simo has took over and knowing the lads are going out because there was a lot of Irish lived in Carlisle, would still go out because the North East boys who got back to the Northeast and go out, yeah, but you don't know about it.
- 1:08:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah, of course.
- 1:08:33SPEAKER_04: Um so Simmo we came to him Monday, he ran us again, but like again of I was flying, but Sheler struggled.
- 1:08:41SPEAKER_04: Sheller had a good day.
- 1:08:42SPEAKER_03: Can I be honest?
- 1:08:43SPEAKER_03: You went out in the cinder though, Merv.
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_03: I went out there.
- 1:08:46SPEAKER_03: Did you did did you did you just went yeah, but not silly, but did you screw your loaf when Simmo came and said, Right, I think I'm reading the script here.
- 1:08:53SPEAKER_04: I I went out because m my mates went out.
- 1:08:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:08:57SPEAKER_04: Because I was a single lad here on my own.
- 1:09:01SPEAKER_04: So like everybody's gonna out.
- 1:09:02SPEAKER_04: I'm not gonna just sit in a bedroom.
- 1:09:03SPEAKER_03: No, I mean on a Sunday though.
- 1:09:04SPEAKER_03: I know, yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:05SPEAKER_01: But it's like getting though, like if you if you're the person and a player that you can afford to do that, you can go out and on Monday.
- 1:09:12SPEAKER_01: If he's putting ones on, I'll be I'll be up the front.
- 1:09:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:14SPEAKER_01: But Scott Brown was similar.
- 1:09:15SPEAKER_01: It's like you could go out and have a drink the next day pre-season, first and all the ones.
- 1:09:19SPEAKER_01: That's fair.
- 1:09:20SPEAKER_03: I mean just he's just when I'd be now, we we you're not what I mean.
- 1:09:24SPEAKER_03: You you know how much you want to have.
- 1:09:25SPEAKER_03: They take the piss out of me on a Sunday because they go, What's it today?
- 1:09:28SPEAKER_03: Let me I go, go out this time, I'll have this many pines, I'll be in bed by this time.
- 1:09:32SPEAKER_03: I'm all got the schedule.
- 1:09:35SPEAKER_04: So you'd have had a go with me one time in a mood because it was a night out that like Simmo was out, yeah.
- 1:09:40SPEAKER_04: Dennis was out with everybody was out, and um everybody was having a few drinks, and I'm still I'm standing.
- 1:09:46SPEAKER_04: I might have been out that night.
- 1:09:47SPEAKER_04: I think everybody was out, yeah.
- 1:09:48SPEAKER_04: And then Simmo would come over to me and going, like, do you do you ever like get drunk?
- 1:09:52SPEAKER_04: Like when you're drinking, just sitting away, drinking away.
- 1:09:56SPEAKER_04: And he's like sort of having a go on me, like, do you ever get drunk?
- 1:09:58SPEAKER_04: You never change, you just stick a like and then Dennis comes up and goes off, perfect beat.
- 1:10:03SPEAKER_04: And I go, No, no, I'm just enjoying myself.
- 1:10:05SPEAKER_04: I've seen you drop.
- 1:10:06SPEAKER_04: I know, yeah.
- 1:10:07SPEAKER_04: Once or twice over this uh many years, yeah.
- 1:10:10SPEAKER_04: But yeah, it all changed, sorry, with Simmo.
- 1:10:12SPEAKER_04: So he then he then weeded that out.
- 1:10:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah, the Irish, you know.
- 1:10:15SPEAKER_03: Because Sim wasn't Simon let you have a drink, yeah, yeah.
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_03: It was good as gold, like win, have a drink, lose, you know, have a drink, right times.
- 1:10:24SPEAKER_04: But I think, yeah, I think the thought was lads are out Saturday night, Sunday, it's a Tuesday night, yeah.
- 1:10:30SPEAKER_04: You know, he thought that, but that wasn't so much the case.
- 1:10:33SPEAKER_04: It was a little bit depending on what was happening during the weeks.
- 1:10:36SPEAKER_04: Um Peter Reed was like that.
- 1:10:38SPEAKER_03: He didn't drink, he kind of went against you, you know, Peter Reed.
- 1:10:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:10:41SPEAKER_03: I'm like, that's all right.
- 1:10:44SPEAKER_04: But then as long as you're performing on a Saturday, which we were with like Simon, as I said, they said their run and we went on absolutely outstanding and we should have stayed up.
- 1:10:52SPEAKER_04: We just missed out.
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_04: I think we if you bought my Christmases say you're gonna get relegated, we ended up uh like a point or two from safety we leaving.
- 1:11:00SPEAKER_03: Well, there's no way I would have signed for Carlisle, to be honest, if it wasn't for that run, because it was on the pay, it was everything, wasn't it?
- 1:11:05SPEAKER_03: I said me, Steve Hayward, Tony Gallimore, X95 team of who'd done really well.
- 1:11:11SPEAKER_03: We were on the bus coming back with Barnes and we were like invested in Carlisle staying up.
- 1:11:16SPEAKER_03: Uh so that's kind of brought in Brendan.
- 1:11:18SPEAKER_03: Obviously, I knew Brendan, yeah.
- 1:11:20SPEAKER_03: And uh there's a few always been like a link between Carlisle and Sunday.
- 1:11:24SPEAKER_04: But uh so comparisons, Roddy to Simon's night and day.
- 1:11:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:11:29SPEAKER_03: You know what?
- 1:11:30SPEAKER_03: Looking bad, I wouldn't mind playing for Roddy a little bit if he reined it in a bit, if he reined it in and went a bit more Odyssey stories, we wouldn't believe it.
