- 0:13Speaker 1: Hello, you guys, Welcome back to another episode of the
- 0:16Speaker 1: Hawkerel Energy Podcast. I'm your host, Kaylie, and this is
- 0:19Speaker 1: your weekly reminder that it's a new day, a new week,
- 0:21Speaker 1: a new mindset, and another day for you to become
- 0:24Speaker 1: the cockrel energy you want to attract. Hello you guys,
- 0:27Speaker 1: Happy Wednesday, Happy Spooky season. We are officially at the
- 0:32Speaker 1: end of October, which is so crazy, and all I'm
- 0:36Speaker 1: thinking about is Halloween, spooky season, getting excited just to
- 0:40Speaker 1: kind of do fun activities before we think about Christmas.
- 0:45Speaker 1: I wanted to have an episode here with my sister,
- 0:48Speaker 1: so Madison is back on the podcast. Hello, welcome back.
- 0:52Speaker 1: We're so happy to have you here. I always love
- 0:55Speaker 1: to have her come the odd time because it's nice
- 0:57Speaker 1: to kind of have a bit of a change. And
- 1:00Speaker 1: you guys know, me and my sister are like always together,
- 1:02Speaker 1: so I know you guys like when we're doing episodes
- 1:05Speaker 1: together and nobody come at us in the comments because
- 1:09Speaker 1: we do have a second mic. We just try to
- 1:11Speaker 1: spend twenty minutes trying to hook this podcast mike up
- 1:13Speaker 1: and we have no idea how to hook it up,
- 1:15Speaker 1: so I'm gonna need Zach to help me. So bear
- 1:18Speaker 1: with us, but we are trying to both speak at
- 1:21Speaker 1: the same volume and hope that it all works out.
- 1:24Speaker 1: So for today's episode, we're going to be talking about
- 1:28Speaker 1: a spooky season bucket list. I feel like these next
- 1:31Speaker 1: two weeks, with it being November first, next Saturday, we
- 1:35Speaker 1: want to try and get in as much fall in
- 1:37Speaker 1: like pumpkin theme, kind of just like spooky season activities
- 1:41Speaker 1: to do maybe for like a girls' night, or to
- 1:44Speaker 1: do with your boyfriend or your husband, just kind of
- 1:48Speaker 1: like fun things you can do maybe at home, or
- 1:50Speaker 1: things you could do in your city. And also talk
- 1:53Speaker 1: about some kind of like health and wellness horror stories
- 1:56Speaker 1: that we both kind of experienced in our past life. Yeah,
- 2:01Speaker 1: and almost like trying to educate you guys to not
- 2:04Speaker 1: do this that we did. If you're someone that might
- 2:07Speaker 1: be starting out their health and wellness journey or maybe
- 2:10Speaker 1: you have similar experiences that we've had, it's kind of
- 2:13Speaker 1: nice just to kind of like talk it out and
- 2:15Speaker 1: be able to relate one hundred percent, just kind of
- 2:18Speaker 1: like relate to our health and wellness horror stories. So
- 2:21Speaker 1: we're gonna get into this episode and start talking about
- 2:23Speaker 1: spooky season bucket list.
- 2:26Speaker 2: So The first thing me and Kayley thought of for
- 2:28Speaker 2: our spooky season bucket lists would be to either paint
- 2:34Speaker 2: or carve pumpkins. I feel like this is just like
- 2:37Speaker 2: a go to when it comes to Halloween, Like you
- 2:42Speaker 2: gotta either paint or carve pumpkins. I feel like carving
- 2:45Speaker 2: pumpkins is like so traditional, but it can also be
- 2:48Speaker 2: really messy and a lot so if you don't like
- 2:54Speaker 2: that whole mess and like, I feel like it's also
- 2:56Speaker 2: a long process just to like get all the seeds
- 2:59Speaker 2: out and all that.
- 3:00Speaker 1: So do you remember we actually did this like three
- 3:03Speaker 1: years ago in this house and we had garbage bags.
- 3:06Speaker 3: Yes, I'm pretty sure it took us like an hour
- 3:09Speaker 3: and a half.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Just to get like all the seas out. Yeah, it's
- 3:13Speaker 2: a bit messy and long. So if that's not for you,
- 3:16Speaker 2: I feel like painting pumpkins is so much easier, and
- 3:20Speaker 2: I feel like you can also do so much more
- 3:22Speaker 2: with it because you know, you can use different colors
- 3:25Speaker 2: and also too, if you're not the best card. I
- 3:29Speaker 2: was just about to say, I feel like any time
- 3:32Speaker 2: I carve a pumpkin, I always mess up, Like I
- 3:36Speaker 2: just like I'll always like trace exactly what I want
- 3:38Speaker 2: to do. I'm like, Okay, this looks perfect, and then
- 3:40Speaker 2: I just somehow mess something up.
- 3:43Speaker 1: It's almost like looking at the Pinterest image and then
- 3:45Speaker 1: what you created and like it's not the same.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Never aligns.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Yeah, it never is.
- 3:50Speaker 2: And I feel like with painting, like it's just so
- 3:52Speaker 2: much easier to cover up a mistake. Like I've painted
- 3:57Speaker 2: pumpkins in the past. I've done like a Frank and
- 4:00Speaker 2: Steying pumpkin. I've done a zombie pumpkin, a vampire pumpkin,
- 4:05Speaker 2: and they come out like so cute, like just so cute.
- 4:08Speaker 2: I remember one year I had these pumpkins that I
- 4:11Speaker 2: painted and I was so proud of myself because they
- 4:14Speaker 2: looked so good, and like I refuse to throw them
- 4:17Speaker 2: out for months, and my parents were like, Maddie, like
- 4:20Speaker 2: we need to throw these out, like it's been so long,
- 4:23Speaker 2: like you need to throw them out. I was like, oh,
- 4:25Speaker 2: so sad. So yeah. But I will say with carving pumpkins,
- 4:28Speaker 2: it's kind of nice when it's like you know, you
- 4:31Speaker 2: have the carving and then you can put like a
- 4:33Speaker 2: little candle in it. Like I feel like you can't
- 4:35Speaker 2: really do that with painting because it's like you can
- 4:37Speaker 2: see inside.
- 4:39Speaker 1: I will say though, that I think the painted pumpkins
- 4:41Speaker 1: are more aesthetic. I do find it gives more of
- 4:43Speaker 1: like a cute see look. Whereas as I said, if
- 4:45Speaker 1: you were not good at carving pumpkins, which I am not, like,
- 4:48Speaker 1: I feel like I've never actually had a I've never
- 4:50Speaker 1: been pumpkin ever. So I feel like if you know
- 4:54Speaker 1: for a fact that it's just not going to be
- 4:56Speaker 1: cute at all, I think you have a better shot
- 4:58Speaker 1: at having a cute pumpkin if you paint. Also, to
- 5:01Speaker 1: add on to that, I feel like if you go
- 5:03Speaker 1: to a pumpkin patch to pick up the pumpkins, it's
- 5:05Speaker 1: ten times more enjoyable too, because you can kind of
- 5:07Speaker 1: make a whole afternoon out of it. So if you
- 5:10Speaker 1: have no plans this weekend on Saturday, you could go
- 5:12Speaker 1: to a pumpkin patch pick out you know, two pumpkins
- 5:15Speaker 1: with your best friend or your boyfriend slash husband, go home,
- 5:19Speaker 1: maybe make a full inspired dinner, and then start carving
- 5:23Speaker 1: your pumpkins or painting your pumpkins with a spooky movie on.
