- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to a DM podcast.
- 0:03Speaker 2: We'll try to keep it as nice as we can,
- 0:05Speaker 2: but you might hear the occasional swear word in No Dribble.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Don't tell mom.
- 0:20Speaker 4: Oh, this is exciting.
- 0:22Speaker 5: We are back.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Hello, and welcome back to No Dribble, our first time
- 0:26Speaker 2: together in studio for twenty twenty five. We've been in
- 0:29Speaker 2: your ears, but that stuff that we did in the
- 0:31Speaker 2: past and just put in the time machine. But now
- 0:34Speaker 2: No Dribble is back. We are all together. There is
- 0:37Speaker 2: so much to talk about. We've missed you, all, Dribblers.
- 0:39Speaker 2: I'm Carolyn Swindell. I'm kath Cox. It feels like we
- 0:42Speaker 2: have been gone forever.
- 0:44Speaker 6: I know who.
- 0:46Speaker 5: I'm Lizellus. I don't know who either of you are.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Ah, yes, and there we are back in the spirit
- 0:54Speaker 2: of it already. So we have had a really long
- 0:56Speaker 2: holiday and some netball stuff has happened, which we will
- 0:58Speaker 2: talk about soon. But I haven't seen much of either
- 1:01Speaker 2: of you. I have seen you briefly. I saw you
- 1:04Speaker 2: and then I dropped into Lizz's place. Did screw up
- 1:06Speaker 2: the daylight saving cat? So I need to apologize. I
- 1:10Speaker 2: see across the border and got it wrong.
- 1:12Speaker 4: But yeah, what did you.
- 1:14Speaker 6: Get up to?
- 1:15Speaker 7: Well, I think the biggest news for me that we
- 1:18Speaker 7: talked about a lot before the holidays was that I
- 1:20Speaker 7: was going on a cruise and would I be into
- 1:23Speaker 7: it or not, because before we left, rather set my
- 1:26Speaker 7: hair on fire than go on a cruise. It was
- 1:29Speaker 7: tops aside from the very first day when I walked
- 1:33Speaker 7: into the buffet with all the hordes of people and
- 1:36Speaker 7: wanted to run out straight away, and then also walked
- 1:39Speaker 7: into my room and we didn't have a balcony, so
- 1:41Speaker 7: I walked into the room, shut the door, and I
- 1:43Speaker 7: got a little claustrophobic, and.
- 1:44Speaker 4: I thought, why do people like this?
- 1:46Speaker 6: But it was unreal.
- 1:47Speaker 4: You had a good time.
- 1:48Speaker 6: It was so fun.
- 1:49Speaker 2: You know what you did? You leant into that experience,
- 1:52Speaker 2: didn't you. You went, well, we're here, let's get around it.
- 1:54Speaker 7: And I think the cruise gods were aware of that
- 1:56Speaker 7: because then I won bingo.
- 1:58Speaker 4: Oh yeah, you nine hundred US. Oh my god, that's
- 2:02Speaker 4: kind of funny.
- 2:03Speaker 3: It was so good.
- 2:04Speaker 7: Yeah, so I'm converted on all fronts. It was great fun.
- 2:07Speaker 7: How many days six days, which I think was long enough. Yeah,
- 2:10Speaker 7: And we just went up to Early Beach and back.
- 2:13Speaker 6: Which was great.
- 2:14Speaker 7: So we had a little stuff over on you a
- 2:15Speaker 7: couple of days kind of cruising and great fun. Did
- 2:18Speaker 7: all the trivia, did the bingo, did the silent disco
- 2:22Speaker 7: thing or whatever you call it.
- 2:23Speaker 2: It was cool for it is the absolute secret to happiness, though,
- 2:27Speaker 2: isn't it. If you're going to do something, leaning makes
- 2:29Speaker 2: the most word and find what you can enjoy in it.
- 2:32Speaker 7: Eight for Australia. Oh god, there's a few extra kegs
- 2:35Speaker 7: that got off that shit.
- 2:36Speaker 6: But no, it was good. So yeah, that was me.
- 2:38Speaker 7: And then you know, I went to Perth and then
- 2:39Speaker 7: our trudeled down to sing Elizabeth at the.
- 2:42Speaker 4: Farm, how'd you go with daylight saving?
- 2:45Speaker 7: I was across at this time. No snake sightings, but Sparkles,
- 2:50Speaker 7: that's its name, isn't it. The green tree snake was
- 2:52Speaker 7: outside my window and I could hear it. Do you
- 2:55Speaker 7: know what noise the snake makes?
- 2:58Speaker 4: No what it's like a duck?
- 3:00Speaker 6: Elizabeth? Can you do your best snake for us?
- 3:02Speaker 5: Well, I've never heard and snake making noise.
- 3:05Speaker 1: I do have a feeling that Sparkles might be like
- 3:08Speaker 1: a new species of snake, and I'm reluctant to sort
- 3:11Speaker 1: of put this out there in case I have to,
- 3:13Speaker 1: I don't know, move house and leave our land because
- 3:16Speaker 1: they've got this really rare species.
- 3:17Speaker 5: Now it barks, it goes, you can hear it.
- 3:23Speaker 1: And I thought it was the frogs that was chasing
- 3:24Speaker 1: when I first heard it, but we realize it's actually
- 3:27Speaker 1: a snake.
- 3:29Speaker 7: I was with Alyssa Healy, the cricket guru, obviously everybody
- 3:33Speaker 7: knows who she is. On the weekend, Liza and I
- 3:36Speaker 7: had an event. It was actually Tuesday last week. She
- 3:39Speaker 7: showed me the snake that's on her property. It's a
- 3:42Speaker 7: seven foot python.
- 3:45Speaker 1: It's massive. It is huge, huge, a really thick snake.
- 3:50Speaker 1: So that would sort of give me pause for thought.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Mind you.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Matthew and I was spraying camp for laurels because they're
- 3:54Speaker 1: a weed. We have to spray more trapsing through the
- 3:58Speaker 1: paddick recently and we saw massive python wrapped around a
- 4:02Speaker 1: small tree and that was unreal.
- 4:05Speaker 6: Where was that far from the house?
- 4:07Speaker 5: Oh, a couple of meters, No, it was right underneath
- 4:11Speaker 5: your bedroom.
- 4:12Speaker 4: Stop.
- 4:13Speaker 7: They're good ones if you're going to have a snake,
- 4:15Speaker 7: aren't Pythons for the most part, gentle like, They're not
- 4:17Speaker 7: kind of ones that are going to bite your attack
- 4:19Speaker 7: you or whatever else.
- 4:19Speaker 6: They could just strangle you to death.
- 4:21Speaker 4: And they're not poisonous.
- 4:23Speaker 5: No, they're not aggressive.
- 4:24Speaker 1: So pythons are good because they keep your wrap and
- 4:27Speaker 1: mouse population down. And like most the only sanctions need
- 4:31Speaker 1: to worry about a brown snakes. And in thirteen years
- 4:35Speaker 1: at our house, I think I've seen four brown snakes.
- 4:39Speaker 5: Like at the farm, there's too many.
- 4:42Speaker 2: But yeah, get I get that. It's the outdoors. I
- 4:44Speaker 2: understand this happens out there. My son is currently trying
- 4:47Speaker 2: to mount a case to be allowed to have a
- 4:49Speaker 2: snake as a pet, and I said, I'm not like,
- 4:53Speaker 2: I'm not a hard note, but I just do not
- 4:55Speaker 2: see the appeal, Like what, it's just something to look after.
- 4:58Speaker 2: It's not like, oh, let the snake sit on.
- 5:00Speaker 4: My lap while we watch TV.
- 5:02Speaker 6: Like it's not what it show your affection. Nor what
- 5:06Speaker 6: kind of snake then a python?
