- 0:08Speaker 1: And I invited you here. I thought I made myself
- 0:14Speaker 1: perfectly clear. When you're a guest to my home, you
- 0:21Speaker 1: gotta come to me empty. And I said, no, guests,
- 0:27Speaker 1: your presences presents enough. I already had too much stuff,
- 0:35Speaker 1: So how do you dare.
- 0:36Speaker 2: To surbey me? Welcome to I said, no gifts. I'm
- 0:52Speaker 2: Bridger Wine girl. We are in the backyard the first
- 0:56Speaker 2: time since everything burnt down. What's going on? I've woke
- 1:02Speaker 2: up pretty early this morning. I had plenty of time
- 1:04Speaker 2: to get a lot of things done, and I simply
- 1:08Speaker 2: chose not to, So the day just was wasted. I
- 1:12Speaker 2: did get a haircut the other The thing I actually
- 1:16Speaker 2: wanted to talk about is a recent realization I had
- 1:19Speaker 2: that when people on the internet are saying happy Heavenly Birthday.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Until maybe two weeks ago, I thought that meant the
- 1:29Speaker 2: day they died. I thought that meant And now that
- 1:34Speaker 2: I've realized it just means their birthday, It's all so
- 1:38Speaker 2: clear to me. Why would people be celebrating the day
- 1:40Speaker 2: the person died. But I hope that everyone can see
- 1:44Speaker 2: where I'm coming from. It does seem kind of like
- 1:47Speaker 2: happy birthday in Heaven. Like the first time you got
- 1:50Speaker 2: to heaven, so I can't be blamed, but I will
- 1:53Speaker 2: do better moving forward. That's it. It's nighttime, it's dark,
- 2:00Speaker 2: and our guest is wonderful. I adore him. It's Sam Pancake, Hello, Bridger, Sam,
- 2:05Speaker 2: welcome to I said, don't.
- 2:06Speaker 3: Give ridgerd thank you for having me. I'm happy to
- 2:08Speaker 3: be here.
- 2:08Speaker 2: I'm happy to have you here.
- 2:09Speaker 3: I don't think I've ever done a podcast outdoors at
- 2:13Speaker 3: night and in such a lush, tropical, beautiful setting.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Well, it's when you first started describing that sound, it
- 2:20Speaker 2: was getting more and more dangerous. I haven't done on
- 2:22Speaker 2: one outside at night.
- 2:23Speaker 3: At night in a jungle type atmosphere where there seemed
- 2:26Speaker 3: to be fanged creatures about, and I didn't feel safe,
- 2:28Speaker 3: and something was there was a weird smell. Other than that,
- 2:31Speaker 3: I feel perfectly at home. It's funny you say about
- 2:35Speaker 3: a happeny happity it's gonna be. There's a reason I'm
- 2:38Speaker 3: off and I'll talk about it later. Even though I
- 2:40Speaker 3: swore to myself, I took it sacred vow. On the
- 2:44Speaker 3: autobiography of Jennifer Lewis Jennifer with one N Lewis, Who
- 2:48Speaker 3: is My Goddess? That I would not talk about drugs
- 2:51Speaker 3: or sex on this, but.
- 2:52Speaker 2: I we're going to get into it.
- 2:54Speaker 3: Well, okay, So I grew up in a very small
- 2:57Speaker 3: town in West Virginia, very as you can imagine now
- 3:00Speaker 3: Sally or Christian Conservative.
- 3:02Speaker 2: And the best page.
- 3:05Speaker 3: In the newspaper, i'm sure review is the page of
- 3:08Speaker 3: all the like local things about Lordy LORDI dump, he's forty.
- 3:12Speaker 2: You know, here comes Shirley. She's too early.
- 3:15Speaker 3: She's look a nifty for fifty, and like, come on
- 3:18Speaker 3: down to the ramp feed surely she's too early a
- 3:21Speaker 3: premature birth that I just came out of my mouth.
- 3:23Speaker 3: I don't know, but that's what we're going to do
- 3:25Speaker 3: with that. Because also I was looking at it one
- 3:27Speaker 3: time physically and I noticed this family woman had posted
- 3:31Speaker 3: like we're having a birth tenth birthday for a little
- 3:37Speaker 3: lurline in the in the Ebenezer cemetery. And I was like, oh,
- 3:42Speaker 3: it was like a public INVI. And I said, I didn't.
- 3:45Speaker 3: I was like, looking, I was like, that's well, I mean,
- 3:48Speaker 3: people can be poverty ridden. It's a big open space,
- 3:52Speaker 3: balloons in a tree.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe let's do it.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Just come on down, you know. And then and there
- 4:00Speaker 3: was like, there'll be a ceramic birthday cake. I was like, well,
- 4:03Speaker 3: that's cruel to not let Laurlene eat a cake. And
- 4:06Speaker 3: then it slowly washed over me that she was dead.
- 4:09Speaker 2: That is a dark, dark situation in my brain.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Maybe I cooked it up, but there was a photo
- 4:15Speaker 3: of the cake, like that's a step too far for everyone.
- 4:19Speaker 3: It was so at the time of rolling with laughter,
- 4:22Speaker 3: but then later in life, as I've gotten a tiny.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Bit more empathetic, I was like, oh, how tragic and
- 4:28Speaker 2: doing that rip Lawurlen.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not going to say the real name month.
- 4:33Speaker 3: It was probably pronounceable by.
- 4:35Speaker 2: A educated tone. Wow.
- 4:39Speaker 3: I'm very angry with a lot of people in my
- 4:42Speaker 3: hometown in County today, in particularly for just the last
- 4:47Speaker 3: couple of months.
- 4:48Speaker 2: I can't imagine why, no reason, I have a similar feeling.
- 4:53Speaker 3: I imagine you do.
- 4:54Speaker 2: But at least egg price is a rock bottom And.
- 4:57Speaker 3: I went to Trader Joe's today not an egg and
- 4:59Speaker 3: so they've even given up pretending there's an egg section.
- 5:02Speaker 3: There were no labels like sorry next week, gone with milk,
- 5:06Speaker 3: the one of the usc Oh your kidding completely gone,
- 5:08Speaker 3: like egg free store.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that sounds like a new category include a
- 5:13Speaker 2: free environment, egg free store. People not see an egg
- 5:16Speaker 2: an hour store. You're safe. Finally, this is gonna affect
- 5:20Speaker 2: my baking.
- 5:21Speaker 3: It's well trying to make a ceramic cake. You can
- 5:23Speaker 3: do that, Lane is expecting, unless you're puting an egg
- 5:27Speaker 3: wash on your on your you know, ceramic birthday dead balloons.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Good luck America, Good luck to all of us.
- 5:35Speaker 3: God's terrified. Speaking of that, I finally, and I was
- 5:39Speaker 3: sharing a little of this with on a lease earlier.
- 5:42Speaker 2: So I have been.
- 5:44Speaker 3: And just forgive me people who have heard my four
- 5:47Speaker 3: big stories of my life.
- 5:48Speaker 2: I'm sober, i have Celiac disease, I'm in a hotened
- 5:52Speaker 2: mansion in the South, and I'm from a big fail
- 5:55Speaker 2: whatever you know.
- 5:56Speaker 3: I was on Friends twice. It's all the boring stories.
- 5:58Speaker 3: It's top five.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Celiac disease is one of your top five stories.
- 6:05Speaker 3: So so interesting is the point. But my sober twelve
- 6:09Speaker 3: and a half years, I've never luckily all the depression
- 6:12Speaker 3: I thought I had stopped when I stopped drinking a
- 6:14Speaker 3: gallon of depressant today.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Sure, and I don't know how that ends off.
- 6:19Speaker 3: Taking it up prescribed pills by the fistful, but I
- 6:23Speaker 3: was like, oh, I'm fine, I don't have clinical depression,
- 6:26Speaker 3: and I'm gonna be okay until recently where I finally
- 6:30Speaker 3: and you learn a little by little that everyone is,
- 6:33Speaker 3: you know, on something like of course you know, great, good,
- 6:36Speaker 3: thank God. I mean, Sylvia Plath wouldn't have put her
- 6:38Speaker 3: head in the oven if we'd had lexipro in sixty two.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 6:42Speaker 3: So, I finally two weeks ago said to my doctor
- 6:44Speaker 3: and my therapist, who's I've been with ten years, I'm like,
- 6:47Speaker 3: enough with my sobriety heroics, I need to get enough prescription.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Sure, so they put me on something.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Very mild traazid, on which it turns out every third
- 6:55Speaker 3: person I know is on which you bring it up,
- 6:57Speaker 3: including people on my farm.
- 6:58Speaker 2: I and so we're figuring it out. Okay, I'm on
- 7:01Speaker 2: well bututrin. Okay, good, But I'm not familiar with trasident
- 7:05Speaker 2: Trasi dome, which I of course keep calling jazz a
- 7:09Speaker 2: doone the dome. Well, that's where Tina Turner is chuntianity.
- 7:15Speaker 2: It's I knew it from when I did first check
- 7:19Speaker 2: into Its hilarious. Yeah, and the detox for and then
- 7:23Speaker 2: rehabben twenty twelve, Obama was president at least about June.
- 7:28Speaker 2: There are good things about the past.
- 7:29Speaker 3: There are, and I knew the people there who uh,
- 7:34Speaker 3: because you can take prescribed medications. But I don't know
- 7:37Speaker 3: why I held out for so long. It was just
- 7:38Speaker 3: some It's just me being willful in.
- 7:40Speaker 2: A bad way.
- 7:41Speaker 3: You could have trasadone because it's non narcotic and non addicted.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Okay, sure, sure, choose.
- 7:46Speaker 3: For sleep and for anxiety depression, which I did. I
- 7:50Speaker 3: know I have lots of anxiety, but I was managing
- 7:52Speaker 3: it pretty well, so I thought. But the depression, after
- 7:56Speaker 3: all the events of the last two years, including the
- 7:58Speaker 3: last few months, I got to the point where I.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Was like, I can't do it anymore.
- 8:02Speaker 3: Of course, they gave it to me for sleep, but
- 8:04Speaker 3: it's working better for anxiety and depression, and we're figuring
- 8:06Speaker 3: out the dose. And last night I got a little
- 8:09Speaker 3: too much in me.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Only two bills.
- 8:11Speaker 3: The doctor said. I went to see the GP, who
- 8:15Speaker 3: have a new doctor, and I really like him, That's
- 8:17Speaker 3: all I'm going to say. And he was like, yeah,
- 8:18Speaker 3: just you know, see what's going on. So I had
- 8:21Speaker 3: a very interesting day.
- 8:23Speaker 2: And did you sleep like a rock? Last night, did
- 8:25Speaker 2: est really well? And you dream? I do dream?
- 8:27Speaker 3: I dream. Uh, They're they're good, they're they're solid, they're
- 8:31Speaker 3: not nightmares, and they're not unlike my dreams before.
- 8:35Speaker 2: So that's interesting. Oh yeah, a new take on dreams.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Well, what I was doing before is to manage my sleep.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Was on every trick in the book, from no screens
- 8:45Speaker 3: to like regulating my meals and then taking benadrill or
- 8:49Speaker 3: a melotone. And Benadrill was a new in the mix
- 8:51Speaker 3: last year and it was give me a weird like
- 8:54Speaker 3: depression in the morning.
- 8:56Speaker 2: The Benadrill was yeah, well I was sort of.
- 8:58Speaker 3: I was waking up, like I went to I'm a failure.
- 9:02Speaker 3: I've done everything wrong. I didn't I wake up.
- 9:04Speaker 2: You don't need to tell everybody knows that. Everybody, well,
- 9:06Speaker 2: that's true. I want everyone to know that I finally
- 9:08Speaker 2: knew it. You finally came to this finally thanks Bena drill.
- 9:12Speaker 3: No allergies. But now I know I should drip in
- 9:15Speaker 3: front of an oil truck. So I said in my therapist,
- 9:19Speaker 3: like this viitals given me depression. He was like he's
- 9:22Speaker 3: a super He's beyond therapist smart. He's like he's weirdly smart, right,
- 9:26Speaker 3: and all this stuff about medicine. He's like, that is
- 9:27Speaker 3: absolutely not a side effect of benadrill. And I'm like, oh,
- 9:30Speaker 3: welcome to me.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Pancakes box like Pandora's boss. Oh they're sealing myself. I
- 9:38Speaker 2: have a weird reaction to benadryl.
- 9:39Speaker 3: What do you do I have?
- 9:40Speaker 2: And I've told this this is one of my top
- 9:42Speaker 2: five stories, can't wait. I have what's known as a
- 9:46Speaker 2: paradoxical effect to it, which is it doesn't put me
- 9:48Speaker 2: to sleep, it wakes me up. So I was my
- 9:51Speaker 2: first writing job. I was so nervous. I felt like
- 9:53Speaker 2: I was like, I need to be able to sleep
- 9:55Speaker 2: at night, but I was having a hard time. So
- 9:57Speaker 2: someone said take ben a drill, I benadryl, and then
- 10:01Speaker 2: I was awake for at least thirty six hours night.
- 10:04Speaker 2: No absolute hell, and you were taking the nighttime calm
- 10:08Speaker 2: down versus yes, that's not like whatever.
