- 1:11Sean McAllister: It's Vegas Revealed Episode 102, and news is breaking right now as we record this episode.
- 1:18Sean McAllister: Adele has rescheduled all of her Vegas performances.
- 1:22Sean McAllister: The show is supposed to start this weekend.
- 1:26Dayna Roselli: We have first reaction to the news.
- 1:28Sean McAllister: And the Grammys are coming to Vegas for the first time ever.
- 1:33Dayna Roselli: It's all now on Vegas Revealed.
- 1:36Dayna Roselli: Let's spin that wheel.
- 1:57Dayna Roselli: And we had to redo it because while we were doing that, the news came out that Adele has canceled her brand new show here at the Coliseum at Caesar's Palace that was supposed to kick off this weekend.
- 2:08Sean McAllister: Yeah, I mean, we're recording on a Thursday.
- 2:11Sean McAllister: Friday was supposed to be Adele's first show of this uh massive, kind of groundbreaking residency that she announced as she also announced her new album, 30, was coming out.
- 2:26Sean McAllister: This was going to be Adele's big return to live performances.
- 2:31Sean McAllister: I know we all saw her on that Oprah special.
- 2:33Sean McAllister: Right.
- 2:33Sean McAllister: But the first time that fans were going to see Adele back on stage was going to be right here in Las Vegas this weekend, Friday and Saturday night for her residency weekends with Adele.
- 2:46Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 2:46Dayna Roselli: And she had scheduled outdates to about April 16th, but everyone was expecting after that run she would probably extend and things like that.
- 2:54Dayna Roselli: But those dates have all been rescheduled.
- 2:58Dayna Roselli: Well, not rescheduled yet.
- 2:59Dayna Roselli: She says they will be rescheduled, but the key, you know, like little section in there is all dates will be rescheduled, not just this weekend, not just next weekend, but all of them.
- 3:09Sean McAllister: And I did just look at uh ticketing sites and uh it they they have been updated.
- 3:14Sean McAllister: All shows say currently postponed.
- 3:17Sean McAllister: Wow.
- 3:17Sean McAllister: So uh obviously that's not happening.
- 3:20Sean McAllister: And uh this announcement that Adele's residency, all of her dates are being rescheduled, the show isn't ready, um, it it came to light from Adele herself in uh a very tearful and emotional statement that she made on social media.
- 3:38Dayna Roselli: Yeah, let's take a listen.
- 3:39Dayna Roselli: It's about a minute and a half, and it's a pretty emotional clip.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: I um um listen.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: I'm so sorry, but um ready.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: We've tried absolutely everything that we can to put it together in time to be good enough for you, but we've been absolutely destroyed delivery delay and COVID.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: And it's been impossible to finish the show And I can't give you a I'm glad I'm sorry that's me.
- 5:12Sean McAllister: She was struggling through that.
- 5:13Dayna Roselli: She really was.
- 5:14Dayna Roselli: I think we were sh you and I were literally shocked and stunned.
- 5:17Dayna Roselli: You know, we hear a lot of these shows cancel because of a medical reason or somebody's sick and they just need to like move it another weekend or cancel, you know, a run, a leg, you know, and say, I'll be back for the next run.
- 5:30Dayna Roselli: But this was kind of a different reason.
- 5:33Dayna Roselli: Someone admitting the show isn't just not ready.
- 5:36Sean McAllister: Right.
- 5:37Sean McAllister: And it sounds like, you know, because of all of the shipping issues, it sounds like maybe some of the production elements haven't made it here to Las Vegas yet.
- 5:46Sean McAllister: And then obviously with the Omicron variant of COVID-19 spreading so rapidly, you know, as you heard Adele say, a lot of her crew members are are down with COVID right now and aren't able to be there to help put the show together.
- 6:06Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I mean, it's you know, obviously something that people are dealing with around the world, right?
- 6:10Dayna Roselli: We've seen, you know, places have to even just shut up shop for the day because they don't have enough employees and things like that.
- 6:16Dayna Roselli: And if she has a huge crew, sometimes, yeah, you can find another guitar player or you can find, you know, but it's not as easy as people would think.
- 6:25Dayna Roselli: You have your people and the people you've been rehearsing with.
- 6:29Sean McAllister: And well, and and you know, let's not forget her show comes with a lot of automation too.
- 6:35Sean McAllister: You know, sets come in and out, the stage goes up and down.
- 6:38Sean McAllister: There's a lot of logistics that go into these shows, and you can't necessarily just, you know, pick a new crew person to go and stage manage, let's say.
- 6:48Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 6:49Sean McAllister: You know, you need really need to understudy that position in order to keep the production safe.
- 6:55Dayna Roselli: Well, and it's interesting because immediately I thought, okay, I feel bad for all the people that flew to Las Vegas and spent the money.
