- 1:09SPEAKER_01: And this week's guest is a really special one.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: It is Eagles forward, 20-year-old forward assistant captain, number 12, Bryson Insinger.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: We'll talk to him about what first got him into hockey, his journey to Canmore, and how his role has evolved during his time with the Eagles.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: We also look ahead of what he hopes hopes to accomplish next before finishing up with a fun rapid fire round to get to know Bryson a little bit more.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: But first, before we get into that great interview, let's take a look at a very successful weekend on home ice.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: The Eagles picked up all four points against Calgary, winning 6-4 on Friday before following up with a 5-1 victory on Saturday.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: That's 11 goals over two games.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: But let's not take my word for it.
- 2:01SPEAKER_01: Let's take a look at the highlights.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: Let's start with Friday.
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: Not a pretty victory by any stretch of the word for the Cammore Eagles.
- 2:09SPEAKER_01: Got out to a big lead.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: They'll allow Calgary to come back.
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: But let's not take my word for it.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: Let's go to me with some of the highlights.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: With yellow and red trim as we are underway.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: Thanks for joining us on Flow Hockey as Draeger will take the puck back.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: Long pass.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: It'll be tipped in neatly there by Adam Mohammed.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: Going back for it.
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: Nixon Chanski rings it all the way around.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: Miln gets past her.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: Does that long shot?
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: They score! Bounced in off of a defender in front.
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: And Drager's got his first goal as a Calgary connected.
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: And it's an early one-to-nothing lead.
- 2:44SPEAKER_01: He'll play it down low, looking for Cohen Dells, who's been very hot.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: Long shot tip by Techuk behind the net.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: Dell's does on it.
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: Plays it in front.
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: Dimble.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: In front.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: That's blocked.
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: Scorp with a shot.
- 2:55SPEAKER_01: They score!
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: Take one.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: Kachuk got a piece of it in front of the net.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: You need a goal.
- 3:02SPEAKER_01: You call it Tech as the goal scoring streak continues for Chucky.
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: And it will be a one-to-one tie.
- 3:09SPEAKER_01: We got two goals, not even a minute in.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: Reversed.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: Tape to tape.
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: You'll find Karmaninsky.
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: Here comes Insinger with a step in Chucky Score! Snipson! Bryson Insinger! And it's two-one with 1640 left to go.
- 3:26SPEAKER_01: What a snipe show for Bryson.
- 3:27SPEAKER_01: Inzinger, his third of the season.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: He'll be played into the middle.
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: Here comes the Miser Morin right in the East Go! Mison Marin in front of Bossie Corner! Top jump for Moss gets the peanut butter away from the kids.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: And it's now three to one with 14-11 left to go.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: Nine seconds, ten seconds left to go.
- 3:46SPEAKER_01: Wadsworth in front, looking for a shooting lane.
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: He'll play it to Dembo.
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: Down low Kajuk.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: What a play!
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: Goal! It's in the middle with one second on the power play! Four to one Eagles! Heads up by uh Kachuk.
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: Almost 23.1.
- 4:06SPEAKER_01: Moran will keep that puck in.
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: Down low Piritan with some stuff.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: He scores! Make it Puritan! Nice city! It's five to one for the Eagles, the big man showing some skill down low for his first as an Eagle! That's off of a leg high into the highest Aussie corner.
- 4:25SPEAKER_01: Long shot they score! Tipped in front by Smith! As he seemed like an innocent shot in front, deflected by Smith.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: And the power play clicks for the Canucks.
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: It's now five to two with 1557 left to go.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: In the second period.
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: Definition of a changeup is the penalized player back out on the ice.
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: One for two on the power play.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: That shot they score! Dylan Wolves from the points! As some tired Eagles out there and look out! It's now five to three with 1039 left to go.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: Blocked closely by Hans Seminovitz.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: Down low.
- 5:01SPEAKER_01: Mill back! Score! What a goal! Tic-tack goal, and guess who?
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: It's the captain! Aiden Kachuk! That was uh that was returning the favor on Mill's power play goal! Found Kachuk all alone on the far side, and all he had to do was just glide the puck towards the net, and he did uh his shooting attempt is off of the chin pad of Gomez, and here comes Rich Holden with space on the back, and he scores!
- 5:31SPEAKER_01: What a shot by Rich Holden as Hudson Cito looks skyward, probably wants that one back, and it's six to four here for the Eagles with 17-20 left to go in the third.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: Back to Steingraf.
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: Smith turns it, fire, tipped last second, and Cito will stop it, and that will do it as the Canmore Eagles will skate to their fifth winner, fifth victory of the season.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: Final score, six to four over the Calgary Canucks.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: It wasn't pretty, but the Eagles got it done.
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: The Eagles looked to keep the momentum going, and they did so in a big, big way.