- 10:11Speaker 3: So that's like when they sometimes you give a child coffee,
- 10:14Speaker 3: which when am I not and they go to sleep?
- 10:16Speaker 2: Coffee kind of does that for me. Okay, coffee doesn't
- 10:20Speaker 2: keep me up. I mean it just makes me feel better,
- 10:22Speaker 2: which I think can lull me into like feeling nice,
- 10:25Speaker 2: that false inse of security. Yeah, exactly, exactly, what are good?
- 10:29Speaker 3: Well you what's going on in that Mormon blood over
- 10:32Speaker 3: that gingerbood?
- 10:33Speaker 2: That's a great question. I think that it's just a
- 10:35Speaker 2: different category altogether. The chemicals are.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Just do you know if anyone in your how many siblings?
- 10:41Speaker 2: You have three? And do you like them? Yes? Okay,
- 10:45Speaker 2: well I get killed one wrong or you're a good actor.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Don't ask me that question. I love them, I love them. Yes,
- 10:52Speaker 2: I have two older brothers and a younger sister.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Okay, great, you can just another time. But I'm interested
- 10:58Speaker 3: about your journey to Hollywood.
- 11:02Speaker 2: No, I mean, it's sure, but what whatever you feel
- 11:05Speaker 2: like talking about.
- 11:06Speaker 3: I'm just I'm curious about people, and I know I
- 11:09Speaker 3: run my mouth. I keep looking on at lease because
- 11:10Speaker 3: I wanted to.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Join in to Alisa's making a lot of threatening gestures.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Cut it out, stuff.
- 11:15Speaker 3: Like that, scissor scissors, wrap it up, Razornick. I said
- 11:21Speaker 3: to my I say to my therapist, I'm like your turn.
- 11:24Speaker 3: I did it to my GP, my new GP, my
- 11:26Speaker 3: new cute GP last week. I just, uh, well, the
- 11:32Speaker 3: way the lady I had before was and I found
- 11:36Speaker 3: I'm realizing this more now with the new GP. She
- 11:39Speaker 3: was really uh, really inappropriate a lot of ways.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Oh yeah, can we talk about it? Yes, No, I
- 11:47Speaker 2: don't know. You could look it up.
- 11:48Speaker 3: I guess I don't want to get her in trouble.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Wait, no, no, can you look it up? No? Nothing, I
- 11:53Speaker 2: know it was a Vulture article. There's a Vulture.
- 11:55Speaker 3: Article the cut, so the h no, I just I
- 12:00Speaker 3: won't get into it. But the new one of the
- 12:02Speaker 3: things I did on purpose where she this old doctor
- 12:05Speaker 3: suddenly was like she's no longer with us now, oh boy,
- 12:10Speaker 3: a bit older to to the degree she could have retired.
- 12:12Speaker 3: But she said things to me, including like, oh I
- 12:15Speaker 3: love you people. She also and this is another one
- 12:21Speaker 3: of my stories. If sorry, I've heard it before, but
- 12:22Speaker 3: I was working on a show. I'm not going to
- 12:24Speaker 3: say it was one of the show runners female. We
- 12:27Speaker 3: got to talking and she we we realized we had
- 12:31Speaker 3: her in common, this doctor and the show runner, and
- 12:35Speaker 3: you know, you you have to have some balls and
- 12:37Speaker 3: guts and overies to run a show. Ideally ideally, yes,
- 12:43Speaker 3: but she was like she made me cry, Oh my god,
- 12:45Speaker 3: I hope this is this doctor doing because you think maybe
- 12:48Speaker 3: I thought it was just for gay people. But she
- 12:50Speaker 3: I'll tell you later because some of it gets real intimate.
- 12:53Speaker 3: But the new doctor who is under the category of
- 12:57Speaker 3: lgbt Q Champions, Okay, the ill health you see they
- 13:01Speaker 3: had that category. Yeah, I think it's new and I
- 13:04Speaker 3: picked him and he's great, and I would not try
- 13:07Speaker 3: to purport what his story is, but like you know,
- 13:09Speaker 3: in terms of his background, but I think you know,
- 13:11Speaker 3: he he gets it. Let's just say he was telling
- 13:14Speaker 3: him the things that she did to me or wanted
- 13:17Speaker 3: me to do, et cetera. He was like, no, no, no, wow,
- 13:23Speaker 3: jumping through a lot of hoops to be on prep.
- 13:26Speaker 3: Being on prep with some sort of like emergency.
- 13:30Speaker 2: You know, you know that those doctors are out there,
- 13:33Speaker 2: probably more and more abundance than you would expect in
- 13:36Speaker 2: different areas of the country. Complete do you imagine?
- 13:39Speaker 3: I can't, And it's sad. So I'm lucky to have him.
- 13:42Speaker 2: I'm grateful for him. I'm sorry more back to you.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Can the guests refocus the podcast on me.
- 13:49Speaker 3: I hate talking about myself.
- 13:50Speaker 2: I'm so tired of you stealing the Spotlin.
- 13:52Speaker 3: I probably sensed I hate attention. I also want to
- 13:56Speaker 3: apologize to everyone because I am way more casual. I
- 13:59Speaker 3: usedn't leave the house and sweats except to go to
- 14:01Speaker 3: the gym.
- 14:02Speaker 2: But I think it's good look. Oh, don't hate it.
- 14:05Speaker 2: So I didn't change.
- 14:07Speaker 3: And I think this medicine is making me have less
- 14:10Speaker 3: costume changes a day.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Oh that's nice, because.
- 14:12Speaker 3: I will put on a Probably is not a good look,
- 14:16Speaker 3: It's probably just I just like to look a certain
- 14:19Speaker 3: way going certain places. Right, Even back in the days
- 14:23Speaker 3: where we did auditions in person, Like if I had
- 14:26Speaker 3: to put a suit on for an audition and go
- 14:27Speaker 3: about my day in that suit.
- 14:29Speaker 2: I felt like a fraud. Right of course, I felt
- 14:32Speaker 2: like an old Yeah that makes no sense.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Uptight white man, which I only am. I'm only that
- 14:36Speaker 3: to a degree.
- 14:39Speaker 2: So you're from Mormon Land, I'm from Mormon Land, USA.
- 14:43Speaker 2: I had to go to Salt Lake City in the spring.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Oh what were you doing there?
- 14:47Speaker 3: There was a work thing I had to do, okay,
- 14:49Speaker 3: and I stayed at a very big hotel that I
- 14:51Speaker 3: did not like.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Was it the Grand America? Sure was. That's the only
- 14:55Speaker 2: hotel that anyone ever stays at. What was the problem
- 14:58Speaker 2: with it? I just it was.
- 15:00Speaker 3: It was a work trip that my friend and I
- 15:02Speaker 3: were on this little tour for this book that she
- 15:04Speaker 3: wrote and or you can look at my Instagram and.
- 15:07Speaker 2: We are listen, we're dear friends.
- 15:09Speaker 3: And we had a great time, okay, And we got
- 15:11Speaker 3: to say in a lot of really nice hotels, and
- 15:14Speaker 3: then we got to Salt Lake Big Town. Because I was,
- 15:17Speaker 3: can I say, I was like, it's I thought it
- 15:18Speaker 3: would be bigger Salt Lake Salt Like, it's not that
- 15:20Speaker 3: big of a city now, and it's the city is
- 15:23Speaker 3: in the title, so they need to rewrite that. I
- 15:25Speaker 3: was like, I think I was really jetlaged and angry
- 15:28Speaker 3: and the altitude and everyone in Salt like, I'm so sorry,
- 15:30Speaker 3: but just pretend that I'm saying this with love. I
- 15:32Speaker 3: was like, Salt Lake City more like salt Lake Town.
- 15:36Speaker 3: But here's the thing, I'll never go there again. I
- 15:42Speaker 3: love read Iguana.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Oh Delicious of your Dream I loved. I ended up
- 15:48Speaker 2: loving Salt Lake City.
- 15:49Speaker 3: And we have met so many great people the theater
- 15:52Speaker 3: just like wonderful people. I'm being sincere, I really am.
- 16:00Speaker 3: And it's hilly around here.
- 16:03Speaker 2: But I was I.
- 16:07Speaker 3: Thought it was like bigger. I don't know why, right,
- 16:09Speaker 3: And it's beautiful, like the mountains, ring it with the snowcap.
- 16:13Speaker 2: It's really a beautiful place. I think it takes people
- 16:16Speaker 2: by surprise.
- 16:17Speaker 3: Yes, because you it is kind of in a bowl too.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Yes, And you also go in with so many preconceived
- 16:22Speaker 2: notions and a lot of them justified and you get
- 16:26Speaker 2: there and it's a nice city.
- 16:27Speaker 3: It was just more casual and more less like we
- 16:32Speaker 3: had just been to like Chicago, you know, in Dallas
- 16:35Speaker 3: and New York at Philadelphia. So it was more it's
- 16:38Speaker 3: like a big why western city.
- 16:41Speaker 2: You know. It's a I mean, compared to Chicago, it's
- 16:44Speaker 2: a country mouse it is. But if you compare it
- 16:47Speaker 2: to say a Denver A Boys.
- 16:51Speaker 3: I've not been to Boys, I've been to Ketchum, it's
- 16:53Speaker 3: more of a it's an Idaho.
- 16:55Speaker 2: Ketcham, Idaho.
- 16:56Speaker 3: Remember when that's the town that, uh, you know, was
- 16:58Speaker 3: Hadley near Ketcham. The Demi Moor and Bruce Willis bought over.
- 17:02Speaker 2: A lot of rich people in Idaho. Yeah, Sun Valley. Yeah,
- 17:05Speaker 2: they're buying big pieces of property, riding their horses.
- 17:09Speaker 3: The river runs through it.
- 17:11Speaker 2: That river absolutely runs through it. Yeah, but I do
- 17:14Speaker 2: uh now, not living in Saltlake, I really appreciate it.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Going back those mountains. They meant nothing to me my
- 17:21Speaker 2: entire childhood because they were just always there, born there.
- 17:25Speaker 2: I was born there.
- 17:26Speaker 3: Yeah, that's me in the mountains of West Virginia where
- 17:28Speaker 3: I was born in southern Virginia, but both of my
- 17:30Speaker 3: mother and father's families are from West Virginia, and that's
- 17:33Speaker 3: where the pancakes have been from since the seventeen.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Hundreds and so.
- 17:38Speaker 3: And the mountains are so beautiful and it's visually so beautiful,
- 17:41Speaker 3: and I completely took it for granted.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Yeah, then you go back for the first time as
- 17:44Speaker 2: an adult and think, oh my god, what am I
- 17:47Speaker 2: looking at? It's stunning? Its completely different things.
- 17:50Speaker 3: It was I just wanted to It was a big
- 17:54Speaker 3: outdoorsy sportsy hunting, fishing, camping, athletics versus all that childhood
- 18:01Speaker 3: gardening you know, uh, canoeing, canoe lots of canoeing, all
- 18:08Speaker 3: the canoeing and kayaking and all that. But then it
- 18:10Speaker 3: was just I was like, I don't want to be
- 18:12Speaker 3: in the city course.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Did you participate in any of the outdoor activities? Yes,
- 18:18Speaker 2: well we were forced to. Did you enjoy any of
- 18:21Speaker 2: the ones you were forced to do?
- 18:22Speaker 3: I am now grateful that I know how to that. I.
- 18:25Speaker 3: I mean, I'm super rusty on it. But I was
- 18:27Speaker 3: the oldest son. And my dad, who I'm named after,
- 18:31Speaker 3: UH did his He's been dead for a while now,
- 18:35Speaker 3: so you do look, you do, honestly look back with
- 18:39Speaker 3: more love.
- 18:39Speaker 2: And empathy and understanding.
- 18:41Speaker 3: And and he he did his best with me, sure,
- 18:45Speaker 3: and he they had six kids. And my father later was,
- 18:49Speaker 3: I don't want all you kids, but your mother just
- 18:51Speaker 3: had to have you. And he if I had been
- 18:54Speaker 3: my brothers who did who were athletic, and who did
- 18:57Speaker 3: like to hunt?
- 18:59Speaker 2: And I hunted and we were shooting my first squirrel
- 19:01Speaker 2: and being like why, I just felt bad at it. No,
- 19:04Speaker 2: I ate it.
- 19:05Speaker 3: I eat meat still. But I loved canoeing camping. I
- 19:09Speaker 3: was like, what, we live in the country. Why are
- 19:11Speaker 3: we driving up to our farm up the river to
- 19:14Speaker 3: lay on the ground on a rent? Yeah? But I
- 19:19Speaker 3: we had four h You probably had four ach.
- 19:21Speaker 2: We had we had a four h club. Yes, and
- 19:24Speaker 2: like there was the very specific cowboys who were in
- 19:26Speaker 2: the club. Oh, because you were Western? Yeah we were.
- 19:29Speaker 3: There were lots of farmers and we raised people, raised
- 19:33Speaker 3: pigs and stuff. But I liked, Uh, I loved four
- 19:36Speaker 3: age camp and I liked horses. I liked riding horses.
- 19:40Speaker 3: That was fun the whole experience.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Then I did. We did.
