Latest / Sri Aurobindo Studies / The Action of the Higher Force As It Descends Into the Present Formulation of the Mind, Life and Body
Transcript
- 0:01When the higher spiritual forces begin to enter the being through
- 0:04any kind of opening, they interact with the existing
- 0:08framework of the body, life, mind.
- 0:12Anytime energy is introduced into a system, it activates the
- 0:16existing patterns of response so that the mind begins to create
- 0:21its thoughts and ideas. The vital being responds with
- 0:25its emotions and vital reactions, and the physical body
- 0:29responds with its normal actions.
- 0:32Any embedded habitual patterns or locked in reactions from past
- 0:37samskaras will naturally arise. When the energy enters into any
- 0:42particular chakra or subtle energy center, it opens up the
- 0:47forces that vibrate at that level.
- 0:49Generally, until such time as the energies are transformed,
- 0:54the usual reactions arise. One of the reasons for
- 0:59establishing calm, peace and equality and a wideness in the
- 1:03being as a foundational action for the yogic practice is to aid
- 1:09the seeker in holding these energies and not spilling them
- 1:12out through the old ways of action.
- 1:15The establishment of the witness poise of the consciousness
- 1:19allows the seeker to observe what comes up and then to begin
- 1:24the process of modifying and transforming the responses, thus
- 1:29effectuating the needed changes that the descent of the
- 1:33spiritual force intends to achieve, Sri Aurobindo notes
- 1:39quote. The power does not descend with
- 1:43the object of raising up the lower forces, but in the way it
- 1:48has to work. At present that uprising comes
- 1:51in as a reaction to the working. What is needed is the
- 1:56establishment of the calm and wide consciousness at the base
- 2:00of the whole nature, so that when the lower nature appears,
- 2:05it will not be as an attack or struggle, but as if a master of
- 2:10forces were there, seeing the defects of the present machinery
- 2:15and doing step by step what is necessary to remedy and change
- 2:20it. End Quote.
