- 0:10Speaker 1: Broadcasting coast-to-coast and border-to-border.
- 0:13Speaker 2: From Memphis, Tennessee. That's us, that's right. I love this
- 0:20Speaker 2: American ride.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Todd Starrs.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Oh, well, hello, everybody. Welcome to the Todd Stearns Radio Show.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Happy Columbus Day to you, America. And we're going to
- 0:35Speaker 2: get into that in just a minute. I want to
- 0:37Speaker 2: give you an update on a story we've been following
- 0:40Speaker 2: since the wee hours of the morning. the federal government
- 0:44Speaker 2: staging a pre-dawn guns-drawn raid on the home of Congresswoman
- 0:53Speaker 2: Ilhan Omar. This is pretty spectacular. We understand Homeland Security
- 0:59Speaker 2: had raided her house there in Washington, D.C., and they've
- 1:04Speaker 2: been there for, I don't know, about six hours or so,
- 1:08Speaker 2: and Democrats are just having a terrible morning. They have...
- 1:12Speaker 2: apparently been walking out of the house with just bucket loads,
- 1:16Speaker 2: boatloads of all sorts of evidence. And my question only
- 1:22Speaker 2: now is, will they allow Ilhan Omar the opportunity to self-deport? That,
- 1:27Speaker 2: to me, seems to be the big question here. Or
- 1:30Speaker 2: is she going to be taken into custody? So there
- 1:37Speaker 2: we have it, ladies and gentlemen. We're going to get
- 1:39Speaker 2: into this. I'll explain why the feds were at her
- 1:43Speaker 2: house and what they're looking for. But you can't lie.
- 1:47Speaker 2: You can't misrepresent yourself when it comes to these immigration issues.
- 1:53Speaker 2: So anyway, certainly a great day for a lot of folks.
- 1:56Speaker 2: And look, let's get real. The woman loves Somalia, so
- 1:58Speaker 2: why not send her back to the homeland? I mean,
- 2:03Speaker 2: that's what I don't understand. So anyway, we'll get to
- 2:07Speaker 2: that in just a moment. But I do want to
- 2:10Speaker 2: bring something up here because this is important as we
- 2:13Speaker 2: celebrate Columbus Day. And that's what it is here on
- 2:17Speaker 2: the Todd Stearns Radio Show. It is Columbus Day. We
- 2:21Speaker 2: do not commemorate Indigenous Peoples Day. But there are a
- 2:25Speaker 2: lot of people who do. And I want to talk
- 2:29Speaker 2: to you just for just a moment here and to
- 2:31Speaker 2: give you some give you some talking points. Let's just
- 2:36Speaker 2: say you're at, I don't know, you're at Kroger or
- 2:40Speaker 2: you're at the doctor's office and you're having some small
- 2:43Speaker 2: talk and somebody brings up Indigenous Peoples Day. And I
- 2:48Speaker 2: want to make sure you are equipped with some knowledge
- 2:51Speaker 2: that you can drop in the event one of these
- 2:54Speaker 2: little leftists decides that they're going to go after Christopher Columbus.
- 2:59Speaker 2: First of all, this is a great day for Italian-Americans.
- 3:03Speaker 2: And my only question is, Dylan, you know, I was
- 3:07Speaker 2: in the mood today for some pesci's, which is my favorite.
- 3:12Speaker 2: That's the official Italian deli of the Todd Stearns Radio Show.
- 3:17Speaker 2: And I could really go for some of their food.
- 3:19Speaker 2: And my only question is, are they open today? Or
- 3:22Speaker 2: are they closed for the holiday?
- 3:24Speaker 4: That's a good question.
- 3:26Speaker 2: That's the one looming question all day that I've got.
- 3:30Speaker 2: But all that to say, it's a great day for Italians.
- 3:34Speaker 2: And I would raise a meatball to all of you.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Because without the Italians, well, we all may still be
- 3:41Speaker 2: across the big pond. So we owe them a debt
- 3:44Speaker 2: of gratitude. But instead, there is this effort to erase
- 3:49Speaker 2: Christopher Columbus from our history books and from the calendar.
- 3:53Speaker 2: By the way, Zoran Mamdami, they do the big parade
- 3:58Speaker 2: in New York City. And my understanding is he's not
- 4:01Speaker 2: even going to attend the parade. And the Italian-Americans are like, yeah,
- 4:05Speaker 2: we're good with that. But today... The Muslim mayor of
- 4:10Speaker 2: New York City, Mayor Zoran Mamdami, said he refused, refused
- 4:15Speaker 2: to attend the Columbus Day Parade. Now, the Muslim mayor
- 4:19Speaker 2: did attend the pride parades and the transgender parades. But no, no, no, no, no.
- 4:26Speaker 2: When it comes to the Italian community, Mayor Mamdami, yeah,
- 4:31Speaker 2: he's not a big fan. Not a big fan. So anyway...
- 4:35Speaker 2: They're doing the parades, all this kind of whatnot. And
- 4:38Speaker 2: I want to share some knowledge. Look, this is going
- 4:43Speaker 2: to irritate some people. And that's okay, because you're going
- 4:47Speaker 2: to be delivering a reality check to these folk. So
- 4:51Speaker 2: here we go. First of all, it turns out that
- 4:55Speaker 2: most of the indigenous peoples of the Americas were actually
- 5:01Speaker 2: bloodthirsty savages. Most of them were savages. As a matter
- 5:07Speaker 2: of fact, you've got the woke agitators, and they're out there,
- 5:11Speaker 2: and they're in the nation's universities and public schools, and
- 5:15Speaker 2: they're literally rewriting the history of Christopher Columbus, and they're
- 5:19Speaker 2: trying to make him out to be some sort of
- 5:20Speaker 2: a monster, which is why so many towns are now
- 5:23Speaker 2: celebrating Indigenous Peoples' Day. And they would literally have you believe,
- 5:29Speaker 2: and this is the narrative coming from the left here,
- 5:31Speaker 2: they would have you believe that the American Indian tribes
- 5:36Speaker 2: all lived in peace and harmony. It was like a
- 5:39Speaker 2: Coca-Cola commercial. Dancing in the fields, frolicking with the bison,
- 5:46Speaker 2: not in a sexual way, just frolicking with the bison.
- 5:49Speaker 2: I mean, it was all rainbows and unicorns until the
- 5:53Speaker 2: white man showed up. And, I mean, that's their narrative.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Everybody was living in peace and harmony, running around buck
- 6:00Speaker 2: naked in the wilds of Kansas. But the reality, ladies
- 6:04Speaker 2: and gentlemen, is very different. I mean, very different. Because
- 6:11Speaker 2: a good many of the so-called indigenous people groups were
- 6:15Speaker 2: savage killers. And they slaughtered women and children. And many
- 6:21Speaker 2: of the American Indian tribes actually took the women and
- 6:25Speaker 2: children and they put them to work without pay. And
- 6:30Speaker 2: what do we call that, Dylan, when you're taken from
- 6:34Speaker 2: your home and you are forced to work in the
- 6:38Speaker 2: fields without pay? What do we call that?
- 6:41Speaker 4: Some call it slavery.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Slavery. I do believe we fought a war over that.
- 6:46Speaker 2: But the Indian people were engaged in slavery long before
- 6:51Speaker 2: the honky man showed up. No, I told you. You're saying, Todd,
- 7:00Speaker 2: I can't say that. Oh, yes, you can. And you must,
- 7:03Speaker 2: ladies and gentlemen, because it's time to give the Indigenous
- 7:07Speaker 2: People Day crowd a reality check, a wake-up call. And again,
- 7:12Speaker 2: you don't hear much about this in the public schools. Dylan,
- 7:15Speaker 2: did they ever tell you that the Indians, like Tonto
- 7:18Speaker 2: and all of his people, that they enslaved people?
- 7:23Speaker 4: No, they forgot to mention that part.
- 7:24Speaker 5: They did.
- 7:25Speaker 2: I'm not surprised. Take the Comanche, for example. According to historians,
- 7:35Speaker 2: the Comanche, one of the most evil of the Indian tribes,
- 7:41Speaker 2: and they killed thousands of other indigenous people. So why
- 7:45Speaker 2: are we, by the way, why are we celebrating the Comanche?
- 7:48Speaker 2: I mean, they were out there. They killed more of
- 7:52Speaker 2: their people than the white guy did. By the way,
- 7:56Speaker 2: the Comanche also took their enemies captive. Yes, they engaged
- 8:02Speaker 2: in slavery as well. So again, my question is, why
- 8:07Speaker 2: would anybody, why would the, why did they want to
- 8:10Speaker 2: celebrate people who were engaged in the slave trade? So
- 8:14Speaker 2: that brings me to a story here. Because again, the
- 8:20Speaker 2: narrative is that Christopher Columbus came to the Americas and
- 8:24Speaker 2: slaughtered the Indian people. One of the largest documented massacres
- 8:31Speaker 2: in the United States of America happened before we were
- 8:34Speaker 2: ever even thought of as a country. It was the
- 8:37Speaker 2: Crow Creek Massacre, which is where present-day South Dakota is.
- 8:42Speaker 2: We're talking about A.D. 1325. Archaeologists recovered the remains of
- 8:49Speaker 2: nearly 500 people, calling it the absolute worst massacre Well,
- 8:55Speaker 2: that's what we've got. Now, according to one anthropologist at
- 8:59Speaker 2: the University of Tennessee, the victims represented about 60% of
- 9:05Speaker 2: the village's population. The remains showed that many of those
- 9:11Speaker 2: killed were scalped. They suffered skull fractures. They were decapitated.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Many were mutilated. It seems as though, according to the anthropologist, Dr. Willie,
- 9:26Speaker 2: or Wiley, that many young adult women were taken hostage.
- 9:36Speaker 2: The attacker's identity uncertain, but the massacre roughly occurring 167
- 9:42Speaker 2: years before Christopher Columbus's first voyage. So what does that
- 9:47Speaker 2: tell you? Well, it tells you that the left is
- 9:49Speaker 2: full of hooey. And ladies and gentlemen, the whole nonsense,
- 9:54Speaker 2: this is nothing more than an attack on Italian Americans.
- 9:58Speaker 2: I mean, that's all it is. And it's ugly and
- 10:01Speaker 2: it's nasty, and we got to call it like it is.
- 10:05Speaker 2: So the reason why you don't hear much about this
- 10:08Speaker 2: in public schools is because it doesn't fit the narrative.
- 10:11Speaker 2: They sort of gloss over all of that, right? That's
- 10:15Speaker 2: what they do. But the next time somebody comes up
- 10:20Speaker 2: to you and you see them all the time and
- 10:23Speaker 2: they drive a specific sort of car, they've got the
- 10:26Speaker 2: coexist bumper sticker on the back of the vehicle, and
- 10:31Speaker 2: they're waving around telling you a happy Indigenous People Day,
- 10:35Speaker 2: you have my permission to tell them to blow it
- 10:37Speaker 2: out their peace pipe. That's what you can do. All right,
- 10:41Speaker 2: we've got to take a break here. 901-260-5926. We're going
- 10:46Speaker 2: to get into what happened to Ilhan Omar, and this
- 10:50Speaker 2: is really, really a good day for America. And ladies
- 10:54Speaker 2: and gentlemen, anybody who comes here and hates on our
- 10:57Speaker 2: country and then gets elected to Congress, they've got to go.
- 11:01Speaker 2: They've got to go back to where they came from,
- 11:03Speaker 2: and that's what we need to do with Ilhan Omar today.
- 11:05Speaker 2: She needs to be gone as soon as possible from
- 11:08Speaker 2: the United States of America. All right, we've got a
- 11:11Speaker 2: great show for you. Wendy Patrick is here. Also, over
- 11:16Speaker 2: the weekend, my C-SPAN book special aired, and I watched it,
- 11:23Speaker 2: and it was actually good. No, I'm not surprised. I
- 11:29Speaker 2: I just didn't know what to expect. You know, sometimes
- 11:32Speaker 2: when you do a book event, it can be like,
- 11:34Speaker 2: you know, boring. But it was engaging. The crowd was fun.
- 11:39Speaker 2: We laughed. We had a good time. And it was
- 11:42Speaker 2: pretty much unlike any other thing you've ever seen on
- 11:45Speaker 2: C-SPAN Book TV. So we're going to play a lot
- 11:48Speaker 2: of the audio from the one-hour special that aired on
- 11:51Speaker 2: C-SPAN on Sunday and then Sunday evening. And I'd love
- 11:55Speaker 2: for you to go and watch it. The videos are
- 11:57Speaker 2: really stunning visuals. But we'll have a good time a
- 12:00Speaker 2: little bit later on playing some of that. And we're
- 12:02Speaker 2: going to be taking your calls. 901-260-5926. This is the
- 12:04Speaker 2: Todd Stern Show. All right, well, Ilhan is in a
- 12:23Speaker 2: foul mood as she's releasing a statement saying, make no mistake,
- 12:27Speaker 2: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize
- 12:31Speaker 2: federal law enforcement. For 10 years, Trump has targeted me
- 12:34Speaker 2: with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the
- 12:39Speaker 2: latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. Look, this
- 12:45Speaker 2: has nothing to do with silencing Ilhan Omar. This is
- 12:48Speaker 2: about making sure that immigration law is enforced. I mean,
- 12:53Speaker 2: that's what it's all about. CNN is just enraged over
- 12:58Speaker 2: all of this. Cut 13.
- 13:00Speaker 6: So some breaking news coming in as we speak. Learning
- 13:03Speaker 6: that federal officers have conducted a search and did so
- 13:07Speaker 6: early today at the home of Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.
- 13:11Speaker 6: CNN's Caitlin Polantz is gathering the details on this for
- 13:15Speaker 6: us and joins us now. Caitlin, what are you learning?
- 13:19Speaker 7: Kate, we're learning bits and pieces of what's happening here,
- 13:22Speaker 7: but there is a search that was going on this
- 13:24Speaker 7: morning or is going on still today. at the home
- 13:28Speaker 7: of Ilhan Omar, the Democratic representative from Minnesota, who is
- 13:33Speaker 7: also running again for Congress in the middle of this
- 13:36Speaker 7: election season. This would be her D.C.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Area home.
- 13:41Speaker 7: And the confirmation we've gotten of this is from the
- 13:45Speaker 7: Justice Department itself, them saying that the Justice Department secured
- 13:49Speaker 7: a court-authorized search warrant and that Homeland Security investigators said
- 13:55Speaker 7: would be the agency that is conducting this search this morning.
- 13:59Speaker 7: We don't have much more indication on exactly what this is,
- 14:02Speaker 7: but it appears to be some level of an immigration investigation,
- 14:08Speaker 7: given that it's Homeland Security doing this, and also some
- 14:12Speaker 7: of the statements that are coming out out of the
- 14:14Speaker 7: White House, specifically by White House border czar Tom Homan.
- 14:18Speaker 7: Here he is speaking to Fox News when asked about
- 14:22Speaker 7: Representative Ilhan Omar.
- 14:26Speaker 8: Well, I'm not going to get ahead of Todd Blanch
- 14:28Speaker 8: on this or Secretary Mullen, but we know this investigation
- 14:31Speaker 8: was ongoing for a while.
- 14:32Speaker 5: There was a warrant executed this morning.
- 14:35Speaker 8: So I'll leave it at that. Specifically, the investigation, I
- 14:38Speaker 8: think I need to turn that over to Todd Blanch
- 14:41Speaker 8: or Mark Wayne Mullen. I don't want to get ahead
- 14:43Speaker 8: of them commenting on an ongoing investigation.
- 14:48Speaker 7: Now, there have been allegations from Republicans and including from
- 14:53Speaker 7: Tom Homan, the White House borders are, that there could
- 14:58Speaker 7: be some level of immigration fraud. We don't have any
- 15:01Speaker 7: of that substantiated at this time, and there haven't been
- 15:04Speaker 7: any criminal charges or other. immigration enforcement actions against Representative Omar.