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: They didn't just dominate them on the scoreboard, they dominated them.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: Physicality, make sure you tune into the Eagles Social.
- 6:18SPEAKER_01: Go look at last week's hit of the game on Saturday night.
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: Landon Scott literally threw somebody into the Eagles bench and not just a smaller player.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: Landon Scott stood eye to eye with a six foot three forward, the same size as Scotty, and he got the better of him.
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: What a hit.
- 6:39SPEAKER_01: Let's take a look at some of the highlights.
- 6:43SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 6:43SPEAKER_01: As we are underway, thanks for joining us on Flow Hockey is Drager, who scored 17 seconds into last night's game.
- 6:51SPEAKER_01: Able to grab the puck, trying to bully his way in.
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: Nice play.
- 6:54SPEAKER_01: Gets it to Hayes.
- 6:54SPEAKER_01: Maybe a two-on-one.
- 6:55SPEAKER_01: Hayes ready to need scores! Caden Hayes! Nice great play by Hayden Carrington.
- 7:02SPEAKER_01: And it's one to nothing for the Eagles with 858 left to go.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: Caden Hayes first as an Eagle.
- 7:08SPEAKER_01: Well, there comes Dembo one-on-two.
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: Trying to drive wide off the bench.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: Here comes Insinger with a chance.
- 7:14SPEAKER_01: Insinger with a shot.
- 7:15SPEAKER_01: He scores! Low blocker, Bryson Insinger goals back-to-back games.
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: And it's two to nothing with 658 left to go.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: It's loose in front.
- 7:27SPEAKER_01: Stop.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: Keeler! Robbed by Cito! What a stop as the puck comes to him! And they can't believe it.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: That's two opportunities.
- 7:36SPEAKER_01: Or Sino was down and out.
- 7:38SPEAKER_01: And it stays out of the net with 1622 left to go here in the second period.
- 7:43SPEAKER_01: Back to Steinratz.
- 7:45SPEAKER_01: Off the bench, DeChock steals.
- 7:47SPEAKER_01: Dembo wants it.
- 7:48SPEAKER_01: DeChock turns, fires.
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: He scores! And it Tachuck stays hot! And the final minute of play as Hutchison gets 80%.
- 7:58SPEAKER_01: 20% of it went into the net.
- 8:01SPEAKER_01: And it is three to nothing now for the Eagles.
- 8:04SPEAKER_01: They'll come out.
- 8:05SPEAKER_01: Scott gets taken down.
- 8:07SPEAKER_01: No call on the play, but he's able to muscle it out.
- 8:09SPEAKER_01: And here comes a two-on-one.
- 8:10SPEAKER_01: It's Insinger Kamaninski in front.
- 8:12SPEAKER_01: Kavaninski! He scored! Miller Kamaninski!
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: And it's four-to-nothing early with 1848 left to go.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: He was winding up for the blue line on that shot.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: He knew it was coming from pass from Insinger.
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: Scott will grab it.
- 8:29SPEAKER_01: He'll play it off the glass, knocked down by Mohammed.
- 8:32SPEAKER_01: Moves around the stick check of Kachuk.
- 8:35SPEAKER_01: In front.
- 8:35SPEAKER_01: Nice pass.
- 8:36SPEAKER_01: Halat with a shot.
- 8:37SPEAKER_01: He scores.
- 8:38SPEAKER_01: Picks the corner.
- 8:39SPEAKER_01: What a shot! And once again the penalty kill.
- 8:45SPEAKER_01: Fails the Eagles.
- 8:47SPEAKER_01: And it's now four to one with 922 left to go.
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: That's Adam Halat.
- 8:53SPEAKER_01: He'll play it back to Gomez.
- 8:54SPEAKER_01: 22 seconds left to go in the power play.
- 8:56SPEAKER_01: Walks a line.
- 8:57SPEAKER_01: Over to Master Emmy.
- 8:58SPEAKER_01: Walks right in.
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: Get shot.
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: He scores! What a snipe! It's the mayor! A snipe city! Oh, and Master Rennie! And he gets a power play marker.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: 5-1 with 6-59 left to go.
- 9:11SPEAKER_01: What a shot by Mastro! Shot up by Hutchinson, but that won't matter.
- 9:17SPEAKER_01: Final two seconds left to go.
- 9:18SPEAKER_01: Here comes Hallat down the ice.
- 9:20SPEAKER_01: And that will do it.
- 9:21SPEAKER_01: The Camore Eagles sweep a back-to-back against the Calgary Canucks.
- 9:26SPEAKER_01: Final score in this one, 5-1.
- 9:29SPEAKER_01: And they'll improve to 6-2 on the season, claiming sole possession of first place.
- 9:36SPEAKER_01: Hudson Sito was absolutely spectacular on Saturday, stopping 32 of 33.