- 5:25Speaker 1: I think that to me is the most perfect spooky
- 5:30Speaker 1: like I think I'm gonna do that this weekend, like,
- 5:31Speaker 1: talk me about it. I'm just like, wait, I need
- 5:33Speaker 1: to do that. That sounds so fun. And then the
- 5:35Speaker 1: next one is a baking night. So I feel like
- 5:38Speaker 1: the Halloween theme cookies are usually out around this time
- 5:41Speaker 1: of the year, So if you go to the grocery store,
- 5:43Speaker 1: usually Pillsbury has a themed pumpkin cookies that you can
- 5:47Speaker 1: pick out. I think they have like pumpkins ghosts, maybe
- 5:51Speaker 1: like haunted houses, which yeah they have, oh, like the
- 5:54Speaker 1: scary cats or something like that. They always have really
- 5:57Speaker 1: interesting ones. But they also usually have like pumpkin spice cookies. Oh,
- 6:02Speaker 1: those are so good. Remember we bought those?
- 6:04Speaker 2: Oh yes, yeah, remember didn't we combine them? Yes?
- 6:08Speaker 1: Oh wait, I forgot about that TikTok trend where they
- 6:10Speaker 1: took the pumpkin spice cookies and then the Halloween theme
- 6:14Speaker 1: with like the pumpkin o. Wha wait, God, I forgot
- 6:18Speaker 1: about that. That's something that's really good. I really like
- 6:22Speaker 1: that too. So yeah, you could pick out a few
- 6:24Speaker 1: cute cookies to pick out at the grocery store, or
- 6:27Speaker 1: you could do homemade cookies. I've seen people do honestly
- 6:31Speaker 1: really crazy things that I've seen on Pinterest, like I've
- 6:33Speaker 1: seen people take like marshmallows dipped it in chocolate to
- 6:36Speaker 1: like make like little ghosts.
- 6:38Speaker 3: Oh cute, yeah, like chocolate ghosts.
- 6:40Speaker 1: I've seen people do like kind of like different like
- 6:43Speaker 1: spooky cocktails that you could make on dress, like witches potion,
- 6:47Speaker 1: like a green drink.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Remember we made that one year?
- 6:50Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 6:51Speaker 3: But was that green drink?
- 6:52Speaker 2: Oh?
- 6:52Speaker 3: Was it green apple juice? No?
- 6:55Speaker 2: No? Did we had color dot or like food?
- 6:57Speaker 3: No, we didn't.
- 6:58Speaker 1: It was literally pure green. I just don't don't remember
- 7:00Speaker 1: what the juice was. But it literally looked like witches potion.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Wasn't it. We made it alcoholic and we added like
- 7:07Speaker 2: green grenadine.
- 7:08Speaker 3: I Oh that's what it was.
- 7:09Speaker 2: You're right, you're right, and we just added like I
- 7:12Speaker 2: think it was like a lemon lime poppy.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Or yeah, true, I think you're right. So there's that
- 7:17Speaker 1: idea too. If you go on Pinterest and just kind
- 7:19Speaker 1: of search like Halloween theme cocktails or Halloween theme desserts
- 7:23Speaker 1: or whatever, there's so many fun creative ideas that you
- 7:26Speaker 1: could do for like a baking night, And you could
- 7:28Speaker 1: also do like a baking night with your friends, which
- 7:29Speaker 1: I think you did recently.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Yeah, so me and my friends we did more of
- 7:33Speaker 2: like a fall baking night, because this was like more
- 7:36Speaker 2: early October, I think late September, and so we all,
- 7:42Speaker 2: there was six of us, we got into like little teams,
- 7:44Speaker 2: and then we all came with our own recipe. So
- 7:48Speaker 2: me and my friend we did like s'more cookies I think,
- 7:51Speaker 2: and then there was also apple cinnamon blondies and cinnamon rolls,
- 7:57Speaker 2: and so we kind of made it a competition, and
- 7:59Speaker 2: like we had my friend's mom try it, her brother
- 8:02Speaker 2: and like picking their favorite. We all each got one
- 8:06Speaker 2: point from like an outside person. So yeah, it was
- 8:09Speaker 2: a really fun little activity and to like have a
- 8:13Speaker 2: little dessert after was like so nice.
- 8:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I love that idea.
- 8:17Speaker 1: So if you have a few friends and you want
- 8:19Speaker 1: to do a little bake off and make it with
- 8:20Speaker 1: like a bit of a spooky theme. I also, oh
- 8:23Speaker 1: my godness, I can't believe forgot about this the candy
- 8:25Speaker 1: salad trend on TikTok.
- 8:27Speaker 3: WHOA, Like I needed to do a spooky night one.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Like there's so many cute like little pumpkin gummies that
- 8:32Speaker 1: you could get and just kind of like throw it
- 8:34Speaker 1: all into a bowl with like different types of Halloween candy.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Go to bulkburn, pick out your favorite different types of treats,
- 8:41Speaker 1: throw it all in a bowl.
- 8:42Speaker 3: I know Zach loves when I make a candy saladies
- 8:45Speaker 3: like this is Heaven.
- 8:46Speaker 2: I also loved what we did last year too, where
- 8:49Speaker 2: we made ghost pizzas.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Yes, that was so oh wait, I love that.
- 8:54Speaker 3: I need to do that again too.
- 8:56Speaker 1: And then you like do the sauce and you can
- 8:58Speaker 1: do like the eyes with like pepperoni, and do like
- 9:01Speaker 1: the cheese.
- 9:02Speaker 3: And make a mouth. Yeah, we should do that. That
- 9:05Speaker 3: was fun.
- 9:05Speaker 1: So speaking about baking and candy salads and pumpkin patches
- 9:10Speaker 1: and all that, there's also the idea of just doing
- 9:13Speaker 1: a Halloween movie night marathon. So Zach and I actually
- 9:16Speaker 1: just recently watched Scream. We watched allso watch Did you
- 9:21Speaker 1: did you watch all six?
- 9:22Speaker 2: I don't watched did you watch all six?
- 9:24Speaker 1: I watch all them? Oh wow, the last two we've
- 9:26Speaker 1: never seen.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Okay, I need to do that because I've only seen
- 9:29Speaker 2: up to five. So I've also haven't seen the last two.
- 9:32Speaker 2: But I only watched. I only just started. I think
- 9:36Speaker 2: I watched the first two, so yeah, I haven't finished.
- 9:39Speaker 2: The lots are like my favorite movies.
- 9:41Speaker 1: The last two are on Amazon Prime.
- 9:44Speaker 3: Okay, and you need to.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Watch them because it's a totally different storyline okay, which
- 9:49Speaker 1: I kind of like because it makes it scarier. Oh
- 9:52Speaker 1: it was really gory. Yeah I didn't really like that. Okay,
- 9:56Speaker 1: like the other one, the beginning screams are gory, but
- 9:58Speaker 1: this was like like a little too much stabbing, Like it.
- 10:01Speaker 3: Was like, oh, I don't love an over.
- 10:04Speaker 2: I feel like the reason I love like the screen movies,
- 10:07Speaker 2: especially like the like like the first second third, is
- 10:10Speaker 2: because I feel like it's like not super scary, not
- 10:14Speaker 2: super intense, like you know, like it's just I don't know,
- 10:17Speaker 2: those movies don't scare me too much as if I
- 10:19Speaker 2: were to watch like for example, I could never watch
- 10:23Speaker 2: like a like a possessed.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Or like a conjuring. I was just no, I can't
- 10:28Speaker 1: do that. The conjuring is the scary. No, actually that's
- 10:31Speaker 1: not the scariest we've ever seen. The scariest movie I've
- 10:33Speaker 1: ever seen is the Chucky one. No Sinisters, Do.
- 10:36Speaker 3: You remember that?
- 10:37Speaker 2: Yeah? No?
- 10:38Speaker 3: No't even want to talk about it.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Is it's a freaking trailer creeps me out like like
- 10:44Speaker 1: Little Girl. Yes, No, the one where it's like where
- 10:48Speaker 1: they get to the house, the new house, and then
- 10:49Speaker 1: they finally find the projector and then they see videos. Yeah,
- 10:52Speaker 1: that's the scariest when I I can never rewatch.