- 15:09Speaker 7: So this is an ongoing situation and we're still seeing
- 15:12Speaker 7: exactly what would come. But it is quite notable it's
- 15:15Speaker 7: in the middle of an election season and that this
- 15:17Speaker 7: is a sitting member of Congress running for reelection.
- 15:21Speaker 2: All right. Well, there you go. And that sitting Congress
- 15:24Speaker 2: gal may be sitting over in Somalia in a brand
- 15:28Speaker 2: new hut when it's all said and done. So anyway,
- 15:31Speaker 2: good riddance to Ilhan Omar. We'll keep you updated. on
- 15:36Speaker 2: the very latest there. So James Talofrico is back in
- 15:42Speaker 2: the headlines, and he's back out on the campaign trail. Now,
- 15:48Speaker 2: I have a couple of things to say about all
- 15:52Speaker 2: of this. So first of all, the latest rumblings are
- 15:57Speaker 2: that some of these MAGA citizen journalists went out there,
- 16:01Speaker 2: called the mental health hospital, and gave them some sort
- 16:07Speaker 2: of a code, and that code somehow allowed them to
- 16:13Speaker 2: get the information about Tallarico, and they're alleging that Tallarico
- 16:17Speaker 2: was indeed a patient at this mental hospital in Ohio
- 16:23Speaker 2: called the Linder Center. So the Linder Center is now saying, no,
- 16:29Speaker 2: this did not happen. He never was a patient at
- 16:33Speaker 2: the hospital. And it's just simply not true. So a
- 16:37Speaker 2: couple of things can be true here. First of all,
- 16:40Speaker 2: it is possible that the– and based on the way
- 16:44Speaker 2: it was presented by the reporters themselves– These citizen journalists
- 16:49Speaker 2: broke the law. I mean, if how they describe this
- 16:55Speaker 2: is how it all went down, they broke the law
- 16:59Speaker 2: and committed felonies by misrepresenting who they were to obtain
- 17:04Speaker 2: the private medical information of James Tallarico. And by the way,
- 17:09Speaker 2: it wouldn't matter if it was Ken Paxton. That is
- 17:12Speaker 2: a crime. You're not allowed to do that. On the
- 17:15Speaker 2: other side of the equation here is it's very possible
- 17:19Speaker 2: that he was a patient there, and Talofrico is just
- 17:23Speaker 2: outright lying to people's faces now. He's doubling down on
- 17:27Speaker 2: this notion that he had the flu. I don't know
- 17:29Speaker 2: anybody who's had the flu for two weeks. By the way,
- 17:33Speaker 2: I had to go in and have a heart procedure,
- 17:35Speaker 2: and I was back to work in, what, less than
- 17:38Speaker 2: a week. So whatever happened, Talofrico's not being honest with
- 17:44Speaker 2: the voters. And if I'm a voter in Texas, that's
- 17:47Speaker 2: what bothers me about all of this, is that the
- 17:49Speaker 2: guy's lying to you. He's lying to you. And, yeah,
- 17:53Speaker 2: I mean, it's a problem if he slapped crazy nuts,
- 17:56Speaker 2: but just about everybody up on Capitol Hill has slapped
- 17:58Speaker 2: crazy nuts. So that's not a bigger issue for me.
- 18:02Speaker 2: It's a credibility issue. And I'm telling you, Tallarico's not
- 18:07Speaker 2: being honest. He's not being honest about what he's been
- 18:11Speaker 2: up to over the past couple of weeks. And we
- 18:13Speaker 2: need to get to the bottom of that. All right,
- 18:15Speaker 2: got to take a break.
- 18:15Speaker 9: 901-260-5926.
- 18:16Speaker 2: That's 901-260-5926. We'll be right back. We'll be right back.
- 18:47Speaker 2: All right, welcome back, everybody. This is the Todd Stearns
- 18:50Speaker 2: Radio Show. Busy weekend. President Trump out on the campaign trail.
- 18:56Speaker 2: And ladies and gentlemen, I am feeling very confident that
- 18:59Speaker 2: the polling data that's out there showing the president in
- 19:04Speaker 2: a tailspin is just simply disinformation. I am not believing
- 19:09Speaker 2: the polling data. Now, you may feel otherwise, and I
- 19:12Speaker 2: would like to hear from you. I know there are
- 19:14Speaker 2: a lot of folks that are very concerned about about
- 19:17Speaker 2: the midterms, all of the polling data out there shows
- 19:20Speaker 2: the Republicans losing the House and the Senate. I believe
- 19:24Speaker 2: that the Republicans are going to maintain control of both
- 19:28Speaker 2: the House and the Senate. And I'll explain why in
- 19:31Speaker 2: just a moment. But the president came to Tennessee over
- 19:35Speaker 2: the weekend, and one of the big things he was
- 19:38Speaker 2: excited about was how safe it is on the streets
- 19:42Speaker 2: of Memphis, Tennessee. Cut number one.
- 19:45Speaker 3: But I have a guy talking to me that's a
- 19:46Speaker 3: friend of mine. He said, you know, I've been. in
- 19:50Speaker 3: Memphis for years. I was leaving. It was just absolutely leaving.
- 19:55Speaker 10: He said, the job you've done in Memphis, does anyone
- 19:58Speaker 10: have any idea what you've done?
- 20:00Speaker 3: You've made Memphis like a safe city.
- 20:03Speaker 10: We got rid of 12,000 career criminals. And my favorite stat,
- 20:07Speaker 10: maybe of any stat, 2% of the people create 91%
- 20:12Speaker 10: of the crime.
- 20:13Speaker 3: We can handle 2%.
- 20:15Speaker 10: We couldn't handle if it was 50%, but we can
- 20:18Speaker 10: handle 2%.
- 20:19Speaker 3: And we got them out of here. We got them out,
- 20:22Speaker 3: and you have a safe Memphis.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Yeah, and let me tell you something, and all of
- 20:28Speaker 2: our Memphis listeners, you guys know, and granted, and hear
- 20:33Speaker 2: me on this, because the media loves to mess around
- 20:36Speaker 2: with this. And they say, but people are still getting shot. Yeah,
- 20:40Speaker 2: that's true. But the crimes we're talking about, carjackings, the
- 20:45Speaker 2: armed robberies, all of those things are just have been
- 20:48Speaker 2: pretty much eliminated. I mean, it's remarkable. And yes, there
- 20:52Speaker 2: are people shooting each other in some of these really
- 20:54Speaker 2: bad neighborhoods. No doubt about that. But I'm telling you,
- 20:58Speaker 2: by and large, this is a very different city now.
- 21:01Speaker 2: as a result of the surge of the military coming
- 21:05Speaker 2: in and doing what the Democrats who control Memphis simply
- 21:08Speaker 2: refuse to do. And I'm just telling you, thank you, Mr. President.
- 21:11Speaker 2: You walk around the streets of Memphis, Tennessee, people are
- 21:15Speaker 2: going to tell you, wow, we're glad the president did
- 21:19Speaker 2: what he did. And hear me on this for a moment,
- 21:22Speaker 2: all right? Because The other side will say, well, Memphis
- 21:27Speaker 2: has become a military occupation. Not at all. Not at all.
- 21:33Speaker 2: As a matter of fact, when you do see the
- 21:35Speaker 2: National Guard troops winding around, they're having a good time.
- 21:38Speaker 2: They're posing for photographs with people, and their presence is
- 21:43Speaker 2: allowing the Memphis police officers to get out there and
- 21:47Speaker 2: do their jobs. And by the way, just like many
- 21:50Speaker 2: other major American cities here in Memphis, our police department's down,
- 21:53Speaker 2: I think, about 500 officers, 500 or 600 officers from
- 21:57Speaker 2: their full complement. So people who showed up at the
- 22:02Speaker 2: rally were really excited. And let me just paint the
- 22:06Speaker 2: picture for you. It was a nasty, rainy day. It
- 22:10Speaker 2: was college football, and SEC football is huge in the
- 22:14Speaker 2: state of Tennessee. So a lot of people were someplace else.
- 22:18Speaker 2: The arena in Clarksville had about, I don't know, seats about, what,
- 22:22Speaker 2: 6,000 people? They had 4,500 folks. Now, people were taking
- 22:27Speaker 2: pictures of the empty seats, and the White House rapid
- 22:31Speaker 2: response put out a statement saying, yeah, all of those
- 22:34Speaker 2: seats were, the view was you could not see anything,
- 22:39Speaker 2: so that's why they didn't have people sitting there. So
- 22:42Speaker 2: we're talking about, what, 1,500 seats were people, I mean,
- 22:45Speaker 2: 1,500 empty seats. So you can say whatever you want
- 22:49Speaker 2: to say about that, and there may be a good
- 22:52Speaker 2: reason for it, but I'm just telling you right now,
- 22:55Speaker 2: people are just thankful for what the president has done.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Cut number two, please. What do you think you would
- 23:01Speaker 2: tell President Trump if you could talk to him?
- 23:04Speaker 11: One thing I would say is he's doing a great job.
- 23:07Speaker 11: A lot of people don't realize how it was under
- 23:09Speaker 11: the last two administrations. And because of that, we're having
- 23:13Speaker 11: a better time now. Even though gas prices are a
- 23:16Speaker 11: little high because of the war, they're still a whole
- 23:18Speaker 11: lot lower than they were under Biden and President Obama.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Thank you for speaking truth.
- 23:24Speaker 12: So I guess what's another difference you would say between
- 23:27Speaker 12: when Obama was in office versus like now?
- 23:30Speaker 11: Well, Obama was more about what he could do to
- 23:34Speaker 11: help his friends. President Trump is about what he can
- 23:37Speaker 11: do to help the people.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Yeah, it's true. I mean, they're speaking truth. Here is
- 23:43Speaker 2: another Tennessee patriot that was interviewed outside the rally, and
- 23:47Speaker 2: people were lined up for hours and hours in the
- 23:51Speaker 2: rain waiting to get inside. Cut number three, please.
- 23:54Speaker 13: I think he's the best president we ever had, and
- 23:56Speaker 13: I've been around 71 years, so I can actually testify
- 23:58Speaker 13: to that. So actually, the last president I actually got
- 24:01Speaker 13: to meet was Ronald Reagan back in when he's laying
- 24:04Speaker 13: a wreath at the tomb of a soldier.
- 24:07Speaker 2: President Trump's way better.
- 24:08Speaker 5: He is.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Love President Trump. A lot of people do. Let's go
- 24:12Speaker 2: to the phones. David is listening to us in San Francisco. David,
- 24:17Speaker 2: what's on your mind today?
- 24:19Speaker 14: Well, yeah, I heard you talking about the polling. You know,
- 24:24Speaker 14: it's interesting. If you look in history, ancient Rome, you know,
- 24:29Speaker 14: you had Nero fiddling while Rome burned. You had Caligula,
- 24:33Speaker 14: who was very interested in killing people. And they would
- 24:37Speaker 14: toss the Christians to the lions, actually as a blood
- 24:41Speaker 14: sport for political gain. They were trying to scare people
- 24:47Speaker 14: into voting and supporting Caligula. And if you didn't support Caligula,
- 24:52Speaker 14: you'd be tossed to the lions next. So Christians really
- 24:56Speaker 14: should be shocked about using the death penalty just before
- 24:59Speaker 14: Election Day. And so the whole idea.
- 25:02Speaker 2: Well, hold on here, David. I'm going to give you
- 25:05Speaker 2: plenty of time to make your argument here, but let
- 25:08Speaker 2: me just correct you there. You're talking about the execution
- 25:12Speaker 2: of Nadal Hassan. Is that what we're talking about here?
- 25:16Speaker 14: Oh, not just that. If you think about the FCC chairman,
- 25:22Speaker 14: you know, says that Pete Hegseth gets to make the
- 25:25Speaker 14: decisions So the FCC, his whole job is to decide
- 25:31Speaker 14: whether or not blood sport is a good idea for
- 25:35Speaker 14: public consumption.
- 25:37Speaker 2: Well, David, hold on. David, hold on. Hold on just
- 25:40Speaker 2: a moment. First of all, the execution is scheduled for December,
- 25:44Speaker 2: which is like an entire month after the election. So
- 25:47Speaker 2: for you to suggest this is somehow because of the election,
- 25:49Speaker 2: that's just not accurate. The execution of Hassan is scheduled
- 25:53Speaker 2: for after the election. Also, President Trump now saying he's
- 25:59Speaker 2: not sure he hasn't made a final decision on whether
- 26:02Speaker 2: or not that will be live-streamed as the War Secretary
- 26:06Speaker 2: originally announced.
- 26:09Speaker 14: Well, I could stand corrected. I could stand corrected. I
- 26:18Speaker 14: guess that's grammatically correct. But the idea that Hegseth, The
- 26:23Speaker 14: guy that's murdered, I think he's laughing about he's killed
- 26:27Speaker 14: 182 different of these little boats with no judicial coverage,
- 26:32Speaker 14: no proof that these were drug boats or anything else.
- 26:37Speaker 14: He gets to decide. The FCC all of a sudden says, oh,
- 26:42Speaker 14: we'll let Hegseth decide. So you take a mass murderer
- 26:47Speaker 14: like Hegseth, and you allow him to decide whether or not,
- 26:51Speaker 14: not just America, but the world gets to watch an execution.
- 26:56Speaker 14: So this is pretty creepy, and I think all Christians
- 26:59Speaker 14: should be shocked at it.
- 27:01Speaker 2: David, I think you ought to be shocked by the
- 27:03Speaker 2: fact that Nadal Hassan, in the name of the so-called
- 27:06Speaker 2: religion of peace, waged jihad at Fort Hood, slaughtering 13
- 27:11Speaker 2: innocent people, seriously injuring 30 others. One of the people
- 27:18Speaker 2: that was killed happened to be a pregnant woman who
- 27:21Speaker 2: was shouting, my baby, my baby, as he killed her
- 27:25Speaker 2: and her unborn child. I mean, we're talking about a
- 27:28Speaker 2: monster here who was sentenced to death, and that sentence
- 27:33Speaker 2: is being carried out. And by the way, Pete Hegseth
- 27:35Speaker 2: did not sentence this guy to death.
- 27:39Speaker 14: Well, again, the opportunity for Christians... to prove the validity
- 27:45Speaker 14: of Jesus' teachings, that executions are wrong, and that if
- 27:51Speaker 14: the Muslims, who are also in the family of Abraham,
- 27:58Speaker 14: are not living up to the standards of Moses, they're
- 28:01Speaker 14: not living up to the standards of Jesus, and they're
- 28:05Speaker 14: going off on a wild tangent, it's still important for
- 28:09Speaker 14: Christians to live up to the standards of Jesus. that
- 28:13Speaker 14: an eye for an eye is not the new covenant.
- 28:17Speaker 2: Yes, it is. As a matter of fact, it is, David.
- 28:20Speaker 2: And I want to correct you on something else as well.
- 28:23Speaker 2: It was not Pete Hegseth who sentenced this man to death.
- 28:27Speaker 2: That was decided by the military. So under the Uniform
- 28:33Speaker 2: Code of Military Justice, that's how the process works. So
- 28:37Speaker 2: the secretary could recommend an execution order, and oversee the implementation,
- 28:43Speaker 2: but he's overseeing the implementation of a sentence that has
- 28:47Speaker 2: been handed down. Now, as for the Bible... The Bible
- 28:53Speaker 2: is very clear that both in the Old and the
- 28:56Speaker 2: New Testament that it recognizes the government authority to punish wrongdoing.
- 29:03Speaker 2: If you look at Romans chapter 13, verse 4, if
- 29:06Speaker 2: you want to go back multiple passages of Scripture in
- 29:10Speaker 2: the Old Testament, also advocate for the death penalty if
- 29:15Speaker 2: someone takes a life. And in this case, I think
- 29:17Speaker 2: that guy certainly meets that level.