- 9:43SPEAKER_01: Got within nine minutes of that shutout, his first of the season.
- 9:47SPEAKER_01: And against a rival like Calgary, those points are always just a little bit sweeter with the Eagles settling into this homestand.
- 9:56SPEAKER_01: That's a strong way to get it started.
- 9:59SPEAKER_01: But it's a big weekend coming up.
- 10:01SPEAKER_01: We'll get into that a little bit later on.
- 10:03SPEAKER_01: But let's go to the interview portion.
- 10:06SPEAKER_01: And we sat down, like I said, with 20-year-old forward, one of the, if not the longest serving Eagle in that locker room, has been around for the last three years.
- 10:16SPEAKER_01: Of course, I'm talking about number 12, assistant captain Bryson Insinger.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: Enjoy the interview.
- 10:26SPEAKER_01: Hey, welcome back to the interview portion of Eagles Weekly, sponsored by Patty Shack Burger Barr.
- 10:31SPEAKER_01: And I'm here with 20-year-old forward Bryson Insinger, center for your Camore Eagles.
- 10:36SPEAKER_01: Bryson, how's it going today?
- 10:38SPEAKER_01: Good, how are you?
- 10:38SPEAKER_01: Not so bad.
- 10:39SPEAKER_01: Good start to the season so far.
- 10:41SPEAKER_01: Good start to uh your season as well.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: A couple of goals.
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: How do you feel the season's been going so far?
- 10:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think it's a great start.
- 10:47SPEAKER_01: Uh one of the best we've had in years.
- 10:48SPEAKER_01: One highlight already.
- 10:49SPEAKER_01: You scored the game-winning goal against Camrose with just a minute left.
- 10:53SPEAKER_01: Just walk us through that moment.
- 10:55SPEAKER_01: Uh, you see the photos of you online, you're absolutely fired up.
- 10:59SPEAKER_01: Uh, what was your feeling?
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: Did you block out there, or was it just pure relation?
- 11:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it just felt amazing.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: Uh Caroly, Caroly, put a word to it.
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: It was just, yeah, it's a great feeling.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: Play my stepbrother on the other team.
- 11:12SPEAKER_01: So who's your stepbrother?
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Ain Saxmith.
- 11:15SPEAKER_01: Some battles with him growing up there.
- 11:17SPEAKER_01: Can you tell us about one of those battles?
- 11:19SPEAKER_01: Uh it's always good to be playing against somebody or have somebody in your family that plays the same level of hockey as you to kind of challenge, right?
- 11:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, it's always just fun rather just shooting pocks in the basement or doing anything really.
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: Just yeah, it's a lot of fun having that competition.
- 11:35SPEAKER_01: Nice.
- 11:35SPEAKER_01: Well, let's let's start at the beginning here, the very beginning.
- 11:38SPEAKER_01: What's your earliest memory of playing hockey?
- 11:41SPEAKER_01: And who was the first person that kind of got you into the interest of the game?
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: Was it watching hockey on TV on a Saturday night, or was uh it's somebody forcing you to get on the ice?
- 11:51SPEAKER_01: What was your earliest memory?
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: Uh my earliest memory would be just playing Timbit's hockey in Calgary.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: Uh I can't remember the name or of our team, but uh it was my dad that got me into it, and he'd always he coached me uh for a few years growing up, and I just loved it.
- 12:05SPEAKER_01: Of course, you did grow up in Calgary there.
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: Was there a particular player or team that you idolize?
- 12:12SPEAKER_01: Obviously, the flames are in town, right?
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: Even now, like I I wear number 12 because I was just always a fan of Drum Againla growing up, so yeah, like and obviously, yeah, just Calgary.
- 12:23SPEAKER_01: I've just been a huge supporter of them.
- 12:25SPEAKER_01: What did you like about uh what drew you towards a guinla?
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: Because the Ginla was my favorite player too.
- 12:30SPEAKER_01: Um I love the way he battled on the ice, he did everything for the team.
- 12:35SPEAKER_01: What drew uh what made him, you know, you idolize him?
- 12:39SPEAKER_01: Honestly, yeah, just his his work ethic, his leadership, he was just such a strong player out there.
- 12:46SPEAKER_01: I'd always growing up, I'd watch his highlight reels, and he's just just a nasty player.
- 12:51SPEAKER_01: Did you try to emulate him on the ice, whether it's his pattern it's slap shot or his physical player, or was there like another player that you tried to, you know, you're on the ice, you score a goal, and you're like, oh Mick David or something like that?
- 13:03SPEAKER_01: Well, my my f favorite player has always been well, Ovi, Alex Ovechkin.
- 13:08SPEAKER_01: Just it's just always just a power Alice, one of the greatest goals scorer in the in the game.