- 10:56Speaker 2: That, will never like that scar always my mind, well
- 11:00Speaker 2: not always in my mind, but like I just like
- 11:02Speaker 2: when I think of horror movies, that's the exact scene
- 11:05Speaker 2: like that, I'll speak of them in the attic.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Oh no, it's so scary, like like conjuring is scary,
- 11:12Speaker 1: And I probably wouldn't watch that again either. I used
- 11:14Speaker 1: to be obsessed with horror movies and now I'm just like, no.
- 11:17Speaker 2: I refuse, Like I'll watch the Scream movie or like
- 11:21Speaker 2: more of Like I feel like there's a difference between
- 11:23Speaker 2: Halloween movie and horror movie. Yeah, I'll watch a Halloween movie.
- 11:27Speaker 2: I will not watch, yeah, a horror movie. Like there's
- 11:30Speaker 2: also Nightmare on Elm Street. That kind of freaked me, honest. Yeah,
- 11:35Speaker 2: but like doa.
- 11:36Speaker 3: BWL you know what, you know what it is.
- 11:38Speaker 1: You have to find a horror movie with a storyline,
- 11:40Speaker 1: so it's not like constant like I mean, I guess
- 11:43Speaker 1: they all have a storyline, but like that's not as
- 11:45Speaker 1: creepy like kind of like the screams. It's kind of
- 11:47Speaker 1: like them in high school. You kind of see like
- 11:49Speaker 1: a fun from the side, and then you have to
- 11:52Speaker 1: try and figure out who the killer is. That's like
- 11:53Speaker 1: within their friend group, whereas like The Conjuring, it's like
- 11:56Speaker 1: creepy house, creepy dolls, possess be Yeah, it's just like
- 12:00Speaker 1: not really anything exciting at it, Like it's all creepy.
- 12:04Speaker 2: And also like not super relatable. I find yeah, like anyways,
- 12:09Speaker 2: but I also think too, it's also fun to watch
- 12:13Speaker 2: movies that aren't super scary. Yes, Halloween Town or like
- 12:18Speaker 2: hocus Pocus, like those are just classic, or like The
- 12:21Speaker 2: Adams Family, Yeah, or The Nightmare Before Christmas. Yeah, it's
- 12:26Speaker 2: a cute one. Beetlejuice, Yeah, the one with the bride,
- 12:32Speaker 2: the Corpse Bride.
- 12:34Speaker 3: I've never heard of that one.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Oh, it's it's a cute one.
- 12:36Speaker 1: There's also Casper. I feel like that's a really really
- 12:39Speaker 1: cute one.
- 12:40Speaker 3: Did you say Beetlejuice.
- 12:41Speaker 2: I did say Beetlejuice.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Caroline is really Caroline.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Oh, Coraline creepy.
- 12:46Speaker 3: She's I've actually never seen.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Oh that is it's like supposed to be not creepy,
- 12:52Speaker 2: but I feel like a lot of people are ghostbusters.
- 12:56Speaker 3: Oh that's a good yeah.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Oh wait, you know what else, I kind of relate
- 13:00Speaker 1: the creep not creepy Halloween too.
- 13:03Speaker 3: I don't know why, Scooby Doo. Oh yeah, I kind
- 13:06Speaker 3: of see it as Halloween a little bit.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Also, we're we just searched like these movies, movies in
- 13:11Speaker 2: case you're wondering.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Yeah, and then oh, the Haunted Mansion. I loved that.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Haunted Mansion was my favorite.
- 13:17Speaker 3: Yeah, so much.
- 13:20Speaker 2: I watched that movie goose Bumps. Oh, Hotel Transylvania is cute,
- 13:25Speaker 2: but yeah, the Haunted Mansion was like my favorite favorite movie.
- 13:31Speaker 2: I don't know why. I was just so obsessed with it.
- 13:33Speaker 2: And I always think about it randomly too, And I
- 13:36Speaker 2: definitely need to watch it before Halloween. I feel like
- 13:39Speaker 2: there's so much I need to do. It's like stressing
- 13:41Speaker 2: me out.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Another thing that we've always grown up doing is decorating
- 13:45Speaker 1: our house either the day before Halloween or on Halloween,
- 13:48Speaker 1: especially before the kids come trick or treating. So my
- 13:51Speaker 1: parents always used to do like a haunted house in
- 13:53Speaker 1: the garage, and like, my parents have some creepy stuff,
- 13:56Speaker 1: and I honestly think it's because we force slept to
- 13:58Speaker 1: buy it. Like you know, those creepy statues that you
- 14:01Speaker 1: see a Canadian tire that people have been posting about
- 14:03Speaker 1: on social media, we have We have no we still
- 14:06Speaker 1: have them.
- 14:06Speaker 3: We literally have a bunch of them.
- 14:08Speaker 2: You will not believe. Like we were that house. Yeah,
- 14:12Speaker 2: we we were that house on the street that went
- 14:15Speaker 2: full out that everybody wanted to go trick or treating to.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Everybody talked about. We did it for a few years
- 14:21Speaker 2: and then we stopped doing it, and it was kind
- 14:24Speaker 2: of sad because then people would come and be like,
- 14:27Speaker 2: why didn't you do the haunted house this year? Like
- 14:29Speaker 2: we literally like we turned our entire garage into like
- 14:33Speaker 2: this haunted house that people would walk through. We had
- 14:36Speaker 2: a strobe light, we had a fog machine, like so
- 14:39Speaker 2: creepy music.
- 14:40Speaker 1: Yeah, like so creepy that we had Zach and my
- 14:43Speaker 1: dad dress up as like Michael Myer's yeah, chain fake
- 14:46Speaker 1: chainsaw noises.
- 14:48Speaker 3: You know.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Zach had like an actual fake chain saw in his
- 14:51Speaker 2: hand and would hide under his truck.
- 14:54Speaker 1: And like it was actually And then like the statues
- 14:57Speaker 1: that we had, they obviously like talk and we had
- 14:59Speaker 1: like creepy dog and then me and Madison sometimes would
- 15:02Speaker 1: like wear blood on us and like, yeah.
- 15:04Speaker 3: Dress up is creepy.
- 15:05Speaker 2: People Like we would just like walk around like dressed
- 15:09Speaker 2: in like all black with a mask on and just
- 15:12Speaker 2: just like go up to random people.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Like remember, we would do the black socks over our
- 15:16Speaker 1: face and people were like what the heck is that?
- 15:18Speaker 1: And we had like black tarps in the garage, so
- 15:20Speaker 1: it literally looked like just that, like a black black
- 15:22Speaker 1: And then there's my mom all dressed up with the
- 15:25Speaker 1: candies like come on, kids, and some of the kids
- 15:27Speaker 1: are like no, I'm okay, and then my mom would
- 15:29Speaker 1: be like you guys.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Are too scary, Like the kids aren't even coming in.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Yeah, anyway, it was so fun. We need to bring
- 15:36Speaker 2: that back. Yeah, it's just so much effort. Like we
- 15:39Speaker 2: typically we wouldn't decorate our house at all prior to Halloween,
- 15:44Speaker 2: and then Halloween Day it's like we're all up.
- 15:47Speaker 3: It's a mission.
- 15:48Speaker 2: We're prepping, Like like we would.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Be done high school at what three thirty, and like
- 15:52Speaker 1: we would spend my dad would leave work early.
- 15:54Speaker 3: We would spend like four hours doing the garage. Like guys,
- 15:58Speaker 3: this was a project.
- 15:59Speaker 2: Yeah, Like so no one would really know in advance,
- 16:01Speaker 2: like what it was going to look like. It was
- 16:03Speaker 2: just a whole thing, but it was so fun.