- 5:07Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, some sort of non paper you're not a no, Well,
- 5:11Speaker 2: I'm curious to understand the case behind it. I'm not
- 5:14Speaker 2: a hard no. I'm a pretty soft no. Like I'm
- 5:18Speaker 2: very much leaning towards no. But it's like, convince me,
- 5:21Speaker 2: tell me why this would be in any way a
- 5:22Speaker 2: good thing to have.
- 5:23Speaker 5: Well, you have to catch your own mice and stuff
- 5:26Speaker 5: to feed it.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Or is there somewhere you could like do you like,
- 5:28Speaker 1: is there a place on the internet where you can
- 5:30Speaker 1: just buy packs of frozen masks?
- 5:31Speaker 7: Can you just get them from pet barn? Yeah, they're
- 5:35Speaker 7: all frozen and there's a freezer section and they have
- 5:37Speaker 7: frozen Why you in pet bark Because Harber is obsessed
- 5:41Speaker 7: with animals, particularly dogs. Every time we go near a
- 5:44Speaker 7: pet shop, she has to go in and look at
- 5:46Speaker 7: everything just in case we decide to get Yeah, and
- 5:49Speaker 7: there's a freezer section full of that stuff and crickets
- 5:53Speaker 7: and all sorts of Yeah.
- 5:55Speaker 2: My mum was a biology teacher when I was in
- 5:57Speaker 2: primary school and I remember driving out with her somewhere
- 6:00Speaker 2: where she had to go and pick up all the
- 6:01Speaker 2: dead rats that have been pinned on boards for the
- 6:04Speaker 2: year eleven biology students to dissect and put them in
- 6:07Speaker 2: the back of our car. And I'm like, this is
- 6:10Speaker 2: this is the stuff of nightmares. I was seven or.
- 6:12Speaker 6: Eight years old.
- 6:13Speaker 2: That stink, yes, yeah, yeah, And the place that we
- 6:17Speaker 2: had to go to stank. And it's like, what type
- 6:20Speaker 2: of torture chamber is this that these people spend their
- 6:22Speaker 2: time putting rats on boards. I pinned out, like crucifying
- 6:26Speaker 2: these things.
- 6:28Speaker 7: Wow, we've completely moved off the topic of holidays.
- 6:32Speaker 4: What did you do?
- 6:34Speaker 7: Oh?
- 6:34Speaker 5: Look, you know I had people calling in.
- 6:36Speaker 1: An hour late all the way through, whether it was
- 6:41Speaker 1: either of you two or Meghan Anderson's, everyone.
- 6:43Speaker 5: Was always an hour late.
- 6:44Speaker 1: That's what I get for living up near the on
- 6:46Speaker 1: the right side of the Queensland border. Please send all
- 6:49Speaker 1: of your complaints Queenslanders to not dribble. I won't answer
- 6:53Speaker 1: any of them.
- 6:54Speaker 3: I know.
- 6:54Speaker 5: I had a nice summer.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Actually turned my computer off the week before Christmas and
- 6:57Speaker 1: didn't turn back on and on to the end of January.
- 6:59Speaker 1: I was pretty brain dead, but we went down to
- 7:04Speaker 1: we went to Sydney for news and when saw Hamilton.
- 7:08Speaker 1: I don't know if you guys have seen hat.
- 7:10Speaker 4: It's great, isn't it.
- 7:11Speaker 5: It's so good.
- 7:12Speaker 1: So my kids just walk around singing like a Lafayette song,
- 7:16Speaker 1: you know.
- 7:18Speaker 2: The one we like to sing is You'll be back,
- 7:21Speaker 2: which I think it is quite ironic at the moment.
- 7:23Speaker 4: I'm sure there's a lot of people in.
- 7:24Speaker 2: The US going could we go back and be a
- 7:26Speaker 2: protector of the United Kingdom.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Please years, I'll kill your friends and family just to
- 7:33Speaker 1: remind you of my love.
- 7:37Speaker 6: Yeah, so I'll leave you to it.
- 7:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 7:41Speaker 1: So that was great, and then we went to the
- 7:43Speaker 1: Cricket which was fantastic, and then we went down to
- 7:46Speaker 1: went to the Snowy Mountains and we camped at Threadboat Diggings,
- 7:49Speaker 1: which was fantastic if you ever get a chance to
- 7:52Speaker 1: do it. It's like two bucks a night, which seems
- 7:54Speaker 1: really cheapen to you you're spending fifty bucks a day
- 7:56Speaker 1: for your National Parks past.
- 7:58Speaker 5: But anyhow, so we.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Camp there and we walked up Mount Kaziosco, which was
- 8:03Speaker 1: well and I'd like to say, we climb Mount Koziosko.
- 8:06Speaker 5: You do it, just stroll fifteen thousand people strolling.
- 8:11Speaker 2: I think it's accessible, like it's wheelchair accessible.
- 8:14Speaker 4: Almost the whole way to the top.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Now yeah, yes, yes, But to do that first you
- 8:19Speaker 1: actually have to catch the lift up, which was we've
- 8:22Speaker 1: spent out two hundred and twenty bucks on lift tickets
- 8:24Speaker 1: for the forest. Yeah it was expensive, but anywhow So,
- 8:28Speaker 1: but then the next day I was like, oh, there's
- 8:30Speaker 1: all these mountain bike trails that go through from Threadbay
- 8:34Speaker 1: diggings like all the way along as like it's like
- 8:36Speaker 1: thirty four kilometers Threadbow Valley trail and it was flat right.
- 8:40Speaker 1: So when you go down to Threadbow, there's all these
- 8:42Speaker 1: mountain bikers who are catching the chair lifts up and
- 8:44Speaker 1: riding down the black runs down, but the one that
- 8:47Speaker 1: goes along beside the river for thirty something kilometers is
- 8:49Speaker 1: a green run.
- 8:50Speaker 5: And I was like, oh, we'll be fine, we can
- 8:52Speaker 5: do this.
- 8:53Speaker 1: We don't own a mountain bike between us, but we've
- 8:55Speaker 1: got we've all got cruisers. So I say to the
- 8:57Speaker 1: kids in Math, you put your helmets on and we'll
- 9:00Speaker 1: do this green ride up to Threadbow. And so we
- 9:04Speaker 1: did it, and it was like fifteen kilometers of hell.
- 9:06Speaker 4: It was on your own, so you were on your
- 9:07Speaker 4: cruiser bikes.
- 9:08Speaker 5: You were on our cruiser bikes.
- 9:10Speaker 1: And this woman at one point, all these people are
- 9:12Speaker 1: riding past us, more than only one's going the way
- 9:14Speaker 1: where all these people are riding past us.
- 9:16Speaker 5: And this woman at one point she's there in like.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Her full face mask and her mountain bike with suspension
- 9:22Speaker 1: and like the full like the chest protection and everything.
- 9:25Speaker 5: She looked at me and she goes good luck.
- 9:30Speaker 1: It will be fine, and the kids are getting winder
- 9:32Speaker 1: and crankier, and everyone found to take a turn and
- 9:36Speaker 1: end up going down this really steep hill. And now
- 9:38Speaker 1: that stopped from going all the way down to the
- 9:39Speaker 1: river where she grabbed onto a bush and took a
- 9:43Speaker 1: massive stack. Anyway, we got to the end and I said, yeah,
- 9:46Speaker 1: we did it, and us is riding down the main
- 9:49Speaker 1: street of Threadboat with his hands in the air, no hands,
- 9:52Speaker 1: like he's just one of the top.
- 9:56Speaker 5: And we got to the end. But I said to someone,
- 9:58Speaker 5: we've just ridden from Threadboat Diggings. They go, why did
- 10:01Speaker 5: you ride up hill?
