- 0:10Speaker 1: Is it a mixtape? If it's on the DSPs? Yeah,
- 0:13Speaker 1: I don't know. Bro's twenty twenty one mixedge Okay, I
- 0:16Speaker 1: don't know. Is it on that pif too, it's not.
- 0:18Speaker 1: So is it a mixtape? You got a good point.
- 0:21Speaker 1: You got a good point, you know, called tapped in.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Tapped in now you have You've been playing me some
- 0:28Speaker 1: music that is not out. You have some really big
- 0:31Speaker 1: like you. I feel like you've been holding on to music.
- 0:35Speaker 1: You know, some people they overthink shit, they hold on
- 0:37Speaker 1: the shit too long, and I feel like you are
- 0:39Speaker 1: a very, very very perfect example of that because you
- 0:42Speaker 1: played me some shit. Then I'm like, bro, what are
- 0:43Speaker 1: you doing? Like put this shit out like big names
- 0:47Speaker 1: like you know what I'm saying, Like, what was what
- 0:49Speaker 1: was it about this project that made the timing right
- 0:51Speaker 1: for you to put something out? It just finally fell right.
- 0:55Speaker 1: I kind of set the deadline too. I said it
- 0:57Speaker 1: for the thirty first, so the last day of the year.
- 1:00Speaker 1: But we're here now in twenty twenty two, and yeah,
- 1:03Speaker 1: it's gonna be a big year. Catch twenty two is
- 1:05Speaker 1: a label so and you've been killing it on the
- 1:07Speaker 1: beats too, Man, I appreciate that, getting a lot of
- 1:09Speaker 1: big placements, been producing them for a lot of artists
- 1:12Speaker 1: all over the place. I mean, you played me some
- 1:14Speaker 1: shipping homie from Detroit that was crazy. Would you like
- 1:16Speaker 1: sample eminem Yeah, we replayed it though, shout out Peyote. Yeah.
- 1:22Speaker 1: For people who don't know what is like, who is Cypersmarano?
- 1:24Speaker 1: What do you do? Man? I know you're like, where
- 1:26Speaker 1: are you from? Give us the whole backstory, bro, I'm
- 1:28Speaker 1: a DJ. I'm a DJ first, so my name is
- 1:31Speaker 1: Cyprus from La DJ producer now, you know, really focused
- 1:35Speaker 1: on the producing. But we could I mean sit, we
- 1:39Speaker 1: could sit here and talk for a long time. I'm
- 1:41Speaker 1: almost over almost ten years in the game. So it
- 1:45Speaker 1: started like it started a while ago. I've been I've
- 1:47Speaker 1: been in this La shit and it's taken me around
- 1:50Speaker 1: the world. I mean, you had told me that originally
- 1:53Speaker 1: you were going to college in Arizona, right, Yeah, where's
- 1:56Speaker 1: it Tucson? So you were going to U of A,
- 1:58Speaker 1: U of A so was what were you always making
- 2:02Speaker 1: music like and it was just in the background, and
- 2:05Speaker 1: but you were also trying to get a degree in
- 2:06Speaker 1: like you know, doing normal ship like or was it
- 2:08Speaker 1: like something that what was what? What was the catalyst
- 2:10Speaker 1: that made you go full time with this ship? I
- 2:12Speaker 1: was a student athlete. I played football in high school.
- 2:14Speaker 1: So senior year is when like I started DJing just
- 2:18Speaker 1: after football season that liked, what is it second year,
- 2:22Speaker 1: second quarter, second semester? Right, this was before I went
- 2:27Speaker 1: off to college. College is when I like started really
- 2:29Speaker 1: like turning up parties and ship. Were you played football?