- 7:02Dayna Roselli: Also, you know, Adele performing is a big deal, but also what's been a big deal around here and really is the the price of the tickets.
- 7:08Dayna Roselli: They're very expensive.
- 7:09Dayna Roselli: There was a, you know, you had to be approved, they didn't want ticket brokers buying.
- 7:13Dayna Roselli: There was a lot going into this residency, a lot of, you know, discussion and a lot of, you know, news headlines about it, basically.
- 7:20Dayna Roselli: So then you think all these people, you know, that don't live in Las Vegas, that flew in hotels, you know, um, you know, renting a car, whatever it may be, it's expensive.
- 7:31Dayna Roselli: And so now what?
- 7:32Sean McAllister: Exactly.
- 7:33Dayna Roselli: They're here, which we have plenty to do, but if you're a huge Adele fan, you came in to see Adele.
- 7:38Sean McAllister: Exactly.
- 7:38Sean McAllister: So we're recording this podcast on a Thursday.
- 7:41Sean McAllister: Adele was supposed to begin her show on Friday.
- 7:44Sean McAllister: We've seen people on social media saying my brother and sister-in-law are literally flying to Las Vegas right now.
- 7:54Sean McAllister: They spent 3,000 bucks on tickets, another 2,000 bucks for hotel rooms.
- 8:00Sean McAllister: And these people are in the air.
- 8:02Sean McAllister: They're gonna find out when they get here that the show is canceled and that the reason for their trip is canceled.
- 8:10Sean McAllister: I understand that frustration, and and you know, a lot of people are frustrated about the timing of the rescheduling of all these performances.
- 8:21Sean McAllister: Like, why wait till the last minute like this?
- 8:23Dayna Roselli: Yeah, couldn't you have decided a week ago so somebody could switch their plans or you know, if they took time off work, go, you know what, I'm gonna come in this week and take take the time when Adele shows right.
- 8:32Dayna Roselli: I it it's a hard one.
- 8:34Dayna Roselli: The one thing that I'll say is that I feel like for all these large events, whether it be a big concert or a show or a sporting event, that in this like day and time we have to be prepared that 50-50, this event or show or concert may not go off because of so many changes in the world.
- 8:55Dayna Roselli: Constantly things are being thrown at us that we don't expect or didn't think would happen, like never saw that coming.
- 9:02Dayna Roselli: I mean, now we're getting more and more used to it.
- 9:04Dayna Roselli: But I hope that a lot of these people, maybe there are options because I know when I went to book, uh browsed around for a hotel, there was like COVID insurance or you know, an extra 33 bucks, you could get this, you know, this certain, and then I think the airlines had that stuff.
- 9:18Dayna Roselli: I mean, maybe it could work out.
- 9:20Dayna Roselli: But when you're already in flight, like you said, and her show is literally uh, as Sean said, we're recording on a Thursday.
- 9:25Dayna Roselli: It's starting tomorrow.
- 9:27Dayna Roselli: You you just better come enjoy Vegas.
- 9:29Dayna Roselli: The best thing about Vegas is that we do have a lot to do here, and it is a fun place.
- 9:33Sean McAllister: Well, and uh I would not be surprised if other shows and other entertainers will try and make room for people who are here to see Adele and say, you know, if you can show us your actual Adele ticket, maybe we can accommodate something for you at our show.
- 9:53Sean McAllister: Right.
- 9:53Sean McAllister: We haven't seen anything like that just yet, because obviously this news is literally just coming out.
- 10:00Sean McAllister: Um, but I would not be surprised if something like that happened, or if casinos try and make things right and you know, offer seats to another show.
- 10:13Dayna Roselli: I have some friends coming in next weekend who were like, what's going on in Vegas?
- 10:16Dayna Roselli: And I was like, you know, January is kind of a slow month.
- 10:19Dayna Roselli: There actually aren't some you know, some of the shows actually aren't on right now.
- 10:24Dayna Roselli: People have taken breaks or they're doing some touring.
- 10:26Dayna Roselli: I mean, we definitely have a lot of shows on, but like the usual, you know, um big shows are hard to find in January and smaller shows too.
- 10:37Dayna Roselli: I mean, it's it's hit or miss.
- 10:39Sean McAllister: It is, and this was set to be uh one of the premier productions opening up in Las Vegas, and uh you know now that leaves a a gap in the entertainment schedule here.
- 10:53Sean McAllister: Um gosh, and the the the staff at the Coliseum, backstage, front of house, the concessions folks, the the ushers, the ticket takers, the box office.
- 11:06Sean McAllister: I mean, there are ripple effects that happen here too.
- 11:10Sean McAllister: Not to mention the people who come to town, like obviously, you know, they're going to be eating and drinking and gambling.
- 11:17Sean McAllister: Um, I guess now they'll have more time to do all that.
