The pedal steel guitar’s soulful wail owes much to Sho-Bud, the legendary instrument born in a Nashville garage in 1955 by Buddy Emmons and Shot Jackson. Once the go-to for country icons and housed in a historic Lower Broadway workshop now known as the “Sho-Bud balcony bar,” the brand vanished briefly after being bought out — until its grandkids revived it in 2024.
