- 0:00Speaker 1: That is Forray. Where is my husband? One of two
- 0:03Speaker 1: point seven? It's Kiss FM, Los Angeles. Very exciting global
- 0:09Speaker 1: superstar is here, Madison Beer going, Madison Money. Thanks great
- 0:15Speaker 1: to have you with us in the studio, and congratulations
- 0:18Speaker 1: on so many things that are going on. I don't
- 0:21Speaker 1: know where to start. Let's start by, I guess saying
- 0:24Speaker 1: that your new album Market is out now, and we're
- 0:27Speaker 1: gonna play a bittersweet here in a second. You've been
- 0:30Speaker 1: working for a long time. This is not something that's
- 0:32Speaker 1: happened overnight for You've been working hard. What has been
- 0:37Speaker 1: different or felt different for you this time? As it
- 0:40Speaker 1: all seems to be settling in a really big and
- 0:42Speaker 1: you said therapeutic way too.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Yeah, well, thank you. I mean it's really an exciting
- 0:47Speaker 2: time for me. I think you know, I, like you said,
- 0:49Speaker 2: I've been doing this for a long time. For people
- 0:51Speaker 2: who don't know, I got time when I was twelve
- 0:52Speaker 2: and I'm twenty six now, so it's been a while. Yeah,
- 0:56Speaker 2: it has not been overnight. And I think that that's
- 0:58Speaker 2: honestly been such an amazing blessing disguise, and I think
- 1:01Speaker 2: that it's given me a really great perspective and also
- 1:04Speaker 2: appreciation for all of this stuff, and has also given
- 1:07Speaker 2: me the opportunity to really grow my fan base, my community,
- 1:10Speaker 2: and it feels like they're all on this journey with me.
- 1:12Speaker 2: So it is really therapeutic and it's something I feel
- 1:14Speaker 2: like I can enjoy even more so now than I
- 1:17Speaker 2: would have, you know, maybe ten years ago.
- 1:18Speaker 1: But you know, when it's in your DNA and you
- 1:21Speaker 1: know you can do it, and you know you've got
- 1:23Speaker 1: it as you're growing up. I mean twelve is very young,
- 1:25Speaker 1: but like eighteen, nineteen twenty, you know you've got it,
- 1:27Speaker 1: you know you can do it, you visualize it. It
- 1:29Speaker 1: can be frustrating and it's it's hard to say that
- 1:33Speaker 1: then you look back in hindsight and say it was
- 1:35Speaker 1: a blessing, right, Yeah, Well, once you get there, it
- 1:38Speaker 1: really is totally Yeah.
- 1:39Speaker 2: I mean I was dropped from my record label when
- 1:41Speaker 2: I was sixteen, and so it was something that I
- 1:43Speaker 2: kind of had to pick myself up and be like, wait,
- 1:45Speaker 2: am I not going to ever succeed and do all
- 1:47Speaker 2: these things? And I think, like I said, it definitely
- 1:49Speaker 2: reframed my perspective and also kind of reframed what I
- 1:52Speaker 2: think successes. And I think that That's a really exciting
- 1:55Speaker 2: thing because now I can enjoy, you know, talking to
- 1:58Speaker 2: you and being at these stations and having people you know,
- 2:01Speaker 2: it feels like kind of pay attention now. But I
- 2:03Speaker 2: think I'm the most grateful for like my fans and
- 2:05Speaker 2: the people who have really stuck with me through it all.
- 2:06Speaker 2: So it's for all of it. It makes it better,
- 2:08Speaker 2: it makes it more fun.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Yeah, Okay, let's talk about the concept locket. From what
- 2:14Speaker 1: I read and understand, you thought about this as the
- 2:17Speaker 1: lens through which to look for the album first. Yeah, yeah,
- 2:22Speaker 1: And what was the idea behind it when you first
- 2:24Speaker 1: started to think about it being locket the album?