- 1:11:40SPEAKER_01: So for uh Well Simon done the right thing and brought some proper players.
- 1:11:43SPEAKER_01: Well, we'd potentially the boys on Oven Ireland when I spoke about it and the podcast and stuff and the stories.
- 1:11:48SPEAKER_01: A few of them know his agent and stuff like that, so there could be potential to get him over if it works.
- 1:11:54SPEAKER_01: He was over he was over I know, but Skip was worried.
- 1:11:57SPEAKER_02: Was he?
- 1:11:58SPEAKER_01: We should have done it this week with Skip's away in holiday, shouldn't we?
- 1:12:00SPEAKER_03: We should have got him over.
- 1:12:01SPEAKER_03: Uh Sport of Simon, technical lead in Saudi Arabia for their FA, like their FA, really.
- 1:12:08SPEAKER_03: 18 to 20s, overseeing the coaches of the teams, the coaching that they do, and the game model.
- 1:12:14SPEAKER_03: Three year deal to see if they can align all these teams to play the same way.
- 1:12:18SPEAKER_03: Some fucking dingy there.
- 1:12:20SPEAKER_03: Some get to say it, you know.
- 1:12:22SPEAKER_03: You let water under the bridge is a cut a role here.
- 1:12:25SPEAKER_03: Not man it running, help run the club like.
- 1:12:29SPEAKER_03: I think when there's when it passes the three year, whatever, I still think should be involved at some point.
- 1:12:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:12:36SPEAKER_03: For everything that he's done in the game, in the regardless of how it went management, there's a from here, got out here, the knowledge, the passion for he gets it though, doesn't it?
- 1:12:45SPEAKER_01: His family are still here.
- 1:12:46SPEAKER_01: You see, I see them in about town stuff, and aye.
- 1:12:50SPEAKER_01: And I I've only been here in a few years, but you can just see that he he's a proper Calio man, do you know what I mean?
- 1:12:55SPEAKER_01: Like he gets it.
- 1:12:56SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 1:12:57SPEAKER_03: As a ball playing centre half, Murph.
- 1:13:00SPEAKER_03: This era would have suited you down to the ground.
- 1:13:02SPEAKER_04: Yes or no?
- 1:13:04SPEAKER_04: I just had this conversation with Oscar the other day because I said uh I asked him the question of how how have teams changed in the way they try and press the kid was just trying to play a PlayStation, Murph.
- 1:13:16SPEAKER_03: Come in here, Oscar.
- 1:13:17SPEAKER_03: He's like that right, can have a word or what now.
- 1:13:20SPEAKER_04: Well, usel you'll see it as well.
- 1:13:22SPEAKER_04: How was remember the games it used to be that teams would sit off, leave the defenders to have it, you know, and then try and go on, try and break us down.
- 1:13:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah, whereas nowadays they try and do that that high press man for man all over the park.
- 1:13:33SPEAKER_04: And I think there was a discussion, was it Gary Neville and Roy Keen and all they used to go mad about the amount of touches that centre backs had in uh in the games, like completed passes, but it was side side side.
- 1:13:44SPEAKER_04: Stephen Presley's team.
- 1:13:45SPEAKER_04: Oh my god.
- 1:13:46SPEAKER_04: But now there's now there's a higher press, there's more emphasis on a ball playing centre back.
- 1:13:50SPEAKER_04: So if I'm getting pressed, you normally you'd play it to the the full back or something like that, and but they're getting pressed as well.
- 1:13:56SPEAKER_04: But so it'll be more emphasis on me to if Dylan's trying to press me from this side.
- 1:13:59SPEAKER_04: Can I step in and bypass that first press to then suck somebody else out to then pick them off?
- 1:14:04SPEAKER_04: And that's how I think the games change.
- 1:14:06SPEAKER_04: So when my boy's centre back, you're going right.
- 1:14:08SPEAKER_04: Can you see that picture?
- 1:14:09SPEAKER_04: Can you see where you're getting pressed from?
- 1:14:10SPEAKER_04: Can you see if the ball's if the ball's getting switched and I'm a right-sided centre back and it's getting switched from the left?
- 1:14:16SPEAKER_04: Does the winger come and press me?
- 1:14:18SPEAKER_04: And then as I'd have to be more of a midfielder to be able to scan to see, right, if he's pressing me, can we then pick him off?
- 1:14:23SPEAKER_04: Or do I let it run through?
- 1:14:24SPEAKER_04: And all I know you don't like this tactical stuff, do you?
- 1:14:27SPEAKER_03: I'll tell you something to watch for him because Borham would have the best ball playing centre half last year, but I think he's about 38.
- 1:14:32SPEAKER_03: They found another one.
- 1:14:33SPEAKER_03: Look at their goal off Saturday.
- 1:14:34SPEAKER_03: Someone's done a video from behind the goal in the weight and the weight and the weight, and they've got this lad just foot on the ball, centre half, and no one's going near him because he's just he's good enough in the pop it round.
- 1:14:45SPEAKER_01: But uh everyone's expected their game knowledge, I feel now, is like it needs to be at a certain level to play.
- 1:14:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:14:52SPEAKER_01: Like you you played, you were strong, your battles, you won your first tackles, all that kind of stuff.
- 1:14:57SPEAKER_01: But now, as you said, you're scanning the weight of pass where you're playing the pass, is it is he getting pressed?
- 1:15:02SPEAKER_01: Where's this?
- 1:15:03SPEAKER_01: All this find the spare man stuff.
- 1:15:04SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
- 1:15:05SPEAKER_01: Like centre halves, it's it's literally on them.
- 1:15:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:15:09SPEAKER_03: He had a nightmare.