- 29:21Speaker 14: Well, if you remember, Paul was the one that got
- 29:26Speaker 14: about two-thirds of the Bible. You remember, Jesus is only
- 29:31Speaker 14: in about one-third of the New Testament. Two-thirds of it
- 29:35Speaker 14: was written by a guy who not only never saw him,
- 29:39Speaker 14: but he was a martyr. was a tax collector who
- 29:44Speaker 14: got a vision and suddenly became the author of about
- 29:48Speaker 14: two-thirds of the New Testament.
- 29:49Speaker 2: That's right, and it is the inspired and errant word
- 29:54Speaker 2: of God, which is how I view Holy Scripture. But David,
- 29:59Speaker 2: I want to go back to something here. And again,
- 30:03Speaker 2: The Bible is very clear when it comes to executions.
- 30:08Speaker 2: And quite frankly, we need this in the country, if
- 30:13Speaker 2: nothing else, as a deterrent for anyone out there who's
- 30:17Speaker 2: thinking about committing this sort of crime. I've got to
- 30:21Speaker 2: leave it there, David. Appreciate the call. And again, ladies
- 30:25Speaker 2: and gentlemen, come armed with facts, and we can have
- 30:28Speaker 2: that conversation. 901-260-5926 is our telephone number. That's 901-260-5926. And
- 30:37Speaker 2: let me say this. Speaker Mike Johnson is now pushing
- 30:42Speaker 2: back and saying, hey, look, maybe this does not need
- 30:45Speaker 2: to be broadcast on national TV or live streamed because
- 30:50Speaker 2: it might encourage others to wage jihad on Americans. Quite frankly,
- 30:58Speaker 2: This guy should have been put to death a long
- 31:00Speaker 2: time ago, a long time ago. And I don't know
- 31:04Speaker 2: about you, but I am tired of footing the bill
- 31:07Speaker 2: for these people like Krista Pike in Tennessee on death
- 31:10Speaker 2: row for 30 years when she admitted to doing what
- 31:14Speaker 2: she did, and she has absolutely zero remorse. So what
- 31:20Speaker 2: are we waiting for? 901-260-5926, our telephone number. That's 901-260-5926.
- 31:23Speaker 2: This is the Todd Stern Show. All right. Welcome back, everybody.
- 31:43Speaker 2: This is the Todd Stearns Radio Show. By the way, Dylan,
- 31:46Speaker 2: over the weekend, this was the first weekend I've been
- 31:52Speaker 2: home with nothing to do in like weeks. So I
- 31:55Speaker 2: just sort of vegged out. Did go to the Memphis
- 31:59Speaker 2: Tigers football game, though.
- 32:01Speaker 4: I saw that you went there.
- 32:02Speaker 2: That looks fun. It was a lot of fun. Love
- 32:05Speaker 2: the new stadium. And it really is an experience. If
- 32:09Speaker 2: you haven't been, Those of you in the Memphis area,
- 32:12Speaker 2: you got to go. It was the Battle of the Bones,
- 32:15Speaker 2: which is the big rivalry between the University of Alabama, Birmingham,
- 32:20Speaker 2: and the University of Memphis.
- 32:21Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a good rivalry for Memphis. I like it.
- 32:25Speaker 2: The trophy is basically a rack of ribs.
- 32:28Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, which obviously we have to claim that because
- 32:31Speaker 4: we are the Memphis Tigers.
- 32:33Speaker 2: That's right. I came in here talking smack about our barbecue,
- 32:36Speaker 2: and we had to– We had to show him a
- 32:38Speaker 2: thing or two.
- 32:39Speaker 4: Yeah, we never take that too well.
- 32:40Speaker 2: No, no, not at all, not at all. Anyway, great job,
- 32:43Speaker 2: University of Memphis, and that was a lot of fun.
- 32:46Speaker 2: But I watched the Nick Saban special on Netflix or
- 32:50Speaker 2: Disney or one of those things, and it was fascinating.
- 32:53Speaker 4: Yeah, I've been actually wanting to watch that because, I mean,
- 32:56Speaker 4: obviously he's a legendary coach, but the ways that he
- 32:59Speaker 4: coached players and other coaches, the relationships he had, it
- 33:03Speaker 4: was something different. You're never going to get that probably again.
- 33:06Speaker 2: It was, I was just, you're going to love it.
- 33:09Speaker 2: And it's multiple episodes. I think I'm like through episode
- 33:12Speaker 2: number two. I kept falling asleep, but that's nothing on
- 33:15Speaker 2: this special. I was just exhausted. Every 30 minutes, I'm
- 33:19Speaker 2: out like a light.
- 33:19Speaker 4: You know, that's why I like the Memphis Tigers head
- 33:22Speaker 4: coach too, because, you know, he coached under Nick Saban.
- 33:25Speaker 4: And I see a lot of Nick Saban in that coach,
- 33:27Speaker 4: which is probably why I like him.
- 33:28Speaker 2: Coach Huff.
- 33:29Speaker 4: Coach Huff.
- 33:30Speaker 2: Oh, we have breaking news to share.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Breaking news now on the Todd Starnes Show.
- 33:37Speaker 2: Those of you in Memphis, Pesci's Italian Deli is in
- 33:41Speaker 2: fact open today. So if you want your meatball fix,
- 33:45Speaker 2: you can head on down. I'm not sure that was
- 33:48Speaker 2: a legitimate net. No, you know what? It is a
- 33:50Speaker 2: major national news story.
- 33:51Speaker 4: We paid for it.
- 33:52Speaker 2: I was going to be distracted for the rest of
- 33:54Speaker 2: the show. So I had to text the poor guy.
- 33:57Speaker 2: He literally makes the meatballs as he listens to our podcast.
- 34:00Speaker 4: That's awesome. I feel like now we kind of should
- 34:03Speaker 4: get it. We owe it to ourselves to get some meatballs.
- 34:05Speaker 5: Absolutely.
- 34:06Speaker 2: Absolutely. We need to do that.
- 34:07Speaker 4: On your dime, of course.
- 34:10Speaker 2: Yes, of course. But going back to Saban, you know,
- 34:13Speaker 2: it's an amazing story, but the guy, you know, he
- 34:17Speaker 2: was not always Nick Saban. You know, he had some
- 34:20Speaker 2: really tough times at LSU and at, oh, by the way,
- 34:26Speaker 2: Lane Kiffin.
- 34:27Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 34:28Speaker 2: Wow.
- 34:29Speaker 4: Love that.
- 34:29Speaker 2: What happened there? Yeah.
- 34:32Speaker 4: I love that. I love that LSU lost in that way, too.
- 34:36Speaker 2: Going for two.
- 34:37Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 34:37Speaker 2: I mean, that was remarkable. I mean, good for what
- 34:41Speaker 2: Kentucky's now. Five and one.
- 34:43Speaker 4: Five and one. Never heard of this team before. Five
- 34:46Speaker 4: and one.
- 34:47Speaker 2: It's like, you know, between Kentucky and Vanderbilt, Vanderbilt's like
- 34:51Speaker 2: the Alabama of that group. But, you know.
- 34:55Speaker 5: Yeah, Vanderbilt.
- 34:56Speaker 2: South Carolina put them in there.
- 34:58Speaker 4: It was a crazy SEC football weekend. That's a whole
- 35:00Speaker 4: different conversation.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Just across the board. What, Oklahoma beating Texas?
- 35:04Speaker 16: Yep.
- 35:05Speaker 2: And, I mean, it's just– it was insane. And then
- 35:08Speaker 2: Tennessee almost got– look, if Tennessee had lost to Arkansas,
- 35:13Speaker 2: that would have been it for Coach Heim.
- 35:16Speaker 4: No, you would never hear the end of that. And
- 35:18Speaker 4: then Georgia-Alabama, that was a great game.
- 35:20Speaker 5: Crazy.
- 35:21Speaker 2: I don't want to irritate– we've got a lot of
- 35:23Speaker 2: Georgia listeners.
- 35:24Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 35:25Speaker 2: But there is some debate over whether or not Alabama
- 35:29Speaker 2: got ripped off.
- 35:29Speaker 4: I would join that debate, but I also don't want
- 35:31Speaker 4: to get in trouble by the Georgia fans.
- 35:34Speaker 2: I'm just– I'm just telling you that was ferocious, but
- 35:39Speaker 2: that was a very questionable play. I will say this though,
- 35:42Speaker 2: through the years, Alabama has always, um, the refs have
- 35:47Speaker 2: always been kind to Alabama.
- 35:49Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 35:50Speaker 2: So maybe a little bit of payback here.
- 35:53Speaker 4: Yeah, it might be.
- 35:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:55Speaker 4: But you know, who knows? I never seen the Alabama
- 35:58Speaker 4: coach get that angry. I don't know if you saw
- 35:59Speaker 4: the videos of him. He actually was very emotional, like
- 36:03Speaker 4: emoting when that play happened. And then afterwards, he was like, well,
- 36:07Speaker 4: we can't let it come down to that one play.
- 36:09Speaker 2: You know, it's interesting about Saban. Do you know how
- 36:12Speaker 2: Saban became one of the most important coaches, one of
- 36:18Speaker 2: the most powerful coaches of all time in college sports?
- 36:21Speaker 2: He went to go see a sports psychiatrist. And they interviewed,
- 36:24Speaker 2: they brought him to the sports psychiatrist. And when you
- 36:26Speaker 2: see the guy, he looks like a wizard. The long
- 36:30Speaker 2: white hair.
- 36:31Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 36:32Speaker 2: I mean, he and Saban met up, I think, at
- 36:35Speaker 2: Michigan State, if I'm remembering the documentary correctly, because I
- 36:39Speaker 2: nodded off a couple of times. But I'm going back
- 36:42Speaker 2: and watching the rest of it tonight. But the psychiatrist
- 36:48Speaker 2: changed his mindset about how you play the game, and
- 36:52Speaker 2: the rest is history. And it's really shocking how something
- 36:55Speaker 2: that simple made Saban Nick Saban. Not to mention his wife,
- 37:00Speaker 2: Miss Terry. And I think I'm more scared of her
- 37:03Speaker 2: than Coach Saban. Hang tight, everybody. Got to take a
- 37:07Speaker 2: quick break. We'll be right back.
- 37:23Speaker 1: From Memphis, Tennessee, it's Common Sense Conservative Commentary from Todd Starnes.
- 37:38Speaker 2: And happy Columbus Day, America. Welcome to the Todd Starnes
- 37:42Speaker 2: Radio Program. Great to have you with us today. Hour
- 37:45Speaker 2: two of the big show. Coming up a little bit later,
- 37:48Speaker 2: I'm excited for you to hear this. We have a
- 37:51Speaker 2: copy of our C-SPAN book special. We filmed this at
- 37:57Speaker 2: Lancaster Baptist Church in northern Los Angeles County, what, about
- 38:01Speaker 2: a week or so ago, and it aired yesterday on
- 38:04Speaker 2: C-SPAN's book channel and just had an absolute great time
- 38:08Speaker 2: defending President Trump on, of all channels, C-SPAN. So, We're
- 38:13Speaker 2: going to play some of that a little bit later
- 38:15Speaker 2: on in the next hour of the program. Right now, though,
- 38:19Speaker 2: we're following the breaking news coming out of our nation's
- 38:22Speaker 2: capital where federal agents staged a pre-dawn raid at the
- 38:27Speaker 2: home of Congresswoman Ilhan Omar. And they were bringing out,
- 38:31Speaker 2: agents were bringing out all sorts of boxes and suitcases. Clearly,
- 38:38Speaker 2: they are looking for something. Now, Ilhan Omar has not
- 38:42Speaker 2: been arrested. She has not been charged. But we will
- 38:44Speaker 2: keep you updated on that story. I want to go
- 38:47Speaker 2: right away to our Patriot Mobile Newsmaker line and say
- 38:51Speaker 2: a very nice hello to Wendy Patrick, who is a
- 38:55Speaker 2: great Newsmax columnist and also a great legal mind. Wendy,
- 38:59Speaker 2: hope you're doing well today.
- 39:01Speaker 9: It's always a pleasure to join you, Todd. It's been
- 39:03Speaker 9: too long.
- 39:05Speaker 3: It has.
- 39:05Speaker 2: Look, you've been gallivanting all over the world, so we're
- 39:10Speaker 2: just glad you're back with us.
- 39:12Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 39:14Speaker 2: Wendy, let's talk about what happened today in Washington. A
- 39:18Speaker 2: lot of people are chattering about this. Ilhan Omar is enraged.
- 39:23Speaker 2: Rashida Tlaib accusing President Trump of being vindictive. What do
- 39:29Speaker 2: you think has going on here, and what do you
- 39:31Speaker 2: think the feds were looking for?
- 39:33Speaker 9: Yeah, I'll tell you what, Todd, great questions. One thing
- 39:36Speaker 9: we do when we don't know what evidence they're looking
- 39:38Speaker 9: for is we look at the circumstantial evidence, if you will,
- 39:42Speaker 9: that surrounds the raid. Now, it wasn't really a raid
- 39:45Speaker 9: in the sense of breaking down doors and detaining people.
- 39:48Speaker 9: There's no evidence she was there. But Todd, it is
- 39:51Speaker 9: interesting that it was pre-dawn, as you mentioned, and that
- 39:54Speaker 9: could have been because the authorities wanted to get in
- 39:56Speaker 9: and out without causing too much disruption to the neighborhood.
- 40:00Speaker 9: But regarding what they're looking for, you know, we have
- 40:02Speaker 9: heard some reporting that it might have something to do
- 40:04Speaker 9: with fraud and immigration documents. But as you mentioned, carrying
- 40:08Speaker 9: out things like boxes and suitcases, something has to be
- 40:12Speaker 9: in those items. They found something of interest. Now, I
- 40:16Speaker 9: always start with the official reports. And we've got the
- 40:19Speaker 9: Department of Justice, the DOJ, confirming that HSI had a
- 40:24Speaker 9: judicially authorized search warrant. So there was no probable cause
- 40:27Speaker 9: to be able to execute a search. And that it's
- 40:29Speaker 9: part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation. But you're also
- 40:33Speaker 9: correct that without an arrest or any type of charge,
- 40:36Speaker 9: We just don't know whether as a result of this raid,
- 40:40Speaker 9: this search warrant being executed, we're now going to be
- 40:42Speaker 9: moving into something more substantial. And, Todd, we would be
- 40:45Speaker 9: remiss if we didn't talk about the timing less than
- 40:48Speaker 9: a month before the midterms.
- 40:50Speaker 2: That is interesting. And, you know, Paula, everything is always
- 40:54Speaker 2: political at this stage of the game. I want to
- 40:58Speaker 2: share this. This is from Fox News' reporting. They're just
- 41:02Speaker 2: posting that all of this stems from a criminal fraud
- 41:05Speaker 2: investigation into immigration paperwork, which was actually filled out by
- 41:10Speaker 2: her late father when she was a child. So I'm wondering, Wendy,
- 41:15Speaker 2: from a legal standpoint, can a child be responsible for
- 41:19Speaker 2: any sort of fraud committed by the parent in this case?
- 41:24Speaker 9: Normally, you see it the exact opposite, don't you? We're
- 41:26Speaker 9: always looking at when shall we hold parents responsible for
- 41:30Speaker 9: the conduct of their children. We don't see it the
- 41:32Speaker 9: other way. Now, that may be what they're looking for
- 41:35Speaker 9: in this particular instance, but there may be other circumstances
- 41:39Speaker 9: that would have caused them to execute the search where
- 41:41Speaker 9: they did. I thought it was interesting that it was
- 41:44Speaker 9: her D.C. home, not her home back in her own jurisdiction.
- 41:48Speaker 9: It was also interesting that this was something that apparently
- 41:51Speaker 9: was done at least partially in the cover of darkness.
- 41:55Speaker 9: Why wouldn't that be something that was done over a
- 41:58Speaker 9: weekend instead of a Monday morning, which seems like a
- 42:00Speaker 9: pretty busy time to be doing this type of a thing.