- 11:19Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 11:20Dayna Roselli: Um it's interesting because you would browsed around for some tickets today and thought about maybe getting some last minute.
- 11:25Dayna Roselli: And there were tickets available, but they were uh they were they were on Ticketmaster and Stub Hub?
- 11:31Sean McAllister: Well, no, I couldn't find any on Ticketmaster.
- 11:33Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 11:33Sean McAllister: So it was only secondary on StubHub.
- 11:36Sean McAllister: And I believe that once you buy tickets, you can't get a refund if something happens like that.
- 11:44Sean McAllister: At least from StubHub because it's a secondary platform.
- 11:48Dayna Roselli: Um But they were about$400,$500 at at the the cheapest.
- 11:52Sean McAllister: The cheapest.
- 11:53Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 11:53Sean McAllister: I mean, and once you factor in all the the taxes and fees and everything, the cheapest ended up being like$530 for a single ticket.
- 12:02Dayna Roselli: Yeah, up in the the balcony, right?
- 12:03Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 12:04Dayna Roselli: So I have a friend that had a ticket that he needed to actually get rid of.
- 12:08Dayna Roselli: Um and because he a last minute trip came up out of town for him, and I think it was business-wise, and said, you know, he's trying to find a place to, you know, resell it at just what he bought it for.
- 12:19Dayna Roselli: But then he's one of the very few ticket holders.
- 12:22Dayna Roselli: Now he's like, oh great, she canceled, so now I might be able to actually go when she reschedules the show in the future.
- 12:29Dayna Roselli: So for him it worked out.
- 12:30Sean McAllister: Right.
- 12:30Dayna Roselli: Oh my goodness.
- 12:31Sean McAllister: Right.
- 12:32Dayna Roselli: Well, you know, I mean, listen, it's it's hard to watch Adele do that video.
- 12:35Dayna Roselli: I must say I do appreciate the honesty.
- 12:38Dayna Roselli: If that's is, you know, she's being honest and she seems very emotional over it, and the show is not ready and she wants it to be right.
- 12:45Dayna Roselli: I do feel very badly for all the fans.
- 12:47Dayna Roselli: It's a hard one.
- 12:48Sean McAllister: It is, and uh gosh, it it's tough for the people who did come into town.
- 12:54Sean McAllister: And just like Adele said, she she realizes that people traveled to see her.
- 13:00Sean McAllister: And you know, it sounded and looked like she was genuinely hurt by the fact that she is not able to be here to put on a show for them.
- 13:11Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 13:11Dayna Roselli: You know, and I think when you hear her say she's gonna reschedule, there are some people who go, Well, I might not be available then.
- 13:18Dayna Roselli: That's the frustrating part.
- 13:19Dayna Roselli: Because she's not coming to a city where you live and you drive down the road and your show got canceled.
- 13:24Dayna Roselli: It's, you know, people flying in specifically for this.
- 13:27Dayna Roselli: So it does, it's a little tricky in Vegas when that happens.
- 13:30Dayna Roselli: You know what?
- 13:30Dayna Roselli: We don't have a lot of it, and obviously there's been uncertain times.
- 13:33Dayna Roselli: So we will keep you posted um about Adele, any updates, and she's great at doing it too on her social media, so watch for that.
- 13:41Sean McAllister: All right.
- 13:42Sean McAllister: Well, let's move on to another piece of news that that broke just this week as well.
- 13:47Sean McAllister: The Grammys are coming to Vegas.
- 13:49Dayna Roselli: Yes, and it's the first time ever that this has happened.
- 13:53Sean McAllister: I mean, this is a a really big deal, and it's something that's kind of been on the radar for the last few weeks.
- 14:00Sean McAllister: There have been some troubles out in Los Angeles with the Grammys, with COVID heating up.
- 14:05Sean McAllister: They had to postpone the award show.
- 14:07Sean McAllister: Then they tried to reschedule it, but the dates just weren't lining up.
- 14:11Sean McAllister: So the Grammys were essentially left without a home.
- 14:14Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 14:14Dayna Roselli: They were supposed to be in January, and then the postpone date, people were talking about April.
- 14:20Dayna Roselli: Um, but I guess it takes like a 10-day like in and out to set up the Grammys and all that kind of thing and the organizing.
- 14:27Dayna Roselli: So they need a venue for that long, and there's other things happening at a lot of these different locations.
- 14:33Dayna Roselli: So Las Vegas said, hey, we'll do it.
- 14:35Dayna Roselli: So the MGM Grand Garden Arena happens to be available on April 3rd and around April 3rd.
- 14:42Dayna Roselli: So it's coming and it's the first time ever.
- 14:44Dayna Roselli: I wasn't sure.
- 14:45Dayna Roselli: I had to actually look that up.
- 14:46Dayna Roselli: I thought maybe it's happened in the past, like back in the heyday.