- 2:32Speaker 1: U Nah, I wanted to walk on though I didn't
- 2:35Speaker 1: get a chance to, but I was only there there
- 2:37Speaker 1: for one one year. But yeah, U of a, that's
- 2:41Speaker 1: when like I really started kind of just turning parties up.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Already had like that connection back back home with like
- 2:48Speaker 1: Charisma Young California Amen, yep, and that like kind of
- 2:54Speaker 1: kind of came up under that umbrella as well when
- 2:57Speaker 1: I was in LA when I got back from college.
- 2:59Speaker 1: But yeah, it really started senior year. Just you know,
- 3:03Speaker 1: I've been around turntables, been around like a couple of
- 3:06Speaker 1: DJs in the family, but like it wasn't until senior
- 3:09Speaker 1: year when I really like was like, yeah, I'm gonna
- 3:11Speaker 1: really fuck with this. I wasn't playing sports at a
- 3:13Speaker 1: lot of time on my hands, so you kind of
- 3:15Speaker 1: just dove into DJing initially, not even beats necessarily. Yeah,
- 3:20Speaker 1: straight into DJing because like it's not obviously probably a
- 3:24Speaker 1: pretty easy transition to make, but I think so like
- 3:27Speaker 1: if you understand, if you understand music, if you understand
- 3:30Speaker 1: how to blend records, like you know, tempo, all that shit,
- 3:33Speaker 1: I feel like it makes the beat making process that
- 3:35Speaker 1: much easier. I'm sure most definitely. So you get back
- 3:38Speaker 1: from college that didn't work out, what were you going
- 3:41Speaker 1: to call it for? Pre physiology? I don't even know
- 3:44Speaker 1: what that is, just similar to anatomy, and I wanted
- 3:49Speaker 1: to become an athletic trainer. Oh that's fire. Yeah, so
- 3:52Speaker 1: you're a very smart guy. We could say that one
- 3:55Speaker 1: year of college just us a year more than I had,
- 3:57Speaker 1: so I did a little more school though when I
- 4:01Speaker 1: got back, I actually wanted to record in school, so like, okay,
- 4:04Speaker 1: so you learned how to engineer and a little bit
- 4:05Speaker 1: of that. It really I took the production program, so
- 4:09Speaker 1: it really taught me like the fundamentals and music theory.
- 4:12Speaker 1: That's really what I got from. I remember I went
- 4:16Speaker 1: to one of those in a Z and I felt
- 4:18Speaker 1: like it was like a bunch of aspiring local rappers
- 4:21Speaker 1: that took that class. No, Yeah, I met a lot
- 4:24Speaker 1: of a lot of people in school. Yeah. So when
- 4:28Speaker 1: because like you know, I feel like you really started
- 4:31Speaker 1: to kind of get like a you know, you've been
- 4:33Speaker 1: putting in work, but I feel like when short Line
- 4:36Speaker 1: started to kind of take off, you were there, DJ,
- 4:39Speaker 1: and I feel like your wave really kind of started
- 4:42Speaker 1: to blow up just in general, because I feel like
- 4:44Speaker 1: you kind of co signed and we're kind of behind
- 4:46Speaker 1: a lot of this early LA shit that we kind
- 4:49Speaker 1: of everyone knows now, but you know, you know, when
- 4:52Speaker 1: me and Heav would be talking about like the LA shit,
- 4:54Speaker 1: like you were the name that was always coming up,
- 4:56Speaker 1: like you and Vic. You know what I'm saying as
- 4:59Speaker 1: far as like some the early names that were like
- 5:02Speaker 1: co signing guys like Draco and you know, Shoreline shit
- 5:05Speaker 1: like that. But like what was like the first like
- 5:07Speaker 1: look that happened for you in this music ship out
- 5:09Speaker 1: here in LA that really kind of solidified you, you
- 5:12Speaker 1: think or you felt like oh this ship is actually working.