- 42:04Speaker 9: But again, you know what we're doing? We're trying to
- 42:05Speaker 9: read tea leaves, Todd. We don't have as much as
- 42:08Speaker 9: we need. And the explanation that I heard as well,
- 42:12Speaker 9: the potential fraud and immigration paperwork by her father is,
- 42:15Speaker 9: wouldn't explain the location of the search. We're missing the tie-in,
- 42:19Speaker 9: but I mean, you know, in the news, we like
- 42:21Speaker 9: sort of speculating and trying to figure out what we
- 42:23Speaker 9: can learn behind the scenes, but we just don't have
- 42:26Speaker 9: enough to be able to make that connection right now.
- 42:30Speaker 9: It is something that is optics-wise at least concerning in
- 42:33Speaker 9: terms of its proximity to the midterm, which makes me think, Todd,
- 42:37Speaker 9: we're going to hear an explanation sooner rather than later
- 42:40Speaker 9: to avoid allegations of trying to ruin her chances at
- 42:42Speaker 9: the polls.
- 42:43Speaker 2: You know, one of the other things that's interesting here
- 42:45Speaker 2: is that it's not just Homeland Security, which I'm surmising
- 42:51Speaker 2: here would involve the immigration part of it. But the
- 42:55Speaker 2: DOJ is also involved here, and they're confirming there is
- 42:58Speaker 2: a criminal component to all of this. Fox News is
- 43:02Speaker 2: bringing up the fact that there have been a lot
- 43:05Speaker 2: of questions about the assets that she and her husband have.
- 43:09Speaker 2: Now $ 125, 000, which is a multi-million dollar drop from the
- 43:15Speaker 2: year before, about $ 29. 9 million difference there. So you have
- 43:21Speaker 2: to wonder, okay, are they looking at that as well,
- 43:25Speaker 2: especially with the number of boxes and suitcases they were
- 43:28Speaker 2: bringing out of that house today?
- 43:31Speaker 9: You know, you and I have talked about this in
- 43:33Speaker 9: the past, as have so many other outlets. When you
- 43:36Speaker 9: look at, gosh, who knew this was such a lucrative
- 43:38Speaker 9: way to make money, looking at the net worth of
- 43:40Speaker 9: this couple a couple of years ago versus today. People
- 43:44Speaker 9: have been dismissing that, making jokes about it. But now
- 43:47Speaker 9: that we actually have a search warrant having been executed,
- 43:50Speaker 9: perhaps it lends a little more credibility to the questions
- 43:54Speaker 9: that were being asked. Now, she may have answers to
- 43:56Speaker 9: those questions. They may be able to explain away some
- 44:00Speaker 9: of these circumstances. But I do also wonder, you know,
- 44:05Speaker 9: is it much of that kept online now or stored electronically?
- 44:08Speaker 9: Whereas it appears, if you're looking at boxes, were they files?
- 44:12Speaker 9: Were they bank records? You know, we have to keep
- 44:14Speaker 9: all of our information for a certain amount of years.
- 44:16Speaker 9: It does seem, the fact that it's linked to a
- 44:19Speaker 9: criminal federal investigation, that it could very well be anything
- 44:23Speaker 9: under that umbrella. But, you know, why not at least,
- 44:26Speaker 9: you know, we're speculating that it might have something to
- 44:28Speaker 9: do with the allegations that have been made, as you mentioned,
- 44:31Speaker 9: over the last several months.
- 44:33Speaker 2: Wendy Patrick on our Patriot Mobile Newsmaker line today. Wendy,
- 44:36Speaker 2: I want to switch gears here. We are in the
- 44:39Speaker 2: homestretch here from this midterm election, a contentious midterm election,
- 44:44Speaker 2: all sorts of crazy stories. One of them from Texas
- 44:48Speaker 2: with James Tallarico, who has now made a miraculous discovery.
- 44:52Speaker 2: And if we are to believe what they were telling us,
- 44:55Speaker 2: 12 days this guy was bedridden with the flu, yet
- 44:59Speaker 2: he pops up, doesn't look like he's lost a single pound,
- 45:03Speaker 2: and says he's alive and well. Meanwhile, you have some
- 45:06Speaker 2: MAGA citizen journalists who say they reached out to this
- 45:11Speaker 2: mental health hospital in Ohio, and they say that someone
- 45:15Speaker 2: at the mental health hospital told them that Tallarico was,
- 45:20Speaker 2: in fact, a patient. And, Wendy, I'm catching a lot
- 45:23Speaker 2: of blowback from MAGA World because I pointed out that
- 45:26Speaker 2: the way those citizen journalists described how they got that
- 45:29Speaker 2: information was a crime, was a criminal offense they have committed.
- 45:34Speaker 2: by misrepresenting who they were to get that information, if
- 45:38Speaker 2: in fact all of this went down the way they
- 45:40Speaker 2: say it went down. But what do you make of
- 45:42Speaker 2: all the controversy surrounding Tallarico?
- 45:46Speaker 9: You know, Todd, that's why you make the big bucks
- 45:48Speaker 9: is you're not afraid to get a little bit of
- 45:50Speaker 9: blowback by saying what's on your mind. That's also why
- 45:53Speaker 9: you have so many followers. But look, I like you
- 45:56Speaker 9: and our listeners and viewers followed it with much interest.
- 45:59Speaker 9: You know, when you're a candidate, silence is not golden.
- 46:02Speaker 9: You don't go missing in action and absence does not
- 46:05Speaker 9: make the heart grow fonder. This is a candidate that
- 46:08Speaker 9: was doing much better than expected. it wasn't exactly the
- 46:12Speaker 9: kind of circumstances that you would think a candidate would
- 46:15Speaker 9: shy away from. Now, I understand that he popped up
- 46:18Speaker 9: and I understand he looks fine, but remember during that time,
- 46:21Speaker 9: at least near the beginning, there were a couple of
- 46:23Speaker 9: virtual appearances. You remember he was blowing his nose, he
- 46:27Speaker 9: was coughing. If he was at some kind of a
- 46:31Speaker 9: mental facility or a health facility of some kind, God
- 46:35Speaker 9: bless him for getting the help that he needs. If
- 46:38Speaker 9: that were true, you would expect that his team would
- 46:40Speaker 9: come forward with some transparency. That has to be one
- 46:44Speaker 9: of the questions that constituents are asking because of credibility. Now,
- 46:49Speaker 9: I also think it's important because it's such a close race.
- 46:51Speaker 9: It wasn't supposed to be a race this close, Todd.
- 46:54Speaker 9: And in that respect, it's similar to other races around
- 46:58Speaker 9: the country where you have Democratic candidates doing much better
- 47:02Speaker 9: than expected in red or purple districts. So I'm sure
- 47:06Speaker 9: we're going to get to the bottom of this. And
- 47:08Speaker 9: then the question is going to be, would the lack
- 47:10Speaker 9: of transparency lend itself to a judgment problem or credibility
- 47:15Speaker 9: problem or both moving forward if he wants to achieve
- 47:19Speaker 9: this office? Yes, indeed.
- 47:20Speaker 2: Yeah. And again, when you look at Texas, and I'm
- 47:25Speaker 2: not surprised that it is that close because poor Ken
- 47:28Speaker 2: Paxton is fighting. First of all, he's not a great candidate.
- 47:31Speaker 16: All right.
- 47:31Speaker 2: He's not a good campaigner. And that's just the way
- 47:34Speaker 2: it is with some of these guys. But that being said,
- 47:38Speaker 2: you've got the establishment Republican Party in Texas working against him.
- 47:42Speaker 2: John Cornyn, George W. Bush, they're out there helping other
- 47:46Speaker 2: candidates but not giving Paxton any help at all. And
- 47:50Speaker 2: I was reading one report. It was Tom Tillis. Tom
- 47:54Speaker 2: Tillis from North Carolina said that there are at least
- 47:57Speaker 2: 30 Republican senators up on Capitol Hill. that are actively
- 48:02Speaker 2: working against the President's America First agenda. And so I'm
- 48:06Speaker 2: really wondering, Wendy, if a lot of these close races
- 48:09Speaker 2: are really self-inflicted as a result of this Republican infighting
- 48:14Speaker 2: that's happening.
- 48:15Speaker 9: Such a great point, Todd. And that's one of the
- 48:17Speaker 9: reasons that President Trump was trying to give Ken Paxton
- 48:20Speaker 9: some help. recently by appearing there because the president lends
- 48:24Speaker 9: his enthusiasm to lackluster candidates. You know, not everybody running
- 48:28Speaker 9: for office is as energetic and enthusiastic and interesting as
- 48:33Speaker 9: President Trump. You know, like him or hate him, he's
- 48:35Speaker 9: an interesting candidate. And there again, there's a Freudian slip.
- 48:38Speaker 9: He's not a candidate. He's not on the ballot. But
- 48:40Speaker 9: that's his reminder of to the constituencies is pretend he's
- 48:45Speaker 9: on the ballot. So that's why he's crisscrossing as a surrogate.
- 48:49Speaker 9: Talk about a role reversal. He's a surrogate for a
- 48:52Speaker 9: lot of these candidates that otherwise don't have the kind
- 48:55Speaker 9: of support you might expect they would because of the
- 48:58Speaker 9: makeup of their districts, despite, and you mentioned a good point, despite, unfortunately,
- 49:03Speaker 9: some of their colleagues and definitely their detractors working against
- 49:07Speaker 9: them in those locations.
- 49:09Speaker 2: Yeah, it's windy overall. If you want to put on
- 49:13Speaker 2: your prognosticator hat, how do you think it is going
- 49:15Speaker 2: to go for the midterms?
- 49:17Speaker 9: Well, I think that the fact that so many... Democratic
- 49:20Speaker 9: socialists are now being more open about their beliefs may
- 49:24Speaker 9: give more moderate Democratic voters pause. I think had there
- 49:28Speaker 9: not been that uprising, there may have been a more
- 49:30Speaker 9: of a blue wave than we're probably going to end
- 49:32Speaker 9: up seeing. I don't think the ongoing war in Iran
- 49:35Speaker 9: is going to help Republican candidates. But when it comes
- 49:38Speaker 9: to alternatives, there may not be this belief that voting
- 49:41Speaker 9: Democrats going to lower the price of the pump. So
- 49:44Speaker 9: it's probably going to come down, in a word, Todd,
- 49:47Speaker 9: to turnout. And that's what you really see both sides
- 49:50Speaker 9: focusing on right now.
- 49:53Speaker 2: Wendy Patrick, always great analysis. And it's great to see
- 49:57Speaker 2: you again. Glad you're doing well. And we look forward
- 50:00Speaker 2: to getting you back on next week, Wendy.
- 50:02Speaker 9: Thank you, Todd. See you then.
- 50:04Speaker 2: All right. The great Wendy Patrick, everybody. And be sure
- 50:06Speaker 2: to follow her on all of her social media platforms.
- 50:10Speaker 2: I am curious, ladies and gentlemen. How do you feel
- 50:14Speaker 2: like things are going? Are you feeling like we're going
- 50:16Speaker 2: to have a big win for Republicans in the midterms?
- 50:20Speaker 2: Or do you think the Democrats have the momentum right now?
- 50:23Speaker 2: Our telephone number, 901-260-5926. Again, that's 901-260-5926. We'll be taking
- 50:25Speaker 2: your calls. By the way, this segment of the program
- 50:28Speaker 2: brought to you by our friends at Newsmax.com. Let me
- 50:40Speaker 2: tell you something. Millions of Americans are now watching Newsmax
- 50:45Speaker 2: making the switch. As a matter of fact, Rob Schmidt
- 50:49Speaker 2: tonight talking about the war for America's future, revealing that
- 50:54Speaker 2: many Americans are embracing socialism now, especially young people. And
- 50:58Speaker 2: he's also exposing the hidden dangers of socialism and its
- 51:02Speaker 2: war on our freedom. Rob has the whole story on
- 51:06Speaker 2: Trump and the media. Why big media won't tell you
- 51:09Speaker 2: the truth about the president's incredible record, which, by the way,
- 51:13Speaker 2: I outline in my new book, The Golden Age. Millions
- 51:17Speaker 2: are making the switch to Newsmax, and you should too,
- 51:19Speaker 2: ladies and gentlemen. Download the free Newsmax app today on
- 51:23Speaker 2: your phone and start watching us anytime, anywhere in the world. Newsmax,
- 51:28Speaker 2: real news for real people. All right, welcome back, everybody.
- 51:42Speaker 2: This is the Todd Stearns Radio Show. You are not
- 51:46Speaker 2: going to believe what I'm about to share with you.
- 51:49Speaker 2: So we're going to have to go back in the
- 51:51Speaker 2: Todd Stearns Radio Show time machine. We're cranking it up today.
- 51:56Speaker 2: We're going to go back to when Ilhan Omar, and
- 51:59Speaker 2: by the way, for the longest time it was Ilhan,
- 52:01Speaker 2: but now they're calling her Ilhan. I just can't do
- 52:04Speaker 2: the Ilhan Omar thing. Anyway, she was talking about World
- 52:10Speaker 2: War II. And, of course, World War II, it's got
- 52:13Speaker 2: the Roman numerals, right? Here's Ilhan Omar talking about WWII.
- 52:21Speaker 16: The last time the Alien Enemies Act was invoked, it
- 52:24Speaker 16: was used to detain and deport German, Japanese, Italian immigrants
- 52:31Speaker 16: during World War XI. Oh, two.
- 52:34Speaker 11: Sorry.
- 52:35Speaker 16: One of the most shameful chapters of America.
- 52:37Speaker 11: All right.
- 52:38Speaker 2: There we go. She called World War II World War XI.
- 52:44Speaker 2: So Bill Malugin over at Fox is sharing this intel.
- 52:50Speaker 2: The federal criminal investigation, the fraud investigation into Omar, it's
- 52:56Speaker 2: officially called World War XI. You've got to love it.
- 53:01Speaker 2: So well done. You know, well done Justice Department. At
- 53:06Speaker 2: least they've got a little sense of humor. So there
- 53:08Speaker 2: you go. We'll keep you updated on any sorts of developments.
- 53:12Speaker 2: But let me just say this. Going back to what
- 53:15Speaker 2: Wendy Patrick said, there's more to this. This is not
- 53:18Speaker 2: just about something her father may have done or not
- 53:22Speaker 2: done with immigration papers. There's something much bigger at stake here.
- 53:29Speaker 2: And we're going to keep you updated on that. 901-260-5926,
- 53:32Speaker 2: our telephone number. That's 901-260-5926. And just a reminder, ladies
- 53:35Speaker 2: and gentlemen, As we move towards Election Day, do not
- 53:47Speaker 2: believe any of the negative polling data. All of those
- 53:51Speaker 2: polls are meant to demoralize you. They want you to
- 53:56Speaker 2: stay home. They want you to be dejected. And they
- 53:59Speaker 2: don't want you to go out and vote on Election Day.
- 54:02Speaker 2: And you cannot succumb to that. Can't do it. Let's
- 54:06Speaker 2: go to John in Kentucky. Hey, John, what's going on?
- 54:11Speaker 17: Hey there, Mr.
- 54:12Speaker 2: Todd.
- 54:12Speaker 5: You know what?
- 54:13Speaker 17: You know, you made some really good points. You know what?
- 54:16Speaker 17: You can put all the facts in front of these
- 54:18Speaker 17: democratic socialists or whatever you want to call them in
- 54:21Speaker 17: these colleges and universities. You can show them the facts.
- 54:25Speaker 17: They killed Charlie Kirk for it. You put everything out
- 54:29Speaker 17: there as far as why they can't allow these democratic socialists,
- 54:35Speaker 17: these communists to hold office. Todd, you've been saying it
- 54:39Speaker 17: for years. It's our country to lose. And you know what?