- 10:06Speaker 7: Okay, so there is a lesson in this. If Liz
- 10:08Speaker 7: Ellis wants you to go on a bike tour with
- 10:10Speaker 7: her anywhere, immediately say no. She's telling me this story
- 10:16Speaker 7: during the holidays, and I had flashbacks to when we
- 10:19Speaker 7: were in America and we're in Cape Cod and Liz
- 10:22Speaker 7: said the same thing, let's go for a little ride,
- 10:24Speaker 7: and I think I was your son and your daughter
- 10:26Speaker 7: winging at the end of that as well.
- 10:28Speaker 6: It went on and on and on, and I kept saying.
- 10:30Speaker 7: Should we turn around, knowing full well we'd have to
- 10:32Speaker 7: go back the way We just came.
- 10:34Speaker 1: And so remember my mom was with us, and she
- 10:37Speaker 1: was like seventy. But what I had done on that trip,
- 10:40Speaker 1: I had mucked up. I'd forgotten that I was looking
- 10:42Speaker 1: at miles.
- 10:47Speaker 6: Yes, it was twenty k.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Twenty godar I do have form in that regard. So
- 10:56Speaker 1: my family starting to talk to me.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Did you all end the bike? Cried with the same
- 11:00Speaker 2: number of teeth that you started with.
- 11:03Speaker 5: Yes, we did. And the other thing that I didn't
- 11:06Speaker 5: really think about.
- 11:07Speaker 1: It's a one way right, so you see, and there's
- 11:10Speaker 1: no shuttles or eating to get your back. And I
- 11:13Speaker 1: was when we started my we'll just ride back. So
- 11:16Speaker 1: nobody wanted to ride back, so they made me. I
- 11:19Speaker 1: had to go up and ride on the Snowy Mountains
- 11:20Speaker 1: Highway and were so the only people riding the trail
- 11:23Speaker 1: bikes like mountain bikers with the leg year and the
- 11:26Speaker 1: only people who were riding the Stowy Mountains Highway were
- 11:29Speaker 1: like on road bikes taking my cruiser.
- 11:32Speaker 6: Oh my god, how wracked were you? Well the time
- 11:37Speaker 6: you got home?
- 11:38Speaker 4: But honestly, what a pack of amateurs like?
- 11:42Speaker 1: Seriously, But I did earn my view that day when
- 11:44Speaker 1: I cracked my pale ale at the end of the day,
- 11:47Speaker 1: I was like chee.
- 11:47Speaker 7: Up and then getting off a bike seat after that
- 11:51Speaker 7: long as well, I couldn't walk for days.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I had a very very relaxing holiday obviously.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Well look, we haven't discussed my holiday and most of
- 12:02Speaker 2: it was at home, which was very nice. But I
- 12:04Speaker 2: am now, thanks to Holidays, a development accredited development coach
- 12:09Speaker 2: with Netball Australia, thank you very much, which I think
- 12:13Speaker 2: makes me the highest qualified coach amongst the notiable hosts.
- 12:18Speaker 6: No, that's not right.
- 12:19Speaker 4: What are you?
- 12:19Speaker 6: I'm an intermediate, I'm an advanced are you?
- 12:22Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 12:22Speaker 6: Since when? Since ever? Just don't do it.
- 12:27Speaker 4: I bet it's expired.
- 12:28Speaker 5: That's one.
- 12:29Speaker 4: I bet it's expired.
- 12:31Speaker 7: So I would be the highest qualified this Okay now you.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Are yes anyway, Yes, So I've just done my development
- 12:38Speaker 2: coach accreditation. I had to do my Rules of Netball exam,
- 12:42Speaker 2: which I passed by the skin of my teeth.
- 12:43Speaker 7: Well, it's because my good friend Karen was running the
- 12:46Speaker 7: courses today. She text me in the morning's like, oh god,
- 12:49Speaker 7: I've got trouble here with me today. One of your
- 12:51Speaker 7: no dribble counterparts is in the house, so we'll be
- 12:54Speaker 7: nice to her.
- 12:55Speaker 2: She must have mentioned the podcast. I think this was
- 12:58Speaker 2: it was implied that if everyone in the course was
- 13:01Speaker 2: not willing to commit to starting to listen to the podcast,
- 13:04Speaker 2: that they weren't going to pass. She was she's the
- 13:05Speaker 2: best marketing we've met had well plodcast.
- 13:08Speaker 4: Yeah, thank you. She was fantastic. It was great.
- 13:10Speaker 2: That was really it was good to get out there,
- 13:12Speaker 2: and I feel inspired for the netball year ahead because
- 13:15Speaker 2: my girls are going into under twelve. So I've just
- 13:17Speaker 2: started to feel a bit like just winging it here
- 13:20Speaker 2: is not enough anymore for these kids. I need to
- 13:22Speaker 2: be able to give them more.
- 13:23Speaker 6: Now, did you need to do that or you just
- 13:25Speaker 6: wanted to.
- 13:26Speaker 4: Just wanted to it?
- 13:27Speaker 2: Yeah, because I just I just feel a little bit
- 13:28Speaker 2: like I'm I'm not able to give them what they
- 13:32Speaker 2: need at the moment, and it's like, you know, no
- 13:34Speaker 2: one else is sticking their hand up, But that doesn't
- 13:36Speaker 2: mean they should get a second rate job. If I'm
- 13:38Speaker 2: willing to do it, I should try to do it well.
- 13:39Speaker 2: So I'm so excited and yeah it was great. So
- 13:42Speaker 2: I learned a lot.
- 13:43Speaker 6: But you had a bit more netball during the holidays
- 13:45Speaker 6: as well, didn't you.
- 13:46Speaker 4: I did I did. I went and tell the Swifts
- 13:48Speaker 4: play in New Zealand.
- 13:49Speaker 3: That was so good.
- 13:51Speaker 4: It was fantastic.
- 13:51Speaker 2: It was at Netball Central, so it was a really
- 13:54Speaker 2: intimate court. Was only three or four thousand people there,
- 13:57Speaker 2: and New Zealand really used it as you know it was.
- 14:00Speaker 2: It was trials for them, so they were rotating their
- 14:02Speaker 2: players through a lot. The Swifts won, but I think
- 14:05Speaker 2: that was also a product of New Zealand go. We
- 14:07Speaker 2: want to give everyone court time, we want to test
- 14:09Speaker 2: all sorts of different combinations and things. But it was
- 14:12Speaker 2: so fantastic. Was great to see Graycenweki on court. But
- 14:15Speaker 2: another couple of newbies there, so Verity Simmons, I had
- 14:19Speaker 2: not seen before. I don't know what happened why I
- 14:22Speaker 2: hadn't seen her play before, and I don't know whether
- 14:25Speaker 2: it's her time in AFL, but she is a weapon,
- 14:28Speaker 2: like just so so strong, so athletic. That's going to
- 14:31Speaker 2: be exciting. But the other one Shannie Lambdon and this
- 14:35Speaker 2: story Bloody loved this. So she's she'll turn twenty seven
- 14:39Speaker 2: in April and she has been a training partner for
- 14:42Speaker 2: eight years.
- 14:43Speaker 4: Oh that's commitment with Collingwood.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Then she moved to the Vixen's and then the first
- 14:47Speaker 2: time she got any game time was like in round
- 14:50Speaker 2: nine last year. Three minutes in that and when Vixen's
- 14:53Speaker 2: defeated the man you remember, when Rudy Ellis rolled around,
- 14:56Speaker 2: Clin had to go off. So that was the first time.