- 5:14Speaker 1: I might actually be able to like make a career
- 5:16Speaker 1: out of this, like that young California coast sign. Yeah,
- 5:19Speaker 1: because at a point in time shout out to a
- 5:20Speaker 1: man shot Charisma that was like way before even that era, right,
- 5:24Speaker 1: just having like that little yeah at peak, Young California
- 5:27Speaker 1: is a big deal most definitely. Yeah, Yeah, that was
- 5:30Speaker 1: like I mean, it was just like John Hart. There
- 5:35Speaker 1: was like a young California sound low ky. It was
- 5:37Speaker 1: like John Hard, like Sage, like Bobby Brackens, Like yeah,
- 5:43Speaker 1: for sure, for sure, now that's real. Like who was
- 5:45Speaker 1: it from Young California that originally had tapped in with
- 5:48Speaker 1: you charisma? What sh it originally? Like back in the
- 5:52Speaker 1: day we was in the club scene, like a lot
- 5:55Speaker 1: of the DJs that kind of like I guess guided me,
- 5:58Speaker 1: I could say, like in the right dige a couple
- 6:01Speaker 1: of names mark you mark one more DJ night trying.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Charisma was among that group. Empire Element I think was
- 6:10Speaker 1: the name of the club, Hollywood, like a little eighteen
- 6:12Speaker 1: and over where we just all kind of linked up
- 6:14Speaker 1: and yeah, from their Young California coasts on and then
- 6:20Speaker 1: that was really like the beginning of shit, you know,
- 6:22Speaker 1: what I liked about you was that you made your
- 6:26Speaker 1: own lane instead of having to, like cause you know,
- 6:29Speaker 1: the Hollywood DJ politics and trying to get into these
- 6:31Speaker 1: clubs and then the undercutting and to be honest, like
- 6:34Speaker 1: as much as people think LA clubs pay great, they
- 6:37Speaker 1: pay out right, Bro. I love going to Phoenix. You
- 6:40Speaker 1: go to like any other city. I go to San
- 6:42Speaker 1: Diego and get a bag, you know what I mean,
- 6:44Speaker 1: go to az whatever. But I feel like you didn't,
- 6:46Speaker 1: like a lot of DJ's kind of based their self
- 6:50Speaker 1: worth on that world, like Yo, I'm at Nightingdale or
- 6:54Speaker 1: whatever the fuck right now. But I feel like you
- 6:56Speaker 1: just said, hey, this shit is if it comes cool.
- 7:00Speaker 1: But you kind of just carved your own ship out. Yeah. No,
- 7:04Speaker 1: I always kind of had like this. I guess this
- 7:06Speaker 1: vision in the back of my mind, like to do
- 7:09Speaker 1: what I'm doing right now, like I always wanted to do.
- 7:11Speaker 1: I just needed to learn how to do it. But
- 7:13Speaker 1: it was the DJ ain't that really just it exposed
- 7:17Speaker 1: me to you know, this whole music game, just different
- 7:19Speaker 1: sides because through that, like the young California umbrother, I
- 7:22Speaker 1: was doing ship like this, Like I was doing sit
- 7:24Speaker 1: down interviews and trying to do like the the radio
- 7:28Speaker 1: and podcast things like like, yeah, like a couple of
- 7:32Speaker 1: years ago, seven, eight years ago, a couple Yeah, that's crazy.
- 7:37Speaker 1: You've been doing this for so long. You look doing
- 7:39Speaker 1: this for a minute. You look very young, bro, You
- 7:41Speaker 1: age gracefully. So what what was tell me about? Man,
- 7:46Speaker 1: some of those early days being around Shoreline and just
- 7:48Speaker 1: some of those tours, some of those moments, man, what's
- 7:51Speaker 1: like crazy moments? Because everybody was on that first tour.