- 54:43Speaker 17: The greatest danger to this republic is the uninformed electorate,
- 54:46Speaker 17: now the informed electorate or disinformed electorate. They allow this
- 54:51Speaker 17: country to go the direction that a lot of these
- 54:53Speaker 17: establishment media are going to do. We're going to lose
- 54:55Speaker 17: President Trump. They're going to impeach him. And there's a
- 54:58Speaker 17: saying out there, and I don't know, and I'll listen
- 55:00Speaker 17: for your comment. You can vote your way into socialism,
- 55:04Speaker 17: but you're going to have to shoot your way out.
- 55:07Speaker 17: And thank God we have a Constitution, Todd, and thank
- 55:09Speaker 17: God we got you. And this is going out to
- 55:11Speaker 17: all those listeners. They probably don't really care what I
- 55:13Speaker 17: have to say, but it's your country to lose. And
- 55:17Speaker 17: I don't know how many people that have fled these
- 55:19Speaker 17: communist countries have been shouting at the top of their
- 55:22Speaker 17: lungs about it. Go down to Florida, Cuban exile. But
- 55:27Speaker 17: you know what? You fail to listen to these people.
- 55:30Speaker 17: You win with your country.
- 55:31Speaker 2: John, we got to leave it there. It's a great point.
- 55:34Speaker 2: And let me just say this. They're not going to
- 55:36Speaker 2: shut us up. I can promise you that right now.
- 55:39Speaker 2: All right. Hang tight, everybody. Got to take a quick break.
- 55:41Speaker 2: We'll be right back. All right. Welcome back. You know, Dylan,
- 56:00Speaker 2: we had an actor on from the Memphis area. The
- 56:07Speaker 2: musical talent in Memphis, Tennessee, I will put it up
- 56:10Speaker 2: against anything coming out of Nashville right now.
- 56:13Speaker 4: Oh, it's insane. Very talented young people here.
- 56:16Speaker 2: And it's just the authenticity level. You know what we're
- 56:20Speaker 2: going to do? We're going to try to play maybe
- 56:22Speaker 2: later on this hour if we have time. We're going
- 56:25Speaker 2: to play the new musical A Million Dollar Quartet, which
- 56:29Speaker 2: is like Johnny Cash, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins.
- 56:35Speaker 2: It's a true story. And we're going to play you.
- 56:37Speaker 2: This kid is playing Elvis. and the performance is just
- 56:42Speaker 2: off the charts. We're going to let you hear a
- 56:43Speaker 2: little bit of that a little bit later on. In
- 56:46Speaker 2: the meantime, there is a crazy story coming out of
- 56:52Speaker 2: Arizona to tell you about. Our good friends over at
- 56:56Speaker 2: First Liberty Institute, they're all over these kinds of stories,
- 57:01Speaker 2: and I want to go right away to the Patriot
- 57:03Speaker 2: Mobile Newsmaker line and say hello to Garrett Bell joining us.
- 57:08Speaker 2: Associate Counsel there at First Liberty Institute. Garrett, hope you're
- 57:12Speaker 2: doing well today.
- 57:13Speaker 18: Doing well, yes. Thank you for having me, Todd.
- 57:16Speaker 2: All right. Well, let's talk about what the heck is
- 57:18Speaker 2: going on down in Tucson, Arizona. You guys are representing
- 57:22Speaker 2: a local resident, and there is a big problem at
- 57:26Speaker 2: the annual Winter Haven Festival of Lights. Tell us about it.
- 57:33Speaker 18: That's right, and you got it totally right when you
- 57:35Speaker 18: said it's crazy stuff. Our client, David Hoffman, last December,
- 57:41Speaker 18: December 2025, motivated by his religious beliefs, attended the Winter
- 57:46Speaker 18: Haven Festival of Life in Tucson, Arizona, with the intentions
- 57:50Speaker 18: of sharing his faith through voluntary conversation. The festival is
- 57:56Speaker 18: held on city property. It's open to the public. They
- 57:59Speaker 18: don't charge for admission. Attendees can easily walk in, walk out.
- 58:05Speaker 18: They walk around and look at Christmas light displays, listen
- 58:08Speaker 18: to musical acts. Shoot, they can even hop on a
- 58:12Speaker 18: pedal pub, if you know what that is, like this
- 58:14Speaker 18: 15-foot pub on wheels where you pedal and you drink
- 58:19Speaker 18: and there's players' music. So you can talk about sports,
- 58:22Speaker 18: you can talk about politics, weather, but according to the
- 58:26Speaker 18: city's policy, you cannot talk about its faith. The city's
- 58:31Speaker 18: policy prohibits all political, religious, commercial materials or messaging in
- 58:36Speaker 18: the event, and it requires any of that speech to
- 58:39Speaker 18: be done in this small, confined, designated speech zone set
- 58:44Speaker 18: up outside of the festival perimeter.
- 58:48Speaker 2: So let me jump in here because I have a
- 58:51Speaker 2: couple of questions here. So basically he's a Christian evangelist
- 58:56Speaker 2: out there sharing his faith. One of these guys, and
- 58:59Speaker 2: I think this is important for our audience because I
- 59:01Speaker 2: think we've all seen these folks, and they get out
- 59:04Speaker 2: there with the huge signs that have pretty shocking and
- 59:08Speaker 2: graphic material. and they're wandering up and down, and they're
- 59:12Speaker 2: shouting and preaching with megaphones or whatever. Is that what
- 59:16Speaker 2: he was doing, or was this something else?
- 59:19Speaker 18: Yeah, that's what makes this really wild. This is not that.
- 59:24Speaker 18: This is not even amplified speech. This is David Hoffman saying,
- 59:30Speaker 18: handing out cards with a gospel message on them to
- 59:33Speaker 18: people who are willing to take them. They don't chase
- 59:35Speaker 18: people down. They just hold out a hand, and if
- 59:38Speaker 18: the person wants to take it, they can take it.
- 59:40Speaker 18: And then he's having conversations with those who are drawn in,
- 59:44Speaker 18: who take a card and want to talk about the gospel.
- 59:47Speaker 18: He's having that one-on-one conversation with them. And yet, even still,
- 59:51Speaker 18: for doing this, he is surrounded by officers, and he
- 59:55Speaker 18: is told under the threat of arrest that he has
- 59:58Speaker 18: to leave the event. In fact, at one point, Hoffman
- 1:00:02Speaker 18: asked the officers, what happens if someone comes up to
- 1:00:05Speaker 18: me and wants to know how can I become saved?
- 1:00:10Speaker 18: And guess what? The officer said, nope, can't respond to him.
- 1:00:13Speaker 18: If anything, you can say, well, if you want to
- 1:00:16Speaker 18: have that conversation, we've got to have it outside of
- 1:00:18Speaker 18: the perimeter.
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: This is really shocking. So you guys have been dealing
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: with this for decades. For quite some time now, and
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: I understand the lawsuit's been filed, have you heard at
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: all from the city of Tucson? Was this a simple mistake,
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: maybe a miscommunication, or are they standing by their decision?
- 1:00:40Speaker 18: From what we know, they're standing by their decision, right?
- 1:00:45Speaker 18: We sent a demand letter in December of 2025 as
- 1:00:49Speaker 18: it was happening during the festival, and we asked the
- 1:00:53Speaker 18: city to abide by the law and allow Hoffman, and
- 1:00:56Speaker 18: those that he was with to share their faith during
- 1:00:58Speaker 18: the festival. And to this day, the city has not responded.
- 1:01:03Speaker 18: So either they're not taking him seriously, they're not taking
- 1:01:08Speaker 18: us seriously, but I guarantee you now that there is
- 1:01:11Speaker 18: a lawsuit filed in federal court, they'll take it seriously. Well,
- 1:01:14Speaker 18: we hope so, at least.
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, this is just shocking. And you guys,
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: as part of the lawsuit, you've got the photographs of
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: the signs and everything. It's just kind of shocking that
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: you can't talk about Jesus at a festival that is, well,
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: technically about Jesus.
- 1:01:31Speaker 18: That's what makes this particularly absurd. I mean, really, no
- 1:01:36Speaker 18: matter what you believe, it's easy to see why this
- 1:01:38Speaker 18: is wrong. Everyone should hear about this, and something in
- 1:01:42Speaker 18: the back of their head says, yeah, that does not
- 1:01:44Speaker 18: seem right, no matter what they believe. But bigger than that,
- 1:01:47Speaker 18: it's unconstitutional, right? This is a public street festival on
- 1:01:52Speaker 18: the city streets of Tucson, Arizona. And constitutional law that
- 1:01:56Speaker 18: is considered a traditional public forum where the government has
- 1:02:00Speaker 18: the highest of burdens to regulate any kind of speech, right?
- 1:02:05Speaker 18: And a public street festival is just that. It's a
- 1:02:08Speaker 18: public space where citizens can visit and walk around and
- 1:02:11Speaker 18: converse with each other about different ideas. The government cannot
- 1:02:16Speaker 18: target religious ideas or religious conversations. And no American should
- 1:02:21Speaker 18: want the government to dictate what messages are okay and
- 1:02:25Speaker 18: which ones are out of bounds. And, yeah, like you said,
- 1:02:28Speaker 18: the fact that this is censoring a Christian message during
- 1:02:32Speaker 18: what is a Christmas event, I mean, that's particularly malicious
- 1:02:37Speaker 18: in my mind.
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: Well, Garrett, I have no doubt you guys will do
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: well with this one. Again, folks, if you'd like information,
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: more information on the lawsuit, go to firstliberty.org. That's firstliberty.org.
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: and you'll be able to get that intel. Garrett, I
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: know you're a busy man. You've got to step off here,
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: and we do appreciate you taking a few minutes to
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: talk about the case. This is all breaking news, so
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: thank you again.
- 1:03:01Speaker 18: Yes, thank you for hosting me and for listening.
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: All right. Garrett Bell, everybody, from First Liberty Institute. No, look,
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: it sounds to me like this is a fairly innocuous
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: situation where a guy's just standing there and has maybe
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: a gospel track or something of that nature, and not
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: causing anybody any offense, not causing any sort of chaos.
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: I don't know if you've ever seen this, Dylan, but
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: there are these guys, and they are street evangelists, and
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: they walk around a lot. They usually go to the festivals,
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: and they have these massive, tall signs that they hold,
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: and they sort of parade up and down with the banners,
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: and many of them are very graphic. I mean, you'll
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: see like abortion stuff and I'll never, there are two instances.
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: One was at the, the world barbecue championship. And I'm like,
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: why are the Christians? I didn't understand that. Why are
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: the Christians boycotting the world barbecue championship? I didn't get
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: that one.
- 1:04:06Speaker 4: Maybe they were vegan.
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: I don't think so. Well, uh, Unless they eat a
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: lot of starchy potatoes.
- 1:04:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: A couple of these were big old boys.
- 1:04:14Speaker 4: I saw them. They came to my college one time.
- 1:04:16Speaker 4: I didn't know whether to go up to them or what.
- 1:04:19Speaker 4: It felt weird.
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: Well, the thing is that even if you're a Christian,
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: if you don't follow the way they believe you ought
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: to be living your life, you're not a Christian.
- 1:04:27Speaker 4: Yeah, it's pretty intense.
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: Yeah, it's very– it's kind of– yeah. So the other–
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: so I'm just– I'm like– I'm thinking to myself, are
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: you guys really that effective in winning people over to
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: the gospel by screaming at them as they're trying to
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: eat a pulled pork sandwich?
- 1:04:46Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 1:04:48Speaker 4: I haven't seen that work, but you know, maybe it works.
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: I don't know. You know, a lot of people like
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: to handle this. Oh, the snakes. Did you hear what happened?
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: Hold on.
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: Speaking of this, put a pen in this for just
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: a moment.
- 1:04:59Speaker 16: No, no.
- 1:04:59Speaker 14: All right.
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: I've got to finish my thought. Remind me of the snake.
- 1:05:03Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: All right. Because I've got a story. So, so then
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: years ago, I was assigned to cover Pope Benedict when
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: he came to America for his American tour. And back
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: at Fox, uh, In those days, actually, I think it's
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: still this way. They don't know anything about religion, so
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: they knew that I was a religious guy. So they said, well,
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: Stearns can cover the Catholics. Well, Stearns is a Baptist.
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: What do I know about the Catholics? So, man, I
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: had to do all this research on the Pope and
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: all that kind of stuff. So anyway, we're traveling all
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: over America with the Pope. Get to Yankee Stadium. is
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: the old Yankee Stadium, and they were going to have
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: a mass at Yankee Stadium. And so I had to
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: be up in the press box to cover this. I'm
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: kind of like doing play-by-play of the mass as it's happening.
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: To get inside the stadium, I'll never forget this. The
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: guys with the big banners showed up, and they had
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: these Catholic schoolgirls. These girls may have been, I don't know,
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: fourth grade, fifth grade. They were young kids, right? They're
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: young kids, and they're there to see the Pope. These guys,
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: these grown men with the big banners, were like screaming,
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: screaming at these children, telling them they were going to
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: hell because they're Catholic. And I'm just like, it really was,
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: I was taken aback by it. Because these girls were crying,
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: you know, they were looking for their parents, and it
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: was just really an ugly scene. And I keep, again,
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: I go back to the question that, Are you really
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: convincing people to follow the teachings of Christ? And is
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: that part of the whole thing here? Are you actually
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: representing Christ? You're an ambassador for Christ. Are you an
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: ambassador for Christ when you're screaming at little girls and
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: making them cry and want their mommies? It's just disgusting.
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: Just disgusting.
- 1:07:04Speaker 11: 901-260-5926.
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: That's 901. 260-5926. Dylan, you forgot to remind me about
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: the snake story.
- 1:07:15Speaker 4: Snake.
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: Thank you. So there was a video that is circulating
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: from Georgia, of all places, and there was this little
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: church there. And something got loose in the church, and
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: I immediately thought the way the video was going, because
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: they had like all these towels and blankets, and they
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: were trying to capture whatever it was that escaped. And
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: I thought, good Lord, it's a snake handling church. And
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: that kind of stuff scares the living daylights out of me.
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: Because years ago, one of my very first assignments as
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: a young reporter was Somebody got bit at one of
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: these snake-handling churches, and so they sent the paramedics in,
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: and the church members would not put away the snakes. And,
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: you know, the way it works, and I'm just going
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: to— I' m not mocking the religion here, and I don't mean
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: to oversimplify, but the gist of it is, if you
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: have enough faith, you're not going to get bit by
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: the snake. But my contention is you've got a whole
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: lot of stupid if you're handling a snake. So anyway,
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: somebody got bit, and I mean, they were on the ground,
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: but they were still having the worship service, and the
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: paramedics at the time refused to go inside that building
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: because there were snakes all over the place. So what
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: they did, Dylan, somebody had a rope, and they basically lassoed.
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: I'm trying to remember how it all played out. This
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: is like 35 years ago. They lassoed the guy's feet,
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: and they were able to pull the victim out of
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: the church. It was a tiny wooden church, a clapboard church,
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: and they saved the guy.
- 1:09:00Speaker 11: Life.
- 1:09:00Speaker 4: That's a rescue mission right there if I've heard of one.
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: Wow. Nobody was going in.
- 1:09:05Speaker 4: Don't blame me. Just lasso him out.
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: That's it. I mean, you got to do what you
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: got to do.
- 1:09:09Speaker 5: Yeah, seriously.
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: So anyway, that's what I thought was going on here
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: with this Baptist church. I think it's called Eastside Baptist
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: Church in Georgia. So then you know what it turned
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: out to be? A squirrel.
- 1:09:20Speaker 11: No way.
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: A squirrel. The squirrel went berserk in the church in Georgia.
- 1:09:28Speaker 15: Wow.
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: It really happened. Now, I don't know what happened. I
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: don't know if they had a sister Bertha better than you,
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: but I'm just telling you that squirrel went berserk in
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: the first self-righteous church, and it wasn't down in the
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: sleepy little town of Pascagoula. It was in Georgia. It's
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: a great video. But that squirrel was getting on out
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: of there. I'm just telling you. All right, we've got
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: to take a break. 901-260-5926. This is the Todd Stern Show.