- 14:58Speaker 2: So Shannie's been a training partner for sort of seven
- 15:01Speaker 2: plus years at this stage, and it's like, now you
- 15:03Speaker 2: get some caught times, You've got a couple of games,
- 15:06Speaker 2: and then Brian has picked her up and now it's like,
- 15:08Speaker 2: what a great story of resilience and determination, and you
- 15:14Speaker 2: know that you know, some people get it, you know,
- 15:16Speaker 2: I hope White has been a training partner for the
- 15:18Speaker 2: Giants and at under nineteens is going to be starting
- 15:20Speaker 2: with them, or you know, certainly in the in the ten.
- 15:23Speaker 2: And it's like that's good luck for her because Gina
- 15:26Speaker 2: Crampton's pregnant, but you know, for Shannie Lamb and just
- 15:29Speaker 2: having to hang in there, keep believing in it and going,
- 15:32Speaker 2: I have this opportunity. It must be so hard not
- 15:34Speaker 2: to get bitter, I guess or exhausted.
- 15:36Speaker 7: Yeah, but also open to the fact that you know,
- 15:38Speaker 7: she had to move for that opportunity, yep, to come
- 15:41Speaker 7: to Fruition, and that's in itself is a big deal,
- 15:44Speaker 7: like to up and move your life and whatever you
- 15:46Speaker 7: were doing in Melbourne and come up and potentially a
- 15:48Speaker 7: partner and whatever else. But I'll tell you what the
- 15:51Speaker 7: swifts very.
- 15:52Speaker 6: As you say, looking fit. I saw her the other day.
- 15:55Speaker 7: She will tell you though, that it is so much
- 15:58Speaker 7: harder to go from AFL back to netball because in
- 16:02Speaker 7: AFL it's long run. So like you got to train yourself.
- 16:04Speaker 7: I remember Shanni Norder, Shanni Layton saying that she had
- 16:08Speaker 7: to train herself to run. She had to learn to
- 16:10Speaker 7: run because a netball you don't ever just stretch the
- 16:14Speaker 7: legs out and trot. You're just all changing direction. So
- 16:18Speaker 7: she said when she went to AFL, she had to
- 16:19Speaker 7: learn how to run again. And then Verity obviously found
- 16:23Speaker 7: the same thing. But now she's come back, so she said,
- 16:25Speaker 7: she's still struggling a little bit with the explosive side
- 16:28Speaker 7: of stuff. So for you to say she's a weapon,
- 16:30Speaker 7: watch out, she's going to get better.
- 16:32Speaker 4: I just couldn't believe it.
- 16:33Speaker 2: It was and it was so great to see this
- 16:34Speaker 2: game because we were really close to it too. I
- 16:36Speaker 2: mean you get that all the time, you know, in
- 16:39Speaker 2: your good seats, but I recognize that you're working and
- 16:41Speaker 2: you don't get the can of gin in your seat.
- 16:43Speaker 2: But yeah, it's really nice to be that close to
- 16:47Speaker 2: it and get that sense of that power. And yeah,
- 16:51Speaker 2: it was great. It made me so excited to get
- 16:54Speaker 2: into this year. Met some dribblers. I met Steph, and
- 16:57Speaker 2: I met Carolyn who we'd met at our live event. Hi, Steph, Carol,
- 17:00Speaker 2: good to see that. There were some others there was great.
- 17:02Speaker 4: Yeah, it's so good.
- 17:03Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, that's so good. Like I keep saying, if
- 17:06Speaker 7: the Swifts don't win it this year, something has gone
- 17:07Speaker 7: horribly wrong.
- 17:09Speaker 1: I had to say, Carolyn, are you on the bandwagon
- 17:12Speaker 1: with Coxie about the Swifts this year?
- 17:13Speaker 4: I have already booked my flights to Melbourne, would you anyway?
- 17:17Speaker 6: Though?
- 17:17Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 17:18Speaker 2: Yeah, it's nothing, but look, it's feeling good, isn't it.
- 17:24Speaker 2: But you know, look at the Thunderbirds and the Vixens
- 17:27Speaker 2: last year in that final days, that's two exciting teams again.
- 17:32Speaker 6: Yeah yeah with no changes.
- 17:33Speaker 7: Yeah, stractors, we've got grading tonight.
- 17:38Speaker 6: So Harper's not playing nets that go anymore. She's gone
- 17:40Speaker 6: up a.
- 17:41Speaker 7: Year into tens and now they do grading, which has
- 17:44Speaker 7: been very controversial because the team's basically split up now,
- 17:50Speaker 7: which is kind of sad, like they all obviously wanted
- 17:52Speaker 7: to stay together.
- 17:54Speaker 6: But at some stage it's inevitable, isn't it.
- 17:56Speaker 7: You've got to kind of do your grading and people
- 17:58Speaker 7: end up where they end up. That's been tough, but
- 18:01Speaker 7: that the first lot of that will start tonight. But
- 18:03Speaker 7: we've lost like eighty percent of the team.
- 18:05Speaker 5: Okay, So can I ask you this question.
- 18:06Speaker 1: I don't know quite how grading works because I'm in
- 18:10Speaker 1: a little country.
- 18:10Speaker 4: Would you like the highest qualified coach in the not trip.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Oh, because I love having my little team who I've
- 18:19Speaker 1: had them since summer, but lets it go and now
- 18:23Speaker 1: they'll be fourteens this year and to just have them
- 18:26Speaker 1: the whole time and watch them develop.
- 18:28Speaker 5: And I don't know, I don't know how I go.
- 18:31Speaker 5: I don't know how i'd feel about grading.
- 18:32Speaker 1: But I mean, I had quick conversation, a quick conversation
- 18:35Speaker 1: with you, Carolyn, when you were here at my house.
- 18:37Speaker 1: But I quite understand the rationale for it.
- 18:40Speaker 2: So I think that the rationale is so my daughter
- 18:43Speaker 2: has been in graded teams now for a few years,
- 18:45Speaker 2: and obviously they want to stick.
- 18:46Speaker 4: Together and whatever.
- 18:47Speaker 2: But I actually think it's quite good as a community
- 18:50Speaker 2: club that they are put into teams with different kids,
- 18:53Speaker 2: because then they get to know other people in the
- 18:55Speaker 2: neighborhood as well. But I think I reckon part of
- 18:58Speaker 2: it is actually some of these girls won't push themselves
- 19:01Speaker 2: if they are just in the team with their friends,
- 19:03Speaker 2: and that in order to find those kids who might
- 19:06Speaker 2: need the nurturing, who might actually have, you know, real talent,
- 19:09Speaker 2: you've got to be able to kind of put them
- 19:11Speaker 2: into different environments. And my team change is a bit
- 19:14Speaker 2: every year, like I've had probably this is the third year,
- 19:18Speaker 2: fourth year I co'tmember, but I have about five who
- 19:21Speaker 2: stayed with me the whole time, and then others have changed.
- 19:23Speaker 2: And I think that's been good for all of them,
- 19:25Speaker 2: that they're getting fresh players in and learning how to
- 19:28Speaker 2: play with different people. But what I didn't realize is
- 19:31Speaker 2: they stop grading at under fourteenth, and I think that's
- 19:33Speaker 2: because at that age a lot of the kids are
- 19:36Speaker 2: going to drop out unless they can play with their friends.
- 19:38Speaker 2: So it's like, do this for a few years, try
- 19:41Speaker 2: and see if you're better than you think. Then you're
- 19:42Speaker 2: giving yourself credit for. But then after that in order
- 19:45Speaker 2: to keep you in the sport, because that's the age
- 19:47Speaker 2: when they're all going to drop out. It's like, yep,
- 19:48Speaker 2: do what you want, be a team that you want.
- 19:51Speaker 2: So I quite like it, but I get that it's
- 19:53Speaker 2: I get that it's it's an opportunity cost.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I was thinking that, Like, you know, one of
- 19:59Speaker 1: the things that you sort of wrestle with all the
- 20:01Speaker 1: time is how do you stop the drop off?