- 19:44Speaker 3: We grew up in a big old place that my
- 19:45Speaker 3: dad grew up into outside of town, and then we
- 19:48Speaker 3: had this big pancake family farm up the river. So
- 19:52Speaker 3: it was yeah, it's now it's lots of mixed feelings
- 19:56Speaker 3: because of the political situation, but of it's it's something
- 20:01Speaker 3: that I take for granted, and I think it's why
- 20:03Speaker 3: I never really feel lonely is because I have not
- 20:07Speaker 3: just five brothers and sisters and my mom is still alive.
- 20:09Speaker 3: I have lots of I have a big extended family,
- 20:13Speaker 3: and I always we always had lots of friends and everything,
- 20:17Speaker 3: so I know that's there for me. And I had
- 20:18Speaker 3: this history and heritage there, which I don't. I think
- 20:22Speaker 3: I'd probably be even more insecure and more of a
- 20:24Speaker 3: mess if I didn't know I had that solid background.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Of course, is your family all still there?
- 20:29Speaker 3: No, my mom's still there, one of my brothers, a
- 20:34Speaker 3: lot of my cousins on the pancake side are there,
- 20:36Speaker 3: but my four other siblings are in I have a
- 20:42Speaker 3: sister here in la a brother in Philadelphia, a brother
- 20:45Speaker 3: in Pittsburgh and a sister outside of Morgan Hiut Western
- 20:47Speaker 3: because she was a professor at WU.
- 20:49Speaker 2: So she's retired now. And you guys are all you
- 20:53Speaker 2: enjoy each other?
- 20:55Speaker 3: Yes, okay, that's not going in there. But for the
- 21:01Speaker 3: most part, yes, we love them all. Right, I get
- 21:03Speaker 3: along with them all. We're all the same page politically,
- 21:06Speaker 3: which is pretty I.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Mean, that's a huge thing for a family.
- 21:10Speaker 3: And I have lots of people in my family that
- 21:12Speaker 3: I'll love a lot, and I'm it's one of those
- 21:15Speaker 3: things with again, maybe it's the meds, but I'm like, oh,
- 21:17Speaker 3: I'm pretty fortunate with that, and I love Yeah, I
- 21:20Speaker 3: have my siblings are I'm really grateful for them.
- 21:22Speaker 2: That's terrific. Well, I don't want to talk about your
- 21:25Speaker 2: siblings anymore. I have no interest. There's something else I
- 21:29Speaker 2: need to talk to you about. Oh what your beautiful home.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Follow me, You've got to see the bathroom. There's something
- 21:41Speaker 2: I want to talk to you about. I was really
- 21:43Speaker 2: excited to have you here today. I think I was
- 21:45Speaker 2: excited to come or tonight. Rather, let's maintain the reality
- 21:50Speaker 2: for the listener.
- 21:50Speaker 3: They can see it.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I was looking forward to it. I thought Sam
- 21:55Speaker 2: is incredible. Huh, We'll have a lovely time, thank you,
- 21:58Speaker 2: and then I'll send him on his way.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Hmm.
- 22:01Speaker 2: So I was a little surprised the podcast is called
- 22:04Speaker 2: I said no gifts, and uh, you are very well
- 22:09Speaker 2: aware of that as far as I know. I know
- 22:14Speaker 2: emails have been exchanged. I know that Analisea is using
- 22:18Speaker 2: the title of the podcast, unless that's something that they've
- 22:21Speaker 2: changed recently.
- 22:22Speaker 3: You never know what's gonna come out of Onalisa no.
- 22:24Speaker 2: On, Lisa's a wild card.
- 22:26Speaker 3: You let me know when I can speak up for myself,
- 22:30Speaker 3: when I get to say my piece, I'll say it now.
- 22:33Speaker 3: I'm a I'm a Southern gentleman, and one never enters
- 22:37Speaker 3: a home without a little something in one's hand, a
- 22:39Speaker 3: little bread and butter. President Lan Yappa, Hostess Gift Bridge
- 22:43Speaker 3: of Maria, Divina, Victoria.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Wyeger Bridgie Whiney. Well, that feels like a dee Okay,
- 22:53Speaker 2: I'm fully accepting that rationale. How can I deny that
- 22:58Speaker 2: you did? You kind of stomped into the back. Not
- 23:01Speaker 2: I would not describe as little a gift.
- 23:06Speaker 3: Look at me, I'm like, thank you all the gift.
- 23:08Speaker 2: The gift, I would say, is one of our bigger
- 23:11Speaker 2: gifts that has come to this podcast.
- 23:13Speaker 3: Well, if you're going to disobey, disobey fervently, emphatically and largely.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Well should we open it here on the podcast? You
- 23:22Speaker 2: tell me, I'm happy to I'm in a good mood.
- 23:28Speaker 2: Let me grab it here. It's it's large. Get no,
- 23:32Speaker 2: I'm the host here. Let me you don't. Don't you
- 23:34Speaker 2: lift a finger? Ah, this is unbelievable. It's the size
- 23:38Speaker 2: of I would say a picture frame, a lot, not
- 23:43Speaker 2: a small, but a large I don't know, two feet
- 23:46Speaker 2: by three feet sure, possibly four, possibly four. And it's
- 23:52Speaker 2: wrapped in this very stylish gift wrap.
- 23:54Speaker 3: And I want you to know that I'm currently without staff.
- 23:57Speaker 3: So I did that myself, and I am not gonnat it.
- 24:00Speaker 2: You did a better job. I mean, if I had
- 24:02Speaker 2: done this, it would not have come together. If this
- 24:04Speaker 2: looks lovely.
- 24:05Speaker 3: You didn't have singles living class in tenth grade, which
- 24:07Speaker 3: was homech for co ed homech where you had to learn,
- 24:10Speaker 3: among other things, how to make a chocolate covered peanut
- 24:12Speaker 3: butter ball.
- 24:12Speaker 2: And how to wrap a gift. We did learn how
- 24:15Speaker 2: to make the chocolate covered peanut butter balls. The no
- 24:17Speaker 2: bake cookies that we just had a homech.
- 24:20Speaker 3: Well, they I think because of the you know, the
- 24:23Speaker 3: outrageous misogyny and sexism that they had to call it
- 24:28Speaker 3: not homech because boys were in this class singles living
- 24:31Speaker 3: how to.
- 24:31Speaker 2: Like singles for a class. Our best named class was
- 24:36Speaker 2: Tech two thousand.
- 24:37Speaker 3: Oh wow, the computers the year like you guys won't
- 24:42Speaker 3: believe it's gonna happen.
- 24:44Speaker 2: I don't know why they as they came closer to
- 24:46Speaker 2: the year two thousand, they didn't update that, just throw
- 24:48Speaker 2: a three in place of the two.
- 24:50Speaker 3: Listen, it didn't change twentieth century Fox. They're like, we're
- 24:53Speaker 3: sticking in the olden change all the loos. Shall I
- 24:57Speaker 3: hold it?
- 24:58Speaker 2: Yeah? You tell me because this is a I mean,
- 25:00Speaker 2: I haven't unwrapped something like this on the podcast before,
- 25:03Speaker 2: so you direct how I should open it.
- 25:05Speaker 3: Well, you can open it, let me feel something, and
- 25:07Speaker 3: it's so beautifully if you if she opened this little yeah,
- 25:11Speaker 3: that's just a little extra garnish off the garden because
- 25:14Speaker 3: I'm fun. And then you just keep going, I'm gonna
- 25:17Speaker 3: hold hold it solidly while you.
- 25:20Speaker 2: I don't like to tear up the paper, you know,
- 25:22Speaker 2: Oh okay, you know I want to show something the
- 25:25Speaker 2: job you did. It is expensive. This.
- 25:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I do have a supply of wrap. I'm no
- 25:31Speaker 3: candy spelling anybody, but I do have a supply of wrapping.
- 25:35Speaker 2: The gift wrapping room still exists. Do we know in
- 25:37Speaker 2: my house at Candy Spellings. Oh, that's a good question.
- 25:41Speaker 2: Somebody should do a look into that.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Now.
- 25:43Speaker 2: I can't imagine she still lives there. Does she still live?
- 25:47Speaker 3: Oh?
- 25:48Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, she's still alive. Oh, I don't know is
- 25:52Speaker 2: still alive? And I have to imagine she carries the
- 25:54Speaker 2: tradition on with a gift wrapping room.
- 25:57Speaker 3: Well, they I remember they were. They were famous.
- 26:00Speaker 2: A strange toe over the gift trap room. Alive candy, candy,
- 26:06Speaker 2: reach out some old candy. Okay, we're opening, We're opening.
- 26:11Speaker 2: I'm gonna help you. Okay. And I'm on the other
- 26:13Speaker 2: side of whatever this is. So I haven't I haven't
- 26:16Speaker 2: seen it yet. So this is kind of actually a
- 26:18Speaker 2: fun video. It's never been more excited. I'm excited on
- 26:21Speaker 2: a mountain side in my life. Oh my god, wait,
- 26:27Speaker 2: who is this? This is a giant photo of a
- 26:31Speaker 2: shirtless man, uh smiling in a swimming pool. Who is
- 26:36Speaker 2: this alis. Do you know who that is? Oh?
- 26:41Speaker 3: Now I want to burn it. I mean, hooray for everyone.
- 26:44Speaker 3: Don't kill me that it didn't occur to my ancient
- 26:48Speaker 3: old the oldest gen X possible ass that you might
- 26:51Speaker 3: not know who that is?
- 26:52Speaker 2: Who is it?
- 26:53Speaker 3: It's Telly Savalis TV's co Jack.
- 26:57Speaker 2: He is getting out of a pool. I have always
- 26:59Speaker 2: been very much lustful for him. He's very good looking. Yeah,
- 27:03Speaker 2: he look. Do you do you know Kojak at all?
- 27:05Speaker 2: Do you I'm familiar with the title of Kojak and
- 27:08Speaker 2: I always mix it up with the Stephen King dog movie.
- 27:11Speaker 2: Uh Kujo Cujo? Okay, I've seen neither.
- 27:15Speaker 3: I have this is you know, I've never seen Kujo
- 27:17Speaker 3: even though my Paldani pantaro is in it, because I
- 27:20Speaker 3: don't I love dogs, and that freaked me out right.
- 27:23Speaker 2: And you know what the story is, it's just about
- 27:26Speaker 2: I mean, it's not just about a demon dog.
- 27:29Speaker 3: What's the dog's who's rabies? Oh that's their dog and
- 27:33Speaker 3: they're trapped in the car and the heat and the kid.
- 27:34Speaker 3: This is the original, but one of the early pioneers
- 27:37Speaker 3: of like the boy needs his inhaler or his diabetes,
- 27:40Speaker 3: he needs his rabies shot. He's going too.
- 27:46Speaker 2: I was terrified of rabies as a kid, so this
- 27:49Speaker 2: would have killed me. But you grew up in the country, right. Yeah.
- 27:52Speaker 2: There was like this feeling of like, if my mouse
- 27:54Speaker 2: bites me, I'm going to get rabies and die like
- 27:56Speaker 2: a pioneer. Did you read a bit my snake? No?
- 28:00Speaker 2: Did you?
- 28:01Speaker 3: Yeah, a little bit, not not poisonous. I've killed I've
- 28:04Speaker 3: killed copper heads with a garden. It was like that. Wow,
- 28:08Speaker 3: it was like that we had like a barn and ship.
- 28:10Speaker 2: Wowow. Telly Savalis is.
- 28:12Speaker 3: A Greek American actor who it was Kojak was a
- 28:16Speaker 3: detective and he always has had a lollipop o catphrase
- 28:22Speaker 3: was who loves your baby? I think google it? Please,
- 28:26Speaker 3: I will. I would like to announce that this is
- 28:29Speaker 3: a regift.
- 28:30Speaker 2: Okay, this is a gift. I mean you don't want
- 28:32Speaker 2: any tacky, tacky tacky or valuable recycling to save the planet.
- 28:38Speaker 3: Do you know Sarah Thire?
- 28:40Speaker 4: Uh?
- 28:40Speaker 2: Yes, of course Sarah was moving out of that house
- 28:43Speaker 2: because she yes, of course yes, and she had this
- 28:47Speaker 2: amazing yard garage sale and Rosernandez and I went over, Yes,
- 28:52Speaker 2: come my best friend and come over and get stuff,
- 28:56Speaker 2: and she h, I bought this from her.
- 28:58Speaker 3: Wow, and and so I was, it's we have you'll
- 29:03Speaker 3: come over. I wish I had a giant, big number
- 29:06Speaker 3: birthday this year, and I wish i'd known you, But
- 29:07Speaker 3: I would.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Have been by the both of you, Oh God, when
- 29:09Speaker 2: I was ten years from now.
- 29:12Speaker 3: Another Yeah, well, fingers crossed or not?
- 29:16Speaker 2: Well, your last birthday was ninety. We are waiting. We're
- 29:20Speaker 2: hoping you get to one hundred.
- 29:22Speaker 3: Or you can bring ceramic cake to the forest line.
- 29:25Speaker 2: I will lead the charge, and I want a ceramic
- 29:28Speaker 2: cheesecake from Juniors in New York. Why what is that?
- 29:32Speaker 2: Who's that lady coming out of me? Anyway?