- 7:57Speaker 1: I didn't just DJ for Shortline. What was on that
- 8:00Speaker 1: tour Roachie one tap, kaylin h literally everybody, Yeah, Chike,
- 8:08Speaker 1: uh shit, I don't know. I gotta look at my
- 8:12Speaker 1: my sherado because I got like all these different crates
- 8:15Speaker 1: that I just over the years. They just like, you're
- 8:21Speaker 1: on the tour pretty much pretty much. There was a
- 8:26Speaker 1: lot of people on that tour. There's a lot of
- 8:28Speaker 1: people from Atlanta, uh Mad mass Savage. So were you
- 8:31Speaker 1: DJing like the whole sat the whole fucking thing. I
- 8:34Speaker 1: was stugg in it. Wow, that study real to you
- 8:37Speaker 1: was like, so you were playing everyone's fucking music? Oh yeah,
- 8:40Speaker 1: that's rough. Yeah, when I was on tour, I was
- 8:43Speaker 1: playing everybody's music I had I was like producing while
- 8:47Speaker 1: we was on the road. I have a lot of
- 8:49Speaker 1: music from like being on the road, but when I
- 8:51Speaker 1: was on tour, I guess during that time, I didn't
- 8:53Speaker 1: really have a lot of music out. I only had
- 8:57Speaker 1: like one song that came out of that that little era, right,
- 9:00Speaker 1: it's called Swear to God. It's like a Detroit l
- 9:03Speaker 1: A banger. But but yeah, ship crazy moments. What was there?
- 9:11Speaker 1: What was the like the guys in the group not
- 9:15Speaker 1: getting along? Was that like a pretty early on thing
- 9:17Speaker 1: on the tour because I know when like we talked
- 9:18Speaker 1: to Gez about it, like it felt felt like he
- 9:20Speaker 1: said that like some of that stuff kind of started
- 9:22Speaker 1: to like get magnified while they were on the road together.
- 9:26Speaker 1: We did like I think two tours together, but no
- 9:30Speaker 1: from from from the jump that sh it was was lit.
- 9:33Speaker 1: But I just mean like we're like, like, did you
- 9:36Speaker 1: notice like any dysfunction within like between the homies like
- 9:39Speaker 1: during the during the tours. Yeah, definitely. I feel like
- 9:43Speaker 1: when you're on tour with somebody, like if you don't like,
- 9:46Speaker 1: if you don't get along with somebody, it's gonna just
- 9:47Speaker 1: it's gonna just because you can't escape somebody like, yeah,
- 9:51Speaker 1: we're on the road together, we're in a fucking bus
- 9:52Speaker 1: or we're in a very tight space. You know what
- 9:54Speaker 1: I'm saying, We have to go to the next day
- 9:57Speaker 1: if we all want to get paid t like this
- 10:00Speaker 1: right this moment, that shit was dope. What because I
- 10:04Speaker 1: know you still DJ for? Like, who do you DJ
- 10:06Speaker 1: for right now? Ship? Really whoever hit me up? But
- 10:12Speaker 1: most recently I was at rolling Loud with I did
- 10:15Speaker 1: the first day with Phoenix, second day with Cupolo from
- 10:19Speaker 1: the Bay, Yeah at the Bay and oh Win, take Win,
- 10:26Speaker 1: take you Jay? What's shit? I really just be DJ
- 10:31Speaker 1: for whoever hit me? Who was on tapped in yo

- 12:20Speaker 1: Going up? It's a strip club. It's where's Honolulu though
- 12:24Speaker 1: I've only been in Maui. Yeahlu Hawaiian shrip that's Hawaihu
- 12:29Speaker 1: that's the main. Yeah, that's the main Hawaiian strip club.

- 12:48Speaker 1: Atlanta culture great food, good food good see, let's see.
- 12:56Speaker 1: I'm not like the even though I come from a
- 12:58Speaker 1: big city, New York, I could only do it like
- 13:01Speaker 1: for so long. Oh yeah, New York is it becomes
- 13:03Speaker 1: a lot fast. It's cool though, Like I like working
- 13:06Speaker 1: in New York. Yeah, now New York is cool, but
- 13:08Speaker 1: you there for a reason. Yeah, New York. I got
- 13:12Speaker 1: people who live there. God bless them. They got they
- 13:15Speaker 1: got a whole entire like they could withstand walking and
- 13:19Speaker 1: subways and people more than I can. Really, I mean,
- 13:22Speaker 1: I fuck with Arizona. You went to school there. Yeah,
- 13:25Speaker 1: Phoenix is cool too, Phoenix the vibe. Yeah you always
- 13:28Speaker 1: I feel like you always doing after parties in Phoenix. Yeah.