- 14:49Dayna Roselli: I didn't remember it ever being here since I've lived here since 2004, but it is the first time ever.
- 14:55Dayna Roselli: The Grammys will be live in Las Vegas.
- 14:57Sean McAllister: It is.
- 14:58Sean McAllister: We have hosted and will once again the ACM Awards that are coming here at the beginning of March.
- 15:04Sean McAllister: In the past, we've held the Billboard Awards here.
- 15:06Sean McAllister: We've held the American Music Awards here, but never the Grammys.
- 15:10Sean McAllister: This is music's biggest night, and it's going to be a big deal for Las Vegas too, especially as the city continues to rebound from this pandemic situation.
- 15:21Sean McAllister: It's a massively high-profile event to be held here.
- 15:25Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I mean, and like you said, we're no stranger to putting on events like that.
- 15:28Dayna Roselli: And we've had the Latin Grammys here too, I think.
- 15:30Dayna Roselli: Many years.
- 15:31Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 15:31Dayna Roselli: So I mean, you know, we can handle it, that's for sure.
- 15:34Dayna Roselli: At first I thought, well, MGM Grand, you know, big enough, the garden arena, but it is, holds 17,000 people.
- 15:41Dayna Roselli: So um we've done it before, and I think it's the Billboard Music Awards I've been to at MGM Grand many times in the past, and there's always plenty of room.
- 15:49Sean McAllister: There is.
- 15:49Sean McAllister: And, you know, they'll they'll build out a huge red carpet.
- 15:53Sean McAllister: Music's biggest stars are going to be here.
- 15:57Sean McAllister: You know, we'll be watching the the arrivals on uh, you know, the red carpet shows that are gonna be happening.
- 16:04Sean McAllister: So it is.
- 16:05Sean McAllister: It's a big deal.
- 16:06Sean McAllister: Uh they're going to be airing on CBS, The Grammys Will, live from Las Vegas.
- 16:11Sean McAllister: And we can't wait for this.
- 16:13Dayna Roselli: And I think like the more eyes on Las Vegas and the reminder that we're still here, the better.
- 16:17Dayna Roselli: This is a great PR for our city.
- 16:19Dayna Roselli: So I'm glad that, you know, a lot of times I feel like we always like open our arms and go, hey, you can come here.
- 16:26Dayna Roselli: We've got room, we've got places, and now we have so much selection that it's amazing.
- 16:30Dayna Roselli: I think um I was reading that they talked about T-Mobile Arena, but because it's like Golden Knights playoff time, they don't know exactly if they would have that 10-day free period or whatever.
- 16:39Dayna Roselli: So they're gonna do it at the MGM.
- 16:42Dayna Roselli: So it's gonna be great.
- 16:42Dayna Roselli: I'm hoping there's a Vegas twist to the show, though.
- 16:45Sean McAllister: I was just gonna say it'll be interesting to see what the producers will put together because you know now they're kind of reformulating their entire plan for the award show to be held here in Las Vegas and to feature Vegas personalities, and our I'm likely our Vegas sports teams will be featured as well.
- 17:04Sean McAllister: So even though it is music's biggest night, it is a big pop culture moment, and sports is part of pop culture too.
- 17:11Sean McAllister: And uh it it will.
- 17:13Sean McAllister: It'll be cool to see how Vegas is represented.
- 17:18Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 17:18Dayna Roselli: And and will the Whitney Houston hologram pop up?
- 17:21Sean McAllister: I mean, it very well may.
- 17:22Sean McAllister: Maybe she'll present an award.
- 17:24Sean McAllister: Who knows?
- 17:25Dayna Roselli: It's true, right?
- 17:26Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh, we've talked about that show over at Harris in the past.
- 17:29Dayna Roselli: So there is a show um that uses Whitney Houston's hologram here in Las Vegas, and it's pretty cool.
- 17:34Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 17:35Dayna Roselli: I'm super excited for it.
- 17:36Dayna Roselli: It's April 3rd, so um, we'll keep you posted.
- 17:38Dayna Roselli: I'm sure we'll have many developments as the months continue on.
- 17:42Dayna Roselli: And Sean, how was Katy Perry a resorts world?
- 17:44Dayna Roselli: You went to the show.
- 17:45Dayna Roselli: I'm gonna go on March 4th, but um the videos you sent look spectacular.
- 17:50Sean McAllister: It was so much fun.
- 17:53Sean McAllister: I mean, it is j it's visually just stunning.
- 17:58Sean McAllister: You know how we always say that about Gwen Stefani's show that it's just a visual spectacle.
- 18:04Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 18:05Sean McAllister: Katy Perry's show is the same way, but it's the same thing, but different.
- 18:11Sean McAllister: It's it's visually different.
- 18:14Sean McAllister: I don't know.
- 18:15Dayna Roselli: It's it's more like play, it's more, what do you call it?