- 13:13SPEAKER_01: So I don't know.
- 13:14SPEAKER_01: I try to idolize him a bit, but it's kind of hard when you're trying to match that one team of his.
- 13:19SPEAKER_01: Well, we see on the power play at the top of the circle, just trying to do your best, Alexander Ovechkin.
- 13:25SPEAKER_01: You got a hard shot out there.
- 13:26SPEAKER_01: Um, what age did hockey stop being something you did for fun, and then something you wanted to pursue seriously, where you're going to camps, and you're like, no, I actually want to take this as high as I can go.
- 13:39SPEAKER_01: Oh jeez.
- 13:40SPEAKER_01: Uh well, hockey's always just been fun for me.
- 13:42SPEAKER_01: It's just one of the best things in my life.
- 13:45SPEAKER_01: But when I really got I became serious, I and I was like playing lacrosse at the time, and I had to choose one or the other, so I chose hockey.
- 13:53SPEAKER_01: Where'd you play lacrosse?
- 13:54SPEAKER_01: Obviously, Calgary there.
- 13:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the Calgary uh axeman.
- 13:59SPEAKER_01: And what age did you play uh lacrosse to?
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: Probably nine years old.
- 14:03SPEAKER_01: Were you a sniper out there or were you defense?
- 14:05SPEAKER_01: Oh, I was a sniper, yeah.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: That oh boy, that oh boy.
- 14:08SPEAKER_01: I used to be goalie actually playing lacrosse as well.
- 14:10SPEAKER_01: Undefeated and goalie, not a big deal.
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: Um, was there a defining moment in that where were you decided deciding either hockey or lacrosse?
- 14:18SPEAKER_01: How was that conversation with who did you turn to to make that decision?
- 14:21SPEAKER_01: Did you just talk to a dad, coach, anything like that?
- 14:24SPEAKER_01: What made you make that decision between hockey and lacrosse?
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: Uh really, I was just much better at hockey.
- 14:31SPEAKER_01: So I kind of just stuck to that.
- 14:33SPEAKER_01: And yeah, and when hockey was taking up all my extra time, I was like, all right, then no more, no more lacrosse.
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I had a pretty impressive season.
- 14:41SPEAKER_01: I did a little deep dive into your stats there with the U-17 Calgary Bulls program.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: Uh, you put up 28 goals, th 53 points in 38 games.
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: What do you remember most about that season in your 17 year?
- 14:54SPEAKER_01: And just how much confidence did that give you heading into junior hockey?
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that was yeah, that was a massive uh boost in my confidence.
- 15:01SPEAKER_01: I was just after I got cut from U18, was not feeling the best, came down, decided all a bunch of my friends on the team.
- 15:07SPEAKER_01: So it was nice hanging out with them every day at the rank and spending good time with them.
- 15:12SPEAKER_01: But yeah, scoring, putting up numbers is just felt really nice and it was able to get my confidence up.
- 15:18SPEAKER_01: And obviously, so you talk about getting cut there.
- 15:21SPEAKER_01: Um what were some uh obstacles you had to overcome?
- 15:24SPEAKER_01: Obviously, getting cut, I remember getting cut is tough.
- 15:27SPEAKER_01: Um, who did you turn to to you know keep that mindset up, to get keep that positive mindset up where you're not getting down and then it affects your play on the ice?
- 15:37SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, it was always just my parents there always just saying just to make the best of the situation.
- 15:42SPEAKER_01: Like it sucks, obviously, but I just have to keep pushing forward and my time will come.
- 15:48SPEAKER_01: Was there maybe when you got cut, or maybe there's another moment in your career?
- 15:53SPEAKER_01: Was there ever doubts that you thought that junior hockey was even attainable, that you would be playing, you know, junior hockey here in Canmore, getting looked at by other teams?
- 16:03SPEAKER_01: Was there a point in your career where you're like, man, maybe maybe this isn't going to happen?
- 16:08SPEAKER_01: No, I never not too often have I ever felt that.
- 16:11SPEAKER_01: Like, yeah, like maybe just after me and Kyle, I was like, oh, this it's gonna be a hard road, but other than that, I felt like I was always up to skill level.
- 16:20SPEAKER_01: I was playing the same year I got caught, I was playing preseason games for Camor, so I was getting kind of used to the hockey.
- 16:27SPEAKER_01: And so obviously, it's a great segue there.
- 16:30SPEAKER_01: You joined the Eagles as a 17-year-old in 2023.
- 16:33SPEAKER_01: Take me back to your first training camp.
- 16:35SPEAKER_01: What was some of the what do you remember walking into that dressing room and uh you know experiencing junior hockey the first time?
- 16:43SPEAKER_01: Oh, it was it was incredible.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: It was just all the guys are just so close.