- 13:31Speaker 1: I like some random place for so like, damn they
- 13:34Speaker 1: got cypers and where the fuck is he? I gotta
- 13:36Speaker 1: look this place up. I'll pull up man, I'll be
- 13:38Speaker 1: showing loves whoever shows little at me. You're very good
- 13:41Speaker 1: at like kind of spotting like new talent. Who are
- 13:43Speaker 1: some of the newer artists that I that you think
- 13:45Speaker 1: that we haven't kind of like you know, discovered yet
- 13:49Speaker 1: that you kind of you got your eye on. Bro.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Right now, I say, like everybody on taped in for
- 13:56Speaker 1: everybody on the project, but on the project just you know,
- 13:59Speaker 1: from from dre Go all the way all the way Dawn.
- 14:03Speaker 1: But I'm listening to like a lot of like what's
- 14:06Speaker 1: going on in San Diego right now? Like recently I've
- 14:08Speaker 1: just been what's going on? Well, let me know what's
- 14:10Speaker 1: going on because I've been in San Diego a lot.
- 14:12Speaker 1: I don't know what's going on there. So I got
- 14:13Speaker 1: a lot of Hispanic ravers, okay, and then it's a
- 14:17Speaker 1: lot of dudes bubbling from the city. Little Rob. Is
- 14:21Speaker 1: that where you're from? He's from San Diego? A Charger
- 14:23Speaker 1: fan that was from San Diego though, Oh see a
- 14:27Speaker 1: Charger fan. I don't know. I would hope so right,
- 14:30Speaker 1: I don't know. Little Rob was a legend. Charger fans
- 14:32Speaker 1: are sick right now. Oh my god, are you a
- 14:35Speaker 1: Charger fan? You no, Bro, they had it. They just
- 14:38Speaker 1: had to just let the clock run out. They would
- 14:41Speaker 1: have both been in the playoffs. Wherever that coach is.
- 14:46Speaker 1: I don't know. He had a chip on his shoulder.
- 14:47Speaker 1: I didn't really get that. They gotta fire that coach,
- 14:50Speaker 1: you think so, of course? Bro? Did you watch the game? Yeah,
- 14:53Speaker 1: that fourth in like fucking four on their on eighteen,
- 14:58Speaker 1: terrible call, leave the ball up. It's a whole lot
- 15:01Speaker 1: going on during that game, like the commentators, the whole situation,
- 15:06Speaker 1: like somebody may have I guess they could have ended
- 15:10Speaker 1: what Ben's career if it would have been Yeah, if
- 15:13Speaker 1: they would have tied, both would have got in and
- 15:16Speaker 1: Ben would have and they chewers were oute okay, so
- 15:18Speaker 1: I was kind of hoping for the Tis Ben anyway.
- 15:23Speaker 1: What about like as far as like, uh, you know,
- 15:26Speaker 1: you got the weed here, you got the label. Are
- 15:28Speaker 1: you like signing an artist to are are you like
- 15:31Speaker 1: actively looking for artists to sign? Yeah? Definitely I want to.
- 15:34Speaker 1: I want to get to that point where I got
- 15:36Speaker 1: you know, a couple of artists. Have you done that?
- 15:38Speaker 1: Do you have any yet or you're still no? Right now?
- 15:41Speaker 1: I'm like the artist, the producer, So you're just kind
- 15:43Speaker 1: of making sure you got an imprint to release your
- 15:46Speaker 1: own ship through right now? Build it on a cashwy
- 15:48Speaker 1: to the label like started it in twenty eighteen. This
- 15:52Speaker 1: was actually my second full I guess, full body of work.