- 29:35Speaker 3: I love this.
- 29:36Speaker 2: So if you're just gonna, if you're gonna gift it,
- 29:38Speaker 2: this will not be regifted. Okay, good, I mean, so
- 29:41Speaker 2: now you'll put me in a compromise position. Yeah, because
- 29:43Speaker 2: it seems like you kind.
- 29:44Speaker 3: Of wanted Well, no, I took up the good news
- 29:47Speaker 3: about today's society is I took a photo of it
- 29:49Speaker 3: before I wrapped it. Okay, but we have a big
- 29:53Speaker 3: garage at our place, which is like sort of a
- 29:54Speaker 3: music room and sort of a cool rumpus room. Seventies
- 29:58Speaker 3: rock and roll things, lots of Now it's a lot
- 30:01Speaker 3: of storage stuff, but like it's jock chocoa block full
- 30:05Speaker 3: with all kinds of posters and stuff. And it's time
- 30:07Speaker 3: to to in the herd.
- 30:10Speaker 2: So I thinned, Telly.
- 30:11Speaker 3: I mean, I don't imagine having a house anytime soon
- 30:14Speaker 3: or ever where I could have the space to hang that.
- 30:17Speaker 3: You clearly do looking at a giant white wall behind
- 30:21Speaker 3: on Alice.
- 30:21Speaker 2: I'm gonna hang this in my backyard.
- 30:23Speaker 3: Cut, I'd hang it over my bed, frankly, but you
- 30:26Speaker 3: know what, guess what hold this microphone? Oh no, I'll
- 30:29Speaker 3: hold it because that's not all.
- 30:31Speaker 2: Oh there's more.
- 30:34Speaker 3: Oh. Also, Sarah when we got these, she's like, just
- 30:36Speaker 3: so you know, I have no I'm fine with.
- 30:38Speaker 2: You if you were gifting it, okay. And I'm not
- 30:41Speaker 2: even gonna go through the pretense of where was Sarah
- 30:43Speaker 2: hanging this in her home? It was in like a
- 30:46Speaker 2: in her old home. It was like in a I
- 30:48Speaker 2: don't know because it was down.
- 30:49Speaker 3: By them, but I think in one of the like
- 30:50Speaker 3: the pool house Maids.
- 30:52Speaker 2: That makes sense. This is kind of near the pool
- 30:54Speaker 2: or a visan area. Yeah, he's in the pool, yes,
- 30:58Speaker 2: Sex you.
- 30:58Speaker 3: Know, and frankly, I wish the camera would And now.
- 31:00Speaker 2: I know this is ah. I guess well they got
- 31:03Speaker 2: there's a zero headroom. I guess that, torso. Just do
- 31:08Speaker 2: you well.
- 31:08Speaker 3: He's also famously on the Twilight Zone episode Talking Tina,
- 31:13Speaker 3: the talking doll.
- 31:14Speaker 2: Oh wow, he's the dad. Oh he's a dad. Wait
- 31:19Speaker 2: was this Twilight Zone in the sixties?
- 31:21Speaker 3: Well, yeah, early sixties, black and white.
- 31:23Speaker 2: How old was he in Kujo? He's in code? He
- 31:26Speaker 2: was not in coach? What am I telling you?
- 31:30Speaker 3: Well, you know, when you're little in the seventies or now,
- 31:32Speaker 3: and people who are in their thirties or forties seem
- 31:34Speaker 3: old old. Everyone's like an old person. So he was
- 31:37Speaker 3: also shaved head, bald guy, so he seemed older. But
- 31:39Speaker 3: I don't know, probably only in his forties.
- 31:42Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I guess in the sixties the dads were
- 31:44Speaker 2: like in their twenties.
- 31:45Speaker 3: Exactly, yes, yes, so I also do you know Battle
- 31:48Speaker 3: of the Network Stars?
- 31:49Speaker 2: Do you remember that? I no, I liked the sound
- 31:51Speaker 2: of this.
- 31:52Speaker 3: Do yourself a favor tonight while you are pleasure yourself,
- 31:55Speaker 3: google Battle of the Network Stars swimming competition. Ladies and gentlemen,
- 32:01Speaker 3: no matter whom you are or what you are, you know,
- 32:03Speaker 3: casting your eyes uponst sex like skinny I mean not
- 32:08Speaker 3: skinny people or all sizes, but like thin layers of
- 32:13Speaker 3: latex fabric over ladies and gentlemen, the Charlie's Angels, the
- 32:17Speaker 3: Scott Veo. Sorry, like just swimming and jumping, and.
- 32:22Speaker 2: So it was like Olympics for series regulars.
- 32:24Speaker 3: Yeah, it was.
- 32:25Speaker 2: It's exactly what do you not know that?
- 32:27Speaker 3: Oh you've got to watch it. Oh my god, I
- 32:31Speaker 3: don't know what your situation is or if this is
- 32:33Speaker 3: your wife over here.
- 32:33Speaker 2: But I'm gay, all right, so I'm straight.
- 32:38Speaker 3: You better be more more man, The more man the better.
- 32:46Speaker 3: You said, no gifts for you, But is there any
- 32:48Speaker 3: rule about bringing gifts for your gentleman friend? There could be, okay,
- 32:53Speaker 3: but there's a caveat for this. You cannot tell Sally Struthers.
- 32:56Speaker 2: Okay, I'm gonna open this up. I'm gonna do you
- 32:58Speaker 2: know what I'm gonna do with the We're gonna come
- 33:00Speaker 2: back to the picture, of course. But it's been leaning
- 33:02Speaker 2: against me.
- 33:02Speaker 3: Why don't I take it from you?
- 33:04Speaker 2: No? Don't all right?
- 33:08Speaker 3: Oh oh, oh, probably could reuse this too. I really
- 33:13Speaker 3: did a solid by you. I've given you all sorts
- 33:16Speaker 3: of things.
- 33:18Speaker 2: Okay, now we're back, and okay, you want me to
- 33:21Speaker 2: open this one. Now, this is a smaller item. This
- 33:23Speaker 2: is more the size of a book, so you can
- 33:26Speaker 2: open this up.
- 33:27Speaker 3: It's not for you, it's not for me. And I'm
- 33:30Speaker 3: hoping that I know the name of your partner.
- 33:36Speaker 2: It's Candace, Candace Spelling. I was being very coy when
- 33:42Speaker 2: I brought her up. Is she still alive? It is
- 33:46Speaker 2: my wife, still alive?
- 33:48Speaker 3: Does anyone know?
- 33:53Speaker 2: Okay, okay, this is like a okay, wait, it's some
- 33:56Speaker 2: sort of paper. It has an s for some goula. Yeah,
- 34:00Speaker 2: oh my god, this is so sweet. Well this is
- 34:03Speaker 2: also a regift. Okay.
- 34:04Speaker 3: And like I said, don't tell Sally Struthers, because when
- 34:07Speaker 3: I had this big birthday party, Sally Struthers was there.
- 34:09Speaker 3: Of course, I love her. She's a delight. We had
- 34:13Speaker 3: worked together before. We have friends in common. It's one
- 34:15Speaker 3: of those dreams where you're like, I'm gonna be friends
- 34:17Speaker 3: with Sally Straws.
- 34:18Speaker 2: One day She's like, now, this is just part of
- 34:19Speaker 2: my life. One day I'm shooting a scroll in the face.
- 34:22Speaker 3: The next day, Sally Struthers and me are on Gilmore
- 34:24Speaker 3: Girl's or Reimagined or whatever that thing was called.
- 34:28Speaker 2: She gave me this box.
- 34:31Speaker 3: She brought it up the stairs at our house. I
- 34:33Speaker 3: can't believe she could lift it. It was filled with
- 34:36Speaker 3: stationary with S's on.
- 34:37Speaker 2: It of Sally Struther's stationary.
- 34:39Speaker 3: I think so now I'm an s sam Pancake Joseph
- 34:43Speaker 3: Samuel Pancok the third. If you're really gonna try to,
- 34:46Speaker 3: you know, steal my identity, good luck, no one wants it.
- 34:49Speaker 3: But she brought me so much great s logoed monogram.
- 34:53Speaker 3: It's not a monogram. I don't think it's just one letter.
- 34:55Speaker 2: Yeah, this.
- 34:58Speaker 3: Young bridger is from a block like that.
- 35:02Speaker 2: Wow, that much paper And.
- 35:04Speaker 3: I was like, I bet no one bought brings Jim
- 35:06Speaker 3: mister smagoola right to love this. Yeah, so he can
- 35:10Speaker 3: write and write letters instead of like doing direct communication
- 35:14Speaker 3: because a lot of irritating behavior. Also, doesn't he have
- 35:17Speaker 3: a good doesn't he have a mustache?
- 35:19Speaker 2: He does have a mustache paper. I'm talking these other people,
- 35:26Speaker 2: I'm talking together around my boyfriend rather than me. Yeah,
- 35:30Speaker 2: where is he? By the way, you didn't wear these
- 35:34Speaker 2: and gray flannel sweats for nothing? I'm wearing panties don't
- 35:37Speaker 2: turn off the lights click. Well, this is wonderful. So
- 35:42Speaker 2: you have a bunch of other s labeled stuff. I
- 35:44Speaker 2: don't know how I'm gonna what I'm gonna do with it? Yeah,
- 35:47Speaker 2: but because like this could last for the rest of
- 35:49Speaker 2: a lifetime, just this one piece, this notebook.
- 35:53Speaker 3: What was I I'm not complaining, I'm delighted, I'm excited,
- 35:55Speaker 3: I'm caring. I'm glad I have it.
- 35:57Speaker 2: But what was I to do with all that? Right?
- 36:00Speaker 2: Other thn regift to all there's like stationary? Have you
- 36:04Speaker 2: started using any of it? Yeah? What do you use
- 36:07Speaker 2: it for? I'll write a thank you notes? Okay, that's good.
- 36:10Speaker 2: There we go.
- 36:11Speaker 3: I also from all these hotels I've been to from
- 36:13Speaker 3: mostly from work. Like, as I said to my friend,
- 36:15Speaker 3: I'm so such a spoiled little bitch on other people's
- 36:19Speaker 3: dimes in terms of travel, and.
- 36:21Speaker 2: That's the best feeling in the world.
- 36:23Speaker 3: But I have every single little notepatty thing. Oh to
- 36:26Speaker 3: the degree that it's getting you know, where are you keeping?
- 36:29Speaker 2: Well? I have a system. I have the system.
- 36:34Speaker 3: I live in a very small house and it is
- 36:36Speaker 3: filled with stationary. At this point, I have these little
- 36:39Speaker 3: I bought these little like carrying, like I think they're
- 36:42Speaker 3: for arts and crafts, And they have all these little
- 36:44Speaker 3: pockets and slots, and you have like this one slot
- 36:46Speaker 3: is all has notepads in it and one has like
- 36:49Speaker 3: stickers in it. And I'm that gal.
- 36:51Speaker 2: And are you writing letters? Are you mailing things? Or
- 36:54Speaker 2: is just thank you notes and the occasional.
- 36:56Speaker 3: Thank you notes? I do Christmas cards?
- 36:57Speaker 2: I do.
- 36:58Speaker 3: I have again, five others and sisters, seventieses and nephews
- 37:01Speaker 3: and some aunts and uncles that I also send Birthday
- 37:04Speaker 3: and Christmas cards to all of them. So I do
- 37:05Speaker 3: a lot of that.
- 37:06Speaker 2: What sort of Christmas cards? Are you doing? That picture
- 37:09Speaker 2: of you nudes?
- 37:12Speaker 1: None?
- 37:13Speaker 3: I do you know?
- 37:14Speaker 2: It depends they're so expensive. Oh I can't imagine. Do
- 37:18Speaker 2: you do Christmas cards? I just have no holiday spirit?
- 37:22Speaker 2: Watching good for you?
- 37:24Speaker 3: I used to comfort me, and now I'm going through
- 37:28Speaker 3: the motions. But I just will buy a couple of
- 37:31Speaker 3: boxes of Christmas cards. I used to get really when
- 37:34Speaker 3: I was working in Vancouver for like five years, on
- 37:36Speaker 3: and off. I would They had really good ones there,
- 37:38Speaker 3: which you can get everything online now, but I would
- 37:40Speaker 3: go to the to the.
- 37:41Speaker 2: Museum there a Vancouver and get the fancy arts, the
- 37:44Speaker 2: mom ones really nice.
- 37:45Speaker 3: And now you go down to paper source and it's
- 37:47Speaker 3: goddamn twenty five dollars.
- 37:49Speaker 2: For seven cars.
- 37:51Speaker 3: The fox sitting there with a Santa hat and a
- 37:54Speaker 3: smirk on his face.
- 37:56Speaker 2: And then I just think about my own behavior about
- 37:58Speaker 2: when I get Christmas cards. I I'm opening them next
- 38:01Speaker 2: to the garbage cane. It's just, I mean, even people
- 38:05Speaker 2: I deeply care about. I look at it for a
- 38:06Speaker 2: minute and I think, Okay, this doesn't need to be
- 38:08Speaker 2: in my house anymore.