- 18:18Dayna Roselli: Cartoony.
- 18:19Sean McAllister: It's cartoony.
- 18:20Sean McAllister: Is that the right?
- 18:22Sean McAllister: I mean, it really feels like the the residency is called play.
- 18:27Sean McAllister: And essentially the whole premise is that Katy Perry is this doll who is being taken through all these different scenarios during the show.
- 18:37Sean McAllister: Okay, and so everything around her, it's like if you were dropped into the middle of Toy Story.
- 18:42Sean McAllister: And so, you know, the couch is giant, the bed is giant, the toothbrushes, the rubber duckies, like they're all giant.
- 18:51Sean McAllister: And it's it's so much fun.
- 18:53Sean McAllister: The costumes, the dancers, I have to say, her dancers and backup singers work their asses off in this show.
- 19:00Sean McAllister: I was like, I could see backstage, and when they were back there catching their breath, there were dancers back there with towels over their heads, like wiping down the sweat, and then they were right back out there, like busting their butts again.
- 19:14Sean McAllister: Katie was great, her dancers were great, the production phenomenal, highly recommended.
- 19:20Dayna Roselli: Well, and it's funny because we put some video on our TikTok and we're getting a lot of response from that, but I notice some of the clips, um, like people think like and I feel bad because some of the clips are are coming across as like she looks lost, but she's acting lost, right?
- 19:37Dayna Roselli: It's part of the story, yes.
- 19:39Dayna Roselli: And so I've had to explain that to a couple people because you filled me in, but um, it's all part of it.
- 19:44Dayna Roselli: It seems like like an acted show.
- 19:46Sean McAllister: She's yes, but not overacted.
- 19:48Sean McAllister: Okay, good.
- 19:49Sean McAllister: Katie is still very much herself as she goes along with the storyline of the production, but she's interacting with, you know, different giant pieces of scenery and you know, costumed dancers who are coming out.
- 20:05Sean McAllister: So it is, it's so much fun.
- 20:07Sean McAllister: It's kind of difficult to explain.
- 20:10Dayna Roselli: It kind of seems Alice in Wonderland-esque.
- 20:12Dayna Roselli: It is, but like with different kinds of props.
- 20:14Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 20:15Dayna Roselli: Yeah, okay.
- 20:15Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 20:16Dayna Roselli: And I wanted to talk to you real quick because I haven't been in the theater yet, and that was your first time in the theater.
- 20:21Dayna Roselli: It's brand new at Resorts World.
- 20:23Dayna Roselli: What did you think?
- 20:23Dayna Roselli: And is it similar to any of the other theaters in town?
- 20:26Sean McAllister: It's very nice, very new, obviously, very clean.
- 20:30Sean McAllister: Um, it reminded me most of uh the Dolby Live Theater over at Park MGM.
- 20:37Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 20:37Sean McAllister: That's what it visually reminded me of inside.
- 20:42Sean McAllister: Uh but you can clearly tell that it has state of the art equipment and sound.
- 20:49Sean McAllister: Everything sounded amazing, everything looked amazing.
- 20:53Sean McAllister: Uh the video that was up on the sidewalls, uh, that was stunning.
- 21:00Sean McAllister: It actually looked like almost a music video.
- 21:03Sean McAllister: Uh the way that they were shooting what was happening on stage.
- 21:08Sean McAllister: Um it was it was very cool.
- 21:11Dayna Roselli: Um What do you com think like?
- 21:13Dayna Roselli: Because I know a lot of people that listen and come to Vegas when they have to buy shows or uh show tickets, I should say.
- 21:20Dayna Roselli: They want to know like how's the seating in there?
- 21:22Dayna Roselli: Like, if they sat in the back, would they still be able to see?
- 21:25Dayna Roselli: You know, because some like theaters are angled at certain ways.
- 21:28Dayna Roselli: Right, there are a little bit better than others.
- 21:30Sean McAllister: Uh it did not look like there were any obstructed views.
- 21:34Sean McAllister: There were no columns, there was nothing like that.
- 21:37Sean McAllister: Um there were, I think, two or three balconies in there.
- 21:42Sean McAllister: Um so obviously you would be further away from the stage, but I am pretty certain that just like the theater over at Park MGM, they designed the seats in such a way that even the farthest seat is no more than 150 feet from the stage.
- 22:03Sean McAllister: I'm not 100% certain about that distance, but it's in that ballpark.
- 22:08Sean McAllister: So it's it doesn't feel like you're a football field away.
- 22:12Dayna Roselli: You're calculating in your mind now.
- 22:13Dayna Roselli: I'm staring at the bottom of the floor.
- 22:14Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I was thinking I was like, wait a second, I'm 150 feet.
- 22:16Sean McAllister: How many feet is a football field?
- 22:19Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 22:20Dayna Roselli: We're tired today.
- 22:21Sean McAllister: 100 yards.