- 16:47SPEAKER_01: You can see the bonds and friendships that formed, and uh yeah, and then obviously I had to meet new guys, I had to find find my own path.
- 16:56SPEAKER_01: But uh yeah, so uh met a few friends and wait.
- 17:00SPEAKER_01: Was there somebody that took you underneath your wing?
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: Maybe they saw that you were nervous coming into the dressing room that you kind of you know were able to look up to as an older guy just to make sure that you felt part of the team.
- 17:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'd always say uh rather Emmanuel Hudson or Logan Ziegler.
- 17:16SPEAKER_01: Both uh were 19-year-olds, my first year.
- 17:20SPEAKER_01: And yeah, Huddy, assistant captain, he was just such a great guy, always the happiest guy of the rank, always including everyone.
- 17:28SPEAKER_01: I think my first week, or maybe like yeah, probably in the first week, Vinus all over, just had a nice time at his house.
- 17:35SPEAKER_01: It was like I was just enjoying myself.
- 17:36SPEAKER_01: I was like, this is junior high.
- 17:38SPEAKER_01: That's great.
- 17:39SPEAKER_01: Was there a welcome to the AJHL moment, maybe in your first game, uh, a big hit or something like that?
- 17:45SPEAKER_01: Was there a kind of a welcome where you just had to take a step back and be like, whoa, this is kind of the big time here?
- 17:51SPEAKER_01: I don't know if it was my first game.
- 17:54SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 17:54SPEAKER_01: The the biggest like welcome I felt was after I scored my first goal.
- 17:59SPEAKER_01: It was just an incredible feeling.
- 18:01SPEAKER_01: Uh the whole team was just so happy.
- 18:03SPEAKER_01: It was who is it against?
- 18:05SPEAKER_01: Uh Sherwood Park.
- 18:06SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay.
- 18:07SPEAKER_01: So now in the BC, what what was it?
- 18:09SPEAKER_01: Was it snipe, tipping, dirty goal?
- 18:11SPEAKER_01: What was it?
- 18:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I uh came down, sniped from top of the circles, and I am.
- 18:17SPEAKER_01: I just shot it and I was lucky enough it went in, and I don't even know what to do with.
- 18:21SPEAKER_01: I'm just kind of blocked out.
- 18:22SPEAKER_01: You you did that you did me where every time I get a puck at the plane, I just close my eyes and shoot.
- 18:26SPEAKER_01: I don't even try to pick corners, and then sometimes it goes in, most times it doesn't.
- 18:29SPEAKER_01: When you look at the organization today, so look back to when you were 17 to now.
- 18:35SPEAKER_01: What's the biggest difference you've seen from the team you walked in with and now the team that you're part of now in your 20-year-old season?
- 18:43SPEAKER_01: The biggest difference I can say is probably the support.
- 18:46SPEAKER_01: Like I started off, we were probably getting like 400 fans at each game.
- 18:50SPEAKER_01: Now we're pretty much selling out each game.
- 18:52SPEAKER_01: Fans are loving it.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: There's so much more support from the community.
- 18:56SPEAKER_01: Talk about that Aussie corner.
- 18:58SPEAKER_01: That first time you came down.
- 19:00SPEAKER_01: When did that celebration start?
- 19:02SPEAKER_01: Actually, I believe it started uh my captain, my first year.
- 19:06SPEAKER_01: I think one game he just jumped in the glass and we all started doing it.
- 19:09SPEAKER_01: It's Roadie Tallman, and I think that's where it started.
- 19:12SPEAKER_01: So so what what's that feeling just to celebrate with the fans there to go down at either end and just slam to the boards?
- 19:20SPEAKER_01: How what's that feeling?
- 19:21SPEAKER_01: Oh, it's such a great feeling.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: Just seeing them all cheer.
- 19:23SPEAKER_01: Like this is their town, their their community, and we're we're just playing in it, but it's a great feeling, and it also just to boost morale for the team.
- 19:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and then obviously last season's big championship victory there.
- 19:35SPEAKER_01: You've seen a lot of players come and go.
- 19:37SPEAKER_01: You've been a main say.
- 19:38SPEAKER_01: I think you're actually the longest-serving Eagle right now on the team with you, Cohen Dows, Aiden Touchak.
- 19:44SPEAKER_01: Um, how's the culture inside that dressing room changed over the years?
- 19:47SPEAKER_01: And what do you think helped turn this organization around to a championship team?
- 19:52SPEAKER_01: Uh, I'd say just our whole team is just so close.
- 19:55SPEAKER_01: Like, there's it's not divided how it like possibly used to be.
- 19:59SPEAKER_01: Like, obviously, we all still did stuff together, but now just everyone loves everyone, and there's no no conflict really.
- 20:08SPEAKER_01: Now you're one of the older guys, younger guys looking up to you.