- 38:09Speaker 3: That's so sort of you I don't have, and it's
- 38:11Speaker 3: getting borderline horder line now. But I will get those
- 38:14Speaker 3: beautiful photograph ones of families and their children, right, and
- 38:18Speaker 3: some of them are so beautiful and.
- 38:19Speaker 2: Fun and I put them.
- 38:21Speaker 3: I have my date book becomes a scrapbook. Okay, I
- 38:24Speaker 3: should gift you with one of those, but they're too precious.
- 38:27Speaker 3: But I will put They'll tuck them in the pocket
- 38:30Speaker 3: at the back. That's a good idea and my request.
- 38:32Speaker 3: And I'll say this again in public, and my family
- 38:34Speaker 3: knows this when I die, which hopefully.
- 38:36Speaker 2: Will be any day now. Not funny.
- 38:39Speaker 3: I want them all laid out at the memorial service
- 38:41Speaker 3: so people can go through them. Oh, my friend, the
- 38:44Speaker 3: afore mentioned Johnny McGovern He I don't know if I
- 38:47Speaker 3: said that on camera off, but Johnny is charged with
- 38:50Speaker 3: going through them and making sure where I wrote down
- 38:53Speaker 3: fun sexy times things.
- 38:55Speaker 2: Oh sure, look it out completely. It'll be lost to history.
- 39:00Speaker 2: We lost history.
- 39:01Speaker 4: Do that.
- 39:02Speaker 2: It'll be a mind of Johnny McGovern and the you know,
- 39:05Speaker 2: happy you'll have to leave those open for future generation,
- 39:08Speaker 2: the happy pleasures of the boys who that was cut
- 39:12Speaker 2: that out. No, you have got to leave that. You've
- 39:14Speaker 2: got to leave that. That's the fun of looking through
- 39:16Speaker 2: this sort of thing. Okay, well, yeah, all right, some
- 39:19Speaker 2: you have to. The reader has to expect I'm diving
- 39:22Speaker 2: into Sam's personal life. Who knows what I'm going to learn.
- 39:25Speaker 3: Well, it'll just be the guy's name, and it'll be like, uh,
- 39:29Speaker 3: not a grade because I'm all left, believe me, but
- 39:32Speaker 3: I just it'll be like a little smiley or harder,
- 39:35Speaker 3: like some little dirty thing.
- 39:36Speaker 2: You have to leave that. Why am I telling you
- 39:38Speaker 2: this so I can argue for you to keep it?
- 39:41Speaker 3: Okay, done, I'm easily sway. And you gotta get a
- 39:45Speaker 3: hat on your shoulders, do you have a Christmas tree?
- 39:47Speaker 3: Do you do Christmas tree?
- 39:49Speaker 2: I when my boyfriend's here, will do it when he's not.
- 39:54Speaker 2: This year, I always it been Rocky's Street, in and out. Listen,
- 39:59Speaker 2: I've been there screaming matches. No, he's been living in
- 40:02Speaker 2: New York. But so this year, about December fifteenth, I said,
- 40:07Speaker 2: there are no Christmas decorations whatsoever. This is a This
- 40:12Speaker 2: is kind of a dark thing for a person to
- 40:13Speaker 2: be living in a house with nothing. So I put
- 40:15Speaker 2: some Christmas lights around like a house. I mean, this
- 40:18Speaker 2: isn't getting any college dorm how but do you have
- 40:21Speaker 2: like a like a pyramid of bud light cans too,
- 40:25Speaker 2: with a mistletoe on top? This is actually wait, worst
- 40:28Speaker 2: it is. No, that's grim And I don't mean it's
- 40:34Speaker 2: seen it Sam, it was. It was. It was more
- 40:36Speaker 2: charming than you would I believe. I put some along
- 40:38Speaker 2: the top of the piano. I put some on some shelves.
- 40:41Speaker 2: I just didn't put up a tree because I don't
- 40:43Speaker 2: have to strike. And you know, the the payoff is
- 40:47Speaker 2: not worth it for me.
- 40:48Speaker 3: I understand. I've done years without a Christmas tree, and
- 40:51Speaker 3: I do it now because I finally switched to artificial
- 40:56Speaker 3: after years of holding out, and I went to Low's
- 40:58Speaker 3: because my place is my little tiny house and not
- 41:01Speaker 3: a tiny house, but like my house is small. And
- 41:02Speaker 3: I got this thick on the pencil tree and loaves
- 41:05Speaker 3: which is thinner.
- 41:06Speaker 2: Oh, it takes a less space. And the lights.
- 41:10Speaker 3: The lights were always the biggest fight.
- 41:12Speaker 2: When I was a child. I don't know why.
- 41:13Speaker 3: Putting the Christmas tree lights up was always like battle
- 41:16Speaker 3: ground central.
- 41:17Speaker 2: Everyone wanted to do it. I just remember, I don't know,
- 41:21Speaker 2: I hate doing that.
- 41:22Speaker 3: I hate doing it too. And this was olden times.
- 41:24Speaker 3: You couldn't run down to target and get a new string.
- 41:27Speaker 3: You unwrapped like what was leftover from last year and
- 41:30Speaker 3: pray they all worked. And it was also it was
- 41:33Speaker 3: a struggle for control for sure of each other siblings.
- 41:37Speaker 2: But what was my point? Oh, this has the lights
- 41:40Speaker 2: on it built in. He built in very nice white,
- 41:44Speaker 2: a colored.
- 41:45Speaker 3: I just went white. I wish they were a little
- 41:47Speaker 3: more golden.
- 41:48Speaker 2: Go oh yeah, if they're a little blue, it starts
- 41:51Speaker 2: to feel like it's too it's a little vape store,
- 41:54Speaker 2: you know what I mean, Yes, I do.
- 41:56Speaker 3: It's that led harshness. It's just like it's not warm.
- 42:01Speaker 2: Add a little yellow to that little or something I do.
- 42:04Speaker 3: My sister does both, and I that's confusing the migraine.
- 42:08Speaker 3: But like she, they have a beautiful tree.
- 42:10Speaker 2: Okay, I like a color or a warm white.
- 42:15Speaker 3: I missed the big blockie bulbs that were uh colored.
- 42:20Speaker 3: They don't have them anymore. I don't think they make
- 42:22Speaker 3: them anymore. That's like literally from the sixties and seventies.
- 42:25Speaker 2: Like the ones that were quite large, yes, that you
- 42:27Speaker 2: would put like almost on a roof. Yeah, oh yeah,
- 42:30Speaker 2: I love. They must still make them somewhere artistically, probably
- 42:35Speaker 2: the ones I don't like her. Have you ever seen
- 42:36Speaker 2: the ones they hang from the roof that are like icicles? Yeah,
- 42:39Speaker 2: they don't. It doesn't look like an icicle to me.
- 42:41Speaker 3: I'm sorry to tell you, though, I kind of don't
- 42:43Speaker 3: mind them in the right place.
- 42:45Speaker 2: And I haven't seen it yet. I believe me.
- 42:46Speaker 3: I was raised to like, do not be tacky. When
- 42:48Speaker 3: you said called me tacky earlier about destroyed me. But
- 42:51Speaker 3: I was like, my, the things the worst thing you
- 42:54Speaker 3: could be with taky, And so I got an eye
- 42:57Speaker 3: out for taky and in the good tacky and the
- 42:59Speaker 3: bad tacking.
- 43:00Speaker 2: And I know that, but I like that Tachy, you
- 43:01Speaker 2: like that, Tachy. I keep thinking I see a cat
- 43:03Speaker 2: come up the driveway, and I realized the cats come
- 43:08Speaker 2: back here. And the other night there was a skunk.
- 43:10Speaker 2: Oh my god, it was incredible to see it.
- 43:13Speaker 3: I woke up at four am a few nights ago
- 43:14Speaker 3: because my place it was there was a skunk right
- 43:16Speaker 3: outside and it was so strong. I woke up and
- 43:18Speaker 3: couldn't get back to sleep.
- 43:20Speaker 2: Yeah, it was like permeating the walls. Yes, good grief. Yeah,
- 43:23Speaker 2: it was bad. Well, I was really through a big
- 43:27Speaker 2: French window kind of a situation. Was that I live
- 43:31Speaker 2: in a shed. Basically, have you ever were around Valentine's
- 43:36Speaker 2: I imagine this will be released after but do you
- 43:38Speaker 2: have any memorable Valentine's stories? Oh god, I am not.
- 43:45Speaker 3: I remember good ones when I was with somebody, somebody.
- 43:48Speaker 2: I have more that.
- 43:49Speaker 3: It's like, it just feels like an assault on the
- 43:51Speaker 3: sense of just you know, on your single.
- 43:54Speaker 2: Um right right? Oh man?
- 43:57Speaker 3: I I know I have when it's not popping up
- 43:59Speaker 3: in the magic eight ball of my brain.
- 44:01Speaker 2: Not a big deal.
- 44:02Speaker 3: But I've had some. I've had some nice ones. Yeah,
- 44:05Speaker 3: And you've done the thing where I've done the thing.
- 44:07Speaker 3: Have we done the thing of like hanging in there
- 44:09Speaker 3: with someone until after or breaking up with them before.
- 44:13Speaker 2: I think the move is to break up with them
- 44:15Speaker 2: on the day.
- 44:16Speaker 3: It's the best way. I remember at one point meeting
- 44:19Speaker 3: someone on Valentine's Day, and I remember, now, yeah, because
- 44:23Speaker 3: I've it's been I'm old, it's been a it's been
- 44:25Speaker 3: a long, a long long life.
- 44:28Speaker 2: So who it was, whoever I was in love with
- 44:31Speaker 2: that year is gone to the missive time. Well, this
- 44:37Speaker 2: is some very nice paper, Jim will appreciate. Okay, good.
- 44:40Speaker 2: There's not a single S in my name, and I
- 44:43Speaker 2: really tried to look for one. I tried to even
- 44:46Speaker 2: Bridge or Bridgers, and I was almost going to google
- 44:50Speaker 2: your middle Day and I was like, oh wait, Jimmy specula.
- 44:53Speaker 2: It's Maagoulagoula is that it's Polish, although it's weird, sounds
- 44:58Speaker 2: weirdly like cartoonishly Italian.
- 45:00Speaker 3: Yeah. Also, it could be in the world of like
- 45:02Speaker 3: when like Francis Forcoppolar that new nos Frazer is.
- 45:05Speaker 2: Like Gula, Yesla Gula.
- 45:08Speaker 3: Is someone with an interesting name. I'm very sensitive.
- 45:12Speaker 2: To these, of course. Likewise, but wait, have you had
- 45:15Speaker 2: a memorable Valentine's day, not a good memorable Valentine's Day
- 45:19Speaker 2: or like, the only good one that I've had was
- 45:22Speaker 2: not actually really connected to Valentine's because my second date
- 45:24Speaker 2: with Gym was on Valentine's by accident. Nice, but that
- 45:27Speaker 2: was like not a Valentine's a situation. The other two are,
- 45:30Speaker 2: you know, working at a restaurant on Valentine's and it's
- 45:32Speaker 2: probably the hardest I've ever worked, thinking the whole night
- 45:36Speaker 2: what am I gonna buy with all this tip money?
- 45:38Speaker 2: And then get to the end of the night and
- 45:39Speaker 2: it's like less than on a normal night because really cheap,
- 45:43Speaker 2: horrible people. Wow, was this the New Yorker here? This
- 45:46Speaker 2: was in Salt Lake, Okay. And then the other one
- 45:50Speaker 2: is when I was dating a woman and if we
- 45:51Speaker 2: ended up at an improv show, can you imagine anything
- 45:55Speaker 2: more romantic? I cannot.
- 45:58Speaker 3: You could drag me through a swamp and fill all
- 46:01Speaker 3: my body orifices with creosote and I couldn't imagine.
- 46:08Speaker 2: I don't know what that was. Hot, hot, hot hot
- 46:12Speaker 2: creosote as felt roof tar. Yeah, those are men. Like
- 46:20Speaker 2: I said, I have a wife named Candace. I've dated
- 46:23Speaker 2: two women, and Candy was my second. Uh, the second girlfriend.
- 46:27Speaker 2: Really no, I.
- 46:28Speaker 3: See I should have dated Candy because she'd be can't
- 46:30Speaker 3: buried Candy.
- 46:31Speaker 2: Pete talks about you, Candy, pan Candy, pancake is it's delicious.
- 46:36Speaker 2: What is your mom's maiden name? Lecky Lecky l E
- 46:40Speaker 2: c k I E.
- 46:40Speaker 3: It's in Irish and there's a town, you know, like
- 46:42Speaker 3: every single Irish and they're like, there's a town in
- 46:44Speaker 3: Ireland named Lecky there is.
- 46:46Speaker 2: Do you ever get people like trying to like not
- 46:48Speaker 2: say pancake. What do they say?
- 46:51Speaker 3: Well, there's there's a lot of like how do you
- 46:53Speaker 3: spell that? And I'm like, just the way you eat it,
- 46:55Speaker 3: that's just that's what it is. But there'll be people
- 46:58Speaker 3: like panch and like they're trying to make it like
- 47:01Speaker 3: not pancakes. Yeah, yeah, yes, that's for sure. Well fon
- 47:06Speaker 3: Kuchen is the German. But people will go into, you know,
- 47:11Speaker 3: twist themselves into trying not to acknowledge that it's pancake
- 47:14Speaker 3: for my soul, that I haven't suffered with that name
- 47:17Speaker 3: my entire life.