- 1:15:10SPEAKER_03: You know, when uh Super Em used to do Showboat.
- 1:15:13SPEAKER_03: Loved it, uh he's run out of defence, Maradona, two players, played through to Cole Hawley, calls one on one, misses.
- 1:15:19SPEAKER_03: Does he?
- 1:15:20SPEAKER_03: Did they show it?
- 1:15:20SPEAKER_03: Did they show it?
- 1:15:22SPEAKER_03: Oh, we had to be down at half ten watching it.
- 1:15:24SPEAKER_03: Were you on it?
- 1:15:25SPEAKER_03: Were you ever on it?
- 1:15:25SPEAKER_03: No.
- 1:15:26SPEAKER_03: Showboat, no, I was on it on the mix, no.
- 1:15:28SPEAKER_03: Got caught in the net once when we scored.
- 1:15:31SPEAKER_03: Showed that.
- 1:15:31SPEAKER_03: I was like, I can't get out of the net.
- 1:15:33SPEAKER_03: No time.
- 1:15:34SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 1:15:34SPEAKER_03: What's the I scored a worldie better than Pelle, but I played for Blackpool, so that Tim Lovejoy went, Oh, look at him.
- 1:15:41SPEAKER_03: He's dyed his hair the same colour as his top.
- 1:15:43SPEAKER_03: Cheeky bastard.
- 1:15:45SPEAKER_03: He's bald now.
- 1:15:46SPEAKER_03: Anyway, what's the crack?
- 1:15:48SPEAKER_03: Showed him, didn't it?
- 1:15:49SPEAKER_03: Showed him in his fucking hip bedroom mansion.
- 1:15:52SPEAKER_03: Right, what's the crack?
- 1:15:54SPEAKER_03: First one from Ian Heslop.
- 1:15:56SPEAKER_03: Good crack on the podcast.
- 1:15:57SPEAKER_03: Loving the banter.
- 1:15:58SPEAKER_03: I have an etiquette question.
- 1:16:00SPEAKER_03: My son is getting married next year, and the best man is dragging his feet, organising the stag night.
- 1:16:05SPEAKER_03: I was thinking about where we could go, was thinking about doing a soccer Saturday challenge where you go to the first town or city that score a goal, but then I heard about your big day over out in Newcastle.
- 1:16:16SPEAKER_03: I've done a bit of pricing up and we can get a good deal price-wise for the weekend.
- 1:16:20SPEAKER_03: So before I suggest it with the price to go to Newcastle, here's my question.
- 1:16:25SPEAKER_03: Should the groom pay to go on his stag night?
- 1:16:28SPEAKER_03: Or should the party chip in and pay for his weekend?
- 1:16:31SPEAKER_03: Thanks for reading.
- 1:16:35SPEAKER_03: Thanks for reading.
- 1:16:36SPEAKER_03: Ian Heslop from Haven't near Portsmouth.
- 1:16:40SPEAKER_03: Come on, New Blue.
- 1:16:42SPEAKER_03: Murph had a stag, do you know?
- 1:16:45SPEAKER_03: Got us all the way to fucking Galloway.
- 1:16:47SPEAKER_03: So that's down to Manchester.
- 1:16:49SPEAKER_03: Galloway, that is.
- 1:16:50SPEAKER_03: Plane.
- 1:16:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:16:51SPEAKER_00: Galloway.
- 1:16:53SPEAKER_03: Oh, sorry.
- 1:16:54SPEAKER_03: Three hours on a bus.
- 1:16:55SPEAKER_03: Done three days there on the Sunday.
- 1:16:58SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, Murph, back.
- 1:16:59SPEAKER_05: You've never looked back though, have you?
- 1:17:00SPEAKER_03: No, no, no.
- 1:17:01SPEAKER_03: See you later.
- 1:17:02SPEAKER_03: He's going 20 minutes down the road for a week with his missus and that.
- 1:17:06SPEAKER_05: Did you go back home?
- 1:17:07SPEAKER_03: I'm like on the bus.
- 1:17:09SPEAKER_05: That was the best weekend you've ever had.
- 1:17:11SPEAKER_05: Guinness was was harsh.
- 1:17:13SPEAKER_05: Did you did you not get a job that weekend?
- 1:17:15SPEAKER_03: Oh, did yeah.
- 1:17:16SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:17:16SPEAKER_03: I did I.
- 1:17:18SPEAKER_03: That was when retirement stopped.
- 1:17:19SPEAKER_03: I was aye.
- 1:17:20SPEAKER_03: I did I.
- 1:17:22SPEAKER_05: So you were pestering pestering Sean.
- 1:17:24SPEAKER_05: No, I wasn't.
- 1:17:26SPEAKER_03: He was pestering me.
- 1:17:27SPEAKER_03: My wage at the start of the week, I had a two grand a week new job.
- 1:17:32SPEAKER_03: Puss myself too much, down about 300 by the end.
- 1:17:36SPEAKER_04: I was like, he kept saying he kept going, John, give us a job.
- 1:17:39SPEAKER_04: Any job I'll do two grand a week.
- 1:17:41SPEAKER_04: John's like laughing, and the next book full again.
- 1:17:43SPEAKER_02: 1900.
- 1:17:45SPEAKER_03: I've seen it giving them asked the barmaid for a drink.
- 1:17:47SPEAKER_03: I went, I've seen that.
- 1:17:49SPEAKER_03: Mandy's gonna know about that.
- 1:17:52SPEAKER_03: I think if this groom pays his way on a night out, you know, when he gets around in and that, if he's a tight fucker and he's known to be in tight, nah.
