- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to Real Talk with Mike D. All right. Welcome
- 0:06Speaker 1: back to Real Talk with Mike D. I am Mike D.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Still looking for the love of my life. Yes, I am.
- 0:17Speaker 1: I am still looking for the love of my life.
- 0:21Speaker 1: You ever reach a point in your life where you
- 0:22Speaker 1: look around and realize, man, I thought I'd have this
- 0:26Speaker 1: figured out by now. Maybe you thought you'd be married.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Maybe you thought you'd have the house, the career, the family,
- 0:34Speaker 1: the whole picture. And maybe some of those things happened,
- 0:38Speaker 1: and maybe some did not. But somewhere along the way,
- 0:42Speaker 1: you find yourself standing in the middle of your life,
- 0:44Speaker 1: looking around and wondering, where is my person? That's where
- 0:48Speaker 1: I am today. I'm a middle-aged man. I've been through relationships.
- 0:53Speaker 1: I've been through heartbreak. I've made mistakes, and I've learned
- 0:56Speaker 1: some lessons the hard way. And I'm still looking for
- 0:59Speaker 1: the love of my life. And you know what? I'm
- 1:02Speaker 1: not embarrassed to say it. Because I don't think there's
- 1:05Speaker 1: an expiration date on love. There's this idea that once
- 1:10Speaker 1: you reach a certain age, you're supposed to stop looking.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Like love is something you're supposed to find when you're young.
- 1:17Speaker 1: You meet somebody in their 20s. You get married. You
- 1:21Speaker 1: grow old together. And if that didn't happen for you,
- 1:24Speaker 1: somehow you missed your opportunity. I don't believe that. I
- 1:29Speaker 1: think some people find love early. Some find it later.
- 1:34Speaker 1: And some people have to go through a whole lot
- 1:36Speaker 1: of wrong relationships before they finally understand what the right
- 1:39Speaker 1: one is supposed to feel like. And maybe that's where
- 1:42Speaker 1: I am. Maybe everything I've been through wasn't wasted. Maybe
- 1:48Speaker 1: it was preparation. Because when you're younger, you can fall
- 1:53Speaker 1: in love with an idea. You can fall in love
- 1:56Speaker 1: with someone's looks. You can fall in love with excitement.
- 2:00Speaker 1: You can confuse chemistry with compatibility. But when you get older,
- 2:05Speaker 1: you start wanting something different. You want peace. You want honesty.
- 2:11Speaker 1: And you want somebody you can laugh with. Somebody you
- 2:15Speaker 1: can sit next to on the couch with and not
- 2:19Speaker 1: have to say a word. You don't want somebody who
- 2:22Speaker 1: doesn't make you question where you stand. You want somebody
- 2:25Speaker 1: who chooses you. Not because they need you. Not because
- 2:29Speaker 1: they're afraid to be alone. But because they genuinely want
- 2:33Speaker 1: to spend their life with you. And that's what I'm
- 2:36Speaker 1: looking for. I'm not looking for perfect. Because I've lived
- 2:41Speaker 1: long enough to know that perfect does not exist. I'm
- 2:45Speaker 1: looking for real. I want somebody who can look at
- 2:49Speaker 1: me and see more than my age. See more than
- 2:52Speaker 1: my mistakes. See more than the things I've been through.
- 2:57Speaker 1: I want her to see the man underneath all of it.
- 3:00Speaker 1: The man who still got dreams. The man who still
- 3:04Speaker 1: gets excited about the little things. The man who still
- 3:07Speaker 1: wants to watch a sunset with somebody. Still wants to
- 3:11Speaker 1: take a road trip. And still wants to sit around
- 3:14Speaker 1: a fire late at night and talk about everything and
- 3:17Speaker 1: absolutely nothing. Still wants to hold somebody's hand. Still wants
- 3:23Speaker 1: that feeling of coming home. And knowing somebody is happy
- 3:26Speaker 1: you're there. That's what I'm looking for. Maybe that's why
- 3:31Speaker 1: dating at this age can be so complicated. We've all
- 3:34Speaker 1: got history. Everybody comes with baggage. Everybody has scars. Everybody
- 3:40Speaker 1: has necks. Everybody has stories they don't necessarily want to
- 3:45Speaker 1: tell on the first date. And that's okay. I'm not
- 3:48Speaker 1: looking for somebody with scars. I'm looking for somebody who
- 3:54Speaker 1: learned from theirs. because I've got mine too. I've made mistakes.
- 3:59Speaker 1: I've said things I wish I could take back. I've
- 4:01Speaker 1: stayed too long in situations I should have walked away from.
- 4:05Speaker 1: I've probably walked away from situations I should have fought
- 4:08Speaker 1: harder for. But you know what? That's life. You don't
- 4:13Speaker 1: get to middle age without collecting a few scars along
- 4:15Speaker 1: the way. But I've learned something. The scars don't make
- 4:20Speaker 1: you unlovable. They make you human. And sometimes I wonder,
- 4:26Speaker 1: What will it be like when I finally meet her?
- 4:29Speaker 1: Will I know immediately? Will it be some crazy movie-style moment?
- 4:35Speaker 1: Will there be fireworks? Probably not. Maybe it'll be something simple.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Maybe we'll just sit across from each other at a restaurant.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Maybe we'll talk for three hours without realizing how much
- 4:48Speaker 1: time has passed. Maybe she'll make me laugh. Maybe she'll
- 4:52Speaker 1: tell me stories about her life. Maybe I'll look across
- 4:56Speaker 1: the table and think, I could get used to this.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Maybe that's what love really is. Not fireworks. Not some
- 5:05Speaker 1: Hollywood moment. Maybe it's that quiet feeling that says, I
- 5:09Speaker 1: feel safe here. I can be myself here. I don't
- 5:14Speaker 1: have to pretend. That's the kind of love I want now.
- 5:19Speaker 1: I don't need somebody who's impressed by me. I need
- 5:22Speaker 1: someone who's comfortable with me. I don't need somebody who
- 5:26Speaker 1: thinks I'm perfect. I need somebody who knows I'm not
- 5:31Speaker 1: and loves me anyway. And I'll give her the same thing.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I'm not going to expect perfection from her. I'm not
- 5:39Speaker 1: going to judge her for her past. I'm not going
- 5:42Speaker 1: to expect her to be somebody she's not. I want
- 5:46Speaker 1: to know who she really is. What makes her laugh?
- 5:51Speaker 1: What makes her cry? What she's afraid of? what she
- 5:55Speaker 1: dreamed about, what she gave up on, what she still
- 6:00Speaker 1: hopes for, I want to know what song makes her
- 6:04Speaker 1: turn the radio up, what food she could eat every day,
- 6:08Speaker 1: and where she would go if money wasn't an issue.
- 6:13Speaker 1: What her perfect Saturday looks like is the little things.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Because I think that's where you really get to know someone.
- 6:23Speaker 1: That's where you really get to know someone Amen, right? Well,
- 6:30Speaker 1: hopefully you found love. I know someday I will find love.
- 6:38Speaker 1: It's just a matter of time. But anyhow, as always,
- 6:43Speaker 1: I greatly appreciate you being here. I appreciate you listening.
- 6:46Speaker 1: And I will see you all on the next one. Peace.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Thank you.