- 20:03Speaker 5: Right?
- 20:03Speaker 1: And I get that you want to make sure that
- 20:07Speaker 1: the kids who want to push each other and be
- 20:09Speaker 1: competitive can all play together, and then the kids who
- 20:11Speaker 1: sort of don't just like to I don't know, it
- 20:13Speaker 1: just goes through the gigal type yeah.
- 20:15Speaker 5: Right, so that they can do it.
- 20:17Speaker 1: But like, one of the big things about about playing sports,
- 20:20Speaker 1: particularly in your teenage years, is that you get to
- 20:22Speaker 1: hang out with your mates. So yeah, yeah, you've got
- 20:25Speaker 1: to sort of cater to both of those.
- 20:27Speaker 2: But you know, with girls at school often there are
- 20:30Speaker 2: friendship dramas, and I think it's great for them to
- 20:32Speaker 2: have friends who are not you know, hundred because they'll
- 20:36Speaker 2: stay with you know, they'll join they'll join a team,
- 20:39Speaker 2: usually with people from school and so then the problems
- 20:41Speaker 2: that they're having there, but to have different, different social
- 20:45Speaker 2: outlets there. But I think that when you're playing for
- 20:47Speaker 2: a community club, it's not a school club, and that's
- 20:50Speaker 2: you know, you should actually be open to that idea
- 20:52Speaker 2: that your kid's going to be playing with kids from
- 20:54Speaker 2: other schools in the neighborhood and probably end up a
- 20:57Speaker 2: high school together.
- 20:57Speaker 4: Anyway.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I was going to say, it's actually and it's
- 21:00Speaker 1: been interesting watching my daughter this year, going from year
- 21:02Speaker 1: seventy year eight, and you know, they've got put in
- 21:05Speaker 1: their classes last year at her high school and she
- 21:09Speaker 1: made a heap of friends within her class, and now
- 21:12Speaker 1: she's got friends who are really upset because they've all
- 21:14Speaker 1: jumbled up the classes this year, and you know, because
- 21:17Speaker 1: she's happy to be friends with whoever, she doesn't care.
- 21:19Speaker 1: She's like, oh, I'll just make friends in my new class,
- 21:21Speaker 1: but I'll still keep my old friends. And perhaps the
- 21:24Speaker 1: fact that she's played sport before just makes that whole
- 21:26Speaker 1: process easier because she's had to walk into teams not
- 21:28Speaker 1: so much network because she's a play with the mates,
- 21:30Speaker 1: where she's had to walk into rugby.
- 21:32Speaker 4: Teams where she's then a girl too.
- 21:34Speaker 1: It's like, yeah, right, so she knows she's pretty capable
- 21:37Speaker 1: of just being there by herself. So certainly that grading
- 21:40Speaker 1: component probably equips up skills kids to be able to
- 21:43Speaker 1: you know, when you walk into high school and you've
- 21:45Speaker 1: got to you're not with your mates and you're not
- 21:47Speaker 1: with your safety net, you can actually you can make
- 21:49Speaker 1: new friends.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's good for resilience building. It's also like,
- 21:52Speaker 2: you know what, you're not going to get everything there.
- 21:54Speaker 2: So you might not be in the first division doesn't
- 21:57Speaker 2: mean that you can't enjoy your netball, doesn't mean that
- 21:59Speaker 2: you can be a really powerful and important player within
- 22:03Speaker 2: that team.
- 22:03Speaker 6: It's a life lesson, isn't it.
- 22:05Speaker 5: Yeah, but do you reckon?
- 22:06Speaker 1: It's not the kids that need the lesson sometimes a mute.
- 22:13Speaker 7: Now, speaking of your children, Elizabeth, last night was the
- 22:16Speaker 7: finale of I'm a Celebrity.
- 22:19Speaker 6: Get Me out of Here, And you know.
- 22:20Speaker 7: I couldn't help but think of them, because last night
- 22:24Speaker 7: in the finales when they let the families run into camp,
- 22:27Speaker 7: and I was thinking of your kids and how special
- 22:30Speaker 7: that was obviously hugely special for you as well.
- 22:34Speaker 6: Did you guys all watch it together?
- 22:35Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 22:36Speaker 1: We actually we watched the other that we watched on
- 22:39Speaker 1: Thursday night when they went from five to three. Oh yeah,
- 22:42Speaker 1: but I must have been Wednesday, So Wednesday we must
- 22:44Speaker 1: have been watching it when they went down to five.
- 22:46Speaker 1: And the kids were like, oh, I remember this time
- 22:48Speaker 1: two years ago. Was it quite two years ago because
- 22:51Speaker 1: it was a different time, but anyway, they remember when
- 22:53Speaker 1: it was us, and they had all their bags packed
- 22:56Speaker 1: and I didn't realize this. Of course I had all
- 22:58Speaker 1: their bags packed ready to go, and they were going
- 23:00Speaker 1: to get the call that night if they were required
- 23:02Speaker 1: to go to South Stop.
- 23:04Speaker 6: So they go for the final five.
- 23:06Speaker 1: They go for the final final if because they don't
- 23:10Speaker 1: have time, yes, like they've they've got to leave on
- 23:13Speaker 1: the Thursday morning to get everybody over there to do
- 23:16Speaker 1: the trial for the Sunday night show, right, so they
- 23:20Speaker 1: get they basically fly the families into the last five.
- 23:23Speaker 1: So they and like my kids knew that, and so
- 23:27Speaker 1: they had packed their bags waiting to see.
- 23:29Speaker 5: If I got through.
- 23:29Speaker 1: And the only time in the whole competition that you
- 23:33Speaker 1: know when they say it might be you when we're
- 23:34Speaker 1: going at that was the only night that I was
- 23:37Speaker 1: in the bottom.
- 23:37Speaker 4: Oh no.
- 23:39Speaker 1: And so the kids were there and they were like, no,
- 23:43Speaker 1: they sort of got themselves to go to South Africa.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Matthew's like, please God, let her get out because then
- 23:49Speaker 1: I don't have to get on its kids on the
- 23:54Speaker 1: other side of the world.
- 23:55Speaker 5: So he's praying one way and the kids are praying
- 23:57Speaker 5: the other way.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Anyway, it was just fun to hear them talk, like
- 24:00Speaker 1: to remedisce about that night. And then Matthew was lying
- 24:03Speaker 1: in bed and like he didn't get the email through
- 24:06Speaker 1: with the details until close to midnight and they were
- 24:08Speaker 1: getting picked up at five thirty am the next Oh
- 24:11Speaker 1: my god, get a part of the Gold Coast and
- 24:13Speaker 1: enough flying Gold Coast Melbourne, Melbourne, Dohat, Dohart, joe Burg,
- 24:17Speaker 1: joe Burg.
- 24:18Speaker 5: Hopes for it.
- 24:19Speaker 7: Well, oh my god, with two kids, very direct flights
- 24:23Speaker 7: from Australia.
- 24:25Speaker 6: To joe Burg. Sure, yeah, they're not economical.
- 24:29Speaker 7: Only when you become the Queen of the Jungle do
- 24:31Speaker 7: you get business class on the way back?
- 24:33Speaker 5: That's right. So yeah, so that was fie.
- 24:35Speaker 1: But then to watch them and to have you know,
- 24:36Speaker 1: when Maddie Jay was sitting there and his kids walked in.
- 24:39Speaker 5: And he just burst into tears.