- 15:56Speaker 1: I put a project out with Big Sad that was
- 15:58Speaker 1: through Cash twenty two and nineteen hundred. What's up with
- 16:02Speaker 1: I know you have a dope main project you've been
- 16:06Speaker 1: working on. Are there any other projects that you have
- 16:09Speaker 1: just been kind of working on? Like full collaborative ship
- 16:12Speaker 1: with Arucci? That shit pretty much almost finished up. It's
- 16:18Speaker 1: a lot of the coyotes, they're dope. Yeah, I got
- 16:21Speaker 1: some crazy shit with them. Who else I don't have
- 16:23Speaker 1: to look at my phone. It's a game. It's a
- 16:25Speaker 1: gang of a little EPs and yeah, full length products.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Are they ever gonna come out though? This year? Okay,
- 16:30Speaker 1: it's twenty twenty two. You gotta like you said you
- 16:33Speaker 1: when you literally say, man, there's a whole lot on
- 16:34Speaker 1: my phone. I can't even I just I just hope

- 19:07Speaker 1: a trip. Yeah, that she was a trip. Were you
- 19:11Speaker 1: at that show at all? Nah? So I was at
- 19:13Speaker 1: Rolling Loud the week before, So just being at Rolling
- 19:17Speaker 1: Loud and experiencing three days Rolling Loud too, because like
- 19:20Speaker 1: the Rolling Loud protocols they changed completely. I don't know
- 19:24Speaker 1: if they knew that Kanye was coming beforehand. They probably did,
- 19:27Speaker 1: but they was on some ship bro like security wise,
- 19:32Speaker 1: which I'm looking back on and I'm like, Okay, yeah,
- 19:35Speaker 1: I could see how nothing really happened at Rolling Loud.
- 19:38Speaker 1: The way they was it was really like ship. The
- 19:41Speaker 1: way we was escortial, it was just a trip. Everything
- 19:44Speaker 1: was on point calculated. So me being fresh from Rolling
- 19:48Speaker 1: Loud and kind of like, you know, the festivals been
- 19:52Speaker 1: that was. That was a big festival. To get me
- 19:53Speaker 1: wrong with that lineup looked dope. Definitely wanted to be there,

- 19:57Speaker 1: wood from Rolling Loud. You spent three days on yeah,
- 20:01Speaker 1: the rest of the year, you know, commuting to the IE.

- 20:08Speaker 1: you know, just covid go get the covid risband lines walking,
- 20:13Speaker 1: can't get the ubers. I'm just thinking, yeah, you know
- 20:16Speaker 1: this is right down the street. Am I really missing out?
- 20:20Speaker 1: Kind of watching everything from you know, from the stories
- 20:24Speaker 1: and then you know that shit was a trip because
- 20:27Speaker 1: I had two passes to pull up. I was thinking
- 20:29Speaker 1: like I might pull up around seven pm to go
- 20:32Speaker 1: check out, like you know, I think it was Draco
- 20:36Speaker 1: fifty C and Snoop where it was like a couple
- 20:39Speaker 1: people that I want to go watch just on some
- 20:41Speaker 1: regular ship. But know that shit was the trip that
- 20:44Speaker 1: day was crazy. Yeah, Like can you kind of try
- 20:46Speaker 1: to put in the words in Europeeon, like what what
- 20:48Speaker 1: what Draco mad in La you know what I'm saying
- 20:50Speaker 1: for people who don't know, he just created the whole

- 21:00Speaker 1: a lot of like the rappers that are doing shit right,
- 21:02Speaker 1: I feel like him, Grito, like you know, there's a
- 21:04Speaker 1: few of those guys that I feel like he was
- 21:07Speaker 1: finally starting to get some of that credit. You know
- 21:08Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So yeah, rest in peace to Draco.