- 20:11SPEAKER_01: What's that transition to being like?
- 20:13SPEAKER_01: You're wearing a letter this year from going to somebody who you know is in the dress room, maybe somebody's not, you know, asking you questions, looking up to you.
- 20:21SPEAKER_01: Now you're the guy.
- 20:22SPEAKER_01: You're one of the guys, you've been around here for a long time, you know what it means to be a cam or eagle.
- 20:27SPEAKER_01: Um, do you ever catch yourself doing things that older guys used to do to you?
- 20:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, a little bit.
- 20:34SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, there are there are times, and it does feel weird just because I can still remember the time where I was like, oh wow, that's that's what they did to me.
- 20:43SPEAKER_01: And it's just how how it goes.
- 20:46SPEAKER_01: In your first two seasons, I hate to bring this up.
- 20:49SPEAKER_01: A couple of tough playoff losses.
- 20:51SPEAKER_01: There, game seven lost to Drum Heller 2025, a year later, but you won the championship.
- 20:57SPEAKER_01: You wrote raised the franchise's first AJHL championship.
- 21:01SPEAKER_01: What changed in that group from 2025 to 2016 to allow you guys to finally get over the hump and lift that trophy?
- 21:09SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, I don't know, probably just a lot of work, a lot of work, and definitely some definitely some bad blood.
- 21:18SPEAKER_01: Like us my first year we lost to white court in seven.
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: Then um, and yeah, then my second year we lost to drum in seven, which both times just sucked, and it just felt so nice being them in playoffs, especially white court for the championship on their home ice as well.
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: Is there something about like that elation when that final buzzer rank?
- 21:40SPEAKER_01: What was the feeling just being with this organization for so long?
- 21:44SPEAKER_01: How did you feel?
- 21:45SPEAKER_01: Oh, I was just shocked.
- 21:46SPEAKER_01: I was just I was I I couldn't believe we did it.
- 21:49SPEAKER_01: I was just I was so happy.
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: Just getting to celebrate probably the one of the best moments of my life.
- 21:54SPEAKER_01: When hopefully this year we can raise that again.
- 21:57SPEAKER_01: That'd be Centennial Cup.
- 21:59SPEAKER_01: How was the centennial?
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: Cup in terms of you're playing against the top players in each league.
- 22:04SPEAKER_01: Just how was the competition?
- 22:05SPEAKER_01: Was it a little bit of a change playing against teams that you've never seen before?
- 22:10SPEAKER_01: Or were you guys felt did you feel like you were prepared based on film and everything like that?
- 22:15SPEAKER_01: Or did it take a little bit of you know, like that first period to get used to teams there?
- 22:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it definitely took a minute, like definitely down uh the in the east, they play much different style of hockey than I'd say the west, but so that was definitely a different change, but we like we adapted and we figured out.
- 22:32SPEAKER_01: Like, unfortunately, we did lose, but it happened.
- 22:36SPEAKER_01: It came you guys came close though.
- 22:37SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 22:38SPEAKER_01: You guys came close.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: How are you as a player when you first came to Camor compared to you are now?
- 22:43SPEAKER_01: What about your game have has changed a little bit that you feel like you've improved compared to that 17-year-old that used to play for the Buffaloes?
- 22:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well playing in U17, I was able to just stay count through everyone, and it was much different style of defense than AJ, obviously.
- 23:03SPEAKER_01: So it was um it was a big adjustment uh coming in and relearning pretty much everything.
- 23:09SPEAKER_01: First things first, you have to learn the defense, as that's the most important thing to win a championship.
- 23:15SPEAKER_01: It was uh it was definitely a process.
- 23:18SPEAKER_01: Obviously, we're at the beginning of the season here, we're not thinking about the end, but have you started thinking about life after junior hockey?
- 23:26SPEAKER_01: Um, whether it's playing at the next level, pursuing an education, or exploring exploring opportunities outside the sport.
- 23:33SPEAKER_01: Have you thought about that at all?
- 23:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, it's it comes up.
- 23:37SPEAKER_01: I I try to look a little bit in the moment and just enjoy enjoy the time I still have, but yeah, it definitely definitely makes you think about what what you're gonna do and your uh your future and what how you're gonna attack it.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: Any ideas what you want to do for the rest of your life?
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: Is university in the cards, or what what would you want to you know grow up to be?
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: I wanted to be a firefighter, and then my dad said that you're 90 pounds soaking wet, you would die and everybody else would die.
- 24:05SPEAKER_01: So what would you uh want to be there?
- 24:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I've I've actually also been wanting to do fire.
- 24:10SPEAKER_01: I'd I'd want to do school first, get an education, uh hopefully through hockey.
- 24:14SPEAKER_01: And then from there, yeah.