- 24:40Speaker 1: I was watching and I thought, I like that moment
- 24:43Speaker 1: is so overwhelming because you've been thinking about your family
- 24:47Speaker 1: and your kids, but you know that they belong at home,
- 24:49Speaker 1: and suddenly when they're in the jungle with you, it's
- 24:52Speaker 1: it's really jarring. And it was funny because like when
- 24:56Speaker 1: you see your family and it's so emotional. I couldn't
- 24:59Speaker 1: stop seeing them and hugging them and I want to
- 25:01Speaker 1: talk to them. And then you have to go out
- 25:03Speaker 1: and do the trial. And that night Asha and Harry
- 25:07Speaker 1: and I got home and we actually were like, oh,
- 25:11Speaker 1: thank god, we're back here. See I said, home back
- 25:13Speaker 1: to the jungle, got back to camp. We almost needed
- 25:17Speaker 1: a night to sort of get used to being back
- 25:20Speaker 1: out with your family, and so you have that time
- 25:22Speaker 1: you need to come back and just sort of decompress
- 25:24Speaker 1: a bit.
- 25:25Speaker 5: So I think it would have been almost.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Too overwhelming to go out with your families and stay
- 25:29Speaker 1: at Actually were quite happy to go back into our
- 25:31Speaker 1: little hearty ole list.
- 25:33Speaker 7: Did obviously you miss them right because you don't see them,
- 25:36Speaker 7: there's no communication. Did they miss you though? Because they
- 25:38Speaker 7: see you every night like they're watching the Telly and
- 25:41Speaker 7: they see you. So what was their take on it?
- 25:43Speaker 1: They missed me, but because I mean I was still
- 25:46Speaker 1: I wasn't at home, right, So they saw him for
- 25:47Speaker 1: an hour and a half, but the rest of the
- 25:48Speaker 1: time not at home.
- 25:49Speaker 5: And Austin was I think six.
- 25:53Speaker 1: He turned seven when I was in the jungle, and
- 25:56Speaker 1: the first night, for the first week, every time they
- 25:58Speaker 1: did a VIC and it wasn't me, he cried, I
- 26:01Speaker 1: just home, me to come home, and I'd missed his
- 26:04Speaker 1: birthday and so that was really hard.
- 26:06Speaker 5: So yeah, so they knew it.
- 26:07Speaker 1: I was up to I just I hated it because
- 26:11Speaker 1: like you can say that in the jungle for months
- 26:13Speaker 1: if you know that your founily's okay, But the hard
- 26:15Speaker 1: thing is that you just don't know they're okay.
- 26:17Speaker 5: But yeah, when I was watching and I saw Sam
- 26:19Speaker 5: Friday and his little girls, and I was like, yeah,
- 26:21Speaker 5: I remember.
- 26:22Speaker 6: That I picked him. I picked him. He is the
- 26:24Speaker 6: winner episode.
- 26:26Speaker 4: You've picked the last couple of winners from the first.
- 26:29Speaker 6: And the year before. I picked Sky.
- 26:31Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 26:31Speaker 7: There's just some personalities you're like, you're a tops human,
- 26:34Speaker 7: you can just tell early and they get on with everybody.
- 26:37Speaker 7: And I mean that's why Liz was always going to win.
- 26:39Speaker 7: That was easy from the get go. But watching the show,
- 26:42Speaker 7: there's so I feel like ringing you nearly every time.
- 26:45Speaker 7: I need to have you on the speaker phone as
- 26:47Speaker 7: I'm watching the show because there's so many things I
- 26:48Speaker 7: want to ask. One of the ones I was thinking
- 26:51Speaker 7: of last night, so one of the last challenges, they
- 26:53Speaker 7: just got covered in slime, all sorts of horrendous shit.
- 26:57Speaker 7: I was like, where do they get their clean clothes from?
- 27:00Speaker 3: Then?
- 27:00Speaker 7: Obviously not just popping out and washing those, And like, so,
- 27:02Speaker 7: how many sets are clothes do you have when you're
- 27:04Speaker 7: in there?
- 27:05Speaker 5: You have three sets?
- 27:06Speaker 1: You had a couple of sets, so like from memory,
- 27:09Speaker 1: I had like a long sleeve khaki shirt, a singlet
- 27:14Speaker 1: and maybe two T shirts, two pairs of shorts, and
- 27:17Speaker 1: a pair of pants.
- 27:18Speaker 5: You actually have to wash your hand, wash your clothes.
- 27:20Speaker 7: You go.
- 27:21Speaker 1: So when they got slimed, you get back and you
- 27:24Speaker 1: have a shower, and the shower's cold at night. So
- 27:28Speaker 1: and we were there in April and it was so
- 27:30Speaker 1: I was a bit colder.
- 27:31Speaker 5: So you get back and I.
- 27:32Speaker 1: You siddenly cry because you get back and you'd be cold,
- 27:35Speaker 1: and then you have to get into a cold shower,
- 27:37Speaker 1: and then I would just leave my clothes in a pie. Like,
- 27:40Speaker 1: I'd give them a rinse in the shower and then
- 27:42Speaker 1: I'd get up the next morning.
- 27:43Speaker 5: And because you got nothing to do, you have to
- 27:45Speaker 5: like the.
- 27:46Speaker 1: Only way I stayed saying was to establish a little
- 27:48Speaker 1: routine for myself. So I've got them every morning, and
- 27:51Speaker 1: I went down to the gym and I made myself
- 27:52Speaker 1: in jokes, I thought, I don't get time to do
- 27:54Speaker 1: this at home. Have a good long stretch, do some pilates,
- 27:58Speaker 1: and then I'd go and have like my little hand
- 28:00Speaker 1: of oats, and then I'd go and do my hand washing,
- 28:02Speaker 1: and which would take me up to when they started
- 28:04Speaker 1: filming the show. So, yeah, it's gross, right, you end
- 28:06Speaker 1: up with all this gunk over here, and yeah, you
- 28:10Speaker 1: just guess then any stick it gross, And like you
- 28:13Speaker 1: have to use this eco soap because it's like in
- 28:17Speaker 1: the jungle, you have to use eco.
- 28:18Speaker 4: So it doesn't it doesn't work.
- 28:20Speaker 1: It doesn't work at eco shamboo gross.
- 28:24Speaker 7: The other thing that keeps bugging me is do you
- 28:26Speaker 7: get lunch? Because there's all the talk around dinner being
- 28:29Speaker 7: the big meal and the little handful of oats for breakfast?
- 28:32Speaker 6: Do you get lunch?
- 28:33Speaker 5: You get rice and beans, so I noticed beans. But
- 28:36Speaker 5: every day it's the same thing.
- 28:38Speaker 1: It's rice and beans and so and you get this
- 28:41Speaker 1: tiny amount of rice and heaps of beans, like massive
- 28:44Speaker 1: amounts of beans, but.
- 28:46Speaker 6: Sometimes farting as well everywhere.
- 28:48Speaker 5: Oh yeah gross.
- 28:49Speaker 1: But we would always keep extra beans aside in case
- 28:53Speaker 1: we didn't get much for dinner, so we would sort
- 28:55Speaker 1: of you could eat the rasp but then we try
- 28:56Speaker 1: and keep a little bit of extra rice and a
- 28:58Speaker 1: little bit of beans.
- 28:59Speaker 5: And the thing that kept us.
- 29:00Speaker 4: All alive, like a prisoner, and the thing that kept.
- 29:04Speaker 5: Us all alive.
- 29:05Speaker 1: And this was Dom's idea because she's a tangent. She
- 29:07Speaker 1: realized that we got unlimited olive oil. So we just
- 29:10Speaker 1: put olive oil on everything, like dunked it on everything.
- 29:14Speaker 1: In the cooking, we just used masses of olive oil
- 29:16Speaker 1: because it's got all the calories.
- 29:17Speaker 5: Yeah, it's actually quite good for you. So we used
- 29:20Speaker 5: heap that.