- 16:06Speaker 1: I think we might need to bring that back when
- 16:08Speaker 1: I start having kids, because yeah, mom and dad would.
- 16:11Speaker 3: Love to have that for their future grandchildren.
- 16:14Speaker 2: You just better hope your kid doesn't get scared or.
- 16:17Speaker 3: I'm traumatizing it. Yeah the kid bore kid anyways.
- 16:20Speaker 1: But that's what we used to do growing up, and
- 16:22Speaker 1: it's something that we loved doing. Another thing that we
- 16:25Speaker 1: love to do usually during around this time of the
- 16:26Speaker 1: year two is finding like some.
- 16:28Speaker 3: Typ of like horror tour.
- 16:30Speaker 1: So we have something called Saunders Farm where there's like
- 16:33Speaker 1: a haunted hay ride, there's a haunted house, a haunted
- 16:35Speaker 1: corn maze. That's actually one thing that I always avoid
- 16:38Speaker 1: a I never do the corn maze that's the ice farm,
- 16:41Speaker 1: because it's people inside the corn maze like following you,
- 16:44Speaker 1: like chasing you. So you're running through a corn maze, Well,
- 16:47Speaker 1: these creepy people are chasing you like that. The haunted
- 16:49Speaker 1: house alone, I'm already kind of creeped out by and I.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Just mind my the one I always thought was really creepy.
- 16:54Speaker 2: There's this one, I guess ride even though it's not
- 16:57Speaker 2: really a ride. You're just like walking through a four
- 17:00Speaker 2: and somebody follows you. Oh yeah, like somebody gets behind
- 17:04Speaker 2: you and starts following you with like chainsaw. Yeah, you're
- 17:07Speaker 2: just like running.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Were booking it.
- 17:08Speaker 2: We're booking it. So that one I always hated, but
- 17:11Speaker 2: I never I don't think I've ever done the corn Maze.
- 17:14Speaker 3: I need to do that, I've never know. I'm not
- 17:16Speaker 3: doing it. I'm avoid I'm.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Going next week.
- 17:17Speaker 3: Yeah I am too. When Oh, let's make plans. I
- 17:23Speaker 3: think that's all. Honestly.
- 17:24Speaker 1: The rest that we had on our list was more
- 17:26Speaker 1: so just kind of like throwing a Halloween party or
- 17:29Speaker 1: going to a Halloween party dressing up. Zach and I
- 17:32Speaker 1: dressed up last year. I don't know if we're going
- 17:34Speaker 1: to dress up this year because we don't really have
- 17:36Speaker 1: I know, we don't really have a Halloween party this year,
- 17:38Speaker 1: so unfortunately, I know, I honestly kind of just want
- 17:42Speaker 1: to buy a costume just to dress up.
- 17:43Speaker 3: I don't know, I know some people.
- 17:45Speaker 1: Do that, but.
- 17:47Speaker 3: Yeah, that's kind of like the determining factor right now.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Our costume last year was so cute. It was so cute,
- 17:52Speaker 1: it was so good. Yeah, that was actually a really
- 17:54Speaker 1: good costume. So I do have that red wig that
- 17:57Speaker 1: I wore for Katies. That's your so I could find
- 18:01Speaker 1: a character with Maybe someone actually said Kim possible.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a good one.
- 18:05Speaker 1: At the Bachelrette party, I was like, Oh, I wonder,
- 18:07Speaker 1: I wonder if I can use this for like a
- 18:09Speaker 1: Halloween costume. I don't know, I can think of a
- 18:12Speaker 1: cute idea.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Maybe.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Yeah, Okay, well keep you posted. I might be doing
- 18:15Speaker 1: something with a red wig. We shall see. All right, Well,
- 18:17Speaker 1: that's our spooky bucket list. We're now going to briefly
- 18:20Speaker 1: talk about our horror stories through our health and wellness journey.
- 18:26Speaker 3: I have a few.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Madison has a few that we're gonna kind of just
- 18:29Speaker 1: talk about quickly because this kind of inspired me because
- 18:32Speaker 1: I've seen a few podcast episodes just about like horror
- 18:35Speaker 1: stories when it comes to like dating or horror stories
- 18:38Speaker 1: of like.
- 18:38Speaker 3: Things that may have actually happened to you.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Let are kind of like more spooky, like ghost you know, paranormal.
- 18:44Speaker 3: Activity, vibes, whatever the heck.
- 18:45Speaker 1: I don't really have a story about that, but I'm like,
- 18:48Speaker 1: I have some horror stories when it comes to like
- 18:50Speaker 1: things I did in my health and wellness journey that
- 18:52Speaker 1: I look back on and I'm like, what the fuck
- 18:54Speaker 1: was I thinking, Like that is scary to think about
- 18:57Speaker 1: doing that again. Yeah, but yeah, So he are some
- 19:00Speaker 1: of the ones that I kind of went through. The
- 19:03Speaker 1: first one was completely removing dairy out of my lifestyle.
- 19:08Speaker 1: This was the most stupidest thing I think I've ever done.
- 19:10Speaker 1: I think back then, I was following so many influencers
- 19:14Speaker 1: who were I guess dairy free, and they were drinking
- 19:17Speaker 1: almond milk or oat milk, and at the time, I
- 19:20Speaker 1: just felt this need where I.
- 19:22Speaker 3: Had to make the switch.
- 19:22Speaker 1: And this was like when people like were starting to
- 19:25Speaker 1: make like almond milk. This was like the first time
- 19:28Speaker 1: I ever kind of came out so weird.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Because it was like this whole it was almost like
- 19:32Speaker 2: a trend where like no one was drinking regular milk,
- 19:36Speaker 2: and it was so bizarre and like convincing us that
- 19:39Speaker 2: like milk is bad, ye, like milk is like in everything.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Yeah, it was such a weird time in our life,
- 19:45Speaker 1: and I felt like if you were like a person
- 19:47Speaker 1: that was striving to be healthy, you had to jump
- 19:49Speaker 1: on this trend. And it felt like all these health
- 19:51Speaker 1: and wellness influencers that were drinking almond milk. I don't
- 19:53Speaker 1: even think oat milk was a thing at that time,
- 19:55Speaker 1: to be. I just remember constantly buying almond milk, and
- 19:58Speaker 1: I remember my parents still buying dairy, and they would
- 20:00Speaker 1: put dairy in like you know, mashed potatoes or whatever
- 20:03Speaker 1: that they were cooking us for dinner. And I'm like, oh, well, no,
- 20:05Speaker 1: I gotta have almond milk. Yeah.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Like that, again, we weren't even classified as like lactose,
- 20:10Speaker 2: and like we we.
- 20:12Speaker 3: Could consume dairy and have no issues.
- 20:14Speaker 2: Everyone else was doing it.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I got to hop on the trend. And now
- 20:19Speaker 1: here here we are, everyone's going back to dairy. And
- 20:21Speaker 1: now people are actually having complications of bringing back dairy
- 20:26Speaker 1: into their lifestyle because they were drinking almond milk and
- 20:29Speaker 1: oh milk for so long. Yeah, and again there's pros
- 20:32Speaker 1: and cons to each. I don't think dairy or the
- 20:34Speaker 1: plant based milks are like they're different in their own.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Ways, and it's like everyone's different, Like plant based may
- 20:40Speaker 2: work for your body, yeah for you, or dairy may
- 20:43Speaker 2: be what's what works best for you. It's just funny how.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Like we were drinking dairy no problem, and then we decided, oh,
- 20:50Speaker 1: we got to hop on this trend, like if you
- 20:52Speaker 1: can't drink dairy or you're literally lactose intolerant, like don't
- 20:57Speaker 1: consume dairy, like have plant based milks. But if you
- 21:00Speaker 1: can drink dairy, why are we changing it up? Like,
- 21:03Speaker 1: let's not hop on these stupid trends. So that's probably
- 21:05Speaker 1: the first one because I think it was like a
- 21:08Speaker 1: while for us to kind of get back to the
- 21:09Speaker 1: taste of dairy and like our stomach kind of adjusting
- 21:12Speaker 1: to dairy again. So now we're both back on dairy
- 21:15Speaker 1: and our stomachs are happy, so that's a good thing.