- 24:16SPEAKER_01: My my dad's a firefighter, my mom's a nurse, Seth has a cop.
- 24:20SPEAKER_01: So we have all the blood in the emergency blood in the line.
- 24:23SPEAKER_01: So yeah, it'd be and it's it'd just be such a fun job to have.
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: Look out, Bryson and Singer, firefighter in your future, pulling cats out of trees, that kind of thing.
- 24:35SPEAKER_01: Couple more questions here for you there, Singer.
- 24:37SPEAKER_01: When you look back as a kid who first started playing hockey in Calgary, what do you think that person, that kid would be most surprised to learn about the journey you've had so far?
- 24:47SPEAKER_01: I don't really know what you would think.
- 24:49SPEAKER_01: Uh oh, you might be disappointed I'm not in the NHL, but maybe one day there's so obviously what do you still want to accomplish before your time as an eagle is over?
- 24:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it'd be nice to win Satanian cow.
- 25:02SPEAKER_01: That's that's the overall, that's the main goal.
- 25:04SPEAKER_01: And then that'd just be the the greatest moment.
- 25:07SPEAKER_01: Alright, well, so Singer, we're gonna do a shot clock, 30-second shot clock kind of activity.
- 25:13SPEAKER_01: So I'm just gonna give you a question.
- 25:14SPEAKER_01: First thing that pops to your head.
- 25:16SPEAKER_01: Alright, let's do it.
- 25:17SPEAKER_01: What's your go-to guilty pleasure food?
- 25:20SPEAKER_01: Candy.
- 25:21SPEAKER_01: Candy candy.
- 25:22SPEAKER_01: Uh maybe like peanut butter MS.
- 25:24SPEAKER_01: That's that's the correct answer there.
- 25:26SPEAKER_01: If you could attend any sporting event in the world, what would it be?
- 25:31SPEAKER_01: Probably like a game seven Stanley Cup Finals.
- 25:34SPEAKER_01: That is also the correct answer.
- 25:36SPEAKER_01: What's your most embarrassing song on your playlist?
- 25:39SPEAKER_01: I don't really have too many embarrassing songs on definitely have a playlist with a bunch of white girl music.
- 25:47SPEAKER_01: That's alright.
- 25:47SPEAKER_01: I also have that too.
- 25:49SPEAKER_01: If you can have any superpower, what would it be?
- 25:52SPEAKER_01: Probably super speed.
- 25:54SPEAKER_01: Uh what's one thing you're surprisingly bad at?
- 25:58SPEAKER_01: Me is dancing.
- 25:59SPEAKER_01: I can't dance.
- 26:01SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, I'm not I'm not the best dancer.
- 26:06SPEAKER_01: I try.
- 26:07SPEAKER_01: If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life, what would it be?
- 26:11SPEAKER_01: Go miracle.
- 26:12SPEAKER_01: What's your dream vacation destiny?
- 26:17SPEAKER_01: If you could have dinner with three people, dead or alive, who would you have to do that?
- 26:25SPEAKER_01: I'll go Alex Imagin.
- 26:28SPEAKER_01: I think I'd probably go like Kevin Harden doing Rob Johnson just for some comedy.
- 26:32SPEAKER_01: I like that.
- 26:32SPEAKER_01: I like that.
- 26:33SPEAKER_01: What's your favorite book?
- 26:36SPEAKER_01: Uh Harry Potter.
- 26:39SPEAKER_01: What's one thing the Eagles fans would be surprised to learn about Bryson?
- 26:45SPEAKER_01: Surprised.
- 26:46SPEAKER_01: Reminds it the shot clock on that.
- 26:48SPEAKER_01: No idea.
- 26:49SPEAKER_01: No, that's all right.
- 26:50SPEAKER_01: Well, Singer, really do appreciate you joining us on you know Eagles Weekly.
- 26:55SPEAKER_01: You're a heck of a player.
- 26:56SPEAKER_01: Really fortunate we get to I get to watch your 20-year-old season and uh let's go get that centennial cup.
- 27:01SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 27:04SPEAKER_02: Warning.
- 27:04SPEAKER_02: The following message may cause extreme hunger.
- 27:11SPEAKER_02: We're talking juicy burgers, crispy fries, and flavor that'll have you coming back for more at Patty Shack Burger Bar in Canmore, where they are serving up the kind of burgers that make you forget about everything else.
- 27:23SPEAKER_02: So when the burger craving hits, you know where to go.
- 27:26SPEAKER_02: Patty Shack Burger Bar in Canmore.
- 27:29SPEAKER_02: I'm hungry, leave happy.
- 27:31SPEAKER_02: A proud supporter of your Canmore Eagles.
- 27:34SPEAKER_01: A big thank you to Singer for joining us this week.