- 1:18:01SPEAKER_03: But if he's one of them lads where you get he gets around in and that, I think pay for him.
- 1:18:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I would have thought you should shouldn't pay for a the weekend at all.
- 1:18:10SPEAKER_03: No, groom get has to pay.
- 1:18:12SPEAKER_04: Oh no, the groom for the weekend.
- 1:18:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah, agree.
- 1:18:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I would say we can't.
- 1:18:16SPEAKER_02: Newcastle lads, get the flight club.
- 1:18:18SPEAKER_02: How much commission are you getting out of this?
- 1:18:20SPEAKER_02: I didn't tell them, tell him.
- 1:18:22SPEAKER_03: But I'm gonna try and get on the stag.
- 1:18:23SPEAKER_03: We might be on the stag.
- 1:18:24SPEAKER_03: Ian, give us a shout.
- 1:18:25SPEAKER_03: We might be on it.
- 1:18:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's it.
- 1:18:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Newcastle Flight Club.
- 1:18:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we could we could go with Free Num Idle, couldn't we?
- 1:18:30SPEAKER_03: We could join along.
- 1:18:31SPEAKER_03: Guess what I've got to ask to do today?
- 1:18:32SPEAKER_03: I'll tell you off air.
- 1:18:34SPEAKER_03: Cutting a ribbon somewhere right up my street.
- 1:18:38SPEAKER_03: Is it?
- 1:18:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so we're all in.
- 1:18:39SPEAKER_03: So he's off for it.
- 1:18:40SPEAKER_01: No, you'd honestly stress back at getting up in the lummies there.
- 1:18:44SPEAKER_01: Here we go.
- 1:18:45SPEAKER_03: Does Gaffney.
- 1:18:46SPEAKER_03: You know Daz.
- 1:18:48SPEAKER_03: Great continued pod, lads.
- 1:18:49SPEAKER_03: Really is going from strength to strength.
- 1:18:51SPEAKER_03: Question for you lads.
- 1:18:52SPEAKER_03: Just wondered the thoughts of you lads on the upcoming Prem season with new managers at City, Chelsea, and Liverpool.
- 1:18:57SPEAKER_03: Any surprise packages?
- 1:18:59SPEAKER_03: Also, I've got a game for you.
- 1:19:01SPEAKER_03: Try football 501.
- 1:19:03SPEAKER_03: Type it in in Google.
- 1:19:04SPEAKER_03: You lads will be great at it.
- 1:19:05SPEAKER_03: Basically, football darts.
- 1:19:07SPEAKER_03: Sites called Top Bins.
- 1:19:09SPEAKER_03: Check it out.
- 1:19:09SPEAKER_03: What kind of missions do you get?
- 1:19:12SPEAKER_03: Anyway, surprise packages.
- 1:19:14SPEAKER_03: All I'm seeing is Fulham are down.
- 1:19:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:19:17SPEAKER_03: Who's winning the Prem?
- 1:19:19SPEAKER_04: Oof.
- 1:19:19SPEAKER_04: After the game yesterday.
- 1:19:20SPEAKER_04: Arsenal, there was Arsenal Manchester.
- 1:19:22SPEAKER_04: Arsenal.
- 1:19:24SPEAKER_04: Arsenal's pretty good, yeah.
- 1:19:25SPEAKER_04: And they didn't even play like the likes of Rice and they're strengthened as well, haven't they?
- 1:19:29SPEAKER_03: Adam?
- 1:19:31SPEAKER_04: Whatever.
- 1:19:32SPEAKER_03: You think he'd drink?
- 1:19:34SPEAKER_03: Gaffer, who's winning the Prem?
- 1:19:37SPEAKER_03: Arsenal, Jeff?
- 1:19:41SPEAKER_01: I'm interested to see Chelsea, Alonso.
- 1:19:43SPEAKER_01: Hi, I am I am.
- 1:19:45SPEAKER_01: I'm interested to see how they are.
- 1:19:47SPEAKER_01: Roger, how do you replace them?
- 1:19:50SPEAKER_01: I don't think you can, can you?
- 1:19:53SPEAKER_01: World Cup, Alan Dor, best player in the World Cup.
- 1:19:57SPEAKER_01: How do you replace that?
- 1:19:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:20:00SPEAKER_03: It's tough.
- 1:20:01SPEAKER_03: Usually the person that size and build isn't as good on the ball.
- 1:20:04SPEAKER_01: Oh, it reminds me of Busquets.
- 1:20:06SPEAKER_01: Remember Busquets?
- 1:20:07SPEAKER_01: Barca?
- 1:20:10unknown: I don't know.
- 1:20:13SPEAKER_03: When you think of that Barca team that was ridiculous, you put a video up with a young car, uh young Barcelona player, he's about 15.
- 1:20:19SPEAKER_03: And he's about the size of it with his freaking ridiculous.
- 1:20:21SPEAKER_03: Like absolutely ridiculous.
- 1:20:23SPEAKER_03: Right, we've got one more question, and then I've got Newcastle will deal.
- 1:20:29SPEAKER_03: Newcastle 15th.
- 1:20:31SPEAKER_03: I think Fulham will go down.
- 1:20:32SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 1:20:32SPEAKER_03: I think Coventry will stay up.
- 1:20:38SPEAKER_03: I think the Newcastle manager will do more damage in the big market, especially with them guns.
- 1:20:44SPEAKER_04: Have you seen this a game yesterday?
- 1:20:45SPEAKER_03: I reckon he walked into a shop the other day and he went, Listen, I want medium round the waist and XXL on the arms, tailor it for us.
- 1:20:54SPEAKER_03: He's having himself.