- 47:19Speaker 2: But like, and these are like.
- 47:20Speaker 3: People who speaking this isn't like someone who might be
- 47:22Speaker 3: a foreign word to them.
- 47:23Speaker 2: No, No, there's they're just I got a million. That's
- 47:28Speaker 2: my other big story is as you can them getting
- 47:31Speaker 2: back to the Seliact be shocked, which guess what's made
- 47:35Speaker 2: of gluten pancakes? Can they make a decent gluten free pancake?
- 47:39Speaker 3: Great news, they do, and the best pancakes are gluten free.
- 47:42Speaker 3: And speaking of Trader Joe's not a sponsor, they're little
- 47:45Speaker 3: gluten free pancakes that come frozen are delicious.
- 47:48Speaker 2: Oh, my sister Celiact. OK, so this is a good Yeah,
- 47:53Speaker 2: I will say a gluten free brownie mm hmm almost
- 47:57Speaker 2: always good. Yeah, fudgy, it's yeah, which was what I
- 48:01Speaker 2: want out of a brownie anyway.
- 48:02Speaker 3: Exactly, Yes, yeah, you cannot. Yeah, that's the way to go.
- 48:06Speaker 3: Flowerless chocolate cake, which you know was so like the
- 48:10Speaker 3: modern in the eighties and it's it's basically a brownie.
- 48:13Speaker 2: H yeah, of course, but I miss a lot of stuff.
- 48:16Speaker 2: It's been my life.
- 48:19Speaker 3: Twenty eighteen, they were doing and this again sorry if
- 48:23Speaker 3: you've for this hilarious story before, but they were doing mccollunoscopy.
- 48:29Speaker 2: It's just gets better and better.
- 48:31Speaker 3: And they were checking because I've had acid reflux since
- 48:34Speaker 3: the nineties and they were half strung. They called me
- 48:38Speaker 3: as a child. They were doing an endoscopy and I
- 48:41Speaker 3: went back into my doctor to say, like, what happened.
- 48:43Speaker 2: To see the results?
- 48:44Speaker 3: Expecting like polyps galore, right, und my favorite super villain
- 48:52Speaker 3: it's Pussy Glory's sister James Bond. Anyway, uh, pollups Glora.
- 48:57Speaker 3: And I know I was expecting polls glore because bag
- 49:02Speaker 3: this is an Appalachian country southern boy who ate that
- 49:06Speaker 3: just meat meat.
- 49:07Speaker 2: Meat can't be beat. And then and he.
- 49:10Speaker 3: And the doctor was like, you have CELIACX and was
- 49:11Speaker 3: like it was the last thing I expected.
- 49:13Speaker 2: Wow, I was glue me.
- 49:15Speaker 3: My older sister and I we both used to be
- 49:17Speaker 3: like gluten free people. I would be I would say,
- 49:19Speaker 3: I'm gluten full.
- 49:20Speaker 2: And it really came back for you. Yeah, I really did.
- 49:24Speaker 3: And I was because I give it up drugs and alcohol, smoking.
- 49:29Speaker 3: And I was like, are you fucking kidding me?
- 49:31Speaker 2: God? Are you there?
- 49:33Speaker 1: God?
- 49:33Speaker 3: It's me Celia. I don't know who that is, but
- 49:42Speaker 3: that's that's my new character.
- 49:43Speaker 2: That is a very good character.
- 49:46Speaker 3: But anyway, it's been I it's not this is so
- 49:52Speaker 3: time out for you know, this nightmare. It's the poison
- 49:56Speaker 3: in the round up they put on the wheat in America.
- 49:58Speaker 2: It's that's what it is.
- 49:59Speaker 3: And again, you could have a gluten allergyn wheat allergy,
- 50:01Speaker 3: and wheat sensitivity, all that stuff. My stuff.
- 50:03Speaker 2: I didn't have any symptoms. Is it's so interesting bag
- 50:07Speaker 2: so oh wow. Yeah, my sister had so many that
- 50:09Speaker 2: we but no one could pinpoint it. This is like
- 50:12Speaker 2: in two thousand and nine, I think we all started thinking, oh,
- 50:15Speaker 2: she's like losing her mind, which what a nightmare for her. Yeah. Completely,
- 50:19Speaker 2: but you were just living fancy free.
- 50:21Speaker 3: I started having really bad itching and outdrift, which I
- 50:24Speaker 3: never had. It was like if the flower was coming
- 50:26Speaker 3: through me. It was so fucking creepy. But that was
- 50:29Speaker 3: the last few months, and so I was happy to
- 50:31Speaker 3: have that sorted out because the dermatologists were like, we
- 50:33Speaker 3: don't know, just drink more water, and I'm like, I
- 50:35Speaker 3: couldn't possibly.
- 50:36Speaker 2: Drink more water. Yeah I am water.
- 50:38Speaker 3: I anyways, I'm like Houdini in a tank all day long,
- 50:42Speaker 3: a drix. It was fucking water, and so.
- 50:44Speaker 2: I it was good to know that.
- 50:48Speaker 3: My here's the important thing that people in my PSA
- 50:52Speaker 3: is if you're me and I could eat like a
- 50:55Speaker 3: piece of cake right now and be fine. I don't
- 50:59Speaker 3: have any digestive easiness that is really bad like most people.
- 51:03Speaker 3: But if you keep ingesting it because it's the villa
- 51:06Speaker 3: I and your small intestine, it shuts it down. You
- 51:08Speaker 3: can't get your nutrients. And so the real kicker when
- 51:11Speaker 3: I went to the doctors, like, they were like, you
- 51:12Speaker 3: have them absorbing your nutrients or medications?
- 51:16Speaker 2: Wow for adult life. Wow.
- 51:20Speaker 3: And so I said, is that why? And I wasn't
- 51:22Speaker 3: being funny because meth is hilarious. I was like, is
- 51:25Speaker 3: this why I did maybe do so much drugs? I
- 51:27Speaker 3: never felt right and they were like, my energy levels
- 51:30Speaker 3: were so messed up? Why was trying to just feel
- 51:34Speaker 3: I did drugs and drank and did like unprescribed pills
- 51:37Speaker 3: to feel normal.
- 51:38Speaker 2: Wow.
- 51:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I just feel like kind of a or to
- 51:41Speaker 3: feel joyful, to feel you know. And and I didn't
- 51:43Speaker 3: have depression, and there was we were trying. I was
- 51:45Speaker 3: always trying to figure things out. Plus it messes up
- 51:47Speaker 3: your hormones because my sex drive was super low.
- 51:50Speaker 2: And this cured that, okay, to the degree that I'm
- 51:53Speaker 2: almost like Saltpeter, someone makes me a Saltpeter brownie. I thought,
- 51:59Speaker 2: you know, do you have that thing again?
- 52:02Speaker 3: I'm old, Like there was all this like hacky comedy. Wait,
- 52:07Speaker 3: let me finish the same about celax is. You could
- 52:09Speaker 3: have it not know it, and if you don't do
- 52:11Speaker 3: something about it, you can get dementia.
- 52:13Speaker 2: MS. Yes, it can really cause uh, nervous system issues.
- 52:17Speaker 3: Completely and hormone get checked and everything you should because
- 52:19Speaker 3: it's genetic. And we think my father had it because
- 52:21Speaker 3: he died of dementia.
- 52:22Speaker 2: Scared to find out that I do have it.
- 52:24Speaker 3: No, honey, but let me tell you it's You'll feel
- 52:26Speaker 3: so much better. I feel like my life started. This
- 52:29Speaker 3: is so corny and so movie of the week, but
- 52:31Speaker 3: like I feel like my life started once when I
- 52:34Speaker 3: was born, uh, and then again when I got sober.
- 52:37Speaker 3: This is I don't mean to sound like you know, lifetime,
- 52:39Speaker 3: but like uh or you know some chlorous Leachman movie
- 52:42Speaker 3: in the seventies about STIs, but like, and then when
- 52:46Speaker 3: I got gluten free, and then when I last week
- 52:49Speaker 3: on drazadone. Honey, let me tell you, I like whoever
- 52:53Speaker 3: she is. But what was I saying about Hackey comedy?
- 52:58Speaker 2: Oh that's me, that's all. Yeah, you're just kind of
- 53:00Speaker 2: self identified as if anyone needed me to.
- 53:06Speaker 3: I there was a there was like it was a
- 53:08Speaker 3: thing back in the sixties and seventies.
- 53:10Speaker 2: I feel like like these men were like the.
- 53:12Speaker 3: Wife was to have sex, but I don't want to
- 53:14Speaker 3: not tonight. Like the women was like I have a headache,
- 53:16Speaker 3: but like it was the mister Roper syndrome.
- 53:18Speaker 2: Okay, where he was she was missus.
- 53:19Speaker 3: Ropers, always trying to like enchant him with her caft
- 53:22Speaker 3: hand and read minx orphan Annie sixty wig and then
- 53:28Speaker 3: he was like ah, but he was like, oh, Chrissy
- 53:30Speaker 3: snow hubba hubba. But there was all this Like I
- 53:32Speaker 3: thought that like the sex drive tapered off, right, but
- 53:36Speaker 3: it's not been my experience.
- 53:37Speaker 2: I don't think that's true for men exactly for some men.
- 53:40Speaker 3: And then someone told me, I don't remember who it is.
- 53:42Speaker 3: It's probably good that I don't remember because people might
- 53:45Speaker 3: not like this. But like someone said, it's because they
- 53:47Speaker 3: were tired of fucking their wives.
- 53:49Speaker 2: It wasn't about right sex drive. It was about the
- 53:52Speaker 2: marriage right. And I'm sure the women were tired of
- 53:55Speaker 2: the horrible husband. Oh my Christ.
- 53:57Speaker 3: Can you imagine like someone like Jack Carr her crawling
- 54:00Speaker 3: up Joey's.
- 54:02Speaker 2: Bishop mean man. Do you like my references from the.
- 54:05Speaker 3: Fifties, Keith, I can't.
- 54:10Speaker 2: Norm Crosbie, Norman fell Ernest bog nine. These are my lovers,
- 54:18Speaker 2: these are my memories. Well, is there anything left to
- 54:22Speaker 2: say about? Remind me his name?
- 54:25Speaker 3: Telly savalis Tellyalis Now you're young, but I think a
- 54:30Speaker 3: lot of your people will know who he is. I
- 54:32Speaker 3: here's the thing about a familiar to me. He you're
- 54:35Speaker 3: I'm not going to ask you your age on camera,
- 54:37Speaker 3: but he was big in the seventies.
- 54:38Speaker 2: Which she was born was not? No? Dare you yeah?
- 54:42Speaker 2: And elis you were born like last year? I can?
- 54:44Speaker 2: I can see I was born in nineteen thirty five.
- 54:46Speaker 3: She is, he's a depression baby.
- 54:48Speaker 2: Lash Why she's her bones are so crumpled, silent generation
- 54:53Speaker 2: she speaks up.
- 54:55Speaker 3: I'm not so silent right now. H My dad was
- 55:00Speaker 3: born in thirty four thirty four?
- 55:03Speaker 2: Is there anything left to say about either of these
- 55:04Speaker 2: categories before we move on? I'm trying to think if
- 55:07Speaker 2: I've any other questions about Tally Telly tally e.
- 55:11Speaker 3: L L y, Which is that short thing V A
- 55:14Speaker 3: L A S It's he's Greek, so it's probably like,
- 55:17Speaker 3: why don't we google it? Yeah, we feel about there's
- 55:20Speaker 3: no way to know, you'll have to take it on faith. Well,
- 55:24Speaker 3: he I never put together that his name is Telly
- 55:26Speaker 3: and he was in the television.
- 55:27Speaker 5: It's primarily it's like a diminutive form of Aristotle or
- 55:32Speaker 5: oh Aristoteles.
- 55:34Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, Aristotle is a good name for a hot guy. Yeah.
- 55:39Speaker 3: Wait, which one was the simpos plant thing in Plato?
- 55:42Speaker 2: I think in Plato? Oh Plato, sure different.
- 55:46Speaker 3: Aristotle Socrates was gay.
- 55:48Speaker 2: I think they were. Come on, well that's the Greek.
- 55:51Speaker 3: The thing is, they all had their young gentleman friends.
- 55:54Speaker 2: It was a gay society.
- 55:56Speaker 3: It was I I feel like, as you you know,
- 56:00Speaker 3: there was a time when I'm a gay man of
- 56:04Speaker 3: a certain age, and like a lot of my friends died,
- 56:06Speaker 3: you know, you know, hilarious, but like there was a
- 56:08Speaker 3: time when like we didn't know what was going to happen,
- 56:10Speaker 3: and people did die, and so I wasn't always there
- 56:13Speaker 3: wasn't always one hundred percent that I was going to
- 56:15Speaker 3: make it right. So terrifying, and that's all true of anybody,
- 56:18Speaker 3: because you know, so I didn't I remember knowing when
- 56:23Speaker 3: I was little that I went.
- 56:24Speaker 2: And help here it comes. Well, you can google me.