- 21:18Speaker 2: One of my horror stories that I think I can
- 21:20Speaker 2: talk about is for the longest time, I feel like
- 21:25Speaker 2: I really struggled, and I think Kaylee struggled with this too.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Is I used to get these like little bumps like
- 21:33Speaker 2: all over my face and take in before I had
- 21:38Speaker 2: like a very very simple routine, but once again from
- 21:42Speaker 2: TikTok and like just like trends on social media.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Like buying new skincare products and you see that are trendang, So.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Like I don't even remember what products I was using before,
- 21:52Speaker 2: but I remember I was using products that worked, and
- 21:55Speaker 2: then I switched to what everybody else was using. I
- 21:58Speaker 2: feel like there was like a time where everyone was
- 22:00Speaker 2: using Sarah Bay. Is that how you're saying, Sarah? So
- 22:03Speaker 2: then I felt like I had to switch to sarave,
- 22:06Speaker 2: even though what I was doing was fine. And also
- 22:09Speaker 2: a lot of people were like using like chemical exfolians
- 22:12Speaker 2: and things like that, So then I started implementing that,
- 22:15Speaker 2: and I feel like I was doing all this stuff
- 22:17Speaker 2: without understanding like how to properly use it. Like I'm
- 22:22Speaker 2: not saying any of this stuff is bad, but like
- 22:24Speaker 2: I just didn't.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Know, well, not even that it could just be like
- 22:28Speaker 1: your skin doesn't react well product with.
- 22:31Speaker 2: The chemical exfullience. I definitely just didn't know how to
- 22:33Speaker 2: properly use it then. But also too with like, for example, sarave,
- 22:37Speaker 2: like I just it didn't work for my skin, so
- 22:40Speaker 2: I was getting all these bumps and I just didn't
- 22:43Speaker 2: know what it was. So I did all this research
- 22:46Speaker 2: and I was like, you know what, I'm going to
- 22:48Speaker 2: like the most basic, basic routine. I literally bought a
- 22:52Speaker 2: facewash from like Nutrigena with like three ingredients in it,
- 22:56Speaker 2: like literally like so so simple and a moisture, and
- 23:01Speaker 2: to this day, I still use the moisturizer. And now
- 23:04Speaker 2: I feel like I do a lot of research before
- 23:07Speaker 2: including new products into my routine, Like I make sure
- 23:10Speaker 2: I feel like I now know from all the research
- 23:12Speaker 2: I did, specific ingredients that do break me out, Yeah,
- 23:16Speaker 2: to avoid, to avoid exactly. So I feel like now
- 23:20Speaker 2: I have a good, you know, routine. But it was
- 23:23Speaker 2: just kind of like once again a funny story or
- 23:26Speaker 2: horror story of how you know I was. I was
- 23:28Speaker 2: following what I was seeing on social media and not
- 23:32Speaker 2: knowing that that was the reason, and I was getting
- 23:35Speaker 2: these like bumps. Also, do I think of buddy stories
- 23:38Speaker 2: that I used to try, like these like natural face masks.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Have you seen them on TikTok where people use like
- 23:45Speaker 2: Greek yogurt on or like egg yo or like.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Turmoric banana peels.
- 23:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I would like putty like honey, like just like
- 23:54Speaker 2: making like I literally make this DIY face mask and
- 23:57Speaker 2: my kitchen and my mom's like what are you doing?
- 24:01Speaker 2: Like I'd bring it up to my room and I'd
- 24:03Speaker 2: wear it overnight. Yeah, I'm not sure if it did anything.
- 24:06Speaker 2: I feel like I never noticed a big difference, but yeah,
- 24:11Speaker 2: that's just like another funny story.
- 24:13Speaker 1: I will say Madison is like my go to person
- 24:15Speaker 1: whenever I do buy a new product. I'm like, Okay,
- 24:18Speaker 1: tell me the ingredients because we do have similar skin types,
- 24:21Speaker 1: which is nice because I feel like she can kind
- 24:24Speaker 1: of help me out for specific face washes and all that.
- 24:26Speaker 1: But one thing about me is I'm very very simple
- 24:29Speaker 1: when it comes to my face wash skincare. Like I
- 24:32Speaker 1: see so many girls like with the retinal and the
- 24:36Speaker 1: chemical expollience and whatever, and again that works for you great,
- 24:40Speaker 1: but like for me, I've realized that the more I
- 24:43Speaker 1: put on my face, the more it's going to react.
- 24:45Speaker 2: Ye, because I like yeah, and I feel like two
- 24:49Speaker 2: less is more. So like yeah, I feel like if
- 24:51Speaker 2: there's a product with like a bunch of ingredients, it's
- 24:55Speaker 2: typically something that like I try not to use or
- 24:59Speaker 2: like I'll just like make sure to research and ensure
- 25:01Speaker 2: that like all the ingredients are like okay and good
- 25:05Speaker 2: for my skin. But it's definitely nice that we have
- 25:07Speaker 2: very similar skin types because I know, like if she
- 25:10Speaker 2: tries a new product and it doesn't break her out,
- 25:12Speaker 2: then I'm like okay, I feel like I'm probably okay
- 25:15Speaker 2: considering she's fine, so okay.
- 25:17Speaker 1: The next one for me in terms of a horror
- 25:20Speaker 1: story that I've had is my toxic relationship with food.
- 25:24Speaker 3: I used to be so toxic.
- 25:26Speaker 1: I'm not even gonna lie, Like I've talked about this
- 25:28Speaker 1: in the past, but I used to completely cut out
- 25:32Speaker 1: entire food groups, like I didn't want to have any
- 25:35Speaker 1: fat or carbs. Sometimes I would also like skip meals completely,
- 25:41Speaker 1: you know, not realizing that me actually, like not eating
- 25:45Speaker 1: was probably actually gaining weight for myself, Like I actually
- 25:48Speaker 1: wasn't seeing a difference in my body. And then I
- 25:51Speaker 1: started to find a healthy relationship with food, you know,
- 25:54Speaker 1: figure out okay, eating you know, lean proteins and eating
- 25:58Speaker 1: the carbs, like the healthy carbs that we see like
- 26:01Speaker 1: sweet potatoes, potatoes, rice, Like then I started to realize that,
- 26:05Speaker 1: oh wait, okay, these are actually the proper foods that
- 26:07Speaker 1: we should be eating. Like for the longest time, I
- 26:09Speaker 1: was scared to eat a fucking avocado because it was
- 26:12Speaker 1: so high in fat, Like that is so toxic. I remember,
- 26:15Speaker 1: I used to remove like pasta out of my routine,
- 26:18Speaker 1: Like I would only eat like zoodles, which is basically
- 26:20Speaker 1: zucchini in the form of noodles.
- 26:23Speaker 3: They are good, but like the fact I had to
- 26:25Speaker 3: replace it.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Yeah, or I would go to a restaurant and I'd
- 26:27Speaker 1: be so terrified to order like, you know, a past
- 26:30Speaker 1: a meal and be like, oh, like this is going
- 26:32Speaker 1: to ruin my progress. I'm gonna wake up and I'm
- 26:34Speaker 1: gonna lose all the you know working out that I did.
- 26:36Speaker 3: Blah blah blah. It was so freaking toxic.