- 1:10:00Speaker 12: The day the squirrel went berserk in the first self-righteous
- 1:10:04Speaker 12: church in.
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: A sleepy little town of Pascagoula, it was a fight
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: for survival that broke out in revival. Jumping pews and
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: shouting hallelujah. Come on now. Hallelujah. Some thought he had religion.
- 1:10:22Speaker 4: Others thought he had a demon.
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: And Harb thought he had.
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: A weed eater loose in his fruit of the loon. Uh-oh.
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: He fell to his knees to plead and beg.
- 1:10:30Speaker 13: And that squirrel ran out of his bridge's leg unobserved
- 1:10:33Speaker 13: to the other side of the room.
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: All right, come on, America.
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: Oh, there she is.
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: You can't miss her.
- 1:10:39Speaker 14: All right.
- 1:10:39Speaker 5: I could listen to that song all day.
- 1:10:41Speaker 6: Long, Dylan.
- 1:11:00Speaker 4: Hey, dude, this song actually got me into that genre
- 1:11:02Speaker 4: of music, actually.
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: All right, I have a correction. It's the East Georgia
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: Road Baptist Church, but it's in South Carolina.
- 1:11:10Speaker 4: Oh, it's still close.
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: We had a lady call in. She said that Ray
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: Stevens is from Georgia.
- 1:11:16Speaker 4: She did, which I thought was really funny.
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: I had no idea. Well, thank you for that little nugget,
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: Miss Sherry. Okay, so the voice you're about to hear.
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: And this is what gets me. So it's called the
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: Million Dollar Quartet. Theater Memphis is putting this on. If
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: you're anywhere near Memphis, you need to get tickets to
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: see this show, which opens up this weekend. The guy
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: playing Elvis plays his own guitar. And Dylan, he's, what,
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: 16 years old?
- 1:11:43Speaker 4: Yeah, he's in high school.
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: High school.
- 1:11:45Speaker 4: It's crazy. He's very good.
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: And so we asked him to play a little bit.
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: And so here's the kid singing a great old Elvis song.
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: Many of you are going to recognize it. Let's take
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: a listen here.
- 1:12:02Speaker 15: Well, that's all.
- 1:12:03Speaker 11: Right, Mama.
- 1:12:05Speaker 15: That's all right for you. That's all right, Mama, just
- 1:12:10Speaker 15: any way you do. Now that's all right.
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: Well, that's all right.
- 1:12:16Speaker 15: That's all right now, Mama, any way you do.
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: Well, Mama, she done told me.
- 1:12:25Speaker 15: Papa done told me too.
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: Son, that gal, you.
- 1:12:28Speaker 15: Foolin' with, she ain't no good for you. But that's
- 1:12:32Speaker 15: all right. Well, that's all right. That's all right now, Mama,
- 1:12:39Speaker 15: any way you do. Well, one and one is two.
- 1:12:45Speaker 15: Two and two is four. I love that woman, but
- 1:12:50Speaker 15: I got to let her go. Now that's all right.
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: Well, that's all right.
- 1:12:56Speaker 15: That's all right now, mama, any way you do.
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: All right. The young man named Russell Lindeman, and he's
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: starring as Elvis, 16-year-old kid, playing his own guitar. We
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: had him in the studio playing the guitar, and Dylan,
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: you mixed the music right there on the spot in
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: real time.
- 1:13:18Speaker 4: Yeah, I did. That's a true story. That's what happened.
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: Just, but it's really amazing. And what I love, it's
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: not some sort of an impression. You just kind of
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: have your own spin on an Elvis song.
- 1:13:29Speaker 4: You can hear it when he sings too. You know
- 1:13:31Speaker 4: that like part of it was his, and then the
- 1:13:34Speaker 4: other part he actually added, you know, you can hear it.
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:13:38Speaker 4: It's super cool.
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: It's going to be a great, we're going to go
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: to the show and see it. So it's going to
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: be a lot of fun. But again, we love highlighting
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: and celebrating young people across America who are doing good things.
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: in the country, and that's a good kid right there.
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: So you'll be seeing him. You'll be seeing him in
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: the movies. I have no doubt about that. All right,
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: coming up, we're going to take you into our C-SPAN interview.
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: Had a great time. Also, if you see any squirrels
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: or anything else running around your church, give us a call.
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: We want to hear about that. Hang tight, everybody. Hour
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: 3 of The Big Show coming up. We'll be right back.
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: From Memphis, Tennessee. On the banks of the mighty Mississippi.
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: It's America's conservative blowtorch.
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: That's us. That's right.
- 1:14:46Speaker 11: Our love is American.
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: Well, you're welcome, America. I told you, you know, we
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: know how to do a lot of things on this
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: radio program. We talk politics. We talk culture. We talk sports.
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: And we talk about food. And I will never steer
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: you wrong when it comes to good eating and food.
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: I just got a message from one of our listeners, Brian,
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: from Memphis, and says, Todd, just heard you talk about Pesci's,
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: and I happen to be right there and have been
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: wanting to try. Oh, my goodness. The meat paisan sandwich
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: is incredible. I may have a new addiction. And I said,
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: wait till you try the meat sauce. You could put
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: their meat sauce on a flip-flop, and it would be delicious.
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: I'm just telling you. So anyway, Brian, thank you. And folks,
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: go over and tell Daniel, the owner. It's a family-owned restaurant.
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: Be sure to tell Daniel that Todd Stern says hello.
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: I'm heading over there immediately after the show, Dylan. That's
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: what's for supper.
- 1:15:56Speaker 4: Yeah, they're rigatoni pasta and meatballs. I don't know if
- 1:15:59Speaker 4: you can beat that at all.
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: It's all homemade. And again, you know, the meatballs are
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: so delicious. And the reason why, not only are they
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: made with love, but they're made with my voice in
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: the background, right? So they're molding and shaping the meatballs
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: as I'm talking.
- 1:16:15Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: I'm taking credit.
- 1:16:17Speaker 4: You know what? That kind of gives me a different
- 1:16:19Speaker 4: perspective that I don't know if I want when I
- 1:16:21Speaker 4: eat the meatballs.
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: Okay, I take all that back. It sounded a lot
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: better before it came out.
- 1:16:27Speaker 4: You should say Todd Stearns inspired.
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: Oh, that's it.
- 1:16:30Speaker 4: That's it.
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: Inspired meatballs. I love it. By the way, I want
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: to congratulate one of our alumni, and we're so proud
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: of our alums. First of all, Grace Baker wrote a novel.
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: She's like a big fantasy novel person. She wrote her
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: very first novel, working to get it published. Congratulations, Grace.
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: And then Ben Dieter ran the U.S. Army's 10-miler yesterday
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: and did very well. He finished the race.
- 1:17:02Speaker 4: That's all you can say.
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: That's what he wanted me to say. I mean, it's
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: like tens of thousands of people. Not tens of thousands.
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: I think 10,000, 15,000 people. He came in like 50.
- 1:17:12Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: Number 50.
- 1:17:13Speaker 4: I'm not surprised. That dude is so fast and he
- 1:17:15Speaker 4: can run.
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: And Dieter is one of these guys that like will just,
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: you know what? He wakes up in the morning. Ah,
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: you know me, I want a cup of coffee. And
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: I'm like, he goes, ah, and he says, I'm going
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: to run 10 miles today.
- 1:17:32Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:17:32Speaker 4: Psychopath.
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: I can barely walk to the kitchen.
- 1:17:35Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:17:37Speaker 4: Good on him.
- 1:17:38Speaker 5: Anyway.
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: Good for you, Dieter. We're proud of you. And he's
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: just a great, great, great kid.
- 1:17:43Speaker 14: All right.
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: A little 28-year-old kid, but, you know, kid is relative. So, look,
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: yesterday we had a great time with C-SPAN. And they
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: filmed an interview that was conducted at Lancaster Baptist Church
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: during the Spiritual Leadership Conference about my new book, The
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: Golden Age, How Trump Saved America.
- 1:18:06Speaker 14: Dr.
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: Paul Chappell, the pastor of the church, conducted the interview,
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: and we're going to take you guys through that. And
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: here's a little bit of that conversation from Lancaster Baptist
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: Church in California.
- 1:18:22Speaker 12: Well, Todd, do you have any fear being out here
- 1:18:24Speaker 12: in California talking about this subject?
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: I'm just glad you guys let me across the border.
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: That was, you know, coming over from Tennessee. You know,
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: I love California, and it's a beautiful state, and the
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: people here are just absolutely wonderful. The politics, eh, not
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: so much. But you know what? I love coming out here,
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: and the Spiritual Leadership Conference for me, it's one of
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: those highlights of my year. to be able to come
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: and to have my batteries recharged, to get me out
- 1:18:54Speaker 2: of my comfort zone, and to also, I don't know
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: how you do it, but you always bring a message
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: that just punches me right in the face. So I
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: appreciate that.
- 1:19:02Speaker 12: I'm not aiming for the face, but at least I'm
- 1:19:05Speaker 12: keeping you awake. We're trying for the heart, you know,
- 1:19:07Speaker 12: but Thank God.
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: Sorry, that was my politics.
- 1:19:13Speaker 12: We're glad that the messages are having effect and certainly
- 1:19:17Speaker 12: have since God working in hearts. And Todd, I want
- 1:19:21Speaker 12: to thank you as we get started for just really
- 1:19:25Speaker 12: keeping us aware of the trends of the culture. It's
- 1:19:29Speaker 12: not that we're tailoring every message around some incident, but
- 1:19:34Speaker 12: there are times when our culture is and certain circumstances
- 1:19:39Speaker 12: and politicians are speaking against biblical values, not just values,
- 1:19:44Speaker 12: biblical verses and the positions that we take. And the
- 1:19:49Speaker 12: Bible commands us to contend for the faith. And it's
- 1:19:53Speaker 12: almost overwhelming the way that the battle seems to rage.
- 1:19:56Speaker 12: So thank you for keeping us aware and encouraged in
- 1:19:59Speaker 12: that battle.
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: Well, we try to do that, and I think those
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: stories are important. I believe that in my study of
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: American history that we were meant to be a Christian nation.
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: That's what our founding fathers intended. And so it's that
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: foundation that we really do all of our work, all
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: of our journalism, and now our commentary as we really
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: just let people know what's going on in their country.
- 1:20:24Speaker 12: Well, it's so necessary, and it's a help, and I
- 1:20:28Speaker 12: believe you're a role model to other young journalists and
- 1:20:31Speaker 12: folks that are just beginning to use media to promote
- 1:20:35Speaker 12: the gospel message.
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: I was one of those odd ducks, Pastor. I knew
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: what I wanted to do when I was just a
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: little kid. And my dad, I guess I was 12
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: or 13, and my dad had a little electrical company,
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: and I had to go out and work with him
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: that summer. The very first, I'll never forget this, the
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: very first job was repairing a neon sign at Popeye's
- 1:20:55Speaker 2: Fried Chicken and Biscuits. And my job was to turn
- 1:20:59Speaker 2: off the circuit breaker, which had apparently already been turned off,
- 1:21:04Speaker 2: so I turned it back on. And I heard my
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: dad yelling like a Methodist, and there was dad sprawled out,
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: and he said, son, you're fired. And Got me my
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: second job, which was sweeping the floors at our local newspaper.
- 1:21:22Speaker 2: And that's how I got to really my first job
- 1:21:25Speaker 2: in the newspaper business was sweeping the floors and taking
- 1:21:29Speaker 2: out the trash at that little weekly newspaper in Louisiana.
- 1:21:32Speaker 12: Well, I know you've worked in media up in the
- 1:21:34Speaker 12: Northern California area. And I'm starting to remember sitting here
- 1:21:37Speaker 12: if that was television or radio at that time.
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: It was radio, and that's when Arnold Schwarzenegger was governor.
- 1:21:43Speaker 2: And I was at the Capitol just about every day
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: working at the great KFBK in Sacramento, which is where
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: Rush Limbaugh got his start.
- 1:21:52Speaker 5: That's right.
- 1:21:53Speaker 12: And so you've done so much in media, but you
- 1:21:56Speaker 12: also do a lot in journalism. You have hundreds of
- 1:21:59Speaker 12: thousands of followers on your social media channels.
- 1:22:02Speaker 5: And so I was just.
- 1:22:03Speaker 12: Curious, which one do you lean into the most? Whether
- 1:22:08Speaker 12: it's the radio side, the TV side, or the journalism side?
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: So I love broadcasting, and I love radio. It's just
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: this great medium where... I know everybody likes to do
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: podcasting and all that, but with radio, you have a conversation,
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: and it's very relational. I love it when our callers
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: will phone in and listeners phone in, and we have
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: those conversations on the radio. But for me, I guess
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: if you asked me years ago, little Todd, where do
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: you see yourself 30 years from now? I would have
- 1:22:41Speaker 2: been owning a small-town newspaper somewhere in the south, I
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: never imagined going to New York City or working for
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: a network. None of that was on the radar at all.
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: That was really my jam was just being that Mayberry
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: kind of news editor. And my aunt and uncle, my
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: aunt was an English teacher, and I write about Aunt
- 1:23:02Speaker 2: Lynn and Uncle Jerry. A lot of people ask me
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: if they're real people, and they really are real people.
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: And they let me use them as comic foils in
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: a lot of my books. Aunt Lim was an English teacher,
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: and she loved Irma Bombeck. And whenever they would come
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: to visit, she would leave me these books. I was
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: just an avid reader, and I was the only kid
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: in junior high school that actually read Irma Bombeck. And
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: then I started reading other books by guys like Louis Grisard,
- 1:23:30Speaker 2: who was a great Southern humorist. and a great author
- 1:23:33Speaker 2: in his own right, Art Buchwald and Molly Ivins. And
- 1:23:37Speaker 2: a lot of people are surprised to know that I
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: enjoyed reading those books by liberal commentators. But I really
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: loved the way they would craft a story. They would
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: poke fun. And on the conservative side, there really weren't
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: a lot of people doing that. So I wanted to
- 1:23:52Speaker 2: try to be that sort of humorist, a Southern humorist
- 1:23:55Speaker 2: that poked fun from the conservative side of the aisle.
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: And we've had a lot of fun with it. Unfortunately,
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: I discovered that liberals really don't have that much of
- 1:24:03Speaker 2: a sense of humor. So it is what it is.
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:24:07Speaker 12: Well, I enjoy your broadcast and your writing because you
- 1:24:10Speaker 12: do interject humor along the way. And if we can't
- 1:24:14Speaker 12: laugh at ourselves. And in certain situations, we're not going
- 1:24:18Speaker 12: to have much joy or much fun. I do hear
- 1:24:20Speaker 12: from your staff that when the writing season is in,
- 1:24:24Speaker 12: that the publishers are having to push you a little
- 1:24:27Speaker 12: bit because you apparently procrastinate on the writing side.
- 1:24:31Speaker 5: And I'm wondering, do you work better under pressure?
- 1:24:33Speaker 2: Oh, I do. It's terrible. As a matter of fact,
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: my publisher creates fake deadlines knowing that I'm going to
- 1:24:40Speaker 2: miss those deadlines. So that's how bad it is. And
- 1:24:44Speaker 2: so I own that. But, you know, it's interesting. I'm
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: one of these odd ducks. I have to have a
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: lot of noise around me when I write, so I
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: can't write in silence, which is why even here at
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: West Coast Baptist College, my favorite spot is the Great
- 1:24:57Speaker 2: Awakenings coffee shop. Great coffee. But also, it's just a
- 1:25:01Speaker 2: great writing environment. And so I'm always looking for those.
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: If there's a coffee shop in town, I'm usually there
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: writing something.
- 1:25:07Speaker 5: Okay. Well, I guess the coffee helps you meet the deadlines.
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: I can have a conversation with the staff when I
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: get back to Memphis faster.
- 1:25:13Speaker 12: Yeah, they gave me that. They said, ask this question.
- 1:25:17Speaker 12: They want me to help you with that. So let's
- 1:25:19Speaker 12: talk about The Golden Age. And I remember when you
- 1:25:23Speaker 12: first talked with me about the book, And I was
- 1:25:26Speaker 12: excited to hear some of the themes we'll talk about today.