- 56:25Speaker 3: I'm going to turn. You know, I'll be thirty five
- 56:27Speaker 3: in the year two thousand when that happens. So I
- 56:32Speaker 3: knew that, and I didn't think beyond it, beyond right,
- 56:34Speaker 3: and so I never thought about sixty, which is I'm there,
- 56:36Speaker 3: it is, I'm sixty. Oh my gosh, thank you, thank you.
- 56:41Speaker 2: I come. Don't look too close, just like they're wrapping
- 56:44Speaker 2: on that gift. Don't get too close. You're a foot
- 56:47Speaker 2: away from me. You look right, What are you talking about?
- 56:50Speaker 2: It's these lights, thank you. A lot of that is
- 56:53Speaker 2: the freaking Celia, Celia. It helped. Okay.
- 56:56Speaker 3: Also it's some of his genetics. And there's a lot
- 56:58Speaker 3: of maintenance. But like you realize so slowly, because I do,
- 57:02Speaker 3: like a lot of my friends are young, and I
- 57:03Speaker 3: do have a lot of energy for my age in general,
- 57:05Speaker 3: and I tried to keep my mind fresh and alive.
- 57:08Speaker 2: And open right right, and but I some things do
- 57:12Speaker 2: slip away.
- 57:13Speaker 3: And the certainty always had about like these cultural references
- 57:17Speaker 3: for my people, because you like, I'm with you and
- 57:19Speaker 3: I feel like we're the same age.
- 57:20Speaker 2: But like I think, I feel like you're very I mean,
- 57:23Speaker 2: you're a very young person. I mean. And that's also
- 57:26Speaker 2: the weird thing. I think, like as we were growing up,
- 57:29Speaker 2: we were told like after sixty, that's an old person.
- 57:32Speaker 2: That's just not true anymore.
- 57:33Speaker 3: Well, just like you think of Granny on Beverly Hillbillies. Again,
- 57:36Speaker 3: my references are on point today today's infos. But like
- 57:41Speaker 3: you would see when I was young, you'd have like
- 57:43Speaker 3: people who it was the white haired in a bun
- 57:46Speaker 3: on the rocking chair. And now we have share right,
- 57:49Speaker 3: who's seventy eight or nine? And Dolly Parton, who will
- 57:52Speaker 3: be eighty next year. Yes, and again there's you know,
- 57:55Speaker 3: thank you science and cinemagic, but like it's they're not.
- 57:59Speaker 3: I guess I don't have old people, but I go
- 58:01Speaker 3: to my hometown.
- 58:02Speaker 2: Oh right, right, maybe you do too, Yes, this is
- 58:05Speaker 2: it's a different thing.
- 58:07Speaker 3: And I also love that those people are just aging
- 58:11Speaker 3: like they age and doing what they.
- 58:12Speaker 2: Do right, But I don't think I think they're kind
- 58:15Speaker 2: of on the opposite side of it, because there are
- 58:17Speaker 2: plenty of people in stut like that are I think
- 58:19Speaker 2: taking care of themselves and like are aging really well?
- 58:23Speaker 2: I mean, but then you do see people where you're like,
- 58:25Speaker 2: oh my god, like you're my age, or like, oh
- 58:28Speaker 2: that too. Yeah, you know, it's like, yeah, it's I saw.
- 58:31Speaker 2: Oh I'm not going to say this.
- 58:33Speaker 3: I just see people and I can't They're unrecognizable and
- 58:36Speaker 3: they come up to me because I'm frozen in time
- 58:38Speaker 3: and they're like sium and I'm like, I don't know.
- 58:40Speaker 2: They don't know get.
- 58:41Speaker 3: Away from me exactly. Yeah, well yeah, but I them
- 58:44Speaker 3: to the ground.
- 58:45Speaker 2: You don't have the thing of like it's me.
- 58:48Speaker 3: Oh sure, you just know that it's anyway think Jigsaw
- 58:51Speaker 3: or whatever you know, or in your town.
- 58:55Speaker 2: They don't notice. Say that a Richard Scary book.
- 58:59Speaker 3: Me lowly worm, but like they don't know to say,
- 59:03Speaker 3: and I talk for everyone. I'm saying I'm sorry, and
- 59:05Speaker 3: they're like, oh, you're too big for your Bircheskay.
- 59:08Speaker 4: You know Ricky Lee, you know Kidnap or whatever, Ricky Lee, kidnapp,
- 59:17Speaker 4: moonshine injection.
- 59:20Speaker 2: You know all the the West Virginia is gonna cancel me.
- 59:23Speaker 2: Do it? Do it? I think we should play a game.
- 59:27Speaker 3: Oh I forgot about the games. What I'm gonna do?
- 59:30Speaker 2: I need a number between one and ten from you.
- 59:32Speaker 2: Three Do you have a preference on games. We have
- 59:35Speaker 2: Gift of a Curse or Gift Master. I want to
- 59:37Speaker 2: do Gift a Curse. Okay, beautiful because I have a
- 59:39Speaker 2: lot of questions. Okay, gorgeous, let me get our game pieces.
- 59:43Speaker 2: I'm gonna do some like calculating so you can promote,
- 59:45Speaker 2: recommend to whatever you want. Okay, you go do that.
- 59:50Speaker 3: If things go to plan. I'm doing one of my
- 59:53Speaker 3: solo shows. Well, there's a couple of guest stars in
- 59:55Speaker 3: it called Pancakes from the Edge on March fourteenth and
- 59:59Speaker 3: Palm Springs at Diedle Art. And it's a solo show
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: that I did here in La a couple of years ago,
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: where it's based around my obsession with postcards from the Edge.
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: That's why it's called Pancakes from the Edge, and it's characters.
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: It's these video, these lip sync videos I did from
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: the movie me playing Meryl Streep and Shirley McLain.
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: And that's then.
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: You can always check my Instagram to see what other
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: shows are coming up. It works been slow, as we know,
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: but I I did last year an episode of A
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: Just Like That and The Great North, and those should
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: be coming up in the next few months. I guess
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: I'll always pitch my bestie ros Hernandez ghosted podcast and
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: exactly right network it's.
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: A sister podcast it is. Yeah, did you promote like
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: just following you on Instagram or whatever?
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: Yeah, Instagram can follow me. And I have a podcast
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: I forgot. It's called Sam Pancake Presents the Monday Afternoon
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: Movie and you have to come do it.
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: I was just talking to Drew Jogi about this, and
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: that's right. I mean it sounds like an incredible podcast about.
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: Again seventies and eighties TV movies and Jolden Air a
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: few times yep, yep. And I was listening to that
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: and you were talking about seventies movies. I'm like, if
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: true doesn't bring up my podcast.
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: I to betrayal that one cross and he did so
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: a very very nice little ad for you, Etha based Yeah,
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: I want to come on it. Okay, this is how
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: we play Gift a Curse. Yes, I'm going to name
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: three things. You'll tell me if there are a gift
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: or a curse and why, and then I'll tell you
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: if you're right or wrong, because there are correct answers
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: and you can fail.
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: Yes, that's what I'm used to.
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: Shoot. Okay. This first one is from a listener named
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: Odra Gift a curse fancy restaurants that don't accept reservations?
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: Is it a gifter curse for me or for the her? Now, Sam,
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: that's up to you. Oh okay, so funny.
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: Her name is Odre because Odra Lindley played Missus Roper
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: on Three's Company, which I was referencing earlier. I see
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: these patterns. That means something's wrong with my brain.
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: That means someone see.
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: I think it's a curse for me because you have
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: to line up there and you know. But once you
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: get in there and you've like managed to get in
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: the hip cool restaurant without a reservation, you can be
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: bragging rights about it.
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: But I think it's a curse. Wrong. No, I think
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: it's like according to a universal truth. Wow, he is Mormon,
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: isn't he. I absolutely hate a reservation. I don't have
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: the time or the patience or the wherewithal to get
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: a reservation. So to just have get those off the table,
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: I just have to show up at the restaurant with that,
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: and I and I might be able to get in.
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: You might, you might not.
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: Well, and you made the truths the risk I'm willing
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: to take. Okay, I don't want to have to get
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: on rezie or open tape and be denied because the
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: restaurants you really want to get a reservation too, on
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: those things are impossible. Anyway, that's true. That is true.
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: The secret to all of this stuff is have go
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: with the famous person.
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: Yeah, and you and I both know that's true. Yes,
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: you just go with a famous person. Everyone find your
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: famous person.
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: I find your famous person. There's one around the house.
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: Might tell us all us our friend Aristotle Spedo over there.
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: No, I love to I love any restaurant that doesn't
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: have a reservation.
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: I think it's great. And they're They're not all fancy
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: fufy you know, hip restaurants either. There's some just like
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: mom and pop places that are just really good and
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: they don't take reservations. And I love that because you
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: can usually get in.
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: It really levels the playing field between people who are
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: in control of their lives and people like me who
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: are not. And so I can just wander up having
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: made no plan and it may not work out, and
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: then I'll just keep living my life that way because
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: I can't learn a lesson. But at least I didn't
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: have to get on a website to make the reservation.
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: That is, you're doing everything right. It's all right here,
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: it's all I'm hearing. All right? Do you have gotten
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: zero so far? This next one is from a listener
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: named Meg Gift. He a curse green bell peppers. I see,
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: I suffer.
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: I suffer from seeing all sides of a story in
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: all angles. I love a green bell pepper chopped up
- 1:04:12Speaker 3: on a pizza. I think you're gonna say curse, though
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: I'm trying to second guess you, which is not the point,
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: And now my brain is again wrapping itself in prettels.
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: But I'm gonna say gift. I'm gonna follow my heart.
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: You get the point. I love a green belt pepper.
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: I don't know why people don't like a green belt
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: pet don't either, I will say, I prefer a raw
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: green and bell pepper. Oh yeah, definitely snap the crunch
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: me too. Delicious. They taste so healthy? Do they taste healthy?
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: They taste good?
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: I don't mind cutting them up if you get all
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: the little guts out of there, I love to. I'll
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: get a gluten for us gluten free frozen pizza sometimes
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: and I will dress it up with chopped up green
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: bell pepper and mushrooms that I've sauteed and sausage and stuff.
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: I don't understand why anyone wouldn't want them on their
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: pizza for a little extra snap. But yes, you're right,
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: they have to be raw because I don't care for
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: the They can get slimy, and if you get or
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: whatever that he starts to get kind of slimy.
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: Wormy, wormy, yeahly wormy, a little too wormy. And I
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: don't really have a preference among the color, like the red,
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: the yellow, the orange, the green. I think they're all
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: a good pepper, but they all taste a little bit different. Jo,
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: but you know that they're all the same pepper, just
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: different levels of ripeness. That's not true. And now that
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: I'm saying, I'm like, that may be wrong, But on
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: Lisa is looking confident.
- 1:05:32Speaker 5: I think I was looking it up, because yes, different
- 1:05:34Speaker 5: colored bell peppers do taste slightly different. With the main
- 1:05:36Speaker 5: difference it does the bell peppers ripen and change color from.
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: Greendible orange and red.
- 1:05:42Speaker 5: They become progressively sweeter so green, they say, has I
- 1:05:46Speaker 5: have a love these flavor profiles green mild, slightly bitter
- 1:05:49Speaker 5: grassy flavor. Yellow and orange sweeter than green with a
- 1:05:52Speaker 5: slightly fruity taste.
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: How dare you?
- 1:05:56Speaker 5: And red the sweetest bell pepper variety considered the most ripe.
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: I didn't know that. This is like coming to a university.
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: These you know, these snobs with their red bell peppers.
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: They're eating just older produce es centrally, They're You're getting
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: in on the ground level. That is so interesting. I
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: truly am kind of bowled over learning something every day.
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: Thank you, thank you, And I love to say something
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: confidently I don't have it be true. What a rare
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: thing for me.
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: It's whining to go college and we're all about to graduate.
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: Okay, you've gotten one so far. And finally this is
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: the listener is unknown. This is I think from an
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: Instagram live. So my apologies to whoever you are. That's
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: you're not my problem. Uh gifter A curse the person
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: you dislike at work discovering your favorite podcast?
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: Oh curse?
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: Why person you like at work?
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: Dislike the person you dislike at work discovering your favorite podcast?
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: Well if they just do they know that you like
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: this podcast?
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: Yeah? They must know, or would and I guess where
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: the information come make the connection.
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: Sure, I think it's a curse because then they want
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: to talk to you more about it. But see, I
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: can also see the gift side, where like maybe you
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: find out you have something in common and you you bridge,
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: you bridge your the gap. That's my next podcast, Bridger
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: the Gap. So you're saying, oh, I hate losing. I
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: told you I feel like a failure, so I had
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: to get on pills. You can't make me feel worse it.
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: I'll take month. Someone had given you a trophy, this
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: would all be solved.
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: I did grow up and that everyone gets a trophy generation.
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: I'm not for wrong with them.
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: Good tonight.
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: I can't even remember the question. I'm really dissociating the
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: person you dislike at work. I don't have a job
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: discovering your favorite podcast.
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: I'm gonna say, curse.