- 27:37SPEAKER_01: It's always good to hear about the journey that brings a player to Canmore, just how you grow as a player coming in from AAA, where you're probably a dominant player, one of the best players in the league, and working your way up to that point again.
- 27:53SPEAKER_01: As you know, watching Eagles games this season, he's an impact player.
- 27:57SPEAKER_01: He's a quiet leader, he leads by example.
- 28:00SPEAKER_01: And I'm looking really forward to seeing his career play out here with the Eagles.
- 28:05SPEAKER_01: Thank you again to Bryson and thanks to Patty Shack Burger Bar for presenting our weekly player interview.
- 28:12SPEAKER_01: And let's take a look at the week ahead.
- 28:17SPEAKER_01: Looking ahead, the Eagles have two big tests coming to Alex Cletter Arena this weekend, starting Friday night against the Grand Prairie Storm.
- 28:25SPEAKER_01: Canmore and Grand Prairie both enter this weekend at 6 2, 12 points apiece, on top of the KJHL standings.
- 28:35SPEAKER_01: The Eagles have scored 39 goals through just eight games.
- 28:38SPEAKER_01: That's five per night.
- 28:40SPEAKER_01: Well, the Storm have allowed only 22.
- 28:43SPEAKER_01: It's a battle of great offense against great defense.
- 28:47SPEAKER_01: And it's going to be a good one Friday night.
- 28:49SPEAKER_01: Make sure you get your tickets at CamoreEagles.ca slash tickets.
- 28:53SPEAKER_01: And on Saturday, first time we're going to see them, the Fort McMurray Oil Barons.
- 28:58SPEAKER_01: They've only played five games up to this point, but they are 4-1 on the season.
- 29:04SPEAKER_01: And including a perfect 2-0 record away from home.
- 29:08SPEAKER_01: The road numbers are particularly impressive for the Oil Barons.
- 29:11SPEAKER_01: Eight goals scored, only three goals allowed over two wins.
- 29:15SPEAKER_01: They have scored 18 and allowed 15.
- 29:19SPEAKER_01: So a little bit more of a balanced attack.
- 29:21SPEAKER_01: Let's see if the Eagles can take advantage on Saturday.
- 29:23SPEAKER_01: Once again, get your tickets.
- 29:26SPEAKER_01: I want to make a little bit of a challenge out there to our Eagles faithful.
- 29:31SPEAKER_01: Let's pack the house Friday, Saturday night.
- 29:34SPEAKER_01: Let's get loud.
- 29:35SPEAKER_01: Let's stack that beer tower all the way to the top of the glass.
- 29:40SPEAKER_01: Let's cheer our boys on.
- 29:42SPEAKER_01: Let's sell it out.
- 29:42SPEAKER_01: Let's see if we can sell out both games.
- 29:44SPEAKER_01: That's my challenge for you.
- 29:46SPEAKER_01: Like I said, you can get your tickets at CamoreEagles.ca slash tickets.
- 29:51SPEAKER_01: Both games get underway at 7 o'clock.
- 29:53SPEAKER_01: And the player of the week this week, don't worry, I did not forget, before we end today's show, it's gotta go to Bryson InSinger as well.
- 30:01SPEAKER_01: Aiden to Chuck, it was close, but InSinger scored both games, including a three-point night on Saturday.
- 30:08SPEAKER_01: Maybe because we interviewed him as well, gave him a little bit of push above Aiden to Chuck.
- 30:13SPEAKER_01: Aiden to Chuck was the remaining AJHL player of the week.
- 30:17SPEAKER_01: Let's give it to Stinger here this week.
- 30:19SPEAKER_01: He is your Eagles weekly star of the week.
- 30:23SPEAKER_01: Great job, Stinger.
- 30:24SPEAKER_01: Let's see if we can keep that momentum rolling heading into a big weekend, a big measuring stick weekend to see just where the Eagles will sit for the rest of the season.
- 30:32SPEAKER_01: And that will do it here for episode four.
- 30:36SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much for joining us.
- 30:39SPEAKER_01: Don't worry, we'll be back next week with another player interview and more highlights recapping the week that was.
- 30:45SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much for listening.
- 30:47SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much to our wonderful sponsor, Patty Jack Berger Barr.
- 30:50SPEAKER_01: Make sure you go check them out in the shops at Camor.
- 30:53SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much to Bryson Instinger for the amazing interview.
- 30:57SPEAKER_01: And we'll be back.
- 30:58SPEAKER_01: Have a great weekend, folks.
- 30:59SPEAKER_01: If you see me in the ring, come say hi.
- 31:01SPEAKER_01: But until next week, I'm Chris Klein, and we will catch you down the road.
- 31:05SPEAKER_02: Thanks for listening to Eagles Weekly.
- 31:08SPEAKER_02: New episodes every week.