- 26:40Speaker 1: And I think over time, just kind of like educating
- 26:42Speaker 1: myself actually doing the research, I kind of found a
- 26:44Speaker 1: way of healing and actually figuring out ways to build
- 26:48Speaker 1: lean muscle and figuring out that Okay, it's good to
- 26:50Speaker 1: actually eat these healthy fats. It's good to actually have
- 26:53Speaker 1: these lean proteins. It's good to have the balance of
- 26:56Speaker 1: going out to a restaurant indulging what you want, eat
- 26:58Speaker 1: what you create, because if you avoid eating those food groups, like,
- 27:02Speaker 1: it's actually gonna be worse. So finding the balance also
- 27:05Speaker 1: has been a huge lifesaver. But yeah, I think that's
- 27:08Speaker 1: probably one horror story that like really just I don't know,
- 27:13Speaker 1: I wish it never happened because I think it really
- 27:15Speaker 1: damaged like just my mental state when it came to
- 27:19Speaker 1: eating and you shouldn't see food as the enemy.
- 27:23Speaker 3: You should see it as fuel, and you should see.
- 27:25Speaker 1: It as something that you know makes you feel energized,
- 27:29Speaker 1: it makes you feel good.
- 27:30Speaker 2: And a problem when it comes to like eating healthy,
- 27:34Speaker 2: especially now that you've like sort of found foods that
- 27:39Speaker 2: you like and what you don't like, I feel like
- 27:41Speaker 2: it's not even about like, oh, eating healthy because I
- 27:44Speaker 2: have to. It's like, oh, I actually enjoy yes, yeah,
- 27:47Speaker 2: and that's the whole point. Like you're eating food because
- 27:50Speaker 2: you enjoy it, or you're eating specific foods because that's
- 27:53Speaker 2: what you want.
- 27:54Speaker 1: But I think also people like, forget how some of
- 27:57Speaker 1: these healthy foods like sweet potato it's so good, like
- 28:00Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like it's it's healthy, but
- 28:02Speaker 1: it's so good in my opinion, Like white rice, it's
- 28:05Speaker 1: that's not a bad thing to have.
- 28:06Speaker 3: It's a simple car.
- 28:07Speaker 1: But maybe back in the day people were like, oh god,
- 28:10Speaker 1: you gotta eat brown rice not white rice, or you
- 28:12Speaker 1: gotta have quen wa like freak the rice. Like I
- 28:15Speaker 1: have to be honest, I do not like quenoa. It's healthy,
- 28:17Speaker 1: but I do not like it. That is one healthy.
- 28:19Speaker 3: Food I know.
- 28:20Speaker 1: But anyways, so I just wanted to talk about that
- 28:23Speaker 1: because that was a very bad time in my life
- 28:26Speaker 1: that I do not miss whatsoever. And I'm so happy
- 28:29Speaker 1: I healed my relationship with food because now I'm all
- 28:32Speaker 1: about balance.
- 28:32Speaker 3: I crave and eat what I want, and yeah.
- 28:35Speaker 1: I'm just happy that I don't have to deal with that,
- 28:37Speaker 1: because that is a horror story to think about.
- 28:39Speaker 2: I feel like I also have another horror story, not
- 28:43Speaker 2: really with food, but with caffeine. My journey with caffeine
- 28:48Speaker 2: has been pretty crazy. So I remember back in the day,
- 28:54Speaker 2: like when I first started university, I hated coffee, Like
- 28:58Speaker 2: I hated the taste of coffee, would never have it.
- 29:01Speaker 2: But like all my friends were having it, and like
- 29:04Speaker 2: they were talking about, like, oh, I need a coffee
- 29:06Speaker 2: to like get through studying for this exam, like and
- 29:09Speaker 2: so I started thinking, like I need to start drinking coffee.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Like how am I going to do?
- 29:13Speaker 3: How am I going to get through it?
- 29:15Speaker 2: Yeah? How am I going to get through university without
- 29:16Speaker 2: having coffee? But because I hated the taste of coffee
- 29:20Speaker 2: so much, I would have to put so much sugar
- 29:23Speaker 2: in buy coffee. Like you remember the way I used to.
- 29:26Speaker 3: Make my traps.
- 29:28Speaker 2: I would add cream I would like put like two,
- 29:32Speaker 2: like I don't even know the creamers, like yeah, all
- 29:34Speaker 2: the creamers a bunch of sugar, like just for it
- 29:37Speaker 2: to taste good. And I'm like, okay, I'm good. But
- 29:41Speaker 2: I think, honestly, on top of that, plus, I feel
- 29:45Speaker 2: like I was honestly trying to drink too much coffee
- 29:49Speaker 2: and just going from like not drinking coffee at all
- 29:51Speaker 2: to now like two coffee's a day with all this sugar.
- 29:55Speaker 2: It honestly was way too much for my body to handle.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Literally remember starting to have the shakes, like my body
- 30:04Speaker 2: was legit shaking because it just couldn't handle all of
- 30:09Speaker 2: you know, all the caffeine, the sugar, all that. So
- 30:13Speaker 2: then I started to kind of like wean off it,
- 30:16Speaker 2: like I just started not drinking it as much and
- 30:19Speaker 2: also trying to you know, I think over time, I
- 30:22Speaker 2: actually started to enjoy the taste of coffee more so,
- 30:26Speaker 2: like adding less sugar less creamers, and like I really
- 30:29Speaker 2: just like went on this journey of trying to figure out, Okay,
- 30:33Speaker 2: what's a creamer. I like, that's still healthy, what's you know,
- 30:37Speaker 2: like maybe only a little teaspoon of sugar things like that,
- 30:43Speaker 2: and over time, I just like started you know, adding
- 30:46Speaker 2: less and less creamer, less and less sweetener because I
- 30:49Speaker 2: just started to actually love the taste of coffee. But
- 30:52Speaker 2: then I kind of went through another period where like
- 30:55Speaker 2: my anxiety started getting bad, where like I was having
- 30:58Speaker 2: caffeine before for having breakfast, so like no food and
- 31:03Speaker 2: like ee legit was so anxious all day. And I
- 31:07Speaker 2: notice a pattern that I'd be anxious when I had coffee,
- 31:10Speaker 2: and so I feel like that taught me. Okay, I
- 31:14Speaker 2: kind of completely once again eliminated caffeine and switched to
- 31:18Speaker 2: DCALF and I was only drinking decalf. But I also
- 31:21Speaker 2: like I remember, you know, I loved n Espresso pods
- 31:24Speaker 2: and there was only like specific pods Decaf, so I
- 31:27Speaker 2: was like getting SAgs. I was like, oh, like I
- 31:29Speaker 2: can't have this pop. I was like, you know what,
- 31:31Speaker 2: I can build a routine that works for me. So
- 31:35Speaker 2: I really tried to kind of figure out what worked
- 31:39Speaker 2: best for my body. So one thing was, you know,
- 31:41Speaker 2: eating before having caffeine, Like that's a non negotiable for
- 31:45Speaker 2: me now, and maybe on the days where I am
- 31:48Speaker 2: feeling more anxious, I'll switch to decalf. Like for example,
- 31:53Speaker 2: I'm always anxious on my period, so I'll try to
- 31:55Speaker 2: drink decalf more throughout my period. But yeah, I feel
- 31:58Speaker 2: like now I have our tintine and a better relationship
- 32:03Speaker 2: with caffeine because I know how it affects my body
- 32:06Speaker 2: and what I can do to sort of avoid that.
- 32:08Speaker 2: And there are still times where like I'll have caffeine
- 32:11Speaker 2: and I'm like super anxious, and I'll be like, oh,
- 32:14Speaker 2: I shouldn't have had a coffee.
- 32:15Speaker 1: Today, Like no, it's so true, like even for me too.
- 32:17Speaker 1: I feel like it depends on my cycle as a woman.
- 32:20Speaker 1: Obviously we go through different phases throughout our menstrual cycle.