- 2:27Speaker 2: Honestly, it was just a word. It sounds stupid, but
- 2:29Speaker 2: I really just liked that word, and I thought it
- 2:32Speaker 2: just kind of embodied. It felt feminine, it felt vintage,
- 2:36Speaker 2: It felt like something that obviously is metaphorical, like you
- 2:39Speaker 2: can hold memories in it or keepsakes. And then that
- 2:42Speaker 2: kind of just snowballed into what I felt like the
- 2:44Speaker 2: album was about. But it wasn't like I went into
- 2:46Speaker 2: it with this concept and I was like, Oh, I'm
- 2:48Speaker 2: gonna write things that are memories that fit in my locket.
- 2:51Speaker 2: I kind of just loved the word, and then it
- 2:53Speaker 2: just all developed naturally. And it also kind of made
- 2:56Speaker 2: sense for me because I feel like I've spoken about
- 2:59Speaker 2: albums and psych goals and eras and whatnot, and sometimes
- 3:02Speaker 2: it feels like you release something and then you kind
- 3:06Speaker 2: of put it on a shelf and you move on
- 3:07Speaker 2: from it, but it always is part of you and exists,
- 3:09Speaker 2: and so I feel like a lockett is that literal
- 3:11Speaker 2: item that now I can keep my past albums in
- 3:14Speaker 2: my experiences and also this this new project. So yeah,
- 3:19Speaker 2: honestly it was just a word, though it wasn't really
- 3:20Speaker 2: it wasn't really a concept, and then it just all
- 3:22Speaker 2: I feel like, hopefully makes sense upon.
- 3:24Speaker 1: This each song in its own locket and you're in
- 3:28Speaker 1: your mind, I think.
- 3:28Speaker 2: So, yeah, they all feel like like important memories and moments.
- 3:32Speaker 2: I mean, I've had conversations with people about, you know,
- 3:34Speaker 2: there's this is a breakup album and it's it's emotional
- 3:37Speaker 2: and is it up and down and whatnot, And people
- 3:38Speaker 2: are like, is it hard to release songs that you
- 3:40Speaker 2: know you might not feel that same way now that
- 3:42Speaker 2: you did when you record them. But I think that's
- 3:44Speaker 2: the perfect thing for a locket. You know it's it's
- 3:46Speaker 2: a part of me and that shaped me and whatnot.
- 3:48Speaker 1: So now is there a symbolic lockett that had two
- 3:52Speaker 1: faces in it that you cut one of the faces
- 3:54Speaker 1: out of.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Honestly, my locketts really have like my cats in them,
- 3:58Speaker 2: so they're in there.
- 4:01Speaker 1: There's no two faces in your locket now, no, no
- 4:03Speaker 1: two faces.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Just what are the cat stands? I'm so glad you
- 4:07Speaker 2: asked Mooki and maple. Oh, yes, I found I found
- 4:13Speaker 2: Mooky on the on the side of the road the
- 4:14Speaker 2: night the Dodgers won the World Series. I love and
- 4:18Speaker 2: she also looks kind of like a cow like. Her
- 4:20Speaker 2: print is cow like, So MOOKI moo.
- 4:22Speaker 1: It all works, all right, Madison, Beer's here, Let's take
- 4:24Speaker 1: a break, let's come back, Let's play some music. One
- 4:26Speaker 1: or two point seven Kiss FM about to pay another
- 4:29Speaker 1: bill as well, one thousand dollars for you. Next it
- 4:34Speaker 1: is kiss FM. I mean, that is the sound if
- 4:38Speaker 1: somebody has been doing it for a long time, but
- 4:40Speaker 1: it's still so fresh and we love it. I to
- 4:42Speaker 1: you was singing it off key beyond off key? Did
- 4:47Speaker 1: she hear her? Sorry? I'm so sorry. So all right,
- 4:56Speaker 1: now when you listen to your song like that you
- 4:59Speaker 1: hear it, are your be a car uber whatever?