- 29:20Speaker 1: But yeah, but the hard thing about the rice and
- 29:22Speaker 1: beans was like it was my job to cook the
- 29:25Speaker 1: rice and beans while we're in camp.
- 29:27Speaker 5: And I was like, hey, I can cook rice, but
- 29:29Speaker 5: there's no timer.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Right, I don't have any idea of when lunch is
- 29:34Speaker 1: and I sort of started to figure out because you
- 29:36Speaker 1: could sort of hear Chris and Julia when Chris was
- 29:38Speaker 1: hosting it. You could sort of hear them up in
- 29:40Speaker 1: the distance, so you'd know at certain times, like roughly
- 29:44Speaker 1: what the time was. So I would start cooking the
- 29:46Speaker 1: beans when I heard them say I'm a celebrity, get
- 29:48Speaker 1: me out here. Say okay, the show started. I put
- 29:50Speaker 1: the beans on.
- 29:51Speaker 6: And then it's.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Crazy yeah, And then I'd sort of guess when about
- 29:58Speaker 1: half an hour gone by and I put the rice
- 29:59Speaker 1: on an and we didn't like it had nothing to
- 30:02Speaker 1: measure the rice with, like you know at home you
- 30:04Speaker 1: got your measurements, and so I had to guess. And
- 30:07Speaker 1: then you cook the beans in water, and the boys
- 30:11Speaker 1: were so hungry. They would like, after I, after I
- 30:15Speaker 1: cooked the beans, that have bean juice tea.
- 30:17Speaker 7: So I'd have to, oh, my god, the desperation.
- 30:22Speaker 2: That's very smart, isn't it the juice. I'm engross but smart.
- 30:26Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 30:26Speaker 1: And when Nick comings the Badger came in, he was
- 30:29Speaker 1: like experimenting with everything. He was like, we fried banana
- 30:33Speaker 1: skins and the boy and I was like, I'm not
- 30:35Speaker 1: going to eat banana skins. And then he made this
- 30:37Speaker 1: like one night we had bones, so he made bone broths,
- 30:40Speaker 1: so we drank, we boiled the bones after dinner, and
- 30:43Speaker 1: because he's just so hungry.
- 30:44Speaker 6: Oh my god.
- 30:46Speaker 5: But it was funny watching it.
- 30:48Speaker 1: I actually thought at one point when they were doing
- 30:49Speaker 1: one of the eating challenges and they had to dieballs
- 30:51Speaker 1: and rat stars, which is what I had to eat,
- 30:54Speaker 1: I thought, like a few different times, I've had phone
- 30:56Speaker 1: calls going no, we're tossing around some ideas, would you
- 30:59Speaker 1: be interested in an All Stars version?
- 31:01Speaker 7: Oh?
- 31:01Speaker 5: And I've always been like, oh yeah, And then I
- 31:03Speaker 5: say they eat out and I'm like, I'll never do it.
- 31:06Speaker 2: What about Hughes eat vegan for fifteen years and had
- 31:08Speaker 2: to eat bars penis quite like, Okay.
- 31:13Speaker 6: It's a it's a penis, Like, it's not.
- 31:15Speaker 4: It's it's flesh. Yeah, but seen a pi.
- 31:18Speaker 7: It's not like that's that's what he's abstaining from outside.
- 31:22Speaker 7: So when he when he was carrying on about that,
- 31:24Speaker 7: I thought, not cant.
- 31:25Speaker 2: It's not like he hasn't eaten an animal product in
- 31:28Speaker 2: fifteen years. He hasn't eaten honey, he hasn't eaten dairy,
- 31:31Speaker 2: he hasn't eaten cheese, let alone, any form of meat.
- 31:35Speaker 6: Okay, and you think.
- 31:36Speaker 7: That I'm just like it over It's just it's crap.
- 31:41Speaker 7: Everyone's eating crap. They don't want to eat. Yeah, yeah,
- 31:43Speaker 7: but you know, I get it, like it was a
- 31:45Speaker 7: long it's a long time now. But I'm thinking it's
- 31:47Speaker 7: not like it's a cut of meat, you know what
- 31:49Speaker 7: I mean, Like it's not a nice one that you
- 31:52Speaker 7: would abstain from in the outside world.
- 31:54Speaker 6: It's a penis.
- 31:55Speaker 5: I don't know that bars penis is a given weight
- 31:57Speaker 5: drug to red meat though.
- 32:01Speaker 6: Not a chance. Oh god, I.
- 32:05Speaker 1: Was good fun watching it, and yeah it is. It's
- 32:08Speaker 1: quite weird watching it knowing exactly what they've all gone
- 32:10Speaker 1: through and exactly what it's like, and it was pretty cool.
- 32:13Speaker 2: And then camping that was I really know what they're
- 32:17Speaker 2: going through. It's terrible carrying you and I was wearing
- 32:20Speaker 2: your thongs in the shower.
- 32:23Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, that's tough, isn't it?
- 32:25Speaker 4: In line to wash.
- 32:28Speaker 7: Well, I'll get in touch when more questions come up, Elizabeth,
- 32:30Speaker 7: because I've always Yeah, the.
- 32:32Speaker 5: Other worst for me was right. So I decided.
- 32:35Speaker 1: Early on that I was just going to shower in
- 32:37Speaker 1: the nicky Nuna and I said to the producers, can
- 32:39Speaker 1: you just not show me? I just don't give you
- 32:41Speaker 1: permission to show even if it's blue, and you can't
- 32:43Speaker 1: show me on television in the nude. And not that
- 32:45Speaker 1: I'm approved, but I just thought, my husband and my
- 32:48Speaker 1: kids don't need to see me on the TV. And so,
- 32:51Speaker 1: as Catherine knows, I love being I've seen it too
- 32:53Speaker 1: many times. So I said to the producer, can you
- 32:59Speaker 1: not film me?
- 32:59Speaker 7: Go?
- 33:00Speaker 5: Yeah, we have to have the cameras on you.
- 33:01Speaker 1: We'll put them to blue because if you fall over
- 33:03Speaker 1: and hit your head, we need to know, like if
- 33:05Speaker 1: something's happened. I said, yeah, okay. So I spent the
- 33:07Speaker 1: whole time showing me thinking that no one can really
- 33:09Speaker 1: see me. And then I realized as I left, there
- 33:11Speaker 1: was all these army bloats like patrolling around the perimeter
- 33:14Speaker 1: on the outside that we couldn't see.
- 33:16Speaker 5: They can see.
- 33:18Speaker 7: Are they all like cam cream and stuff? They fully, Oh,
- 33:24Speaker 7: so you've just been putting on a show every night
- 33:26Speaker 7: when you're having a shower.
- 33:28Speaker 5: Anyway, good luck to community service.
- 33:30Speaker 4: Oh that's right.
- 33:31Speaker 2: If that's the best part of their day, Liz, consider
- 33:34Speaker 2: it a public service that you've done. Now, listen, one
- 33:37Speaker 2: of the reasons we weren't here last week is we
- 33:39Speaker 2: were trying to set up some new stuff and we
- 33:41Speaker 2: do have a new segment that's very exciting.
- 33:43Speaker 4: We're going to give it a try. Yeah, we do.
- 33:45Speaker 6: That's cool.
- 33:46Speaker 4: Do you read the memos?
- 33:48Speaker 7: Carolyn does all sorts of stuff and when I'm not
- 33:50Speaker 7: around Elizabeth.
- 33:51Speaker 2: So this segment is called ask a Coach. Now, this one,
- 33:55Speaker 2: this idea has come from a dribbler and I have
- 33:57Speaker 2: a question. Well, I just get to ask my questions,
- 34:02Speaker 2: and I think this is the thing that other people
- 34:03Speaker 2: are saying, Well, maybe I could too. Yeah, so we
- 34:06Speaker 2: have this question. This question comes from Nick, who is
- 34:08Speaker 2: an under twelves coach in my same association. So, but
- 34:13Speaker 2: please feel free everyone to send in your own ask
- 34:15Speaker 2: a coach question. So one she always finds confusing as
- 34:19Speaker 2: a sideline throwing. Did they ever have a drill for that?