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: Yeah, correct, Oh good, good, good good. The person you
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: don't like it work finding out you finding out that
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: you have anything in common with this person that you
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: actively dislike. It's kind of the This is my big
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: problem with going to a concert. When I go to
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: a concert, there's no worst feeling in the world than
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: looking around and being like I'm like these people, Oh, yes,
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: it happens to me every time, Like what concert, every
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: concert I've ever been to, I'm like, oh, and maybe
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: it's just because I don't like anyone, but I go
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: to these things and I just think I thought that
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: people that listen to this band or this artist were
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: not complete morons, and then you just find out that
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: everyone's an idiot.
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: Well, it happens the worst at Hollywood Bowl because people
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: show up for almost anything the tickets. So you I've
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: just had some really I don't get in fights with
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: people concert. I've had friends that do, and it's gotten
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: real ugly at the Hollywood Bowl.
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: Drunk people, Yeah, with their picnics and just the worst
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: of all time gaze being some of the worst there.
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: I said, we got to get rid of them.
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: Well, guess what have I got great news for you.
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: You're in luck.
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: They're shedding alphabets on the lgbtwo Q website, shed letters. Hooray.
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: I thought things are gonna get better?
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: Is a.
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: Whose that's my concert?
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it's a curse. I, like I said,
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: with the concert situation, finding out that someone you don't
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: like you're similar to them. It's a real look in
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: the mirror, and it's tough. It's a tough pill to swallow.
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: It is. Well, you got two out of three.
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: Is that a win? That's a we're gonna call it
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: a win. I know you need this win tonight, Sam.
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: If I'm not glaring hard enough in middle distance to
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: let you know that I need a win tonight, before
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: recording began, Sam just took me aside and said, I
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: just need a win right now. Any right now is
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: a win. That's literally in your name winninger. Give it
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: to me anything, the smallest winst.
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: Not kidding, it's really what I do need.
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: Now.
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: It's been a we.
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: All do we all threat we are we are, babe,
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: but we're all uh you know, we're all doing this together.
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: Even the coworkers that we dislike that are finding out
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: about that's true. We are. We are in community with them. Yes,
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: we are in community. Okay.
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: This is the final segment of the podcast. People write
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: into I said, no nor dot com begging for answers.
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: Oh my god, I mean you need to win. No,
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: these people need to win. They I'm seeing. Yeah, I
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: am learning something about myself. It could be worse. Will
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: you help me?
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: Answer a question I'd love to.
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: All right, this is a very casual invoice. Put that
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: on my invoice on the tally. Okay, this it's very casual,
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: just as hey doesn't address either of us, which is
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: a little sharp in my opinion. Well, and also again,
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: I'm a southern gentleman manners manager. Yeah, come on, let's
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: get something a little more courteous. But you know, these
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: younger generations, I want a trophy. I want a trophy,
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: and to be mean via email rude. Okay, so this says, Hey,
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: my father and stepmom are planning a party for my
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: younger sister's religious confirmation and her birthday. The problem is
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: that I'm not religious, slash lean pagan, don't slash don't
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: believe in a higher power. I do want to show
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: my sister that I'm supportive of her religion, but I
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: feel like a Jesus themed gift would be inappropriate coming
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: from me and send the wrong message to my stepmom's family. Anyway,
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: She's thirteen with depression and likes reading vampires, vacuuming her
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: strawberry plant. Henry and I scolded my dad for this
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: one law and order SVU. What should I get her?
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: Happening here, and this person is only nineteen. You get
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: that this is a teenager?
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: Right, Yes, that's right. This is like a forty year
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: old woman and talking about her little sister.
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: No, this is this is I saw the tdow.
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: Zoomers?
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: Is that what they're called?
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: I continue? What should I get her for her confirmation
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: slash birthday? And that's from Alison. Let's assume age fifteen.
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: Well, it's great that she's listening to the pot, you know, yeah, welcome,
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: we welcome the young folk. Well I heard Dracula in there, right,
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: did I hear that?
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: Vampires? I mean, I would not be surprised. Let's see,
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: Oh yeah, vampires reading, vacuuming. Okay, this's all go together. Well,
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: there's the gift.
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: There's a gift that works both ways with Jesus or
- 1:12:27Speaker 3: with vampires. And it's called a cross. And you just
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: get a very special kind of goth cross and you
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: hand it to your little sister like wink. But Stepmom's
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: family's like oh as found Christ and Alison and little
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: sis no better, and it's a family bond forever.
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: It's such a perfect I mean, and if you want
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: to just hint a little further push it away you
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: a little bit of garlic?
- 1:12:51Speaker 3: Yeah okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, well yeah, but then that
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: doesn't line up with the religious thing I'm saying if
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: you're trying to get away with I'm imagining a world
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: where they Allison wants to be like, not rock the
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: boat or upset the family.
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: How is a cape going to rock the boat? She
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: can wear that to church? Oh yeah, that's true. Okay,
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: fair enough, Just a really fancy black cape and a
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: gothic cross. Don't you wish you had one? Oh? I
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: wish I was in one? Right now?
- 1:13:16Speaker 3: We next time, both of us in cape? Did you
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: see that non seratu bullshit?
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: You didn't like it?
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: I wanted to like it more. I was very excited.
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: I was kind of like I am meanly, was like,
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: it's just be Anya Taylor Joy. No shade on what's
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: her nuts? But like works some shade But she was good,
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: but like I little dead eyed, but like I and
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: then I looked at it was like, oh, it's supposed
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: to be an you Taylor Joy was there's a flatness
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: to a lot of it. Okay, interesting in the sets,
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: and I clearly I'll never work again, but so why
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: not just rip it all down anyway.
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: You're not gonna be in a Robert Eggers.
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: And also I thought i'd be perfectly cast.
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: He loves flaming homosexual dauncing across the screens. I loved it.
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: I just love a Halloween movie Haunted Castle. That's me too,
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: But that's completely.
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: Me Bridger, and I've seen every vampire iteration millions of times.
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: I set up and watch old Hammer films at night.
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: So I also, I don't know why I thought the
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: story would be a little bit different. I've seen all
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: the versions of nos Forrawto multiple times, that creepy Klauskinsky one.
- 1:14:22Speaker 3: But I was like, oh, I know this story right, nothing,
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: it's a little bit different than I loved. However, Bill Star, Yes,
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: penny Wise, he was amazing. That look was amazing. I
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: loved that he looked like someone who would be from
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: Transylvania that time. Because I read a lot about it,
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: I loved Nicholas Holt.
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: There was a lot I liked it.
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: But then I also was just like, I again, it
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: feels and I'm being sincere. It's like, oh, I'm old.
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: I've kind of seen a lot of this, and I
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: think people who hadn't probably liked it more.
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: Did you see like his other movies like The Witch,
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: the LIGHTHO you didn't see The Lighthouse My House. I
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: really enjoyed it's I mean, it's Bunkers.
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: Right, and it's William Dafoe and Robert Pens screaming each
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: other in black and white.
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: Yeah. So then there's the Northman that not enough Byork
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: for me? Uh, I mean about Byorik appears but not
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: for not enough? Is it Viking? Yeah, it's Viking stuff.
- 1:15:18Speaker 3: I like Robert Edgars and he's a he's he's very
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: good looking. I just was watching interviews with him. He is,
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: he looks like an actor.
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: He's Oh, I have no idea I would expect somebody
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: making those movies to be a troll. He's not what
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: you expect interesting, I mean, and I said that in
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: a good way, because they're very creepy and strange. You
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: don't expect just like a well adjusted, good looking person
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: to be making those films.
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: Well, you know, like John Carpenter.
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: I don't think I've ever ever actually seen John carpenters a.
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: Few people in Hollywood who looks so much. He always
- 1:15:49Speaker 3: looks older than he was.
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: He just looks old.
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: He looks like he just looks really old, right, and
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: he's not a troll. That mean to me, he's a
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: genius and I'm a big horror person.
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: There he is. Okay, Yeah, he's just like a normal
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: man who looks a little older than he looks.
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: He looks like that. He's looked like that since he
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: was like thirty. Wow, very young, John Carpenter. I defy you.
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: I love how little we've answered the I told her,
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: I mean, you got the perfects that I mean. I
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: guess if she wants to be if she wants to
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: say she's show that she's supportive of religion, maybe you
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: get her uh, but she doesn't want to get into
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: it too deep. Maybe she gets her copy of Dianetics
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: or no. Oh, but she got a cool look.
- 1:16:33Speaker 3: That was very okay, Yeah, okay.
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: Yeah, only is showing us kind of a seventies John
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: Carpenter and he's very cool.
- 1:16:40Speaker 3: Yeah that was dark star times. He's movie dark stark.
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: Well, I'm sorry, I forgot about the question. I probably
- 1:16:46Speaker 3: should also be on aderall, but yes, do we There
- 1:16:50Speaker 3: was a lot of information in there, and I got
- 1:16:51Speaker 3: a lot, So maybe Alison the gift would be like,
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: here's how you write an email. Start with dear Bridger
- 1:16:59Speaker 3: and glamorous passion.
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: Show some respect, put some respect on it. I will
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: I won't be here forever, Allison. The answer is the
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: very dark borderline goth cross and an extremely expensive cape
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: that can be used for Halloween or church and a
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: ring of garlic. Dress it up for a church out
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: on Halloween.
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: Alison says she doesn't believe in a higher power, but
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: she's pagan. But isn't pagan? Isn't there their belief about nature?
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: I guess, yeah, believing in is that the mother Gaya?
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: Which is is that a spirit or an energy?
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: An energy? A spirit like a goddess?
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: Yeah, it's less of a like an angry man.
- 1:17:42Speaker 3: Well, that's the thing I learned to remember and rehab
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: speaking of there, like you need to have a higher
- 1:17:47Speaker 3: power if you're going into this. It was twelve step
- 1:17:49Speaker 3: aligned and but the god doesn't and you don't even
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: have to use the word god. But it doesn't have
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: to be the god of your father's And that phrase
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: to me helped me, of course. So she's I think
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: she just means that it's not the God of the fathers.
- 1:18:02Speaker 3: It's like goddess Kaya.
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: Well this, you know, this thirteen year old is watching
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: a lot of Law and Order SVU. She's probably gonna
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: be done with the religious stuff pretty soon.
- 1:18:11Speaker 3: Is she my mother?
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: That's all my mother watches.
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: She won't watch anything I am on. I can tell
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: you that much.
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: That's just true. She said. You know, I like reruns.
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: I like SVU, like watching Hawaii. Have av they do,
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: They love the SVU.
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: I have never done a Law and Order because I've
- 1:18:28Speaker 3: never lived in New York.
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: Oh, you would have been on one hundred episodes by now,
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: I wish.
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, I would have loved it. I have
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: a compared to some of them, and I never did
- 1:18:40Speaker 3: one of those. I did some other ones.
- 1:18:42Speaker 4: I did.
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: NYPD Blue Oh wow, long time ago and it's waning years.
- 1:18:49Speaker 3: And I did without a trace. Okay, I'm sure there's something.
- 1:18:53Speaker 3: There's other ones.
- 1:18:54Speaker 2: I'm forgetting interesting. Well, Alison dot right back in h Sam.
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: But i have these beautiful gifts, one for my boyfriend,
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: but I'll probably use it for my own devices as well.
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: And then I've got this gorgeous, stunning poster that's going
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: to maybeamed poster. We might use it to decorate the studio.
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: Who knows what we'll do with it. Maybe we'll just
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: have it out here in the backyard every time. But
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: what I want for you is to look him up
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: and like watch him a little bit so you have work.
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: I'm going to get to who he is. And I
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: have to imagine I've seen him in something. Sure, sure, yeah,
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: he looks very familiar to me.
- 1:19:27Speaker 3: Feel like he died on the one of those things
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: like they died at fifty eight and you're like, that's
- 1:19:32Speaker 3: so old when you're little, and now you're like, oh
- 1:19:34Speaker 3: my god, young.
- 1:19:35Speaker 2: Somebody dying at fifty eight. That's a tragedy. I know
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: it really is. But he died when he was fifty eight.
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: I don't know that.
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: I just feel like I remember in the span of
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: my life thinking he went before his time. I could
- 1:19:44Speaker 3: be wrong, and we look that up. I have a
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: one question. When is dinner served? Is there a liable?
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: You can't smell it?
- 1:19:50Speaker 3: When's the buffet and I can't smell it is wafting
- 1:19:53Speaker 3: through the air.
- 1:19:54Speaker 2: He was seventy two, which actually is still pretty young.
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: If somebody dies when they're seventy two, now you're like, oh,
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: they probably had at least another ten to fifteen maybe, yeah, okay,
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: and then I'm wrong. I am full on wrong, But
- 1:20:09Speaker 2: I guess seventy two in the probably the nineties. It's
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: true sense.
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: And also because he had that look most of his life,
- 1:20:18Speaker 3: like even from the fifties. I think you his shaved
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: head or bald head or whatever it was.
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: He looks the same for so long. Took everyone by surprise,
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: exactly like Florence Henderson who looked frozen into it. It's incredible.
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: And then she died. It was like she was unfair.
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: Yeah she's forty, such a twist.
- 1:20:34Speaker 3: She was eighty three.
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: Oh Sam, I've had such a good time really, ending
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: on the death was really the best part. Carol Dead,
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: Happy Easter.