- 5:01Speaker 2: And it comes I was in the car last night
- 5:02Speaker 2: and it came on what Runs What Runs through You? Like,
- 5:06Speaker 2: what do you feel? Okay? So first thing I feel
- 5:08Speaker 2: is my phone must be plugged in and I must
- 5:11Speaker 2: be playing this on my phone. And like, I'm not
- 5:13Speaker 2: even joking. We got in the car last night and
- 5:15Speaker 2: we turned the car on and I just hear a
- 5:16Speaker 2: bittersweet and I'm like, oh, my phone must be plugged in.
- 5:19Speaker 2: And then I see like one or two seven Kiss
- 5:21Speaker 2: FM is playing it. And then afterwards they're like, I
- 5:23Speaker 2: don't know who said it, but someone was like, well,
- 5:24Speaker 2: you know, we got Madison beer on here, and then
- 5:26Speaker 2: I realized it was on the radio. But genuinely, the
- 5:28Speaker 2: first thing I do is check to see if it's
- 5:29Speaker 2: playing for my OX. When I realize it's not, it's
- 5:31Speaker 2: so exciting. It's so cool to just I don't know.
- 5:34Speaker 2: It also always feels very like nothing feels like a
- 5:36Speaker 2: coincidence because I would have had to get in the
- 5:38Speaker 2: car at that perfect moment and catch it. It's what
- 5:40Speaker 2: only three minutes long, So it always feels like a
- 5:42Speaker 2: sign that I'm hopefully on the right track and it's
- 5:45Speaker 2: it's very affirming and really that's awesome.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Yeah that was Kayla. I think that was on e
- 5:50Speaker 1: J or Kayla. I'm not quite sure. I was asleep.
- 5:52Speaker 1: But when you think about the people that have responded,
- 5:56Speaker 1: reacted and felt something from your song, that to me
- 5:59Speaker 1: must be the magic. People who you don't know, you've
- 6:02Speaker 1: never met, Yeah, you may never meet them. They are moved,
- 6:05Speaker 1: it resonates, they feel something, they relate that to me
- 6:08Speaker 1: must be some incredible, superpower magic feelings.
- 6:10Speaker 2: It's the best thing ever. I think music is obviously
- 6:12Speaker 2: such a universal language and connecting with people through it
- 6:16Speaker 2: is so special and amazing. And obviously you guys do
- 6:19Speaker 2: this in your around music all day every day, and
- 6:20Speaker 2: you can see how much impacts people and they get
- 6:23Speaker 2: in their cars, they turn on the radio. It can
- 6:24Speaker 2: change your whole day and turn your mood around. And
- 6:27Speaker 2: I just think it's very powerful and I feel lucky
- 6:29Speaker 2: to be in this industry and to do this. So, yeah, you.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Know you exude gratefulness. You can feel your gratefulness in
- 6:36Speaker 1: all of that. So Lockett is out now. Tickets to
- 6:40Speaker 1: the Lockett Tour are on sale at ticketmaster dot com.
- 6:44Speaker 1: What can you reveal about the Lockett tour.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Oh, it's just gonna be so fun and if you're listening,
- 6:49Speaker 2: I hope to see you there. And I don't honestly
- 6:51Speaker 2: want to reveal too much, well partially because I don't
- 6:54Speaker 2: have any idea what I'm going to be doing yet.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Still working on all everything, but I don't know. I
- 7:00Speaker 2: know that I'm going to obviously want to put on
- 7:02Speaker 2: This is the biggest tour I've ever done, and I
- 7:03Speaker 2: want to put on the best show possible. And I
- 7:05Speaker 2: just want to share a night with people and dance
- 7:08Speaker 2: around and have a good time. So that's that's at
- 7:10Speaker 2: least what I could tell you. You can expect at the minimum.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Twenty fourth is the key of form, so you'll see
- 7:15Speaker 2: what comes to your fruation. Thank you so much for coming. Congratulations,