- 32:23Speaker 1: And I feel like if I have a coffee some days,
- 32:26Speaker 1: I notice that I am more anxious than others. And
- 32:28Speaker 1: I always have a big breakfast before I have a coffee.
- 32:30Speaker 1: So I'm the same way non negotiable, neat t eat
- 32:33Speaker 1: a breakfast before I have my coffee. But you can
- 32:35Speaker 1: also obviously like see how strong the caffeine is in
- 32:38Speaker 1: certain pods with espresso, which is nice, so we usually
- 32:41Speaker 1: get ones that are not like overly strong again to
- 32:43Speaker 1: avoid anxiety. So I have a similar situation. I also
- 32:47Speaker 1: find this kind of goes with my horror story is
- 32:50Speaker 1: sometimes alcohol relates to anxiety, which I think not enough
- 32:54Speaker 1: people talk about that, because I think there's a lot
- 32:56Speaker 1: of people out there that probably go to the same
- 32:58Speaker 1: situation where they feel super anxious the next day or
- 33:01Speaker 1: in the moment when they are drinking, especially like that's
- 33:03Speaker 1: why I don't drink that much.
- 33:05Speaker 3: Is because it spikes my anxiety.
- 33:06Speaker 1: And maybe some people don't realize that for themselves either,
- 33:10Speaker 1: but for me, I started to notice that, and I'm like, Okay,
- 33:13Speaker 1: is it really worth having those two glasses of wine?
- 33:15Speaker 1: Probably not. If I have like one glass of wine
- 33:18Speaker 1: or one spicy mark or something, usually I'm okay the
- 33:20Speaker 1: next day. But again, that's the same thing with coffee.
- 33:22Speaker 1: I don't have more than one coffee a day. If
- 33:24Speaker 1: I had more than one coffee a day, my anxiety,
- 33:27Speaker 1: Oh my gosh.
- 33:28Speaker 2: I also like, will not sleep.
- 33:30Speaker 3: No, that's the thing.
- 33:30Speaker 1: We both cannot have a coffee in the afternoon like
- 33:32Speaker 1: past Like one pm is my max. If I have
- 33:35Speaker 1: anything at like two or three, I'm not going about
- 33:37Speaker 1: sleeping now. I will not be sleeping. So we're both
- 33:39Speaker 1: kind of the same in that sense. But yeah, okay.
- 33:42Speaker 1: My last horror story when it comes to like my
- 33:45Speaker 1: health and wellness journey would be not having any rest days.
- 33:49Speaker 1: When I was obsessed with my health and wellness journey,
- 33:52Speaker 1: I could not stop working out. Like I was working
- 33:55Speaker 1: out seven days a week, I was not giving my
- 33:58Speaker 1: body enough rest days, which thinking back, I'm shocked that
- 34:02Speaker 1: I never like severely injured myself because I was also
- 34:05Speaker 1: lifting heavy weights and when you're doing that so often,
- 34:10Speaker 1: it's so toxic for your body. So finding the balance
- 34:13Speaker 1: of being able to like actually realize that you need
- 34:16Speaker 1: the rest days because your body needs to kind of
- 34:18Speaker 1: just like process what you've done these past few days,
- 34:20Speaker 1: and then oh, you know, the following day after your
- 34:23Speaker 1: rest day, you get back into the workout that you
- 34:26Speaker 1: want to do.
- 34:26Speaker 3: So I think again, it's.
- 34:28Speaker 1: More so just like research and like honestly following other
- 34:31Speaker 1: influencers that have kind of like helped me out in
- 34:34Speaker 1: the sense. Like again back in the day, this is
- 34:36Speaker 1: when I wasn't an influencer, but following other like fitness
- 34:38Speaker 1: influencers or people who are in like the health and
- 34:41Speaker 1: wellness journey of understanding that like it's so important for
- 34:44Speaker 1: these rest days kind of inspired me to realize, Okay,
- 34:48Speaker 1: this is actually better for my body, and it's going
- 34:50Speaker 1: to help me avoid you know, potential injury in the future.
- 34:53Speaker 1: And you know, on my rest days, I find ways
- 34:56Speaker 1: to move my body to make me feel good, which
- 34:58Speaker 1: is walking, right, Like walking is a huge one for me.
- 35:00Speaker 1: So if I'm not working out, I'm typically going on
- 35:02Speaker 1: a thirty to forty minute walk that day, so at
- 35:04Speaker 1: least I know I've done some movement. And I don't know,
- 35:06Speaker 1: I just think it makes me go into my day
- 35:08Speaker 1: feeling a bit better.
- 35:09Speaker 3: And yeah, I don't know. I feel like like any
- 35:11Speaker 3: tip of.
- 35:11Speaker 1: Movement just is my source of therapy, Like I feel
- 35:13Speaker 1: like I need it, not just to I don't know,
- 35:17Speaker 1: like it just it's an aera, you know what it is.
- 35:19Speaker 1: It's it's a way to clear my head. Yeah, that's
- 35:21Speaker 1: what it is. When I'm feeling overwhelmed with work or
- 35:23Speaker 1: feeling stressed or anxious, going on a walk or doing
- 35:26Speaker 1: my workout completely just like blocks anything out.
- 35:28Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, they do say all the time that like
- 35:31Speaker 2: any sort of exercise is a form of like therapy,
- 35:35Speaker 2: like it's it releases like endorphins or exactly mean something
- 35:39Speaker 2: like that. So it makes sense.
- 35:40Speaker 1: Because someone actually asks me on my Instagram story, like, oh,
- 35:43Speaker 1: what motivates you so much to work out all the time?
- 35:45Speaker 1: And I'm like, honestly, it's just like the feeling. It's good,
- 35:47Speaker 1: Like it feels good. Like again, I enjoy those rest days,
- 35:50Speaker 1: but I still like to find ways to move my
- 35:52Speaker 1: body because mentally, it just like makes me feel good.
- 35:54Speaker 3: Like I also feel like it sets the.
- 35:56Speaker 2: Tone, especially if you're doing a workout in the morning
- 35:58Speaker 2: or you're going for a walk in the morning, it
- 36:00Speaker 2: sets the tone for the day. I notice a lot
- 36:03Speaker 2: that if I have a workout in the morning, I
- 36:07Speaker 2: feel way more productive. I just feel better about myself.
- 36:10Speaker 2: I feel good. Like it just puts me in this
- 36:12Speaker 2: like great mindset and I just I feel good and
- 36:16Speaker 2: I'm like ready to start the day. And I also
- 36:18Speaker 2: think too, it's important what you were saying about, like
- 36:21Speaker 2: rest days and all that is also just like listening
- 36:24Speaker 2: to your body. You may have a routine that you follow,
- 36:28Speaker 2: Let's say it's like five days a week that you
- 36:31Speaker 2: worked out, but you may wake up one morning and
- 36:35Speaker 2: your back is hurting or your shoulders hurting. Yeah, well
- 36:37Speaker 2: I had my back in exactly, and you're like, you
- 36:40Speaker 2: know what, I'm going to listen to my body and
- 36:41Speaker 2: I'm gonna take the day off, and that's okay. If
- 36:45Speaker 2: this week you only work out three times instead of
- 36:47Speaker 2: five times, like that's totally okay. Like listening to your body,
- 36:50Speaker 2: I think is so important. But also if you're at
- 36:53Speaker 2: your workout studio, like just having that mental note like okay,
- 36:57Speaker 2: you know my ankle's a little sore, or like let's
- 37:00Speaker 2: not push it. Let's not push it. That was lower
- 37:03Speaker 2: on the weights today, like things.
- 37:04Speaker 1: That was literally me today, Like I literally was in
- 37:06Speaker 1: plates today and I tried to in my head, I was, Okay,
- 37:10Speaker 1: your back injury is still here. Yeah, my physio has
- 37:13Speaker 1: cleared me to do more workouts, and I have a
- 37:16Speaker 1: hard time not challenging myself. I don't know, yah, I
- 37:19Speaker 1: think it's like just something I want to, you want to.