- 34:21Speaker 2: Was it simply quickest to the sideline? Assuming center third,
- 34:24Speaker 2: who's receiving it? Gold center? Where are the wing attack
- 34:27Speaker 2: and the goal attack? Did they practice any set plays
- 34:29Speaker 2: for that? So we thought and we thought and we
- 34:32Speaker 2: thought about who would be a good coach to answer
- 34:35Speaker 2: a question like this? And we have Lisa Alexander. I
- 34:38Speaker 2: don't know if you've heard of her, but I think
- 34:40Speaker 2: nine years she was the coach of the Australian Diamonds.
- 34:42Speaker 2: But thanks to our friends at netfit, Lisa has answered
- 34:46Speaker 2: Nick's question.
- 34:46Speaker 4: Here.
- 34:47Speaker 2: We'll just play a snippet of it now, but the
- 34:48Speaker 2: rest of it will be on the Facebook page, So
- 34:50Speaker 2: jump on that and have a listen to have a
- 34:52Speaker 2: listened to this.
- 34:53Speaker 8: Generally speaking, for a sideline throwing, particularly in the center court,
- 34:58Speaker 8: I like the person who who is first to the
- 35:01Speaker 8: ball to take the ball for that sideline, and that
- 35:04Speaker 8: means that everyone else needs to know what their role
- 35:08Speaker 8: is if that player takes the ball. Generally speaking, I
- 35:13Speaker 8: don't like the goal attack to take that pass on
- 35:15Speaker 8: the sideline in the center third because I like them
- 35:18Speaker 8: to be closer to the goals where they're going to
- 35:21Speaker 8: be scoring those goals for your team. So generally speaking,
- 35:25Speaker 8: it'll usually be the goal offense, the wing defense, and
- 35:29Speaker 8: maybe the center that takes that sideline throwing.
- 35:33Speaker 2: Yeah, so thank you Lisa, and thank you netfit. And
- 35:36Speaker 2: netfit has a whole bunch of drills for coaches. Even
- 35:40Speaker 2: if you're not as highly qualified as I am, you
- 35:43Speaker 2: might find these useful, but yeah, so we'll put that
- 35:46Speaker 2: on our Facebook page. And there's also another little drill
- 35:50Speaker 2: that they've got on there that we'll probably share on
- 35:51Speaker 2: Instagram anyway, get around it.
- 35:53Speaker 4: So thanks netfit So dribblers. What we know, We've.
- 35:59Speaker 2: Been looking at our numbers and we know that most
- 36:02Speaker 2: of our listeners are from New South Wales, followed by Victoria,
- 36:05Speaker 2: followed by Queens and now we know there are a
- 36:07Speaker 2: lot of mad mad netball fans in South Australia and
- 36:10Speaker 2: we have had some requests to bring a live event
- 36:12Speaker 2: to South Australia. We need to have a lot more
- 36:14Speaker 2: listeners over there before we can do that. We would
- 36:16Speaker 2: love to come and see you, but so please, wherever
- 36:19Speaker 2: you are in this wide bround land or internationally, would
- 36:23Speaker 2: you please do us as solid and recommend this podcast
- 36:26Speaker 2: to five people. That would be great. We are really
- 36:29Speaker 2: looking to build this this year. We want to keep
- 36:32Speaker 2: the content free for us forever if we possibly can.
- 36:35Speaker 2: But yeah, we need to build our numbers, so please
- 36:37Speaker 2: help us out with that. You know that this is
- 36:39Speaker 2: worth sharing. You're not asking someone a favor, You're doing
- 36:41Speaker 2: them a favor in recommending that they tune in to
- 36:44Speaker 2: listen to us.
- 36:48Speaker 5: All right.
- 36:48Speaker 2: One of the most important things that we do here
- 36:50Speaker 2: and we will continue to do it in twenty twenty five,
- 36:52Speaker 2: and this is the very first time we do it
- 36:54Speaker 2: is we like to recognize the people who keep our
- 36:56Speaker 2: game alive at the community level all around the country.
- 36:59Speaker 2: We call this Sei and Win beneath our Wings and
- 37:01Speaker 2: we love it and we know that you love it too,
- 37:04Speaker 2: And we have a nomination this week CAF.
- 37:06Speaker 7: We do this comes from Kerrie Cameron and she starts
- 37:10Speaker 7: by saying that she's been thinking about submitting this for
- 37:13Speaker 7: a wind beneath my Wings for a long time, but
- 37:16Speaker 7: it's not your usual suspect. So she goes on to
- 37:19Speaker 7: say her sister Shari has been a diehard Netball of
- 37:21Speaker 7: her whole life. We grew up in Country Victoria, so
- 37:24Speaker 7: at least half the year was devoted to Netbull and
- 37:27Speaker 7: Football AFL. We watched mum train when we were very
- 37:30Speaker 7: young and started playing as soon as we could. But
- 37:33Speaker 7: here is the difference. Scherie has had limited vision for
- 37:37Speaker 7: years now. She's actually legally blind with only five percent vision.
- 37:42Speaker 7: She hasn't played in years, but follows her games, her
- 37:45Speaker 7: sister's games. Back in the day and the Sun called
- 37:48Speaker 7: a Z League Instead. She re comes up to Brisbane
- 37:51Speaker 7: each year to watch a live game with me.
- 37:53Speaker 6: Isn't that incredible?
- 37:54Speaker 5: It's so great.
- 37:55Speaker 7: I know what legend, absolute champion. Shout out to you, Sharen,
- 38:00Speaker 7: Thank you to Carrie for sending that through.
- 38:02Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 38:02Speaker 2: Absolutely, what a wonderful what a wonderful fan of our
- 38:05Speaker 2: great game. Fantastic Thank you Shari, you are the wind
- 38:08Speaker 2: beneath our wings. Well, that is the end of our
- 38:12Speaker 2: time together for today.
- 38:14Speaker 4: The Boss has to go and do important at Ballustralia.
- 38:16Speaker 6: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, I need to go to the bathroom.
- 38:19Speaker 2: Busy, But it's so great to be back and looking
- 38:23Speaker 2: staring down the barrel of a no dribble new year
- 38:27Speaker 2: and feeling good and you're looking forward to chatting with
- 38:31Speaker 2: more dribblers throughout the year and cah.
- 38:34Speaker 7: Wait, we've got plenty of stuff to talk about until
- 38:36Speaker 7: the actual netbork kicks off.
- 38:37Speaker 6: So how good?
- 38:38Speaker 4: Yeah, how fantastic.
- 38:39Speaker 6: Trap yourselves in, everybody.
- 38:40Speaker 1: No, we didn't get to talk today about Catherine fainting
- 38:43Speaker 1: at the function last week, and.
- 38:45Speaker 7: Wait what I've fainted at Parliament House. Let's talk about
- 38:48Speaker 7: that next week.
- 38:50Speaker 2: We're going to put a pin in that, and we're
- 38:52Speaker 2: definitely going to talk about I do have to give
- 38:54Speaker 2: an update that this is the fifty to fifth year
- 38:56Speaker 2: in a row where I have not had my growth spurts,
- 38:58Speaker 2: so everything is the same there maybe this year anyway.
- 39:03Speaker 4: Signing off now from Dubile h Q.
- 39:05Speaker 2: I'm Carolin Swindelle, I'm kath Cox, I'm Loszallas.
- 39:09Speaker 6: Have a bright week, Love you line