- 1:20:56SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 1:20:57SPEAKER_03: Hi all.
- 1:20:58SPEAKER_03: Love the crack.
- 1:20:59SPEAKER_03: With Dylan starting his coaching journey, skip involved in teams and let me commentating on many games for the last 10 years or so.
- 1:21:06SPEAKER_03: If you were appointed manager of a team tomorrow, what would be your aim?
- 1:21:10SPEAKER_03: As in how would you want the team your team to look?
- 1:21:13SPEAKER_03: Does it matter what players you have or what league, or would you stick by what you want to do, regardless?
- 1:21:18SPEAKER_03: That's Martin from Morton.
- 1:21:20SPEAKER_03: So basically saying we're talking philosophies here.
- 1:21:22SPEAKER_03: Would you go in and implement, no matter what you've got, would you go, we are playing this way, or would you look at the team, train them a little bit and go, right?
- 1:21:31SPEAKER_03: I think we're gonna go this way.
- 1:21:34SPEAKER_01: I think we asked Moff.
- 1:21:35SPEAKER_01: Wouldn't you think?
- 1:21:36SPEAKER_01: We are you more like what you've got of sticking by philosophy?
- 1:21:39SPEAKER_04: So my first first season at Annan, the budget was so low that you had to get in whatever I could get in, and we were a rigid 4-4-2.
- 1:21:51SPEAKER_04: Love it.
- 1:21:51SPEAKER_04: Don't get broken down, play for said pieces, one's no one, anyone's season tickets.
- 1:21:57SPEAKER_04: But that was at the start.
- 1:21:58SPEAKER_04: But then as I said, remember I said about the moxing one like the the better that you can sign the players that you can bring in.
- 1:22:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah, uh, because I had first season was that rigid one, second season brought different players in.
- 1:22:10SPEAKER_04: We got to with playoffs, playoff final.
- 1:22:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we lost, I lost all my players.
- 1:22:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah, remember that clubs come cherry picking, I'm on a rebuild again, so it depends on the the players you can get in, how you can play.
- 1:22:20SPEAKER_04: Because everybody's got you, you know, you go to coaching courses, what's your philosophy?
- 1:22:24SPEAKER_04: But if you're at the top at if you're at the top, your philosophy can get I'll get the best players in and can play whatever way because they're unbelievable players.
- 1:22:32SPEAKER_04: But if you're at a different level, you have to try and work with what you've got and get the best out of what you got and develop them.
- 1:22:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah, if you can to make them better, just like what we said about the moxin.
- 1:22:42SPEAKER_04: And if you're lucky, your budget improves, you manage to get a little bit player better player in, a bit of better better player in, and it all moulds together.
- 1:22:50SPEAKER_04: So in the ideal world, yes, your philosophy and all this, but that's not they all don't live in the ideal world.
- 1:22:58SPEAKER_04: You have to be good at recruitment, good coaches, good coaching staff, get good players in.
- 1:23:04SPEAKER_04: Can you develop those players and make them better and then try and get some success success?
- 1:23:09SPEAKER_04: I was looking after the other.
- 1:23:11SPEAKER_01: So yeah, I think I spawn.
- 1:23:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:23:13SPEAKER_01: Spawn.
- 1:23:14SPEAKER_01: Like obviously you want to play a certain style, don't you?
- 1:23:16SPEAKER_01: And but there's so many restrictions with, as you said, about recruitment, where you are in the league, what you are as a club, uh as a used budgeting to stay in the league.
- 1:23:27SPEAKER_01: You if you're if you're fighting the bottom of the league to stay out of the playoffs or now relegation, you're not going to turn into a a silky football team that plays out for the back, are you?
- 1:23:36SPEAKER_01: Like but as you said, over time you build the club up, yeah, infrastructure, you but in initially uh you're not forcing people to play away, they can't.
- 1:23:45SPEAKER_04: I did a way detrimental to you.
- 1:23:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:23:49SPEAKER_01: Agreed.
- 1:23:50SPEAKER_01: It's a good argument though, on it, because uh a certain it's I I think I'm I'm kind of similar, like how you see it, and then at a certain level, they should be at a level like for instance like Mudderwell last year.
- 1:24:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, never really they've been okay, never really a team you would enjoy watching like week in, week out.
- 1:24:07SPEAKER_01: But they're at a certain level where players are good enough to control the ball and pass the ball.
- 1:24:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:24:11SPEAKER_01: I always go back to the Willows.
- 1:24:13SPEAKER_01: He comes in and turns them in.
- 1:24:15SPEAKER_01: The shape that he played was unbelievable.
- 1:24:17unknown: Yeah.
- 1:24:18SPEAKER_01: It's a 4-2-2-2, yeah.
- 1:24:20SPEAKER_01: It's unbelievable.
- 1:24:20SPEAKER_04: And then the rotations of where do you know what I mean?
- 1:24:22SPEAKER_01: So, like I'm in in my head, something I'm like, you can coach them to play a certain way, but again, could he have done that at a League 2 team in Scotland?
- 1:24:31SPEAKER_01: Probably not.
- 1:24:32SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
- 1:24:32SPEAKER_01: Good chance not.
- 1:24:34SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 1:24:34SPEAKER_03: Last bit.
- 1:24:36SPEAKER_03: I've been waiting for this bit.
- 1:24:38SPEAKER_03: We've had a voice note in.
- 1:24:41SPEAKER_03: So, when we were at Adon, we had a black coaching kit and it had a bit of red running through it.
- 1:24:47SPEAKER_03: So, Murph bought these horrendous red trainers off team you or somewhere like that.
- 1:24:52SPEAKER_03: And we are playing this game and Murph is losing.