- 22:22Sean McAllister: There's three feet in a yard.
- 22:23Sean McAllister: So that would be 300 feet.
- 22:25Sean McAllister: So you'd be far you'd be much closer than a football field away.
- 22:32Dayna Roselli: Oh my goodness.
- 22:32Dayna Roselli: And get a couple cocktails in each other.
- 22:34Sean McAllister: Oh my God, welcome to being inside my mind when I'm doing math.
- 22:38Dayna Roselli: Oh my goodness.
- 22:39Dayna Roselli: Well, Luke Bryant is next.
- 22:40Dayna Roselli: You and I are going to go to that too in mid-February.
- 22:43Dayna Roselli: So we'll let everyone know how that show is.
- 22:45Dayna Roselli: And like we said, um I'll be going to Katie Perry on March 4th.
- 22:49Dayna Roselli: So I'm just glad to see all these different shows getting in there.
- 22:52Dayna Roselli: Carrie Underwood, Katy Perry, Luke Bryant, all at the Resorts World Theater.
- 22:57Sean McAllister: Alright, and continuing on with music news, Dana, it seems like there's a lot of it this week.
- 23:12Sean McAllister: And this is kind of it's got an epic lineup of probably a lot of the bands that you listened to and heard on the radio in the early 2000s.
- 23:22Sean McAllister: So this music festival has a lot of nostalgia attached to the lineup.
- 23:28Dayna Roselli: It does.
- 23:28Dayna Roselli: We're looking at the headliners right now, and it's My Chemical Romance, Paramour, Bring Me the Horizon, Avril Levine, Taking Back Sunday, Dashboard Confessional, AFI.
- 23:41Dayna Roselli: So some of these I know, some I don't.
- 23:43Dayna Roselli: I think like when I think back to Nostalgia for me, it's probably more mid to late 90s.
- 23:49Dayna Roselli: So 2000s, definitely know the music and stuff like that.
- 23:52Sean McAllister: But I'm not like Jimmy Eat World, the All-American Rejects.
- 23:57Sean McAllister: They're among the lineup too.
- 23:59Sean McAllister: Bright Eyes.
- 24:00Sean McAllister: Um, so it I it's a roster of dozens of uh artists who are going to be a part of this.
- 24:07Sean McAllister: It's a one-day festival coming up Saturday, October 22nd.
- 24:12Sean McAllister: Uh, it's taking place at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds, which is right across uh the street from the Sahara, right at Sahara and Las Vegas Boulevard.
- 24:21Sean McAllister: There's a big festival ground out there uh where Rock and Rio was several years ago.
- 24:27Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and they just recently had a big three-day weekend festival there.
- 24:30Dayna Roselli: I remember Post Malone took the stage, and I'm kind of happy because I live close by that this is a one-day festival because it can get a little bit loud over there.
- 24:38Dayna Roselli: But it's your neighbor.
- 24:40Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 24:40Dayna Roselli: I'm not I know.
- 24:41Dayna Roselli: I'm like, oh.
- 24:42Sean McAllister: You get it you can just step out on the balcony and listen to all the great music.
- 24:45Dayna Roselli: Which is great for one day.
- 24:47Dayna Roselli: But then when you're every day, every night, but there's usually fireworks and stuff like that.
- 24:51Dayna Roselli: But this sounds good.
- 24:52Dayna Roselli: All I know is I see so much excitement for this festival online.
- 24:56Dayna Roselli: Everyone's just going nuts for it.
- 24:58Dayna Roselli: So I'm excited that um hopefully it will do really well.
- 25:01Sean McAllister: You can go online to When We Were Young Festival.com to get the entire lineup and your ticket information.
- 25:09Dayna Roselli: All right, and if you are a huge fan of Bruno Mars, and Sean, I know you just recently saw his show as well in person, right?
- 25:16Dayna Roselli: And you love him.
- 25:16Sean McAllister: That was great too.
- 25:17Dayna Roselli: Well, he's coming back in a different kind of way.
- 25:20Dayna Roselli: He's coming with uh Silksonic.
- 25:21Dayna Roselli: So Silksonic is him and who?
- 25:24Sean McAllister: Uh Anderson Pach.
- 25:25Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 25:26Sean McAllister: So they teamed up, this was in 2021, so uh about mid-year, they teamed up to create this super duo called Silksonic.
- 25:35Sean McAllister: And they came out with their first single uh late last year in November, and it was immediately a hit.
- 25:41Dayna Roselli: Leave the door open.
- 25:42Sean McAllister: Leave the door open, yep.
- 25:44Sean McAllister: And it's just kind of like a a swanky throwback, sexy, funky, vibey kinda sound.
- 25:52Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 25:53Dayna Roselli: So apparently that whole you and I were trying to figure out.
- 25:57Dayna Roselli: So those are created by Silksonic.