- 37:21Speaker 1: So then she says to do a move and I'm
- 37:24Speaker 1: already kind of feeling uncomfortable in my back, and then
- 37:26Speaker 1: of course I try and do it, and what do
- 37:27Speaker 1: you think happens?
- 37:27Speaker 3: The carriage literally slams, and I'm like, oh, this is
- 37:30Speaker 3: why I shouldn't have done it.
- 37:31Speaker 1: Yeah, So then I stopped completely and I was like, okay,
- 37:33Speaker 1: that's my body telling.
- 37:34Speaker 3: Me that you should be doing this, you need to stop.
- 37:37Speaker 3: So I listened to my body. I stopped. And that's
- 37:39Speaker 3: why it's really important to listen to your body. I
- 37:41Speaker 3: totally agree with that.
- 37:43Speaker 2: So the last little horror story, I feel like I
- 37:45Speaker 2: have kind of like what Kaylee talked about in terms
- 37:49Speaker 2: of food. I feel like, and still to this day,
- 37:53Speaker 2: I have such a huge graving for sweets. I'm just
- 37:57Speaker 2: like such a sweet tooth girl, like just like junk
- 38:02Speaker 2: food in general, Like give me like a beg of
- 38:05Speaker 2: chips or like you know, like sour patch kids or
- 38:08Speaker 2: like my favorite. But I feel like I struggled a
- 38:11Speaker 2: lot with like trying to find a balance. Like I
- 38:13Speaker 2: feel like I went through a period where I felt
- 38:16Speaker 2: like I did have to like completely eliminate it, and
- 38:21Speaker 2: it was like hard for me because I was like, well,
- 38:24Speaker 2: you know, I still crave it, this is all I want.
- 38:28Speaker 2: So I think it's really important, Like Kaylee always says,
- 38:31Speaker 2: like following like sort of like the eighty twenty rule
- 38:34Speaker 2: and like knowing that it's okay to like indulge every
- 38:37Speaker 2: now and then, and like if you're feeling a craving,
- 38:39Speaker 2: like that's totally okay. You know, like I'll have my
- 38:42Speaker 2: cheap days where you know, I'll do takeout and then
- 38:46Speaker 2: I'll go to the grocery store and I'll buy a
- 38:47Speaker 2: little sweet treat for myself, whether that's like a little
- 38:51Speaker 2: beg of chips or like you know, sour Patch kids,
- 38:54Speaker 2: or like I love Reese's pieces, Like I'll get a
- 38:57Speaker 2: little treat like that for myself. I also find like
- 39:00Speaker 2: I feel like it's fun to do if you're like
- 39:02Speaker 2: going to like a girl's night, Like I'll pick something
- 39:05Speaker 2: up on the way to a girl's night, even if
- 39:06Speaker 2: it's like not mandatory for me to bring anything. I'll
- 39:08Speaker 2: be like, you know what, like this is my way
- 39:11Speaker 2: to have a little sweet cheer. Yeah, like I'm having
- 39:12Speaker 2: it with my friends. So I feel like that also
- 39:16Speaker 2: really helps. And I feel like I also too, also
- 39:19Speaker 2: had a period of like where I wasn't eating breakfast,
- 39:22Speaker 2: and that kind of ties into like my sort of
- 39:25Speaker 2: caffeine journey as well.
- 39:27Speaker 3: And also like your relationship with food.
- 39:29Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, exactly, Like I wasn't eating in the mornings
- 39:33Speaker 2: and I was having coffee and then I was anxious
- 39:36Speaker 2: and it was just not a good relationship with food,
- 39:41Speaker 2: and it wasn't good for my body. And so I
- 39:44Speaker 2: feel like now since you know making it a priority
- 39:47Speaker 2: to have a big breakfast and to have a breakfast
- 39:50Speaker 2: I enjoy. And I'll be honest right now, I've been
- 39:53Speaker 2: hating breakfast, like I FaceTime Killie every single day, being like,
- 39:57Speaker 2: I don't know what to eat this morning, and it's
- 40:00Speaker 2: really annoying. But this is why you need to.
- 40:02Speaker 3: Try new recipes.
- 40:04Speaker 2: Exactly. I still make sure, whether it's just a banana,
- 40:09Speaker 2: like I make sure to have something in the morning
- 40:12Speaker 2: because that's what makes me feel good and that's what's
- 40:14Speaker 2: good for my body. So even if it's just a banana,
- 40:17Speaker 2: just anything I can have in the morning to sort
- 40:20Speaker 2: of fuel me for the day has been, yeah, a
- 40:25Speaker 2: priority for me.
- 40:25Speaker 3: But you recently started having oatmeal and you've.
- 40:27Speaker 2: Been like, I've been liking oatmeal right now. I'm just
- 40:30Speaker 2: like the type where like I will have the same
- 40:32Speaker 2: breakfast for like days in a row, weeks, and then
- 40:36Speaker 2: I'm like one day, I'm just like I'm sick of it.
- 40:38Speaker 2: I'm done, and so then I really struggle with trying
- 40:41Speaker 2: to find something new. So yeah, I'm going through that
- 40:44Speaker 2: right now. If anyone else is I'm right there with you.
- 40:47Speaker 2: But yeah, I'm I'm excited to find a breakfast that
- 40:50Speaker 2: just like excites me. Kaylee seems to have one right
- 40:53Speaker 2: now that I do.
- 40:54Speaker 1: I change it up, I ditch. So we were having
- 40:56Speaker 1: yogurt bowls and that's what he kind of steered you
- 40:59Speaker 1: away from it. I've recently changed to savory breakfasts with
- 41:02Speaker 1: the avocado egg and all that, and She's confused how
- 41:05Speaker 1: I went from sweet to savory. But I'm like, I
- 41:08Speaker 1: think it's honestly like a mental thing. I think you
- 41:09Speaker 1: just have to do it.
- 41:10Speaker 2: I have to force myself.
- 41:11Speaker 1: And then it just I don't know. Now I wouldn't
- 41:13Speaker 1: say crave it. I just like I'm in the process
- 41:15Speaker 1: where I'm like, Okay, this is what I've been having,
- 41:17Speaker 1: this is what I've been buying for my groceries, and
- 41:19Speaker 1: I like it.
- 41:20Speaker 2: Like your breakfast is what I crave for lunch, Like, yeah,
- 41:23Speaker 2: I love.
- 41:23Speaker 3: A good but that used to be and now I'm.
- 41:26Speaker 2: Not like yeah, and now I'm like trying to switch
- 41:30Speaker 2: to having that in the morning. But I feel like
- 41:31Speaker 2: all I crave in the morning is like a yogurt
- 41:33Speaker 2: bowl or oatmeal with honey cinnamon, Like.
- 41:36Speaker 3: And if that works for you, that's okay.
- 41:38Speaker 2: Yeah, but I just like I'm kind of sick of it,
- 41:40Speaker 2: you know.
- 41:40Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, Well, so you'll figure something out.
- 41:43Speaker 1: Yeah, there'll be something that you'll see on TikTok or
- 41:45Speaker 1: Pinterest and maybe maybe you have to do more research.
- 41:48Speaker 1: I do find searching things does help me find ways
- 41:51Speaker 1: to like incorporate into my routine. Like I found recipes
- 41:54Speaker 1: on TikTok, found this breakfast bowl that I loved, and
- 41:57Speaker 1: now I love it and I've been having it every
- 41:58Speaker 1: single morning. So I think do the research and putting
- 42:01Speaker 1: in the effort a bit more actually makes a difference,
- 42:03Speaker 1: a huge difference. All right, guys. Well that is today's episode.
- 42:07Speaker 1: I hope you guys enjoyed kind of a different episode,