- 1:24:58SPEAKER_03: With the linesman, not getting free kicks, all the little things going against us.
- 1:25:02SPEAKER_03: So, Murph is arguing with this linesman constantly, but the linesman isn't giving anything back, no convo, being a bit arrogant.
- 1:25:10SPEAKER_03: The opposition are kicking the ball away on our free kicks and not getting booked.
- 1:25:14SPEAKER_03: So this goes on and on and on, and we get a free kick, and their lad has booted it away again, preventing the fast start.
- 1:25:21SPEAKER_03: So Murph has lost his head and gesture, the kicking ball motion.
- 1:25:26SPEAKER_03: As his foot kicks out, his horrific red trainer has come off, done a huge loop-to-loop, and landed in the centre circle.
- 1:25:34SPEAKER_03: So Murph is still kicking off with the linesman, seeing he has kicked the ball away.
- 1:25:38SPEAKER_03: He has kicked the ball away.
- 1:25:39SPEAKER_02: It's Carl McMahon.
- 1:25:40SPEAKER_03: And the linesman has gone.
- 1:25:42SPEAKER_03: Just get your trainer off the pitch.
- 1:25:44SPEAKER_03: Oh no.
- 1:25:44SPEAKER_03: So Murph couldn't see anything to him, and he's had to do an uneven walk to the centre circle, one leg shorter than the other, to pick up this red trainer and walk back off.
- 1:25:55SPEAKER_03: Me and Col are trying to hide our laughter.
- 1:25:59SPEAKER_03: We are creasing up inside, and Murph is absolutely fuming.
- 1:26:03SPEAKER_03: And I mean, absolutely fuming.
- 1:26:05SPEAKER_03: After the game, we are killing ourselves laughing.
- 1:26:07SPEAKER_03: Please use this one.
- 1:26:10SPEAKER_04: It was uh it was that it did happen did happen, right?
- 1:26:14SPEAKER_04: There was a goal this or a goal that was given to Cove that Matty uh Douglas clears it off the line.
- 1:26:20SPEAKER_04: The linesman's about the penos bot, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:26:24SPEAKER_04: So he gives it.
- 1:26:25SPEAKER_04: So in fuming, they get another penalty where Matty Douglas pretends to kick.
- 1:26:29SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna tell you the story.
- 1:26:30SPEAKER_04: Okay, pretends to kick out, right?
- 1:26:32SPEAKER_04: And he stops, and the boy just dives down.
- 1:26:34SPEAKER_04: The referee gives a pen out.
- 1:26:35SPEAKER_04: So we're 2-0 down, the ball gets cleared.
- 1:26:37SPEAKER_04: It's coming back to me.
- 1:26:38SPEAKER_04: And I'm flipping with the linesman.
- 1:26:39SPEAKER_04: I had me trainers, it was the but they were loose.
- 1:26:41SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:26:42SPEAKER_04: And I've gone, it's a f joke.
- 1:26:44SPEAKER_04: And we've tried training, it just takes off.
- 1:26:47SPEAKER_04: And I've got, oh no, oh no.
- 1:26:49SPEAKER_04: And the linesman just goes, just go and get your trainer with you.
- 1:26:52SPEAKER_04: I was viewing.
- 1:26:53SPEAKER_04: I was viewing, and as you said, walking across the pitch.
- 1:26:55SPEAKER_03: Did you not just shout one of the lads and throw it back?
- 1:26:58SPEAKER_04: Nobody named it.
- 1:26:58SPEAKER_04: I'll just score down the bottom end.
- 1:27:00SPEAKER_04: So I've gone and picked it.
- 1:27:01SPEAKER_04: But the worst thing about it, the linesman's like, I'll smoke, and I turn around as I'm walking back.
- 1:27:04SPEAKER_04: My whole coaching staff are all laughing, hiding my head and gone.
- 1:27:09SPEAKER_03: Hey, I get Al back.
- 1:27:11SPEAKER_03: Irish Al who said it in his mate.
- 1:27:13SPEAKER_03: He came up at Ireland with.
- 1:27:14SPEAKER_03: But Al the other week, well, a couple of years ago, he was like, ah, what's the matter with you?
- 1:27:18SPEAKER_03: And Murph's hammered us like what's going on?
- 1:27:21SPEAKER_03: Like Murph's doing his team talk after the game.
- 1:27:23SPEAKER_03: Someone's popped the head in, and Al's just went, summit, summit.
- 1:27:27SPEAKER_03: So Al's just carried on.
- 1:27:29SPEAKER_03: He just went, didn't even look at Al.
- 1:27:30SPEAKER_03: He went.
- 1:27:30SPEAKER_03: Murph's carried on, went, Don't you dare answer in door like that when I'm doing a team talk?
- 1:27:36SPEAKER_03: Like, lost it.
- 1:27:38SPEAKER_03: Al still left three hours there, Al's having a pint with me going, I'm entirely known.
- 1:27:42SPEAKER_03: I'm like fucking forty eight, I'm the fuck off.
- 1:27:46SPEAKER_04: It was the team talk before the game.
- 1:27:48SPEAKER_04: And you know what the players' attention spans like.
- 1:27:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:27:51SPEAKER_04: You know, so you got them for five, eight minutes.
- 1:27:53SPEAKER_04: So I was in the middle of doing it and then someone's knocking it on.
- 1:27:55SPEAKER_04: I'll just I'll just go and open it and turn it around.
- 1:27:58SPEAKER_04: Did the boy hadn't even forced his way in.
- 1:28:00SPEAKER_04: And he's talking to him, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:28:01SPEAKER_04: And then he's he's closed the door, and I've just stood there going, Don't do it ever.