- 26:00Sean McAllister: Correct.
- 26:01Dayna Roselli: Not it's not a Bruno Mars song.
- 26:03Dayna Roselli: It's because it's a collaboration and they have their own thing.
- 26:06Sean McAllister: Exactly.
- 26:07Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 26:08Dayna Roselli: So leave the door open for February, end of February.
- 26:12Dayna Roselli: They're starting shows, bunch of dates through March, and then I think they have one day in April too.
- 26:17Dayna Roselli: Oh, actually, I think it's Grammy weekend, April 2nd.
- 26:20Sean McAllister: Oh, there we go.
- 26:21Sean McAllister: There you go.
- 26:21Sean McAllister: So he'll be here for that.
- 26:22Sean McAllister: Silk Sonic probably gonna be up on stage too, I bet.
- 26:24Dayna Roselli: That's right.
- 26:25Dayna Roselli: And they'll be at the Park MGM.
- 26:27Dayna Roselli: So this is Silksonic.
- 26:28Dayna Roselli: It is not Bruno Mars himself, it is Silksonic shows starting at the end of February.
- 26:35Dayna Roselli: I think it's February 25th.
- 26:37Sean McAllister: Which I think is kind of clever for Bruno to do.
- 26:40Sean McAllister: He's had his own solo residency for a few years now over at Park MGM.
- 26:45Sean McAllister: And now to put this new twist on it, it gives fans a reason to come back and get something new from the performance.
- 26:55Sean McAllister: Even though his uh his individual shows, he always injected, you know, it was always a new experience, but it was generally kind of the same show.
- 27:05Sean McAllister: This will give people an entirely new show.
- 27:07Sean McAllister: So it's smart of him to reinvent the residency like this.
- 27:11Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and I think it kind of they they probably read the room.
- 27:14Dayna Roselli: It's like you do, you know, the Bruno Maher shows, you do these, and like maybe there's a different kind of reception for it.
- 27:19Dayna Roselli: It's like Lady Gaga did the Enigma and she did the you know, jazz and piano, and it seemed like there was so much love for the jazz and piano that when she came back recently, she just did jazz and piano.
- 27:29Sean McAllister: Right.
- 27:30Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 27:30Dayna Roselli: So she was like, okay, there's obviously you know a want for this in Las Vegas, and I'll do more of that.
- 27:36Sean McAllister: Yeah, so I wonder if this is kind of a trend that we're going to see continue, starting with Lady Gaga, now Bruno Mars doing that, and if there are, you know, other entertainers who have outside collaborations or have ideas of a different type of show, you know, they could alternate those performances as part of a larger Las Vegas residency, which is a pretty cool idea.
- 28:00Dayna Roselli: It really is.
- 28:01Dayna Roselli: So check it out.
- 28:02Dayna Roselli: Silksonic tickets on sale for that as well over at the Park MGM.
- 28:08Dayna Roselli: All right, why don't we do some tips?
- 28:13Sean McAllister: And Dana, I think we can both agree that the first tip has to do with something that we are both rather fond of.
- 28:20Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 28:21Sean McAllister: And that is pizza.
- 28:22Dayna Roselli: Whenever anyone mentions pizza, I'm in.
- 28:25Sean McAllister: I was already thinking about pizza today earlier.
- 28:27Sean McAllister: Pizza and mac and cheese.
- 28:29Sean McAllister: I don't know why those were both just like running through my head.
- 28:33Dayna Roselli: Well, they're both very cheesy.
- 28:34Dayna Roselli: Maybe you have a craving for cheese tonight.
- 28:36Dayna Roselli: Always.
- 28:37Sean McAllister: I always do.
- 28:38Dayna Roselli: Well, I wanted to talk because there's a lot of people that come to town and they're always asking, where's the best pizza?
- 28:42Dayna Roselli: You know, we have tons of great pizza places on the strip, but there's also good pizza off the strip.
- 28:49Dayna Roselli: And there's a chef um that I really love.
- 28:51Dayna Roselli: He actually runs a place called Manzu, and it's Chef Gio is his name, and he's actually the son of Nora of Nora's Italian restaurant.
- 28:59Dayna Roselli: That's so many people, yeah.
- 29:01Sean McAllister: It's so good.
- 29:02Dayna Roselli: I've known in Las Vegas for years and years and years.
- 29:06Dayna Roselli: It's a staple.
- 29:07Dayna Roselli: So Manzu opened and I ate there like twice and loved the pizza.
- 29:11Dayna Roselli: I really enjoyed it.
- 29:12Dayna Roselli: And now apparently I didn't even know this, but he owns other pizza restaurants called Old School Pizza.
- 29:19Dayna Roselli: There was one location, now there's two, and apparently they're getting ready to open a third.
- 29:24Dayna Roselli: And they're really known for their dough.