- 1:25:30Speaker 12: When you got the subtitle, I was like, hmm. And
- 1:25:34Speaker 12: so the subtitle says, How Trump Saved America. And I
- 1:25:38Speaker 12: know that just immediately like is a polarizing subtitle.
- 1:25:43Speaker 5: I think we could.
- 1:25:45Speaker 12: probably find a lot of agreement on the fact that
- 1:25:48Speaker 12: he has done things to stem the tide of some
- 1:25:52Speaker 12: very troublesome things in the nation. I think we also
- 1:25:54Speaker 12: would have to agree our nation still has a lot
- 1:25:56Speaker 12: of problems. So explain that subtitle to us, okay?
- 1:25:59Speaker 2: Well, they suggested an earlier title for the book, The
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: Gospel According to Donald J. Trump. And I said, I'll
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: be excommunicated from the Baptist church. I said, not doing
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: that book.
- 1:26:10Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:26:13Speaker 2: I was like, I'll Jesse Waters. He'll handle that one. No,
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: it is sort of people take a step back when
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: they see that. And one of the challenges I think
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: in America is we do not have long-term memory. So
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: people forgot just how bad it was in the last presidency,
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: the auto-penn presidency of Joe Biden. And when you go
- 1:26:36Speaker 2: back and look at what was happening, and especially people
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: of faith, The FBI was cracking down on Catholics who
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: practiced the Latin Mass in the Richmond, Virginia area. They
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: were actually trying to get priests to spy on their parishioners.
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: Then you had evangelicals who were being arrested for praying
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: right outside of abortion clinics. A sweet grandmother was sentenced
- 1:27:03Speaker 2: to time in federal prison because she prayed and sang
- 1:27:07Speaker 2: hymns outside an abortion clinic. And the list goes on
- 1:27:10Speaker 2: and on and on. Conservatives were coming under attack outside
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: of the church. And it was really and truly a
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: dark time in America. We all remember the infamous speech
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: that Biden gave outside of Independence Hall in Philadelphia with
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: the blood red lights. And you thought, oh my goodness,
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: this is some sort of a dystopian society. So I
- 1:27:33Speaker 2: wanted to set about to write a book that said, okay,
- 1:27:36Speaker 2: here's where we were and here's where we are now.
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: A lot of people said that President Trump did not
- 1:27:44Speaker 2: deliver on his promises, and so that's what I did.
- 1:27:48Speaker 2: I said, okay, here are the promises he made, and
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: did he keep those promises?
- 1:27:53Speaker 12: Well, and he certainly has taken a stand, for example,
- 1:27:56Speaker 12: on not having men in women's sports. Some of these basic,
- 1:28:02Speaker 12: not only biblical, just common sense issues that he has
- 1:28:06Speaker 12: spoken into and said, And around here, it's going to
- 1:28:10Speaker 12: be male and female and so forth. He's put some
- 1:28:13Speaker 12: people in good places of leadership who share those positions.
- 1:28:17Speaker 2: There is a chapter in my book called How Trump
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: Saved Common Sense. And again, just very simple things that
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: this president did that he really doesn't get a lot
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: of credit for. But we cover a lot of those
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: issues in the book. But going back to the question,
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: how Trump saved America, I truly believe we were on
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: the verge of a complete socialist takeover. And had Kamala
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: Harris been elected? president– ooh, I just puckered on that one–
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: Had Kamala Harris been elected president, I really believe we
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: would have gone over that socialist cliff. So President Trump
- 1:28:51Speaker 2: comes in, he gets elected, and he slams the brakes
- 1:28:54Speaker 2: and prevents the bus from going over the edge of
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: the cliff. That being said, and this really is the
- 1:29:01Speaker 2: warning in the book, is that we can get lost again.
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: And if you look at the book cover, and I
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: think our designer, Joseph Huntley, did a wonderful job conveying
- 1:29:12Speaker 2: the roaring 20s the Great Gatsby. It was an incredible time,
- 1:29:16Speaker 2: an incredible decade in American life. But after the roaring
- 1:29:20Speaker 2: 20s came the Great Depression. So I think my book
- 1:29:23Speaker 2: is also a cautionary tale that, yes, we as a
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: people have a responsibility to make sure that we maintain
- 1:29:32Speaker 2: this golden age.
- 1:29:33Speaker 12: Well, it's interesting because there have been a lot of
- 1:29:37Speaker 12: promises made.
- 1:29:38Speaker 5: That's what politicians do.
- 1:29:40Speaker 12: And they probably know as they're making them, they can't
- 1:29:43Speaker 12: keep everyone without Congress helping along the way.
- 1:29:47Speaker 5: And certainly there have been some strides made.
- 1:29:50Speaker 12: It's been very emotional in the nation with respect to
- 1:29:54Speaker 12: the immigration issue. But I honestly believe that to educate, medicate,
- 1:29:59Speaker 12: and incarcerate the world's population was beginning to tax our country.
- 1:30:05Speaker 12: And I think he pumped the brakes on that as well.
- 1:30:08Speaker 12: I think, in other words, he's trying to keep his promises,
- 1:30:12Speaker 12: I do think we need to pray for him. No
- 1:30:14Speaker 12: one can know someone's heart or where their faith really rests.
- 1:30:18Speaker 12: But on the issues pertaining to family or abortion and
- 1:30:23Speaker 12: standing for those things as a pastor, I know that
- 1:30:26Speaker 12: I'm appreciative of what he's said.
- 1:30:30Speaker 5: And a lot of what he's done.
- 1:30:32Speaker 2: I think when you look at it, I've got a
- 1:30:34Speaker 2: chapter in the book called The Faith of Donald J. Trump.
- 1:30:38Speaker 2: And I think when you look at President Trump, you
- 1:30:42Speaker 2: also have to look at his family. And here's a
- 1:30:45Speaker 2: man who deeply loves his family, his children and his grandchildren.
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: And look at how they're turning out. I mean, these
- 1:30:53Speaker 2: are very well productive, put together members of society. They're
- 1:30:57Speaker 2: not out burning down buildings in Minnesota. They are good,
- 1:31:02Speaker 2: solid kids. And so you have to wonder, whatever was
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: going on at Mar-a-Lago or at Trump Tower, This is
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: a man who made sure that his kids were raised right.
- 1:31:12Speaker 2: And I truly respect that. And we need fathers that
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: are that involved in the raising of their kids. All right.
- 1:31:24Speaker 2: Welcome back, everybody. More of my C-SPAN book special coming up.

- 1:32:37Speaker 5: Dr.
- 1:32:37Speaker 2: Paul Chappell interviewing me at West Coast Baptist College. Hang tight.
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: This is the Todd Stearns Radio Show. All right, welcome back.
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: This is the Todd Stearns Radio Show. I was feeling generous.
- 1:33:07Speaker 2: We said one winner, but we've actually got two. First,
- 1:33:11Speaker 2: let's go to Shirley in Oak Crest, Georgia. Hi, Shirley.
- 1:33:15Speaker 2: How are you today? I'm fine.
- 1:33:18Speaker 9: How are you, Todd?
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: Shirley, I'm doing well. Thank you for asking, and congratulations, Shirley,
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: because you've just won a copy of my new book,
- 1:33:26Speaker 2: The Golden Age.
- 1:33:28Speaker 10: I'm excited.
- 1:33:29Speaker 3: I'm excited.
- 1:33:30Speaker 2: Shirley, I can't wait for you to read this book.
- 1:33:32Speaker 2: It is so much fun, and there are some wonderful stories.
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: I think you'll have a great time reading it.
- 1:33:40Speaker 18: I'm looking forward to it.
- 1:33:41Speaker 2: My husband reads a lot, and he loves Trump.
- 1:33:45Speaker 3: He will love it.
- 1:33:46Speaker 2: Oh, and you're going to love the book cover. It's
- 1:33:49Speaker 2: almost suitable for framing, so you'll see what I'm talking
- 1:33:54Speaker 2: about when you get your copy. But congratulations, Shirley, and
- 1:33:58Speaker 2: we're going to put you on hold and make sure
- 1:34:00Speaker 2: we've got all of your information. And now let's go
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: to Leon in Gainesville, Georgia. And, Leon, you are a winner, too.
- 1:34:07Speaker 17: Thank you, sir.
- 1:34:09Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:34:09Speaker 3: My lucky day.
- 1:34:10Speaker 2: Well, I hope so. Leon, we sure do appreciate you
- 1:34:14Speaker 2: listening to WTUN. They're good people over there.
- 1:34:18Speaker 17: Absolutely.
- 1:34:19Speaker 8: They sure are.
- 1:34:20Speaker 14: It's a great station. We enjoy listening to your show.
- 1:34:23Speaker 18: This country needs all the wisdom it can get.
- 1:34:26Speaker 2: Amen to that, Leon. Amen to that. Well, hang tight.
- 1:34:29Speaker 2: We're going to get all of your information, and we'll
- 1:34:31Speaker 2: be sending you a copy of The Golden Age in
- 1:34:34Speaker 2: the mail, so hang tight. All right, let's get back
- 1:34:38Speaker 2: to our interview from C-SPAN, our long-form interview and conversation
- 1:34:44Speaker 2: on The Golden Age. Let's take a listen.
- 1:34:46Speaker 12: You know, you've had some pretty good access, I'd say
- 1:34:50Speaker 12: better than the average journalist to the president, both.
- 1:34:52Speaker 5: At the White House and at Mar-a-Lago.
- 1:34:55Speaker 12: And if you would just talk about some of those experiences,
- 1:34:58Speaker 12: whatever comes to your mind, I'm curious to know, just
- 1:35:01Speaker 12: sort of not necessarily the decorum, the official nature of that,
- 1:35:05Speaker 12: but the response, the spontaneity of the president in those moments.
- 1:35:10Speaker 2: Many years ago, I was working at Fox News and
- 1:35:13Speaker 2: I had written a column about how children were not
- 1:35:17Speaker 2: being raised in the home. And The headline of the
- 1:35:21Speaker 2: story at Fox News was, We're Raising a Nation of Savages.
- 1:35:25Speaker 2: And I got a call one day at my office
- 1:35:28Speaker 2: at Fox News headquarters there in midtown Manhattan, and it
- 1:35:33Speaker 2: was Donald Trump's secretary. He was not running for president then.
- 1:35:36Speaker 2: He was just Donald Trump, the apprentice, that Donald Trump.
- 1:35:41Speaker 2: And she said that he had read my column and
- 1:35:43Speaker 2: really enjoyed it. and wanted to send over a note.
- 1:35:47Speaker 2: And so I said, sure. I was really surprised. I
- 1:35:50Speaker 2: had not met him at that point. And so they
- 1:35:53Speaker 2: sent over this. The next day, a courier came, and
- 1:35:56Speaker 2: there was my column. He had printed it out, and
- 1:35:58Speaker 2: he had autographed it and wrote a little note and
- 1:36:01Speaker 2: put his gold nameplate and said, you know, you might
- 1:36:04Speaker 2: want to have this framed. So, of course, if you
- 1:36:06Speaker 2: come to my office, it's right there. It's framed right
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: there in my office. And then when he ran for president–
- 1:36:15Speaker 2: I got to know him a little bit more. I
- 1:36:17Speaker 2: was working on a book, and I asked him if
- 1:36:20Speaker 2: I could interview him there at Mar-a-Lago. And so they said, well,
- 1:36:26Speaker 2: I was talking to his team, and they said, we'll
- 1:36:28Speaker 2: give you 10 minutes. But you have to come to Mar-a-Lago. And,
- 1:36:31Speaker 2: of course, I'm in Memphis, Tennessee. So fly down to Mar-a-Lago.
- 1:36:35Speaker 2: And a lot of people say, what was it like
- 1:36:37Speaker 2: staying there? I say, I did not stay there. I
- 1:36:38Speaker 2: stayed at the Hampton Inn because you get the free breakfast.
- 1:36:41Speaker 2: And they don't do that at Mar-a-Lago. So I'm a
- 1:36:44Speaker 2: penny pincher. And so I went over there and just
- 1:36:47Speaker 2: had a wonderful time. And I was expecting 10 minutes.
- 1:36:52Speaker 2: And it turned into almost three hours of a conversation
- 1:36:56Speaker 2: in his office with And it was not one of
- 1:36:58Speaker 2: these where we're just having a casual conversation. It was
- 1:37:03Speaker 2: like you're in the Daytona 500, except you're on the
- 1:37:06Speaker 2: outside of the car holding onto the hood for dear life.
- 1:37:09Speaker 2: That's what it's like interviewing this guy, because he's always multitasking.
- 1:37:14Speaker 2: And that really caught my attention. But he would always
- 1:37:17Speaker 2: circle back to whatever point he was trying to make.
- 1:37:19Speaker 2: So it's really brilliant watching his mind work there in person.
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: But He's the real deal. And I want to say this,
- 1:37:27Speaker 2: and this is early on in the book. My one
- 1:37:30Speaker 2: big takeaway from that entire experience is it happened later.
- 1:37:37Speaker 2: And here's a guy that's a billionaire many times over,
- 1:37:41Speaker 2: and yet the average Joe, the regular Joe, somebody like
- 1:37:44Speaker 2: my dad, a working class guy, he connects with those people.
- 1:37:48Speaker 2: I couldn't figure it out until dinner on the beautiful portico.
- 1:37:53Speaker 2: And I described the entire evening. And they're on the menu.
- 1:37:56Speaker 2: You could order anything you wanted, caviar, whatever you wanted, oysters.
- 1:38:01Speaker 2: His mom's meatloaf is on the menu there. And he
- 1:38:05Speaker 2: loved his mom's meatloaf. And I thought, wow, here I
- 1:38:08Speaker 2: am at Mar-a-Lago, one of the wealthiest clubs in America,
- 1:38:11Speaker 2: and you can order Mrs. Trump's meatloaf right there. And
- 1:38:13Speaker 2: that told me everything I needed to know about Donald Trump.
- 1:38:16Speaker 2: It really is about family with him and those traditions.
- 1:38:19Speaker 2: And he loved his mom's meatloaf. I think we all
- 1:38:21Speaker 2: love our mom's meatloaf. And it was a really good meatloaf.
- 1:38:23Speaker 5: By the way.
- 1:38:25Speaker 12: Speaking of his mom, there's good historical evidence and testimonies.
- 1:38:30Speaker 12: to the fact that she had accepted Jesus Christ as
- 1:38:33Speaker 12: her Savior in Scotland. We know that there were great
- 1:38:37Speaker 12: revivals that swept through the New Hebrides and throughout Scotland
- 1:38:41Speaker 12: and Ireland. And I understand that he still has her
- 1:38:45Speaker 12: Bible in And so, again, I don't know the president's faith,
- 1:38:49Speaker 12: but I sense that he had a praying mother. And
- 1:38:52Speaker 12: I think that there were some values that were passed
- 1:38:57Speaker 12: along there. And I would agree with you. He loves
- 1:38:59Speaker 12: his family. And apparently he still loves his mom's meatloaf.
- 1:39:03Speaker 2: I've got to tell you the story of the passage.
- 1:39:04Speaker 2: This is a great story. So after all this happened,
- 1:39:07Speaker 2: the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago, right? We all know the story.
- 1:39:12Speaker 2: So weeks later, I receive a telephone call. And it was,
- 1:39:16Speaker 2: I think it was Forbes magazine. That was a reporter.
- 1:39:19Speaker 2: And they said, we understand, we're working on a story.
- 1:39:21Speaker 2: We understand that you were at Mar-a-Lago. Did the president,
- 1:39:27Speaker 2: did the president give you any classified documents? And I'm like,
- 1:39:32Speaker 2: are you kidding me? So I said, so anyway, I
- 1:39:36Speaker 2: was working on the book and I said, well, the
- 1:39:38Speaker 2: president gave me a delicious glass of diet Coca-Cola and
- 1:39:43Speaker 2: a crystal glass. And it was refreshing. I said, as
- 1:39:47Speaker 2: for the classified documents, you'll have to read my book
- 1:39:50Speaker 2: to find out. Ha-ha, right?