- 1:28:06SPEAKER_02: I just went uh uh loads of yell.
- 1:28:10SPEAKER_03: Right then he hasn't done it again since though.
- 1:28:12SPEAKER_03: Oh, has he balls?
- 1:28:14SPEAKER_03: Well, we're wrapping up now.
- 1:28:15SPEAKER_03: Last bit for you.
- 1:28:16SPEAKER_03: All right, involved over a thousand matches as a player, manager, and coach.
- 1:28:22SPEAKER_03: Live in the city, you represent.
- 1:28:25SPEAKER_03: It's gotta be a phone caller, but anyway, what's next, mate?
- 1:28:30SPEAKER_04: Um I've managed for nine full seasons, nine seasons, and honestly, manager management takes its toll.
- 1:28:38SPEAKER_04: So you're asking them questions earlier on about this, that, and the other, and all I've done for the whole time is while I'm managing, thinking about absolutely everything.
- 1:28:44SPEAKER_04: You know, I'm having a conversation with you, and I'm thinking in the back of my mind about what's going on.
- 1:28:47SPEAKER_04: I thought your company's been a bit poor, but it's been better lately.
- 1:28:50SPEAKER_04: So uh said to my wife, uh Lisa, like looking forward to a break.
- 1:28:54SPEAKER_04: And we've had a couple of holidays here and there.
- 1:28:57SPEAKER_04: We're actually going away on Wednesday, but once you're out of football for a week session, like what what's going on, what's next?
- 1:29:05SPEAKER_04: You know, as I said, uh over a thousand games, managed for nine seasons, being injured, being sub, come through the academies, you know, loads to offer, even when we're speaking about like the tactical side of stuff.
- 1:29:17SPEAKER_04: So um I just I just love being involved in football, whether that's manager, assistant manager, yeah, yeah.
- 1:29:24SPEAKER_04: Uh academy.
- 1:29:25SPEAKER_04: Um so even the likes of it, you said mentioned about Simo and the experience that he has in coming back and running the club.
- 1:29:33SPEAKER_04: And Simo's over there now uh coaching coaches.
- 1:29:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I feel like I can offer that as well.
- 1:29:38SPEAKER_04: But I you know, football's quite an egotistical game.
- 1:29:41SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:29:41SPEAKER_04: If I says, right, you know, Dylan and I'll come and coach you, and you know, well, I've you know I've played and I've done this, and so maybe that's not but any academy levels, depending on the coach.
- 1:29:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah, depending on the coaches.
- 1:29:51SPEAKER_04: So I get you.
- 1:29:52SPEAKER_04: You know, I have offered or mentioned that I would happily come into the academy and float, you know, if if needed, you know, in our Carlisle's academy at the minute, if they didn't have a coach a week, just give me a call, I'd happily come in.
- 1:30:05SPEAKER_03: I got offered, I kind of got offered that role for the previous academy manager.
- 1:30:09SPEAKER_03: I just couldn't commit to it, but yeah, if there's a team needs doing or floating around the area and then it bec becomes more because you need people in there.
- 1:30:18SPEAKER_01: There's a no-brainer, I think.
- 1:30:20SPEAKER_01: See, if I was like at the top of a club and you think but the experience, do you know what I mean?
- 1:30:24SPEAKER_01: Like you've you've been there and done it, you've old school, you can you you know what you're talking about tactically, do you know what I mean?
- 1:30:29SPEAKER_04: That like with the new school kind of like where all the philosophies and that, like you can see that like especially like even the demands that need to be put on kids, yeah, you know, from a certain point of view rather than just you know let let them play and they'll learn because they they don't.
- 1:30:44SPEAKER_04: We didn't, you know, you had to get coached.
- 1:30:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:30:47SPEAKER_04: Um so yeah, I that would be something I think I could really you know keeping with football until an opportunity comes up, yeah, because still want to get involved.
- 1:30:55SPEAKER_04: But uh I I believe somebody put that to the people in the academy, and it was sort of said, Oh, well, you have to be associated with one team whereas I would hate to commit to one age group and then another opportunity comes up and yeah, you know, you you leave them in the lurch, but you know, floating around helping helping out when in need, right?
- 1:31:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so we'd see yeah.
- 1:31:18SPEAKER_03: Well that sounds sounds good, as you see.
- 1:31:20SPEAKER_03: You're on the doorstep around there.
- 1:31:22SPEAKER_04: Well, there's there's a lot of uh like Danny Granger was in.
- 1:31:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah, um, he's still in, I think, with the the 15s.
- 1:31:28SPEAKER_04: Now he's come back in the 15s with his his son plays while he was Paul Bortien was in for a bit.
- 1:31:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah, his boy is now in this the scholarship programme.
- 1:31:36SPEAKER_04: Uh there's a hell of a lot of players.
- 1:31:38SPEAKER_04: Birchie and Dev are in there, which is great.
- 1:31:40SPEAKER_03: I think they say they're really good.
- 1:31:42SPEAKER_03: Like when I listen on the sidelines, they didn't they know that you know it's not some of the coaches are here at other use teams levels that say some things and Devin Birchie know about the game and they but even Dev Dev's son does he not play I think he's the Man City, yeah.
- 1:31:58SPEAKER_04: So like what what I'm sort of saying is the the professional players, they're sons now.
- 1:32:03SPEAKER_04: So like Danny Cadamatri, Bailey Cadamatri, yeah, Danny Livesy's boy, Tyler.
- 1:32:08SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, you've got like Haaland.
- 1:32:11SPEAKER_03: I think Cadamatri's both, both are one's at Wrexham, one's at Sheffield or City.