- 29:26Dayna Roselli: So if you're a person who's into the dough of the pizza, you might really like this.
- 29:31Sean McAllister: Well, the dough makes a big difference.
- 29:33Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 29:34Dayna Roselli: And you know, it's like if you like the old school pizzeria kind of type of dough, this is the place to go.
- 29:40Dayna Roselli: Um, it's called old school pizzeria.
- 29:43Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 29:43Dayna Roselli: They took like five years to perfect the dough.
- 29:47Dayna Roselli: Okay, so it there's a lot of thought that went into this.
- 29:50Dayna Roselli: I just wanted to give out the website.
- 29:51Dayna Roselli: They have two locations, they're opening a third, it's becoming really, really popular.
- 29:55Dayna Roselli: And if anyone's looking to try some pizza here in Las Vegas, whether you're a local or whether you are coming in to visit, it's pizzaoldschool.com.
- 30:05Dayna Roselli: And again, that's pizzaoldschool.com.
- 30:07Dayna Roselli: You can also find them on social media.
- 30:09Dayna Roselli: But um, love to talk about new pizza places.
- 30:11Sean McAllister: You know, pizza places are and and pizza in general is something that that just warms my heart.
- 30:19Sean McAllister: Something else that warms my heart, Dana, is Valentine's Day.
- 30:22Sean McAllister: I know.
- 30:22Sean McAllister: It's a very special day here in Las Vegas because a lot of places do a bunch of special stuff.
- 30:30Sean McAllister: Restaurants have specials, casinos and spas have a lot of specials.
- 30:36Dayna Roselli: They do.
- 30:36Dayna Roselli: Sometimes they have the prefix menu.
- 30:38Dayna Roselli: Uh we have a lot of weddings in town always because we are the wedding capital of the world.
- 30:43Dayna Roselli: We have a lot of engagements and proposals that happen.
- 30:46Dayna Roselli: We have a lot of romantic spots from the, you know, I mean, really anywhere outside on the strip.
- 30:51Dayna Roselli: We've got, you know, outside of the Venetian and the Paris, you know, in front of the Eiffel Tower and in front of the Bellagio Fountain.
- 30:58Dayna Roselli: So we're a great place to celebrate love, that is for sure.
- 31:01Dayna Roselli: So um just so you know, there's tons of places in and around Las Vegas that are doing Valentine's Day specials and deals.
- 31:09Sean McAllister: If you're looking for some place with a great view, people I feel like don't always remember uh the top of the world restaurant at the Strat.
- 31:18Sean McAllister: And that does have a great view.
- 31:20Sean McAllister: It revolves so you get uh views of all of the Las Vegas Valley.
- 31:25Sean McAllister: So that is my sub tip for the tip.
- 31:28Dayna Roselli: And finally, wanted to let people know you're getting an extra.
- 31:31Dayna Roselli: I mean, we had two tips, they were kind of shorter, so we're gonna throw in a third.
- 31:35Dayna Roselli: Resorts World just debuted this like property-wide multimedia experience just announced today.
- 31:42Dayna Roselli: It's called Glow.
- 31:43Dayna Roselli: But we were looking at some of the pictures and reading about it.
- 31:46Dayna Roselli: And if you want to go see something, it's a free attraction, go check out Resorts World.
- 31:50Dayna Roselli: They're putting them on the screens like all around the property, inside and out.
- 31:55Sean McAllister: Yeah, and uh Zook Nightclub, which is the nightclub at Resorts World, um, that kind of is kind of a building that stands on its own and it's totally wrapped in LED screens, which is cool.
- 32:08Sean McAllister: And then the uh entire side of one of the towers at Resorts World is also a big screen.
- 32:15Sean McAllister: So when they get all that stuff, you know, jiving and coordinating with graphics and video, it it looks really spectacular.
- 32:25Dayna Roselli: It does.
- 32:25Dayna Roselli: And then inside they have the big I don't know what's called, right.
- 32:29Dayna Roselli: See, because I was gonna like dumb it down and say big ball.
- 32:33Dayna Roselli: Sphere.
- 32:36Dayna Roselli: Yeah, which has a great, you know, the it's the coolest thing.
- 32:38Dayna Roselli: It changes all the time, and they have an LED screen, so that's part of it too, and then different sections inside.
- 32:44Dayna Roselli: So um they've always been really great with since they've opened, and and they've always talked about how digitally advanced they are.
- 32:51Dayna Roselli: So they're continuing with that trend, and we love when we can talk about things that are free for people to go and see, and it makes their vacation better when they're here, just kind of walking around and checking out stuff.
- 33:03Sean McAllister: So that is uh uh an episode with a few breaking news elements and some other musical elements and a few tips for you.
- 33:12Sean McAllister: So we hope you liked it.
- 33:13Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 33:14Dayna Roselli: Listen, thanks for joining us, everyone.