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: Ha-ha.
- 1:39:53Speaker 2: So anyway, I'm relaying the story to my attorney, and
- 1:39:56Speaker 2: he said, you told the reporter what? Because about that time,
- 1:40:01Speaker 2: Mike Lindell had been out duck hunting. Remember, my fellow guy,
- 1:40:04Speaker 2: he was duck hunting, and he was at the Hardee's drive-thru.
- 1:40:07Speaker 2: My attorney's relaying the story. He was at the Hardee's
- 1:40:10Speaker 2: drive-thru and was surrounded by the FBI, and they confiscated
- 1:40:14Speaker 2: their phones, and he goes, Todd, are you listening? I said,
- 1:40:17Speaker 2: Mike Lindell was at Hardee's? I had no idea. It's
- 1:40:21Speaker 2: a good biscuit sandwich. What are you going to do?
- 1:40:23Speaker 2: But anyway, I was never raided by the FBI, and
- 1:40:26Speaker 2: he did not give me any classified documents.
- 1:40:29Speaker 12: That incident was one of the incidents that caused me
- 1:40:31Speaker 12: to step in and, in my spirit, be more supportive
- 1:40:34Speaker 12: of his campaign because when the FBI went to his
- 1:40:37Speaker 12: private residence for something that Joe Biden had a bunch
- 1:40:39Speaker 12: of boxes in his own garage, it's when I really
- 1:40:43Speaker 12: began to sense, if they hate this guy that much,
- 1:40:46Speaker 12: it's worth taking a look here and offering some support.
- 1:40:50Speaker 2: As I wrote in The Golden Age, there really is
- 1:40:53Speaker 2: a deep state, and they go after people. And it
- 1:40:57Speaker 2: would bother me if this was happening on the Republican
- 1:41:00Speaker 2: side of the aisle, because that's not what our government
- 1:41:02Speaker 2: is supposed to be doing. And if they are doing that,
- 1:41:05Speaker 2: then we need to have a very serious conversation about
- 1:41:08Speaker 2: that as a people, because the government is supposed to
- 1:41:11Speaker 2: be working for us, not putting us in some sort
- 1:41:13Speaker 2: of a surveillance state. Yeah.
- 1:41:15Speaker 12: You know, about two or three months ago, I was
- 1:41:18Speaker 12: having a meeting with our mayor, and we were talking
- 1:41:21Speaker 12: about crime. And we were talking about here in L.A.
- 1:41:24Speaker 12: County with the defund the police issue.
- 1:41:27Speaker 5: We're underserved. And he just said.
- 1:41:30Speaker 12: Something to the effect of, I'd like to have some
- 1:41:32Speaker 12: of these agents come and help us in our city.
- 1:41:35Speaker 12: And so through a mutual friend, we called Senator Lindsey Graham,
- 1:41:40Speaker 12: who was very close with the president, as you know,
- 1:41:42Speaker 12: And we were asking him to kind of put our
- 1:41:45Speaker 12: city maybe on the list. And, of course, Senator Graham
- 1:41:49Speaker 12: passed away. And that issue has kind of gone to
- 1:41:52Speaker 12: the side for us. But you kept it on the
- 1:41:54Speaker 12: forefront for Memphis. And I want you to tell folks
- 1:41:57Speaker 12: a little bit about that aspect of the president's response
- 1:42:00Speaker 12: to your request.
- 1:42:01Speaker 2: There's a chapter in the book, and I had a
- 1:42:03Speaker 2: lot of fun writing this one, called How Trump Saved
- 1:42:05Speaker 2: My Hometown. I was born and raised in Memphis. It's
- 1:42:08Speaker 2: a great town. And unfortunately, we are dealing with a
- 1:42:12Speaker 2: severe crime problem. We're the deadliest city in America. the
- 1:42:16Speaker 2: most violent city in America. And so the president was
- 1:42:19Speaker 2: on my radio show, and he comes on the show
- 1:42:21Speaker 2: quite a bit. And he was talking about how effective
- 1:42:26Speaker 2: the National Guard surge in Washington, D.C. had been. And
- 1:42:30Speaker 2: so I felt, I don't know, felt a little emboldened.
- 1:42:34Speaker 2: I'd already had my morning Dr.
- 1:42:36Speaker 14: Pepper.
- 1:42:36Speaker 2: And so I said, well, Mr. President, it's great that D.C.
- 1:42:39Speaker 2: is doing well. but Memphis is so much worse than Washington, D.C.
- 1:42:45Speaker 2: Would you consider sending the National Guard to Memphis? And
- 1:42:49Speaker 2: so he told me that he wasn't aware of that,
- 1:42:51Speaker 2: and we had some back and forth. The conversation goes on,
- 1:42:54Speaker 2: and we hit a few other topics. And at the
- 1:42:57Speaker 2: very end, as we were saying goodbye, he says, Todd,
- 1:43:01Speaker 2: I'm going to look into Memphis. So a couple of
- 1:43:03Speaker 2: weeks later, I got a phone call from the White House,
- 1:43:06Speaker 2: and they said, you know, the president would like for
- 1:43:07Speaker 2: you to be in the Oval Office. He's going to
- 1:43:09Speaker 2: make the announcement that he's sending a task force to Memphis, Tennessee.
- 1:43:14Speaker 2: And it was such an honor. I was not able
- 1:43:16Speaker 2: to be there for that event, but I flew up
- 1:43:19Speaker 2: for another event at the Oval Office. And Had a
- 1:43:22Speaker 2: chance to personally thank the president. And there's actually a
- 1:43:26Speaker 2: photograph of the moment in the book. And I have
- 1:43:28Speaker 2: to tell you, it was quite an honor to be
- 1:43:31Speaker 2: able to walk into that building. All the years I
- 1:43:34Speaker 2: covered Obama, I never got to step foot into the
- 1:43:36Speaker 2: Oval Office. I don't know why. But it was really
- 1:43:40Speaker 2: an honor. And crime in Memphis, we just had our
- 1:43:45Speaker 2: one-year anniversary. Crime is down over 40 percent, violent crime
- 1:43:50Speaker 2: in Memphis. as a result of what the president did.
- 1:43:53Speaker 2: And I think people are just so grateful that the
- 1:43:56Speaker 2: president cared enough to send them help.
- 1:43:59Speaker 12: I think that folks that are in beleaguered cities like
- 1:44:02Speaker 12: that appreciate the help. And I know that it's making
- 1:44:06Speaker 12: a difference in various cities. And when you think about
- 1:44:09Speaker 12: the issues in the inner cities, you think about the
- 1:44:11Speaker 12: root issue, which is sin. The Bible says, for all
- 1:44:15Speaker 12: have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
- 1:44:17Speaker 12: It doesn't matter if you live in the White House
- 1:44:19Speaker 12: or if you live in the inner city, Everybody needs
- 1:44:21Speaker 12: forgiveness and everybody needs a savior. And I remember telling
- 1:44:24Speaker 12: some friends during the campaign, we're not voting for a pastor.
- 1:44:27Speaker 12: We're voting for a president. It's not going to be
- 1:44:30Speaker 12: a perfect person. Pastors aren't perfect. Presidents aren't perfect. And
- 1:44:34Speaker 12: yet God has used different people throughout history to make
- 1:44:39Speaker 12: countries a better place to live. And I think that's
- 1:44:41Speaker 12: the point. that you're making here in the book. He's
- 1:44:44Speaker 12: a tool in that sense.
- 1:44:45Speaker 5: It is.
- 1:44:46Speaker 2: And he has been so effective, and especially with young
- 1:44:50Speaker 2: men in America. And I think the culture at large
- 1:44:53Speaker 2: has been so dismissive of young men, medicating generations of
- 1:44:58Speaker 2: boys simply for being boys, you know, and being rough
- 1:45:01Speaker 2: and tumble young men. And along comes President Trump, and
- 1:45:05Speaker 2: I think a lot of these guys truly admire the
- 1:45:08Speaker 2: president because, again, he's a man who is living the
- 1:45:12Speaker 2: American dream, and people see that, and they're drawn to that.
- 1:45:17Speaker 12: On that line, Todd, just putting politics aside here for
- 1:45:21Speaker 12: a moment, just looking at a person, number one, the
- 1:45:25Speaker 12: work ethic at age 80 to keep the schedule he keeps.
- 1:45:28Speaker 12: And he's doing that for our country. He's not taking
- 1:45:31Speaker 12: the salary. It actually amazes me. And then the second
- 1:45:35Speaker 12: thing that I observed, and we've all observed, were the
- 1:45:39Speaker 12: attempts to take his life. And a lot of men
- 1:45:42Speaker 12: would have completely changed their protocol. They would have, and
- 1:45:45Speaker 12: justifiably so, not been around people as much. And so
- 1:45:48Speaker 12: I see someone who's endeavoring to be present and who's
- 1:45:52Speaker 12: working diligently to represent our country.
- 1:45:56Speaker 2: Two men that their work ethic is insane. One of
- 1:45:59Speaker 2: them is President Trump and the other is Franklin Graham.
- 1:46:03Speaker 11: Yes.
- 1:46:03Speaker 2: And let me say, those two men have something in common.
- 1:46:06Speaker 2: They both love McDonald's. So I know there are a
- 1:46:10Speaker 2: lot of people that drink the liquefied lawn clippings and,
- 1:46:13Speaker 2: you know, they eat the healthy stuff. But, you know,
- 1:46:16Speaker 2: give me a fried apple pie and a Big Mac.
- 1:46:18Speaker 12: Well, I'll tell you what, the chocolate chip cookies this
- 1:46:21Speaker 12: week have not been bad either.
- 1:46:22Speaker 2: No, they have not. They have not.
- 1:46:24Speaker 5: But, Dr.
- 1:46:25Speaker 2: Chappell, on that issue, and I write about the assassination
- 1:46:29Speaker 2: attempts in the book, and also we take people back
- 1:46:32Speaker 2: to the day that Charlie Kirk was assassinated. It was
- 1:46:35Speaker 2: in the final hour of my radio show. We were
- 1:46:37Speaker 2: live on the air. I was interviewing Senator James Lankford
- 1:46:41Speaker 2: from Oklahoma when I interrupted our conversation to share the
- 1:46:45Speaker 2: news that something had happened. It was all happening in
- 1:46:49Speaker 2: real time, so we pulled the transcripts from the show
- 1:46:53Speaker 2: and turned that into a chapter in the book, just
- 1:46:56Speaker 2: again to take people back to that moment. It's a
- 1:47:00Speaker 2: disturbing time in America, and we'll talk about why it's
- 1:47:05Speaker 2: a disturbing time in just a moment, but when you
- 1:47:07Speaker 2: look back at the assassination of Charlie and the attempted
- 1:47:10Speaker 2: assassination of President Trump, the man changed after that assassination attempt.
- 1:47:16Speaker 2: Much like Ronald Reagan changed, and there have been books
- 1:47:19Speaker 2: written about this, but Reagan became a much more, I
- 1:47:24Speaker 2: think he was a thoughtful president after the assassination attempt,
- 1:47:29Speaker 2: and he became much more in tune with his faith.
- 1:47:31Speaker 2: And I think we've seen to some extent, we've seen
- 1:47:34Speaker 2: President Trump talking about that. And he's, you know, he's
- 1:47:37Speaker 2: sort of guarded about his faith, but every now and again,
- 1:47:39Speaker 2: he'll let slip, you know, that he's certainly thinking about
- 1:47:42Speaker 2: those things.
- 1:47:42Speaker 5: Well, the Bible says, what is our life? It's but
- 1:47:44Speaker 5: a vapor.
- 1:47:45Speaker 12: It appears for a little while and it vanishes away.
- 1:47:47Speaker 5: He saw his life flash before him.
- 1:47:50Speaker 12: And I truly believe those events can cause us to
- 1:47:53Speaker 12: be aware of our own mortality and hopefully our need
- 1:47:56Speaker 12: for the forgiveness of Christ for our sins and the
- 1:48:00Speaker 12: home in heaven that only Jesus Christ can provide.
- 1:48:03Speaker 5: And so we'll pray for that.
- 1:48:05Speaker 12: Well, I want to speak for a moment about some
- 1:48:08Speaker 12: things you talk about in the book, and that would
- 1:48:10Speaker 12: be some of the threats that we're facing. You mentioned socialism,
- 1:48:14Speaker 12: and to whatever extent President Trump has paused and pumped
- 1:48:18Speaker 12: the brakes on that, we see some mounting pressure right
- 1:48:23Speaker 12: now in our country towards that, which is in many
- 1:48:26Speaker 12: ways one step away from communism. And I'm sure that
- 1:48:30Speaker 12: that concerns you. But What are some other threats that
- 1:48:33Speaker 12: you are seeing on our country right now?
- 1:48:35Speaker 2: Well, there's been a lot of data, and I've been
- 1:48:37Speaker 2: following this data for a long time. I am a constitutionalist,
- 1:48:41Speaker 2: and I believe that you have a right to say
- 1:48:45Speaker 2: what you want to say. That's what it means to
- 1:48:48Speaker 2: be an American. You have freedom of speech, freedom of religion,
- 1:48:51Speaker 2: freedom of association. And it troubles me when people when
- 1:48:55Speaker 2: people are coming after those freedoms. For me, back in 2015,
- 1:49:01Speaker 2: I started monitoring the attacks on free speech. Pew Research
- 1:49:05Speaker 2: did a study. And about 40% of millennials at the
- 1:49:08Speaker 2: time believed there should be limitations placed on free speech. Now,
- 1:49:12Speaker 2: there's a new study out, and a majority of young
- 1:49:16Speaker 2: Americans believe that it's okay to use violence to shut
- 1:49:19Speaker 2: down speech you disagree with. 33% of registered Democrats believe
- 1:49:25Speaker 2: that they would be okay. if somebody were to assassinate
- 1:49:29Speaker 2: President Trump. Another majority of those Democrats believe that, you know,
- 1:49:35Speaker 2: it'd be okay. You know, if he dies in his sleep,
- 1:49:37Speaker 2: we're good with that. So that's troubling that now it's
- 1:49:41Speaker 2: not so much a matter of canceling someone. but killing
- 1:49:44Speaker 2: someone because you simply disagree with their political beliefs. And
- 1:49:48Speaker 2: then I think through that lens, you understand what happened
- 1:49:52Speaker 2: at Utah Valley University with Charlie Kirk. It's a very
- 1:49:57Speaker 2: dark and dangerous time. So that's one big issue. The other,
- 1:50:00Speaker 2: I think, is the two-pronged rise of political Islam. as
- 1:50:04Speaker 2: well as the rise of socialism. And I think that's
- 1:50:08Speaker 2: really because of the dumbing down of our nation's education system.
- 1:50:12Speaker 2: A lot of young people just don't truly understand what
- 1:50:15Speaker 2: socialism is. They don't understand that it has never worked
- 1:50:18Speaker 2: wherever it's been implemented. And they also don't understand that
- 1:50:22Speaker 2: communism especially has resulted in the slaughter of millions of
- 1:50:26Speaker 2: people around the globe. And that's a result of an
- 1:50:30Speaker 2: education system that is not educating our young people. They're
- 1:50:34Speaker 2: indoctrinating them with this radical anti-America propaganda. All right. Coming
- 1:50:46Speaker 2: up tomorrow, more political news. We're going to do some
- 1:50:50Speaker 2: deep dive on what's happening in Michigan, also in Texas
- 1:50:54Speaker 2: and Maine. Our good buddy Josh Jones joining us for
- 1:50:59Speaker 2: his weekly segment. Also, we're going to play a little
- 1:51:02Speaker 2: bit more from our C-SPAN book interview. Just a lot

- 1:51:10Speaker 2: I am so excited for you to read this book.