- 1:32:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so Lee Lee Miller.
- 1:32:18SPEAKER_01: Lee Miller, Lennon, boys flying, yeah.
- 1:32:20SPEAKER_01: Lennon, so Fletcher Bros.
- 1:32:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah, uh Man United.
- 1:32:23SPEAKER_04: But you can go through the lot.
- 1:32:24SPEAKER_04: There's Kumases, there was Neil Danes, why to do them at Liverpool.
- 1:32:28SPEAKER_04: So as a as professionals, what you can who did you say, Jet?
- 1:32:33SPEAKER_04: Eskeys boys flying, uh there's loads.
- 1:32:36SPEAKER_04: So as a professional footballer, what you can offer kids because you see the amount of those players' kids coming through and playing at levels, yeah, yeah.
- 1:32:46SPEAKER_01: Like just instead of taking them.
- 1:32:48SPEAKER_01: Obviously, they're trusting their own coaches instead.
- 1:32:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Danny Graham's young and keep her in a strike cap doing well as well.
- 1:32:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, right.
- 1:32:54SPEAKER_03: Cheers, move.
- 1:32:55SPEAKER_03: But a big thank you to Danny and Rickaby and the air con.
- 1:33:00SPEAKER_01: Needed today, big.
- 1:33:01SPEAKER_01: Shout out with big shout, yeah.
- 1:33:02SPEAKER_03: It felt a bit hot early on, but I could feel a little waft there.
- 1:33:05SPEAKER_03: I went, I'm in, I'm sorted.
- 1:33:07SPEAKER_03: Lovely paint of what?
- 1:33:08SPEAKER_03: Hawkes then.
- 1:33:09SPEAKER_03: That's what they're selling uh Cloxon's farm.
- 1:33:11SPEAKER_03: Uh didn't it?
- 1:33:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yes.
- 1:33:13SPEAKER_03: Danny was still male.
- 1:33:14SPEAKER_03: Um, we bought these today, so he's gonna have to pack them up, chase for putting them up, Murph and Adam.
- 1:33:18SPEAKER_03: Dylan, did you have any no?
- 1:33:20SPEAKER_03: I didn't know Jeff, thank you for doing that as well.
- 1:33:22SPEAKER_03: Uh, thank you to Paolo's fish and chip shop.
- 1:33:26SPEAKER_03: Oh no, he could have told us that a thing, he'd which are fish and chip all though.
- 1:33:31SPEAKER_03: Go on, give us that uh fish, chips, curry sauce, chase of sausage.
- 1:33:36SPEAKER_01: What's a chase of sausage?
- 1:33:37SPEAKER_01: Like one of those skips.
- 1:33:41SPEAKER_03: Like we little on the side, ham.
- 1:33:43SPEAKER_03: Oh what it in the car?
- 1:33:44SPEAKER_01: Is it a battled one or do you go and smoke?
- 1:33:46SPEAKER_03: I want no, I think I'm going smoke now.
- 1:33:48SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah?
- 1:33:48SPEAKER_03: Nah, I'm getting that age, not much better for me.
- 1:33:51SPEAKER_03: But I'm going at Paolo's, they do like this, it's like a can't remember what it's called.
- 1:33:56SPEAKER_03: Sorry, Gemma.
- 1:33:57SPEAKER_03: Oh, I'm in trouble, yeah.
- 1:33:59SPEAKER_03: Um, not the big large one, there's a middle one, it's perfect.
- 1:34:03SPEAKER_03: What sausage?
- 1:34:03SPEAKER_03: Perfect.
- 1:34:04SPEAKER_03: They're not fish and chips.
- 1:34:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:34:06SPEAKER_03: Pension are special, probably.
- 1:34:07SPEAKER_03: Have you ever had a fritter?
- 1:34:09SPEAKER_03: Spam fritter back in the day.
- 1:34:10SPEAKER_01: No, no, it's clogging it up now.
- 1:34:12SPEAKER_01: So it's just but so the little chippy close to us when I've went down aye, Paolo's.
- 1:34:17SPEAKER_01: But I explained it.
- 1:34:18SPEAKER_01: So basically, I seen Glasgow they do like a it's basically a potato and deep fry it, and then like a kind of slice.
- 1:34:24SPEAKER_01: Oh, do you uh corned beef ones and cheese and onion ones?
- 1:34:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but no, this is just like just potato, but it's just let him talk about it.
- 1:34:31SPEAKER_01: No, let me I don't want spam.
- 1:34:33SPEAKER_01: You know what?
- 1:34:34SPEAKER_03: You know when I was at Paolo's the other day, bloke in front of us, and I said in my head, no one has these.
- 1:34:38SPEAKER_03: He went, but Mars bar plays.
- 1:34:39SPEAKER_03: I went, no way.
- 1:34:41SPEAKER_03: Glasgow's best.
- 1:34:42SPEAKER_01: They're all right, to be fair then.
- 1:34:43SPEAKER_01: We went to Top Golf, uh, some of the scorpions, and they'd done them in there.
- 1:34:47SPEAKER_01: They'd never tried them.
- 1:34:48SPEAKER_01: Obviously, it's Glasgow, innit?
- 1:34:49SPEAKER_01: So um it was alright.
- 1:34:51SPEAKER_01: Careful, Jeff.
- 1:34:52SPEAKER_01: Jeff's going to do his hip here climbing over me.
- 1:34:53SPEAKER_01: He's got a dance class tomorrow.
- 1:34:55SPEAKER_01: You get them.
- 1:34:56SPEAKER_01: Right, right, cheers.
- 1:34:57SPEAKER_01: It's a pleasure.
